I shifted

I shifted to my nana dr for about six months (even though only six seconds have passed here, since I set the time so that one month in the dr equals one second in this reality). I'm still a little confused from coming back, but overall, I feel good.

This dr isn’t my main one but could become my main one. Before I share some details, I want to clarify that this DR doesn't follow the anime’s storyline. For example, that asshole Takumi will never meet Hachi. I'll try to keep it brief, as I don't like talking too much about my dr after all, it is real life .

I live about 15 minutes away from Hachi and Nana’s apartment, in a suburb of Tokyo. I work at a bakery and also do art. Living in Tokyo between 1998 and 1999 is a mix of nostalgia and surreal. It's hard to describe precisely. I’ve also learned to live without modern smartphones, using those old brick phones with buttons instead. This has taught me to live more in the moment, without the constant need to check social media or waste hours scrolling through TikTok, aimlessly losing time.

In this dr, I’m learning to be more independent. Thanks also to my experiences in my Kpop drs, I've learned to manage an apartment on my own here: I do the laundry, cook, manage my budget, pay bills, and work in the bakery. Oh, and I'm also studying to get my driver's license.

I’ve also started learning to play the guitar, especially thanks to Nana. Playing has always been a huge dream of mine, but I never had the chance to do it in this reality. Once, I even got emotional with joy while holding the guitar in my hands, because it’s something I’ve always loved doing.

My relationship with Hachi and Nana is really great.

Hachi is very close to me; she often texts to ask how I’m doing, how work is going, and invites me to hang out on weekends or go to the pub together. I love going out with her because she’s unashamed of anything or anyone, and with her, I never feel judged. She also has a great sense of style. Even though colorful clothes aren’t really my thing, she’s helped me find a style that suits me. I must admit, though, that she requires a lot of patience since she’s a bit naive.

As for Nana Osaki, I really love her a lot. She’s given me so much advice on some of my personal concerns, and she’s the kind of person who could listen to you for hours. She shows her affection through sarcastic jokes. We share the same taste in music. It took a little while for her to fully trust me and start confiding in me, but I understand her, and our bond has grown over time.

I’m still getting to know Shin and Nobu. Shin is very reserved, but I feel like we’ll become great friends. Nobu, on the other hand, has already opened up, and we’ve quickly become close.

Next time I shift, I’ll come back with a suitcase full of Vivienne Westwood clothes, necklaces, and rings!

you know the toby-typical campiness in how he writes his characters in UTDR? over the top, extremely iconic, clearly working from preestablished tropes but doing his own special spin on them? put toby fox on acid and you've got shu takumi's writing style.

ghost trick isn't "just" good. ghost trick is the type of good that invents a whole new categorization for itself. ghost trick invented a situation to put little fictional bitches in that is so good, the most popular works in the tag are people from other fandoms being like "oh shit, let me put MY fictional bitches through in this situation as well"

it is one of the most hooking, satisfyingly delivered mysteries I've ever seen in a videogame. there is not a single second of the game that feels unutilised, everything pushes you forward in the mystery, and still it never feels choking. the way it handles tension and delivers its information is phenomenal. if this were a normal recommendation i would start talking about the gameplay and how fun and good it feels to play and how genuinely clever it is but you're not here for that, are you, so let me tell you the real selling point: every single character in this game is fucking insane. not a single one of them is normal. it's a noir. it's a parody. it's an animator's wet dream. my friend is playing the game on stream and they said his fiancée can tell when we're streaming because she can hear him doing his pathetic man voice on call.

listen to me. you will fall in love with sissel. i played One Shot earlier this year. i thought i was never going to find a game with a protagonist that crawled into my heart as much as niko. i was wrong. jesus christ i was wrong. you need to understand, this is a puzzle game. once you know the answers that's it for the gameplay. the replay value is extremely low. I have replayed it 5 times in three weeks just to make the wrong choices and watch what sissel says and quips about it. he's my guy. i need to hold his face in my hands. you will see his fuckass red suit, you will see his fuckass banana hair, you willl see his goofy little smile and his dirk strider ass sunglasses and you will whimper like a DOG because you miss him so much. i am missing him right now as we speak. fuck.

NANA Analysis: the bathtub theory, love and self-destruction.

This isn’t a topic widely discussed due to the abrupt hiatus of NANA, but our dear Ai Yazawa loves to work with foreshadowing, and we have enough clues to consider that something really bad happened between the two timelines.

Nana is a realistic work, and we can see representations of self-destructive behaviors in many characters. When it comes to Nana Osaki and Nana Komatsu (whom I'll refer to as Hachi to make things easier), we can see these behaviors manifesting with anyone they love.

Due to her abandonment trauma, when Nana feels love for someone this can bring out her worst side: possessiveness, selfishness, jealousy, and envy. Ren is Nana’s first love, and through him, she forms a special connection with music and be singer becomes her dream. However, Nana considers her dreams and her pride more important than anything else.

For Hachi, love is more idealized… she follows the ‘formula’: fall in love > date > get married > have children > happily ever after. But Hachi doesn't just idealize love, she also idealizes who she loves.

So I think that ‘love’ becomes a self-destructive emotion for both of them. When Nana feels abandoned by those she loves (Ren and Hachi < mainly this woman), she experiences mental gaps (forgets about what she done and what happen) and also hyperventilates. Nana briefly talks about her mental gaps when she remembers the memory of her mother left her behind in the snow (while wearing red heels, which Nana realizes may not be a reliable memory). Also, she and Ren have this toxic relationship with no perspective for future, which hurts them a lot.

Then… we have Hachi, who has an insatiable desire to be loved, and this becomes ‘the compass’ for all the bad decisions she’ll make throughout her journey. Groomed by an older man in high school, moves to Tokyo with many dreams and ends up getting cheated on, and meets Takumi. Well, you already know the rest. The problem with this Nana isn’t particularly in how she loves people; she can be selfish at times, but her love is genuine, she’s not the priority. Like Nana Osaki says she’s a ‘puppy’: you kick the puppy, it gets hurt, but then the puppy always comes back to you. Hachi’s problem is that she has no self-love, pride won't be a problem, she's able to see herself as the villain in any situation (even with Takumi).

The relationships between Ren and Nana, and Hachi and Takumi are toxic in different ways. We can see both Nanas struggling with the frustration of these relationships. Nana hurts her pride so she can have some control over Ren, but it doesn’t really work.

Nana: [You can't make people do what you want. Even if you cry... or shout... or cling to them.]

And even though Hachi tries to follow this 'formula', she can’t fill the emptiness inside her, living a life full of regrets.

Hachi: [It's like the jealousy of a woman who wasn't capable of being happy... Always acting on stage, alone, running in circles no matter what she did.]

Let’s get to the point: What happened in the bathtub? I’ll start with the numerous foreshadowings about self-harm and drowning in water. I've lost count of how many times Junko and Kyosuke talked about this:

Kyosuke: [That’s scary… she might even slit her wrists, who knows.]

Junko: [Girl... I was knocking so hard for so long. I was scared you’d slit your wrists with a razor blade! (I could see it all... Blood spurting out...)]

and there's more and more... let's skip

So for some reason, everyone is convinced that Hachi is going to cut her wrists because of a heartbreak, which never even crosses her mind lol, as we can see she had other plans:

Hachi: [That night... If Nana hadn’t been there for me... I would have thrown myself into the Tama river. I’m sure of that.]

The irony is… when it comes to representations of drowning or anything related to water, Nana is the focus. We have this scene in manga, and in anime opening, we see a lot of scenes of Nana drowning.

The bathtub is more symbolic between Nana and Ren; Ren was constantly using the bathtub to ‘drown in drugs’, Reira and Takumi seem aware of this. But again, the bathtub is also extremely symbolic between Nana and Hachi, we can see some intimate moments there. And of course, Ai Yazawa wants to make us freak out. When we are convinced that Nana is the one who got hurt in the bathtub, it relates back to Hachi when she talks to Miu:

Later in the ‘present’ timeline, we’ll also see Nobu worried about Hachi while se prepares a bath for him, but Hachi is someone who could be greatly affected by a possible suicide attempt from Nana. Nana also has that death pact with Ren, in last chapters, we can see that her situation it’s not good, she’s still clinging to love to live, in this case, holding on to Hachi. To be fair, Hachi is also in a terrible situation, she’s pregnant; her hormones are all over the place, and the postpartum it’s cruel.

But I don’t think Ai Yazawa would repeat what’s happened with Shin’s mother, although Hachi is very close to that role now; after all, no matter what others think, ‘I’m his mother’. The situation of Shin’s mother it’s a parallel to Hachi’s pregnancy at certain points, especially since Yazawa wants to keep the mystery of the baby’s paternity.

Anyway, Nana, all we know is that she disappeared and everyone thought she was dead, with rumors like ‘She died at sea’.

Nana: [Any place was fine with me… As long as I could see the sea. I can die whenever I want… As long as I know the sea’s nearby. I came here… Looking for a place to die. So why… am I still here?]

The only doubt in my mind is that the women of the Osaki family are naturally runaways. Nana could have simply run away from the start. But she’s still the strong candidate, since she mentions that Hachi saved her life and since BOTH are named Nana, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hachi was just a misleading clue all this time. Junko and Kyosuke calls Hachi for her name (Nana), but maybe I’m just overthinking.

Is getting long, so to wrap up, I want to talk about the meaning of the name Ren (蓮), especially since we have two characters named Ren in Nana. The lotus flower in Buddhism represents the belief in samsara, the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. Also, is often seen as a symbol of purity because it rises and blooms beautifully above the muddy waters from which it grows. This imagery represents the idea of achieving spiritual purity despite difficult circumstances.

Nana’s Ren is dead, and given everything he represented to her, it’s entirely understandable that she feels lost. On the other hand, Hachi’s Ren has yet to be born, and it’ll likely be her greatest point of development. Although Nana seems strong enough to overcome anything, she’s not, while Hachi, who is seen as fragile, manages to persist through difficulties. It’s as if their roles initially invert: Hachi gains strength, and Nana weakens (I'm just making a comparison with the beginning of the story). Nana and Hachi continue to live with the hope that ‘Life is about getting knocked down over and over, but still getting up each time. If you keep getting up, you win’. This is something Nana learned from Ren and taught to Hachi. It’s simply beautiful how, despite everything, their love for each other is what keeps them strong, even when apart; love has become a form of healing for Nana and Hachi.

I've wanted to write about this for a while, now that I’ve read NANA 777 times, I can talk about it with more confidence hehe.

When you show up he’s bright red. You’re not even wearing and saying anything spectacular he’s just so nervous lol

You sit next to each other and talk snack and laugh about everything and anything 

After the cafe you head to the park

And after that you go to little stores you see along the way

Mitsui buys you a stuffed animal you were looking at and you bought him a chain necklace he glanced at

It was a really great valentines, especially since it was first

“T-thanks for being my valentine (y/n). I’m glad i get to spend it with you.”

Matt Holt:

He makes this super cool heart shaped projector thing!

He hands you this heart 

It rises shifts into being a projector that displays all of your favorite memories together

It shows the new inductee dance and how the two of you jumping around without a care in the world

Then it shows a lazy night of the both of you “studying” for an exam as the camera zooms into Matt’s face and your giggles from behind the camera

And one of your favorite memories of all, your day at the beach together. Throwing water at each other, making sand castles, resting you head in his shoulder as the sun goes down 

“Matt…this is beautiful… I-I’m speechless…!”

“It’s alright.” He begins, “I know what you’re gonna say. I love you too.”

Taehoon Seong

Mans has no idea what to do

He acts like he doesn’t care as Hansu tries to give him ideas but really he’s terrified of messing something up

So when the day comes you hear a knock on the door you’re surprised to see a nicely dressed Taehoon with a rose in his hand

“Happy Valentine’s Day idiot.”

You smile and kiss his cheek. “Thank you Tae Tae!”

You Motion for him to come in

When he does there’s a nice breakfast for two in the dining room

“I know you don’t like to go out Tae, so I thought we could stay in for the day.”

Spoils you with acts of service 

As soon as you wake up you’re greeted with the smell of a nice breakfast in the dining room 

Then you sit in bed as he feeds you chocolate cover strawberries, watching silly movies and drawing pictures for each other 

At the end of the day he prepares a bath for the both of you

Nanami Kento x Reader

Warning: Some spoilers of the Culling Games if my readers haven’t read/spoiled much of the manga.

You watched as Gojo unleashed his domain expansion with hundreds of civilians in close proximity. Your hand was over your mouth as you gasped. Within a blink of an eye, Gojo destroyed the transfigured humans around the civilians. The background blurred, you were in a tropical island. You noticed the three people in front of you: Maki, an older gentleman who you don’t recognize, and Nanami.

“Kento…” You looked around. Deep down, you know it wasn’t good. As beautiful as the surroundings were, your guard was up. Many large sea creatures with large and sharp teeth appeared, attacking all three of them. Tears formed in your eyes when Nanami was attacked.

“Kento!!”

Wake up. Wake up. Wake up!

You knew this scene well. You dreamt of it for the past couple of weeks. And every night, the scenes prolonged.

This time, you were in the subway. Your eyes widened at the stocky, one-eyed creature that appeared in front of Nanami. And before you know it, he was in flames.

You breathed heavily as you sat up. You were covered in sweat and tears. You covered your mouth, muffling the soft cries escaping your lips. You paid attention to the silence surrounding the bedroom. Your eyes widened.

“K-Kento…” You turned. His side of the bed was empty. You immediately stood up and ran out of the room. The apartment was empty with lights dimming the kitchen for him to see when he arrived home. You checked the time shown on the oven.

10:26PM.

You quickly walked back to your room and grabbed your phone. You immediately called him, disregarding any texts or calls you might’ve gotten. It only took a couple of rings for him to pick up.

“Sweetheart.” The sound of his voice brought you so much relief. Your body shook and your tears fell. Nanami was alarmed when he heard your soft sobs. “My love, what’s wrong? I’ll come home right now. I just finished talking to Ieiri-san and Gojo-san.”

“I-I—“. You held your phone tightly in your hands. You knew what to say but had no energy to explain.

“Was it the nightmare?” The louder sobs escaping your lips was enough confirmation for him. You never hid anything from your husband. “I just got in the car. Do you want me to stay on?”

“Please.”

You were a wildcard. Ever since you two met, he could never figure out what you were. You were just a normal human. Zero cursed energy. Yet the dreams didn’t add up to it. He never sensed any cursed energy while you were asleep. You were a mystery. A mystery that only he, Gojo, Geto, and Shoko knew about. Because deep down, he knew that you were truly powerful. Dreams of the past, present, and future. He doesn’t know anyone else that holds that ability.

“H-How did your day go?” you asked when you finally calmed down. You sat on the couch, sitting quietly to yourself in the dim home.

“The mission was good. I was with Takumi-kun and he is improving well,” Nanami answered. “How was your day, my love? I missed you.”

“I miss you, too, Kento. I just had my meeting and lots of paperwork,” you answered. “I met with Hana. We had dinner and a few drinks together. I brought you home some pasta. It’s really good. I had an eggplant parm. I brought you home chicken Cajun alfredo with a side of garlic bread. A-Are you hungry? I’ll go heat it up for you so it’s ready.”

“I would love that. Thank you, love.”

“Kento. I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

There was destruction everywhere you went. So much blood. So many people dead. But there was only one person you had to find. One person to make sure that was okay. You watched Gojo become sealed. You let your tears fall more and more. The background changing to different scenes. You forced yourself to one scene. That was after you watched Nanami burn.

You were at a familiar area of Shibuya subway. You see the transfigured human attack. The sound of the familiar grunts of someone fighting.

“Kento!”

When you found him, you watched in horror yet relief. Half his body burnt. But he was still alive and fighting. The longer he fought, the aching pit in your stomach grew and grew. You don’t want to know why you were scared. Maybe because you already knew. Because in a blink of an eye, a man with long gray hair appeared in front of him. His finger pointing and touching Nanami’s chest. Nanami’s expression of exhaustion and defeat.

“Nanamin!”

You and Nanami turned around. A young boy with pink hair. You don’t recognize him. Maybe, just maybe, this can be avoided.

“Itadori-kun, you got it from here.”

“Kento!”

“Kento! No!” You thrashed in your sleep. Nanami held your arms as he shook you awake. He hated these dreams. They hurt you emotionally. He wished he could have them instead. That way, you never have to feel that pain.

“Sweetheart! Wake up!” he yelled. He called your name, but to no avail. All he could do was wait. It didn’t take very long. Maybe another minute until you finally opened your eyes. But he knew that it would feel like an eternity for you. An eternity of pain and misery in your nightmares.

You gasped loudly as if you had no air left in your lungs. Nanami backed away ever so slightly when your body shot up. He watched you observe your surroundings and when your eyes finally landed in him, you hugged him tightly. So tight that it almost hurt his body but he would never pull you away, especially in the state you’re in. So he gently lifted you up and placed you on his lap. You cried and cried and all he could do is let his heart break from the pain that you were experiencing instead of him.

“Please don’t leave me,” you said. “Please. Please don’t, Kento.”

“Sweetheart,” he said so softly. He hugged you tightly. The tight squeeze brought you back to the reality of the present. You two were here. He is alive. Holding you.

“You-You died,” you confessed. Your confession made him freeze. “You like, blew up. Your body transformed and blew up.”

“Sweetheart.”

“And this boy was just in distraught. And he was fighting the guy that killed you. And I just…I watched a girl around his age die too.” Nanami was silent. He remained patient, waiting for you to either continue to officially stop. You slightly pulled away from his embrace and looked at him. “Gojo was sealed in this gray box. G-Geto sealed him but it wasn’t Geto. A-And I was trying to find you. Half of your body was burned and you were fighting these transfigured humans. Then, this sinister person appeared out of nowhere. You didn’t even notice him, Kento! And the young boy with pink hair appeared. You told him that he got it from here and you exploded. And this Itadori pink haired guy was fighting this person until the young girl came. It was horrible, Kento.”

“Sweetheart, I’m going to call Gojo and I’m going to have him come over. This is serious, love.”

“I-I know. I just…I don’t want it to come true. And the thing is, it can come true.”

“Then, we’ll have to prepare ourselves, right?”

“I-I know Geto despises me but, we need to tell him too. If he dies, his body gets taken and used. And…I-I don’t want that to happen to him.” Nanami nodded. He softly kissed your forehead and embraced you tightly again.

“Okay, love.”

All Geto could do was laugh. He looked at you with disgust while Nanami and Gojo stood close by behind you.

“I am ashamed that I became close to you in the past,” Geto said.

“I can’t say the same myself,” you said. “But you should know that I’m telling you the truth.”

“How should I? What proof do you have that I’ll get killed and my body will be of use? Huh? And what? Everything that I worked for will be gone to waste?”

“Your two girls,” you said as you looked at the teenage girls behind him. “Ryomen Sukuna will kill them. Your girls tried to save you by making a deal with Sukuna. But he had to be an egoistical bastard that doesn’t like to be told what to do. When you’re killed, your body will be used by Kenjaku.”

“That means nothing to me.”

“Gojo was killed by Toji. Rika was shot in the head. Yuki spoke to you after Haibara’s death. That’s why you are who you are today.” You watched him falter ever so slightly. “I’m telling you this because I know you love the people around you, especially Nanako and Mimiko.” His eyes widened this time.

“H-How did—“

“I told you so, Geto-san. You may despise me. That’s fine. But you love them,” you said and turned around. You looked at Nanami with a small smile. “I have more information.”

“Wait.” The three of you turned to face Geto. “Let me in on it. I’ll be civil with you, monkey.” You felt Nanami’s grip on your hand tighten.

“That would be better. Your girls can come too.”

You explained it all. From when the dreams started when you and Nanami became an official couple, during the time he was a salary man, to now. Geto and the girls looked at you with worry.

“From everything I know with jujutsu and what Gojo and Kento told me about Sukuna and Kenjaku, it’s going to be bad. Not just Japan, but the whole world can be in danger.”

“When will this start?” Geto asked.

“Halloween, year 2018.” You reached into your purse and pulled out a sketchbook. You’ve only shown them to Nanami. So when you showed them to Gojo and Geto, they were in shock. “Mahito, Hanami, Jogo, and Dagon. This boy, Itadori Yuji, will become Sukuna’s vessel. So we need to collect those fingers immediately.”

“Tell me about these four,” Geto said.

“They talk and work together,” you simply said with a small shrug. “And crazy strong.”

“Special grades,” Gojo and Geto said.

“Gojo killed Hanami. Sukuna killed Jogo. Mahito killed Kento. Yuji defeated Mahito but Kenjaku absorbed him. Then modern sorcerers came about from Kenjaku. It’s—it’s a lot. So many people were killed. Both civilians and sorcerers. Kenjaku was killed and Gojo…” Tears filled your eyes again. “Sukuna managed to kill him. There’s so much that…that…” It was exhausting. You wrote down everything and tried to organize all of the information together. You were exhausted. Forcing yourself to sleep and go through everything that will occur.

“Geto-sama, this is a lot,” Nanako said.

“It is.”

“This human is trying to save us, too,” Mimiko added.

“It’s hard to believe that this can happen,” Geto said. His eyes met your determined yet fearful eyes. “I walked away for a reason. I’m supposed to be executed.” He then looked at Gojo.

“Those olde geezers don’t know what they’re talking about,” Gojo said. “We can’t let them know.”

“I know.”

“You could’ve said something about me,” you said. “Why haven’t you?” Geto was silent.

“You’re Nanami’s girl,” he said. “Monkey or sorcerer, I’m not that inhumane. We have to go. However…” Geto bashfully rubbed the back of his head. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” The three of you watched them leave. Nanami pulled you close to him. “Kento, I’m really tired.” Nanami gave you a soft smile.

“Let’s go,” he said then looked at Gojo. “Can you take over my shift?”

“Of course! Gives me an excuse to buy some goodies in Tokyo!”

You opened your eyes from the sunlight shining through the window. You were more tired than usual. You wondered if you were actually dreaming or not. You looked at the calendar that Nanami likes to keep by his night table.

“April 2020,” you said to yourself and flipped through the calendar. You stopped at September, a pink drawn circle on the blue inked 12th. Your hand automatically touched your stomach. You looked down and stared at the bump. The bedroom suddenly opened. Nanami looked at you with the softest smile that you couldn’t help but smile back, the sleepiness washing away. “Kento!”

“Good morning my love,” he said kissed you softly on the lips. You cupped his face. Your eyes wandered at his face and body. No burnt injuries. No injured eye. No death. He is here. “I have breakfast ready. Geto-san is having his girls get the place ready for the party.”

“P-Party?” Nanami chuckled.

“Silly girl. Is this what they call pregnancy brain? Your gender reveal. You gave the results to the girls. Gojo-san is getting the food. Geto-san is helping with decorations. Itadori-kun, Fushiguro-kun, and Kugisaki-san are getting the cake. Everyone else will arrive too.”

“It’s supposed to be a surprise party instead of a small one and I dreamt of this, huh?”

“Yes because you wanted a small party but the girls couldn’t help but throw you a huge party.” You smiled widely. “So act super surprised.”

“W-What happened on Halloween 2018?”

“We took Gojo’s team out for trick or treating,” Nanami answered.

“No mission?”

“Did you have a nightmare?” You shook your head and smiled.

“Kento, I love you.”

Nanami looked at you in your peaceful slumber. A smile formed on your face. It was the first time you ever smiled in your sleep. He chuckled and gently caressed your head. He leaned in and kissed your forehead softly.

“Sweet dreams, my love.”

Crowley Info Compilation part 17: Vil and Secrets

Crowley may have a vested interest in Pomefiore/the Fairest Queen over the others and, possibly, in Vil: when the seven statues are toppled during Halloween Crowley speaks of the flagrant disrespect overall at first, but the only one he comments on specifically is the fairest queen, saying, "The Fairest Queen's statue, lying prone like some common pauper?!"

Crowley has said that he loves "sparkly things like gems and precious metals!" and Vil will sometimes fill the area he is in with sparkles.

This may be related to why Crowley is stunned speechless upon seeing Vil at the start of Halloween (Vil: "As you should be").

Crowley is delighted by his own decision to put Vil in charge of production for the VDC after seeing the team rehearse.

Vil says, "But of course. What do you take me for?" and Crowley responds, "What I've always taken you for: a leading global talent--no, correction--the houswarden of Pomefiore, our campus' most historic and beautiful dorm."

Vil may be less inclined towards Crowley than Crowley is towards him: when Crowley tries to retire Malleus into the hall of fame in Book 2, Vil says the decision "reeks of some kind of unconscious bias," which he despises.

(Crowley might be fond of Spelldrive in general: he has a voice line about staying up late to watch it on TV.)

Crowley reacts dramatically in Book 2 when discussing Riddle's overblot, randomly yelling aloud and surprising Grim.

In an interview from the fanbook Twst composure Ozawa Takumi comments that Crowley is her favorite character and she loves his "play-acting," and I have never been able to get over it.

There is very clearly much going on with Crowley that we do not know, and the question of how much is "play-acting" and how much (if anything) is not is fascinating.

During Halloween, for example, Jade says, "Is there some reason (Crowley) wouldn't want the police sniffing around? A secret he doesn't want them to unearth, perhaps?"

And Crowley's secrets come up again in Book 4: when Azul is pretending to be hypnotized, Jamil asks him if he happens to know Crowley's secrets. Azul says that he does: he knows one thing that Crowley would never want others to learn.

Azul was not truly hypnotized at the time and may have been just making things up, but it is interesting that Jamil, at least, seems wholly convinced that Crowley is hiding something dire.

I'm filled with 3DS Brainworms so here's who I think all the Awakening kids would be retainers to if they were in Fates

Lucina/Marth- Xander? Maybe Ryoma if we're doing both countries. I have a hard time seeing her able to relax enough to not be next to the most important people if she had the chance. She'd be Corrin's retainer if that was an option. I kinda like Ryoma more than Xander cuz I'm picturing Saizo saying he doesn't trust 'Marth' because of his mask, without any sense of irony. Also Sakura just because I've seen adorable art of that rarepair and I'm on board.

M!Morgan- Leo, I think Leo and the Morgan's would have a nice dynamic where their presence is both comforting but also elevate Leo's insecurities since the Morgan's are skilled tacticians and his skills aren't as unique.

F!Morgan- Leo/Xander. Maybe Leo's official retainer but bothers Xander. I picture like once a week she has a presentation on the health benefits of killing your father or how to depose a tyrant. Never explicitly saying Xander should commit regicide but one can infer her meaning. Definitely way less subtle than her twin clone. Probably taking the most advantage of the "you fire one of us the others quit" vibe the Awakening kids have. Banned from visiting Corrin in the Northern Fortress.

Cynthia- Camilla, Camilla claimed her before they even proved their worth as fighters. Camilla would adore her and her dynamic with Beruka would be hilarious. She's also friends with Arthur, they need constant supervision together in case something goes horribly wrong.

Brady- Leo, I need him complaining about Leo sleeping at his desk and studying to exhaustion. Do ya wanna a hunchback like him?

Noire- Leo/Camilla. She's incredibly knowledgeable about magic despite being too frail to use it herself, pokes over Leo's shoulder and points out a mistake while bringing him a new cup of tea. Drives Leo up the walls. But also not all that confident and frail, Camilla just snaps her right up. The kind of person that Camilla likes most, one's that are dependent on her in some way.

Kjelle- (isn't she already one of Elise's retainers??) Honestly I know Effies personality is different in the Japanese version but since I'm not familiar with that I can only picture Kjelle's interactions being extremely similar to hers. Either Elise or Sakura, give Elise the beginning of a muscular knight Lady army/harem or I think Kjelle would fit in with Hana and Subaki's dynamic and she'd get a laugh out of knocking Subaki off his fly horse.

Laurent- Leo or Takumi, nerds herd together. I think he'd have a better chance of getting a spot with Takumi than most of the others simply because there isn't anything Takumi can hold against him, he's polite, invested in learning as much as he can(which means he'll likely come asking Takumi a lot and deferring to his expertise, playing into the vibe of Takumi's retainers being his fan club with a different reason than Hinata and Oboro, he looks up to Takumi's intelligence) and his outfit doesn't share any similarities to Nohr's fashion, his tits aren't out and he's not wearing black and purple(why I think the Morgan's wouldn't be able to get close to Takumi)

Gerome- Camilla, while he's the exact opposite of Camilla's main swinging range, he's solitary and doesn't react to praise like Severa, he does follow orders and can be a second pair of eyes to baby someone. Most likely on Elise duty any time she goes into the sewer city. Also he and Beruka nod at each other and go do their jobs. Best coworker Beruka's ever had. She leaves to go kill someone for Camilla and has a packed lunch for the way back. Minerva likes Beruka too.

Yarne- Xander or Hinoka, depending on which part of Yarne's cowardlyness you want to play with. Xander trusts Yarne both because despite all his anxiety he's never really the "unfeasible" type of anxiety and he breaks through his cowardlyness to protect those he cares about. A single "What do you think could go wrong" gets Xander a long way. Meanwhile Hinoka's retainers all have the vibe of her feeling the need to protect them instead and Yarne is PEAK failboy. Also play into Hinoka's more gentle and animal loving side with her brushing his rabbit form. Also Yarne/Camilla ship, she knows what she likes and it's a failure she can coddle and Yarne quickly learns that her arms are both the safest and most dangerous place he could possibly be.

Nah- Camilla/Leo/Corrin/Azura. No strong feelings on any of these, I think her dynamic with Camilla would be similar to Severa's where she's a little desperate for approval but to a lesser extent. I think she'd Like Leo but more of a book club/study buddy thing than serving him. I can see her sticking with Corrin in the Northern Fortress for both Dragon and Lilith reasons and I think she'd be a good Lilith-equivalent and friend for Azura, Naga knows she needs someone to talk to about the crazy stuff she knows that she can't tell anyone about.
