Some kind of story how Gid and Kremy got him(I'm bad at making stories srry):

Basically, Gid and Kremy found his egg in the bushes near some lake deep in the forest when they wanted to make some "ironic" picnic date there. When they found his egg they waited some time to make sure if someone will comeback for him, but after 2 hours no one came they realized that the egg was abandoned and so Kremy's parent instincts started to kick in and they decided to take it. Something like that :d

managed to finish another decent ish piece so here's narinder's inutial design!! as always probably will change later

we're living by furry laws in this house so "head fur" aka hair is an option and im using it. period. another unpopular(??) choice is giving narinder a fur pattern, and don't get me wrong i love the pure black void nari, but as an artist i enjoy making up details to draw, so i indulged myself here. (but if i ever were to draw comics with him i would simplify it or just make him all-black, because repeating this every frame is a misery. fun for a one-off ref sheet tho)

not a lot of lore stuff for the guy since the idea of the au is still fresh and im figuring it all out, but there're design inspirations under the cut if you're interested!!

sooo lets go

i wanted narinder to have that dramatic sharp featured og cartoon villain look, so i took inspiration from oriental longhairs for the facial structure and from maine coons for fluffy dramatics. also i just love using maine coons as cat references. look at those things. marvellous.

from the very start (pretty much) my brain was consistently giving me images of narinder with hair, specifically dark long-ish straight-ish, so i tried to walk this mental image backwards to find the origins of it, and i think scar and ozai are my best bets. in my first sketches narinder had shoulder length hair with slight waves, but in the end i opted for long and straight. not really a reason to, just was vibing better to me

clothes are pretty standard narinder robes i think. i find it funny that fandom unanimously gave him basically a priest outfit, and i like it too, so i kept it. that red stripe gave me a little bit of a headache though, couldn't get it to look okay and not weird or tacky. i think i managed. i had to contain my urge to design him an intricate outfit with different textiles and embroidery and shit, but i try to keep it at least somewhat tied to logic and the au, and let's say that no-one was willing to do something this elaborate for narinder for quite some time

see the narinder's claw relic and the whole do no evil motive. the most evil narinder directly did was the injures he inflicted on his siblings, and he did it by, quoting shamura, "such sharp claws". so yeah, that tracks. funfact i considered taking only one of his claws, from the left ring finger, because the relic is "narinder's claw" singular, but "callamar's ear" relic is also one ear and not two, so it didn't feel kike a good enough basis to take only one claw yk. so sorry big cat, all your claws are now gone

• lamb did kill narinder after defeating him. there's nothing on the pic that's tied to that fact, just thought it would be interesting to know

Redesign of my little goober Kaleidoscope!!!

When I tell you I had so much fun redesign this guy omg there were some points where I was kicking my feet while drawing

I’ve always kinda didn’t like how the original design for them came out. When I posted their design it was taken with a lot of love from you guys and I was really happy to finally get my drawings out their, but something always bothered me about it. It was so…boring in a way. They way I draw them looked like they had the personality of a stale cracker. Also for a dragon with the name Kaleidoscope, they weren’t very eye popping or colorful to me. Also I hated their colors. The only things that I kept about the original design was the mobility aid and their wings.

When making the ref sheet, the main thing I wanted to do was give them at least a little bit of personality. I tried to do this with their body language, like how they stand up tall and proper with their head slightly tilted up with an almost smug look on their face. I headcanon the SilkWings have 3 sets of arms/legs, but not many use them in the way Kaleidoscope does. They also uses their hands a lot, not just when their working but also when they talk. It’s almost unsettling to other dragons when they talk to them. I wanted to try to convey this value of their hands by drawing them so it kinda looks like their showing them off.

Also yes, I did give them a beard. Tbh I’m not the biggest fan of the fluffy SilkWings, I can totally get like the chest fluff and other little things, but I don’t really like it when it’s all fur and not scales. I did want to add a bit of hair to them though, and I love the idea of giving dragons beards. I saw a post once and it was someone’s drawing about how they prefer facial hair on icewings instead of fluffy ones, I don’t remember who the post was made by but I really really like this idea I would like to give some credit to you for the idea.

Hello,

I know this is out of the blue, but when things happen they don't give you a forewarning.

I was involved in a car accident yesterday. Fresh with a new N, only had my car for a week to myself, I found myself hydroplaning into a traffic control post and side-swiping a car in the process.

Thankfully, they got off with cosmetic damage and a cracked tail-light as i avoided rear-ending them.

Myself, however, ended up with a banged bumper, a passenger mirror nearly beheaded and a crack radiator. Lucky, considering what could have happened, but still terrifying.

It was after this i learned that my insurance wouldn't cover the collision, meaning I'd have to cover everything out of pocket. Money I don't really have at the moment. Not with the other debts I've been steadily paying off.

I don't know the grand total yet, I'm still waiting for my car to be released so I can take it to a body shop. But from how expensive cars can be, with some insight from those around me, I can make a good guess at a "starting" amount. I'll update the total once I know though.

But I'm now asking for help. I don't expect anything for free, I will be making things in exchange. I've wanted to open commissions for a while, its just sad that what made me finally pull the trigger is when I'm in trouble. I'll link my kofi, the prices will be set to pay-as-you-want. I'll work out details for what people want, and I'll have a list of things I don't think I can do.

aph!! i like to think that although the incarnations of the divine warriors r generally pretty similar, they do have some minor differences. for example, whereas the matron of the first war of the magi (irene) had one of the sets of wings on her head covering her eyes, the matron of the second war (mcd!aphmau) has both of them held back. this is bc whereas irene had lost her humanity (and therefore the ability to connect with mortals), aph hasn't - and, therefore, her eyes are open to the struggles of humanity. additionally, i took a lot of inspiration from honkai impact 3rd for these designs - in aph's case, i was inspired by elysia's herrscher of human: ego battlesuit and how it looks like a wedding dress (which a lot of folks have interpreted as an expression of her love for humanity, which is smth i want to convey w aph).

i think my favourite part of aaron's destroyer form is his seal (the thingy behind his head like a halo). i wanted to rlly play into the whole destroyer/devourer aspect of his abilities and domains, and i thought a black hole would fit perfectly! it also sort of (unintentionally) plays into how i see the dynamic between the matron and the destroyer and how they're both mirrors of each other; whereas the destroyer, well, destroys (and his black hole devours everything in sight), the matron creates and nurtures (seen in how aph's seal is almost like a white hole). i also wanted his armour to look a lot like the armour that shadow knights wear, albeit without all the spikes and spines and whatnot given that he isn't a shadow knight himself (shad's destroyer form from the first war probably looks a lot more similar to traditional shadow knight armour).

i'm lowkey suuper proud of how travis's keeper form turned out (even if i had to go back right at the end n fix it bc i forgot to add his tail 😭). i wanted this form to sort of be a mix between a high mage and a rogue: whereas the keeper embodies knowledge and magick, travis himself is a prankster who relies on cunning and trickery to gain the upper hand on his opponents. as a result, he's the only one who doesn't automatically manifest a weapon when he shifts into this form - instead, i feel like he chooses to rely more on magicks and witchcraft during combat.

katelyn's design was lowkey the hardest to pin down. originally, i wanted to go for something that was suuuper inspired by roman armour and had a copper and teal/turquoise colour scheme, but it wound up feeling too magical girl-ish and i scrapped it. i've retained the roman inspirations, but i headcanon that her flames are so hot they burn blue, so i settled on a blue-and-white colour scheme w some purple elements. i think my favourite part is her gauntlets! i feel like she uses them as an extension of herself/another pair of hands to punch with. the blue elements also lean into menphia's association with the moon - in ashes, ashes, tu'la is based on the roman empire and, as a result, is where werewolves originate from, and with werewolves having such close ties to the moon.... yeah. i'll probably do a post on tu'la later on at some point.

my blorbo

garroth's design is probably the one that's changed the least, but i'll still need to update his ref sheet anyway. i don't know if i conveyed it very well but the sort-of wing-things on his back are slabs of earth that can be shaped into a shield - originally i had him holding a shield but i wanted him to look a bit more divine warrior-ish so i retooled his design.

the boy! i was tossing up between having vylad or dante fill the role of the wanderer, but i settled on dante as i feel like vylad fits better as a sort of weird guide sort of figure within the narrative. plus, i have a real soft spot for dante and wanted him to remain in the limelight a little bit - i love his dynamic with garroth and laurance and i wanted to explore that further. i sort of wanted to play into his whole red-and-blue colour scheme that we see in canon diaries, but bc kul'zak is a nature deity (specifically of the wilderness), i wanted to incorporate some greenery into his design. i hope i've done an okay-ish job here - overall i'm pretty happy tho, but i can't promise that there won't be any tweaks in the future.

this is a redhead laurance propaganda spreading blog and i Refuse to apologise for it. i'd like to think that laurance's original colour scheme is similar to his justiciar form - lots of beautiful reds and golds and oranges to match the flames of his father's forge - but after he comes back from the nether with a Severe fear of fire he switches to the greens and browns that he's known for in canon. eventually he slowly begins to reclaim his fire and returns to the golds and oranges that he's introduced with (haha colour symbolism go brrrrrr).

'Sumer is icumen en' is an actual medieval song, sometimes called the Summer Canon. The oldest musical notation we have for it dates to about 1260, but the song is probably older. Here it is preformed in flute and here it is preformed by a choir. It's pretty catchy!

Also, those 3 are Leshy's main friend group. I draw them in the background and with Leshy from time to time in comics so it's about time I made a little ref sheet for them.

Rambles on what are more or less OCs at this point below:

Amdusias is the only one who knew Leshy as a god. He's been with the Lamb long enough that he no longer reveres Leshy as a divine being, but always enjoyed his company as a follower. He's also the father to the shrew with horns girl I've drawn in a few comics before. (the kids name is Lena Jr.! She goes by Len though) his wife in all but name is a shrew disciple named Lena. She met him as a ghost during the blood moon festival and fell head over heels.

Otta is my interpretation of the otter from the kitchen nightmares short! She and Cor grew closes while imprisoned and waiting to be scarficed. Since she doesn't believe she as a mortal can judge a god for what they do, she doesn't really hold a grunge agianst Leshy for the attempted scarfice by his remaining followers who still think he's alive somewhere. However... She doesn't really like high energy people or entitled people, and Leshy ticks both those boxes,but since Cor, for reasons she cannot fathom, likes smooching on that bush, she tolerates Leshy's presence.

Cornelius, or just Cor, is the yellow cat from the kitchen nightmare short. He was a rambunctious kid who grew into a rambunctious teenager. This caused a riff between him and his family, so one day he decided to just up and leave. He traveled around a little before joining up with the Darkwood cult more or less on a whim. Leshy was long since dead, but his power still remained in the land, so his followers believed he would come back one day. Cor enjoyed the partying, chaos causing, and pillaging, but he got himself in a bit of trouble that ticked off the higher ups. He managed to escape and get back to his village, but his village was abdanoned. He was then captured. While imprisoned he met Otta and they became close and remained good friends after The Lamb saved them. He'd heard tales of Leshy being a fun guy to party with and be around, so he started to seek his friendship to find out if that was true. (cats and curiosity, ya know?)

If Sparklecare comes back or resumes I feel only a very specific audience will be left for it and KC will probably have to divert from original plans significantly. Either way, I won't be around for it, and I don't suggest anyone with a good head on their shoulders does either. You cannot separate art from the artist when so much of their core values is seeped into their work. KC clearly feels they have done nothing wrong and continues to self victimize herself.

If the audience does get an apology, well there's proof enough through her subsequent actions since the doc's drop it will be disingenuous.

KC prioritized someone who sexually abused their irl sibling over anything or anyone else, never forget or excuse that.

Stellar the Hedgehog Analysis

Just got home from watching the third Sonic movie, and since it focuses so much on Sonic and Shadow's relationship, I thought it'd be the best time to do something I've wanted to do for a while - drop an incredibly long post about my thoughts on @emthimofnight's Sonadow fankid, Stellar the Hedgehog.

A lot of the time, Sonic OCs have been passed off as "cringe", due to the unfortunately well-known ones, but the actual community is full of some of the most dedicated lore-makers and designers I've ever seen, and I'm not even someone who knows Sonic that well! I've done a fair bit of research on the series, but I've never played the main games for myself. I just stumbled onto Stellar while I was mindlessly scrolling, and as I checked out all the posts regarding her, I realised I'd found one of the most intricate, passionate fan creations I'd ever seen, and she's been living rent-free in my head ever since.

Now, for the meat of this post: My analytical thoughts on her. Let's break it down into categories:

Design and Personality:

I'm no expert on character design, I've barely even tried to do it myself (outside of my over-designed Miitopia OCs), but Stellar is absolutely striking. Her fur colour is a clever blend of Sonic's blue and Shadow's black, a dark blue resembling space, with a splash of red thrown in to add to the Shadow of it all. She has stripes as well, but as opposed to Shadow's slashing shapes, hers are more bendy, twisting into the form of a star. Inhibitor rings are strapped to her sneakers, a very poetic combination of her dads' getups, but she's also got her knee and elbow guards, a little touch of her own that links in with her fighting style, and also represents the constant protection around her which I'll get to later.

She's extremely star-coded, from the name to the space colour to the fur markings, and I think that was the perfect direction to go. Stars feel ethereal, but entirely grounded at the same time, a cosmic entity we can look towards at any point. Stellar is much the same, she contains an absolutely incredible power, taking after two previous incredible powers, but her personality is so warm and cheerful, and her very existence is what brings Sonic and Shadow together.

And that's the other point I want to make in this category. Stellar actually has three older siblings who died before they were born (I'll get to that), and they're essentially a sliding scale of Shadow's genes to Sonic's genes. Void is almost entirely Shadow, Andromeda has a bit more Sonic, Polarity is more Sonic than Shadow, and Stellar herself is the only true balance. That's a good word to describe what she represents, balance. Sonic's kindness combined with Shadow's anger, Sonic's showboating combined with Shadow's self-confidence, with her own bubbliness and grace added on top. Everything about her design, just like her role in the "SonDADow AU", simply clicks together.

Background Lore:

As someone unfamiliar with the history of the Sonic fandom, I'm not sure how common the "Sonadow fankid made in a lab" trope is. I know Stellar was not the first, and it'd be unreasonable to assume she was - but I'm willing to bet that Emthim has the very best exploration of the concept.

The failed siblings, for a start. That's a dark turn to take off the bat, the idea that Project: STELLAR has been attempted so many times, and still hasn't been shut down because these people are so desperate to put more insane power out into the world, but it really does set the tone for what's going on here. Stellar, just like Shadow, isn't being viewed as a genuine lifeform despite her title, she and all her siblings were a piece in the puzzle for a bunch of self-absorbed scientists trying to recreate a project that was inhumane from the start. Shadow is frequently pictured as struggling to cope with the knowledge of this project, and of the failed siblings, as it'd very obviously strike a lot of nerves. Sonic reminds him to move forward, though. Just like he always has.

That's another incredible aspect of all of this - Sonic and Shadow being forced to parent together despite being not-very-close-friends before this point. The little interactions displaying their bickering about how much influence each of them have had on their daughter, and constantly fumbling on taking care of her because all three of them have overpowering abilities that completely change how they go about their lives, give so much life to the relationship depicted between them all. Stellar is never outright told about her origin, because Sonic and Shadow want to keep her out of that life, and that level of protection being shown both warms the heart, and fills it with a sense of dread for when she'll find out, because it's (realistically) not a perfect strategy. This all adds so much to the idea that they were haphazardly thrown together by the circumstances of Stellar's very existence, and the duo of hedgehogs are just trying to make do.

Stellar as a sort of "dark star", in her ultimate form or Villain AU, is a concept that really ties it all together. She originated from an evil cause, something that only exists to cause unparalleled destruction, and yet her good will and sense of justice shines through no matter what. You can tie aspects of the same theme to both of her parents, but it's wholly concentrated in her story.

Powers and Abilities:

She's a figure-skater. That's pretty much the whole reason this category exists, I really want to break that down for a second.

The duality of ice skating is one-to-one with the duality of Stellar, in my eyes. It's a graceful, beautiful, typically feminine activity, but it's incredibly easy to cause damage with those blades, and strike the sickest poses on your foes. Stellar has a clearly-defined soft side to her, she's very sweet to the people she cares about, and has that all-encompassing energy only a child of Sonic could possess, but just as much as that, she will rip and tear through someone at a moment's notice if they piss her off, she's got that impulsiveness to her, and we all know she's got the power to back it up. She can be either of these things at any moment, the artistic blade always has an edge to it, and the contrast is no contradiction - She simply is all of her.

On top of that, I want to talk more about the dark/collapsing star form. The idea that she possesses such capacity for destruction, which could take her over from the inside out, that would leave her loved ones desperately reaching out to find that shining star - it has not left my mind since I first saw it. It's one of the most compelling narrative devices anywhere in this AU, there's so much potential in a character like Stellar, making an impact wherever she moves, becoming shrouded in the colossal darkness that still plagues her life no matter what she does. As for the specific piece that drew me into this form so much? I'll link it in the final category.

The first image in the set is the one I was just referencing, but I'd be retreading ground by talking about it, so I'll focus more on their relationship in general.

I love how it's so "mutual pining childhood friends"-coded, while also straying a decent bit away from the common tropes. Only Camellia has the feelings bouncing around her head like a DVD logo every moment of her life, because Stellar doesn't actually comprehend it at all, despite feeling much the same. True to her nature, she's so focused on building positive relationships with people that she doesn't recognise some of the intricacies of what the relationship is truly like, or what she truly feels herself. She's at her softest around Camellia, due to their long-lasting affection, but she's also at her fiercest when she gets protective. Camellia brings out every aspect of her personality in a way no-one else does... and certainly not a dishonest rival.

Rocket is my absolute favourite addition to the Camellar dynamic because he throws such a gigantic wrench in everything. His relationship with Stellar has none of the safety that Camellia's does, he's all about the thrill of it, feeding into the inexplicable attraction without thought of whether it'll hurt in the end or not. Initially, this is all one-sided on Stellar's side, eventually becoming one-sided on Rocket's, and either way, it brings about a vindictiveness in Camellia she usually isn't prone to, because just as much as Stellar is looking out for her, she's looking out for Stellar - in a variety of ways. She wants what's best for her, but she's also throughly convinced that it won't be anyone other than herself, and she's also right, especially since Rocket's such a prick at the end of the day.

The truth is, the reason Sonic and Shadow work is that they can keep up with each other. Both of their life stories are about becoming as free of a spirit as they can be, tossing aside everything thrown in their path to become confident in themselves and what they stand for. Stellar and Camellia are much the same. From an aesthetics and basic dynamic standpoint, there's more comparisons to draw between them and Sonamy, but in that case, it's entire game's worth of miscommunication and problem avoidance. In the case of Camellar, they're significantly more head-on with everything, they're both incredibly blunt about their affection, it's just that the romance aspect is lost in translation on Stellar's side. Not like that's the part that really matters, it's the mere unbreakable bond. The one that gets a princess desperately reaching out through a collapsing star for its heart. The one that gets a shining star to settle down for a moment.

This post definitely didn't cover everything. So much about Stellar is whirring around my brain at any given moment, I have no idea how I'd manage to jot it all down in a comprehensible and complete format, but this is what I've got. Evolution of my fursona/art style over the past 15 years. Say what you will, but I genuinely think fursonas as a concept are a fascinating form of self-expression and just find it interesting to look back and track the changes of not only my art skills/style but also of the way I chose to present myself at various points in my life.

I had two distinct art "phases" during my teenage years. The first one was around middle school, in which I was your standard cringy furry kid on the internet with a plethora of brightly-colored Mary Sue OCs.

The second one was around high school and into college, at which point I got more serious about art (preparing to apply for the BYU animation program) and decided that I was too Mature™ for unnaturally colored characters, among other things (that's where I changed Natti's color scheme from blue to brown, and there were also a few years where she was actually changed to entirely white with no markings, though that iteration never got a ref sheet and therefore isn't represented here).

In retrospect I actually kinda view the second phase as cringier than the first. I don't regret the phase—I think it was overall beneficial to my art journey and I definitely learned a lot during it—I just wish I hadn't had such a stick up my butt about it. I wouldn't have worded it this way at the time, but I looking back I definitely had it in my head that I was a Special And Good Artist for figuring out that unrealistic colorful characters are Not Okay for whatever reason, and I lowkey looked down my nose at younger artists who "hadn't figured it out yet", which....yeeeeeeeah, that attitude was pretty cringe. But that's teenagers for ya, I suppose.

Anyways, I find it pretty fascinating that by complete coincidence, the current iteration of my fursona—who I designed as an adult and whose design has remained stable for around seven years now—happens to represent the color schemes of her iterations from both of those eras: the blue whimsy of the middle school iterations, and the brown and white of her high school iterations.

This wasn't intentional—fun fact, the reason the current version of my fursona has the white/brown/blue color scheme is that when I initially went to design her I was aiming for a dilute calico pattern, with the gray stylized to blue. I wound up abandoning the calico idea because I couldn't nail down a splotch pattern I was satisfied with, but kept the colors.

Yet despite the fact that it's coincidence, it's still pretty cool that my current fursona has those elements of all her predecessors, because it's as if all those phases and experiences and growth have come together to form the person I am now and it's represented visually.

It's also interesting how her design changed so often when I was a kid/teenager, but now as an adult it's stabilized.

like, idk, maybe I'm just looking wayyyy too deep into things here, but I feel like there's some sort of psychology at play lol. But who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m gonna add onto my last post about transmasc!Dipper in relativity falls because the idea won’t get out of my head. Also yes you’re free to do art or fanfics of this, it’s not exclusive to me to use. But I DO wanna be tagged in any posts of it, just to see where my idea was taken /nf

So - only for reference purposes - I’m thinking the deadname would probably be something that also starts with a “May” sound. Maybe Mavis or something like that so that’s how Mabel would get away with being called “Grauntie May” cause “May” is the shared part of the name. And - of course - his chosen name would be Mason.

The RF! Version of bill ((different people have different versions of bill here, so whatever that is)) would call him Dipper, and it would also be his nickname from childhood with Mabel before transitioning. Also in my take on it, the Bill from this AU could be that smile dog Mabel saw from the Smile Dip. And then maybe Bill would be seen in that scene with Relativity Falls.

His journals would have the star birthmark and he’d call himself M. in the book. I also think the whole thing with Pacifica being McGucket would work and he’d address her in the book as Paz or just P.

Some ideas I have for lost pages of the journal would be him talking about his gender and the dysphoria, a few about Pacifica ((pre-portal doomed (as in unrequited) FiddAuthor swap)) and how she helped him transition secretly cause I’d imagine those around him wouldn’t be supportive. Like how Stanford’s parents weren’t very nice to him.

Dipper’s equivalent of that project Stanley broke in high school would probably be something equally simple looking but also equally as ground-breaking. Maybe something that’s sensitive to air quality and Mabel’s yarn ruined it? I need more ideas for that-

They’d have another sibling that’s the relativity falls equivalent of Mabel and Dipper’s grandparents, who then have Stan and Ford’s parents, and then Stan and Ford. Name ideas? I don’t have any lmao

That page on the Dream Hipster ((the one who makes a whole nightmare just for a pun)) would have to do with maybe not being the STAR of the family, or something to do with light or stars maybe? I’d love to see ideas for this.

finally gonna make a ref sheet for this man!! repurposing an old sketch cuz I still generally agree with the design…I actually intended to render that old sketch but never did 😭

now here’s some never-before-revealed lore and headcanons!! (this all takes place in a story I’ve never created except in my head 💀 also some have been told, I’m just reiterating them):

-This is how LJ generally looks between the years 1817 to 1886. He was “born” in 1803, stayed with Isaac for one year, got stuck in the box for 13 years, and only started wearing bandages in 1817 once he became a target to the public. As he started getting more wounds, he found out that they would open up easily and opted to wear bandages most of the time.

-He can’t eat as he lacks a digestive system. Instead, he feeds on human interaction. The more positive the interaction, the better it is for him. Because he had such a poor relationship with humans during these years, he ends up looking starved. He’s quite weak in this state, and the only thing keeping him alive is his wit and his sharp nails for weapons.

-His limbs are black right above the connection of his joints (knees and elbows). The rest of his skin is white.

-His hair would be naturally curly, but due to improper care and the long length dragging it down, it ends up looking wavy and sometimes even straight, albeit very frizzy and/or greasy.

-In 1886, that’s when LJ and Lillian first meet (omg OC and canon??? gross 😰🤢). They create a pact, and he starts getting more positive interaction with humans. As he gets more “sustenance,” his wounds start to heal properly and he gets stronger. Unfortunately, most of his wounds have scarred over at this point and they remain on his body as it’s now recognized as “healthy” tissue. (Placement of scars will be in another post)

-Lillian is 23 when she first meets LJ.

-Before his strength improved, Lillian could actually beat LJ in an arm wrestling contest!! But after about a few months of being together, that was no longer the case. (Lillian’s ego was a little hurt, but it was inevitable 😞)

-Although it looks like it, he never actually felt starved. He doesn’t experience typical feelings like hunger or fulfillment.

-Sadly, he’ll never retain his curl pattern. Lillian tries very hard to get it back as she has her own experience with her hair, but she can never get more than a few curls on his head. She gives up at some point and just accepts his wavy/straight hair as is. LJ truly doesn’t care either way. If he had his way, he’d probably forget and never wash it again.

-the dickless look is on purpose!!! No reproductive system means no dick!! Yippee, no nsfw 🤗 Unless I feel freaky, which will most definitely happen…so if you ever see him with a dick, it’s just for my own nefarious purposes 😞

-When Lillian first found out how old LJ was, she said “wow, you could be my grandpa….” LJ didn’t take too kindly to that and scolded her like a grandpa.

-His body stopped aging once Isaac died. In this version, Isaac dies at the age of 21. LJ is physically around 5 years older than Isaac, so his physical age is stuck at around 26 (but it’s not rlly trustworthy as his body isn’t comparable to a typical human’s…I’d say it’s probably between 25-35 though)

thinking about characters fursonas is always more fun to me than directly anthro-ifying them because it's not just a question of "what animal would they be" since before you can even ask that you have to figure out how they would pick a fursona, and i almost feel like that says more about a character than what animal they choose.

like. would they want an animal that represents their ideal self? something that represents how they see themself to be currently? and how well does that perception match up with these actual reality? or would they pick based on something less complicated like "favorite animal"/"movie character they liked”.

all that leadup to ask, how do you think your mvf guys would pick their fursonas?

💯💯💯 literally it's one of the most fun characterisation exercises you can do, it tells you SO much about them, how they view themselves, what they want others to think of them and so on. all that good stuff. and then you get to delve into furry subcultures, influential artists etc

so on to the actual fursoneys themselves

Jean-Baptiste - aforementioned hummingbird with a suit from idk clockworkcreature or something. the subculture/art style is realistic but very humanised, basically a bird head on a feathery human body, no wing-hands, with a Georgian style of dress (potentially with steampunk elements) and named after a famous scientist from the period. He would not be an artist, but he would be one of those ppl who's a bigtime engineer making huge money who invests heavily in commissions of art (usually traditional media like oils, colouring pencil, etc) and writing about this character, who is a kind of inventor/old-timey scientist with a highly detailed backstory and canon setting. He chose the hummingbird because it's beautiful, precise, and tenacious, and also just because he likes the 'rare fursona species' aura. He has VERY strong negative view on poodling (when someone wears a partial fursuit with their skin showing) and has been posting to the same old rp forum for the past 20 years. Rude and bitchy but one of those guys who always pays well and tips for commissions because money is no object. an important part of the economy

Bowman - exactly the opposite to everything above. His fursona is a retriever-ish dog called Dog or Mutt or something with a single-colour palette and the art style is new school big toothy grin etc. fursona exclusively wears board shorts. He draws at a beginner level and he's obviously having a blast with it. The muscles are very detailed (so's the bulge) & the art is clearly bara influenced, especially around the eyes. He wouldn't have any interest in suiting i don't think but you will find him at the furry rave in a neoprene harness. He wouldn't have much money to commission with and his twitter feed would be mostly reposts of other people's art (without permission)

Islin - ok you know that one genre of art style used exclusively by dragon furries where it's got realistic scale textures, backgrounds, and the ref sheets are usually incredibly detailed and the dragons in their anthro forms are always absurdly ripped. He can draw this, i know it in my heart. The design is pretty generic western dragon, all things considered, I don't think he has the imagination for more (sorry). Character's name is something appropriately fantasy-ish like Xyrgoryx. He could definitely take commissions as a side hustle but as a perfectionist and professional worrier it would overwhelm him easily. You would probably not find him at a convention at all, I'd say such spaces do not appeal to him. He's been on Furcadia tho.

Félix - generic twinky fox in a thin-lines washboard abs disney-inspired art style with an absurdly deep backstory which we never get to see because the character is only ever drawn being railed. He can draw but more importantly he knows how to take the commissioner's money and run, delete his account, and remake under a different username. Was able to afford a fullsuit from Made Fur You and that alone gave him enough clout to continually avoid allegations of past misbehaviour. Every so often someone goes "hey isn't that a known scammer" when they see him at a con but it never sticks. Later he would get cancelled immediately for saying he "didn't care about" right-wing furries as long as their art was cute.

Senca - Almost certainly a feline-based original species or hybrid. The art style is very goldenwolf with spiritual/neopagan influences, mostly traditional media and ACEOs in oil pastel so it's got a kind of smudgy look. Her character has the same name as her and she considers it a 'truesona' of sorts. She's an established artist and well-respected but struggles to keep up with what Tha Youth are doing and her personal website has looked the same since the year 2006. She has a realistic partial suit but doesn't wear it much anymore, preferring to vend at the dealer's den instead. She always knows way too much gossip about any given person you could point out to her but she insists she isn't involved in what she'll delicately & vaguely refer to as 'drama'.

Léa - she was attracted by the promise of easy entry into a supportive and friendly readymade community and bought an expensive Closed Species design to be her fursona. She tried to participate in events but instead got sucked into a cesspit of petty warfare between her CS community and a very similar CS with design elements that may have been inspired by hers (after all, 'dog with kinda long pointy ears and a big fluffy tail' is VERY copyrightable). She goes along with it, afraid of losing her space in the panopticon discord community by voicing a dissenting opinion and it'll eat her up from the inside. until one day she wakes up and realises she paid €400 to gossip and participate in a group that bans you from adding horns to your fursona's head (a legendary trait restricted to the CS owner and their favourite sycophants) whose main form of bonding ritual seems to be reposting their enemies' art to mock it and colour-pick to prove the palettes were copied. She explains all this to Bowman in one big tearful rant on their first offline date at Eurofurence and he helps her get away from that community.

Helena - that was her copyrighted closed species. and she IS litigious about it.

Erica - it's a pine marten in a modern sketchy "just got an ipad and procreate" style, really cute, fun design, good coordinating outfit, honestly ticks all the boxes but then 5 days after he posts that awesome themed ref sheet he's got a brand NEW fursona and this time it's a cute lil jackdaw, again lovely design all around looks great but wait no in 5 days time it's a roe deer, no wait it's an otter, it's a gecko, it's a

Pascal - a sick as hell cartoony golden eagle with an electric guitar and sunglasses and you can imagine it airbrushed onto the side of a campervan because that's where it lives. he's strictly offline, doesn't know what a furry is, never been on twitter, but he is 100% certain in his heart that this bird is a true representation of himself

Ref sheet for my Beastkin (Artic wolf) Hvass. He's a "loner" AKA a guy who voluntarely left all social pack life to go live on the wilds on his own. A freak, culturally speaking.

Beastkin (Beastfolk or Hombres-Bestia as I got them in writing), especially Wolfkin have complex social groups and rules that very clearly define your place in the social hierarchy and how you must act with people that are higher/lower than you on that scale. A lot of that includes micro-expressions and body language; things that are... hard for others to understand when you're always in a half-feral form. Hvass doesn't like to show his face to strangers, so he's seen as "rude" because others can't infer further meaning other than strictly literal. That's not his intention, but that kind of behavior is often tagged as cagey at best, and outright lying at worst. His wolf head actually emotes and does facial expressions, but people aren't usually able to interpret them and ask to see his "real" face which is, in contrast, very inexpressive.

Living on your own is only seen in teenagers and early adults trying to find a new pack or create their own groups, and it's a behavior that is expected to end when someone becomes an adult and settles in a group. When you live in a Monster Hunter-esque world in terms of wild danger, big groups mean a bigger survival chance. Being an adult without a pack subtly means that "no one wants you in their group" and it's seen as a personal failure; though it's sometimes romanticized in storytelling (in a similar way that werewolves or pirate romance stories are, "Oh what if this hot and mysterious stranger took me").

Hvass has tried and failed for most of his early adult life to make it work with different groups, but it never did. He's BAD bad at reading social cues and cannot physically imitate the body language of others (dog heads don't work the same way as humans do). There have been times when he thought he was doing fine and then discovered people didn't want him there anymore and he was just supposed to Get It and leave. All of that distrust in people made him become very quiet (which was also bad! now you're just a wolf-headed freak whom people think can't talk!) until eventually he decided to fully live on his own.

He's "friendly" though extremely cautious and has built a lot of walls around himself. He's learned that he doesn't know how to tell when people are lying, so he keeps his distance until you can prove that you're trustworthy. Still, he's not a talkative person even when he likes you.

He has an adoptive bio kid. He's 90% the child is his (found him abandoned near the path of a pack he spent some... time with in the past) and he shares the same quiet "weird" behavior that he does. He's a great dad, but having to raise a kid made him stop and think for a long time what he was going to tell him about the world. You cannot tell a kid that others are scary and will lie and hurt you, and that people are weird and complex and you cannot understand them. You can't tell a kid there is no hope. But he cannot just lie, it's a complex problem for him.

Claws and (wolf) jaws are natural weapons, but he needs to use ACTUAL weapons to hunt. That's not an issue when you hunt in groups, and certain hunts or particularly traditional packs forbade their use. Why are you (as a beast) using tools.
