there can also be freedom in using it/its pronouns for oneself (as i do) in a subhuman way - forcefully placing myself on the bottom of y'alls (not at the op) fucked up hierarchies. if you have to have one to begin with i will make you put me on the bottom and you can either confront what that means for you or not, it's not my problem, you know?

i AM less than human, i won't let people hide from the fact that that's how i've been treated and led to view myself as a result

it has nothing to do with my own feelings about myself because 'less than human' doesn't mean anything to me when it's a bullshit metric to begin with. i am myself and that is all i need to be, i have no desire to be above or even equal to people who have decided that 'less than human' creates an inherent lack of value in the first place

Today I was helping run the booth for the local queer non-profit at the farmer's market and a woman told me that she would like a flag, pointing to our little bucket of flags. So I picked up the bucket and I brought it over and asked her which one she'd like.

Or like you just don't get what the 'big deal' is about sex or why everyone is so weird about it? But there's also room for like- you don't fall in love with the way someone looks, you're attracted to the person- their sense of humor and their kindness, or there's something about their personality that just makes it click for you? That's asexuality, too!"

And she got real quiet and seemed to think about it for a minute. So I grabbed our little informational sheet about different queer identities and handed her a copy. "If you want to do some research, this is probably a great place to start."

Sometimes when you're online all the time, its easy to think that 'everyone knows about (topic), there's no reason to keep talking about it so much.' But while the people on the internet are real people, the internet ISN'T real life. And there are lots of people who do need to know that they do have community!

obviously the answer to this is to be curious and proactive now that i have greater access to the world around me, but i do feel a kind of bitter grief whenever i'm confronted by evidence of how much of popular culture and just general knowledge about the world around me i missed out on growing up by being near-isolated in a household where my information intake was fairly strictly monitored, and most of what i accessed had to be done secretly, and in fear, for my entire childhood. i had no friends, no role models except my parents and their close friends - few of whom were particularly inspiring or diverse in their behaviours or views - and my education was fine, but it was all pretty standard by-the-book stuff that didn't encourage much independent thought on its own. if it hadn't been for the internet and the local library, i would have been even more cut off from the outside world. and now i find myself constantly confronted with things that people assume are common knowledge, but for me are brand new never-before-seen revelations. it's embarrassing. it's not like i grew up in a sterile white room cut off from society, i just didn't know that there was more available to me until i left home. and now i'm stuck playing catch-up on things most people are already familiar with, knowing that isolation and neglect may be reasonable excuses for ignorance, but they won't change the fact that i am ignorant, and small-minded, and naive.

Some time ago I was struggling with my romance repulsion, as in my circles I've often been criticized or put down for specifically being romance repulsed. (I'm aroace) I find it something I can't help being icked by, and I don't think that was quite understood... I ended up seeking out other aroace peoples stories and ended up feeling very hurt and having a breakdown over supposedly being 'romance negative.' Thank you for validating my experiences! For Romance Repulsed, I don't think there is anything wrong with the term as it describes the experience as is. The Term itself is not an issue, but rather the ingrained idea that people have about those who dislike romance. People moralize the idea of romance and if you don't like it then you are marked as morally bad. No matter what word we use for it, some people will simply never accept that some people just don't like romance or find romance gross. It's a problem with society in general, not with the term "romance repulsed" If you mean Romance Negative: then yes. That is an incredibly harmful term and overall doesn't actually exist in the way people act like it does. People tend to use it as the "Romance version of sex negativity" but people ignore WHAT Sex negativity is and MEANS. Sex negativity is the religious political belief that Sex in of itself is inherently sinful and wrong. Seeking sex for pleasure is inherently sinful and wrong and the ONLY reason sex should be had is strictly to make women have as many babies as possible. Sex negativity is a fascist conservative political stance that is made to target specific groups of people as a form of controlling them and in some cases prosecuting and eradicating them from society. There is no form of "Romance negativity" that reflects Sex negativity. Romance Negativity is not a political stance. there are no countries out there that are specifically targeting romance the same way they do sex. yes, some countries focus more on arranged marriages but they are not making laws to outlaw romance. the closest you get is laws banning gay marriage and gay relationships, but most of those are only toeing the line of romance negativity and more accurately fall into sex negativity as anti-gay laws usually fearmonger by using sex, not romance. Anti-gay laws are labeling gay relationships as romance-less and sexually deviant/predatory. Romance negativity in its use now does not exist. It probably will never exist. a minority group being grossed out by it is not oppressive. Hell, even if some romance repulsed people are treating romance as something morally bad, it still is not oppressive enough to be on the same level as sex negativity. Some rando on the internet cannot ban you from being in a romantic relationship the same way someone could take away you sexual freedom via bogus laws. There is no Romance Negativity. I tend to laugh at the people who use that word with any ounce of seriousness. Sorry to bother (and sorry if I come across as hostile, this is very /nm) but I'm confused about the AI policy. You guys rightfully point out that feeding another person's work into an AI and posting the result will be disallowed because it's theft. But other AI works will be allowed, even though every single AI that's currently publicly available to people is trained on works (art or writing) that are scrapped without the creator's consent. Even AI that people use to just 'enhance a work' as you guys put it, does so by comparing said work to the scrapped pieces the AI was trained on. Which were stolen.

So what you're basically saying is people aren't allowed to steal themselves, but they're allowed to use a tool made from stolen works? Where's the sense in that?

I'm honestly very disappointed. In the past year, fancreators (and creators in general) have needed to jump through increasingly tight hoops to keep their work from being fed to AI against their will, and it still happens a lot. And now there's this big event that is supposed to stand in solidarity and be /for/ creators, and you're going to allow people to use a tool that in its current structure is inherently amoral and exploitive of other creators?

AI tools are used in visual art to create effects, backgrounds, and other enhancements, so to say we're banning AI is like saying we're banning use of Photoshop. AI is used for the predictive text and spellchecker that's running while I type this reply. Accessibility tools rely on AI. People train their own bots on their own works to produce conversations with characters or role play a situation before writing prose. These are all legitimate uses of AI tools that we feel allow inclusivity to this event.

The mods cannot and will not police every single posted work for AI involvement. You don't have to post your work to be a participant. You don't have to prove you created 31 fanworks in October. You don't have to include your work in AO3 collections, or tag it, or strictly follow the prompts, or anything really. This isn't a contest and there aren't cash prizes. This event is about challenging oneself and being part of a community of fans all doing a fun fan thing together across different fandoms.

This mod is an English teacher and LOATHES ChatGPT as cheating. I agree with you that bots are trained by unscrupulous people scraping text without permission and it's shitty behavior. But we can't stop that, nor can we undo damage already done, and banning AI use (especially since we can't enforce it) is an empty stand on a hill that's already burning, at least in our view of things. And it alienates those who use AI tools for accessibility or any of the reasons cited above.

Once again, you do not have to post anywhere to participate. If you're worried about scraping and you don't want to lock your work, don't post it. It's always been the case that if you post something on the internet it can be used by others in ways you neither intend nor condone. It sucks that people are like that, and you have to do what makes you feel safe and comfortable, and that's OK.

I stated there that details regarding the T-shirt contest would be released closer to the date, and today I'm making good on that particular promise.

On Thursday, March 28, I encourage everyone interested to submit your t-shirt design to the #garwin day 2024 tag and/or tag @arson-anarchy-death and me in your post. You can make as many as you would like, but please designate only one to be entered into judging.

Whomever submits the t-shirt design that is the most Garwin--the guidelines for which are a black box algorithm that will not be disclosed due to its proprietary nature--will be deemed the Gar-winner and recieve:

An art request which I will attempt to fulfill in a reasonable amount of time OR a fic request that can be fulfilled in a thousand words or less

There are a couple of different methods enumerated under the cut, along with certain supplementals if you're like me and not very good at this whole art thing. These will not be judging categories--everyone is in the same boat--but the numbered list is nice to my brain.

Questions, comments, concerns? Please send me an ask! There's a good chance I haven't thought of every single edge case, so let me know if there's anything I can help to clarify.

1. The first option is the classic 'just draw the whole thing'. If you were already planning Garwin art before this announcement, feel free to eliminate two stones with one bird in that artwork; make sure the t-shirt is readable enough for judging purposes. Anything and everything else is fair game. (Both digital and traditional accepted)

2. Option two: DTYIS (Garwin templates provided below). Anything from full DTYIS to a screenshot that is drawn upon (however MS paint-looking that may end up being) falls into this bullet point.

3. If MS paint isn't the style you have in mind and you'd rather not spend the next three days perfecting your font-writing skills, I have the solution for you. I created the above Garwin template with this customink tshirt as a guide. This allows for both easier photoshopping if you would like to paste it onto the Garwin template or the ability to simply submit screenshots of your customink design.

The only method I'm going to discourage is finding a picture of a t-shirt on the internet and submitting that as your contest entry. Always online, busted servers, unreal stuttering, a progression system that pits cooperative players against each other for said progression, an ass backwards weapon progression system, no solo mode (as in ACTUAL non-internet non-lagging able-to-pause solo mode), always online (again), lack of basic options like throwable outlines to outline ammo packs???, like

I like "playing" it when I can, but these are things that either prevent you from doing so outright (did I mention busted servers? You can't play the game right now without waiting 30-50 minutes in a queue, like a lonely DPS in a wow LFR), or will become more and more grating as time goes on because at its core the decisions spit at what payday is supposed to be.

I mean for fuck's sake there's apparently very very very little reason to even go for loot or do bonus objectives! Apparently that's strictly cash!

I've already thought about how labels are tools, and are still useful even if it doesn't 100% fit, but now I'm questioning the inverse. Do you continue using a label if it only feels like it fits on a technicality?

Gonna tread lightly with this one, as its the first time I'm writing with focus on questioning my asexuality, and will get close to things more personal than I'd like to talk about ESPECIALLY still being a year and a half away from being 18. So there's more thoughts I have on this than I'm going to put out onto the internet. Plus, alot of these posts I'm making are just me guessing how I feel about what my future could be like post transition, there's no real way of actually knowing how I will feel, I've been crawling in the dark. I've already talked about Aromanticism in a different post, and how I can happily see myself in a relationship post transition, and I find it hard to tell what romantic attraction is, but it is very possible that I do/ will feel it. Knowing this, I concluded that no matter my thoughts on it, the label fits for now, I'll keep using it, even if I doubt how strictly true it is.

And the same goes for asexuality, but I hadn't really questioned it until now. So, if I picture myself in the future, as a woman, am I asexual?

Well yeah. I don't feel sexual attraction, thats very unlikely to change, I'm asexual by definition. But I do have desires. If I had a romantic partner as a girl, I would want to do things with them. So the proper terminology would be Sex favourable Ace, alloromantic? But at a certain point, if I feel romantic attraction, and want to have sex with someone Im in a romantic relationship with, why bother with the Ace label? It feels more like being Ace on a technicality.

Why does this idea bother me so much? I am what I am, that's all there is to it, I shouldn't be getting attatched to a preference like this when any preference is okay. why am I so attatched to asexuality as a part of my identity?

Another aspect most people would consider is bottom dysphoria, which I very much have, but for reasons I understand that I'm not sharing, I dont think bottom dysphoria is a factor in this.

It has been a while since these people gave trouble huh?

Recently, when coming back from my Uni, I've noticed an increase in the soldiers that walk around the train stations, well, it appears that they all come from the same source, a police warehouse that's a few streets from my house, so I decided to go and take a peek yesterday since, for... Obvious reasons, it's on the way to my house, and when I got there, oh did I find something interesting.

When I got near the facility, I was greeted with a considerable crowd lining for who knows what, so I tried to blend between them and listen to the police. Apparently, they were showing the facility to the new recruits that enrolled themselves to participate in the tech support program, making this the "base" for the new tech team from now on, I got in with the rest of the crowd and then our phones were searched by Espimon, a Child level digimon, they didn't find anything on me since my partners were on the Digimon DOCK, so that was a close one, but aside from that, they gave a little instruction of transferring some data to our phones, and I had to accept, tho I obviously transferred it to my Digimon DOCK to analyze it, apparently it was a roughly made Digitama, only god knows what could come out of there, so I asked Kuzuhamon to create an incubator for it and Spinomon to look over it, while Cannondramon makes some memory and tries to tell us what could come out of there, tho as I said it's roughly made, so it could take a while for it to hatch, like some sturdy eggs in certain JRPG games, tho, I hope this is not one of those bad eggs also present there. Anyways, after this they got us all together and gave us a presentation about their plans... And this plan is one hell of a threat.

「1. Gather as many soldiers as possible and train them on the use of Digital Monsters, equipping the lowest ranking ones with Commandramon and Sealsdramon, letting the best ranking ones use Perfects trained by themselves and rank up those who were able to get Ultimates so they can be the heads of the next part of the operation.

2. Recolecting as much weapon data as possible, will it be data of normal weapons, or weapons used by digimon and storage them inside a server strictly dedicated to that.

3. Deconstructing the data from these weapons to create the "Ultimate weapon" and prove it's efficiency by attacking small countries internet servers.

4. Once its efficiency is proven, hand it to the higher ups at the military so they can hand it "to them"」

I'm pretty sure "them" must be the government, having a powerful digital weapon with enough power for it to be proved on whole external servers is something any government would want so they can use it as a thread to leave an enemy nation incommunicado, and attack them irl as of what this ultimate weapon may be, I still put my bets on Ragna Lordmon, it's a powerful digimon that could absolutely do this, so I should be preparing to face it from now on.

After this horrific speech, the little reunion ended, once we got out, I noticed that everyone was looking at their phones, and when I peeked to see what they were doing, I realized that their eggs were hatching, with Fufumon coming out in millions, as of now however, the one I got has not hatched... Yet, it's been a day, and I don't know how much it may take to hatch, but know that I'll keep you updated on that, as of now, I'm preparing for the next tournament fight, this time against a Lavogaritamon and a WereGarurumon, an interesting combo, specially for me since Stiffilmon has a natural rivalry with that species, but I'll leave that for another day.

I'll start with the fact that I don't think I'd say something is "happening" to you. People tend to just read and gravitate toward what piques their interest. The exploration of which is kinda your own thing to navigate and, subsequently, to determine what that means to you. I randomly talk about finding identity through engagement with queer media but it's not something I'd project onto a stranger. Fetishization tends to be a really harmful byproduct of the prevalence of BL specifically so, as a cautionary thing, I'd ask you to consider whether you feel that's a component of your concern.

I will say I don't think it's weird. Apparently my blog has become an open ended discussion about BL lol but my IRL friends and I, in addition to BL, try to read stories with other alternative representation, as well. For context, I'm a black woman. Growing up, none of the books I read had main characters that looked like me or stories that intimately captured my experience as a black girl that I could project myself upon. (Even so, when asked some time ago for my favorite characters, a lot of them still didn't look like me but I was still able to inherently identify with them for one reason or another). These days, you're able to find stories, shows, movies, etc. that more realistically reflect the world we find ourselves in with diverse representation of race, disabilities, gender identity and expression and orientation (just to name a few).

We still have a long ways to go but, without adequate representation, there are probably a lot of people who would never consider 1) other people's perspective and experience within a world that has a lot of systemic issues, 2) that there are other alternatives to strictly being comphet, or 3) the challenges we take for granted for differently abled people.

I'm not an expert, I'm very much still sorting myself out in every way imaginable. I am, quite literally, just some nerd on the internet with gratuitously impassioned rants about anime so my credentials are lacking. But if you need my gold seal of approval - I think you're okay. It's okay to like what you like, whether that be media wise or people wise if that's what you're worried about. (Uh.. provided its not harmful?). Drink the wine (consensually) and be less concerned with the label. Additionally, I think there are a lot of icons out there that can probably offer better guidance, if not in a Q&A capacity, still in just existing and seeking to educate others that might be cool to check out like alokvmenon on IG and maybe some books that take alternative perspectives into consideration?

hi, i saw your song on youtube, it was p great!! i do however wonder if putting it on spotify would be a breach of clown's "tos" on welcome home?

I sure hope not??? But i'll obviously take it down if Clown has a problem with it- I made announcements in my discord server to respect Clown's boundaries so I'm not about to turn around and blatantly disrespect them myself- But to be clear:

I wasn't going to put it on Spotify to begin with, It was going to be a strictly Youtube and Tiktok exclusive. It's only being put up on Spotify now, several days after it released on Youtube, because people keep asking me for it.

I've never made like....a full fledged song before, and didn't think this one was that good- I basically thought it was too lack luster and repetitive- to amateur musician for anyone to REALLY like it...but that wasn't the case- The song blew up on Tiktok, and blew up on Youtube, and is being used to make other things with or without my permission- and somewhere along the line the ONLY comments I was getting were just asking me to put it on Spotify. I've seen other fan-made-songs put up on Spotify and I don't think its any different then getting ad revenue from Youtube for the same song, for the same reasons. It's not like i'm putting it behind a paywall- It'll still be available on Youtube and Tiktok as always- It'll just now ALSO be up on Spotify.

I feel just terrible for how Clown's being treated (Some people might know that I posted as soon as their hiatus started that I hoped people would be nice to them while they were gone because I was scared this exact scenario would happen, with the internet being....well.... the internet, and with my hyperfixation on Welcome Home dating back to more than a year before it blew up, making it somewhat of a comfort source for me) and use the ad money to support their Kofi- but again- I will respect them if they ask for it to be removed or anything.

sorry, this is kind of a weird question. Do you think it's important for teens on the internet to have healthy friendships with adults and/or vice versa? I spent a long time completely keeping myself away from anyone under 18, and I've only recently begun to hang out in places not strictly for adults. I feel like a villain for even talking to teens, even though I'm not doing anything wrong.

short answer is history, sociology and behavioral science say absolutely. while I dont think any adult is obligated to be friends with teens if they dont want to or dont feel comfortable or have their own issues preventing that, I do also believe that its important for people of all ages to interact with and learn how to have healthy relationships with people of all ages.

we are a social species and community is very important for both our survival and our mental health. getting to know people who are different from us and having meaningful interactions with them and building relationships across all demographics will always be beneficial to everyone involved. ideally, a healthy individuals social circle includes people from young children all the way up through to the elderly.

I think its important for teens to be able to have a wide support network of adults who they can come to for support, guidance, to model behavior, and to overall give teens positive examples of what their futures as people can and will look like. I think this is important for many reasons and has many benefits to both the teens and the adults

because I also think it's important and beneficial for adults to interact with people younger than them. to be introduced to new ideas and new ways of thinking and keep themselves from getting stuck in old ways or becoming too jaded. I think its important for adults to be able to remember what it was like to experience things for the first time and maintain compassion and understanding for people who come after them

again, this doesn't mean adults are obligated to do this and I dont think someone is a bad person or doing something wrong if they can't or don't want to, but I do think it's important and beneficial and I do think that society suffers when people become too isolated in their own age brackets

I also think things like the youth liberation movement are extreamly important and bring a lot of these conversations to the forefront in breaking down how adults oppress children and how our unhealthy attitudes, which include avoidance due to fear of being predatory for even talking to teens, negatively affect both minors and adults. I think if ur looking to get more comfortable having teens and other ppl of varying ages in ur social circle then reading thru youth lib stuff is a really good place to start in changing and unpacking how u view teens

Mario Translation Archive: I... don't know Japanese. This can be a bit of a problem when so many things I'm a fan of were originally written in Japanese and later localized to English, often with lore-relevant changes or mistakes. I can't really contribute to the translation part of it myself, but I can do the book-keeping. So I'm essentially building a megafolder of the text of all the games in the Mario franchise, and incorporating whatever translations I come across. At the moment it's mostly SPM stuff, but SMRPG is coming along.

SMRPG Relocalized Text Archive: This is pretty much entirely done, but it hasn't been incorporated into the broader translation archive for a few reasons. One is, as the name says, the hack is in many ways a re-localization, meaning it's not always accurate to the actual Japanese, which is the point of the archive.
