Thank you for your sweet ask, I genuinely hope you stayed around long enough to see me actually posting this🩵 I know it's been a while

• I firmly believe Luke is a big fan of cheek kisses

• (though do not underestimate the effect of a well timed forehead kiss)

• it is not important to him whether they are a greeting or a goodbye, meant for consolation or celebration, an expression of thankfulness, appreciation, pride, happiness, hope, or just because...

• he welcomes them all equally

• despite everything he's been through, cheek kisses have a way to make him feel safe and warm

• grounded

• taken care of

• almost like he's back home on Tatooine, Aunt Beru's little boy

• with every single one he remembers the people he loves, has loved, and still does

• Leia especially

• he remembers that he is not alone

• through them he is momentarily able to look back on what once was and what could have been, with anything else other than the heavy sadness he carries along wherever he goes

• he may hide it well but it is there

• on a lighter note, he very much enjoys doling them out himself

• (especially ANH Luke and, though no one would believe so at first, post-RotJ Luke)

• (if asked about it he'll probably deny it though)

• (he holds back with Chewie because one time he somehow ended up with his mouth full of hair, and while HE didn't particularly mind, Chewie was rather embarrassed)

• (Han has yet to stop mentioning it)

• he enjoys their simplicity, the way they're just as universally understood as a smile or a hug

• the way they are so easy to share among friends and loved ones, among family, surpassing every language's barrier

• should words ever fail him it's one of the gestures he impulsively reverts to

• to show he cares

• (sadly this endearing quality has slowly faded over the years as he grew older and now even he barely remembers that old habit of his)

• (maybe that Jedi training is to blame for it, he actually thinks now before acting)

• most importantly though, Luke's favorite cheek kisses are, were, and always will be, those given to him by you

• naturally

• and even as you grow old together that never changes

• with age he cultivates a beard though

• he likes the grumpy and slightly crazed edge it adds to his look whenever he keeps it a little unkempt

• (meeting Yoda on Dagobah left a serious impression on him)

• (he likes feeling connected to him in that way)

• (and messing with his new students)

• (he brushes off all allegations)

• said beard is kind of scratchy though and your skin so sensitive

• it has become a running gag between the two of you

• you ducking away half amused and half annoyed whenever he leans in for a little smooch

• "Luke! No, stop! You're irriating my skin"

• and him not caring, instead doubling his efforts to smother your entire face with kisses

• and then acting all huffy and puffy at your continued giggling resistance

• "am I not allowed to show my love anymore??"

• he'll sulk like a little boy until you eventually give in and press your lips to his cheek

• preferably several times

• you're instantly forgiven of course

• though he makes a show of grumbling to himself even afterwards

• (while secretly loving your attention and silently laughing to himself)

• (he's a lovestruck fool)

• (a long and hard life didn't manage to change everything about him after all)

But let's take it from the beginning!

• Luke evolves a lot over a relatively short period of time, something which definitely reflects in the way he reacts to you giving him a sweet kiss on the cheek for the first time

• pre ANH Luke ends up basically intoxicated

• to a point he can't really believe what just happened

• YOU kissed HIM???

• his heart is beating so strongly in his chest he feels a little light-headed

• suddenly he doesn't know where to look anymore

• his face stings, he's sure he's blushing

• hopefully you won't point it out to make fun of him

• (of course you don't)

• where just a few seconds ago your soft lips had been, is now the center of his galaxy

• it's like he can still feel them, how their warmth lingers

• already he's thinkink about how to get around having to wash his face tonight

• he wants to keep your kiss for a little while longer

• simultaneously he's painfully aware you're still right there beside him and oh Force, what is he supposed to do now?!

• in an instant he makes an effort to somehow play down the enormousity of his emotions, to make it seem a little less like this is basically the best thing that has ever happened to him (!!!!)

• he'll squint into the suns, his hand shielding his eyes, and blurt out something mundane, something completely at random

• maybe about the weather

• nevertheless you can easily see how effected he is by the way he can't stop grinning like an idiot

• (you're uncertain whether he's even aware of it as well)

• on his way home he has a skip in his step, even having to stifle a few small giggles now and then, as he replays the scene in his head again and again

• due to the circumstances ANH Luke does not have the novelty of enjoying a kiss from you to such extents

• this doesn't mean however that he's in any way less thrilled about it

• he simply has less time to really let it sink in since he's kind of busy stumbling from one fatal situation into the next

• instead he tucks it away nicely among his other memories, to be looked at when he has a quiet moment to himself

• (there's a high chance of him completely forgetting about it until much later, possibly remembering it only in the middle of the night when he's trying to sleep)

• (best believe he'll be sitting up faster than anyone can blink)

• (he needs to FOCUS to recall the moment as closely as humanly possible)

• having had the chance to mature a little by now, ESB Luke is not so entirely caught off guard by a kiss than he would've been a few weeks or months before

• maybe he saw it coming, maybe he didn't, he's happy to welcome it either way

• it massively strokes his ego

• he must be really cool if YOU, of all people, wanted to kiss him!

• (and not Han, ha!)

• (totally checks if Han saw and is massively pleased if he did)

• absolutely spends most of his limited free time thinking about how he can get you to do it again

• may or may not end up a little distracted in the long run and will struggle to pay attention to everything Yoda is trying to teach him on Dagobah

• Yoda naturally knows what's going on and is not amused

• (only a very small amount)

• (on second thought maybe a lot though)

• the only thing that eventually calms him down enough to focus, is his plan for when he'll see you again

• he vows to spend as much time in your immediate vicinity

• and to react quickly enough if you DO give him another kiss, to catch your arm (or more preferably your waist) so he can kiss you back

• at night when he thinks Yoda is asleep and R2 is not watching he practices on his hand

• just to be sure he won't make you uncomfortable or embarrass himself

• RotJ Luke is going through it and I can see him possibly lacking the emotional capacity to fully work through what your kiss does to him

• not because he doesn't want to

• he does

• because even though the excitment to have gained your affection is subdued, muffled, in a way, he's over the moon

• in his own quiet way

• (if he's being honest he's not really sure if this means what he hopes it does, or if it was merely a friendly gesture)

• (in hindsight he's glad he never had the time to overthink it)

• mostly he's afraid though

• afraid that any involvement with him could get you into serious trouble

• or worse, hurt

• especially now

• already this has happened way too often for his liking

• but in between rescuing Han, learning the truth about his family from a dying Yoda and then having to face both his father and the Emperor, I'm afraid proper communication gets a little lost

• to you it might seem like he brushed you off

• like the kiss you gave him meant nothing

• and yet you know there is much more to it, how unlike him it would be to let whatever you shared fall apart quietly and without notice

• even if he perceived it as just a friendship

• you wait for him and in the end he comes looking for you, as you had hoped, beyond grateful you did not walk away when you could have easily done so

• under the fireworks on Endor the both of you embrace tightly, and during a quiet moment, when nobody is looking, Luke gifts your kiss back to you
