ok, mscm au pitch idea i won't ever write but is cool to me. i always wondered what happened to jesse in the worlds where they were "made useful" by pama with the headset on and now i'm thinking about how damaging being absorbed into a VR world that knows your every waking thought would be. so: au where the headset plan is not successful, but instead of making jesse "useful", pama traps them in a nightmare VR world while ivor and petra/lukas save crown mesa without their psudo leader.

here's what i'm thinking. 1: jesse is about to save harper, but is found out by pama. 2: pama realizes "well i can't get u from where you are and i can't make you useful without a chip, soooo i'm gonna lock ur body down until i find a way to get you out. yay!" and then locks jesse's consiousness from the outside. 3: jesse is now stuck in VR World while their body is just dead in the Real World. ivor and petra/lukas freaak the fuck out, but like, what can they do?? nothing!! all they can hope for is to keep jesse's body safe down there while they head up and face the Horrors. so they leave jesse in harper's bed, take the water buckets, and head out. they can only hope to save this world, or they're fuckedddd

so adventure ensues. they go out, but since its mostly canon compliant, what we'll focus on is jesse. i can't decide between a fucked up Time Loop (i love time loops, mmm) and have the horror be subtle or have each of their deepest fears just WHAMMED at them without pause. i feel like pama would do the former, since its just subtle enough to keep them busy and not make them realize the fakeness--time loops are weird enough. i guess it'd be something like...hmmmm. actually?? there could be a lot of possibilities. could be a world where killing the withee storm goes wrong, a dimension in the portal network killing them leaving beacontown to rot, SEEING beacontown be succumbed to monsters in jesse's absense, and such like. something just fake enough for them to believe there's something else going on that isn't VR (but just as terrifying).

and at some point, pama comes up with the brilliant plan to MINE up to the surface, because PAMA KNOWS WHERE THEY ARE. so they then pilot jesse's body to make it upside and join in just in time for the climatic battle at the redstone heart--a sort of added pizzaz. so ivor fights one and petra/lukas fights the other...and the whole time, jesse thinks it sjust another illusion in their VR World, so they fight HARD. and, ofc, no one can really beat jesse in a fight, its Plot Armor, so the person fighting them JUSTTT lives. like straight up almost gets fucking murdered.

so redstone heart is yanked out. petra/lukas is unchipped. but pama won't get away that easily, because guess what, the headset isn't a part of pama's whole network. they can hack into it, yes, but the programming is harper's. so then there's a Jesse (Not Really) vs Everyone Else fight lmaoo sorry i have to do it. its so very emotional to me. the solution will be simple ofc (knocking off the headset) but that's HARD since they have to get through JESSE to do that.

and in that minute or so fighting, the rest of the gang truly begin to see past the surface of totally confident and brave jesse. they're vulnerable, they're scared, and pama keeps flitting between full control and none since they're dying, but jesse keeps fighting anyway, bevause they think its fake. they seriously believe they're in a whole other situation than what they're really in, and like. that's pretty important. to finally see through the shell of your friend, your leader, reduced down to their very, very scared core. petra will finally understand why jesse feels the need to be the one call the shots. lukas will finally understand that jesse is not the perfect and epic hero that he found himself to believe, and will love them even more for it. ivor will finally understand that gabriel's predecessor is both just like and nothing like him, and damn it, he needs to stop holding that shit against them. and harper will learn that jesse needs to get the fuck home, because wow, they really are just a scared kid trying to get home. fucking hell im making mcsm angst someone save me

A human, a mortal, arriving to Alagadda did not happen so often.

The first day you were in Alagadda nobody seemed to tell that you are human. On the second day a citizen who had seen you drop a piece of paper accidentally, went and picked it up and gave it to you. He spoke a language you seemed to never have heard before. Obviously you couldn't respond and he figured out you could not speak the language.

The only people who can't speak Alagaddian are outsiders. The man left after the awkward encounter and told all the people that he knew.

Rubedo the red Lord was very popular in the bars and no surprise he had herd the news of the outsider.

Before telling anyone he went and searched for you.

What he did not expect was your beauty, beautiful plum lips that were colored in red, probably lipstick, the way your mask covered the top of your face and made you look beautiful, your hair laying on your head and decorating your face.

Despite your beauty and his free personality he was still a Lord so he had to capture you and bring you to the palace.

At the palace, two masked guards were holding you, so you would not run away. You look at where you are, seems to be a throne room. You were correct there was a throne in the middle of the room and a top of it sat a being that looked like a dead corpse, it's face was covered with a veil. Looking at his body you could not help but imagine the horror that lies behind his veil.

Ugh, you didn't even want to imagine it. On the side of the room stood three masked men. One in yellow, one in red and one is white. They were all extremely tall.

Who were they?

You were snapped out of your thoughts when the red one spoke.

"Your majesty, I regret to inform you that this outsider was found in your city" he said.

The king spoke in what seemed to be an odd language and the man in red nodded.

"I think that is perfect, your majesty" the man dresses in red said.

In a moment the guards were taking you some where in a not so gentle manner.

"Hey! Wait, where are you taking me" you yelled trying to get out of the guards arms but you were too weak.

You were taken down to what seemed to be a basement and thrown into a prison cell.

"Hey! Let me out" you screamed at the guards but they completely ignored you.

After some time, the man dresses in white that was in the throne room came into the basement and sat on a chair in front of the cell.

"What are you doing here, mortal" he had asked.

"Let me out! " you yelled at the man.

"Answer my questions and we'll consider that " he said clearly not amazed by your behavior.

" I was out with my friends and they told me about a "cursed" door that led into another world and the ritual on how to open it" you stated telling.

" I told them that the door was sjust a legend and not real, so they dared me to do the ritual and I did unknowing that it was real. I'm sorry, I would have left but the door disappeared the moment I got in" you pledged.

The man in white nodded. " I understand" he said and left the room.

You called out after him but nothing.

After what felt like hours he came back with the guards and let you out.

"Follow me" he said and stated walking. He stopped and said " oh and, if you try anything stupid you will be executed immediately, so I don't recommend it"

You decided to follow him quietly as to keep your life.

You two ended up in what seemed to be a living room. On the big Victorian style couch sat the two other men from the throne room, red and yellow.

"Sit down" the man in white said and offered you a seat on the couch across from the one the men sat on.

You obeyed.

"I'm Albedo". said the man in white. "That is Citrinitas" he said he continued pointing at the yellow man "and finally that is Rubedo" he finished pointing to the man in red, who gave you a small wave.

" We are the Lord's of this city, we understand your trouble and wish to help you exit the city" he proclaimed.

"Why are you helping me? " you questioned the white man who was now known to you as Albedo.

"Because we want you out of the city as much as you want out" he explained.

"The time the citizens realized you were an outsider they freaked out" said Rubedo.

You have a slight nod.

You had to trust these men. You had no other choice.

"Alright, I trust you" you said.

"Wonderful! " Rubedo spoke out loud.

Does Viserys ignore the children he had with Alicent in the book? Although in the series, it's clearly more Viserys' illness that's the cause of less time with the kids, rather than him disliking them and willfully ignoring them.

Viserys obviously favored Rhaenyra (politically). But I feel it is tied to how Show!him had a real romantic connection with Aemma yet killed her without her knowledge or consent so he could have a son who didn’t live long anyway.

Adding to that, from the trauma of losing several of his pre-kids/kids to miscarriages and stillbirths and his wife probably almost dying in some of those pregnancies--a daughter is still better than having no  kids at all because he genuinely wanted kids, and because this is a feudal world where inheritance and lineage leads to pride, identity,  security and power--Viserys would also care for or favor Rhaenyra even more. Rhaenrya s his first child of a series of children who all died; she is kinda his "miracle child as well as the child that officially made him a father.

Like how you hear and read fathers value their child after their mother died giving birth to them, Viserys would see this daughter as his only connection to Aemma as well as try to “make it up” to her by making their only daughter successful.

So he is more attached to Rhaenyra other than her being the only child Aemma ever could bring into being successfully.

(This does not mean that Viserys’ pain matters or is more than Aemma’s emotional and physical pain. The betrayal she would have felt when she realized Viserys was cosigning her final moments to pain--without her knowledge or permission. Because it doesn’t--he is still accountable and I dislike him and people like him. I’m saying that before he did this to Aemma, he did experience lost hopes for an heir as well as pain from having his children die before they could ever be.)

It also doesn’t mean that he doesn’t value Rhaenyra as his progeny or offspring. 

He didn’t fully value her as his potential heir, or as a true, politically autonomous agent in her own right.

In the show, however, I also think that a combination of:

his rotting

Alicent's constant protests against Rhaenyra and her children/his accepted grandkids

his finding out about Otto’s hand in pushing Alicent and Viserys having to even pursue this after Young Rhaenyra told him that Otto overstepped his bounds as someone not even a part of the royal family and having her followed without royal permission and Viseys’ added guilt or confliction about that moment where he did a fuck up himself and tried to go at Rhaenyra, when he was so shortsighted himslef

all comes to him choosing to be more hands off towards his green kids and let Alicent and Rhaenyra's rivalry foment until major events happened.

His determination to keep Rhaenyra in her position that all comes across as him just “loving” Rhaenyra to an extreme to some people watching the show.

In the Book Fire and Blood and by Original Canon Lore 

He had complications with his weight. Over time, he experienced more chest tightness and gout that get worse until he finally dies. Stress would have exacerbated it--his worries with his wife and daughter duking it out constantly, the tension at court, his worries over the succession, etc.

There was no literal decay. And there isn't a solid, or direct indication or quote that shows us he actively favored Rhaenyra more than his other kids.

There is also no indication that he would or did kill Aemma for Baelon (dead son) in the book.

However, we can read between the lines and reason that he valued Rhaenyra differently then his other kids for the same reasons I listed about Show!Viserys, even if Aemma had just died on her own. For being his only child by Book!Aemma, who still dies trying to birth him an heir. Doesn't mean that he didn't love them, in the book, we see he spends time with Helaena and her kids, one of those moment sjust hours before his death When he's telling them stories about past Targ generations ("A Question of Succession"):

Other than what I already said about the sort of love he has for her...

1)

Politics: public image and house reputation and what we can hide and manipulate to maintain control. 

If Rhaenyra is revealed to have bastard kids, then the house cannot deny the shame (objectively it is not shameful for a woman to have kids out of wedlock no more than it is for a man to do similar. Shameful in terms of cheating on your spouse if you two did not agree to an nonexclusive arrangement beforehand. But otherwise, not shameful. In the context of medieval politics and patriarchy, it becomes shameful to have this out in the open...and even then, it depends on the political climate of the persons).

But if it is kept hidden, then the reputation doesn’t completely falter, the line of succession goes throuhg Rhaenyra, and the whole house doesn’t face censure.

Plus he had already named Rhaenyra heir long ago.

While you are the monarch and can change the heir while the previous is still alive, to change the heir would have come across as revealing or “admitting” Rhaenyra’s not having trueborn sons. 

Defeating the entire purpose of protecting her and going against the need and cultural compulsion to uphold his and his house’s own public image/reputation.

So Viserys wanted to make sure the throne kept his feudal dignity. 

Feudalist power and monarchy.....you know, the thing the Greens canonically wanted just for itself in the first place?

2)

The other reason why Rhaenyra is allowed to get way with her sons’ illegitimacy is because Viserys wants to keep her and the grandsons he accepts as his grandsons alive. Because he loves them.

Viserys is not a good father, but he is not Tywin Lannister--one of the most evil fathers to exist in Westerosi history.

I doubt a father/grandfather who has some real caring for their child/granfchild, no matter their position, would allow his child and grandchild’s lives to be forfeit.

If Rhaenyra is publicly revealed with inscrutable evidence that he can’t just ignore and deny or hide (Vaemond wasn’t enough) to have had illegitimate children, then her kids could die, could be exiled, or face total ruination to the point they can’t live in Westeros without facing worldwide hatred for being illegitmate.

Which, by the way, comes from a bogus Faith belief.  The same religion rules that children who are born out of wedlock (parents who weren’t married to each other) are inherently untrustworthy. The logic is that because these people are born from “lust, lies, and weakness, and as such, they are said to be wanton and treacherous by nature”.

This is blood purity, anon. That one would actually believe that a person is inherently evil, dangerous and lesser than another because their birth didn’t happen within a marriage is to say that people can have inherently traits that define their entire being and value in society forever and ever.

So not only do we had the risk of women all over Westeros losing even more ability to use political power, we also have the seeds of racism/outright classicism and discrimination.

Which affects every single person in a society and would make them define their entire worth according to external, socially-constructed ideology. Creating a divide between those "deserving" and those not.

Since my aus use my headcanons, without Adam to help Jonah stand up to his parents, especially his father, Jonah never gets away from them. He stays well dressed and composed, doing everything his father wants him too. He forces himself to start passing again, less he feel his father's anger, and eventually enrolls in law school like his father wanted him too. He is very messed up at this point.. like I said are you satisfied hits it on the head. He takes to smoking and even drinking sometimes to cope, though his father keeps him from getting addicted to anything but smoking cigarettes.

Jonah does have Evelin and Sarah however, but as time goes on he has less and less free time to see them. The two are his only real comfort and he's incredibly close with them. Neither of them can do much, though Evelin wishes she could kill Mervin but she doesn't want Jonah to know she's an alt. They make a deal that once Jonah leaves for college they'll let him stay with them and drop out so he can get away from his dad.

But as u know, Jonah finally snaps one day and gets in a screaming match with his father. He storms out into the winter night, crying and cussing his father out, while Mervin turns his back and is convinced in a short while Jonah will come crawling back...

Jonah never does, because he froze to death out in the woods that night. And thus, begins wraith Jonah's arc.
