Finished little goody two shoes a second time, got a few thoughts. Mostly rambling, definitely full of spoilers. I do strongly suggest playing and getting at least a few endings before reading if you want to avoid spoilers and want to understand said rambles.

okay first off Freya is best girl. Like holy fuck best girl. That being said, I romanced Lebkuchen, I relate too much to a girl in a faith crisis for concerning personal reasons. Said reasons will not be explained. But truly her good ending is the best thing for her. Like this is completely biased but I can see the other girls finding their own happiness in their own time, but Lebby needed a good kick in the ass first before she could do that (this observation is based off of projection)

But the writing in this game was great. I love all the girls for all different reasons, and honestly kinda love all the characters even if they are toxic. The way they set up the town to emphasize the separation between the mc and the rest of the cast. The negative comments even when you get a S rank in the mini games. The constant juggling of Rozenmarine and Muffy and Jochen and Obilie to keep suspicion against you down. And those occasional ray of sunshine characters! Freya is too good for the town. And honestly, if I could romance Gustav. I love him. I do have a few problems with it, but I'll get to that in a bit.

And holy shit the art work. There is too much to go over for that. The vibe change the manage between the different days to show the town descent into madness. The stylistic changes in the woods. The fucking music scenes. THE MUSIC. Idk man I think whoever was their art director deserves every praise out there. They have this absolutely adorable 90s anime mixed with early disney/hand-drawn style style, and then this almost clamationish(i think? idk how to describe it) surrealist style in the woods. And it's all handled masterfully. I hope this team comes out with more because they are kinda fantastic at this.

Okay praises done, now with some critiques:

Really wished they did more with the endings. Yes, I know, crazy sounding since they already have 10, but it kinda felt like there should be... more? or different ones? Like with the notes/investigation with father Hans, I thought his ending would end up with him sacrificing the town to St Walpurga. Or something more dramatic. Just killing him and Elise being possessed felt... incomplete. Also think there should be a "fight and defeat the demon" ending. Like some sort of ending where you have to get 1 ending with each of the girls, then you can defeat the demon. Cause end of the day, he is the antagonist and my tiny gamer brain wants to see him banished.

And I think the entire golden girls part feel incomplete. I mostly did the second playthrough to get all of them, and I do love the additional lore, but I fully thought there would be a way to free their souls? Like finding all of them would unlock gma's room, you get a mysterious key item, and you use that at the right moment to defeat the demon.

I get why there wasn't a fight the demon ending, this is supposed to be an all powerful monster and the only way to defeat him is to not play his game, so a fight the demon ending doesn't really fit the narrative they are going for. but... it's a favorite trope of mine. Maybe I missed it? I tried to stick with minimal research when getting the endings, mostly just googled where to get the golden girls.

All in all though, great game. Would recommend, especially for the lesbians and wlw out there 😘 would seduce a young women to sacrifice to the devil again. Is going to go down as my favorite toxic yuri game

Also yes I immediately bought pocket mirror, I'm enjoying it so far. Fucking love surrealism man

do any of you ever lay awake at night thinking about how Kremy gifted Gideon a comb even though, obviously, lizardfolk don't have any hair.

because that means that Kremy went out of his way to get Gid this gift. A comb isn't just something an alligator would have or just collect somewhere to have it for later, Kremy likely never needed or thought of having anything of the sort.

But Kremy noticed how roughed up Gideon was, how he didn't have anything on him to take care of himself and Kremy came up with the idea and then spent time and possibly money (or he just swiped it but still) to find a nice comb just for Gideon and then gave it to him.

Nikkie described it so beautifully that it was the first time someone saw Gideom as his own man and that also makes my heart ache so much. But I just can't stop thinking about how freaking Kremy Lecroux, went out of his way, to get a thing he likely never even thought of getting, just to give it to his partner (in crime). Like yeah sure we can talk about how Kremy wouldn't want to travel with someone unkept but I don't think it's that. He'd get Gideom a bath and a haircut or something at an inn and done, issue solved. But no, Kremy specifically wanted to get a thing for Gideon, he wanted him to have something that's just for him, something to help him get his sense of self back, his looks and help him find his confidence.

It was thoughtful gift from Kremy who probably is the last person to do thoughtful gifts to just some people. But he made that gesture for Gideon.

like do you ever just lay there and think about all that and how they both must have felt almost an instant bond forming between them, doesn't matter if it's platonic or romantic, like do you just-- yeah.

today marks one year since the start of my gideon hyperfixation, not only this guy is responsible for the lot of my artworks but kinda influenced my own personal life which is insane. i had to draw something pomptous for the ocassion

the fulfilled motifs in alhaitham and kaveh's relationship are on my brain!!

- most poignantly, the two coming together to unveil the temple of silence in cyno’s story quest, which parallels their thesis on ancient architecture and runes of king deshret’s era, as the two appropriate the other’s respective signature (alhaitham recognises architectural structures whereas kaveh is struck by the beauty of an emblem) - where the two once fell out due to the disharmony of their viewpoints, they have reconciled them within this quest

- there’s the two working together in the house of daena, where they argued in the house of daena upon meeting them in the archon quest, where they were described to have a ‘terrible’ relationship by the npc geoff, which is mirrored in cyno’s story quest by the two actively working together - as well as paralleling the npc archon quest scene the player has to actively seek out in which the two argue once more, whereas in cyno’s story quest, the two willingly exchange information and are supportive in helping the other

- we have the fulfilment of kaveh losing his family and therefore his idea of ‘home’ through him actively referring to the house he and alhaitham share as ‘home’, and that he wants to return to it together with alhaitham, as a set, and by implication a family, in cyno’s story quest

- by extension, kaveh not concealing his living arrangements by openly referring to him and alhaitham’s ‘home’ in front of his friends, which refers back to when kaveh asks the traveller to keep it a secret upon meeting him officially in alhaitham’s story quest

- kaveh buying wine and coffee beans in the tavern, alhaitham and kaveh sharing wine in their house, which is something they are mentioned to do in the bulletin boards of sumeru as well as in alhaitham's story quest, going hand in hand with the two drinking coffee together in the house of daena, with kaveh mentioning he wishes he had made some for them before leaving the house, which refers back to his 2023 birthday letter where he and alhaitham taste tested coffee beans (i am, once again asking, for an alhaitham mention in 2024....),

for future sumeru quests or events i am thinking of the unfulfilled instances or things that can be addressed??

- whether kaveh accepts alhaitham's research into sachin's influence over his father as closure for his involvement in his father disappearing into the desert, as his reaction differs from whether alhaitham tells him vs when the traveller tells him. since cyno's story quest 2 indicates that alhaitham telling him is what happened in canon, this subsequently betters their relationship. the idea of kaveh's cycle of self-detriment due to his past guilt hasn't been addressed since apop and it remains uncertain as to if kaveh has made steps to forgive himself or if he even wants to. this development of kaveh's character is truly interesting and i would love to see it explored at some point, and also in turn what alhaitham's involvement is in this, as in his newly accepted support of kaveh

- kaveh writing to/visiting his mother in fontaine? or at least a mention of kaveh's mother, as his hangout has a heavy focus on faranak's past relationship with kaveh and her hopes for his future, which we see in her advice to him as a struggling artist being that to found reliable companions. if kaveh undergoes a reconciliation arc within himself, as in he aims to forgive himself for his past guilt, then it would make sense for him to have a reconnection with his mother to talk about the past in order to truly look to the future

- kaveh and alhaitham having a role to play in the exploration of the temple of silence in future events - hints of this may be seen in sethos cautioning cyno that he may only invite people he and lord kusanali deem worthy, for cyno to then tell alhaitham and kaveh upon arriving back in sumeru. To this, kaveh expresses an open interest and cyno tells him that he will have an opportunity to investigate in the future. As alhaitham and kaveh have teamed up together in order to investigate into the temple of silence, and are indirectly connected to it through their thesis of king deshret, it seems they will likely be a part of the role the temple of silence will play in the future

(- i thought that an unfulfilled instance could be kaveh referring to alhaitham as his friend in game as this would be a callback to when paimon asked whether he and alhaitham were friends, to which he replied that they ‘used to be’ but weren’t anymore… but in terms of how alhaitham and kaveh's relationship is handled in-game, i think queercoding plays a big part in having labels such as ‘friends’ continue to be evaded (i have spoken about definitive labels being avoided in the writing of haikaveh here), this is backed up by sethos’ voice line as the two are paired together as “alhaitham and kaveh” and are referenced as a set with “those two”, rather than a definitive label such as ‘roommates’ or ‘friends’ being placed on them. Rather, they are conceived to be something outside of this, as sethos conveys their ‘otherness’ with “something about those two hanging out, you just can’t look away”, so i think, imo, it would fall more in line for them to continually not be assigned definitive relationship status, but if the improvement of their relationship is actually mentioned in-game since it was only shown and not told in cyno's story quest 2, it would make sense for them to say something that indicates they overcame misunderstandings or something vague like that. as there's an air of secrecy around alhaitham and kaveh's relationship, the traveller won't ever be privy to the specific details)

2 things ive noticed about sunday and robin bc i can no longer subject my poor best friend to paragraphs on paragraphs and I want this out of me

1. Designs

Sunday features dull, muted colors and has a lot of sharp edges. He's also got darker colors in general. Robin is so much brighter, bouncier, and has a lot of rounded/organic shapes in her design.

2. Sunday constantly in the shadows, Robin always in the spotlight

Goes hand in hand with their designs tbh, which I find cool

He's just always in the back!!!!!! Pretty much speaks for itself...

I'm so curious to know their deal in just a few days, because this has been killing me this week, on top of their baby trailer 😭😭

I was going to draw the crown too but decided I don't hate myself that much(maybe some other day), and gave him a golden laurel crown, bcs I'm obsessed with that as a motif, and also its very remincient of the boy king statue that started this whole thing!

There's some symbolism of this, both intentionally but also just historically. I love that the orb represents that the monarch is holding the world in their hand, basically every old monarchy has one of those, and I think it's very cool for symbolism. But also bcs of that, I was forced to basically draw catholic fanart so, you win some you lose some. The star halo above him head is both to reference those religious statues with star crowns(I saw them a lot in Europe and they imprinted onto my brain), as well as: his four championships of course!

Shadow has amnesia like in sonic heroes but it's now more focus on Maria and her promise than the previous revenge motivation in SA2 (still distrusting of humans though)
