kind of random but ! viv desperately needs to try smth other than animal motifs for her symbolism. I know animals are an easy choice for things like that, but her dependence on it is a (small) part of what makes her designs so ass.

It gets to the point to where characters have the same motif and for what? They're not connected. The least she could do is make them connected. (for example in my hazbin hotel redesigns i made all the angels have bird motifs. vaggie is a dove, adam is a rooster, lucifer a duck) I know kemonomimis and furries are fun to draw but sometimes its just plain confusing and overused. Esp when she puts more focus on that than shapes or colors or even personality sometimes! I guess I'd love to see more characters based on objects or even common phrases, fairytales, time periods, abstract concepts. Yk? There are more of these in helluva boss (even though theyre highly LACKING), some background characters are like this in hazbin. I can see the 7 sins are somewhat based on their concept, but again its lacking, because she always goes back to her animal things. And I know this whole helluverse started out with zoophobia or wtv but cmon. Whys valentino a moth? I dont know any symbolism of the moth that ties in with val, or even how he died. He'd generally be better as a shadow or a puppet master, given hes deceptive and manipulative. The animal motifs often feel tacked on, too. Like a last minute thought, or like a design first-story later thing. Which even if they are, it shouldn't feel that way. It's really just a pet peeve of mine I guess because a lot of people including 14 yr old me thought these characters were soooo high concept and unique when really they somehow have worse design principals/patterns than Spongebob (not an insult to my boy spongebob though, theyre all just sea creatures they dont need to be high concept). Animals are literally the most overused, easy way to tell the audience something (or nothing). Like jesus christ its like whatever goal they have for a character they go hmmmmmm this is hard Ill just give them cat ears ^^.

Lots of people (myself included tbh) ship klance (Keith and Lance). In s8 the creators made Allura/Lance canon (but then they killed her off and left the ending ambiguous it was weird). Anyway the fandom treats her like she's the most terrible bitchy woman ever but all she wants to do is end the war and avenge her destroyed home planet. Yeah she wasn't always the nicest or always the best, but you could argue some other characters in the show aren't either and they aren't treated near as bad as allura. people really just hate her bc Lance liked her. I don't think allura/lance are good together, but I still liked her as a character and thought she was interesting and had a lot of growth during the show. she DEF is not evil like some people portray her as in fic or talk about her in captions on posts. I've seen people say that they HATE her and that she's the worst and I'm like ??? let her live (well sort of ig she is dead now). lots of fic writers use her as the villain which is so interesting to me bc the show literally has villains like use them. anyway allura so perfectly fits the bracket description she deserves better.

I hate to acknowledge my time in this fandom but I hate the way the fandom treated her more. Allura was treated like shit no matter what side of the Great Ship War you were on because she was always a threat to the biggest ships (klance and sheith). At best she got put into Background Lesbian or Consolation Prize Shallura (Space Mom-zoned) (She was not a motherly figure btw. She was just Black). At worst she was violently demonized for being ~racist~ (kinda not cool with the alien race that blew up her planet for a few episodes), complete with misogynistic language hurled at her (she got called a bitch sooo much). Allura was a good and cool character and the show did her dirty but the fandom was somehow worse.

i apologise for speaking the dark magicks, but amidst the voltron fandoms many, many transgressions, there were a particular subset of people who just hated this girl. the infamous klance wars of the 2010s kept this perfectly fine childrens cartoon character in the sights of shippers everywhere, and she (and her voice actress im sure) were subjected to years of petty squabble blown up to global perportions. ive seen hate, ive seen rants, ive seen fanfics that made her homophobic. girls been through the ringer, and even though voltron was never the show its fandom wanted it to be, i believe allura deserved better

shes genuinely a really tragic character who had potential for a really compelling, effective arc concerning grief, identity, healing, and finding trust again all while going through the inherent ordeal of being 15 years old….if she werent a female character in a shonen anime 😭😭 instead she gets sidelined during the show up until her big plot twist reveal after which shes immediately sidelined again. whatever i still love her and know her to be a character of all time who has suffered more than jesus. in my experience shes perhaps the female character who like. ive seen most *obsessively* hated due to her “getting in the way” of the ship b/w the male protagonist + deuteragonist (bc of her proximity to the both of them) u woild think shes the devil incarnate and not just. 15 and traumatised 

She had a crush on Nagisa and they kissed and a lot of fans ship him with Karma so theyre mad that Kaede is there. She is super silly and nice but the fandom hates her for standing in the way of karmagisa.

she's a sweet person that was an actor and loves her sister. she is the main love interest of the main character but doesn't interact with him more than most of the other characters for a majority of the story. Often I have seen them removed from the story only to become some homophobic jerk that's desperate for the main characters love instead of letting her keep the good friendship that her and the main character had before the romance.

Saw the first ep of Dead Cells Imortalis

Honestly i easily get excited with things. Especially this one. But oh man do i have a lot of things to say and im trying to hold it back 😭

So its blabbin' time.. (spoilers first ep)

Yknow, this feels like those game trailers that does exposition of the introduction of the plot of it... But slightly extended. And it just leaves it underwhelming.

The pace is very quick (possibly budget issue who knows). I dont think i got enough time for Laure's character introduction. She felt like shes just.. there?? (I guess shes literally lore expositor 😭)

I'm kind of ok with Bobby, because they left him as he is, or how i always thought of him. Still an apathetic jerk who has a death wish (WOOO LOVE THAT IN IMMORTAL CHARACTERS MY FAVORITE SOUP ✨✨)

The part where Bobby and Laure started to work as a team only got told through a narration voice over. (Ig with background visuals) So not much back and forth between characters :( Till the end..

Love Bobby's little dialogue at the end (i love how much of a jerk he is screw me), but it felt like its too early for that. Well, knowing how short these series would be i guess they would cut a few things. And i guess that was needed for Laure to strike a deal with him.

And honestly, with how bare and simple the story is so far, it is still possible to have Bobby mute. There are other shows that had already done that. The game itself did. And with the first episode, I could still see it work with him not saying a word.

Laure tells him the deal. Bobby nods and gives a thumbs up.

Laure witnessed him walking away when guard said she'd kill her if he leaves.

Laure calls him out. He turns to her smirking, and continues to walk away. Laure calls him a liar.

YKNOW HOW FUN THAT WOULD BE??!?! JUST HIM MAKING SILLY GUESTURES?!?!??

I guess except for that whole Bobby dialogue at the end (and maybe the lead up to the death deal)?? But perhaps the show can express that more in later episodes??

All in all, i guess im a bit frustrated. Because I really do see the potential, and the potential makes me very excited over it. But thats just that: potential. I love Laure's conflict with her own religion and i love how she weighs on what's important to her in the moment. I love how Bobby doesnt care about anything much, because all he sees is that familiar hell and wanting to see a way out. But almost half of it seemed to be resolved in the first ep.

I'd honestly take those short, whimsical silly nature of the game trailers. If they've kept the old artstyle, i woudnt have mind if it was shorter or lesser episodes. But if theyre gonna keep this new style and make a lore heavy story out of it, at least maybe commit to it?

Perhaps im just jumping to conclusions right now since it's just the first episode, and im just fresh out of it. I've only seen it twice. So my only hope was they expand on these characters rather than just plot tools to keep the show going,.. or maybe im asking too much lol.

TL;DR.

First ep impression:

Pace way too quick. Not much character build. Guessing on budget issue. Love the idea, but a bit poorly executed.

The camera flipped and Enid finally showed her face.

“So I am totally freaking out. It may not look like it, cause I am trying really hard to contain my excitement but —” she moved closer to the camera until only the upper portion of her face was in the screen “I am at my best friend's house cause she invited me to the Valentine’s ball her family always throw”

The screen shook as Enid walked towards the guest room. The werewolf steadied the phone on the bed and the camera only showed an empty background while shuffling came from her trying on the first dress.

The top three dresses she chose were flattering. It’s not like she’s trying to make Wednesday see that she’s attractive, no.  Because she’s long accepted that Wednesday wouldn’t ever see her as more than a friend. She’s just dressing for herself, totally.

code 59 leolotus 1 and 7?

im prolly doing a bit of tweaking to code 59 lotus’ character just a tiny bit but here’s what i can share based on what i have

1 - first date

so some background. at the end of season 1, the tcri building has a massive explosion with shredder, krang, and lotus’ bodies disappearing, so everyone assumes they’re dead. in reality, they actually were teleported to dimension x, and they’re stuck there for the first half of season 2.

leo had a crush on lotus (they were starting to bond but weren’t super close yet) but now he thinks she’s dead, and also with his lost friendship with karai, he’s kinda in a down spot.

at the halfway point of season 2, krang finds a way to send one person to earth, and to shredder’s great annoyance, he chooses lotus to be their scout. so lotus is on earth now and her main task is finding out what the foot is now up to and also finding a way to reanimate the tcri portal.

but while she’s there, she meets leo again. leo’s relieved to see her. and with how kind and sincere he is, lotus is reminded why she likes him. and asks him out.

the whole time she’s kinda nervous cause she’s not sure if she should tell him about krang and shredder but lol anyways.

their first date is a museum date!!!!! a history museum. and code 59 lotus isn’t super familiar with earth history so she’s completely fascinated.

7 - something theyre scared to tell each other

well i mean . ig i just mentioned that she’s hesitant to tell leonardo about krang and shredder’s plans so ig there’s that. but otherwise, this lotus is pretty laidback. she’s good at keeping secrets, but she herself is not a very secretive person. it’s more just,,, she doesn’t bring up stuff that’s personal. but if leo asked, she’d share.

i think for leonardo,,, after karai’s betrayal (and april’s), leo gets really scared of letting people in again. and while he really really likes lotus, she also works for krang. so he makes a lot of boundaries when they reunite. he never takes her to the lair, never tells her anything about his family, rarely tells her about his enemies. it’s not till lotus starts rebelling against krang that she starts earning his trust.

i think it would start off with brian bejng betrayed by like. kentucky government idk bro this show is so goofy. and he eventually stumbles upon ainsley somehow (dont ask i didnt put much thought knto this) and they both end up relating to each other and teaming up to take down the foreign kids!!!! (ainsley doesnt know theres more involved with vera, so she automatically hates them too now, but her main goal is to like. ruin vera first)

so they both plan how to like. track them down and atuff idk turn them in since theyre wanted by thai, north korean, russian and american government ig too.... (i need to rewatch camp camp dawg😿)

i dont actually have a plot yet i jist thought this would be a funny idea. also all background characters WILL make an appearance (maybe excluding cj or whatever the new camp counciloes name is. i dont like him)

We Are Ep.2 thoughts in chronological order

what peem did in the car trying to convince phum to part their ways is what the youth calls ✨a yap sesh✨ (he tried ig) (this is what this post is as well)

we're probably never seeing phum use those things he bought ever, he'll just keep hanging around in his engineer shirt

peem has so many ppl ready to square up for him including his auntie and he is recognised by tan as someone who loves his friends very much (which makes the fact tan has sold him away for time with his crush TWICE even worse lmao)

i don't really get phum's insistence on not telling anyone about being phum's "slave", not even tan who got him into the mess or his best friend but it's just his ego ig (aside from plot reasons)

i find pun more relatable now - tags along for the funsies and gets happy around fire

not convinced the beans and pork scene wasn't an ad but im not sure how cause i didn't clock any labels

the scene where peem brings in food and laughs with q feels like improv or breaking left in lol

fai missing cause of upset stomach might be some sort of foreshadowing and i'm a bit worried bout her

the professor is handsome <3 and could pas off as chimon's sibling in a show

q absorbing those noodles was very satisfying idek why lol

peem and q's friendship is in the background but the show still constantly makes it a point that they are really good and loyal best friends

i thought "oh theyre gonna make the sharing food a thing in the future" so when boys showed up i was like "ah, we're doing it immediately? bit boring" but then he didn't share!! joey never shares food!! i think he will in the future though, him being a foodie is a constant thing so i'm guessing we're using it as a sign of compromise in the name of love or smth

satang playing this type of character felt a bit much in the first episode but i think he's getting more comfortable with the role as the show progresses and it look more natural; i'm glad his character isn't the googly eyed mentee and he actually teases a lot and snaps back but knows when to stop playing because q isn't the most patient person. (matt having to jump in like "bro he's serious" was so funny cause i hadn't clocked that either hahah)

the way we can see q flustered at certain points but seemingly unbothered at others is fun because his reactions aren't entirely predictable at this stage as we're still getting to know him. also it's mad cute when he clearly doesn't know what to do with himself

idk how he hasn't asked toey bout why he's in art yet, ig they're just now starting to properly get to know each other

toey took one look at q's back and decided "that's a cool ass aura to base my entire future around!" and tbh that's very young adult of him

q regularly asking about peem's work being submitted, he's honestyly worried <3

the way i cheered for peem burping in phum's face and then went "oh he came back :(" bahah

phum is definitely already planning his day and schedule around peem, i don't think he'd ever tell his friends because he wants to actually keep it going so one of the reasons is to not run into his faculty friends including tan and the second is to have lunch with his unconscious crush AND I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS STUPIDITY

thought peem could overhear the convo behind the car and realise what he was exchanged for but nope, he just dipped; i think that might be a plot point for later

phum not knowing tan has a crush on fang is so weird cause he genuinely acted like he knew while taunting tan, i don't have an explanation for that

fang is their p'!! i was so conviced he was the little brother, ig because of his big round eyes and the way phum acted all protective (that just makes phum cuter tbh)

what is the age difference between bar owner and prof cause i ship it

it took me a bit to realise the nongs were there instead of the full arts gang and i was glad to see toey and q together (also the green sweater is beautiful on toey, hope it makes a comeback)

i was ready to believe fang had some sort of falling out with tan with the way he treated him but tan beaming and enjoying a dreadful setting (no talking, awkward sitting around in a bar with mid music and alcohol) shows that man is glowing just from being in fang's presence (i hope he reaches ridiculous levels of lame for him)

i was screeching when i realised where things were going with wasted peem and seeing him n the bench outside had me exctaticcc (ofc he didnt book a taxi. and ofc they cant just order one for him noww could they)

phum cockblocks but he kinda has to cause there's no reason for fang to be there otherwise; once the ridiculous proposition of him taking peem home comes up he doesn't really fight it at all - he wants to be with peem, sure, but i think he's also pretty okay with tan and fang being a thing

the way i was screaming "just buy the flowers rich boy!!! he wants to go home" and then the kid went to get more lol

ofc he couldnt just leave the flowers in the backseat, peem just has to have them in his lap.. and the seatbelt scene was so predictable but it's too much of a classic with all "figuring things out" parts of a romance that i can't complain

it makes absolutely zero sense aside from people liking people (cause fang knows what he's doing too) that phum would drive peem to his house - a place where tan has sleepovers at all the time and phum hasn't been to before. fang is his brother and they can sleep at the same place as well even if they don't live together but nope. also THAT CAR HAS EMPTY BACKSEATS, if phum wanted to he would've forced them to ride with him to keep an eye on tan

fang is probably planning to launch a big revenge attack on peem and that'd be so funny, those four can get way too entangled, i could get DRAMA out of their plans and schemes (this show is more hidden agenda than hidden agenda was)

tan's energy with fang reminds me of the duracell bunny lmao it's late at night and they've had a few drinks but his mind and body are all focusedon wooing fang (who is playing nonchalant but has probably had a crush on tan as well)

also no way he was just gonna leave tan on the street lol

toey and q aleady work so well together, toey knows his effect on q more or less and q doesn't shy away from being at least a bit vulnerable as of rn; i think they can be one of the best if not the best couple if they have a proper storyline; im certainly enjoying it the more than i thought i would

the fake blush on both toey and peem is ridiculous esp up close but ig they're cartoonishly drnk anyways

auntie took note and now doesn't do facemasks at night, otherwise it would've been an amazing first meeting

IM BACK AND ITS ARC TWO TIME BABEY are you excited. i am not.

CHARACTERS:

squirrelkit/paw: one of firestar and sandstorms kits. about to be apprenticed. will become squirrelpaw immediately, basically

leafkit/paw: firesands other kit. wants to be a doctor. will become a doctor. this will never have consequences on her life /sarc

brambleclaw: bramblekit! he's an adult now.

tawnypelt: tawnykit! also an adult, now in shadowclan.

stormfur: stormpaw! an adult. (grey)

feathertail: featherpaw! an adult. (grey)

crowpaw: a windclan apprentice. hes a bit of a dick but its ok

BACKGROUND LORE:

the clans live right now in whats called the forest territories. this is because its a forest. they also have the moonstone where they talk to god (starclan)

now: arc two. the clans are being run out of their forest by humans who are. tearing out trees and shit. four cats (bramble, tawny, storm and crow) are given a vision of a lake. they must go find a new home for the clans. storm cant leave without his sister and squirrelpaw is so fucking annoying (/pos) that bramble is forced to bring her along. they walk. they bond. book ends.

the rest of the arc can be summed up similarly. they walk, they bond, they walk, they- hey wait what the fuck are there cats on this mountain?

yes. they meet the Tribe of Rushing Water, a mountain tribe of cats who are being harassed by a cougar named sharptooth. by harassed i mean killed bit by bit. they feel sad for this tribe and take refuge for a while before leaving-

but theyre stopped. the tribe was given a prophecy. a silver cat would kill sharptooth. storm and feather are both grey/silver ish. the tribe wont let the travelers leave without their silver cat. storm stays back. the others move on (walk)

they find a lake, deem it suitable for a new territory, and go back for storm. the tribe is being attacked. feathertail jumps from a ledge, breaking off a chunk of rock, and kills sharptooth, dying with him. consistently one of the top ten saddest warriors deaths ever. crowpaw was in love with her. this is incredible sad for crow and storm, and ig the other three too idk

and then they walk back to find the forest almost completely gone. humans have ravaged it. graystripe has been taken by humans (he was the only one they couldnt save) so they take the clans allllll the way back to the lake (more walking) where (in no particular order)

- territory is claimed, camps are made

- squirrelpaw is named squirrelflight

- brambleclaw is named deputy now that graystripe (former deputy) is gone

- crowpaw is given his warrior name, which he chooses, crowfeather. after feathertail, who he was in love with

oh also theyre really sad to split up. and bramble and squirrel are kinda in love (unfortunately).

side note, we see the forest slowly getting destroyed from leafpaws prospective the whole arc. and also her and squirrelpaw have sister telepathy in this arc that we never fucking see again.

and. thats the arc. we call them the traveling books 😭 arc three is more fun i promise they get kinda freaky from here on out

started off so so so good (so so so so so so good) but then it turned to suckkkkk . brocks writing just hasnt been great since s3 w a few good eps here and there but just turned to major suck when you see him w the ventures . guild operative and osi operative romance got too much screentime . still dislike 21 and i think him being the monarch's "best friend" just makes them boring . could have done smth irt him being alone w his wife gone and w a henchman he doesnt care for (<- the sudden jump of him loving 21 in s5 was so annoying) or smth . i feel the blue morpho could still work w that that would be fun a dedicated henchman working w a boss who will do whatever to rise to the top even if the boss doesnt like him . speaking of . total drop in the whole BM thing and kind of made it stupid to have him kill villains to rise the ranks but then they just have him do random ass jobs and hes level 10? kind of makes his whole speech in PfT in 6 abt GCI levels kind of stupid . the loss of focus on the ventures in general just does not appeal to me i like the monarchs and conjectech but im not watching the show for them . also did i mention how much brock sucks . should have been more focus in hank and dean esp of theyre gonna have deans speech in the finale (rly good actually did make me sniffle)

irt def more things to explore ik you are a gayboy . would have been interesting to see him come to terms w being a superscience experiment by bonding w jared bc i feel like jared would have some talk abt it not being so bad and bring up the positives (did like sirena's comment on the clone thing though) . rly funny he mentions jared in his speech but you never see them interact s7. his whole character has been a mess since s4 though (actually all the ventures have been but whatever) . this was a characterization that pissed me off though similar to his daddy in s4 for me . i like him missing hank and wanting to go back to being just them and him missing the compound . could have been really good if they actually focused on the family aspect of the show...!!! really wish they fucking did but they ruined my family...!!! that fucking osi dog...!!!

hank didnt really add anything im sorry that happened to you babyboy. hank gets focus but nothing really happens to him. not much to say but he was cute and sigh again a lot of missed opportunities for the Whole Reason I Watch The Show

rusty was more similar to his s4 character but not quite but still annoyed me except brock annoyed me more (major sucks btw) so rusty is safe from my wrath . idk where im going w this now . i wish it was more about the ventures . so many lost opportunities since s4 . everthing brock touched turned to suck i cant even appreciate him shirtless and bloody and killing people why are you such an osi doormst this season . brock sucks so much . rusty really adding nothing but was oh so perfect the 1st 3 eps . i want the family fuck off everyone else the monarchs should have stayed background/main antags or smth i dont need the focus same w billy and white my god i just want the ventures . so many things that could have been explored but werent so instead i have to see kimberly and the guild dude try to have a romance across several episodes w development and tragedy and everything but my ventures get nothing irt to any of them except ig deans speech that comes out of left field bc i havent seen the family interact in what feels like forever . also brock sucks

parallels between dgs music pieces

good morning guys i am procrastinating on my chemistry again so im finally writing this but liek basically pursuit and kazumas theme are both based off of the c minor scale i think. here is me writing out the notes (i hate melodic dictation) [dgs1&2 spoilers ahead]

anyways i gave up putting down the values of the notes because this was jut to get a general idea of what was going on and i think pursuit might actually be in 3/4 or 6/8 but samurai w/ a mission is def a steady 4. also i think both pieces are technically modal (probably dorian cuz they sound vaguely minor but not quite evil) but the parts in question are built off of the Cm pentatonic rather than the whole diatonic. Does that mean anhything?? idk. maybe its like all five people in the game like ryu, sholmes, susie, iris, and asougi for the main characters. I dont think it means nothing cuz at one point a teacher said that nothing is unintentional in music and idk even just looking at the motion theyre both like going in contrary motion (pretend these r 2 voices in one piece) and sound vastly different despite using the same scale. Like pursuit goes (srry no qualities) 8 2 3 2 2 3 4 2 3 3 while asougi's goes like 3 U 2 U 2 U 3 U etc. actually i just realized disregarding the 8 they both heavily utilize 3 & 2 (grrr... eighteenth century voice leading guidelines... using mostly stepwise motion and a few skips and leaps...) which actually i think moreso represent the time period rather than anything about the characters themselves.

also speaking of voicing i think almost all of the same insturments are used for both pieces (basic string 4 and koto?) which just draws more parallels ig but also again reflects the setting and backgrounds of the characters too... which avctually i remembred the evil version of asougis theme also utilizies this same rising motion iirc just a different rhythm which should probably bring me to another point... pursuit is used a lot in dgs 2 and u could tbh say revived prosecutor is just asougis objection which tbh i think thats where i should have headed from the get go but im literally just writing down what im thinking. The fact that theyre now on opposite sides of the courtroom reflects the different motions each piece uses to create the contrast between them, while the repeated 3 and 2 intervals serve to create parallels between them as thats pretty much what the final case does lmao

anyways overall i think that i have a solid basis but maybe i am wrong bc i saw another arrangement of samurai with a mission in Dmaj (Bm) w/ tonal center at D so i would bet it changes modes at one point rather than staying maj? Bc the piece doesnt sound major enough yet it cant be minor because it doesnt sound minor enough. Revived prosecutor on the other hand i think thats just straights Cm...please pray for me so i dont fail music theory...sorry for spelling errors...gootbye guys...
