(that was us is my abby and tommy au where they meet much earlier, right after tommy gets out of the army and joins the fire department and they’re together from 2005 to 2008. it’s posted on my ao3!)

about six months after they meet and start dating, abby finds out that she's pregnant

the relationship fizzles a few years in, when they both realize that they've become great co-parents but they're not in love with each other (they do love each other, though!)

they juggle their work shifts so that they can swap off tori between them and still go to dispatch/the fire house - gerrard doesn't want to switch tommy off A shift so abby gets a little more flexible, but later captains are willing to swap when they need them

tori's nickname is bug, short for ladybug - because she's got red hair like her mom

buck obviously meets 13 year old tori, who is living mostly with tommy at that point — patricia is not doing well and neither abby nor tommy wants tori to have to experience patricia having an episode and getting scared. tori likes buck a lot but doesn't want her dad to feel like she's picking sides because she's always going to like tommy the best so she just calls him "mom's boyfriend" whenever they talk about him.

(when tommy tells 20 year old tori that he's dating someone named evan it doesn't ring any bells, and she'll get a photo out of her dad eventually but she's in her second year at usc and she's got homework to worry about. at least may is a good partner, because why are there so many group projects!)

tori comes home from school to do laundry, and tommy and buck are making out on the couch. tori's just like "hey dad, hey buck," and keeps going towards the laundry room. all three of them pause, she backtracks, looks at them, starts laughing, goes "mom is going to have a field day." heads back to the kitchen and steals herself one of tommy's craft beers.

tommy and buck have to talk about who tori's mom is. tori finds it HYSTERICAL which oddly enough keeps it from being awkward.

(she tells this story to all of their friends the first time they all get invited over to the house)

since Eng is getting 7.5 soon(?), I felt motivated to go back to my Meleanor rig and make her a couple of lesson animations! ...except for alchemy, because the cauldron bubbles proved too hard to photoshop around, whoops.

maybe she just got lost on her way to the classroom...?

yeah i wasn’t kidding when i said these would be coming soon. <- haha funny joke marshall. so!! remember when i said that this post would be coming out last weekend? guess whose tablet broke a few days after saying that! so sorry for the delay!! this is long overdue. here’s a link to the drive, as always! everything in this part of the update should be in the miscellaneous folder (outside of the menu icons, which are in the menu folder. wauaua).

so! all of this was already done by the time i posted the enemies. the delay isn’t *entirely* because of the tablet issues, i just managed to get distracted by making: even more redraws! i’d say new update soon but after what happened last time i shouldn’t jinx myself. but! almost All of the art for the initial mod release is done!!!! exciting!!!!!!

please be nice to me (silly) this is my first time doing frame by frame animation in… give or take 5 years? i followed the original animations pretty closely, so they don’t look Awful but i am Aware of the jank. i’m not an animator!!! they’re Good Enough for my purposes.

hey did you know that the original teleport map is slightly off center. did you know that. that’s not the case for the redraw for the record but it did make things a little harder. despite that, i think you can tell i was having fun with the dormont part of the map. i would’ve put more detail into the house, but we never really get a more detailed look at it??? and i didn’t want to make assumptions. so that part’s just traced from the original 👍. anyways shoutout to the clocktower being Curved for whatever reason

outside of those, all of the added art is actually just spritework. i didn’t know this at first, but there’s a TON of copies of sprites from the icon set. Basically Everywhere. so those are added now! and should work properly! also added a few sprites that were Missing from my original batch. not going to put them all here, but a few Important ones (which i actually had to make new art for) are the rock paper scissors cheatsheet, the Larger versions of the craft signs (used in the calamité fight and. probably somewhere else idk), and the craft signs for the tutorial kid fight!

aaaand i think that’s it! for stuff from this update. yeah no there’s more coming buddy. my tablet already broke one time this week there’s no way it’s happening twice. i’m not working on portraits Just Yet (though the temptation has been There), but i’ve got the title screens, a few backgrounds, and the ending cgs done! along with a few other assorted cgs sketched out. because im out of my fucking mind. so, uh, see you soon!! enjoy!!

Something I miss from earlier eras of the creative side of the internet was things just being unabashedly low-budget. Just all unashamedly amateur, unprofessional, ‘I don’t own a good camera but I have a story to tell you’, ‘I can’t afford a good mic but I have a song to sing for you,’ ‘I don’t have any kind of background in editing or lighting and I only just picked up this guitar last Tuesday but here’s an entire musical me and my friends wrote about our favourite book, we filmed it on a potato and put it up on YouTube in ten minute segments because we thought it was pretty funny.’

a seeming 'lone wolf' - närsi is a member of the Sartrill Sickleclaws' reconaissance force. while tight-lipped about her background and personal life with most of her crakam coworkers, most of the basilisks in Sartrill look at her with sympathy due to knowledge of an event which happened to her family many years ago - an event which she herself seems to refuse to acknowledge ever happened, not even referring to herself with her family name. what everyone knows for sure, however, is that said event drove her to join the Sickleclaws, insisting upon it ever since hearing of the organisation and what they stand for - protection of sartrill and its inhabitants.

närsi is certainly a bit sour, although the darkness around them isn't as pervasive as their mannerisms makes it appear to be. while lacking a true affinity for it themself, they are an enjoyer of culture and arts, and because of that has spent a decent amount around the art scene in Sartrill when outside of work. they feel a strong urge to protect others - even if they aren't much of a social butterfly, preferring to hang around a few people rather than many. närsi holds grudges strongly and is quite uncompromising, and if an interpersonal issue arises, she prefers to ignore it and 'carry on', doing her best to avoid having to truly deal with it hands on.

friend of ronny and has been friends with her for a very long time - the two knew eachother from their childhoods. it is a complicated friendship, however - as närsi strongly disagrees with ronny's tendency to mingle with humans.
