Okay okay okay everyone be cool.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! IT’S SANJI’S TURN!!! I think my bias really shines through by the fact that there are four illustrations rather than my usual three. Not to mention… this isn’t even half of the busts that I’ve drawn and also none of these are post-timeskip. I need to make a whoooole other character sheet for post-timeskip Sanji. She changes a lot in two years.
But I digress, here are my design notes for Sanji: (WARNING includes discussion of Sanji’s journey during the timeskip. There are also some super duper minor vague spoilers for whole cake island but those are written in blue so you can skip over them easily.)
So personality wise, I wanted to keep a lot of her complex relationship with femininity and gender. She grew up under the care of super butch Zeff who taught her that being a girl doesn’t mean that you have to be girly; in fact, it’s probably best if you toughen up so you can protect people who need it. Sanji takes this to heart and becomes a total tomboy, she believes that she’s rejected her feminine side completely.
She’s also a diehard romantic!! She’s the dashing prince who has come to save every damsel she comes across. She finds it very easy to flirt with women because it was very much the modus operandi on the Baratie, but she’s all talk. She gets flustered very easily once any romantic endeavor starts to bear fruit. She’ll make some poignant revelations about why once she lives in the Kamabakka Kingdom.
So why isn’t she wearing a suit? Because I’m a whore for an apron. It’s the perfect way to establish the silhouette of a dress but maintain a clean, utilitarian appearance. Fem!Sanji is more line-cook than waitress, but she DOES wear menswear pieces. I’ve put her in a silk vest with flared slacks in one outfit and she’s sporting that cute tie from Long Ring Long Land in another. Very preppy. I think she mostly wears tidier versions of Sanji’s more casual outfits: patterned button ups, cargo shorts, tees. She is religious about keeping her nails clean and manicured though. As fussy as canon Sanji is about his suits? Fem!Sanji is tenfold more fussy about her nails. She never wears polish (it could chip into the food) but her digits are trimmed perfectly and buffed to a shine.✨
She has a birthmark(?) at the nape of her neck that isn’t a scar but doesn’t tan. No one’s ever noticed it before because she was pretty good about staying inside when she lived on the Baratie but, now that she’s out adventuring on a much smaller ship, she finds herself basking in the sun more often and the mark is becoming more defined. She would be mortified to know it was there, especially since it doesn’t show up on the four other people who have similar marks because their skin cells are invulnerable to UV. (Inspired by @themetalhiro )
I love Sanji so so so so so so much. This design is like… 50% what I wish I looked like, 49% what I think is hot, and 1% forced-feminized transponder snail. I’ll have so much more to say about her characterization when I post the next version. Let me know your thoughts in the replies!!

Okay so the quick version of this is: saw Two Of Us today, adored it even more than I adore the film, the choice to keep them in John's building worked really well to further highlight the mental health message the director talks about in his little note in the programme, the rooftop scene is somehow even more intimate and lovely in this version and the ending is even more painful! I'm gonna write down more under the cut about it all:
Playlist: The playlist before the show/during the interval is everything you would want it to be and it includes Monkberry Moon Delight which I feel like I never hear in public!
The overall experience was also just super wholesome, one thing I always love about Beatles events is the range of people there it just makes you feel like your part of such a special thing, so shout out to all the old women talking about Paul near me, the middle aged men in their Beatles shirts, and the girl behind me who was sooo excited to be there and I hope she got to meet the cast after like she wanted to! ALSO the Beatles drinks are so funny, idk why Ringo’s is just earl grey tea 😭
Performances: OKAY let’s get into it. So one of my only real complaints about the film is that although I think overall Jared Harris and Aiden Quinn do an amazing job but I do find the quality a little inconsistent (especially the accents) but Jay Johnson and Barry Sloane are soooo so good, the accents, the little verbal quirks (which also, kudos to the writer as well) and the physicalities are jarringly good at points, especially Barry Sloane’s John. I also feel like a lot of Get Back was watched in preparation because there were so many little things, like the way John plays with his hair that just took me right back to that. Sometimes with fictional Beatles things I’m constantly thinking about how you’re watching two people try to portray these real people, but I definitely found that they were convincing enough that I wasn’t thinking about it too much.
Outfits: I did find it kinda weird they went for the Get Back looks rather than how they looked in 76, I feel robbed of the New York City vest tbh but they did look great
Changes from the film: basically they cut out them going for the walk to the park and to Luigi’s and instead John sets up the table for them like they’re in a restaurant in his kitchen. I think it works really well because they play into John not wanting to leave the building, which just adds into that whole mental health thing, and I think it actually makes the rooftop scene more poignant when they get there, because it feels more like Paul has broken through a bit and coaxed him outside, even if it’s baby steps. Anyway, they still have all the same conversations really the script is just chopped up a bit.
One interesting thing is that the conversation that happens with the fan in Luigi’s still happens, but John sort of pesters Paul about whether he really thinks silly love songs should be number one, and it’s a nice extra layer to Paul’s insecurity which I enjoyed
Mental health conversations: I think going into it knowing that the director wanted to make this because of the mental health themes, specifically men’s mental health and how having someone to reach out to is so important, is really interesting. They definitely amped up John’s anxiety from the film, his fidgeting and little moments to himself where he’s trying to get himself together were just so palpable, and Paul talking about his depression after the Beatles broke up was even more raw and upsetting seeing it in front of you. My absolute favourite line in the film is ‘I’m thirty-five years old and I still feel like I’ve done something wrong’ and god, my heart just broke seeing it on stage, I think that’s such a common feeling, just that sense that you’re in trouble for something but you’re not really sure what? Anyway, I just loved Sloane’s delivery of it.
The Kiss: Okay, look I actually don’t care that much about the kiss in the film, I’m glad it’s in there as a little nod to John’s queerness but it really isn’t anything imo, but I liked it a lot more in this! For one thing rather than coming after a little play fight (which is still cute, don’t get me wrong) they do one of their silly dances where they’re spinning each other round etc, so the scene already feels more tender, and then John just kinda grabs him and it goes on a little longer than in the film. I still think it’s far from one of the most intimate moments in the show, but I do think they made it into something more here.
Rooftop scene: It’s just. It’s everything. They sit right at the front of the stage, facing each other, cross legged and Paul gives him the whole ‘I see a beautiful baby boy speech’ and it’s PERFECT, this was the moment I was most worried about them screwing up and it was perfectly delivered and they have this lovely big hug after it and it made my heart ache in the best way. And idk, if seeing some guy dressed up as Paul McCartney saying that we should focus on fun and get out our own heads and how we don’t have to stay stuck as the kids who were just scared and trying to survive, doesn’t do something for you, then we’re just very different people.
SNL scene: okay it’s pretty much the same but the way John is sleeping on Paul was everything, it wasn’t just a head on the shoulder he was fully laying back against Paul!!
The ending: this is just so brutal because Paul doesn’t leave the flat to get his guitar, he borrows one of John’s and so when Yoko calls and John starts doing the whole ‘I wish you were here, you’re the only one who stops me disappearing’ it’s literally…. In Paul’s face. And it hurts. Then at the very end they cut between John on the phone to Yoko and Paul on the phone to Linda, and so Paul says ‘I love you’ to Linda, then John says ‘I love you too’ to Yoko but it sounds like they said it to each other, and then Here Today plays. The fact most people didn’t appear to be crying baffled me quite frankly.
Yoko: They decided to have Yoko be the one who actually invited Paul, which felt like an odd choice and didn’t really add anything for me, but there we go
Okay I’m gonna shut up there because this is way too long and I doubt anyone’s read it but ahhhhhhhhh it was so good and you’re just all lucky I can’t text you because my friends have had much more incoherent versions of all this
#the beatles#two of us#mclennon#this is an essay i'm so sorry#i just needed to get my thoughts down somewhere#i will try and be more chill about one hand clapping next week#personal

Tomarrymort Advanced Pack – 12 Longfic Recs
If you’ve made your way through the Tomarrymort Starter Pack and Intermediate Pack reads, here are 12 beautifully written, timeless fics that are Tomarrymort on hard mode for when you’re ready to dive into something that will really challenge your every reading muscle. This selection of fics features some of the most skilled writing I’ve come across in the entire fandom, and I love how these authors tackle incredibly complex subject matter and plotlines and characterization choices with such bold and unflinching perspectives.
Please mind all tags (including CCNTW, explained here) as you may find some themes within some of these fics difficult or challenging to read for a variety of reasons.
This is Part 3 of a 3-part series (see here for Part 1 and Part 2). I hope you get as much enjoyment from reading these additional 3.1 million words of incredible Tomarrymort longfic as I have!
*
Tomarrymort Advanced Reads
ǟʟʍǟɢɛֆȶ by eldritcher (M, 134k, complete)
Setting: Canon Divergence – Book 6 Premise: If Harry and Dumbledore team up with Voldemort to save the magical world from a catastrophic threat. Why I rec it: Eldritcher delivers one of the most epic love stories of a lifetime — with Harry and Voldemort surviving a trip to the moon and back, and Harry’s love for Voldemort transcending time and space after Voldemort makes the ultimate sacrifice to save the world and, against all odds, return to Harry. The prose is absolutely transcendent — amongst the best I’ve encountered not only in fanfic, but in all of fiction I’ve ever read. I can’t say enough about how much I love Elditcher’s writing style and how beautifully the story unfolds — there’s a very nice lyrical rhythm underlying all the sentence structure and word choice in the fic that flows like nothing else I’ve read before.
Anabiosis by @itsevanffs (E, 32k, WIP)
Setting: Canon Divergence Pre-Book 1 Premise: If Voldemort resurrects early and takes a teaching job at Harry’s primary school. Why I rec it: This is one of the best and most realistic and gutting depictions I’ve ever read of the quiet tragedy of Harry’s pre-Hogwarts years growing up experiencing severe neglect and an absence of love throughout his entire childhood. @itsevanffs did a magnificent job of capturing Harry’s limited POV and all the fluttering hope his still-trusting heart holds when he meets Mr Riddle, the first teacher who’s ever treated him with kindness. My heart ached so much for Harry throughout this fic, and the emotional arc in this story has continued to haunt me for a very long time afterwards.
Eight Days a Week by @vestiges-of-light (E, 802k, complete)
Setting: Canon Divergence – Book 7 Premise: If Voldemort captures Harry shortly after his sixth year, which leads to an unlikely truce and eventual partnership that ends up saving the magical world. Why I rec it: This fic combines a sprawling political epic with an incredibly extensive exploration of kink. The author asks a great question in the tags: "Why is only vanilla sex literary?" — and this fic does a fantastic job of proving that messy, filthy, raw sex scenes don’t have to be made sanitized or palatable for mainstream consumption in order to have just as much of a place in a plot-driven, serious longfic as vanilla sex does. Against the high-stakes backdrop of international political intrigue, there’s a very nice domesticity to Harry and Voldemort’s relationship, and how much they trust each other and can be stripped bare and vulnerable in front of each other is very poignant and touching to read about.
Embryo by @cannibalinc (NR, 28k, WIP)
Setting: Time Travel (1940s) Premise: If mysterious new transfer student Harry appears in Tom’s sixth year in a state of near complete amnesia. Why I rec it: One of the defining character traits of Tom Riddle is that he’s an absolute genius — the most talented academic mind to ever walk through the doors of Hogwarts — and this fic absolutely delivers on that aspect. Told from Tom’s POV, this fic is like reading a complex multidisciplinary text spanning philosophy and physics and mathematics and magical theory, all interconnected by the mystery of how Harry appeared and where he came from and why he is so utterly forgettable to everyone but Tom.
found by @honbug (E, 112k, WIP)
Setting: Non-Magical AU Premise: If Tom grows up in a world with no magic, but has had strange recurring dreams his whole life — dreams of a boy with green eyes and a scar, dreams of a dark graveyard and magical snakes and other mysterious things. Why I rec it: The character work done in this fic is absolutely breathtaking — one of the best character studies of Tom Riddle I’ve ever come across. This is a Tom who grew up without magic, but is no less cold and vicious and psychopathic and teetering on the edge of madness. The story arc follows Tom from his early childhood through his rise as a ruthless leader in an organized crime syndicate not unlike the Death Eaters — all the while that he’s haunted by dreams of Harry, his Harry, even as the dreams start to drive him to the brink of insanity.
how large the teeth by MaidenMotherCrone (E, 257k, complete)
Setting: Voldemort Wins AU Premise: If Harry grows up as an outcast in a world where Grindelwald and Voldemort have already won long before he is born, but he’s still the subject of a prophecy that designates him as their world’s savior. Why I rec it: The worldbuilding is so exquisite and complex in this fic — the author did a spectacular job at completely reimagining the wizarding world from the ground up if the Dark Lord were to win a long time ago and how their extremely inequitable society would subsequently be structured. Harry’s defiance throughout is lovely, and his growing entanglement with Voldemort adds to all the high-stakes and risky moves that he makes throughout the fic. The plotline is very action-packed — a lot of complex plot threads are interwoven throughout the story, with an undercurrent of revolution and discontent simmering under the surface until it explodes in a glorious finale.
In Willing Sacrifice by @hikarimeroperiddle (M, 1,197k, WIP)
Setting: Canon Divergence – Book 4 Premise: If Harry finds Voldemort in Riddle Manor the summer before his fourth year, and enters into an unlikely alliance with him before returning to school that year. Why I rec it: This fic covers so much ground — at 1.2 million words (so far!), it’s the most detailed rewrite of canon starting from book 4 that I’ve ever come across, weaving in plenty of magical theory and political intrigue as Voldemort takes Harry under his protection initially in a mentor capacity. The relationship between Harry and Voldemort unfolds in such a beautiful way in this fic — with Harry growing to fall in love with Voldemort, despite all of Voldemort’s murderous and violent qualities, without losing an ounce of his humanity or the inherent goodness inside of his heart along the way.
Lover's Spit by @blogalinda, @k3uuu (E, 88k, WIP)
Setting: Non-Magical AU Premise: If Harry and Tom grow up in a small town together in northern England, and Tom has harbored an obsession for Harry ever since primary school. Why I rec it: An absolutely stunning coming-of-age story set in modern times. This story is striking in so many different ways. It perfectly captures the voice of fringe internet communities in such an authentic way. It also poignantly captures the social isolation and erosion of privacy from living in a small town where gossip spreads like wildfire, and how the internet amplifies these dynamics. At the core of the story is a really sweet love story between Tom and Harry that I am literally obsessed with — every single one of their interactions is so tender and pure — and it’s such a startling contrast to how Tom’s internet persona is portrayed that makes the sweetness all the more heartfelt.
Mi Aedijekit by @kitastrophea (M, 282k, WIP)
Setting: Post-Canon Premise: If Harry is captured by Voldemort and placed under the Draught of Living Death, only to awaken in the far future where Voldemort has ruled over their world for over a thousand years. Why I rec it: A linguistic and sociological tour de force. When Harry wakes up from his magical coma over a thousand years into the future, the world has been entirely transformed, and the skill and effort that the author undertook in fleshing out a society where there’s been a thousand years of cultural change and evolution in language can’t be understated. One of the most unique and fun aspects of the story is learning the new vocabulary of the future alongside Harry for the first time. I love how the fic examines how even Voldemort gets bored with immortality after a millennia of ruling — and how, even with a thousand years separating them and memories of the earlier times scattered to the wind, Harry and Voldemort are still inextricably drawn together.
Of Kings, Of Pawns, and Of Men by @ambivalens999 (E, 129k, WIP)
Setting: Canon Divergence – Book 5 Premise: If Voldemort ends up in Harry’s body and Harry ends up in Tom Riddle’s body after a bad encounter with the dementors at the beginning of book 5, and they can’t figure out how to swap back. Why I rec it: This is such an interesting take on the bodyswap trope, which is given a very serious and plotty treatment here. For fear of the safety of his friends, Harry has to go along with returning to his 5th year at Hogwarts in Tom Riddle’s body and being sorted into Slytherin house, while Tom passes himself off as Harry Potter. There’s a mystery behind the depth of Tom’s knowledge and familiarity with Harry, as he knows more about Harry than even Voldemort should. Is it the scar horcrux? Is it Voldemort? Is it something else entirely? The inherent combativeness and magnetism between Harry and Tom keep the tension high as they push each other’s buttons and circle around each other like wolves trying to establish dominance.
Phobia by @katsitting (E, 48k, complete)
Setting: Post-Canon Premise: If Voldemort captures Harry and brutally tortures him to the point of breaking. Why I rec it: This fic does not sugarcoat Voldemort’s capacity for cruelty and sadism in any way, and I admire the author’s commitment to depicting the most horrific of scenarios. Having read countless fics with this setup, I’ll be honest, the depiction in this fic is probably the most likely outcome of any Voldemort-captures-Harry scenario. They do not fall in love. It is not a fun time for Harry. There is gore; there is brutal prisoner torture; there is extremely extensive non-con. I found it very raw and unvarnished — not an easy read, but a very memorable and evocative one. And yet, despite the themes of darkness explored in this fic, it ends on a note of hope.
The Foul (part 1) / The Great (part 2) by @meles-merrivale (M, 24k, complete)
Setting: Time Travel Premise: If Harry gets thrown back in time a thousand years into the past, and does whatever it takes to stay alive until he can meet up with Voldemort again. Why I rec it: This is a fantastic depiction of the slow descent into madness following a disastrous time travel accident and what a thousand years of immortality does to one’s sanity. It’s also a great exploration of the time travel paradox and whether anyone has the power to change the past, or if pivotal historical events are, by their very nature, predetermined. By the time Harry encounters Voldemort again, he is a shell of the person he used to be, but gradually, he finds more of his original humanity and spark for life the more his relationship with Voldemort progresses.

“Granny?” Ivy cries. “I hate granny.”
“You’re not supposed to hate your grandmother,” I point out as I unwind the vacuum cord. “Even if she is… the way that she is.”
“I’m telling the truth.”
“Alright, well maybe don’t tell the truth in front of mom and dad.”
“Ugh! For how long?”
“I don’t know, a few hours. Five, maybe.”
“Five hours?”
“Bring a book.” I find a socket behind a potted plant and fumble with the plug. “Or you can have my iPod. Actually, you can have and keep it.”
“Okay, but whenever we put on music at her house, she complains and says it’s the devil’s.”
“Not all music, just the Rolling Stones.” I point out. “Actually, Mick Jagger. She said he was the devil personified, remember?” I think she came up with that line in the sixties, thought it was poignant, and hasn't stopped saying it for the rest of her life. I don’t even listen to the Rolling Stones. She just assumes all my music must be theirs, because she hates it with the same vigour as she did Beggar’s Banquet.
“‘Oh, what are you reading, Ivy? Something by some old cowboy?’” Ivy says in this plummy, pretty spot-on impression of Granny Hyland, who also likes to call everyone she doesn’t like a cowboy, for reasons I could never grasp. That includes me, of course, that time I shaved my head.
“‘I’d prefer that children didn’t speak at the dinner table, and that they ate all of their disgusting, soggy peas and carrots that I’ve put no salt on. And don't scrape your cutlery on my ugly plates!’” Ivy goes on. A direct quote, probably.
I swear I can see Granny now, sitting there, all thin and powdery in her musty, Glasnevin Victorian that one of us is one day cursed to inherit. She’s always seemed so old, even though she’s still only in the first half of her sixties. How she would sit there at the table, gripping her knife and fork over Christmas dinner with those weird, rheumatic hands and jawing on about manners, she was like a turn of the century relic.
My decision to throw a party tonight has condemned my sister to an evening of that, and for that, I’m guilty.
Ivy throws herself onto the settee, her hair spilling over the floor.
“Move your rat tails or I’ll suck them up in the hoover,” I mutter.
“Why are you hoovering? Irene does that for us.”
I sigh. “I guess I’m the cleaner today.”
“Why?”
“Because mom and dad said so.”
She frowns. “Why would they say that? If they want the house cleaned, they would just phone her to come and do it.”
“Yeah, I know, but they’re teaching me a lesson.”
“A lesson about what?”
“I don’t know, hoovering, I suppose. Move.” I scoop her hair out of the way, then hit the wrong button on the hoover. The cord retracts and tightens.
Ivy sits up. “Who’s coming to your party? Anyone cool?”
“Define ‘cool’.”
She shrugs. She doesn’t really know what cool is in an Irish way, only in that glossy, American tween show way she knows from watching TV at her friend Ella’s house. I’ve wanted to tell her nicely that if those smiley kids wearing belts on top of their t-shirts from her beloved Camp Rock went to school here, they’d have the contents of the canteen bins chucked over them while inside the bathroom stalls, but they’re cool to her, so I just let her enjoy it before she realises.
“It’s just gonna be some people from school, that’s all.”
“What about your friends from summer?”
I laugh awkwardly. “I don’t know. Maybe I’ll ask them. They probably won’t come.”
“Why?”
“Because they live far away, and it’s short notice.”
“You should ask. You’re going away tomorrow. Maybe they’d come because it’s the last chance to see you.”
“It won’t be the last chance. I’ll be back.”
“Yeah, at Christmas,” she says, as though Christmas is the year 2036.
“Uh, yeah. Christmas. It’s not that long.”
“It is! It’s ages away! And also-”
“Ivy! I’m hoovering now. It’ll drown you out even if you keep talking.” With my foot, I whack the button, the correct one this time, and the machine roars to life. Ivy yaps on, but I just move my hand like a sock puppet. “I can’t hear you!”
She sticks out her tongue, and I stick out mine, but when she’s turned away and become interested in a bird out hopping around on the patio furniture, I pull my phone from my pocket and tap out a hasty message.
Having a goodbye thing at my house. Will you come?
It’s several minutes before Evie replies, and by then, I already assume that she won’t, in that kind of sad, desperate way, familiar to me only from my pubescent MSN days. By the time my phone vibrates, I jump.
Okay, what time?
I type back:
Seven. Look, I know you’re in Offaly, obviously, so you’re welcome to stay if you need to. There’s a few people crashing here.
She won’t come. She definitely won’t come. Especially not if she has to sleep in my house. Who am I kidding? There’s all that stuff about her strict mother, and being around boys, and-
Ping.
Yeah, sounds cool. I’ll be there.
Oh.
Cool. See you later.

You are carrying the entire urban fantasy genre on your back. I just need you to know that your mind-blowing settings and worldbuilding in your fics have changed my brain chemistry, and have been formative in how I read fiction in the past few years
That’s all, I just wanted u to know how truly transformative and poignant ur work is 💕
Aww, my zesty lil rat, that is such an amazing thing to say! Thank you so much <3 I’m so glad you like what I write and that it’s had an impact on the way you read.
The truth is, whatever measure of excellence I’ve achieved is owed to the urban fantasy giants on whose shoulders I stand (or, more accurately, at whose feet I prostrate myself) to wave my little fic flag. If you enjoy my stories there’s a pretty good chance you’ll enjoy them even more, since they’re why I love it and why I write it.
So! In no particular order (but roughly older to newer) I give you a list:
The David Sullivan series by Tom Dietz – I think these were my first true urban fantasy. I haven’t read them for a few years (err, decades?) but they are indelibly etched on my brain.
Charles deLint – I have, and have read, everything by him, but my first was Moonheart. His Newford series in particular is grand.
The Bordelands series, edited by Terri Windling– Borderlands is a series of shared world anthologies (as was the style at the time) and a few full length novels, including Finder by Emma Bull and Elsewhere and Nevernever by Will Shetterly. If David Sullivan lured me in, Borderlands was the food I ate that doomed me to dwell here forever.
The Last Hot Time by John M Ford – is this part of the Borderlands series? No. Could it be? Hell yes!
War for the Oaks by Emma Bull (hot damn, this is still one of my faves).
The Book of Night with Moon and its sequels by Dianne Duane
Tanya Huff - The Vicki Nelson series, its follow up Smoke series (vampires in Toronto and Vancouver, respectively), the Keeper’s Chronicles, and the Enchantment Emporium series (again, all her stuff is incredible, just not all urban fantasy)
Christopher Moore - anything set in our current world, particularly Practical Demonkeeping (my first! Got it for two bucks in the bargain bin; it has since cost me several thousand dollars), the Death Merchant Chronicles, Pine Cove series, and Vampires in San Francisco (I mean, it’s all good, but some of it’s not Urban Fantasy.
A Lee Martinez - anything set in our current world (ditto the above, it's all good). Helen and Troy’s Epic Road Quest is my fave.
Tentatively adding David Prill and Bradley Denton, although they're more urban weirdness (maybe magical realism?) than urban fantasy. They were formative, however.
The John Dies at the End series by Jason Pargin (aka David Wong) (maybe more horrorish than urban fantasy)
TJ Klune – The House in the Cerulean Sea, its sequel Somewhere Beyond the Sea, Under the Whispering Door, In the Lives of Puppets
Anything by Seanan McGuire, but her main series are: October Daye, InCryptid, and Wayward Children. Also, MIDDLEGAME and its sequels. (She also writes as Mira Grant if you want smart scary – start with Feed. So good.)

A/N: Firstly, English isn't my native language, so pleeease forgive me if you come across any errors while reading. It's my first fanfiction, but I've planned it so so so much and I sincerely hope you have as much fun reading it as I had writing it!
"Well, she is..." A torrent of reminiscences flooded your mind, evoking memories of your youthful days, your time together in high school, and the challenging battles you fought to progress in your careers, always finding each other and nurturing your affection whenever circumstances permitted. "the love of my life."
In that poignant moment, it felt as though the air itself froze in your lungs, while a profound chill coursed through your entire being, setting your stomach aflutter.
"So, enlighten us on the factors contributing to your current state of not being together," the interviewer probed.
"We're constantly in each other's company, you know, whenever we can orchestrate it," you responded with a chuckle. "We're currently living the pinnacle of our lives, I mean, career-wise, you know? Måneskin is rocking it worldwide and I've got a TV series and two movies in the pipeline. It's quite a juggling act. Therefore, we're doing our utmost, just going with the flow."
You and the journalist continued to engage in lively discussions covering various topics, including your professional journey and the prospects of your upcoming projects. However, it was the part about your personal life that made you the most jittery. You had openly professed your love for Victoria in an interview for one of the biggest magazines in the world. Not that you both had never expressed your feelings for each other before, but this was different.
"What is the projected publication date for the article?" you inquired of the journalist.
"In a fortnight. Why do you ask? Regretting any of your statements?" she inquired, with a touch of suspicion yet clandestinely relishing the notion of your potential regret.
"Oh, not in the slightest," you responded, chuckling. "Simply curious."
🎸
"Guess who's rocking the cover of Rolling Stone!" your publicist burst into the dressing room, where you were getting ready for a TV show.
"Finally!" You widened your eyes and asked for a moment to quickly skim through the article. Of all the topics discussed, the focal point inevitably became your heartfelt declaration of love for Victoria, as though you had never before professed your love to her.
As you read snippets of the article, your phone rang, and a snapshot of you and Vic materialized with her name.
"Ciao cuore mio," you enthusiastically answered the call.
"So, am I really the love of your life?" Vic responded, her smile palpable.
"Did you read the magazine? I forewarned you, they would exploit it shamelessly, akin to treasure seekers lusting after gold."
"I only read the parts that piqued my interest, obviously. You look absolutely hot in the photoshoot they did. I want a poster of each of those pictures to plaster on the ceiling of every hotel I stay at during our tour." You struggle to contain your laughter, but it's futile.
You both shared a laugh for a moment. You needed to get back to doing your makeup, but hearing Victoria's voice was so invigorating. You missed her immensely.
"I wanna see you. It's been far too long since our last encounter, I can't bear it any longer," Victoria whispered the final sentence, sending shivers down your spine.
You were aware that the band was in the midst of their tour, so if you didn't go to meet her, you wouldn't be able to see each other.
"I have a recording session today, but I'm available all weekend. Where will you be?"
"Hmmm, we'll be passing through Germany. We have a concert in Berlin today and another in Cologne tomorrow. I'll have Sunday free. Fancy a little adventure around Germany?"
"Only if I have a backstage pass for the concert in Cologne."
"You always do, Y/N," Victoria replied confidently.
"Deal, now I have to go, I'm running terribly late. See you there."
🎸
At 7pm, you strolled into the dressing room accompanied by the security guards. Vic, Thomas and Ethan were gathered in a room adorned with an array of intriguing items, and serendipitously, you entered just as Victoria enveloped Thomas from behind, insinuating an intimate encounter. The vibrant energy exuded in that moment reignited a sense of belonging within you.
"I can't believe I made it to this amazing gathering!" You exclaim boisterously, bursting into laughter.
"Now the Måneskin is complete!" Thomas bellows, thrusting his hands into the air as he approaches to embrace you.
"Mia cara amica Y/N, I saved some slices of pizza for you," Ethan chimes in, hugging you while holding his drumsticks.
Damiano appears, shouting something incomprehensible, and in an instant, you find yourself on his shoulders.
"She's the love of my life," Damiano exclaims, mimicking your voice and bursting into laughter. "I've loved her ever since I grasped the true meaning of love. So much love for her!"
You close your eyes and burst into laughter as Damiano playfully mocks you, creating a nostalgic atmosphere where you all feel like carefree teenagers once again.
Suddenly, Victoria appears, perched atop Ethan's shoulders, mirroring your playful stance. You lock eyes, and in that moment, the world seems to stand still, leaving only the two of you. Having been apart for several months, every reunion is an explosion of emotions. One particular phrase she shared with you after a year-long separation still resonates: "I wanna swim between your thighs” Not long after that, Victoria confessed that, inspired by the night you spent together, she wrote "For Your Love" in just 20 minutes.
Your train of thought was abruptly halted when Damiano playfully released you, allowing Victoria to seize your face with both hands. With a glimmer of excitement in her eyes, she examined your features before planting a passionate kiss on your lips.
Regrettably, the kiss was short-lived, as they needed to take the stage. You accompanied them backstage, assisting Damiano and Thomas with their attire. When you approached Victoria to lend a hand, she awaited you with a radiant smile.
"I promise, once we're finished, I'll be completely devoted to you," she pledged, punctuating her words with one final kiss before donning her blazer.
"Oh, baby, rest assured, I'll be right here, hungrily devouring every captivating moment of the concert, my desires ignited by your mesmerizing performance."
"Mmm, I can feel the exhilaration coursing through my veins, knowing that this time, those deliciously naughty cravings will surpass your wildest imagination and materialize into an intoxicating reality."
She gave you a mischievous grin and, before turning towards the stage, playfully blew you an air kiss.
The concert was absolutely mind-blowing. The four of them were rocking it harder than ever, and your heart swelled with pride, having been there since their very first dream of starting a band and supporting them through every phase. Whenever Victoria had a chance to come backstage, she would shower you with passionate kisses, leaving you breathless.
By the end of the concert, they were buzzing with energy.
"You guys were fucking amazing!! I love you so much, I missed you!"
"We missed you too!" Ethan shouted over the roaring crowd, and Thomas nodded in agreement.
"Now that you're a big-shot actress, it's rare to see you tagging along to concerts with us," teased Damiano, laughing and tousling his hair. "But enough with this drama, I know you and Victoria are burning up inside. So go on, go head to the hotel and have a blast!"
"Next time, I'll bring Giorgia along so you won't be bored out of your mind, alright?"
We were teasing each other while Victoria changed outfits, and when she emerged in a different ensemble from the one she wore on stage, you, Damiano, and Thomas attempted to mimic a challenging dance move Thomas had seen on TikTok. Ethan, on the other hand, dared you to perform the same dance while he evaluated and gave it a rating.
As soon as you laid eyes on her, she looked absolutely stunning, even more down-to-earth than she did just moments ago on stage.
"Alright, enough fooling around, I've won, and my prize is Victoria. See you later." You halted the dance, approached Victoria, and planted a kiss on her lips.
🎸
You hop into an Uber to head back to the hotel, chatting away during the ride. Conversation has never been an issue for you both—you always have so much to catch up on since your lives are jam-packed, leaving little time for heart-to-heart talks.
"Last week, I was in Paris, did you catch that? Y/N, I stumbled upon this incredible restaurant that we absolutely have to try together. It's right up your alley, with all your favorite things. The whole time I was there, I couldn't stop thinking about you," she confessed.
"Was that the day you called me, and I couldn't pick up?"
"Yes, exactly! I just wanted to hear your voice. Sometimes it sucks being so far away from you," she replied, her gaze lowered as her hand gently glided up your thighs.
"We've arrived," the driver announces, and you step out of the car.
The moments leading up to entering Victoria's hotel room were a whirlwind for you, consumed by thoughts of indulging in every inch of her captivating form.
As soon as she locked the door behind you, her eyes locked onto yours, a potent mix of desire and admiration shining through. You yearned for her, craving her presence in every imaginable way. With a seductive grin, Vic shrugged off her jacket, revealing a tantalizing hint of her confidence. Closing the distance between you, she extended her hand and deftly slipped the coat off her shoulders, letting it fall carelessly to the floor.
"Now you're all mine," she whispered, pressing her lips against your exposed shoulders, playfully nibbling at your neck.
"And you're all mine, just us here," you whispered, your voice laced with possessiveness and adoration. With a gentle caress, you twirled a strand of her hair around your finger, relishing in its silky touch against your skin. In that moment, the world faded away, leaving only the two of you entwined in a uniquely intimate bond.
With a daring move, she firmly grasped your hips, asserting her dominance. In one swift motion, she pressed you against the wall, a mischievous grin playing on her lips. A surge of anticipation shot through you as your back met the unyielding surface.
Driven by a heady mix of desire and control, her hands began their ascent. One arm encircled you possessively, drawing you closer, while the other embarked on a tantalizingly slow journey, inching higher and higher. The tension mounted, testing your patience, until at last, she cupped your breast, igniting a surge of pleasure that rippled through your entire being.
Vic pulled back her hands with a mischievous grin.
"Not yet," she said, slowly stepping backward toward her bed, still holding your hand, her gaze fixed on you.
She undressed you completely, leaving you completely naked. A triumphant smirk played on her lips as she pushed you onto the bed, delighting in the sight of her breasts bouncing.
"I missed you so much," she whispered.
Crawling on top of you, she captured your wrists, trapping you beneath her. Her lips crashed against yours, trailing down to your chin and neck. She ravished your skin, sucking and nibbling, leaving a trail of moist kisses in her path. Then, with purposeful motion, she positioned her knee between your thighs, pressing it against your moist center. A gasp escaped her lips as you instinctively moved your hips forward.
She showered your body with kisses, leaving love bites on your sides, hips, and thighs. Her gentle touch caressed your heated skin, sending shivers of delight through your body. Vic reveled in teasing you, savoring the sound of your moans. At last, she focused her attention on your most sensitive areas, her mischievous grin fueling your excitement.
Her fingers embarked on a tantalizing dance, teasing your folds and stroking your clit. As she slid two fingers inside you, she lowered her face, nestling it between your thighs. Vic's warm breath against your skin sent waves of pleasure coursing through your body. With deliberate slowness, she lavished your clit with a long, languid lick, her tongue pressing firmly against it. Your moans filled the air as you instinctively reached out, tangling your fingers in her blonde locks, pulling her closer to you.
Vic increased the speed of her fingers, skillfully exploring every inch of her pulsating pussy, creating a symphony of juicy, tantalizing sounds. She eagerly sucked on your clit, simultaneously thrusting her fingers in and out with rapidity. The intensity heightened, your muscles tensing, and your body edging closer to the precipice. You couldn't help but let out loud moans, the pleasure intensifying within you.
And then it happened. Your climax crashed over you like a wild wave, and you couldn't suppress the loud scream that escaped your lips. Waves of ecstasy engulfed you as you experienced the euphoric release.
Vic continued to bestow attention on your sensitive folds, indulging in a few more licks of your pussy before planting a gentle kiss on your thigh, a silent sign of satisfaction.
"I missed you so, so much," she whispered, her mouth and chin still glistening, soaked with anticipation.
"Well, now it's my turn..." you whispered, a mischievous grin spreading across your face as you pulled her down, aligning your eyes with hers.
You pressed your lips against hers in a passionate kiss, and then shifted on top of her, reversing roles. This time, you took the lead and embarked on fulfilling her deepest desires, transporting her to euphoric heights just as she had done for you.

I saw a while back you were asked what your favorite interpretations of Shadow and Amy were.
While I don’t disagree (haven’t played heroes so can’t comment there, but have beat SA2) I was curious on your views over Sonic 06 version of Shadow? Ignoring the heavy problems with the game itself, I’m personally a heavy fan of the VA and how he acts.
It may be selfish of me… but I kinda wish Amy got more interactions with Shadow instead of Silver. I get WHY they did it, but I feel like it could of been nice to have them reunite and maybe even contrast the end of SA2 y’know?
First post about my favorite Shadow & Amy portrayals, SA2 and Heroes
Follow-up about Sonic Battle and Sonic Chronicles
I love both Shadow AND Amy in that game!
06 Shadow in particular has been getting a ton of interest in the past few years, and it’s wonderful to see. I considered including it in that first post about my favorites. 06 being such a failure gameplay-wise really screwed things up for the series for a long time. Sega learned all the wrong lessons. No more humans apart from Eggman. No more dark, serious plotlines. One-dimensional characters. No playable characters apart from Sonic in mainline games. None of the others can talk to anyone but Sonic. Obviously there were exceptions to this, but the series lost so much. Sonic 06 is older than most Sonic fans, but we’re only just now getting all of that back with Frontiers, IDW, etc.
This would have been bad enough on its own, but coming off the heels of Sonic 06, it hurt that much more. Sega decided Team Dark weren’t friends directly after their most poignant interactions. Shadow knew who he was. He knew what was important. And he knew he could trust the best friends by his side. When’s the last time he was so self-assured? That’s the downside of the 06 timeline being erased in the end. We know Shadow and Team Dark’s potential, but he doesn’t remember any of it.
That said, I’m ultimately still glad it’s erased. I’d hate for Shadow to go through life knowing the humans would reprogram his own best friend to hunt him down and lock him up forever. It says great things about Shadow, but it makes me like the humans a lot less.
It’s thanks to 06 that I consider Shadow to be the biggest hero in the franchise. This clip encompasses everything that makes his heroism unique:
youtube
“If the world chooses to become my enemy...I will fight like I always have.”
Iconic. Badass. I love the way he drops his inhibitors as he talks. This is Jason Griffith’s delivery at its best.
Sonic fights to protect his friends and the planet he calls home, along with the humans and Mobians who all love him, but there are SO MANY people who’ve treated Shadow like filth, and he still protects them. There’s no one else in canon who’s that selfless, and I also like that 06 doesn’t lean on Maria as the reason he does all this. Shadow himself is a good person and does good things for his own reasons, not just because she told him to.
Heroes proved this, too. Shadow didn’t even remember Maria in that game, but he still made the right call. Maria’s important, but she’s not the only reason he’s a good person.
Jason Griffith does a very good job as Shadow here and elsewhere, but David Humphrey is and always will be my favorite Shadow VA. If Jason is an A-rank, David is S-ranked. I’d be thrilled to have either of them back.
You’ll never see me judge anyone for wanting more Shadow/Amy interactions. I’ve thought the same thing with 06, and I love the Silver/Amy bits, too. She has an adorable scene with him AND starts him on the path to redemption. It’s the Amy Rose Special. I also like how she and Shadow inadvertently worked together to turn him around. Amy raised a question Silver hadn’t thought to ask, and Shadow showed him the answer.
But what this demonstrates to me is that this didn’t have to be an either/or situation.
It would’ve been nice for Amy to reunite with Silver and see how he turned things around. They were both there for the final battle, but they didn’t speak to each other. What if they’d had a scene with all three of them together? I hypothesized about that possibility in headcanon #99.
Side note: I just want to say that I think Amy is great in 06. She has the same cute accidental hug/elevator speech combo she used to turn Shadow around in SA2, but people sleep on it in 06 for some reason. On top of that, a lot of fans willfully misinterpret one particular line of hers. And anyone who knows Sonic 06 knows which one that is.
“If I had to choose between the world and Sonic, I would choose Sonic!”
I’ve seen so many people say she’s a dumb, ridiculous fangirl for this, and I can’t stand it. She’s not saying the rest of the world doesn’t matter, she’s saying that she has so much faith in Sonic as a person that she’d take his side even if the rest of the world said he was wrong. And, uh...she has good reason to! It’s not the first time he’s been falsely accused of something. It’s like these fans conveniently forgot what happened in SA2 the second they saw an opportunity to hurl insults at Amy.
You know what Amy’s line reminds me of most?
“Even if you believe everyone in the world will be against you, know that I’ll always remain by your side. Remember that.”
Yeah. That line everyone loves about ultimate loyalty for someone you care about. The line that many consider to be Rouge’s best. The only difference is that Rouge is a calm young adult talking about a friend, while Amy was an upset young girl whose feelings were too big for careful phrasing and restraint. Combine that with how much hate there was for her at the time, and you have a great, dedicated line absolutely drowned in ice-cold, bad faith takes from the fandom. And Silver needed that fervor to make him question Mephiles, too! It had to be her! It was because he saw how strongly she felt about Sonic that he started having second thoughts. You think a calm statement like Rouge’s could have made him back down from attempted murder?
Much like with Shadow in SA2, it had to be Amy. 06 did a great job with her. Some fans still need to wise up about it. They’ve been recognizing how awesome 06 Shadow is, so maybe, just maybe, they’ll do the same for Amy someday.

AHEM
Are you tired of watching TV shows with wlw romances on Netflix and Amazon Prime and Disney Plus and so on that just keep getting canceled? Even if they did well statistically?
Did you love Warrior Nun? Willow? Paper Girls? The Wilds? The Owl House? First Kill? Etc?
Have you repeatedly had your heart broken by these massive, homophobic companies that are ruining TV?
Do you want to see a slow burn wlw relationship that was planned FROM THE BEGINNING finally culminate into something beautiful? Something earned? In a show that isn’t going to just be canceled? In a show that has more story to tell? Where we will get to see their relationship develop even further as they deal with trying to save the world together?
Then you should watch RWBY.
There are a multitude of reasons why you should watch RWBY that I’ve mentioned in other posts like this and this. But, at this particular moment with the cancel your gays trend still going strong, RWBY is a pretty safe show to gravitate toward. (I say pretty because, I mean, obvs shit can happen. But at the moment I'm confident the show is here to stay for quite some time because it's the biggest show of its production company and it's currently expanding quite a lot with other media.) It’s a bit of a haven, if you will. A balm for many of us.
Bumbleby (Blake and Yang/Black and Yellow) is THE MAIN SHIP of the show, between two of the titular ladies. Not just some side story. TWO OF THE MAIN PROTAGONISTS.
AND IT IS CANON!
A blonde and a dark haired lady! A cat girl and her useless lesbian girlfriend! The sunny golden retriever and her brooding cat girlfriend! They are literally coded (including COLOR CODED) to be together!
And there will be MORE!
Bumbleby has meant A LOT to many of us in the fandom. And it has definitely been a long time coming. Many of us weren’t sure it would ever happen. But it HAS. It was planned from the beginning and it was done BEAUTIFULLY.
(For those of you who don’t know, the picture is a tweet posted by the creator of RWBY, presumably about Bumbleby, given it was posted a few days after a very poignant interaction between Blake and Yang first aired back in the early days)
In short, WATCH RWBY IF YOU’RE ALSO FUCKING TIRED OF CANCEL YOUR GAYS! BUMBLEBY IS WORTH IT!

5, 28, 30, 38
This is from this ask game. Feel free to send more!
5) Share one of your strengths.
I have a hard time doing this since I’m not always the most confident writer in the world, but I think I’m really good at mixing philosophy with writing. One of my favorite things to do is explore characters’ belief systems and their morals, what they view as right and good and natural, and I think I’ve gotten good at portraying that through writing. Specifically I think I’ve gotten really good at writing about Mulder’s self-sacrificial complex, and I’m also proud of how I wrote Scully’s relationship with miracles in Caught on Tape and her views on the symbiotic nature of her and Mulder’s partnership in Piece Me Together.
28) Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
Only three?!?! This fandom has so so many talented writers! But I’ll try.
@california-112 just finished their October ficlet series, and I highly recommend checking it out. They’re fantastic at all genres, but I especially love all of their hurt/comfort oneshots and there are PLENTY to be found! They’re so multitalented, you’ll find something in the series for everyone. I’ll link it here.
@baronessblixen is a staple in this fandom, so I’m sure I don’t need to explain, but I call her the queen of fluff for a reason. I cannot write fluff at all, so every time I read her work I am in awe of how she’s able to make me feel so good and floaty without being over the top or saccharine. She’s also hilarious! And though she dabbles less in angst, the few fics I’ve read where she has have been fantastic!
Here’s two of my favorites by her.
Finally we have @thursdayinspace who needs no introduction. From angst to fluff, there’s nothing they can’t write, and reading one of their fics is a guaranteed good experience. These are the fics I will remember for weeks to come and reread over and over again. I can’t speak to any of their explicit stuff bc that’s not my thing personally, but I know it’s pretty beloved in the fandom, so do check it out if it’s your thing!
Here’s a few of my favorites but I recommend all of their stuff!
And even though she’s on a TXF hiatus right now, shout-out to @theswisscheeserag ! My favorite mutual beta reader who never fails to make me laugh. She is actually the funniest writer ever but her stuff is also deeply poignant. All of her stuff is fantastic, but Redial will always be one of my favorites.
30) Do you accept prompts?
ALWAYS! What I do NOT accept are time-sensitive prompts because I am a busy college student and will not make promises I don’t know I can keep. HOWEVER I absolutely adore getting prompts and if you send me a prompt it will absolutely make my day always and forever.
38) Talk about a review that made your day.
Every review makes my day! The fact that people are actually reading my work shocks me daily (in the best way).
But @emmiebea left a comment on Raise Your Voices that really made my day, because they said that they actually follow the folk music links I include with each chapter and have been enjoying them. That just made me SO happy because it means that at least one person knows more folk music than they did before because of what I wrote, and that just makes me over the moon🌙
Seriously though. I love all of you❤️

JUST A REMINDER FOR THE POLLING: in the name of absolute fairness and objectivity, i’m posting every single Mel Blanc yell. that means Every Single Yell and, yes, obviously includes all of the deplorable racist ones as well. i’m making it my absolute priority to pair these with the appropriate warnings and trigger tags.
i know (and continue to hope) that these polls get spread around, and will obviously lose sight of those who are a bit more intimate with what i do on my blog and the research i cover. i understand that my posting these clips can be interpreted as an endorsement. i’m trying my best to maintain as much objectivity as possible with these polls, because, otherwise, the entire thing is worthless. so, that unfortunately means uploading those warts.
those following me know i’m currently in a years-long process of analyzing every single Looney Tunes short, and, like these polls, that warrants every single ones. i can obviously spare a little more subjectivity in those circumstances, and i do my best to consistently mark disclaimers that are much more poignant in regarding my condemnation of these caricatures and heinous acts. i really do not want to misconstrue perceptions and make it seem as though i condone these caricatures or cartoons through my posting of them. but, obviously i know that just by posting them, the harm is already done, and me saying “but i tagged it!” obviously doesn’t negate that.
i just don’t want it to seem like i don’t already know that. i absolutely do. just as i take accountability for what i post. as someone deeply invested in animation history and pop culture history, especially within the first half of the 20th century, the safety and comfort of my followers when dealing with this information is one of my absolute highest priorities. i’m certainly not immune from criticism nor making mistakes, and that’s why i absolutely advocate for those to let me know if i’ve ever said or done something harmful so i can rectify that as soon as possible. and i deeply appreciate those who have done so thus far. likewise, if anyone has any more efficient ways of making this an easier process, i’m all ears.
thank you for listening. i realize this isn’t fun, and i fully take responsibility for my posting. at the same time, i hope my intentions can be a little more clear. i’m incredibly grateful for the support and participation this little venture has garnered so far, and eagerly awaiting where it takes us. i just ask for your patience and understanding. thank you.

HP Rec Fest, Day 28
I’ve been reccing underrated fics since this blog was created and so I thought “there’s no easier @hprecfest prompt than this one” lol famous last words, this post took me ages to prepare 😂 I was initially overwhelmed by the amount of fics that came to mind, and going through my bookmarks and old recs only made it worse. How was I supposed to shortlist?? In the end I gave up and decided to rec 2 Drarry fics + 2 rare pairs. I could have included so many more but I really didn’t want this to become a tl;dr post and these rec blurbs are already going out of control, so here we go!
Day 28) an under-rated fic:
Drarry
In Dreams by @moonflower-rose (E, 38k)
Harry wasn't expecting to ever see Draco Malfoy again. He also wasn't expecting to walk into a political conspiracy that morning either, but apparently that's exactly what the day has in store for him.
I’ve screamed quite a few times about this fic (see my rec here) and every time I do it’s in the hopes that more folks will stop whatever they’re doing and go feast on this. not only a delicious and intriguing case fic with Rosie’s trademark epic dialogue and superb sense of humour, this also wins the award of best fic opening I have ever read. the way I gasped at chapter one and am forever haunted by its utterly devastating ending oh my god!!! my heart belongs to this gritty Harry, and the slow burn is masterfully crafted within the urgency of their teamwork to solve the mystery combining comfort, grief and hope in a thrilling, poignant and perfectly paced adventure. plus, the emotional payoff is chef’s kiss, honestly I cannot recommend this enough!
Survival of the Species by @romaine2424 (E, 47k)
Draco approaches Harry on the 9 ¾ platform, after their sons have boarded the Hogwarts Express, and invites him over for tea. The discussion they have leads them on an adventure that neither could have expected. There be dragons! HPDH compliant but before any other canon info had been released.
considering this masterpiece was published back in 2007 I think I’m allowed to say this is definitely a formative story when it comes to the creature genre, more specifically Veela fic. I first read this a couple years ago and my jaw legit dropped at the amount of world-building and carefully researched lore that went into this. so detailed and intricate and different from everything I’ve seen before or since, I was truly fascinated and couldn’t stop reading. kudos to the amazing slow burn covering years of their struggles stuck together in a dragon cave and having to rely on each other to survive. I loved seeing the hardships and how they genuinely came to care for each other, definitely one of the most moving and convincing Veela love stories I’ve read in the fandom.
Rare pair
With a Look by earlybloomingparentheses (Ginny + Deamus, E, 5k)
Now, twenty years old and done with boys and looking forward very much to putting her hand down some lucky girl’s shirt later this evening, Ginny looks at Dean Thomas’s gold-painted fingernails and feels heat pool between her legs.
I think about this fic every now and then - such a sensitive, thought-provoking and beautiful homage to the 🏳️🌈 community. the visceral and contemplative tone takes it beyond your regular PWP, and I’ve rarely seen gender and queerness explored quite like this. seeing Ginny figuring out and owning her identify is mesmerizing. her voice is powerful, sexy, earnest and articulates so many complex and layered feelings - I was particularly moved by the inner turmoil of not looking “queer enough”. I’m sure this fic will be eye-opening and comforting to so many people out there, and that’s why I never cease to rec it. an intimate character study, a sinfully hot and self-indulgent threesome but above anything, a poignant love letter to the queer community.
Passion, Patents, and Pen Pals at the Ministry by @violetclarity and @yrfrndfrnkly, art by @anaxandria-writes and @veelawings (Hermione/Pansy, T, 32k)
After an extremely ill-timed lovers'-tiff-turned-food-fight at the Ministry leaves her less one boyfriend and suspended without pay for six months, Hermione pleads for some position–anything–to fill her days until her suspension is up. The good news is, her temporary position in the Magical Games & Sports's Ludicrous Patents office is just down the corridor from Harry's office in General Inquiries. The bad news is Harry's officemate is Pansy Parkinson, the Ministry's operations are shockingly outdated, and every altercation between Hermione and Pansy winds up a headline in MoM's internal rogue gossip zine, Hot Goss.
rivals to secret pen pals to lovers yes please?? this hilarious Pansmione is a ship triumph and yet criminally underrated. I had a blast getting into the world of Ministry gossip & politics, and immediately fell in love with all the characters, l especially with this lovely meddling Harry. it’s SO MUCH FUN to watch poor him (and Blaise omg what a duo) in the middle of a ladies’ tug of war. I’m impressed by the amount of world-building especially around their workplace, not to mention all the side interactions and the fun, organic slow burn. I love this take on identity porn with tons of banter and Pansy and Mione connecting through their shared worldview and feminist principles, such a power couple ✊🏼 the mix of semi-epistolary, witty dialogue, dorky meddling friends and mild angst make for peak entertaining, I laughed non-stop and cheered so bad for them. femslash ftw!!!

A Southern Devil In Hoodoo + Story
original art by me
For African Americans in the south, the Devil can be seen as a trickster or a figure who would tests a individual, but he can also be invoked for personal gain through rituals. The man in black is associated with mystery and crossing boundaries, a figure of the supernatural. These concepts intertwine with hoodoo beliefs, that in the bible there is a God and a Devil. "One who love you and One who love to tricks you".
Not all teachers in the African spiritual systems don't normally teach about good and evil. Instead the lesson is that both work together in this world to create harmony. Light and Dark, Good and Bad, Right and Wrong are all necessary aspects of God's creation. But I think that the ancestors might have seen two deities who are able to bless and curse. Maybe both God and the Devil were seen as something greater than themselves.
What I find most interesting about working with the devil or darker side from a hoodoo perspective is that it takes on the forms of many different invocations, spells that are found in all types of ceremonial magic in all types of spiritual practices.
It would normally start with a prayer to God right, so if one can work with God and the Devil as total opposites, then it would make sense to first invoke the protection of the greatest good before calling on the power of the greatest evil.
Well anyways i hope that this can provide further clarity and understanding for those who are honestly pursuing knowledge on the real traditional spiritual practices.
Now to the story. Below is a fictional story. This story is of a young black man who has nothing, but wants it all. It also includes some of my own experience that helps provide a unique look in the hoodoo practice.
Nothing in this stories is meant to be performed in real life by any practitioners, but for those who like that world, I wish you luck.
"Have you ever heard of the spirit known as Old Scratch"? They speak about him in whispers late at night when they think no one's listening. I think they’re talking about the Devil, but they say he's done good things for them, so he might be something else altogether. He might be an angel for all I know. They say he can grant wishes if you offer him something in return. I can't fight the feeling of going and finding out for myself. I don't own any silver or gold, so what could I possibly offer him in return?
The Story: written by Papa J.
In the forlorn backwaters of a forgotten town, the embers of an ancient legend of Old Scratch smoldered in the heart of a young man named Ezekiel. Destitute and hungry, he possessed nothing but an unyielding hunger for a better life. Haunted by the poignant words of his beloved grandmother, a tale of the crossroads and a sinister figure known as 'Old Scratch' had etched itself upon his soul.
Now don't get me wrong going to a crossroads to get everything I want sounds pretty good, but what can I offer him when I don't have anything to give.
The pastor always said that "The Devil is fighting to get our souls, so I might just offer him that. What else would a poor southern boy with no wife, no money and no family would need with a soul anyway? I might as well get something for it like that old blues man Robert Johnson. Lol. Yes sir..
But I wonder if God would be mad at me for offering my soul to the Devil. The bible says that God created everything, if that's true he must have created the Devil too and if he did then why would he create a soul if it wasn't supposed to be used for something?
God would understand. I wasn't blessed with riches or love, or family, how else am I supposed to have the life I want? God wouldn't have given me all these things if he didn't want me to take things into my own hands.
Besides, no one will ever know what I’ve done.
To do this he needs to remember how the story that his grandmother had told him.
I remember as my grandmother spoke about where to find the spirit of Old Scratch and how to summon his spirit. She would say that some people summon him at the crossroads and others can call him at the cemetery. Well the cemetery was too creepy.
But i had to go to either a crossed road or a cemetery at night dressed in all black and wearing a hat to cover my head. I had to wear a crucifix necklace for protection.
So Ezekiel to heads out early to make it to the intersection by midnight.
He begin by saying the Lord's prayer, for further protection against the tricks that Old Scratch would play on him, he love to pray on people's minds. After saying the Lord’s prayer three times, she said to lay down three pennies, a bottle of whiskey, and a cigar along with my greatest offering. We know what that was...
After laying down my offering, I had to say the Lord’s prayer in reverse three times and knock three times on the ground. Then speak “Man in black, Old dirty Scratch, I have work for you to do come forth and grant me what I desire. ”After saying this three times. I should tell him my wish and what I was willing to exchange in return for his work, and then I should wait for his spirit to appear. If his spirit does not appear in awhile, knock three times again and repeat:
After the ritual, a spectral form emerged from the darkness. I thought he would just appear like in the movies but he didn't. But what I saw was a man traveling down the road at the time of my call.
My grandmother told me that he would sometimes appear as a white man, sometimes a black man or even a innocent looking child but he was always dressed in black with a rimmed hat.
"I am Old Scratch. State your desires, and I shall grant them". 'Ezekiel's heart pounded in his chest.
I told him I desire wealth beyond measure, a life of love, money, luxury, family and the power to command respect.'
My grandmother was right, he did tried to trick me but I did everything she said and he said everything she said he would.
She told me “When his spirit comes to you, hold your crucifix necklace and remember your faith in God. Your faith will protect you from Old Scratches tricks.” Granny said. “That old Devil will ask for even more, no matter how great the offering is, you must deny him more.
Next, he will pretend to be your friend, and ask again in the sweetest and most inviting tone. You must deny him again. Then, he will threaten evil upon you and your household if you do not give him what he asks for. This is where you need to call upon the names of God to command him:“In the name of El Sheddi, in the name of Adoni, in the name of Elohim,
I told him i want to make a deal and I would exchange my soul for it. I thought he would give me a paper to sign like in 'Ghost Rider' but he just smiled, and tipped his hat to me and continued on down the road. My grandmother said that when the deal was done, you should turn away and leave from the offering and walk away and don't look back.
A cruel smile spread across Old Scratch's face. 'Your desires shall be fulfilled. But know this, mortal, a heavy price will be paid.
The next day I went back to the crossroads the offerings were gone so I assumed he accepted my offer.
'True to his word, that next night Old Scratch bestowed upon Ezekiel immense riches. His coffers overflowed with gold, and servants catered to his every whim. Months passed by when he met his wife they eventually had three children, Years passed and Ezekiel have everything he ever wanted but yet, with each passing day, Ezekiel felt a gnawing emptiness within.
But his mind wandered remembering the night he made the deal with the stranger. I wondered when my soul was due. Ten years have passed since then. I he couldn't shake that feeling. When would the Devil collect?
The wealth he had longed for brought him no solace. As power swelled within him, so too did his arrogance. He became ruthless and devoid of compassion, dismissing the needs of others. The people he once cared for now trembled in his presence.
Thirty years have passed since then. As a old man I witnessed the deaths of all my kin Here I sit all alone. Only if I had truly known the cost, Perhaps my spirit wouldn't be lost.
On one night, Ezekiel realized the true extent of his pact. As he lay alone in his opulent mansion, with no love ones around anymore and a town full of people who once loved him. Old Scratch appeared beside him, his eyes gleaming with cold indifference.
'Your debt has come due, mortal. 'In that moment, Ezekiel understood that his grandmother's tale was no mere fable. The crossroads deal had ensnared him in an unbreakable covenant. His soul was forfeit. As Old Scratch claimed his prize, Ezekiel's screams echoed through the empty halls, a chilling reminder of the ancient warning: "Be careful what you wish for, for the Devil may take you at your word". And so, the legend of Ezekiel, the man who sold his soul for his greatest desires, was passed down through generations, a cautionary tale of the perils that lie in the shadows of unbridled ambition.

It is interesting that in the same book we are given the possibility of Gwynriel, we're shown the budding friendship of Azriel and Nesta. SJM could have gone the same route of Azriel and Nesta that she did with Rhys but instead, she made it so both Az and Nesta were the only two characters who really saw one another for everything they are and did not turn away from one another.
She leaned back in her chair and said to Cassian, who was frowning at both of them, “I want to train with him instead.”
Alone with Azriel, Nesta bared her teeth at him. Azriel watched her with that cool quiet, keeping utterly still. Like he saw everything in her head. Her bruised heart.
Azriel went on, “In the week I’ve been watching her, I … learned what her next steps are.” The way he hesitated before he said learned said enough: he’d tortured it out of someone. Many people. (Nesta is aware of what Az does yet it never changes the way she treats him).
Nesta watched the shadowsinger with a frankness that most people shied from. Azriel returned the look with a stillness that most people ran from. Even Feyre had been hesitant around Az initially, but Nesta considered him with the same unflinching assessment she laid upon everyone.
Maybe that was why Azriel had never said a bad word about Nesta. Never seemed inclined to start a fight with her. She saw him, and was not afraid of him. There weren’t many people who fit that bill.
Nesta couldn’t help clinging to Azriel, gleaning on some innate level that if she let go, she would tumble through this space between places and be lost forever.
And then she jumped to her feet and flung her arms around Azriel. The room went silent for a beat. But Azriel chuckled and squeezed her gently. Cassian smiled to see it—to see them. “Thank you,” Nesta said, quickly pulling away to marvel at the device. “It’s brilliant.” Azriel blushed and stepped back, shadows swirling.
Pride filled his chest at that—and relief. It had only increased when he’d noticed that she’d cared enough about Az’s aloofness to go up to him to chat.
Cassian and Az seem to do more together than even Rhys and Az or Rhys and Cassian. To me it's poignant that if Az and Gwyn end up together, they both already share a strong connection to Nesta (Gwyn as one of her best friends and Az's brothers mate).
It's also interesting that Cassian was the first male Gwyn became comfortable with.
The Nesta / Az friendship and Cassian / Gwyn situation seems very intentional on SJMs part, especially if they are characters who are building their own found family (including Emerie) together in addition to what they have with Feyre and Rhys.

I've seen you mention on some posts that Ninjago had an affect on your relationship with being Asian, and I was wondering if you had any thoughts you wanted to share on the subject of Asian representation in Ninjago.
Feel free to disregard if the subject is too personal.
This is absolutely fine! In fact I’ve been itching for an excuse to talk about it for a while, because this show deeply influenced my writing growing up, and honestly I'm sick of most of the people getting noticed for discussing it being white.
So, I think Ninjago’s Asian representation is garbage. It’s not unique: there was a common trend in 2010’s kids’ media to make everything cooler by including Ninjas or, more generally, Asians Doing Martial Arts. I remember it being in media as distant as Club Penguin and many Flash games back in the day, as well as worse cartoons I don’t bother to remember the name of. I’m fairly sure adult-geared Kung Fu movies also had a hand in this, but I didn’t watch those as a kid.
But Ninjago’s particularly bad in that they’ve kept doing this for over 10 years, and it’s baked into their story.
Everything from them not checking up how ‘ninjutsu’ was spelled, to them not actually making the characters have Asian skintones in that one anime segment, to that one time they based Nya’s outfit off a clearly named Cheongsam from Pinterest and called it a Kimono? It all just reeks of people who wanted to make a quick buck of an entire continent’s ‘aesthetic’ and the mysticism around it, rather than portray them as actual people.
There’s a really great website by someone (who I can’t remember the username of) detailing all the Orientalism of the show up until about season 10. It dives very deeply into how the design language of Ninjago always seems to be based in making the actually ‘Asian’ parts of the show evoke more of a feeling of East Asia than actually being accurate to any one culture, and a lot of inaccuracies and why they arose.
A poignant point it raises is that any time we get a cool character or place, they’re always portrayed as more western-coded and ‘civilised.’ Jamanakai Village is poor and the villagers are rude. Ninjago City is civilised and clearly closer to what white people are used to living in. Lloyd is this world’s destined saviour, and he is blonde. There was *one* Asian voice actor on the VA team. And 2/3 of the Ninja team is white-coded by name.
Some my own observations over the years also include:
Jay’s ‘yin to my yang saying’ being completely made up.
That intro to… season 7, I think? Where the Ninja fight off some slave-drivers whipping people working a rice farm. Which never gets brought up again.
Nadakhan’s entire design is the only bit of South-Asian rep we get for the first few years, and his mythology is inaccurate to how actual Djinn work, and he’s acknowledged by the creators to have a sexy voice and be an absolute creep.
Having enjoyed Monkie Kid, I think Ninjago’s Asian rep is fundamentally unfixable. It was built to appeal to a western audience that simply thought the concept of ninja were cool, and thought of Asia only as a conglomerate where people had powers and did cool fight sequences or were otherwise savages. And also where the entirety of South Asia doesn't exist.
Like, I've tried to make an AU where I overhauled things completely to be better rep, and you just can't do it without breaking the show in half. Half of a character's name comes from Japan, and the other half from China. You're going to be losing something whatever you choose (shout out to Koko from the movie), and it gets uncomfortable to think about real quick, especially when the show's strongest suit is its characters.
As a kid who was part of a diaspora, Ninjago definitely didn't help my fucked up viewpoint of being cool only if I passed as white enough and viewed my parents' country as a magical but ancient land rather than part of reality.
#like legit that website and seriously thinking about all this lead to me bringing this up to my therapist and unpacking it lmao#I think that's as personal as I will get with it#thank you for giving me this ask I was feeling kinda down tonight and this let me calm down a bit lol#i'd apologise to all my non-ninjago followers for the wall of text but i love this mutual of mine and they *will* get interesting commentar#ninjago critical#asks#dots dots dots

You can’t keep a good dog down, Charlie Brown.
When NASA launched a mission to the moon last week, the unmanned cabin included a stuffed Snoopy in an orange flight suit.
The space beagle was among the small items that serve as “zero gravity indicators,” which visually signal that the capsule has reached “the weightlessness of microgravity.”
Turns out, the agency couldn’t have picked a better pop culture symbol:
For seven decades, Snoopy and the rest of the “Peanuts” gang have defied the forces of time, freed from the gravitational pull of trends.
The globally beloved cartoon characters still pop up daily in comic strips, books and gift shops, as well as in animated specials, both new ones and the classic holiday programs such as “A Charlie Brown Christmas” that now stream on Apple TV Plus.
“Peanuts” is in the ether as surely as the jazzy Vince Guaraldi Trio riffs that bounce along the airwaves once Christmastime is here.
This year, the headquarters of Team Peanuts in Santa Rosa, California, has another reason to hold gatherings at its museum and library and ceremonies at its ice rink:
It’s the centennial of the birth of “Peanuts” creator Charles M. “Sparky” Schulz, who was born 26 November 1922 and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Schulz died in February 2000, the same weekend that his final original strip was published.
Yet what he launched into the zeitgeist in 1950 remains a cultural touchstone. On Saturday, many syndicated cartoonists will mark the centennial in their strips.
So why does “Peanuts” endure so strongly — remaining so firmly woven into the fabric of popular culture — when so many aspects of mass entertainment all but disappear?
Jeannie Schulz, widow of the cartoonist and president of the Charles M. Schulz Museum’s board of directors, puts it concisely:
“Sparky tapped into a universal humanity and translated it into simple lines with a subtle humor.”
Those elegant, poignant, slyly simple lines curled and curved their way into religion and sports and war and mental health and love unrequited.
To mark the centennial, The Washington Post asked celebrities from various areas of achievement what Schulz’s creation has meant to them.
‘As good as anything ever’
Producer Lee Mendelson approached Schulz in the mid-’60s with an idea: Coca-Cola was interested in a TV project.
Out of that seed grew one of the two greatest animated Christmas shows to emerge from that decade: a classic that, like “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” melded the genius of artistic minds.
Schulz teamed with animator Bill Melendez and, working under a deadline of mere months, the three men created “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” a masterpiece that daringly led with its heart.
Charlie Brown battled seasonal depression, Snoopy engaged in flights of fancy and Linus Van Pelt delivered the biblical monologue that, out of the mouths of a babe, still moves viewers regardless of age or faith.
“Over the course of my life, I’ve probably watched ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ more times than any single episode of television,” late-night host Jimmy Kimmel says. “It’s one of the main reasons I decided to have more kids.”
Kimmel thinks that special reflects the larger excellence of what a boy from Minnesota ultimately gave to the world.
“As soon as our daughter Jane learned to read, I bought her all the ‘Peanuts’ anthologies,” the comedian says. “I bought an original drawing of Snoopy by Charles Schulz that may very well be a forgery. I cherish it even if it is.
“The best of Peanuts is as good as anything ever. For me, it’s one of the greatest achievements in American art and literature.”
Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter, director of such films as “Inside Out” and “Up,” says that brilliance was firmly rooted in the comic strip, which launched in fewer than a dozen newspapers before eventually being syndicated to thousands, becoming one of the most widely read strips in the world.
“Schulz was brave enough to talk about human, adult, often non-funny things in his strip,” Docter says. “He featured kids dealing with anxiety, insecurity, jealousy, unrequited love, which gave ‘Peanuts’ a real weight and importance.”
Growing up in Minnesota himself, Docter was drawn into a world that stays with him today.
“As a kid, I was totally hooked by Snoopy and the escapist fun and humor of that character,” he says.
“But whether Schulz was conscious of it or not, it was those deeper emotional things that made me continue to read into adulthood. Those deceptively simply drawn characters have real complexity and depth."
“And besides, they’re still funny 70 years later. How many comic strips can claim that?”
Bay Area author Gene Luen Yang considers how Schulz’s comic evolved from revelation to quiet revolution.
Says Yang, author of such graphic novels as “American Born Chinese”:
“He is so influential that pretty much every strip-format comic today, whether in the newspaper or on the web, has borrowed a bit of that innovation.”
‘We stayed close’
Ever the athlete, Schulz embraced baseball, golf and hockey from a young age. He grew to love sports like tennis and these passions regularly found their way into his strip.
Before he befriended some professional athletes well into his career, though, Schulz could not have known how much he buoyed them.
“As a young skater growing up, it was always fun to see the comic strip and celebrate everything we experienced at the rink,” says figure skater Scott Hamilton, who won Olympic gold in 1984.
“To see the ‘Peanuts’ [characters] come alive on the ice made it seem like what we were doing was more than just skating. We had a place in popular culture.”
Schulz relocated to Northern California in the late ’50s, but you couldn’t take the Minnesota boyhood out of the man.
In Santa Rosa, he built the Redwood Empire Ice Arena, also known as Snoopy’s Home Ice, in 1969. And there, in the early ’80s, Hamilton began working with Schulz on ice shows.
(The skater will host “Sparky’s Ice Spectacular” at the venue on Saturday to mark the centennial.)
“Sparky was very hands-on in everything he did,” Hamilton says.
“In one of the productions I did for him, he had this dream of doing a cocktail party where I got to play the host of the party.
That character was interested in a girl at the party, but she gets swept off her feet by another guest, kind of like his stories of the Little Red-Haired Girl in the comic strip. Just when it seems he lost the girl, she comes back after all the other guests had left.”
Adds Hamilton, “To see how much Sparky loved that production made it one of my all-time favorite skating memories.”
Schulz also became a strong supporter of equality in sports, which included joining the board of trustees of the Women’s Sports Foundation, founded in 1974 by tennis icon and civil rights activist Billie Jean King, to “advance the lives of women and girls through sports and physical activity.”
Schulz would not only draw Snoopy serving aces. He would also reference his friend King.
“Sparky was actually very shy, and his comic strips were a great source of inspiration and comfort for me, especially as I traveled the world during my tennis career,” King says.
“I knew if he added my name to a ‘Peanuts’ strip, he was checking in on me and wanted to have a chat.
“We stayed close until he passed, and I will always cherish that.”
’A perfect pairing’
Mendelson, who died in 2019, believed in creative serendipity. He once told The Post that the first time he heard the music of Vince Guaraldi — while driving across the Golden Gate Bridge — he thought he might use it someday.
Singer-songwriter Ben Folds views Guaraldi’s music as inseparable from the classic “Peanuts” animation it accompanied.
“When you match the music with ‘Peanuts’ and the era and what it was doing and saying, then it starts to hit like Beethoven Piano Sonata time,” Folds says of Guaraldi’s sunny West Coast sound that “distilled jazz into something popular.”
Guaraldi’s “Peanuts” songs and the animated specials were “a perfect pairing,” he says, adding that the music “just gets the vibe.”
That “loomed large” when Folds was asked to write theme music for the recent streaming Peanuts special, “It’s the Small Things, Charlie Brown.”
He meditated on Guaraldi’s music rather than trying to imitate it: “I didn’t try to drop riffs. I just went with the color.”
‘Pursue their dream’
This month, “Jump Start” creator Robb Armstrong appeared on a Schulz Museum panel with other celebrated cartoonists to share personal stories about the Sparky they knew.
As he sat onstage, Armstrong appreciated that Schulz “made other budding artists either realize their dream, pursue their dream or smooth the road on their journey.”
“He was one of the most grand-hearted human beings I’ve ever encountered,” Armstrong says.
A 6-year-old Armstrong was inspired by “Peanuts” in the summer of 1968, when Schulz integrated the strip by introducing a Black character: Franklin.
Armstrong’s reaction: “I’m in this strip.”
(About a quarter-century later, Schulz gave Franklin the last name of “Armstrong” in a salute to his friend and syndicated colleague, an honor the “Jump Start” creator calls “otherworldly.”)
Barbara Brandon-Croft, the trailblazing creator of the comic “Where I’m Coming From,” also responded strongly in 1968.
“I was excited to see a Black character in ‘Peanuts.’ Even if Franklin’s presence was only that — a Black kid amongst the group — it absolutely made a difference,” she says."
“When you grow up as an ‘other,’ which is what this country laid out for us, when you see yourself represented, it gives you a sense of belonging.”
‘The cool astronaut’
Schulz, a World War II Army veteran, was long fascinated with aviation.
NASA and “Peanuts” have a long relationship that includes the Silver Snoopy Award, which is bestowed upon outstanding NASA contractors and employees.
In 1969, Schulz appeared in public alongside the Apollo 10 astronauts who rode in the module called “Charlie Brown.”
That was also the year that a future astronaut was inspired by Snoopy and space.
“In 1969, the Mets won the World Series, [astronauts] landed on the moon and I went to see ‘A Boy Named Charlie Brown,’ the new animated feature, at Radio City Music Hall, says Mike Massimino, an engineering professor and space adviser.
“It all happened within a few months of each other, and it kind of set up the passions for the rest of my life.”
That year, Massimino received a stuffed Snoopy astronaut toy as a gift.
In 2009, on his second NASA space mission, Massimino took that same Snoopy toy into space, a symbol of his lasting attachment to “Peanuts.”
Noting that his attempts to become an astronaut failed three times before he was accepted, Massimino says he admires Charlie Brown’s spirit of optimistic resilience.
“Charlie Brown is the friend and person I wanted to be, and Snoopy is the cool astronaut I wanted to be,” Massimino says.
Adds the astronaut, “I think it’s the greatest comic strip and characters ever created.”
