Danny knew he couldn't keep the existence of the ghosts a secret forever. The GIW was a clear example of that, they had managed to disband the organization but there were always traces left behind that made him anxious.

Times had changed, and while Amity was hiding behind his "small town" reputation, the world was changing. New protectors, heroes, as well as new threats were appearing. And as much as the halfa wanted to, he couldn't transport his entire town to the Realms on every occasion of danger, that would definitely be suspicious.

So he made a list. He gathered information on the heroes that had come forward and categorized them according to how easy they were to approach, or how open they would be to the existence of ghosts.

Unfortunately his "safest" choice was John Constantine, someone he wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole, so he decided to settle for the second one: The Flash.

Danny had weighed the pros and cons, but as he walked through Central City he wondered if it had been a mistake. Although it was probably too late to regret it, the speedster had already noticed him.

honestly I feel like it's because striking out at something you can see is easier than admitting that ideologies are slippery, often invisible things

everyone would love to have a code for ferreting out trad types, a visual signifier you can spot beyond an actual, overt insignia or slogan (which most of them, especially women, don't wear). and a way to signal to others, without fail, that they are Not Like That. it's comforting to say "don't wear this or do this, and avoid anyone who does, and you will be Safe and signal to others their safety around you"

but the real world just. doesn't work like that. you cannot tell someone's politics from their aesthetic, with very few exceptions. and all that "avoid XYZ because that's trad!!!!" leads to is alienating people in your community who do the thing you've decided to demonize, and making yourself miserable if you want to do those things or wear those clothes

I was a huge fan of Tilin and Bobby's squabbles during the early days of QSMP, so I really enjoyed seeing Sunny and Leo's petty beef with each other yesterday. So I went to the wiki page for the henghill Bullet & Brain mission of 2.2 looking for some dialogue I had missed and

a) I found something incredibly tasty that slotted into some other thoughts I'd been having, more on that on another day, and

b) I saw this super fun little trivia at the bottom, which!

I knew Penacony characters like Boothill took a lot of inspirations from old movies, but I didn't realize it was even in his and Dan Heng's relationship, that's so cool!!

It fits them very well, it's such a fun reference. "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" was an old buddy Western film (from 1969- nice) about a pair of outlaws. Butch Cassidy was the leader of a gang, and described as clever, affable, and talkative. Meanwhile, his closest companion, the Sundance Kid, was known as a man of few words.

Cassidy's original birth name was much more plain, but similar to Boothill, he took on a new moniker when he became an outlaw. "Cassidy" had been the last name of his beloved mentor, who taught him how to shoot and ride. And Sundance Kid was known as he was because Sundance was the name of his hometown, and it was the only place that had ever managed to catch and jail him, back when he'd been younger (also similar to Dan Heng, but ouch).

These two stick together like glue throughout the length of the film- through Cassidy's leadership of the gang being challenged, through a train robbery gone wrong, through being pursued by mercenaries, and even through fleeing to Bolivia and trying to start over together.

I don't want to say too much more, since the mission title is referencing one specific movie that I've never seen. I kinda wanna watch it now, though, just to see the inspiration that went into Boothill and Dan Heng and how they get along. I just think it's really sweet that these two were literally made to be the best of bros, how lovely is that. 💕

Anyway, I'm posting this year-long synthesis mostly because I promised @bookshelfdreams in March that I would make a post in the new year saying: wouldn't it be cool if we did this together this year?! Not just me and bookshelfdreams, but everyone who liked the project and wants to try their hand at it!

The "rules" are pretty simple: you have take one photo each month in the same spot. That's basically it. You can be more restrictive (taking the picture in the same calendar day; always shooting at the same time...) but it's not strictly necessary (I didn't last year XD I just took the pictures always in the last week of the month, and didn't care about the time). Also using nature as a subject will probably get you more interesting results, but... it can be anything really, as long as you can take one photo a month of it!

Now, we need a tag. So I can follow it. And maybe other people can follow it, who knows. (one month one photo would be a good tag but I'm already using it on another project XD). So...
