Thinking about the satosugu fic where they get high together for the first time, and thinking about a suguru who smokes (smoker!suguru is very precious to me) and thinking about satosugu spending every evening together in either one's room (mostly suguru's because satoru is a hyperactive cutie who cannot stay alone in his own room for a second longer than necessary, so he spends most of his free time in suguru's). This is all hidden inventory arc though.

It's summer and they spend the lazy evenings eating junk food, and just talking. Satoru has never had a listener who also interacts with him, chiming in with his own opinions and interests and he becomes a chatter box. Sometimes they spend the entire night staying up and talking about nothing in particular, while the sweet summer breeze cools them through the window.

The window is open because suguru is smoking, sitting on the ledge and satoru's on the floor looking up at his friend and yapping while the crickets outside chirp away merrily at the clear sky and the twinkling stars. Suguru offers his lit cigarette to satoru who's absolutely confident in his capabilities of taking a proper drag and not tearing up, or coughing at all. He's immediately proven wrong though. Suguru teaches him how to smoke that summer.

I like to headcanon Shin as a hardcore atheist (complete opposite of Hiyori who's a very religious person). He can't see himself believing in a higher power, not when his plights and tragedies and suffering were always met with indifference by whatever higher power may exist. But not by Sou Hiyori-- his guardian angel all throughout high school. His protector and his tormentor. His saviour and his captor. Someone he devoutly followed for years after having found him. Someone he looks up to; someone superior (always "Hiyori" while he's still "Shin", never his equal). Someone whose teachings he takes to heart and lives by. Someone he seeks out instinctively in his hour of desperation and need. Someone whose hand-me-down he wears dutifully around his neck to keep him close at all times. Someone who will praise him for his obedience and dependency and punish him for his defiance and independence. Someone he loves and respects and fears all at once. The moon can't shine without the sun, and Hiyori all but shone upon him when he couldn't find the light within himself. Shin doesn't believe in God, but loving Hiyori is the closest he's ever gotten to religion. I think it's poetic, in a way.

Aesthetically, we're going in order. Guizhong was the first within the HYV fandom, and Kafka was the second. I am also desperate to get that woman's voice to settle, which it still hasn't, so this'll kick me in gear for that. I think I also owe the most from her. So let's start the Kafka era, especially as the update will draw me back into HSR for a short bit.
