They’re just starting out so there’s not very many comics so far, but it looks like many are very beautiful! I recommend checking them out and if you want to, I encourage other fan comics artists to post there to expand the catalog!

yall... i hate to say it but i am just getting a bit tired of people gendering some of the only agender rep i see... like i don't want to be a buzzkill for people's fanon interpretations it just does take a bit out of me sometimes to see characters that exist outside of gender (robots mostly but also other non-human things) pushed into a gender binary. idk. it hurts as someone who already struggles to see themselves in any media ever.

this isn't directed at any one person or character btw just irritation with a trend ive seen in some fandom spaces. it's not all about me and my feelings but it's my blog and i wanted to lament a bit

Hmmm, hard question!

I won't go into detail about headcanons I don't like because bad characterization irks me in general and the rest is silly little preferences, but I'm admittedly not a big fan of the way people tend to interpret Jake's relationship to femininity/masculinity or his attachment style.

As for my fave headcanons, I couldn't choose only one, so you get all of these for the price of one (!!!):

- Twink to twunk/hunk/bear progression, my beloved!

- I like my Jakes buff, hairy, pretty and with dimples and gappy Duchenne smiles (Harlenglish Crockerbert genes, baby!). Big hands too!

- Beauty marks deserve their own bullet point. In italics. Bold. UNDERLINED!!! (... what can I say, I'm weak for the stuff...)

- (←Grandpa fan) I also really enjoy the white streaks and graying hair in fanart <3

- Jake wears eccentric, but not effortless fashion. Intentional messiness is part of the brand; think dandy meets old Hollywood glamour meets Lara Croft meets socks-with-sandals grill dad.

- He's not a dumb blonde (←metaphorically speaking), but he's so good at pretending (and it's sooo convenient at times) that he has ended up internalising the cluelessness. Also, the show must go on. Always!

- He can be very affectionate and sappy, but he gets overwhelmed by attention fairly easily and it takes him an extra effort to initiate candid/intimate gestures himself. This, of course, stems from his commitment issues! (and I guess his Other Issues, but it doesn't mean he abhors closeness!)

- On that same note: He enjoys the spotlight when it comes with self-agency. Similarly, he finds some comfort in relinquishing control, but not at the expense of trust.

- Accidental green thumb + can't drive for shit!

- Articulate drunk!

- Overall, I like it when Jake is portrayed as an incoherent and often self-contradictory mess with a knack for theatrics and misplaced performance anxiety!

What a silly guy, love him to pieces!!!

I'm glad I helped even if I wasn't intending to write a meta piece lol, but simply note how the few maps/convos worked very well to depict the character.

TBH, after browsing stuff here and there on redshit, I was expecting a different character than the one I ultimately end up with, and I started to wonder if this wasn't another issue of "Rhage" case : aka, being sold a character with certain traits that are praised or flanderized in fandom, when those traits are... not that present in the game, or straight up added by the loc.

Granted, without access to the JP script, I can only compare with mine and the tone/direction of the JP audio.

I already noted it with the line to Aubin, but why the frick the loc decided to make her ruder?

Like,

Virginia meets Joseph to discuss about the plan he had, to basically wait until her nemesis leaves his fortress to take it while it's empty, because what is most important is taking the fortress, not killing the bastard general.

But for Virginia, it's personal and she wants her revenge against the dude, thus she doesn't want to let this chance to rekt him slip away.

Now, she's much more incisive and rude to Joseph in the US version :

Sure the French script isn't the jp one, but with the jp audio there's no condescending tone or insulting the plan, she's just resuming it.

I'm in no way fluent in Japanese, but whatever Virginia was saying here was definitely not "spineless old man" to someone she respects and deep inside knows is right and reasonable when she cannot be in this situation.

I'm wondering if she wasn't thought to be a "#badass woman" and localised as such aka being unecessarly rude and haughty when upset.

Rapport convos are not voiced so I'm a bit more blind when it comes to them, but the "vile temptress" to Scarlett introducing her to a caterpillar seems odd (unless "temptress" means something else than the accepted meaning of someone seducing others?) just like the "loathsome ingrate" to Aramis after his prank (why "ingrate"? Was he supposed to be grateful for something?), but I'll need to check them out too.

Much like the Jugdral era and its characters, usually I wouldn't complain about minor change X or Y of a word or two, but when the characters don't have a lot of script/lines... well, we're supposed to work with scraps, and each word becomes important so...

Tl;DR : when it comes to some characters, I feel like trying to talk about Fodlan like are we talking about the same characters...
