Remember what Best Jeanist said about your hero name? How it should be like a promise, or your vow as a hero is something like that?
... If Katsuki just made Kacchan his hero name to the world....
#bakudeku#cus ok gemg fynamight is clearly a refernce to all might#and how he wants to surpass am#but also honor him#him calling himself Kacchan in front of god and everyone#might make it stick as a hero name#and kacchan is basically all of izukus affection for him#its izukus refusal to ever give up on him#its izuku seeing him as his personal hero even before am#and if katsuki calls himself Kacchan#and thats supposed to be a WISH or a VOW#he wants to be that person for Izuku#he wants to remain that pwrson for Izuku#and its something he doesnt have to devote a lot of thought to#bc he took a while for gemgd#but on the battlefield he just yells out that hes kacchan#bnha spoilers#bakugou katsuki#idk if i have it right but...#its just kind of interesting

HNNNM HI IF YOURE STILL DOING THE AU THING I NEED MORE FROM THE AU WHERE ONE FOR ALL MAKES IZUKU AND ALL MIGHT HEAR EACH LTHERS THOUGHTS PLEASE AND THANK YOU
reference to this post: This is a test designed to provoke an emotional response. — I saw an idea and wanted to share it with you.... (tumblr.com)
The hardest part at first is turning the thought sharing off. They figure out how pretty quick, but they always seem to have just one more question or comment. Izuku spends much of the long bus ride to the training camp 'talking' to All Might, often trying to trick him into thinking info about it. Particularly, if he's going to show up. All Might finally tells him that the trip is supposed to be a fun time with his friends, and he should spend time with them.
Communication stays quiet for most of the camp. Standard good mornings and goodnights, what's the plan for today, how was it? Izuku doesn't notice much while training, but in the calm moments of meals and getting ready for bed, he realizes he misses the second voice in his head. He starts mentioning more inconsequential things, like a weird insult Kacchan yelled or when Aoyama freaked out about dirt on his nice shirt, just so he has an excuse to hear All Might again. He only gets a substantial answer when he tells All might about Kouta, the kid who hates heroes. What should I say to convince him otherwise, he asks. You don't have to say anything, his mentor tells him. Not everyone is going to feel the same way you do about things. But he seems so lonely. So do you, the way you'd rather think at me than talk to your friends in front of you. Izuku is the one who cuts communications short that night.
The attack on the training camp is both better and worse. Izuku is able to communicate they're in trouble faster so heroes arrive to help faster, but in the meantime, All Might's panic comes through so strong, Izuku can feel it himself, which causes him to stumble fighting Muscular. Miles away, All Might collapses to the ground screaming as he feels the echo of his successor's spine snap.
There is something bad about the mind of someone in a coma. Nothing particularly nauseating or disturbing, but thoughts mesh and flow over top of one another like mixed up paint in a way that All Might immediately registers as wrong every time he tries. But he does try. To be comforting. Encouraging. Recovery will be long, but they'll get through it together. He repeats the words he overhears Mrs. Midoriya whisper to her son, thinking maybe he will get through easier. Bried moments of lucidity always come when All Might isn't in the room, and every time, he feels a painful tug towards he boy he can never move fast enough to rectify. The last time, before All Might heads out to rescue the kidnapped students, he leaves Izuku with the promise that he loves him, and he'll always be proud of him, before he shuts down his mind.
On the battlefield against One for All, true form revealed, All Might feels something touch the inside of his mind, like a cat scratching at the door to be let in. He makes the mistake of opening up a little. Izuku is horrified, asking him what happened and where he is. All Might tries to push him back out, if only to spare him the agony All for One is putting him through. Distracted, he takes another big hit, which echoes back and forth between him and Izuku. He tells his boy point blank that he doesn't want him to feel him die. Izuku counters that he shouldn't die at all, and the statement comes with enough anguish to draw out tears of his own. He's done for anyway, so he shifts gears to trying to comfort Izuku through the ordeal. He whispers softly, picturing himself at Izuku's bedside brushing his hair with his hands. And there's the tug again. The distance that needs to be closed. And suddenly, All Might remembers that distance. The gouged-out part of his soul where Nana used to dwell. He doesn't fear death because he's felt it before. But Izuku hasn't. And he won't any time soon. With the last of his strength, All Might punches All for One into the dirt, until fragments of his skull stab his fist.

BNHA S2 EP24 - Katsuki Bakugou: Origin
Or final exam battle: Deku/Kacchan vs. All Might.
*takes a deep breath* I have SO many fucking emotions when it comes to this episode. Honestly, I'm trying hard not to cry like the emo bitch I am right now lol Fuck... Okay. 😑 This post is going to be fucking long and all over the place and I apologize in advance.
Let me actually begin with the ending of ep23 where we have both Deku & Kacchan's voicing the preview and that fucker talks over Deku and shit, yelling "PLUS ULTRAAAA" and you hear Deku little "Traaa?" at the end, hkdmqmmsd that's so fucking funny.
Now for the real shit. Man rewatching that fight after being caught up on both s6 and the scans? Yeah, my heart can't take that stuff...😫
All Might is our top bkdk shipper, man. Apart from Aizawa, he's probably the only other adult really seeing what the relationship between Izuku and Katsuki can truly become (gotta love Aizawa for being so observant and forcing them to team up btw). That fight against AM is truly the first big step in mending their broken relationship, eh.
(my mind's a fucking whirlwind and I'm trying hard to be coherent, bear with me)
I'm thinking of something as stupid as this but... look at the distance between them here - and compare it to how it's going to be after s6 and Kats' apology? That dude has grown so fucking much and it shows even in his placement next to Izuku lmao *damn*
We start that ep with Kats' POV and all his anger and frustration towards Deku making progress right? He's set on winning that shit on his own, refusing to cooperate and telling Deku to not follow him (yeah my dude we know you'd die if the nerd didn't follow you anymore). All in all, it's a freaking bad start when facing All Might, we even have that scene where he's yelling at Deku and Deku is yelling back "STOP YELLING! It's because you do that we can never have a normal conversation!" and boy... 😫
Since we all know Katsuki's an overthinker (how he's been bottling shit up after 'ending All Might's career?) and that he is obsessed with the nerd, he's probably been thinking about this too, "If I start yelling we won't be able to talk" so he actually starts the convo softly during Deku vs Kacchan part2, like hello?!
Ahem. Anyways, what's also interesting is that moment where they knock each other out because they aren't working together at all. Katsuki is only thinking of charging to AM to defeat him and win while Izuku is literally too intimidated by his idol and wants to run away. They don't even think about each other and what the other is planning to do, hence the clashing. It's so great to actually see this because it brings out their cooperation (later in the episode but also in the whole series) and how they're really a fucking 'wonder duo' when they do work together. Once the relationship is on the way to being mended and they start seeing each other as rivals (see movie 2 Heroes Rising for instance), we actually see how much they're in synch, they don't even have to fucking talk to one another to understand what the other is thinking or planning next and it's just so fucking amazing man... Like really, that connection they have on the battlefield is ridiculous.🧡💚
(sorry the fucking screen cap is hilarious lmao it's like they're lining up in the air to dance or something omfg I'm sorry rlekrjemzrmzer)
Moving on to when Deku is stuck under a fence cuz AM is an asshole djdmmds he literally just fucking broke Kats' ribs or something, the dude is puking, like what the hell...
Anyways we got Deku's flashbacks of their childhood and him fawning over Kacchan. "I always admired you for that [winning]" - and I don't know, but have you guys noticed how Izuku's memories are always about Kacchan and his admiration for him, like he'd be following him around spying on him, just watching him with stars in his eyes the whole fucking time - THIS is what's in Izuku's mind everytime he thinks of their childhood and at the opposite end what do we have? Katsuki hung on the damn river scene OVER AND OVER AGAIN. The contrasts is crazy and it holds so much meaning aaaah 😖🧡💚 I love Hori so much for this, man.
We move to Izuku punching Kacchan in the face to save his ass and run away in an alley, literally hopping like a bunny (pyon pyon) and they have a sorta normal convo (yeah Kats is still yelling and exploding a wall but eh I call that progress). Then they face AM again and tadaaaaa we have another scene of Katsuki's crying face and WHY? Because he's fucking frustrated! When I tell you guys that dude only cries like this when he's frustrated and only in front of Deku and AM (for the record, that's up till he's accepting all of his feelings for Izu and Izu's love for him in the latest scans... *cries thinking of it*)
I think that's also when he's slowly but surely starting to accept that yeah he's eventually going to have to cooperate with Deku, not just for this fight but in the future too. Right now it's still too raw, his inferiority complex is still too present and yeah... but we'll get there, won't we? 🧡
Anyways, Katsuki Bakugou's Physical strength appreciation moment because... Fuck, even Izuku is astonished by the weight and strength of that dude's gauntlet and Kacchan is moving around and blasting that shit like it's a piece of cake, like what?!?! 😲🔥 Hot.
(our baby is so cute and hot with his bf's gauntlet I swear 💚)
Also this episode is literally the introduction of "Win to Save" vs "Save to Win" in a way, because it focuses on Katsuki's 'Origin'. Like I said, that episode is so fucking important for Deku vs Kacchan pt2 *sigh*
Win to save 🧡
Save to win 💚
There are still so many things I wanna say about this ep but damn it's already way too long as is it lmao Let me just end with how AM really doesn't give a shit about injuring his students hdmqmdlq the way he fucking pushed himself to Deku and broke his fucking back? Like damn man, any normal dude could have died of just that lol
All Might ending this post with this 👇🏼💚🧡
Now let me go cry my heart out cuz this episode fucked me up
Bonus: I forgot to add my fav scene hdlkdezmdeoe "I'm gonna send you flying!"

Delinquents (Shouto Todoroki x Reader)
Summary: (Reader is Katsuki Bakugou’s long-haired twin sister) Endeavor just always has a stick up his ass, especially when it came to you ‘delinquents’ and his son having fun during your free time. You just want to catch a concert while you’re on standby but of course, Shouto’s dear old dad won’t let you. So, what’s a boy with some serious daddy issues to do?
Word count: 9,899 | AO3 link: Delinquents (Shouto Todoroki x Reader)
---
It was a long day already and a longer night as you, Endeavor, Shouto Todoroki, Izuku Midoriya and your foul-mouthed twin had finally settled all your things into your hotel rooms. This entire trip to a new mission was already much harder than it had to be. Between your brother Katsuki fighting anyone and everyone, Deku trying to keep the peace, and Todoroki always bickering with Endeavor, you were quite literally sick of everyone’s bullshit. As much as you would have rather blasted a villain straight to hell with an explosive snap of your fingers, you knew trips with Endeavor as part of your hero work were always like this. Sometimes the plane flights were worse than fighting on a battlefield, you thought, and some things never quite changed since the first year of school. It was already the third year, the last year, but the smallest part of you enjoyed the comfort you had in the familiarity of it all. You knew you wouldn’t change a thing.
…Well, except that Shouto’s dad always had a stupid stick up his ass no matter what the sittuation.
“Oh, come on!” You huffed at Endeavor, matching his stride as best as you could down the large hallway, “we’re all on stand-by, you said it yourself! It’s ten at night!”
“And if you are needed somewhere?” He barely glanced down at you, avoiding the scowl in your red-hot glare, “then what? A villain can get loose. Someone can get hurt.”
“Didn’t you just say, just this morning at the airport, that all of us are still delinquents and you were only interested in bringing your son for this?” You waved your hand behind you towards the young man with split white and crimson hair, “that’s the same damned thing you always say, so maybe let the extras have some fun the night we land. Otherwise, we’re all just gonna hang out in someone’s room till late and then go to bed.”
From the corner of your eye you saw Shouto catch up to you, followed by Deku, then Katsuki, one after another like ducklings eager to join the commotion.
“She’s right, dad.”
“H-hey, Sacchan, can’t you go to another concert some other day? Maybe let’s all just-“
“-No, moron, they’re playing out here on a tour! Didn’t you fucking hear her yapping Icy-Hot’s ear off about it on the plane?”
“Stop it, Kacchan!” You yelled past the boys on your right, leaning forward to match the crimson glare your brother shot you, “I’m trying to make a point here, so be quiet for a sec!”
“Oh, I have to be quiet now?!” He screamed over you, slapping a hand onto his chest as he too now matched your posture, “I couldn’t get a minute of ‘quiet’ on that damn flight between you two blabbering in front of me the entire time and then Deku practically interviewing the old man behind us!”
Endeavor sighed quite loudly over your brother’s insult but didn’t really bother with him, much like everyone else who was used to Katsuki’s personality.
“We weren’t even next to you, Bakugo,” Shouto said matter-of-factly, zipping down his hoodie, “I don’t think Sacchan and I were being loud at all. Besides, you wanted to sit by yourself, remember?”
“Because you refused to sit next to your old ass dad as usual so all the seating arrangements got fucked up!” Your idiot shoved Deku aside to switch spots with him, coming up to Shouto.
“Watch it, Kacchan! Jeez, talk about aggressive-“
“-Okay,” the tallest between the three young men continued, his mismatched eyes locked on the path ahead of him, “it was either that or you’d be sitting next to my old man or Midoriya-“
“ORRRR,” he interjected, much to your annoyance, his hand flying out past Shouto to gesture at you, “I could have, you know, sat next to the brat I shared a fucking womb with seventeen years ago!”
“Why?!” You smacked his hand down, “so you can just blast your music in your ears and completely ignore me the whole time? As if that’s Todoroki’s fault. I’m the one who asked him to sit with me.”
“You ALWAYS do!” He smacked himself on the forehead, shouting to the high heavens, “every time you idiots drag me to a movie, to a dinner, whenever we catch a plane, on the bus, you name it and you guys are fucking sitting there together in your own stupid little bubble!”
“Err, hey, Kacchan?” Your green-haired childhood friend bumped his head forward, “remember when Sacchan transfered to Yuuei after the League of Villains infiltrated the school? You didn’t talk to her for four months because you thought she just wanted to be a hero just to protect you, so you ignored her until after you got kidnapped. Todoroki was the first person who talked to her because every time I tried to hang out with her, you’d threaten to kill me. So…It’s kind of your own doing, y’know…”
Before your brother could make an attempt at arguing that one, you caught a glimpse of him opening his mouth wide to shout, but nothing came out.
“He’s right,” Shouto shrugged lightly, “you made it very clear to Midoriya that you didn’t want him anywhere near your sister. In fact, I remember you telling him you’d blast his head off if he thought he could talk to her just because you all grew up together as children. So, I was the first person who talked to her the first day of school. We bonded over controlling male figures in our lives.”
You wanted to cackle at the glare no one but you noticed Shouto direct at his father on your left. He was so, so petty and you openly loved it.
“God forbid we make friends with people,” you rolled your eyes and smiled at Shouto, egging both his father and your twin on, “right, Todoroki?”
“Right, we’re in a completely different league than they are, isn’t that what you used to call it, old man?” He spat out, “at least the twins were allowed to play with each other as kids; being an only child is only lonely when you actually have siblings.”
“Yikes!”
“…Shouto,” Endeavor said almost painfully, “is that really necessary right now? We’ve moved past-“
“It is,” he glared in all seriousness, “you’re being needlessly controlling as per usual. It’s just a concert and it’s not even far from this hotel. Let her go.”
Your heart rose into your throat at the thought of catching the concert tonight and your eyes beamed with glee, despite your attempt to conceal it.
“I can’t do that and you know it,” the man averted his gaze, “I already said you kids could go to the arcade downstairs and eat in any of the restaurants if you’re hungry. I need you all to stay close to me if something happens suddenly. Especially at night.”
“Then go with us.”
“Absolutely not, Shouto.”
“Then let her go.”
“You’d let a young lady wander around at night by herself?”
“Are you kidding me??” Shouto huffed angrily, “you’re so damn sexist. She’s insanely strong and you know that by now.”
There was something you and Endeavor mutually understood that Shouto did not, and you didn’t want to say it.
“That’s not it,” Endeavor shook his head, rubbing the back of his neck, “I don’t doubt her strength. I doubt the intentions of young men seeing a young woman by herself in a place like that.”
“He’s saying there could be creepy guys, Tododoki,” you avoided anyone’s looks, too embarrassed to explain, though you did anyway, “it’s the same reason my idiot brother is a helicopter.”
“Shut the fuck-“
“It’s true,” you spoke over him, finally mustering the courage to meet Shouto’s curious stare, “some guys are real creeps. Your dad thinks I might get preyed upon by myself…He doesn’t think I’m smart enough to know how to be careful. After all, it’s not like I’ve been a girl my entire life or anything, growing up being taught what kind of sick shit people do.”
“Is it your mission in life to be such a disrespectful brat, Bakugou?” Endeavor spat.
Both you and your brother scoffed at him simultaneously, “always, if it’s you!”
You both knew damn well he was only addressing you, but of course Endeavor just needed a friendly reminder that you only went by your nickname; especially if your brother was with you and thus neither of you could be addressed by last name alone to avoid confusion.
“So,” Shouto began, “then let me go with Sacchan.”
“You’re not going anywhere, and neither is she.”
“What, you’re gonna stop me?”
“Hah!” Katsuki cackled, “Jesus Christ, you two are both so damn bratty, talk about having youngest child syndrome!”
“Kacchan, don’t!” Midoriya finally spoke up, “quit adding fuel to the fire! Todoroki looks pretty serious-“
“NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, is going ANYWHERE!” Endeavor yelled at all of you, standing before you all in a flash. Everyone but Shouto flinched. “You are all to stay in the hotel as discussed. We can find a team-bonding excercise some other time.”
“This wasn’t-….” Shouto began, stopping himself as he rolled his heterochromatic eyes again and sighed, “nevermind. There’s no point. Okay, dad. We’ll stay in the hotel. On that note, I’m going to bed. Good night, guys.”
“Wha-…” Midoriya reached towards him as he walked down the hall by himself, “wait, it’s early, Todoroki! Don’t you wanna hang out for a bi- AHH! Hey!!”
Katsuki grabbed the freckled, wide-eyed boy by the back of his collar, dragging him into the same direction down the hall.
“You heard him, Deku,” he spat the name out, “it’s bed time, scrub.”
“But-“
“Just…Go to sleep, dumbass!” He hurried him along, pushing him into his room.
Katsuki was up to something.
“You too, brat,” he nodded in your direction, walking to his room on the other side of the hall, “night, loser. Don’t come bugging me if you can’t fall asleep tonight.”
That was…Weird? In sibling code you were just instructed to go to your room and not come looking for your brother, either.
That asshole. He was going to sneak out somewhere and you knew it. Fucking Katsuki, always a step ahead of you when it came to being clever around rules. You were, after all, the straight-laced one of the Bakugou twins as your teachers always mentioned amongst themselves. You envied him sometimes; different reasons than the ones he had for envying you.
“…Sure,” you side-eyed him, “good night, idiot. Love you.”
He slammed the door shut at you, which you knew was his own darling way of never saying it back. At least not verbally.
“I hope you understand-“
“I do, actually,” you whipped around to gawk up at Endeavor in defeat, seeing a trace of disappointment in his turquoise gaze, “I get it, Endeavor. I just think your reasoning is shitty. It’s the same reason behind my ma always shoving it into Katsuki’s head that his job as an older brother is to keep me safe despite us being born only two minutes apart. It’s the same reason my pops would spam my phone every time I went to the mall with my friends. It’s the same reason my brother never lets me out of his sight.”
“It’s not that we don’t trust you, it’s-“
“That you don’t trust other people,” you walked off, now headed to your own room, “got it. I know. Thanks, Endeavor. Sorry if I was disrespectful or whatever. G’night.”
And with that, you closed your door rather calmly and only plopped on your bed once you heard him walk away and go into his suite.
“Jeez…” you breathed out, grabbing a streak of your long blonde hair to play with, “if it’s not my family, it’s someone else’s. I mean, I get it, but…Damn. At least trust me, right? Why is it that I can be trusted fighting shitty villains, but I can’t be trusted going out alone for fun?”
Your phone vibrated. You got a text.
“Anyone can drug me, especially a villain,” you sat up, “but-…I wanna be a hero, so…It’s okay to take risks on a battlefield. I can be trusted in a fight; I can blow shit up left and right, and I can fight to the death while risking my life. Hah, I just can’t go out in a risky sittuation alone unless it’s for my career. Kinda ironic…”
BUZZ BUZZ
“Maybe I was being brat…” you continued to monologue, “I mean, we came out here for a mission…but then again, in any other sittuation, he would have said no, for the same annoying reason. Ugh!”
BUZZZZZZZZZZ. BUZZZZZZZZZZ.
“Go away, Kacchan,” you grabbed your phone from your pocket, hitting the end button before you checked your inbox. You only clicked on your brother’s name, subconsciously blind to the others.
Idiot<3: call me
Idiot<3: hey
Idiot<3: did u just fuckin hang up on me
Idiot<3: u stupid dumbass come to my room hurry the fuck up. Deku and i r gonna sneak out and check out the city and shit and we were gonna invite u and soy sauce face but ur both being babies and not picking up

You tapped across your keyboard after considering him momentarily.
You: its ok thanks tho
Idiot<3: ….

You: its ok im not in the mood anymore. Maybe tomorrow? :)
Idiot<3: if gramps doesn’t catch us tonight then ya
You: text me when u guys come back ok?
Idiot<3: ok mom :)
You laughed out loud at the last part, your brother being as sassy as ever, even over text.
…knock knock…
Sneaky as you expected was the knock at your door. Quiet, clearly so Endeavor couldn’t hear your brother and Deku as they silently made their way down the hall. You didn’t even hear them make their way over.
…knock knock knock…
“Coming,” you laughed quietly, hopping off the bed as you took a big sigh and opened up, “I already said no, Kacchan, you’re so anno- what the hell, Todoroki?!”
“Quiet.”
In the instant of seeing a pair of stoic turquoise and gray eyes peering down at you instead of irritated red ones, you were swiftly pushed back into your room with a palm against your shoulder.
“What-…” you lowered your voice, “Todoroki, w-what the hell, I thought you were my brother…”
“Sorry,” he let go of the doorknob after locking it, “I didn’t mean to startle you, you just weren’t answering my texts.”
You didn’t even realize Shouto had texted you.
“Oh, my bad,” you half-smiled once you took a breath and relaxed, “I didn’t-…Nevermind. What’s up? I thought you were gonna go to bed. Did you wanna hang out or something? Katsuki and Izuku snuck out just now, so…”
“Yeah,” it’s like he heard nothing past you asking him if he wanted to hang out, “go get dressed. You gotta hurry, though. Did you pack anything to go out with?”
“Besides this?” You pointed at yourself, still in street wear like everyone else, “um, my hero uniform, some pajamas…Uhhh, some more street clothes, and then my concert outfit. I-“
“Go put on whatever you wanted to wear for that concert.” He said urgently, nodding his head towards the suitcase by your bed behind you.
“Ehh?” You blushed, contorting your brows in confusion “it’s a metal band, remember? My outfit of choice isn’t exactly ‘appropriate’ to go anywhere else with.”
Shouto sighed with exasperation as he closed his eyes for a moment at the ground and pinched the slender bridge of his nose. It was very rare for you to make him impatient.
“You trust me,” he looked at you again and cocked his head, “right?”
You did. He was your closest friend in high school, much to your brother’s chagrin.
“…Yeah?” You dropped your shoulders in defeat, “okay, I do…well, I warned you. Malicious compliance, Todoroki. I’m telling you, it’s super inappropriate, but okay. Just wait here, yeah? I’m gonna go to the bathroom and change. Gimme a few minutes.”
“Sounds good. I’ll be here.” He nodded, making his way to sit on your bed. It’s like he was at home, judging by how comfortable he made himself around you.
You grabbed a plastic bag out of your suitcase and scurried into the restroom before Shouto could catch sight of the pink tinging your cheeks.
“Shit,” you whispered behind the locked door, yanking the black clothes out, “I planned on going by myself!”
You sure did. Out of that bag came out chunky black heels, fishnets, short black skorts, and a small tank top with your favorite band’s name on it. You changed into your outfit as fast as you could so you wouldn’t have time to think about how embarrassing it would be to have Shouto Todoroki of all people see you in this. You nearly stomped your high heel in frustration when you saw yourself in the mirror, realizing just now how revealing that little tanktop was on you. Not only was it tight, it was low enough to show off plenty of your buxom chest. You couldn’t hide behind your hair as you tugged it forward and whined.
For a brief moment you wondered if this was exactly why Endeavor prohibited you from going out on your own. Then again, you realized, that even if you wore a full gown and covered yourself down to the ankles, it would have made no difference. You were quick with your mascara and gave your hair a quick brush-through down to your elbows before you stepped out of the bathroom.
“Okay,” you sighed, avoiding all eye contact as your face went warmer, “don’t say your dad was right, because-“
“Oh wow.”
You looked in Shouto’s direction, not fully at him first, until you noticed himself give a quick shake of his two-toned hair as if he had said something without thinking first.
“Sorry,” he got up, looking away momentarily, “I wasn’t trying to stare. Come on; let’s go before my old man hears one of us talking in here.”
“W-where??” You questioned him as he paced past you, gently but firmly grabbing your wrist the way you always grabbed his when you sped off somewhere.
“Shhhh,” he motioned to his lips before opening the door and peering into the hallway cautiously.
“Hey,” you whispered, following him out and shutting the door, “you owe me an explanation, Todoroki…”
“Oh, do I?” He turned around momentarily, raising an eyebrow as he pulled you along.
Your face felt hot again.
“Yes, please,” you huffed with frustration at the way your stomach felt every time he gave you that icy stare from his scarred side, almost challenging you as your eyes darted around the hallway. All the rooms had their lights off, except Endeavor’s. He was awake and ever so vigilant as always.
“We’re going to that concert,” he whispered, swiftly pulling his hood over his head, “we just can’t be recognized in case someone does see us. I’m easy to spot in a crowd and he has sidekicks in this city, too.”
“W-w-what?!” You gasped in disbelief at what you’d just heard, almost missing a step as he turned you two into the first elevator he saw open, “wait, I-…I-I don’t understand, how’d you get a tick- oh shit! My ticket, it’s-“
“Calm down,” he placed a hand on your shoulder, guiding you to mimic his calm and collected posture, “I got us both tickets. They’re on my phone.”
“How-…” you shook your head slowly, watching him pick the lobby floor and press, “they’re sold out, by now…”
Shouto turned from a wall of buttons to flash a red card at you.
“Not for my old man,” he tucked it into the back pocket of his jeans, walking up to you again as his hands disappeared into his hoodie, “anyway. My dad’s just being a prick. People deserve to have fun once in a while, right? That’s what you used to tell me all the time before you’d drag me into hanging out with you, Midoriya, and Bakugou.”
“Hey,” you laughed softly, rubbing behind your neck as you leaned back against a rail, “you don’t even like this kind of music…what gives?”
He shrugged past you and matched your body as he came to join you against the railing.
“You do,” he leaned back, “you wanted to go see them, right? So, let’s go see them.”
“…Thanks, Todoroki.”
DING!
“Hey,” It was almost a laugh.
You watched him walk up to the doors and turn back to face you as they opened up for you two, into the lobby.
“You shouldn’t thank your friends for wanting to hang out with you. It’s not like I’m doing you a favor.” He nearly smiled there for a moment.
“Oh,” you laughed at him as you followed him out, “what, I’m doing you one?”
“You could say that if you want.”
“Oh, hush!”
“What?”
“Quit depreciating yourself,” you pressed him with your elbow as you folded your arms, “so, we take the bus, yeah?”
“Bus? No, no,” he said in confusion, “taxi. We’ll go straight there. Plus, you’ll get cold. You’re already cold.”
“Am not. I was just covering myself a little.”
“Why?”
“…People around.”
“You expect me to believe you care what anyone thinks of you? Since when? This is news to me, Bakugou.”
“Ew!” You guffawed next to him, the wind hitting your face and hair as you went outside with your arms tight, “I know you’re being sarcastic, but gross! I hate the way you say my last name.”
“You call me Todoroki, still,” he pointed out, the slightest hint of irritation on his face as he pulled back his hood and chimeyed out of his jacket, “what if I hated the way you say my last name?”
“Then, what the hell am I supposed to call you?”
“Uhh, try Shouto, maybe?”
“Ah-…” you stopped as your brain caught up to speed, watching him flag down a taxi, “oh, I mean, everyone still calls you-“
“-yeah, everyone isn’t my best friend, Satsuki.”
His jacket plopped lightly across your shoulders. You felt the ghost of his hands. There it was. This was the second time he made it a point to call you his best friend, the first being to an interviewer at school in your first year. Your brother was not pleased; in fact, Katsuki was cut out of that interview entirely.
“You call Midoriya by name,” he continued, opening the car door for you both, “you call him ‘Izuku’, always.”
“Yeah, I’ve only known that dork since preschool,” you chuckled, following him in, “but you’re right, I guess I just didn’t know if you’d think it was weird if I suddenly started to.”
“It’d only be weird if you gave me a nickname like your brother already has.”
“You mean, you don’t like ‘Icy-Hot’? What about ‘Soy Sauce Face’?”
“God, no,” he shook his head, showing his phone to the driver in front, “can you drop us off here, please? Thanks,”
And just like that, you two were off to your destination. Your mind was a whirlwind of emotions; excitement, adrenaline, glee; your fingers nearly shook inside the large jacket you coccooned yourself into.
“I’m so stoked,” you looked up at Shouto next to you, “holy crap, I’m so stoked,”
“Good,” he smiled briefly at you, “I’m glad.”
You had to turn around and pretend to look at the night life outside to hide the heat creeping into your face. It was a weird feeling but you knew it embarrassed you when he made you react that way. Usually, it would happen with certain looks he’d give you; either the ones of delight or the ones where you’d struck a nerve. It was ironic how an icy stare like his absolutely melted you into a puddle.
“You think we’ll be in trouble?” You broke your own silence.
“No,” he stared out the same window you did, “he’s not gonna check on us.”
“And if he somehow finds out?”
“He won’t do anything to me. And he can’t do anything to you.”
“How do I know that?”
“Because I’m with you. He can’t make a threat at you because he knows it’d be a threat at me as well. I’ve established that already and he knows it.”
“Ahh,” you laughed softly, waving your hands at him when you returned his pensive frown with a grin, “my prince, you’re so knightly!”
“Sacchan, I’m serious,” he sighed at your childish humor, “don’t worry about Endeavor. If he finds out, he finds out. I tell him it was my idea because I just wanted to spite him as a part of my ‘rebellious personality’, like he calls it. He scolds me, I remind him that I don’t take orders from him, he feels guilty and backs off, and we move on.”
“Sorry!” You laughed incredulously, “it’s just, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but you’re so rebellious you make my brother look like a saint! Everyone thinks my brother is some kind of badass but he’s just loud and flashy; he’s actually a pretty obedient person, deep down. You? You really don’t give a flying fuck. You’re just living and not letting your dad have any kind of say-so about your life. In fact, I often wonder if you do things sometimes just to piss him off. Was this one of them?”
“Not at all,” he shook his head softly, almost as if he had been expecting you to ask him that, “I just wanted to see you happy. You looked so upset in that moment.”
Your eyes widened a little in surprise. He completely caught you off guard.
“Th-that-…” you stammered, “that’s so sweet, Shouto.”
He smiled a real smile when he heard you finally call him by his first name. You two spent your time from the taxi ride to the inside of the venue making conversations about seemingly nothing yet everything at once. You had given him his hoodie back so he could better hide his very recognizable appearance. Between having natural hair colors that split straight down the middle, heterochromia, and an angry scar that took a quarter of his face surrounding his turquoise eye, he stuck out like a sore thumb and you both knew it. It wasn’t as cold in a crowd anymore, the large ring around the center stage crawling with people. You two had decided to stay at the outer edge of the ring, where you couldn’t lose each other in a tight sea of concert-goers at night. Everything was dark besides a well-lit stage and some phones along the throngs of people ahead of you, a small bar at your left. This privacy made it much easier for you and Shouto to be able to talk while still blending in with everyone else.
“Can you see anything?” He shouted next to, not into your ear, hands stuffed down his pockets again.
“No!” You yelled up at him, unconsciously holding him down by the collar of his hoodie, “I’m too damn short!”
“Can you jump?”
“No, that won’t do shit!”
“I’d make you a block of ice to stand on if I could,” he confessed, “too bad we can’t use our quirks in public like that.”
“I appreciate the sentiment,” you chuckled, almost into his cheek as you felt him smile against your warmth, “I’m just happy to be here!”
You turned back around to find the band playing the intro to your favorite song. You groaned in frustration, unable to see anything at your height. All you saw was a sea of heads. Then, you noticed some sprinkles of petite women being carried upon shoulders here and there. The lightbulb in your head went off.
“Look!” You grabbed Shouto, pointing out a girl not too far from you two, “she’s sitting on his shoulders so she can see the band! Quick, put me up there!”
Shouto’s eyes went wide at your request as he shifted his gaze from you, to the couple, and to you again.
“Uh…But-“ he pointed at your skorts, “you’re wearing a skirt, aren’t you?”
“Skorts,” you innocently pulled up the bottom to show him your coverage, “see? It’s a skirt with shorts! Pretty cool, right? I picked it out in case trouble happens, I can fight without worrying about what I’m wearing.”
“You really thought ahead,” he acknowledged.
For a second Shouto looked like he was about to kneel down in front of you until you felt someone bump into your back and saw his face scowl as he watched it happen behind you.
“Woah, sorry!”
It was a young man you didn’t recognize, but he was old enough to be drinking, judging by the beer in his hand. There were two more males around his age right behind him, watching, eyeing you up and down before they sized up Shouto next to you.
“It’s okay,” you forced a smile, instinctively backing up a step for distance as Shouto took one forward at the same time. You backed up into him, jumping from the unexpected. He was like a human wall of ice at that moment, tall and stiff with…Something? Irritation? Readiness? You didn’t know, but you knew him well enough to feel a change in demeanor. The air around you was suddenly cold and it wasn’t the venue.
“You uh, enjoying the show?”
It was painfully uncomfortable to be here, suddenly.
“Yup,” you both answered together.
You watched the man nod to himself as if he was thinking of what to say next, his friends whispering behind him, staring at you. You felt annoyed not at that but the fact that you were just moments ago about to get up on Shouto’s shoulders and see your favorite song being played.
“I was wondering if I could maybe uh, buy you a drink?”
Aaand there it was.
You felt a hand behind you gently wrap around your elbow, and you knew what to expect then thanks to growing up with a brother your age. So, you spoke up before Shouto could.
“Sure!” You beamed, “I’d like two shots.”
Everyone looked at you with surprise, and the hand on you gripped as the young man behind you leaned down to the side of your head.
“Just what are you doing?”
You could hear the irritation in Shouto’s voice.
“One for me,” you continued grinning at the men in front of you, “one for my boyfriend, here.”
You didn’t have to turn around to see Shouto’s face then as you knew it most likely had the same expression of shock as the trio before you.
“O-oh,” the man who had offered you a drink stammered out, “sorry, didn’t realize you uh, that he was your man…”
“Two package deal,” you nodded, gritting your teeth in irritation and impatience as you watched them scurry along. Before you were given a chance to exhale, Shouto tugged you around and motioned to his back.
“Come on,” he crouched, “hop on, it’s still that song you like. Hurry up before anyone else hits on you!”
“Okay!” You laughed in excitement. You expertly swung a leg around his neck and plopped on, “now hold onto my thighs!”
You could tell he was tense from how your speed to assume this position caught him off guard.
“Alright, now stand up!” You instructed, “hold tight, and don’t drop- WEEE!!”
And suddenly, you could see the entirety of the stage and one of the many bands you listened to with your twin brother growing up. Your face beamed with joy as one of your hands came to rest on top of Shouto’s, the other finding his hooded head.
“You’ve done this before!” He shouted over the music, adjusting your legs, “this isn’t your first time!”
“Nope!” You gripped his hand for security, waving your other, “when we were kids, Kacchan and I would do this all the time and just run around the house for fun. Then we’d throw each other on the couch! Man, it’s been ages!”
“You guys must have played a lot.”
“Yeah, too much! We used to get hurt so often, we would drive our pops crazy.”
“Your dad’s the calmer one, right?”
“Yeah, ma’s bananas but she means well. That’s where Kacchan got his personality from. He’s sort of a goblin, isn’t he?”
“Sure,” Shouto almost laughed, “so what does that make you, then?”
“Definitely not a goblin!” You cackled, playfully slapping the hand on your thigh.
The night went on that way for a while. You stayed up on his shoulders song after song, always checking to see if he was okay in between your headbanging and moving around. Eventually he was reassuring you that you weren’t heavy at all and that he was fine, and he’d asked you to just enjoy the show and not worry about him. That was easier said than done but soon you did, and soon Shouto was the one who needed reassurance.
“Sorry,” he said underneath you, his fingers fidgetting against the tops of your thighs, “your tights are really flimsy, I think I keep ripping them because you keep bouncing around!”
You looked down and for a moment it surprised you how small your thighs were in his grip; or did he always just have big hands? He did, but right now you noticed them a lot more. You saw that his fingertips kept getting caught into the holes of your fishnets, and just like he had said, they were causing bigger holes the more you moved with the music. Inadvertently, it looked like this only caused him to hold you tighter to keep your lower body planted firmly on him. Somehow the sight of that really sent fireworks through your stomach; the way he had you in an iron grip while your legs nestled his neck and jaw.
“O-oh, don’t worry about it,” you said rather quietly.
“What?!”
“I said don’t worry!” You snapped out of it, rolling his hood down the back of his head, “are you having fun?”
You carefully hunched down to peer at his face as he looked up at yours. It was the first time you were able to get eye contact while you were up there. As you combed his hair back and away from his forehead, you noticed he was blushing rather heavily under the flashes of UV lights here and there.
“Oh no,” you nearly pouted, “are you tired? I can get off, it’s fine!”
“No, I’m not tired at all,” he admitted, looking a little embarrassed now that you could see him, “…I-I’m just flustered, honestly…You keep moving around and it’s making your thighs rub all over my face.”
That was the first time you’d heard Shouto stutter. The gasp that filled your lungs upon that confession came with no warning as your hand shot up and slapped itself over your agape mouth.
“O-oh my God, I-I’m so sorry!” You stammered, almost losing your balance as your legs did a weird thing instinctively to widen away from his head.
“Hey, careful!” He caught you, reestablishing your posture, “that’s nothing worth falling off over! I said I’m flustered, not bothered! Those are two different things,”
In the best way you could understand…Did he just flat out tell you that you turned him on and that it was okay with him? Did he even realize what he was saying?
“…Okay!” You nodded almost frantically, attempting to catch up on your overflow of thoughts, “as long as you’re cool with it!”
“Yeah, are you?”
Did he really just-
“Yep!”
Did you really just-
“Alright, so forget about me already!” There was a smile in his voice; a feint one, “Enjoy the show. Seriously, Sacchan, if I minded I would have said something an hour ago. It looks like you lost track of time.”
You did. Shouto always kept track of things like that, but not you. You fully understood then that he was indeed doing this purely to take you out and have fun with you; none of it was to spite his father. He hadn’t come up in conversation since you two had left the hotel what seemed like an eternity ago.
“Sacchan,” he caught your attention again, “can you put my hood back on, please? Someone might see us.”
You snapped out of your mental trance and clumsily covered his two-toned hair again, catching one last glimpse of his rosy cheeks before you found his hands. It was brave of you. One of your hands just rested on his for balance, seemingly, as the other gripped. You felt him grip you back and wondered if it was to help keep you steady or if he was just holding your hand upon you holding his. Before this concert, you would have safely assumed it to be the former. Now, however, you realized it could have been the latter in addition. You wondered if there had ever been other small things you both had missed up until this point.
Probably much more than you could begin to recall and question right now. Maybe this is what your friends meant when they’d laugh that someone as handsome and intelligent as Shouto could also be so dense at the same time. Maybe this is what they meant when they’d lovingly call you oblivious behind your back and said that you two were both infuriating and blind in your “friendship”. Now that you remembered, your friends always put the air quotes around “friendship”. It all started to slowly click together like an agonizingly slow puzzle you never took a close look at until this moment.
“OH HELL NO, IS THAT MY FUCKING SISTER GETTING A SHOULDER RIDE ON SOME FUCKING DOUCHEBAG?!?!?”
Oh no. No no no no no.
“SACCHAN!!! SATSUKI, YOU SNEAKY LITTLE BIIIITCH!!!” That familiarly loud voice roared seemingly across the crowd ahead, reaching your ears in an instant.
You whipped your head to the side to see some UV lighting catch a dot of platinum blonde hair advancing dangerously fast towards you. He was easy to spot as the closer he got, the quicker you saw people stumble and fall, the tops of their heads scattering like schools of fish away from what could closely be described as a shark thirsty for blood.
“Fucking shit!” You panicked, slapping down on Shouto’s hand, “my stupid brother’s here!”
“What?”
Of course Shouto didn’t hear him. It wasn’t really that Katsuki Bakugo was any louder than a sea of people. You just were much more sensitive to his voice, recognizing it anywhere.
“Kacchan is here, damn it!” You slapped his hands wildly, “oh shit, where’d he go?! God damn it, I lost him! Put me down, Shouto, put me down! Hurry!”
Just when Shouto was about to get you down, having no clue what was going on, you felt someone’s arm thrust past and over your leg.
“WHO THE FUCK IS THIS GUY, HUH?!?!?!”
Before either of you could react, Katsuki’s hand had a fistful of Shouto’s hood in his hand.
“I’LL FUCKING KILL HIIIM!!!“
Your eyes met the violence in a pair of crimson eyes, thoroughly shaking you to the core. You had never seen your brother this angry. For a moment, and only a moment, you thought he really meant it this time, until in the span of a second, you saw multiple things happen faster than you could reach out in front of you. You saw the hood fly off of Shouto’s head, Katsuki reel a fist back, Deku fly out from behind him and grab the back of his shirt and fall back on his heels, and then finally, the only thing that stopped your brother from full on launching a punch square into the side of Shouto’s face, wasn’t Shouto himself, but Katsuki. Your twin’s body froze halfway as his eyes shot wide open, his mouth relaxing. Only then did you notice Shouto had snuck an arm up in defense. Apparently, his instinct was the fastest amongst you four. He was ready to block even though he was the last person to realize what was happening right now.
“Todoro-…Icy-Hot??…” Katsuki’s voice went soft, almost unrecognizable from the rage he had just moments ago, “w-wha-“
“Bakugou?!?” Shouto froze up in disbelief. It was clear from the use of your last name that for a moment, he forgot you were up on his shoulders, and only saw your brother.
“Izuku, what-…What the actual FUCK!!” You yelled, throwing your finger out into an aggressive jab at the boys before you, “just what the shit are you guys doing here?! More importantly, why is Izuku here of all places, Kacchan?!?”
“W-w-we were checking out the city!” The green-haired male stammered, his grip locked to your brother’s shirt as his legs relaxed, “then out of nowhere Kacchan wanted to come here and we snuck in! Then-…then, well, he saw you from far away, and you know the rest-“
“SHUT IT!!” Katsuki shouted, never taking his eyes off of Shouto. As angry as he seemed, you noticed the relief on his face when he had seen who’s shoulders you were sitting on. That, he couldn’t hide, as livid as he sounded, “what the CRAP, Icy-Hot! You wanna tell me why the fuck you have my sister hoisted up there?!? Just what the fuck do you think you guys are doing?!?”
“Because she’s short and couldn’t see the stage,” Shouto sighed calmly, now that the dust settled. He could finally crouch back down and let you off, unable to grab your hands to help you as your brother scurried to beat him to it. “I wanted to take her here because my dad was being a prick all day and didn’t let her come, so,”
“Yeah,” you balanced yourself, taking a deep breath before giving Katsuki a light punch in the chest, “it was last minute. Shouto surprised me, that’s all.”
Your brother didn’t register the change in name you used, too preoccupied in shouting to notice, but you caught a curious look from Izuku behind him as he came forward.
“Hey, Kacchan,” he smiled beside him, “aren’t you glad that was Todoroki and not somebody else?”
“OF COURSE NOT!!” He exploded.
“You looked pretty relieved, there,” Shouto straighted his clothes next to you, reassuming the hood of his jacket back on, “don’t lie. If it were anyone else here with your sister, I’d be afraid of you getting expelled from Yuuei from what you’d do to them.”
“Yeah,” you laughed, crossing your arms again, “you looked like you were about to cave his face in. You scared me.”
“I scared you?!” The blonde huffed, looming into your personal space, “you fucking idiot, do you have any idea how I felt just now?! I was about to commit murder in public!”
“That’s implying that I wouldn’t have been able to defend myself against you.”
You turned around to be met with Shouto’s very unimpressed, stoic face as he stared past the top of your head and at your brother.
“Hah! You wouldn’t. Remember the sports festival during our first year?! I fucking crushed you!”
“Weren’t you begging me to use my left side, if I recall correctly?”
“Just what the fuck are you implying, Soy-Sauce?!”
You shot an annoyed glance at Izuku as he nervously smiled, letting out a relieved laugh when you two made eye contact.
“I didn’t imply anything,” Shouto stated, “I was just asking you if my memory was right or not.”
“REMATCH!!!” Your idiot announced with a grin, “I’ll fucking crush you this ti-“
“Okay!” You huffed, trying your best not to laugh at the hilarity before you, “okay, enough, Kacchan. Maybe you guys can get some practice fighting sometime. Anyway, since we’re all here, maybe we should go back to the hotel. Endeavor might check up on us.”
Shouto whipped his phone out, wasting no time, “so far nothing. If he did and saw that we were out, he’d be blowing up my phone by now. He’s probably in his room catching up on some work or he’s in the downstairs bar getting a drink by himself. One or the other, but if we go back right this second, we might run into him.”
“Okay, well, what do you guys wanna do?” Izuku grinned, his eyes big with excitement, “Is anyone hungry? If we eat somewhere in the hotel, it’ll look like we just went downstairs to grab a bite!”
“Hmmmm,” you pondered, tapping your chin as you turned to smile up at Shouto, “I could eat, what about you?”
“Sure,” he nodded, a bit of nervousness lacing his voice as he finally found your eyes looking at his again, “food would be nice right now.”
You matched the look on his face and warmed a little. It felt like you hadn’t seen his face in too long but it was somehow soothing when you did. Then, Katsuki scoffed as he shoved his way between and past you two, effectively separating you.
“Oh yeah,” he grumbled, “I’m sure you worked up an appetite! Must be tired and hungry after having my shitty sister perched on you like a fucking bird for God knows how long…Anyway! We should grab fast food somewhere in the hotel. That way we can see if gramps is really having a drink or not, and then we can sneak back into our rooms.”
“Thank God,” Izuku mumbled weakly, his spine becoming mush as he walked with you and Shouto, following Katsuki out of the venue, “I’m glad everyone’s okay. Todoroki, we both wanted to sneak out and explore the city with you and Sacchan, but-…Wait, so neither of you went to bed, then?”
“I was gonna,” you winced as the night air hit your sweaty face and you wiped it, “I didn’t feel like going out anymore when Kacchan texted me. Shouto knocked on my door and just told me to put on my concert clothes, so I did, and he brought us here.”
“Oh, so it wasn’t a date,”
You and Shouto stopped momentarily, forcing Izuku to as well while your brother sped off ahead in search of a taxi.
“N-no,” you shook your head in confusion.
“No, why?” Shouto finished what you wanted to ask but were caught too off-guard to pry into.
“Oh, sorry!” He waved his hands in front of him and blushed slightly, “I-I didn’t know. Sorry…I assumed a little, and I think Kacchan did too, at first. When I saw you guys, I just thought maybe Sacchan had lied to us and snuck out without wanting to tell us about it. I wouldn’t blame her. And, Todoroki, when we called you, you didn’t answer. So, to us it kinda looked like you guys had secretly gone out on a date together, and the longer it was without us getting a response, the more paranoid Kacchan was getting. He dragged us over here and we were really confused because with the hood on, we couldn’t tell it was you, Todoroki.”
“Oh…that all makes sense, now,” he answered, continuing his stride again with you as he took note of the cold getting to you, “you guys thought we went on a date, and then you got here, didn’t see me, and thought Sacchan just snuck out and met up with a random guy at the concert.”
“Exactly,” you nodded, pretending you didn’t notice as you felt Shouto shrug his hoodie off and throw it around your shoulders, “so, my idiot brother just got really worried because he thought I was with you, and then suddenly he thought I wasn’t,”
“He’ll never admit it, but,” Deku brought up his hand to block the light of the taxi you three approached, “Todoroki…there’s a reason he’s always threatening you but never does anything about it. I think deep down, he trusts you around Sacchan. You’re one of the only guys he didn’t try to beat up in the locker room for talking to her, back in first year.”
“My brother did WHAT-“
“-Get in, losers!” The window rolled down ar your brother’s head popped out of it, messy hair and all “Hurry the fuck up, I’m starving already!”
“Since when-…” you trailed off, being yanked into and crammed into the taxi as all four of you clumsily settled in the back seat together. Apparently no one wanted to sit next to the driver as he drove off to where Katsuki had instructed him to go.
“Hey!” You whisper-shouted as you smacked your brother next to you, “since when did you beat people up at school for talking to me?!”
“Oh great,” he rolled his eyes, “who ratted me out, Deku?”
“Katsuki, answer me!”
“Make me!”
“It started with Midoriya,” Shouto spoke up, catching everyone’s attention, “remember his swollen cheek on your second week of school? He punched him because apparently he told him not to talk to you and he did.”
Your jaw dropped.
“Oh yeah!” Katsuki laughed, hanging his head back as he folded his arms, slouching into his seat, “good memory, Icy-Hot. After that I ripped the balls off of that little grape pervert’s head. I walked in on him talking to Sparky; something about your tits. Gross.”
You scoffed in disbelief and Deku palmed himself over the face and groaned loudly.
“Then it was Kaminari,” Shouto picked up where he left off, “he somehow made him electrocute himself, I don’t know how,”
“I shoved him against an outlet and he was still wet from the shower!” Katsuki guffawed with pride, “c’mon, you don’t remember that one, loser?”
“Oh wait, yeah,” the male on your other side sighed, “Kaminari was in the nurse’s office all day. I felt bad. Who came after that?”
“Kirishima,” Izuku put up a finger, “Kacchan tried to blast him in the face for inviting you to the arcade with a bunch of us. It didn’t really work because of his hardening. Then they became friends because Kirishima thought his reasoning was manly to care about you so much.”
“We aren’t friends, moron!”
“You say that about everyone, Katsuki. Yet you’ve known Deku since you were all little and let him call you ‘Kacchan’ this whole time.”
“No one asked you, Icy-Hot!”
“And how many times have you guys come over to eat Fuyumi’s and Natsu’s cooking?”
“WE’RE HERE!” Came a shout of relief from the front. “We’re finally here…”
The four of you made quick work of ejecting yourselves from the taxi as Katsuki chucked a wad of cash at the driver, all of you fumbling out and nearly tripping on each other before you found the neon lights of the very tall hotel building.
“Jeez,” you griped, walking side-by-side with the group, “I didn’t know my brother was too busy being a raging asshole the entire first four months of my transfer, and that’s why he couldn’t say hi to me.”
“You know why I didn’t wanna talk to you,” he groaned, “we’re not going over this again!”
You four stood there as the glass doors opened before you.
“Sacchan,”
You turned to face Shouto.
“Zip this up,” he whispered, tugging on the jacket he had given you, “we can’t attract too much attention, remember?”
“And you?” You muttered under your breath, finding the zipper as he waited for you to get settled, the other two boys going off to a burger place without you, “you said it yourself, you’re easy to spot.”
“No, no, I meant because I don’t wanna deal with anyone else offering you a drink,” he huffed, “if we get spotted by my old man now we can just say we came down here to eat a late-night snack.”
Apparently he wasn’t as dense as you once thought. He connected the dots that your revealing outfit was something that could tempt someone to come harrass you and that was more important to him than being found by his father or one of Endeavor’s sidekicks. He’d rather lie that you all just wanted food than have to watch you get hit on again.
“That’s not believable,” you snorted, eyeing Katsuki and Deku as they argued about what to eat, “we’re both all sweaty and my hair is probably all messed up from head banging.”
“You look fine.”
A hand found its way to the back of your hair. You felt his fingers comb through it, very carefully to not touch your body as he made his way down to your waist.
“Th-thanks,” you smiled, pretending that the gesture didn’t just send a shock through your system.
“Sorry, did I make you uncomfortable?”
“No. Maybe a little flustered, but not uncomfortable.”
You heard a sigh come from his nose; a silent laugh.
“Oh, I see,” he made a small smile, “call it revenge, then.”
“I think we can both agree your sittuation was way worse,” you chuckled, pulling him along to a boba place near where your brother and Izuku waited for their orders, “come on. You said you didn’t wanna deal with anyone else offering me a drink, right?”
“Yeah,” he raised his eyebrow and matched your stride, “why?”
“Sooo…” you kept your hand on his wrist, both of you noting that you hadn’t let go yet, “beat ‘em to it, then. You offer me a drink instead.”
It took him a moment to understand, to really let the weight of your words sink in. Part of it was him being oblivious and part was just plain lack of experience with these kinds of things. But when he realized what you were saying, his demeanor changed. The disbelief had gone and all he was left with was curiosity and a hint of bravery.
“Oh, you mean you won’t tell me that you have a boyfriend?” He gave you that questioning look, almost as if he was challenging you, now.
“No!” You laughed rather loudly. It wasn’t that you thought his sassiness was funny, right now. It was sheer joy that he understood you and in the most clever, discreet way possible not only let you know that he did, but that the feeling was mutual. “Hah, you know I don’t…”
“Are you two nerds done being obnoxious as all hell over here?!”
You turned to see both Katsuki and Izuku stuffing their faces with cheeseburgers and fries.
“I can hear you giggling from a mile away!” Your twin huffed, aggressively stuffing a fry into your face the moment you glanced at his food, “here, I got you some too, you fucking brat. Eat.”
“Mm,” you nodded, happily accepting the bag of fries that was shoved into your chest.
“Ooh, are you guys getting milk tea?” Deku grinned, glancing back at Todoroki behind you as he ordered, “I heard this place was good, don’t we have one near school?”
“Yeah!” You beamed back at him, swallowing your food, “we go study there sometimes. It’s good.”
Katsuki shot a glare at the back of Shouto’s head. That’s when Izuku realized who the “we” you referred to was about.
“Thank you,” Shouto grabbed two cups from the cashier turning to hand you one.
Your drink was a mix of a couple different colors with tapioca at the bottom.
“My favorite,” you sipped, “thanks!”
“No problem.”
Neither of the two young men in front of you thought it was strange that you didn’t pay for anything. They both silently assumed it was his turn for food, so only you and Shouto knew the little secret you two just shared together.
“So,” Izuku smiled, his eyes darting back and forth between you two, “should we head back up? Now we have actual proof that we just went downstairs to get snacks.”
The four of you grouped up into an elevator nearby without much protest from your brother, miraculously. He was too busy savoring the last of his burger to give you more shit or complain about the seemingly most random things.
“Shouto?!”
You almost spit your drink out when the doors opened.
“Hey, Dad,” he said monotonously as usual, hardly looking at his father as he walked past him and out of the elevator, “was just getting a snack, we got hungry.”
The three of you scurried out quickly and did the same as Shouto, pacing past Endeavor.
“I’m goin’ to my room,” Katsuki announced, strolling right up to the closest door before he slammed it shut as if nothing happened, “night, you bunch of losers!”
“I-I’m also going to bed!” Izuku laughed nervously, bee-lining to his own room before locking himself inside, “uh, goodnight you guys! See you tomorrow morning!”
“Just hold on!” Endeavor demanded, barely grazing Shouto’s shoulder as he smacked his dad’s hand away.
“Tired,” he shot his father an icy glare, shaking around his cup of tea, “can I say goodnight without you interrupting me?”
“You owe me an explanation-“
“-No, I don’t. I already told you. We were hungry. Please, I said I was tired.”
Endeavor let out a huge sigh as he gave you two one last look and headed down the hallway, “fine. I expect you all to be awake and ready bright and early tomorrow. It’s going to be a brutal day. Get some sleep.”
You and Shouto silently waited for his father’s door to shut behind him until you were alone in the hallway. You both stayed quiet for a moment, in case Izuku or Katsuki decided to peer their heads out.
“We’re good,” Shouto whispered, hastily yanking you into his room and shutting the door before he placed both your cups on the table behind him, “God, I thought I’d never get a second to just talk. That was stressful. I-“
You threw your arms around his waist and just held him there, tight, when he turned to face you.
“I know you said to not to thank you for hanging out, but…” you breathed deeply against his chest, “I’m gonna say it anyway. That was the most fun I’ve had in a really, really long time.”
It took him a moment to relax but when he did, and when you didn’t let go, Shouto wrapped his arms around you as well.
“I was about to say the same thing, but you beat me too it,” he crooned over the top of your head, exhaling a breath in what sounded like relief, “can we do that again sometime?”
Your heart imploded, or rather, exploded at the question.
“Of course…when?”
You both let go and looked at each other, all smiles and red in the face.
“Sunday. Our next day off from school and hero work,” he fixed your hair out of your eyes, “are you free? I’m free after I go visit my family.”
Your breath hitched at the touch.
“Same,” you nodded, turning to reach the door, and hide your growing blush, “wanna catch a movie that night?”
“Sounds good. We have a date, then.”

The more I think about it, the more I might be signing on to the theory that Izuku KNOWS his trigger is Kacchan, and he just hasn't admitted/confronted it yet...At least, that we have yet seen.
Hold my non-alcoholic beverage.
Once again, let's preface with the fact that we have SEEN with our own eyes, that Kacchan has been the trigger of two specific incidents, being Monoma insulting Kacchan and Izuku becoming angry enough to manifest Black Whip.
And second, Kacchan following him into danger, and then getting impaled and nearly dying to protect him, which then triggered possibly the most RAGE we have ever seen Izuku possess, AND the manifestation of Danger Sense, AND caused him to literally throw himself at AFO/Shigaraki which put him immediately under threat of having OFA stolen. Obviously, the vestiges protected the Quirk, but the fact still stands that the rage the a Izuku felt was enough to drive him LITERALLY into Shigaraki's hands, despite how very very dangerous that was. Izuku LOST HIMSELF so badly that he could have lost the entire war right there, if The Vestiges hadn't protected him and the Quirk.
The moment when All Might and Kacchan are trying to coach him and find the connection that brought about Black Whip. The mention of an external factor, and Izuku's avoidance of saying what that factor was(Kacchan being insulted, as we ALL know and explicitly saw), and arguably his words of "It's not something I can handle right now" seem a bit suspicious.
(NOTE: I've said before, that I had slight skepticism that this line about not being able to handle it and putting a lock on something, was meant to refer to the power he unlocked, however, watching season 5 has made me remember that, after the chaotic manifestation, and talking to Lariat, and realizing that Black Whip was part of his Quirk and therefore there to HELP him, and he had successfully used it without losing control because he ACCEPTED that it was a power that was there to help, not hurt him. I am not so sure that Izuku's "lock" is referring to the power anymore, but rather, his feelings for Kacchan.
But, I have new perspective that maybe, like others were pointing out, maybe it IS referring to the actual TRIGGER. IE, his feelings for Kacchan/his anger on his behalf.
I could be wrong, of course? But stay with me because this is a part of a larger context)
So, after the War arc, after Kacchan got gravely injured on his behalf, after hospitalization, we are given one thing before Izuku suddenly leaves. But it was KACCHAN's perspective, Kacchan waking up and being desperate to get to Izuku, and getting DENIED at the door. We are shown Kacchan's desperation to make sure Izuku's ok, but so far, even well after waking up, we are NOT SHOWN Izuku's worry over Kacchan's condition. We are suddenly FLUNG into a brand new world where Izuku is a drop-out "vigilante" working on the villain activity outside of school, cleaning up villains and questing to find out how villains come to be in their own minds.
We've seen him talk to his mom before he leaves. We've seen him talk to Gran Torino.
But we haven't seen him talk to ANY of his friends yet, ESPECIALLY KACCHAN. When there has been such a fantastic amount of tension placed on that particular relationship, after not only the sacrifice Kacchan made, but also, and particularly, the FOCUS that was placed on Kacchan trying to REACH HIM and FAILING.
We've all been forced to inhale a deep breath as Kacchan charged down that hallway yelling for Deku, and we are STILL HOLDING THAT BREATH. There is a huge, poignant LOOSE END there that is hanging over our head. We are still waiting for the payoff.
So like that scene, in theory, Izuku is still avoiding how he feels so strongly about Kacchan that he can be triggered into rage over him being hurt?
Actually, no, I think this sudden change to Izuku is very much him finally acknowledging it and acting on it.
The reason we have so much unresolved tension still hanging over Kacchan and Izuku's non-reunion, the reason Hori set up this big conflict that hasn't been resolved yet, why he showed us Kacchan trying to see Deku and not an ounce of Izuku wanting to see Kacchan before he leaves,
is that Izuku is actively trying to distance himself from Kacchan.
He did say that the reason he won't be returning to UA is of course because AFO could find him at any time and he would place everyone around him in danger.
But Kacchan? I think Izuku is still very much traumatized by the fact that he witnessed Kacchan taking a would-be fatal blow for him and falling out of the sky, drenched in blood.
I think he probably realizes that if Kacchan follows him into battle again, there's a real chance it could happen again... Or worse, AFO/Shigaraki, now knowing what a touchy button that is for Izuku, could actively target Kacchan on the battlefield, kill him, and/or use him against Izuku.
And Izuku is in the literary stage where the protagonist thinks that the love they have for someone else is a weak point and a danger/liability to those he loves, and so tries to shoulder all the burden themselves an shut the other out. He doesn't want his friends involved, he doesn't want Kacchan involved.
Because he knows that his love for Kacchan is his weakness. He's finally acknowledging that when Kacchan is hurt or slighted, he tends to lose himself. He loses control of his heart, and this is not something they can afford at this point in the game. Defeating AFO is now or never. (and he just desperately doesn't want Kacchan to be hurt for him anymore.)
He is going to have to learn, however, that, like Kacchan says to him, he can't keep playing the Hero on his own. And that their love can be their greatest strength, instead of a weakness.
So he's left, probably without a conversation with Kacchan. Hori is holding out on showing us this, building onto that tension, and I feel like he has some very significant pay off coming up. We haven't been shown any such conversation because he wants us to keep holding that breath for a little longer.
And if I'm right, it's gonna be dramatic when Izuku breaks down about this to Kacchan, finally. There was also some theories that Kacchan v. Deku 3 is going to follow the progression of their relationship and have this one center around Izuku's feelings being laid bare and Kacchan "accepting his feelings" as Izuku had done for him in KvD2, I think I'm a fan of this theory.
So yeah, Izuku knows that Kacchan is his trigger and purposely left without him for that reason.
That's basically my theory. Probably not the first one to think this, but I thought I'd write about it anyway. to get it outta my head, lmao.
Alsooo, yeah this is tagged for my Bakudeku peeps, and I use the word "love" in this, but you can read that as you will, either platonic or possibly romantic, not here to say this theory calls for canon romantic feelings between BKDK because that's not really my point, but at this point denying that they love each other in SOME capacity is being blind.
Ship or don't ship, but I legitimately think this is the psychology of Izuku's decision right now.
#bnha spoilers#bakudeku#Izuku Midoriya#Katsuki Bakugou#we have been left with this open end for so long#it can't not be intentional

BKDK - Highschool Romantics Headcanons
LOVE ME some good old fashioned highschool romance shenanigans so as per my brand, lets make it bkdk!! bc tbh i havent made a hc list in a while
its second year highschool! things have calmed down significantly and for class 1-A this means that its time to celebrate their teenage years like they werent able to before
this means more movie nights--more days they get to spend having fun and being regular kids like they shouldve always been
meanwhile bkdk? after confessions and apologies made on bloody battlefields and quiet hospitals at the dead of night... its almost comical how cheesy they are
deku sneaks up on kacchan during lunchbreaks, dragging him to the training fields where he serenades him with a guitar and laughs as a small crowd of their schoolmates whoop in glee
he sings songs of youthful love and friendship, awkward voice smoothing into something beautiful and charming
in return, katsuki learns new songs. he learns to draw and to play the drums even better--living for that shocked little smile when he draws doodles of deku and dedicates especially sappy songs to him during their monthly school jamming session
they arent together at this point, technically. no one knows what they are. no one can begin to label what they have either.
but its definitely good.
its bright and its beautiful and its loud, so theyll protect it with their eyes wide open but in the meantime class 1A just sits back and watches the twin stars of UA unravel like leaves in the cool mornings of fall
they go everywhere together, always holding hands. bakugou and deku have promise rings, little matching all might insignias glinting in the sun
they won those in an arcade somewhere. no one knows what the promise is, and no one really bothers to ask
katsuki really likes lending izuku his jackets. its nothing he says outright, just the fact that he's always ready—always one arm out of its sleeve—to bundle his sweaters and drop it into the lap of the unsuspecting nerd.
"geez, is it just me or is it really co—" *flop*
sometimes kirishima worries about his best friends allowance at the rate in which he has to replace all his jackets
they brawl in the hallways, rough house on the train station, cuddle when its cold and the common room is filled with people and light
deku often likes to surprise katsuki with little gifts. he sneaks spicy candies into the other boy's backpack between classes, slips giftcards and notes of appreciation between the pages of katsuki's textbooks
in return, as he does with everything, katsuki goes big. sometimes he surprises deku with a giant teddy bear, or soft hoodies that remind him of the other. he'll get the whole bakusquad in on it and fill the hallways in the morning with encouraging yells and loud boisterous laughter
sometimes, obviously, they'll still mess up. They're still teenagers, still human.
Deku will sometimes not say things that he should and Kacchan will sometimes say things he doesn't mean.
they'll fight and yell and unsettle the dorms with how charged the air becomes. sometimes Aizawa's worried they'll go back to ground beta and increase the hero course's already abysmal annual repair budget again like they used to do when they were stressed and repressed and each other obsessed
but then bakugou will sneak into dekus balcony at the dead of night, like some sort of delinquent trying to visit their goody two shoes lover at the risk of running into their shotgun father
(which in this case, bakugou supposes, would be uraraka--the metaphorical shotgun being a very tired todoroki)
and he'll knock on the window gently, trying not to smile as izuku opens the window and rubs the sleep from his eyes.
"ka... cchan?"
katsuki lets himself smirk at last and tells deku theyre sneaking out.
phrases it like a taboo secret, even as aizawa watches from the security footage room exasperated but also kind of relieved because of all things his class has gone through, a little midnight tryst is the least dangerous of them all. its not even close to the biggest secret deku's ever had, and by god he has plenty.
but he stifles his giggles into the palm of his hand and watches as bakugou precariously sits on the metal railing, clothes a mess and leaves still stuck in his hair
"Our little secret, okay?" Kacchan jokes, red eyes glimmering with something raw and perfect. "Don't tell your dad about me."
Izuku rolls his eyes and reminds him that All Might isn't actually his father, god Kacchan! You've met my real dad!
Yet still, he lets it pass.
And then, oh so carefully yet recklessly as if they weren't the most powerful duo of their generation, katsuki reaches out and slips deku's hands in his and takes him away
takes him to a beach (Dagobah, because of course it is) in the middle of the night, the stars brighter than theyve ever been because everything looks different when youre young and in love
they lay in the sand and listen to the waves and some weird beat thats been stuck in Izuku's head. Bakugou turns to watch his eyelashes flutter against freckled cheeks and holds out a pinky.
"I'm sorry. By the way. I didn't mean what I said and I want you to be happy."
Izuku hums and they talk it out. Eventually the other boy holds his pinky out too and they link together like pieces of a puzzle.
Under the stars, the two of them make a million promises. Promises that they know they'll break, promises that they know they won't, promises that leave them uncertain and guessing.
"—but you promise, though. Right? You promise that we'll still be by each other? Us against the world forever and ever even after this. Even when we grow old?"
Their pinkies stay linked together and the two boys know for sure that it's one of those highschool promises that they will keep forever.
Deku stares into pretty red eyes that remind him of juicy apples and warm bonfires beside friends who never run out of stories to tell
Katsuki stares back into clear green eyes that remind him of calming tea and lush grass he lays down on in the familiar heat of a summer afternoon
they just. stare. stare and stare and stare and maybe, they begin to think
maybe in those eyes, i can see our future.
and its good.
its really really good.

His Biggest Regret -Bakugou Katsuki x Reader-
Word count: 2.28k
After cracking down a big mafia operation on the other side of the globe, the entire alumni’s of UA’s 1st year finally gets together. The festive situation didn’t sit right with Bakugou who felt the overwhelming longing of someone he couldn’t have anymore.
!Warning!:
Mentions of death, mentions of injury, I think that’s it?
A/n: I honestly felt sad writing this haha, I’m kind of proud of it? Editting it was a hassle tho. Anyways, hope ya’ll enjoy some Bakugou (or Bakugo however you want to spell it) angst.
“Congrats Kacchan!!!” Deku playfully slaps the back of his childhood friend.
His smile was bigger than ever. Around Bakugou was his former classmates all talking away in their own little space.
It's been a long time since they all got together since their graduation. Every time anyone tried to plan anything, at least one of them couldn’t make it. But after a big takedown on a pesky Mafia group on the other side of the globe, they all agreed to take a break and celebrate.
The mastermind of the entire operation was the number 1 hero himself, Katsuki Bakugou. “Without you, I don’t think we’d be able to crack the operation.” Kirishima walked over to them with an equally bright smile.
“Tsk, of course! You extras would’ve gotten nowhere without me!!!” The group laughed together.
Some things just never change when it comes to their anger issues ridden former classmate.
“Then I shall make a toast!” Iida spoke loud enough to make sure everyone heard his voice. Everyone nodded and raised a glass. “To Bakugou, for cracking the mystery of Banana Fish.”
“And to all of us who worked together to finally end Golzine’s reign.” With that, everyone cheered and took a sip from whatever drinks they were holding.
Soon enough, endless chatter filled the entire room.
Smiles, laughter, and giggles could be heard from any point of the room. Old friends reconciling with each other. Old lovers mending their relationships. And old enemies finally apologizing.
It felt foreign to Bakugou.
Not the fact that they were all getting along. It wasn’t that.
It was the fact that everyone knew they were missing someone incredibly important.
They weren’t here right now.
He observed the private club with a keen eye. There were bottles of random drinks on almost every table, shot glasses also littered there.
His former classmates were always responsible drinkers. But today, they took shots after shots. Bottle after bottle.
Even Iida seemed to always have a different drink in his hand every time Bakugou would glance over.
He knew; it wasn’t to celebrate. It was to make sure everyone was too tipsy to say anything that would ruin the mood. It was to make sure that no one brought ‘them’ up.
Afterall, their busy schedules weren’t the only thing that stopped them from getting back together and hanging out.
They held fear in their eyes any time the thought of getting together would cross their minds. The thought of having to come face to face with their greatest failure as a hero, friend, and classmate.
Bakugou knew the feeling all too well.
When he was alone, there were plenty of things he could do to prevent his mind from wandering too far. But whenever he’d come across Deku or Shoto in missions or patrol.
If he were to strike a conversation, there’d always be a small silence that would almost always lead to them bringing up the topic of ‘them’.
“Heyyyy bakubrooo you should relax, you seem a little tense!!!” Kirishima’s words slurred.
It was close to 2 am, the party had already died down a little bit.
Some of his more responsible friends are already long gone. Leaving behind either the ones who are passed out or waiting for their ride.
“Get that shit away from me shitty hair!” He huffed and pushed the half full bottle of some random alcohol his friend tried to hand to him.
“Oh, come one number one. You should loosen up!!! You looked more angry than usual this entire time!!!” Kirishima sat down on the couch beside Bakugou with a loud thud.
“I mean, doesn’t the number one hero deserve a break every once in a while? You deserve it Bakubro. You cracked this giant case!!! Without you, that guy with the purple mohawk could’ve died.”
Kirishima laughed, reminiscing all the sleepless nights he and Bakugou would spend just doing research and trying to gain information from anywhere they could.
He took another swig from the half-emptied bottle, “I don’t deserve the number one spot dumbass.”
Bakugou muttered barely above a whisper.
Even though Kirishima was beyond wasted, the fact that his usually guarded friend suddenly opened up sobered him. “Hey, don’t be like that Bakubro. I’m sure they’d want you to be happy.”
Kirishima tried his best to comfort his friend, to no avail.
“I’m going home.” Bakugou suddenly stood up. “Don’t drive dumbass.” With that he walked to leave the club and to his car, hearing Kirishima yell his response. “Got it!!!”
When he got home, he quickly changed out of the annoyingly formal attire, back to his normal everyday attire. A black tank top and sweatpants.
Bakugou fell onto his bed with a small thud, a sigh of exhaustion left his lips. “Damn shitty hair talking about shit that shouldn’t be talked about.”
There was an unspoken rule amongst anyone who knew the alumni’s situation.
Don’t talk about them, you’ll regret it.
After tossing and turning around, Bakugou realized. He couldn’t sleep.
“Fuck.”
It wasn’t a normal sight to see the hero not being able to sleep. He was so strict about his sleeping schedules too. But his mind can’t seem to leave what Kirishima said.
“I’m sure they’d want you to be happy.”
Who does Kirishima think he was? Talking about them like that. Who knows what they’d think of him right now? He broke his promise to always protect them. To always be by their side.
His head looked to the right. A bedside cabinet made out of wood, stood. Devoid of any decor and just with a single compartment.
A single object lies within that cabinet.
His mind argued with each other, debating whether or not to open it.
“Fuck it!”
If he regretted this decision, he’d deal with that later.
Sitting up on the side of his bed he looked solemnly towards the cabinet.
A shaking hand opened the compartment.
There was a single photo frame, the photo side facing down instead of up.
Before he could back down, he took the frame and flipped it to see the photo.
The photo gleamed at him. It was a pitiful reminder.
Overwhelming sadness and anger filled him, when he looked at the picture. Anger, frustration, longingness, sadness, it all came crashing down.
Before he knew it, stray tears fell from his eyes.
The photo was the last photo he ever took together with his high school sweetheart. The love of his life. The person he promised to marry one day. It was the last photo he ever took with you before the world took you away.
Before those villains attacked UA whilst he was in his 3rd year.
It was before he lost the most important person to a villain.
~
The battlefield was a mess. It had ended but it was still a mess. Random debris scattered around. Some of his classmates and other students from other classes were injured and bloody.
Most of the league had gone with Shigaraki through Kurogiri’s portal, but there’s no telling if someone had stayed. Especially that specific villain with an invisibility quirk.
He had proven to be a rather difficult enemy because of his quirk, but realizing he was outnumbered, he hadn’t showed himself at all. No one saw him walk through Kurogiri’s portal either.
Bakugou shoved that concern to the back of his mind, he had other things to concern himself over. One of the biggest was, finding you.
He needed to apologize. The other night you and he got into a pretty big argument. All because of his anger issues and his pride.
But he couldn’t find you anywhere. Knowing your teleportation quirk.
You’d probably be helping other people around. Helping people deal with debris, transporting different things, and overall doing what you can to relieve any burdens from both the teachers and the students.
He wasn’t really focused on anything. He thought the battle was over. He just needed to find you.
He let his guard down.
He didn’t notice the invisible villain appearing once more to stab him from behind.
He didn’t notice until it was too late.
An ear-splitting scream broke the relatively quiet mood. He knew that scream.
He knew that voice.
His head snapped to the back and everything seemed to have slowed.
He remembered the panic and fear in your eyes. When he noticed the blade embedded in your heart, anger covered his senses.
Another yell resonated in the air. This time it was his own.
Bakugou’s hand went to the villain’s face and blasted them to somewhere he couldn’t even bother to care.
His arms caught your limp body from falling to the cold ground.
The world seemed to turn gray around him. The only thing he could see was your figure on his arms.
Blood pooling from your wound.
The anger that he felt just moments before was quickly replaced by fear.
“WHY DID YOU DO THAT DUMBASS?!” the people around him froze.
You tried to mutter enough energy to at least say a word. Just a single word. “Sorry.” Your voice came in stutters. Followed by a cough of blood.
He felt your body in his hands growing heavier, your hand on his cheek fell to the ground.
“DUMBASS WAKE UP!!!” he didn’t know if it was the shock of the surprise attack or the fear that made his voice crack. “WAKE UP OR I’LL NEVER COOK YOU FOOD AGAIN.”
Your eyes were wide open, but they were cold, empty, unresponsive.
He let tears flow down freely. Now clutching your body against his chest.
“No please.” He wrapped his arms around your body one arm below the stab and another from the bottom, above the stab. “Please teddy bear. I’m sorry ok? I’m sorry. This is enough payback for the shit I said to you last night. So please ok? Please wake up.”
A few of your classmates already a sobbing mess on the ground.
“Please teddy bear, the prank is over. Please… wake up…” Kirishima’s hand on his shoulder broke his trance.
He looked up at his standing friend.
Kirishima saw the sight of his usual angry, stubborn, brave friend, turn weak. Tears were already pouring from Kirishima’s eyes. But he needed to be strong.
It wasn’t his place to breakdown when his best friend had lost the only person who was brave enough of taking the challenge of calming the beast.
“I’m sorry Bakubro.” Kirishima shook his head.
That was the thing that made Bakugou finally realize, you were gone. He screamed up to the sky, cursing whatever God had decided you’d sacrifice your own life for his. He was frustrated he couldn’t protect you.
Kirishima looked around, and he saw how much his classmates cared about him.
No one dared to move or utter a sound above a stifle of cries. No one knew how to react. For the first time in UA history, a student has died in the school’s premise. And that student, was you.
Though Kirishima couldn’t see all of his classmates. He was sure they’d be equally as devastated to hear what had happened. You were such an important part in their lives. To have yours be stripped away that easily was shocking.
You were a ball of sunshine that brought joy no matter what you were feeling or where you were.
But now you lie on the ground, cold.
That night, the entire class was reminded of the hard truth of being as self-sacrificing as you were. You’d sacrifice your sleep to tutor Denki. You’d sacrifice resting your aching muscles just to make everyone’s favourite dishes for dinner.
Now, you’ve sacrificed your life for your lover’s.
~
He wiped the clear frame from dust and took a closer look at it.
You took it the morning before the argument. It was breakfast and for some reason, you were awake as early as him, for the first time in forever.
You had one of your arms around his torso, hugging him from behind. A bright smile decorated your face as you looked at the camera. Bakugou on the other hand looked to the side with a scowl on his face.
He remembered, after taking that photo. You kissed his cheek and uttered a sweet good morning before making your own breakfast. You didn’t miss the pink hue that decorated his cheeks. Your teasing giggles filled the room.
God, the things he’d give up just to hear your giggles again.
“You’ll never get hurt as long as I’m around.”
“Shut up dumbass, you won’t get hurt. I’ll protect you.”
“I won’t let anyone harm you.”
Those were just some promises he had made to himself and to you.
But now, here he was regretting the fact that his very last conversation with you was a useless back and forth of insults.
If he could turn back time and sacrifice himself, he would.
Bakugou placed the frame down and opened his phone, hoping for some sort of distraction. He wasn’t ready to completely face it yet. Though, everything online only fuelled his self-loathing
There were articles everywhere about how the number one hero Ground Zero otherwise known as Katsuki Bakugou, had saved the lives of thousands of people by cracking a giant drug market.
They all praised him. They all agreed he deserved the spot.
But did he really?
He didn’t think that such a title can be for him. Someone who broke all the promises he ever made to you.
How could he be the number one hero when the only person who was able to control him whilst loving him unconditionally died because of him.

Twitter AU Part 16
In that moment, one of the villains sliced the boat they were standing on in half, causing it to start to sink. Mineta started freaking out, exclaiming that Midoriya’s stupid plan wouldn’t work and that they were all gonna die.
Izuku crouched down to Mineta’s level, placing a trembling hand on his shoulder. “Mineta, I believe in you. We’re gonna get out of this but we need your help.”
Mineta nodded tentatively, tears still pooling out of his eyes. He still believed the situation was hopeless but he had to at least try to survive. He couldn’t just give up. There was no way he would ever be seen as cool if he cowered in the corner while he hoped for a painless death. With newfound resolve, he began throwing his balls off the side of the boat.
Izuku used that moment to leap off the edge of the boat, channeling his inner Kacchan. “Die, you scumbag villains!” He screamed while firing off one hundred percent of his quirk into his finger, making a giant whirlpool just as he planned. The villains got sucked in and were stuck to each other thanks to Mineta’s quirk.
“Asui! Now!” Izuku yelled, his eyes filling up with tears because of his broken finger. Tsuyu wrapped her tongue around Izuku’s torso and carried him and Mineta to the shore.
Mineta looked over at Midoriya in awe. Midoriya had been just as scared as he was, but he was able to push aside that fear and not only make a plan to defeat the villains, but carry it out flawlessly. Midoriya was a first year student just like he was. He was scared just like he was and yet he was so much better than Mineta. Everybody thought Midoriya was cool. After this was over, he had to ask Midoriya what his secret was.
“I had a bowel movement this morning so those things will stick all day,” Mineta said, referring to his quirk. He had to avoid comparing himself to Midoriya right now. Those thoughts could come later.
“Midoriya, is your finger okay?” Tsuyu asked Izuku. “That was a pretty reckless move you pulled there.”
“Yeah,” Izuku said as he used his elbow pad as a makeshift splint for his finger. “Anyway, we should make getting help our top priority. It would be best to follow the shore and avoid the central plaza as we head towards the exit.”
“That’s true,” Tsuyu agreed, her eyes drawn to the central plaza where Aizawa was fighting. “Mr. Aizawa has drawn a large number of villains there.”
“He might’ve over exerted himself by jumping to fight all those villains for us,” Izuku said, inhaling shakily. He couldn’t stand by while one of the only teachers that had ever treated him fairly was being brutalized by villains. He knew that he was outnumbered and not only that, but the villains had a way to kill All Might. Aizawa was much weaker than All Might, so Izuku had no doubt that Aizawa was in grave danger. Izuku had All Might’s power now. It was up to him to stop the villains. Otherwise he’d be a terrible hero. He’d be responsible for his teacher’s death.
“Wait, Midoriya,” Mineta said, his voice shaking. “Don’t tell me you…stupid, stupid, stupid.”
“I’m not thinking of doing anything that will get in his way,” Izuku said, turning towards the central plaza with a determined look on his face. “But if we can find an opening and lessen Mr. Aizawa’s load even a little, then we have to do it.”
Shigaraki was proud of himself. He managed to figure out what Eraserhead’s tell was. In just a few more seconds, he would blink and his hair would fall back down. That’s when he’d strike. There was no need to kill the hero. He was an underground hero and frankly kinda cool. He’d just decay his arm to catch him off guard before Nomu could knock him out.
Shigaraki’s hand made contact with Eraserhead’s elbow the second Eraserhead blinked. “Sorry, Eraserhead,” he said with genuine remorse. “But you’re in my way.”
While Eraserhead was distracted, he instructed Nomu to slam his head into the ground, knocking him out. Shigaraki surveyed the battlefield. There was still no sign of All Might. That pissed him off. His one purpose was to come here to kill the Symbol of Peace and he didn’t even have the gall to show up. She would be laughing at him right now; Shigaraki knew it.
“My apologies, Shigaraki Tenko,” Kurogiri had said from behind him. “But one of the students has managed to escape.”
“Fuck me,” Shigaraki groaned. “Maybe that’ll mean that All Might will finally get here so I can end him in front of all these pathetic brats. Show them how fragile their Symbol of Peace really is.”
It was then that Shigaraki noticed the three UA brats hiding by the shoreline. He sighed. Did these brats have no self preservation instincts? He walked over to them, wondering how he should handle them. He said he wouldn’t kill the brats and he meant that. They weren’t the real problem with hero society, just byproducts of it. They just happened to be more privileged than he was and that wasn’t their fault. They were just kids. Pathetic, annoying, hero-infected brats, but still kids.
“Get the fuck away from here, brats,” Shigaraki spat out, his red eyes narrowing. “All Might will show up soon and unless you want to watch me end his life, I’d suggest running the fuck away.”
“I won’t let you kill him,” The green haired boy said despite his voice quivering in fear.
“Yeah?” Shigaraki scoffed at the brat. “I could kill every single person inside of the USJ right now, you realize that? But that’s not my quest. All Might is the final boss that I need to defeat to reach the next level of my plan to change society. But using my quirk would be too easy. I want him to suffer, don’t you see?!” Shigaraki was laughing maniacally now. He couldn’t help it. He was so close to tasting victory. Didn’t the brats see that?
All Might threw open the door. And he wasn’t smiling. But Shigaraki was. “Nomu, kill All Might.”
All Might ultimately won against the nomu, with a bit of aid from Todoroki and Bakugou at the beginning of the attack. But now he was out of time.
“He’s not any weaker at all,” Shigaraki pouted. “Did Sensei lie to me?”
“What’s wrong?” All Might taunted. “You’re not coming at me? Didn’t you say you’d defeat the final boss before clearing this level or something? Come and get me if you can.”
“All Might’s bluffing,” A feminine voice said into Shigaraki’s earpiece. “I’m looking at the cam footage right now. If he had strength left, he would’ve gone after you by now. But he’s just standing there trying to pull cheap scare tactics to get you to back off. If you and Kurogiri charge him, you can end this.”
“Thanks, Butterfly,” Shigaraki said, muting the earpiece. “Kurogiri, you know what to do.”
Shigaraki knew he could just decay the ground to kill All Might, but the bastard could jump in the air to avoid it and he risked killing his allies as well. He couldn’t exactly control the spread of Decay. So we could have Kurogiri warp his hands right next to All Might so he can just touch him directly.
“Get away from All Might!” The green haired brat from earlier screamed, two broken dangling limply behind him as he jumped in front of Shigaraki’s hands.
“Shit,” Shigaraki muttered, moving his hands at the last second so that he didn’t accidentally decay the kid. This kid was proving to be a real pain in the ass but he wasn’t here to kill children.
Before Shigaraki could properly tell the brat off for getting in his way, a bullet tore through his hand. Shigaraki let out a pitiful wail of pain as more bullets rained down on him, hitting both his legs and one of his arms before Kurogiri could warp him back to the base.
“Damn, those heroes got you good,” The woman said, laughing. “I guess we’re going with my plan now. Told you I was right.” She stuck her tongue out at him.
“Fuck you,” Shigaraki said, rolling his eyes. “Just shut up and heal me already.”
She carefully took the bullets out of Shigaraki’s body before placing both her hands on him to restore the rest of his body. It was always such a weird sensation, feeling his body grow back together. Her quirk really was amazing. It was the perfect counter to Shigaraki’s own. The two of them would be unstoppable, the perfect team.

Flufftober Day 23- Hold Me in Your Arms
Izuku caught his breath, feeling his gut twist with fear and horrified awe as he watched Touya rise into the air, propelled upwards by concentrated blasts of blue flame, the same technique he’d seen used by both Endeavor with his flames and Kacchan with his explosions
“He can fly?!” he cried aloud, to no one in particular, at least as far as he could tell. He could sense the presence of other people around him, but he couldn’t see them. The only person he could see was Shoto, across the battlefield from him, struggling to his feet while bleeding from a dozen nasty looking wounds.
Up above their heads, so far that he looked like nothing but a tiny black speck, Izuku saw Touya cease moving and hold himself still, hovering in mid air. He swore he could feel his cold blue gaze on him, and he realized that he must have been scanning the battlefield below him, searching for... something. Suddenly, he dived, and Izuku realized what- or rather who- he was after a split second too late.
“Shoto!” he screamed, calling up One For All to launch himself across the battlefield toward him, desperate to reach him before Touya did, knowing what he would do to him if he got his hands on him. He was half a second too late, his fingertips just brushing the fabric of Shoto’s costume before Touya snatched him away.
“No!” Izuku cried, and gave chase, using Float to pursue Touya as he returned to the air with Shoto in tow. He still didn’t have a lot of experience using Nana Shimura’s quirk, but he didn’t care. He had to catch Touya before he reached the apex of his flight with Shoto. He knew with sickening certainty what he would do once that point was reached, and he was even more certain that he couldn’t allow it to happen. He couldn’t lose Shoto. Not like this.
“Give him back!” he yelled, putting on a burst of speed to get within shouting distance of Touya, doing his best to supress the sudden flashbacks he had to the last time he’d been in a situation like this. Touya suddenly jerked upright and came to a halt, hovering in place, his fingers curled menacingly around Shoto’s neck.
“ ‘Give him back’?” he asked mockingly, parroting Izuku’s words back at him. “Alright then. Catch.” With a strength that was surprising, considering his thin, seemingly close to emaciated frame, he gripped Shoto by the collar and hurled him into the space between himself and Izuku, whereupon gravity immediately took over to pull him toward the ground far below them. Izuku moved quickly to intercept him, but his relative inexperience with Float proved to be his downfall- he didn’t know how to brace himself against impacts in midair, and when Shoto slammed into him, the jolt of the collision drove them apart, and though Izuku reached desperately for Shoto as he began to fall again, his hand closed on empty air. Then, in one final act of malice, Touya hurled a fireball at Shoto as he fell. He screamed in agony as he ignited with fire not his own, and his plummeted to the ground, burning like a phoenix as he fell. But unlike a phoenix, he would not rise again.
“Shoto!” Izuku cried, sitting bolt upright in bed. Beside him, there came the quiet rustle of sheets, and then Shoto’s arms were around him, drawing him gently back down onto the bed.
“Ssssh,” he whispered in Izuku’s ear, his warm breath tickling his neck. “It’s alright. I’m here.” A broken sob clawed its way out of Izuku’s chest, and he rolled over to cling tightly to Shoto, his overactive amygdala refusing to let him accept that the nightmare was over until he could hold the man he loved in his arms and feel him breathe and know that he was okay.
“It’s alright,” Shoto whispered, rubbing soothing circles on Izuku’s back as he cried. “It’s alright. I’m here. I’m okay.” Izuku choked back another sob at that, this one of relief. Shoto continued to rub his back and murmur reassurances, the creature comforts he was in desperate need of in that moment, until at last he was able to regain his composure.
“Nightmare?” Shoto asked softly once he’d calmed.
“Yeah,” Izkuk whispered hoarsely.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Shoto asked, running his fingers through Izuku’s hair.
“No,” he said, wrapping his arms more tightly around Shoto and leaning further into the protective circle of his embrace. “I just want you to hold me.”

bakudeku inuyasha au? with like proto!deku as kikyo lol
A/N: I will admit I last saw Inuyasha in like the fourth grade or something and don’t remember much beyond the general plot so I decided to focus on good ole’ reincarnation angst :P Shoutout to @thermopylod for reading through
****
He’s not Yamikumo, Katsuki tells himself fiercely. He’s not Yamikumo, he thinks as he watches him play in the grass with a kite with Kouta and Eri. He’s just fucking Deku.
Yamikumo used to smile softly, a shy thing, hidden behind his bangs and shared like a secret. Deku’s smile stretches from ear to ear, open and bright and just there. For everyone. Just like that.
Yamikumo’s eyes had been green like a forest, hooded like a cat’s. Full of mischief and promise. Deku doesn’t have a mischievous bone in his body, so fucking pure and earnest. If he compared Yamikumo’s eyes to a forest, then Deku’s are like emeralds. Round, bright, and usually sparkling because the nerd’s always on the verge of tears.
…Fuck, now he’s waxing poetic. This is what he’s been reduced to.
“Kacchan!” Deku calls suddenly, waving at him. “A little help, please?”
Katsuki glances up, broken out of his thoughts. The kite they’d been playing with is stuck, caught on the highest branches of a particularly tall tree.
Katsuki forces a scoff. “Get it yourself, shitty Deku,” he yells back.
“It’s Izuku,” he hears a grumbled murmur. “Please?” Deku tries again. “It would mean a lot to Eri-chan!”
Less prideful, Katsuki notes. So quick to ask for help. Yamikumo had never asked, always determined to prove himself. Katsuki had learnt not to offer. Even at the very end, on opposite ends of the battlefield, Yamikumo had refused help in facing Katsuki.
‘My mistake to fix,’ he’d coldly declared, raising his half of their master’s sword.
“Leave it alone,” Kouta snipes rudely. “Of course he’s not going to help.”
Eri’s lower lip trembles a little and she tugs at Deku’s hip mournfully. Brat.
“It’s okay,” Deku reassures her softly. “It’s alright.”
Not as reserved with his emotions. Not a warrior-in-training with the weight of his tribe’s legacy on his shoulders. A spoilt little ‘school child,’ allowed to be free.
“I’ll go get it for you,” Deku promises, ruffling her hair, heedless of the horn marking her as a demon.
Just as stupidly, stupidly reckless, Katsuki thinks grimly, watching Deku roll up his sleeves and start to climb the tree with narrowed eyes.
Katsuki will give the kid this; he’s improved a lot since he came to this world. He’s still clumsy as fuck, he notes as Deku grapples for handholds among the branches, but he’s learning to be quick on his feet.
Deku manages to reach the highest branch somehow, what a surprising miracle, but then he just…stops. Katsuki straightens up from the tree he was leaning against, eyes straining to see what the fuck the idiot’s up to now but…
His eyes are closed, a soft smile on his lips while the wind plays through his hair. Deku looks…soft. Vulnerable. Almost as divine as his heritage is supposed to be. And somehow, Katsuki’s dead heart skips a beat at the sight.
“What’s the holdup over there?” the Kouta brat complains, and whatever spell had overtaken Deku breaks. He shakes his head and inches forward across the branch to try to catch the kite. Katsuki has to look away, take a moment to understand what the fuck just happened.
He presses his palm over his chest, feeling his heartbeat, trying to calm it down.
Instead he feels it skip again when Eri shrieks.
Katsuki looks up sharply, just in time to see Deku tumbling through the leaves. He doesn’t think, just reacts in an instant, flinging his arms behind to blast himself upwards.
Katsuki’s practiced at this, there’s no one alive who has better control over their abilities than he does, but that knowledge does nothing to keep the panic of being too late at bay. He flies through the air, grasping Deku around his waist and tugging him close with an arm. The other hand, he points downwards to create an explosion to slow their descent.
He’s too distracted to control their fall properly—and he only has one good hand anyway—so they end up falling messily in a heap on the forest floor. Katsuki’s back hits the forest floor first, knocking the breath clean out of his chest, but at least it breaks Deku’s fall.
For a moment, they stay like that, stunned and breathing heavily. Deku’s face is pressed into Katsuki’s shoulder. When he raises his head and meets Katsuki’s eyes, he looks stunned, green eyes glassy and welling up already. Abruptly, Katsuki realizes that Deku’s hands are trapped between their chests. That he can feel how fast Katsuki’s heart is beating.
“Get the fuck off, Useless,” he growls, but in the limited space between their lips, it comes out as a whisper. Deku doesn’t move.
Gods, just kill him now.
“Hey! Are you guys okay?”
It’s Kouta’s voice that finally has Deku scrambling and stumbling off him. He’s red as a tomato and he stumbles a bit while moving towards the brats but then he dutifully drops to his knees and holds out his hands for Eri to fall into. The kid’s trembling all over from the scare and Kouta’s not much better.
“Kacchan,” Deku turns his head to smile at him, genuine and heartfelt. “Thank you so much,” he says.
Katsuki looks away. Deku’s not Yamikumo. He’s not. So why does he still make Katsuki feel this way?

Kiribaku Month - Day 13: Insecurities
Wordcount: 1810 words (h o w)
Here’s my contribution to @kiribakumonth2019 for Insecurities.
Fun fact: I’ve come up with the plot while I was working on training, and I almost forgot about the theme while I figured out the details. I still like what I’ve come up with, but it’s so long that I didn’t get to work on it as much as I wanted.
I hope you’ll enjoy it!
Day 13: Insecurities
“Blasty, Deku, did you find them?” was the first thing Kacchan heard as he stepped into the Resistance camp, carrying the pain in the ass invisible android on his back.
“We’ve found Tooru, thanks to Mei’s radar,” Deku announced.
“What about the other?”
“Dead,” Kacchan said as he put Camo Girl on a bed to be examined.
She was alive when they found her, but she was still weak and broken. She stopped being his fucking problem as soon as she was off his back, though.
He looked up and saw Shitty Hair’s pained look, his big sad eyes broadcasting his feelings for all to see. Weak. Showing your eyes was a fucking weakness.
“I’m sorry, Eijirou,” Deku said softly, and it was clear from his voice alone that he’d look just like Shitty Hair, if half his face wasn’t covered. “It was too late when we found him. He took the brunt of an attack to protect Tooru.”
Shitty Hair didn’t say anything. He simply frowned, and it could have meant a lot of things. That he was mad at them for not bringing the two androids back alive, or at the machines for killing one of his underlings, or at himself for whatever shitty, illogical reason.
Kacchan knew it was the latter, because Shitty Hair was that stupid. And because he wasn’t looking at Deku or him, or at the entrance of the camp, where the machines roamed. He was staring at the ground silently, lost in thoughts. Weak.
Kacchan walked closer and gave him the dog tags he’d found on the android’s body. He didn’t care what Shitty Hair thought, or how he was feeling, so he really had no idea why he spoke.
“I’m surprised you’ve only lost one extra so far.”
“It’s one too many. I should have done better,” Shitty Hair said. “I should have sent more people, or sent a search party earlier…”
“Shut up, you sound like fucking Deku,” Kacchan interrupted. He couldn’t tell if Shitty Hair was offended by the remark. “You did what you had to, but shit happens. S’not your fault you’re built so weak.”
This time, it was clear that Shitty Hair was very offended. His frown intensified, his angry look clearly directed at Kacchan. That was better.
“Fight me,” Shitty Hair demanded.
“What?” Kacchan asked. He expected the other to yell, no this.
“Spar with me, Blasty. Fight me. You’ll see if I’m weak.”
The way Eijirou spat the last word revealed his sharp teeth, and they looked as menacing as the first time Kacchan had seen him get angry. Dangerous. Perfect.
“Fine, you’re on!” he grinned.
He followed Shitty Hair toward the currently deserted training grounds, and he was surprised that no one followed them.
“The rules are simple: first one to immobilize the other wins,” Shitty Hair explained. “If you seriously injure the other, you’re disqualified. Questions?”
“Fine by me,” Kacchan shrugged. The second rule would probably be harder for him to follow, but he could understand where it came from.
Then, to his surprise, Shitty Hair’s blank, furious look morphed into a playful smile, and he added:
“How about we spice things up a little?”
“What are you thinking about?” Kacchan asked, confused.
“Let’s see… If I win, I get to take off your blindfold,” Shitty Hair had the nerve to say with a happy, innocent fucking smile, as if it wasn’t a big deal.
“What the fuck? No!” Kacchan protested.
“Why? You’re afraid you’re going to lose?” Shitty Hair smirked.
Kacchan knew that he was fucking with him, but he didn’t give a shit. Like hell he was going to lose! He was YuUEi’s best Battle unit. How did Shitty Hair even expect to win against him?
“I just think it’s fucking stupid,” he said. “What do I get when I win?”
“Oh, ‘when’ you win, huh? Well, what do you want?”
“Fucking nothing, so we’re not doing it.”
There was something in Shitty Hair’s eyes again. A disappointment that seemed to run deeper than just this interaction. He was so easy to read, yet Kacchan didn’t fucking get him most of the time. What the fuck did this asshole want from him?
“Aw, Kacchan, you’re no fun,” Shitty Hair pouted.
“Don’t fucking call me that,” Kacchan replied by habit.
Maybe it was his chance to finally understand what was going on in Shitty Hair’s ancient, fucked up circuits… Not that Kacchan cared, but the constant sad looks for no fucking reason were annoying as hell.
“You know what? Fucking fine. When I win, I want you to answer a question. And I want the complete fucking truth.”
Shitty Hair’s eyes lightened up for a second, but he seemed to hesitate.
“You’re scared ’cause you know you’re gonna fucking lose?” Kacchan smirked.
The taunt worked like a charm.
“Deal, Blasty. Let’s do this!”
Kacchan realized after the first minute that his victory wasn’t going to be an easy one. He knew Shitty Hair used to be the equivalent of a Defense unit and that he’d have to hit hard to take him down, but he counted on his speed and mobility to make up for it, and it didn’t work. Sure, Shitty Hair had been on the defensive since the fight started, but he was way stronger than Kacchan expected, and he blocked and avoided his moves as if he knew them already.
If Kacchan feigned an attack to the left and moved at the last second, Eijirou was already blocking to the right. If Kacchan managed to sneak up behind him, Eijirou was back on his feet before Kacchan could land a second hit. How the hell could he predict his movements with such accuracy? Defense units weren’t supposed to be good analysts, and Shitty Hair had never seen him fight since he arrived.
Of course, Kacchan knew that YuUEi soldiers could be predictable. After all, all Battle units were programmed with the same moves. However, the way they used them varied from unit to unit, and Kacchan had been on the battlefield long enough to develop his own style, based more on jumps and acrobatics than other Battle units he knew. Even if Eijirou had learned a thing or two from the previous YuUEi android he’d worked with, there was no way he’d be able to understand Kacchan’s fighting style so well in barely a few seconds. Also, Eijirou had no right being so fucking strong! He didn’t only have the knowledge, he also had the skills to act on it.
The fight kept going, and neither of them was losing ground. Kacchan still took it as a sign of defeat. He should have won within the first minute. His sole purpose was killing machines, while Shitty Hair spent his days giving orders from the Resistance camp. He barely even left it!
So sure, Kacchan knew that if the “no breaking” rule hadn’t existed, he’d have obliterated Shitty Hair already. But knowing that he couldn’t bring him down enraged him, and thrilled him at the same time.
He tried to attack from above, a sneaky move he hadn’t used since the beginning of the fight, but Eijirou grabbed his ankle and slammed him to the ground. He then quickly pinned Kacchan down, rendering him unable to move.
“I win,” he grinned above him, his body so hot against Kacchan that he wondered how he was still conscious.
“Fine, you’re not fucking weak,” Kacchan admitted reluctantly. “Now fucking let me go.”
Eijirou’s eyes lingered on his face, and Kacchan wondered once more what the hell he was thinking about. Then, Eijirou got up and offered a hand that Kacchan refused, preferring to stand up on his own. He missed the contact as soon as it was gone, and blamed it on the thrill of the fight.
“So… I get my reward,” Shitty Hair said, the shyness and hesitation in his voice contrasting with the pure confidence and determination he exuded during the fight.
Kacchan tensed. He’d forgotten about that. Why did he even say yes? Cursing his past self for being such a fucking idiot, he slowly raised his hands to grab the hem of his blindfold. He hesitated, almost. He really hated exposing his fucking eyes. Maybe normal shitty androids had no problem showing whatever emotions they had to everyone, but Kacchan wasn’t supposed to feel anything, and he certainly didn’t want anyone to see whatever his eyes might reveal. But they had a deal, and he wasn’t fucking scared anyway.
He stopped when he felt Eijirou’s hands on his, and he didn’t fucking flinch.
“Let me. The deal was that I’d get to take it off, after all,” Eijirou said.
Kacchan nodded, lowering his hands. This was even worse, but there was something about Eijirou’s hands on his face, caressing his cheeks as his fingers expertly took the black piece of cloth off. It almost felt familiar. What the fuck?
“Open your eyes,” Eijirou asked softly.
Kacchan sighed, but complied anyway. He wasn’t a fucking coward. And Eijirou had earned it.
Soft. Eijirou had no right being this fucking soft after beating him to the ground, and yet he looked like a completely different android. His honest eyes, his roundish cheeks, the way his hand lingered on Kacchan’s face, his tiny smile, his voice… everything was fucking soft, and Kacchan wasn’t ready.
What did Eijirou see on Kacchan’s face that deserved such softness? What kind of weakness did he find in Kacchan’s eyes? Why did he look so much more fucking real without the black barrier between them?
Fuck, that’s why Kacchan hated taking off the damn blindfold.
“Are you fucking satisfied now, Eijirou?” he asked, hiding his weakness behind a veil of irritation.
Eijirou’s smile widened, blinding in its brightness. Kacchan regretted the blindfold more than ever.
“Yes,” he whispered. “And I’m so happy you’re calling me Eijirou.”
His voice was so low, like the words were just for Kacchan’s ears, and it made him feel so. Fucking. Weak.
Fuck, he hadn’t even realized he’d called Shitty Hair by his name!
“Good. I’m putting it back on,” Kacchan growled. Well… croaked. “Shitty Hair,” he added, just because he could.
“Aw, come on, you were doing so well…” Shitty Hair pouted.
“You’ll have to fucking earn it,” Kacchan said before he could think any better.
Eijirou smiled.
“Next time I win, you’ll have to call me Eijirou,” he said.
Kacchan wasn’t planning to lose a second time, and he was certainly going to find out how the fuck Shitty Hair had learned about his fighting style. He didn’t spend enough time with shitty Deku, so it couldn’t be the fucking nerd. Plus, Kacchan had seen some Resistance members fight, and he’d been surprised to see them move like YuUEi units.
“Next time, I’m kicking your ass.”
There was something weird, and Kacchan wouldn’t stop until he got to the bottom of this shit.

BnHA Chapter 202: Rival Break and the 3rd Set
Previously on BnHA: Momo made a giant cannon and used it to fire a bag of emergency supplies over the onomatopoeia wall back to her pals. The bag contained some fungicide which Tokoyami and Hagakure doused themselves with to ward off Toadette’s horrific quirk. It also contained a pair of night vision goggles which Toko used to track down Toadette and Kuroiro. For a moment it looked like he had them both contained, but then Toadette sprouted some mushrooms in Toko’s fucking windpipe, cutting off his air supply and causing him to release them. Meanwhile Kendou showed up to rescue Manga from Hagakure’s flurry of invisible attacks. She’d managed to knock Momo out, but not before Momo sprouted a bunch of steel cables from her left side to tie Kendou up and attach herself to her while she herself was still attached to the giant cannon. So basically she slowed her way down, and tbh they would have had this if Hagakure and Tokoyami (and Aoyama, who got captured before any of them) hadn’t dropped the ball. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. But anyway, so the round went to B Team, and now the classes are tied and we’re about to move into the third round.
Today on BnHA: Since Momo and Kendou’s teams absolutely trashed the battlefield, Aizawa and Vlad announce a short break before the start of round 3. All Might takes Deku aside and asks him if things are all right with his quirk. Deku says he’s fine, only to be interrupted by Kacchan who’s all THE FUCK ARE Y’ALL DOING HAVING THIS WEIRD CONVERSATION SO CONSPICUOUSLY and he makes them fill him in. Kacchan’s response to the whole OFA situation is to basically egg Deku on to become stronger already, and it fucking works is the thing, so y’all know this one-page conversation is easily the most “!!!!” I’ve been about this series in fucking ages omg. But anyways, so then round 3 starts up with Team TetsuPonyHoneSen VS Team TodoIidaShoujiRo. Shouto briefly thinks back to when he was like six fucking years old and Endeavor was trying to teach him a new fire technique by being an abusive dick. Shockingly this method didn’t pan out, but Shouto’s been thinking about it again recently since watching his dad battle the Noumu at Fukuoka. Meanwhile Iida is hyped to win since he’s representing his brother as the successor to the Ingenium name. And Tetsu is also hyped because he’s always fucking hyped! So basically everyone is getting ready to do their best and this should be good!
(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my mostly-unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’m caught up with the manga now at chapter 223, so any ETAs will reflect that.)
oh wow Toadette is actually offering Tokoyami a throat lozenge like I was joking about earlier. haha. only the reason it was a joke on my part is because I thought it was fairly obvious that a fucking lozenge wasn’t exactly going to do much to help after you sprouted fucking mushrooms all along the inside of his goddamn windpipe! these kids are fucking savages I swear to god. they’re out for blood
anyways he’s still coughing and hacking and she’s telling him to go see Recovery Girl before this turns into one of those hanahaki fics
meanwhile Momo also appears to be ill after using her quirk as much as she did, and she’s shaking and doesn’t seem to be able to stand, so two sarcastic asshole robots are wheeling her off to RG as well
yeah I’m gonna need you two to shut up. were they specifically programmed to be douches? this is someone’s idea of a joke isn’t it
anyways I hope my girl Momo is gonna be okay. Kendou go with her please!
Shinsou’s all “wow everyone got really fucked up” and Aizawa’s just like “yeah that’s just how it goes with hero training” as though this is in any way acceptable lol. well I guess it’s been a little while since U.A. did anything outrageously irresponsible though, so maybe we can cut them some slack this time around. plus ultra?
(ETA: nope I take it back. within three chapters all four teachers will be idly standing by shrugging their shoulders and hoping none of the kids fucking burn to death by accident. lesson learned, never ever cut the U.A. faculty any slack whatsoever.)
btw I almost forgot to mention it but it’s super cute that Shinsou is hanging out next to Aizawa. they have clearly built up some kind of bond by this point, and as usual I’m delighted by any and all instances of Aizawa being a dad
looool
did I mention that Manga’s quirk is seriously unbelievably strong though?? is there an onomatopoeia for “All for One-destroying weapon” that I don’t know about that he could speak into existence perhaps? hmm?
also smh at these teachers being more concerned with the property damage than with the attempted murder. Tokoyami’s fine by the way. but sure let’s scold them for doing some mild damage to your industrial training site which you specifically created for this very purpose
so apparently they’re going to change the stage? or “move the stage” at any rate? does this mean they’re cleaning up the training ground, or are they moving to one of the other areas? I’m not quite clear here
but at any rate, Vlad says they’re going to take a short break which I’m all for because it means more chances for the kids to interact!
look at them interacting!!
so I’m just going to assume the two speech bubbles on the right are Kirishima and Tetsutetsu, yes?
also, Manga, I’m gonna need you to stop whining about how your ultra-powerful and crazy broken quirk gives you a sore throat. fuck outta here with that nonsense son. I assume the only reason no one gave OFA to you is because the series would already be over
Deku is happily taking notes on everyone’s growth while Ochako watches, and it’s super fucking cute. I am shipping this more these days now that she’s not losing her damn mind any time she thinks about him and he’s not on the verge of passing out whenever she gets within two feet of him
and now All Might’s coming to say hi to his apprentice!
are y’all gonna talk some more about the Avatar State. because if you are then I’m the one who’s gonna start taking notes omg
so he’s beckoning Deku over so they can have a quick private chat in the corner
Mina’s all “well aren’t they close~” and I know she’s just making a mild observation, but once again I’m reminded of how these two are just the absolute worst at hiding their secret. like for real though
so All Might’s asking Deku if anything has felt off since their last conversation
and Deku says “nothing in particular”, which is a bit of a curious answer since he could have just gone with a straight “no”
All Might says he’s planning to ask Gran whether or not Shimura ever mentioned anything. I doubt it though, otherwise you’d think he’d have brought it up before now. not everyone is as cagey as you when it comes to passing on vital information
anyways, he says for the time being Deku should take care since he’ll be facing off with Shinsou
and interestingly, he says Shinsou is a piece of the puzzle as far as the Vestiges/Traces are concerned
really? I mean it’s true that Deku first saw them during his initial fight with Shinsou, and now he just so happens to be fighting Shinsou again on the same day that he had that crazy dream. but is that not just a coincidence? how could Shinsou actually be involved with this?
OH MY GOD
(ETA: speaking of onomatopoeia, Kacchan has his very own complete with exclamation point lol. what happens if Manga uses this. do the letters explode)
KEEP KACCHAN IN THE LOOP 2K19!!!! OH MY GOD YES PLEASE THANK YOU MANGA GODS
holy shit I was wondering if he was gonna get annoyed since he could hardly fail to notice them sneaking off to chat while he was right fucking there
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
OH MY GOD YOU GUYSSSSSS
IT DID!!!! AND NOW THEY’RE FINALLY GONNA TELL HIM WHEEEEE
oh my god. Kacchan/Deku rivalry. it has been so fucking long you guys. it’s been 80 fucking chapters!!
things I love:
DON’T KEEP ANY MORE SECRETS FROM KACCHAN ABOUT ONE FOR ALL, HE OFFICIALLY GETS ANNOYED ABOUT IT. HE WANTS TO KNOW SO MAKE SURE YOU KEEP HIM POSTED
for reals though, he’s making sure they remember that he’s part of the OFA squad now. that wasn’t just a one-time thing, he wants to actively be involved. I don’t know if they actually realized this before, but now they’re aware so I hope Deku tells him the next time without having to be asked
also him yelling at them to be more fucking secretive for christ’s sake lol. RIGHT?
and him immediately getting competitive and reminding Deku of what his goals are. they always do this with each other, and it’s honestly so important. the shounen rival relationship is, at its core, one of constant growth. if done right, the two rivals will each be the one person who can always unfailingly push the other when they think they can’t go any further, and nudge the other back on track whenever they start to go astray. and that is so, so important, and it’s especially important for them to keep establishing this relationship now, when for once things are actually calm and there aren’t any villain plots or other angsty things going down for the time being. because this quiet period is not going to last. and there will come a time when Izuku will need this type of push again, when the fate of the world might even depend on it. they help each other to focus and they keep each other grounded, and this shit right here is why it’s my favorite relationship, and I can’t say enough good things about it
lastly, this is fairly subtle, but you can see that this is Katsuki’s way of reassuring him. like, he realized Izuku was... not unsettled, exactly, but certainly confused and still trying to figure out what the hell is going on. so he immediately sets onto distracting him. and I’ve gotten completely distracted by my own excited ramblings and I haven’t even finished the damn conversation yet, but I bet you anything that it worked, too. because that’s the power of rivals, dammit
yeppppp
I fucking love it you guys. every damn time. this is what keeps sucking me back in. this is why I’m reading. give me some good old fashioned shounen rivals showing their concern for one another in the most indirect way possible and it fucking works
PREACH IT ALL MIGHT!
NO, HE DEFINITELY IS. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I’M SAYING. SEE, ALL MIGHT GETS IT
like, I don’t really have much more to add other than what I already said, lol. although I will say I’m fairly sure that not only is he not actually pissed off, but he’s actually relieved that Deku did smile, and it was the exact effect he was going for, which is why he called attention to it before immediately trying to play it off like h was mad
anyway, so that was everything to me you guys, but the show must go on, and we are now all set to begin round 3! and it looks like we will be staying in Ground Gamma and that they’ve just relocated to a different part of the stage, or something. idk
so Sen is the only guy in this round who we haven’t already met, although I don’t think we actually know Pony’s quirk. Honenuki’s quirk is of course the quicksand quirk of cavalry battle fame, and I’m looking forward to seeing that in action again
meanwhile they’re up against these legends!
once again I can’t for the life of me figure out how they can possibly screw this up. but we know they will somehow! guess they’ll just have to get creative
and now a quick flashback of Tokoyami, who you can tell is feeling better because he’s coming up to Todoroki and just rambling on and on for no real reason
no you don’t you boob. calm the fuck down man. go eat some ice cream and lie down
well what have we here
friendly reminder that I ship these two. by this point I think I ship Todoroki with almost as many people as Bakugou and I’m not quite sure how that happened. this boy is more social than I give him credit for
so now Shouto’s thinking back to his dad’s battle against High N’ Tight Noumu
and what’s this?
the prominence burn thing? or the flying thing? I personally think he ought to learn the flying thing first
and now some flashbacks to Endeavor being abusive
jesus christ. please tell me Shouto is smoking from his own quirk. please tell me you didn’t actually set your child on fire you utter trashpile of a man
and what the hell is with the shinai? because the fire wasn’t fucking enough??
props to Horikoshi though for showing this. it’s not pleasant to see, but the fact that he doesn’t shy away from it even after starting Endeavor’s redemption arc is really important. none of his past deeds have been erased. he’s not pretending it didn’t happen or that it’s okay now because things are finally starting to get better. it’s such a fucking mess, and I really, really appreciate that we’re being confronted with it even now and nothing is being swept under any proverbial rugs
correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like this is pretty rare for redemption arcs, both in Eastern and Western media. usually once the former bad guy starts down the right path, the story stops addressing those past sins, presumably in the hope that audiences will eventually forget about them. but not only is Horikoshi not doing that, he’s actively showing us the bad shit again in vivid detail, the resulting effect being something like “hey, just in case you forgot...”
anyway, so here’s more confirmation that Todoroki Touya is in fact Dabi
just fucking confirm it already you cowards. it’s not like you’re trying to hide it; you purposely alluded to it so overtly at the end of the Endeavorhawks arc that no one could possibly fail to miss it. so I really don’t know why you’re playing games with it at this juncture. he must have some sort of plan here but idk
anyway, he says that Shouto is the one, and that he can pass this technique on to him and only him
I wonder if Touya accidentally immolated himself with a failed prominence burn. god I want to know what happened so bad uggghhhh
ahhhhhhh
they’re so cute omg
Ojiro says he had no idea anything was wrong because Todoroki’s expression “never really changes that much”, and he’s impressed Iida could tell
it’s because they’re lovers, Ojiro! but not really, but do you agree with me that they should be? because if not then I really don’t know why you’re wasting my time here tail boy
Iida’s all “but of course!” and says he’s the class president and is always there to lend a hand to a classmate in need. and sure. but also, lovers
AHHHHHH
SUDDEN TENSEI MENTION MY HEART WASN’T READYYYY
(ETA: his face is so cute here too oh my god. fucking adorable.)
so now he’s putting on his helmet, and he says he’s also representing Ingenium’s good name
is this in reference to what Tokoyami said earlier about him and Todo representing the #1 and #2 heroes? did your feelings get hurt bud lol
and he’s reminding everyone that he placed third in the sports festival, “so allow me to show you all!”
damn, somebody sure is fired up
you better watch it son, this enthused 40-year-old nerd is stealing your boyfriend before our very eyes
now we’re cutting to class B!
and Tetsutetsu is also all fired up!
no one thinks you’re dumb, Tetsu! just passionate!
lol but he is acknowledging that this is one of the less strategically balanced class B teams
but he has a plan to address that!
kick some ass!!
yessssssss
and stfu Sen. he has exactly one specialty so of course he’s gonna lean into it. nothing wrong with that
now I’m honestly starting to wonder how he would fare against Todoroki. he might be the only one who could actually stand up to the Prominence Burn attack if it turns out Shouto does have it
...or he might melt. but surely Shouto wouldn’t actually fire a potentially lethal blow during a training exercise... right?
(ETA: ...)
so now Vlad is grumbling about how THEY JUST SAID not to destroy the whole fucking stage, and here Tetsu is, destroying the stage
nice hero name! but it definitely is a misspelling! I’m sure it’ll be corrected at some point later on though
lol this group is something else
this is definitely my favorite class B team to date lol. and Honenuki’s personality is in such stark contrast to his somewhat terrifying appearance, who knew
also props to my boy Sen for having the appropriate reaction to being pitted against Todoroki freaking Shouto. though you could have had it worse, bud! it could have been Bakugou or Deku. at least you guys are somehow going to win which I still can’t get over
lol because it’s literally their only choice given the makeup of their team
well, bring it on!

If you're doing fics for lines, I've got one. Any fandom you want. -"Yeah, I'm sure. Bedrock solid and blue sky certain."
THIS ONE took forever. Not because I didn’t have an idea for it, but due to having too many. BUT HERE WE ARE I FINALLY SETTLED.
Izuku’s breath shook just as much as his hands did.
He’d never seen one up close before. Nobody had. It was called a ‘Nightfury’ known for being able to blend into the sky and strike like the mighty lightning of Thor. It knew no bounds, had no limits, was a rare sight on the battlefield, and had a flee on sight, a ‘hide and pray’ approach in every book Izuku had ever read.
And Izuku was the idiot that was about to poke one with a stick.
Or well. Figuratively.
It was his fault anyway, he owed it to the dragon to at least go check on it. He was the one to shoot it down.
Still. His hands shook.
He kept himself low to the ground and tried to breathe through the anxiety.
(His Mother was going to kill him if she ever- when she eventually- found out)
If his calculations were correct- and they always were- the dragon should be…right….there.
Izuku followed the destroyed earth, tracking the trail right up to the cove, and over the edge.
The dragon was stuck in the hole, because he was missing part of his tail.
Izuku leaned heavily against the rock of the cliffs heaving for breath. He was-
That was terrifying.
A slow, perplexed grin worked its way over his face. The dragon had allowed him close. Had accepted- and shared, though that part was rather disgusting- his food. Izuku had managed to attach the prosthetic device to the dragons- he needed a name- tail and it worked.
Sort of.
It needed work, but it would allow the dragon to fly.
Izuku shoved his wet bangs out of his face with a cough. “Always need to have the last laugh don’t you? I’m going to call you Katsuki. It means victory. Kacchan for short!”
Izuku had never felt so free, so alive, as he did when he was really truly flying with Kacchan.
Their practice runs had been nothing like this. The wind in his hair, the flex of scale and muscle under his legs, the feel of pressure as Izuku had to strain to stay on the saddle. The constant instinctive awareness of how to move his foot, so that he could help Kacchan fly.
It was….
Exhilarating.
Izuku never really got into a fight with his villagers. He was made fun of, of course, being a member of a warrior village who….wasn’t. He was often shoved around by his peers, sneered at by the less friendly adults, and pitied by most.
Izuku was fully aware of those facts.
But….he was doing well. He was more informed about dragons than even the most blooded warrior of his village, and he was causing problems with his peer group. Most didn’t like that the ‘Deku’- the useless- of the class was suddenly doing so much better than any of them.
And frankly?
Izuku didn’t give a damn.
He’d discovered everything they knew was wrong, he’d tasted the sky, the wind, the rush, of flying with his partner.
Izuku loved Kacchan. He was his best friend, and if Izuku may not have stood up for himself, but if he had to fight for Kacchan? Izuku would do it.
Without Question.
Izuku plastered himself to Kacchan’s back, fingers digging into the saddle handles as wide terrified eyes focused on the beast before him. It was larger than anything Izuku had ever seen, than any dragon ever recorded before. Larger than the mountain, and hiding in the very lava of the volcano. It’s scales were black as night, and as far as Izuku could see it had no eyes- skin stretched taunt over the place they may have once been, scars trailing over its face and chest.
And still it-
It was monstrous and like nothing he had ever seen.
Izuku knew his village had been searching for centuries for the Dragon’s Nest, but as he looked at the King that ruled it, he knew none of his village would survive if they chose to fight.
Izuku would never tell them where the Nest stood, would never mention what he had found “Kacchan,” his voice shook as he whispered and watched the ears flick in his direction “let’s go Kacchan, come on.”
Red eyes flickered in his direction, but Kacchan threw himself off the cliff-side they had hidden inside and turned them back towards the cove.
Izuku had failed.
They were going to fight that creature.
His village, his people were going to die, and Kacchan had been taken. Taken to lead them all like lambs to slaughter.
But….
Izuku turned towards the training grounds.
If he did something utterly mad, he might just have a chance.
“And where,” a voice chirped right behind him “do you think you’re going?”
Izuku jerked but narrowed his eyes “Uraraka-san, please move. I need to save everyone, and I won’t let you stop me.”
Uraraka eyed him, Iida-kun, Todoroki-kun, and Tsu-chan standing behind her, all of them staring at him like they had never seen him before.
“Are you sure, Midoriya?”
Izuku turned towards Tsu at the question, nodding firmly, straightening to his full height as he answered “Yes. Yes, bedrock solid, and blue sky certain.”
(There’s a shift as he utters the words that had always been an oath in everything but name in their village. A promise, something inescapably true to the person speaking. As solid as the bedrock that protected the foundations of their village, and as certain as their ancestors had been that they would see a ‘blue sky’ at the end of their quest, that it was possible one day, to win against the dragons.)
The students- his peers- trade glances and then Todoroki speaks up “You’re not doing it alone.”
Izuku meets each of their eyes, and sees his determination reflected back.
‘Bedrock solid’ their eyes scream out at him ‘Blue sky certain’ their stances firm.
Izuku smiles “You’re going to need to listen well then, let’s go!”
It’s madness when the arrive, flying over the battlefield.
-And it is a battlefield.
There’s dead and dying, easily spotted in the sky, fire and screams that echo and cut out suddenly. Dragons swarm through the air, ignoring the humans underneath them, and it’s obvious why.
That thing, the King, the Black Death, that Izuku had seen with Kacchan was loose and rampaging. His lack of eyes didn’t seem to hinder him at all, even beyond his area of effect.
“Alright!” he takes control of the situation, yelling to be heard over the chaos “Iida! Take Ingenium and start evacuating the wounded! Move them to the far side of the island! Todoroki, your with him- work defense! You want to keep Iida and any wounded safe! Tsu! You’re the distraction! Keep a level head, and don’t get hit!”
Tsu nodded sharply, breaking off to help draw the King’s attention from the feeling villagers. Izuku turned to face Uraraka. “We need to find Kacchan! And then you can help Tsu! The less attention the King pays to the villagers the more likely they are to live!”
It was a good life right?
Izuku thought it was.
Sure he hadn’t been having the greatest time, had been sort of pathetic before Kacchan, but these last months?
Izuku wouldn’t trade them for anything.
As he plummeted towards an explosion, perfectly aware it would be his last moments, he couldn’t help but smile.
Falling was kind of….peaceful, if one ignored the sudden stop at the end. It was like riding with Kacchan. He was just sorry his friends would survive this, and probably feel guilty.
(His father was gone- supposedly on a quest, but he had never returned- and his mother had been lost in a dragon raid long ago. He was an orphan, though Aizawa-sensei had long ago told him he was in line to be Chief when he was ready.
Looked like they would need a new Chief.)
He heard a roar of anger and rage, and his eyes snapped open.
Kacchan was diving for him, wings folded back, paws extended and furious focus in red eyes.
Izuku smiled, and reached back.

Late IzuOcha Week 2018 Day 5: Strength/Weakness
Strength/Weakness
Izuku Midoriya and Ochako Uraraka were on the battlefield outside of the school. Uraraka started kicking Midoriya’s legs, but he was able to evade, jump behind Uraraka, and send her down to the ground with an amateur wrestling style takedown. Midoriya sprung back to his feet while Uraraka sat up to catch her breath.
“Nice work today, Ochako. I can see that Gunhead martial arts training coming through. Your striking has gotten better as well,” Midoriya said, with a smile on his face despite the throbbing pain in his leg.
“Thanks a lot, Deku. When I heard about this training date that you had planned, I wanted to train as hard as I could to give you more of a challenge,” Uraraka responded, before taking a drink of water from a pink water bottle.
“Well that was a challenge. So, do you want to have a rematch?” Midoriya said, walking into the battlefield. Uraraka smirked in response, and went into the field looking at Midoriya with a smile accompanied by an intense look in her eyes.
“Let’s do this thing, Deku!” Uraraka exclaimed, looking at Midoriya, trying to figure out what he was planning to do. However, before the two could start fighting, they heard an all too familiar voice screaming at them.
“DEKU! CHIPMUNK CHEEKS! SHUT THE FUCK UP!” Katsuki Bakugo yelled, glaring at both Midoriya and Uraraka. Midoriya turned around to confront Bakugo, but before he could do anything, Uraraka turned Midoriya around, grabbed his arm, and sent him crashing to the ground with a judo throw.
“You may be better than me at fighting Deku, but you still need to work on keeping your attention on the battle,” Uraraka said, offering her hand to Midoriya. Midoriya grabbed Uraraka’s hand, got up, and surprised her with a kiss on the cheek.
“I guess you’re right, but you should thank Kacchan for giving you that win,” Midoriya responded with a playful smirk on his face. Uraraka lightly punched Midoriya on the shoulder and looked over at Bakugo.
“You’re right Deku. Thanks for distracting him, Bakugo. Not only did you help me win, but you showed Midoriya something that he needs to improve his fighting skills,” Uraraka said in an over the top faux fancy accent with exaggerated hand and body gestures. Bakugo rolled his eyes, and turned back to the UA dorms.
“Whatever. Just shut the hell up, and let me spend my day off in peace or the both of you idiots will have to deal with me. Got it?” Bakugo threatened, glaring at Deku and Uraraka.
“Yeah, you got it. Now off to your room, you don’t want to keep Hatsume waiting, do you?” Uraraka responded, causing Bakugo to lightly blush.
“Don’t tell me what to do, Chipmunk Cheeks!” Bakugo almost shrieked, before walking off, mumbling obscenities all the way back to his dorm room.
“Well, now that that distraction is out of the way, where were we?” Uraraka asked, before she went back to the field. Midoriya warmly smiled at her running form, before running after her.

Day 6: Childhood Friends AU
Read on AO3
Deku and Bakugou were playing in the park when he first moved there. Of course, Bakugou loved his quirk and would use it any chance he could get, but he wasn’t bitter about Deku being quirkless, not quite yet. And when the Todorokis moved into their neighborhood, he stayed silent for a while. Both of them understood that something worse had happened to the Todoroki kid, and for some reason, instead of making fun of him, Bakugou gave him space. They both tried to make their neighborhood safe for him.
Unfortunately, though, sometimes Todoroki would cry. It was never aloud or in front of anyone, even as a kid. But Deku could see from his bedroom window, sometimes he would look in the mirror and just cry. Deku wondered where his dad went.
And when they all got into UA, they had a big celebration. Or, at least they wanted to. Todoroki had planned one, but Bakugou backed out at the last minute. That was one of the first times Deku and Todoroki had ever been alone in Todoroki’s house. He didn’t like his friends to see his family life. And to all of their surprises, they stayed up all night, playing games and talking about UA. Todoroki tried asking Deku about his quirk (funnily enough, he thought Deku was All Might’s secret child), but Deku deflected his question.
Over the course of the first few weeks of school, the two of them got closer and closer. With every inch closer they got, Bakugou got a mile farther away. He started avoiding the two of them, calling Deku by his old nickname again. And as he got more distant, he got more bitter as well. On anyone else, it would’ve looked like jealousy. But on Bakugou, it was not unusual to see bitterness. With no friends to help him through his defeats, every time he lost he felt more and more inferior. And he really wanted to know how Deku got his quirk.
That is, until Todoroki’s father came back. He hadn’t seen his dad in years and had been avoiding all possible news coverage of him. But during the sports festival, he finally saw his dad again. When he approached his son a few minutes before he was supposed to fight Deku, he said only three words: “make me proud”. Todoroki was furious and confused. Why did he come back? Why does he want to mend our relationship now? Or does he just want the credit if I win?
When he stepped out onto the battlefield, he dreaded what was coming. He hadn’t used left side in years; even Deku couldn’t get him to use it. He looked out to see that he would be fighting his boyfriend. The appearance of Endeavor had caused him to forget, but now he really didn’t know what to do.
There ought to be a rule against this, Deku thought. He took a deep breath, preparing to fight, but when the start sound rang, he couldn’t help but feel a twisting in his stomach. He had to pretend that who he was fighting was just an acquaintance or even an enemy. It was difficult, but that’s what he assumed Todoroki was doing, too. With every hit he landed on his boyfriend, he had to restrain himself from saying “sorry”. And when they had been fighting for a long time, Deku seemed to be winning, and he pinned Todoroki, about to deal the final blow, he whispered, “I’m sorry.”
Todoroki, who had accepted defeat, decided against it at that moment. “You’re sorry?”
Deku was confused, and while left off guard, Todoroki was able to slip out from under him. “I mean–”
“Is that all you feel for me? Pity?” Todoroki was yelling now.
“What is this about, Shouto?”
“If you had the guts, you could just finish me off. I deserve to lose anyway.”
“Come on, Shouto. You know that isn’t true. You need…” he trailed off, afraid that what he was about to say would upset his boyfriend.
“I need what? To use my father’s powers?”
“That’s not what I meant at all. Those powers are not–” Deku was tired of being interrupted.
“You know I can’t use my left side,” he said, this time more softly.
Deku was getting frustrated. “Yes, but I can’t use my powers either! I’ve been going easy on you this whole time because I can’t hurt you. You’re my boyfriend.” He instantly regretted saying that.
He saw pain in Todoroki’s eyes. “Well, not anymore,” he closed his eyes, and took a sharp breath in. “I forfeit.”
“No, you can’t!” Deku yelled. But it was too late, the fight was already over.
Deku was so devastated. He had no idea what to do. Should he continue, or what? How could he move on from this? He decided that, even though he was desperate to be seen, and to show All Might what he could do, things were just too complicated. He couldn’t compete.
This made Bakugou furious. He hated winning so unfairly, but he was forced to receive the prize, begrudgingly.
The weeks after that incident were lonely and hopeless. The three had never been so apart. Now, for Deku, both Todoroki and Bakugou were actively avoiding him.
That is, until Bakugou decided to confront Deku about everything. His usual harsh demeanor stopped for just a while. “Izuku.” Deku jumped, jarred by how he had been addressed.
“Don’t… do that. It’s weird.” Deku started off with. “But, uh, why do you want to talk?”
Bakugou felt a twist in his stomach. “Everything, Deku.”
Deku scrunched his eyebrows. “What does that mean?”
“It means whatever the hell I want it to mean, nerd.” The softness was gone. “I need to ask you something. What happened with you and Todoroki?”
“Uhh… well… we broke up, if that’s what you’re asking.”
“Yes, I know that, dumbass. I mean, why did you break up?”
Deku thought for a bit and realized he didn’t exactly know. “Well, I think it was because of his dad. He was under a lot of stress, and I tried to push him, and… yeah. He still blames himself, I know that.”
Bakugou relaxed, and whispered under his breath a quick “sorry”. But there was still something else to ask. “Is there something you need… maybe help?”
Deku blinked, confused about how he worded it, but replied, “Well, I guess. I really would appreciate it if you could talk to Shouto for me.”
“No, Deku. I can’t talk about my feelings any more than I am now. I was thinking of a more indirect route.”
Deku was skeptical. “What?”
Bakugou did not want to say his idea, but he knew he had to. “What about a fake date?”
Deku was shocked. “Are Kaminari and Mina behind this?”
Bakugou rolled his eyes. “No. You two avoiding each other all the time is damn annoying. I need it to stop. Plus, you can owe me.”
He thought. Deku hated the idea of lying to his boyfriend. But if it was just one date… he really wanted to get Todoroki back. But with Bakugou? It sounded like a recipe for a disaster. Deku was just very desperate at that point.
So, they went on the date. They set up a place where they knew Todoroki would pass by often to notice them. The soba shop.
“Hey, Deku.” Bakugou greeted when he walked in. Deku was very nervous because the two of them hardly talked. That time the day before was probably the most they had talked in years.
“Hi, Kacchan.” They sat at the window booth and Bakugou kept staring out. There were a few minutes of silence before Bakugou decided to say, “So what’s up with your quirk?”
Deku rolled his eyes but was sweating a bit. “You know you’re not supposed to ask. We agreed. We wouldn’t talk about my quirk, your… personality, or Shouto’s dad.”
Bakugou tried not to make it look like he was smiling when he thought about that memory. “I know, but that was then. We’re not little tiny friends anymore.”
Deku could tell there was something more in his expression. Maybe a genuine smile? He hadn’t seen one of those out of Bakugou in years. He smiled back. “Still off-limits.”
There was a bit more silence, until Bakugou continued, “Well, what about you and your dumbass boyfriend? What really happened at that party?”
Deku ignored the harsh phrasing. “We just… talked, I guess.” Bakugou’s expression changed for a split second again. Is that regret? Maybe he’s disappointed he missed that celebration. Or… is he jealous? To make sure, Deku chose his words carefully for the next sentence, “We have a lot more in common than you think.” He was right, Bakugou’s face looked hurt. He continued. “But I have a question for you. Why didn’t you go that day?”
Bakugou didn’t know how to answer. And by staying silent, Deku knew exactly what the answer was. “Shh. He’s passing by.” Bakugou said and drew Deku’s face close into a fake kiss. Deku’s face got red, but he just wanted to laugh. Bakugou was holding both sides of Deku’s head firmly, and he kept his eyes open to see where Todoroki was. Deku heard the door ding, signaling a new customer walking in, and sunk into a real kiss with Bakugou. He told himself it was in case the customer was Todoroki, but he really just wanted to see what Bakugou would do.
When they broke the kiss, they looked out the window and saw Todoroki walking in the opposite direction, visibly shaken. Oh no. What have I done?
He rushed out of the restaurant, with Bakugou close behind after he stuck some cash on the table. He chased down Todoroki quickly, but his ex-boyfriend kept trying to avoid him.
“Look, I’m really, truly sorry, okay? I don’t just mean that because I pity you. I don’t just want to date you out of pity. I love you, Shouto!”
Todoroki stopped in his tracks and, after a second, spun around. He ran towards Deku, tears in his eyes. “Listen, Izuku. I know I made a fool of you at the Sports Festival.”
“It wasn’t embarrassing. I just need to know what’s going on with you.”
“Well… when I was fighting you in that arena. I…” he didn’t know how to word what he was saying, “I didn’t want to hurt you like–” he stopped.
Deku’s eyes got wide, and he knew what caused Todoroki’s outburst. He couldn’t repeat what happened with his parents. “I understand, Shouto.” Deku went to give him a hug.
“Wait, Izuku.” Todoroki kept Deku at arm’s length. “What happened with you and Bakugou?”
Deku looked down at the ground, ashamed. He loved his two best friends. What could he possibly do? “Kacchan, explain yourself to Shouto.”
Bakugou frowned. “The reason I didn’t go to your house that day was because, well, I was jealous, okay? Because suddenly my damn quirkless friend made it into the same hero school as me. And… I guess I knew in my heart you two were always closer to each other than me. So, I stepped aside.” He turned to Deku. “Happy?”
Deku nodded.
Todoroki had to say something. “Bakugou, you shouldn’t have been jealous. Me and Izuku were just friends then. Plus…” he waited for a second, sharing a look with Deku, “I’ve always had feelings for you, too. That party was when I was going to tell you, both of you. But, you didn’t show and I thought you had finally decided to move on to bigger things than me and Izuku, no offense.” All three of them laughed.
Bakugou stared into the blue sky. “I wish there was some way to turn back time to then.”
“What’s stopping us?” Deku said. He took Todoroki’s hand and grabbed Bakugou’s arm, starting down the sidewalk to Todoroki’s house. “Come on.”

Izuku and Bakugo vs. Villain
I want to practice writing fight scenes and since I’m obsessed with BNHA right now and soft Bakugo. Here’s an indulgent fic.
It was becoming a grueling fight. Sweat dripped down Deku’s face as he pressed his back against the wall. He surveyed the area hoping he could put together a miraculous plan of victory or escape. Rubble of decimated buildings laid on top of upheaved roads. Tiny fires started to jump to nearby buildings and he could see heroes scrambling to put it out. Calling for help would be useless as one, they wouldn't make it in time and two, the villains used a force field quirk to keep them in the confined area.
“Where are you, little bunnies? Come out, come out, wherever you are?” A sharp tooth grinned covered the villain’s face. Blood dripped from the blades the villain was carrying. She brings the blade to her lips and joyfully licks the blood off. “Tangy, I wonder what your blood will taste like, little bunnies?”
Deku pressed himself against the building. He needed to formulate a plan before he could go out to face her. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a glint of silver in the alleyway across from him. Kacchan was crouched low to ground like a lion poised to pounce on its prey. Deku tried to signal to him that he should not do anything yet. Kacchan throws him the bird and within seconds, the alleyway lights up brightly as Kacchan blasts into the air. The villain immediately twirled to face the explosion.
“Found one little bunny!” She yelled joyfully.
Deku watched in amazement as Kacchan descends from the sky at breakneck speeds, aiming his body straight at the villain. The villain watched, a smile still plastered on her face. At the point of collision, the explosion was so bright that Deku needed to turn his head away from that moment. When he felt his eyesight returning to him, he opened his eyes and took in the scene. The villain’s force field took the brunt of the impact. At the point of contact, little fissures spread like wildfire across the surface of the field. That’s it! Deku felt his thoughts race a mile a minute.
Before the force field seemed indestructible, as it withstood both his and Kacchan’s attacks easily. The force field can only take a certain amount of damage before it’s destroyed. It seemed very similar to how villains in video games had HP bars. Kacchan jumped back to avoid both of the blades.
“Looks like your damn shields that you are so proud of aren’t really all that strong.” Kacchan smirks and forms a fist with his hand. “Die!”
The villain dodged his punch at the knick of time and used her force field to push back against Kacchan sending him flying towards a building. At the last minute, Deku heard an explosion and Deku assumed Kacchan used a small explosion to slow himself down before the point of contact. The villain grinned menacingly and Deku watched in horror as the force field began repairing itself.
If this battle continues, then both he and Kacchan will lose. Both he and Kacchan have been fighting for quite some time and he knew that they are reaching the limit of their quirks. Deku cannot let her repair that force field. Deku took a deep breath and allowed the power of One for All to flow through his body. He could almost feel the sparks of energy flying from his body. Before he wasted any more time, Deku charged at the villain.
“There’s the other bunny!” She laughs maniacally.
The villain tried a stab at him and he rolled to the right. Using his momentum, Deku pushed all his energy to his legs and launched himself at the villain’s blindspot. Caught off-guard, the villain unconsciously put up her field as he punched it. More cracks appeared along the bubble and the villain looked furious. Deku jumped backward as she slashed at him, nicking his arm. Blood slid down his costume mixing with the sweat. He took a couple of seconds to catch his breath and then he went to jump at it again.
The villain expanded her barrier and Deku felt like he smashed into a wall. With a yell, she expands the barrier upwards forming a mushroom. Deku pushed off against the wall to get away, but it was a moment too late. The barrier crashed down on him. He smacked against the ground making a deafening crack against the asphalt. He didn’t even have time to scream. He couldn’t breathe. Half of his body was under the barrier, unable to move or feel. He couldn’t think as he started to choke on his own blood. She applied more force onto him and he screamed. His bones creaked and he felt like a balloon about to pop.
Suddenly, he could breathe again and the pressure was gone from his body. He gulped for breath desperately. Someone landed right next to him.
“Get the fuck up, Deku!”
“Keep your eyes on me, little bunny!” Kacchan parries the blades with the large grenades on his arms.
Deku gritted his teeth and tried to pull his body up. He nearly whited out in pain. He gasped for breath, taking a few moments to process the pain. He knew he can’t stay down for long. He prepared himself for the pain and stood up. Fire raced up his legs and his body nearly crumpled to the ground. He bit the bottom of his lip to stop from screaming. He could taste the copper. Taking another deep breath, he surveyed the scene.
There was a slight lull in the battle as both Kacchan and the villain were trying to catch their breath. Kacchan was hunched over, wiping the blood from his mouth. Deku noticed Kachhan’s arm twitching minutely. Kacchan won’t last for much longer against the villain. The villain didn’t fare much better, there were more cracks in the barrier than before, no doubt from Kacchan’s relentless attacks. Her attention was focused on Kacchan, so she hasn’t noticed that Deku had gotten back up. This was his chance for both Kacchan and him to counterattack. When Kacchan launched himself towards the villain, Deku braced himself and did the same.
The villain moved towards the right to get out of the way of Kacchan’s explosion and right into Deku’s kick. Swinging his body to bring the most force possible into his kick, Deku’s foot collided with the barrier. The cracks spread like wildfire and he could hear the barrier shatter like glass. The villain’s face was filled with shock before outrage filled it. She swung her sword at Deku. Deku knew he couldn’t jump out of the way. This wasn’t how he wanted to die. Time slowed down, before the sword could reach him, a blur crashed into her and knocked her out of the way. Deku skidded against the road and his skin scraping against sandpaper.
Kacchan had saved him. Although to be truthful, it was probably a side effect of his need to win against the villain. Regardless, he felt immensely grateful. The outer force field begins to dissipate, so he knew that the villain must be unconscious now. A sigh of relief escaped him. It’s over. Exhaustion settled over his body and the entire lower half of his body was numb. That… that probably wasn’t good. He couldn’t seem to focus on the scene before him. Someone approached him.
“Pathetic, you couldn’t even win against a second rate villain like that. How could you ever be number 1?” He hears Kacchan say. Deku opened up his eyes and scowled up at Kacchan.
“Y-You’re barely standing at all, yourself, Kacchan.” Kacchan tsked at his statement.
“At least, I’m still fucking standing.”
“I landed the hit that destroyed her barrier.”
“I landed the hit that knocked her out. What’s your point, shithead?” Deku couldn’t even find the energy to fight him. His eyes started to close. “Hey shithead, don’t fucking fall asleep on me.”
It’s not like he could stop it. He just felt so tired.
All around Izuku was darkness and silence. His body was incorperal, wading through the darkness. Weightlessly floating, he was at peace. There was no pain, no feeling, no anything. Just his mere existence in an endless sea of quiet darkness. He knew not how long he floated in that sea, but he could feel a slight disturbance around him. Whispers started to the left of him, far away, but slowly inching closer. They grew louder and louder, until he was surrounded by their voices. It sounded like the voices of the previous One for All users, colliding and resounding off one another. He couldn’t make out the words, but he knew what they wanted. This was not where their story would end, and they asked him to indulge them a little longer. Izuku contemplated his answer. Obliging the voices would mean leaving the serene peace, but they were quite insistent and persuasive. Maybe jumping once more into the chaotic, unknown world would offer something better than the quiet.
“Wh… ….s th… f...cking… id...ot… going to wake up? Rival, my fucking ass.” Was that… Kacchan?
“Bakugo, my boy, you should focus on your own recovery instead of Midoriya’s.” All Might said in a deep, calming tone.
“Shut the fuck up, old man. What the hell do you know?”
“Bakugo, I know you must be tired. You did carry Midoriya back from the battlefield with your injuries.”
Izuku made a noise of surprise cutting off Bakugo’s reply. He heard rustling and a presence sat down next to him. He opened his eyes slowly, letting them adjust to the light. The lower half of his body ached and throbbed.
“How are you feeling, Midoriya, my boy?” Concern plastered across All Might’s face.
“Everything… hurts…” All Might brushed the bangs away from his sweaty brow.
“I’m sorry that I can’t help you…” Izuku smacked All Might’s shoulder weakly.
“All Might, you’ve already helped... more than you could ever know.” All Might’s shoulders sagged and he sighed.
“I can only hope, but as your mentor, I urge you to stop landing yourself in the hospital and giving everyone a heart attack.” All Might turns to Kacchan. “You too, Bakugo.”
“Whatever. Like I can control when a villain attacks.” Kacchan sneered and turned away from All Might. Right before Kacchan turned, Izuku noticed a small smile on his lips.
“What… What happened to the villain?” Izuku asked.
“The Enforcer? She’s been apprehended thanks to you both.”
Suddenly, the door to the hospital room burst open. Kirishima and the rest of class 1-A rushed in through the door. Twenty worried faces plus concerned parents filled the hospital room. Izuku gave the room a tired smile. He knew that both he and Kacchan were going to be just fine.
