One thing you might not realise right away when you start to make money out of your passion, is that you will have to find a new hobby. You need to have something to do in your life which is completly for you and doesn't put pressure onto yourself. Something you can spend 3months on, stop that project for 3 other months, and then go back to it for 2 other months. Because your passion, it's not this anymore. You absolutely need to find a no-pressure activity.

when painting stopped being just a hobby, I didn't realised straight away that everything I was doing in life had a purpose, and it ate me, truly. Then I picked up guitar and then crochet, and it hit me that this kind of activities where vital. I haven't pick up my crochet in 2 weeks, it's okay! The only people waiting for it to be done are me and my kind friends who want to see it finish. But there is no consequences to me never finishing it, and this is what matters here.

a big lesson for me was learning that most things are not as fragile as I’d believed. missing a class, or turning in a bad assignment, won’t instantly destroy your professor’s opinion of you. accidentally saying something harsh won’t make your friend want to end the friendship. it takes work to repair these things - it takes effort and research and sometimes a sincere apology - but you can do that because they’re not irreparably broken. what you’ve worked to build, in academia and in relationships and in life, is stronger and more enduring that your mind may teach you to believe. don’t let imagined fragility lead you to giving up
