if you ever make soup from scratch and you sit down and have a fresh bowl and you think to yourself "this is good and flavourful but it's just missing a liiittle something" that's the devil talking to you. let the flavours marinate overnight and taste it again the next day, it'll be great. if it's still missing something then try adding a little salt to your bowl. but do NOT mess with a finished soup.
signed, someone who ruined their perfectly good soup with too much salt and garlic powder after it was already done and may have cried a little bit about it this morning
#every cubic centimeter of this soup has become infused so heavily with garlic powder#that even a small mouthful feels like it completely coats my mouth and i can taste literally nothing else#THE SOUP IS FINE JUST LEAVE IT. ALONE.#i barely even shook any in & it transformed from a good creamy mushroom soup into a biohazard that shrivels your tongue on contact#i'm so devastated about this soup i've already messaged multiple ppl about it and asked for advice and i'm STILL not over it#jan 2024#i have a plan to try to save it but i've already accepted it will not return to its former glory#but maybe i can at least turn it into something i can tolerate eating for the next week#food

I could't contain myself guys sorry--
Bro, do you realize how scary it would be to have Vox as a Yandere?
just imagine it. You could be one of his workers, maybe too good at your job, because not only do you do what Vox tells you without asking questions, but you also know what to say and what not to say to avoid a "tantrum" from him. or rather, when his insecurities attack with force like when Alastor returns.
Vox would probably be a somewhat condescending yandere (as seen with Val) but don't think you can't turn tables easily, if you stroke his ego enough, you can have him around your finger. but that doesn't make it any less dangerous for those around you.
He makes the typical 180 degree turn in attitude when it comes to Other Employees and when it comes to You. Damn, you may be the only one of his employees who gets paid vacations (or even vacations) or even birthday bonuses, things like that. He likes to give you his things or products with the excuse that "they are for testing" even if they have already been released on the market.
Like:
Vox: who the fuck eat My leftovers!?! WHENEVER WHO WAS I'M GOING TO-
Darling: it was me sir.
Vox:--give You the rest and take You out for lunch, You haven't eaten in the whole day AGAIN, didn't ya?
He definitely avoids conflict with you by hypnotizing you, when he starts to feel hostility, fear on your part or that you want to leave, he makes you "out of nowhere" have "ONE MORE TASK" and you can't help but do what he says.
and IT IS NOT just to avoid fights or for you to leave, it is something CONSTANT (once every two days MINIMUM), although Vox is not worried about your brain turning into mush due to its powers, it always keeps nutritious things in your diet and they come out relatively often , as you have to follow him everywhere.
Eventually he becomes more clingy and needy in this case, it's practically not that he's proposing to you or anything, he's just slowly dragging you into a relationship without you realizing it (because you're not lucid enough). Unless you develop a higher level of tolerance to his hypotonic trick, I don't think you'll notice his Red Flags.
I think it would be ESPECIALLY BAD if Darling is also a Sinner, because then they wouldn't even be able to get out of the pride ring to run away from Vox. leaving you with many fewer options and having to avoid all of Vox's technology, which you could only achieve by 1- going to the Cannibal Legion or 2- going to the Hazbin Hotel.
Running away is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT, not only because of his hypnotic trick, but because he literally has EYES EVERYWHERE, on every screen in hell. If you somehow manage to get away with it and run away, Vox would be SO ANGRY and looking for you all over hell with their screens.
Although definitely if you were gone more than a day, he would be more distraught than angry and would begin to despair. Even Val and Velvet would give him a hand because of how bad it would be.
Just imagine, thinking that you finally lost sight of Vox's search drones, without realizing that you stand in front of some store and VOX ITSELF appears on the screens :)
If you made the stupid decision to go to the Hazbin Hotel, Vox would be distraught and would even think that Alastor was somehow holding you hostage, obviously! Why would you go there if you knew his biggest enemy was there? Alastor must be using you as a bargaining chip! How dare he!?
(in this case, fortunately, the punishment is much less severe, but he would definitely monitor you for the rest of your life)
When he eventually gets you back (after a few days or even WEEKS of anguish) expect, first of all, to be in a mortal embrace that lasts AT LEAST 2 days and then receive your "punishment" which would be to be under hypnosis for AT LEAST 1 YEAR to be sure that this NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN.
Although calm down! He gives your mind breaks periodically because 1- he doesn't know if that would ultimate mess with your head and 2- it's nice to hear YOU talk instead of the robotic version.
When that year FINALLY ends, you will be a much more obedient, more terrified, sweeter version of You, according to Vox, like a frightened Deer. It was a long and hard process, but the good thing is that you don't have to do anything anymore! absolutely! Just do what he tells you and everything will be fine.
Shares, reblogs and comments are very welcome!

“I don’t know what to be for Halloween.”
“Well, right now what you’re wearing is pretty scary.”
Lee Chan had never met anyone he couldn’t knock down a peg—not that he ever had to try. Everyone adored him, from classmates to coworkers, even Seungkwan, who followed his playful jabs with free lunches instead of a comeback. He was easygoing, always getting along with everyone. That is until you infiltrated his friend group. You weren’t like the others, and for the first time, Chan wasn’t sure if his effortless charm would be enough to dissolve your natural snark.
Chan shot you an unamused smile, his eyes narrowing as you answered his question. The two costumes he held drooped at his sides, a patient frustration written all over his features. “What are you even doing here if you won’t help me?”
You lifted your half-filled glass, the chill of the drink seeping through your fingers. “The free drinks, of course.”
“Of course,” he echoed dryly, his tone laced with sarcasm. “Well, maybe leave the opinions to those who actually care, like Soonyoung here?”
Soonyoung beamed up at Chan, his excitement bubbling over as he playfully tugged at his friend’s hand like an overly enthusiastic toddler. “Aww, always here for you, buddy!”
You couldn’t resist a jab. “Well, if you did something interesting for once in your life, maybe I wouldn’t have to entertain myself.”
Chan groaned, his shoulders slumping in defeat. “Never mind. I’m just going to pick something else. Make yourself useful and try to stay quiet, okay?”
You scoffed, getting up from the sofa seat. “Whatever. I’m gonna find something to eat.”
Chan tried his best to stay positive around you, but it was difficult when every social encounter turned into a game of mental chess. But instead of being an actual opponent, you acted like the master, playing with his temperament as if he were merely a pawn. It was exhausting—trying to keep things cordial while knowing you were always pushing his buttons, testing tolerance, and working against him as if your sarcastic replies and eyerolls carried a vindictive purpose.
Chan collapsed onto his bed the moment you left the room, feeling completely defeated. Now, it was just him and Soonyoung left to figure out what he should wear for Halloween, mere days away from now.
“Why is she always like that?” he muttered, focused on the wrong thing,
Soonyoung shrugged, scooting beside you with his legs crossed on the bed. “I’m sure she means well; she just has…her own way of showing it.”
Chan sat up, looking at him in disbelief. “She’s hated me since the moment we met at the New Year’s party, and I still don’t get why.”
“That’s not true.” Soonyoung reassured, gently patting his friend on the head. “Maybe your personalities just clash a bit. She gets along with everyone else in the building.”
“Yeah, but why?” Chan sighed. “What did I even do?”
Soonyoung gave him a reassuring pat. “Chan, it’s not your fault. I’m sure she’ll come around eventually.”
The more people like Soonyoung, or Seokmin, or Jeonghan reassured him that you’d come around, the less Chan believed it. It seemed like there would be nothing that could change your mind about him. Yet he couldn’t just accept that you disliked him for no reason. There had to be something behind the mean exterior, the jabs directed at either his character or even looks. Like he’s some kind of pushover. He would spend entire days wracking his brain, trying to understand why, and nothing would make sense.
What made it worse was how much it bothered him—maybe because you saw each other almost daily, living in the same neighborhood. You’d grown close to everyone else like you were a permanent fixture here, but when it came to him, it felt like you went out of your way to get under his skin. Your cold glances, your sharp remarks, all seemed to gnaw at him, twisting him up inside like a steel knife in an already gashing wound (okay, maybe he was being dramatic). He just couldn’t stand it.
If he could, he’d look right into your mind, figure out what you were thinking, make sense of your actions, and—just maybe—finally understand why you behave the way you do.
But he didn’t have time to dwell on it; there was a Halloween party to plan. Every year, the local gaming café downstairs—where he’d ironically ended up working at—hosted a Halloween bash with exclusive promotions. And every year, it was followed by a more exclusive all-out rager at his apartment, which he shared with a bunch of his friends above the cafe. It was something nearly everyone on the block looked forward to each year, and this time, Chan was in charge of the activities. The activities coordinator, Seungcheol had proclaimed.
That’s why Chan has been asking for all kinds of opinions lately, even yours. Being the natural people-pleaser he is, he felt as if he’d been running around everywhere to get everyone’s stamp of approval. He would go up and down, left and right, and even hold surveys at the cash register for strangers' opinions. He had a habit of making things perfect, and he wasn’t going to let your cynicism ruin it for him.
“Come on, help me figure out what to wear, bro. My night depends on it.”
Soonyoung had been helpful—thank goodness for that—and now that was one less problem to worry about, Chan felt a bit of relief. If he could just get through his shift at the cafe without losing his mind and manage to sneak in some few minutes of party planning, he would have a good day.
“You figure out what costume makes you look less of a loser, yet? Trick question, it really doesn’t matter what you pick. You’ll still look like a loser.”
Chan tilted his head, unfazed by your rude comments as he poured his tenth cup of ramen for the night—three of them for the same customer. “Why do you care? Don’t you have some puppies to kick?”
Your smile remained unfaltering, conniving as ever. “I cleared my schedule to help Seokmin and Soonyoung rank up. Wonwoo is playing with them this round. Just here to grab some Kickstart.”
“Ah, so another puppy is safe for a day from the wicked Witch of the West. Congratulations on your fleeting moment of decency.” He turned, striding over to the customers waiting for their ramen, while you annoyingly trailed closely behind. You grabbed your favorite blackberry Kickstart from the fridge, the bright can a stark contrast to the dim lighting of the café, and tossed a couple of crumpled bills in the direction of the cash register as if you’d done it before.
“You’re helping plan the Halloween party, right? Seungcheol mentioned it when I asked what I should bring,” you said, your tone almost too casual, as if you were friends.
Chan scoffed, carefully setting the steaming bowls of ramen down in front of the waiting customers before heading back to his station. “You, being courteous? That’s new. What do you want?”
With a sly smile, you leaned against the counter, arms crossed. “I just wanted to let you know that if you really want to make the party fun, you can ask me. My ideas will probably be better than whatever you come up with.” The confidence in your voice made it clear you expected him to take you seriously, but how could he when every little word you managed to muster was belittling?
Chan grit his teeth, frustration simmering just beneath the surface. He unscrewed the cap of a water bottle from the fridge and downed it in one swift gulp, the cool liquid barely offering any relief from his irritation. As he crushed the empty bottle in his hands, he aimed for the trash can but missed, the bottle clattering to the floor with a dull thud. Sounding exasperated, he bent down to pick it up, tossing it into the can with a bit more force than necessary.
Straightening up, he shot you a sharp glare. “I can handle it myself, thanks,” he muttered, his voice tight with annoyance.
“Really? Because I’m offering my help here,” you replied, your tone dripping with an offensive amount of condescending sincerity. “I’m being generous with my time and giving you the chance to create something…well, palatable from this party.” You exaggeratedly pretended to choose your words carefully, a teasing smile playing on your lips, poking at his alleged incompetence.
“You want to help?” Chan challenged, his tone cutting. “How about just enjoying the party instead of making it all about yourself? Some of us actually have work to do.”
He fixed you with a glare that held the slightest hint of malice before finally turning away and returning to his tasks.
“Defensive much?” you shot back, a glimpse of interest on your face as you raised an eyebrow.
“No,” he replied, his voice firm. “Just self-respecting.”
“Fine,” you said, turning back to your friends as you walked away. “Just don’t come begging for my help when your party goes to shit.”
Chan found himself screaming into his pillows that night, the fabric muffling his frustrated cries as he banged his head against them in sheer exasperation.
“What the heck is her deal?” he murmured to himself, his voice muffled and thick with irritation. He buried his face deeper into the pillows, desperate to escape the relentless thoughts fogging in his mind. The familiar scent of cotton and fabric softener offered very little comfort as he replayed the interaction over and over, making him as puzzled as ever.
He hadn’t experienced bullying like this since high school, a time when everyone was preoccupied with either being popular or getting into the best colleges. He was neither; instead, he was a secret third option: just trying to survive.
“Always making fun of me. Always belittling me. Always making me feel like crap.” He pulled the covers over his eyes, seeking refuge from his loud thoughts. “Why can’t she just tell me what I did to make her hate me? I’m not a mind reader.”
Unable to sleep, Chan gazed up at the night sky through his bedroom window, seeing it enveloped in the vast pitch-blackness pressing down like a weight. He took a steadying breath, hoping to clear his mind. Not a single star graced him with its presence—only the lone moon, barely there but still noticeable—how relatable—hanging in the sky like a quiet witness to his restless thoughts.
“I’m going insane here, so if there’s a god out there, could he—or she—make my life easier for the next few days? Just a little?” he murmured, voice barely above a whisper. “I’m not asking for superpowers like telepathy or anything. Just…let me pull off a party that everyone actually enjoys. Even her. Maybe then she won’t be so…her all the time.”
It was wishful thinking, but worth a shot, and if Chan was known for anything, it was taking chances—no matter how slim the odds.
Chan was somehow able to sleep that night finally, hair straying all over his face, until he sat up at the realization of a lack of a blaring alarm, “Oh, shit.”
His phone battery had died, and his charger defective and rendered useless. He scrambled to Seungcheol’s room next door, avoiding the obstacles of his shirts strewn across the floor, and plugged the bead phone to his housemate’s charger, impatiently tapping until the phone lit up to greet him.
9:48. Just about 18 minutes before his morning shift starts and almost no time to get ready. “Shit, shit.”
‘What’s that noise?’
Chan glanced over at Seungcheol, who was sprawled out across his bed, a half-conscious casualty of the previous night’s escapades. It seemed he’d had company, judging by the tangled mess of clothes scattered on the floor, and apparently, they'd had more than just a “decent” time.
“Sorry, Cheol. Gotta borrow your charger. I’ll bring it back later.”
Seungcheol’s response was a muffled groan, his arm barely twitching in acknowledgment. Within the incoherent noise, Chan could just make out the unspoken message: ‘Just go away.’
“Got it, see you at work, buddy,” Chan muttered, plugging in his phone with a quick tap to check the time before heading for the door.
Another groan drifted from the bed, thick with irritation. ‘So loud.’
Chan got himself ready in a hurry, forgoing a shower and compensating with an extra-long brush of his teeth and a thick layer of deodorant. Fresh breath and a quick spritz of cologne would have to do for today. The cafe would be filled with people who wouldn’t care anyway.
He rushed downstairs to clock in, throwing on an apron over his lackluster clothes and prepping the makeshift kitchen in the back.
‘Ugh, my back is killing me.’
Chan turned at the faint sound of a familiar voice, spotting Minghao slouched in one of the worn chairs in the employees-only room, head leaned back, eyes half-closed in what looked like exhaustion.
“Hey, Hao. You okay?”
Minghao glanced up, his face breaking into a grin that seemed a bit forced, but reassuring nonetheless. “Morning, Chan. Yeah, I’m good. What’s up?”
“Just checking in—I thought I heard you say something about your back?”
Minghao’s grin faded into a puzzled expression, brow furrowing as if he were rewinding through his own memory. “Hmm? I didn’t say anything. But… Now that you mention it, my back has been sore lately. All the competitions piling up, you know? Guess martial arts are starting to weigh down on this old, elderly body of mine.” He chuckled at his own self-deprecating joke.
Chan gave a sympathetic nod. “Well, if you need a break, just take one, alright? I’m sure Seungcheol or Jeonghan wouldn’t mind.”
Minghao’s smile softened. “Thanks, little buddy. I’ll keep that in mind.”
Chan smiled back. “Anytime.”
As Chan turned to leave, he heard a voice, faint but unmistakable, despite the owner of the voice being in the same room: ‘Chan’s a good kid.’
He paused mid-step, his eyes widening as he processed the thought, lingering in the air like a distant echo. He looked back at Minghao, eyebrows knit in confusion. “Did…did you just say something?”
Minghao chuckled, giving him a casual wave as if everything were normal. “No? I’ll be out in a sec. How about you go warm up the coffee pot for me, hmm?”
“Got it…” Chan said, hesitating as he walked out, still glancing over his shoulder, his mind racing with questions. Had he really heard that voice? Or was exhaustion playing tricks on him?
He flipped the cash register on, the familiar hum filling the quiet of the early morning. Chan meticulously counted the bills, making sure he had the right amount of change and neatly stacked cash, each dollar lined up perfectly. Once satisfied, he moved to the glass door, flicking the open sign to life with a soft click. The neon light flickered, casting a bright and loud, welcoming invitation to anyone passing by. Chan took a deep breath, feeling the calm before the inevitable rush.
‘I hope they have the good ramen and not that crappy store brand shit. You can totally tell the difference.’
The voice drifted into Chan’s mind, oddly clear and distinct as if someone were speaking right beside him—except no one was there. The words had a casual, almost lazy tone, echoing in his head like the distant buzz of a radio left on in another room. His gaze darted around the empty shop, his pulse quickening as he scanned the quiet space, lit only by the harsh glow of the neon open sign.
He shook his head, trying to dismiss it, but the words still lingered, as if they were waiting for him to acknowledge them. This voice, like Minghao’s earlier, felt close yet completely detached, belonging to someone…elsewhere.
The chimes on the door jingled, pulling Chan from his thoughts as he glanced up to see a familiar figure. Finally, he could match the voice he’d been hearing to a face.
“Hey, Chan. The usual, please,” Beomgyu greeted, his tone dry, with the same dark circles under his eyes from late-night gaming marathons.
‘Is it me, or does he look shittier than usual?’ The words echoed in Chan’s mind, clear as if spoken aloud, though Beomgyu’s lips never moved. Chan froze, the unexpected comment hitting him square in the chest—both offending and unnerving him.
“Excuse me?” Chan retorted, defensively narrowing his eyes.
Beomgyu blinked, looking slightly taken aback. “Uh… the usual? Kimchi ramen with cheese and a Cherry slush?”
‘Man, hasn’t he worked here for, like, a year? Doesn’t he have this down by now?’
“What? Of course, I do!” Chan shot back, his voice sharp with irritation.
Beomgyu raised an eyebrow, now clearly baffled. “Dude, what are you talking about? Just give me my stuff.”
Chan swallowed, feeling a strange tension creeping over him. He forced himself to look down, suddenly unsure whether he was hearing Beomgyu–or actually going insane.
“Right. Sorry. It'll be out in a second,” Chan mumbled, suddenly sheepish as he accepted the cash, his usual confidence thrown off-kilter.
Beomgyu gave him a lingering, puzzled look before shrugging it off and drifting over to his usual seat in the corner. As he walked away, Chan felt an odd prickling sensation in the back of his mind—the familiar voice filtering through, more unsettling this time.
‘Has he gone psycho or something?’
Chan’s heart skipped, his eyes widening slightly as he processed the words that had somehow entered his mind, clear as day, despite Beomgyu’s silent, closed lips. His fingers clenched the counter as he steadied himself, wondering if he was finally cracking under the stress or if something far stranger was at play.
‘Another day, another W!’
Another voice then grew louder, closer, and was growing more anxious, sweat beading down his forehead out of bewilderment. What in the fuck was happening?
Seokmin emerged from the doors, seeing Chan with a bright smile as he leaned up against the counter. “Hi Chan, a couple of sprites and two orders of rose spicy rice cakes please.”
‘I’ma burn through iron into silver today. I just know it!’
Chan’s hands hovered over the register, a sense of déjà vu creeping over him as he felt the words echo in his mind. His fingers shook slightly as he pressed the buttons. “Y-you trying to rank up in Overwatch again today?” he asked, his voice a little unsteady.
Seokmin laughed, nodding enthusiastically. “Yeah! Wonwoo and Jeonghan are coming by to play on their day off.”
‘Ooh, I should check if they have that series in stock again. I missed it last time.’
“What series were you looking for again?” Chan asked, trying to keep his tone casual as he glanced up from the register.
Seokmin blinked, a little startled, clearly wondering how Chan had guessed. “Oh yeah, I was gonna ask about it. What was it called again?” ‘Kindergarden wars–’
“Kindergarten Wars, right? The Kindergarten Cop of Manga? That one?” Chan asked, his voice coming out a bit too smooth for his own comfort.
Seokmin’s eyes widened in surprise, a laugh escaping him. “Whoa, I just barely remembered the title! You’re on a roll, buddy. But yeah, that’s the one! Do you have it in stock?”
“Yeah, we should have a few copies in. I’ll grab one for you when your order’s ready,” Chan replied, managing a grin, though stark comparison to the panic festering in his body.
"Aw, you’re the best, Chan. Thanks!” Seokmin flashed a wide grin as he swiped his card, practically bouncing toward his usual corner. He arranged a couple of chairs, setting up a cozy little space for his friends, buzzing around like a busy bee as he prepped the area, clearly itching to dive into his day.
Meanwhile, Chan’s nerves were going through it. He kept glancing at the entrance, anxiety creeping up his spine as he wondered if the next person through the door would, once again, broadcast their every thought straight into his head. Just thinking about it made him want to puke, the effects of the bizarre events not dissipating in the slightest.
The rest of Chan’s day became a relentless cascade of intrusive thoughts, each one amplifying the disquiet simmering inside him. Every new customer brought a fresh wave of private musings, some harmless, others startlingly personal, or worse yet, straight creepy. The sheer volume of it all began to blur together into an overwhelming hum.
‘Fuck not again.’
‘Hell yeah, a new skin!’
‘He’s so annoying I wish he would just die already.’
‘I swear, they said ‘one more game’ like an hour ago.’
‘They’re all trash. Worthless. I’m surrounded by idiots who can’t play for shit.’
‘They won’t last. She’ll cheat on him, or he’ll leave her. It’s inevitable.’
The familiar buzz of the cafe felt unusually oppressive, almost suffocating, as Chan struggled to tune out the voices around him. He found himself straining to differentiate between what was actually spoken and what slipped uninvited into his mind, the line between reality and thought as thin as it was maddening.
"Hey, Hao, I’m gonna take five."
Chan didn’t wait for a reply. He bolted out of the business and up the narrow staircase to his residence, his pulse hammering in his ears. The familiar murmur of echoing voices trailed him, each step feeling heavier than the last, the whispers chasing him even as he tried to leave them behind. It wasn't until he closed the door with a soft but resolute click that they faded, now hushed but still there. Haunting him.
“What the hell is happening to me?” he whispered, his voice barely audible over the echo of voices still faintly buzzing in his mind. His hands tightened in his hair, fingers digging in as if grounding himself might silence the flood.
He shut his eyes, breathing in uneven breaths as he clamped his hands over his ears and somehow soothing the thoughts determined to run rampant. But every time he let his guard down, snippets of thought would slip through—fragmented phrases, stray judgments, random anxieties—taking up headspace like ghosts he couldn’t shake.
‘Why does he get everything? It should be me.’
‘The world would be better off without most of them, if not all.’
‘Where the hell is my ramen?’
‘I hope I didn’t get stood up. I sent her Uber money.’
Nothing about this made sense. It was impossible—just yesterday, his life had been normal, and now he was hearing voices that sounded exactly like his friends’ private thoughts, whether he wanted to or not. This wasn’t some supernatural CW drama, no Halloween special with a secret message all along for the protagonist. This was real life, and if he didn’t know any better, he’d swear he was somehow…reading minds.
The thought sparked a fresh jolt of panic, twisting his insides into knots. It was a fear he hadn’t known lurked within him, clawing its way to the surface and leaving his stomach churning. Squeezing his eyes shut, he tried to force it away, to dismiss it as some ridiculous, passing delusion. But the voices only grew louder, like an insistent, rising tide that wouldn’t let him brush this off as a mere joke or a temporary glitch in the simulation. No, they clung to him, refusing to fade—unyielding, pressing against his mind as if daring him to question his own sanity.
Then there was a knock. Soft at first, followed by the hesitant creak of the door easing open. Chan barely registered it, too consumed by the relentless flood of thoughts racing through his head, repeating to himself, “You’re not real, you’re not real…”
“Chan?”
His eyes flew open, finally taking in the figure silhouetted in the doorway—you. Your expression was a blend of concern and hesitation as you stepped cautiously into his room. A pang of surprise coursed through him, igniting a spark of defensiveness that flared to life within him, seeing you making the weight on his head worse. He forced himself to hold your gaze, feeling exposed under the weight of your possible scrutiny. “W-what do you want?” he stammered, the words escaping him in apprehension.
You raised an eyebrow, though your usual edge seemed softened. “Minghao asked me to come get you. He’s worried. Looks like he was right—finally lost your mind, or something?”
“You’d like that, wouldn’t you?” he hissed, barely keeping his voice steady.
You raised an eyebrow. “Chan—”
“Save it.” He cut you off, his tone sharp, eyes narrowing as he took a half-step back, almost as if he expected you to throw something back his way. Just as you always have. “I’m not gonna take whatever crap you’re planning, so if that’s your game, just forget it.”
You blinked, caught off guard, a flash of irritation tightening your expression. “Wow,” you muttered, crossing your arms with a look that was half offense, half amusement. “Who the hell pissed in your cereal?”
“I’m not feeling well, alright? And you don’t make it any easier. If you think I’m going to keep letting you walk all over me, forget it. Go pick on someone else.”
“Wow, look at you finally picking up your backbone from the floor,” you taunted, slowly closing the distance between you. Your voice dripped with mockery as you studied him, taking in the tense lines of his posture and the way his jaw clenched in irritation. “If this is about the party, the offer still stands. I know what I said, but—”
“But nothing. I didn’t need your help then, and I don’t need it now. Just piss off.” His voice cut through the air, sharp and defensive, as if he was trying to shield himself from your probing.
“Ooh, look at you using big words,” you snickered tilting your head as you leaned in slightly, your eyes narrowing in challenge. “Is all the stress of pleasing everyone finally catching up to you? Or are you just realizing you’re not capable of doing something that requires responsibility?”
Chan stepped closer, piercing through you with a sharp glare as your smile broadened, infused with a stubborn determination that only irritated him further. No matter what he said, you remained resolute, and he could sense his resolve beginning to crack under the weight of your taunts, struggling to maintain his composure.
“Or,” he began, feeling the voice in his head finally recede as a surge of courage washed over him. “I have so much of my own shit going on. Ever thought about that? Now, why don't you turn around and mind your goddamn business before I should teach you how to shut up while I’m at it.” The dominance in his tone surprised even him, and for the first time, he felt like he was finally in control of himself and his newfound ability.
You hesitated, caught off guard by the intensity in his eyes, the way it deepened the timbre of his voice, radiating uncontainable energy you’d never seen from Chan before. The confidence that once danced in your gaze faltered, giving way to a glint of surprise as you struggled to hold onto your composure. Your lips parted slightly, words caught in your throat as you processed his unexpected boldness—and the effect it was having on you.
‘Holy shit.’
Your voice echoed in his mind, sending a thrill through him as his lips stretched from ear to ear menacingly. Finally—finally—he was the one with the upper hand.
“What? Nothing to say now?” he challenged, relishing the moment.
‘Holy shit, he’s so hot when he’s mad.’
Confusion softened his features for a brief moment, and he couldn’t help but let out a, “What?”
“I…I didn’t say anything.”
‘Oh god, am I sweating? Can he smell me? Holy shit, he’s so close to me right now.’
Chan wasn’t sure what he was hearing right now. Especially whatever this was. His mind was already spinning from the obnoxiously loud and relentless voices echoing in his head from earlier—this was something else. The anxiety of your voice in his head, laced with something vulnerable he’s never seen in you before, threw him off-kilter. He felt heat creep into his cheeks as he processed the stray thoughts that weren’t his own, thoughts that broke through the background noise with an unexpected force.
He drew in a breath, barely steady, as he took in every flicker of your expression—the way your lips quivered as if on the edge of saying something, then closed again, and how your gaze dropped just briefly, as if to gather strength, before lifting to meet his, defiant but with a hint of uncertainty in your gaze. That simmering frustration from earlier dissolved, replaced by a charged curiosity that spread through him.
“Are you okay?” he asked, letting his words roll out slowly, teasingly, testing the waters of this sudden change in power.
You glanced up, eyes widening slightly as if caught off guard, your shoulders tensing as though bracing against an invisible force. He could practically feel the hurried, jumbled thoughts in your head racing, flickering across your face—hesitation, curiosity, that rare glint of resolve that never seemed to completely fade. It was almost…endearing.
The moment felt charged, like standing on the brink of something electrifying and forbidden. Chan found himself leaning into it, savoring the way his voice dropped, roughened, responding instinctively to this unguarded version of you.
“What?” he murmured, his smile laced with challenge. “Cat got your tongue?”
You drew in a slow breath, fingers clutching the doorframe behind you as if anchoring yourself, your gaze flickering from his face to his hands and then back again, as though the very air around you had thinned.
"Just…” Your voice faltered, lingering in the air, yet you held his gaze, a reluctant tension in your eyes, as if resisting an urge falling deep down a pit you’ve already managed to avoid for so long.
“Just what?” he pressed, amusement saturating his tone, relishing in your timid silence.
You hesitated, pressing your lips together before looking away. “Just… get back to work,” you muttered, fingers clenching the door frame for a moment before finally releasing it as you turned to go.
‘That…was crazy.’
Chan watched you leave, barely holding back a grin as a strange, exhilarating sense of control lingered. For the first time, he felt like he had turned the tables. This bizarre predicament suddenly had its perks.
As the thought settled, another realization dawned: maybe these powers—or whatever they were—could be harnessed. And you, of all people, might just be the key. Finally, it seemed you had some use after all.
The rest of the day passed with surprising ease, a sense of control settling over Chan as he slowly came to terms with this new ability. Whatever this was, if it meant you kept your distance and stayed in check, now it was about time you tasted a bit of your own medicine.
Meanwhile, you kept to the far side of the room, throwing him occasional glances that were equal parts wary and curious, as if still processing the shift that had unfolded between you. The quiet in your demeanor was foreign—almost like a subtle retreat—but Chan could still hear every single thought racing through your mind, echoing around him, feeding his ego.
‘Fuck, why is he looking at me like that?’
The echo of your uncertainties only made Chan’s grin widen. Each new thought layered itself over the rest, but somehow, yours always came through with striking clarity, as if your mind was the loudest voice in the room. He wasn’t sure if he was honing in on it by instinct or if his newfound ability had a mind of its own, drawn to you by sheer force of will—or intrigue.
‘It’s like he’s seeing right through me…oh my god, can you see my underwear or something? I’m gonna kill myself.’
You visibly clenched your thighs, turning away from Chan to avoid his gaze but he was the only thing on his mind. You couldn’t even enjoy the game you were playing anymore.
‘God, he looks really good…makes me wanna take him in the back and tie my hair up–shit, how long is gonna stare at me?’
As each thought drifted by, Chan skillfully sifted through the chaos, honing in on the captivating essence of your unguarded musings. A swell of pride blossomed within him as he recognized that this ability to read minds might not be a curse after all; it was a remarkable gift, one potent enough to give him control over someone as difficult as you
"Leaving so soon, dearest customer?” Chan drawled, leaning against the wall by the exit, his eyes tracking every movement as you gathered your things, your grip tightening around the strap of your backpack.
‘Was he…waiting for me?’
He scoffed, removing his name tag as he did at the end of every shift, a knowing glint in his eyes as he held your gaze, refusing to look away. “You just seem…distant. Thought I’d check in.”
‘He was thinking about me?’ The thought sparked something in you, and you cleared your throat, trying to regain your composure. “Maybe you should focus on yourself for once, and I don’t mean…” Your gaze flickered downward before snapping back up, warmth spreading up your neck.
‘Not that I’d be entirely against it,’ you thought with a quiet chuckle.
With a step forward, his confidence seemed to fill the space between you, his eyes sweeping over you with a boldness that made you catch your breath. He regarded you with a half-lidded gaze, as though he could see through you, a look that sent a prickle of goosebumps over your skin. “Only you would make my concern for you about my genitals,” he murmured, his voice dipping lower. “Think about them often, do you?”
You nearly stumbled, his words unraveling your composure as he turned your teasing back on you with a mastery that left you momentarily speechless. “You…”
“Was I on the money? It’s showing on your face.”
You shook your head lightly, brushing past him without a word, pretending the encounter hadn’t rattled you. But as you moved, he followed, a faint smirk lingering as he kept pace just behind you, relishing in the control he held. Chan tuned into the steady stream of thoughts he could almost feel buzzing around your mind—every second of fluster, every trace of hesitation.
With each step, he could sense your resolve slipping, see the barely concealed tension in your hurried stride as you exited the café, almost like you were running but with no clear destination in mind. And he kept watching, unhurried, savoring every moment as he let his presence linger just enough to keep himself quietly literally in the back of your mind, conflicted with the current predicament.
“Where are you going? You never did answer my question,” he called after you, his tone deceptively casual.
You scoffed, refusing to let your stride falter. “You’re being weird today.”
‘Need to stop myself from jumping him with the way he’s looking at me,’ your thoughts betrayed you, louder than you’d like.
He raised an eyebrow, matching your pace with ease. “Speak for yourself. It’s like you can’t help but avoid me. Almost like you’re hiding something.”
With a quick glance over your shoulder, you forced yourself to meet his eyes, though the effort was as shaky as it was bold. “Wow, nosy much? If I didn’t know better, Chan, I’d think you’re obsessed with me or something.” ‘If that’s the case, God smite me right now.’
“Sounds like you’re projecting.” Chan closed the gap between you, stepping so close only a half-arm’s length separated you. His eyes swept over you, catching the subtle quiver you tried to hide. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d think your obsession is the reason you can barely look me in the eyes right now. Or maybe you’re undressing me with them. Is that it?”
‘Please, for Christ’s sake, I am two seconds away from tearing the clothes off your back and making you shut up with my mouth,’ the thought flashed hot and unfiltered, betraying you in every glance.
Chan’s grin widened, reveling in the crackling tension radiating from you. "Careful with where your eyes are going," he murmured, voice low and teasing. “You don’t know what I might have to do about it if you don’t.”
With that, he turned on his heel and strode off, leaving you rooted in place, your final unguarded thoughts echoing in his head as he went back home.
‘Maybe that's all I want to do now.’
In the days leading up to Halloween, you’d been keeping your distance, and Chan’s telepathic abilities showed no signs of fading. Every day, you kept to the same routine—avoiding his gaze, interacting with your shared friends, and hiding those unspeakably dirty thoughts behind a prissy, composed facade. At first, Chan found it amusing, this secret insight into your mind, but as the days wore on, he became more curious, more intrigued. How much of what you showed the world actually aligned with those hidden, guilty desires?
His gaze drifted to the costume hanging in his closet like an eyesore—a dinosaur suit that, though comical, would probably have him sweating profusely all night. Then there was Soonyoung’s “thirst trap” suggestion, an outfit that showed way more skin, something Chan had immediately rejected and returned but still left in the back of his mind. However, an idea began to take shape, a clever compromise that might just keep your attention exactly where he wanted it. For experimental reasons, of course.
You didn’t come into work that day, likely dodging him on purpose, which only left Chan to navigate the usual mundane thoughts of the café’s patrons—mostly comments about costumes or Halloween plans. Without your thoughts slipping into his mind, the day seemed flat, dull even.
“Hey, Chan.” ‘Hello body-ody-ody.’
Chan caught Jeonghan’s stare as he stood there in a rabbit costume, the moment stretching out just a beat too long. Chan’s confidence wavered just a bit, a warm flush creeping up his neck as he glanced down, lightly fiddling with the arms of his dinosaur onesie, which were tied loosely around his waist. He was half-bare beneath the café lights, with only a simple chain dangling around his neck, and suddenly the whole look felt a little bolder than he’d intended.
He let out a nervous chuckle, his voice softening as he managed, “Uh…am I doing too much?” He could feel his cheeks warm as he looked up again, almost as if he expected Jeonghan to burst out laughing any second. But instead, Jeonghan’s expression softened, a crooked smile forming, clearly more amused than anything.
“...Huh? Oh, sorry, I was looking at your body.”
Chan’s cheeks flushed as he instinctively crossed his arms over his chest. “Bro,” he muttered, clearly flustered.
“Chan, you’re fine. It’s Halloween, dressing like a slut is normal in this time of year.” Jeonghan clapped him on the shoulder.
“Jeonghan…”Chan murmured, half-scolding but feeling even more self-conscious under Jeonghan’s praise.
“In fact, I’m happy you’re finally putting yourself out here. I would think the eye candy I hired would sell himself off a little more,” Jeonghan chuckled to himself, thinking, ‘And man, did I nail that hire.’
Chan blinked, stunned. “You’re joking.”
‘I’m not,’ Jeonghan thought proudly, then said aloud, “I’m not.” Jeonghan’s devilish smile widened as he subtly nodded toward the crowd filling the café. Among the usual patrons were a few fresh faces, particularly a growing group of college-aged girls who seemed unable to keep their eyes off Chan.
Chan’s thoughts drifted back to that morning. He’d been in the stockroom, reorganizing supplies while Minghao ran the front, completely unaware of the number of glances that had slipped through the cracked door, trailing over him as he worked. Now, seeing the lingering stares, he realized his costume had sparked more than just Halloween spirit—it had created quite a stir, evening out it’s usually male dominated atmosphere.
Now he was starting to wonder if he’d been filtering out the roaming thoughts a little too well, considering what he’d missed:
‘What is that costume even…? Actually, I don’t even care. He’s so yummy…’
‘I’m literally drooling. Oh my god, he just looked at me—I’m shaking.’
‘Did guys this hot always work here? Guess I’ll have to come by more often now.’
‘I kind of want to get his number…maybe then he’d let me ride his—’
Chan's eyes widened as the wave of unabashed admiration washed over him. He hadn’t expected this much attention, and a shy grin crept onto his face. “I-I get it now. Um… wow.”
He threw a timid glance toward their corner, and the response was immediate: the girls erupted in muffled squeals, giggling and whispering as if sharing secrets too wild to be spoken aloud. Their eyes gleamed with a mix of awe and infatuation, lingering on him even as they leaned into each other, cheeks flushed, exchanging looks that made Chan feel both flattered and exposed.
“See? You’re a staple here, and you’re doing great,” Jeonghan said with a grin. “Rack up those tips, and when you clock out, fill me in on any last-minute details about the party tonight. Just in case I missed anything.”
“Sure, Jeonghan.”
Now that Chan had come to terms with the fact that his costume was effective for a similar demographic, a swell of confidence bubbled within him that you would react the same. All he needed now was a chance to show it off to the right person. But as he glanced around the café, scanning for you amidst the crowd, a tinge of disappointment set in. Despite the lively atmosphere filled with laughter and chatter of the spooky festivities, you were nowhere to be found, and he couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that maybe he was the reason.
As the hour drew nearer, Chan felt a growing sense of frustration. Maybe he had been misreading your thoughts all along, or perhaps his powers were glitching today. The very idea of having such abilities was absurd, yet here he was, confused as to why he couldn’t detect your voice. He needed to make sense of it all. How could you swing from hating him one moment to lusting after him the next, only to ghost him entirely? Each possibility twisted in his mind, leaving him feeling more lost than ever. The anticipation that had once excited him now felt heavy with uncertainty, gnawing at his confidence just as he was getting used to it.
Seungcheol’s voice rang out with a mix of authority and enthusiasm, echoing through the bustling café. His energy was infectious, as he gestured animatedly, urging everyone to transition from the work grind to the festive spirit. With his usual flair, he rallied the team, his eyes sparkling with excitement for whatever chaos awaited them upstairs. The air buzzed with anticipation as he clapped his hands together, urging the staff to shake off the day’s fatigue and dive into the night’s festivities.
Meanwhile, Chan busied himself with the final preparations for the party, glancing at the door every few moments, hoping to see you walk through it finally. He didn’t have much of a plan but he had the spirit of one, bouncing off in the corners of his mind like the vibrant colors of the haunted jungle punch sloshing around in his red Solo cup. The punch was fruity and something strong, but it did little to calm his growing anticipation.
Despite the cheerful atmosphere around him, he fought to maintain a carefree demeanor, all while tuning out the cacophony of voices in his head. Racy thoughts and flirtations from other partygoers echoed through his mind, but none of it held the same thrill as the prospect of hearing your voice. Each thought was a distraction, a reminder of the palpable heat that he felt on his skin when he heard your thoughts for the first time and how it made his heart clench for a reason other than annoyance.
He could almost visualize the energy you brought with you, the way your laughter lit up the room, and how your teasing remarks made his pulse pick up pace. Chan found himself nursing the drink, hoping the sugar and alcohol would somehow bridge the gap between him and you not being here like he hoped you’d be. The raucous fun around him only intensified his longing, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that tonight wouldn’t be complete without you by his side.
‘Oh, fuck.’
It hit him like the chime of a clock striking the hour, electrifying and undeniable. Your voice echoed in his mind, pulling his attention as if drawn by an invisible force. He turned to see you entering through the doors, your presence instantly commanding the room.
Your gaze locked onto his, and for a moment, time seemed to freeze. You were enveloped in a dress of the deepest black, hugging your form from chest to waist before flaring out dramatically and hitting just above your knees. Sheer green tights adorned your legs, glimmering under the soft lights, and a pointed hat crowned your head. You were a vision of the Wicked Witch of the West and Chan could see that never had he thought that vision could be so alluring.
In that moment, everything around him dissolved—the laughter, the music, the chatter of partygoers—as his entire focus narrowed in on you. You were breathtaking, igniting something primal within him that he thought he could shut off. But—
‘I could eat you up, Lee Chan.’
A smile tugged at his lips as he followed after you, sharing the same sentiment as your unspoken hunger. “Took you long enough.”
‘Mmh, so he was waiting for me. Again.’
“Didn’t realize you were waiting for me.” Your chuckle was laced with arrogance. ‘Where the hell is his shirt? And why couldn’t he have given me the pleasure of taking it off?’
“You’ve been avoiding me, which is unusual for you,” Chan remarked sarcastically, watching intently as you poured yourself a drink, bending his arm in a way that not-so-effortlessly flexed his upper arms. “And you didn’t come by the café at all today.” He leaned in slightly, narrowing his gaze. “I thought it might have something to do with me.”
“You?” Your incredulity echoed in your mind. ‘Lee Chan? You were worried about me?’
You stepped closer, invading his space with a confidence that sent a thrill through him. Your gaze traced a deliberate path from his eyes, down the strong line of his jaw, pausing to appreciate the way the light danced across his bare skin. It dipped lower, gliding over the defined contours of his chest, each muscle accentuated by the flickering glow of the party lights. You lingered at his waistband, taking in the way the fabric clung to him seductively.
As your eyes returned to his, there was a spark of mischief in them that didn’t need mind reading to understand, leaving the recipient breathless. The air between you seemed to thrum with unspoken words but clear dialogue, thick with a tension that wrapped around you both. He could feel the heat radiating off your body, drawing him closer to you. The world around you faded into a blur, leaving only the two of you suspended in this charged moment, as if the very atmosphere crackled with anticipation.
“Yeah. Me.” Chan confirmed, his grin widening.
“Well, look who took the time to finally make it.” You both felt a weight on your shoulders as someone drove in between you both, becoming the deli meat in this strange sandwich.
Soonyoung hugged his cheeks between your faces and grinned, oblivious as always to his surroundings. “Hey, guys.”
‘Good, I stopped the fight before they decked it out in front of everyone.’
“Hey, Soonyoung,” you said, wrapping an arm around his waist and forcing a smile. “I see you’re recycling your costume from last year.”
“Uh, it’s not a reuse! This is clearly a brand-new bodysuit, complete with paws!” He lifted his tiger mitts dramatically, waving them in front of your face as if trying to convince you of their novelty. “Very new and totally fierce!”
“Oh, of course, you look good.” You chuckled, genuinely appreciating his energy.
Soonyoung then turned his attention to Chan, eyes wide with excitement. “Whoa, Chan! Look at you, buddy! I told you showing off a little skin would do you good, and wow, look at all this!”
He let out an exaggerated whistle, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Our sexy little dinosaur! You’re making all the other costumes look bad!”
“Okay, okay, thanks, Soon.” Chan let out a hearty laugh, a flush of embarrassment creeping across his cheeks as he playfully patted his friend’s shoulder. He quickly shrugged him off, attempting to create a buffer to ward off Soonyoung’s inevitable groping.
“Oh, so that’s what you’re supposed to be,” You teased, “Couldn’t tell from the lack of clothes.”
Chan snorted, his amusement bubbling to the surface. “I’m clearly showcasing my costume from the waist down—tail included,” he said, gesturing dramatically. “But just remember, even if my costume is down there…” He raised his fingers and motioned to his eyes, an impish glint in his gaze “…my eyes are definitely up here.”
‘What if I want to look at what’s underneath the costume?’
‘What’s going on here...?”
Chan can’t help but grin at the challenge in your eyes while blatantly ignoring the confusion in Soonyoung’s.
“Showing off the merchandise but not letting people browse? You’re not exactly running a lucrative business here, Lee Chan.”
“Who says I’m running a business?” Chan shot back with a playful smirk dancing on his lips. “I’m simply looking for..exclusive clientele.” His eyes sparkled with mischief, an invitation wrapped in flirtation.
‘I might have to sample a bit of that to see if it’s to my taste, which I’m sure it will be,’ you thought, wishing you could say it out loud. Instead, a soft giggle escaped your lips, though Chan caught the thought loud and clear. A playful grin spread across his face, the corner of his mouth twitching upward as he leaned in just a little closer, seeing the playfulness dance in your eyes.
“You guys are speaking weird,” Soonyoung chimed in, his words slightly slurred as the effects of the alcohol began to show. He swayed a little, a goofy grin plastered across his face.
Chan patted his striped friend on the back with a friendly nudge. “Why don’t you check if Jihoon needs help with the music, buddy? You’d be a real asset.”
“Oh, I would be so good at that!” Soonyoung declared, practically bouncing on his heels before darting off with uncontainable enthusiasm.
Chan turned back to you, arching an eyebrow with a playful glint in his eye, eager to stretch out the moment. “So, did you bring anything special to offer?”
“Just some wine that Minghao practically wrestled away from me when I walked through the front door,” you replied, rolling your eyes with a feigned exasperation. “Have you sorted out those party games you were so excited about?”
“Should be starting in a couple of minutes,” he assured, his gaze flicking around the party setup, but the warmth of his attention remained fixed on you. “In the meantime, feel free to indulge in the snacks or candy. They’re just as sweet as you.”
‘Oh?’
“How thoughtful of you,” you compliment, pleasantly surprised.
“Forgot to mention the warheads, but still considerably sweet.”
The night unfolded like a game of push and pull, with Chan pulling you in more than he ever had before. The playful tension crackled between you, and he could tell that the idea of playing hard to get was on your mind tonight. Even with all the distractions around you, your thoughts were surprisingly coherent—you wanted Chan, and he knew it. Yet you refused to give him the satisfaction of admitting it. That was when he realized that the party games he had planned would serve as the perfect tool to tilt the odds in his favor.
“Alright, everyone, gather around! On behalf of our activities coordinator, Chan, I’ll be hosting the game he selected for us tonight. Why don’t you tell us what it is, Chan?” Seungcheol announced, his tone playful as he gestured for Chan to take the spotlight.
Chan stepped forward, his gaze lingering on you for a moment before he cleared his throat. “Tonight, we’ll be playing manhunt—a twist on hide and seek with major stakes. The last person standing will win a grand prize, and the seeker who finds the most players will earn a reward just as significant. There will be three seekers.” He paused for effect, relishing the eager anticipation in the room. “The rules are simple: (1) no running, (2) you must reveal yourself once your name is called, and (3) most importantly, have fun. The prizes will be unveiled after the game ends.”
Vernon raised his hand eagerly. “Is the prize money?”
“Vernon, what did I just say?” Chan replied, suppressing a grin as he earned a solemn nod in response.
“Is there a time limit?” Mingyu chimed in, curiosity sparkling in his eyes.
“Forty minutes.”
Wonwoo started to raise his hand. “What about—”
“Enough questions!” Seungcheol interrupted, chuckling as he saw the anticipation on everyone’s faces. “Chan, pick your seekers.”
Chan rubbed his hands together, a cocky smile spreading across his face as he surveyed the crowd, already knowing who he wanted. “I choose Joshua, Seokmin, and myself. While Seungcheol counts to twenty, the rest of you will scatter and hide.” His grin widened, mischief dancing in his eyes. “And remember, don’t get caught. Losers will face punishment, too,” he added, eliciting a collective groan from the group.
Seungcheol stood in the middle of the room, gesturing for the helpers to shut off all the lights, leaving the entire floor of the building pitch black and ready for the taking. “Starting now. Twenty… nineteen… eighteen…”
The harmonious sound of footsteps retreated from the room, the darkness perfectly concealing any shadows that might betray anyone’s position. Chan needed no light to do what he had to do but turned on his phone camera the moment the counting ended. He met the eyes of his fellow seekers, barely visible in the glow of their phone lights, anticipation clear on their faces. “We’ll cover our own ground until we run out of places to search, then it’s a free-for-all,” Joshua suggested.
“Got it. I’ll head out first,” Chan insisted, earning a collective nod and finding his own path.
He navigated through the stream of thoughts, weaving between them like a radio dial tuning into a specific frequency, determined to hone a singular voice.
‘Ugh, why did I have to choose this one to hide in? This is such a bad idea.’
Chan smiled recognizing the familiar pitch, beelining straight for the sound, passing the other voices that may interrupt his route.
In a singular room, his in particular, you were the only one loud enough to break through.
‘Oh, shit, someone’s here. Please go away, please go away.’
No matter how carefully you tried to muffle your presence, it radiated from the closet, an open invitation to Chan’s mind-reading senses. He crept closer, footsteps soft as whispers, his hand hovering over the knob. With a slow, deliberate movement, he eased it open, revealing your figure barely concealed behind the racks of his half-filled closet. Your eyes darted to his, and a quiet “Fuck…” slipped out as he stepped inside, claiming the cramped space beside you.
The closet was shadowed in near-darkness, the room's lights off, but a sliver of moonlight streamed through the window, illuminating through the slits of the closet in faint, wispy beams. As your eyes adjusted, you could just make out the silhouette of Chan, his figure close, a playfully smug smile catching the dim light as he settled in front of you.
‘What is he–’
Chan lifted a finger to his lips, signaling for silence before you could utter a protest. His eyes held yours with an intensity that had your pulse racing, each beat a rapid tattoo under the thin skin of your neck. Footsteps echoed faintly from the hallway outside, the other seekers passing by Chan’s room without a second thought, oblivious to the two of you hidden mere inches apart.
‘He’s so close. He smells so good,’ you thought, the hint of his cologne making your breath hitch. Chan couldn’t help the tiny grin tugging at his lips—props to him for choosing the good cologne today.
‘He’s practically pressed against me. Is this what dying and going to heaven feels like?’
Chan stifled a laugh, stepping even closer, until the heat radiating from his skin was undeniable. In a whisper, he teased, “Try not to get caught.”
“But you—” you started, barely finding your voice to remind him that he was in fact one of the people you’re not supposed to get caught from, only to have it die on your lips as his hand pressed lightly on the wall beside you, leaving little room to breathe, let alone escape.
“Shh,” he murmured, eyes glinting as he held you captive against the panel, a hair’s breadth away.
“Chan…” you murmured, half-breathless, gazing up at him with a mixture of confusion and exhilaration as the closeness left you dizzy, the space between you charged and impossibly small.
His eyes drifted down, seeing your lips pursed slightly in direction, calling to his attention, begging to be claimed.
‘He’s staring again.’ your thighs clenched against each other, hiding the pool of your heat as you could feel it seep through your panties. ‘He looks at me like this any longer I might just fuck him right here.’
Chan shifted closer, his nose grazing yours, so close he could catch the faint sweetness lingering on your breath. "You have to be quiet…real quiet," he whispered, his voice barely more than a murmur.
“W-why?” you stammered, the question coming out in a whisper as his hands found your hips, drawing you against him with a gentle but possessive pull.
He paused, his eyes flicking between yours, a soft smile teasing at the corner of his lips. “Because,” he breathed, his voice sending a delicious warmth down your spine, before he leaned in, closing the miniscule gap and bridging you together in the sweetest of symphonies.
‘Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god–’
His hand clasped against your cheek, hips digging against yours and pinning you to the wall as his tongue traced in the inside of your mouth, exploring you until he could familiarize himself. He felt bound to you, having taste what’s been distant thought now a full blown movie, a movie that he'd rewatch until the day he dies.
Your hand caressed the back of his neck, tenderly kneading his skin and pushing yourself closer to his body. The hands that ached to touch him found their peace, gliding on his skin and feeling the outline of his body, through every contour and crevice, so hot it’s sweltering, simply melting underneath him.
‘This is so awesome…don’t ever make this stop…’
He held you by your thigh, brought it to his exposed side, and lifted you from the ground, crushing his weight against you to keep you in place. His eagerness poked against your stomach, taunting you with its size, and parting your mind for thoughts of its sensation plunging inside you, wrecking havoc.
‘Oh god, I’m gonna cum thinking about want I’d do when I fuck him.’
Chan softly chuckled, pulling away and looking at the glisten in your eyes, feeling your skin flushed against him, hearing how your mind screamed for him in ache. “Are you—“
“Yes,” you gingerly nodded, not giving him a second to finish his sentence, “Whatever it is. Yes. Or no. Or whatever.”
‘Good god, get a grip. Desperate much?’
Chan’s hand crept under the fabric of your skirt, sliding down beneath the layer of green pantyhose and underwear, your vicious slickness immediately coating his fingers. “I like you a little desperate,” he confessed in staggered whispers before slotting his lips between yours again.
Your throbbing cunt thrummed beneath his digits, pulsing around him as he pushed on inside, already coating his knuckles. You seized around him, clenching your stomach, as a clear moan escaped you.
‘What was that?’ Chan sensed Seokmin’s thoughts a mere meters away, franticness in his eyes and the voice of his fellow seeker followed after. “Hello?”
“Hey Seok, Just me!” Chan covered for you, fingers thrusting as they curled up inside you. “I hit my foot on something, so I’m taking a minute breather in my room. No one's here!”
“Mmh, okay, Buddy. Be more careful!”
As soon as the coast was clear, his attention averted back to you. “I said be quiet, didn’t I?”
His hand clamped over your mouth and blocking sounds from leaving as he entered another finger, feeling your muffles hummed satisfyingly against his palm. His smile stretched to the corner of his face. “I told you I’d make you shut up wouldn’t I?”
You rocked into the merciless paces of Chan’s fingers, feeling them massage you in and out, as his palm ground itself against your clit. You head knocked back against the wall behind you, joined by Chan at your hip, letting his fingerss fuck you the way you wish his cock finally would. ‘Oh Lee Chan, Lee Chan, Lee Chan…’
You steadied your arms around his shoulders, eyes fluttering in and out of focus, while your hips snapped back him. It was second nature at this point, responding to him with nothing but open arms.
‘His fingers…my god, his fucking fingers…’
“Faster? Deeper?” Chan offered, sweat dampening tendrils hitting at his eyes.
You nodded, giving no coherent answer as he took away your ability to breathe. ‘Yes, both, please.’
He’d give it to you, watching as tears swelled up in eyes from ecstasy, ramming his digits until he didn’t care who could hear the delicious squelching, the manhunt game so far back in subconscious, it was practically nonexistent.
‘Needed him so bad, need him to fuck me so stupid I could feel him in my throat…Lee Chan…’
Even without mind reading, the look in your eyes told him everything. Your gaze was intense, charged with an incredible sense of longing, as if it held secrets that could start wars or shatter worlds. There was something almost dangerous in it, introducing him to a hunger he couldn’t ignore. How had he never noticed this before? It practically screamed at him to cross these invisible lines. And for a heartbeat, the world felt as if it teetered on the edge, making him realize his touch unleashed something neither of you could hold back from.
When you contracted around his fingers, there was no better word than heaven, the thick release in his enveloping grasp, collecting at the cup of his hands.
Chan showed a hint of mercy, letting your feet settle back on the ground. You pried your tired eyes open, letting the faint moonlight help you take in the dreamy sight before you as you slowly recovered from the waves of your climax. Chan, clearly intrigued by the quiet of your mind, ran his tongue along the underside of his palm, jolting you back to life as you watched, breath hitching at the sight.
‘Oh my…’
Chan grinned, his tongue dragging against every curve, every wrinkle, following even the drip running down his forearm, his eyes not breaking a beat from you as he ate your cum off his fingers. He pressed against you, sweaty and flushed, ensuring every bit of you laid flat on his tongue, swallowing every sweet drop of that golden nectar, softly moaning about its flavor. “Better than my favorite candy.”
‘Oh, this man needs to get me pregnant.’
“A couple more to go! Watch out!” Joshua shouted from down the hall.
There was a brief moment of trepidation Chan felt, cursing his friend mentally for getting their tasks done so quickly, stunned that you and him were able to keep hidden for so long. Chan knew he had to make a move, and quickly.
Shoving up the skirt of your dress, he tore the delicate seams of your green stockings, and a gasp escaped your lips before you had the chance to hush yourself. As soon as you were exposed, Chan sank to his knees, wasting no time. He gripped the ruched hem of your dress, gathering the fabric in his hands in rushed anticipation, pushing aside your panties with his teeth and burying his face inside your warm pussy.
‘This little whore, oh my..’
His tongue pushed flat against you, taking you in at long stripes as his eyes bordered on impatience and deliberate, savoring at how you squirmed against him when his pink muscle curled and licked circles at your entrance. You pushed your weight on him, cried at the thought of him eating you alive when any moment you could get caught.
‘He’s going to kill me, he’s going to kill me. Fuck, those pretty eyes looking back at me. He looks so good eating me out. God, fuck.’
He took your free hand, guiding it to the back of his head, gesturing you to hold on, and like magic, the lower half of his face vanished between your wet folds.
“Oh gah–” You’re the one to shut yourself off this time with the sharp bite of your lip, focused on the passionate exploration of Chan’s tongue–fucking you with intent, and you fought off the urge to scream. He held you up by your thighs, the darkness in his eyes zoning in on you, drunk in thought of witnessing another orgasm, and amplified your senses with the presence of his fingers. You gripped his hair for dear life–further encouraging him to go deeper–worshiping how the soft strands felt against the pads of your fingers as Chan worshipped every inch inside of you.
“Don’t stop,” you managed to whisper, combing through his hair. “Hmm, that’s so nice…god, you’re so hot eating me out like that…”
Chan was starting to confuse your words for thoughts, or maybe was it your thought for words, whatever it was, he couldn’t stop himself from wanting to hear them, your delightful praises directed towards him, or see that beautiful face contort with pleasure.
Your hips began to do that familiar jerk, your pelvis hitting his nose as you sensed something explosive near. Your sounds of ache muffled under your hands, and you twisted your hips, gasp breaking out of you helplessly, and Chan got that familiar fresh flavor of you on his tongue as it dripped out of you.
He helped himself up to pin you back on the wall, the taste of yourself in his mouth, startling addictive, and you reciprocated, getting everything that he’s worked for.
As he pulled away, staring back at you with an unspoken intensity in his eyes. “Let’s get you going.”
Chan led you out of the closet, cum still dripping down your legs, joining the rest of the group to announce your victory: a month-long coupon for free snacks at the gaming café. The triumphant smile on your face as you timidly crossed your legs, only hinting at the far more thrilling victory you’d just shared in Chan’s closet.
The other seekers playfully elbowed him, teasing him for being a terrible seeker. "I’m shocked you found anyone with how long you took!" they laughed. But the mischievous glint in his eyes was hidden under a veil of innocuous feigned confusion. “Guess, I really suck at this,” he shrugged, “Glad you guys had fun.”
And everyone did have fun—so much so that nearly the whole crowd insisted on another round. A round that you and Chan would find just as—if not even more—entertaining than the first.
As soon as Chan locked the door for the PC Cafe, he reclaimed your lips, feeling for your heat underneath your dress and its familiar throb. “Finally, some privacy.”
As fellow hiders this round, you slipped away to a more secluded spot, somewhere private enough to pick up right where you’d left off. Here, with no one else to interrupt, the two of you could finally delve into that spark that you both have only begun starting to understand, the excitement between you simmering just beneath the surface, waiting to be explored in the quiet privacy you’d carved out.
‘Lee Chan, the man you are.’
He slipped you out of your dress and let it hit the ground, leading you to behind the counter and pressing you against it. You looped your arms around him, tugging his dinosaur onesie off with your foot and kicking it to the ground along with your dress, caressing his cock protected under a layer of his briefs. “Chan, please I want you.”
‘More than you’d ever know.’
“I know,” He chuckled, tearing off the final obstacle of your underwear. And stuffing it in the abandoned skin of his Halloween costume. “And I’ll show just the kind of treatment you get when you ask nicely.”
He flipped you around, tearing your pantyhose higher on your ass, and bent you over in front of him. He slowly, and deliberately, fished out his cock, letting it slap against the curve of your ass, hearing the pleads inside your head.
‘God, he so knows what he’s doing. What a tease.’
His lips connected to the back of your neck, with a free hand squeezed around the flesh of your breast. “Say it.”
“Chan…” you whined. ‘Don’t make me beg.’
“I want to hear how much you want me inside of you. I need some transparency from you.”
“Of course, I want it, Chan.” You back yourself against him, leading the head of his cock towards your puffy slit. “Please.”
“Use your words, dirty girl,” He harshly whispered, invoking a feeling not only rare but foreign inside of you as you clenched around nothing.
“I-I want you inside me, Chan.”
“Doing what?”
You whined, “Fucking me.” ‘Using me.’
He scoffed, brimming with pride, readjusting your position as he saw fit, and slowly pushed himself inside you. When you adjust to his size, you had only begun to realize the impact it’s have on you, how it’s be hard to forget such a sensation, until he’s dragging his cock in and out of you. You clawed on wooden counter, bracing yourself, and echoing a low, long groan as he covered every inch of him in your slick walls.
The first thrust was methodical, calculated, determined to show you the whole range of what he’d give you and you’d be lying if you said you weren’t intimidated, but as he found his pace, you began to find your balance. “Oh, fuck…”
You were glued to him, his hips pounding himself against you as his hands collected your breasts in his hands, lips kissing up your neck and behind your ear. “Gonna make you fucking wish your only regret was not fucking me sooner.”
How he easily found your spot was mystery – one that you didn’t think too long and hard on – until he just kept doing it, pulling you back against him as he released his inhibitions. Your sweat pilled against each other, unsure where yours started and where his ends, your bodies intertwined into one sickening display of what almost a year of unspoken lust looked like.
‘Oh, I could get used to this. If he fucked me like this everyday, I wouldn’t complain for a single second.’
And Chan was almost counting on that.
He turned you around again, missing your face and admiring how your disheveled hair only framed its intoxicating aura as he lifted you against the counter and pushed his cock inside you as he towered over you.
The single chain around his neck brushed against your face repeatedly, and calling to your attention loud enough for only Chan to hear.
‘Omg his chain…this is like one of those Twitter memes where fanatics dream of their faves’ chain hanging above their face during sex…and it’s actually happening to me with Chan.’
Suddenly, he had an idea. “Bite on it.”
You blinked at him, registering his words as he suddenly stopped his thrusts. “…What?”
“Bite on my chain while I fuck the living shit out of you.”
You took your time processing the thought, before slowly leaning in, the chain barely meeting your lips before you took it between your teeth and pulled him down with you.
Chan’s once kind smile warped into something more sinister, more primal, and he granted you what he had promised.
His cock slammed against you, reverberating your walls, and you clung on the counter under you, while your vision flickered to the back of your skull. Gritting against the chain on your enamel, your head could not form words clear in any sense, just the echo of yours skin clashing and Chan reveled in that. “Good fucking girl.”
He hand struck your side, squishing you against the counter, feeding you his raw power course through you until he’s fill you up, over and over again. You feed his ego in a way he never expected from someone and wasn’t sure he’d be willing to let it go with whatever happened next, so he was gonna savor the moment he had.
As his arousal coursed through him, squeezed every ounce of energy out of you, ensuring he’d hear his name on your brain and out your lips. He held your tired body, stroking your sides, panting against your skin, and felt the final release ebb out of him like a stream, coating you in perfect white before settling down a stool nearby, sitting you on his lap as you rested against the security of his strong, broad frame.
Wherever this left the two of you, Chan just knew he needed to have you. And considering the emptiness in his head, he needed you for more than he realized.

Imagine King catching feelings for you
Kaido: ah, there he is, King this is the new navigator for the main ship
King: [eyes you in disinterest] I see
You: hello, I look forward to working with you.
King: I'm sure you do.
You: [ignores his rude comment]
Kaido: would you show them around the ship for me?
King: I suppose
You: [opens the door and gestures to it] Lead the way handsome.
King: [looks at you in surprise]
During a dinner
King: [sees you're not touching your sashimi plate]
You: [notices him looking] Do you like sashimi?
King: ... Yes
You: I'm a tad full at the moment to eat mine, could I get your help with it?
King: [wastes no time taking the platter from you] I take it you don't like sashimi?
You: it's not that, I'm just not in the mood for it.
King: [can't tell if you're lying] Good, because I don't know if I can work with someone who doesn't like sashimi.
You: but it would mean more for you.
King: [pauses because he didn't think of it that way before] ... So you're going to give me all your sashimi from now on?
You: [smiles at him] Maybe, if you've been a good boy.
King: [feels unfamiliar emotions stir within him]
After that dinner
You: [goes to King's rooms] King?... King, Kaido wanted me to deliver this course log to you to review for tomorrow... Huh, I'll just leave it on his desk with a note.
King: [exits the shower with just a towel and sees you kneeling on his desk chair and scribbling something down]
You: [turns around to see him trying to duck into another room] King? Is that you?
King: [freezes, knowing he's been seen]
You: wow, I've never seen you without your mask, [realizes this is a breach of his privacy, so you should your eyes] Oh my God, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to look, I promise I won't say anything to anyone.
King: [grabs his sword and stands over you]
You: [looks up when you hear the blade slide out of the sheath]
King: [feels dread and guilt fill his chest when he sees the look of terror in your eyes]
You: why?
King: I can't let you leave now that you know what I am, the government can't know that I'm still alive. I won't ever go back to being someone else's lab rat.
You: I understand. [Lowers your head in acceptance]
King: [can't bring himself to kill you, so he throws it down] damn it all, get out of my chair.
You: [scrabbles out, and silently watches him sit down and make a call using his den den mushi]
King: Kaido, the new navigator knows
Kaido: ehh? I just got them, do you know how hard it is to find a decent navigator and you're telling me you already killed the brand-new one!
King: I haven't killed them.
Kaido: They escaped you, are they at least wounded?
King: [gets comfortable in his chair] No, they're standing right before me.
You: [had a perfect view of his thighs and the v of his hips peaking out of the towel, and now you can see up his towel, so you look away]
Kaido: what's the hold-up?
King: [sees you looking away, so he leans forward, takes your jaw in his hand, and makes you look at him] We can't afford to lose our only navigator while out at sea. I want to keep them by my side in the meantime.
Kaido: [can tell he's not hearing the full truth] ... As long as it doesn't interfere with their duties, you can do whatever you want with them.
King: thank you
Kaido: now good night [hangs up]
King: [puts down the receiver, and runs his thumb over your lips] ... If you try to leave my sight, I will kill you without hesitation. You will stay by my side, and do everything I say. I do not tolerate disobedience, do you understand me? [Gently shakes you to get his point across]
You: [feels tears well up in your eyes]
King: [feels guilty] I'll have servants bring your things, you'll sleep here, with me, from now on... I'm not doing this to punish you, I'm doing this for my own safety, and because I don't want to kill you.
You: [sniffles] I understand
King: [can hear your distress in your voice and it makes him feel sick] Through that door is the bathroom, go bathe while I make a few calls.
You: [slinks into the other room]
King: [calls the kitchens to deliver your favorite desserts, and calls the servant quarters to have them bring your stuff to his quarters]
After your shower
You: [exits the bathroom wearing a clean kimono]
King: [lounging on the couch, in front of a rather impressive spread of sweets] Your things have been moved into your new room.
You: I'm getting a room all to myself?
King: no, you'll be sleeping with me, I need to know where you are at all times
You: we'll be sharing a bed?!
King: yes, now please help yourself to these sweets, I did order them for you.
You: you did, why? [Goes directly for your favorite dessert]
King: You were distressed, and this was the only way I could think of to help you feel better... Your distress is understandable, I know this isn't ideal for you, being practically chained to my side... And while I can't let you go, I just wanted you to know that... I don't want you to worry or be afraid of me, because I'm not going to hurt you. I can't risk going back to what I was before Kaido, I won't go back to it.
You: ... You mentioned the government earlier, I take it you were held captive by them.
King: yes, it's why I wear the mask.
You: [can see him practically squirming in his seat] Really? And here I was thinking you wore it because it was a fetish.
King: well it is, but it's not the sole reason I wear it.
You: Sasaki owes me 800 Berry then.
King: you people were betting on me?
You: to be fair we bet on everything, there's not a lot to do on a boat in the middle of the ocean.
King: [sighs dramatically] That's true, but back to the topic at hand, I usually kill people for finding out what I am.
You: but not me, what makes me so special?
King: I don't know.
You: [ruminates for a moment] How did seeing me distressed make you feel?
King: uncomfortable, guilty, I dunno? I just didn't like it.
You: hmm I see, so you don't want to kill me, seeing me upset disturbs you, and you have anxiety if I am out of your sight.
King: believe whatever you want about my reasoning, it changes nothing.
You: ... One final question
King: [rolls his eyes, and crosses his arms] Fine, final question.
You: when you were on the call with Kaido, why did you make me look at you?
King: I didn't like that you were looking away.
You: I see.
King: ... Why did you look away?
You: I could see up your towel.
King: How much did you see?
You: some of your balls, and most of your shaft.
King: [feels arousal and embarrassment well up in him] Are you finished with your food?
You: I believe so.
King: come, I'll show you the bedroom.
You: [follows him and takes it in] Why are there no lights?
King: because it's time for bed [gets settled in bed when he notices you haven't moved] are you coming or are you sleeping on the floor?
You: that bed doesn't look like it'll fit both of us?
King: [rolls his eyes, grabs your arm, and pulls you into the bed up on his chest.] It's just fine, relax and go to sleep, I won't do anything.
You: [rests your weight on him and struggles to get comfortable]
King: [agitated because you're so close to him and he's experiencing new emotions he didn't know he had] Would you stop fidgetingñ
You: I'm trying to get comfortable and avoid kicking you in your dick!
King: [realizes how aroused he is by having you so close] tsk, do it quickly.
The next morning
King:[wakes up empty-handed, panics, and looks around until he sees you]
You: [asleep on his wing, face nuzzled into his down feathers, and has handfuls of his flight feathers.]
King: [mental cogs slide into place and he realizes he's in love with you] Oh fuck [sits up]
You:[awakens with a shriek when the surface below is yanked out from under you]
King: [sits up on the side of the bed with his hands covering his face]
You: [pushes your upper half up onto your palms as you twist to look over at him] What's going on?
King: [ looks over to see you half asleep, messy-haired, and your kimono had loosened in your sleep and was now only closed over your lap and under the obi belt, giving him an eyeful of your shoulders, the center of your chest, and from mid-thigh down]
You: it's like five in the morning, what's going on? [Reaches out and pulls on his feathers]
King: nothing, go back to sleep.
You: [doesn't need to be told twice, and plops back down and wiggles back into a comfortable position]
Bout a week later
King: [has so much pent-up tension he's basically a walking time bomb that everyone avoids]
Kaido: what have you been doing to him to make him so cranky?
You: I have absolutely no clue.
Kaido: well you better do something about it before he snaps and burns down my ship.
You: [ goes to King's room to find him tensed up and hunched over his desk] Kaido wants me to do something.
King: what now?
You: he wants me to fix whatever I've been doing to make you so cranky.
King: [scoffs] You haven't done anything.
You: [climbs into his lap, straddles his thighs, and cups his cheeks] And that might be what I'm doing wrong.
King: [relaxes at the softness in your voice, but pulls your hands away from his mask] This is my problem to deal with.
You: can I please help, I'll do anything.
King: anything?
You: [nods] anything
King: [wraps his hands around your hips, and pushes you down so you're seated on his lap]
You: [feels the heat rolling off the erection trapped in his pants] Oh my
King: [guides your body to gently rock against him] You said you'd do anything, and it's your fault it's like this. Don't you think you should take responsibility?
You: [huffs, but puts your back into grinding down on him] It's been days since I moved in, why didn't you tell me sooner?
King: I was already keeping you captive, [Grunts and starts to pant as he tilts his hips up to get more friction] It felt like I would've been pressuring you into something non-consensual.
You: I see [slows your movements to a halt]
King: [huffs and bucks his hips in frustration, pulling on your hips to get you to move again] Don't fucking stop, please.
You: [goes slow] Tell me, is this just lust?
King: [desperate] It can be anything you want it to be, please I just want you.
You: is this all you want? My body?
King: I'll take whatever you give me, but I'll always want more. I'm so fucking greedy for you. I want it all, I want the sashimi you don't like. I want fun evenings out, and restless nights in with you, only to be followed by quiet passionate mornings with you. I want you to look at only me, smile at only me, to fuck only me. I'll take whatever you give, just please give me this, [Presses his thumbs into the softness on your belly] even if it's only this once.
You: you're in love with me?
King: [slumps pathetically into his chair in defeat, and looks at the ceiling] Fuck ... Yes, I am. I am in love with you, and spending every night with you pressed against me has made me insatiable.
You: [giggles]
King: [flips you off]

a functioning member of society | han jisung
Pairing • Jisung x GN!Reader
A/N • This takes place during the events of another series called one little lie. This can be read as a stand-alone fic, but some parts will make more sense with the context of one little lie. (The reader is not the same person as in oll!)
Summary • Jisung is sick at home... or at least, that's what he tells his boss. Really, he just wants to sleep in and hang out with his cute neighbor across the hall. However, less time working means more time fighting the thoughts in his brain.
Genre • smut (with feelings!)
WC • 3k
Content • no pronouns used but the reader does have a vagina, making out, fingering, oral (reader receiving), jisung has issues
Jisung shot up from his bed. He looked at the digital clock on his bedside table; it was 12:54.
He was late.
He had everything planned for today. He woke up early and called in sick to work, just so he could stay home. He was going to sleep in until 11, eat breakfast, make himself look good, and then pay his neighbor a visit across the hall. You invited him over to 'hang out' at noon, and he didn't want to miss it. Unfortunately, he forgot to set his alarm, and he hoped you wouldn't think he's the worst fling ever.
He scrambled to change out of his pajamas.
He might kill himself if he ruined this, like he'd done so many times with so many people in the past. There's only so much a dumb joke and a cute smile can resolve.
You moved in a few months ago, and ever since then, he'd been looking for excuses to see you more. You were gorgeous, fun, smart, and to be honest, way out of his league. He didn't know how he did it, but his boyish charm captivated you enough to have a one night stand. Which turned into a two night stand, and then you just started having casual sex every once in a while.
Maybe one day he'd want something more, and he could certainly see himself falling for you in the future. You were, quite honestly, a perfect match for him. You actually liked his personality instead of just tolerating it, and you were respectful of his boundaries when he avoided more personal questions. The sex was good, but your friendship was better, and for now, this was enough. Whether or not his feelings would grow, he liked to live in the moment- and in this particular moment, he was very late.
He knocked on your door, and when you didn't answer fast enough, he knocked again. Were you ignoring him? Did you get tired of waiting and leave?
He finally heard the door unlocking, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
He stood leaning one hand against the door frame, trying his best to look cool, calm, and collected. Unbeknownst to him, his messy hair stood up on end and his shirt was half-buttoned and half-collared, and when you finally opened the door, he gave the impression that he just woke up.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," you said, and your fingers combed through his hair, smoothing it down to look more presentable.
"I wasn't sleeping... I was just sick." He faked a cough, a purposefully unconvincing performance.
"Ew, go home then," you laughed. You lightly shoved him, and he dramatically staggered back.
"How dare you! Do you know how hard it was for me to get here?" he asked, knowing full well his door was three feet behind him. "I had to climb uphill, both ways, in the snow, barefoot, just to see you."
You looked down. He was wearing pink fuzzy slippers.
"Just get in here," you said, and opened the door wider to let him in.
You barely had time to close the door before he pulled your face towards his own. His lips met yours, and he pressed himself into your body. He couldn't keep his hands to himself, and you felt the ghost of his fingertips all over your back, until they finally found purchase in your hair. His tongue slipped over your soft lips, asking for entrance, and you gladly parted them for him.
Your back met the door as he pinned you against it. You cupped his cheeks, melting deeper into the kiss, and soft moans passed between his lips. He rolled his hips into yours, hungry for as much contact as possible.
Suddenly, you heard something. It sounded like... creepy carnival music.
He pulled away from the kiss.
"Sorry, that's my phone. My friend is calling me," he said, no attempt to turn it off or indication of how ridiculous this situation was. Knowing him, this was probably in his top 10 most normal things to happen while making out.
"What... why is that that ringtone?"
"One day he pissed me off and I changed his ringtone, and then I just never put it back," he explained. "He hates it, but I kind of find it endearing now, like my nightmare clown friend is calling."
The music continued to play, creepy music box melody haunting the room while sinister laughter faded in and out. You couldn't believe this is the man you invited over.
"Aren't you gonna pick up?"
He took his phone out of his pocket, and threw it across the room, landing on your couch and bouncing across the cushions.
"But it's so far..." he said, weakly raising his arm out towards the couch, as if the phone was barely out of reach.
He cupped your face, and went in for another kiss, but you struggled to kiss back. The music completely killed the vibe. You tried to get back into the mood, your hand finding its way into his hair, but his phone was too distracting.
It's only when his hand reached between your thighs that you're finally able to forget about it. You don't know when it stopped, because your mind was consumed with his tongue in your mouth and his hand on your cunt. It clouded over with thoughts of Jisung and his body, and it wasn't until he picked you up and carried you half way to your room that you came back to reality.
His mouth was still pressed against yours when he laid you down on your bed. Your legs were wrapped around his waist, not wanting him to go. You were too addicted to the taste of his tongue, and when he broke away for air, you chased his lips back onto your own. You could tell he felt it too, with the way the hard bulge in his pants pressed against you when he leaned further in.
He was finally able to part from you, and he peppered kisses over your nose, cheeks, chin, where ever he could reach. He lowered himself down your body, kissing you over your clothing, until his head reached your crotch. He wasted no time pulling down your pants. He licked your core over the wet spot in your underwear, savoring the taste of your arousal for him.
Maybe you would've been like this for just anybody, wet and excited for a touch, but he wanted to think this was especially for him. He didn't care if you fucked other people- that would be hypocritical, considering he'd fuck anyone that asked- but he did look forward to seeing you the most, and he hoped you at least felt that way too.
He nestled deeper into your clothed cunt, nose pressed into you, just to stall until you couldn't take it anymore. You whimpered his name, asking for him to do anything, to please touch you, and the sound of you begging for him was like a sweet melody that he never wanted to stop listening to. You liked him, you wanted him, you needed him.
"You're that desperate for me, huh?"
He finally gave in, and pulled your underwear down your legs, stuffing it into his pocket.
If there was one thing Jisung liked, it was the way you reacted when he licked up your folds, lapping up your juices and seeing you squirm. Both his heart and his dick throbbed seeing you get this worked up because of him.
Words could be deceitful. He was painfully aware of this. His thoughts haunted him when he was alone.
But when your fingers combed through his hair, pushing his face closer to your core, those thoughts vanished. He knew, at least right now, you wanted him here. Words could deceive, but actions under the influence of pure pleasure didn't lie.
He inserted one finger, slowly pumping in and out while his tongue flicked over your clit. He licked and sucked, tongue poking down into your hole, savoring the way his name spilled out of your lips. You rocked into his face, needing every inch of him on your pussy, and he happily obliged. He licked a long stripe up your cunt, making you gasp, and he pulled out his finger to tease your entrance. You were soaking wet, and by the way you clenched around the empty space where he once was, he could tell you were desperate for more.
He pushed his finger back into you, a second finger joining this time. His thrusts were faster, and he loved the way you moaned in pleasure when he curled his fingers. Your bucking became more frantic, and he met your desire by sucking on your clit.
You could feel your orgasm building up as his fingers rubbed into you harder. He forced them into you, completely filling you up until he reached his knuckles, before pulling them out and pushing them back in again. You twitched wildly in pleasure, and he had to hold you down with his free arm just to keep licking your folds and circling your clit.
You were trapped under him, unable to grind into his face at the extreme pleasure you were feeling, and he gave you no respite either. He inserted a third finger into you, stretching your walls while he kept pumping into you, and when he pressed a sensitive bundle of nerves, you could feel your climax coming quicker. You barely had time to think before it came gushing out of you, a loud moan of Jisung's name being the only warning he got before his fingers were drenched in your cum.
He pulled out his fingers and replaced them with his tongue, lapping up your juices from inside and out. Not a single drop went to waste.
All he wanted was to pleasure you. Maybe if he made you feel good every time he came over, you'd keep calling him. Maybe you wouldn't get tired of him, like so many others did when they stopped finding his jokes charming for seemingly no reason at all. At least with you, he knew how you liked to be touched.
He didn't want to feel like his friendship was transactional, but how could he not. Everyone found him annoying eventually. It was inevitable.
He didn't want this to end. He was scared. When you caught your breath, would you expect him to go?
"Jisung," you called, snapping him out of a spiral you didn't know he was having. You patted the bed next to you, and he hesitantly climbed in.
Why was it that the more time he spent with you, the worse his thoughts became? It was like his brain couldn't accept a reality where you enjoyed his company, even though you were the one that invited him over in the first place. It made up excuses to explain how this could be happening; you probably just liked sex and he was the only one available, or you just felt sorry for him and somehow this was all you could think of.
You cupped his cheek, looking into his eyes to bring him back to earth. He pushed those thoughts aside as best as he could, and snuggled into your arms.
"Are you alright?" you asked. "You looked a bit distracted right now."
"Oh, uh, just thinking about how sexy you are.
He wanted you to smile, forget about your concern, but a look he can't quite place flashed across your face. It went away just as quickly, but he can't help but read into it.
Was that pity? Disappointment? Worry?
Was there a difference?
He wished he could open up to you, especially after something as vulnerable as sex, but he didn't know how to break down that barrier that kept his anxieties to himself.
"How was I?" he asked softly, and as if he was afraid of being genuine, he added "Was that the best sex you've ever had or what?"
"You were amazing," you said, and a bit of tension eased up in Jisung's body.
"Avoiding the second question, I see."
"Maybe if you used this," you said, and your fingers move to trace the bulge in his pants.
A sudden rush of nerves washed over his body, and he realized just how hard he was. He was so distracted by his own turmoil that he didn't even notice the way his cock throbbed in his boxers.
"I will if you promise to invite me over again," he said, winking at you.
"Of course I will, you don't even have ask," you said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. It wasn't obvious to him.
His heart beat in his chest. Maybe, just this once, he'd believe it.
His body reacts on its own, leaning in to kiss you. It was soft and sweet, an unspoken 'thank you' that he wasn't prepared for.
It's over just as quickly as it began, breaking away to snuggle into your chest.
And then his stomach growled. He didn't eat breakfast because he slept in, and he didn't eat lunch because he was late. He hoped you didn't hear it, but he knew you had to have. Maybe you had some granola bars he could snack on. He could check in the fridge, maybe you could eat together in the living room, make a fun moment out of it...
The living room. Where his phone was. Because he threw it there when he got a call.
He should probably see what Minho needed... but he was so warm and cozy. He didn't want to leave the bed, and he definitely didn't want to leave you. But he really should.
"Hey, remember when my clown friend called?"
You winced, remembering the creepy music that almost completely ruined the mood.
"No, I don't remember. I'm choosing not to."
"You don't remember this?" he asked, before singing the ringtone, followed by menacing laughter, cut off when you covered his mouth to get him to stop.
His creepy laughter turned into giggles as he tried to pry your hands off his face.
He finally did, holding both your wrists in his hands.
"Should I go call him back? The circus might be in trouble..." he said, and then sunk his head deeper into the mattress, "but it's so nice here..."
"You probably should," you replied, and Jisung groaned.
"Ugh, fine."
He pushed himself up, leaving the comfort of your bed and the warmth of your body. He walked out of your room, turning his head repeatedly to give you his sad puppy dog eyes. You shooed him away, and he finally left for the living room. His phone was still on the couch, face down and waiting for him to rescue it.
One new voicemail. Press 1 to play.
"Jisung, call me back ASAP. It's an emergency."
"Oh, shit."
He called Minho back, and he immediately picked up.
"Oh thank god," Minho sighed.
"What happened!?"
"Ok... don't laugh."
Of course, as soon as he heard what Minho had done, Jisung erupted into a full body laugh.
He hadn't noticed you enter the living room, but you couldn't help but be curious after what you heard.
"Yeah, I'll be there as soon as I can," Jisung said, and he heard Minho sigh in relief. "But I wouldn't worry about her. Trust me, I've known her waaaaay longer than you. She'll be fine."
The conversation didn't last much longer, Jisung promising to be there 'as soon as he finished some important documents', and hanging up.
"Are you leaving?" you ask. "I was going to get you some food."
The way you looked at him, sad to see him possibly go... maybe he should've felt his heart break seeing you like that, but instead his heart swelled. You didn't want him to leave, you didn't just want him for sex and nothing else.
"Well... if you're offering food..." he said, and your face lit up. You body language was expressive, and he noticed it every time.
He knew words could be deceiving, but your actions always told the truth. He would always have thoughts about how people perceive him, if they really liked him or not, if they would leave if he became 'too much'... but with you, he wanted to trust you. He chose to trust you, even if his brain screamed the opposite.
"Nah, I'd stay regardless," he said, "he thinks I'm at work anyway, so I can spend more time here, if you want."
"That's why I invited you over, isn't it?"
If only he could express the warm tingly sensation that ran through his body when he heard those words. He felt butterflies in his stomach, something he hadn't experienced since high school.
He was going to ignore what that could possibly mean for him.
Time passed, you enjoyed your time together, but he thought it was finally time to go rescue his friends. You walked him to the door, and hugged him goodbye.
You pulled away, and that's when you see it.
"Is that my underwear in your pocket?"
"Huh?" he looked to his pocket, and sure enough, white fabric was spilling out. "Oh... whoops! How did that get there? Must've crawled in when I wasn't looking." He pulled it out and shoved it into your hand.
"You know what? Keep it. You obviously want it more than me," you said, stuffing it right back into his pocket.
He was definitely going to use that later.
"If you say so," he said. He turned to leave, but you grabbed his arm to say one more thing.
"Just... when you're done, please wash it and give it back."
He gasped, and his hand clasped his chest in mock offense.
"I would never do something so uncouth-"
"Jisung. Wash it. It was expensive and I want it back."
"Ok, ok, I will," he said, and smirked. "You want me back here that bad, huh?"
You roll your eyes.
"You're lucky you're cute."
He finally left your apartment, and when the door closed behind him, he felt twice as light as when he came in.

➣ includes : boyfriend!matsukawa issei. and lord this is sooo suggestive but it never crosses into actual smut, it's just.. kind of intense making out and hickeys. this is probably ooc but I DONT CARE! HE'S SEXY OOC!!!
note : for my love @angelkiyo bc she gave me some inspo n i luv her <333 i got totally off track from ur original idea about mattsun n makki eating crazy edibles so yeah ummmm......
"let me know if you like it" matsukawa issei grins at you, waiting for you to eat the cookie in your hand held above your head. you're splayed across his bed, head hanging off it, turned to face your boyfriend. he's close to you but sitting on his rug with his back leaning against his bed. his arms rest on his knees, head lazily lolling back, copying how you've turned to face him.
you inspect the chocolate chips warily. last time you and mattsun got baked, it had you talking to the frank ocean poster on his wall for an hour and then going completely silent, no talking, for the rest of the night. staring at the wall silently while you desperately tried to regain your composure had become a common occurence when getting high. mattsun suggested you should slow down on it, and you agreed. but recently, you had been incredibly stressed, and it had been a a month or two since you had given up weed. so when your boyfriend proposed a sesh to help ease your mind, you happily accepted. that didn't mean you weren't having at least some reservations.
"i know you've been greening out on the old shit," he takes a bite, "that's why i got a new plug. i haven't greened out yet, but i know you're low tolerence."
"you didn't have to do that, 'sei" your eyebrows raise, flattered that he would go to the trouble to do something as tedious as that.
"anything for you, pretty girl," he shrugs, and gives you a small kiss, pulling back with a lazy smile that was enough to make you feel out of it without even eating the cookie, "and i didn't really fuck with the other dude anyways, always getting my stuff late. this new guy has edibles which is so much better than having to bake it myself"
you gasp. "i thought you liked baking them with me!" you roll over onto your stomach, folding your arms to rest your chin on them, pouting. "aw baby, don't pout," he pokes your cheek, "y'know i like baking with you, we can just bake something normally." you try not to smile which only makes his grow wider. "now eat that quick i wanna go see a movie" he nods to the cookie still in your hand, and you take a bite, emphasizing each chew sarcastically. "okay but if i start tripping out trying to kiss frank ocean again it's your fault"
"i'll break you guys up, no problem. i can't have you kissing him"
"what? are you jealous?"
"yeah, of you. as soon as i break you guys up, it's my turn to kiss him. i'll defend his honour and everything"
"i can't believe you would choose frank ocean over me- you know what just... go grab your keys."
mattsun pulls into the drive-in movie, one hand on the wheel and the other resting on your thigh. you continue to demolish the burger in your hand, a big grin on your face to see the movie playing was jennifer's body. "i love this movie!!" you exclaim through bites as megan fox holds a lighter to her tongue. "yo slow down" matttsun laughs and grabs the fast food bag from your lap. that pulls your gaze away from the movie to him as you lick your fingers clean from sauce, then widen your smile. "thank you for the food, baby"
he doesn't know what it is, but that has him feeling some type of way. maybe it's the weed, or maybe it's the fact that you just look so good right now. tank top spaghetti strap lazily slipping off your shoulder and little shorts riding up your thighs, makeup marinated and lip liner almost entirely smeared off under the gloss. he wanted to kiss it completely off, he wanted to slide both straps off your shoulder, he wanted you.
his pupils dilate even more, and he leans over to kiss you. your initial surprise dissipates into comfort as you melt into his touch. you tuck a stray curl behind his ear at the same time his hand goes to rest on the back of your neck. "mm, what was that for?" you giggle when he pulls away. "you just had a lil somethin' on your lips. had to get it for you"
"you're so sweetttt," you're drawing out your words, feeling dizzy from his sudden kiss, "you're sooo good to me" he love how affectionate you can be with your word when high. you refocus on the movie with a content expression on your face.
"you're so cute. i just kissed you, that's all." he muses, and he breaks your attempted concentration on the movie with a kiss to your neck. as he sucks a purple mark into your soft flesh, your breath hitches. "issei..."
"you're so sensitive like this." you can feel his teasing smile against your skin, and you internally roll your eyes. as if he isn't equally sensitive. he doesn't try to hide it, a small groan leaving his lips when his hand returns to its place on your thigh and you grip his forearm. the noises you're making has him feeling lightheaded, and he can't get enough of you. "'sei please can't you see i'm trying to watch a movie?" you complain while you lean into his touch especially when his thumb rubs on your skin. your thighs close on his hand, and he smirks, still pressing small blooming bruises into your neck. "'m sorry baby, i just can't get enough of you"

abby wants say yes to heaven, say yes to you, and let fear she has fall away. you thought you were only a lost memory to abby until this summer. now, you’re standing in front of abby in the rain with shoes full of water staring at each other.
content: fluff with angst. summer before graduation. 18+ no smut. no specific descriptions of reader but is feminine.
word count: 2.2k
The salt air coming in from your open window cools your skin from the summer heat. You're lying on your bed watching season three of stranger things as you always do at the start of summer. Or at least you were watching it until your best friend, Jackie, came over. It's the summer before your senior year and you’re trying to soak up every bit of it before you graduate.
You and Jackie made a list of what you want to do this summer consisting of tanning to getting matching tattoos to trying out surfing. Luckily you live on an island making it easy to complete. today you wanted to check off going to the aquarium off your list. While you were going through your closet for an outfit, Jackie was talking about a boy she swears she’s in love with after knowing him for two weeks.
Finally, you found the dress you were looking for. You always felt your best while wearing it and thought your skin glowed with the color. you stood in front of the mirror in awe.
Downstairs, you hear the door slam and someone yell to your mom that they’re hungry.
It's your older sister, Sarah coming back from volleyball practice. You both might be lesbian, but someone was definitely dropped too many times as a baby. You hear your mom greet Sarah and someone else.
“Well look who it is. my favorite Anderson!”
Abby. Anderson.
She's your sister’s best friend and also plays in the same volleyball team. You've had a crush on since you laid eyes on her. The way she carries herself and listens to you always filled you with butterflies. making eye contact with her blue eyes made you dizzy. Her love for books makes you wish you didn’t get so flustered around her so you could ask her about what she’s currently reading.
There was something about Abby that had your heart wanting more. she always knew how to pull you in. Unfortunately, she was off limits. your older sister made you promise you wouldn’t complicate things and ruin her friendship, but it takes two to tango. the stolen glances and subtle touches can only last so long before Sarah gets suspicious. Neither you nor Abby have confessed any real feelings, but it was enough to raise red flags for Sarah.
You feel yourself getting nervous at the thought of seeing her again. You haven’t seen Abby since last summer since she wasn’t home for Christmas. the four of you camped out together at the beach since the weather was more tolerable compared to summer. Sarah and Jackie fell asleep, so the both of you laid down next to each other looking up at the stars. Abby was a nerd when it came to constellations. She pointed out every single one she found, then it got quiet letting you only hear the waves crashing.
You felt at peace and closed your eyes to take it all in. Abby turned her head and admired you as she always did. The next morning, you woke up to Abby holding you close to her chest; her breath tickling your neck. You look up to see the blonde deeply sleeping. Her eyes lashes so long and freckles covering her skin. Being an early bird has its perks when you wake up before your older sister sees you cuddling her best friend.
Your reminiscing is soon interrupted by your older walking into your room eating a sandwich and laying on your bed with Jackie.
Just in record time, Abby comes behind her but doesn’t go into your room. Instead, she leans against your doorway focusing on the one person.
Through your mirror your eyes made eye contact with the bluest eyes you’ve seen. her freckles covered her sun kissed skin. Her arms are crossed in front of her chest making her arms show off for you.
Abby’s eyes rake over your body, drinking in every curve before meeting your eyes again. She tried to be discreet but couldn’t help but admire you.
She thought you were glowing and couldn’t believe such beauty existed, but you always proved her wrong. She loved way your eyes crinkled with your laughed at her joke. Oh my god she thinks I’m funny. Those were one of the few times she saw your true personality.
SAY HI IDIOT. Abby’s mind screamed at her.
“Hi.”
Her voice filled with honey and softness. You feel your knees get week and feel a shiver run through your spine. Abby notices and smirks then looks away to let you breathe.
You mentally kick yourself for not evening answering. It's one word!! two letters!! stupid stupid stupid!!
Thankfully, your sister and Jackie were too busy in their own world to notice or so you thought.
“I’m sure it would be fun if Abby came with us!” you turn to Jackie with wide eyes who is smiling knowing what she’s doing.

Since Sarah and Jackie went to the reptile exhibit, you and Abby stayed on a bench admiring the open ocean exhibit. Reptiles weren’t really your thing. The blue hues fill from the water paint the walls. It feels like the fish are moving in slow motion. You're in awe of the two stingrays swimming together it almost looks like they are dancing.
Although, the sea creatures were beautiful, Abby couldn’t focus when she felt your arm touching hers, or your hands brushing against each other when you were walking next to each other earlier. If only you knew how it took everything in her not to reach for your hand. she has been this close to you before but today felt different. The peace she was feeling was something she wouldn’t be able to put into words.
“Do you think seals have spots?” Abby asked as suddenly.
“Hm?” You missed her question when you turned to look at her. you feel a little embarrassed by how she can easily throw you off.
She laughs, “Do you think seals have spots? Owen swears up and down he saw one spotted. He says saw one and I haven’t heard the end of it. Not saying I want to prove him wrong but…” She trails off.
“Oh, definitely. Have you considered researching your question? I mean you do know how to use your phone, right or do you need assistance?” You laugh at her.
Abby playfully rolls her eyes, “You think you’re so funny, huh? I personally would love to see this seal in person.” She shrugs.
You laugh but this time Abby fully sees you. She wishes she could freeze time and just look at you forever. To make you laugh and smile every day.
“Do other people think you’re funny?”
Abby looks towards the fish tank shaking her head but still smiling, “No, they don't.”
For a moment you didn’t let your nerves hold you back, so you squeeze her bicep, “Let me be the first to tell you that you are very funny.”
You lay your hand back down to your lap, but Abby reaches for it and holds your palm up. She traces the lines on your hand and finally decides that it’s now or never.
It felt like she was on Saturn, and it was only the two of you. Nothing else mattered. All of her nerves were gone. It felt like a dream, but the warmth of your hand reminded her it was real.
“You're staring,” you whisper.
“I like looking at you,” Abby whispered back smiling.
Abby raises her hand reaching for your cheek. Her thumb gently rubbing your soft skin; scared to break you. She drags down her thumb to your lower lip sending a shiver down your spine. The world slowed down for the two of you. Abby admired every detail on your face just in case this was the last time she was this close. She could smell the coconut perfume you spayed earlier. She knew what color your eyes were, but they were so much better up close. Her eyes flickers from your lips to your eyes. Abby felt herself leaning towards you as if it was the most natural thing.
“Oh, are we interrupting something?” Jackie asked smiling.
Out of fear, Abby dropped your hand and pulled away from you. “N-no,” she stands up quickly and walks in front of you away from the group. Luckily, your sister didn’t see since she was walking a bit behind Jackie. The rest of your time at the aquarium Abby avoids looking at you after that. It's all gone.

The car ride home was filled with tension. Abby had barely said a word to anyone. You sat in front while she drove back to your house staring at the raindrops that filled the window. Summer might be your favorite season, but hurricane season makes you wish it was over already.
You finally got the confidence to look at the blonde next to you and see nothing but an emotionless face. Her eyes aren’t the same blue you saw earlier. They look empty. Abby must have felt you staring because she sighed and made sure you heard it.
Your brain replays what happened earlier over and over like a record player. There was never a moment where Abby looked at you the way she did right now.
After what felt like hours, she drove into the driveway of your house. Your sister and Jackie quickly got out of the car leaving you alone with Abby. You felt a knot in your stomach and don’t feel words come out when you open your mouth. Out of habit you anxiously pick the skin on your fingers.
“Wanna come in? I think we’re going to order some pizza. Sarah always orders way too much food for us to finish,” you ask trying to break the tension.
Abby clears her throat, “Uh, I can’t tonight. rain check? I’m pretty tired it was a long day.” Her eyes never met yours since you were at the aquarium. You missed her blue eyes filled with love. Now you couldn’t tell what she was feeling.
“Oh sure! We have the whole-.”
“I think it’s getting late don’t you think? I’m sure they’re waiting for you,” she interrupts. You hear the irritation in her voice and almost leave, but you needed to ask her why she changed her attitude in a matter of seconds. You really thought today was the day you’d finally tell her what your heart feels. How you much you find her funny and think she deserves to have someone love her.
“What changed, Abby? I know it wasn’t only in my head what happened earlier, or did I imagine it?”
Abby sighs and looks towards her fingers, “You didn’t imagine it, but I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to be together. We're just good friends and I don’t think it’s the best thing to do. I mean what will you sister think?”
Her heart beats for you but she could never admit it to you. She's watched you go from relationship to relationship to break up to break up. yet, she can’t get the words out to tell you.
You scoff, “Just good friends, huh? you’re so full of shit, Abigail. I mean you were there! was I the only one who felt the feeling?”
“What feeling,” Abby asked confused.
“You know! the feeling! The feeling you get before you kiss someone for the first time. The excitement, anticipation, and butterflies in your stomach. The way your heart flutters when you finally kiss the girl you love!” You were talking so fast and just ranting now that you didn’t even notice you confessed your feelings to her.
“Wait what?” Abby was shocked but knew she shouldn’t be. She was there and so were you.
“Honestly, I don’t know why I’m here explaining this to you and expecting you to understand. Just next time, don’t look into a girl’s eyes and say you like looking at her if you’re planning to be an ass.” You open the car door and start running to your front door without getting soaked by the rain.
It took Abby two seconds to finally realize the girl of her dreams is running away from her. Abby ran out of her car leaving the door open without a care.
“Do you really want to know how I feel?!” she yelled out.
“I’ve never loved anyone like you! I’ve never felt so much peace before in my life! Everything about you consumes my being it’s frightening. This love I feel for you is so beautiful yet so scary. If choosing you means that I am losing your sister as a friend, then fine!”
You felt like your heart was beating so hard as you stared at Abby trying to process everything.
“And you couldn’t say all of that in the car, Abigail!? I have water in my shoes, I’m cold, and we-.”
Abby grabs you with both of her hands and kisses you. It takes you a couple seconds to process and kiss her back. Your eyes fluttered closed and you felt everything happening all at once. Her lips are softer than you imagined and so familiar. Your hands move to her braid making her moan into the kiss and letting you slip your tongue inside. She wrapped her arm around your waist bringing you closer to her.
“Wow…” you were breathless with your eyes still closed. When you finally opened them, Abby was smiling and looking into your eyes. She leans in again and whispers, “Can I do that again?”

A Question Best Left Unanswered
Okay so this one kinda got away from me and I had a grand old time with it. It's so silly and stupid but it brought me joy.
Anyways, have some more Summoned!König. This time featuring relationship angst and questions about anatomy.

A Question Best Left Unanswered
You hung your head in shame as you hung up the phone. What a disaster that last call had been.
The entire hour-long phonecall you’d just had with your parents had just ended up with them berating you for a good forty-five minutes before they gave up on trying to reach you. First your father had shamed you for ruining the family name, then your mother cried that she didn’t know where she went wrong with you. All those years of preparing you to be a summoner, only for you to turn out to be a miserable failure.
By the end, you’d just barely been able to hold back your tears. Once you hung up the phone, they fell freely down your cheeks as you hurriedly scurried to your room.
Of course, it couldn’t be so simple because your friend had just turned the corner as you reached your door.
“Hey!” she called with a wave, only to retract it nervously when you turned to face her, “woah. Are you okay?”
You nodded but before you could leave, your friend clasped a hand on your shoulder.
“You’re not okay,” she said grimly, “do you want to get something from the caf?”
You hesitated. Normally, you wouldn’t be willing to eat anything until dinner came around, but the call with your parents sat wrong in your stomach. It wasn’t much, but maybe a bite to eat would help.
“Sure,” you conceded, “let’s go.”
---
With a plate of crackers and fruit in front of you, the most the chefs on base would give you, you broke down and told your friend about the call.
“Your parents suck,” your friend spat, “like, who does that? I just can’t believe anyone would say that, especially not to their own kid.”
“They’re not usually that bad,” you weakly tried to defend them, but today your heart just wasn’t in it.
“Are you sure?” your friend asked as they took a bite of their veggie sandwich.
You sighed heavily.
“I just wish they would as least pretend to be proud of me,” you stirred your drink with your straw slowly, “I mean, I didn’t ask to be born like this. Why is it my fault that I can’t control my summon? He’s literally an avatar. An avatar. Those are like, the hardest summons to try to control.”
“Actually I think a legend might be,” your friend interjected, food spitting out their mouth as they spoke, “or maybe an immortal. I don’t think anyone’s managed to control a god before…”
“Okay yeah sure but it doesn't change the fact that he’s an avatar. Of chaos,” you wiped the chewed up spittle off your sleeves with a brush of your hand, “and I’m, well, you know, me. There’s no way I can handle König.”
“His name is König?” your friend asked.
“Yeah,” you took a sip of your drink, “he’s pretty nice honestly. Last week he got me my stuffed animals and the game boy I lost from my old home.”
Your friend looked at you with wide, unblinking eyes. Their jaw dropped to their chest for a moment before they were able to gather their composure.
“No fucking way,” she muttered.
“What?” you snorted, “aren’t all summons like that?”
Your friend shook her head hard enough to make you worry her neck would snap.
“No? I don’t even know my fire imp’s name, or my water sprite. They’re just my summons,” your friend explained, “most of the time they just tolerate me because they can’t kill me.”
“Don’t you form bonds with them?” you asked, now curious.
“Nope,” your friend snorted, “my water imp sprite tried to drown me when I first summoned it. Most summons try to kill their summoners as soon as they figure out that they’re not in the other realm.”
“König’s never hurt me,” you admitted.
“Never? Has he ever tried to?” your friend leaned back with an awestruck expression.
“Not once,” you confided.
“So you’re not the one that made König your mate?” your friend put together slowly, “König made you his mate!?”
You grimaced and leaned back from her, “Pretty much.”
Your friend whistled, “No fuckin’ shot. I can’t believe you bagged an avatar of chaos. Like, you realize how insane that sounds, right?”
You blinked. You hadn’t really thought about it that way. You’d always just seen it as König sparing your life, but the thought that somehow you were the one to seduce an avatar of chaos brought you a spark of joy.
“I guess you’re right,” you agreed timidly, “I just thought that he was lonely.”
Your friend snorted, “I mean probably, yeah, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he chose you as a mate,” she thought for a moment, took a bite of her sandwich and then asked, “wait, so if you’re a human and he’s an avatar, what will your kids look like?”
You flushed and turned to hide your face, but your friend was quicker.
“Wait, have you actually thought about that?” she teased you lightly.
“I mean, we’ve never actually… You know… We’re not really a couple,” you admitted.
“So you’re not banging him?” your friend raised an eyebrow.
“No?” you gasped, horrified by your friend’s suggestions, “I barely even know him!”
“But like,” your friend pressed their lips into a line. She studied you carefully before she finally asked, “Aren’t you curious?”
“About what? Fucking him?” you raised your eyebrows at the suggestion.
“I mean yeah, but like…” your friend leaned in close again, “what does he even look like?”
“I…” you paused, “I actually don’t know.”
Your friend took a bite of her salad before pointing her fork at you, “We need to fix that.”
“We!?”
“Well now I’m curious,” your friend shrugged, “so now it’s not an ish-you kind of problem, it’s an ish-us.”
“That doesn’t even make any sense,” you sputtered.
“Point is that I-sorry we need to figure this out. I mean,” your friend tossed you a sly look, “if you’re gonna have his kids you’re gonna have to find out one way or another.”
You were at a loss for words. All you could do was stare at the woman who sat across the table from you, almost as though she herself were an avatar of chaos.
Your friend scowled, “What?”
—
You slowed your pace to a crawl as you approached your dorm. It wasn’t that you weren’t eager to go to bed, rather the contrary, but the thought of facing König tonight made your cheeks burn bright red.
Ever since your conversation with your friend, you hadn’t been able to stop thinking about König. You already thought about König a bit too much for your own comfort, but you’d never thought about König like this before. It wasn’t like you were a prude by any means, but you’d never actually considered being with König like that before.
It’s not that it had never come up, you still remembered König trying to take you almost immediately after claiming you as his mate, but ever since he’d been nothing but respectful of the boundaries you'd since put up If anything, he was sometimes more respectful of your own boundaries than you were. Maybe he read your mind more than he let on, but you liked to think he was just thoughtful. After all, if you’d been around since the beginning of time, wouldn’t you be considerate and patient? You liked to think you’d be, but you had your doubts.
Thinking about König had you blushing as you walked down the hallway to your dorm. You could see the door all the way from here, only occasionally being obscured by a summoner retreating into their dorm for the evening. Occasionally, you could see a summon tagging behind them, most often looking rather irritated or depressed, something you’d never really noticed before.
Most summons were kept in the other realm unless they were actively being called upon. Some summoners like to keep their summons by their side, almost as though they were a beloved pet. You thought to your meditation teacher with his summon. Other times, you saw summoners struggling to manage their summons. In fact, the one class you excelled in was protecting yourself against your summon. Of course, the only reason you did so well was because König never tried to attack you in the first place. Your sergeant had been frustrated at first, but after further consideration decided to take it as your summon being too attached to you to consider attacking you. With this in mind, she gave you a bright and shining report. She then promptly told you to never take her class again. You were more than happy to comply.
Of course, König didn’t always help during your training. In fact, he seemed to prefer leaving you to your own devices whenever possible. He’d once explained that he gave you minimal support to encourage you to train harder to keep up with your peers, but you decidedly figured it was because he was too lazy to help. König only rolled his eyes when you told him that and decidedly vanished to the other realm for the rest of the night.
Your doorway grew closer and closer with each step you took. You wished that you could find a way to avoid going back to your dorm, but lights out drew nearer and nearer the longer your tried to put off entering your one personal area.
Finally, you reached your dorm. With a heavy sigh, you opened the door and stepped inside.
Surprisingly, König wasn’t there to greet you.
“König?” you called out carefully, but no reply came back to you.
You walked towards your desk.
“König?” you called again, but again there was no response.
Maybe he was occupied for the evening.
A sudden rush of relief overcame you. The absolute last thing you wanted to do was face König while your conversation with your friend was still fresh on your mind. That said, you had the strong suspicion that a night of good rest wouldn’t be enough to shake the thoughts from your head. With the way the question had fixed itself to your mind, you had the dreadful feeling that the only way to find some sort of satisfactory answer was to progress your relationship with König.
But were you ready to go that far? You’d shared a kiss, but since then, König had kept his distance. He was strangely considerate of the trepidation you felt whenever the thought of being in a romantic relationship with König crossed your mind. How would that even work? You were a mortal. Your life was but a blink of his eyes. And yet, despite your limited lifespan, he chose to spend this fraction of his life by your side. Was he amused by the whims of his new plaything? Was he simply toying with you until he chose to rend the soul from your mortal flesh? The thought made you nauseous.
But why did it make you nauseous? Why did the thought of König’s ultimate betrayal feel like a stone in the pit of your stomach? Why did your eyes sting and your throat clench when you thought of how little you matter to a being as grand and powerful as König?
You had an idea of what was behind the feelings, but you daren’t give it any room to breath, never mind grow within your mind’s garden. You’d instead stamp it out, coat it in salt and rip it from the earth like a weed. Of course, the roots went deeper than you could imagine.
You slumped into the plushest chair your company could buy in the corner of your room. It was worn, tired; it had seen many generations of new and upcoming summoners such as yourself. The thought gave way to an ache deep inside your chest.
You wiped your sleeves over the tears that flowed from your eyes. You didn’t consider yourself to be of the weeping sort, but since König had entered your life, he’d seemingly turned everything upside down, including how you operated in your day-to-day life. A part of you hated it, a louder part wished to take it all with open arms. You despised both parts for their respective tenacity.
You allowed yourself to curl up for what felt like forever before you managed to come to terms with your fears.
You would be nothing to him. You were a speck in his eye, if anything. You were naught but dust, and you would have to content yourself with such an existence. Now as to why König had taken such a shining to you, that was beyond your comprehension. If you had the mind of Aristotle, Diogenes, or Plato maybe you could have come to terms with your existence in relation to the greater world. Had you a mind of Camus, Cant or Descarte maybe you could content yourself with the meaning of your existence itself. But you had no such mind, now did you? You were weak and feeble, a summoner with all the potential one could hope for at your fingertips yet hindered by your own inability to understand the ethos of methods that had been passed on like the summoners passed before them.
You felt the tears subside briefly to allow you a moment to recover from the throes of your emotions. Unfortunately, just as you felt yourself wrangling your emotions back under your control, the pot lights flickered.
“No not now…” you groaned and curled further into the safety of the chair.
“Did I come at a bad time?” König crossed his arms as he stared at you from the centre of the room.
“Can you please go away?” you sighed as you turned away from him.
König hummed before stalking to your side, “I think that it would be wrong of me to abandon my mate when they’re in such a state.”
At the mention of ‘mate’, you groaned and ducked your head between your knees.
König paused, then drew away. He came back moments later to swath you in a warm blanket before he crouched in front of you.
“It seems something troubles you, summoner,” König droned as you drew the blankets around your form.
“I’m fine,” you spat bitterly.
König barked out a laugh before ruffling your hair affectionately, “You certainly are in quite a mood, aren’t you?”
“Just go away,” you grumbled.
König drummed his claws over his knee. His scales rippled in the crepuscular light that shone into your room, his onyx scales shining almost iridescent in the warm dying rays of sun.
“Must I read my mate’s mind to understand what troubles them so?”
You grumbled and ducked your head under the blanket.
König sighed. He stretched up with cracking joints, and you’d hoped he’d left until you felt him pull your blankets from your head. You tried to struggle against him, but he didn’t so much as budge while you writhed. With a sigh, you conceded and allowed him to pull the blankets to the side to see you properly.
“Well, summoner?”
“I just was thinking about us…” you admitted.
“Us? In what sense?” König asked, already fully aware of your answer.
“Like, we’re mates, right?” you tucked your nose to your knees, “but I don’t know why.”
König hummed, then drew you up into his arms. You struggled and spat, but he held you before he sat down on the sofa with a loud poomf as the air was punched out from the pillows.
“You don’t understand why I chose you,” König surmised quickly.
You didn’t dare meet his eyes as you nodded.
“Well,” König adjusted you so you sat upright in his lap, “I’d say it makes perfect sense.”
You stared at him blankly.
“That reaction of yours is exactly why it makes sense,” König explained, “a being of chaos is likely to tear you asunder. Maybe enslave you, maybe curse you for thousands of generations to come. It’s expected that something horrible would happen.”
“So you chose me because it was the random choice?” you asked.
“I chose you because I saw your potential,” König explained, “and, of course, you're right as what greater delight is there than to choose the opposite of the expected outcome? Why follow your expected order when I can tie you to my side for millennia to come?”
You scowled, “So you chose to be my mate because you thought it would be funny.”
König shook his head, “You could take it that way, but that would be unwise. Rather, I chose you as a mate because I saw your potential and wanted to see it through.
“You were set up to fail, you realize this?" König stared deep into your eyes, "the chalk you used to summon me was imbued to ensure that whatever was summoned would be more than you could ever hope to control. The patterns they gave you were far too complex for a beginner summoner. You were supposed to be torn apart.”
You froze in König’s arms.
“Yes, you were meant to die. But when I looked at you, marked for death by those envious of your potential,” König’s smirk was woven into his words, “I saw that potential of yours and I saw an opportunity. I saw a way to usurp the delicate balance of power this world has.”
“So I’m a pawn to you,” you felt the tears stinging behind your eyes again.
“Not in the slightest,” König chided you patiently, “I saw you for your potential and I saw someone who just needed a push. Someone who just needed someone to help them see their own worth. And that someone, dear summoner, was none other than myself.”
“That still makes me sound like a pawn,” you complained.
“Then I’ll tell you this: I chose you because I saw what we could become together,” König whispered into your ear, “I see you now, mind you. I see you and I am enthralled by you in all your strange and truly wonderful ways.
“I want you to listen carefully summoner, as this is a lesson that will be tattooed into your veins: I love you for you. I love you for who you’ve been, who you are, who you will be. I love you for all of you, completely and forever.”
You flushed brightly. Instead of replying, you simply tucked your face into yourself to avoid having to meet his eyes. Of course, the joy of being loved could only last so long in the shadow of a more pressing problem.
“I’m assuming forever is until I die,” you sighed.
“Yes? That’s what will happen, yes,” König told you plainly, “as it will happen to myself. We will die together.”
Your eyes snapped wide open as you whirled around to look him in the eyes.
“Calm yourself, summoner,” König huffed, “what makes you think that will be soon?”
“I mean, soon for you,” you muttered bitterly.
“Soon for me?” König chortled, “I don’t think that day will come anytime soon. You’re my mate summoner, you’ll be with me until we die.”
You stared at him, “So, in seventy years?”
König reeled back in shock, “Seventy years? That’s nothing! You’ll be with me for the rest of my natural life!”
You blinked.
“But…” you glared at him, “but that’s like… I’ll never get that old.”
“Summoner,” König drawled, "have you not considered that when mated to me, certain aspects of your life will change?”
Honestly, the thought hadn’t crossed your mind.
“No, you didn’t think that,” König concluded after looking into your eyes, “well let me be the one to inform you that your natural life has been extended exponentially to match mine. You’ll be with me until the bitter end, I’m afraid. Or at least, for as long as you’ll take me as your mate.”
“I mean, I’m pretty happy with you,” you admitted.
“I’d hope so,” König sniffed.
“Don’t be like that,” you huffed.
“Be like what, upset that you’d be anything other than infatuated with me?” König retorted.
“Infatuated?” you laughed, “that’s a lot to ask for, isn’t it?”
“Not when it’s already provided,” König booped your nose, much to your dismay.
“I’m not infatuated-what? Where are you getting that from!?” you snapped as König threw his head back with a gurgling laugh.
“I jest, summoner,” König gave you a light kiss from beneath his mask, feeling more like being pinched by something sharp than being kissed on the cheek. You pushed his face away which he only just allowed before hugging you close.
“Now, summoner,” König rubbed his cheek against yours, leaving behind a thin sheen of something that smelled strongly of König, “I can tell there is more on your mind.”
“No there isn’t,” you lied weakly.
“No? There’s nothing I can answer for you?” König trilled.
“Nope,” you turned your face away from him, “I know everything.”
“Not yet, summoner,” König laughed.
“And who are you to question my endless knowledge?” you huffed haughtily as you cast him a downright scathing side-eye.
“Oh, nobody important,” König lay back in the seat, “only the being that saw the creation of your universe and will live to see its death.”
You rolled your eyes, already over his ‘holier than thou’, or rather, ‘more worldly than thou’ attitude.
“So tell me summoner,” König’s hand wandered down your torso, “isn’t there more on your mind?”
You flushed scarlet. He really was determined to get to the bottom of this, wasn’t he? A part of you felt that he was only pushing you this way to further tease you, but you couldn’t help the genuine curiosity bubbling forth.
“I mean, maybe,” you conceded, “but it’s nothing important.”
“I would say otherwise,” König tucked your face into his clavicle.
“Well,” you started, emboldened now that you didn’t have to look your mate in the eyes, “I was talking with a friend about you.”
“Were you now?” König drawled.
“And uh, we were talking about how you chose to be my mate, not the other way around. So, we got to talking about it, and…” you trailed off shamefully.
“Talking about us being mates? I can imagine a great myriad of topics can come forth from such a nebulous beginning,” König brushed his claws through your hair with surprisingly tender care.
“Well, we were kinda talking about what it would be like for you to fuck me?” you squeaked out.
König paused in his ministrations, seemingly shocked by your forwardness.
“I’d hope it would be pleasurable for both of us,” König stated, still befuddled by your answer.
“Well that’s what we started talking about, and then it went on to what your dick looked like?” if you didn’t think your voice could go any higher, you’d be poorly mistaken.
König slowly leaned back to be able to look you in the eyes.
His voice sounded like it was coming from deep under the ocean, “Excuse me?”
If you weren’t so embarrassed you might have laughed at your ability to shock a being older than time itself. Evidently, though König could see the ways time shifted and cross, was able to see all the possible outcomes of an event, even he couldn’t predict just how horny you were.
“I mean, it’s just like,” you shrugged, “if I wanna have your kid I’d probably have to figure it out at some point, right?”
König nodded mutely.
“Do you…” you looked him dead in the eyes, “do you even have a dick?”
König blinked.
“Yes?” he stared back at you, “I mean, what did you expect?”
You shrugged, “Maybe a cloaca?”
You could see the furious horror that washed over König’s face despite the mask.
“I do not have a cloaca and whoever told you that is a cheat, a fiend and a liar!”
Evidently someone had history.
“It’s a reasonable thing to think!” you protested, “I mean, you’ve got this whole bird-y ocean thing going on with you? It’s a vibe, sure, but it doesn’t give me much room to work with.”
"I have a what-You know what, nevermind, I don’t want to hear it,” König groaned as he rolled his eyes, “but yes I do in fact have a ‘dick’ as you refer to it. I don’t know why you’d think-”
“It was the water bird thing!”
“Why you’d think my 'vibe' might change that. I am… Wait, I don’t actually know what your species looks like,” König dropped his hands, “one moment please summoner,” he placed a thumb against your forehead, and immediately you felt your entire body go numb. After only a minute had passed, König withdrew his thumb, and with it came the return of your senses.
“Well that was informative,” König grumbled, “but not particularly helpful. I am realizing that I’m… Different from your species. Significantly so.”
“That’s really not helpful,” you flushed, “I mean, you could just show me…”
König pressed another pinching kiss to your forehead, “My mate, I think we should wait until you’re ready to go that far.”
You squirmed in his lap, “I mean, it can’t be that bad…”
“You can wait,” König tucked you back to his chest, “I assure you it won’t change for another thousand years.”
“Wait, it changes?” you spluttered.
“I reserve my right to remain silent,” König replied.
“You sure don’t use it often,” you grumbled only to find your lips pressed firmly together into a line. Despite your best efforts, your lips remained stuck in place.
König sighed and settled back into the sofa, “Much better.”
You were going to kill him, you swore by it.

omg… ur dr ratio idea… i’m eating up that angst,,
just thinking about how it’ll cause a rift in their relationship. he feels so inferior to his lover. to watch someone else (who might not even be trying to pursue knowledge) gain acknowledgment from nous, when all of his life he’s been vying for a place in the genius society, makes him feel so conflicted.
he loves them dearly, but he can’t help what he’s feeling. it’s soul-crushing, and he can no longer look at them the same way. their words of comfort are lost on him when he knows that they’ve got potential to join the genius society.
ooh but what could impact him even more is the fact that his lover refuses. they don’t want to take a part in the genius society. 2 ways:
rejecting because they really aren’t bothered about the pursuit of knowledge, nor are they bothered about nous’ acknowledgment. this infuriates ratio further — they had a chance to meet nous, ask a question, be part of the elites — and yet they refused? he’s baffled, irritated and just heavily conflicted on how to feel about you.
rejecting because they feel it’s unfair to ratio, but perhaps to make a point? they explain to ratio that value in oneself doesn’t need to proved to another, that his knowledge is very much enough and maybe comfort him — show that his achievements have merit, tell him that they don’t care about anyone else’s acknowledgement but his. very fluffy. he can react in either way — touched that his lover would refuse something so great, just for him, or be infuriated and baffled like the idea above.
maybe an argument ensues. and again, that argument could end in two ways, depending if you want it to be angsty or not hehe— dr. ratio is angry at first, but melts into your arms, so surprisingly vulnerable as he tells you of his sorrows and insecurities of not being able to join the society. OR it’s a REALLY big argument… and angst ensues….
anyway yeah, good idea. great idea. i love angst so much.
Yeees Ratio will have mixed emotions after this incident. What do you mean they don't want to join the genius society? This is a unique opportunity that only an idiot would refuse. It seems to me that he really believed then that the genius Society was something wonderful that only the best deserved.
The moment Ratio learns of [name]'s decision to refuse the invitation, he becomes even more disappointed. Even words of love will not calm him down. And because of the accumulated disappointment, he will flare up and a quarrel will begin, several offensive words will fly towards his lover, and before he realizes what he said, [name] leaves him alone. This will increase the distance between them. But Veritas will remain a stubborn jerk who will never be the first to apologize. In the end, everything could turn into a breakup, because [name] will no longer be able to tolerate Ratio’s behavior, which at that moment resembled an offended child.
Or things could end more smoothly. Ratio decides to give in to his feelings, he sees that [name] sincerely loves him, an understanding comes to him, biggest loss for him is not the rejection of the genius society and not how Nous ignores him, but his beloved, who always supported and inspired him. And when Ratio hears that [name] refused his invitation, he will not be able to contain his emotions, leading to a touching moment between the two of them. However, he will be left with a little disappointment and self-doubt, but at least the [name] is there to help him deal with it.
It's quite difficult to choose between these two options, I love angst and fluff omg

Ziva x teen!reader - just soldiers
So teen reader has grown up in a rough family. It was basically run like a military; get up at the crack of dawn, do all these military base training even when they were like a child. Have a strict schedule to follow every day that they become a robot basically and any sense of being a normal teen thrown out the window. Teen reader is on a field trip with their class to NCIS for their history class talking about laws and every thing. They are in the bullpen where Ziva and the team is. Ziva takes notice to the teen reader and how they seem distant from all the other kids. Maybe something happens and it triggers teen reader to go into that military mindset (like a loud noise or arguing or whatever you want). Ziva knows a thing or two about the military mindset because of her dad and helps teen reader calm down and come back to reality. - @offspringoflordwinter 💜
TW: mentions of abusive and controlling parent
Standing in the middle of the floor with the rest of your class, you had your hands clasped behind your back as you just observed everybody else.
You had no real interest in this trip, you had no interest in becoming an NCIS agent, but your father said he would be busy today, and decided this trip would be a good way to keep you occupied.
“Are you interested in forensics?” A woman asked.
You glanced up at her but said nothing.
“I’m agent Ziva David, what’s your name?”
You turned away, going back to what you were doing.
One of the other students looked over, snickering a little bit.
“They won’t tell you anything, (Y/N)s weird. Never talks. A freak.”
Ziva looked back at you, then she walked back over to her boss who was also stood there watching you.
“Anything?”
“No, another student mentioned their name is (Y/N), but that’s it.”
Gibbs slowly nodded his head.
“I spoke to the teacher, she said she didn’t know much about (Y/N), calm student, occasionally had issues with being suspended for fighting.”
“Gibbs I recognise that look.”
“I know you do…”
You grew disinterested in standing there, and you made your way back into hallway, standing by the wall.
You ran over your daily routine in your head, checking to make sure you knew what you had to do.
Everybody made their way back up to the bullpen, and you stood to the back of your class.
Pulling up the sleeve to your shirt, you have a look at the time, and walked over to your teacher.
“Ma’am, I need to have my lunch now.”
“Yes, of course. Do you mind eating up here?”
“No ma’am.”
She nodded, and you sat down against one of the desks, opening up your lunch box so you could eat.
You have ten minutes to eat your lunch, then you had to do your afternoon work out, then finish your homework just after.
Usually you would then have afternoon classes, but since you were here that went out the window meaning that you had a few free hours.
After finishing your lunch, you stood up, walking back over to your teacher.
“Ma’am, I need to do my training.”
“Oh, is there any way you can skip it for today? I know you use the gym but we don’t have that here.”
“No ma’am. I have to follow my schedule.”
She sighed heavily, gesturing for you to follow her and you did.
She spoke to Gibbs, who was looking at you the whole time.
“We have an empty interrogation room you can use, we can’t give you entrance to the gym.”
“That’s fine sir, I can work around that.”
He nodded.
“Ziva will take you.”
“Thank you.”
You followed behind Ziva, and you rolled your sleeves up, getting ready to start your work out.
“How many push ups can you do?”
“A good solider must be able to do at least 50 push in a row. If you cannot then you are weak. Father does not tolerate weakness.”
Ziva nodded her head, leaning back against the wall.
“What does your father consider weakness?”
“Being sick is weak, crying is weak, being in pain is weak. A strong person must be able to go beyond their limits and not complain.”
Ziva listened to you carefully.
“Are you a solider?”
“Yes ma’am.”
You finished your push ups, and started doing some sit ups.
“How long have you been a soldier for?”
“My whole life.”
She nodded again.
There was no sign of emotion in your voice, nothing on your face.
You were the perfect soldier, just like she was.
Designed to follow your orders without complaint, to not be able to think for yourself, no thought about being a teenager, partying, drinking, all the normal things teenagers do.
You stood up, and rolled your shoulders slightly, turning around to face Ziva with your hands clasped behind your back.
“Do you have any friends?”
“Soldiers have no need for friends, they are useless and only weigh down the missions.”
“What is your mission?”
“I have no assignment right now.”
“But you have had one?”
“No. I do not receive my first mission until my 18th year.”
You studied Ziva quietly for a moment, looking her up and down.
“You are like me.”
“Yes.”
You looked at your watch, rolling your sleeves back down, doing them back up and you straightened your shirt.
“Why did you abandon your mission?”
“Because there is more to life than being a soldier for somebody else.”
“This place has made you weak.”
“Is that what you think?”
You nodded your head, leaving through the open door.
You walked back to your class with Ziva walking alongside you.
She didn’t say anything else, and neither did you you just rejoined your class, standing to the side of them all.
You were just watching when a loud bang from nearby made you spin around, a few of your fellow students began laughing loudly.
But you had jumped into fight mode, so when one of them rushed to run past you, you grabbed his arm, throwing him to the ground as you pinned him.
“(Y/N) let him go!” Your teacher yelled.
You said nothing, pinning your fellow student further into the ground.
You felt a hand on your shoulder and you spun around, standing up you grabbed the man by the arm, spinning around with so much force your threw him to the ground as well.
“(Y/N), look at me that’s an order.”
You snapped your head to Ziva.
You seemed to recognise her as some sort of authority, and you stood up straight, clasping your hands behind your back.
But you were still on guard.
“You cannot attack your fellow students.”
“He is a threat.”
“He was just playing a joke on you.” Gibbs said.
There was another loud noise, and you dissociated from them all, spinning around you charged at the person responsible for it.
He was pulled away from you, and you stood there, fists in the air ready to attack anybody that came after you.
Ziva walked over, hands raised in the air.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay.”
You took a swing for her and she dodged it, moving to the side and you followed her.
Ziva was raised like you, she knew how to predict an attack and how to avoid it.
She grabbed your wrist, and you swung yourself back, sweeping your leg under hers to get yourself free and you crouched down, grabbing her shirt.
You raised tour fist and tried to punch her, but she caught it, eyes locked with hers.
“There is no threat to you here…” she whispered.
“Everybody is a threat.”
“No. No they’re not. You’re safe, either federal agents and teenagers whom I’m sure cannot even begin to match your level.”
She offered the smallest of smiles.
“There is no threat.”
She slowly sat up, placing a hand on your shoulder.
“You need to breathe. Focus. Breath.”
You went to pull you hand away.
“Don’t. I am older than you and I have had far more training.” She warned.
You nodded.
You were a soldier yes, but your father told you not to confront somebody who you knew you wouldn’t have a chance to attack.
Not yet anyway.
So you sat down, crossing your legs as you took a small breath.
“Focus on me, nobody else.”
Ziva let go of you, but she was ready to jump into action in case you went to attack somebody else.
You slowly breathed in and out, eyes locked with hers.
“Ignore everybody else, they’re not important.”
You nodded your head.
Ziva carried on leading you through the breathing you had to do in order to calm yourself down.
“Come with me.”
Ziva stood up, and you followed after her, letting her take you to a conference room where you were able to freely pace back and forth.
Ziva stood by the door so you couldn’t run away.
She realised that you were a danger, your solider mindset was going to put somebody in danger, you were going to seriously hurt somebody or worse.
You didn’t necessarily know that you were going to hurt somebody, but it was still a factor.
You wouldn’t care if you did either, you wouldn’t think twice about it if it meant protecting yourself.
At this rate Ziva was sure you were going to land yourself in prison before you even reached being an adult.
“I can help you.”
You paused pacing, turning your attention to her.
“I do not need help.”
“You do, because you shouldn’t have to live like this. You are not a soldier, you are a child.”
“I am a soldier, that is what I will always be.”
Ziva shook her head.
“No, you can be so much more.”
“No.”
She sighed.
“Unfortunately we cannot let you return home.”
“Okay.”
You sat down in a chair, placing your hands on the table.
You showed no objection, and that’s where your father had messed up.
You didn’t care if he was taken away from you, you had no attachment to him, or anybody else for that matter.
You would carry on.
Just like this.
Until it killed you.
Just like she used to.
And she wasn’t about to let that happen to you

Mockingjay - Part 4
Hi guys!
This is the fourth part of Mockinjay, a.k.a the crossover between The Hunger Games and the Woso world x)
Please enjoy this one ♥
Chapter Before
Ona had trouble sleeping that night, after her talk with Alexia. She concentrated on Lucy to fall asleep, but her dreams were full of her family struggling in different ways with the Capitol because of her.
“You look awful” Tony comments when she comes into the diner room to eat her breakfast.
“Shut up your fucking mouth” Ona groans in answer.
He seems surprised by her answer and frowns, but Ona doesn’t even look at him. She hadn’t forgotten who told Alexia that she was leaving at night. Ona considers herself like a chill girl, but she doesn’t tolerate cheating or betrayal in any way.
Focused on her choice of meal, she doesn’t see Alexia and Leila’s exchange of gaze, or Alexia’s smile. She finally chooses a toast with eggs and bacon, which she almost doesn’t touch. She doesn’t talk either and when it’s time to get ready to go to training, Alexia takes her by her arm to talk to her without eavesdroppers.
“What the matter, Ona?” Alexia asks softly.
Ona raises an eyebrow, but finally sighs and lets herself go against the table when she realizes that Alexia’s question is genuine.
“I had an awful night” she explains. “I had nightmares all night long.”
“About what?”
“My family, getting hurt because of me.”
Alexia sighs softly at her turn, looking at Ona while answering. She feels a little guilty to be the reason for Ona’s nightmares, but she’s glad that Ona admits to her what is bothering her.
“Nothing will happen to them, Ona, I swear. I won’t tell anyone; I even haven’t told Leila.”
“You, maybe. What about Tony?”
Alexia bites her lips thoughtfully.
“I think… Maybe he was upset that you talked with someone else. But I don’t think he will put you in danger.”
Ona stays silent for some seconds, looking deep in Alexia’s eyes. The blonde seems to believe in her words, and she never lied to Ona in any way. She’s probably telling the truth.
“Can you make me a promise?”
“What kind?” Alexia answers cautiously.
“Can you promise me to keep an eye on them? Even… You know. After.”
“Yeah. I can promise that.”
Ona nods softly, suddenly very interested by looking at her shoes. She heard Alexia talking about the Capitol and if something bad happens during the Games, she doesn’t want her family to suffer.
“Will you keep seeing Lucy?”
Ona sighs again and scratches the back of her neck.
“We can’t, obviously. But… I’ll have to tell her and… I don’t know. I’ll miss it. She’s really nice and it was pleasant to have something else to think about.”
“Are you in love?”
Ona arches an eyebrow and looks at Alexia. They never talked about love before, or at least they never pronounce that word. Alexia talked to Ona about her girlfriend and Ona talked about Jana, but that’s all.
“I don’t know. I really like her. She’s… special, you know?”
Alexia nods softly, seeming to think quickly about what Ona just said. The brunette doesn’t know what Alexia is thinking about, so she just waits, looking at the blonde expectantly.
“You’re not allowed to see her at night, it doesn’t mean you can’t do it during the day” Alexia points out.
“And where are we supposed to go?”
Ona isn’t able to hide her skepticism. It seems to amuse Alexia though and the blonde shrugs.
“There are some unused rooms around here. I’ll let you know which ones. But now I have to take you to training, we are going to be late.”
********
Lucy realizes that Ona is bothered by something as soon as the younger girl enters the room. They share a look like they usually do, but Ona doesn’t go to sit next to Tony. She goes next to Teagan, the young boy from the 11 and her partner, a girl around Ona’s age.
Today was weapon training and they had to choose some days before which one they preferred. Ona chose the crossbow and the archery; she knows that she doesn’t stand a chance in physical fights.
At some point during training, Ona feels someone softly touching her fingers with their own. The sparkles she feels could have been enough to tell her who it is. She turns around to see Lucy who is looking straight in front of her.
“What happened?”
Ona doesn’t ask how Lucy knows that there is something strange. They know each other pretty well now, even if they haven’t known each other for very long. But they got along pretty quickly and pretty well.
“Alexia knows about our night meetings. Tony saw me leaving one time.”
Ona isn’t looking at Lucy, but she still can see her face drop from the corner of her eyes. Still not looking at her, Ona keeps talking, trying to move her lips as little as possible.
“She won’t say anything to anyone. But I have to be careful because of Tony.”
Lucy nods softly, her jaw seeming particularly tense. People around them aren’t looking at Lucy and Ona, and Tony is in another part of the room, training with his sword.
“So, no more meeting” Lucy whispers.
“We still can see each other during the day… If you want to, of course.”
Ona isn’t sure about herself when she says that, after all, maybe Lucy only sees those encounters just to pass time and have fun. It maybe doesn’t have the same importance for her as for Ona.
“Of course. Find me in the room three doors after the garden, after dinner. We will still have some time together.”
Ona nods and feels like she can breathe better again. Lucy still wants to meet you and she’s even the one who proposed something else. The older girl rubs Ona’s fingers with theirs one more time before going into action by taking a sword and begins some exercises.
********
After dinner, Ona managed to avoid Tony and go out of their quarter to find Lucy. It’s a little bit more chill to walk on the floors, knowing she isn’t breaking any rules. She just hopes not to see anyone. Her walk to the room is shorter than the one Lucy has to take though.
“Lucy?” Ona calls softly when she enters the room.
The neon light that illuminates the room is flashing creepily, far away from the stars they used to observe. The room seems cold, white walls, some empty boxes scattered around the room. Ona even feels cold here.
She wraps her arms around herself, leaning against the wall. Lucy isn’t here but on the other hand they haven’t said a special hour, just after dinner. Maybe Lucy eats a little later than her.
She’s lost in her thoughts when the door opens again, and Ona is relieved to see that it’s in fact Lucy. Lucy smiles at Ona and without really thinking, she goes for a hug. She realizes only when she feels Ona freeze in her arms what she just does.
“Oh sorry” she mumbles, trying to get out of the hug. “I just –“
“Don’t.”
Ona is whispering too and now that the surprise is passed, she melts in Lucy’s arms, passing theirs around the girl’s waist. Ona can feel Lucy relax too, her body getting much less tense.
“I’m just relieved that we still can meet each other” Lucy finally says.
“Me too”
Ona could stay like this forever. She never felt so comfortable and safe that right now. Lucy seems to think the same, because she’s not letting Ona go either.
“So, what happened with Tony?” Lucy asks after some time like this.
Ona sighs softly, detaching her face from Lucy’s shoulder. She is still very mad at Tony; she knows that she’s lucky that Alexia is on her side. The blonde literally saved her ass yesterday, a lot of people would have told the Capitol.
“I don’t know. He told Alexia yesterday that he saw me leaving the quarter. She was waiting for me when I went back to my room yesterday. She was very mad at first, but we talked again this morning, and she promised not to tell anybody else. And that she will take care of.”
“That guy is so weird, honestly” Lucy groans.
She lets Ona go and Ona almost immediately feels cold again. But she doesn’t say anything, looking at Lucy pacing the room.
“You told me that it was obvious that Delcan has a thing on me, but Tony is something else. He’s acting like he has all the rights on you.”
“Alexia told me to be careful with him” Ona admits. “She thinks he might spy on me.”
Lucy groans once again and keeps walking around the room, seeming to think in a very quick way. She’s frowning and seems a little bit upset too. It doesn’t look good from Ona’s perspective.
“I told Alexia I left to see you, but Tony doesn’t know” Ona says again, biting her lips. “She won’t say a thing about you either. But if it’s too much for you… We still can stop seeing each other like this.”
Her voice is hardly louder than a whisper at the end of his sentence. She doesn’t want this, of course. But she has to respect Lucy’s opinion. Lucy stops suddenly, raising her gaze at Ona.
“Do you want to stop?”
Ona shakes her head to say no. She doesn’t trust her voice to say that.
“I don’t either. Is this why you didn’t sleep well?”
“No I… I had nightmares.”
“Do you want to talk about it?”
Ona bites her lip once again, looking at Lucy thoughtfully. The older girl seems to be genuinely interested in Ona’s answer.
“No, I had nightmares about my family and the Capitol” Ona finally answers. “Alexia said the night before that the Capitol could go after them even after my death. It kind of stuck in my head.”
“I’m sorry” Lucy sighs softly. “I wish I could protect you from all of this”
Ona is surprised by Lucy’s sentence, looking once again deeply into her (beautiful) green eyes. But once again, she can read into it that Lucy is telling the truth. The idea of running away with Lucy is more than tempting, but she knows what could happen if they do that.
“You already make my life way more comfy and easier here. I couldn’t ask for more”
She has red cheeks when Lucy smiles happily at her. She has such a beautiful smile too, Ona thinks.
Ona feels her heart racing when Lucy, who stopped walking just to be standing in front of her again, slowly raises her hand to put back one of Ona’s locks behind her ear. Ona can feel her skin burning where Lucy touched her.
“Me neither” Lucy whispers.
They keep looking at each other, the air around them thick, but in a good way. Everything around is forgotten, and it really feels good for both of them. Ona even forgets her usual thoughts, like what in the world Lucy is finding good for her in their relationship.
“Can I make a confession?”
Lucy is still whispering when she talks again, her hand now on Ona’s arm. The shorter girl nods, curious to know what Lucy might have to say.
“I’m jealous, sometimes. When I see the bond you have with Alexia, or with the thoughts that you are having so much time with Tony and that we have to fight to see each other.”
Ona smiles, tilting softly her head on the side. She didn’t expect anything, but not something like this either.
“I’m not spending any time with Tony. And as for Alexia, she really is just like my big sister. I couldn’t ask for a better Mentor, really” Ona explains. “For the record, I’d rather spend time with you.”
“Yeah?”
Ona smiles and nods softly, still looking at Lucy. It seems to reassure the girl, who smiles back and lets go of Ona’s arm. Lucy looks around them then, just like she looks at the room really for the first time.
“How did you know about that room?” Ona asks curiously.
“I looked around, the first day we were here. I got bored in my quarter and it was still early. It’s sad that we can’t look at the stars anymore, though.”
“It is” Ona nods. “I love when you explain to me stars and constellations.”
Lucy smiles and Ona tries to take her mind somewhere else than the fact that they will probably never do that again. They never talk about the Games but in Ona’s mind she imagines the arena just like it was last year. It was a kind of desert with very difficulty finding water. Some of the contestants literally died from thirst.
********
Ona frowns, looking around her. All the tributes were asked to come into this room now and were waiting for someone to give them a clue about what was happening. Alexia couldn’t say anything to Ona, but she promised that it was nothing to be scared about.
One from the official team finally comes inside the room and arches an eyebrow to ask for silence. He was a nice man, giving you the feeling that he only had an easy life. His bright blue suits horribly swear with his dark pink hair, though.
“Right. Thanks for coming on time. I’m going to be quick. This year we decided to be merciful with you and give you a last phone call to someone from your District. Please just write the name of the person on the sheet and we will do what is necessary to call them. Any questions?”
Ona blows some air from her nose. Lucy was right after all. Several hands raised, one of them being from Teagan.
“My parents don’t have a phone” he blushes shyly.
“No problem. Some peacekeepers are in the Districts to be sure that it could work.”
The idea isn’t very great for Ona, who bites her lip slowly. She hasn’t really thought about it again, but calling Aitana seems to be her best option. So, she writes her name when the sheets are given to her.
“You’re not calling your parents or Joan?” Tony asks when she gives him the sheets.
“No. I couldn’t choose between the three”
Tony nods in understanding and when Ona looks in the room again, she crosses Lucy’s gaze. They are sitting in the Districts’ order, so they can’t really be next to each other. And like they decided early in the beginning of their… situationship, they won’t let anyone know about it. They could become a target very quickly. They still look at each other for some seconds, before Lucy turns her eyes on Declan when he talks.
After that, they have to wait for some time. The official told them that it won’t be filmed but that the other Tributes will stay in the room. Ona doesn’t know what she prefers, to be honest. She totally made a good choice about the person she wants to call.
For that too, they did it in the Districts order. Ona zones out a lot during the first calls, they only have ten minutes each, but it still takes almost two hours before her turns. She’s focused on Lucy when she calls her brother, a little bit surprised to hear how formal the conversation looks. She mentally notes to ask Lucy about it later today.
Ona talks a little with the boy and the girl from the 9 to pass time. She learns about their life here, how both of their parents are farmers, even if one of them is only an employee and the other an owner of a farm. They are both 16 and grow up together. Ona doesn’t know if it’s a good idea to discuss with people she will have to fight in several days but does it anyway.
Tony calls his father before she finally is able to make her call too. She looks briefly at the man who gives her the phone before putting it in her ear.
It bip three times before someone answers.
“Hello?”
“Aita?” Ona asks softly, playing with the telephone wire she wraps around her finger.
“Oh my god. I’m so happy to hear from you! I can’t believe you chose me to talk to, but I’m really really glad.”
“How are you? How is everyone?” Ona smiles.
“I’m fine. Your parents are fine too, so is your brother. I go visit them everyday”
“That’s great!” Ona breaths softly.
She’s glad her best friend still looks for her parents. Aitana is a single kid, her parents get her very late in their life. Aitana’s mother was supposed to be infertile and finally gave birth to Aitana.
“I was with them when this man came to tell us about the call.”
“Aren’t my parents or Joan mad? I couldn’t choose between them three and honestly, I was scared that hearing their voices would just… destroy me, you know?”
“They aren’t mad, and I’ll explain to them why you chose me, don’t worry Oni. Really. They are proud of you and the way you are taking things. We saw you on TV last night, you were amazing.”
“Thank you” Ona smiles. “I’ll try everything to make them proud as long as I can, I swear.”
“We all know that.”
Ona smiles once again and looks at the clock to realize that she doesn’t have a lot of time left.
“I don’t have a lot of time left, I need to talk to you about something” Ona says, her tone a little more urgent.
“Okay?”
She can hear the surprise and the curiosity in Aitana’s voice. It makes her smile once again.
“You and my brother. You both have been in love with each other for years, I know it for a lot of years already.”
“What? … No –“ Aitana begins but I soon cut to Ona.
“No, please. We don’t have time for you to pretend that you are not in love. If you both want that, just go for it, please. You deserve happiness and there is no one else I would want for my brother.”
There are some seconds of silence, during which Aitana seems to digest the information, or the fact that Ona knew all those years.
“I know you did it to be respectful toward me, but please. We don’t have unlimited time; you have to enjoy it.”
“Okay, I will” Aitana finally whispers.
Ona nods and smiles, even if Aitana can’t see her. Ona can easily imagine the red cheeks on Aitana’s face and her little frown.
“What about you? Have you found someone there?”
“It’s complicated”
She doesn’t want to say anything, surrounded by everyone around. Especially Tony, to be honest.
“It’s not Tony, is it?”
“Ew. No.”
She can hear her best friend’s laugh, and it makes her smile too. Aitana’s laugh is very communicative, and this is the ultimate proof.
“Did you hear about Jana’s family?” Ona asks softly.
“Yeah, I saw Bruna yesterday. She was very touched by how you talked about her little sister. Their parents were too.”
“Can you tell them I think about them too, please?”
“Of course, I will.”
They talk until the ten minutes are finally finished and she then gives the phone to the male tribute from the 9. After that she laid down, looking thoughtfully at the ceiling. Aitana was a great choice. She managed to keep the conversation casual and still managed to give her peace with some things.
Her parents are proud of her, Joan too. Joan and her will finally give a chance to their love. And they all love her very much. She couldn’t ask for more in her situation.
When they finally are finished with all these phone calls, they are able to leave to go to their quarters. It’s almost dinner time, so Ona takes advantage of it to go take a shower. She showers a lot since she’s here, appreciating the fact that there is hot and clear water at every hour of the day.
She then changes and goes to Alexia’s room, where she waits for dinner with her. Ona talks to Alexia about her phone call and a little bit more about Aitana. If Alexia goes to visit her parents at the 8, she might meet Aitana too. She told Alexia that she will see Lucy after dinner but would be back for the curfew.
After dinner, she sneaks out of the quarter and goes to the same room as yesterday. She wonders if Lucy will be here already but she soon has her answer when she enters the room.
There are pillows and blankets on the ground and the boxes have been pushed to mask a large part of the room if you look at it from the front door. Lucy suddenly stands when she hears the door, but smiles when she sees Ona.
“Hi” she says.
“Hey. What’s all of this?” Ona smiles.
“Well, this room isn’t as good as our garden, but I thought that with a little bit of work I could make it look great. What do you think?”
Ona is still smiling when she walks a little bit more in the room, looking around her. She’s touched by the amount of effort Lucy puts in, just for her.
“It’s amazing”
Lucy takes a big breath of relief before going for the switch of the room.
“And you haven’t seen everything!”
Lucy turns off the lights and it takes a few seconds for Ona’s eyes to adjust. But she is finally able to see the different colors dancing on the walls, in the light of the small lamps bedside that Lucy has hidden with cloth of colors.
She’s not really herself when she lets curse words get out of her lips, making Lucy chuckle. The brunette comes to take Ona’s hand in her, taking her with her to be laying in the pillow fort.
“Thank you” Ona whispers when she’s on her back, looking at the lights on the ceiling.
“My pleasure” Lucy smirks.
She’s on her back too, next to Ona. Ona turns her head in Lucy’s direction, enjoying the fact to finally be able to look at her how she wants. Lucy seems to feel her gaze on her though, because she finally turns her head in her direction. Just like yesterday, she strokes Ona’s cheek while removing a strand of her from her face.
Except that this time, her hand remains on Ona’s face, her thumb gently stroking her cheek.
“Is that ok?” Lucy whispers.
Ona nods, without looking away. She's hypnotized by Lucy’s eyes, her touch, her face… Everything. She has the impression that her heart is beating somewhere in her throat, but she doesn’t move anyway when she feels Lucy leans on her.
She’s on the verge of a heart attack when Lucy’s lips depose a tentative kiss on hers. She then feels all of her body react, shivers running on her skin everywhere and a heath crawling under her skin. It’s even way better than what she imagined.
Ona passes one of her hands in Lucy’s hair, taking Lucy’s lips against her once again when the older one stops the kiss. She wants more of it, she needs more of it. They exchange one, two, three and even four more kisses, each more urgent and passionate than the one before.
At some point, Lucy’s hands shyly explore Ona’s body from her fingertips while Ona’s hands are discovering the muscles of Lucy’s back. She can feel Lucy’s hard muscles under the soft skin after she passes her hands under her t-shirt.
“You don’t know how much I wanted to do that. And for how long” Lucy whispers after the kiss, when she she leaned her forehead against Ona’s.
Ona never had Lucy’s face so close to her. She tries to remember every little detail about Lucy’s face. Every freckle, every little scar, everything.
“Me too” Ona smiles softly. “I never thought… You know.”
“No?”
Lucy tilts her head, half-lying on Ona. But the younger girl doesn’t mind, even if it’s hard to concentrate on the conversation in this position.
“Have you seen yourself? And have you seen me?”
“I’ve watched you a lot, actually.”
Ona blushes and Lucy’s cocky smile gets bigger when she realizes it. She did it too, looking at Lucy as much as she could. She never admits it out loud though, but she likes the idea that Lucy wasn’t able to resist the urge to look at her too.
“And what I see is the most beautiful, cute and hot woman.”
“Hot?” Ona chuckles. “You’re the hot one here”
But Lucy shakes her head and leans again, to kiss Ona’s jaw this time. The younger one can feel more waves of heath crossing her body and her hands wrinkle on Lucy’s shirt. Her breath goes faster too, and she has to bite her lips when Lucy’s lips slide on her neck.
“Lucy” Ona finally calls softly.
Lucy hums, bringing her face up to the level of Ona’s.
“I… I’ve never…”
She doesn’t finish her sentence, but she doesn’t need to. Lucy smiles softly at her, pecking her lips before talking.
“I wasn’t going to jump on you here and now” she states, making Ona blush. “We have to go back soon, anyway.”
Ona pouts this time. She doesn’t want to go back to her bedroom alone after the moment she shared with Lucy. Just like she can hear what Ona is thinking, Lucy puts her face on her hand and gently caresses Ona’s face.
“We will see each other tomorrow, right?”
“Sure” Ona smiles softly. “Thanks again for the lights and the pillow fort”
“My pleasure” Lucy smirks before kissing Ona again.
This kiss doesn’t last long though, they really have to go. Ona helps Lucy to tidy the room before leaving. When everything is in the big bag Lucy took and Ona hasn’t seen before, they turn to each other.
This time it’s Ona who passes her arms around Lucy’s neck, standing on tiptoe, to kiss her to say goodbye.
“Sleep tight, beautiful” Lucy whispers before kissing her one last time.
Just like they usually do, one left before the other, just in case someone else is around. Ona is the last to leave, but she’s glad. Like this she can compose herself before going back to her quarters.

can you write for a vox x fem! reader for an enemies to lovers?
for sure! Sorry this one’s a lil shorter, I have no clue how to write enemies to lovers.. but I tried for y’all! Also, Just for setting purposes, I made Reader the overlord of basically just, hell’s music. Thought that might be a good rivalry dhdkdjsid. :)
Battery-Powered Love
Vox X Fem!Overlord!Reader. words : 1k warning for slight manipulation.
You let out an impatient sigh as you check your watch. You had been called to this stupid fucking meeting - which you didn’t want to go to, because god knows how much you hate the Vees. But not a single one had shown up - not even the one you could slightly tolerate,
Velvette. Not even Valentino - god knows he was up to other than torturing Angel - and you hoped to Satan that it would be anyone but Vox. Anyone but Vox would be okay. An assistant telling you that you got your schedules mixed. Maybe even just a flat out no show. That would be fine.
But just as you thought that - a swing of the door pulled you out of your thoughts, and as you looked up, just to your luck, the flat-screen TV of a man you loved despised more than you’d ever be able to express in a business setting was greeting you with the smuggest, ugliest, most shit-eating grin you’d seen on his face in a while. This meant one of two things. Bad news, you owed him something, or He wanted something from you and was trying to play nice.
“Good Afternoon, My Friend!” He said as he pulled out a chair opposite to you, resting his clasped hands on the table, putting on that insufferably fake classy act on. Like he didn’t want to shoot a bullet through your dead stare. Because he believed in reputation. Having a reputation in hell is like having a designer bag to carry your groceries. You don’t need it, no one actually cares if you have a one, but it makes you feel more special. You grimaced.
“You’re already ten minutes late, Vox.” You said with a sigh, putting your feet up on the table lazily, leaning back with a tilt of your head, arms crossed to your chest. “Get on with it. I actually have things to do.” You snarled out, sighing as you leaned your head back on the chair, refusing to actually look him in his digital eyes, opting to stare at the stupid ceiling instead.
“Well, you are quite forward today, aren’t you?” He said with a small chuckle, trying to suck up his own ego for his professional reputation. He may have power, but you hold at least a quarter of his everything under your own music. He swallows thickly before continuing, adjusting his bow tie and straightening out.
“As you know, Alastor is back in town. So we- “ he started with bated breaths, before you promptly interrupted him with a snort. “Okay, I’m gonna stop you right about there.” You said with a chuckle as you let your eyes fall back on him, raising your eyebrows, tilting your head. “I am not getting involved with him. I have records to sell. I have an afterlife to live, until at the very least the next extermination.” You said with a heavy sigh, pulling your feet off the table and standing up, hands still crossed tight over your chest.
“The reason I’m not dead is because I can recognize when someone can fucking kill me, Vox.” You continued, making your way to the door, turning back to look at him while you spoke. “If you expect me to-“ and it’s your turn to get cut off as he stands up as well, doing his off-putting electricity thing, teleporting from the security camera right in front of the doors, blocking your path.
“Tsk-tsk-tsk, you’re so quick to assume.” He chuckles, rolling his eyes playfully. “I don’t want you to go and fight him, darling.” You grimace as he starts with the pet names, rolling your eyes and staring at the floor, refusing to look him in the face again. “I want you to silence out his… propaganda.” He hums as you try to walk away from his bickering and nonsense, only to have him teleport straight back in front of you using the overhead light on the ceiling, causing you to stumble back slightly.
“That’s getting involved. A path to getting my screams played for everyone in this circle of hell to hear? No.” You say flatly, grimacing at him as he chuckles darkly, leaning on one hip as he looks you up and down, smiling. “But there’s so much we could offer you.” He starts as you try to walk away from him again, just to bump straight first into his chest all over again.
“Maybe you could become one of the Vees. Valentino, Velvette, Vox, Y/N… you just have to think of a new, catchier name.” He says with a small sarcastic giggle, leaning down and looking at you with those stupid droopy eyes he always used when he wanted something out of you. The reason you always refused to look at him properly. You snapped your head away quickly, running for the door.
Running straight back into him.
“You can’t just try to fucking - seduce me into doing your bidding! Jesus - fuck!” You groaned as you ran straight back into him, starting to fall onto your back, before he grabbed your hand, pulling you up and against him, one hand tightly on the curve of your waist, smiling down at you.
“I’m not trying to seduce you for this in particular.” He said as you looked up at him with wide eyes and a small panicked expression, trying to think of a way out as blush spread across your cheeks, trying to pull your hand away from his to no avail. “I have much better reasons for seducing you, love.” He hums out, and you shut your eyes tight.
Don’t fall for his trap. For your own sake. Don’t.
“C’mon, give me a try, love” he purrs out, and you decide you at the very least have to assert some sort of dominance in this situation - you can’t get your way out of his terrifying grips - you can’t stop looking in his eyes - and so you do the last thing you wanted to - or maybe the thing you’ve been wanting to do ever since he walked in.
You pulled him down by his arm, lips pressed right against his, almost getting shocked by the electricity flowing rapidly though his veins, his own eyes wide - before closing them slowly. That was the absolute last thing he expected you to do - but he isn’t complaining. Tugging your harder again him, smiling against your lips. You pulled back, breathing heavily.
“I’m guessing that’s a yes, darling.”

Unbottle Your Emotions
Eustass Kid x Reader (Part 2)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 Ahoy, here with Part 2 of this series. Quick A/N that if Apoo is ooc, I don't care. This story is about Eustass Kid :3 Enjoy ^-^
"Yo yo yo! How are my favourite non-party people doing?"
"Hi Apoo," you greeted the DJ who slung his long arms around you and Hawkins.
Apoo's the extrovert friend that adopted you and Hawkins. At first, you didn't understand why he decided to hang around you guys until he admitted he felt excluded by the social crowd in school. You and Hawkins had let him be a part of the conversation and he liked being around you guys after getting to know you. He invited both of you to a few of his parties but then realized you weren't party people, hence the nickname.
"Greetings Scratchman, are you planning to join us for lunch?" Hawkins asked Apoo while you closed your locker.
"You know it," Apoo replied and took his arms off your shoulders, aware you didn't like physicalness for too long. "Where we heading?"
"We're going to the vegan restaurant Hawkins wanted to try," you answer as the three of you head out of the school.
"What?" Apoo look at you dumbfounded. "I thought you didn't like that stuff [N/n]."
"[Y/n] had been partnered with Eustass in English and their last conversation left her not wanting to face the redhead again, so she asked me to get her stuff and we're going to the restaurant as her returning the favour," Hawkins explained to Apoo.
"Oh, you're partnered with Kid?" Apoo looked to you for a response. Seeing you only nod, made him switch topics. "... Hm, to the restaurant we go. What's going to be served there anyway? Salads?"
"You are aware vegans eat more than just vegetables," Hawkins stated with an unamused expression, though to those who pass by, he still kept the same face.
"My bad." Apoo held up his hands in defence. "But you can't blame a guy for thinking vegans just eat rabbit food."
Hawkins would've glared at the DJ if not for you giggling, seeing you amused made him let it slide for now. "Rest assured, there are a variety of dishes you'll be able to choose from."
"We'll see about that," you said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Yo, the coconut cheese nachos were da bomb!" Apoo exclaimed as he exited the restaurant. "Who knew vegan food taste so good!"
"Ehhh, I still prefer my burgers," you teased the blond who held the door.
"I'm at least grateful you gave it a try, even if it was for paying back a favour," Hawkins said, letting the door close and joining your side.
"Yeah, yeah." You waved it off.
Your mood has picked up since this morning, practically forgetting what had happened in the first place. You suppose you could thank Apoo for his infectious upbeat vibe. Despite how annoying he can be, it's nice to have someone who can distract you from stressful things in life.
"Next time I'm picking where we eat!" Apoo declared walking backwards in front of you and Hawkins.
"Sure, do me a favour sometime and we'll go." You smiled. "Just as long as it's not you trynna sneak us into a club with a bar again."
"Aw right!" Apoo threw his arm up. "Trust me guys when I say, you are gonna love- Oof!" He stumbled forward when he bumped into something, or rather, someone.
"Watch where you're going," a blue-haired guy said.
"Yo-" Apoo turned around, his defensive mode switched on. "Maybe if you didn't stand around blocking the sidewalk I wouldn't have to," he "countered".
You deadpanned, it's not the first you've seen Apoo puff his pride to where you can hardly tell the difference between him and a barking chihuahua, it just gets old after so many times. Perhaps this attitude of his is the main reason he's excluded from the social crowd at school. Though, it never bothered you much since you knew it wasn't real beef, and Hawkins... tolerated it? Well, he never brought it up so you can only assume as much.
Hawkins rolled his eyes and passed by the two. "Leave it, Scratchman."
"Come on, Apoo." You walked by him and patted the other's shoulder. "Sorry about him."
"Yo, can't you see I'm not the one at fault here?" Apoo questioned you guys.
"People who don't watch their surroundings get killed." The guy glared at Apoo, and that's when you recognized who this guy was. He's Heat from Kid's gang, which means the rest are nearby.
No... no no no. You already didn't want to bump into Kid again, being in range of his anger is so much worse. The thought alone caused stress to weigh on your mind. Haistly, you spun on your heels.
"You threatening me or some- hey!" Apoo didn't finish when you grabbed his arm and scrambled to get away. "Ayo, what gives [Y/n]?"
"Go. Go! Before-"
"What's the going on here?"
Fear ceased your haste, and colour drained from your skin. You knew the voice belonged to Kid before you turned around, though it didn't surprise you that the rest of his crew followed in company. Seems like they came out of one of the restaurants.
"Nuh- nothing! My friend just accidentally bumped into your buddies, sorry about that." You bow to show your respect as you apologize, nudging Apoo to do the same.
"What? I ain't apologizing." Apoo frowned at you.
Kid got ready to pick a bone when he saw you throw a deadly glare at Scratchman while gripping the guy's arm and not two seconds later it had Scratchman saying sorry. He eyed you, intrigued, the actions you just displayed shined a different side of you he had not seen in English class. You gave off the impression you were an academic scatterbrain, then he found out you listen to metal which confused him. You seemed too submissive and agreeable to be into something so hardcore. That glare you threw at Apoo told another story. You were strange, he couldn't figure you out. Perhaps there's more to uncover.
Kid narrowed his eyes at you as if staring at a puzzle. "You should hang out with other classmates, [L/n]."
"It's not like anyone else wants to be around me," you muttered to yourself, not knowing Kid picked it up. "We'll be leaving now, have a good day Eustass." You flashed a soft smile at him.
Little did you know the effect your smile would have on Kid would start something.
NEED MORE OFFICE DOTTORE PLEAAAAADE HBAUBGUDUHFIBOND
i. note — he’s my guilty pleasure im sry i js CRAVE this mf twenny four/seven ദ്ദി ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ ) </3 ii. includes — dottore, afab! reader but no gendered pronouns are used iii. cw — im rambling again heyyy what's new. office setting/modern au, dottore is kinda creepy, implied stalking, obsessive behaviour, their feelings are mutual but dottore comes off too strong and reader is a bit dense, mention of periods, drinking/alcohol, implied drugging (but nothing happens). this sounds bad but its tame he's just a weirdo with a crush and is weird about said crush Trust Me
thinking about office senior! dottore using his status in the company to butt in and work on projects that you’ve been assigned. him slowly but surely worming his way into your life ever since he got a taste of you, unable to let you just be a fling, a one-time thing. he just has to ruin you in every way
he would definitely be sooo aware of your steadily blooming crush on him and would use it against you to then tease you to hell and back. this man knows how to toy with people! he’ll most definitely toy with you!!!
lingering touches bordering on unprofessional but still friendly if you squint, going out of his way to ask your opinion on things during a crowded meeting n putting you on the spot, stepping into the elevator at the same time as you to trap you n initiate small talk……
of course said “small talk” is always… a little weird… when it’s with zandik. he doesn’t talk about the weather, stocks, or whatever mundane task you were working on right before you went on lunch break.
no, he’ll talk about things he shouldn’t know about you, things he’d only know if you told him about them, or things that are just a little too… personal? but maybe you’re being a little uptight. maybe you just… don’t remember telling him some things about yourself. it’s not like he’s talking about anything super outrageous or controversial anyways, it’s fine.
“eating instant noodles every day for dinner isn’t good for you, it’s most likely the reason why you get such bad cramps during your cycle. i would recommend adding some leafy greens to your servings at the very least, or some tofu to help with your iron intake.”
what a weirdo…. but hey, he’s kinda right, maybe you should eat more balanced meals so you don’t keel over anytime soon.
office senior! dottore also often does creepy things but in a nice way? if that makes sense?
for example, when the team is brought out for drinks to celebrate another successful project, he’ll make sure to be the only one sitting next to you. you’ll be squished against the wall and his shoulder, beer in hand, your cheeks burning from the alcohol and the proximity between you two
he’ll keep an eye on you and your alcohol tolerance, but not in the way you think he will. he’ll encourage you to drink more, “you seem tense. here, here’s a refill” he’d say in that smooth voice of his. “oh? you’re stumbling on your words, are your nerves still acting up? have my drink.”
and once you get to the point where you’re leaning over the table, head resting on your arms, only then will he start to actually take care of you.
he’ll place one hand on your back, rubbing soothing circles to help ground you from your dizziness. scold you for drinking so much, all while everyone else at the table glances at you with concern (or as much concern as other drunk and tipsy coworkers can muster)
“you shouldn’t have drank so much if you knew your alcohol tolerance was this poor.”
and the shadow of a smile on his face will turn into something more sinister when you frantically get up to rush to the bathroom. you immediately stumble to the floor, dizzy and disoriented. too dizzy and disoriented.
he’ll catch you before you fall as coworkers express their concern for you, only then noticing how bad your state had gotten now that face-planting directly onto the tatami floor of the bar was a feasible outcome
a chorus of surprised “woah!”’s and “are you okay?” ring out, conversations growing quieter as everyone stares at the stoic, scary superior holding up the rookie that got completely plastered at a work event. some are silently judging, but most are ogling zandik
your cubicle neighbor and work buddy gets up from her seat, stumbling on her way to help you stand up. though she had indulged you in gossip about him before, something about him holding your suspiciously drunk body up made alarm bells ring in her head.
“i’ll take them home,” he declares, voice colder than ice. no one really notices the hostility in his tone, too tipsy themselves to notice zandik’s obvious favouritism towards you. “enjoy the rest of your night.”
...and he diligently brings you to your flat, catching you before you stumble on your feet and trip over nothing. the trip was a struggle for the both of you, though more so for you than for him considering he had anticipated this outcome. maybe next time he should reconsider before giving you so much to drink.
#ill never be able to properly portray just How Badly i need this man#if eeaao has taught me anything its that theres a universe out there where im getting plowed by him DAILY#and even though i wish it were the Me in This universe#thats. good enough i guess#hey siri how do i lucid dream#asking for a friend#definitely for a friend#i didnt proofread this either i just spat it out#but it came from my heart. so#୧ ‧₊˚orderup!#genshin x reader#dottore x reader#genshin x you#dottore x you#il dottore x you#dottore x afab reader#cw drugging#cw drinking#cw stalking#cw dark content#just in case
More angst for the Homophobic Heaven AU:
The Exterminations, and therefore the Exorcists, didn't exist until thousands of years after Carmilla's fall. When they DID begin Carmilla and a few other Fallen Angels tried to fight back, only to be stopped and teleported away by Lucifer. He told them that the Exterminations were to cut down the sinner population, and while some of them questioned this decision, most accepted it.
Carmilla, on the other hand, was furious. And after the other Fallen have left, demanded to know which idiotic Elder decided that EXTERMINATION was a good idea. Only for Lucifer to tell her that SERA was the one who signed off on it. Carmilla refused to belive this, the Sera she knew and loved WOULD NEVER. Maybe she was just the one that the Elders put forth to negotiate the term? Yeah that MUST be it. Because if not... NO, her Sera would never agree to something this barbaric.
For Clara and Odette in this AU, I was thinking maybe they're Zestial's. After a couple of Beetlejuice Carmilla and Zestial get "acquainted" which results in the twins. They don't get together but they still remain good friends. Like an amicably divorced couple. He knows Carmilla is still in love with Sera and while he fills in the Father role for the girls, he makes sure to tell them stories that Carmilla told him of Sera, their other Mama.
"What do you mean Sera is responsible? She would never do this! I refuse to believe it!"
Carmilla stands before Lucifer Morningstar, king of Hell, embodiment of Pride, who is sitting on his throne, looking toward him as if he doesn't have the power to rip her asunder with a mere twitch of his claws. The amount of rage and anguish she feels at his words, the sense of outright betrayal and disbelief coursing through her body, give her a sense of bravery and defiance that any of the other embodiments of Sin simply wouldn't tolerate from their subjects.
But this is Lucifer. Her friend, her former comrade in arms, her brother, allowing her to show this much insubordination. Because he knows how she must feel, and it's not like he can fault her for it. Not one bit. Not when this news is so personal.
"Carmilla. I know this may be difficult to hear. But this information comes directly from the Elders. While someone may not be telling me the entire truth...until I hear otherwise, I have to work under the assumption that it's true."
"NO! It's not true! It can't be true! She's not that cruel!"
He's never seen so much anger in Carmilla's eyes before. Never so much raw grief and lack of composure; not from one of his oldest and closest friends. He can tell this is eating her up inside. Whether it's true or not, he can't say, but the news is having the likely intended effect on Carmilla. Heaven had wanted to wear them all down. What better way to do that, than for the source of the misery to be coming from the one Carmilla loves most?
Carmilla's companion, the demon spider Zestial, places a large, gangly black claw on the woman's shoulder. He's been standing behind her the entire time, trying not to get in the way of official angel business. He's only a Sinner, but Carmilla will rarely go anywhere without him, these days. Lucifer has permitted his presence, for her sake. He's quiet, studious, and well-behaved enough, for a Sinner. It's the least he can do.
Unfortunately, the ancient Sinner's attempt to comfort her doesn't work as well as he'd probably hoped. Carmilla steps forward, away from Zestial and closer to Lucifer. Getting up in his face. Breathing hard; pupils blown wide; for all the world like she wants to slap him.
She doesn't. It's not his fault. What good would it do, anyway? Squabbles among siblings is so beneath her. It would lead to nothing except more pain and anger between the two of them. It would accomplish nothing and make her feel even worse than she does right now.
She steps back again, her claws clenching even tighter together, and turns around to face away from him.
"I have some business I need to attend to," Lucifer says, looking up at her back that is now facing him, trying to distill the tension by offering himself a way out. "Again, I'm so sorry, Carmilla. You can stay here as long as you need to, to...compose yourself. I'll keep the others away."
Lucifer is gone in the time it takes to blink. He's teleported himself away from Carmilla's presence, not even bothering to use the door to his throne room. He likely doesn't want the others to catch a glimpse of Carmilla in her moment of weakness. She mentally thanks him for that, at the very least. Carmilla knows the way she's acting is very unbecoming. It's not like her at all.
But how is she supposed to act. When he...when Lucifer had...when he'd told her that news?
Without the presence of her king forcing her to keep it together, Carmilla's composure quite literally shatters. The woman can almost feel her heart being torn in two, as easily as someone might rip a piece of paper. With a sob of anguish, she falls apart, in every sense that a person can. Instead of collapsing onto the floor, which would be easier, she rushes toward Zestial, his arms already open and bringing her in to be sheltered by his heated embrace.
Carmilla cries, she wails, into the obsidian of his robes. He just holds her there, stroking her hair comfortingly, letting the long, loose strands flow through his claws like water.
Carmilla hadn't even had time to fix her hair this morning. That's how little she'd cared about the usual decorum of these angelic meetings. She'd told him she needed to talk to Lucifer right now, it couldn't wait, and he'd dropped everything, and teleported her right into the throne room with the seven Deadly Sins. Her and Zestial's presence hadn't exactly been...expected, but Lucifer had tolerated it. For her.
Now, as Carmilla's tears begin to soak into his robe, she grasps into the dark material with her claws, pulling a little too hard, until the fabric starts to rip. Zestial doesn't stop her, though. His robes have been through worse, and he's rather talented with a spinning wheel, so he'll just deal with it later. This is so much more important.
"How could she?" Carmilla weeps into his chest. "How could she, Zestial?"
"My dearest Carmilla," the old spider says, holding her closer to him with both arms. The hand on the back of her head strokes her neck. "We know not yet if the king spake truth, or if Heaven doth but jest with thee. Have faith, Carmilla."
"How?" Carmilla asks, bluntly. "How do I have faith in anything anymore?"
"When we are lost, and all doth seem hopeless, faith is all that remains. Heaven shall employ any wiles to make all appear for naught. Believe them not now."
Carmilla starts to calm. The smell of him, the smoke and ash wafting off the Sinner's body, is both familiar and comforting. She knows he speaks truth; Heaven cannot be trusted. It is not without precedent for them to say anything to drive a wedge between the fallen angels, or make it seem so hopeless, there's no use in fighting back. Carmilla is so embarrassed of herself. Like a child, she'd lashed out, and taken it out on Lucifer. Leave it to her oldest, dearest friend and companion to have more logic than herself.
Ever since she'd manifested down here, after Heaven had pushed her out, Zestial had been one of the few non-angels she's trusted. He's always been so different, more human, for lack of a better comparison, than any of her comrades that had fallen before her. They had changed too much, too drastically, for her to even recognize them at first. They'd lost their spark, their will to fight back...
Zestial, however, is a soul with as much wisdom as some of the angels in Heaven. He'd never lost his will to fight. In fact, it's one of the reasons he's lasted so long down here, and become such a powerful overlord. He knows when to show his hand, and also when to take a step back and assess. When to scheme, when to plan, and when to retreat. That's part of what she likes about him.
The fact that he's kind, patient, and loyal to a fault, is another reason. As well as the fact that he loves her so thoroughly, so passionately, and shows it, is yet another. She tries not to compare him to Sera, because they are absolutely not even remotely the same, but the way he holds her, kisses, her, makes love to her...it reminds her of her lost love, and the way she felt around Sera back in Heaven. But not quite. He is his own person, and had known going into this that there is still baggage there, that Carmilla still loves Sera, and yet...
He still holds her. Comforts her. Gives everything to the children they brought into the world together. Helps her keep that memory of Sera, a woman he's never met, alive for them, through his stories and fanciful tales. He doesn't have to do any of that. Gets absolutely nothing out of it except for Carmilla's endless gratitude and satisfaction. But maybe that's why he does it... Helping her and being there for her makes him happy. Carmilla doesn't think she'll ever be able to repay him.
Once Carmilla is calm, and she can look up at him with minimal new tears falling from her eyes, she can see his face is sad. But for her benefit, he smiles, ever so slightly, in that crooked, adorable way that he does. He pushes her hair behind her ear, away from her face, and then holds her cheek in his hand, to stroke it lightly.
"Fret not, Carmilla. All will become clear. Let us return to Odette and Clara. They are likely concerned for thee."
Carmilla nods. Once again, he's most likely correct. They'd left in such a hurry that morning, they hadn't had time to let the girls know where they were going.
"Okay," Carmilla says. "You're right. Let's go back."
Zestial nods in return, and then bends down, placing a final kiss to her forehead. It's not...romantic, per se, or platonic, either. It's somewhere in between. Or on a different plane entirely. It's hard to put a word to what their relationship is. But that's fine. They don't need a name for it. They are exactly what they need to be for each other, at this particular moment in time.
Pulling away, Carmilla wipes the remaining tears from her eyes. Then Zestial re-opens the portal, so they can go home to their girls, and rest off the stress of the day.
(Edit: Tagging @tanema123 cuz I know they love these two goobers, and who knows when I’ll dip my toe into Zestmilla again, Lmao)
A Real Nightmare | a.a. | 1
Astarion x fem!Tav
Word Count: 2.1k
Warnings: Cussing. Astarion being…Astarion
Author’s Note: I’m not even sorry.
Talk to Me! | Series Masterlist
Astarion, visibly frustrated, threw his jacket to the ground with irritation, aggressively stomping out the flames that had crawled up its arm. A string of colorful curses escaped his lips as he forcefully dug his heel into the dirt, determined to extinguish every ember. Witnessing the dramatic display, Tav instinctively covered her face with her hands, feeling her cheeks flush with a mix of embarrassment and panic. The crackling sounds of the dying flames, accompanied by Astarion's expressive language, created a chaotic scene that lingered in the air, leaving an awkward tension between the two.
The majority of the party had headed into the nearest town to snag supplies or dig deeper into their quest details, leaving Tav and Astarion to handle the camp setup—just the two of them. Despite their limited interactions in the few days they'd known each other, usually confined to brief and somewhat meaningless small talk, today marked a shift. It was the day they finally got down to setting up a proper camp, making it the longest stretch of time she'd spent alone with him.
It wasn’t the worst thing in the world; it’s not as if she hated him or anything…she just didn’t like his snide comments on everything. Or the way he looked at her like she was something to eat and not a person. Or the burning feeling in her belly when he flirted. But when he didn’t have an audience, he wasn’t nearly as bad. Truthfully, he was almost tolerable.
Astarion had thrown a fit, complaining about having "worked so hard" to gather what he considered "so much firewood" (although three logs hardly qualified, she didn't bother arguing), only to come back and discover they had no means to light it. In a moment of misguided goodwill, Tav offered to take care of it. In hindsight, she should have known better than to make such an offer; her command over magic, especially when it came to fire, was far from stellar.
Which was how Astarion's jacket caught fire. And how her tent also caught fire. Though luckily, she hadn’t put all of her belongings inside yet.
"I'm sorry!" she exclaimed, hastily reaching out to retrieve his coat as he stormed away from the smoldering fabric. Examining it, she assessed the damage, hoping against hope for a chance at recovery. The arm was unmistakably burned through, but with the right supplies, she believed she could mend it. Her voice carried a mix of guilt and fear as she spoke, "I really didn't mean to do that – truly, Astarion. I would never actually try to hurt you, not on –,"
“You can’t even cast a spell correctly!” He interrupted, turning around quickly to point at her. His eyes flashed –a mix of darkness, anger, and a touch of dangerous allure.
“Excuse me, I can cast a spell just fine,” she argued, crossing her arms over her chest like a petulant child. His jacket hung at her side as she narrowed her eyes at him. “I just don’t have a lot of control after I cast it.”
“How is that any better?”
“Because at least I can do something!”
“You lit me on fire!”
“It was an accident!”
“What kind of sorceress can’t control her own fucking magic?” He demanded.
“One that has never been taught!” She spat back at him, her guilt receding only to be replaced with anger. He was allowed to be mad at her for lighting him on fire –he wasn’t allowed to insult her in the process, however.
“What the bloody hell do you mean, ‘one that’s never been taught’?”
Tav hesitated, realizing that maybe she had divulged too much. Her reluctance to expose her...deficiencies in magic was almost nonexistent.
When she had become the de facto leader of the party, and they had gathered up Gale into their midst, he had pressed her about her skills and spells that came from her home in Otherus. She tried to play it off at first, explaining that magic in Faerun wasn’t all that different from magic in Otherus, but Gale had been persistent –even when she explained she’d rather not have an audience. He just asked for her to join him in private.
It was there that Gale learned that their leader was not nearly as capable as she had made herself out to be. While she was able to cast spells and use magic, she couldn’t exactly…control the outcome.
Magic had long been outlawed in certain parts of Otherus –in the main cities and around the edge of the kingdom, specifically –and Tav was born to a sorceress mother and a soldier of the king, who loathed those with magic at their dispense. Her mother, Fera, had kept her abilities secret for years until after Tav had been born. However, fearing that her babe would start showing signs, Fera thought it time to reveal to her husband what they were.
Fera had thought he would understand. That he loved them enough to protect them.
Fera had been wrong.
The King’s Guard had been called to the home, and by the time they arrived –Fera was slain, and Tav’s father was attempting to remove her hands from her body.
“A sorceress without hands is no sorceress at all,” he had seethed, pressing the blade into her wrist, breaking the skin and almost hitting the bone.
The Guard stopped him before he did further damage; demanded if she had shown any signs of magic prior. When they determined she hadn’t, the Guard charged him with the abuse of a child; but his sentence was lenient for ridding the world of one more magic user.
Tav was ten.
For a short while, Tav lived with her grandmother in a small village outside the kingdom but she was old and frail, and had no desire to raise a child at her age. Isowen, her mother’s sister, took her instead to the edge of the kingdom, as far from the king’s guard of Otherus as possible. Isowen ran an apothecary and taught Tav in the healing arts but forbade her from talking of magic or the arcane. Too many soldiers came in and out of their little shop; it was never safe.
This was how it went for years –until Tav was old enough to go out on her own, and make a life for herself.
Initially, she had every intention of departing from Otherus. The kingdom as a whole, in all honesty, didn't hold any allure for her, especially if she aspired to master the control of her magic. However, the lack of viable means to leave or reach any other destination left her with no choice. Consequently, she found herself navigating a transient existence, engaging in various odd jobs across villages she encountered along the way. To safeguard herself, she discreetly concealed her magical abilities, aware of the potential risks that came with revealing her unique skills in unfamiliar territories.
It wasn’t until the damned tadpole in her eye that she was finally taken away from Otherus. And now she was the leader of a band of heroes, trying to save everyone…and she had no idea how to control herself.
Gale had been sweet enough to offer to teach her, and keep her secret. Even though he did sound a bit snobbish about the ordeal, his lessons were important to her and she enjoyed the time she spent with him.
Astarion continued to stare her down, his gaze unwavering, expecting an explanation. She felt the weight of his scrutiny, her left hand instinctively curling around her right, fingers tracing the scar that served as a perpetual reminder of the painful history of her life in Otherus.
"Have you ever kept so much bottled up for so damn long that when it finally spills out, it's like a wildfire you can't control? But, you know, strangely satisfying? Like this unseen weight you didn't even realize you were hauling around just lifts off your shoulders?" she asked, settling onto the ground before the dormant fire pit. She absentmindedly wrung her wrist, caught in the residual tension of her confession.
Astarion remained standing, though when she looked up at him to ask him to join her, his eyes had left her face and were fixed on where she held her wrist.
“I can’t say I have.”
His voice was soft –sincere, even –and Tav smiled wryly.
“I’m from Otherus,” she explained, and Astarion let out a little ah in response –a knowing sound. She let out a humorless laugh, holding her hand to him now. “I had just gotten enough coin to finally leave when the damn worm got me. And now…I’m here.”
There was a moment of hesitation on his end, but eventually Astarion kneeled beside her and took her hand, examining the scar that rested between where her hand and wrist met. “You’re saying, darling, that up until you became the leader of a bunch of weirdos –you had never used your magic?”
Tav nodded once, shivering involuntarily as Astarion ran his thumb over the scar. “Here and there; but never enough to be meaningful.”
“Sweet hells, we’re doomed.”
“Must you be so dramatic?” She asked, though instead of the annoyed tone she usually held, it was laced with a fear that she wished she didn’t have. “I…I didn’t ask for any of this. I don’t know what happened; one moment, I was following Shadowheart’s lead then the next I was doling out orders.”
Astarion dropped from his kneeling position to sit beside her, one knee pulled up as the other was outstretched in front of him. He shifted and rested his weight on his hands.
“You are rather bossy,” he pointed out, grinning at her teasingly, as if trying to ease the tension. “I suppose it only makes sense, minus the whole lack of skill bit.”
“You and Gale are the only two who know.”
Astarion practically giggled in delight. “Ah, so I have blackmail. I love it.”
She gave him a funny look, unable to help herself. “Astarion, you cannot blackmail me when I also know something about you.”
He scoffed. “Please. I’m an open book, darling.”
“You’re right; you are an open book. And the very first page says you’re a vampire.”
For a moment, she could tell he was debating if he would play off her accusations. She knew the look well; it was one she used herself when she wanted to avoid confrontation. But then he narrowed his eyes.
“And how did you come to that conclusion?”
She rolled her eyes, pointing at her throat. “You have bite marks on your neck, Astarion,” then she motioned towards her mouth. “You also have fangs. You never eat with us, or when I offer you food. When you drink wine, you look nearly offended by it —,”
“To be fair, it is shit wine.”
“Regardless —I know you think me an idiot, but what I may lack in spell casting, I make up for in intelligence. I’m rather observant when I want to be.”
At this, Astarion leaned in close to her, voice turning sultry. “Oh, so you observe me, my love?”
Tav swallowed hard, involuntarily leaning in as well without even realizing it. “Occasionally, yes. Probably as much as you observe me.”
Astarion's lips curled into a mischievous smirk, and as he subtly withdrew, Tav felt the heat rise in her cheeks. A mix of excitement and self-chastisement coursed through her, acknowledging the magnetic effect he seemed to have on her. As she opened her mouth to respond, the distant sound of Karlach's animated yell reached them, accompanied by the laughter of their returning companions. Both their attentions shifted towards the camp's edge, momentarily distracted from the tension that she was certain they both felt.
Astarion rose from his spot, extending his hand toward her. Tav met his gaze briefly before accepting his hand, allowing him to help her to her feet. Their hands remained connected for a moment longer than strictly necessary, a subtle tension hanging in the air, before Astarion finally withdrew and strolled away from her towards the group. There wasn’t a doubt in her mind that he was about to go embellish how badly she fucked up the fire.
But instead of feeling annoyed, she couldn’t help the smile that tugged at her lips.
“I hope you feel that weight lift one day, Astarion,” she said, soft enough that only he could hear.
He paused mid step, glancing over his shoulder at her. “One day, perhaps.”
