Such a good episode! Not plot-heavy, just a silly episode. I'll gladly take it as my late birthday present. And it's great to have Swag back, kinda was half-expecting Chris to just pop out.

I've said this once and I'll say it again: I wouldn't mind if the rest of the year is just filled with goofy episodes. After all, we just came from WOTFI and we do need a bit of a break so the Team could work on the next arc. (From the looks of things, we might get goop!4 *cough cough*)

Loved the bits of animation and Mario's expressions as always.

Now, I know there is some talk about the SMG4 Crew/Mario Does Things being on hiatus and merging with the Saturday videos. If you can even call it that. Personally, I don't mind it. I completely understand if doing 2 episodes per week is a lot for the Team to handle, though I do wish they would give an explanation for it. I think the best solution would be for the Team making an announcement of the change, the reasons behind it, and how it may be different from the regular Saturday episodes. Also make it clear that "hey, the title says this so it doesn't impact the main storyline".

Anyway, it has been overall a pretty funny episode and I quite enjoyed it! Now, if you excuse me, I'm gonna cry my eyes out watching the rest of Arcane Act 3 and bring that angst to the next episode concept :)

Scene based comics vs character arc comics are always so interesting because the latter usually has a lot of time elapsing. Aldiirn and Gale pulling out their "oh this a person I'll know for a tenday tops" routine melding into working party members and then finally Gale pushing into some outer ring of trust is great to see. To be clear, I think Gale is the one with character growth here. I am terrified how easily Aldiirn is able to navigate the world via lying. (I really underestimated him.) Gale doesn't navigate the situation with grace, but it's interesting how his raw interest in food manages to encourage him to slowly whittle down Aldiirn's escape routes. If that sounded a bit violent- it is! I get so much anxiety looking at Aldiirn trying to decide if the food is poisoned. Gale doesn't exist to help Aldiirn move forward, of course so it makes sense that his motivation isn't purely being a good person towards (1) half-drow. It's a real cultural clash as well! I'm not the first person to suggest Gale reads Greek, but the hospitality angle can be argued so beautifully here. Yes, Aldiirn has reasons to not eat. But as much as I toss into his side of things (and would 100% be on his team if he JUST laid down a boundary) it's obvious how much the shifting lies hurt Gale to his core. Just as there are strict rules about being a good host, there are strict rules about being a good guest. And the 2nd strongest emotional response I have is to Aldiirn omitting he's vegetarian. I started this comic being excited that Aldiirn deserves someone he trusts (true) to cook for him. But I'd say it's impressive how that became like....such a secondary thing to his frankly concerning choices on interpersonal fronts.

I really look forward to seeing how the metaphorical chickens coming on to roost on the lying front will happen.

Aaaa I’ve been working on this 2-3 months and so glad to have it done! I was starting to lose confidence in the middle, that it wasn’t going anywhere, but I’m very satisfied seeing it all together and the progression of the camp.

Aldiirn grew up in poison-happy drow society and is incredibly skittish about accepting food from others, and here’s poor Gale trying to prove he can be useful to the party as their cook and has to piece together what he’s up against night by night. Aldiirn is used to evading uncomfortable things non-confrontationally, which works fine when his job has him moving place to place but not when he’s stuck with the same group of strangers long-term. I like to think that since Mystra and Eilistraee are so close, and Eilistraee’s biggest temple is in Waterdeep, that Gale knows -just- enough to figure out Aldiirn’s deal with food and the code word to show it’s safe.

I assume this is in reference to the "what if Ezra was around for the rest of the rebellion stuff"? Here's some further thoughts on how he would fit in with the OT trio :]

Han and Ezra get on each others nerves, being around each other is a constant ego measuring contest. Han brings out Ezra’s cocky side and they like to sound off against each other, but it’s mostly all banter and neither of them are ever seriously ticked off by each other. In fact, they like to play sabacc and other card games together whenever it’s just them kicking around base.

Leia and Ezra are besties ofc, I like to think they would’ve been pen pals throughout most of Rebels, and now they’re back in person face to face they spend a lot of time together just chatting. I like to think as teenagers they often confided in each other about the difficulties they faced in their respective roles in the rebellion, and they continue to be emotional rocks for each other later on. They also have a pretty banter filled relationship but it’s less vulgar than it is with Han.

As for Luke and Ezra… we’ll you know me, I’m on that skybridger bullshit haha. No notes there.

As a quad they all get along pretty great. Ezra brings a little silliness to the vibe, as well as a fair bit of emotional wisdom.

I know the joke is that Ghost Trick fans can't tell you why to play it, just that you should, but here's some spoiler-free reasons to play it:

It's an incredible puzzle game. The puzzles are basically Rube-Goldberg machines, where you manipulate objects in a series to effect change in the overall situation. Do you like complex mechanisms and the concept of the butterfly effect? Play this.

The basic gameplay: you are a ghost. You have the ability to posses and manipulate objects, and move from object to object. Someone bas died. You can go to four minutes before their death to change their fate using your Rube Goldberg powers. Also! The puzzles do a great job of ramping you up in difficulty and teaching you the gameplay, but wow do they get HARD in late game. You can replay any puzzle, and also rewind time as you wish. You can't lock yourself out of things by doing it wrong, since you can redo.

The story is SO GOOD. There's a reason why everyone tells you as little as possible -- it's a compelling mystery that sucks you in. The basic idea: you are dead. You need to figure out who you are and who killed you. This spins out into a tale of political intrigue.

It's by Shu Takumi, the creator of Ace Attorney. It has very similar vibes, in that it's absolutely bonkers characters and situations but also WILL make you cry once it's all revealed. Great mix of serious and humorous tones. Seriously, someone dies when a giant roast chicken statue falls on them and the root cause is because of [serious political events]

The aesthetics. Great music, great character design, have you SEEN what the game looks like? Really good use of color and stylization. Character animations are often hilarious.

Missile is there. You WILL love bestest boy. Don't google him. Just trust.

a/n: here's part 1 to my influencer!reader fic based on the poll i posted a few days ago. i took a few days to write out the first few parts to this storyline, so i shall see yall in a few days <3

Sitting in the studio, you shuffle through the day's notes as you wait for Taylor, your partner and co-host, to get ready. You glance around at the familiar setup: soundproof walls, the big red “ON AIR” sign, and Taylor’s mic with her distinctive bright blue pop filter across from you. The Hot Take has come a long way since you and Taylor first started recording episodes in a makeshift studio in your apartment.

Finally, Taylor takes her seat, grinning like she’s got a secret. You recognize that glint in her eye; it’s the same look she gives you right before she drops a bombshell on air. You chuckle, half expecting her to share some wild celebrity tidbit or throw in an off-the-cuff comment that’ll leave fans buzzing.

“All right, ready to kick things off?” she asks, sliding her headphones on. You nod, pressing record, and the familiar flow of the episode begins.

The conversation starts with your typical lineup of the week’s big pop culture and sports events. You trade opinions on a recent basketball draft, discuss an unexpected celebrity breakup, and riff on a few new album releases. Fans love the way you and Taylor can pivot from debating sports stats to analyzing the latest music trends—all with a laid-back vibe that feels like a natural conversation between friends.

As you move toward wrapping up, Taylor flashes you a mischievous smile, one that promises she’s about to shake things up. Before you can question her, she clears her throat, leaning close to the mic with a conspiratorial whisper.

“Of course! It’s relevant to sports, I promise.” She laughs, her voice dipping into an almost-reverent tone. “Because it’s Paige Bueckers.”

There’s a beat where you try to process that. Paige Bueckers—a name practically synonymous with college basketball greatness, a player with such raw talent and drive that her highlight reels are legend. Of course, Paige has the kind of skill and flair on the court that would make her anyone’s “celebrity crush.”

Without thinking, you roll your eyes and let out a laugh. “Oh, Paige Bueckers? Come on, Tay. Isn’t she a bit…overrated?”

The words escape before you have time to reconsider, and you catch Taylor’s jaw dropping in mock horror, her hand flying to her mouth. Her eyes go wide, as if you’ve just blasphemed on live radio.

“Overrated?” she exclaims, her voice full of exaggerated shock. “Y/N, you’ve officially crossed into hot-take territory. Are you serious?”

You shrug, leaning back in your chair as you play it off. “I mean, yeah, she’s good. She’s really good. But let’s be real—people act like she’s already the GOAT, and she’s, what, twenty-three? I think she’s talented, sure, but maybe the hype’s a little…excessive?”

Taylor shakes her head, laughing as she turns back to the camera, knowing your listeners will eat this up. “Listeners, you heard it here first—Y/N thinks Paige Bueckers is overrated. Prepare for the inevitable Twitter meltdown!”

You chuckle, figuring it’s all in good fun. You and Taylor are known for your candid takes; it’s what fans love most about the show. This will be just another talking point, something people can debate online. You wrap up the episode, signing off with your usual mix of humor and playful barbs, and end the recording.

Curious, you start scrolling through the replies. A lot of fans are indignant, passionately defending Paige’s talent and listing her stats, achievements, and highlights as if you’ve personally insulted them.

“Overrated? Y/N clearly hasn’t seen a game.” “She’s one of the best of her generation—how can you not see that?” “Bet Y/N wouldn’t last five minutes trying to guard her.”

Rita brings an incandescence to roles that's impossible to replicate, and was truly a great actress in that she could switch from herself—shy Margarita—into a bold and glamorous femme fatale so convincingly everyone fell in love with her as Gilda. She's my favorite movie star, and I think she was a beautiful human through and through—Rita, gorgeous and real and shining bright.
