Dr Stone is hella depressing once you actually think about it. Like sure, they can redevelop all of the technology and inventions thanks to Senku but what about everything else? You can’t just reinvent timeless classics like Shakespeare or Natsume. All of those works of art? Gone. Unlike phones or planes, stories aren’t things that you can just… remake. The same thing with music. Sure, the more modern songs can be recreated but how would you recreate Beethoven or Mozart or some hidden gem of a masterpiece? All of the small nuances, all of the “softer” progress, for the lack of a better term.

Imagine waking up one day and realizing that you can never read your favorite book again. That those small comforts unique to you were erased and taken by time. The little things.

Even though the villagers had the Hundred Tales, that was more just for them. To keep them connected to the modern cultures.
