| May 11th | Prompt: Lollipop | Word Count: 521 | @rosekillermicrofic |
Evan had a lollipop. He had a lollipop, and Barty wanted to die.
It wasn’t just the way Evan looked while enjoying his sucker, tongue gliding sensuously over the candy and mouth looking like it had been drug up from the deepest regions of Barty’s brain specifically to torture him. No, it was in part the fact that Evan was currently talking to another guy, talking and laughing with him.
Barty knew that Evan was only doing it to make him jealous, but he couldn’t deny that Evan’s plan was working. He stared intently at Evan and his companion, wishing the latter of the two a slow death.
Evan must’ve felt Barty’s heavy gaze on him. His eyes flicked over to where Barty was standing and he grinned, a languid smile spreading across his face as he took Barty in. Barty’s breath hitched as Evan sucked his lollipop, holding eye contact with Barty all the while.
Barty stared. His mouth may have dropped open slightly.
He watched as Evan’s expression took on a feral look, eyes still pinning Barty in place. He was powerless to do anything as Evan looked at him like that, sucker raised to his mouth, lips looking deliciously red as he sucked on his lollipop once more.
Then he raised a hand and curled a finger, beckoning Barty. And truthfully, who was Barty to not obey?
Barty wasn’t sure if his legs carried him over there of his own free will or if Evan had used some arcane magic to do his bidding. It certainly felt like Evan’s call was irresistible, that’s for sure. But either way, Barty didn’t particularly care once he was by Evan's side, staring down at the boy Evan had been talking to.
“Having fun over here, are we?” Barty said. His eyes flicked over to Evan's companion, giving him an unimpressed once-over, and Barty curled an arm around Evan’s waist and tugged him to his side. He didn’t care if he was being unfairly possessive—after all, he hadn’t been the one to start this game in the first place.
He was reminded of this fact as Evan reached a hand up to grab the stick of his sucker, pulling it out of his irresistible mouth with a pop.
“Yes,” Evan said simply.
The boy looked between them uneasily. Barty smirked as he saw his eyes fall to the arm wrapped around Evan’s waist.
“I, uh, should probably get… going.” His eyes flicked guiltily towards Barty.
“That sounds like the first good idea you’ve had all day,” Barty said, then jerked his chin. “Run along now.”
A sense of satisfaction washed over Barty as the guy did just that.
Turning back to Evan, he saw that he had not yet abandoned his lollipop. No, it was now resting against his lips, which were shiny from the sucker.
“I don’t think that you should be allowed to have lollipops,” Barty murmured down to him. “It’s entirely too sinful.”
“I know,” Evan popped the object in question back into his mouth, then grinned up at Barty. “That’s why I like them in the first place.”

2. Revenge - TMNT 2012
Raphael gets revenge for a fallen brother.
Raph stands over Leo's fallen form, heartbreak and fear in his eyes, and Leo almost gives up right then. But Raph steels himself just as fast. He turns to their enemy, fists clenched, the picture of righteous fury. He has always been their protector.
And with every ounce of force in his body, he boldly declares, "Don't worry, Leo! I'll revenge you!"
Leo really tries not to giggle with Mikey at that for the sake of the game and the fierce little five-year-old holding fast above him.
Predictably, Donnie's head pops up from behind the couch cushion barricade. "Actually, Fai, it's avenge—or, wait. Maybe both are right? You'd usually say—"
His impromptu grammar lesson cuts to a screech when he gets a face full of little turtle. The two of them tumble into a tight ball, Raph struggling with all his might and Donnie striking that careful balance between fight and play they've all had to learn the last few days to protect a brother much smaller than usual.
Leo rolls onto his plastron, pillow-induced death forgotten, to keep an eye on them. Raph's always been pretty rough and tumble, and even at 5, they could take some good hits in a spar. But it's still a little scary to wrestle with him when he's this small, to check their strength, to remember that your partner doesn't remember all the steps to your lethal dance.
Game forgotten, Mikey romps off to help Sensei carry in the tea and snacks Raph had adorably insisted on before his afternoon nap today.
"Man, Sensei, were we really this much work as kids?"
Leo rolls his eyes fondly at Mikey's moaning. All he'd done was crouch behind couch cushions. Meanwhile, Leo and Raph had fought for their lives to overtake Donnie's masterfully built pillow fort. Leo fought with honor and fell valiantly, thank you very much.
Splinter hums thoughtfully, "Yes. And no."
Mikey groans again, more playfully this time.
Leo can picture the twinkle in their father's eyes. Raph is laughing so hard he can't possibly be breathing, so Donnie's hands cease their tickle assault to hover anxiously over him.
"The four of you were certainly a lot to handle," he hears Sensei continue, "But you could usually be counted upon to care for and entertain each other."
Leo looks over just in time to catch Mikey's broad grin.
Splinter beckons Leo, and Donnie's not far behind, lugging an enshelled Raph.
"He's alright," Donnie preempts, "Just hiding from the nefarious tickle monster." Echoey giggles emerge from the little shell in agreement.
Leo basks in the comfort of taking tea with his family, of Donnie and Mikey doting on their little big brother, of Sensei watching over them with fondness and pride. They all try not to laugh at Splinter's disgruntled expression when Raph dunks his animal crackers into his teacup, suppressed snickers turning to full-bodied laughter at Raph's sly grin.
Then Mikey announces nap time, and Leo can't help the feeling that something important is slipping away from him. Raph lifts his arms sweetly, all sleepy and sated, to be bundled and whisked away. He calls I love yous and good nights over Mikey's shoulder.
Leo's heart hasn't stopped clenching since Donnie's panicked shout drew them all to the lab and revealed his much-shrunk brother, but it twists painfully again when he returns that call.
A furred claw settles on his shoulder. "Something troubles you, my son?"
"He's just," and Leo's not even sure he can put it into words, "so much more, Sensei."
And he doesn't mean it like Mikey did. Sure, the little guy needs a lot of care and attention, but Leo could never be frustrated about that. All he ever wants is to care for and attend to his brothers, and that Raph isn't pushing him away out of some sense of teenage pride fills him with warmth and sweetness.
What he really means to ask is, where did it all go?
Where did this happy little turtle go? The one who had bouts of hot anger but could be soothed with hugs and kisses. Who cried fat tears when he thought he'd hurt his brothers even accidentally. Who shrieked with joy at the sight of a beloved toy, or movie, or treat. Who said I love you as easy as breathing. Who felt so much so loudly and so brightly.
Sensei nods sagely. "Raphael has always been a sensitive child with large emotions. He has better control of them at your age." But Donnie's looking right at Leo, something fragile in his eyes. Guilt, probably, and understanding.
And Leo wonders sometimes after things go back to normal. When Raph is big again and still himself, always himself, but closed off in his anger, quieter in his fear and sadness and guilt, secret in his joy and love like they're a weakness and not the strongest parts of him. He wonders if maybe there's a part of Raph who still just wants to be hugged and held and loved when his emotions get too big for his body.

flashbacks to dialogue that happened less than a minute ago are annoying and a little insulting for obvious reasons, unless it's in bad buddy episode 5 [2/4] and pat is having entirely serious sepia toned flashbacks to fifty seconds ago while almost shoving a set of drumsticks he hasn't even paid for yet up his nose. then it's brilliant and world changing
Tumblr media
#don't mind me i'm just chewing glass today#when the architecture band starts playing at freshy day and ink says to pat hey isn't that the song you two played that christmas?#it's like yeah... but that's a maddeningly casual way to refer to an event that in the context of the series wide metaphor#is really more like their parents caught them making out in a closet. and then pran got sent to boarding school over it#and NOW pran is up there on stage playing that same song again. looking right at pat when he announces it. but plaYING IT with WAI#and not intentionally. not in a mean sort of way. because pran doesn't know#he doesn't KNOW that pat's been shoving drumsticks up his nose while being struck cold by Love Signs#because how could he. all he knows is that very recently pat was sighing in relief that pran isn't his rival for ink. because pat likes ink#pran does NOT know that in the (very short. more than fifty seconds but still very short) meantime#pat has tried to figure out if ink might like him back. pat has in the process accidentally figured out that HE might like pran#AND pat has tried to confess his feelings to ink only for her to go. very kindly. are you sure you like me that way? i don't think you do#(because he's the wrONG SIBLING. she likes the OTHER SIBLING. which is hilarious but a different thing to go insane over)#and it's like. pran doesn't know!!! pran is just having a day like any other. pran has Known forever#he doesn't KNOW that when they're standing there surrounded by guitars (it's essentially a gay bar. don't even get me started)#(because that's a joke but it's also not. not really. it is but it's not. you know)#!! that when they're standing there surrounded by guitars. pat is suddenly going OH. in sepia toned flashbacks to fifty seconds ago#when they were ALSO standing there surrounded by guitars btw. which is the point. nothing has changed but maybe everything has#it's the same thing it was fifty seconds ago but maybe it's not. maybe pat suddenly hears the music that's been playing forever#and maybe this is way too many fucking tags. i don't even think this is the glass i was chewing originally#*#bad buddy#bad buddy the series

tbh one of the reasons losing my mom 'early' is so hard is because typically in our family we live a long time. like i've done the research!! even back in the 1600s we were hitting our 80s and 90s. we must have the long life gene on my mom's side (across branches) save a few people and circumstances (but even then the ages were typically late 60-70s instead, people weren't dying at 50 or 60). like my mom's mom is still alive even with a bajillion different cancers residing in her body. so we're just not mentally prepared for losing her in her 60s when her cancer filled mom is near 80 and all of her grandparents were basically 79-100 when they died.
like other than an accident (which I guess you could argue that cancer is an accident of the body) we just didn't expect this to happen. and even with cancer.... like my nana is still here, she still is kicking despite having a million cancers since she was 49. in fact, my first distinct memory of my nana is her wearing the most atrocious red wig imaginable and scaring the shit out of me as a small child.
and she's still here! because her cancers have been able to be cut out. and my mom's hasn't for the most part. and it's just infuriatingly bad luck. because my mom has been healthy for the most part other than this. but that's been the case for almost everyone i've lost in the last few years. they were all in good health until they weren't.

today i wandered around downtown for like 45 mins sipping from the best latte i've bought in a while and I reminded myself of a few things:
-I live in a pretty gorgeous city, i should stop being a bitch about it
-spring is here
-life's actually good, and there's hope
-there's like a bazillion coffee shops i've never been to
so, remind yourself of the good things, as small as they are

i wish there were more weird little girls at work. i keep telling my coworkers "oh yeah i was just like them when i was little hahaha" in regards to excitable boys with impulse issues, but when the other day i was thinking "oh yeah there's Always going to be that one girl hanging out with the guys instead of other girls" i surveyed the room and realized we have never had any such thing, at least while i've been working here. which, granted, has only been two years, but it's still kind of surprising to me
#it never really occurred to me how gnc i was growing up behaviorally bc aesthetically i liked gender conformity#i arguably still like gender conformity today but i feel like if you have to argue For it being gender conforming it's automatically gnc#like. at least a Little Bit.#the worm speaks#we DO have a little boy who's always hanging out w/all the girls at work tho#like last year i chalked it up to him being really little but other boys his age are usually hanging out w/the other boys#anyway this post is actually abt this little boy at work who was chewing on his shirt all day yesterday#until it was soaked all the way down the front bc he couldn't find his chewy thing to bring to camp#and it unlocked my own childhood memories of doing that Exact Same Thing until i was like 8 or 9 too!!!!#he was kicking the table during a craft the other day n i was kind of exasperated but curious abt him bc he talks back a bit#n so i crouched down next to him n was like 'hey buddy. why are you kicking the table.' n he was like 'too much energy'#like immediately. and you have no idea how nice that was to hear bc FINALLY... A DIRECT ANSWER FOR BEHAVIORAL ISSUES...#n so i went n got permission from the other counselors n my boss n took him specifically to run around outside to let it all out#he slowed to a walk after like a minute n a half n i was like 'woah that was fast'#<-- was prepared to have to run around for 20 minutes#but he only said 'probably' when i asked if he could sit quietly when we got back so i said 'let's keep going until that's a definitely'#and you know what... he was well-behaved for the rest of the day when we got back#like initially i was exasperated w/him bc i had to tell him multiple times Consecutively not to do a thing. truly ruler of his own land#but then i started going 'yes and' with him when he got struck out in dodgeball and he started plotting revenge against a diff counselor LO#like yes he got up multiple times to sneak back into the game to throw balls at that specific counselor.#but he also kept missing and he'd come right back to the bench right after lamenting his failed schemes#which made me go 'oh he's not being willfully disobedient for the sake of it. he understands the idea of rules n a social contract'#'he is being disobedient bc he sees how farcidical it is to be perfectly stuffy abt rules' or smth like that#and also he has no impulse control bc he is a child that i am quite sure is neurodivergent godbless#but just the fact that he behaves himself very well when allowed to get his eccentricities out leads me to believe he's being raised well#...this could've just been a dreamwidth post lol

Apparently, my decision to be silly and make fanart of someone's writing (because I genuinely enjoy the story the person is writing and I was struck with inspiration upon reading a particular scene) has benevolent and wildly unforeseen consequences.
I apparently gained a bit of control of the canon because said writer really loved the art and decided what I drew/draw is canon.
2. Writer put said artwork into the document of his story right below the scene, so now it's IN the story where people who read the story will see it (with a link to me)
3. He sent the artwork to all his friends and people he knows because he was so excited
Wholesome interaction and I watched him do all that in real time, good stuff. However...there are two more consequences I was notified of today...nearly a full week after I gave the artwork.
Seeing the artwork caused his friends to become interested in reading and hearing about his story, which means more people are reading what he's writing and giving him critique on the story (which he actively asks for).
Apparently, upon seeing the art, his writer friends got a sudden second wind to pick back up writing they'd abandoned for a few months. Because, I quote, "seeing that someone enjoyed {his} writing enough to take the time to make art of it gave them the motivation that maybe THEY can write something that will inspire someone to also create something." I have accidentally caused a writing frenzy among his writer friends and my silly idea to make art for someone has had a butterfly effect for people who I don't even know.
Uhh...I'm pretty sure there's a moral here but I am tired and have a great deal of emotions about this.

Katsuki had a sixth sense when you were mad. It was like a struck on his head that evolved in being the biggest clown of all. He actually enjoyed riling you up so when you have your back turned to him with your shoulder stiff, He knows he has a job to do.
"Bad day at work, Princess?" He says using your given nickname when you aren't in the mood.
"Shut up, Katsuki," you say, cutting the onions with precision
Ok, ground control done. You called him Katsuki so you are mad but not extremely mad.
"Oh baby, what did I do?" His sultry voice coming from behind, his hands starting to press onto your lower back.
"You know exactly what you did, now back the hell off. I have a knife in my hand, " you warn.
Katsuki smirks carefully, making sure that you don't see him. If you see him enjoying himself at your expenses, he's done for good.
"Are you mad?" He asks the obvious. His hands going up from your hips to your ribcage right under your breasts, his breath fanning above your neck and cleverage.
"I'm not mad, I'm pissed at you," you murmur, chopping the garlic and the bell peppers.
"Mm baby," he grunts in your ear, spreading kisses at your neck and behind your ear.
"Oh no, uh-uh." You wiggle your body from his grip. "Don't baby me"
You turn around to look at your boyfriend without leaving the knife in the counter table. He raises his hands in defense, quirking his brow at you.
The way your body looks tiny beside him is amusing. You can't stay mad at him for much longer, so you need to focus on the problem and not in his enormous and gorgeous body.
"Drop the knife sweets, you ain't hurting nobody, I'll do anything to make those lines in your face dissappear." he flicks his finger in your forehead and then leaves it there to dissipate your expression lines.
You know he's messing with you right now because he knows he did something wrong, and Katsuki learned a while ago that the solutions when he's the one who's guilty aren't spatting and bickering back at you. The solution is using his charm and handsy manners with you.
"Use your words, baby." The finger that was in your forehead traced a path down to your lips and to your neck, right above your neckline in between the beginning of your boobs.
You sigh because it's better than moaning. He's so annoying.
"Fucking fine" you mutter. "If you're going to drop your gauntlets in the entryway, leave them on the side, I almost fall today because I stumbled on them"
He can't help but cackle at the mental picture of that.
"Hey! It's not funny, you asshole. " You smack his big arm while he dodges you easily to engulf you and embrace you inside his big arms.
"Jeez, so squirmy," he says, keeping you still while he kisses the top of your head. "No more heavy gear on the entryway ma'am," he mumbles against your hair.
