i know iâm likely being a bitch so donât waste time telling me i am, but still performing in a festival in a whole other country after canceling the tour dates that fit within the same timeframe of it sits soooo wrong with me lmao. i can understand and excuse canceling all dates for personal reasons, festival appearance included. but this way? itâs hurtful and disrespectful, at the very least. we were not only an afterthought but also less important than people going to a fucking festival lol, lmfao even.
#like. i really donât wanna be bitter. i really donât bc iâve been a fan for a whole ass decade and it feels incredibly preposterous#but come on. thatâs just fucking rude#i donât see the justification for doing the festival if personal reasons were cited. like. ???????#and i know technically as fans weâre owed nothing and anything we get is a gift#but knowing that some fans are more important and get a better treatment only depending on where they happen to live fucking sucks lol#not that thatâs news but lol#anywayyyyy#pls ignore me

some thoughts on doping
people (fans, players, etc.) who complain about special treatment for top players need to deep the fact that the qualms they have with the way that jannik and iga's cases were treated are barely related to the actual cases at hand and more to do with the fact that they believe others have been hard done by harsher treatment. which is an important complaint to verbalize, but directing that frustration at the players you believe are getting "special treatment" is part of what allows that unfairness to continue, because nobody is calling out the root of the problem which comes directly from the organizations in charge of actually managing these cases.
inevitably world #1s will have the money, resources, team, etc. to find the source of the positive test, to justify themselves, to prove their innocence, etc. and while i completely understand the frustration that not everyone has those resources i also don't believe there's any reason for somebody to not use such resources if they have them at their disposal.
so yes, i think it's fair to push for more player support within the realm of doping, but acting as though jannik or iga have done something wrong for utilizing the tools they had is kind of comical to me.
and there's the other side of the coin, wherein these people truly believe these associations are actively covering for guilty players. which brings me to another important point that a complete disbelief in the integrity of the system does absolutely nothing unless it is acted upon. which is to say, if you truly believe that jannik and iga were guilty of doping and the "special treatment" you mention is implying that the atp or wta or itia or wada covered for them, that is a very serious accusation which undermines the integrity of the sport of tennis as a whole. that may sound melodramatic, but i truly think that if you believe these associations are corrupt when it comes to doping (as proposals of "special treatment" in the case of guilt would suggest), i believe you are obligated to advocate against it in a much more substantial way than posting about it on social media. it would be concerning to me if people truly had zero trust for the integrity of organizations like wada and the itia, but continued to consume the sport without raising a question...until a player they don't like gets a positive test.
in all honestly, i don't like how either of the cases were handled. i have problems with both. but i also know that in both cases, they were cleared with no significant fault or negligence as the final verdict (i know wada stepped in with jannik but that's still up in the air so for now i'm disregarding that). i have no reason (or desire) to believe either of them intentionally doped. i do think the main reason they were able to "wrap-up" their cases as quickly and efficiently as they did was due in part to their statuses as top level players. but i don't believe that the verdict was subjectively dependent on it. and i can disagree with how the cases were handled, AND i can say that i think all players deserve better treatment in these processes, AND i can still maintain that i trust the verdict of both cases.
shifting focus slightly, i do think there's a reality where organizations like the atp and wta are self-serving. and it sounds really harsh and unsympathetic, but it also makes sense. the atp and wta have responsibilities as associations to promote tennis, to protect it not only as a sport but also as a brand. the atp spent the entire first half of this year basically promoting jannik as the second coming of christ: obviously they're going to shit their pants when they find out about a positive doping test. it's in their best interest to do everything they can to preserve their own image, to only release such information if they had been completely sure of his guilt. and likewise, it was in their best interest to keep that information quiet even once his innocence was ruled. i'll say myself: it didn't feel right to me that it was kept quiet as long as it was. i do think that, once a case has been handled, it should still be released as public information. but i understand why the atp didn't want to release the information, and i understand why they might not care as much if it was someone ranked outside the top 100 or someone who's never won a tour-level tournament. like i said, it sounds harsh and unsympathetic, but that's business. i don't think it's just but i do think it makes sense.
iga getting a split ban is another example of this. granted, i don't know exactly who decides how punishments are implemented, so it's possible that the wta had no involvement this, but i don't think it was coincidental that the split ban allowed her to play at the finals and bjkc. it makes sense for the wta as a brand and an organization to advocate for her to be able to play those events. [VERY IMPORTANT EDIT: not going to delete what i already said for the sake of transparency, but i've been told that this actually was completely coincidental. a player can return to tour after a provisional suspension as soon as they submit an appeal. so iga was suspended, submitted the appeal, returned to play the finals & bjkc, and then was given a one month ban. the provisional suspension also counted towards the ban.] equally, it makes sense for them to release a statement supporting her, even though they are meant to be unbiased.
so it's not fair. it's not just. but it's not a problem with the integrity of the players, it's a problem with whole procedure. but i think too many people are quick to jump at players like iga and jannik, who yes, got off pretty easy, over something which ultimately has very little to do with them. they showcase the symptoms of underlying problems, but they are not the cause of those problems themselves. and people who rush to blame them need to either evaluate the true source and target of that anger, or they need to have a very real conversation about their trust in organizations such as wada and the itia which truly are meant to be just and fair, without awarding that same trust to organizations like the atp and wta whose concerns are far less objective.
#this is not all of my thoughts but maybe the ones that are the most frustrating to me that aren't just yelling about dumb ppl#like. from here i would love to talk about the changes i'd *like* to see#but that's more complicated#i guess the big take away is that there is a fine line when it comes to questioning the integrity of organizations#you have to be able to trust organizations that deal with something like doping (though you can and should still criticize them)#but organizations like the atp and wta........baby they are businesses. they are looking out for themselves. they are trying to make money#i have more thoughts on the iga split ban but they're much more speculative and my goal was to keep this as concrete as possible#you don't have to read this lol this is just me sorting through my opinions and trying to blow off some steam about my frustrations

hello! you seem to know a lot about skincare stuff, so i'm curious what products you use for general daily use? i also have adult acne and it's very annoying. i would also appreciate any lip moisturizing ideas if you have any. thank you, and hope your day's going well!
oh yes! although fair warning that I am not a skincare expert at all (I don't even understand half the lingo that people use when they talk about products lol) so take any of my recommendations with a grain of salt...
other than sunscreen, literally all of the stuff I use is either from paula's choice, the ordinary, or good old cerave. I don't even bother trying other brands at this point because I assume they'll just be overpriced junkâplus, you can get almost all cerave products and a good chunk of the ordinary's products at, like, target. I'd also note that you don't need to (and really should not) go out and buy a million things at once; I have a pretty good arsenal at this point but it took me a couple years to build it up by trying one or two new products at a time and seeing what I like.
both paula's choice and the ordinary have "shop by concern" sections on their websites, so if you want actual targeted advice about what to try then I would definitely defer to them lol. but for some specific examples of what I like:
diehard fan of cerave face soaps. they have a foaming pump and a non-foaming pump, depending on whether your skin is more oily or more dry. I mostly use the latter, but since noelle uses the former I'll occasionally steal a pump of the foamy one if I'm having an oily streak lol.
likewise with cerave moisturizer, specifically for your body, but also works great on your face as a final skincare step. will not make you break out. however (important info incoming!!!) the pump lotion is far inferior to the giant tub of lotionâthe pump stuff is just kind of watery and sad in comparison. get the tub. you deserve it.
the ordinary hyaluronic acid 2% serum is another "help I have dry skin but also acne" lifesaver. you can apply it directly to (damp!!!) skin or (wet!!!) hair or put a couple drops in your lotion for extra-moisturizing lotion. but it works by drawing outside moisture into your skin/hair, so make sure you're not applying it to dry skin/hair or it can backfire and actually dry you out.
paula's choice enriched calming toner = dry skin savior.
for acne specifically, paula's choice pore-reducing toner fucking rules. it's not harsh at all so you can use it as much as you want. pairs well with paula's 5% AHA exfoliant (which only use when I'm really flaky, since it is a little harsh, but you can temper it by applying lotion right after).
the ordinary azelaic acid 10% suspension is a little tingly, so I only use it when I'm actively breaking out (which tbf is often lol), but it's a great at starving out pimples.
from the paula's choice CLEAR line, I looooove the purifying clay mask. I use this one a couple times a week as needed, usually right after I get out of the shower, and then I'll wash it off and do the rest of my face potions as usual. even if my skin is pretty clear I just like how tight and clean everything feels after. I also recently tried the CLEAR 5% benzoyl peroxide daily skin clearing treatment (only because I got it as a free gift... otherwise I would Not have tried a benzoyl peroxide product lmao. bad memories of childhood acne treatment snake oil shit.) and was surprised how much I liked it, although I've been applying it verrry sparingly. the bottle recommends applying it (1) to your entire face and (2) EVERY DAY, but I've had luck using it as a sporadic spot treatment. pairs well with the enriched calming toner.
I've also been using this prescription tretinoin cream off and on for the past year (from the dubious skincare-as-a-service online pharmacy "forhers" lol) and it's Good but not a miracle. my skin is already pretty sensitive so I try not to use it that often, but it would probably work a lot better if it did. also makes you photosensitive as hell so watch out (sunscreen is a must).
specifically for lip moisturizer, nothing beats plain old burt's bees lip balm imo but if you need something heavy-duty I do like the paula's choice lip and body treatment balm. it's a little greasy but has great staying power and the tub lasts forever!
also important to note. you should always do stuff in this order: wash your face (duh) > toner > other stuff > lotion/moisturizer. I know you're supposed to do the "other stuff" in a specific order if you're stacking multiple products but tbh I just kind of wing it lol.

One thing I dislike about the discussion of female characters within jjk is that⊠people praise it too much?
Of course, the bar is low within Shonen, but even then I still think the series gets a bit too much praise for itâs âgoodâ female writing.
For example, Nobara. She honestly have as much depth and narrative importance as Sakura in Naruto. Nobara is just more liked because she can apparently kick-ass and has a bad attitude.
Maki. She started out promising. She started out as someone who canât cooperate with her classmates in jjk 0. But then during the actual series that seems to be revolved. However, with the introduction of Mai, her twin, we are then introduced with a very compelling and nuanced take on twins and subversive of the âgoodâ victim vs âbadâ victim trope. And then the Zenin Massacre Arc happened. Which not only killed off Mai who had huge potential, but basically destroyed Makiâs arc by giving her a power up without Maki actually needing to change or reflect on herself. And also⊠the terrible stereotype of twins within that arc too.
Yuki. Once again, she had promised. She is a Special Grade One sorcerers, but with a very interesting and twisted mind. Sheâs basically like a mad scientist, where she want to see if a world without curse energy is possible. And sheâll see certain things play out even if it means certain people will die, hence why she didnât intervene during the Shibuya arc until the end. And well, we all know what happened to her in the end.
The rest have too little screentime, or not really important to the narrative at the moment. Iâm honestly tired of hearing how âjjk have good female charactersâ when it really doesnât. And they darn to go as far as said that the female are better written than Bleach and AOT??? Iâm sorry, is it because all the female are âstrong, determined, and ass-kickingâ?
Iâm sorry for this, I just wanted to get this off my chest since the fandom seems to praise this aspect of jjk when I believe itâs not deserved. However, that can be me. Whatâs your personal opinions?
I think it's pretty clear I agree with you haha. I don't have a lot to say that I haven't said already, but yeah. JJK's female characters are not even towards the good end of low-bar shonen expectations.
While there are things to critique about AoT's handling of female characters and Bleach too, I think it's wrong to say they, on the whole, have poorly written female characters. They have some badly done ones that are done poorly in a specifically gendered, offensive way (Historia). But they also have really great female characters who are, in some ways, I'd argue better written than many of the male characters within their tier of importance (Gabi, Mikasa, Sasha).
If you were to say, gather the female characters on the whole, AoT definitely has much better written ones on the whole than JJK does, as JJK has just has one relevant female character atm (Maki) and her arc is a mess. (Even if Nobara returns, I don't see how her relevance and arc can be salvaged.) To be fair, though, I guess it depends what aspects are most important to each fan, since the offensive aspect of, say, Historia's arc might conjure stronger feelings than the apathy of JJK's treatment of women.

The Rise of Social Media Use and What Teens Need to Know
With social media consistently becoming more and more popular since its conception and now being used by most Americans daily, we have connected with friends and family better than ever. You get to see what everyone is up to and what their daily life looks like, itâs great! Unfortunately like most things, it has its pros and cons, and knowing the cons can be important to help everyone be more mindful of them, to allow them to not fall for these traps, but to also inform teens just entering this space some important facts and details to help keep them safe on social media.
Setting false standards
With social media, whether youâre seeing posts from friends, family, or others you almost always see those people at their best, always smiling and doing something usually cool or exciting. Something teens about to join any social media app need to learn is no one lives amazingly all the time, we just see highlights. So keeping in mind that we only see what these people want us to see. Learning that and remembering that can be very helpful to combat feelings of depression many face when they see so many others having an amazing time while they are just living a completely normal life. They all have normal lives like all of us.
Problems regarding eating disorders and social media
Another issue caused by social media is an uptick of especially younger individuals suffering from eating disorders. Looking back at the perfectionism many try to display on social media sets the precedence the only way you can look good is if you are skinny to the point of being unhealthy and or have giant muscles all year round. Many times these social media influencers that are so popular use drugs and steroids to make themselves look like that and then tell their fans and followers it was done completely naturally, helping these impressionable teens set impossible goals that can end up being dangerous mentally and physically.
When are teens developmentally ready to handle the large world of social media?
Many studies have come out in the past few years typically saying the same answer to when teens should be allowed on social media. It all depends on the teenâs maturity since some mature sooner than others, but a good rule of thumb is absolutely no social media till they are at least 13 or not until high school.
Conclusion
Social media can be a great tool for everyone to stay in touch with people and also meet new people, for many teens right now it is even more important to them socially with kids their age. But itâs more important for them to wait until they are prepared and ready to handle the possible negative outcomes of social media for their physical and mental well-being. In addition, reviewing what they see on social media might also be beneficial to make sure they arenât falling down any negative rabbit holes that might cause them to create false perceptions on life or themselves. Social media is meant to be fun and it definitely can be! We just have to make sure our teens are ready to handle that new big world!

So I (finally!) bought a pair of really good noise cancelling headphones, and it has changed my life! It's the fanciest thing I've bought in years, so to recoup some of the cost, Iâve researched & written a little essay based on my experiences with extreme noise sensitivity.
Hypersensitivity to sound is something Iâve dealt with all of my life, but I only recently found out it's medically known a Hyperacusis. (Please note this is a separate condition from Misophonia.) If you consistently struggle to cope with noise, the info below could be helpful! Iâm including a link to my ko-fi, and I will be answering questions in the notes.
(skip to the bottom to read fun facts about my tax return and/or street organs vendettas!)
DISCLAIMER: I am not a professional, this is based solely on my experiences as a patient, and on what I have read and been told by professionals. Please notify me if you have corrections or concerns about accuracy!
BACKGROUND: Sensitivity to sound is a common type of sensory issue. While anyone can experience such issues (most people, for example, might be bothered by loud music in a crowded restaurant), some people are more sensitive than others, to the point it becomes a quality-of-life aka a medical issue.
If you consistently struggle with environmental stimuli that other people arenât bothered by (background noises, bright lights, certain textures and tastes, etc), to the point it causes daily discomfort or limits the environments you can be in, I recommend reading about Sensory Processing Disorder.
SPD and sound sensitivity are both super common in autistic folks (like me!), but allistic (non-autistic) people can experience them too. Weep, ye prisoners of mortal coil, for none are safe, nothing sacred, not in this thy most accursed tomb of human flesh!
Anyway.
SOUND SENSITIVITY or HYPERACUSIS: Noise issues are particularly difficult to navigate in a world that is increasingly...noisy. The relatively new phenomenon of constant overhead music in restaurants, grocery stores, shopping malls etcâall of this means that public spaces are increasingly inaccessible to people with auditory issues.*
As a kid, nothing quite triggered sensory overload/meltdowns for me like the constant exposure to noise I couldnât controlâthe background chatter of other kids in the lunchroom, the constant noise in public spaces, being trapped in the car with the radio on.... I had so many fights with my siblings about the car radio, and who got to choose the music.**
But itâs not just loud sounds that are the problem. As an adult who lives alone and works from home***, Iâm lucky enough to be able to avoid loud environments most of the time. This does wonders for my general levels of anxiety and discomfort. But even in a mostly controlled environment, I still experience problems. Because part of sound sensitivity is that even normal or quiet sounds can feel loud and intrusive. Here are some ânormalâ sounds that can cause me discomfort (ranging from annoyance to outright pain, depending on the day):
refrigerator/AC/ceiling lights humming
dishwasher/washing machine noises
ceiling fan making that damn ceiling fan noise
faint sounds of traffic
riding in a car
other people having a normal conversation in the background
someone talking to me in a perfectly normal inside voice
Unfortunately, even in a âcontrolledâ environment, many triggering noises canât be controlled. And many parts of life canât be lived in a controlled environment. This presents...some incredibly freaking annoying problems. Luckily there are solutions!
Sorta.
There are sorta some solutions.
They are imperfect, but they help.
TREATMENT: And now I have something rather shame-faced to admit. In all the years of managing my symptoms, it never once occurred to me to see a hearing specialist for my issues with sound. I wasnât even aware that treatment options exist, because none of my other doctors mentioned it. Instead, Iâve spent years finding my own coping mechanisms and tools, with help from therapists and psychiatrists, but without ever consulting an audiologist/ENT. It was only while researching this post that I found out that was even an option, holy shit.
So it turns out I am going to be making an appointment with my local ENT practice. shit.
Apparently treatment options include sound/acoustic therapy, systematic desensitization/exposure therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, sound machines, and other options that I had no idea even existed, goddammit.
MANAGEMENT: In the meantime, here are my current coping mechanisms. Iâve relied rather heavily on hearing protection, which is very useful when used in moderation. Unfortunately, it can cause its own problems: itâs important not to overuse hearing protection, because in the long-term this can increase your sensitivity. So again: a useful tool, but be careful not to overdo it.
With that in mind, here are some of the coping strategies Iâve used over the last decade to manage my symptoms. This is not a perfect system and you should contact your local ENT clinic for better, long-term solutions, but in the meantime here are some tips I use to just get myself through the damn day:
Regularly spending time in a quiet controlled environment, to allow my nervous system to decompress.
Wearing earplugs, (I use two different grade, depending on the level of noise prevention I need), and always carrying an extra pair in case I need them unexpectedly. I bought a 50 pack for $7 and put spares in all my bags and jacket pockets.
(I mostly use Mackâs Ultra Soft, but there are so many types and materials and brands, including foam, silicone, wax, custom moldable etc. Even if you have trouble wearing things in your ears, you might be able to find something comfortable.)
Similarly: hearing protection earmuffs, the kind used in gun ranges and on construction sites. I bought mine online for $10. they look like normal wireless headphones, so I've never gotten comments when wearing mine in public (other than âcool heaphonesâ bc i added skull glitter stickers).
Sometimes I wear the earmuffs on top of earplugs, when life is just too damn LOUD.
Listening to music w/ earbuds or headphones is a great way to balance out background noises, especially if you can find soothing playlists that help you concentrate. Also useful to put in just one earbud when you need to pay attention in class/at work.
Pro tip: if your hair is long enough you can wear wireless earbuds without anyone knowing.
White noise, rain noises, ocean noises etc can be helpful! Some people like whale songs although personally this activates my primal fear response
Active noise cancelling headphones: the reason I wrote this post to begin withâI finally bought a pair! As in, a really good pair! As in, a depressingly expensive pair with noise cancelling technology that actually WORKS, holy shit. I probably need to wear them a little less at home (bc overprotection causes problems in the longterm) but they have absolutely transformed my ability to go out in public and i never ever want to take these suckers off again please take a power screwdriver and nail these to my head, bury me in the sweet sweet shroud of silence. holy canoli and cream puffs I want to marry form a civil partnership with these headphones. Plus they have a bunch of features, like being able to control the level of noise cancellation, so I can hold a conversation or be aware of some ambient noise for safety reasons.
Oh, and also they play music I guess?
Sorry sorry I promise this post wasnât supposed to be me shilling for Big Electronics. Iâm just excited, Iâm an excited flabby little ball of expired flubber. ANC headphones arenât a perfect solution, and I still sometimes wear earplugs underneath, and I will always be uncomfortable some of the time, but for me itâs been a big step.
Unfortunately the cost of good quality ANC technology means this isnât an option for everyone, and the (much cheaper) gunshot protection earmuffs I mentioned earlier still provide an impressive amount of protection and bang-for-your buck (maybe even an equal amount of protection, if you can find ones that fit well). But if noise consistently prevents you from enjoying public space and life in general, and youâve already tried earmuffs & earplugs and find they donât offer enough comfort/convenience/protection, and if youâre in a position to save up for a one time non-necessity purchase of $150+, noise cancelling headphones are an option to be aware of. (Please always check the return policy so you can try before you buy. I ended up buying and returning 2 pairs before finding what worked best for me. And please look for a retailer that offers an extended warranty. You want those motherforkers to last).
There are cheaper options available, including some under $50. The ones I tried didn't work as well as my hearing protection earmuffs, but some people report good experiences, so that is something to consider. it's always good to know your options! Passive noise canceling is another affordable alternative.
Medication: A final tool in my toolbox, which for me personally has helped as much as every other method combined. Like, a lot, itâs helped a lot. It turns out some anti-anxiety medications can also help sensory issues. Thereâs not much research on this, and I only discovered it firsthand when a medication my doctor prescribed for anxiety ended up significantly helping my sensory issues. I no longer need medication for anxiety, but my psychiatrist still prescribes that same medication off-label for my sensory stuff. Ask your psychiatrist to research your options (they will probably have to do some digging to find relevant research, but you deserve to know all your options, even the obscure ones). Fyi, the medication I use is in the benzodiazepines class, but there are other options for those concerned about dependency or side effects.
(I'm also told anti-anxiety supplements may be helpful, though I haven't tried this yet. If you're on prescription meds, always talk to your doctor about contraindications before taking anything over-the-counter.)
So there you have it, my main coping strategies for sound sensitivity! They are not a replacement for medical treatment (except that last one which is in fact...medical treatment), but I find them helpful and I hope some of you will too! Iâve struggled for a long time, and Iâm very pleased to have reached the point where I can just do things in public. Eating out in loud restaurants? I can do that now, and even enjoy it, holy shit! I can comfortably travel in cars for hours at a time, and walk around shopping malls and grocery stores with overhead music, and, and âand just exist. It is so so freeing, to feel like maybe, after everything, you are actually allowed to just exist in a world that wasnât really designed for you.
Again, be careful not to overuse hearing protectionâthe goal is to allow you to be less uncomfortable and to function better, but if you find you are becoming more sensitive to noise, it is time to dial it back a notch. Or maybe consider listening to music (at a reasonable volume) to block out background noise instead.
*(This also includes people with hearing loss and related issues, btw. While thatâs not my area of knowledge, I would welcome it if any of my HoH followers want to share their experiences.)
**A sign of sensory issues that parents often miss is when a child complains about music being too loudâbut has no problem listening to their own music at high volume. This is because music that is already familiar to the listener (and that the listener enjoys) is much easier for the brain to process, since it knows what pattern of sounds to expect. Loud music that they get to control can be soothing for people with sound issues, especially when it blocks out background noise and sensations. This is why repetitively playing the same songs can be a helpful form of stimming.
***(working on this blog, actually. since itâs my only source of income, my 2020 income tax return literally lists my occupation as âTumblr Blogger.â Oddly, my parent didnât feel this achievement was worth including in the holiday family newsletter.)
bonus fun fact: Charles Babbage aka âfather of the computerâ may have been autistic and hypersensitive to sound. He definitely had a huge problem with public noise pollution, and spent his later year waging a war on street musicians (and organ grinders in particular).
(bc like, yeah. screw organ grinders.)
Sometimes when Iâm out in public and the overhead music is particularly unbearable, Iâll take a moment to look up to the sky and scream out: âHE TRIED TO WARN US! THE FATHER OF COMPUTERS TRIED TO WARN US!!! we should have listened, sweet heaven we should have listened!â
except i donât scream it, i say it very quietly under my breath
(i have issues with noise)
so yeah that is my short essay. and here is the ko-fi goal
k ciao i gotta go pick out glitter stickers for my headphones
#actuallyautistic#not a shitpost#holy shit how did i spend 3 hours writing this what even is my blog#this blog is supposed to be blue whale anxiety and uncomfortably sexy clown jokes#what am i doing#sensory processing disorder#sensory issues#mental health#actually autistic#NOTIFY ME OF ANY TYPOS#i proofread this 5 times my eyes weep an unceasing flood of blood and regret#adhd#actuallyadhd#autism#sensory problems

*TW PERIOD MENTION*
If you're comfortable with this, could you do some hcs for the lords (but mainly moreau) with an s/o who gets HORRIBLE period cramps? Like they're literally writhing in pain and even after they take pain meds it's still miserable. Only do this if you feel comfortable of course, I totally understand if you dont want to do itâ€
Hi, sorry folks, I bumped this to the top of the list, cuz I don't know if it's time sensitive for you, hope it brings comfortâ€ïž (Moreau's will have some extra)
TW: Period Mention, Reader is still Gender Neutral
Alcina Dimitrescu
Ah, she remembers those. She hasn't had to deal with one in a long while, due to her mutation, but even for her the experience was not pleasant.
This, however, looks very different.
Alcina cannot imagine the pain you must be in. You are curled into yourself on the couch, humming in an attempt to distract yourself from the pain, and you might try to hide them but she can see the tear tracks on your face.
Alcina takes care of you. Any of her day to day tasks can and will wait-- you are far more important. She doesn't leave the room unless you ask her to, and the Maids aren't let into the room unless it is to bring HER the things she needs to take care of you.
She will do whatever you need from her, no question. Cuddles, heated blankets, she will even read aloud to you as a distraction. Pro tip--her hands can get pretty chilly, and if you're someone who does well with ice packs, her hands work 100% better to cool off your skin.
Don't worry about her loosing control at the smell of blood--you are obviously in pain and she has far too much self control to let a little bit of blood bother her. (But depending on how hungry her daughters are, they might not be let in the room unless they have fed recently)
She will also use her contact with the Duke to find you a proper doctor. It's not normal for you to be in this much pain. Dearest, it doesn't matter if someone else has said there's nothing more to be done-- she's getting you a competent Doctor to get a second opinion.
Donna Beneviento
Donna is panicking.
Lady Beneviento is stressed the hell out by seeing you in pain--she hates it. You're lying in a pile of blankets on the floor, unable to be even the slightest bit comfortable because of the pain, and in such obvious agony that your hands are shaking.
Still, she's more than ready to make you feel better. Other than pain pills and more traditional treatment, Donna firmly believes in the power of distraction.
She will use books, movies, heck with your permission she might even use the pollen to craft a hallucination for you to help take the pain away.
(Ethan's encounter with the demon fetus was able to cause him enough harm that he felt it, Donna would definitely try to see if she could use her powers to trick your brain into not feeling as much pain)
She will also be attached to you at the hip, if you need space or can't be touched during your period, you need to tell her up front. She'll be very clingy when you are this miserable.
A little self indulgence here: while Donna does like her tea, she makes a KILLER hot chocolate. If chocolate brings you joy during your period, she has a constant, steady supply of it sent up to your room.
Salvatore Moreau
Salvatore engages Doctor mode immediately. For you to be in this much pain is both not normal and completely unacceptable. He's going to do his best to help.
This man absolutely used to be the Village doctor before his mutation, and as a result does Know His Shit. His siblings and mother may infantilize him to a certain degree, but that is mainly because Moreau's main issues are short term memory problems and his obsessive devotion to Mother Miranda that can make him regress. He's still competent as a doctor, and if he needs to reference anything, he still has some copies of medical textbooks.
He was also a Small Town Doctor, meaning he knows how to treat pain without access to traditional medicine, since often times he didn't have access to it.
It doesn't matter if you're not a tea person, you're still getting tea, made with herbs you don't know the name of and couldn't pronounce even if you did.
He doubles this up with more traditional pain relief methods like extra strength ibuprofen and heated compresses on the area. He might even talk you into doing a few exercises--it can help a lot with pain relief.
Still, when he's caring for you, sometimes he has to leave the room. He uses getting you a glass of water or another blanket as an excuse, but it's really so he can take a deep breath and center himself. Moreau is an empathetic man who loves you to pieces, and watching you cry silently into a pillow just...hurts.
Salvatore also does his best to distract you with anything he has on hand, mostly movies. While you two might normally playfully argue about which ones to watch, he will absolutely defer to you. I would recommend taking this time to watch a scary movie if you're a horror fan, there's literally no other time where Moreau would let you get away with it.
He is at your side constantly, and will only give you space if you ask for it. Even then, he will pop back in every few hours to check in.
Now for Fluff stuff: If you're not careful and watch him like he watches you, Moreau will run himself ragged trying to keep you comfortable.
The best solution to preventing this is coaxing him into bed with you. He might let out a couple of token protests, but one look at your pleading face takes all the fight right out of him.
He will cuddle up to you as close as possible and rub little circles into your back or stomach, whatever feels best. If you two are face to face, you can start to feel yourself relax in time with his breathing, and both of you slowly drift off to sleep together.
It's the best you've felt in days â€ïž
Karl Heisenberg
Magnet Man is just... So lost...
You are writhing in agony in your bed, sobbing into a pillow, and so obviously suffering. He HATES to see you like this, because you're hurting and he doesn't know how to fix it.
Karl wants to hurt the things that hurt you, but when it's your own body rebelling against you and causing you pain...He wants to make it better for you but he can't.
He swallowed his pride IMMEDIATELY and called Moreau to the factory. Heisenberg might consider The Lord of the Reservoir to be a little slow in the head, but he used to be a doctor, and Karl is taking zero chances with your health.
He also pops by the Duke to pick up any kind of pain relief possible--Karl literally brings back 8 different brands of acetaminophen, hot water bottles, cocaine, opium, and enough alcohol to give an elephant a blackout. (Maybe he can get you to pass out long enough that you'll sleep through the worst of it?)
You will have to ask directly for cuddles if you want them--as handsy and clingy as Heisenberg is, he is so Bad At Feelings that he will just hover in the corner and work on projects to keep his hands busy. He doesn't know if you want to be touched, and is afraid to ask...but he really wants to keep an eye on you anyway.

Jason and Juno
I just want to talk about them. I have so many feelings and I canât find anyone else that cares about them. But, like, why not?
Because Rick ignored Jason in HoO and I still havenât got my Roman prequels, thatâs why.
I freaking love Jason anyway and I always have. And I admit, reading original PJO, I wasnât the biggest fan of Hera, but we werenât really supposed to be I donât think. But Juno? Nah man, Juno is cool.
Everybody seems to write her off because sheâs Hera and we all know Hera sucks, and obviously Percy and Annabeth donât like Hera so makes sense that we kinda subconsciously take their lead. But Juno is cool - and I will absolutely fight that corner forever. Itâs like, Ares was kinda a dick in many regards, but Mars was a good dad to Frank, Mars was cool too.
Juno was one of the only gods interested in actively helping demigods, particularly her favoured ones, sure, but she still tried to help. And she obviously cared about them too. Not just Jason, it was very evident she liked Leo a lot too (and I love that too). And we know - at least from ToA - that she had a soft spot for Frank too (and honestly who can blame her).
But yeah, so I actually dig Juno in HoO. She helped out, she was awesome, she was actively nice at least to Jason.
So thatâs the first thing to get over. Hate Hera if you want to - but let me convince you that Juno is better. Re-read the books and look for her being nice and cool. Because itâs there.
On top of that though, the relationship between Juno and Jason just makes me so happy and warm. I love it so much, even though I havenât seen anyone else that seems to care.
Jupiter was at least as much of a dick as Zeus was - thatâs something everyone agrees on I think. And I think a lot of us if not everyone can agree that he was a worse dad to Jason than he was to Thalia. And maybe thatâs because he washed his hands of responsibility for him after he gifted Jason to Juno. (Dick move btw.) but either way, he basically ignored Jason his entire life and throughout HoO. He was hands down one of the most distant godly parents of the seven and of a lot of main heroes weâve followed in the seriesâ. So Jason couldnât really depend on him for help or guidance an awful lot and basically felt like he didnât have a father. But at least he had Juno.
Juno was a good patron to him. She helped him where she could. She actively and genuinely cared about him. She tried to make herself available for chats when he needed them as much as she could. Gave him presents (his gladius) and praise when he did well, pep talks for what was ahead. As pseudo foster mothers go, she really wasnât bad. Closest thing Jason had to a parent, and yeah, he couldâve had worse. He did have worse with his alcoholic slightly off the rails actual mother who gave him away, and had worse in a dad who never spoke to him or saw him or lifted a finger to help him until the very last second and who also gave him away. I kinda gotta figure after that kind of treatment from both your actual parents, getting what he got from his patron was probably very appreciated.
And Juno/Hera is the goddess of marriage and family among other things. Throughout the series itâs pretty much her biggest hang up. And obviously she wasnât always the best mother (poor Hephaestus) to her actual kids, but she kinda held Olympus together. Stopped them all tearing each other apart. Family was important to her and something she valued. Obviously she hated when her husband cheated on her and had someone elseâs kids. Honestly? Thatâs pretty reasonable to be unhappy about. But she watched the rest of her family, literally forever, having kids willy nilly when they wanted to. Obviously Artemis didnât, but she didnât want kids and she had the hunters so thatâs fine. For someone that loves family so much, itâs very possible she couldâve been a little envious of everyone else having huge families. She still had her Olympian family, but maybe she wouldâve liked to have some demigods of her own, if it didnât involve cheating which she just wonât do. She favoured original Jason and was his patron too, so she was happy enough to adopt them, but it still wasnât something she did often. So she didnât get a lot of mortal kids and mightâve felt like she was missing out. But at least she had Jason.
So, being given another little adopted demigod, hell yeah she probably loved mothering him. He was totally her kid. He didnât have any parent or family to be there for him, she didnât have any demigod kids of her own and knew she never will. Thatâs hella cute that they can adopt each other.
Everyone loves found families lately - well this is basically that. Kinda forced at first but doesnât mean they wouldnât grow to love each other. They helped each other, could depend on each other. Juno is literally the patron of Rome as well. So even if Jason hadnât known from the off that heâd been given to Juno, heâd have still had the sense that she had his back along with the rest of Rome, so he mightâve asked for a little help or guidance before HoO, maybe while he was Praetor too. And Juno being New Romeâs patron wouldâve probably kept an eye over Camp Jupiter and especially when Jason rose to Praetor she couldâve been paying more attention to him from then. Watched out for him during the Titan War.
I want to know more about them. Especially if Jason was fully aware that she was his patron the whole time before HoO. I want them to have had some sort of relationship. I want them to like each other at least a little. Nico and Hades got closer eventually. Percy and Poseidon (and honestly a bunch of the gods) got on well. Mars adored Frank. Aphrodite seems pretty cuddly with her kids in general. I donât think itâd be a terrible stretch for Juno and Jason to have each otherâs backs.
I want to know if Jason ever made offerings for her along with Jupiter. Burnt food at CHB for her as well as his dad.
I want to know if Juno ever helped him out on earlier quests at all, whether he knew it or not. If she ever gave him and maybe Reyna too, sort of a Praetor deal, counsel.
I want to see Juno fully lean into having Jason as her favourite, as her chosen hero. I want to see her lend some power to him when he needs it. I want to see Jason with the Blessing of Juno. How many demigods wouldâve ever gotten that? Thatâs unheard of. I want it for him. I want to see him marching on Mount Othrys to take down Krios and topple the throne, not with the blessing of Jupiter (although I would also love to see him with that, that would be so cool!) but with the blessing of Juno, patron of Rome. I wanna see him monologuing Krios into intimidation like he did to the giants: I'm the son of Jupiter, I'm a child of Rome, consul to demigods, praetor of the First Legion. I slew the Trojan sea monster, I have the blessing of Juno: Patron of Rome. And she also happens to be my stepmom, dick.
I talked about it in another post before, him getting her blessing. Supposedly with her Roman counterpart sheâs supposed to be militaristic, strategic, etc. A blessing from his dad would be like an explosion of power, donât get me wrong. Itâd be like Thor in Infinity War. Magnificent. He could totally burst into the palace and fry Krios and destroy the throne. But I think itâd also be pretty damn awesome if he got zapped with her blessing and became like the ultimate military leader (kind of like Frank with Marsâ blessing I suppose, but more strategic instead of hitting the protein shakes), leading the troops in the invasion and being a total Praetor before he even became Praetor.
Side note: Itâs probably not possible but can you imagine if he got blessings from both of them?? I doubt you can have two at a time, but that would be spectacular if he did. Especially from Jupiter and Juno. He would be incredibly powerful, no wonder the Legion made a big deal out of him in the early part of the series. Always was a little disappointed we never got to see cool Roman Jason. I love Jason, I do, but he wasnât exactly what we heard about in The Lost Hero and Son of Neptune. It never felt like we saw his full potential. So Iâm just gonna sit in my corner and dream it up instead lol.
Anyway, this was purely for me because I have a lot of feelings about these two and I couldnât find anything about them at all or not anything positive. But if anyone else likes them or has ideas or there is stuff you can point me to, please do, I want to get involved in it and find people that are into this so bad!

Reparative Reading
I would love, and indeed have been meaning for a long time, to talk about a piece of academic writing from one of my favourite theorists that I think has an ongoing relevance. This is Eve Kosofsky Sedgwickâs âParanoid Reading and Reparative Reading,â first published in the mid-to-late 1990âs and compiled in her 2003 monograph, Touching Feeling. Thereâs a some free PDFs of it floating around (such as here) for those who want to read it in full â and I would recommend doing so, despite its density in places, because Sedgwick has a marvelous critical voice.
Sedgwickâs topic of contention in this essay is the overwhelming tendency in queer criticism to employ what she thinks of as a paranoid methodology â that is, criticism based around the revelation of oppressive attitudes, and that sees that revelation not only as always and inherently a radical project, but the only possible anti-oppressive project. This methodology is closely related to what Paul Ricoeur termed the âhermeneutics of suspicionâ and identified as central to the works of Marx, Nietzsche, and Freud, which were all progenitors of queer criticism. Sedgwick objects to the fact that the hermeneutics of suspicion had, at her time of writing, become âsynonymous with criticism itself,â rather than merely one possible critical approach. She questions the universal utility of the dramatic unveiling of the presence of oppressive forces, pointing to the function of visibility itself in perpetuating systemic violence, and identifying the work of anti-oppression as one based in a competition for a certain type of visibility. She also rejects the knowledge of the presence of oppression alone as conferring a particular critical imperative, instead posing the question, âwhat does knowledge do?â
As an example, Sedgwick critiques Judith Butlerâs commentary on drag in Gender Trouble, one of the works that she uses as an example of a reading based in a paranoid approach. She identifies Butlerâs argument that drag foregrounds the constructed aspect of gender as a paranoid approach, due to its focus on revelation of structures of power and oppression, and she finds Butlerâs argument lacking in its neglect in acknowledging the role that joy and community formation play in the phenomenon of drag. Near the end of the essay, she also does an example of a reparative reading of the ending of Proustâs In Search of Lost Time, claiming that the narratorâs remove from the traditional familial structure and its temporality is precisely what confers his particular moment joy and insight upon discovering that his friends have aged. Broadly, Sedgwick rejects the implication that readings based in joy, hope, or optimism are naĂŻve, uncritical, or functionally a denial of the reality of oppression.
Now, itâs important to note that the message of this essay is not that paranoid readings are bad, and reparative readings are good. Sedgwick is drawing on a body of affect theories (most prominently Melanie Kleinâs) that posit the reparative impulse as dependent on and resulting from the paranoid impulse â reparation by definition is something that can only occur after some kind of shattering, and Kleinian trauma theories generally posit that process as something that produces a new object or perspective than pre-trauma. (Something I love about Sedgwick is that she often sets up these binaries that seem at odds with each other, but end up being mutually dependent.) Furthermore, the critical tradition in queer studies that Sedgwick is critiquing in this essay is one that was itself, in many ways, a manifestation of communal trauma, particularly with the impact of the AIDS crisis. Sedgwick herself acknowledged this last point in a later essay, âMelanie Klein and the Difference Affect Makes,â claiming that she didnât feel she did a good enough job of identifying the AIDS crisis as a driving force behind this trend. So Sedgwick is not discounting the utility of paranoid readings, but rather rejecting the notion that they ought to encompass all of criticism. (In fact, a running theme in Touching Feeling is her representation of various perspectives and methods as sitting beside one another, rather than hierarchically.) And reparative reading, as Sedgwick portrays it, is not the denial of trauma or violence, but a possibility for moving forward in its wake.
Why am I taking the time to outline all of this? Because, while the original essay was written almost 25 years ago, with the academic community in mind, it reflects a similar pattern that I see now in online fandom.
Queer fandom (as thatâs what I feel the most qualified to talk about) has a considerable paranoia problem. Queer fandom is brimming with traumatized people who carry varying degrees of personal baggage and are afflicted by the general neuroses that come from existing in a heterosexist, cissexist society. And many people in fandom have been repeatedly burned by the treatment of queer people in media â Bury Your Gays, queerbaiting, queercoded villains, etc. And in such a media landscape, and within such a communal sphere, much of fandom has developed the kind of âanticipatory and reactiveâ method of media criticism that Sedgwick identifies in this essay.
Fandom gets very excited for new media, certainly, and is prone to adulation of media that seems to fit its ideological beliefs. But it is also very quick to hone in on any potential representative flaw, and use that as a vehicle for condemnation. (This cycling between idealization and extreme, bitter jadedness has been widely commented on). Not only is there a widespread moralistic approach in fan criticism that is very invested in deeming whether or not a piece of media is harmful or not, âproblematicâ or not, within a simplistic binary framing, but that conclusion is so frequently the end of the conversation. âThis is problematic,â âthis is bad representation,â âthis falls into this tired and harmful trope,â etc, is treated as the endpoint of criticism, rather than a starting point. This is the spectacle of exposure that Sedgwick critiques as central to the paranoid approach â simply identifying the presence of oppressive attitudes in a text is not only treated as an analytic in and of itself, but as the only valid analytic. So often I have seen people jump to take the most pessimistic possible approach to a piece of media, and then proceed to treat any disagreement with that reading as in and of itself a denial of structural homophobia, as naĂŻve, and as not being a critical enough reader/viewer. âBeing criticalâ itself has been taken on as a shorthand for this particular process, which many others have commented on as well.
Now, again, I want to stress that taking issue with this totalizing impulse is not discounting the legitimate uses of identification and exposure, or even of reactivity and condemnation. There are particular contexts in which these responses have their uses â in Sedgwickâs words, âparanoia knows some things well and others poorly.â But that approach has a finite scope. And rejecting the universal application of this particular analytic does not itself constitute a denial of the existence of oppression, or its manifestation in media and narratives. Nor is it about letting particular works âoff the hookâ for whatever aspects they may have that are worthy of critique. Rather, itâs a call to acknowledge that other critical approaches exist, and that the employment of a more optimistic approach is not necessarily a result of ignorance or apathy about the existence of oppression. It is one that invites us not to lay aside paranoia as an approach, but recognize that it has limited applicability, and question when and how our motives might be better served by another approach. Â
I think that âis this homophobic, yes or no?â or âis this good representation, yes or no?â are reductive critical approaches in and of themselves. But I think thereâs also room for acknowledgment that not everything needs to be read through a revelatory lens regarding societal oppression at all. Rather than âwhat societal attitudes does this reflect back?â being the approach, I think there could be a good bit more âWhat does this do for us? What avenues of possibility does this have?â I think thereâs already been leanings in this direction with, for example, the reclaiming of queercoded villains, with dialogues that treat those characters not as reflections of societal anxiety and prejudice, but rather as representative of joy and freedom and possibility in their rejection of norms and constraints. Iâd like to see that approach applied more broadly and more often.
Letâs try to read more reparatively. Â

Zutara. My otp since I first watched as a 10 year old in 2005. Hopefully you'll be kind to them đ I'm convinced they'll be cannon in the live action đ
Alright... *starts digging grave*, I think Katara and Zuko have a wonderful platonic relationship and for them to have a romantic relationship would (1) undermine Zukoâs redemption arc and (2) undermine the found family aspect of their friendship. I donât have an issue with anyone who ships Zutara and I do not engage in shipping drama, but I think their platonic relationship is too damn important to favor a romantic relationship I don't really think has chemistry.Â
Personally, I have never gotten romantic vibes from them like... at all? I think the progression of their friendship was important in terms of the showâs themes of forgiving those who deserve it and finding support in people you least expect, but I just donât get chemistry from them. Iâve always been a Kataang fan but how I feel about Zutara has nothing to do with that. Avatar is one of those shows where I would have been totally fine with it ending with no romantic pairings because the found family aspect of it is so much more powerful.Â
If anyone has spent 5 seconds on my blog, you know that Zuko is my favorite character and I think he deserves nothing but love and support after all the shit he went through. But a big aspect of why I care about him as a character is that he put the work in to make amends. He didnât just show up one day saying âIâve seen the error of my ways, sorry for all the stuff I did, Iâm good nowâ and that was that. He had to work for forgiveness and he did it because he realized the fire nation was wrong, his father was wrong, and he was wrong. His decision to switch sides had nothing to do with any connection with the gaang because he didnât really know them. His decision to switch sides stemmed from 3 very important things:Â
(1) He felt guilty not for betraying Aang and Katara in Ba Sing Se, but Iroh. He realized his uncle was the person who had given him unconditional love while Azula and Ozaiâs âloveâ for him was entirely dependent on his ability to provide them results. From this guilt, he was able to realize that his uncle had made the right decision in siding with the Avatar and more importantly, that Ozai was wrong and that all the abuse he endured under him was undeserved.Â
(2) His experiences in the Earth Kingdom as a refugee. This post explains it really well, but Zukoâs realization that everything heâs believed about the Fire Nation has been wrong is rooted in his moment of empathy with Song and her matching burn scar, his empathy with Lee who lost his brother like Zuko lost Lu Ten, his empathy with Jet who lost his way going to extremes for a cause, and, yes, his empathy with Katara whoâs mother was taken from her by the Fire Nation like his was. The reason he switches sides is because after all of those experiences, he can no longer be callous or unfeeling towards the Earth Kingdom like his father or sister. The people of the Earth Kingdom either empathized with him for the pain he went through and appreciated him for his desire to help the helpless (Song, Lee, Jet) or feared and hated him for being part of a country that caused their suffering (Lee, Leeâs mom, Jet, Katara). Throughout season 2, Zuko realized the extent of what the war meant for the other side.Â
(3) The realization of the extents his father would go to and the truth about Ozaiâs amorality. This point is kind of just the culmination of everything in the last two points, but all that set up comes to fruition when Zuko attends the war meeting where Ozai decides to use Sozinâs Comet to commit genocide. By this point heâs racked with guilt over what he did to Iroh, heâs empathized with people who have suffered and is coming to terms with the fact that itâs not only the people of the earth kingdom that have unnecessarily suffered because of Ozai, but him as well. In that meeting, he expresses adoration for the Earth Kingdom being proud and strong and Ozaiâs response is to burn it to the ground. Itâs the same treatment he gave Zuko at the Agni Kai when he stuck to his morals and refused to fight and was met with abject cruelty. At that meeting, Zuko realizes that his father is wrong and that he was always wrong. He realizes that millions of people will suffer at the hands of this man who is so incredibly wrong and lacking in empathy.Â
SO, keeping all that in mind. His redemption arc doesnât stop when he switches sides, it keeps going as he makes individual amends with Aang, Sokka, and Katara. It keeps going as he learns from the dragons, as he chooses what he believes in over his girlfriend, as he risks his life to protect the gaang from Azula, and as he tries to help Aang, Sokka, and Katara find emotional closure in different aspects. He helps Aang overcome his fear of firebending. He helps Sokka regain his honor. And he helps Katara address her grief regarding her motherâs death. These four episodes are some of the best in the series because itâs not just Zuko working to make amends because he wants them to trust him, but itâs him empathizing with their trauma, their guilt, and their fear of failure because heâs been there.Â
Alright, thatâs a whole essay regarding why Zukoâs redemption arc works, now what does this have to do with Zutara? Hereâs the deal: if any aspect of Zukoâs decisions for his redemption were influenced by romantic attraction to Katara, it would undermine the meaning of his choices for him. He made the choices to be better because he empathized with a nation of people who needlessly suffered. He made the choices to be better because he learned to cut himself off from the need to please his abusive father and accept the unconditional love of his uncle. His choice to help Katara find her motherâs murderer stemmed from empathy and his desire to be better than the people who hurt him and hurt others. The reason Kataraâs resentment towards him hurt him so much was because he was trying so hard to be better than the people that were feared and hated. Katara treated him like Leeâs mom and Jet did when they realized he was a firebender (that being said, Katara was justified since Zukoâs decision to side with Azula resulted in the fall of Ba Sing Se and nearly resulted in Aangâs death), and he didnât want to be that person. He didnât want to be hated or feared anymore and he was willing to do anything to move past being viewed like that. So Kataraâs decision to finally forgive him? Itâs the point where she realizes heâs able to empathize with her over his motherâs death where her motherâs killer could not. She realized that he was different and had changed because he put the work in. And thatâs huge for his redemption, not for any kind of forming relationship because thatâs not the point.Â
Now, concerning the whole found-family aspect I love so much? Zutara as a romantic pairing would undermine the beauty of Zukoâs ability to find a loving, supportive group of people that he was missing his entire life. Katara does not work as a romantic partner for Zuko because she works as his replacement sister. The fact is that Zukoâs actual family experience was founded on fear and not love, but the idea of âusefulnessâ. Zuko and Azula were only valued by Ozai so much as they were useful to him, which is why he favored (not loved) Azula, she was useful to him and Zuko wasnât until he âslayed the Avatarâ. Iroh (and Ursa for a time) was the only person who showed him unconditional love and support, but that wasnât enough to snap him out of the need to please Ozai. Zuko rooted his entire self worth in what his family thought of him and engaged in very self-destructive behavior throughout season 1 to prove himself because he âdidnât want [his] father to think [he was] worthlessâ. Even throughout season 3, he still thinks that his uncleâs love for him is conditional (âmy uncle hates me I I know itâ) until heâs proven otherwise because thatâs what heâs been taught. So him joining the gaang, thatâs the first time in his life heâs really met with the concept of people liking him for himself, not for his ability to be useful (his family, Jet) or because they think heâs someone heâs not (Song, Lee, Jin). Heâs met with friendship: people making fun of him in a playful way instead of tearing down his insecurities and vulnerabilities (âmind if I watch you too jerks do your jerkbending?â âso all we need to do is make Zuko angry, that should be easy enoughâ, âlook, itâs baby Zuko!â, âactually I think [the play portrayal] is pretty spot-onâ), people trying to help him fix his problems (âyou need to go back to the original sourceâ) instead of making him feel weak for not being able to solve those problems in the first place, and showing him express appreciation and encouragement (âyouâre pretty smartâ, âto Zuko, who knew after all the times he tried to snuff us out, today heâd be our heroâ, âIâm going with Zuko!â). And thatâs so. Damn. Important for his ability to heal after how he was treated for his entire life. Heâs introduced to the idea that people want him to be around and they want to include him in their circle for being him. Up until the finale, he doesnât know if heâll be able to reconcile with Iroh or if Iroh will accept his forgiveness, but these people have given him a home in their group and heâs not afraid or insecure around a group of people for the first time in his life.Â
And thatâs why Katara has to be the one to defeat Azula: because Azula couldnât be the sister Zuko had and Katara could be. Itâs a tragedy that Zuko and Azula were driven apart by Ozai pitting them against each other, the corruption of firebending throughout the ages so itâs regarded for its power rather than its energy, and Azulaâs own insecurities and fears of losing power because, like Zuko once did, she only considers herself to be worth anything so long as sheâs better than him. The abuse he endured had an effect on her to because so long as she saw that Ozaiâs âloveâ for Zuko was conditional, that meant that his âloveâ for her was conditional as well (âyou canât treat me like Zuko!â). Zuko and Azula could never support each other and they could never trust each other in the way that Sokka and Katara could. They wouldnât sacrifice anything for each other because they were conditioned to survive, to leave behind the lesser sibling in order to get ahead. But at the Agni Kai, Zuko jumps in front of the lighting for Katara because unlike Azula, she has supported him since she forgave him and is there to back him up. She thinks he can be Firelord and she thought his uncle could forgive him in a way that Azula just never could. And thatâs why Katara has to be the one to defeat Azula. Not because of any romantic attraction for Zuko, but because heâs protected Aang and Sokka and her and Toph and their little found family. Itâs because heâs one of them. So in that moment where Azula is defeated, screaming and sobbing because sheâs lost and that means that sheâs the weaker sibling, sheâs gone and itâs tragic. Zuko looks upon her and he wishes it didnât have to be like this, but it is and itâs tragic. It didnât have to be how it was but it did and it was awful and Azula is left broken, hating her brother with murderous fury. But heâs not alone.
He has a new sister who will protect him and fight for him when heâs lost his own.Â
(addition: I want to make it clear that this does not mean I think Azula is irredeemable. Her actions and outlook are 100% a product of Ozaiâs abuse, as I explained. I do not think thatâs sheâs beyond redemption, but by the finale she was still a villain and her goal was still to kill her brother so she could be Firelord. Thatâs not to say that she couldnât have eventually healed and been able to reconcile with him, but by the final Agni Kai thatâs not where their relationship was. The fact that she and Zuko had a toxic relationship was not her fault, but they still had a toxic relationship built on distrust and competition where Zuko and Kataraâs friendship was built on support and protection. I am entirely sympathetic towards Azula, but just because she was redeemable doesnât mean she was redeemed and just because there was potential for her and Zuko to eventually have a better relationship doesnât mean that they did by the end of the series.)Â

You know him, you either love or hate him (or are moderately confused by my sudden dive into this hyperfixation); we're talking about Orko because I have a lot of feelings.
As a disclaimer, I am not gonna claim to be some kind of superfan. I am not aware of every single iteration of the lore and all of its secrets. I don't know anything about the DC comics. I'm only halfway through the 2002 series as of me writing this. I am not someone you want to have discussions on the wider Masters of the Universe.... universe with. However, after watching Revelation, the entire Filmation He-Man (and some of She-Ra, cause he was there too), and going on a deep dive of storybooks, annuals, and minicomics courtesy of He-Man.org and the lovely people who submitted their scans there, I do feel pretty qualified to at least talk about Orko.
So, with all that being said, I'd like to get into a little bit of backstory, if only for my followers who came to this blog for completely different things and are wondering where the hell my love for this funky little wizard dude came from all of a sudden. Truth is, Orko is actually one of my earliest faves! Mind you, I only had limited access to Masters of the Universe as a kid, only seeing a couple of rented VHS tapes and later getting my hands on a small pile of the Golden Books from Goodwill, but apparently it was enough for Orko to  imprint himself into my brain. However, also due to my limited exposure, he kind of got shifted to the back of my head as I got deeper into other things. I still knew for a fact I liked Orko a lot though, even if I couldn't quite remember why anymore.
And then Masters of the Universe: Revelation dropped on Netflix. I'm not gonna get into my opinions of that show lest I open a flood of irrelevant discourse (for those uninitiated, it is a bit... divisive, to say the least). However my feelings on the matter did encourage me to go and watch the original and well, holy shit I love Orko more now than I could have ever comprehended as a kid. He is THE quintessential underappreciated comic relief character I tend to gravitate towards, and then some.
But before I get into that, let me back up a bit and explain. Orko is a Trollan, a race of magical little dudes that are basically floating sweaters with hats and covered up faces. Out of these Trollans, Orko is an incredibly fucking OP archmage. Like, they straight up call him Orko the Great, he's so powerful. But then, he gets caught in a freak storm that whisks him away from his home dimension and into Eternia. Immediately, he runs into a young Prince Adam, who is trapped in a swamp/tar pit and needs rescuing. Orko, being the upstanding lad that he is, uses his magic to save him but in the process loses the item that allows him to focus his magic to the swamp (in the 80s version, it's a medallion, but in the 2002 series, it's a wand). Worse yet, the magic (and dare I say the very laws of physics) in Eternia works pretty much the opposite as it does in Trolla, so he's been incredibly nerfed.
So basically, Orko is trapped in a topsy-turvy world away from friends and family, a world with magic he is fundamentally incompatible with. Ouch. He's not completely screwed, however, as he is rewarded by the king and queen for his heroism and appointed... the court jester. Double ouch. He surprisingly doesn't seem to mind though. He genuinely does enjoy entertaining people, even when his tricks only ever work like half the time because he's basically a Mac program trying to run on a Windows computer.
It's not all horrible though, as he does quite literally get adopted by the royal family  and thus sort of become the entire palace's weird son/little brother (despite being older than many of them. He's very, very child-coded largely for the purposes of being a stand-in and example lesson to the actual children watching). But also, more importantly, he becomes one of the very select few to know that Adam and He-Man are one and the same.
But outside of secret-keeping, he is actually a pretty valuable ally to have against Skeletor and his dudes because even though his magic is kind of screwed up, when it does work, he's still one of the most powerful mages on Eternia. In various materials, he's created floods, a second winter, and hell, he can literally explode himself and still be perfectly fine. He's also really clever and can weasel his way out of a number of situations. In one episode, for instance, he manages to convince someone that he's He-Man and Adam is his "assistant" in order to free him from captivity so the day has a better chance of actually being saved. Â He's also got the ability to just be really frustrating and incomprehensible to the point that villains who capture him sometimes either don't want him or don't know what to do with him anymore, which is honestly really funny. In an episode of She-Ra, the villains tried to scan his brain but because the inner machinations of his mind are that much of an enigma, he got diagnosed a weirdo and broke the entire machine. Absolutely delightful.
However, there's a lot more to Orko than just comedy and bungled magic. He's actually surprisingly complex!
See, going into this, I expected Orko's whole situation be played entirely for laughs while the sadder implications of his existence go entirely unaddressed. Coming off the heels of characters like Cobalt and others I enjoy, I'm used to this sort of treatment by writers. But they actually don't do that. The depressing subtext is for once, actually TEXT, which was INCREDIBLY surprising to me. We actually get to see another side of him, a side that hates that he can't be taken seriously no matter what he does, a side that is well aware of all the trouble he causes and feels like a burden to those around him. He actually runs away on multiple occasions, fully believing that he's unloved and everyone would be better off without him, even if that couldn't be further from the truth (a point which the Sorceress hammers home with multiple straight up magical video presentations, and in the 2002 series, a literary adaptation, of why he is loved and important).
Underneath all the hyping himself up that he does, there's a lot of insecurity. He's someone who desperately wants to be loved and respected and feels that without funny magic tricks to entertain people, he has no inherent value (which is incredibly relatable if you are also known by people as The Funny One). At one point he agrees with the notion that he doesn't feel like much more than a pet, which is absolutely heartbreaking. Even when he gets the ability to go back and forth between Eternia and Trolla, his feelings of inadequacy now extend toward his family, worrying that his own uncle, the one who taught him everything he knows and greatly contributed to him being Orko the Great back home in the first place, wouldn't be proud of him. Being on Eternia highkey wrecked his shit, man.
However, even when given the opportunity to go back home for good, he always chooses to stay because he's loyal as hell. Even if he needs some reminders, he does know he's needed not just in the fight against evil, but just because his friends and newfound family genuinely love him. It's heartbreaking, but also incredibly wholesome. I did not even remotely expect a comic relief character like this to get this much depth and respect from the writers, especially not from the incredibly campy and cheaply animated 80s series. I am genuinely so unused to this.
But I think that's also what separates him a bit from his fellow Silly Kid Appeal Characters That Kids Fucking Hate ala Snarf Thundercats or Scrappy Doo. He not only makes a concerted effort to be an actually useful ally, but he's also in fact very self-aware of his status as one of these characters. He knows he screws up a lot but he actually tries to accept responsibility and fix it. It makes me wanna root for the lil dude. Now I understand if someone isn't a fan of the brand of humor he brings to the table, or feel like he's simply a distraction from the Cool Buff Dudes Fighting Each Other, but I hope you can see why he might also be a really appealing character to other people, both kids and adults alike. I mean, he was popular enough to be embedded into the canon despite originating from the cartoon and not the toyline for a reason, after all.
Orko is a fun, entertaining, but also complex, heartwarming, and relatable character. I know there is a faction of people that would disagree with me, but I don't think you need to change him all that much or make him a super serious character to be more appealing. He's already got a lot going on that a writer could easily work with. It all just depends on where you decide to focus. Take a lesson from the show and accept that he's fine just the way he is.
#kateh rambles#a defense of orko (aka 'i can't believe the subtext is actually TEXT this time')#i feel like there's more i could say but i can't get my thoughts organized let alone enough to have it flow with the rest of this#so there could be a part 2 at some point? maybe? i don't know#orkoposting

Things that made watching Transformers (2007) easier and even enjoyable:
[note: B'verse gets the treatment that it gets by fandom for good reasons. There are tons of posts that dissect the bullshit of these movies far better than my second-language-english-non-american self could ever tackle, so I am not doing that, or plan on doing that. But if I decide that I'll get through every continuity of the franchise I will find a way to make it fun for myself. And so, this is my search for golden nuggets in these movies, because they did bring in new fans to the franchise and that's why we have other continuities that we might not have otherwise. Credit where it's due, and some positivity for those that did find B'verse at least amusing if nothing else. ]

Frenzy
Anytime Frenzy was on screen made me smile because his movements and personality were hilarious, he is just so expressive despite looking like someone super glued a bunch of knifes together. I wouldn't know it was Frenzy if I didn't go to the Wiki, but no matter that, he was funny and that's what matters.
The original Cybertronian robot modes
We don't see them for long, but the glimpses were glorious. Just look at Optimus
Gorgeous. What I wouldn't give to see the details up close. Maybe I'll go looking eventually, but this is just so nice.
We also get a "sexily rises from the pool" scene with Ironhide (probably unintentional and I am biased due to being a robofucker. In any case, very very nice and Cybertronians look so good as aliens)
"Excuse me, are you the Tooth Fairy?"
You see this kid?
This little girl was the only human I cared about in the movie until I saw just how badass Mikaela is, and how cool the military dude is. I don't like kids, but I would lay down my life for this girl.
This one scene just makes me think of what would happen if her parents showed up way earlier. Ironhide would be her guardian and it would be both adorable and hilarious because "Honey, you have to drive in a sentient alien that looks just like our car because the goverment men said so or there will be consequences and potential alien threats."
There are so many joke potentials there; the cultural barrier, the "I am the ine that is supposed to keep her safe" glaring contests, there is just so much shenanigans that could happen.
Also, tea party with the kid. Tea party with the kid.
Sam Witwicky actually reacts like an average human would when faced with the situations he finds himself in
Do I like Sam Witwicky? No, he is the kind of character that I would want to punch irl because of his personality and actions. He is disgusting. But watching him scamper and scream and stutter when faced with giant metal robot aliens that can squish him like a bug? Good, that was a beliavable reaction and I enjoyed it a great deal.
Megatron. Just, âšMegatronâš
(the best screenshot of the few I could take while watching, no, I am not going back for a better one, he looks perfect like this)
I also laughted at how they kept him frozen like a popsicle. And not even well, like, they COULD'VE made an actual freezer and pop him in instead of using those couple of tubes just so he was displayed for all personell to gawk at. HE CRASHED IN THE ANTARCTIC!
The design looks so good, because it looks ALIEN and POINTY and AGH!!! The colors? There are no colors that would make him stand out, he looks like someone opened a cutlery drawer, mixed up what's inside, threw in some extra knifes for a good measure and then shook the whole thing until this guy materialized from the pile. It is both incredibly annoying and satisfying.
đȘ
Mr. Welker did an amazing job with his voice, I don't know what the directions were, but oh man it sure sent shivers down my spine. That is the kind of voice that spells "You are going to die" and I already have my coffin picked out.
EDIT: SO APPARENTLY! IT WAS NOT WELKER THAT VOICED MEGATRON.
It was Hugo Weaving, and yes the man did am amazing job, but I apologize a million times, I was CERTAIN that THE OG VA OF MEGATRON WOULD ALSO HAVE VOICED MEGATRON. LIKE, OKAY BAY, OKAY!
đȘ
LOOK AT THE AMOUNT OF ICE! With how quick he came back fully online once Frenzy turned off the freeze liquid tubes, I bet he was half awake through the whole thing. Systems just below idling or something, in any case, AGENTS YOU ARE SO DUMB! WHO WAS GIVING SUBPAR FUNDING TO THEM, THEY BETTER BE FIRED!
I also was glad that Sam refused to call him by the name the sector asigned to him, despite Megatron being in stasis. And that he insisted they use the correct name. Good job Sam, acknowledge the threat by the actual name and show respect to a fellow sentient lifeform. Even though said lifeform is hellbent on destruction of the universe and your world.
ALSO, AND I CANNOT STRESS THE LAUGHTER AND AMUSEMENT HERE; the sheer DISRESPECT! They don't disassemble Megatron's corpse. No, these idiots, these absolute morons decide to dump him into the ocean, letting him sink to the lowest possible point (not sure if they did say it was the M' Trench or not), where there are proper freezing temperatures - good! You're learning, good job!! - just... In full. Full corpse. What's left of him. Just blup! Down with the fishies he goes!
I understand that they probably didn't know how to approach Optimus about it, but... At least behead the guy. He came back ONCE, who is to say he won't come back again?! Safety precautions my dears.
They also completely disregard what a giant extraterrestrial metal alien rusting away on the bottom of the ocean could do to the ecosystem at large. Like, I find this incredibly amusing, because this ISN'T something most folks think about when watching a movie but we have giant squids down there. We have so much weird things down there, the ocean isn't even fully explored AND YOU WANT TO CHUCK AN ALIEN CORPSE DOWN THERE?!
Now the real question: is he a looker? *looks at the pictures* hmmmm, depends on if you like knifes. Like, really like knifes. Like really, really REALLY want to get it on with a fine assembly of kitchen knifes that were exposed to the elements but somehow haven't rusted away completely.
I think he's neat.
Needs a good long powerwash though. Preferrably with something to help the whole "I was frozen for more than 50 years and sprang back to action as soon as I woke up" thing that happened.
My man needs to take a moment and get his bearings, like dude. Please. You can conquer the world after some energon and slow system boot-up period. The strain on the systems my dude, you ain't young.
Also love that this "death" was probably reused in TFP because lord golly, do we love our faves ending up under the sea. (Though Megan took a much bigger fall, Bayverse WAS PLOPPED INTO THE WATER LIKE A NEWLY ACQUIRED FISH I CAN'T YOU GUYS I CAN'T!)
In short: I love the comedy of american military giving such disrespect to an Alien Warlord. These guys are really sealing their fate.
I loved the way they got the Witwicky family to be important to the plot
The whole "selling my great great grandpa's glasses on e-bay" thing gives us a very good self insert/OC/rewrite/movie AU potential. Don't like Sam and his disgustingness? Find a way to write a cousin or some far off relative or hell, even just someone who buys the glasses off e-bay and go wild with it!
Archibald was also clearly an inspiration for Isaac Sumdac as far as I can tell, what with both of them using Megatron as a means of helping technology advance.
Only difference being one of them lived and actually talked to Megatron after he came back online and the other got driven to madness and death due to the amount of information beamed into his brain. Isaac also acquired a space baby daughter, so the guy is absolutely luckier of the two.
Mikaela being fucking competent and badass throughout the movie, and not being just fanservice eyecandy
I could do without the fanservice, but her personality? I loved it. I loved that she wasn't crawling to Sam and wasn't being "hard to get". Which is also why I was very displeased at the very sudden "oh yeah, romance! She returns his feelings after he took her for a ride and let her vent her frustrations!". The movie is 2 hours long and they could throw in some moments where these two connect?
Welp, it is an action movie, boy gets girl no matter what, can't complain about the staple in the genre.
However, Mikaela x Optimus? Now THAT is something I considered as soon as the two locked eyes and interacted. Like, even taking my shipping goggles off, these two could have a very interesting dynamic and Mikaela could be a very good protagonist. I wonder what the movie would be like with her as the lead and Sam being the fucking moron she has to drag along with her.
BUT ALSO! Can we talk about the horrible, excruciating fact that her and Bumblebee drove around with Bee's damaged legs dragging over asphalt all the time he was shooting at 'Cons? There were sparks flying! SHE WAS DRIVING BACKWARDS! She took command of the situation and did what she could because Bee still wanted TO FIGHT!
Also, they way she beat up Frenzy? Gorgeous, I want to slap Sam's non-existent balls off for not atleast saying "thanks". The dude would be sliced thinner than cabbage if she wasn't there.
The millitary man we are supposed to care about because his wife gave birth while he was on duty and we see his baby three times in the whole movie, actually being a pretty awesome and well-written character
Look, personally, I was a little confused at the reason why we were seeing his wife and baby interacting/the scene where she thinks her husband is dead. Mostly because I don't like kids, so scenes like that, when I don't even know who the character is, have no impact at all. Him having a baby isn't going to make me like the guy more, unless I know his character. Him being absent because he's on duty doesn't mean he'll be a good dad (though he looks like the kind of man that will try his best, and I like that in a man). So seeing his wife and kid at the start of the movie seemed pointless to me.
BUT! FOCUSING ON THE POSITIVES HERE!
Lennox is a good character and whenever he was on screen I was invested in what is going to happen to him. He's the kind of action movie lead that would have me invested, despite my meh interest in mainly gun fight oriented action movies.
Essentially, loved the guy, would love to see more of him while also being able to tell what's happening on screen. Also the comedy scenes he was in were usually funny.
~
Okay so these are the things I like about the first movie! It was very long, had to watch it on 2,5x speed because it simultainously dragged while ALSO giving me too much information, but the moments like these and the way my imagination latched onto characters I liked made it watchable. It isn't a movie I'd use to introduce someone to the TF franchise, but it provided me with lots of material for my imagination to run wild.
#moca watches#transformers#transformers bayverse#moca screeches#Yes the cutlery divider is due to the Decepticons looking like they do. It amuses me greatly.

Lady of Azuchi Ch. 3
Chapter 3
It was just a couple of weeks later, I sat in a room of the castle with Hideyoshi and Ieyasu. We were interviewing midwives to find the perfect one for me. "What are your survival rates?" Ieyasu asked of the middle aged woman sitting in front of us.
"Very good. I have only had three mothers I have ever lost during the birthing process." She answered. "And I have helped to welcome countless babies into this world."
"And the survival of the children?" I asked, thinking of my baby.
"That number...has been a bit higher, but sometimes it cannot be helped." She answered.
"Thank you for your time." Hideyoshi said, dismissing the midwife.
The next one came in. She was the oldest of the candidates we had met with so far. "How long have you been a midwife?" Ieyasu began the questioning.
"Since I was a young girl, why many more years than the three of you have been alive combined." She answered.
Part of me liked her spunk, but then the other part of me wasn't a fan of that attitude. Just because someone had experience did not mean that it was all good.
"How many mothers and babies have you lost?" Hideyoshi asked.
It felt so weird to have to ask these questions. If I had been in the modern day, I would be seeing a doctor in a hospital with little worry about surviving or losing my child. While I knew things still went wrong in the modern day, they were far less likely.
"I try not to focus on my losses. Sometimes you can't save them." She answered. "It's usually only the weak ones who are not meant for this world anyways."
"I think we've heard enough." I said.
"Yes, thank you for your time." Hideyoshi said, sending her out and then the next one was in.
We went through a stream of midwives almost none of them getting past our first few questions. We finally encountered one who made it through the survival rate questions, having only lost one mother and baby.
"And what is your philosophy on a woman's activity during pregnancy?" I asked, knowing that in modern times we have learned that remaining active is actually good for mother and baby as long as it is within reason.
"Depends on the woman." She answered, eyeing me. "In your case, I would say that you need to rest more than most. You seem a bit weak."
"You do realize you are speaking to the wife of Nobunaga Oda?" Hideyoshi said to the woman. "She is quite strong to be our lord's partner."
"I call them as I see them." She replied.
"Next." I said not wanting to hear anymore of this.
Another string of interviews with women who had great survival rates, but terrible bedside manners. Our final interview of the day was a woman who appeared about my age. She had long dark hair she wore half up and half down. She also had striking green eyes and a warm smile.
"What are your survival rates?" Ieyasu asked.
"I have only ever lost one mother, but the child survived and is thriving when last I checked on her." She answered. "Which was about a week ago and she is three now. I've also only lost one child, but the mother survived and has even gone on to have more children who are healthy and thriving. She still grieves for her lost child from time to time, but with the proper support has been able to heal."
"You follow up with your patients after they are no longer in your care?" I asked, intrigued that post partum care was something this woman was thinking of.
"Yes. I believe it is important to follow up after the birth and help in any way I can." She answered. "Especially to check on the mothers. Many times a mother does not die during the birthing process but from infection and undetected injury afterwards...or in some cases she the emotional toll is too hard for her afterwards."
I was already impressed and finally feeling hopeful after all of our failed interviews so far today. Though when she spoke that last part, I thought I saw sadness in her eyes. "And how do you feel about a woman's activity during pregnancy?" I asked next.
"Pregnant women are able to carry on with most of their normal every day activities. Within reason of course. Not lifting anything too heavy and making sure to rest when tired and take frequent breaks." She answered. "I believe you should listen to your body and what it is telling you."
"And how do you feel about letting someone assist you? I mean with making sure Lady Ava were to be getting the right herbs and medicine during and after the pregnancy?" Ieyasu asked.
"I am open to whatever makes my patient most comfortable." She answered. "Most importantly, my priority would be to make sure Lady Ava and the baby are both safe and comfortable. I also believe there is always something new to learn."
"What is your name?" I asked her.
"Asuna."
"You've got the job." I said. I liked everything she said and felt most comfortable with her.
"Hold on a moment." Hideyoshi spoke up. "There are more questions we should be asking."
"Hideyoshi I am the one who is pregnant and I get the final say." I said. "Asuna clearly cares about her patients and has a very high success rate. Not to mention she believes in after care, something the other midwives have yet to mention."
"I do not mind answering more questions, my lady." Asuna said. "I am sure that there are things Lord Hideyoshi wishes to know about me in order to help protect you. I know how loyal he is to Lord Nobunaga and therefore he must be equally loyal to you as you are clearly important to Lord Nobunaga."
"Ava is important to all of the Oda forces." Hideyoshi spoke up. "Even before she was Lord Nobunaga's wife."
"She was our chatelaine." Ieyasu agreed. "And the soldiers all do find her endearing."
I smiled, happy that they cared for me. Even Ieyasu in his prickly tone was admitting it.
"Are you prepared Asuna to move into the castle to be sure you can care for Ava whenever necessary?" Hideyoshi asked. "You will be provided with a room and meals, but you must be dedicated solely to caring for our lady."
"While I normally wouldn't agree to that, I know the other midwives I work with can handle anyone who normally comes to us." Asuna answered. "It would be my honor to help deliver the next generation of the Oda and to assure your health and safety in the process, my lady."
"I am sorry to ask for so much of your time." I said.
"It is alright. The other midwives that I work with all have the same treatment style as I do." Asuna said. "I will not worry too much for our patients."
Though I could tell that this was a rather large sacrifice for her. She struck me as the type who really did care and got involved. "You are my midwife." I said. Then I looked at Hideyoshi, daring him to say otherwise.
Hideyoshi let out a sigh. "You know, if I didn't know any better I'd think it was Lord Nobunaga looking at me right now. You two are really starting to pick up things from each other."
I couldn't think at all what he could mean by that. Especially considering I don't think I gave any of my influences to Nobunaga...at least not where anyone else would notice. Many people still feared him as a great conqueror, which he still was. But I and only I got to see the soft gentle side of Nobunaga. Sure he showed me affection in front of the others, but he had never shied away from touching me in front of others before...even before we were actually a couple.
"It appears our lady has spoken and she is impressed with you." Hideyoshi relented.
"I am impressed as well." Ieyasu admitted.
"So, you have the job."
Asuna smiled. "Great!"
"We will give you the week to get everything in order so you can move into the castle." Hideyoshi explained. "When you return we will show you to your room."
"I appreciate the time to get things settled for my absence." She said. "And I appreciate the chance to work for the Oda." She then bowed before exiting.
I looked over at Hideyoshi who was watching Asuna leave, a look of unease in his eyes. He almost looked at her the same way he had looked at me when I first arrived. "Are you...suspicious of her Hideyoshi?" I asked.
"What? No why would you think that?" He asked.
"Because you were giving her the same look you gave me when I first arrived here nine months ago."
"There is nothing wrong. I am not worried." Hideyoshi replied and gave me a reassuring pat on the head.
I knew better with Hideyoshi. Worrying about everyone else was pretty much his entire life. However before I could say anything more, Kinu was coming to tell me that the head seamstress was looking for me, saying that they could really use my help. I went to join them and spent the rest of my day working on commissions which were requested of me.
At sunset I finished my work and was given a message to meet Nobunaga in his private bath. I walked into the room and looked around. "Nobunaga?" I called, though I didn't see him anywhere nor did he answer me.
I must have beat him. I decided to go ahead and remove my robes and climb in the tub, which was really a large shallow pool filled with warm water. I sighed in contentment as the warm water surrounded me and relaxed me. I was releasing tension I didn't even know I'd been holding.
I heard the door slide open and then footsteps walking in the room. "I see you beat me here." Nobunaga greeted me. I looked up as he removed his robes and waded into the water to join me.
"I didn't mean to get started without you, but the water was just too warm and inviting." I replied.
Nobunaga smiled at me as he pulled me up into his arms, pressing his body to mine. "I don't mind. I think coming into you in my bath already should happen more often. The sight of you is always welcome."
I smiled as I leaned into him. "I think we can arrange that."
Nobunaga kissed me then. His tongue easily slipping between my parted lips and teasing mine. He broke the kiss then only to trail kisses over my cheek and along my jaw. He kissed down my neck, playfully nipping along the way and then back up to my ear, where he knew I was too sensitive.
"Ah...mhn..." I moaned and I felt his lips curve into a smile as his teeth grazed across my ear.
"Always with such strong reactions." Nobunaga said, his voice teasing. His hands then found their way to my breasts. His calloused fingers pinched and tugged at my nipples.
Normally this would also bring out a strong reaction in me, however I found that this hurt. "Ouch."
Nobunaga paused and pulled back from my ear to look at me, his eyes concerned. "Have I hurt you?"
I shook my head. "No...it's just...my breasts are kind of sore." I answered sheepishly.
He frowned, but removed his hands from my breasts. Then he leaned down to place gentle kisses on them as if apologizing.
"I'm sorry."
He looked down at me, his eyes showing nothing but love to me. "You have nothing to apologize for...some changes are to be expected right now." He said, his eyes travelling down to my stomach, showing such tender affection. He then kissed my forehead.
I smiled up at him. Oh how I love this man. I thought. "You know...you can go back to the other stuff though." I said, not wanting our bath to end on that note.
Nobunaga chuckled and pulled my lips to his, kissing me deeply once more. He let his hands travel low over my body, careful as they slid down my breasts with only the lightest of touches. He slid one hand down the front and then between my thighs, his fingers stoking me in the most sensitive of places.
I moaned into his mouth as his fingers worked me, threatening to make me come undone already. While my breasts have grown painfully sensitive, it appears the rest of me is sensitive in the good way. I thought. Pregnancy giveth and pregnancy taketh.
Nobunaga broke the kiss, but still held me close with one arm and continued to ravish me with the other. His lips went back to my neck and ear.
A fire pooled low in my belly. "Ah...Nobu...naga." I cried out. "More...I...need...more."
I felt him smile into my neck. "You beg for me already?" He asked, his tone pleased. "Very well, I shall not keep you waiting." He lifted me ever so slightly in his arms and I eagerly wrapped my legs around him as he carried me over to the wall of the bath and held me against it before entering me.
I cried out with each thrust. My thoughts turned to mush and no words escaped me as I was lost to the pleasure of the an I loved moving inside of me. He leaned his head over my shoulder and I could hear each breath and each grunt in my ear, causing tingles to run over my body as he continued to make love to me.
"Ava..." He moaned my name as his own pleasure built.
"Ah...Nobunaga!" I cried out as that final wave of pleasure washed over me.
"Ava!" Nobunaga called out at the same time, riding that final wave with me.
After stopping he lingered inside me a moment, just holding me close. He leaned his forehead against me. "No matter how many times I have you...it is never enough." He said, breathless.
I smiled. "I feel the same way. I can't get enough of you."
We stayed like that for an immeasurable moment, lingering in our heat and our love for each other. We only broke apart once the bath water started to grow cold. Then we got out and into our night robes, heading back to our room in the tenshu.
We sat out on the balcony looking out at the city and holding onto each other. As I sat in Nobunaga's lap, I felt the tiredness that had become a part of me start to take over. I let out a yawn as I nestled into his embrace.
"Are you ready for bed?" He asked.
"We can...stay...up a bit longer." I replied sleepily, trying to hold back another yawn.
I felt his chest rumble as he let out a gentle laugh. He then kissed my forehead. "You should rest...from what I understand once our child gets here there won't be much chance for it."
I laughed. "I've heard that, too...but I'm not ready to move from this spot."
"You mean from the balcony or my lap?"
"Your lap, obviously." I answered.
"I will stay here a bit longer then...I can deny you nothing." He replied. "When you inevitably fall asleep, I will just carry you to bed."
"You won't have to do that. I'll stay awake...at least for a bit longer."
We sat there for a while longer, before I did fall asleep and true to his word, Nobunaga carried me to bed.
A few days later in Echigo...
"When will we be attacking Nobunaga again?" An impatient Kenshin asked Shingen. "Our forces have recovered from the last battle."
"But you have not fully recovered yet." Shingen countered.
"I am perfectly fine." Kenshin replied.
"Lord Kenshin I believe Lord Shingen is not referring to your physical state, though you have only just recovered from the injuries you sustained in your fight with Nobunaga." Sasuke interjected.
"It is true, you haven't been yourself since your battle." Shingen replied.
"If it hadn't been for that...that woman of his, that battle would have been better...I should have killed that woman!"
Sasuke had to hold his emotions in check. No matter what Kenshin said, he could never allow him to kill or harm Ava in any way. Though she was now married to his Lord's enemy she was still his friend, one he cared about and wouldn't allow harm to come to.
"Kenshin, there is no need to harm an innocent woman." Shingen spoke up, not wanting harm to come to a woman who just happened to marry the wrong man.
"Nobunaga asked for a bloodless surrender! I wanted a battle to the death!" Kenshin shouted. "If not for that woman's influence, he would have fought me to the death! It would have been a real battle!"
While Shingen wouldn't ever harm a woman, he did have to admit that his friend and ally was right. This Ava, had had an influence on Nobunaga. Their last battle at the garrison castle had ended differently than expected. And from the reports from his Mitsumono, he knew that that had only been the first of Nobunaga's battles to end this way. The Devil King was well on his to conquering the entire country.
Sasuke let out a sigh. "And then you nearly got yourself killed when you kidnapped Ava. You do realize your vassals would prefer you to live?"
"Battle me, Sasuke." Kenshin roared.
Shingen stepped in, putting a hand on Kenshin's shoulders. "I am working on a plan on when we should attack next." He said. "I recently had one of my Mitsumono infiltrate Azuchi and she is in a rather close position to Nobunaga."
"She? A woman?" Kenshin spat. "You have someone posing as his concubine trying to lure him away from his wife?"
Shingen shook his head. "No, this woman is different. She is not a seductress."
"Who is it?" Yukimura asked, not knowing what his Lord was talking about.
"I speak of Asuna." Shingen answered.
"The midwife?" Yukimura asked.
Shingen nodded.
"Midwife?" Sasuke asked.
"What use would Nobunaga have for a midwife?" Yukimura asked.
Shingen sighed. "Yuki, where have I failed in your education on women? Clearly the midwife is for Nobunaga's wife. Word was sent out that she has become with child and there were interviews held in Azuchi castle for the position. Asuna easily won it."
Sasuke's eyes widened. Ava is pregnant?! I was not expecting this news. Of course then a troubling thought came to Sasuke's mind. His friend was pregnant and one of her husband's enemies had his spy working as her midwife. He had some rather conflicting feelings about this.
Though Sasuke was usually not very expressive, Shingen took notice of the look on the young man's face at this news. He pondered the many possibilities of what it could mean, but did not say anything right this moment. He decided he needed to have a private chat with Kenshin's ninja later.
See what happens next below!

Headcanons with Obey Me! Oc, Alex
Alexâs relationships to each of the characters
Lucifer:
Have you heard of love at first sight? You have?Â
Yeah this is not that whatsoever.Â
Alex hated Lucifer from the moment they met. His attitude, the way he talked to them, the way he talked to Mammon. All of it.Â
So they made it their mission to get on his nerves as much as physically possible.
They really wanted to see how far they could push him.
Lucifer knew their game and put up with the annoying human and their antics despite the headache it caused him.
They finally talked to one another properly without a fight one night. It was late and Lucifer was, unsurprisingly, still awake and working.
Alex quietly shuffled into his office and immediately was called out on it. Lucifer rightfully suspected a prank. But the truth was that Alex had a bad dream and didnât know who else to talk to.
Lucifer turned and saw this tired, helpless, upset human and gestured them closer. He listened to their nightmare and did his best to provide them comfort.Â
Suddenly they werenât the nuisance they usually were. They reminded of him younger brothers when they were much younger and new to the Devildom. Scared and feeling isolated.Â
Did their relationship get any better?
Well, yeah it did.Â
Lucifer grew to see the petite human as another sibling he somehow gained.Â
Their relationship became sibling-like and the torment only continued, though less hate-filled.
Mammon:
Did they like him? Not at first. He didnât really care much for them either.
They came to their first major breakthrough early on, though, when Alex witnessed firsthand the treatment Mammon received from his brothers.
Oh they hated it.
Alex is the youngest of 9 and knows what Mammonâs experience is.
From that moment on they took it upon themselves to become Mammonâs designated protector.
If anyone tried to fuck with Mammon they had to deal with Alex and vice versa.
They also are touch starved, so there were many movie nights where they just cuddled up together because they both needed physical affection.
Mammon is one of their best friends in the Devildom and they would not trade him for anything in the three worlds.
Mammon isnât sure if he is in love with them or wants to just be their best friend, but he protects them just like they protect him.
They also always get into trouble together.
Mammon always ended up going into their room at night when he was having trouble sleeping, sometimes they were awake and sometimes not.Â
They had an agreement, though, that if the other needed comfort at night they could always go to one another.Â
He quietly would crawl into their bed and it was as if Alex knew he was there without waking up. They would shift so he could cuddle into them and theyâd sleep like that the rest of the night.
Thereâs something inherently comfortable about being around one another when itâs just the two of them, something Mammon does not want to risk losing. He is very protective over them and will do harm to those who try to hurt them.
Leviathan:
Anime fan? Video game lover? Alex is the epitome of heart-eyes.
Yes, Levi comes off a bit weird but they do not care.
They wanna become his friend as fast as fucking possible because anime nerds need to stick together. They need someone to show them good Devildom anime.
Levi was very hesitant to let the human in. He was a gross otaku, why would they want to be his friend?
He was terrified that it might be some super elaborate prank.
It was seeing them playing a game from the human world that made him begin to open up.
They were playing a video game that they loved and he merely caught a glimpse over their shoulder. That was all it took. He stood there, hovering behind them, watching their gameplay intently.
The rest is, as they say, history.Â
The pair became the best of friends and bonded over their mutual hobbies.Â
Levi is also one of the potential love interests for Alex so the feelings can run even deeper depending on how I am feeling.
Overall, though, they are just as attached at the hip as Mammon and Alex. Levi is fiercely protective over Alex and their friendship, often fighting his brothers to claim best friendship. They are his Henry.
Theyâre able to get through to him when he draws in on himself. When he is so plagued by negative thoughts and anxiety that nothing can reach him, Alex is able to crack through the negativity to shine light back on him.
They give him so much positive reinforcement and affection.
While they are touch starved, they never force physical affection without consent. They know Levi has issues with being touched and would never want to push it.
Theyâre the only one he is okay with hugging him out of the blue, though it makes him blush, it also makes him feel special.Â
Satan:
They did not get along at first.
Alex did not hate him on sight like they did Lucifer, but they did not take to him very quickly either.
They pretty much ignored each other for the first couple of weeks.
they could cohabitate in the House of Lamentation in peace without ever acknowledging one another.
It was Alexâs dislike of Lucifer that piqued Satanâs interest in them.
A fellow hater of Lucifer? Someone to plan pranks and piss off the eldest in the house? Maybe they were alright then.
They became friends over their disdain of Lucifer and truly bonded over a love of books.
Alex is a big reader, not only of manga, but of all literature. So they were able to find common ground in that they had some similar interests.
There was never the potential for romance between them and thatâs okay.
Their relationship, similar to Lucifer and Alexâs, evolved into a very sibling-like relationship.
They became a younger sibling to him and he enjoyed their company. They proved good to prank with as well.Â
It was nice to have someone else who liked reading, someone who was calm, and also loved cats. Alexâs love for cats was just as strong as Satanâs.Â
I personally headcanon that Alexâs cat got to come with them to the Devildom so Satan really had to decide whether or not he was going to kidnap (catnap) their cat or not until they told him he could visit anytime for some kitty cat cuddles.Â
Asmodeus:
Asmo was a very fast friend to Alex.
The moment they met he was enamored. What drew him in specifically? Alexâs hair. They came to the Devildom with pastel blue hair with an undercut that needed to be maintained.
Asmo saw they were a lover of fashion and had nice hair and he wanted in on that. He volunteered himself to be their personal hair stylist.Â
They began bonding over these sessions where he would touch up their hair color and cut followed by painting their nails and telling them anything and everything he could think of.
But they did not hesitate to call his seemingly narcissistic personality a fraud. They didnât buy that he was only a self-absorbed and shallow person who only cared for his looks.
This moment is what makes Asmo the second contender as a love interest for Alex.
They saw right through him and suddenly he felt...free. Free to express himself in more ways then he thought possible. He also began to view them as more than a doll to play with and a sounding board to talk to.
Suddenly they were so much more alive as a person. He wanted to truly know them.Â
He fights Mammon and Levi for the role of best friend but he also wants to be so much more than that.
He makes a point to spend time with them and never mentions his previous encounters or relationships. He doesnât want to even risk upsetting them in case they love him back (which they do depending on what Iâm writing oops-).
Asmo, though he struggles to admit it out loud, views them as even more important than himself. Their beauty inside and out is blinding. He wants the world to see it and their outfits to reflect it.
He doesnât hesitate to drop just as much Grimm shopping for them as he does himself.
Beelzebub:
These two cohabitated quite peacefully. They didnât need to talk or really do much of anything. They simply existed together.
Alex didnât think much of the large demon at first. They were impressed by the sheer size of his appetite and thought he looked kinda cool.
Beel thought they looked so small and was afraid just breathing too hard might break them.
Their first bonding moment was when he came into the kitchen for a midnight fridge raid and found Alex, in their pajama shirt, cooking. He quietly sat down next to where they were standing and asked what they were making.
Comfort food was their answer. They were homesick. Their favorite thing when they were homesick was potato soup, their motherâs recipe.
Beel knew the feeling all too well and did not press the subject. There was comfortable silence before he asked questions about the human world. Before long, they were offering him a large bowl of soup.Â
They ate together, sitting there on the kitchen floor, and the hours flew by.Â
They did get in trouble together for not even cleaning up the mess in the kitchen where they inevitably fell asleep together, but Lucifer was lenient.Â
Beel became their confidant. The one person they could talk to without feeling judged. And they became someone he could also tell anything too.
Someone he needed for those bad nights plagued by nightmares or when he felt homesick, too.Â
Their relationship stays this way. Thereâs not romance that may blossom and neither of them are interested in that.Â
Belphegor:
They knew he wasnât human from the moment they found him in the attic. These two had very little relationship prior to the incidents of chapter 16.
We all know how Belphie was about humans and what happened to the MC in that chapter.Â
Scooting past that, their relationship afterwards was exceptionally tense.
At least on Belphieâs side. He wanted to make up for what he had done but also felt uncomfortable with Alex. He wasnât sure how to approach them.
Alex, on the other hand, took it as a personal mission to annoy the ever living shit out of him as revenge.Â
Did they hate him for what he had done? No. They did not hate him. What they felt was not hatred nor resentment, rather they felt irritated and rightfully pissed off.
They sought revenge in the form of annoying him.
But that only lasted a little while. These two actually get along very well once they have a proper talk about what happened and Belphie wanting to make up for what he had done.Â
Belphie is contender number 3 for Alexâs love and affection in a romantic sense (Iâm soft for him, I canât help it).
They bond over the stars and the fact that they can be in the same room together without even having to talk.Â
Alex is a high-energy kind of person but even they need breaks. They donât like feeling as if they have to be like that all the time. And they donât have to with him. They can be quiet and calm.Â
They nap together all the time. Belphie is actually the one they go to when they have migraines because his very presence is so soothing that theyâre able to relax and sleep through it despite the pain.
Belphie knows they love pillows and buys a new one every time he goes out, whether with them or not, just to add to their bed so they have their own massive pillow collection.
I will do a part 2 for the rest of the characters! Let me know what you think!!

chapter summary: a muffin never tasted so bittersweet
can you believe itâs been three years? i miss you army
you canât help the bittersweet memories flooding your mind at jungkookâs tweet. itâs been such a long time since bangtan stood in front of their fans â performing their music to the people who adored them with all their hearts.
you, yourself, were part of this crowd, more times than your bank account wishes to remember. their stage presence was so enticing, so alluring, you could not not fall in love with them.
jungkook shared some pictures in his tweet, old photos of jin and him demolishing a plate of deep-dish pizza in chicago, of jimin and taehyung posing in front of their pop up store in seoul, and one with all four of them bowing to the crowd in tokyo dome.
there is a smile on your face â not because you think about their shared journey, but because your best friend chose photos of events that you attended. sure, you hadnât known them back then. but it canât be a coincident that you have similar pictures â granted from another perspective â on your own camera roll. it makes you miss him.
âwhatâs going on?â, yoongi asks as he slides your coffee across the table. your starbucks is full of people, but namjoon, yoongiâs dear friend, works here. so, there is always a spot cleared for you. you donât mind the special treatment as you sip your white mocca.
âjust thinkingâ, you mumble, warmed by the caffeine.
âthat canât be goodâ, he says and sips his iced americano. he looks as tired as you feel. yoongi is recording his second mixtape right now. so, after he finishes his work talking to people about their problems, he starts rewriting, taping, recording, mixing and editing. no wonder he looks like death.
âi have you know that iâm actually thinking 67 percent of the day.â
âthat canât be good as well, ______. please use your brain more often â it might evolve with training.â
you gap at his audacity. âyou do know iâm not paying you to talk me down, right?â
yoongiâs eyes smile while his lips are still half asleep. âyouâre not paying me right now, _____. we are just friends meeting up for coffee before we have to⊠be a part of the working class.â
âi still canât believe i get to see beautiful, brilliant, boisterous butterfliesâ, you say. your friend answers with an unattractive snort as his hands move into his thick, bleached hair.
âand i canât believe youâre getting paid to watch bonkers, brackish, boring butterflies.â
you look away as you see his biceps flex. when did get this muscular? it takes a second for you to register his insult. maybe you need another coffee before leaving.
âi do have to care about my class as well, yoongi. itâs not all sunshine and butterflies. itâs also childrenâs snot and education.â still, youâre not making eye contact. if this was a therapy session, heâd ask for you to look at him, to ask why youâre feeling uncomfortable. but here, you are⊠just his friend.
âyour work is important, _____, i knowâ, yoongi answers honestly. he knows how much you love these animals and children. and it is a big deal that seoulâs butterfly exhibition opens up just for your excursion. it makes him happy to see you this excited.
âand because i know that, iâll remind you that you had to leave three minutes ago.â what? your eyes rush to your watch, only to widen in surprise.
âdamn it, namjoonâ, you mutter. your barista friend did take a long time with your order.
âdonât blame joon, _____. we were the ones who missed the trainâ, your friend reminds you as you put on your jacket in a rush.
âless correcting me, more helping me, yoongiâ, you shush at him and make a motion to your heavy bag right next to his chair. âcome on.â
yoongi doesnât know why he agreed to help you carry all the lunch packs to school, he really doesnât. nevertheless, he gets up and slings the heavy bag onto his shoulder and grabs his half-finished drink.
âletâs go â teacher of the year.â
**
the exhibition is amazing. you feel true bliss walking around the nature themed rooms, all home to one of the most rare, beautiful creatures. the kids hang on their tour guideâs lips as she tells them interesting facts about butterflies.
your phone is a constant companion â the camera roll now filled with funny pictures for the moms and dads to enjoy at the next parent-teacher conference. there are even a few photos of just you with a pink butterfly resting on your shoulder. jisoo, your coworker, is an amateur instagrammer, so the results of her taking your pictures are⊠really flattering.
now, the kids enjoy their break before you guys leave to drive back to school.
âreally, you amaze me, ___â, your coworker says as she sits next to you on the bench â eyes trained on your students chasing around the butterflies.
âwhy?â, you ask, your attention monopolized by the two boys in a heated exchange over their shared butterfly net.
âgetting the exhibition to open up just for our class? after hours? without additional fees?â
you flinch at her words as your heartbeat quickens. âwha- what? jisoo? i-â, you start to stutter, âi thought⊠you organized that.â
there is a fruit basket waiting on her desk with a thank you note for all her planning. now jisoo, too, looks uncomfortable.
âi didnâtâ, she says.
**
it takes you a long time before you reach out. the whole train ride was spent with a pro and contra list on your ipad. then, while you were making yourself a two-person bowl of ramen, you crafted more than one email, only to delete every attempt. you havenât talked to jungkook for more than five days. thatâs the longest period the two of you ever went without seeing each other.
there is still a tightness in your chest when you think about his insult that night on the terrace. at first, you werenât sure if jungkook realized that he hurt you â admittedly you arenât the best with communicating your feelings. but your cold responses to his texts the next day must have been enough of a red flag for him to act.
then came the gifts: a triple chocolate muffin, still warm, delivered to your home before you had to leave on monday.
on tuesday, there was a singed copy of the unreleased album from one of your favorite kpop groups.
the next day, there was a poem collection where he scribbled in some commentary. you nearly teared up at that because this used to be your ritual when you first got to know each other: lending books with marked and commented pages for the other to enjoy.
on thursday he was strangely silent â only a single daisy decorated your briefcase.
but now, on friday, he went out of his way to get your class into this exhibition. you donât even want to think about what that must have cost him.
there is an uneasiness in your fingertips as you dial his number. for one fleeting moment you want to call your therapist instead. but you canât⊠because you may have left your whole âcold-shoulder-to-jungkookâ-move out of the last session. and you really canât take yoongiâs probing right now.
he answers after seven rings, breathlessly happy.
â______â
you smile and itâs not uncomfortable.
âjungkook⊠you didnât have toâ, you greet him and canât help the endearment in your voice. he picks up on that and chuckles.
âof course, i didnât⊠i wanted to.â
âthank youâ, you answer, âit was really the highlight of my week.â
you can hear his cockiness at your words. âbetter than stray kidsâ new album?â
âbetter than your thoughts on contemporary poemsâ, you counter teasingly. then, there is a beat of silence.
â______â, jungkook begins, âi⊠i really didnât want you to think iâm not ⊠or that i wouldnât⊠do anything for you. you mean so much to me⊠itâs a shame i have to prove it to you⊠it should be⊠obvious.â
you suck in air as if your life depends on it. his words warm your heart and his awkwardness makes you smile.
âi get that i wasnât the best of friends⊠but iâll improve â trust me!â, jungkook vows with fire in his voice. âthe winter collection has been kicking my ass⊠my family has been nagging about christmas⊠and the weddingâŠâ
there is a beat of silence you do not dare to interrupt. this is his moment, not your responsibility.
jungkook collects himself fast and continues. âi know how much youâve done for this wedding, for me⊠for us⊠and i want to be more involved⊠iâll be by your side for all of next weekâs appointments. ms yang already cleared my schedule.â
jungkook wants⊠to be by your side when you talk to the dj? the cake decorator? when you finalize the seating chart? dear lord.
âletâs spend some quality time together, ____. just you and me⊠and the wedding.â
you cannot find the right responds as you gap silently into your phone. after a moment, another voice is heard through the speaker.
âask her if she liked the muffin i baked her.â his fiancĂ©eâs words punch you in the gut without ill-intent.
___
hi guys! I hope you are doing well! i had to take my first covid test this week â it was negative but thatâs an experience for itself, right? i hope you are healthy and you enjoyed this chapter. iâd really love to hear your thoughts! next up: junkook and the reader tackling some of the wedding preparation⊠love, dana

We need more anti C//A who are Adora stans (like you seem to be) so that people can understand that C///A is bad for Adora. Heck C//A is bad for Catra too, but the shippers don't seem to realize it. If Catra had been able to let Adora go maybe she could have healed instead of her festering and the abuse may have ended instead of escalated.
Hello Dear, welcome on my Blog and a big thank you for your message! Firstly I wanna apologize that this response is reaching you more than three full days, almost four later. Just real life getting into the way of my online presence (at least I got my A-Levels admission!) but I assure you that replying to you was on my To Do List the entire time. And while I could've typed something quick, I thought you deserved a full length response just as much as the person before you received. That goes for anyone really to ask/write me anything in the future.
Adora is a character that has flaws, her own interests, things she struggles with/is insecure about etc. but she also still works on being better (up to Season 5). This makes her relatable, fleshed out and overall three dimensional. Overall for me that makes Adora very likeable. Which is funny because when I first watched the show I thought of her as too goofy and felt like she as a character was overall just flat. Her character design did not speak to me either, the ponytail with the weird hair poof and these pointy shoulders of her jacket just really were not my taste. Isn't it amazing how perceptions can change?
As you can guess from that description I did not always stan Adora and she's probably still not my favorite character but over the almost two years I've been in this fandom I've grown rather fond of her. Other important characters to me are Kyle (a very relatable comfort character of mine, he learned to stand up for himself and others and I support that, f*ck Season 5 for barely acknowledging his existence), Lonnie (apart from treating Kyle badly (which I really do NOT support or excuse) I really love her, man, some women just do me like that, I mean she really stood up to Catra like that), Entrapta (I'm autistic too! It's great to have some representation, seeing the ableism/treatment she experiences in the show is not so much though), Seahawk (I don't even know why, I have some issues with his behavior towards Mermista at times but overall I love this dork), Scorpia (she reminds me of myself so much and I really wanna give her hugs, I'm so glad she chose to no longer let Catra treat her like that even though I will be forever salty she just immediately forgave her), Peekablue (I can explain this even less than Seahawk, especially since it was not even really him in the end but his existence somehow helped me cope with Season 5, without him I probably would've left this fandom ... and also my favorite color is blue) and Double Trouble (now there's enough people already critcizing how they're not exactly great Non-binary representation but this dramatic lizard will forever be in my heart, that reality check they gave Catra, basically slapping her in the face with facts was satisfying as h*ck, also I like lizards overall).
Now there's plenty of characters I like, dislike (or even hate) or am simply indifferent about but after all this is not a tier list but me talking about Adora, Catra and Catradora. Adora started off as this girl that was so sure what she was doing is right but once she was taught differently she was willing to leave everything she knew (except Catra, because she valued her despite everything) behind. And not only that, she broke out of the abuse cycle that Catra tried so hard to keep upright. And that is exactly what makes Adora such a good role model. She teaches children (or people) that:
Your past doesn't define what/who you are or what/who you can become
-> Adora used to be a Horde soldier and did not know where she came from, but nonetheless she found herself a family and became a hero that saved thousands of people
You can always change your mind and start a new life if you feel disappointed in what you are doing/who you are as a person
-> Basically the exact same point, Adora started a new life as she saw what the Horde really was and changed her mind about who to fight for
You deserve love too, be it platonic or romantic (or se*ual???) (If you're aro and/or ace just ignore the part that does not work for you)
-> While Adora for various reasons thought her only use was to please others and meet their needs and expectations (mostly due to Shadow Weaver and Catra) she learned to accept that she too deserves love and validation (if the love aspect would not have been focused on it being romantic love so she could smooch Catra in the finale this would've been a billion times better because she got love from her friends that showed her her real value)
You can walk away from something/someone, that does not make you egoistic/selfish
-> Adora walked away from the Horde, after Catra stubbornly refused to come with her despite many offers (basically Catra broke the promise, not Adora) from her too and that did not make her a "traitor" or "selfish", h*ck, Adora in the end did this for a bigger purpose too, even if part of it was her not wanting to live with such wrong morals
Your opinions, feelings etc. about a person/something can change and that is perfectly fine and valid, being able to change is part of what makes someone human
-> Adora's views on many things changed throughout the show: The Horde and the Rebellion, the First Ones, Catra, being She-Ra, herself, her priorities and so on ... she actually makes use of her brain, which is why Catra saying "Don't you ge it?" or calling her an idiot and dumb never sat right with me, she's a realistic character for shifting with her thoughts, feelings etc. and sometimes just does not fully think things through
You don't have to let other people treat you like sh*t (just because they have some issues they never worked through does not give them any right to let it out on you)
-> This point is obviously centered mostly around Catra and her abusing Adora almost every chance she gets, which is why Adora standing up for herself and not letting Catra blame her for her own decisions and mistakes is so important, "You made your choice, now live with it" is one of the most powerful lines throughout all the five Seasons
Now I'm sure there is still more to Adora's character than what I just listed and unfortunately almost all the points basically got pushed aside, well, Adora as a character got pushed aside in Season 5. All her growth, the things that made me love her, see her as great role model for so many people robbed of their value for the sake of making everything revolve around Catra. That brings me to her and how you are absolutely right that Catradora is harmful to both characters. Of course Adora is affected most by it in the end but Catra too is obviously suffering under the fandoms obsession and just the overall idea of them being romantically involved.
Just like with Adora the stans make almost everything about Catra over her relationship with Adora. She too can barely exist outside of it and if she wasn't the fan favorite she'd most likely would too be mostly in Fanarts that include Adora and not just her (if you google "Catra Fanart" most content is still Catra and Catra only but here and there Catradora still peaks through). But for whatever reason the fandom still views her more as her own person as the other ones? Catrouble and Scorptra Shippers might actually still get less hate than Glimmadora Shippers (I'm not denying they don't get any, they most certaintly do) which is just plain hypocricy and favorism. Kinda like the: A woman needs to be loyal to her husband and her husband only but if the husband wants to be active with other women that is perfectly fine because "that is just how men are" or how i like to call it ... sexism. Now in this case they are both women so it's not sexism but yo do get my point.
But much more importantly, Catra has an unhealthy obsession with Adora. Signs of that are for example:
Constantly talking about Adora, even when said person is not around (to Shadow Weaver, Scorpia etc.)
Obsessing over having control over Adora like in that one Episode "Are you kidding? I finally got control over Adora, I'm not giving that up!"
Building her entire character and her actions around Adora "We need to take Adora down", "Adora left me", "I'd rather see the whole world end than see you win!", also shown in Season 5 where she states she does save Glimmer only for Adora and not for Glimmer or to do the right thing
Getting aggressive or very emotional over Adora like clawing the wall, having nightmares etc. (destructive behavior towards herself and others)
Having no or barely any characteristics outside of her relationship with Adora like, we don't know her interests or likes and dislikes outside of being evil, obsessed with Adora, being abused by Shadow Weaver ...
Trying to force Adora to meet her needs and expectations regardless of Adora's owns
Sacrificing her oppurtunity to be happy in the Crimson Waste for the sake of her Adora obsession and being better than her at all costs
So yes, you were very right with saying that not putting Catra in a relationship with Adora would've benefited both characters. Catra could've learned to exist on her own, develop interests and a life outside of Adora. Learn to accept herself and eventually come to terms with her childhood abuse. She could've been free and not "the abusive cat girl that ended up with the person she unhealthily obsessed over to the point of no return" she kinda is now. Even if we ignore the whole "dating your long term abuser" part from Adora's side and "being rewarded" for horrible behavior, Catra alone is not giving a good example to people watching. As much as I dislike Catra, disdain her even, an ending where she is dependent on Adora, unable to stand on her own two legs after she led armies in war is not what I would wish for her, even with a decent redemption arc (that she did not get).
