i love ur aus! your interpretations of the relationship dynamics in new ways that still feels true to the characters is really cool- take supernatural crazy stuff and making it fit in a more normal dynamic can't be easy.
do you have any opinions on how sukuna or choso get along with wasuke? (and do sukuna + choso both privately think of themselves as The Oldest Brother, or is one of them a middle brother?)
hey!!! thank you for sending this. i take it as a really big compliment ! i get very particular about that kind of thing so i'm glad it reads the way i want it to.
i'll answer this in the context of my aus. depending on the au there are minor differences though! and i hope you don't mind if i yap a little bit under the cut!
the most important part of this question is how wasuke's personality would mesh with them respectively so it's important to first consider what type of person wasuke is and how he would engage each of them. besides his appearances in the manga/anime we can deduce some of his personality through yuuji (how he was raised, his conduct, etc).
wasuke seems to be very even-tempered, family-focused so i think choso would get along the most with wasuke. choso is very gentle at heart and also family-oriented himself so wasuke would think highly of choso who is very outrightly passionate about it. wasuke himself doesn't seem to be overly affectionate physically or verbally but we know that he cared deeply for yuuji. choso being sort of the opposite way complements him well, at least in the context of caring for yuuji and i see him appreciating choso for making up for perhaps what he would consider his own limitations. wasuke would probably find it embarrassing but as a grandfather who loves his family he would be grateful for having choso in their lives.
sukuna and wasuke would clash more but not to the point where there is any real tension. i think they would bicker a lot, but only because they both seem like the stubborn type....probably share other personality traits too...idk..i feel it in my bones (and tbh in normal peoples au sukuna had a weird edgy phase where wasuke found him cringe af and he never let sukuna live it down 😭). in unckuna au and 12 years au they would both be very involved in rearing yuuji so they'd have long discussions about things after yuuji went to bed or something so this gives them a purpose to get along. not saying that sukuna wouldn't get along with him but to be completely honest sukuna is not the type of character to really care about much beyond himself. so they're like coworkers........but the work is yuuji. sukuna would respect wasuke out of principle (principle being he is an elder, he is his father/grandfather) and wasuke expects that from him, the end.
but knowing people like wasuke, neither of them are getting praise from him no matter how well they do or how much they impress him lol. he will tell them off immediately if they do anything wrong, and is not the type to say pretty words. if he wants to be nice to them he'll probably show it through action though; he'll go out of his way to buy their favourite fruit ("i got x today at the market, peel/cut them up for us"), drink tea and have snacks in the same room instead of sitting on the porch alone, things like that.
about the birth order...i think that's complicated. in normal peoples au i usually consider choso the oldest by a couple years (kaori's child from a past marriage or an ex). if it's the cousin choso au (where kenjaku is kaori's brother) he's around the same age as sukuna give or take. in sorceror au where he is a death painting choso is the oldest by far but sukuna won't acknowledge him as family for reasons (usually infantile and superficial) 😭😭😭.
in most aus sukuna kind of looks down on him for not looking like them and/or for not being human, and in most aus choso is not interested in sukuna beyond asking him to stop being mean to yuuji. almost writing off sukuna as yuuji's brother at all. almost... if it's any uncle au it's harder for him to ignore that i think...choso respects his elders...unfortunately...(he secretly thinks ill of sukuna in his head).

I love that Willow and Anya end up becoming good friends after starting out disliking each other for reasons that do make sense but aren't really about each other (or at least, not each other's fault).
Anya is struggling as a new human to try and not only figure out a culture she doesn't really understand but also to specifically integrate into an existing friend group in which her boyfriend is very close and devoted to two different women he's had romantic feelings for in the past. She feels out of place, jealous, and excluded, which is understandable but not really Willow or Buffy's fault (except when they're rude to her for not knowing things that she really has no way of knowing and aren't willing to be sensitive or helpful, which does happen).
Meanwhile, Willow feels like she's losing her best friend to his new girlfriend (who shares some personality traits with his last girlfriend, who was cruel to both Xander and Willow for years) at a time when Willow and Xander are growing apart as she goes to college and lives with Buffy and he lives at home and doesn't go to school (something which Xander clearly feels insecure about). Willow is also feeling isolated as she realizes and comes to terms with her sexuality; Xander has displayed internalized homophobia in the past and while we never see Anya being homophobic to my recollection, Willow probably feels uncomfortable coming out to a girl she doesn't know very well who has no social filter. On top of that, we see Willow in season four building a new, more confident identity for herself, but she never stops feeling like a nerd deep down (not that being a nerd is a bad thing, or something she even really stops being – but in this case the important thing is she's internalized the feeling of being ostracized and made fun of for it), even seeing her new identity as a costume in Restless. After spending most of her life being ridiculed for not dressing the right way or saying the right thing and now making a conscious effort to reinvent herself, she bristles at seeing Anya confidently do and say things that are socially inappropriate with no shame, and at Xander finding this attractive. Again, her feelings are understandable and human, but not Anya's fault. (Also when she first met Anya, Anya enlisted her help in casting a spell which brought forth Willow's evil doppelganger, which is mostly her fault).
But then they become friends! They not only stop bickering all the time, but they start to actively look out for each other, with Anya saying at the end of season six that she's only working with Xander and Buffy to help Willow, and Willow trying to help Anya after she kills the frat boys in season seven. They even do another spell together, which is a nice full circle moment from how they met. They still have moments of conflict (which feels realistic for their personalities), but they are friends.

"Saving one person is child's play. Saving the world is as hard as reaching the Heavens."
Do I press forward? Or run away?
"... back when he made the decision, he fully understood the situations that he had to face."
...although he thought that his heart was like a stone, in the end, he was still human, not some emotionless grass or plant.
In which I make connections between MDZS' Wei Wuxian and Honkai Star Rail's Jiaoqiu solely because both are pretty much my blorbos. I'll start off with the easiest connections and I will inevitably end up making the longest of reaches so come along for the ride ! :D
Contains spoilers ahead for both Mo Dao Zu Shi and Honkai Star Rail ~ Be warned :3
The quickest and easiest connections are the most surface-level ones. Both characters are attributed with the colour red (or shades/variants of), foxes, and spice.
Jiaoqiu is a Foxian, an in-game humanoid species with vulpine (fox-like) features, Wei Wuxian has been connected with foxes by the fanbase (see: popular fox!Xian and dragon!Ji type fanfics)
Both characters favour spicy dishes, so spicy that no other person could withstand their spice tolerance. For Wei Wuxian, canonically it's because he grew up eating spicy dishes. For Jiaoqiu, trauma numbed his sense of taste and only the spiciest dishes could make him feel alive for the first time (see: Jiaoqiu Character Story III)
Jiaoqiu's in-game abilities' aesthetic is also based heavily around the Yuanyang Hotpot, where the hotpot resembles the yinyang symbol and one of the broths involved is a spicy broth.
Their character designs feature the colour red as a significant colour. (Jiaoqiu's in-game abilities, top, fan, and phone case; Wei Wuxian's hair ribbons and clothing accents [and his powers in the donghua])
Yes, I do completely admit that my brain went "omg jiaoqiu = wwx" when I saw that Jiaoqiu was a fox connected to red and spices. What can you do?
For a while, the connection stayed that way: Surface-level and with a bit of reach. But now Jiaoqiu has been released, we can see his Character Stories, and we've seen him in action in-game !
Our Foxes and their Wish to Help
The biggest and most important shared character trait they have is their dedication to helping/saving other people. Some people call this a "saviour or hero complex" in regards to Wei Wuxian, but that's just not what it is. I'll explain.
This lifelong dedication is not something you can immediately see at first glance. Both Wei Wuxian and Jiaoqiu look and feel like the archetypal trickster character with their pleasant smiles, natural charisma, and that vague sense of 'hey maybe this guy may have something planned but we don't know what'. Wei Wuxian is definitely seen by others as a lax troublemaker, while Jiaoqiu has been described in his introductory blurb as "greeting people with a smile on his face and a scheme in his heart".
They're both devious little trolls ! In the Primaveral Swordsage Event, Jiaoqiu literally slipped laxatives to IPC workers so March 7th can win and if that isn't the most Wei Wuxian thing ever then I don't know what is.
But as you go through their stories, you realise that beneath all that is a soul who just really wants to help people. Jiaoqiu walked a different path from his Alchemy Commission family to become a combat medic because "it is ultimately not compatible with my wish to practice medicine for the masses" (Character Story I). Wei Wuxian risked his already shaky position in the gentry to save the Wen Remnants who have been condemned by the rest of their society.
Both are also well-acquainted with the phrase "no good deed goes unpunished".
Jiaoqiu watched so many of his patients walk directly back to their death after saving them that he literally had to quit practicing medicine. Each death whittled away at his heart piece by piece until he was left questioning his purpose as a healer.
Wei Wuxian stuck with his decision to help the Wens until the very end. He died reviled by the Cultivation World and people still curse his name over a decade after his death. The very people he risked it all for are also gone, save for two.
The tragedy of their lives are intrinsically connected with their entirely selfless desire to help others, especially since they both have the skills to do so and, in Wei Wuxian's case, because no one else wanted to do so.
The difference between the two of them is how they coped after their respective tragedies. Jiaoqiu ended up pretty jaded by the war he went through and quit practicing medicine. In his words, "Those I saved only ended up as another dead soul when they dived head-in back into the battlefield." His retirement doesn't last long though. He was then approached to become his General's healer and he accepted. Despite it all, he still wants to help. His heart is terribly broken, but even it couldn't squash his innate wish to help and heal.
Meanwhile, Wei Wuxian is introduced and he immediately jumps into saving a couple of strangers. A couple of teens, because he had the assets to do so and because no one else was around who could. And he continues to help even after the contract that brought him back was fulfilled because he can and he wanted to. He went out of his way to help those who he thought hated and condemned him because that's just who he is.
They don't go around helping people because they want to be the hero. They aren't looking for any kind of glory or prize for all their efforts. They just happen to be people who want to contribute to the betterment of the world. They both feel that they do this best by helping where they can. They're not reckless or neglectful of themselves. Jiaoqiu left when it became too much for him, Wei Wuxian exhausts all possible avenues first before he goes for the last resort. Their perceived mistakes and losses weigh down on them by the time the audience meets them.
This dedication is their biggest asset and at some point became their worst detriment. Wei Wuxian's story is finished and we know it ends in a hopeful note despite all the losses and heartbreaking revelations. Jiaoqiu's story is still ongoing and I can only hope that my boy gets the happy ending he deserves :(
Smaller Connections
Jiaoqiu and Wei Wuxian have a few more traits they share !
They're both good with kids ! Wei Wuxian is pretty fond of the juniors and they are very fond of him right back. Jiaoqiu's interactions with the younger characters are soft and cute, and they fuss over him as much as he fusses over them !
They're both inventive lil dudes ! Wei Wuxian's inventions have improved the quality of night hunts by the time he is summoned into Mo Xuanyu's body. Jiaoqiu has been mentioned to continuously improve upon his family's medicinal formula while in the midst of war and his medicines have been described to be "unusual but profoundly effective". His Character Story I has an old man say "Others can hardly even invent a few decent medicines in their lifetimes, yet a single day is all you need to achieve that and more." in regards to his medicines
They both don't like plain foods because they're "boring". Though Jiaoqiu's may just be a side effect of his diminished sense of taste from trauma.
BONUS: They both have a quieter companion who are perceived by others as "cold and distant" and are known to be particularly clean and tidy.
So, that's it ! :D This is literally me peddling my WWX-IS-JIAOQIU-AND-VICE-VERSA agenda for funsies ~

Could you make Yandere Zipplewraith(Pet-Like)?
Sure! Here's my take on it!
Yandere! Zipplewraith Concept
Pairing: Pet/Animal-Like
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Overprotective behavior, Jealousy, Violence, Clingy behavior, Isolation, Forced companionship.
First things first, the Zipplewraith is a hybrid of the Zippleback and Snow Wraith.
This dragon has both fire powers of its parents, including the flammable gas and sparks of a Zippleback and the blue plasma blasts of Snow Wraith.
This dragon has also inherited cold resistance from their Snow Wraith parent.
This dragon is usually very solitary due to its Snow Wraith traits.
However, due to its Zippleback traits it's never completely alone and often fight with its two heads.
Wild Zipplewraiths prefer to live very far north so Vikings do not intrude on their homes.
Although it is said that Zipplewraiths will stop at nothing to protect the ones they do care about.
These dragons have incredible memories, meaning they'd remember you very clearly if they care about you.
Training a Zipplewraith can be difficult as it requires a lot of patience, yet it has been done.
To train a Zipplewraith you have to befriend both heads and help them work with each other despite their solitary nature.
However, once done, the dragon will form a life-long bond with their rider.
This means they'll defend you with their very life and will stop at nothing to protect you.
This is a trait they share with regular Zipplebacks too.
Their loyalty to their rider and their triple fire is what I feel makes them intimidating as a yandere/overprotective dragon.
Their bond has time to flourish while you try to befriend and train the two separate heads of the beast.
These dragons aren't stealthy compared to their Snow Wraith parent so they aren't the best with stalking.
This dragon would prefer to use brute strength to defend and protect their rider.
They know they're capable of it due to their strength.
If anything threatens their rider, they're blowing the area sky high with you on their back.
As a result I feel these dragons would be volatile at times, I feel like they'd be trigger happy with their rider.
When they're close to their rider I imagine both heads would try to cuddle into you.
Your dragon would be like a big body guard that looks all stoic up until you're in private…
Then they want to cuddle you and won't leave you alone.
I feel they'd put up a front around others, acting all intimidating around other Vikings to scare them off from you.
When in reality they just don't want you hurt.
These dragons prefer to be solitary which would end up making them want to isolate their rider too.
They prefer snowy climates yet know you can't entirely live in them.
As a result they'll keep you in a climate on the border of the cold to still keep watch over you.
I personally imagine this dragon is temperamental at times.
They may get frustrated in more social areas, which may drive them to drag their rider away from others.
In their eyes, other humans and dragons aren't important.
They only need you… and you only need them.
You both can live a solitary life… In fact… Their goal in the end may be to isolate you with them due to being an antisocial dragon type.
Even if it means they have to cause some damage to do it.

pls pls tell me about your hcs for the first members of the crew fitting the elements of harmony, i very much wanna hear 👀👀👀
Thanks for asking I love u very much allow me to bring a chair so you can sit down and read all my rambling 🪑
some notes about this absolute madness:
I feel like they fit the element but also some traits of the mlp characters too so I will add that when it's necessary
When I talk about the mugiwara's dreams I assume they've already reached them bc the story is not finished yet like mlp and I KNOW THEY WILL ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS anyways
Please don't have high expectations ahhh I don't wanna end up feeling like I thought something cool and it ended up being lame, I'm not used to writing or explaining stuff this way (and in english tho oof double brain work)
I'll put a everything under a read more bc it ended up being long and also uhh CW: spoilers for both series yeah
✦ Magic: First of all and obvious reason, main character lol.
Character who gathered the group in the first place
Royalty !!! King of the Pirates!!! Princess of Friendship!!! besides the fact that Luffy's dream is becoming the king and Twilight just had to do it etc etc
Very powerful mentor who's far away but encouraged them to start their journey and find their friends
They're not similar in personality at all I get it lmao
✦ Kindness: oof do I need to say anything
Sanji is kind, that's like one of the traits that made him one of my fav characters (more than his totally badass habilities).
and of course that's one of his most important traits
His mother sacrificed everything and celebrated everytime he showed his kindness, he was a sweet child, he's soft with children and helps anyone who's in need.
He's so full of emotion and can go from the softest to the meanest in a second if he needs to (flashbacks to fluttershy literally confronting a bigass dragon, making him cry and leave bc he was mean to her friends)
Also both characters are certified Friends of the Little Critters ™ and can't fly very well
Special mention to Pinkie Pie here, since she shares the "Third child who stands out like a sore thumb from his other siblings because she's weird to her family standards" backstory with Sanji
✦ Loyalty: That's like one of Zoro's main character traits right? He's in the air before Luffy says jump
Cool, they're just cool and probably the most liked characters + the ones who sell more merch for sure lol
Both have a childhood dream, becoming the best swordsman/wonderbolt, but that doesn't push them to leave their friends to achieve it alone + having friends actually helps them reach their goals
hot headed kids + dumbass sometimes
✦ Honesty: The group's voice of reason
Character that pretends to be okay but hell naw she's not ok (AJ harvesting sweet apple acres and almost dying / Nami Pretending to be Arlong's little trustworthy human so she can save her village) until their friends help them to be honest and ask for help
Also they have similar lifes cultivating apples/tangerines with their families and I thought that was cute hehe
✦ Generosity: SCREAMS Chopper my little chop chop I love u my sweet child
The way that Rarity shows her element is usually by giving away something important to her (her time, her talent with fashion, HER FRIGGIN' TAIL) so she can help other people (creatures?) feel better, and there's no signs of repentance after that, she does it with her heart (and sometimes to show that she can make things fabulous)
This brings me to Chopper looking for the mushroom to cure Dr. Hiriluk's illness and showing up at his door all hurt but he's like heyy I got the thing. I understand that's another kind of "sacrifice" The way he showed his thankfulness to his mentor by risking his life looking for the mushroom and trying to prove that he's a good doctor too (even tho uhh we know how that ended)
This was a little bit more difficult to connect with his element and that's why I was in between choosing kindness and generosity for him, but
kindness had to be sanji's element for suree
Dr Kureha specifically told him that "kindness wasn't enough to save lives" and I won't contradict her she scares me so much
AND I feel like Chopper's generosity it's shown all along the show just by treating all those injured pirates over and over again for free lmao
My overall feeling when giving him the element was "He's a little doctor, of course he's generous, doctors are generous enough to learn how to save lives! so we don't like.. die! next question"
✦ Laughter:
This one was pretty simple too, I love Usopp bc he makes me laugh a lot, he's such a comedic relief for the story and also: my best friend in the whole wide world, yes *gives him a lil kiss*
Of course he's not just a comedic relief, he tries to make things easier trying to solve conflicts (sometimes) or joining the sillyness (most of times)
Also they like to tell stories! I feel like that's a cute trait that makes both characters more interesting, even when someone's stories are lies *eyes emoji* I like storyteller characters a lot !!
they're good with kids + tell them stories too !!
also the whole.. alter ego thing, yeah
AND THE PUFFY HAIR ♥
AIGHT
Hope you enjoyed my TED talk, thaks for giving me the strenght to be a little unhinged, I don't talk too much here but this whole mlp au has people coming and encouraging me to talk/write and I have a problem, once I start talking about something I like I can't shut up
And I like MLP since I was 12 years old, i started drawing because of it and I'm currently rewatching the whole series with my bf so if I see anything else I'll come back and add stuff for sure ♥
#ask#holy sh#send u a kiss#i promise i'll answer the other asks tomorrow it's 3 am i'm dying sorry#mlp au#one piece#mlp#pony#pony au

:re your tags about body motifs in bnha got me curious about something. I can think off the top of my head several examples of how this applies to the trio, and a couple more about how this applies to AFO. But can I ask you to expand on how the eye motif is present in AFO specifically? The hands and mouth are obvious, but I can't say I've ever picked up on the symbolism around eyes when it comes to him. Well, unless you're referring to that scene with the sensors in Tartarus. But I'm curious if there's more that I missed, and since I'm a slut about themes and symbolism (and the eye theme relating to the todofam in particular), I would love a deep dive into it and how they're connected, if you don't mind sharing, of course 👀 Really love your meta btw
Thank youu~!
Yea, the eyes def receive less focus overall compared to the emphasis placed on AFO's mouth/hands-- but I feel that AFO's association with eyes is still pretty important even if they don't get as much focus, and the rare scenes where we -do- get to focus on his eyes + his relationship with eyes do a lot for his character.
↑ Breaking down AFO's character design to its barest essentials, you can see Hori more or less designed his "true" appearance with these three elements in mind: mouths, hands, and eyes. A perpetual mask-like grin, the stigmata marks to both hands, and completely blank white eyes. Hori uses the composition and lighting in his art to further emphasize these aspects, usually by placing focus on one part/motif at a time-- AFO is essentially introduced to us in pieces, bit by bit, body part by body part.
I would say act 1 focuses primarily on his hands, while act 2 shifts to focusing on his mouth/smile. The final act is where we finally start exploring AFO's relation to eyes-- and imo, Hori chose to focus on AFO's eyes last b/c AFO's eyes seem to be what connect him to his humanity and """true""" feelings:
Panels that emphasize AFO's eyes specifically are almost always tied to Yoichi! It's a neat and completely loaded little detail. In what's heavily implied to be the aftermath of Yoichi's death, we suddenly shift from obscuring AFO's eyes to obscuring his mouth-- the total reverse of how he's typically depicted during flashback scenes. His eyes (and tears) receive all the focus. The narration doesn't match or address what we're actually*seeing* in a fashion that's eerily similar to the way that Tomura narrates over the deaths of his family. There's a lot of set up here already, and I'm looking forward to see how it all ultimately pays off.
And if eyes are ultimately the motif that ties AFO to his humanity, then the lack of eyes throughout Act's 1 & 2 also feels intentional.
Blank eyes are also a design trait he shares with Twice (i.e. "Guy whose own quirk drove him to insanity and completely wrecked his sense of identity/individuality") and Sir Nighteye (i.e. "Guy whose quirk lets him see into the future of others, and the future he saw caused him to fall into despair and become a bitter husk of his former self")-- both characters are depicted w/ blank eyes for 90% of their screen time, but "gain" pupils during key scenes. Twice stands out in particular, bc Hori starts consistently drawing him with pupils immediately after he's able to verify his identity and overcome the trauma associated with his quirk.
Also worth mentioning: Jin kicks off his entire arc talking about the importance of knowing who you are and lamenting about the pains that come with losing sight of yourself/no longer being able to connect with or trust others, and he completes his arc by affirming that he knows exactly who he is and dedicating his heart completely to others. Nighteye's entire arc is about smashing past his fear of the future and the fear of change while *also* learning to value Mirio and Izuku as individuals instead of merely viewing them as vessels for OFA. Both arcs are very much relevant to AFO's whole deal as a character/antagonist and the overall theme(s) of MHA as a whole. Twice and Nighteye serve as semi-heroic foils to AFO who manage overcome the same shortcomings that AFO implicitly struggles with, specifically because they allowed themselves to care about others-- So imo it's neat that these three all share this particular design trait!
they're also the two characters whose deaths have the most narrative impact outside of Yoichi and Nana/The Shimura Fam (whoops)
The final act has also been placing more and more emphasis on how a person's eyes look when they finally get to be their best selves and follow their dreams, and how they sparkle and shine when they think about their origins and their hopes for the future (and I've talked about how this contrasts with Tomura's fairly dead-eyed expression whenever he talks about his "dreams" of destroying everything before (link!), so I'm pretty pleased that the narrative is now calling attention to how a person's eyes look + making the total lack of ~shine~ in Tomura's eyes a very intentional thing).
AFO addresses this directly-- on the surface, he appears to be echoing Touya's desire to be "seen" and expresses resentment that people aren't looking at him. But where Touya longs to be seen in a way that truly validates his humanity and reason for existing, AFO instead wants to be "seen" as something completely devoid of those human qualities. Dabi wants people to see Touya, Mysterious Shigaraki X only wants people to see "AFO." He wants to be a looming, mythical figure who blots out the sun itself-- and when people look towards their future, they should only be seeing a path that ends with him and him alone:
This sequence will never not be thematically relevant
Tomura, Himiko, and Touya all desire the basic human connections that are associated with Hands/Mouths/Eyes. Even as they continue to lash out and use their respective motifs in increasingly violent/self-destructive ways, their core desire never changes. The desire to be touched gently, the desire to be spoken to like a normal girl, and the desire to be truly seen-- that longing for human intimacy (and who they ultimately seek understanding/intimacy from) betrays what their true desires are more than anything else.
AFO shares the same body motifs as the hero and villain trios, but he's a corrupted version of those motifs and represents what hands/mouths/eyes are capable of at their absolute worst. AFO doesn't truly "see" others. AFO doesn't see people as individuals, he only sees them as extensions of himself or as bit-part "roles" to be played out in his increasingly off-the-rails real people fanfiction. AFO doesn't want people to look to the future or even attempt looking beyond him. AFO doesn't want anyone to see what lies behind his shadowy mask and the AFO persona. AFO counts on society to avert their eyes from problems and pretend they don't see, so he can swoop in and play the benevolent savior to those who have been abandoned. AFO doesn't want anyone to see "Tenko," he only wants them to see "Shigaraki." Et cetera et cetera et cetera.
Anyway--!!
There's also the underlying implication that AFO wants everyone to have eyes that are just like his:
Blank. Empty. Completely devoid of spark and soul, pushed past the brink of total despair, with no hope whatsoever for a future.

Good Omens Fic Rec: What We Make of It (Shotgun Wedding)
The important thing, Crowley tells himself -- the most important thing -- is Adam, his brilliant, creative, empathetic nephew. Being fourteen's hard enough; the kid didn't ask to deal with the weight of the world on top of it. And if taking care of Adam means Crowley has to tough it out at a job he can’t stand, so be it. And if Crowley's job means that Adam’s charming English teacher is NOT a romantic possibility, well, that's just how things go. But the occasional drink with Aziraphale proves hard to resist. They frequent the same pub, so who can object to them saying hello? Briefly sharing a table? Perhaps a little conversation? The painful knowledge that it can’t be anything more -- not without somebody getting fired or sued or both -- well, that can't be helped. Until Crowley stumbles onto a terribly reckless idea...

*Minor Spoilers* I was so certain that I had already posted about this one! When I saw I hadn't, well, that just warranted a reread didn't it! This is a very famous fic, so I wouldn't be surprised if you've already read this. But if you haven't, or maybe didn't know if it was worth committing to the length, I'm here to tell you its very much worth your time.
Not only is this an excellent parent story, it's also a fake marriage story! Crowley is a single parent to his nephew Adam who strikes up a friendship with Adam's English teacher Mr. Fell. The problem? The company Crowley works for has a strict rule against dating anyone in the School Industry. You know, it's a tiny bit dramatic, but also one of the cleverer ideas to justify writing a forbidden relationship. Does this happen in real life? I don't know, but the way this is written I fully believe it could! Either way, there's a loophole they can exploit so they can be together, and all it takes is a quick, "I do."
Ugh their relationship is so wonderful here. It's very mature and healthy, the kind of relationships we want to read about because they are just so safe. They're able to talk through their issues and feelings and know they're always going to be supported. The love they have is so heartwarming it’s sickening. A lot is told through letters and text messages, which I personally loved. These are different characters from canon, they've both been changed by their human lives and surroundings, but this story just understands who they are deep down. They're not shallow characterizations.
Who this story really gets right is Adam. I full on believe this is the best handling of Adam in any fanfic I've read for Good Omens. A majority of the plot revolves around him being narcoleptic and epileptic. It has tons of amazing things to say about health care, being chronically ill, and being a parent to a child with health issues. But outside of that it understands who Adam is. Someone who is brilliant, creative, a leader, manipulative, arrogant. And how those traits can be both positive and negative for him. He wants to change the world, but has some learning to do along the way. I loved him, and I love how much Crowley loves being a dad. He even remarks on it, that people don't expect men to love being parents. It's nice to read a story of such a devoted guardian.
A really excellent story, it deserves it's popularity! I would say this is largely safe for public. There are a couple explicit scenes tucked in but they are skippable and a small section of a large story. Which by the way, will fly by! This story does NOT feel like 200K words. If you haven't gotten around to this one, I highly suggest you do!

I know you’re going through a lot of big changes right now, but I’d just like to say that your Calliope fanfic has now made me realize how beautiful (both inside and out) Calliope is, and I respectfully ask that you inject some Morpheus/reader/Calliope hc’s directly into my veins-
Hi I'm starting to feel a bit better and ready to gift you some hc's!! Let me know if you want to see more of this throuple 🤗 Read To the world we dream about here
Okay, first and foremost Morpheus and Calliope have come to an understanding that, while they both could have done more to help Orpheus, at the end of the day, his choices were his own. If they can't stop resenting each other for the death of their son/reconcile those feelings, there is no hope for any sort of relationship. So, for the sake of these headcanons and the continuity from my previous fic, they've worked through these issues.
(I do think that, had things gone differently and pride not gotten in the way, they would have been able to have these discussions like calm, rational adults)
ANYWAYS
You all come to the realization that you care for each other romantically on your own, and it makes things extremely awkward for a good moment
For you especially, where monogamy is likely all you grew up with/all you know
Morpheus and Calliope are no strangers to the idea of sharing or having multiple partners: many gods and goddesses and mythical creatures happily participate in it
Also they may or may not have had a third in their bed a few times who knows
But they're as aware that you're a mortal as you are, and just sort of automatically assume that you wouldn't be interested in both of them
They're each prepared to fight each other for your affection, even as they ignore the return of feelings for each other that they thought long gone
All in all, there's a lot of angst for everyone before you all remember that you have two hands each
Speaking of hands, Calliope loves holding yours!
She's usually always touching you in some way, whether that be her hand holding yours or your arms linked together, a hand on your lower back or your bodies pressed together when you're sitting next to each other
Physical touch is not one of Morpheus's love languages, so his touches are softer and more fleeting
A hand brushing against yours
The brief press of lips to your forehead
Though his touches are nothing like Calliope's, they're just as sweet and appreciated
PET. NAMES. So many pet names!
Calliope calls you things like treasure, sweetest, sweetheart, lovely
Morpheus enjoys calling you beloved, my heart, dearest, starlight
Calliope and Morpheus have their own names for each other, old endearments in languages you could never begin to understand
It's rather sweet, actually
When you sleep or rest in bed with both of your lovers, it's usually you or Calliope in the middle
(Morpheus feels too trapped)
The three of you spend a lot of time together, but most of the time it's in the Dreaming, which is most convenient for all parties when two of the three are important cosmic beings
Lots of long walks in Fiddler's Green or quiet evenings spent curled up in a secluded corner of the library
Calliope tries to visit you in the Waking when she can, but Morphues is reluctant to leave his realm (which you completely understand)
There's lots of one-on-one time too, with you and Calliope, you and Morpheus, or Morpheus and Calliope
It helps to strengthen your individual relationships, and make you better partners overall
They find your human quirks and traits extremely endearing, though Calliope has more experience with them than Morpheus
Honestly, having a human partner is the best thing that could have happened to Morpheus and Calliope in regard to their healing
They were both forced to deal with the absolute worst of humanity for a very long time and now, through you, they get to see the weird and wonderful parts of humanity
You're a breath of fresh air, and every time they watch you hold the door open for strangers, or someone randomly compliments your smile, they understand why you still have such hope for your species
It's usually said that to capture the affection/attention of a deity is not something that anybody wants, that it will only bring ruin to the human unlucky enough to be in that position
When it's two of them? Destruction is all but assured
You say bring it on
If you're to meet your end while experiencing the greatest loves you've ever known and ever will, then in your mind, that's a good way to go
Calliope and Morpheus are very much the possessive, passionate creatures that one would think, and they refuse to let any harm come to you
They'll go up against anyone, anything, to keep you safe, be it Hell or the Fates themselves

headcanons: Luke Skywalker and a mentally ill reader🫂🩵
A/N: I received several requests for Luke with a reader that struggles with their psychological health and decided to do one big post instead of three small ones.
Since I'm heavily affected myself I have a hard time talking about it, meaning this will be shorter than what I usually do; thank you for understanding <3
Nevertheless it's an important topic that shouldn't be ignored so here we goooo
Luke comforting you when you're afraid of being a bad Jedi due to your mental illness
• like I often mention, Luke always has an open ear for you
• I think he's especially understanding when you tell him you struggle with your personal image as a Jedi
• because in a similar way Luke often worries about this as well
• is he doing the right thing? Did he make the right choices? He doesn't know
• more often than not he wishes for Obi-Wan or Yoda to be with him still, to guide him
• his insecurities might stem from a different place than yours but in many ways you are able to draw parallels
• just like you he's afraid of not being good enough
• I think he'd let himself be really vulnerable in sharing this with you, hoping that it makes you feel less alone
• he doesn't want you to think you are in any way failing him or yourself
• most importantly though he wants to prevent you from thinking he's without faults
• he wants to give you an opening to relax, to show you that it's going to be okay as long as you're genuinely trying your best
• he does his best and is he not doing a good job?
• he wants to relieve you of the burden of perfectionism
• both of you are human and that is very much okay
• additionally the both of you don't have much information about what a Jedi should or should not be and while that certainly makes things harder, it can also mean a new beginning
• Luke spends a lot of time thinking about the principles and teachings he wants to pass along to a new generation of Jedi
• and I think a big part of that would be to embrace one's nature and being as they are
• some things can't be changed, it's the will of the Force
• in this regard he is big on following his senses and his heart and how could you ever be a bad Jedi if he sees so much goodness in you?
• while it may be hard to see for yourself, Luke will do his best to show you that your personal struggles don't equal being a failure
• mental illness isn't a flaw that makes you less capable or less intelligent
• you are not your mental illness
• it doesn't define you as a person even though it often times feels like it
• he will list many wonderful character traits of yours, trying to convey how others may see you
• he retells situations where you were able to overcome or even use your struggles in order to help another person
• you are allowed to be yourself and he's glad to have you by his side
• he values your opinions and insights
• in many ways you are able to view certain aspects from a totally different point
• with your unique experiences you are able to offer comfort to those in similar situations better than Luke ever could
Not wanting to burden Luke with your trauma
• Luke is familiar with the notion of keeping ones struggles to oneself
• especially when it's done out of consideration for others
• I don't think you'd manage to hide your mental state from him though, not post ROTJ and not when you're force sensitive as well
• he might have been rather blind to his surroundings earlier on, but has long grown past it
• of course he respects if and when you want to open up at all and will put no pressure on you to tell him anything whatsoever
• however I think he prefers his family and friends to be outspoken about how they're feeling
• not only does he want to help but is also aware that it's only going to get worse over time otherwise
• he knows what can happen when one gets lost in an endless maze of the same recurring thoughts
• to be able to realease something into the Force, to let it go, one has to confront it
• how this is done varies for each person though
• you know best where your trauma stems from and only you know what you are able to take on in order to leave it behind
• as much as Luke would love to be able to simply tell you what to do, he can't
• it's a journey everyone has to go on for themselves
• he'll want to be your company though
• Luke is happy to let you take your time
• if the possibility to retreat is important to you, it's what you get
• he wants your healing to come from a place of security and with the knowledge that he's there to catch you when you're not able to do so on your own
• still he remains firm in his believes and will tell you so
• nobody said it was easy, he knows for a fact it isn't and he is ready to be by your side when you are
• depending on your relationship he might give you gentle nudge in the right direction or, alternatively, a kick in the butt if that's what you need
• he won't stand by and watch you destroy yourself
Dilf!Luke realizing you're not doing well mentally
• since he always has his eyes on you, he can tell when something is just a little bit different
• depending on how well you're able to hide your mental condition though, it possibly takes him a while
• unlike is child he can't be around you all the time and during your car rides home the both of you don't talk
• maybe he realizes how tense you grow when a member of your family contacts you
• maybe he overhears parts of a conversation either when you have to take their calls or when you talk with your friend
• I think he'd ask his child if everything's okay with you
• he doesn't want to seem overbearing or like he's invading your privacy
• since they are your best friend they wouldn't tell him any details but maybe mention you're struggling
• again it depends on you as a person
• are you open about your mental health or not?
• if not they will lie for you
• otherwise they know what they can share without revealing too much
• after all it's your decision what you want others to know
• either way he's worried
• he will offer his help right away
• if you need someone to talk to, he's there
• he's not a professional of course but he'll listen! A second perspective can change a lot!
• the house is easily big enough for one more person, he doesn't mind you staying for the night or a few more
• you can always come over when you need space or a place to rest
• he'll look after you
• have you thought about moving out?
• are you making enough money to be independent?
• are you seeing a therapist?
• "Dad please calm down, I can't tell them you said any of this!"
• your friend will give you a watered down version of what happened because they're kinda afraid that you'll be creeped out by Luke's behavior
• you aren't
• in fact there's nothing you want more than for Mr. Skywalker to take care of you
• he may ask you about it himself once you are better acquainted
• if you're comfortable enough to drop a comment or two he definitely catches on to them
• you are welcome to celebrate the holidays with him and his child, you know?
• he's sure they would be more than okay with it too
• it's your choice of course but he'd be happy to have you

Tooru for the blorbo ask game???
A blorbo in the truest sense!
Ranting under the cut!
(For the record I mark the "just like you fr" square because we share a lot of physical similarities and a couple other details, I don't share most of his personality traits.)
He's like a weird comfort character thing to me? And yet I'm not nearly confident in my own interpretation.
I've seen it said he's badly written past shirazu's demise and I can't say I entirely disagree, but at the same time his history and trans-ness is so important to me that I can't really fathom changing him at this point. He's kind of in the same basket as Takizawa? Introduced as a nice friendly guy, (albeit flawed but in a human way that can be improved upon) who then gets bucketloads of trauma dumped on his head and becomes a seemingly unsavable villain only to kind of get redeemed?... and ultimately written off and moved far far away from Kaneki's happily ever after in the epilogue with no true resolution of their own. Why does that always happen to my favorites also they're both transmasc I will continue to spread my trans Seidou agenda until the end of time. Would definitely shift the narrative to respect his identity more if I could, but simultaneously his self-doubt is another comfort. I WISH I could make it so that no one would ever again point to his use of pronouns and femininity as a form of self-deprecation in his lowest moments, and go "See! He sees himself as a girl! When he calls himself a woman that's a good thing and a sign that he's healing from the evil trans disease, don't worry about how it's happening at the same time as he breaks down-"
I couldn't fix him and he isn't fixing me but he is VERY cathartic. One of those characters that I like to read fics about and draw going through the ringer when I'm feeling down.

I have to say, as a person that grew up watching Doctor Who and eventually lost interest, only to then pick it up as an adult again; the nuance of the portrayal of many of the relationships in the RTD era had to be one of the most surprising discoveries for me upon rewatch.
For a show that is silly ha ha for a large portion of it's existence, the human aspect of the RTD era is something I didn't truly appreciate until i watched it through my adult lens. You have such iconic companions such as, Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Donna Noble all of which embrace both the negative and positive aspects of what it's like to be human. Their importance lies in their existence, and their ability to grow and learn from their experiences with the Doctor, who in turn is not above being portrayed as a flawed and traumatized person.
His trauma leads him to make decisions that may not always be the best, and the narrative goes out of its way to show that he's not always in the right. They affect his relationships to said companions, and in the end, it's these decisions he makes that lead him to regenerate alone. Because by not sharing the burden of his duties with the people that love him, he punishes himself to never truly heal from all the baggage and he pushes them away.
I believe this is why, although heartbreaking, it only made sense why the 10th doctor ultimately ends up alone.
He tells himself that he is cursed to live a lonely existence. That no one will truly ever understand what it's like to live as the last of his people, and although he may have a point in thinking that rules of his existence are drastically different from that of a human, he is wrong in assuming that we too don't also suffer from the same burden. And so, this is why him ultimately choosing the fates of those around him, against the wishes of those affected, is so unfair (and why he's often punished for it).
Not every human lives the entirety of their life span. It's the very short lives we live (in comparison to that of a time lord, I mean) that help us put into perspective what is truly important. We live our lives knowing that any day may be our last, but instead of wallowing in it, we continue on because that is one of the strengths of humanity: our ability to keep going. We don't forget our pasts, we confront it and carry it with us.
An aspect of humanity that we see him envy through out the run. The slow path, a simple life that is deprived of all the danger he loves but carries the security he lacks. He puts up a front, alienating himself from his companion's lives because he claims they're not worth the time of a time lord but in truth, he can't help but get involved regardless. Because he is not above the basic desire of companionship and love, and by attempting to deprive himself of it (by not being honest about his feelings to himself and those around him) out of an act of self preservation, he is left to wonder what would his life had been had he given in. Would his separation from them been any less hurtful than it was in his final moments: left to watch them live their lives from afar as he returned to a console room empty of the people who loved him? Perhaps, but the undeniable truth is that in never allowing it, he'll never know and that must hurt a lot more in retrospect.
This is ultimately why Tentoo gets his happy ending. Him, being an amalgamation of all the human traits the time lord tried so hard to stunt through out his run. It's this version of himself that is able to be honest with the people around him. He feels fear, making an impulsive decision to end a threat out of the need to protect those he loves. In doing so, ignoring his duty as a time lord to conserve the wellbeing of the universe. He is able to tell the woman he loves that he wants to spend his life with her. Give her the choice to decide what her life would be, even if it didn't include him without the threat of permanent separation. He may have been born out of war and hatred, yet the reason why he exists is because the doctor wished to have more time with that very same woman. Putting his regeneration energy into his hand as a means of not changing into a man unfamiliar to her and potentially losing all of the feelings he held for her in the process. This version of himself, was also born out of the love he had for humanity but what makes him different, is that he embraces it (symbolically and literally lol). Which is why, his time lord self resents him.
His story is a cautionary tale. A reminder of why it is important to treasure the people who come into our lives and to respect their ability to make their own decisions. To live in the moment rather than hide in fear of what the future must bring, because the pain the unknown will bring will never erase the joy felt in those precious memories spent with the people we love.
He realizes this, in his final moments. How much more terrifying it is to be alone than with his beloved friends, in spite of knowing how much it'll hurt to lose them one day.
"I don't want to go"
His final words are a testament of the tragedy/irony of his situation. A man born out of the love he has for humanity, yet he loses his way by not embracing the very thing that once saved him.

Cosette!
There's a strong implication that the Rue Plumet house is an opportunity for romance, both through earlier descriptions of the garden (the emphasis on youth, weddings, love, etc) and lines like this:
"The convent is a compression which must last the whole life, if it is to triumph over the human heart. On leaving the convent, Cosette could not have found anything sweeter or more dangerous than the house in the Rue Plumet. It was the commencement of solitude with the commencement of liberty, a closed garden, but a sharp, kind, rich, voluptuous, and odorous nature; there were the same dreams as in the convent, but glimpses could be caught of young men,—it was a grating, but it looked on the street."
Most obviously, the passage mentions that Cosette could see young men through the grating, but the language used to describe the garden ("voluptuous") feels quite sensual. Romance would also be the specific subject Jean Valjean and the nuns couldn't/wouldn't prepare her for; if the nuns ever had experience with that, they swore it off when they became nuns, and Jean Valjean has never experienced romance ("Jean Valjean had never loved anything [. . . . ] [He] had never been father, lover, husband, or friend" - LM 2.4.3). I think Hugo centers romance and relationships for young women in a way that's uncomfortable (even if it's unfortunately realistic in some ways, given that they were financially very important [the struggle of having enough money if unmarried as a woman] and risky because of social pressures [like Fantine being ostracized because she had a child without being married]). Part of the discomfort is also from the way these societal expectations of gender blend with Hugo's ideas, like his notion that Cosette is especially lost because she doesn't have a mother to guide her with the combined experience of being a "virgin" and a "wife." Still, it's true that romance would be difficult for Cosette because she doesn't have someone to easily communicate with on the subject. Jean Valjean is the only person she has right now, and it's not a topic he's very aware of. Rather than the framing here, then, it's a bit more sympathetic if we take it as another instance of the importance of a broad network of social support. Romance would not be as dangerous to Cosette if she had a variety of people to learn from, just as it would have been safer for Fantine if she had had people to fall back on after being abandoned or if people had advised her more directly in the first place about what to expect from a student-grisette romance.
The house is also mixed for Cosette in that it contains remnants of a cage. The convent is the true "compression," so she's free now that she's no longer there. Still, the psychological cage might remain; we don't know if she'll break free of it. The grating is part-cage as well, giving her more freedom than the convent but still constraining her. She can see the world now, but she's not fully in it, either.
Most importantly, Cosette is still a child! Hugo's speculating on her future here, but Cosette just wants to find interesting insects! Her love of searching for creatures feels like a return to the gamins, who do the same when playing; it's a shared trait that defines them as children, regardless of their different backgrounds. They're all still young, so they play.
Her love for her father is so sweet. I adore that she tries to fight against Jean Valjean's total lack of self-esteem by demanding that he treat himself better, or else she'll treat herself the same way:
""Father, I feel very cold in your room; why don't you have a carpet and a stove?"
"My dear child, there are so many persons more deserving than myself who have not even a roof to cover them."
"Then, why is there fire in my room and everything that I want?"
"Because you are a woman and a child."
"Nonsense! then men must be cold and hungry?""
Cosette knows that Valjean would never make her suffer, so if she makes herself live like him, she won't actually live badly. He'll just raise his own standard of living to make sure she's comfortable. Valjean's love for Cosette is one of his main defining traits, but she really loves him, too, and it's great to see that expressed!
I also love that their bond transcends societal expectations and is unique to them. In the passage above, for instance, Cosette questions gendered expectations over what men, women, and children should respectively tolerate, rejecting the idea that women and children should be prioritized over men. Part of it is certainly that she knows her father could be living more comfortably, but it's also because she loves him and doesn't want him to suffer needlessly based on any justification, whether it be others' poverty or gender. She sees Jean Valjean as both her father and mother as well, calling him "father" and imagining him like this:
"When she thought at night before she fell asleep, as she had no very clear idea of being Jean Valjean's daughter, she imagined that her mother's soul had passed into this good man, and had come to dwell near her. When he was sitting down she rested her cheek on his white hair, and silently dropped a tear, while saying to herself, "Perhaps this man is my mother!""
It's especially moving because Valjean sees himself in a similar way, feeling that he is her father because she needed one just as he needed a child, but also "[feeling] pangs like a mother" upon adopting her (LM 2.4.3). Fantine is ever-present in their relationship (and Cosette's dream was both beautiful and sad), but not entirely in an upsetting way. Valjean's feelings are unclear, and Cosette loves her mother, but in a vague way, since she doesn't remember her. But in a spiritual/religious way, Valjean and her mother's spirits have merged to her, preserving what she's heard about her mother's love and combining it with her lived experience of love. It's very sweet, and it makes sense that she would imagine her mother this way after such a religious upbringing.
Unfortunately, the metaphorical prison of the convent and the cage of the grating aren't the only dark shadow in this chapter. The last line is a bit ominous. For context, here it is in English and in French:
"The poor wretch, inundated with an angelic joy, trembled; he assured himself with transport that this would last his whole life; he said to himself that he had not really suffered enough to deserve such radiant happiness, and he thanked God in the depths of his soul for having allowed him—the wretched—to be thus loved by this innocent being."
"Le pauvre homme tressaillait inondé d'une joie angélique; il s'affirmait avec transport que cela durerait toute la vie; il se disait qu'il n'avait vraiment pas assez souffert pour mériter un si radieux bonheur, et il remerciait Dieu, dans les profondeurs de son âme, d'avoir permis qu'il fût ainsi aimé, lui misérable, par cet être innocent."
Jean Valjean is still a "misérable," and he defines his worth through suffering. He's happy with Cosette, which is wonderful! But he also thinks he doesn't deserve her, even if she clearly thinks otherwise. His joy, then, is in constant tension with his status as a misérable, and while Cosette tries to help - she's making him live decently! - she also doesn't know why he has this mindset. Jean Valjean has love, but he still carries the logic of the prison system with him, and by that logic, he will never "deserve" happiness.
#les mis letters#lm 4.3.4#cosette#jean valjean#I just want them to stay happy and accept that they're happy#but Jean Valjean's lack of self-worth is ever-present :(#I love Cosette so much though#she's so funny as a child and she loves her father so much

If the wereroomies gfs were wolves what do you think their role/subgender would be? Please don’t take this as a “hey please turn them”. In my mind it’s an AU based off wereroomies where the entire society are werewolves.
my thoughts down here so ignore if you want
personally I think I feel like pretty mum would be either an alpha with beta tendencies or beta with alpha tendencies. She’s just so Mother and Lady that she has to have alpha somewhere. THE BEST SCENT OMG. She beats Chan in races, both human and wolf forms, allllll the time. Shares any catches she gets
kitten would be omega through and through. In my eyes, she is the definition of hyperfemininity. That wolf would want to be primped, preened, and adored. Minho’s connection with his wolf is still a little wonky but like when his omega looks and smells like that, I don’t know how he functions.
omg they would also have the prettiest wolf forms too. Kitten is probably the littlest wolf and next to Min omg the size. Omg if she was calico colored, so precious. Pretty would be good size, still smaller than all the alphas, like Seungmin size probs. A really nice grey and cream coat with a black tip on her tail
this ask sent my mind into overdrive, because i have thought about this before, and i'm glad i can talk about it sdkjfhsdkjfhsdkjfsdiufh
i love love love your takes, btw! i think they're very accurate, although they don't totally reflect what i've been thinking, i still like them a lot aaaaaaaa
i'm gonna put a cut here bc i'm about to RAMBLE
so, i have changed pretty mum's possible designation so many times.... for me she could be literally anything KJHSDFKFHJSDF but, for now, i have settled on omega with alpha tendencies. However, hers would present VERY differently to Autumn's. her alpha tendencies present mostly on her strong will, and in her leadership skills, more than in her "dominance", if that makes sense. she's very opinionated, and will call you out on your bullshit and do things her way all the time just because she wants them to be done right. like you said, she's very Mother, so of course she's a great leader, too.
now, that Mother-ness in her is also part of her omega qualities. she was just born to be pack mum, you know? and it kinda makes sense, considering she's Chris' true mate. even in this universe, they're soulmates, of course.
i do agree that her wolf form would probably be much bigger than the average omega, which is also part of her alpha traits. and also, because i think it could be a good parallel to her human body and her being plus-size/chubby/etc, y'know? it's such an important part of her character, i feel like it's good that it translates to her wolf form.
with that being said, how do you think Chris and her met each other??? i feel like she'd be part of a different pack, and they'd meet randomly while they're in their wolf forms during a run or something... i can imagine Big Scary Alpha Wolf Chris seeing pretty drinking water from a stream and suddenly his heart rate spikes and the scent of fresh flowers hits him full force.
like, imagine pretty turns around and sees him and is also completely shocked because of the sudden smell of sea air and the huge, very clearly alpha wolf tilting his head to the side and his ears twitching as he takes her in, omg...
Chris would probably walk closer, tentatively to not scare her because he's very much aware that he's huge and scary, but ofc pretty mum doesn't feel threatened at all. and they'll just smell each other for a bit and rub their necks together and and and.... this is so cute, i wish you could see how it's playing out in my head.
idk for some reason pretty will have to leave very quickly and Chris wouldn't have had the time to ask her anything, so he'll spend weeks looking for this wolf, dreaming of her scent and her pretty coat. until one day he's just walking with idk changbin and jisung, and pretty will walk past him and he'll be almost winded by the smell of her scent.
of course he's turning back around, and of course she's already looking at him with wide eyes, and of course she's wearing a pretty sundress. totally the prettiest girl he's ever seen and he just quickly takes a pen out of his bum bag and takes her hand and scribbles his number on it like "hey, i'm Chris, i know i look totally insane, but here's my number. text me, or call me, or anything. if you feel like it, of course" and he'll just LEAVE because he'd be so embarrassed that he'd just done all that JKDHFSDUOFHIFUHWEIFUHSDJ
anyway, of course pretty will text him and they'll start getting to know each other and and and.... sigh.... you get where i'm going with this.
i'm obsessed with this, i won't be able to stop thinking about it for a long time skjdhfiushfseiufhsdf
BUT ANYWAY, now to kitten.
i also really like your take of kitten as a full omega, but i have her down as a beta with omega tendencies. like, people think she's an omega but she's not fully an omega, you know? i also like the idea of jimitten being the trio of designations, if that makes sense... an alpha, a beta, and an omega, all of which have beta somewhere within their traits dsjkfhskjdfhsidfj
she can be both very dominant and very submissive regardless of the setting, she's very multifaceted.
i do agree with the hyperfeminity thing. she'd be tiny for a beta werewolf, and her calico coat, omg. i feel like minho would give her the "kitten" nickname not only because of her coat, but also because she's got this odd habit of grooming herself like a cat.
in this universe, of course she and minho were childhood friends still. of course they both would still be the "Idiots to Lovers" trope incarnate, and of course they'd have jisung as their third musketeer.
they still met while minho was trying to save a litter of kittens, and she still adopted sir percival bc that's Her Child Now.
imagine the snuggle piles, omg. the three wolves and sir percival......
i love this. i love you for sending this ask and making me think about this more in depth, and i love your takes, for real sdkjfhsiuhfweif

I've seen a fair share of posts speculating about what Amphibia would be like if, instead of having strictly Anne as the main character, it made Anne, Sasha and Marcy all main characters. Specifically, the Calamity Trio being given equal screentime.
I've loved pondering over this myself, and I was wondering what you think would change if Amphibia was written this way. I know you said more screentime for Marcy in season one would be pointless, given her lack of a supporting cast or growth as a person, but what if the writers could make it work? e.g. Marcy making actual bonds with the newts in Newtopia and getting over some of her issues (while of course not getting over her biggest issue, that being her fear of losing her friends, until season three)
Do you think Amphibia would be better or worse for being the story of the Calamity Trio rather than the story of Anne? How much of what was set in stone in the original canon would have to be changed to make a more purposeful story? Sorry, this is kind of a handful of questions, I just get carried away thinking about this stuff.
In short, what kind of story would Amphibia be if the Calamity Trio were all main characters? And if it could be just as good or better than canon, how do you think that could work?
So this kind of like anytime someone asks for a major change to TOH's plot and why I assume the S3 we got is at least structurally the same to any sort of S3 we would have gotten for TOH (and why it's BS that a full S3 would have fixed the show). Writers, at least good ones, don't make decisions randomly. Who they decide to focus on, how they focus on them, the roles certain characters take, etc. like that is all important to how a story functions at a basic level. That doesn't mean we can't make unintentional mistakes or have unintended choices by how we frame things but that any truly major shift like this presents a very, VERY real problem.
Is this still recognizably the story that was being told in the first place?
This is why people have asked me how I might rewrite TOH to try and fix its split identity issue but I can't. Not in good faith at least. The split identity is still part of the story's identity and that combination of elements is still part of what people enjoy about the work. It was still a choice that makes the foundation of the work. Deciding to spread the focus is a lot like this for Amphibia.
The story is of a big city girl not just getting teleported to a different world but as different as is potentially possible. Not only are these not humans but they're farm folk. There is no way for Anne to properly have a foothold amongst them to begin with and that's part of why she has so much to learn from them and why it takes so much for her to connect with them properly. The contrast, both in magical and grounded ways, is part of what makes Wartwood work so much better as a setting than Newtopia where it's a little too close to what Anne is used to and you can feel that in the tales being told. Some of the wonder and friction is missing, especially as Anne treats it more as a comfortable place to be.
And comfort is a major driving force behind both Sasha and Marcy's places in the narrative. Marcy is still in the big city and actually gets a level of prestige and respect that she's never had before. She is quite literally friends with the most powerful man in Amphibia. Meanwhile, Sasha spends a while in a cell but she can roll out the red carpet for Anne because the toads ADORE HER. They may be less refined than the plebeians she's used to manipulating but they're still dumb and give into base desires, both traits she can exploit, just like she did with Anne.
These are stories that can be told mind you... But they're also the stories we got already. Marcy's flashbacks still give a good grasp on how easy of a time she had it in Newtopia. Sasha's two episodes in S1 are quite literally all we need to understand who she is, why she was able to take power so effectively and sell us on her being someone who's really good at manipulating others, especially the lazy and hedonistic. They could be expanded but...
With Sasha, anyone giving her friction actually starts harming Anne's character. The more unstoppable we think she is as a manipulator, the more we are allowed to fill in the minor gaps in our knowledge with Anne's beliefs, the more she comes across as a genuinely dangerous antagonist. The more we believe that she can control an army of toads, change things with their regime and be the one who knows how to potentially pull Anne back into her worst habits. That she could take what was earned and with one hard yank make it all come tumbling down. More time with her would very easily become detrimental. As a note: This is why big bads don't often get a lot of episodes where they're doing things, instead of their cronies, because the more they're challenged, the weaker they look.
So that's one character who's story being expanded can very easily damage the very foundation of the MC's character arc while also cheapening that character's skill set, what about Marcy? She is a bit more complicated. See, she is actually far less harmed by more time with her as she has plenty that she can learn and the like as a person... But Newtopia doesn't want a person. They want a mind. And not just the Core. Even Olivia makes it clear that she only treasures Marcy for her mind. The other advisors are friendly with her but not friends. They just... don't care about her.
Worse yet is that from the perspective of Marcy as a main character, Newtopia is a TERRIBLE setting for the sort of stories that Amphibia excels at or tries to tell. She is literally friends with the King. She is smarter than almost anyone else in the city and not pushed to really interact with its populace, just the city itself. She also shouldn't be actively seeking its populace because Marcy is not a people person. She wants Wartwood to like her because they like Anne and she doesn't want to be a weird outside compared to Anne there. She is still liked in Wartwood though so without someone ushering her out the door... What is Marcy doing?
And I can come up with things. I could tell you that the way to make Sasha's story work with more time is show different forms of her manipulation as she gains a band of loyal toads. You can give Marcy a non-royal friend who's interested in the oddity and come on, don't you want to see the non-shiny parts of Newtopia and Amphibia? But that's adding more and more to their stories while taking away from the core.
Because suddenly, you have one girl in their element just flexing on everyone around her while another big city girl is... In another big city. You are now spending much less time on the big city girl coming appreciate different, substantially different viewpoints, realize their way of life is just as valid as her lazy way of life, growing and changing into a better person who genuinely values those around her instead of just wanting someone who lets her have fun and do as little else as possible, etc. like that.
For the sake of the trio... You're losing Amphibia.
That is a big sticking point for me and why I still refuse to call Sasha and Marcy main characters. They're important supporting characters, don't get me wrong, but the story is about Anne and Amphibia. Anne and Wartwood. The choices to spend the VAST majority of our time with her and these settings is not an accident. It's not like Matt chose to just devalue the other two main characters. They were used incredibly effectively, they do a lot to help highlight Anne and her growth and act as milestones for it effectively, and Sasha has a LARGE impact on who Anne is at the beginning of the story.
But it doesn't make them main characters because this isn't their story and there is no way to tell the story of Amphibia with them as the main characters. Focusing purely on the friendship and needing to repair it, or destroy it, is likely going to reinforce different themes, or at least different elements of the themes. After all, you can still talk about change but paradoxically, focusing in on the trio like this, even if it means spending more time in different parts of Amphibia, excludes the community element that is so important to Amphibia. After all, now you're splitting focus between three communities and focusing the story on the arcs of these three human girls. That's going to require a lot less time fleshing out these side characters. Diminishes the impact any of them can have on any character. The Plantars do a lot for Anne after all but we understand that it is WARTWOOD that changes her, not just the Plantars. Would we get that if you now had to split the focus this much?
Also, we lose Reunion in any way it is right now because with Marcy taking a more prevalent role, S1 HAS to end with a confrontation of all three. The first time they meet together. To leave any one out would be to diminish their role. Marcy isn't as important, especially to Anne's character, as Sasha is in the version we got so it's fine for her not to be present for Reunion. But... How do you handle Sasha's arc if all three have to come back together at once?
And to justify having brought up TOH earlier, how likely does all of this start a split personality problem for Amphibia? With Anne as the focus, you only get a handful of episodes that aren't genuinely Amphibia. Capital letter Amphibia. You know know what to expect and you know what sort of story is going to happen and that creates a nice, fun, comfortable status quote you can enjoy from week to week. Now imagine if Marcy's writing is still weaker like it was in the show, or the toads fail to be compelling because in order to keep Sasha as the antagonist of the group, they keep just setting themselves up to be knocked over by her and by the third time, it's getting kind of boring? Suddenly, one third of the show is causing friction with someone, especially since all three, due to DRASTICALLY different settings, would cause inherently very different storytelling just because the sorts of issues are so different. This is part of why the vibe of S3B is so different because finally we are not at peace, we are at war. Even the shifts from a guard tower that exploits people, a big city where the MC is treated as effective royalty, and a small farm town is enough to cause some amount of friction to happen between settings.
I'm not saying that this story is literally impossible to tell well but... Man, it'd be INCREDIBLY hard. And, of course, it still wouldn't be Amphibia. It would look like Amphibia, some of the notes would sound like Amphibia, but it would just be a very, VERY different story.
Because like TOH found out after Yesterday's Lie, you can't just change who your character fundamentally is without MAJOR consequences to your storytelling. Splitting your main character three ways is going to yield similarly discordant results without writing the entire thing from the ground up.
But it's not the same story and as I LOVE the story we got, I would say trying to force Amphibia into this mold would only make it worse, if I could compare it at all.
======+++++======
This is by no means a comprehensive list btw of all that would potentially be lost, need to be changed, etc. like that so as to even make this sort of shift for Amphibia work. Like someone in my Discord when I mentioned this ask brought up how the impact of Sasha coming into Anne's life and the tension of Reunion would kind of be lost if we already know Sasha fairly well. It is... Complicated to put it mildly.

Thoughts about other clans
Thoughts on the other clans that Hiashi cared to remember of Konoha!
Uchiha:
One of the founding clans and nobles of the village. Powerful and prideful clan, deserving of the respect they had! Their only downside was... Fugaku. That idiot.
Hatake:
Now I'm going to pretend Kakashi is a representation of the clan, as I have very little memory of any other members aside from his father. In any case, they're a powerful clan if even his father could rival the three sannin in terms of strength. I'm almost surprised it wasn't considered a noble clan, especially because of Hatake's reputation! Now if only he'd do something about his need to walk around reading a damn porn book. That's the only habit I'm hoping the clan didn't share.
Inuzuka:
Excellent trackers and loyal to their goals, cause, and partners. Although outside of missions, they're incredibly noisy, run around all day, and act like animals when angered. They probably smell just like their ninken from always having those hounds around! Oh, and their leader likes to bite me at any moment she feels like it. I dislike her sometimes.
Aburame:
....They frighten me. They're the most discreet of all the clans, all while having some... ungodly and unsavory capabilities, especially because of those insects they wield. I have never seen the clan collectively angry, as they always keep up such a still, monotone stature. But I always reckon that the day even one is truly angered is the end of times for the village. They are the clan one must always keep an eye on.
Akimichi:
I regard them as the most well meaning, good hearted people of the village. No, really. They're often the first ones to put themselves forward if for the sake of their comrades, especially the Nara and Yamanaka. And visitors are always treated like old family friends. But keep in mind you will not be leaving that clan household hungry, they feed guests a little too well-
Nara:
Some of the most intelligent people there is. Yet somehow also some of the laziest you will meet, with the leader and his son being the worst of them! I cannot fathom how they can live like that.
Yamanaka:
Boast some of the greatest understanding of botany and the human mind, thanks to that signature jutsu of theirs. Now, I don't truly like visiting the clan household itself because the last thing I need is someone probing into my mind or taking control over my body. I would probably drive them mad.
Uzumaki:
I know only two Uzumaki, but both are quite similar: confident, brash, loud, quick to get annoyed, and a large amount of chakra. However the first Uzumaki I knew of had red hair (which she insisted was an Uzumaki trait) yet there's that one I saw at the chunin exams and he had... bright yellow hair. You know, like a highlighter. Also, this kid is about a thousand times more of a crackhead than Kushina ever was! It's concerning.
Sarutobi:
They're...something of a clan, alright. Not much to say about them, really.
Hiashi: I believe that's all the clans of the village.
Hinata: Father, I-I think there's still some other clans you didn't mention.
Hiashi: If I didn't mention them, they weren't important enough to be remembered.
#hyuga clan blog#Admin note: I typed a lot here I apologize#also this is sorta hiashi pov of the clans cause yknow#older and had more time to get impressions
