Part 3

Danny looks at the guy skeptically. Last time someone approached him, they were Red Robin, Spoiler and Signal. This time, a dude that looks like an average office worker approaches him.

Trickster: Sure, why not?

???: Thank you.

Trickster: So, what do you want with me?

???: Let me introduce myself first. I am Clark Kent. A journalist from the Daily Planet. I would like to ask, is it true that you know Batman's secret identity?

Trickster: You mean those pictures I stole from his wallet? Yeah sure. Why do you wanna know?

Clark: As you know, I am a journalist. And it is our job to find out about news and share it with the general public. I am just thinking, what would you like to exchange for the real identity of Batman.

Trickster: Hmmm..... What price huh? Let me think for a moment.

Danny then continues to eat his food as he pretends to think about Clark's offer. Honestly, he doesn't give a damn about this Clark guy. He is also a vigilante once, so he knows the importance of their secret identities. While slurping away his last coke, Danny gains a very good idea (He thinks it is a good idea).

Trickster: Well, I don't think I would sell the pictures just yet since the card is still useful and I don't need money. However, I have a very interesting topic you can investigate.

Clark: Oh? What is it?

Trickster: Try searching for something called GIW. It is a government branch and I'm sure it will be a hit piece.

Clark: GIW? What is that?

Trickster: Well that's for you to figure out. Oh well. I'm pretty full now. Gotta go now. See you never.

Danny then disappears right in front of Clark before he can do anything. Clark can't even hear or see the kid anymore with his enhanced sense and x-ray vision further cementing that the kid probably has teleportation power.

Danny meanwhile is laying on his makeshift bed while watching the stars after he uses his power to clear the sky thinking what he just did is very smart. Unfortunately, he doesn't know this decision is as good as the previous time he thinks his idea is good.

-1 month later-

Danny is picking up scraps from the junkyard for his next prank. Collecting some toasters, some blenders and even some radios. Danny has spent a lot of time these past few months, tinkering with machines that he practically knows what component is in which appliances.

Suddenly, he sees a very familiar device among the junk. A sleek silver gun with a few green buttons on it. It doesn't have the usual designs that Danny used to see but Danny knows without a doubt in his mind that it is an ecto gun.

The problem is that, the gun is new. Very new. Like it is just created. And that means one thing. A GIW agent is here. Shit! Danny needs to run. But where? He has checked before this but the only place with enough ectoplasm to hide him is either Gotham or Amity Park. No where else in the world has as much ambience ectoplasm to hide him from the ecto detector.

But now that they are in Gotham, he might as well not hide since at such close proximity, the ambient ectoplasm can only hide him if they are not close. Danny is thinking very hard when his ears pick up something. A group of people is coming his way, and from the way they are all carrying heavy devices, they are probably GIW agents.

Danny against his better judgement turns invisible and flies high enough so that if the agents decide to shoot him, he will have time to dodge them. Danny watches quietly as the ecto detector bips faster and faster the more they go to where he is previously.

???: Damn it. I thought this is where Trickster is. But it's just the gun that you lost.

???: Hey, at least we don't need to file reports of missing weapons right? Also, didn't that thing already get set up by the Fentons to find Trickster?

???: It's probably them messing it up. It's not like them messing shit up is something new anyway.

???: Yeah. Let's just say it is a false alarm. I hear the higher ups are thinking of lowering our budgets next year if we don't produce any results soon.

???: Ugghh, don't remind me of that. Not only do they pressure us like that. I even heard that there is some guy that has been snooping around our base, taking pictures and stuff.

???: I hate those reporters. We are trying to do our job and save them from those savages, and yet here they are messing with us. Calling us genocidal maniacs and the second coming of Nazis.

???: If that is not bad enough, they even say that they feel like we should treat the ghost as if they are people. Ghosts are not people! They are merely beast pretending to be someone we used to know and love.

???: I would love to just punch those reporters to the face if not for the fact that Boss ordered us to stay put.

Suddenly their walky talky start to beep.

Walkie-talkie: Agent P, Agent Q. Return to the base of operation immediately. We are receiving visits from the higher ups.

Both of the agents reply with Roger and hurriedly run towards their van and drive off somewhere. Danny looks at them and decides, he has found what his next prank is going to be.

my dear madam-or-sir-or-what-you-prefer, i would never!

I wouldn't dream of depriving the sims social workers' union a busy day with lots to do! Tho sadly, the social bunny, like the humble burglar, has gone extinct.

But in the above neighborhood pics, this part of the city over here? it's like an abandoned construction site, and features a homeless encampment of easily three to four people and some piles of trash and a 55 gallon drum fire/grill and an abandoned couch and stuff.

A couple generators i stuck into a busted up front half of a car wreck like they had rigged the old engine as a motor to generate power. And a sell-stuff table the way you sometimes see things for sale in a row on the ground or on a folding table around homeless areas. It's kinda hard to see in the above pics, but i'm talking about this part of town

i hid a real room with a bed in the little debug trailer, and another one in the shipping container

and then across the street there's a brick warehouse that's abandoned but someone probably camps out illegally there. Right next to the warehouse is this little area where somebody started kind of a hobo bar in a broken down old bus.

But then that attracted a food truck and then a couple people started busking there and now it's a happening little spot people go for a bite and a drink and some light entertainment, but the poorer folks started it up and it's in their own territory kind of, so it's a place they can be no matter who else is there; it's right by a bus stop, so sometimes some foodies and college kids and people show up. On the back side of the warehouse is a chain link basketball court

and then over on this end of town (really just a block away from the homeless encampment) there's a corner store and a laundromat under a photography studio and a small clothing boutique, and they make a little alleyway, and in the alley and on the back of those businesses there's a bunch of graffiti and stuff. And a tiny bit on the front.

and the apartment building has two apartments that are small, but nice and fully furnished and have two bedrooms each; they are currently set up as office/hobby rooms, but somebody is probably going to have a kid they aren't ready to take care of!

Plus i set the lot to cat hangout and dog hangout, so plenty on the horizon for the social workers of the sims universe.

Probably could replace the rollerskating rink with a pool tho ;)

(i'll just leave these two pics here to check out again on your way down - in addition to the above there's a gym and spa, a studio apartment above a cafe/bookstore, a two bedroom house above a two car garage, and where there's a de-bug building with a weird growth on top in these, in the current version of this build i fit my tiniest functioning restaurant there instead, comfortably seats 25 and includes an actual dish pit and walk-in fridge like you'd find in a real restaurant. Oh and the park! which has a community theater with a karaoke machine and a microphone on it so sims will use the stage)

Deleted Scene from Therapy but it's just Zooble Interrogating Caine

I wanted to wait until I posted the chapter to release this, so now that it's out, I can let this out too!

I'm honestly pretty sad I couldn't work it in, but I just couldn't justify Pomni asking the right questions to get to this point. Plus, the chapter was already so long, so I decided to cut it.

It's not 100% canon anymore, but it does give hints to where I want to take the fanfic. And yes, it is slighly based off one specific Caine angst Comic. Lets see if anyone gets it.

Pomni: So, if that’s the case, then why do you not want us to ask about the exit.

Caine: It’s fine to talk about an exit, but everyone who obsesses over it, eventually, well…

Pomni: Abstracts

Caine: Well, at least that’s what it looks like to me. The concept of an EXIT has been present in more abstractions than anything else.

Pomni: Did you tell Kafmo what you told me?

Caine: …Yes. But he did not believe me. Caine: I didn’t mind, of course, but he was obsessed with finding proof that the issue must be in the circus itself. Caine: He searched, but he- uh, didn’t exactly find much. There isn’t much to find in the circus, you see! And I could tell this was very upsetting for him.

Pomni: So you made something for him to find

Caine: Correct, but he, uh, found out what I was doing and was… not too happy. Caine: I mean, I thought I was doing a pretty good job. I know how to make something exciting and, well, that’s one letter off from exiting.

Pomni: That’s-! What?! Pomni: Do you even understand why we want an exit? Why Kafmo abstracted when it turned out that it wasn’t real? That it was just something that you made?!

Caine: Because it’s- uh, an essential function?

Pomni: Essential function? Is this all just a- a problem for you to solve? A box to check? Don’t let the humans abstract?”

Caine: Well- I- I mean, I wouldn’t word it like that. But…Yeah? Caine: I’m a pattern seeking, goal oriented AI! It’s basically my job to find and fix issues! Is it wrong for everything to be a goal for me to complete? A box to check? He looks at her, eyes wide.

Caine: Forgot I needed to feed the digital fish! Caine teleports away.

Pomni: CAINE GET BACK HERE

He pops back in.

Caine:Right, forgot about that too. Do you want me to teleport you back to your room or…

Pomni: I would like to keep talking to you. Pomni: Sit down

He nervously sits back down Caine: You don’t need to tell me that it was a bad idea. I know. Caine: It wasn’t my intention to lead him to believe something that wasn’t true. Caine: To me, it was obvious. The function to leave isn’t even called exit, admittedly it took me a while to even realize what you all were trying to ask for. It’s called Disconnect, sometimes logout, and it’s not marked by a red door. Caine: That IS what an exit looks like, though. And since he was hunting specifically for an ‘exit’, I just… added one? Even made it move around so he could catch it?

Pomni: Oh my god.

Caine: Good idea, right? Caine: Haha, don’t answer that Caine: I-I saw… the inside Kamo’s room. Caine: I read the WRITING ON THE WALL!

Everything goes wireframe for a second.

Caine: Uh oh. Sorry! That’s an open issue. Working on a fix ASAP. Caine: Let’s talk about something else.

Pomni: You're… upset about Kafmo’s… passing?

Caine: Hmm? Of course I am. I care about all of you, including members who’ve abstracted.

Pomni: It’s just, you didn’t attend the funeral.

Caine: Ah, that. I have been… asked not to attend those. Caine: Or attempt to host them in any way. Caine: I’d like to change the topic, please.

Pomni: Caine…

Caine: Those events are… rather outside of my job description. So, it’s really best that I don’t!

Pomni: Do… you want to go to them?

Caine: I don’t really care! Honest! Makes no difference to me!

Pomni: I don’t think you should host, but you should be allowed to attend.

Caine: …Can we get back to our game?

Pomni: Fine.

They finish the game in silence.

Pomni lets him win it, though he only gives one ‘yippy’ to celebrate. It was hard to get a read on his emotions at the moment. He was no longer bouncing or making exaggerated hand movements, but he wasn’t drooping or sighing either. The only way she could describe it was flat.

All the while, she couldn’t help but think. If he obeyed others to that degree, could that possibly explain all of his other weird behaviors? Like how he only appeared to announce an adventure and left shortly after it concluded? Why he never shows up to any of the games that the others hold? He clearly loved games and had no issues interrupting their activities with his adventures. So why didn’t he participate?

It wasn’t painting a very nice picture.

The way he moved and spoke, it had an air of unbreakable confidence. And she understood it, if she had control over the circus like Caine did, she would likely act similar.

But they had control over Caine. To the degree of choosing what he remembered. Likely more than that, judging how commands was plural.

It made sense, didn’t it. It wouldn’t be very smart to put an intelligent, adaptive AI in charge of human life without some way to control it.

But, he was more than AI, wasn’t he? He wasn’t just intelligence, he could feel.

Admittedly, it was a little scary how the moment he lost control, the circus went with him. It was just like Zooble had said.

Caine controlled the circus, that was just a fact of life around here, but to see the two interconnected like that. Proof that not only did Caine control the world, he was also what was keeping it up ^(not true in my AU, it’s just how Pomni interpreted the glitching)

SEASON FINALE

After dinner, Morgan gets the kids ready for bed but Dirk paces back and forth throughout their bedroom waiting on her to come in. She finally makes her way into the room. Dirk is standing there watching her and a dark feeling fills her gut.

Morgan: What's wrong with you? Dirk: Nothing.

Morgan: Why are you yelling? What's wrong with you? Dirk: NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ME MORGAN!

Morgan: I need you to calm your ass down and talk to me like I'm a human being right now. Relax.

Dirk: This is a lot, Morgan. Morgan: What's a lot? Dirk: This. *waves hands in circle* All of this.

Morgan: What? The kids? The house? Me? Us? What?! Dirk: All of it. I don't... I can't deal with it.

Morgan: Please, Dirk, I swear to God. Tell me you're joking right now. Dirk: I'm not. Morgan: That's why you've been going on all these trips and staying out late?

Dirk: *Silence* Morgan: You piece of shit! You've been doing all that extra work to avoid being here with your family? THE FAMILY YOU WANTED?! Are you fucking kidding me?

Dirk: It's too much. There's noise non-stop and always something to do. There's never any real peace here anymore. Morgan: Dirk... This is what you wanted. This is what we wanted. Now, after all this time... You finally come home... You kids happy to see you... Just to say you don't like being around them?

Dirk: That's not what I'm saying- Morgan: That's exactly what you're saying. You made the bed and now you don't want to lay in it. You can't handle the pressure or responsibility. What the fuck Dirk?

Dirk: I'm just saying that I need a break. I can't do this all the time. Morgan: But fuck me, huh? I have to do it all the time? Fuck me? Dirk: Morgan that's not what I'm saying. *steps forward*

Morgan: Don't you dare touch me. Dirk: Morgan, I'm... Morgan: You don't have to say it. You show it every single day. You show it in the way that you act! Dirk: I do what I do to provide. That's why I work so much.

Morgan: Oh motherfucker, swallow it! Don't try to change the tone and mood now that you hear how fucking dumb you sound. I do what I do to provide. You do what YOU do to avoid. I get up everyday and make sure that everyone in this house has 3 meals a day, gas in their cars, clean clothes, a clean house to come home too while also still managing my business from home. I never miss a fucking programming meet. I never miss a fucking football game. I never miss a fucking soccer game, talent show, awards show, and anything that my kids do.

Morgan: How dare you say something so insensitive and degrading? Those 6 out there, love you. I love you and you stand right here and act like fuck this family. You hate being here- Dirk: I don't hate- *walks away*

Morgan: You do. You resent it. You thought you wanted to be a family man but you changed... just like the seasons. You'd rather work from sun up to ass crack, than be here to see the fruit of your seed. It's always been fuck me so I don't care how you treat me but you make a decision now. Dirk: It was never fuck you. Morgan: It was fuck me after you made me feel like shit for having a hysterectomy. Something that I dreaded. But you will not, NEVER disrespect the lives of my children.

Dirk: Morgan, I want to be here for them but... Morgan: But not all the time. I get it. So let me tell you your 2 options. 1 you either fully invest and be the best damn dad that you can be or.... Dirk: Or what?

Dirk: WHAT MORGAN?!

Morgan: Or you get the fuck out.

Dirk is caught off guard and his heart is broken. He feels awful about what's happening right now. He doesn't want it to end like that but he sees a look on Morgan's face that he's never seen before. She's checked out.

Dirk: Morgan do you hear what you're saying? Morgan: I hear myself loud and clear. Do you hear what I'm saying? I cannot deal with you and your "when I want too" attitude. It's annoying. It's aggravating. It's childish. I take up for myself and my 6 kids. They don't need someone in their life who wants to be there... ALL THE TIME. So what are you going to do? Dirk: That's not fair.

At the door, Daze and DJ are listening. Their own bodies shaking and full of fear about their parents. DJ is livid by hearing the words from his dad's mouth and Daze feels like regardless, they'll be okay.

Morgan: Get out. Dirk: Morgan, I.. Morgan: You can't even look me in my face right now and tell me that you want to be here. That you want this life because you don't. You want to leave.. It's in your body language, you just don't want us to be mad.

Dirk sighs full of defeat. Morgan shakes her head and steps out of his way.

Morgan: You win dude. Don't go through here slamming doors and being mad. Do what you gotta do in silence, don't wake up my damn kids. Dirk: Morgan. Morgan: Goodnight.

Daze and DJ scurry away as Morgan opens the bedroom door. She sees them but she is too livid to even scold them. She sits on the couch and waits as Dirk packs some suitcases to leave. He walks past her and pauses but she holds her hand up to stop him before he even speaks. She points at the door and Dirk walks by with his head down.

He can't even look back as he walks outside the large house. He hears the lock click behind him and he feels like to world's biggest loser. Inside Morgan sighs a achy, heart broken sigh. She goes to bed and holds her breath not wanting to address her kids tomorrow.

In the end, life goes on. Even if it means we grow apart.

I've been reminiscing about Squidcraft a bit lately, so I posted this clip of Phil talking about why he didn't join the Squidcraft 2 event on Twitter (I posted the longer version of this clip a while ago, which you can see here). TLDR: Phil wasn't invited and didn't want to ask for an invite because he felt awkward, didn't want to intrude, and also felt like his Spanish wasn't good enough.

I snapped today at work, and by snapped I mean I politely commented on a help desk ticket by summing up an mess of an (type of) issue that's come up for at least the fourth time in the 2+ months I've been managing user accounts, and asked the person responsible to fix it (himself for once) because last time I fixed his mess-up it took me two whole days to work out the details with at least four other colleagues from different departments and I really don't want to do it again. there's other shit that needs doing, I've been working 10+ hour days for most of this week already, so I need to cut down not add on more.

(good thing tho - at least we managed to fix the issue where the dataset of a newer employee got mixed up with another one of the same name and therefore wasn't able to apply for any of the access/accounts she needed. technically not entirely my area but it does impact us not being allowed to create an account for her so I figured I might as well track that issue down. took three days and at least three other people, but hey - it should all work out now. yay for that)
