Top 10 Albums

Ooh this is a good one and probably gonna be mostly nostalgia because I never really listened to complete albums.

I was tagged by @merge-conflict and I am tagging @byberbunk2069 because I KNOW that bitch got albums.

These are not going to be in any particular order like by favorite or anything, just the first ones that really come up for me.

These first two are going to be multiple albums.

1. No Thanks! The 70s Punk Revolution

My mom got this for me for Christmas when I was 13 or 14 and it introduced to me old early punk. She yelled at me once for playing "Oh bondage, up yours!" by The X-Ray Specs too loud. I had already liked some 90s/00s punk from my sister and the radio and stuff I found on Limewire, but this really started it all. It came with a little booklet that had a little mini history and anecdotes about all the bands. I really liked Iggy Pop a lot.

Also, I thought I was hot shit and Different from other punks and would spend hours in a Yahoo IM punk music chatroom arguing with people older than me about what real punk music was.

2. This 15 disc set of 80s new wave I downloaded off of whatever torrent program

When I finally got my first iPod and iTunes was a thing, BitTorrent was also becoming more in vogue and replaced Limewire for me. I only torrented entire discographies. There was this 15 album set of 80s New Wave music. So, both of these compilations are very important because my taste in music will always be punk and 80s new wave at its core.

This set introduced me to Erasure (and so did my drum teacher), Army of Lovers, all the classic stereotypical 80s pop hits and even some dark wave bands!

3. The Postal Service - Give Up

This was one of the first albums I ever listened to all the way through. I listened to it on my CD player when I was flying to Minnesota to visit my online boyfriend when I was 16 to lose my virginity. (Don't ask, my mom let me get away with some weird ass shit). And it was the first album that made me realize, most albums should probably be listened to all the way through because they have a whole story. This one is about a guy dealing with a bad break up.

4. Reel Big Fish - Cheer Up!

I don't care if it makes my a ska poser, I love this album. I think it's one of the albums I bought with my own money from Hot Topic. I just love all the songs on it and loved the album art. Drunk Again is a song very near and dear to me. That and their cover of New York, New York are my favorites to absolutely belt out in the car.

5. Fatboy Slim - You've Come A Long Way Baby

One of THE first albums I EVER bought with my own money (okay when I say "own money" I mean my allowance). I had to have been 13-15? At the Fiesta Mall (RIP) Hot Topic in Arizona with one of my friends. One of the other albums I bought will be next.

I only like Right Here, Right Now, Rockafeller Skank, and In Heaven (still get "Fatboy Slim is fuckin' in heave / fuckin' in heaven / fuckin' in heaven" stuck in my head.)

6. Short Music for Short People - Fat Wreck Chords Compilation Album

The other CD I bought in that same shopping trip. I later would go on Limewire and find the full versions of songs. It introduced me to a lot of my fave punk bands and I still get some of the little bits stuck in my head from time to time.

It was a promotional album released by the studio Fat Wreck Chords. The gimmick was 101 artists with 30 second or less songs.

It also introduced me to Gwar!

Unfortunately, the album isn't on Spotify but a kind soul curated a playlist with all of the songs that were on the album.

7. Slipknot - Iowa

My first kinda real boyfriend gifted me this album and a custom mix CD that included songs like Seether by Veruca Salt, a song by Matthew Sweet I can't remember and some others. We watched Cabin Fever at his house. He held my hand walking me home and it was very sweaty and clammy. He eventually became my biggest bully at school lmao

I listened to this album all the time at school/on my way to school in middle school when I was depressed.

8. The Distillers - Coral Fang

A BFF I met in middle school who was SO fucking cool and always had funky makeup, she was never shy to express herself. I love her SO much. My first kiss with another girl was my other BFF who has been my BFF for the longest since we were like 8. And then the other one was the first girl I ever fooled around with. We were watching Totoro while she was fingering me in bed at her grandma's house. We also made out and she fingered me while watching Braveheart.

ANYWAY, she introduced me to this album on that same trip. I wanted to sing like Brody Dalle and always wanted her haircuts too.

An honorable mention here is Tribute by Tenacious D, we shared earbuds while listening to it on my CD player and swinging in the hammock on the roof during a nice breezy summer night.

9. Weezer - The Blue Album

I was a HUGE Weezer fan when I was younger and I'd draw their little funky W on all my notebooks next to the anarchy symbol lmao

This album just has the most songs I like. This, The Green Album, and Pinkerton were my faves.

10. Cake - Comfort Eagle

Shadow Stabbing was the opening track in the film Orange County and I really liked that move as a kid for some reason. I love Comfort Eagle, Fashion Nugget, and Pressure Chief about equally. But just like the Weezer album, this one had more songs I liked.

I was like top 0.1% of listeners for Cake on Spotify Wrapped for like three years in a row. I know all the lyrics to almost all of the songs on those three albums and probably have the most songs out of any artist on my driving playlist.

Do you believe in ghosts?: Not particularly? Like sure, stories about ghosts are interesting, but they’re often people trying to find a supernatural explanation for things. When you find out what really happened it’s just not as fun, I get it!

How about aliens?: Considering the size of the universe, yeah, there’s a very real probability there are other life forms in other, distant planets. Dunno if they’re green and weird looking like we make them out to be, though. They can look like us for all we know.

What was the last book you read?: I don’t even know. It’s been waaay too long since I picked up a book and read it. Like I mentioned before though, I keep up my reading with fanfiction.

What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?: Admittedly I’m not the type that gets injured often, and I’ve never broken a bone or anything. Let’s see... when I was learning to ride a bicycle I fell a few times, and there was also one time that I fell down the stairs at my old house.

Do you have any obsessions right now?: Weeell... I’ve been playing Honkai Impact a lot lately and catching up with the story, and I’ve been really liking it. I’m glad I gave it a chance now that I can play it on PC and don’t have to worry about my phone burning in my hand as I play it. I seriously recommend you guys play it!

1. What is one thing you will never do again? Watch The Hours. Film itself is great, but is way too triggering.

2. Would you rather be twice as smart or twice as happy? I’d take happiness easily. It’s not bad for the most part to make mistakes and I’d rather be too clumsy than be altogether miserable.

3. What happened the last time you cried? It was the day of what would’ve been our anniversary and at that moment I was alone in my car at a parking lot (waiting for the office to open) on a gloomy day. I just had to cry and let my feelings out for like 5 minutes to accept everything but I was immediately fine afterwards, haha. Grief can be funny.

4. What happened the time in your life when you were the most nervous to do something? My first job interview. It was my first adult thing ever. They never got back to me - very professional of them - but I was still grateful for the experience nonetheless.

5. What would your parents be surprised to learn about you? That I was in a whole ass relationship for technically 6 1/2 years. They probably have an inkling by now, but only about me being in a relationship. I’m sure they would be very surprised if they ever found out how long it had actually gone for.

6. What’s your worst habit? I pick at my toenails when I’m nervous or stressed. I tend to do this when I’m doing a work task that I particularly dread, and sometimes I’ll end up being fixated on the habit for like 10 minutes straight and not get anything done.

7. What superpower would you have for one day? Time travel, just to take quick trips to multiple decades and see how life was like during those times.

Not necessarily a pet peeve but I get extremely uncomfortable when someone hands me a gift then they insult the gift while in front of me, saying it’s not a great gift or that I probably don’t need it, etc. Filipinos also have this habit of saying something along the lines of, “You earn way more than me so you’d probably think this gift sucks” like how do you want me to react :(((((( I love receiving gifts and the idea of being thought about already means a lot to me, so it just makes me wince a little bit when I hear statements like the above.

11. Who knows you the best? Gabie, probably. I’ve changed a lot since then, though.

12. What after school activities did you do in high school? Clubs were mandatory extracurricular activities in my high school; in my time, I joined the table tennis and yearbook clubs.

I probably would have been honored to get a journalism-themed one though; something like Most Likely To Write for NYT or Most Likely to Win a Pulitzer or something like that. 25. What’s the first thing you would do if you won the lottery? Depends on how much I won lmao. I’d probably retire this early if the money was big enough since I’m pretty stingy anyway. But generally, I would like to pay off whatever bills my parents are currently paying for, get back the car that we had to sell because of the pandemic, and maybe go for a solo vacation or five heheh.

28. What story do your friends still give you crap about? Staying with Gab despite the red flags that glared for four whole years is one of them. Angela will also never let go of that one time I tried some kind of fruit juice in high school and I described it as ‘packs a punch.’ It’s understood as a super Westernized idiom where I live and literally no one uses it in a casual sentence, so it was a hit with her and now we use ‘packs a punch’ whenever we want to describe something awesome or surprising.

29. If earth could only have one condiment for the rest of time, what would you pick to keep around? Mayonnaise and I will die on this mayonnaise-coated hill.

30. What is the ideal number of people to have over on a Friday night? Ideally? At this point? Like 20. I would love for that to be the case on the first Friday we can consider the Philippines COVID-free.

Sorry for yet another incoming Paramore reference but they literally have a lyric that goes, “22 is like, the worst idea that I have ever had.” Before turning 22 I used to think it was a weird line, like how could 22 possibly be unenjoyable? Now I’m 22 in a pandemic going through a rough breakup and I can’t even see my friends nor work in my first workplace ever.

32. What is your weirdest dealbreaker? If they wanted only cats as pets. I can deal with a dog and a cat, I guess; but cats were never fond of me so I feel like I’d struggle with this situation lol.

43. Do you think it’s important to stay up to date with the news? Yeah, absolutely. I have the stomach for it lol, so I always monitor what’s happening locally and globally. Skipping the news from time to time is fine because I get how anxiety-inducing and depressing some events can be, but there’s a huge difference between ignoring the news for your mental health and being indifferent altogether. I’d immediately judge anyone who’s the latter, and would assume you are incredibly privileged.

44. What is the best present you could ever receive? My money refunded -____________- I had food delivered to my director, Bea’s house as a surprise earlier today, but apparently I ran into a scammer driver and the fucker drove away with the meal I had bought for Bea. I reported the driver and the situation, and thankfully the customer service rep of the food delivery app quickly responded and said they’d return the full amount I paid for; but I still haven’t received it.

Mean that UNIQ members have rules on themselves but the person that came to us, make everything won't matter anymore. Same with Lan Zhan, the man with 3.000s family rules that somehow just shatter on the floor when Wei Ying came.

Also, you do realizes that everytime Lan Zhan stares at Wei Ying, he looks like staring at the most beautiful painting in awe. That's it.

Yibo's part is so Lan Zhan. Lan Wangji that always came without expression and life only seems like straight line. This is Lan Zhan before Wei Ying came... and the best part it's Yibo's part😘😘

Wei Ying labeled as a very very bad person in the cultivation world. He is a monster. But Lan Zhan probably called him his monster. Wei Ying know his reputation as the bad guy, the monster that everyone want to kill. So him calling himself a bastard is a possible thing he would do. Also, Wei Ying actually trying to stop Lan Zhan to get involved on his shit. He know, he doesn't deserve Lan Zhan. The beauty, the perfect Hanguang Jun. Even after the reincarnation, Weiying still pushing him away :((

But he can't just really push Lan Zhan away. After all, he needs Lan Zhan so much to his side. He still feel he doesn't deserve Lan Zhan but in the end he's extremely grateful that he has Lan Zhan. Would never let Lan Zhan go.

As got7′s comeback approached rapidly, you could see Jinyoung becoming more and more of what could be considered a recluse. The only time he left the dorm is to practice and record, and the only time you saw his face was when he snapchatted you to keep your streak alive. You were honestly surprised he was putting that amount of effort, considering how important this comeback was for got7.

You had gotten used to your boyfriend being non existent in the weeks leading up to comebacks, and usually you embraced it knowing it was his career, what he wanted to do more than anything. Knowing this, you never pushed him to choose between you and his job, but for some reason this comeback was really trying your patience. 

Maybe you were lonelier this time around, more stressed out. Maybe you were tired of coming in second best to music. Whatever the case was, you started getting easily irritated with his lack of replies to your affection.

After three days of nothing but a black screen in a snapchat from someone you called the love of your life, you decided to text one of the other boys. Your fingers typed quickly, hoping to get a response back from one of the youngest members. Your wish was quickly granted by Bambam, who’s picture ID suddenly filled the length of your phone screen. 

You answered the phone quickly, trying not to take up too much of the boy’s time. “Bammy! How are you guys doing these days?”

You saw his eyes crinkle as he let out small chuckle before he responded. “We’ve actually had a few days off, so I’m doing a lot better than I have been.”

Your mouth went dry at Bambam’s words, but you must’ve heard him wrong. There’s no way Jinyoung wouldn’t have told you that they had an off day, let alone days. You must’ve misunderstood. “Off days?” You responded.

Bambam nodded. “Yeah, they let us out of the basement for a few days to enjoy the nice weather. I’m surprised Jinyoung didn’t tell you…” His voice trailed off before giving you a sympathetic smile. You smiled weakly and tried to keep your emotions at bay. “Well I just wanted to check in Bam. I’ll let you go now.”

He shook his head before leaning into the camera. “Don’t kill Jinyoung. We need him to finish this album.” You let out a weak laugh and nodded. “I’ll do my best bammie.”

After you hung up, you pulled up your conversation with Jinyoung, and sent him a text telling him you were going to show up to the dorms. He didn’t reply, which shouldn’t have surprised you, but instead it fired up your adrenaline more. As you pulled up to the got7 dorms, so many scenarios ran through your head. You pushed them all aside as you walked up the stairs.

Your mind spaced out as you walked, clearly being lead by muscle memory and not much else in that moment. Before you knew it, you were stood face to face with the dorm front door. You knocked quickly, and soon enough Yugyeom was there greeting you. You pushed past him quickly, not bothering with a greeting. You had plenty of time to make up with Yugyeom for being rude later, right now you just had to find out what was happening with Jinyoung.

You walked straight to his room, twisting the doorknob gently pushing it open as quietly as you could. You saw Jinyoung laying on his bed, watching TV, his eyes fluttering open and closed. If you weren’t so upset, you would’ve commented on how run down and tired he looked, but now wasn’t the time for that.

You shut the door behind you, and you saw Jinyoung visibly flinch before turning to look at you over his shoulder, his eyes widening slightly before returning to their normal size. “Y/N, what’re you doing here?”

You rolled your eyes to yourself before walking closer to where he was laying down. You didn’t sit, because you didn’t want to be there too long, on the off chance that something bad happened between you two. When Jinyoung didn’t feel the weight shift on the bed he sat up to move closer to you. “Babe, what’s the matter?”

You scoffed, and before you could stop it from happening, an annoyed smile graced your face. “What’s the matter? Jinyoung, you don’t text me for days, and then I find out you’ve been off for a few days? Why didn’t you tell me..”

He watched how you moved carefully, always analyzing your emotions through your subtle gestures. He could tell you weren’t mad, but it was worse than you being mad at him. He would rather you be mad than you feel whatever you were feeling right then.

“I didn’t tell you because I’ve been so cranky lately. I haven’t gotten nearly enough sleep in weeks, and I didn’t want to upset you.” You frowned at his statement.

“Jinyoung, spare me. You’ve contacted me when you were in worse moods. We’ve been screaming and spitting at each other before, and you still texted me ten minutes later. This is different, and I don’t know why it is, so I would appreciate it if you could just tell me.” You ended your sentence definitively, hoping he would just come out and say it.

Jinyoung looked down to his hands, hoping he could find the write words to say. As he opened his mouth to speak, he looked back up at you, hoping to find the warmth he loved in your eyes. He was taken aback when he saw how dimmed it was, but he surged forward anyways.

“I don’t feel like..” He trailed off, looking back down. You stood frozen in place, afraid to move in case it made him bottle back up his words, but wanting nothing more than to feel your fingers carding through his hair calming him down. As if he could read your thoughts, he reached out and brought one of your hands to his hair, effectively pulling you between his legs before wrapping his arms around your waist and burying his face into your stomach.

His speech was muffled as he continued, but you heard him as clear as day. “I don’t feel like I’m good enough for you anymore. I don’t feel confident in myself, my abilities. I don’t feel like I make you happy..” 

As he trailed off again, you felt him burrow further into the material of your shirt, inhaling your perfume trying to memorize the sweet notes. You played with his hair gently as you let the information soak into your brain before replying.

“Jinyoungie..” You move your hand to his cheek to pull his face up to look him in the eyes. “Darling, you’re the most important person in my life. Because of this fact, you’ll always be enough for me. You make me so unbelievably happy, to the point of insanity sometimes.” You felt him bite back a laugh when you said that, and you smiled gently.

“You’re abilities are so special, you are so special. And you’re so special to me, so please don’t ever think you aren’t enough for me ok? You’re enough for everyone, and I’ll prove it to you one day.” 

You pulled him off the bed by his arm gently, wrapping your arms tightly around him. You stayed entangled in his hug for a few minutes before you both let go, moving to sit on the edge of his bed. He followed behind you quickly, pulling you to lay down as he flopped onto his mattress.

He turned on his side to admire your features, and you eyed him from your peripheral vision. You were both quiet for a few minutes before he finally dared to utter a single sentence. If there had been any noise you would’ve missed it, but thankfully the words were able to grace your ears.

“Thank you for listening, because you’re the most important person in my life too.”

WHAT’S A SOUND YOU HATE + SOUND YOU LOVE? I hate dogs barking, babies/kids crying, people shouting, sports or news playing on someone else’s loud TV, motorbikes, drilling and sudden crashes/bangs. But the worst of the worst: people being sick (even actors faking it). Guaranteed panic attack trigger.

I love the sound of the rain, the sea and water in general, the wind whistling around my blinds or in the trees, cats purring, beautiful voices, birdsong, footfalls in the snow and the kettle boiling.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS? I really love ghost stories, spoopy stuff, horror/fantasy fiction and paranormal reality shows, and have been since I was a kid. My family on my mother’s side has some pretty interesting supernatural stories to tell, usually re: precognition/telepathy/finding lost objects. So I somewhat believe that there is some kind of soul/psychic force in us, but I don’t necessarily believe in ghosts, at least not the way they’re presented in fiction.

HOW ABOUT ALIENS? I believe there’s other life-forms in the universe, but not that any of them are So Super Advanced that they have figured out a way to come and visit us.

DO YOU DRIVE? No, around the age where I should have been learning I had very bad panic attacks which made it absolutely impossible for me to learn. I would still like to learn someday but it’s incredibly expensive and I’m not sure I’d make a good driver anyhow.

WHAT WAS THE LAST BOOK YOU READ? Peter Pan. I’d never read it before and found it bizarre and kind of creepy. Which I think is what Barry was going for.

DO YOU LIKE THE SMELL OF GASOLINE? No, it’s one of those smells that make me feel sick.

WHAT WAS THE LAST MOVIE YOU SAW? The Conjuring. Which may or may not be why I really want to write a Black Sails haunted horror AU. But lbr I have a lot of stuff to work on already. XD

WHAT’S THE WORST INJURY YOU’VE EVER HAD? When I was twelve I smashed a glass windowpane and got a large cut in my elbow and one on my thigh. I got ten stitches and spent about a month with my arm sticking straight out in a splint. Of course, it was my writing arm. Other than that, I burned myself  pretty nastily on an oven resistance when I was about 10 years old - I remember the skin turned dark grey. I don’t think I saw a doctor for it, but I still have a scar.

DO YOU HAVE ANY OBSESSIONS RIGHT NOW? I always have obsessions, it’s what fuels my imagination (and keeps it busy so I don’t obsess about scary things). It’s usually shows, books or collections. I’ve slightly managed to curb my tea obsession (I have a huge stash to drink my way through) but Black Sails? Hoo boy that’s still going strong.

DO YOU TEND TO HOLD GRUDGES AGAINST PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE YOU WRONG? I don’t actively hold grudges, I just get the hell away from the person and build a higher and higher ivory tower to avoid getting hurt by people and their bullshit -- unfortunately it doesn’t make socialising particularly easy. XD

What was the last thing you threw at someone? A piece of meat for my dog to run for. Well, walk and sniff around for. He’s an old guy and doesn’t run anymore unless we’re taking him out for a walk. Do you follow recipes? I always certainly have to, since I don’t have any one dish memorized. I’ll start off with a collection of recipes for sure, but I’m hopeful that I’ll be at least a decent cook over the next few years. Where's the last place you had an itch? The area behind my knee.

Do you look people in the eye when you talk to them? It’s always important to have eye contact to show you’re paying attention so yeah. But I know it can get uncomfortable for most people at some point – and me – so I’ll give my eyes a break and look at their forehead, their nose, the space between their eyes, etc. When you look into someone's eyes, can you see their pain? Uh no, I don’t look that intensely lmao. And even then, I’ve learned over the years that most people are very good in hiding or playing off their true emotions that even if I try to find something off, I’ll likely turn up with nothing.

When was the last time you sneezed? Midnight today. How do you act under pressure? It will depend on how much there is to do and how much time there is left. I don’t have one permanent behavior for every time I feel pressured, which is pretty often. Who did you last say "I love you" to? My dog. Do you ever call people just to hear the sound of their voice? Yes, back when everything was normal I’d sometimes call my girlfriend just to drop by and say hi, and also because our schools are a little far apart and I’ll miss her in the middle of the day. School usually stresses her out so I do that as a pick-me-up for her. When was the last time you used a glue stick? January maybe? Our profs always ask us to submit index cards with our contact details and a 1x1 photo at the start of the semester, so there’s a good chance I asked to borrow glue from someone to paste my photo onto the card. What was the last startling noise you heard? Some dipshit on my Twitter feed decided it was good fun to share a jumpscare disguised as an innocent, cute video at 3 AM. I was mad about it then and I’m still mad as hell about it now lol. Do you ever look back at your yearbooks? I did this a lot as a kid. Idk why, I found it interesting to get to know the people in my school and read their write-ups I guess. I stopped looking back on them precisely because I did it too much when I was younger. Do you ever want to be prom queen/king? No. I did not give a shit about prom at all. I really would’ve happily skipped out on it but my school is a complete killjoy and made both attendance and bringing a date mandatory for everyone. No stags, can you believe it? When my sister and I were kids we bickered a lot, and in one of our fights I thought it’d be funny to doodle on her kinder portrait. She didn’t think so and she started wailing - just in time, I heard my mom coming home and I had to think fast so my sister a) stopped crying and b) wouldn’t tell on me. So I did the stupidest thing and also doodled on my own prep portrait to make her feel better. She calmed down and my mom never found out. When was the last time you made dinner? I *helped* my dad make dinner a few months ago. I haven’t completed a meal myself. Do you have any special plans coming up? They’re gonna be mellowing down the lockdown rules in my province by the 15th and I’m really hoping to see Gabie soon. There are courses on Turkish culture, global gastronomy, and they also had past courses on ‘Diversity on Perspectives on Peace and Conflict,’ ‘Cultures of Disasters,’ and ‘Cultures and their Global Entanglements.’ They all sound right up my alley and am disappointed no one told me sooner. Do you hold on to your dreams? Some of them, the ones I know I have a chance of attaining. Obviously I’ve had to let some go, like wanting to go to the moon or becoming a firefighter. cutting my finger open when I popped and broke a glass while shoving my hand into it to wash it. and it doesnt count as a injury necessarily but when my ear lifted off the side of my head swollen bc of a badly infected cartilage piercing, the doctor cut into my ear to dig the puss out assuming the numbing meds were enough. they were not, I felt everything for like 30 secs before I said something and almost passed out lmao

playing the urbz, sims in the city for GBA, resident evil outbreak, the sims 1 for pc, and super mario sunshine (all stuff I played or watched ppl play as a kid)

when i was 14 my friends thought it was a good idea to tackle me. no idea why. so they did and i got my right knee sprained. the first day was chill but the second one i couldn’t walk and the pain made me cry like a baby. so i went to the hospital and had to use crutches for 2 weeks and this was all just a few days before my birthday. the worst part? the doctor was cute and he saw my not very nice underwear and my unshaved hairly legs smh :/
