He's a little bit of both! We share a lot of the same physical looks as well as interests, but he's different enough from me in personality that I'd consider him a separate entity!

My idea for him is that he was originally created to be a Nightmare that reflected the human fear of death and decomposition. However, given that his nature encompasses rot, he tends to destabilize dreams as soon as he enters them. He can't really fulfill his duties because of this, and holds a lot of guilt and uncertainty. If he can't do the one thing he was created for, then what is the purpose of his existance?

In many ways he is a parallel to the Corinthian. You have one Nightmare who, no matter how hard he tries, cannot do what he was created to do and another who does it too well. But it's a flaw in both of their creations, not up to themselves as they struggle to cope with their identities as individuals and their relationship with each other.

Vanitas HAS to be in KH4.

So I watched a couple of Vanitas scenes and now my brainrot is back in FULL force so im gonna be annoying for a bit.

I genuinely think Vanitas is one of the best characters that Nomura can put into KH4 thematically.

This is the game where:

1) Sora will be struggling with his own darkness, especially after his breakdown in KH3. Someone on here had a brilliant theory on how light represents selflessness and darkness selfishness, ill link it below since Tumblr won't let me tag them @andrewwtca

Anyways, Sora as we all now is a very selfless, downright self sacrificial person which what can be theorized is what happens when there is "too much light".

(Need I call back to the the stronger your light the stronger your shadow grows opening from KH1)

No doubt Rage form and Anti-form will be explained or at least the game will lay the groundwork for the explanation in the future, my point is, what better way to add weight to Sora's arc than bringing up Vanitas someone hes met that is "pure darkness".

2) The start of the foretellers arc which would be a great opportunity to tie in the Darkness and Vanitas content we got from Dark Road and KHUX, especially with Strelitzia being a secondary character in the game.

(I also suspect that Ventus is going to be a major player in the arc to come with the addition of that Chriithy and Ven interaction at the end of KH3)

Because as much as everyone says otherwise...we don't really have confirmation on w h a t exactly Vanitas is, sure characters and Vanitas himself guess and speculate but we haven't got confirmation and I think thats important.

Kingdom hearts is a series which allows its characters to be wrong, we've seen this time and time again (nobodies can't grow hearts for example) which is why I find it kinda hard to believe that Vanitas is and will stay some "ancient evil pure darkness".

Especially when, regardless of whether you think the novels are canon, Vanitas is an abuse victim in the BBS novel, he comes off more as a scared child than an ancient evil. Its plain as day you can't interpret it any other way

Add to that the subtle changes in expressions and voice acting during the end of BBS, the KH3 Monsters Inc world and his theme being in the Heroes section of an orchestra.

Idk gang some of yall have way too little faith in Nomura and the team behind these games.

I was dissapointed with Vanitas' handling in KH3 at first too but if you look at it from a deeper lens (as we should always its KH after all) the Two Vanitas theory, especìally @embraceyourdestiny 's explanation which I think is fantastic btw, works.

Or at the very least, him starting a redemption arc in KH4 is more thematically cohesive with that game rather than KH3, frankly I think it would have been too rushed to add into KH3 with everything else going on.

Even if he DOES truly believe that, don't you think its a touching story for a character who's hit rock bottom and has 0 faith in themselves to start their road to redemption? KH has always been sappy it would be a hard oppurtunity to miss.

iruma is a 14 year old yes man. They say yes to everything, even yes to the idea of breaking child labor laws! as their parents are frivolous unimportant freaks that spend way too much money then bolt, leaving him to work off the debt. Anyways, that's how this happened. they wanted dosh, and our buyer, we will call him grandpa!

Why is he so interested in buying a child? simple! He is rich and wants to have a grandson, unfortunately, he does not have a dick due to war injuries... ok thats a lie, he just wants a grand kid.

Anyways this is a very interesting title in the fact that it is still in a way, a power fantasy, but the power in that fantasy is separated towards other things.

It is a story in which you have the power to be helped. The adults in this manga are actual competent adults, they are there for the protection of the children, they are there to guide, nurture, train and help them grow. Despite differences or annoyances some may have, those are secondary to the ferocity they show when it comes to ensuring the protection of their students.

Iruma does have a lot of “i am the chosen one” but it is not something that automatically aids him in most situations, in fact it is the triad of facts of “I am a human”, “I want to help”, “I am determined” that allow him to rise both in power and social standing. The might makes right idealism of the underworld forced to reckon with people that stop to drag someone across the finish line. 

As for the plot, it goes along a few separate arcs; there is a very clear progression of time as Iruma gets older. Mostly split into two parts. Irumas social life, in which we get to see him become better and better friends with the students and faculty at this school. Showing both the give and take as they both show how far they are willing to go for each other. 

The second half is the mystery and political intrigue of the demonic society at large. The idea of a demon king has gone missing, disciples of which are eager to try and resurrect him as they see no one who is more suitable for the role, opposing forces trying to groom the top students at various schools into the role of king in a contest of disciples. 

I think you should give it a read, its cute, the designs are fun and the power system while simple is still enough to give the action that is there a lot of meat. It's also satisfying thing to read if you just got done with a shounen and you are wondering “where the fuck are the adults? Why are these children doing everything?”

Draw backs. Not a lot but some of the students are essentially drawn as adults and there are parts where you will feel slightly skived out by.

akechi: a white pawn chess piece ! my friend actually came up with this ! and its kinda genius ! to paraphrase what she said: white chess pieces move first ; akechi is always the one to (attempt to be) one step ahead of the thieves , having everything lined up for himself to succeed . 

     her words: “akechi sets the first gambit, the tone, and gets to begin laying out the chess board how he sees fit, and joker is the reactionary. but heres the thing. strategists differ on how you should play as black, like if you should automatically be on defense from white's offensive move. but the most famous black player of all time is magnus carlsen, who is WILDLY an offensive player and absolutely goes for it every time, to the point where white has been INTIMIDATED by him and played poorer statistically against him because of it . like thats CRAZY!! hes one of the boldest chess players in existence and he prefers to go SECOND! it was pretty much unheard of before him.”

    plus , (my words now) theres the idea of not only him manipulating others (the pawn) , but he himself becoming a pawn in a plan much grander than him . the p5 wildcards and their games of strategy a nd all !

joker: joker card(+mask !) i was actually trying to come up with something “better” , but the joker card really , really fits him . not only literally being a wildcard in the metaverse/persona sense , but also IRL , how he’s adaptable to every situation ! canon pretty much explains it , LOL ! but again bringing in the theme of classic games of strategy , joker with his joker card !

ryuji: EPIC awesome skull (literally his na,me...) , but i liked it with the idea of delinquency/pirates(YIPPY !) , as well as the lightning not only for power , but symbolizing speed~  hes just cool

ann: lipstick kiss mark ! this one actually came to me really quick , LOL ! it symbolizes her role as a model (makeup !) , but also has to do with how she reclaims her sexuality and looks for herself ! that , as well as her caring nature , especially to the little guys(like a mother’s kiss goodbye on your forehead..)

yusuke: ink brush + swirls !!! funny enough this one took me the longest to come up with . i wanted to avoid giving him a palette , since i wanted to focus on traditional japanese art forms above all else (since thats basically his whole tyhing !) and ended up going with an ink brush ! it’s not exclusively japanese by any means , but its recognizable , and we see him work with ink many times ! the little swirls are meant to be the golden ratio (beauty ?)LOL , but just kinda look like swirls.......maybe shapes found in his art ?

makoto: gavel and books ! also took me a weirdly lomg time to come up with , but i figured it out ! the gavel is obviously meant to represent justice/the justice system , but also wanted it to represent power as well (since makoto can often act like a secondary “boss” LOL , and her role as a leader at school !) . the books are for her intelligence (perhaps legal books) ? yippy !!!!

haru: a coffee cup with a plant growing out of it ! this is a bit on the nose , but i had fun figuring it out ! keeping her goal of opening a cafe (and coming up with new coffee blends throughout the game) in mind , as well as her love for plants and gardening ! the plant is meant to form a sort of heart (which can also look like steam coming fromt he cup).. , to also show her nurturing side !

futaba: computer and medjed eyes !!!!!! also a bit on the nose , LOL ! for this 1 , the computer is obviously tied to her skill as a hacker/her computer-focused life , but the eyes carry a bit more weight ! theyre literally the eyes of the deity medjed , who is known for those two eyes that look directly at you ! we dont see any medjed logo with graphics like this in game IIRC , but i added it for the double(triple?) meaning ! medjed in game carries the weight of being a part of the book of the dead , and connected to futaba’s palace themed around egyptian tombs , but i also felt the eyes could be tied to how she monitors everyone , and interacts with the world through her computer (almost as if shes looking out from it !) yippy !!!!!!!!! :D

sumire: magic wand/gymnastics ribbon ! as explained by my description , LOL , this mark is meant to look both like a magic wand (cinderella/fairy gdmother ...) as well as a gymnastics ribbon ! we see her with these in game , which made my job much easier ! the ribbon forms sort of an “s” for her name , and also looks kind of like a shooting star , to symbolize how she is always shooting for the top ! (and on a darker note , how shooting stars can often be meteors that fall apart)... kasumi’s mark is hers but reversed , and has an additional sparkle/star on it , for “3 stars”, 1st place ! the absence of this sparkle for sumire can represent how she lost her sister , and how she feels lesser (even if just as wonderful !)

I think there's a lot to explore about the intersectionality of what it means to be a boy/girl with what it means to be an alpha/omega, so enjoy!

It shouldn't upset him that Auradon wants him to be...girly. But the few strides Auradon has made with breaking down gender stereotypes haven't even touched the stereotypes with someone's role, their secondary gender. Even Chad, an omega boy with lip gloss and manicured nails, still quirks a brow at Carlos' callouses and grease stained shirts.

Carlos fits sometimes - his love for fashion, his adoration for small dogs, his dark eyes that seem just too wide when compared to other omegas - but he doesn't fit at the same time. He's got more muscles than any omega he knows, he flinches when people try to do his hair, his skin is marked with scars and imperfections, a history of a hard life that most omegas don't have.

"C? You good?" Jay calls from his bed. "You've been in your own head for a while now."

so to start out i think that jace graduated from aguefort and then went to college. we don’t know a ton about colleges/post-secondary education in spyre aside from a couple of named places in the early eps of FHJY so i took that as permission to just. invent some. jace (in keeping w the idea of sorcery classes as art classes) went to the Arcane Arts Institute which is like, an analog for like. literally any art school in NYC. the student body culture is very nyu tisch (disaffected hipsters and gay people) combined with like, the prestige of parsons or the pratt institute or the school of visual arts. this is jace being like “i’m gonna get out of my shitty hometown and go to the BIG CITY and PROVE myself” 

[also as an aside bc this will likely never make it into a fic. I also made up a school for artificer programs thats called Mordenkainen’s Institute for Technomancy (MIT)]

the only person from his party who’s here is dagbert, who much like ragh is in an athletic program at another university, trying to go pro (he does not, like the majority of college athletes), and he and jace interact briefly in this ficlet, but not much throughout the rest of college. dagbert is busy with his classes and his athletic career, and jace is busy with classes and getting cheated on by guys who play electric bass. 

i think there are like, two other aguefort grads in the party, aurora and peregrine, who are a year and two years ahead of jace respectively, so they didnt interact much but jace does recognize the names. maybe a little unrealistic but like its a small world! two people from my irl high school in florida that had a graduating class of 85 people also moved over 1000 miles away from home to the midwest to work at the same company as i did!! crazy shit!! so there’s a bond there initially from being aguefort grads and growing up in elmville

so like the party is officially Formed by them all working for the council of chosen. like i think theyre all in their early to mid 20s looking for stable work:

jace (22) is like “well it’s this or try to find a fucking wizard to do an unpaid apprenticeship under in fallinel”

dagbert’s (25) athletic career falls through and he needs an alternate plan 

Peregrine (24) and aurora (23) are dating atp, peregrine wants a higher paying job and aurora is looking for a way to travel more for her mission work 

invidia (23) is like an established solo adventurer who’s been looking for a team bc she’s lonely

ysvelde (22) is an out-of-work actor who is about 3 seconds from pulling a patrick bateman style killing spree at the fantasy starbucks she’s working at. she NEEDS to move out of her mother’s house. 

they meet like a few weeks before they get sent out on their first mission as a team for like a “team cohesion” type thing; initially aurora peregrine and jace are like “omg we’re all from aguefort! thats so cool! did you have class with [insert teacher here]?” and jace and dagbert vaguely recall each other, but theyre all trying to be professional atp. but it doesnt take long (like a few days into their first mission) for invidia and jace to become the Party Besties bc theyre like moths to a flame. i think they find out that they like the same bands (in my head. jace and invidia listen to 90s riot grrrl) and hit it off from there. and jace and ysvelde are also bonding super quickly but like. most of that is ysvelde getting way too personal w jace way too quickly bc she finally found someone like her (no sense of identity and desperate to make friends by contorting yourself into whatever you think they’ll like). 

i dont have a suuuuuper solid timeline on the relationship drama bc i wanna keep it open for Extreme Mess potential. HOWEVER. peregrine and aurora’s relationship is SEVERELY strained by having to spend extended time in each others’ proximity without the distraction of anything else they have going on (friends who arent their mutual coworkers, jobs that dont have them working with each other, etc.). and when the relationship drama does start, jace cycles between peregrine (when he’s off-again with aurora) and ysvelde (who is so happy to finally be dating/sleeping with a guy who is actually attracted to women. fun fact about her, every single man she has dated turned out to be gay. the curse of being a straight woman in theater. s/o to kinsey 5 jace, it’s really doing a ton of heavy lifting here) with the occasional one-off thing with dagbert that doesnt involve a lot of emotional investment. 

the whole time jace and peregrine are falling harder for each other but peregrine is also desperate to settle down with someone as he gets older, and views aurora as the only “real” option because could you imagine if he brought jace home?? his parents would kill him! and somewhere in this poor ysvelde is like “jace what if we got married” and maybe in a manic episode threatens to have him eaten by her family of driders if he doesnt go through with it. dont worry it blows over they laugh about it eventually but jace Is afraid for his life briefly. 

NOW. jace and aurora’s whole deal. they kind of have friction right away after the initial recognition of having the same hometown wears off because jace is like “oh aurora is from that part of elmville, full of snobby helio-and-sol worshipping humans who think theyre better than everyone and pass judgment on everyone’s ‘lifestyle choices’ while being super hypocritical” and aurora is like “jace is an arrogant, hedonistic, heretical prick who’s way too comfortable making passes at my boyfriend and throws the fact that he gets special treatment from literally everyone we meet because he’s attractive and charismatic in everyone’s faces” and it slowly builds from there. but the buildup is slow, until ofc it’s not (peregrine comes clean about the fact that he’s been sleeping with jace for years during their breaks bc he feels like he cant propose to aurora without telling her about it, he doesnt want to go into a marriage with a guilty conscience)

My Eto Ranger self insert is Cabbage! He's shipped with Kirinda/Lydia. he's a...janitor i suppose? its his job to keep the ship and common area clean. he's super antisocial but enjoys speaking to kirinda while cleaning because it's less stressful than talking face to face with a living person. He falls HARD for that robot and their relationship begins before kirinda gets his physical body back but cabbage certainly enjoys the goofball regardless of form

My One Piece self insert is Karma! He's shipped with Law and sometimes the heart pirates in general as a polyship. Hes the user of the ryu ryu no mi model chameleon. He joined the crew a little after Sabaody after stowing away. He's kind of a menace but hes their menace. hes really bad at his job because he doesn't have the skills to utilize his fruits powers correctly. Law unfortunately sympathizes with them having childhoods that parallel at points. I do not have a self insert that i ship with Deuce. I have delusions about being Ace and we were partners

My GoBB self insert is named Eddie! Theyre an anteater who was made to work with disabled children and theyre shipped with Banban! I hope that doesnt sound weird I was in and out of sped classes as a kid so I wanted to reflect that.

I have only one other alter. And we are pretty much ambivalent to each other. We don’t hate each other, we don’t particularly like each other either. Due to this, I feel as though I’m faking because alters are supposed to be formed to help, to comfort take care or in the case of a persecutor to cause trouble. But she and me don’t do any of these things to each other. When she front sometimes I come ba k to realize she got me in trouble but it’s never for the express purpose of getting me in trouble. Even in the inner world void, we don’t talk to each other, just sometimes see each other. It’s also very isolating because I feel so left out of system positivity posts, as they’re always about how much their system supports them but I have one other person and she doesn’t like me. I feel like I. An never talk about or be positive about my system in system spaces. It’s lonely. What should I do? Is there anything I can do? Am I faking? You don’t have to answer every question I know it’s a lot just any kind of answer would be nice.

When people think of the perfect image of a family or friendship, it all varies but the similarity in general (of how i think) is everything being as functional and as happy as possible all the time, right? I wish, that only exists in fiction sadly. It does not work that way in real life (or to an extent) as not everyone can be friends with each other and thats fine.

I hope you would appreciate me telling my own relationships with others-- i'll give you one,, this one's a secondary keeper, it's a he, so in short he and i are sort of "meh" with each other,, sometimes he gets me in trouble or i get him or others in trouble,, we do not click at all in a discussion or in a debate as we got our own opinions and morals. Does this makes us perfect? No it doesn't. Does it also means we're not doing the things we're supposed to? No, we do our work. Even though it is true that parts are created to be of help, its only half of the truth,, and the even trickier thing is if you don't see things from a different perspective, it will make people assume that the "help" has one definitive meaning and form. This is untrue.

If you think of love, what comes to your mind at first,, is it physical touch like hugs? Maybe being supportive? Attentive? Meeting your emotional needs? Physical needs?? If a guardian love its child, it may not be able to sacrifice time to play together or go somewhere and have fun, be it either too busy working to meet your needs or other problems,, does this means the guardian doesn't love you because not being with you all the time? No. Do you wish it talks with you more? Probably yes. If love can comes in many form, so does with help.

Back to my relation with the secondary keeper, we do not fare well with each other and i BARELY talk to him,, but taking account of his or my actions, mutually agree to work together in solving (because i'd just push him away i couldn't care that much) and keeping an eye out of each other is still a form of help, not what anyone would ask for but needed. Do we go along well? No. But sure we do still have our own ways of being a help. It is alright to have fights, to have enemies, to not know each other despite living in one same body for years-- it is also okay if everyone goes along with each other and barely fight and support each other pretty often,, everyone's dynamic look different, so in conclusion, you are not faking for having it differently.

   To rip the band-aid off : I dont like that Yuma is a part of Astral’s soul.

    While may have framed it as a romantic ‘Soulmates’ situation and others have seen it as a close brotherly connection akin to family, for me it just grinds at me because it feels like it Undercuts the Genuine effort of both Yuma and Astral when it came to learning to understand each other and become friends.

   It’s easy to forget later on into the series but these two had to Work Hard to become as close as they are. I’d go as far to say they served as wonderful representation for young kids on how to adapt to their Nerodivergent and neurotypical friends! Yuma has to Listen and Adapt his way of talking and explaining over the course of Almost Twenty Episodes to get to a state where he can communicate with Astral smoothly in a way the envoy understands. Similarly it takes even more episodes for Astral to adapt his methods of explanation and how he goes about helping Yuma. This all takes so long because they have to Learn how to read each other and how to best help each other. It took time, patience and a Willingness to learn and change methods for them to become so inseparable.

   Which is where my problem with the ‘Yuma is Actually part of Astral’ thing came from,,,

   To say that they were ‘Destined to work together’ ‘Fated to form a bond closer then any before’ just feels like it cheapens all the work they did to get there. It feel less like they grew so close out of a beautifully genuine desire to understand and befriend each other and more because ‘Well obviously they’d get along eventually that’s part of his soul right there!’

   This is an issue i have with ‘chosen one’ plots in general, in that they undercut the protagonist’s actual personality and choices in some areas because ‘they’re fated to’

   It makes the story feel less like Yuma was eventually able to form Zexal with Astral because he took Genuine time and Effort to understand and befriend him in a genuine display of compassion and kindheartedness even from someone as stubborn as a 13 year old boy : And turns it into this grand destiny thing that was bound to happen anyway because hes The Special One whos the Only One who could ever form Zexal which-

   I dont like that their friendship became this destained thing,    I dont like that Zexal went from a metaphor of the wonders that can be created when you learn to understand and befriend those different then you into some prophesized savior.

OH BOY so ive been meaning to drop some stuff about them(even the oldest ones because they've got some updates boooi) but ive been too busy drawing squid and playing squid bideogame to write about squid do u get me

so UH ill use this as my excuse to do at least some rambling uwU (<- me before i wrote this whole fuckin thing) they're all around the same age (17-19) but their character arcs sorta start based on the game i made them for (does that make sense?)

i wanna get them all smth decent on toyhouse eventually but this will do for now lmao

okay so this post is long as hell its readmore time

so to start with the splat 1 crew who were around 14 when i first made them;

but first here's the post w most of them, for reference :-)

Fernanda is basically the focus point of everything that happens here. Definition of girlboss; she moves every plot point because she is bold and determined to reach her goals. Her main objective is the classic BECOME THE VERY BEST and for that she's constantly trying to assemble the perfect team; though the means to reach that goal are pretty flexible. She's pretty much feral in battle, and is what some might call a "tryhard" in-game. She does try very hard. Way too much sometimes.

-anyway the moment she became a legit kid who is a squid at 14 she started going to turf war bc it was always her passion. Additionally, the moment her Childhood Bestie(tm) Speckle reached the same age she dragged him too. Personally, he'd rather not get into that stuff because hes very timid and nervous and scared and- yeah, that- but he's willing to do it with a friend; specially Fernanda, whose secondary hobby is beating up people who are mean to him. Thats sorta how they met in the first place.

She is, however, very determined to teach him the ins and outs of turf war and challenge him to go out of his comfort zone. He likes using brushes because he's an artsy person, but since it's a mostly aggressive weapon type, Fernanda wants him in the frontlines with her. It's just strats guys she totally isn't also doing it just to spend more time with her friend :-) shhh

But he sorta sticks like glue and depends a lot on her for safety, which isn't really the best idea in her mind. SO to try to teach him to be more confident she eventually starts joining the opposing team instead.

Needless to say, Spec is terrified being in a team without her. Doesn't help that she's the enemy, either, even though she usually doesn't outright splat him when they eventually clash. She moreso tries to give him a lesson first. It doesn't work very well. And worse yet, at one point some annoying ass charger starts targeting her specifically whenever she gets close to the other side of the map.

...And that's Gabriel (but i just call him gabe) :) He sorta notices how this girl keeps going after the same guy over and over again and eventually went 'yeah okay thats enough' and just started giving Speckle some support. (wanna make a lil note here that this is based on an actual thing that happened to me in game; i ran out of ink in a fight and the team charger blasted them and we both went BOOYAH. ill never forget u bro)

So yeah spec being spec he glued onto gabe instead. fernanda was, indeed, very upset by this because not only she couldn't enforce her lessons anymore but also spec was just doing the thing she didn't want him keep doing in the first place. And dealing with gabe is like. very, very annoying. specially for her as a roller main. he's always camping at the same few spots and he pretty much always avoids confrontation of any kind; motherfucker just jumps back to spawn or to a teammate who's safe. He has not only an advantage in range, but also his aim is impeccable. it's terrible hes terrible

anyway spec, despite being timid, actually grows attached to people really fast. from then on, every time they spot gabe in the lobby he waves and invites him to join them. fernanda is very annoyed my this but eventually she actually forms some sorta friendly rivalry with him(instead of, ynow, her being motivated purely to kick his ass). she ends up inviting him to join her (to be) Perfect Team(tm) and they all start hanging out more and learning how to work as a group.

also theres this plot thread

its really just classic fluff n they end up dating like god intended

now there's like a big story gap here because, uh, it used to be some shared stuff with a friend but-- Yeah. im not sure what to do with that just yet. (..and its the big arc where fernanda has the most character development, strengthens her goals and improves herself. big gay shit too. bummer. 😔)

This gap extends all the way to the timeline of Splatoon 2, where they're all around 16

But lemme add some misc stuff that's happened since the first game tho; -Speckle has a new hobby, weapon customization! :-) he mostly does it for fun or for his friends, but occasionally someone comes up offering pay for it. he's not very confident about actually selling the stuff, but hey, he wasn't the one who asked for money. -Gabe learns to camp less but he gets tired real fast. -Fernanda and Gabe actually form a good and strong bond???? the rivalry is still there and they sometimes do 1v1 because she wants to get better at fighting people with far ranged weapons. -Actually, Fernanda's skill in particular grows exponentially. She's really giving it all she's got. Speckle might be less scared of going to turf alone, but it still makes him sorta nervous. -They move together to a lil place near Inkopolis Plaza because I don't follow real world rules (does a little dance) i will spare you of the somewhat underdeveloped socioeconomic hcs i made for this

OK MOVING FORWARD-

Splatoon 2 is the "Fernanda goes out scouting for a 4th person to complete their team and Spec befriends every single candidate" arc. It's what it says on the very specific tin. Just three of them won't do, and they have to get a 4th team member in order to start actually cooking some neat strategies because everyone has to be in on it.

They do turf and ranked matches and Fernanda tries to recruit the people who do best alongside them. In this process they meet Fernando, aka Fucco bc hes a fucker thats all there is to it lmao(though I have to mention Gabe is the origin of this nickname because he can't fucking stand Fernando; everyone else just sorta agrees because Yeah It's True), and through him they also are introduced to Roberta(bobby) and Orlando(orb!!!), who are his buddies and theyre just here to chill tbh.

When Fernanda rejects Fucco as a possible team member he is absolutely offended by it. So he rallies up his allies(see: his two friends) to clash against the og trio. Thing is, they don't really have much experience as a team. Bobby and Orb just sorta do turf casually, for fun. Fucco is the only one of them who is actually competitive and he just thinks great at it (hes average at best). He's always acting like they're the mean girls when both teams cross paths and tries to make up for his lack of skill with witty remarks, which, granted, is something he actually is good at.

He sorta starts pushing his teammates a bit too much to the point they're not really having fun anymore so they have to like stop supporting this for a moral lesson that he does not listen to and makes him feel betrayed so he gets upset at them. And then these battles devolve into just 1v1 between [chuckles] Fernanda and Fernando with everyone watching it like it's a saturday morning cartoon because honestly theres no contest here. This obviously makes him break eventually, and so Fernanda now is the one who has to break the moral lesson about idk fighting with passion, teamwork, actually accepting your own flaws and working around them and not through them, etc etc all that anime kinda stuff. Maybe throw something about the power of friendship there too just for flavor.

So while all these things happens, Spec is just being nice with the other team. He sometimes just stops mid-battle to listen to Orb rambling about something as he often does(yeah they just sit there but don't worry Gabe is always there to watch for whiny tryhards too), gives them a lil booyah when they do cool stuff, and always invites them to chill at the cafeteria when they're all done with their matches. And they do, although Fernando has a little uuuuuuh trouble with this. There's always a long exchange of threatening glares between him and Gabe and/or Fernanda. He's mostly only there because Orb is a friend he'd die for. and Orb really likes Speckle too.

Annnd yeah when this is all settled down and Fucco has finally stopped trying to be a nuisance these guys all merge into One Larger Group and he actually gets to join Fernanda's team in turf; not as one of them, though, just hanging out with them. It's all just shenanigans for them for a while after all that's done (-:

Eventually they meet MY BOY Michael aka Mikemas which is like Splatmas but with his (nick)name because he was 12 when he made that username. I switched the protagonist POV to him because, in case you haven't noticed, I just really love him. He's a little bastard who's got a significant following on the internet; he occasionally livestreams turf war(and other stuff) and has a BIG passion for music. Also makes funny short skits and other trendy type of content you'd see from an online personality. Speaking of online personality - that's all his sorta dumb egocentric attitude is. Though he is very confident, most of the dumb shit he says and does is mean to be a joke (see: "I don't need this, I'm an influencer" while being completely aware he isn't of that scale yet). Biggest highlights are the Calamari Inkantation ballad cover - the thing which usually makes people notice just how good his vocals are - and the "Now Or Never But Every Loop Gets Faster" video.

And then there's Manga, who I just got out of the afriendmadethis limbo because he and Mike go hand in hand. They live together and they're childhood friends who are, really close, not in a romantic way but in a way you'd probably think is. Manga participates in the internet presence stuff as well, he plays the keyboard and has a soundboard of funny sound effects for streaming :-) He's nonverbal, very quiet and deadpan most of the time but he's basically got the same sense of humor as Mike; they're very similar in a lot of ways that would make you question if maybe they're actually siblings? (they aren't) He's just less confident and less likely to engage in dumb shit; to the point he kinda has to act like a fuckin babysitter because someone keeps "forgetting" to take the medicine for their bipolar disorder and we simply can't let that happen so I guess we gotta fuckin suplex him to do it I guess. A lot of things need to have parental controls enabled because someone is very prone to addiction and keeps trying to play videogames for 24 hours nonstop without consuming anything but the hoard of iced tea they have in the fridge, which occasionally has to be locked also.

(in conclusion mike would've never been allowed to live away from his family if manga wasn't there)

Anyway yeah they meet Mike in turf and he's actually almost as good as he says he at it is so he earns the invitation to claim the honorable title of 4th member of Fernanda's team. ...Okay. It's more like. He's the one person who accepted it, I guess. And thus, Mike and Manga get to join their table at the cafeteria.

The last characters I made for Splatoon 2 were these guys, who never really got any development(or even names) until Splatoon 3 so I'm kinda pushing them to be for the Splat 3 plots I've been cookin'. And they finally have names - Vespa Gel, Roll and Viv.

So yeah now where we are, Splatoon 3 where everyone is 17-19. This is all still going on in the general area near Inkopolis Plaza, though we'll get to the mentions of Splatsville soon.

Mike was a very late addition to the team, so he isn't very well adjusted to the way they go about in turf and... He isn't really what we can call responsible, and is quite the chore to deal with. This bit of plot is mostly about several dumb conflicts between him and Fernanda because he keeps skipping practice, missing calls, and mostly acts independently instead of trying to work as a team. He is, however, a vital asset because of the skill level and comes in clutch very often, which is why he hasn't been kicked out of the team yet.

Now the stuff here is mostly still a mess so I'll get to some key points that happen parallel to that conflict--

-Mike meets Viv in turf and they bond a lot not just during matches but also afterwards bc Viv just sorta likes taking walks around the plaza and Mike tags along, initially because he wants to know when he could expect to see Viv in turf again because its good stream content and he just really likes going against people who match his skill bc it's fun :-) This sorta leads to them just hanging out a lot and meanwhile everyone at the table is just... sorta giggling quietly about how sus he's being bc of how he excitedly talks about Viv but he pushes back saying it's just some fun kinda rivalry y'now??? nothing to see here.

-Viv eventually has to stop hanging out bc he kinda is part of a gang that now kinda despises Mike. Well, Vespa, specifically, but the other two have goon brain so they gotta pretend they also hate him. They could hurt him in all sorts of bad ways because the boys r kinda unhinged, so Viv decides it's the best option to stop hanging out at the plaza(which is actually pretty far from where he lives)

-Sen is from Splatsville, he moved to Inkopolis alone to work towards a career goal by taking some extensive courses and apprenticeships. He is constantly overworking himself and being stressed due to it, but he really doesn't want to grow attached to anyone in Inkopolis because he is very deeply affected by separation. This move itself has been very hard for him, even though he still has contact with his friends back in the Splatlands, and he doesn't want to have to go through it again when he eventually goes back home. Well, that was the plan until he was forced to have a funny little guy who sticks like glue, as a treat :-)

Pilipinas the women in the story or the main character who experienced a lot of mistreatments and hardships as a mother of her childrens and was misfortunate of her prostitute life was portrayed by the author as a strong mother who faced a lot of jugdments from her neighbors but still stand even if she was jugde by her so called "neighbors".

Pilipinas is the main character on the other hand the secondary characters are the foreigners and her neighbors her childrens these secondart characters are the protagonist of this story and the antagonist is pilipinas.

This stort takes us from the history but mainly focuses in pilipinas who experienced a lot of hardships and jugdements the antagonist they make her feel that she is disguisting and a lower form of human.

The theme of this story is that this story takes us where pilipinas is the main character who's prostitute the story takes us in the history because these 3 foreigners symbolizes spain,america and japan the story shows us how theses three foreigners raped and abuse pilipinas.

hi nonnie! thats very flattering !! i’m sorry i dont think i’ll be very helpful bc i’m a mega noob as well :D but i’ll try my very best <3

my process is very tailored for speed instead of quality (oops soz LOL) so i do suggest this for if u have short doodle breaks ⬇️⬇️⬇️

thumbnailing (for comics) -> lines (sketch who?) -> bucket tool/color drop in the base color -> color in the lines -> one multiply layer for a “base” shadow (in the vid below its purple!) -> one (1) render/paint layer a.k.a lawless no man’s land

full rendering process & more general painting tips below the cut‼️

NOTE: i’ll be focusing more on traditional/fundamental tips for stylized art because i’m sure there’s a much more effective way in digital. I truly do only use one normal layer for render... i think this is bc before i made this blog, my only prior experience in drawing is middle school art class, so all i know is traditional painting on one layer.... pray i can answer this again in the future with something smarter lmao

🌺 MY PAINT PROCESS

1. Choose a color scheme!

It doesn’t have to be set in stone like below, but i at least keep in mind the color range i’d like to use depending on what i want to convey (ex. soft pastels for soft fluff, or warm colors for happy vibes). I try to be as limited as possible for base colors because I tend to go ham when painting, you’ll see later AHAHA

2. Base coloring + Base shadow

Base -> bucket tool in the color scheme (I know other artists are against this but when i discovered the bucket tool in digital art I immediately divorced manual coloring i’m sorry i loved you tho bae) (this is why my style and lines are simplistic as they are, so the color drop works!)

Base shadow -> in theory, warm-colored light creates cool-colored shadows and vice versa. because i’m a fluff addict i mainly use warmer light, so i like using blue/purple as the shadow. generally u can’t go wrong with complementary colors!! (yellow light & purple shadows / orange light & blue shadows).

I make a new multiply layer (decreased opacity just bc i like things soft okay) and clip it on the base layer, then block in the areas i think would get blocked from the light.

3. Color in the lines!

for simplistic styles i swear this works wonders. i just clip a layer to the lineart and manually color the lines with a darker but more saturated version of the base color. it just tends to look more dead i guess with low saturation lol (ex. u can see above i use both peach and red or pink for lines of skin, i guess it implies the blood under the skin too. or something :D)

4. RENDERRRR

when i’m not in a rush i just paint things completely (and mindlessly), but here are the things i almost always do:

line the shadows with a saturated color! i’m not sure this is common but i love it lol, in almost all my doodles just check the shadows—on the edges, there’s bound to be a wild color :D (usually its the light color, shadow color or a color scheme color but sometimes i’m just like boY do i loVe piNk)

my art major friend told me about saturated colors on desaturated bases and my life was changed forever lol. u can see below even when my base is very grayyy, my rendering is very gay :D ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

make the shadows darker where i think they should be darker. usually i can just colorpick from that darker, saturated lineart color!

if it’s a more realistic piece i usually make the highlights lighter, but in simple doodles i find it unnecessary, and i dont like how light/white it looks :( i tend to just make the areas exposed to light more saturated

color in the rebound light~ in reality there’s usually not only one primary light source, at least there’d be secondary light from where light bounces off objects. in art we just emphasize that! so in large shadow areas, or in areas close to other objects/colors, i like to ‘splash’ other colors on

yeah this part is less intuitive for beginners and u have to learn a grasp on the concepts over time, like for lighting and structure. values can be more important than color, so i do suggest learning shading first before coloring, but only if u like (u can always be like me and just pull up references when u dont get how the light would fall on some materials :>). i have more general paint tips below! don’t give up okay, i believe in u nons, we’re all still in the eternal learning process together ( •̀ᄇ• ́)ﻭ✧

5. OOOOHHH SHINY ✨🤩

this step is just me being mesmerized by how easy it is to play with lighting in digital. i play around with the layer settings (multiply for shadow, overlay for light, and often try out the other settings too!). my favorite effect is the highlight glow thing, where u just make a copy layer of the highlights below the original layer, and blur it slightly so it looks like glow ✨✨🤩 overpriced acrylic could never

6. COLOR ADJUST / EDIT

Truthfully i usually skip this step, but my more pro friends really vouch for it!! i think definitely an incredible thing with digital is that u can edit proportions and even color after you’re done. i think they usually use like the curves adjustment layer in photoshop until they get colors they like, but for me, well, in a reaally diligent day i like to slap on the “auto” fliter in the iphone’s photos edit button lmaoooo

🌺 GENERAL PAINTING TIPS

learn basic theory: i think theres free courses everywhere online, but heres a few things u might like to have a basic understanding of: color, perspective, shape language, lighting, composition. don’t sweat it too much tho, it should be fun to explore the concepts!

and for drawing hoomans: proportion, gesture, expression, and veery basic anatomy. i find that overall forms are so much more important to learn than like detailed anatomy bc u can always look it up lol

but remember, u mostly want to learn the rules so u know better ways to break them :)

I thunk i just had a big brain moment

So I just finished watching a scientist person (at least they have a radiation spot and uranium glass that they made) show off their uranium glass that they made. He put it under a blacklist. AND I SHIT YOU NOT the xolour the glass became was the EXACT shade of Danny Phantoms eyes while in ghost form or doing the scary eyes.

SO it had me thinking. The 'ghost detectors' the Fentons use really detect uranium. (Also seen in the video was a hand held device which beeped the closer it came to the uranium glass...sounds familiar. Right?) Which is why Danny in human form, he has to be semi-close to ghost detecting devices as he's human and has less exposure to uranium. BUT as the shows seasons go by he (human form Danny) can be more easily detected by the ghost detectors. We (the Phandom) also have the HC that the more Danny accepts his ghostly form/his half-death the more powerful his ghostly form is and the more control he has. We have never been given any knowledge of what the portal has been made of...

SO I propose this theory. To get into the Ghost Zone the Fentons had to recreate a highly concentrated form of a decomposing body (idk if a naturally decomposing body radiated uranium but whatever I don't care). BUT it (the portal) didn't just not work initially because the machiene was off on the inside, it lacked a consciousness or a will to get to the GZ. The fentons had to halt the process of a naturally decomposing body at a sweet spot to fully get to the other side but not far enough that it 'went too far' (lacking words here im dead tired rn) to mimic a fully decomposed body (aka past the time where a ghost could transition to the GZ). When Danny went into the portal he became the consciousness required to get the transportation to happen. (He also touched the on button to re-start the online sequence that the elder Fentons did in their initial test which failed.) DANNY had just the right amount of want (or will if you prefer) to get the portal opened, but thats not the only reason why he went in, so he didn't become the portal. Yet he had enough want to make it back to his friends and living life to stay within the human realm and enough wish/want/will to be something other then a wimp or someone who is overlooked and bullied.

A. Regarding Vlads accident with the above in mind, not only did the soda interfere with the delicate balance of recreating a decomposing body, the sequence was just a tad too far beyond the 'sweet spot' I mentioned previously and the portal didn't stay and created the exto-acne.

B. Danny's body not only was electrocuted it was also quickly absorbing the radiation which went to create the balance of a decomposing body. Because there seemed to be both a previously decomposing a body...lacking a true flesh form there was also a rapidly dying flesh body. Both of which were in a sweet spot to just combine. Danny wasn't fully developed so it was FAR easier to combine the two as the fleshy body within. The fleshy body could be convinced to accept the lacking-a-flesh secondary body in addition, combined all together with Danny's main wishes in life to create Phantom while maintaining a slightly less radiated human formed body baisically remaining the same previous to entering the portal. (obviously with a. Bunch of pain. But it could be done)

C. The true scientists of the family come into contact with radiation quite frequently due to their job and so had to create new, unique, personalized, ultimately BETTER anti-radiation suits out of necessity. (Also how they get the majority of their funds as many places will pay top dollar for the best protection against radioactive which could get the highest lawsuits and its FAR better to avoid those as it also gets the publics attention to things those with money don't want publicized. So who cares that they come from unique scientists every single scientist has something outside and unique to themselves. Their product gets the shor done and what they do with the money after being paid is not their buisness.) They don't take them off often due to different experiments which could need to be checked periodically safely at a moments notice.

Kids outside of those hours aren't encouraged after all. ALSO Jazz and Danny grew up between two different scientific labs their used to this shit and official safety measures can get an eye roll most times. (Pulling from the experience with high-school, elementary, junior High school, and some college science classes.)

Additionally, they go out to hunt ghosts which are radioactive and they need more protection then the average citizen. Danny's chores within the lab MUST be done at a certain time as he dosent really have the ultimate best suit and the experiments must be put away safely. We do see the stereotypical radiation signs absolutely everywhere in the background after all.
