Is lag a thing in the worldbuilfing for hunger au? Ive seen some fics describe it as areas of the world/anomalies where time seems to slow down, and i was curious if u have any thoughts? :o
I think lag in this case would be considered more of a server glitch than anything else-- so not something thats super common, and not necessarily caused by the kind of things it would be in the game irl!! I'd go as far to say that modded worlds are probably more prone to it, especially if they feature heavy code changes
Additionally i think lag in hunger au is like, less that time seems to slow down and more that the gravity in specific areas is suddenly a LOT stronger, and weighs you down a ton so everything feels like moving through molasses. I'd imagine its an absolute pain in the ass to fix, although not very harmful, just hellishly annoying 😂😂😂😂
#shouting speaks#asks#hunger au#minecraft worldbuilding#i just woke up so hopefully that makes sense!!!#my thought for this is like. to fix it you'd have to go thru the server code line by line to check for any glitches and smooth them out#and also like. lag probably only rarely pops up only a single area its probably spread throughout the server in different locations#pov ur lugging a shulker and suddenly everything weighs 10x more than it did that would be HELL#txt

What must it be like to be on a server with Doc? Every time he posts in the Hermitcraft Discord server must be absolutely insane.
Is anyone available to help me kill 3 wardens that got loose on the nether roof? Sorry actually it might be more like 20
Hey if it's not too much trouble, could no one log on for the next 30 minutes? I'm trying to transport an ender dragon I pulled into the overworld and loading chunks could mess it up
Anyone want to play a children's card game? I outsourced my deck building to a think tank made of hundreds of people and I want to absolutely destroy someone in a match
Does someone know a good rap artist to collab with? I want to make an anthem for the nation I founded in my massive hole of a base and Snoop Dog never got back to me
So we're not having a team meeting, just an informal brainstorming session? Cool, can I invite Christopher Paolini? Yeah the guy who wrote the Eragon books
If you see any ghasts flying over spawn town, I released like 30 of them as a prank. There should be like 2 left so don't kill them, they're an endangered species
I left that shulker at spawn FOR A REASON. Whoever took it, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M CAPABLE OF. RETURN IT OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES
Just a heads up guys, I'm inviting some Mojang devs on to the server so I can show them the cannon I made that can shoot an arrow through 3000 solid blocks in one tick and immediately destroys a full set of netherite armor
Grian was annoying me so I built a cannon that shoots charged creepers at his base with startling accuracy. Then he used it for his own gain so I build a goat mech that poops explosives to guard my base. What do you mean that's not how normal people handle disputes? He's clearly the unhinged one!
Be careful going into my base, I have a pet warden at the bottom of the perimeter. No, a PET. Yes it's there on purpose, his name is King
No one touch the chunk loader at spawn, I'm using it to transport items thousands of blocks instantly. No, of course it's not an intended feature but I still managed to pull it off in vanilla, didn't I?
How did the world eater go? Well I needed to use 3 minecraft accounts so it would run properly and at one point it was disrupted by solar flares, which I think might have been God trying to strike me down for my hubris. But other than that, yeah it went well!
Please note that these examples are ONLY FROM SEASON 9

Minecraft 1.20 thoughts:
The highlight is, of course, the cherry blossom grove biome and cherry trees. The cherry wood just looks SO GOOD with everything. I've made so many builds incorporating it already and it's so easy to work into a color scheme. Cherry wood. Hhhhhnnnnghh. Such a delicious shade of pink. I want to eat it.
Also really excited about the bamboo wood set, it looks amazing and adds a lot of functionality to bamboo.
Feeling pretty positively about the armor trims, though I wish there were more where the decorative material was more dominant in the color scheme.
Trail ruins and archaeology: Mixed feelings. I think archaeology is a fun mechanic, I like exploring the trail ruins, but they really, really turn inventory management into an absolute nightmare.
There are many different varieties of pottery sherds, I think at least 20. Sherds of different types do not stack. There are 4 armor trims that can be dropped by suspicious gravel in trail ruins. Trims of different types do not stack. The trail ruin structures themselves include many different varieties of terracotta and glazed terracotta, (at least 6 different colors of each) and—you guessed it!—each type stacks separately.
Additionally, suspicious gravel in trail ruins may drop any of several colors of candle (I have found red, purple, green, brown, and blue candles) and any of several colors of glass pane. The process of digging the ruin out will fill your inventory with at least 6 stacks of gravel as well as a lot of dirt, coarse dirt, cobblestone, and flint.
To top it all off, unless you want to enchant your brush with Unbreaking, you will need to carry multiple brushes because the brush breaks before the ruin is fully cleared.
Even with multiple shulker boxes clearing a ruin fully in one trip is impossible. What were the devs even thinking??? Are we expected to throw away the candles and other "junk" drops and ignore the glazed terracotta, mud bricks, and other tedious-to-obtain blocks in the structure itself?
This update shares with 1.19 the bizarre attribute of the devs supposedly being very focused on the player experience, while seemingly not noticing key parts of the player experience. The new mechanics and features in both have some incredibly fun and engaging elements to them but also some glaring problems.
I'm pretty much just indifferent to the clay pots? They would be more fun if they incorporated some basic colored patterns and/or actually could be used for something.
Changes to sign editing, and hanging signs are both fantastic.
The "Netherite Upgrade" is shit and I'm not sorry to say it.
Like...netherite is already so incredibly tedious and difficult to obtain that it's almost not worth bothering with. 4 ancient debris is needed to craft a single netherite ingot. You need 16 ancient debris to upgrade a full diamond armor set to netherite, and 8 more if you want to upgrade a sword and one pickaxe. If you don't have Mending on all of them, basically go fuck yourself, because from that point you will need multiple netherite ingots to repair a piece of equipment in the same way you would need multiple diamonds to repair diamond equipment. All of this for a set of equipment that will be fucking gone if you die and can't recover it.
And yet the devs have decided to??? fucking...add a generic, painfully uncharismatic new item to provide another barrier to obtaining netherite gear? because it's too easy or something???
I haven't broken into the other new additions very much, but I will try to obtain a sniffer egg soon...

Name: Clamer
Debut: Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Clamer is a robotic clam, and you can share that information with anyone you please! It is a perfect specimen of the "clam with big ol' eyes peering out from within the shell" type of character design, which technically doesn't exist (yet? Leave feedback for clam manufacturers), but I think the niche is filled by cone snails. Their eyes are so silly! And when you get a better look at the truth, the magic is not lost, because you get to see eyestalks!
So yeah, Clamer is funny. Its name makes it even funnier! I would think they would go with "Clammer", but the single M makes it seem like it's pronounced "Claimer". What does it claim? Does it claim you as a tax dependent?
If you jump on Clamer's shell, you will BOUNCE OFF, you goofball! Silly you, trying to defeat a shelled animal by attacking its SHELL! What a KNUCKLEHEAD! (I tried to defeat it by jumping on it) Instead, it must be attacked from the side. But be careful if it's the front side! Clamer's got a little surprise. What is your surprise, Clamer?
It's Gun!
Do I even need to explain it? It's Gun. Get away from it!
Clamer appears in Carnival Night Zone, because evidently this is a clam who likes to have some fun! Woohoo! Badniks do not necessarily have to be thematic to their areas, but maybe Clamer is here because it's a beachside boardwalk carnival or something. And I think those serve fried clams sometimes. They do in Bob's Burgers! One of my two favorite cartoons about a Bob who makes burgers!
What do you think a clam's favorite carnival ride is? It might not like rides, it doesn't seem interested in speed. It would probably prefer games. Not just any ol' "throw something at a rigged setup" game for Clamer, though. It would play the Shell Game!
Get a load of this! Clamer, in Minecraft! New Clamer content 2023! In the Sonic texture pack, Shulkers are reskinned as Clamer, which might honestly be the most fitting reskin of any official texture pack. Two molluscs that open their shells to peek out and fire projectiles! And since Shulker Shells can be made into Shulker Boxes, you now have the option of using a Clamer shell to store your valuables!
In the Sonic games, Clamer's projectiles may not cause you to levitate like Shulker's do, but it could be metaphorical. If you were shot by Clamer in real life, even though it would hurt, you would feel lighter than air, filled with pure glee at the knowledge that Clamer exists in real life. What a wonderful world that would be!
Or maybe not because Clamer is a Badnik that is powered by a captive animal. But surely it wouldn't be too hard to make a robot clam that runs on electricity instead. I feel like that would be easier, frankly.

sonic characters playing minecraft headcanons bc i cant sleep:
-tails is a huge redstoner. he builds giant farms for everyone on the server to use and also has a tendency to be responsible for most of the server's lag. in their umiverse tails is the one to invent wireless redstone
-tails also likes building house exteriors while amy builds the interiors. they work on a lot of projects together
-amy also runs a business making interiors because shes known to be the best at it on the server
-amy runs a shop selling mob loot because she loves killing things. she's also a master pvper and everyone fears her so you know no one would dare steal from her. she kills withers on the regular and makes bank off the nether stars
-she's also very skilled at using both the axe and the sword, but not as good at ranged weapons.
-sonic is an explorer and likes mods that allow for gear that makes him faster and increases his step height. mountain biomes are the bane of his existance in vanilla
-sonic used to live in tails' house but he would ruin his item sorter system all the time so he asked sonic to get his own storage. sonic now lives in a hole under tails' house
-sonic's a big potion user. he likes speed potions + water breathing / night vision potions for dealing with water stuff. he's soooo brave about it. he forced himself to take on a water temple because he couldnt stand the idea of there being an enemy he couldnt defeat. being underwater makes him sick tho
-knuckles is a miner and his house is a series of tunnels that blends into his mine. he also likes building things mainly with stone materials. he takes inspiration from irl angel island.
-rouge is a big flyer. shes possibly the best elytra user on the server
-rouge collects all the gems in the game and stacks them in shulker boxes in a vault nobody on the server has found yet. she does randomly flex by taking them out and showing them off. she'll go up to knuckles and just place a shulker box full of diamond blocks in front of him to taunt him, then quickly grab it and fly away.
-rouge doesn't mine so much as she'll trade or steal. she mainly steals from knuckles tho just to mess with him. knuckles always gets confused where his stuff has gone and still hasnt figured out rouge is the one taking it.
-rouge will also trade random missions for gems. these missions will often consist of helping with playing pranks on other members of the server.
-cream runs a flower and dye "shop" where she has super cheap prices, but half the time she will just give people flowers as gifts. everyone returns the favor with much more valuable items to make her happy but it technically doesn't count as selling/buying because cream never asks for anything in return. she does like receiving gifts tho
-big is always on the server, fishing. little do they know big is actually physically in the minecraft world. he doesnt know how he got there but he's vibin
-knuckles is very into minecraft lore. he likes exploring to learn more about the world and he likes finding old ruins. while sonic is also an explorer it's not too often they'll actually team up unless theyre specifically going to fight a difficult enemy. usually they prefer to go solo
-when time came to fight the ender dragon everyone showed up (except cream because she didn't think the dragon is evil and didnt want to kill it). shadow, sonic, and knuckles were all fighting for the final hit on the dragon. shadow got the hit but sonic stole the egg before anyone else could. he's hiding it in the hole under tails' house. rouge has her sights set on that thing and will figure out where it is any moment now. she just has to wait for tails to leave the house so she can search without being seen or heard
-shadow was the first on the server to get the achievement for collecting all the cats
-shadow is also a pretty good builder and he lives in a nice house with his cats. he has the most maxed out armor on the server
-tails has a solo world as well where he runs like 1000 mods that nobody else's computer could handle. i thought this was important to mention
-sonic likes to collect heads. both mob heads and player heads. he has 20 knuckles heads and 13 shadow ones but he could not get a tails one until tails donated one himself to the collection.
#sonic#sth#sonic the hedgehog#minecraft#donk post#donk text#this is what i got atm. im gonna try to sleep again

This one took me awhile since I managed to break the pack not once but twice, but it's finally done! Pack is tested and it works with 1.21; I haven't tested it in any other versions but it should be backward compatible at least with 1.20.
I made quite a few changes to translations; a few of them were to make things sound less clunky but ALSO since we have a lot of new animal names from FoP, I'm going to try to name all the animals after their closest Pandoran equivalent rather than just giving them descriptions. (Plants will unfortunately have to be in a future update... most of the FoP plants with Na'vi names don't resemble anything in Minecraft, and I haven't seen any Na'vi names for the trees in game. Shame because the Clouded Forest pines would be perfect for spruce trees.)
Specific changes I can remember off the top of my head under the cut:
-Some of the copper blocks have been changed around: Exposed Copper is now Tuna Fngap Atsewtx (Dirty Copper) and Oxidised Copper is Tuna Fngap a Sleru Ean (Copper that is turning blue/green... yeah still a bit awkward but there really isn't a good Na'vi equivalent for metal stuff.)
-Some tools have been re-translated as machines (txawnulsrung). Pretty much if it uses redstone in some way, like dispensers, it's now a machine.
-Axolotl: changed kenten to wuwuk. I know it's still not a lizard but I feel like a general word works better than a specific land species that flies.
-Allay: changed tireatsyìp to nrrtsyal. They look like little glowy bugs ^^ (if Mojang decides to add fireflies back in I may have to change this one back but eh)
-Wandering Trader: changed sopyu (traveller) to lanteyu (wanderer). Surprising that Na'vi has no word for trade yet.
-Shulker: changed tì'ì'atxkxeyä mawup (End Turtapede lol) to kinamtsìng. I figured it resembles a bug that jumps really high and floats more than a turtle.
-Turtle: changed mawup to mawuptsyìp, now that we have an actual word for earth turtles.
-Frog: changed rusola ioang (singing beast) to wuwuk le'awtu.

OMG i got a better pc recently and i JUST realized i can play vault hunters now!!! :000 any advice for absolute newbies? (kinda scared of it)
YAY! you’ll enjoy it I have trouble playing normal minecraft now that I know there’s a Minecraft I can be playing that has Goals and Objectives and also Storage Systems.
and then yes I absolutely have newbie advice! don’t take any of this as gospel I’m hardly a top player these are just things I find handy:
make sure you’ve allocated at least 8 GB to the game before playing to save yourself some headache. 6 GB can work if you’re pushing it, but not much less.
vault hunters discord can be a useful place to join to find various advice and also things like community documents on everything in the game as you need.
you don’t need better armor than iron; since all vanilla armor was nerfed, diamond armor has the same protective strength as iron armor, just with more durability. save your diamonds for other crafts, like a vault enchanter, a diamond pickaxe, and the altar itself!
you do not need a librarian setup because the vault enchanter exists, but you will need some kind of emerald income. I normally use a classic sticks to fletcher in the early game, but more efficient trading halls aren’t terrible to have (farmers, for example, are also good). you can pick up a villager from the overworld as an item with shift+right click, just don’t do that with a villager that currently has a workstation, because that can cause pretty bad lag!
animal jars and animal pens exist! use them! an animal jar works by shift+right click while holding the jar on adult animals. place a jar with at least two animals into an animal pen to be able to breed them; hit shift to see how many animals is in the pen and the cooldown. you can use a bucket to get eggs from a chicken pen or a turtle pen. you can shear a sheep pen to get all the wool from the sheep, a bee pen to get honeycomb. to kill animals in a pen and get drops from them, just kill them with your sword. later, using some combination of modular routers and bee pens is helpful for automation.
JEI is your friend, but doesn’t show you a few vault hunters recipes (namely, any tool station or vault forge recipes). you can view those recipes in their respective workbench. however, JEI does have lists of what loot is found in each vault chest. that’s handy for pouch filtering!
a pouch with a pickup upgrade is your friend; multiple pouches is even more your friend. the sooner you can graduate to using a magnet to pick up items into pouches without using your shulker boxes, the faster you’ll get at running vaults, I promise! so as expensive as pouches seem early on, it’s really, really worth it to start using them. the filter is also handy to prevent picking up junk items.
similarly, breaking chests with vault tools will seem slow to you at first; it’s not it’s faster than manually grabbing the items from chests. you will get a quest about making vault tools, and a chest breaker should be one of your first tools when you do!
anything you find inside a chest in the vault you should keep; any vanilla items you find you should keep. however, any modded item that isn’t inside a chest in the vault can’t be an altar item, so if you’re short on storage space, you can throw those out.
early skill points should include at least one in heal and at least one in vein miner. strength is very good early game, especially all the way up to strength four. speed is really good but expensive so save getting speed until you’re ready. you only need two levels in un-specialized stonefall to negate fall damage altogether when you use the skill, which, if you’re like me and can’t mlg, is a lifesaver. I also recommend early points in dash and javelin. don’t be precious with skill points, though, they’re easy to change later! also unless you take the intelligence talent, early game you’ll NORMALLY have better strength than you do ability power for the skills that require AP. however, you can re-spec this easily later.
expertises, however, CANNOT easily be reset—you’ll get a free neuralyzer (check spelling haha) at level 50, but beyond that you need an omega pog, which is… expensive to say the least. so you SHOULD maybe be precious with these! experienced is the only one I’d say is definitively BAD. personally I recommend maxing out fortune and bounty hunter with your first 25 levels, but not everyone likes having the double bounties so that’s a “I prefer it” thing. late game, infuser and mystic are really good, but early game you won’t use those. angel is SUPER FUN and always really convenient to have but angel blocks aren’t cheap, so I never unlock it until I actually have the materials to make an angel block. jeweler is definitely actually good but I kind of hate perfecting jewels so I don’t take it, but most people who like maxing out tools do want that one.
I had a whole post about knowledge unlocks but basically, do the ones you want most as you need them, but drawers, the vault compass, double pouches, or stack upgrades are normally my first choices.
level matters more for gear than rarity, especially early game when you level through new tiers of gear quickly. if you get new gear with better implicit stats in a new, higher-level tier, replace your old gear, even if your new gear is common and your old gear was omega. later game is when having higher rarity gear will actually start to matter.
unless you’re very good at the game don’t try to be iskall, use a chestplate, not an elytra, in the vault. so you know, you don’t die.
keep up with the quest book! it’s handy like that! you can go back and read old quests too!
don’t be afraid to change your difficulty settings to whatever you have the most fun with—I basically always play in vaultMode casual and I like it that way!
watching other vault hunters like the hermits can help a lot!
and most of all: HAVE FUN!!!

Stream Recap, PearlescentMoon, 6/26/24
(A terraforming stream with Pearl! I only recapped the first two and a half hours because after that she went to play Decked Out. Decked Out is awesome and very fun, but I am not the person to do recaps and analysis of it.)
Pearl 6/26
4:00 Pearl opens her stream on audio-only. She welcomes the chat and thanks subs and donos. Today’s plan is episode prep and exclusive previews! Pearl is going to the gaming district to work on the portals and podiums! There will be terraforming and detailing! A chatter is disappointed they missed Decked Out, Pearl says Decked Out just happens sometimes. A chatter asks about Replay Mod, Pearl says she uses her cam account with Replay Mod for timelapses, because otherwise the chunks unload when she leaves to get supplies and it makes the timelapse flash. Pearl’s computer can handle two Minecraft instances at once, sometimes three! A chatter jokes about raiding Tango later, Pearl scolds them playfully and says not every stream is going to be a six hour stream, and she’s got no redstone to do today.
9:00 Pearl switches to game view inside her storage room. Hbomb has been tempting Pearl with the Hardcore Decked Out challenge he has been doing lately (collect 50 tomes with no deaths). She hasn’t decided to do it, but she is tempted. The cats are also being very distracting. Dyeductions is officially open now, but nobody has played yet. Pearl is sad. She flies to the flower shop and shows off the new improvements to the game. Hard mode isn’t ready yet, but there’s a new word for the week and all the new textures for the letters are serverside. It just needs players!
14:00 Pearl heads to the gaming district, to her build-in-progress for the district portal. Pearl is not entirely happy with the build, it is functional but not excellent. It needs more trees and texturing. Chat thinks it’s a cute building. Pearl hoped to have all this done last week, but it’s nearly done now. A chatter asks about a Soup Group collab, Pearl loves collabing with Impulse and Gem but this is Season 10 and there are lots of Hermits on the server to work with! A chatter asks about games in the district, Pearl is going to build an enlarged version of her Bin-Go game from last season, with a red light/green light mechanism added on. She was thinking about a different, larger game but that’s for next season now. She has so many projects!
21:00 More talk about the new Bin-Go game. There will be challenges to help players get items faster and lessen the running. Pearl waxes her copper and quickly disclaims any suggestions that she might build Decked Out 3. That is Tango’s baby and she is nowhere near that skill level. A chatter suggests Decked In, where hermits just relax on deck chairs, Pearl thinks Keralis has that sewn up for the season. She begins chopping down trees and shaping the landscape. Chat asks what she’s enjoying about this season. She likes everyone being close together, it’s fun! She also likes learning redstone and the solarpunk theme for her base. Chat shouts out the mail system. Pearl also likes the mail, but she wants it to do something new and exciting with it.
28:50 Someone suggests gamifying the mail system to make people use it, Pearl would like people to want to use the mail without needing an extra game for it. Chat suggests the ability to mail lit TNT. Pearl thinks that’s probably not a great idea. Pretty dangerous. Someone suggests hot potato in the mail system, but Pearl knows it would just get stuck in someone’s mailbox. She’s going to brainstorm with Etho and Tango for ideas. Pearl is so low on stone that she had to pay 12 diamonds for two shulkers. It’s terrible! Chat continues to toss in more game ideas.
33:30 A chatter mentions they just watched 45 minutes of Scar in an audio feedback loop. Pearl has heard a little and is curious about that, what exactly happened there? Chat explains Scar’s audio woes from 6/23, when he left three instances of his stream running on his desktop and all looping on him for the first 45 minutes of his stream. Pearl can hardly believe that. “Oh Scar,” she says. She asks if he somehow didn’t notice. Chat explains that he knew but he didn’t know how to fix it and he couldn’t read the suggestions in chat. The tabs were hidden and he couldn’t find them for awhile. Pearl is sympathetic and also laughing. A chatter asks if Pearl is the mail lady or the flower lady, now that she has her flower crown. Pearl says she is always the mail lady, he shop does not define her! Plus she has not started advertising flower crowns yet, since hard mode on Dyeductions is not ready yet. Pearl may put up a leaderboard and make a competition, just to get people coming back. She also should probably stock the shop at some point. A chatter suggests building a postbox at the mining desert to increase mail usage, but the mailing desert, like Doc and Joe’s bases, is just really far away.
40:00 A chatter asks if Pearl will do a facecam stream soon. Pearl only uses facecam for special occasions, MCC or charity events or cat streams, but otherwise she likes to be able to relax. Facecam streams bring some pretty unpleasant chatters out of the wooodwork and Pearl prefers to avoid it. She takes another wide look at the build and decides she needs more spruce and coarse dirt for the terraforming. A chatter asks what Pearl thinks about the Minecraft movie, she cannot offer an opinion about a movie that doesn’t exist yet! She does not think she will watch a Minecraft animated series. She didn’t play Story mode, this is also not her cup of tea.
47:00 Pearl used to watch cartoons and anime, but not really very much anymore. She did watch and enjoy Arcane. She discusses subs and dubs with Chat, she prefers subs but usually watches shows while doing something else, which makes it tough to read. She talks with Chat about superhero shows. Pearl is burnt out on superhero stuff; she used to like it but was way overexposed by the huge deluge of shows and movies all at once. A chatter says they have been watching since HC2 but have never watched a stream before. Pearl welcomes them in, she is honored to be the first. A chatter asks what Pearl likes to watch in her free time; it’s pretty eclectic. A lot of times it’s just her friends’ streams, but sometimes movies from her childhood, whatever’s streaming on the streaming services, etc. She’s been watching and playing a little Stardew Valley lately. She specifically does not watch her own old videos, that is too awkward. She especially can’t watch Evo, old her making awkward content. Chat is very fond of Pearl’s old content, especially Evo.
57:00 Pearl talks a little bit about her Stardew Valley game, she played a little of it for fun just before stream. She gives a chatter advice on what to do after the community center is built. Pearl has never been interested in any of the relationships in Stardew Valley, but she’s trying to get into it in this current playthrough because if people really like you, they will give you stuff. Also there’s more game content you get access to with relationships and she wants to see more of that. So far Hailey is her highest relationship, and she is trying to win people over by giving them diamonds. She talks more about Stardew Valley strats.
1:03:00 A chatter asks Pearl who she has known the longest on Hermitcraft. She has known Gem for a very long time, longer even than she’s known Grian. ((Many Hermitcraft fans first knew of Pearl as a member of Grian’s build team before she joined Hermitcraft.)) They met before either of them were really making videos seriously, on a mutual friend’s creative server in 2016. She met Grian that same year, so they weren’t too far apart in time. In eight years, she has only seen Gem twice in person. A chatter asks how she met Grian. Pearl applied to his build crew in 2016, back when he was doing a lot of build tutorial videos and such. Grian doesn’t really have a build crew anymore, he is more likely to just ask his friends for building help when he needs it, but back then he took a chance on Pearl. A chatter is dismayed to realize that 2016 was eight years ago. Pearl says 2016 feels like a long time ago, but she graduated uni in 2017 and that doesn’t seem like so long ago! That’s the really weird part.
1:05:00 A chatter asks how Pearl met Mythical Sausage. She met him a little after Grian, she found a livestream where he was playing a modpack she was curious about. He had an open server going on to experiment with the modpack, she joined, and they’ve been friends ever since. It’s a small world! Pearl met Jimmy SolidarityGaming during Evo for the first time. They shared that server and Legacy SMP as well, but she didn’t know him that well until Empires Season One.The terraforming is going well, but Pearl needs to restock on mud bricks. She has a lot of project shulkers and has to go through them to find what she needs. A chatter says they watch Pearl’s EVO POV all the time. Pearl laughs and says there is old content of hers that she can watch, but not EVO. She was so awkward and cringy, it makes her feel bad for Grian! The chatters reminisce fondly over Pearl’s 2016 “Edgy emo” Minecraft skin. A chatter asks if Pearl’s DMs are open, she says no, she does not like to be contacted that way. A chatter remembers that Joel’s edgy skin era was Shrek; she laughs and asks “isn’t he still Shrek?”
1:09:30 A chatter says that their daughter is in the emo phase now and will definitely cringe later. Pearl agrees that’s all part of growing up. Everyone has a cringe stage and that’s okay. Pearl is pleased with the look of the portal and adds a few touches of moss for greenery. She does not love how dark the grass is in the dark oak biome. Dirt does not look good next to dark oak grass. Pearl does not like this biome. A chatter agrees and was surprised that the S9 Shopping District was in a dark oak biome. Pearl had forgotten that, but after all, there wasn’t much natural biome in the SD by the time they were done with it. A chatter asks for Minecraft drops, a month late. “NO CAPES!” yells Pearl.
1:15:30 A chatter asks about what redstone game Pearl will make in the gaming district. She tells them it will be Bin-Go, bigger, better and different than last season. She gives a little advice to the chatters who are still worried about redeeming their cape drops. A chatter asks how Pearl got so good at Minecraft building. She says she started with an oak box house just like everyone else, it’s practice and patience. Too many people watch building streams and think they can dive right into building big great stuff on their own, but you need to practice. Everyone has their own pace, everyone has the same blocks to work with.
1:22:00 Pearl runs out of jungle wood and runs home for more. She tells Chat that next week she’ll be working on the interior of her shop and that’s when she’s going to finish the audio for Dyeductions. A chatter asks about the Ore Snatcher and she admits she’s not following that storyline very much, but she’s getting big Cub vibes from the whole thing. He is, after all, the guy who built an entire museum last season based on stealing things from other Hermits. Pearl herself has had her head in Dyeduction 6-8 hours per day, she’s got no time for plotlines and not enough nerve to stick her hands into Doc’s redstone for any reason. If she had to guess, though, she’d put a stack of diamonds on Cub. Chat tries to fill Pearl in on the Ore Snatcher storyline thus far, but a lot of them are misinformed on at least one important point and there’s a lot of in-chat debate.
1:30:00 Pearl backs off for a look from far away and likes what she sees. She hears about the Glitcher sign and is rather offended that anybody would think of her when seeing a sign like that with a dollar sign replacing an S. Plus if it _were_ Pearl, there would be a lot more high-key pranking by this point. She and Chat go through the possible suspects and speculate on likely suspects. Now Pearl is curious, mostly because she wants to be right that it’s Cub. Chat agrees that Pearl is way noisier and more obvious when she’s trolling. Chat wants to know who Pearl would have for a lawyer (herself) and what she would wear to court (her cleaning lady outfit.)
1:37:00 Pearl has been using music and scented candles to relax lately, she got some good candles from Aldi. Chat hopes she has been listening to the llama song on repeat, she has not. She has been listening to some of the Eras Tour lately. Chat is pleased to know that Pearl is a Swiftie. Pearl says she appreciates a good entertainer. Pearl lies home for more dirt and coarse dirt. It’s a very dirty terraforming project. Pearl and Chat talk about various concert tours.
1:43:30 Pearl looks at the overhead shot of the portal. She needs to make decisions about color palettes for the stairs and such, but it’s hard without knowing what the road is going to look like. Nobody has started making the roads yet. Usually one person starts making roads and everyone else follows along, so Pearl could probably design the road herself if she wants to. She and chat discuss possible road blocks and how they would affect the gradient of the portal build. Chat suggests lining the road with PICKLES. Pearl likes that idea, nothing but pickles and grass! Gem would love it. Chat also has other, more helpful ideas. Pearl’s been giving the pickle thing a break lately, even though she loves nudging Gem and the easiest way is to sell out her shop. There’s nothing worse than overdoing a joke, but pickles will have their season again! Karn raids into the stream, he died 25 times on Elden Ring. Pearl scolds him playfully for spending two hours trying to brute force a boss he was underleveled for.
1:52:00 Pearl runs out of packed mud and heads home. She pauses by a house (Cleo’s?) that has had all its trapdoors flipped up and jokingly speculates on who could _possibly_ have been playing with that roof. ((Definitely Gem.)) Pearl talks about Elden Ring with Chat. A chatter thanks Pearl for getting them into Stardew Valley, Pearl is happy to take credit for that. Karn eventually comes into the room and audibly defends himself over Pearl’s mic. Pearl is unconvinced by his arguments. The phrase “Whacking and rolling” is repeated about ten fifteen twenty times. Karn uses his best Scottish accent to bid farewell to the stream and heads off. Pearl admits that she knows there is more to the game than whacking and rolling, and eventually she will play it one day.
2:00:00 Pearl color tests some stair ideas and realizes that one set of stairs is lopsided. She fixes it, which means doing a lot of retexturing along one edge of the stairs. It is 1am Pearl time. She is a bit yawnsome and decides to have a snack. This portal, she tells Chat, will not be iconic but it will be very functional. She observes that two hours of terraforming seems way longer than two hours of redstoning. When snack break is over, she gets back to work on making rocks. She and Chat talk about music and mooning, and about visiting Australia. A Chatter asks her if she’s in NSW, she says she is in Victoria. Pearl admits that while she’s doing what she needs to do in regards to building, her heart isn’t in it as much as she’d like right now. She wants to be making more games!
2:13:00 Pearl realizes she’s made a mistake in dirtying up her path with incorrect dirt. She needs a break from this build to stimulate her brain pretty soon. Chat suggests bothering Impulse, but he is gone. Pearl laments again that nobody has played Wordle this week. Chat suggests stalking Zed with a spyglass, but he is in recording mode. Besides, spyglasses are so last season. A chatter asks how many days have passed on the server so far, but Pearl doesn’t have access to that in her stats. She shows off some of her other stats from the season so far. (193k jumps! 24K mob kills, mostly endermen. 3K note blocks tuned, which confuses her until she remembers the whole fish slapping thing.) Chat wants to know about pickles, but she has only placed a modest 458 so far.
2:20:00 Pearl is running low on tuff, but not out yet. The tuff bricks are very satisfying to place. A chatter asks if she’ll watch Twitch Rivals, which for once is at a reasonable Australian hour. Pearl is not sure, 11pm is not crazy late for once, but she still might be in bed. She looks at the player list. She doesn’t know most of the players and is not sure who she would root for. She collects up some more tuff, but she is almost out even in her storage room. A chatter drops a large dono and Pearl pauses to thank them. A chatter suggests teaming up with MCC for competitive Decked Out, Pearl lets her sassy side out and suggests that would be a short MCC due to skill issues. Pearl wistfully wonders if she should just go play Decked Out. But no, she has work to do! She tells Chat about Hbomb’s hardcore challenge and what cards she has encouraged him to get or avoid.
2:32:30 Pearl runs a poll in chat on whether she should play Decked Out or keep building. The vote is fairly close, so Pearl decides it will just be a couple of runs, then come back and build. Chat is disappointed that there was no “chaotic murder spree” option, but Pearl points out that Grian is the only one available to murder and he might not appreciate too much chaotic murder. She backs out for one more look and is actually starting to like the look of the portal and path.
2:40:00 Pearl pays a visit to the Gamers Outreach Donations Monolith. She fondly reminisces about how bonkers the viewers are and how much money was raised. She would like to build out the road from the Gaming District to the monolith. Chat wants Pearl to murder Grian _so_ bad. Or rather one chatter wants Pearl to murder Grian so badly that they sent 200 dollars in donations to encourage it. Pearl appreciates the dono but she cannot be bribed. Gem can probably be bribed. Chat wants a poll on murdering Grian, but this is not up for a poll either. Joe Hills raids into the stream. He has been working on his skin for court and wants to show Pearl. Pearl is cool with this idea.
2:48:20 Joe flies down and greets Pearl. He is wearing his “Lawyer” skin, which is the Juppet skin in a skintight green jumpsuit with asymmetric sleeves and a big white @ sign on the chest. He was inspired by the lawyers from Star Trek. Pearl asks if they asymmetry is a distraction tactic. Joe explains that in the present, justice is seen as an attempt to find balance, but in the future the system recognizes the inherent futility in seeking true balance and instead seeks justice within the natural asymmetry of the universe. Or something like that. Pearl doesn’t get it either. She confirms that he still has the weird puppet mouth. Pearl asks when court is, he says it’s tomorrow and she can be in the gallery if she is not sleeping. He wishes her good luck with the stream, she wishes him good luck in court, and he heads out after a brief false start where he tries to fly without his elytra. Pearl sympathizes with that classic Hermit move.
2:50:00 Chat is a bit confused by Joe, Pearl thinks he will do well in court because he can make lots of logical and extremely weird arguments. Chat doesn’t believe he will do very well because he is Doc’s lawyer. Pearl does not actually know the details of the case, but Chat explains that Doc has basically admitted to unjustified pigslaughter a dozen times already. Pearl thinks that sounds intriguing, so if she’s awake and not doing video stuff, she might drop by and watch. She asks if there isn’t supposed to be a jury, chat explains the Bdubs system of jurisprudence. Pearl wishes Bdubs good luck.
2:54:00 Pearl drops to the standby screen to switch to Decked Out. She insists she will only go four hours today. ((Spoilers: she does not.)) Chat is very bloodlusty today and willing to back it up with money, Pearl hopes to slake their thirst for violence with Decked Out shenanigans.
((Despite her insistence that she will A: only play a few rounds of Decked Out and B: only stream for four hours, Pearl spends the next nearly-two hours playing Decked Out and does not make it back onto the Hermitcraft Season 10 server. Decked Out is very fun and probably deserves its own set of treatments from a dedicated recapper, but this particular recapper has more than enough to do just recapping Season 10.))
4:37:00 Pearl says it’s time to finish up and thanks subs and donos. She is going to do more terraforming, but it will be offstream. She’ll be back streaming on Friday! She raids into Impulse and ends her stream.

my datapack that lets you use the Brush to dye blocks... is out !
Indeed I have finally actually made something to put out into the world of minecraft. a datapack. It's been done for some time now, but I waited till 1.21 released to submit it to modrinth for review and yeah, its my first datapack, but like... it works quite well from what ive gathered basically, once you craft a brush, you can just... put a dye in your offhand, and left-click any dye-able block (excluding beds, shulker boxes, and candles) to consume the dye and change the block! currently i may plan for updating it to also add a feature where water bottles can un-dye dyed blocks, for cases where theres an uncolored version (glass, terracotta) but yeah!! it uh, ofc might have bugs. i think worst case scenario is that it takes a piece of dye from your friends offhand instead of you? probably the worst that could ever happen, i think. (also yes the name is based off of chicory: a colorful tale)

palia characters playing minecraft hcs
hopefully i got everyone but if not please do tell me 🙏
jel: spends most of his time dyeing armour and designing banners, has really efficient redstone farms set up to that end that everyone mooches off
tish: builds and decorates the most beautiful elaborate houses in the server. knows every building trick in the book. built the main lobby mostly by herself
reth: thought he was a genius when he first figured out the recipe for cake. never looks up anything and insists on discovering all the food himself
hodari: always deep in a cave somewhere with stacks of shulker boxes (courtesy of najuma). supplies the entire server, trades with tish a lot
najuma: in the nether within an hour, working towards an elytra. spends most of her time there and has an insane base
auni: goes exploring so far the only way he ever gets home is by dying and respawning in the lobby. keep inventory was enabled for him
badruu & delaila: too busy to play rip. their tech goes to auni and nai'o anyway
nai'o: built the farm empire of his dreams, but entirely without redstone so he never has time for anything else lol
kenyatta: plays during her shifts at city hall. helps najuma in the nether. hates that she organises her inventory so well
eshe: doesn't play. kicked everyone from the last server so they restarted without her
kenli: owns the server, logs in sometimes but always manages to ruin someone's project so he doesn't play as much as he'd like
einar: fishes 24/7. what can i say
hassian: lives in a dirt hut and is entirely content with that. spends most of his time taming wolves
sifuu: enchants everyone's armour, weapons and tools. sickass base. hunts for rare spawns
caleri: has a library where she manually documents every book she protects irl as a minecraft book
elouisa: dead-set on finding herobrine. subscribes to every conspiracy theory about the origins of mobs and dimensions
jina: invested in the lore. plays story mode because the usual game is too boring for her
hekla: watches over jina's shoulder and offers suggestions
chayne: doesn't own any tech
ashura: rebuilt the ormuu's horn in the lobby. kinda just enjoys the game and being online with people instead of gunning for anything in particular, but he does fish
zeki: set up a villager farm asap. its the main hub of activity in the lobby. pretty much has every farm possible going actually. charges for use so the others built their own
tamala: essentially lives the life of a minecraft witch. kicked a real one out of a hut and made it her own. set up a dungeon mob farm underneath

I'm guessing by your banner that you also like Minecraft sooooo, turtle Minecraft headcannons to spare please 🥺? Just in general, all the Donnie's are definitely into Minecraft. I feel like all the rise turtles are also definitely into Minecraft and Leo, mikey and Donnie all had a big Minecraft phase in their childhood and maybe they still play multiplayer with each other when their bored and have nothing better to do. Maybe gaming headcannons in general for the turtles?
i play it for like. a week once a year. then i get distracted by something else and forget i was playing. this cycle repeats once every twelve months. the neo-mayan calendar.
i'll do rise specifically bc im feeling soft for it rn
donnie loves fiddling with command blocks to set up the server, and he loves setting up fun traps for his brothers. he's huge into redstone and builds amazing contraptions. his base is one where you have to fall through lava to get inside, and he has, like. fifty secret rooms for all his loot. he has the most optimum selection of armor and always wears his elytra so he can fly out of trouble. he has 500 cats at every build so creepers can't come by and blow them up.
raph loves the combat. he never uses a shield bc it makes it 'too easy.' at any given moment, the lower left hand of the screen is filled with his death messages. he also loves the exploration part, and he's always sending coordinates for interesting things for people to check out later. his base is a dirt box with a single bed and one chest filled with some string, a single diamond, four pieces of steak, a dark oak slab, a soul strider book, and two brown mushrooms. full netherite armor (mostly bc he keeps dying in the nether and everyone got tired of him burning through all their diamonds, so they pulled together and farmed up enough netherite to give him something that wouldn't burn up)
mikey is the builder on the server. he likes to beautify things and terraform, and his base is a custom mountain valley he built in the middle of a flower forest biome. he can make every block look good. raph's house actually makes him angry, like legit, but raph won't let him pretty it up for him. he dies to creepers a lot bc he never remembers to light up his builds, and they sneak up on him while he's listening to music and building. he wears unenchanted iron armor (except when donnie forces some blast protection iv on his ass) except for his feather falling iv diamond boots.
leo's here for the mining. he loves collecting shit and bringing it back home. he'll go out with an inventory of shulker boxes, stuff 'em full, then bring them home and go back out again. he's the spine of the server; sitting afk at the witch farm so donnie can get enough redstone, going out and getting more terracotta so mikey can finish his trading hall, and helping raph collect his shit when he dies in the end and oh god maybe his elytra landed on the side???? he'll also put on a playlist and just strip mine for hours until he runs through his fourth diamond pickaxe and has to go to the gold farm to repair it up. never upgrades to netherite armor because the diamond armor is blue.
#ask tag#fragment tag#i actually prefer terraria over minecraft but that's such a funny picture i don't know if i'll ever be able to change it

In all seriousness, it's really interesting seeing the parallels between the inventory clutter issue vs the ID system; back before The Flattening in 1.13, mojang had a serious issue with Minecraft where they were using Numeric IDs for all blocks/items/mobs/etc, so they had to seriously limit what they could add to the game. Now, there's a ton ov really obvious blocks and items that the game is missing only because they're running into issues with inventory space. This is, I think, why they're so opposed to a bandaid solution like just increasing the inventory space. All that would do is move the deadline before they need to do it again, obviously, but they've run into this issue before.
They need to effectively figure out a way to "flatten" the inventory, so that all future blocks & items can not necessarily fit in it at the same time, but be accessible and easy to organize. It isn't as straight-forward as backpacks, inventory expansion, or hotbar swapping mods make it seem. We need a full inventory rework, & I have (almost) no idea how they're going to accomplish that. Bundles, I think, were a step in the right direction, but they're too similar to shulker boxes in that players can't really access the items inside them easily. They're more like a mobile chest than a fix to any actual problem.

oh ok this is going to be an entire essay. Oh fuck. Okay yall buckle up i have a lot of thoughts on this topic let's go
Inventory Headcanons in the MCYT Universe, specifically relating to Fanworks and Common Interperetations of the Minecraft Inventory in art and writing
+ my personal ideas for how it works because yippee autism
Part 1: How the Minecraft Inventory Works Inside the Game
Okay, starting off simple here. If you are reading this, then you probably know how the Minecraft inventory system works. I do not care. I am covering all of the bases here.
This is a screenshot of the Minecraft inventory! (I am aware that it was taken before the update that added the offhand slot, but bear with me here.)
All of the slots that are shown here except for the armor slots can hold any 64 items or blocks, with exceptions for containers of liquids, tools, armor, and weapons (nonstackable). Exceptions are also made for snowballs, eyes of ender, ender pearls, and buckets, which stack up to 16. The crafting grid can contain any 64 items as well, but these don't stay in place after you exit the inventory screen.
All of these slots are carried physically on the player itself, which has caused a LOT of discussion amongst the Minecraft community on how the fuck this 6-foot-tall square man is able to hold uhhhh [checks notes] 4 billion pounds of gold. Damn.
The answer, naturally, is that this is a very simplistic video game not meant to be realistic at all (it's cubes, goddamnit) and Steve can just do that. Moving on.
For the purposes of this essay, we are going to be completely ignoring the physical feats of this inventory and focus specifically on the mechanics of it.
1a: The Boring Stuff (Mechanics of How it Actually Works)
The inventory can be accessed by pressing a button on your keyboard, Switch joycon, phone, Samsung Smart Fridge, VR controller, or whatever the fuck you guys are playing Minecraft on these days. Here's a list of the default settings used to open the Minecraft inventory.
PC or anything with a keyboard: E
Xbox 360, Xbox One controller: Y
PlayStation 3, 4, and Vita controllers: The green triangle
Nintendo Switch and Wii U (wait WHAT): X
Mobile Devices: The … on the right hand side of the hotbar
Items go into the hotbar first when picked up and into the top-right corner of the inventory first if the inventory is empty and the hotbar is full.
You can close the inventory by pressing more buttons on the keyboard which I won't include here. Just look it up.
1b: Shulker Boxes and +NBT Chests
The shulker box is a placeable item in game that is obtained by visiting the End. It has 27 item slots, which is 9 less than the full player inventory, and unlike chests and barrels it does not drop all of its contents onto the floor upon being broken. You cannot access the contents of shulker boxes while they are inside of your inventory.
If you placed 27 stacks of gold blocks into 36 shulker boxes and placed all of those inside of your inventory, that would be a fuck ton of gold in there. This is a well-known fact.
Also in Creative mode you can middle-click a filled chest and get the entire chest plus its contents right in your inventory which will be there which I wanted to mention. Oh right. Creative mode. I should pr
1c: The Creative Mode Inventory
You can access the entirety of the game's materials in Creative mode except for a select few of them, which players have naturally figured out how to get anyways.
1d: INFORGOT TO MENTION THIS BUT YOU CAN MAKE ACTUAL MODIFICATIONS TO THE IN-GAME INVENTORY.
With resource and data packs, you can change the color and opacity of your inventory. You can also hover over shulker boxes to view their contents without having to actually place them on the ground and open them.
Modifications to the game (colloquially shortened to "mods") can also increase the inventory size. I will not be focusing on these because the possibilities are literally endless here and I am tired.
Part 2: A Slightly Unhinged Analysis on Fanworks and Fanart on General that I have Pulled Straight Out my Ass.
Okay. So we have an inventory. How the hell does this translate to fanart, fanfiction, etc?
For the answer to this, we are going to have to take a look at how people actually take the universe of Minecraft and translate it to a semi-realistic or realistic style. You thought it was going to be a straightforward post about interperetations of inventory in Minecraft but it was me, Dio! I should really turn this post into a video essay.
2a: Canon Compliance, Canon Complicity, and This Is Only Technically Minecraft but I Have To Add It Here Anyways for the Sake Of My Autism
Generally in fanworks, there is a scale on how strict the work keeps to the actual canon interperetation of the universe. This also applies to the stories being told within the universe but don't worry about it I'm not poking that lion today.
The points I have labeled on the scale (really oversimplified) are:
Type 1 (Hold very strict to the game mechanics and how the inventory works within the game.)
Type 2 (Still within the universe of Minecraft, or in a setting that at least resembles Minecraft, but with some creative liberties taken with how game mechanics and inventories work- sometimes completely ignoring them for the sake of whatever the creator chooses.)
Type 3 (Not even in Minecraft at all. I'm only including this here for the amount of characters from roleplays that are placed in other video game settings or just fuckin' into real life.)
I think those explain themselves and if they don't then I have failed as a writer.
Part 3: The Part People Actually Clicked On The Readmore For (Types of Inventory Descriptions and Depictions in Fanworks)
3a: Text-Based Works (Fanfiction and Meta-Posting)
Generally in Minecraft-based or Minecraft-adjacent settings (type 1 and 2 works), authors either do not mention the inventory at all, bring it up in passing but do not explain how it works, forego the inventory entirely in favor of real-world storage solutions like pockets, bags, and boxes (almost entirely restricted to Type 2 works), or come up with creative in-universe ways to explain the inventory, some of which use the Minecraft enchantment system.
Authors who do not mention the inventory or mention it but don't explain how it works in the universe can't really be expanded on due to its meaning meant to be interpreted by the reader.
Of the authors who do elaborate on their inventory systems, there are a couple ways I have seen this done:
Real-world solutions (pockets, bags, etc), sometimes used in conjunction with fantasy solutions.
Edited real-world solutions, such as infinite pockets or small bags always on the player's person.
Sigils, magical objects, enchantments, and things of that sort that allow the player to access their inventory via gestures or tactile movements. This also includes the use of holographic displays and in-game commands.
Straight-up summoning or storing the relevant items at will.
This gets an honorable mention because it's fucking hilarious but there was this one tumblr post like "the player says e and teleports into a pure white room"
I KNOW there's more out there but these are the examples I've seen around Tumblr and ao3.
3b: Visuals-Based Works (Fanart, including comics, animatics, and posters)
Most visual interperetations of the Minecraft inventory are type 1 or just use the "real-world solutions" option. You don't see a lot of these in the wild in my experience, but from the things I've seen, some popular visualizations of the Minecraft inventory include:
Holograms and command screens, often used in conjunction with the in-game chat as a multitool
Straight-up summoning at will
Backpacks! People draw them to look SO COOL on a character-by character basis.
all of these designs fucking slap so hard by the way i dont make the rules. mcyt artists are out here doing the work of renaissance painters for zero dollars and next to zero credit
3c: Other Forms of Media (Live-Action Adaptions and Plays, I Guess?)
I have ZERO idea how someone would translate the Minecraft inventory to a real-life setting but I assume the result would be a Type 3 real-world solution, due to real life not having magic and also not being in the Minecraft universe.
If anyone ever figures out how to carry 162 million pounds of gold on their person without instantly eating shit and dying, firstly I respect and fear you secondly hit me up my back fucking sucks and I have too many books in my backpack at any given time.
3d: Customization Within Universes and Cross-World Universal Items
Many artists in the MCYT fandom, whether their wheelhouse be writing or visual art, have been in several subsections of the fandom or are actively in several at once. Due to the overlap in creator circles and the fact that Minecraft is over ten years old at this point, this is quite normal and the same creator behind a character may be on several different servers or have several different characters currently being played at the same time.
Due to this, many artists and writers have developed different designs for several iterations of the same character, for lack of a better way to explain it. This can be expressed in clothing changes, nonhuman characteristics, and, a common one that popped up alongside the rise of the DSMP, universal communicators.
Communicators are not in the game as a physical object. Rather, they are an entire fan-made concept that allows the characters to chat universally across a server they're in, no matter how far away. (Hermitcraft is an interesting case here. I'm looking at you, Solar. I saw that radio range comment in DATD.)
Since inventories do not share their contents across multiple worlds, the same is also true for most fanworks including them. Nevertheless, there are some exclusions and more permanent items on some characters, varying between artist and character. Some of these include:
Emotionally significant items (i.e ones that remind them of friends, family, lovers, etc)
Little trinkets hung from belts or keychains
Items that aren't really affixed to the character but are either shown in the character's Minecraft skin or are prominent in fanon (i.e, Slimecicle's glasses, Xisuma's helmet having admin-y properties, Pixlriffs' Empires SMP Season 2's character having glasses and sometimes a knee brace)
These items and how they may apply across some servers but not all could be an entire post of their own. Fanon is huge and I'd love to document that but that is Not the point of this essay. Maybe later.
On the subject of different designs for different characters, I'd like to bring up:
Sort of relevant to section 3d: different inventories depending on characters
Basically, some characters could have bags. Some have holograms. Some have magical tattoos or sigils that let them access it. Some defy all known laws of God or man and do some crazy shit with their inventories just because they can. It all depends on the artist or author's preferences, baby!
This often is related to headcanons and character designs. It can also vary for server, universe, etc.
Which NOW brings me to,
Section 4: Thoughts? You have thoughts on this? Share your thoughts maybe?
yeah i have no consistent anything for anything. really it just depends on the setting and what i'm in the mood for.
for example, in our Type Two fics like Ashes AU and Twice, generally the characters use real-world solutions with modifications (enchanted bags, etc). But for quicker oneshots and crackfics, we tend to elaborate on inventory space and let the game mechanics do all the work.
The Summary:
Fandom is huge and theres so much layers to this shit its legitimately unreal. I could write an entire thesis paper on the MCYTblr side of things alone and I might just do that when I hit college, if I ever do. For now, though, I'm just gonna sit here wondering why the fuck I dedicated an entire section to how the minecraft inventory works like what the fuck dude. why did i do that.
thanks for reading. i write words. follow perhaps if you would like to see more?

I've been reading a bit of Minecraft fics and it's got me thinking about the chain in linked universe a little bit so I'm gonna share what I've been cooking.
Linked universe Minecraft au where they all have very similar code, so when all nine of them just happen to enter a portal at the same time, something goes horribly wrong and they all get trapped in a new empty world together.
In order to escape they have to make it to the end and defeat the dragon, but that's only if they can figure out how to get along and stop sabotaging each other.
All the player ideas I have so far, this might make a little more sense if you're familiar with Evo, hermit craft and origins/mob hybrid lore but I kinda made up some watcher society stuff-
Sky is all fish out of water with the whole thing. He spends most of his time in the end on an island with other watchers. He essentially never switched out of creative mode.
The world he lives in is also legacy, it has the islands but he's never seen chorus or shulkers, essentially it's a wasteland with some obsidian watcher structures. Even if he knew everything about the blocks he did have, he's still entirely held back by having no clue what all the new stuff is.
In fact, his girlfriend oversees an entire cluster of the last remaining legacy worlds, and he is very proud of her. His player form is a parrot hybrid because the one time he went to a different world to get some nice bright blue flowers for her that he heard about from a passing mobile watcher, he saw a parrot and thought they were cooler than bats.
___________
Four is a shulker because you can dye them in bedrock and they literally just multiply by beating themselves up. They are also just tiny little guys so it all falls into place.
Four's shell has each color and he shoots himself to split. Essentially he's four little guys living in the same shell. It gets cramped in there.
The colours are the ones forging gear and hiding them in random end cities. That's how they spend their time at least.
They are researching a way to help out their brother who was cursed by a blighted watcher, vio also holds this curse but shadow took the brunt of it. They still have shadow's empty shell, and it no longer comes with them when they combine into four.
________________
Time is a risen watcher, apparently he beat the hell out of a watcher that was tormenting a small world, messing with the moon and time and such, and once he did that he told off the super ancient watcher that only helped him at the last second, despite having the ability to fix it all along.
This fierce deity watcher was impressed with him in general, and marked him as his own son, making Time a watcher himself.
Watchers can choose what their player form presents as, and Time chooses to come across as a non-hybrid regular player. This is strange, because non-hybrids are famously plain and lack any sort of basic adaptability, but Time just swaps origin when the situation calls for it, so it's not a problem for him.
Time was also involved in an incident that affected the history of a lot of newer worlds, even before he became a watcher himself, but whatever this was is largely covered up and he can't speak about it.

Legend hops worlds. A lot. Like a bunny (he's a bunny). He goes to worlds that have problems and helps solve them to avoid his own.
He's been to so many corrupted worlds and spent so long in them that his code is soup basically. He can run commands and use magic despite literally being some random rabbit.
He can't turn off keep inventory, his stuff also comes with him when he hops worlds, so naturally he has a lot of things.
He has the direct favour of all three watchers in the second highest circle of power, so is largely left unchecked in his shenanigans. Occasionally they come to coo over him like doting wine aunts and it terrifies anyone in radius.
If he's submerged in water he completely glitches out and becomes a mer tropical fish type hybrid, one of them blue and pink ones.
Switching back involves beaching himself so he'd rather avoid it.
He can split into three types of parrot hybrids. Chooses not to as it just summons two rabbits to possess the green and blue parrot. The other two like him and will help out, but they find it uprooting.
There's a huge part of his personal player log that's just missing. It's from the one world he couldn't save, and he's the only one left to mourn it.

Hyrule is an allay trapped in an ultra hardcore world where nobody beat the first guardian dragon. A fate worse than death basically.
The entire world is one biome. Mesa.
No one in the world knows why, but not a single soul has any memory of a life before this particular world and for some reason killing the dragon didn't open it up, so everyone is really just waiting around to starve to death.
Hyrule himself beat the dragon twice on his own, though it was futile, but other expeditions resulted in massive casualties, so why did this dinky allay survive two whole times? With no witnesses except the server wide dying cry?
Through a series of conspiracies and nothing better to do, a cult of haters formed, convinced that if they kill Hyrule, not the dragon, that the world would finally open up. As you can imagine, scarce resources, a hoard of mobs by night and fanatical players by day can really wear a guy down.
He hasn't told anyone, but he really thinks he broke everything, he has access to commands and has been using them to cast fire, lightning, heal himself despite the hardcore status and other such small things, but he doesn't know any command that can make things better, and blames himself.

I have a pretty good idea of what the background is for those five of the chain members, but I haven't played any of the switch games yet so I haven't a clue what to do with wild. Maybe a fox but I'm not sure, I do know that I want him to tie in with twilight.
Wind could be a breeze, but I'm not sure how to tie that in with pirating so maybe a dolphin? And I'm also completely lost with wars. Happy to take suggestions, or really just get this idea out of my head and into the void lol

Fabric Mods I Use For A Vanilla+ Experience
I don’t use many mods, but I do use a few mods and datapacks in order to improve some quality of life things, and add a few fun features. I’ve played with these mods for years (though some are more recent additions), and I’ve absolutely loved it and now I can’t play without them. Let’s go through them.
Xaero’s Minimap and World Map
This is a pretty simple mod! It adds a customisble minimap and world map, with built in waypoint system for easy navigation and teleportation. The menus can be a little daunting, but once you get it set up you never need to look at them again! I love being able to keep track of how far my miscellaneous adventures take me, especially since I play on a large biomes world.
Optifine & Optifabric
A well known essential, optifine improves graphical processing for Minecraft and adds support for other mods visual features. It also gives me a zoom button, which I once tried to press in real life while trying to look at something far away. Thanks optifine.
I also use optifabric, which is just a compatibility mod to make optifine run with the fabric installation.
Dye Depot
Probably my biggest departure from vanilla, dye depot adds 16 new dyes and accompanying coloured blocks to help fill in a couple of those transitionary colour gaps. As a builder, I cannot stress how much this has inspired creativity and given life to old builds. I mainly play on my project world, where I’m building a big island covered in different themed builds and after spending over a year on it, some of the older builds started to disappoint me a little. Not anymore! All these beautiful new blocks add much desired vibrancy!
Fish of Thieves
Now I actually added this mod to my build project server for my partner, who wanted to see more life in the oceans with different kinds of fish other than just cod and salmon and the occasional tropical fish. However, there is one feature this mod adds that we have been absolutely obsessed with: fish mounts. Now that might sound really weird until you look at the fish mounts and realise they are just better, more decorated signs. I use signs so much in building and rarely do I need to write on them so the fish mounts’ variations are such a delight.
Just look at them.
Amendments
Amendments is a recent addition to my server but I’ve already used so many of its excellent features. From stacking skulls, to hanging signs off fence posts and lanterns on walls, to carpeted stairs and slabs, amendments has had excellent compatibility with my other mods and added some features I never knew I needed so badly.
Infinite Trading
Infinite trading does exactly what you think it does. I abuse this regularly,
Vanilla Tweaks
Technically not a mod but a datapack! Vanilla tweaks is very well known and incredibly customisable through their website. Personally I love extra mob heads, mini blocks, cauldron concrete, fast leaf decay, multiplayer sleep, armour statues and extra shulker shells. I use a lot of these features very regularly and if you don’t want to or can’t mod your Minecraft game, please consider trying out some Vanilla Tweaks datapacks.
And that’s everything! Hopefully you’ve seen something interesting here, let me know if you use any of these and what mods you like to use for that vanilla+ modded experience :) also i am not sponsored and wasnt asked to make this post by anyone, these are just my thoughts :)
