speaking of gaster, I feel bad for Toby Fox because I feel like gaster was kinda a cool secret joke character that was used for beta-testing/bug fixing and stuff, the time in development where catastrophic errors are more common and you need dummy rooms and sprites and music to avoid crashes. But somehow gaster became the most intriguing and widely known secret in the fandom, so now there's an expectation for gaster to have some huge plot implication and massive story payoff even though it doesn't seem like that much thought was put into the character

what i think? personally? is that andrew was interested in kevin day similarly to neil but found out the hard way that kevin in canon is spoken for, and or could also see it as andrew not seeing them being compatible, especially because he is looking for "nothing". renee knows about thea somehow and her and kevin arent exactly buddy buddy

but there was something there for sure. andrew became vulnerable enough to not only have kevin hold his meds but also strike the deal to "give him something to live for" after graduation. there is a huge possibility he either tried to engage with him, or told him/let him find out some way

i swear, every time i'm just looking through aftg for a particular quote, i stumble across several more that make me consider something i hadn't thought of before. like this bit when they're all discussing taking dates to the banquet:

neil asks nicky if he's going to be taking a date, nicky's says of course he'll be taking a platonic date. and then first thing after that, neil looks to andrew - as though he's asking andrew the same question next - but it's kevin who tells him to mind his own business.

to me, that could be read as kevin covering for andrew so that andrew doesn't have to bother answering. which brings up an interesting question: is kevin aware that andrew is gay? renee found out because andrew thought it was fair that she should know since everyone seemed to be shipping them. but would he have a reason to tell kevin? or does kevin just know implicitly? does kevin, in fact, have a highly attuned gaydar? or, is he just being a good pal and covering for andrew because he knows andrew's just a private person?
