I'm depressed, exhausted, and stressed. Multiple family members are having financial crises all at once, as well as multiple medical concerns and/or scares. My cousin's toddler died yesterday. My older brother might have cancer. My eldest brother might lose custody of his daughter. My mother has eye surgery coming up and we're in the process of scheduling eye surgery for my father as well. That's not even covering any other medical issues that might pop up during their annual physicals, which the optometrist requires to perform any surgery. My father is basically blind and deaf at this point. Then I'm having severe PMS symptoms again, when my birth control is supposed to curb those. I might have something seriously wrong with me, but the appointment to check is 70 bucks. That's another cost that I didn't expect in a sea of costs.

Getting a job is comforting but it's not enough. I'm going to make a GoFundMe for the family--still, I don't expect much help. Everyone else is broke, too. Everyone else is having crises, too.

I'm just so sad, and I haven't been this depressed in a long time. I've been doing my best to use my coping skills from therapy plus meditation, thought reversal, whatever. It's just really, really hard to be positive when it feels like everyone that you know is having some sort of horrible crisis or terrible tragedy.

Not to sound like a person who actually cares about children, but it's so alarming that there's this tendency and trend of not telling kids about their medical conditions that are in their charts.

I'm finding out as an adult that they (though it's not documented who) diagnosed me with a life-long, chronic condition without telling me when I was a teenager. I found out recently when I got curious about my medical charts, and otherwise, I would not have known what's wrong with me. I've been left with more questions than answers, and I feel like a private investigator investigating my own damn health and life.

Is this medical malpractice? Yes. However, I think it also speaks to a broader point of how children are seen to not be entitled to their own lives in any capacity, to the point where they are (intentionally or not) made ignorant about things that are or will affect them.

one of the most frustrating things about the neil gaiman situation (and others like it) is people who were fans immediately moving to a different person to idolise ('well, at least we still have x author' or 'please tell me y author is still a good person') and in this situation specifically, 'terry pratchett would be furious'. no!!! you do not know!!!you have no idea whether terry pratchett or any author you like was/is a predator! you cannot take a situation in which a man's public persona as a feminist and supporter of women allowed him to prey on vulnerable women without suspicion and then look at all the other men who portray themselves as good people and say 'well, these ones are still okay though.' just stop idolising celebrities!!!!!!!
