comparing twisty openly saying “im transphobic” “all my fans are r*t*rded” “theyre just a bunch of twitter tr*nnies” “hes indian so he smells like curry, its the stench of brown” and “every black man ive met is evil”… to uki making “white people be like” jokes is genuinely deranged behavior… like theyre anywhere near the same ballpark…. and yet the same crowd calling uki racist calls her based? 🤔

being so staunchly anti generative ai while everyone around you is "i used chatgpt" and "i asked grok" and google search is useless and every company is implementing ai and every single celeb is taking ai money and partnering with ai is like... it's so jarring. why can't you see the harm like i can? why are you so lazy? why are we making society this stupid? can we please stop? it's killing people does that not matter to you?

This whole thing about scanning your face to prove tour age is making me remember, in 2018 while out in paris we got our wallet stolen during a particularly busy night at a lesbian bar. It was very late and with no money to buy metro tickets we were effectively stranded, but some people helped us and we ended up staying the night at a really sweet older man's place. His face was deeply scarred and he was missing an eye. We chatted on our way and he told me about his life, probably to help calm me down. He explained he had been stuck in a house fire 20 years ago and had had multiple rounds of facial reconstruction and a skin graft, but there's only so much surgery can do so he just learned to live with it. I remember he said he liked the queer bars because they're the only place people don't really stare at him.
At some point I took out my phone, and at the time I was using face unlock. This prompted him to tell me all the ways this technology doesn't work on him. How his phone selfie camera doesn't focus right because it's not a detecting a face. How he had to update his ID the old fashioned way, because the website kept rejecting his photos. And how it was becoming more and more common, and how it was making his life way harder.
This was 7 years ago, and now whenever I see this sort of technology I think of how that guy can't use it. And how house fires are pretty common, and how anything from being born this way to a skin condition to heavy tattooing can probably cause the same issue. Can these people get age verified ? Will they just lose access to all social media, which are increasingly necessary in society, if this becomes the norm ? These are people who are already driven out of public spaces due to how they look, and they're getting pushed out online too all in the interest of companies wanting more money.

“You can’t live like this baby, in hate.”
Bitch this alien species has taken over her planet, destroyed it for some stupid metal, demolished hometree, killed her sister, her dad, her best friend, her teacher, her ikran, and when she finally thinks they’re gone forever, the man she thought she had killed comes back along with the rest of the humans, they find and hurt her kids, she then has to flee her home, she has to say goodbye to everything she’s ever known, her mother, her sanctuary, her family isn’t welcome in their new ‘home’, her mate and children are being called demons, she's struggling to adapt and fit in, and then, when she thinks it couldn’t get any worse, they go and kill her first born child, too.
I think she’s allowed to hate.

I'll never break a bottle of champagne against a ship before her first voyage and I'll never cut a ribbon with giant scissors for the grand opening of a building but by god when I buy a label maker the first label I print is going to be a label that says label maker and it is going on the label maker

I think for the past ten years or so, people have reduced patriarchy to "hatred of women" as if it's simply about personal prejudice. In that case it actually makes sense why so many women think the solution is educating people better. If the issue was just that women aren't liked then campaigns about "loving women" or "teach your sons to respect women" would work.
But patriarchy is not a misunderstanding it's a power structure. And all power structures are held up by those with the power benefiting, not those with power not "knowing better". Ending Patriarchy essentially means you are asking billions of people to give up their power, and the obvious response from people with power is "make me"
I don't expect Bezos to redistribute his wealth because I explained labour rights, so patriarchy isn't any different. You'll never give oppressors moral awakenings. The entire point of power structures is people benefiting from harm while being emotionally insulated from it.
Taking on the burden of making men understand just seems like emotional labour scaled up.

I hate car culture just as much as the next person but as someone who lives in the middle of fucking nowhere and is still closer to a town than a lot of rural people, you've gotta accept that cars and other forms of personal transportation are always gonna exist in some form. We can't eliminate it entirely (and we shouldn't try, personal transportation is also something that a lot of disabled people heavily depend on, especially severely immunocompromised people and people who have large equipment they need to bring with them) but we can focus on making it more sustainable AND providing more public transportation options for people who can and will make another choice when given the opportunity.
