What's with this sudden uptick in "any fanfic depiction is a deliberate slight against the source material that should be condemned" I'm seeing across fandom in general and how the fuck do I opt out of seeing it

Which are some of your unpopular opinions?
hmm well i don't think most of my takes are that hot tbh. our community here is pretty small so there's usually some overlap with head canons/fanon, etc. most of us are on the same page, or at least in the same chapter lmao. which is great! and even when i see a take i might not wholeheartedly agree with, i feel like it's still added to my subconscious lore to be explored later.
right off the bat, i guess one hot take might be that i find the theme song pretty grating 👀 i skip it every time. it's probably because ive heard it so many times since i was a kid up to now. i don't even really have a nostalgic or sentimental attachment to it at this point.
all my mutuals know this already, but season 1 is my favorite season, which i don't think is the case for most fans. i made a whole long post about that already though.
im already drawing a blank here ummmm
well, i probably have a lower opinion of edd's parents than most people in our little community. realistically it makes more sense that they're simply absent (neglectful) due to their demanding jobs, and that they work hard to give edd a good life, etc. but i tend to view it as more of a malicious, conscious choice. i like angst and drama, what can i say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
this one isn't really a hot take these days, especially among the tumblr crowd, but i like when edd is portrayed as the morally complex character that he is. i don't think he's all good or all bad. he's way more realistically ambiguous than that. i'd say i do lean towards him being a bit more devious than most though.
moving more into head canon territory here, but
i don't talk about this one a lot because it's totally projection, but i think edd would have issues with alcohol. between his autism, his ocd and his unloving parents, i think he'd hit the bottle a little too hard after realizing how much he likes the way it makes him feel. but he'll work through it eventually don't worry.
uhhhh let's see
again, not a scorching hot take here, but i enjoy edmay, and it's not because i don't want ed to be a "third wheel" (he's lowkey a third wheel in the show, but anyway-), it's because they're cute. that simple. i'm totally cool with ed being asexual, and i think it fits his character a bit more tbh. but i really like may, and i think her experience as the sort of outcast among her sisters is a good match for ed's experience as somewhat of an outcast even among his already outcast friend group. i think they make a very cute, very weird, and probably very smelly couple.
i have sympathy for bro! i think many of us do, but yeah. obviously he's really shitty towards eddy and even the other kids, but you don't just wake up one day and decide to be a "monster". he's clearly got trauma and issues of his own and while that's not an excuse, it's worth acknowledging. i'm fascinated by eddy and bro's dynamic and it's one of my favorite things to analyze and speculate about.
to me, it's likely that eddy would try to date girls in middle/high school, perhaps even beyond. i don't see him and edd even really addressing their deeper feelings until after graduation because of eddy's internalized homophobia and deep-seated denial of his sexuality. he'd still be worried about what people think in that regard. idk, i know a lot of folks see them being together shortly after bps, or even in high school but personally i don't see it. like edd knows how he feels, but he's not gonna push it. he'll let eddy figure it out on his own. plus it's amusing to imagine how awkward it would be for eddy and the poor girls that fall victim to his farce.
you'd think i'd have more hot takes about eddy but i think i post most of my thoughts about him pretty openly lol.
oh, i kinda hesitate to bring this one up cuz it's hard to explain or back up with much evidence, but PERSONALLY, i think eddy is pretty smart. i love to harp on his malapropisms as much as the next guy, and obviously he's immature and all the other negative adjectives associated with teenage boys. but he's very clever and witty, and like most kids with terrible trauma, "wise beyond his years". he's inventive and resourceful. he's good at analyzing people (in some circumstances) and learning what makes them tick. and despite being unable to come up with an example at the moment, sometimes the words and phrases he uses, and just generally the way he talks is more....advanced? than you'd expect from someone who can't spell "respect". i dunno, i'm sure at some point i'll make a long-winded post about this subject but suffice to say, eddy is smarter than he gets credit for.
but yeah nothing super controversial i wouldn't say. i have some weirder headcanons that im sure ill blab about at some point, but for the most part like i said, im pretty outspoken with my eene opinions. thanks for asking!!

am i the only one who has a boiling hatred for fanon ghostbur?
Like--- I'm neutral about canon ghostbur.
But i really really hate how so many people went as far as saying that Ghostbur was all the good parts of Wilbur.
That is just so wrong---- ghostbur has the good memories, but not all the good parts. it just drives me nuts.
ghostbur wasn't good for c!tommy or anyone coping with wilbur's death
it wasn't his fault, but people need to stop depicting him as they do
ohohoho i specifically waited to get to this until i had my laptop because i love me some character analysis! so. lets talk ghostbur!
disclaimer: these are opinions, i didnt write the character, this is just how id analyze ghostbur and audience portrayal of him
so something i think people dont note about ghostbur a lot is the fact that he is not wilbur in a much more real sense than people realize. something that revivebur kind of touches on but people dont really note (in my opinion) is the way the memories and your actions during memories actually shape you as a person. ghostbur could never be all the good parts of wilbur because without the negative memories, he could never have knowledge of how he can be good in negative scenarios, like being good towards tommy in darker times. this is one of the biggest things that makes ghostbur not healthy for the characters around him, and why wilbur being revived is so important to wilbur's overall character arc
ghostbur is the image of wilbur if he never dealt with significant problems, never caused problems or engaged in them, because he only has good memories, he's never seen himself in a negative situation (think to how ghostbur reacts to philza telling him fundy wants to be "adopted" by someone else (i cant remember who at the moment))
when people tell him of his own negative consequences, he literally cannot react in a way of genuine remorse. he feels guilt because he learns that the living version of himself did those things, but he cant actually give any apology that would be beneficial to anyone involved. ghostbur cant apologize for something he cant remember doing because he doesn't know why he acted in those ways.
we can contrast this with when revivebur tries to later apologize (im thinking particularly to fundy) and how when fundy asks why he did those things, he tells him about how he wasn't well mentally. even though fundy doesn't accept the apology (in a very. drastic way), revivebur can actually acknowledge his own motivations, which allows him to actually have a chance as being forgiven.
ghostbur doesnt know any of those motivations, which is why his character is unhealthy. he is literally a ghost of the man he once was, so even though people want genuine answers, before knowing he was going to be revived, they had to realize that ghostbur is basically a punching bag for them to push their issues with c!wilbur onto because ghostbur cant actually respond in any meaningful way in terms of remorse and forgiveness.
also, as for the audience portrayal, i think people got very caught up on the "sweet ghost boy" image rather than what he actually is and how he actually affects the characters. he literally haunts them and reminds them of all the trauma c!wilbur gave them, while knowing that he can't actually answer for any of it because he doesn't remember hurting them
its a very famous philosophical argument (i believe by kant) about the concept of "if someone has no memory of committing a crime, can they actually serve time for it?" because if you have no memory of doing something, can you actually learn from and grow from your experiences?
because ghostbur cant. and thats what hurts the people around him so much. people like c!tommy and c!philza who geniunely care about c!wilbur and want him to be okay know that ghostbur is not that answer because he can't grow from memories he doesnt remember playing a part in, so it hurts to see someone you love be constantly stuck in place of never being able to grow and never being able to answer for all the things you want to ask.
ghostbur is so important to c!wilburs arc because he reminds people not to seek justice on those who can't answer for it. some people actually recognize this, some don't, and some just avoid him like a plague because it hurts.

your steven interpretation is boring and fits into the fanon characterization of steven, i wish you would be a little more unique with how you write him :(((((((
i do Not feel like this is true bc fanon steven is like nothingburger sexy guy or yandere... esque?? or things like that that make him very shallow and one note . And not super depressed and mentally ill as he would be. literally like Fanon Steven is Not my steven and my steven is also very near and dear to my heart bc hes a comfort character who i had when i was going through a lot of shit! Like Actually! I think about him a lot! And a lot of the things i do w him are lifted from canon and the ways i interpret and analyze the og story. not a lot of the fanon or fandom stuff ... Does that. a lot of it is very divorced from stevens struggles and story and the fact its a tragedy in favor of shipping or whatever else. they do not give steven realistic struggles.
also bc i havent properly written steven in ages. idk if you read my headcanons or analysis'. Read Those if so. I dont actually write shit almost ever especially now i do not write him as a character bc i like to think about him and how hed do things, i dont like to Write him.
my keyboard is broken i am tired and depressed and dont really have many ideas for things to write with him bc i exhausted a lot of them. i still think about steven daily though, im mostly focused on my self indulgent shit i write because thats all all of this was. sharing my self indulgent shit with people who are fighting for Crumbs of steven.
i think ab him more than almost anybody else seems to in this fandom other than a few people i personally know ( shout out to like 3-4ish people ) and a few others i dont personally know. There are not many people i know who have the same headcanons and a lot that did i think took it from me? which is kinda funny. i dont own steven having bpd but i think its a thing i popularized more for example afaik. i see little bits of my headcanons rippling into other peoples and its fun
Also what the fuck do you mean 'boring' what do you want the depressed adult ass man to do when hes isolated. Sorry that he is not dancing for ur entertainment? Sorry that hes not a crazed serial murderer!!! when... he.. Wouldnt be he only really killed mike and nobody takes doors open as canon ever bc its stupid. I have no idea what you mean by boring. the fuck would an 'interesting' interpretation be. i am not interested in entirely redoing his concept as a character or his story nor am i fucking rewriting strangled red or am ever interested in it bc i think its fine on its own and whenever anyone tries its usually... Not good. Even ( and especially ) when smr did it LOL ( thankfully he never got to strangled red proper ).
i dont like a lot of people that do that unless it has a reason because i think the og story is perfectly fine untouched even if some parts could be elaborated on or explained better, but i dont think you have to shove super big changes to things like 'missingno is actually a conscious entity that talks to him!!! mike DID kill her' Like this detracts from a lot of the story and things that do that at least in my opinion make it.. more boring. its fine if people like that but its not for me. you dont need to make strangled red more dramatic and explain away everything. some of the vagueness is the fun of it.
i just wanted to share headcanons and my own projections that i think would fit him to the world bc nobody really thought about steven in the way i did.
i know a lot of people really love my steven interp and think hes unique so i think you just dislike it. Which can be a thing you can do i dont give a shit. I would also probably dislike whatever yours is! Im very picky with steven interpretations! ok not really people just dont genuinely write him as a full-fledged character very often. i am not making 'content' for people. im just sharing what i want to. if that doesnt appeal to you make your own shit! You probably wont find a lot of people writing whatever you want steven to be so you should do it for yourself bc thats how i got here.
if im taking this very personally or sound like it im mostly jsut really confused. and also bc i half-am but i dont care that much. Bc like. What do you want me to do...? Im not going to suddenly rewrite the entirety of my own personal interpretation of a character ive loved for almost 2 years straight now for someone else. i barely use this blog anymore! except when i want to post analysis or headcanons. its self-indulgent! but i still sure do think about steven deeply and intimately even if it for some reason feels like i dont. i think the autistic analyzation of the og writing should paint that im like serious about it.
anyways, there was not much of a reason to send this if youre so upset i dont write steven content the way you want ( and you probably would also have a lot of ideas i wouldnt agree with. ) Then send me 50 dollars NOW! [ if it wasnt obvious this is a joke. ]

for the choose violence ask game: 6, 7, 14 & 24
thank you for asking <33
6. which ship fans are the most annoying?
that varies wildly depending on what fandom we’re talking about. the j//marts drive me insane, like i love some of yall but at the same time they are Not like that.
na//lu is so. please let them exist as characters outside of each other. please please please please please please please. not everything is nalu yes they’re cute but also. please
xiao//lumi is great and i love them however trying to find any sort of in character xiao content is miserable.
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
martin. just a bit. i enjoy canon martin and i think he’s compelling i just think fanon martin is like a 2d version of himself.
fandom has also made me dislike natsu a bit too cause i am a certified Lucy Girlie and im so tired of people not letting lucy exist without natsu
14. that one thing you see in fics all the time
mdom 😔
24. topic that brings up the most rancid discourse
age and gender dynamics. some people do not understand what can make age gaps problematic and just think “ah yes if people are not the same age that is bad” that’s not how it works. and some of the most horrific takes i’ve ever seen are related to age and maturity and all that.
gender dynamics is one that just pisses me off as a gender studies major, a queer person, and a femdom enjoyer. why is femdom a kink and mdom natural. why don’t yall tag your mdom. why doesn’t anyone analyze their internalized misogyny. and transmisogyny. and lesbophobia. and just all of it.

what was that anon talking abt about how eruri shippers are white supremacists or the ship is tied into white supremacy? I dont like the ship either but I've never seen that (im not saying it doesnt exist or that I dont believe them at all, I'm just curious). Can you please elaborate if you know what they were referring to? /genq
On a different subject- just some constructive criticism, your response to that anon left a really bad taste in my mouth because you made your dislike of a random ship about how the Evil Gays are trying to "advance their agenda" through gay shipping...I get what youre trying to say but that is a REALLY loaded phrase in relation to gay issues, as were several other phrases you used, for example, saying gay shippers are delusional, biased, and self centered for projecting their sexualities onto characters. I also hate when ppl misunderstand characters canon relationships and try to pretend their fanon ships are supported by canon. I also hate eruri bc personally I just do not like the ship. But blaming gay people for it is more than a little fucked up lol like you could just say you hate eruri without dragging all gay people into it and making this statement about how the gays are evil for experiencing fandom in a way that you dont like. ESPECIALLY since straight people never have to worry about representation, while a lot of queer ppl "project" their sexualities onto canon characters due to a LACK of that representation. I'm sorry but someone saying "I think Levi is gay" LITERALLY does not hurt you at all, while it might be extremely validating and beneficial to somebody else. If you want to make posts critically analyzing AoT and discussing aspects of the fandom you don't like, you also have to analyze your own biases and how they might affect your posting.
I don't know what they're referring to, as I said. I've never seen any "white supremacy" in the eruri fandom. People love to throw that term around. They love to see racism everywhere.
Look, I'm going to get blunt here, because this is basically the second time in as many weeks that I've been criticized for using general language when referring to a general group, and accused of targeting a specific group. That's an assumption on your part because you're looking to be offended.
When I say "they" and "them", I'm talking about shippers IN GENERAL. ANY SHIP. Not just "gay" shippers or "gay" ships. And I'm not talking about shippers as a whole, but the ones who attack others for not accepting their ship as canon. And when I say people are projecting themselves onto these characters, again, I'm referring to people in general who do this. Whether that's their sexual orientation, or gender identity, or whatever. People project all the time, and then want to force their view of these characters, super-imposed with their own, personal traits, down everyone else' throats. I'm talking specifically about the group of fans who attack everyone and anyone who doesn't accept their headcanon version of these characters as canon. Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. You do.
I never blamed gay people for anything, ffs. I never said gay people are "evil". What's "fucked up" is you putting words in my mouth that I never said and then accusing me of being homophobic based on these made up words. I never said people calling Levi gay is hurting me, either. I said focusing on his sexuality and making his sexuality the most essential aspect of his person when discussing his character is distracting and potentially leads to bad interpretation because it literally has no bearing ON his character. His sexual orientation is irrelevant to who he is. People who make their entire identity about who they want to have sex with or who they're attracted to will often project that onto fictional characters, and then get mad at anyone who doesn't do the same. You're doing it right now. And when said characters sexuality has nothing to do with who they are as a character, doing this is harmful to ones ability TO UNDERSTAND said character.
I'm not biased toward gay people. Again, that's all you making assumptions because you want to be offended.
And I don't hate eruri. How hard is it for you to read? I've stated multiple times, in multiple different ways, that I've both written and read countless eruri fics. Some of my favorite AoT fics are eruri and it's the ship I primarily engage with when reading AoT fic. But I guess you just missed that little detail. Convenient for you, since it doesn't support your desire to see me as some homophobic bigot who's insensitive to the gays.
But whatever, I guess.

like and when people get mad at the valid criticisms of her. it's like, I'm sorry the character you created is not the one in the show?? she doesn't have enough/anything that makes her likable enough to outweigh the things in canon that make her unlikable! like no thanks!
"she's just the vessel for the writers shitty idea of what a strong woman looks like" soo true though. every attempt falls flat, or upholds stereotypes and her inability to look outside her own experiences
the fucksibdjdjfkdkg "my friends call me jj. you're not my friend you can call me jennifer"
its so fucking elementary afsgdghdjfh 9 year olds say worse to each other. it's not the slay moment everyone thinks it is
one instance in particular i can't stand is in s3ep14, they're at that carnival for rossi's case, and derek says "I can't believe people waste good money on these fixed games" and girlboss jj says "men" "its not people it's men" "only a man would waste $50 trying to win that $3 stuffed animal"
and just. parents. parents bring their kids to carnivals all the time. to have fun and win shitty prizes. oh but I forgot she wasn't a mom yet, so that wasn't her entire personality. I don't know. for me it just never hits as the girlboss moment every one thinks it is. but go off I guess afsghdhfkh
I've fallen out of it with cm a little lately, but unfortunately it will always have some hold on my soul lmao, and I got caught up in reading through your takes, and truly, this show fucking sucks, but analyzing it can be sO fun and you drop nothing but bangers. it reminded me in a way why I like this god awful show in the first place afgsgrhfjfjgshf
like if anyone gave me a single solid reason to like her character at all i might give her a chance. but i’ve been watching cm for a decade, and kept a finger on the pulse of the fandom for half that. so far ive heard absolutely no legitimate thing to like about her
even fanon jj falls flat for me? she’s so one dimensional and they never address any of her flaws. people either make her the target of emily’s infatuation (which is so fucked up on so many levels?? as if we need any more of the aggressive/obsessive lesbian stereotype) or they keep her as the mom of the group and leave it at that. absolutely NO nuance!! im convinced its bc they know we’re right… actually giving her a personality would mean acknowledging how insufferable she us
imo the best thing you can do with her character is actually talk about her internal conflicts. she’s got massive imposter syndrome and she takes it out on everyone!! thats interesting at least!! lets talk about that!! but nooo bc that would mean admitting everyones favorite blonde haired blue eyes beauty makes mistakes
god ur so right in that aaaaaall her girlboss moments are just so pathetic. i love to tear those moments to pieces because its just so fucking easy. clearly shitty attempts at the writers thinking theyre saying something clever or profound. it scares me how frequently the fandom falls for it. like. develop some critical thinking skills pls i am begging
im also well out of my cm phase, but its still so deeply engrained that even when i havent watched an ep in months, my opinions are as strong as ever especially since theyre always so correct. but yeah there’s something so special about cm? i think its all the half-suggested hints at something deeper that gives us a chance to try and build on it. but its also so casually entertaining that its also nice to just have on in the background. criminal minds is as good as you make it, ig

I'm going to be repeating similar criticisms I had on my post I had a bit ago so yeah but I'll try to flesh them out a bit, I do not analyze homestuck so sorry if I fuck up the information a little.
I feel like a lot of people forgot why the epilogues and Homestuck 2 are the way they are so let me just say that when homestuck ended there was actually a lot of unsatisfied and upset people because they think the ending sucked and wanted more from it. Instead of fighting the Big Bad (tm) they take an alternative ending and escape the narrative, creating a new path for themselves. People really wanted Hussie to continue it at the very least and didnt want it to end this way and kept pestering them about it. That is your rundown. The epilogues in a way is a massive troll. a way to say " Oh you want it to continue no matter what? sure. here you go " It was meant to piss you off and it worked, many people hated the epilogues and homestuck 2 because it was so shitty and ruined their characters when that is the entire point. Some people know this and still think it was done in a really stupid way but personally I loved it.
So this is kind of why I dislike where the new team is going with Homestuck 2 because at its core its going against the entire reasoning or Homestuck 2 existing. The entire thing has been a fix-it fic so far, where it feels like everyones getting their highlight and attention and suddenly things are going well. Fans are getting a lot of headcanons and desires for homestuck 2 made canon, and that.. is exactly why I dont like it.
They're trying to do so many things and tie up so many "loose ends" that things are being rushed and the writing is not great. I enjoyed the first update and it began to go downhill from there. I maybe laugh a little, but I don't feel connected to any of these characters or what theyre dealing with because a lot of it is just not.. shown? and some of it is just so out of the blue? You're telling me jake is just like.. Okay now? we needed a single update where he talks to BGD to make him okay and maybe reach ultimate status, which is ultimate dirks entire desire to never let happened and is why jake gets some of the worst treatment narratively? And the whole thing with vriska... Years are passing by in these conversations, yet the only taste we are getting is that core moment things were supposedly building up to, yet we dont get to see the build up were just supposed to infer shit happened and she knows better now. We are rushing vriskas development which is like.. Attempting to give vriska a redemption wouldve failed no matter what, not every character in a piece of media needs a redemption , she just needs to stop being a 16 year old about everything, i think she is allowed to be a bit of a bitch, amen. I have so many thoughts about the handling of vriska and thats all how ill summarize it.
The references and jokes are also like.. So new generation and listen, I never thought homestuck was as "timeless" with the jokes and references as people say it was, but Homestuck 2 is going to age horribly fast. The characters like davepeta and whatever are all quite fanonized and it really feels like fans puppeting empty characters. I feel like there is a huge push to bring back the essence of homestuck but it just cannot be replicated.
I hope, I truly hope, that homestuck 2 is going to do a 360 and end like " hey the fandom fuck you were doing this for you and look how much your desires for more homestuck suck and whatever ! " a sort of "taking the comic back from the fandom" thing and all the characters act more normal afterwards, but I do not see it, and I will be a little sad If i predicted the entire thing.
Sorry for the typos and whatever we are at a brunch and im just putting my train on thought onto paper.
what if i dont like Homestuck 2 anymore. what if I said i thought the old version was better

sometimes i think it’s the fanon characterization of deku that people hate more than canon deku. cause i’ve definitely caught myself getting annoyed with the ‘he’s a sweet baby who can do no wrong, we must protect the cinnamon roll’ attitude you see so often on here!
but then when i look at canon deku i remember that it’s the fans that kinda make him out to be that to no fault of his own. Deku himself is very much, like you said, a super complex character. He’s reckless, impulsive, obsessive, and has a super unhealthy idealization of what it means to be a hero that usually puts himself and others in danger.
and all of those flaws are addressed and shown to have consequences. i think people just refuse to look any deeper than the smiling kid who cries a lot and got bullied in middle school.
god this. god god.
sorry i have so many thoughts. but i find this to be so important cause it's like yeah. so true so real so honest. and i think this is a great time to mention why discussing and analyzing popular fanon characterizations is so important lol.
a lot of the time you're met with "well why do you care." and its like idk bro cause i love these shows. im cringe and i enjoy and actively care for the fan culture for this media enough to want to be civil and talk through it lol. why does anyone care about anything DLKSD
when fandom adopts particularly biases and defaults and become so far removed from canon like.. it creates bad juju you know. it just gets so bogged down and simplified. idk!!! im very passionate about it but i agree

Omg I didn't know you still somewhat post on this blog! Lowkey not to be mean, but how come you still talk about Aphmau if you don't even like the canon stuff??
Don't get me wrong, headcanons are nice n' all, but you seem aggressively passionate that your interpretations should of been canon. (Than again I'm just probably over looking this lol)
i mean like it's a sideblog so i still get all the notifications and just post whenever i want to. i have a full time job though and i dont post on tumblr that much in general so i just dont that often
this is the reason i dont post on here much and its because fanon is so deeply fucking ingrained in this fandom that no one does ANYTHING besides headcanons and i legitimately believe i do not stray that far from canon. i fucking love canon mystreet, it's absolutely balls to the walls insane, but no one seems to be able to analyze it with like nuance. i've had people in the past, in an attempt to appease me through what they thought were my views be like "youre right aarmau should break up / jess should write them better" like ARE YOU KIDDING ME 100% no the only reason mystreet is interesting is because its fucking insane and sucks
the only real headcanon i can think of that is the one in question here is "aaron is gay" which like yes i do think that but i don't think like mystreet should be rewritten to have openly gay aaron like at the point it is currently at it is interpretable to see him as a closeted gay man. even if this is canon i don't think he WOULD or even really SHOULD come out in canon at least at the trajectory its on. it is fundementally a framework to view the series that makes it make more sense i've said this before i'm not really a headcanons guy i don't have a lot of headcanons i have like... interpretations of canon events but i never think it's unfounded
tl;dr im literally fine with canon mystreet i love it (derogatory) not to be like "the problem is everyone else and not me" but the core appeal is that everyone sucks and is irredeemable a la iasip (which is literally jason's favourite show) which is not very palatable for cute or wholesome content unless you change it which i think a lot of people do. no shade. the fandom just doesn't like the kind of stuff i like, by and large

☕️ caleb
in sake of keeping my selfawerness when im trying to analyze a character, i know that i have two perspectives in my mind about him: the canon one and the one created by the fandom. the canon one is okay. im not deeply invested in him, but its a decent character. i do think that liam has a tendency to "constant angst" and that, personally bores me a little. it makes me a bit insensitive to "real time angst" and it makes me less close to his characters. but i think that now thats changing a bit, thank god. im enjoying caleb a bit more than before. and talking about the vision that the fandom has of him.....i hate it. it bores me to death. i dont like any of the attention that caleb gets in the fandom, im already zzz about it. lots of people make everything about him,. especially involving characters like molly or beau and i just....cant. especially with a character that im not at all fascinated by, so its like really? u can see that? with that boring character? ok i guess. anyways i stand on what i side, fanon caleb is SO much worse than fanon mollymauk. molly is dead. you can do so little with him. caleb is alive and has a full storyline. he gets the attention that molly wont have. AND, i have to deal with the fandom making everything about him? nah. blocked.

Okay this is a great analysis and you definitely know a lot about mbti but I have to say that you’re not talking about Dabi as he exists in canon, but in fanon. Also Shigaraki is NOT a planner or a thinker he’s such an INFP… he’s so impulsive and he doesn’t plan SHIT! He has no concrete plan apart from kill All Might and his way of doing that is chaotic and largely unplanned. AFO is the only reason he has any strategy at all.
But this is about Dabi. And I have to disagree with pretty much everything you said about his internal narrative. Also I’m an introvert and a drama queen so I know they aren’t mutually exclusive but this man is like the definition of an extrovert with issues connecting with people. His behavior may sometimes seem introverted but that stems largely from his desire not to connect with people due to trauma. He’s reserved because he doesn’t want people to get close but he thrives on attention, that’s a defining character trait. He needs attention and interaction. He’s not nearly as introspective as you think either, and that shows in his emotional state and his views. While his brain seems to attack him with thoughts emotions and thoughts about them hes avoids thinking too deeply about them. Which is why he has such a twisted view of… well everything. He dwells on shit, but he doesn’t truly contemplate it.
Now in terms of thinking vs feeling I’ll admit I have a harder time discerning them because… honestly I’m split 51% feeling and 49% thinking. Like I said, his goals are determined by his feelings and you agreed, but beyond his obsession with his family which I would say is attributed to trauma more than his actual personality, he’s not impulsive or emotionally driven. What looks like impulsiveness is really just quick decision making and apathy. Which is where the judging comes in for me.
Now because im adhd and I didn’t take my adderall im gonna just address that closing statement. “He is deeply emotional, present-focused, and driven by personal values more than logic or broader plans.”
Every single thing about that statement is just… so wrong (im sorry not trying to be rude but I just can’t sugar coat this I really respect you but… this is not dabi did we watch the same show?!)
He has a long term focus most of the time. Getting into the end of season 6 and where we currently are in canon, sure he’s a bit more in the present but that’s because this is the culmination of all his long term planning!
He has NO personal values at all. He doesn’t care about other people, he cares about his own goals (he disguises it as having values but he doesn’t, he’s hurt and he wants to hurt his dad and brother and that’s the end of it.)
His emotions and trauma determined his goals, but the way he chases them is logical and methodical and has been in the works for literal years. He doesn’t let anything distract him or get in his way.
Okay I think the problem here is that mha has truly awful writing. It’s hard to properly analyze because it doesn’t actually have coherent writing or logic. So differences in opinion are bound to come up when trying to make sense of something so inherently senseless. But seriously Dabi is so NOT an isfp if you pay attention and separate trauma and mental illness from his personality.
I think both Shoto and Fuyumi Todoroki are INFJs
Dabi is def an ENTJ
And I don’t know enough about Natsuo to say what he is
I don’t know why I spent time figuring this out and idk why I’m posting it but here you go.

im sorry about sending you an ask about how I thought bellarke might be a 6 season arc. You publish asks all the time and tell the anons you think theyre wrong. (and you dont coddle them when doing so..) I honestly didnt know you would think it offensive, i was only looking for an interesting discussion maybe. i didnt even have anything to back my theory like you do, only a gut feeling. I just wanted to know your opinion.
I’m getting really frustrated with fandom is the problem. I wasn’t offended by your ask really, or I would have blocked you. I try not to jump to offense. Although it’s hard sometimes when some people DO mean to cause offense.
But I’m tired of wanting to enjoy Bellarke, wanting to believe in Bellarke and having people constantly tell me it’s not happening, bellarke fans even. Tell my my spec is wrong. Or say it’s something else.
I’ve decided NOT to be an open forum for anyone with an analysis, because this fandom is too antagonistic and negative. That means I sometimes don’t want to debate with people who aren’t being antagonist or negative but just want to discuss. I am sorry. Public discourse is exhausting. It’s probably better if you send me a DM to talk about it, where we can actually have a conversation, not just one anon comment and then me having to defend my meta.
And I’m tired of writing reams on how I see the structure going and spending hours putting the pieces together to come up with a theory that is backed up with evidence and then having people go, “NO, I disagree,” and then disputing me and expecting me to debate them, when I just put all my energy into my previous theory. It’s all there. That’s my argument. I don’t have a counter argument. I don’t want to debate.
Your points are disputing what I already said. But what I said is STILL my answer. What else do I have to say but repeating what I worked really hard on already.
TBH I don’t even know WHICH ask you sent me, because I’ve gotten a FEW. The more often I get a certain comment, the more frustrated I’m going to get with it, especially if it’s along a certain line and that line is, “I know you said/believe/ship this but I think you’re wrong and here’s what I think.” Especially when I’ve just posted a whole bunch saying the opposite of your comment.
And you know what? I do sometimes agree with people who come up with new ideas and spec and analysis. So maybe that’s what you’re looking at. But if the new spec is DISPUTING what I just said, without ever actually addressing what I said, or bringing up a point with my meta that you are concerned with? Just substituting it with yours? That’s not a discussion, is it? That’s a “no it’s not.” I’m gonna get frustrated. And tired.
You’ve got to give me a REASON to consider your analysis over mine. I need to see evidence. Or a question about what doesn’t work with mine that got you thinking. Because the thing is, I don’t just RANDOMLY come up with my meta. It’s not just “oh this is a cool idea.” I am basing my meta on evidence I see in the text and in storytelling. So if you can’t address the evidence I’m using, and can’t give me your own evidence, the new theory is just “oh look I had a cool thought and I’m going with it.” Cool thoughts don’t do me. That’s not actually how you analyze stuff. In order to analyze you have to be clear about canon/data. You are analyzing CANON. Cool thoughts are spec or fanon, not analysis. And i’m not arguing them.

40 Questions - Meme for Shippers
1. Talk about the first ship you ever had.
oh man. i had ships growing up and all, but i always feel like my first Ship was faberry, which i’ve shipped from the glee pilot. more so bc it helped introduce me to the idea of fandoms and what ships Mean in a way - next to kurtofsky, but that came later. And I think faberry really defined me as a shipper, bc it taught me to look deeper into canon analyze it and look for meaning cause ya know, it was never Really canon, but it was There, everything was There and it made sense and it motivated me to go look for more so yeah.
5. Do you have any poly ships?
a few yeah. tm/root/shaw, fuinnchel, angel/fred/faith, even barbara/tabitha/butch to an extent. they’re not usually the ships i’m most invested on, but they’re definitely valid and they should be more present on both canon and fanon. i feel like if fandoms started cooling down on ship wars and promoted poly ships more often, it’d encourage writers to try it, but ya know. that’s never gonna happen.
9. Do you have many ships that never got together at all?
lmao
13. Has a ship ever broken your heart?
i was going to just write lmao again, but i think that’s a good opportunity to discuss something. conflict is essential to storytelling. i dont mind breakups, i dont mind characters not being endgame, i dont mind deaths, if they serve a purpose to the story. has a ship ever broken my heart? absolutely. I was heartbroken when the doctor and rose couldn’t be together, i was heartbroken when faberry wasn’t canon, i was heartbroken when root “”””died”””” and i was heartbroken when angie didnt come back to agent carter season 2, but these are all different. some were valid and enriched the story, some were disappointment @ shows that only used me. it’s important to know the difference, or else you’ll never be really happy with any ship because conflict will Always exist, or else there arent any stories to tell.
17. Talk about a pairing you’ve stopped shipping romantically.
i shipped spuffy when i first watched buffy. it was a mistake. i feel better now.
21. Is there a ship you just don’t get, but have nothing against?
i can’t think of any right now, but I’m sure there is. people ship everything, and i wont get most of it, it’s not a big deal.
25. Have you ever shipped a pairing before you even started watching the show/movie simply because of gifs and graphics or similar?
im not saying i already ship blink/polaris on the gifted im just saying they better get married soon. but honestly, yeah, happens all the time. i mean, i hate sg as a show, but i love all the supercorp stuff, so whatever. it happens.
29. Do you need to ship something to really enjoy a movie/book/tv show/comic?
not really, but it helps. a ship for me is usually a byproduct of my love for a character. shipping a character i care deeply about with another just means i’m invested on a show, ya know. but there were shows i loved with characters i loved that never really gave me a ship to be invested on and that’s fine. bsg, for instance.
33. Name your favorite fanartist(s).
luckypressure, but mostly for the rachel/bench thing. i dont know many artists tbh.
37. Do you have a favorite trope and/or AU for your OTP?
ehhhhhh i don’t think i have one? i dont think i have an otp anymore, in the original meaning of the world, and my favorites aus vary with the ships i guess.
