Hiii :) I saw your requests tips and saw that you didn't write for dub/non con and I don't know if this count as one so just feel free to not respond!
So reader is in a relationship with the Marauders and is starting to randomly think about a past SA and realise this was SA only now bc her brain has been blocking the memory and information. She tells the boys (and maybe Barty idk) about it after sometime of overthinking it and self blaming so it's just like super fluff at the end <3
(it's my personal experience but if you don't feel comfortable writing about it just feel free to ignore it :). Sorry for the bad orthograph english isn't my first language 🫶🏻)
first of all - your English is fucking fantastic (and you know more words than I do - I had to look up what an orthograph was) secondly, I turned this into more of a conversation between reader and her ship. and for plot purposes this became poly!wolfstar - hope that's okay!
poly!wolfstar x fem!reader who opens up about past SA
CW: discusses themes of sexual consent, inebriation, and SA. Describes past SA and abusive relationships. Describes drunkeness, alcohol, and drinking. viewer discretion is advised.
You could tell it was taking Sirius a lot of effort to appear to be too fussed over Lily, James, and Regulus at the end of the party, but he pretended to gag every time anything even remotely romantic or sexual was brought up about his brother.
“What do you think happens when they go home, Pads?” Remus muttered quietly, causing Sirius to slap his hands against his ears.
“Would you shut up, Moons? I am not interested in hearing about my brother’s sexual habits, thank you.”
Unfortunately for Sirius, Lily didn’t get the memo.
“Are we le-leaving!?” She shrieked through a hiccup as James held most of her weight up against his side and Regulus gathered her purse and shoes she’d since lost.
“Yes sweets; we’re gonna get you to bed.” James said quietly.
A salacious smirk took over Lily’s face as she tried (and failed) to grab James by the chin. “To bed, hm?”
Regulus snorted, though no one missed the blush that dusted his cheeks. “To sleep, Lils.”
Lily groaned dramatically and seemed to go ‘no bones’ in James' grip as he grunted and tried to keep her from hitting the ground. “Why not.”
“Because you smell like you bathed in a bottle of schnapps, sweetheart.” James placated.
“So?” Lily grumbled though acquiesced to helping James keep her up right. “We can even do that thing you like.” She tried to sing sensually, but her efforts were in vain as every other word came out slurred.
Sirius grumbled causing James to blush.
“Not tonight, angel. We’ll cuddle, okay?”
Lily scoffed and turned her sights onto Regulus. “You agree with me, right? Right Reggie? You agree- you agree with me?”
“Almost always.” Regulus agreed quickly, offering Lily his arm as to share her weight with James. “Just not tonight, my love.”
“You guys are no fun.” Lily whined as she allowed her two boyfriends to usher her out of Remus and Sirius’ shared flat.
Unfortunately for Sirius, no one missed Regulus leaning into Lily’s hair and promising that “they’d have lots of fun tomorrow to make up for it.”
“I hate them all.” Sirius grumbled with no real malice as he stood and made his way over to you before offering you both of his hands. “What do you say, dollface? Ready for bed too?”
Remus answered ‘yes’ as you accepted Sirius’ help up which sparked a debate between the two of them whether or not Remus could be considered ‘dollface’ to which you secretly agreed that yes he could but ultimately refused to participate in such nonsense.
You got ready for bed in a haze as you replayed Regulus, James, and Lily’s conversation in your head. You weren’t sure what exactly you were so stuck on, but something about the exchange caused something deep within your gut to churn unpleasantly.
“You feeling alright, dovey?” Remus asked gently, pressing a kiss to your hairline as you reentered their bedroom after washing your face, carrying your toiletries with you so as not to hog the bathroom.
Sirius (and Remus) had been begging you to spend your nights here with them nearly since the very beginning of your relationship, but you argued that you did not want to pay rent for a flat you never saw.
He then started nagging you to give up the lease on your flat and just “sodding move in with them already”, but it still felt a little too fresh for that.
So, you spent most nights (but not all) at their flat; living out of duffle bags and toiletry bags.
You hummed in confirmation to Remus’ question, moving towards the mirror above Sirius’ dresser to finish your skincare routine as Remus took his turn with the washroom.
“You sure, sweetness? You’ve been awfully quiet tonight; did you have fun?” Sirius continued as he went digging through what you knew to be Remus’ drawers searching for Sirius’ favourite shirt which was really Remus’ shirt but no one bothered to argue with the black-haired boy…anymore.
“I had fun.” You agreed, massaging product into your face.
“Uh huh.” Sirius commented, not sounding at all convinced as he came up behind you and hooked his chin over your shoulder; watching as you completed your nightly routine through the mirror. “You had so much fun and that’s why you look like Moony when he can’t figure out one of those crosswords in the Daily Prophet?”
You chuckled softly, but something in your lack of enthusiasm (or your lack of disdain) for his joke seemed to tip him off.
“What’s going on in here, hm?” He asked as he pressed a kiss to your temple.
“I just…” You started, sighing as you made yourself busy by tidying up your belongings and refusing to make eye contact with him. “I’ve just been thinking about Reg, James, and Lily’s conversation.”
That caused a dramatic groan to rip through Sirius’ chest as he leaned his forehead against your shoulder.
“What now?” Remus asked jokingly as he returned from the washroom.
“She’s thinking about Regulus, James, and Lily in bed.” Sirius accused; voice muffled in the fabric of your sleepwear.
You scoffed defensively, claiming you were “absolutely not” at the same time Remus commented “aren’t we all” which started a very loud bickering match between your two boyfriends.
The arguing only ceased when Remus “swore on his mother’s life” that Sirius was “by far the superior Black brother.”
Placated, Sirius turned his sights back to you as you sat on the edge of the bed. “So, what were you really thinking about their conversation?”
Remus, having walked in with only enough time to rile Sirius up, popped his head up at that. “Everything alright, dove?”
You sighed as you turned to face them. “I was just confused, I guess.” You admitted. “I think…Lily was hoping to have sex tonight?”
Sirius groaned again which earned him a swat from Remus who seemed to pick up on some of the tension radiating through your body.
“Yes…I’d agree.” Remus responded carefully.
“And Reg and James said no?”
Sirius’ head tilted at that as he considered you with furrowed brows. “Well, of course, doll. She was drunk.” He said simply, as if that explained it all.
“So…they wouldn’t have sex with her because she was drunk?” You clarified.
The boys shared a glance with one another before they each took a seat on the bed, prompting you to turn your body so you were all facing each other.
“So, all parties have to be able to consent, right?” Remus started.
You nodded quickly at that.
“But when one party is inebriated or under the influence, they can’t consent.” Sirius continued.
You felt your eyebrows twitch as you looked down at the pattern on your bed spread. “Even though she was asking?”
“She wasn’t in her right mind, dove.” Remus explained gently; eyes full of compassion and, perhaps, some sadness. “She may have woken up tomorrow and not remembered anything, or perhaps worse, regretted something. It’s Regulus and James’ jobs to keep her safe, just like I’m sure she keeps them safe when the roles are reversed.”
And now you could understand why their conversation seemed to catch you so off guard.
“You’re so pretty like this; drunk and all mine.”
“Have a few more; we always have more fun when you let loose.”
“But…I’m really tired.” “All you’ve got to do is lay there - I’ll do all the work.”
“You don’t remember last night? That’s too bad; I won’t be forgetting that any time soon.”
“You’re such a good little whore for me when you’ve had a few too many.”
You hadn’t realised you had zoned out of the conversation until Sirius was leaning into your field of vision. “You okay, sweets?”
“Yeah.” You said breathlessly before clearing your throat. “No, sorry. I’m fine.”
“Why were you asking?” Remus queried; tone hardening slightly, alerting you to the fact that he smelled trouble.
“I was just wondering.” You fibbed.
“You know we would do the same, right?” Sirius asked earnestly. “That we have done the same for you.”
“You have?”
“Yes, my love.” Remus whispered. “Always.”
You nodded and looked back down at the bedspread. “Okay.”
“Y/N.” Sirius called with a certain level of severity; though you detected no anger or frustration in his tone. Why were you asking?” He repeated Remus’ earlier question after your gaze met his imploring silver eyes.
You quickly looked down at your hands as you began picking at the hangnails around your fingers. “I was just confused; that has not always been my experience.” You admitted quietly; shame coursing through your body as you digested this new information.
The room was quiet for a moment as Remus shuffled scrupulously closer to you. “No?” He whispered; voice intoned with a level of gentleness you weren’t accustomed to hearing.
You began to feel all sorts of discomfort at the heavy attention being focused on you in the room. “It was usually quite the opposite.” You joked; voice rising to a higher octave in an attempt to make light of the situation as you pulled back the covers and made to retreat to the relative safety of the boys’ bed.
“Whoa, whoa. What does that mean?” Sirius implored, earning him a gentle warning “Pads” from Remus.
“I’m sorry.” You placated, still uncomfortable with this heavy atmosphere you seem to have blanketed over what had been a really nice evening. “I shouldn’t have said anything.”
“No, I-” Sirius began, cutting himself off and taking a breath you could tell was an attempt to calm himself down. He shuffled closer to you and wrapped his hand around one of your ankles through the blanket as he rubbed soothing circles against it. “You can always talk about anything with us; it’s important that we talk about these things, yeah?”
“Only if you’re comfortable, of course.” Remus mollified. “But I do agree with Sirius; if you’re comfortable, I think it’s good for us to talk about these things.”
“It was just my last relationship.” You admitted finally. “He didn’t…agree - with the consent thing, that is.”
Remus’ lips pursed as Sirius’ jaw tightened.
“He’d sleep with you when you were drunk?” Remus asked cautiously.
“Yeah.” You agreed half-heartedly, picking at your nail beds. “Or encourage me to drink more so…”
Remus let out a sigh and you could tell Sirius was fighting back the urge to grumble.
“I’m sorry,” You offered again. “I really didn’t mean to bring all this up, I just-”
“I really, really don’t want you to apologise anymore.” Sirius nearly begged.
“I don’t understand how someone could do that.” Remus mused aloud. “To anyone; and someone they claimed to love?”
You mistook Remus’ rhetorical question for an actual need for clarification. “He said I was more fun; that I’d try things I wouldn’t normally.”
Sirius did finally let out an angry huff and his fingers stilled on your ankle. “Who?”
“You don’t know him.” You countered quickly, bringing your knees up to your chest and wrapping your arms around them as you rested your chin on your knees.
“Lucky him.” Sirius muttered darkly as Remus shifted closer to you.
“I’m sorry dove.” He offered quietly; holding out his hand to you in a silent invitation. You accepted it, and as you gave him your hand, he gently encouraged you over to him until you were cradled in his arms.
“I didn’t tell you to be sorry.” You murmured quietly as Remus began pressing kisses to the raw and reddened skin around your fingers you hadn’t realised you had nearly shredded in your tension.
“I know you didn’t.” He whispered. “I’m still sorry, anyhow.”
“I think it’s nice… that the boys were looking after Lily.”
Remus hummed in agreement though he still looked particularly disturbed.
“That’s their job.” Sirius supplied, causing you and Remus to turn your heads towards your boyfriend whose eyes were red and shining with unshed tears.
“Sirius.” You murmured miserably.
“Just like it’s our job to look after you.” He continued as if you hadn’t said anything at all.
“And you do.” You agreed.
Sirius huffed and wiped at his face. “I hate to think of you being hurt or…or taken advantage of when I wasn’t there to help you.”
Remus made a pitiful sound at that.
“You didn’t even know me then, Siri.” You offered, half teasing and half placating.
“She’s alright, Sirius.” Remus comforted. “She’s got us. You’ll be okay now, yeah?”
And you thought of your boys now; you thought of Sirius near tears thinking of someone taking advantage of you during a time you hadn’t even known him, you thought of Remus currently cradling you like you were a precious thing he feared losing if he didn’t hold you with the utmost care, and you thought of their friends - the kind of people who they surrounded themselves with and had the same morals as they did.
Yeah…you think you might just be okay now.

omg ok ok ok, I love your Sirius, so, I'm wondering if you could write a sirius x fem!reader who is maybe the grumpy to his sunshine? he's the one who is always super flirty and outgoing and the life of the party, and she would sort of rather die but begrudgingly puts up with it for him? OH but maybe one day she has a bad day and he gets to see a softer side of her 🥹 IDK idk I'm too excited to request this is so bad sorry my love xoxoxoxo kisses for youuuu
I am *living* for this okay. l i v i n g. because Sirius is my sunshine to my grumpy. I am the grumpy reader. okay let’s do this baby. kiss kiss kiss yoooou <3
Opposites attract right? At least that’s what others seemed to deem as the explanation for your relationship. Sirius was in a category all his own as far as you were concerned, but that category was nearly the opposite of where people would place you. Sirius was a people person, it came so easily to him it was like he never even had to try. It annoyed you to no fucking end when you first met him.
Being a descendent of the most noble and ancient House of Black had its advantages. Like incredibly sharp cheekbones, beautiful alabaster skin that contrasted perfectly with onyx locks and eyes so deep and blue you could drown in them. Sirius exuded this energy that seemed to pull people towards him; like he had his own force field. He could walk into a room and everything shifted, like he breathed extra life into the area and everyone was desperate to live.
Most people when asked about you would say you were…short-tempered. Your housemates tended to steer clear of your presence. Which was fine with you because you were easily annoyed by most of them. Ravenclaws were known for being know-it-alls and truthfully you found it rather repugnant. Thankfully you had Pandora as company. Usually her overly sweet demeanor would drive you insane, but you knew more than the rest. Being a Rosier sorted into Ravenclaw essentially meant she was the black sheep of her family. But that seemed to be your soft spot.
Pandora would tease that this was why you started falling for Sirius. Despite your more grumpy demeanor, you were never quite as grumpy when it came to Sirius. Hearing the ins and outs of what was going on over breaks from Pan made you want to take care of him.
The first time Sirius brought you around the rest of the marauders it was not without sideways glances. “Er, Pads, you seemed to have picked up a shadow,” James nodded towards your frame just behind Sirius. “Sod off, Potter,” you’d grumbled, Sirius’s palm big and flat against your back moving in slow circles. “S’alright love, he’s just teasing. Be nice, Prongs or she’ll hex you into next week and I won’t be able to stop her.”
“Not that you’d try to stop her, would ya mate. I’m Remus, but all these miserable gits call me Moony,” Remus gave a small fingered wave as he plopped onto the couch ceremoniously. He would eventually turn into the one that’d help you gang up on Sirius, if ever needed.
On this particular night, though, you were feeling just…down. It wasn’t often you felt like this, despite outward appearances. However when this feeling did hit you, there was only one person that could fully get you out of it. You knew that the Gryffindors were having their annual Halloween party. Which meant if you wanted to find Sirius that’s where he’d be.
You had of course agreed to come to the party ages ago; much to do with Sirius begging and pouting his pretty pink lips and sucking you in with his pretty blue eyes. Sirius had insisted that costumes were required, “Even for an angel like yourself” which earned him a particularly large eye roll. Thus, you threw on some fishnet tights and a black minidress with your signature black boots. Atop your head a small pair of black cat ears, thanks to Pandoras charm work.
She was dressed as an actual angel, charmed halo floating above her nearly white blonde locks. Any muggle would think they were truly hallucinating if they would have seen her. You greeted the fat lady with the password, “Hiddlypunks,” and she swung open. Within the first few steps one would be none the wiser. But two steps into the commonroom and the barrier was broken, music and singing and murmuring filling the room.
“Drinks yes? Please yes,” you nodded at Pandora who found her way to to the drink table to create what you were hoping were very strong concoctions. You didn’t need to look around in order to find him. That magnetic pull leading you closer and closer until you heard the boisterous laugh of Sirius Black. You were quiet in your approach, not drawing any attention to yourself on purpose. Even though you yearned for his touch you knew how much he enjoyed entertaining and didn’t want to interrupt.
Remus spots you of course, the observant bastard. He throws a playful wink in your direction; you responding with a middle finger and a forced smile. Sirius is in the middle of recalling “a truly amazing play, great play” from the last quidditch match, but Remus’s low chuckle from your display of affection towards him causes your boyfriend to turn around in search of who could have possibly pulled attention away from him.
His furrowed brows disperse as you catch his sights and smile lights his face, “Well, hello there, Kitten.” You give a weak smile in response, “Hi Siri.” His brows are furrowed once more. The others try to greet you but immediately you’re swept away to a farther corner of the room. Sirius swirls his wand around you both, muttering a quick muffliato, coating you both in silence. “Okay, out with it what’s wrong?” Sirius’s hands were laid gently on your waist, head dipped down to force your avoidant eyes to keep contact with his. “Come now, pet. You know I can’t do anything without knowing what’s wrong,” he urged, giving your waist a small squeeze.
You met his eyes and yours immediately began to brim with tears. In an instant Sirius has engulfed you, one hand grasping your head and holding you close to his chest while the other wraps around your back, squeezing you as close to him as possible and hoping the pressure of his pull is soothing. His heart breaks ever so slightly at the muffled sobs against him. Your emotions seem to be everywhere but embarrassment is toping the list as you begin to pull away, aggressively wiping your face with the heel of your palms, hoping no one but Sirius is noticing you in this state.
"I-I'm sorry Siri, 've just..." you trailed off, choked breaths causing your intake of air to stutter. Sirius's touch has yet to cease, one hand cupping your cheek gently while the other finds solace in the dip of your waist, "Rough day, love?" You nod once, looking to the ceiling and willing any tears to fall back into your head instead of trailing down your face. "Alright, let's go," his head tilts towards the spiral staircase that would lead to his dorm.
You sniffle quickly, shaking your head, "N-no, I'll be okay. I'm not going to take you away from the party, Siri. Not gonna steal you from your friends like that." Sirius can't help but scoff, "Fuck my friends." You laugh a little at his brashness and the sound makes Sirius grin again, "There you are, love." He takes a quick peek over his shoulder, "Now. Let's just go tell the others we're going up, Remus will make sure we're left alone for a good few hours then, hmm?"
You nod, agreeing, knowing that there's no use in arguing with Sirius when he's made up his mind. His fingers laced with yours and the cool feeling of his rings are such a contrast the the heat in your body that it's calming. He gives your hand an extra squeeze as you approach the group. You decide to try and stay hidden behind Sirius, almost burying your face against his shoulder blade, barely peeking one eye out to see the others.
Sirius explains that he's feeling tired and wants to go back to the room with you. James does not look convinced in the slightest. He looks even more confused by your seemingly shy and reserved demeanor. He doesn't think he's ever seen you look so...vulnerable. Remus is the only person you make eye contact with and he gives you a simple wink and a nod. The reassurance from the smallest action making you sigh in relief.
It's almost like Sirius can feel you relax slightly, turning to you and asking if you're ready to go. You give a feeble nod and a shy wave to the others, most of which look a little skeptical but say no protests in return.
When you make it to his dorm Sirius immediately goes to his trunk, pulling out his favorite concert tee and handing it to you. You take off your outfit slowly, pulling his shirt over your head and letting it consume you, the additional scent of Sirius now enveloping your body and adding to your relief. Sirius changes himself and then pulls back the duvet, "In you go, pet."
You oblige, going and getting comfortable on your back. Sirius climbs in after you, crawling over your form and placing two soft kisses on either apple of your cheek before giving you the most gentle yet firm kiss. He rests his head against yours, asking you almost in a whisper, "D'you wanna talk about it?"
"No," your response so soft it would've been missed had it not been only you two in the room, "Will you just...lay on me?" Sirius kissed you softly once more, scooching down just enough to lay his head on your chest. He wrapped his arms around your, relaxing himself and allowing his full weight to now lay on top of you. The weight of your boyfriend was the grounding you needed, your breathing now finally able to even out.

Dear Prudence
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day The sun is up, the sky is blue It's beautiful and so are you
Tumblr media
The first thing Remus noticed, were the letters.
“Hey, sunshine” Remus smiled when he spotted you as he entered the Great Hall.
“Hi moonshine” you smiled back at him.
“You know that’s not what you think it is, right?”
“Yes, it is. I am the sun and you are the moon” you insisted as he rolled his eyes a little.
“Whatever you say, love” he chuckled as the two of you reached the other three Marauders sitting at the Gryffindor table.
“Hey Jamie, I think our envelopes got mixed up” you said, walking over to your brother.
“Hey, bug” he smiled at you. “How do you know?” he asked, grabbing the envelope in front of him. “This one says my name” he said, confused as Remus sat down next to your brother.
“Yeah, this one also says James. F. Potter” you said, showing it to him. “But it feels a lot more pages than mine and it has those golden star stickers mum always puts on yours, Goldie” you smirked, mocking him and switching the letters.
“Oh, Goldie! I love that, I am calling you that from now on!” Sirius laughed.
“Shut up, Padfoot!” James said, hitting his arm as you opened the letter James had and saw your name inside.
“Yep, this one’s mine” you told him, taking out the single page.
“Would you like to sit down with us?” Remus offered, smiling brightly at you. So, of course, you couldn’t refuse.
“Why thank you, Remus, that is very kind of you” you said sitting between him and James, hitting your brother’s arm in the process.
“Hey! What did I do?” he asked, with his mouth half-full.
“That’s where you got that from?” Sirius asked, glaring at you a little as James opened his envelope and Remus caught at least four pages coming out of it. He didn’t want to obviously point that out, so he asked something different instead.
“How come both envelopes were addressed to James?” he asked, making you look up at him and you answered before James could.
“Mum writes to him so much, she made the envelopes, especially for him” you smirked, pinching his cheek and your brother quickly snapped your hand away.
“That’s not true!” he argued, with a hint of blush on his cheeks.
“Isn’t it? She writes to you at least twice a week” you mocked him. “I bet nobody else in the entire school comes close to how many letters you get” you told him.
“She writes to you too!”
“Yeah, every other week” you said, rolling your eyes and going back to your letter. “And even then she always asks about you” you said, showing it to him.
“That’s not true!”
“Wanna bet?”
“Fine! Five Galleons” James smirked proudly. You quickly went back to your letter, quickly spotting James’ name.
“Ah-ha! Here we are” you smirked back at him. “‘Make sure to take care of Jamie and give him a big kiss and hug for me’” you said, pointing the sentence at the bottom of your letter as James blushed furiously. “Aw, c’mere, Jamie, gimmie a kiss” you said, throwing your arms around his shoulders and peppering his cheek with kisses while the other three Marauders laughed.
“Ugh, get off me, you annoying bug!” he said pushing you away and making you crash into Remus, who quickly wrapped his arms around your waist so you wouldn’t fall.
“S-sorry, Rem” you said, feeling your cheeks burn as he helped you up.
“No problem, love” he smiled. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah” you chuckled.
“Well, you two are simply the sweetest thing in the world” you heard Sirius from across the table.
“Shut up, Sirius!”
“Shut up, Padfoot!”
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The second thing Remus noticed, were the family dinners.
During Christmas break, it was not surprising at all that the entire group of Marauders were residing at the Potters’ house. This year, Mrs. Potter had even got each of them a stocking, which he later found out had been your request, and Remus felt happier than he had in years. Since his mum passed away, he and his father never really liked celebrating Christmas anymore, so the feeling of this home made him warm inside and he loved it. And he especially loved spending more time with you, even if you were locked in your room most of the time.
“James, darling, where is your sister? Dinner is almost ready” he looked up from his book when Mrs. Potter came into the living room.
“Probably locked in her room” James shrugged.
“Well, could you go get her, please love?”
“Just a second, mum, I’m about to beat Padfoot” James smirked as they played Chess.
“I can go” Remus offered, marking the page on his book and getting up.
“Thank you so much, Remus. It is lovely to have actual help around here” she said, before messing James’ hair as he complained to his mother.
Remus chuckled and went upstairs to your room. He had realized this was probably the only room in your entire house he had never seen, aside from your parents’ room. He suddenly found himself feeling extremely curious to see how your room was. And why you insisted on spending so much time on it. He gently knocked on your door but he didn’t receive any response. It didn’t come as a surprise since he could hear the music blasting from the other side. He smiled when he recognized the song. It had become kind of your thing. He knew you loved muggle music and he loved introducing you to it.
Wouldn't it be nice if we were older? Then we wouldn't have to wait so long And wouldn't it be nice to live together? In the kind of world where we belong?
His smile grew wider when he heard your voice on top of the original song and he tried to knock harder but still, no response. So, he carefully opened the door. Whatever Remus had in mind about your room (which he may or may not think about more than he would like to admit) he never pictured this. Your room was as big as James’ if not a bit bigger, but you had a lot more windows and a lot more colors, by far. James’ room was decorated with Gryffindor colors and Quidditch teams he loved. But yours? Yours had paintings everywhere. Every wall. Top to bottom. Even some parts of your ceiling. How did you ever get to paint that high? He may never know. You were currently painting the side of your window with colorful flowers. Peonies. Your favorite.
You know it's gonna make it that much better When we can say goodnight and stay together
Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up In the morning when the day is new? And after having spent the day together Hold each other close the whole night through
“Um, sunshine?”
“Remus° you turned to him, smiling brightly. Remus had never seen you so beautiful. You had possibly every single color in your pallet all over your face, your clothes, and your hands. “Sorry, I didn’t hear you” you said, walking over to your record player and making the song stop.
“Yeah, I figured as much” he chuckled. “What are you doing?”
“Oh, I get really bored of my walls every now and then, and I start all over again” you explained. “I was in a very flowery mood” you said, pointing at your latest painting.
“That’s beautiful” he told you. “Did you paint all of the rooms in your house?”
“Yes, except Jamie’s” you explained. “He said I’m just going to ruin his Quidditch posters” you said, rolling your eyes. “But I did the guest rooms” you said, smiling. “Yours was inspired by ‘The Little Prince’” you informed him.
“I could tell” he smiled. “My favorite book when I was a kid” he added.
“I remember you telling me that” you smiled back.
“Do you know that program on our last year for magical paintings? You should really apply for next year” he suggested.
“You really think so?” you smiled and he nodded. “I have… actually been thinking about it” you informed him.
“You should” he smiled.
“I might” you smirked.
“Um, your mum says dinner’s almost ready” he informed you.
“Oh, really? I must have lost track of time” you said, walking into your room to wash your hands.
“I’m glad you liked your Christmas present” he said, shyly, looking at the Beach Boys’ record that was playing not long ago.
“I love it” you said, coming back out. “Did you like yours?”
“I’m halfway done” he said, remembering the book he was just reading downstairs.
“Already?”
“I can’t put it down” he smiled as you got closer to him.
“I’m glad you liked it” you smiled, making him chuckle when he saw you still had paint on your face.
“Um, you still have some-” he said, pointing at his left cheek. “Here” he said, grabbing the towel from your hand and carefully cleaning it up.
“Thanks, moonshine” you smiled.
“Hey, Mrs. Potter said-” Sirius came bursting into your room, smirking at the scene in front of him. “Am I interrupting something?” he asked, as the two of you jumped apart. You saw Remus’ cheeks blushing and you felt yours burning a little.
“N-no-”
“We were just- um- on our way” Remus quickly said, before he left the room. You nodded, grabbing one of your books, and were about to follow him, but Sirius blocked your way.
“You know, you should just tell him already, Bambi” he said. “We both know he’s too shy to make the first move, plus he thinks your brother is gonna kill him” he said.
“Mhm, or maybe, he just doesn’t feel the same way about me” you insisted. “And you promised you wouldn’t say anything!” you glared at him.
“I haven’t!” he said, offended. “And you have to be joking, right, have you really not seen the way he looks at you with his goofy smile, sunshine” he said, mocking Remus’ voice and making you punch him in his arm. “Ouch! Would you stop that?”
“It’s not my fault. You moved here and decided to become my other annoying brother, so you have to pay the consequences” you smirked before you left your room and Sirius rolled his eyes, following you.
“Why did you bring your book?” Remus asked, confused when you sat down next to him and placed your book on the table.
“Well, it kinda gets boring when the conversation turns to Quidditch” you informed him.
He frowned a little confused, but quickly understood what you meant. Throughout the entire dinner, your parents had revolved the entire conversation about James. They first asked how school was, to which all of you replied, he and the rest of the Marauders included. Followed by if you were dating someone. And then, Quidditch. Remus realized you hadn’t even spoken for about forty-five minutes. Your parents even asked Sirius, Peter, and him some questions, but not you. He turned to look at you and saw you immersed in your book. He slowly smiled and then felt a kick in his leg. He turned to glare at Sirius sitting in front of him who was smirking and nodded his head towards you.
“What’s your book about?” he asked. It took you a moment to register that someone was actually talking to you before you lifted your head and turned to look at Remus.
“Oh, um-” you smiled shyly. “It’s a romance novel, I wouldn’t want to bore you” you chuckled.
“You wouldn’t bore me, sunshine” he insisted. When you smiled brightly at him, it gave him the courage to hold your hand in his underneath the table as you started talking about the plot of the book you were reading. He absolutely loved the way your face brightened when you talked about something you liked and that you had his full attention. He could not deny it any longer, he was definitely in love with you.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The third thing Remus noticed, was the birthday presents.
“Hi Rem” you smiled, opening your dorm. “What are you doing here?”
“Me? What are you doing here? You left your own birthday party” he chuckled.
“Well, you know I don’t like parties” you chuckled. “James makes a whole fuss about our birthdays but it’s mostly for him” you insisted. “I bet nobody even noticed I left” you said.
“I did” he said, making your cheeks burn a little.
“Um… would you like to come in?” you asked, opening the door. “I’m watching an old movie that Alice lent me” you smiled. “I got pastries from the Kitchens” you said, making him smile.
“How could I say no to that?” he asked, following you inside. “I also wanted to give you your present” he said, making you look back at him.
“You got me a present? Remus, you didn’t have to get me anything” you smiled.
“Yes, I did. It’s your birthday” he said, as if it was obvious. “I’m sure you got so many presents already, but one more couldn’t hurt” he said, shyly.
“Not much” you shrugged. “Jamie gave me my badger slippers” you said, showing them to him. “And I gave him lion ones” you giggled. “Sirius gave me chocolate, oh, Alice gave me new paints” you said, pointing at them excitedly. “And Lily gave me a new perfume” you smiled.
“Oh” he frowned, confused. “What about your parents?”
“Oh, my dad sent me this book” you said, showing him a familiar book, he knew you had already talked with him about. “I mentioned to him it was my favorite so he got me one” you explained. “I don’t really have it in my heart to tell him I already have it” you chuckled.
“And your mom?” he asked, extremely confused. He counted at least twenty presents for James from your parents.
“My mum usually gives me some of her jewelry she knows I love, but she doesn’t like to send it through mail so she gives it to me when I come home for the summer” you explained.
“Oh… is… that it?” he asked, without really thinking.
“What do you mean?” you asked, confused.
“Nothing. Sorry, I didn’t mean anything I just- um- I don’t want to cross a line or anything it’s just-”
“Let me guess, Jamie got about thirty presents from my parents” you smiled sadly.
“Yeah” he said, awkwardly. “Look, you know I love your parents. They are some of the kindest people I’ve met, and I know I don’t have any siblings but… I just don’t think it’s fair that they favor James over you” he said, sadly.
“Look, it’s fine. I know my parents love me” you smiled. “Just… probably not as much as James” you chuckled. “I’ve actually learned it’s not the worst thing. I get zero pressure from them. Last year, I was really worried because I didn’t do well on one of my Herbology tests-”
“Because everything you touch dies?” Remus smirked, earning a glare from you.
“As I was saying… I was going to tell them when we came home for the Holidays, but they were so upset that James had lost the last Quidditch match, that they didn’t even say anything to me” you shrugged. “I can literally do anything I want whenever I want and they won’t really mind. I mean, I’m pretty sure I can even date whomever I want but the day James gets a serious girlfriend, my mum may actually die” you told Remus, making him laugh a little. “It used to bother me a lot, but… they do show me that they love me in different ways” you explained. “But I think it’s really sweet you care about that” you smiled at him.
“Well, of course I do. You’re my favorite person in the world” he blurted out.
“I am?” you asked, feeling your heart flutter.
“Of course you are” he smiled.
“I think… you’re the first person in my life that has liked me more than James” you said, feeling a few tears in your eyes. “Sorry, that’s stupid-”
“It’s not” he assured you, pulling you closer and wiping away your tears. “And I really mean it” he smiled. “Happy birthday, sunshine” he said, giving you his present.
“Moonshine” you smiled, opening it. “Remus” you said, feeling your eyes welling up. “Is this-?”
“Yes” he smiled, grabbing The Beatles’ record from you and putting it on your record player. “I know this is your favorite song and it’s also mine because it reminds me of you” he said as the guitar started playing. “Would you like to dance with me?”
“Really?” you asked, excitedly.
“Only because it’s your birthday” he said as you grabbed his hand and walked to the middle of your dorm.
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day The sun is up, the sky is blueIt's beautiful, and so are you Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play?
“Why does this song remind you of me?” you asked curiously.
“Well, I read that the song was written about Prudence Farrow-”
“Who is Mia Farrow’s less famous little sister? Wow, Remus-”
“No, that’s not why” he glared a little at you. “I mean she is but, that’s not why” he insisted.
“So?”
Dear Prudence, open up your eyes Dear Prudence, see the sunny skies The wind is low, the birds will sing That you are part of everything Dear Prudence, won't you open up your eyes?
“Did you apply to the art program” he asked, making you smile at him.
“You remembered that?”
“Of course, I do” he frowned. “I remember everything you tell me” he insisted.
“Well… I did” you told him. “I should be hearing about it during summer” you informed him.
“I’m sure you’ll get in, sunshine” he said, kissing your forehead.
Look around, around (round, round, round) Look around, around, around (round, round) Look around
“Well, it was written because she would rarely come out of her bungalow while she meditated. It’s kind of like you and your paintings” he smiled.
“I’m not that bad” you scoffed offended.
“Love, I had to come up three times a day every day on Christmas break so you wouldn’t forget to eat” he reminded you.
“Oh, and here I was thinking you came to get me because you missed me” you pouted.
“That too” he assured you.
Dear Prudence, let me see you smile Dear Prudence, like a little child The clouds will be a daisy chain So let me see you smile again Dear Prudence, won't you let me see you smile?
“I really love this song” you smiled. “And my birthday gift” you added. “And um-” you said, feeling your cheeks burn as you looked away. “C-can I tell you something?” you asked, nervously.
“You can tell me anything, love” he assured you.
“O-okay, you don’t have to say anything and… if it’s weird you can just leave and not talk to me ever again, and… it’s not just because you said you liked me more than James b-but it’s been something that I have felt for a while and I just-”
“Sunshine” he said, cupping your cheek and making you stop your ramble. “I love you too” he smiled, making your entire body feel like you were on cloud nine.
“Y-you do?” you asked, still not believing him.
“I really do” he said, leaning in to kiss you.
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day The sun is up, the sky is blue It's beautiful, and so are you Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play?
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
“Yeah, go get settled, Moony! We’ll wait for you outside” James said as Remus walked upstairs to put his things away. After tossing everything in there really, he quickly found himself in front of your door again. James had invited him to stay over the summer and it had been two weeks without you. Two weeks too long. He smiled as the music blasted on the other side of the door, only this time, he opened it and walked in.
My, my, I tried to hold you back, But you were stronger Oh, yeah, and now it seems My only chance is giving up the fight
And how could I ever refuse? I feel like I win when I lose
Waterloo, I was defeated, you won the war Waterloo, promise to love you for ever more Waterloo, couldn't escape if I wanted to Waterloo, knowing my fate is to be with you
Wa-Wa-Wa-Wa-Waterloo Finally facing my Waterloo
Remus smiled to himself before he walked over to you, pulling your paintbrush away from your hand and making you turn around frowning, but you quickly smiled when you saw it was him.
“Moonshine!” you smiled, throwing your arms around his shoulders and he quickly wrapped his around your waist, twirling you around and planting a big kiss on your lips.
“Hey, sunshine” he smiled when you pulled away. “I missed you” he said, giving you another peck on the lips.
“I missed you too” you smiled, pulling him closer. “How has your summer been?”
“Pretty boring, to be honest” he chuckled. “I see you kept yourself busy” he said, twirling your paintbrush in his hand. “Prongs and Padfoot said you played Quidditch with them yesterday” he chuckled.
“Yeah, they made me” you rolled your eyes.
“Have you… told your brother about us?”
“No” you pouted. “You said we would tell him together” you reminded him. “You know it’s gonna be fine, right?”
“Yeah, I know. Sirius just keeps insisting he will kill me” he laughed nervously.
“I won’t let that happen” you said, kissing his cheek. “I promise” you smiled sweetly.
“So, what are you painting?”
“Oh! I’ve been waiting to tell you” you said, excitedly. “I got into the art program!”
“You did? Love, that’s amazing! I knew you could do it!” he said, hugging you again and giving you a small kiss. “I’m so proud of you!”
“Thanks, Remmy” you smiled. “You’re the first person I’ve told” you smiled.
“I am? Why didn’t you tell anyone?”
“Oh, well, I actually told my parents when we got here, but James won the Quidditch Cup and there are… about ten Quidditch teams wanting to recruit him so… I don’t think they heard me or even knew what I was talking about” you said, smiling sadly. “Sirius said it sounded cool, though” you told him.
“I’m sorry, love” he said, pulling you closer.
“It’s okay. You’re the one I really wanted to tell” you smiled, leaning in to kiss him again. “And, I have to finish this painting” you said, trying to get the brush from him but he put it out of his reach. “Rem!”
“I just got here, love” he pouted. “Wouldn’t you rather spend the day with your boyfriend who missed you so much?”
“Well, yes, that’s why I wanted to finish it before you got here” you insisted. “But James and Sirius kept insisting that I played Quidditch with them yesterday and I didn’t get to paint” you told him but he still placed the brush out of your reach when you tried to grab it. “Remus!”
“Well, you can continue tomorrow” he said, pulling you to him. “I have been waiting for two whole weeks to kiss my beautiful girlfriend” he said between kisses, feeling your smile against his lips.
“Okay, I can continue tomorrow” you said, as he threw the brush on your table and deepened the kiss. “I missed you so much” you said, pulling him closer.
“I missed you too, love” he smiled.
"Hey bug, have you seen Moony-? BLOODY HELL! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?" James yelled coming inside your room and covering his eyes at the scene in front of him. Remus instantly jumped off you so quickly he fell to the floor as Sirius came in running behind James when they heard the yelling.
"Why are you yell-? oh bloody hell!" he smirked when he saw Remus standing up and saw that both of seemed very nervous.
"I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!" James yelled to Remus and started running after him with his wand pointing at his neck but you stepped in between.
"Jamie, stop!"
"Get out of the way bug!" your brother’s voice was dangerously low.
"Prongs, calm down" Remus said trying not to show how nervous he really was.
"Calm down?!" James snapped. "That's MY sister!"
"Jamie, please, calm down!" you said also a little nervous.
"YOU SHUT UP!"
"Don't yell at her!" Remus snapped.
"Mate, I would shut up if I were you" Sirius told him.
"ALL OF YOU, SHUT UP!" you yelled at all of them.
“I’m going to kill you!” James yelled at Remus before he started chasing him around your room. Remus quickly ran out with James following him.
“I told you, he would find out sooner or later” Sirius smirked.
“You are of no use to me right now, SIrius!” you said, punching his arm as you followed your brother and your boyfriend. Sirius quickly walking behind you.
“James, what is going on? What’s with all the yelling?” you saw your mother and father come inside the living room where James was still chasing Remus and throwing jinxes at him.
“Stop it!” you yelled running over to your brother and grabbing his arm.
“Get off me!” he complained as Remus ran over to Sirius, hiding behind him.
“You’re being ridiculous!” you said, trying to reach for his wand but he placed it out of your reach. However, you clung yourself to him, trying your best to get it.
“What in Merlin’s name are you two kids doing?” your father asked, confused. It was rare to see the two of you fight like this nowadays.
“Let go!” he said, as your hand reached for his wand.
“You let go!” you complained.
“It’s my wand!”
“Gimmie it!”
“Alright, stop it! Both of you!” your mother’s voice was heard through the room as she pointed her wand at the two of you, separating you, and making James’ wand fly into her hand.
“He started it!”
“She started it!”
“I don’t care who started it! I want to know what’s going on and I want to know now!” your mother said, with her hands on her waist.
“Why don’t you ask your daughter how she betrayed me!” James said, glaring at you.
“Oh, please! Grow up, James! You’re being ridiculous!”
“That’s enough!” your father intervened. “Your mother asked you a question. What is wrong with the two of you?”
“She stole my best friend!” James said, pointing at you accusingly.
“What? I did no such thing!”
“And I thought I was your best friend” Sirius added, offended while Remus rolled his eyes.
“James, sweetheart what are you talking about?” your mother asked, confused.
“Well, mum, I just found your daughter, my so-called sister” he said glaring at you as you rolled your eyes and crossed your arms in front of your chest. “Kissing my best friend!”
“James!”
“Excuse me?” your father said, a bit upset, throwing daggers at the two boys behind your mother.
“Fleamont, darling, calm down” she said, to her husband before turning to you. “Sweetheart, would you care to explain yourself?” your mother asked you, calmly.
“First of all, Jamie is making it a bigger deal than it is” you complained.
“No, I’m not!”
“Yes, you are!”
“Were you or were you not just kissing Moony upstairs?”
“What?” your father asked again, but your mother stopped him.
“Well?” James asked, arching his eyebrow at you.
“I… was… kissing… my… boyfriend” you said, feeling your cheeks burning.
“Excuse me?” your father asked, baffled.
“Boyfriend?” James asked.
“Remus is your boyfriend?” your mother asked, excitedly.
“You can’t have a boyfriend! You’re too young!” your dad complained.
“And it can’t be my best friend!” James added.
“Hurtful, Prongs. Really hurtful” Sirius glared at him.
“Oh, hush, all of you” your mother said, rolling her eyes. “Fleamont, you and I were their age when we started dating” she reminded your father. “And James, you should be happy that your sister is with one of your best friends. Remus is a wonderful guy” she smiled at Remus who felt just a little less nervous.
“Thanks, Mrs. Potter” he said, blushing a little.
“I’m so happy for you two. Sweetheart, why didn’t you tell us?” she asked you.
“Well, I didn’t really know how to because I knew James would throw a fit about it” you said, rolling your eyes.
“I did not throw a fit-”
“James, that’s enough” your mother told him. “Leave your sister alone” she scowled.
“But mum-”
“But nothing. She’s happy and so is Remus and we are all happy for them and that’s it” she insisted.
“I don’t even get a say in it?”
“No, why would you get a say in your sister’s love life?”
“At least she has a love life” Sirius laughed.
“Hey!” James complained.
“Good one, son” your dad laughed with Sirius.
“What is happening?” James asked, upset before he started going upstairs. “I do not like this one bit!” you heard before he slammed his door.
“Don’t listen to him, sweet pea” your dad said, smiling kindly at you. “We are happy for you” he admitted, kissing your head. “But Remus is not allowed in your room and you are not allowed in his, or the two of you alone in a room, understood?” he frowned.
“Yes, dad” you smiled.
“Yes, sir” Remus replied at the same time.
“Good” he smirked proudly.
“I’m so happy for you, sweetheart” your mother said, hugging you.
“Thanks, mum” you smiled.
“You too, Remus” she said, kissing his cheek.
“Thank you, Mrs. Potter” he smiled before she left with your dad.
“I’d like to say that went well” Sirius smirked as you sat with Remus on the sofa and he kissed your forehead while Sirius sat on the chair.
“To be honest, that’s the best I could have asked for” Remus chuckled.
“It felt weird to have so much attention on me” you admitted as Remus kissed your cheek.
“Alright” you heard James’ voice coming down the stairs again. “I have decided that I approve this” he said in a serious tone, sitting closer to Sirius.
“You do know we don’t need your approval, right?” you said, glaring a little at him.
“But there will be no kissing in front of me” he glared at the two of you. “That’s just gross!”
“Fair enough, Prongs” Remus chuckled, kissing the side of your head.
“I just want to say that I am still hurt about your comments made earlier” Sirius said, sounding offended.
“You knew about them the entire time, didn’t you?” James glared at him.
“And I forgive you because that’s what best friends do, Prongsie” he smiled innocently.
“Fine, I forgive you too” James said, rolling his eyes as Sirius hugged him, kissing his cheek. “Get off, you goof!”
“This is going to be a long summer, isn’t it?” Remus asked you.
“Yes, I am so happy you’re here” you smiled, giving him a peck on the lips.
“Hey! What did I just say!?”
“Shut up, Jamie!”

Mine
Remus Lupin x reader
Summary: Remus swears he's never been more in love.
Genre: Domestic fluff
Cw: None
Word count: 552
This is the first part of my Speak Now (Marauders' version) collection
Tumblr media
"Flash forwards and we're takin' on the word together, and there's a drawer of my thing at your place"
"You are the best thing, That's ever been mine"
If there was something that had stuck with Remus after his years at Hogwarts, it was waking up as soon as the sun raised. Opposite to his girlfriend who tried to make the most of her time in bed, meaning that she usually slept in through the morning during the weekend.
Therefore it was a common occurrence for Remus to be the one waking up to make breakfast when you were at his place. However, it wasn’t common for him to feel your arms wrapped around his middle while he was making tea.
“Good morning, darling” he said, a smile creeping into his face when he heard you mumbling a good morning back, your head pressed against his back. “Did you sleep well?” he asked while turning around to wrap his arms around you.
“Would’ve been better if you hadn’t left the bed so early, I missed you.” you replied, earning a soft giggle from Remus.
He raised one of his hands to rest on your head, patting it lovingly. That made you hum against his chest, he made you feel safe and loved with a simple gesture like that, if he kept going you were sure you would fall asleep right there.
“Are you wearing my clothes?” Remus asked when he finally took in your appearance.
You nodded, face still pressed against his chest. “What else would I wear, we are at your place.” you stated as if it were a matter of fact.
Remus couldn’t help but chuckle at that. You’ve been together for years now, and even though you insisted on having your own place to “learn to be independent before living with another person”, as you always said when your friends asked why you two didn’t live together. You spent most of your days at his place, a little cottage in the outskirts of Cornwall.
“I’m pretty sure half of the wardrobe is full of your things” he said, a fond smile adorning his face when you finally looked up at him.
“I don’t know what you are talking about, plus, you clothes are comfier”
He just laughed at your response and looked into your eyes. Seeing you with his clothes,
and the sight of your sleepy face being hit by the morning sun coming through the window made his smile widen more, if it was possible. He felt like he was falling in love all over again.
“What are you staring at?” you asked him, poking your finger in his side to get his attention as he appeared to be lost on his thoughts.
“Can’t I stare at my beautiful girlfriend?” he said, voice filled with affection.
“Hmm I think there’s a price you have to pay for that.”
“Oh yeah? Which one would it be?” he inquired,his frame leaning slightly towards you.
You pretended to contemplate for a second before answering “I think a kiss would do the job.”
“I’ll give you as many kisses as you want.” he said before kissing your lips repeatedly.
You giggled at his affection “I love you, Rem.” you said genuinely when he stopped.
“I love you too, honey.” he sighed, thinking about how lucky he was to have you in his life and pledging to himself to protect this, the best thing that had ever been his, forever.
Note: this is the first Drabble for the collection, is pretty short and fluffly, they'll get longer... If you want to be added to the taglist of the event, send me a message or ask! Series' taglist: @feral-posts @izuoyarmin @aremuslupinsimp

Enchanted wings.
james potter x reader (oneshot)
Tumblr media
James didn’t know what hit him.
Well, he did actually. It was the bludger that he did not see coming because he was too busy staring at Y/N.
James felt himself slipping off his broom from the sheer force of the bludger, causing everyone watching to gasp in despair, except the Slytherins which they were playing against, they were probably reveling in the way that he was desperately trying to get back on his broom, slipping inch by inch. He looked at the ground in panic. A fall from this height would earn him some broken bones and maybe a whole season without quidditch.
Y/N was watching from the stands of Griffyndor, she had always been a fan of Quidditch since she used to watch it with her family all the time. But since 5th year her interest has been even more piqued because of a certain chaser.
James Potter, the mischievous but golden boy of Gryffindor, always hanging out with his little group, the Marauders. She had started noticing him in 5th grade, she was trying to get her book back from an annoying slytherin boy, until James Potter walked by.
“Hey, leave her alone.” He said, closing in on the boy's face and taking the book from his grasp. James towered over the smaller boy as he ran away. He turned around
“Here!” He had such a cute smile…
 Y/N felt a blush rise to her cheeks, she grabbed the book and starting to walk back to class when James grabbed her wrist
“Hey, sorry, I didn’t catch your name? I’m James. James Potter.” Y/N paused surprised,
 “Oh, uh. I’m Y/N L/N. And thank you, I didn’t mean to be rude but I’m really late for class.”
 “Oh? What have you got right now?” And oh, that smirk.
“Transfiguration, have you got that as well? I noticed you were walking that way?”
“Yeah, I was headed there, but now that you’re here might as well give me some company, don’t you think?” He chuckled, and Y/N nodded as they began walking to class.
And that was that, they formed a kind friendship where Y/N she wanted something more, but she valued her friendship too much to have the possibility to ruin it.
“JAMES!” Y/N shouted from the stands, time seemed to slow down for her as she watched him fall, though on the last second she was brought back to her senses as she cast a levitating spell at his robes hoping that it would break his fall. It worked for a bit but then she heard a sickening crush as James collided with the ground.
“Oh my god…” She ran to the field and saw a crowd of team members surrounding him, she burst through it and saw him with his eyes closed groaning in pain. Y/N kneeled by him and took his face in her hands “James?”
“...Darling?” One of his eyes fluttered open and those gorgeous brown eyes stared back at her
“Yes, it’s me… We’re going to take you to Madam Pomfrey, ok?” She said looking at someone behind her silently asking someone to call the nurse.
“Yeah, I think I need her… ow.” He says trying to sit up
“Lay back down!” She said gently placing him back
The first thing James saw when he woke up was the distinct ceiling of the hospital wing, he felt like he was trampled by a Hippogriff, his left arm was constricted in a cast and he felt some bandages in his legs, but what was weird was the pressure in his right hand, though as he turned to look, what he saw was Y/N napping on his arm.
That did not look comfortable. At all…
“Hey sweetheart.” He whispered gently “Had a good nap?” He grinned
“James! You’re awake!” She says, still rubbing the sleep from her eyes “What happened out there?! I’ve never seen you so distracted in the field before…” She questioned. His eyes softened
“Y/N,” James began, his voice soft yet filled with sincerity, “I need to tell you something. Something I should've said a long time ago.”
He gently lifted her hand from where it rested on his chest, his eyes never leaving hers. “I was distracted out there because of you, I love you, Y/N. You're more than just a friend to me. You're everything.”
He paused, waiting for her reaction, hoping that she felt the same way. “I know I've been a fool for not saying it sooner. Please, tell me you feel it too.”
Y/N's heart swelled with emotion at James's confession. She felt a rush of joy and relief flood through her veins “James,” she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. “I... I love you too. More than you could ever know.” She reached out to cup his cheek tenderly, her fingers tracing the lines of his face as if she couldn't quite believe he was real. “Can I kiss you?”
“You don’t even have to ask.” He smiled as they shared their first kiss.

Hi sweetheart, thank you so much! (Is your username a Lizzy McAlpine reference? I love that) I'm really sorry you went through this, I've been fortunate enough to have never hit an animal but I've seen it happen and it's so horrible, I'm really sorry you've been dealing with this :(( I think you did the right thing by leaving your number with it, and I hope the weight of that trauma and grief is starting to lift off you my love. Thank you for requesting <3
cw: mention of killing an animal, reader feeling guilty
poly!marauders x fem!reader ♡ 1.8k words
James hears the door and is up instantly, bounding down the hall to greet you and Sirius.
“Hello!” he calls ahead, eager for company after being left alone in your flat for over a half hour. “You guys took your time today, I thought even Remus might beat you home. Was traffic a riot, or…”
Sirius is looking at him with panic in his blue-gray eyes, clearly trying to convey one of those telepathic messages James has never been great at interpreting, and you…you’re looking at nothing. Your gaze is distant as you work off your shoe, the area around your eyes puffy and gray with smudged mascara.
“Hey,” James breathes, then feels stupid. It sounds like he’s accusing you of something. He tries again. “Is everything okay?”
Sirius gives him a look that says What do you think? and crouches beside you to help with a stubborn knot in your shoelace. Your hands are trembling, James notices. Dread settles like a stone in his stomach.
“I’ve got it,” Sirius murmurs to you, fingers gentle as they intercept your own, but the alarm doesn’t leave his expression as he watches your face. Ah. As much as it kills James to see you upset, Sirius will have no idea what to do with you in this state. Tears have always set him on edge.
James squats, joining the two of you on the floor. “Hi, sweetheart.” He does his best to keep his own anxiety out of his voice as his hand finds your ankle, fingers wrapping around the bit of skin between the hem of your jeans and your socks. “Has something happened?”
Your eyes meet his already full of tears, and James braces himself. Sirius does too, by the look of it, his shoulders tensing as he watches your face like you’re about to crumble away to nothing right here on their doormat.
“I—” That’s all you get out before you have to bite down on your lip to keep from crying. A tiny whimper escapes, and spider web cracks spread across James’ heart. A sluggish tear leaks from your right eye.
“It’s okay,” he swears, though he has no way of knowing it. You press the back of your hand to your mouth, trying to quell the sobs that shake your frame even with no air to feed them. “Oh, honey.” James leans forward, wrapping you in an awkward but very heartfelt hug, your knees between his chest and yours but your head crossing the distance to wet his shoulder with your tears.
A sympathetic pressure builds in James’ sinuses, but he does his best to breathe through it. Stability tends to help you more than sympathy in these situations, and since Remus isn’t home yet, it’s left to James to be the reasonable one (Sirius would have all sorts of jokes to make about that, but he doesn’t seem to be feeling up to them either).
He gives you a few moments of reprieve, a few passes of his palm up and down your spine, before trying again. “What’s going on?” he asks, gently as he can. “You guys are scaring me. Sirius?”
Sirius’ brow pinches like he almost doesn’t want to say it either, and the anticipation in James’ chest heavies. “We were driving home,” he says slowly, keeping a wary eye on you lest he worsen your upset, “and a rabbit ran in front of the car.”
Relief nearly chokes James at the same time as a sympathetic sorrow takes ahold of him. He pets the back of your head. You tremble with the force of your crying, leaning into his touch greedily.
“She was driving?” he asks quietly, though he’s nearly sure. If your reaction isn’t enough to go off of, he already knows that you usually pick Sirius up from work and drive the both of you home.
Sirius nods.
“It doesn’t sound like there was anything you could do,” he murmurs to you, cupping the back of your neck to encourage you to look up at him. You do, sniffling as your lip quivers, and James uses his thumb to brush a wet streak of mascara from your blotchy cheek.
“It must have been so scared.” Your voice breaks on the last word and James’ heart along with it, leaving a throbbing wound in the center of his chest.
“I doubt it had time to be scared, honey,” he tries to reassure you, but his own voice is fraught. He looks to Sirius. “Did you…do you know if it…passed?”
Sirius is half hiding behind his hair, a sure tell of his disquiet, and it brushes his shirt collar when he nods again. “We weren’t sure at first, so I got out to move it off the road. It was dead.” He winces at his wording, and you bite down on your lip harshly. His tone softens as he addresses you. “I really don’t think it felt any pain.”
You look nowhere near ready to believe him, and James is preparing to offer to make you a cup of tea and let you sort out your grief at your own pace when the front door opens again, stopping when it hits Sirius’ side.
“Oh.” Remus pokes his head through. “Hello. Why are we all sitting on the floor?”
Sirius scoots the rest of the way out of the door’s path before deciding to stand instead. He speaks to Remus in a low voice while James runs a hand up and down your side in an attempt to soothe you. He locks eyes with Remus over your shoulder, watching as the taller boy’s gaze takes on the weight of understanding.
“Oh, I’m so sorry.” Remus wraps Sirius in a half-hug, kissing his surprised boyfriend on the temple before stooping beside you. “That must have been awful to have to see. Let’s get you up, yeah?” He wraps a spindly hand around your forearm, more encouragement than anything, and James grips your other hand as he stands to pull you up with him.
Neither of them seem quite willing to break contact with you, walking you over to the couch like a newborn fawn despite your murmured I’m okay. Sirius follows close behind. The both of you look like you’re perching rather than sitting, unable to completely relax even now that you’re home.
“It must have been quite a scare,” Remus sympathizes, sitting on the edge of his favored armchair.
“A bit,” Sirius mutters, and your throat bobs.
Remus cocks his head. “What’re you thinking, darling?”
James almost wants to look away at the rawness in your expression as you raise your eyes to meet Remus’. “I just…I can’t believe I killed it. I’ve never” —your voice pitches, and you swallow again— “I’ve never killed anything before.”
 “It was an accident,” James tells you, beseeching.
“You couldn’t have stopped,” Sirius says. His voice has an odd, desperate quality to it, and James sees Remus notice it at the same time as he does, both boys leaning forward to see Sirius better. For the first time, James notices—had he missed it before, or has it only just started?—that Sirius is trembling slightly too. James’ free hand twitches instinctively toward him, but his dark-haired boyfriend is only touchy when he’s in a good mood. He’s not keen on physical comfort; no matter how many years James has worked on him, Sirius has always preferred to keep his struggles internal. “Or avoided it,” he goes on. “It happened too fast.”
Remus nods at you. “As awful as it is, these things happen sometimes. Hopefully,” he adds when another tear slips down your cheek, “never again to you, but selfish as it is, I’m glad you didn’t slam on the brakes or anything else that could have gotten you and Sirius hurt instead.”
You glance at Sirius, and he gives you a weak smile, taking your hand and squeezing gently.
“Nothing you could have done,” he whispers.
Your lips tremble again. James watches as panic flashes in Sirius’ eyes, but he keeps it together. “I’m really sorry,” you tell him, voice wavering. “I shouldn’t have made you take care of the bunny by yourself.”
James' chest aches as Sirius takes a steadying breath. “You were frazzled. Understandably upset,” he corrects himself, squeezing your hand again. This time you squeeze back. “It was a one-man job anyway.”
You make a soft sound, leaning your head on his shoulder, and James has the sense something has settled a bit in each of you. He raises your joined hands to his lips, kissing the back of yours as Remus’ eyebrows furrow.
“Have you had a chance to wash your hands, love?” he asks Sirius, who blinks.
“No. I forgot.”
Despite the heavy atmosphere, James actually feels the beginnings of a smile tempting his lips as he watches Remus forcibly quell his horror. “Right, then. Why don’t we go do that in the kitchen now, and I’ll make us all some tea.”
“Good idea,” James says heartily, swiping his thumb back and forth over his own kiss on your hand. “Hey, could we take out the good cookies as well?”
Remus hums what James chooses to interpret as assent, shepherding Sirius into the kitchen.
“I’m sorry,” you say to James once the other two are out of hearing.
He looks down at you. “What for, sweetheart?”
You shrug, your shoulders remaining just a tad too high after the motion. You’ve stopped crying, and James is grateful, but he doesn’t think this shameful look is a vast improvement. “I feel like I’m being dramatic. And Sirius is the one who had to see it. He had to drive home too, I was too upset.”
James’ battered, broken heart wells for the both of you. He forgoes his attentions to your hand, wrapping his arm around your shoulders instead to tuck you against his side. “You’re not being dramatic,” he promises, “okay? You and Sirius were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and you both had to witness something awful.” Your head sinks onto his shoulder, and he rubs your upper arm. “I think it’s alright to be sad for a while. For yourselves, and for the bunny. Just, don’t torment yourself, alright?” He withdraws enough to see your face, and you tilt your gaze up to his. “Please. You don’t deserve the guilt.”
Your eyes cast down, contemplative and a bit shy, a moment before your head comes back to its spot on his shoulder. “Thanks,” you murmur.
“No thanks necessary, babe. You can cry all night if you need to, I’ll be right here. Just do me a favor,” he lowers his voice, glancing toward the kitchen, “let me sit between you and Sirius if you do. Many more tears and I think he’ll have a heart attack.”

Do you write poly marauders? if so could you write one where they all live in a cute little apartment together, but the boys have gone away for week (or however long) and reader (preferably fem) kind of loses herself. like she starts eating less or at irregular times, kinda lets apartment get messy, wears same clothes everyday and is over all sad. the boys come home and find what's happening and comfort/help her. Mega fluff?!
hope this is enough inspo!
love your writing!!!
thank you :))
I LOVE THIS! I’ve been wanting to write poly!marauders forever and now I have an excuse. A kiss for you, anon.
(I might edit to add more details to the ending later!!)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“It’s just a week. We will be back soon, okay, Angel?” James coos to you, kissing you softly.
The boys are all heading out, bags in hand, saying their goodbyes.
“It’s actually 6 days, Jamie, not a week.” Sirius says, pointedly.
“Excuse me…” James says sarcastically to Sirius, then, turning to you, “6 days, then, Princess. Think you can make it without us that long?”
“Yes, I’ll be fine.” You say, giggling at James’ almost-overly-sensitive tone. He’s always babied you the most.
Remus says, exasperatedly, “I wouldn’t even be going to this Quidditch game if it wasn’t to make sure these idiots don’t fall off the stands, gorgeous girl, you know that, right?”
You giggle even harder at that, “Yes, I know. Now, go and have fun.”
You usher them out the door and into the hallway of your apartment. Luxurious, ceiling-high windows, a kitchen all of you could judge James’ latest experimental dish in, and a living room couch (made of clouds) facing the most expensive TV screen Sirius could afford.
What was originally Sirius’ apartment became Sirius and James’ apartment. Soon after, Remus moved in. Lastly, they asked you to move in once your relationship became more serious.
You walk around the suddenly too-quiet apartment. The cool floor feels more evident on your feet than before and a chill runs down your spine. You climb onto the couch, pull a blanket to your chin, and turn on a show for background noise. You fall asleep almost immediately.
The next morning, you wake up expecting the boys’ arms around you. Sirius snoring loudly, James spread out, pushing Remus off the bed- this was your normal morning routine. Waking up on the couch was never an option before. If you fell asleep on the couch, one of the boys, usually Sirius, would carry you to bed.
With nobody around to do that this morning (and no snoring to be heard from anywhere) you start to feel an empty, lonely feeling. Usually you or James or Remus would make breakfast but you didn’t feel like eating. You make yourself a cup of coffee and relax for the rest of the day. For dinner, you order a pizza and eat the whole thing. It was the only thing you had ate that day and told yourself tomorrow would be better.
That night, you fall asleep fitfully.
The days after are no better, in actuality, they were worse. One night you couldn’t sleep at all and at 3am you give up. You go to the living room, stare out the window at the city below and watch the cars light up the street. Even at 3am, cars are still going. You think too much about who’s in those cars and what they’re doing. Why are they driving at 3am? Some of them could be driving to the hospital right now. Some of them are just now getting off work. Some of them are teenagers who want to get away from their parents to smoke weed at the abandoned house on 7th Street.
You think about how out of all the people in the world, Remus, Sirius, and James chose you.
Suddenly, a thought hits you- there on the couch at damn near 4 in the morning. “They left me, they went on a trip to see someone else… They never chose me after all…”
You believe its true. You believe it so bad you go to sleep, crying, right there on the couch.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hours (or was it days?) later you wake up to keys jingling outside the door. Panic hits you at first. You look around the living room and kitchen. Pizza boxes, McDonald's cheeseburger wrappers, and an old, door-dashed Starbucks drink, definitely growing mold by now, lay around you. And that’s not even counting the bedroom.
They walk in, bags in hand. Smiling at first, then immediately frowning when they see the state of the apartment; the state of you. Shame hits you like a brick. You think about the scene in Home Alone when the robber gets a iron smashed into his face. You think that might feel better.
James is the first to drop everything and coddle you, as usual. He rushes to you, thrusting himself in your arms. You immediately feel better.
“Are you okay? You look so sad, puppy.” He strokes your hair and you smile as the familiar James scent reaches you.
Remus and Sirius are hugging you moments after.
You cry but laugh. You feel silly for ever thinking they were visiting another person.
“What’s going on? You missed us?” Sirius says, pouting.
“Yes, I missed you!” you cry-laugh and throw a pillow from the couch at him.
Remus giggles when you miss.
You explain the situation to them and how you got a little insecure in their departure.
Sirius carries you to bed and Remus holds you while James makes you a proper dinner.
After, Remus runs you a bath, just how you like it. Sirius brushes and braids your hair.
While you were taking a bath, it seemed like the trash disappeared magically. You figured Remus had cleaned it.
Nobody mentions the mess, the boys are all just glad you're feeling better.
You fall asleep with all the boys cradled around you in your big bed. You only start to fall into a deep sleep when you hear Sirius snoring softly.

-🎀
hii my lovely 🎀! always so nice to hear from you and dw ofc, i've been very off and on anyway i'm good! just reveling in the best season of the year 🍂 how are you! loved this request; bookish remus is the best remus; hope you like it 🫶 wc: 1.3k, fluff
bookshop meet cute with remus
The breeze hits you just right as you turn the corner, and the feeling of the cool air on your skin is simply reinvigorating. “Fucking hell, I hate this place. Summer shouldn’t be over already!” you hear a fellow pedestrian lamenting to their walking partner.
You can’t relate. You smile to yourself, reveling in enjoying the change of season.
The warm air of the bookshop contrasts delightfully to the outside air as you walk in, unwrapping yourself from your big scarf. It smells like coffee and long nights filled with fantastic words in here, and you take a deep breath.
You start browsing, intrigued by the new titles, drawn to your usual favourite sections. It’s not long before you’re balancing quite a few books, content to live in the imaginary world where you actually get them all for a little while longer.
You find a similar one to one already in your stack but that you want more, so you try to maneuver the previous pick from the middle of the stack to put it back. And of course your tower topples.
You bend over to start picking up the books and bump into a display table, which really should’ve been arranged a bit more stably; I mean, come on, it’s not like you moved it that much. But, a stack of books on it comes tumbling down, and to your great embarrassment, they fall by someone’s legs. And, god, when you look up from your crouch at the person now looking down to see what just happened, you go from embarrassed to horrified. He’s beautiful. And staring down at you.
You should really say something at this point, but words — usually your friends, betraying you now in your moment of need, how dare they — don’t come out.
“You alright?” he asks gently, and of course, his voice is mellow and mellifluous.
“Umm,” is all you manage to muster.
He crouches down and starts stacking the display table books.
“I always wonder at how these wonky arrangements don’t get toppled more often,” he says lightly, probably trying to make you feel better. You give him a strained smile, and he returns an adorable grin that makes you really wish you knew what his full smile looked like.
“You’re going to have to tell me which of these were yours and which should go back on the table,” he chuckles. “Oh, right,” you finally speak, and you get a small smile in return. “Um, that one,” you point. “And these.” You start collecting them.
He just nods and keeps organizing the books. When he grabs a couple of the ones you were holding, he stops to read the blurbs.
With his eyes on the books rather than on you, you snatch the opportunity to really look at him. The first word that comes to mind is “warm.” The shades of brown of his messy hair, his focused eyes, his cosy jumper, it looks so warm. He looks so warm, and you feel it in your chest.
He looks up at you, and you start, worried he’s noticed you staring. If he has, he doesn’t let on, just grins at you. “You know I read somewhere once that seeing someone reading a book you like is like a book recommending a person instead of the other way around,” he tells you. He lifts the book in his hand, shows you the cover before handing it back to you. “This happens to be one of my favourite books,” he says more softly, almost conspiratorially.
“Oh,” you say, and you really wish you’d remember how to speak soon.
“Hm,” he affirms. “Please tell me it was part of your selection and not the table’s. Otherwise, I’m going to have to insist it change categories, so you can at least consider it.” “No, yeah, it was mine.” Okay, good. At least when he asks questions, you give actual answers.
“Brilliant,” he smiles. His smile is what’s brilliant. “So you’ve probably not read it yet?” “No,” you say softly. “I envy you your first time.”
“I’m excited,” you whisper.
The books sorted, you both finally stand up again. He’s finishing returning the display books when he notices your scarf still on the floor.
“Oh, here,” he says, grabbing it. But your hands are full, and you’re not sure how to grab it from him without dropping everything again and making an even bigger fool of yourself. You both do an awkward little dance of trying to figure out how to accomplish the seemingly very simple task of his handing you your scarf. Finally, with a chuckle, he straightens it out and brings it over your head, adjusting it over your shoulders. He doesn’t get too close, but he did have to move closer to put it on, and your heart is beating very fast at the proximity. You were right about the warmth, and you’re sure your cheeks are reflecting it, but there’s not much you could do about it. When he takes a step back, you wish he hadn’t.
A few seconds go by, and when you still don’t say anything, with a bit of an awkward air but a warm smile nonetheless, he says, “Alright, well, I hope you enjoy the book.”
“Thanks.”
He nods and slowly starts to turn to go. You’re so nervous, but your heart is screaming at you not to let it end there just because you can be a bit shy.
“And thanks for helping me,” you add a bit too quickly, simultaneously praising yourself for your bravery and scolding yourself for your awkwardness. He turns toward you again. “Yeah, no worries,” he says, and he lets out a seemingly relieved breath.
You chuckle nervously. He does too.
“I’m Remus, by the way,” he says, extending a hand.
You go to take it, but realize your hands are still busy holding the books.
“Oh, right. Obviously,” he says, realizing and looking a bit embarrassed himself as he brings his hand down.
He’s looking at you like he’s expecting something, and you don’t know what it is. Until you do, a few too many seconds later. “Oh!” Too loud, yikes. “I’m Y/N.” Too soft, over-correcting. You cringe at yourself. “Hi, Y/N.” Okay, maybe getting to hear your name in his voice has made all the awkwardness more than worth it. “Hi.”
“That’s a lot of books,” he says, nodding toward your arms.
“Yeah, I, uh, well, yes, I can’t get them all. But I hadn’t gotten to the choosing part yet.” “That part’s always painful,” he says. “Fun, but painful.” “Mhhm.”
He’s slightly swaying back and forth; his hand comes to rub the back of his neck. For the first time, you think that maybe he’s nervous too.
“Well, you’ve helped,” you say. He lifts his eyebrows in question. “Well, I can’t take your favourite book out of the running now, can I?” He chuckles.
“That would be quite tragic.”
“Quite.”
Another awkward silence. But you’d suffer through as many awkward silences as would let you keep talking to Remus. Remus, what a lovely name. So fitting.
“Um, have you read any of these other ones?” you ask, lifting your stack. “Maybe you can help me choose?” Wherever this new found bravery was coming from, you thanked any gods that were listening for it. When he smiles at you, it hits you like a wave that this man is probably going to pull a lot more bravery out of you yet. “Um, yeah, I’d love to take a look. I probably haven’t read them… but it sounds nice to talk about them anyway?” “Yeah, it does. Sound nice.”
“Great.” “Mhhm.” “Do you want to go sit down and look through them?” “Mhhm.”
“Great,” and that brilliant smile. That smile you hoped you’d get to see many, many more times.

Pairing: Remus Lupin x Reader
Description: Reader dresses up and finally gets Remus’ attention
MASTERLIST
——-
“You going to the Gryffindor after party tonight?” Marlene asked as she curled her hair with her wand and a heating spell.
“I want to but it’ll probably just be Sirius and James being overprotective pricks.” I replied, applying my daily makeup.
“But, Lupin will be there! This could be your night to get it in with him!” Alice interjected, throwing her notebook down in mock frustration. I had had a ‘crush’ on Remus ever since I first met him and have been trying my best to get his attention yet nothing has worked.
“Remus obviously doesn’t like me like that, I’m over trying to get him to notice how I feel.”
“Come on, Black!” Alice groaned loudly. “Remus is the stupidest genius I know. I mean look at how he looks at you! He just needs a little more fuel!”
“Let us dress you up and do your makeup! If that doesn’t work then you can give up on your true love.” Marlene offered, practically begging me with her eyes to let her give me a makeover.
A beat of silence fell against us before I gave in. “Fine… but this is the last time.”
The girls cheered before getting to work.
——-
The hustle and bustle of a Gryffindor party was already underway by the time we moseyed down stairs. My nerves were already practically vibrating with excitement due to the palpable energy of the common room. As I swung open the door, several sets of eyes landed on me. I felt like the star of one of those muggle movies.
Marlene pushed past where I’d stopped in the doorway, with a squeeze of my shoulder she whispered, “Told ya you look hot.” She kept walking making her way into the dense crowd.
I turned around to face Alice who was grinning ear to ear. She pinched my cheek like a grandma and cooed, “My little masterpiece is finally gonna get laid.” With a giggle, she walked into the party, probably in search of her boyfriend, Frank.
——-
It wasn’t too long into the party before I found the famous marauders. Remus was sat on a couch that faced away from me watching James and my brother, Sirius, chugging some kind of alcohol from colorful plastic cups. Sirius slams his cap down first, cheering before his eyes fell on me. James followed suit, his jaw dropping to the floor.
“Who are you and what have you done to my baby sister?!” Sirius dramatically exclaimed, gesturing toward me erratically. This caused Remus to turn his head toward me. As he looked at me his pupils dilated and he smiled discreetly.
“Respectfully, damn.” James said with a smirk.
Sirius hits him in the chest lightly with the back of his hand. “That’s my sister!” He said with a dramatic (as always) gasp and the clutch of his heart with his other hand. James shrugged and gestured for me to come over. I took the offer and plopped down on the couch next to Remus. Out of the corner of my eye, I could still see him staring at me. He licked his lips, the tips of his ears turning pink.
‘Whoa maybe Alice and Marlene are right,” I thought momentarily.
The conversation kept flowing between me, James, and Sirius, especially since James was always extra bubbly and talkative when drunk. However, Remus didn’t make a peep the whole of the night that was until James and Sirius left us on the couch to talk up two pretty best friends they saw.
“Sooooo…” I dragged out my words awkwardly. “What’s up, Rem?”
“Nothing. It’s nothing.” He replied smiling but his eyes never met mine.
“It’s okay if there is, I’m always here for you.” I bumped my shoulder with his.
A moment of silence dropped before he blurted. “You look gorgeous.”
Blood ran toward my cheeks. “Thank you, Remus. You look pretty gorgeous yourself.” A shifted closer to him and his eyes finally met mine.
“I look like a sack of beets compared to you.”
“That’s one handsome sack of beets.”
He blinked at me before asking, “Are you flirting with me?”
“Maybe. Are you with me?”
“Perhaps.” My heart raced.
“Would you… hypothetically like to go out sometime?” I ask, bracing for rejection.
“I would love to.” He smiled softly and placed a hand in mine. “How about a picnic and I could read to you just like you like? Hypothetically of course.”
“Sounds like a dream.” We laughed and I felt once again like I was in a movie.

I'll Love You 'til the Grass Around My Gravestone is Deceased
harry potter timeline sirius black x fem!reader
CHAPTER TWELVE (see full series list here)
Tumblr media
1993
"Oh, look, I see Harry coming this way," you say, pointing to the pair of footsteps with the label 'Harry Potter' moving in the direction of Remus' office.
Remus looks over from where he was fiddling with his suitcase.
Sure enough, Harry then knocks on Remus' open office door and you wave at him from your seat on his desk.
"Saw you coming, Harry," you say with a smile, pointing at the map.
"I just saw Hagrid," Harry says, looking at Remus. "And he said you'd resigned. It's not true, is it?"
"I'm afraid it is," Remus replies. He starts opening his desk drawers and taking out the contents. You pick up some of the papers, tapping them against the table to align them up, before handing them to Remus.
"Why?" says Harry. "The Ministry of Magic don't think you were helping Sirius, do they?"
Remus swiftly crosses the room and closes the door behind Harry.
"No, Professor Dumbledore managed to convince Fudge that I was trying to save your lives." He sighs. "That was the final straw for Severus. I think the loss of the Order of Merlin hit him hard. So he — er — accidentally let it slip that I am a werewolf this morning at breakfast."
You cough loudly, poorly concealing a muttered "Prick".
"You're not leaving just because of that!" Harry exclaims.
Remus shares a glance with you, smiling wryly.
"This time tomorrow, the owls will start arriving from parents — they will not want a werewolf teaching their children, Harry. And after last night, I see their point. I could have bitten any of you...that must never happen again."
"You're the best Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher we've ever had!" says Harry. "Don't go!"
Remus shakes his head and doesn't speak, continuing to empty his drawers.
"Believe me, Harry, I've already tried," you say with a sigh. "Can't change his mind."
Remus gives you a look, before returning to Harry. "From what the Headmaster told me this morning, you saved a lot of lives last night, Harry. If I'm proud of anything, it's how much you've learned. Tell me about your Patronus."
"How d'you know about that?" Harry says, distracted.
"What else could have driven the Dementors back?"
Harry relays his tale of the Dementors and how he cast his Patronus to save himself and Sirius, and you beam proudly at him.
"Wicked."
"Yes, your father was always a stag when he transformed," Remus says to Harry with a smile. "You guessed right...that's why we called him Prongs."
Remus throws his last few books into his case, closes the desk drawers and turns to look at Harry.
"Here — I brought this from the Shrieking Shack last night," he says, handing Harry his Invisibility Cloak. "And..." he hesitates, then shoves the Marauder's Map into your hands. "I'm not your teacher anymore, Harry, so I'll leave the map in better hands."
You glance down at it, scoffing, before handing it out to Harry. "I couldn't care less what you do with it, Harry. I've no use for it, anyway. I doubt I'll be doing half as much sneaking around as yourself, Ron, and Hermione."
Harry takes the map and grins.
"You told me Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs would've wanted to put me in danger."
"Danger is a strong word," you say with a slight chuckle. "Perhaps get you into trouble is a better way to say it. I'm sure James would've been highly disappointed if his son never got up to a few rule-breaking antics."
"Seconded," Remus agrees.
There's a knock at the door, and you see Harry hastily stuff the map and the cloak into his pocket. It's Dumbledore. He doesn't seem surprised to see you nor Harry there.
"Your carriage is at the gates, Remus," he says.
"Thank you, Headmaster."
Remus picks up his old suitcase and empty Grindylow tank. You hop off the desk, dusting off your trousers with the palm of your hands.
"Well, goodbye, Harry," Remus says, smiling. "It has been a real pleasure teaching you. I feel sure we'll meet again some time. Headmaster, there is no need to see me to the gates, I can manage..."
He glances back at you, as if to say the same thing, and you immediately roll your eyes. "Can't shake me that easily, Moony."
He sighs knowingly.
"Goodbye then, Remus," Dumbledore says soberly. Remus shifts the Grindylow tank slightly so that he and Dumbledore can shake hands. Then, with a final nod to Harry, he leaves the office and you grin, heading out after him. You turn quickly, placing a hand on the edge of the doorframe and peek your head in through the door.
"Harry, would you come to my office later? I'd like to talk to you about a few things."
He nods, and you grin, turning back to catch up with Remus.
"Oh, Moony, give me that," you scold, grabbing the Grindylow tank and shifting it up to be able to carry it comfortably. "Why have four hands if two aren't being used?"
He chuckles, your footsteps clicking in sync against the stone floor.
"Merlin, school'll be so boring without you," you groan. "I'll miss you."
He gives you a small smile. "I'll miss you too. I'll miss Hogwarts — I really did quite like teaching here."
"It is nice, isn't it?" You agree. "It's nice to have a routine every day."
He hums in agreement.
"I wonder who'll replace you next year," you say thoughtfully. "Hopefully someone who can hold a conversation. I'm getting sick of getting caught in a chat with Professor Binns. It is actual torture — I mean, how can you be a ghost and still be boring?"
Remus chuckles. "You're acting as if you don't remember his classes when we were kids."
You groan. "Don't remind me! Merlin, if I had to go through another one of those I think I'd actually jump off the Astronomy Tower..."
A few students give a parting wave to Remus and he smiles sadly back at them. You finally arrive outside at his carriage, and he turns to you.
"Goodbye," he says, smiling forlornly. "I truly think this past year has been one of the best in a long time. It was nice to spend my evenings with a good friend."
You grin at him, placing the Grindylow tank on the ground and throwing your arms around him. He has to drop his suitcase to be able to return the hug.
"For me, too," you say. "I'm so thankful that you're in my life, Remus."
"And I am thankful you're in mine."
You pat his shoulder, smiling. "I love you, Moony. Safe home — and make sure you write to me in the next few days, yeah?"
He smiles. "Of course. I love you too. And before you say it — I'll find him. Shouldn't be too hard."
"You're an absolute gem, Moony," you say genuinely. "Now, get going!"
He chuckles, picking up the suitcase and putting it onto the back of the carriage. You hoist the tank up and place it beside it, patting the top.
"Bye!"
✧*。✧*。
"Come in, come in..." you say with a smile as Harry enters your office, taking a seat in the chair in front of you. You sit down behind the desk, removing Dubh from her sleeping spot on your chair, who lets out an agitated meow. She quickly settles on your lap instead, curling up again. She really does nothing but sleep.
"Well, Harry. Remus told me everything up until he transformed, so you don't have to worry about telling that tale to me again. I'm sure you're tired of telling it."
You were livid when you found out about Peter. That slimy, disgusting, selfish little traitor. He was your friend! To think you let him into your home, to think you ever had faith in him!
Truth is, you always just thought he was a little...socially inept. He was never very good at talking to girls, and perhaps that was for the best. Bit of an odd bloke. But he was Sirius' good friend, so you had faith in his character.
What a fucking waste.
That pathetic man threw away everything for himself.
He ruined James' and Lily's lives.
He ruined Harry's life.
Sirius.
Remus.
Your life.
You could've had a happy life with your husband and your best friends if he hasn't spoiled it all.
You were so angry. It took quite some time for Remus to calm you down.
He nods. "Professor...if you knew Sirius was innocent this whole time, why didn't you tell anyone?"
You give a bitter chuckle. "I did, Harry. Of course I did. But what proof had I? I wasn't there. All I had was a strong belief in my husband. That counts for nothing in the judicial system. I mean — everyone believed he was guilty. Half of 'em thought I was just as mad as him."
"Sirius asked me how you were," Harry says thoughtfully. You furrow your eyebrows and he continues, "He thought I would have been living with you, not with the Dursleys...'cause you're my godmother. So why didn't you raise me instead?"
You sigh, giving him an apologetic smile. "I...couldn't, Harry. Well — not at the beginning anyway, I was a right mess then — but also because I wasn't allowed. The Ministry reckoned I'd try and kill you — which is like, I know my cooking's not great but it's not lethal — "
Harry snorts and you smile.
I just made my godson laugh!
"Not to mention Petunia totally hates me," you add. "With a passion. Couldn't visit, 'cause she'd have an absolute conniption if I stepped foot in her lovely, pristine home. Didn't write, either. Thought it'd be weird if you only got letters and never actually met me..."
Harry nods, though he's clearly not entirely satisfied yet. "Why didn't you tell me once I started school?"
"Wasn't allowed to do that either," you sigh. "You were already adjusting to so many new things...Dumbledore told me to wait. So I did, I waited a whole year, and then last year he again told me you weren't old enough yet. I was a bit angry at that, honestly...I'd already had to deal with eleven years of no contact with my own godson...but Dumbledore is much wiser than I, and I trust his judgement. And well, this year —of course — would have been a bad time to reveal I married Sirius..."
Harry doesn't say anything and you sigh. "Harry, dear, I really am quite sorry. I wish I could've properly watched you grow up."
Harry just shrugs awkwardly, looking away from you. "What...what were my parents like?"
You smile reminiscently. "Oh, Harry, just the best. Like the best people you'd ever meet — and I know they'd be so proud of you. They'd be so proud of you, Harry, so proud. And I'm very proud of you too."
Harry struggles to contain the smile stretching his lips.
"Lily was my best friend growing up. She was practically my sister. You wouldn't meet a kinder person, and she was also hilarious. I can't count the amount of times I genuinely thought my chest was going to explode from laughter with her," you tell him with a big grin. "And — and James, Merlin, now we used to fight like siblings. I remember one time, he decided to give himself frosted tips without telling anyone, and they were horrendous. Like, actually atrocious and he was so adamant that they were cool and they weren't. I honestly think I passed out from laughing. Oh, wait, hold on — I have a photo here somewhere — "
You pull out the key from your pocket, unlocking the bottom drawer of your desk and pulling it open. You grab a small stack of photos from inside and start to shuffle through them.
"Aha!" You exclaim, pulling a particular one out and grinning at it. There in the photo, is James Potter, his hair tousled and with the most horrendous frosted tips you've ever seen. He's grinning proudly though, and in the corner you can see a red-faced Sirius, doubled over in laughter.
You hold it out to Harry, and he takes it very gently, as thought it's more delicate and precious than glass. He beams at the photo, grinning just like his dad.
"Ah, Harry, you are the image of your father," you say happily. "Would not recommend frosted tips for you."
Harry chuckles, still looking at the photo happily. He gazes at it for a bit longer, before reluctantly handing it back towards you and you quickly shake your head.
"Keep it, keep it! I probably have a copy at home somewhere," you tell him, pushing back the photo. You lean down again and pick up the rest of the photos, handing them all to Harry. "Keep them all. I have loads more at home, I should bring the rest of them in to you."
The look on Harry's face warms your heart. He looks so happy, excitedly taking the photos and rifling through them. You crane your neck to see which ones he's looking at and begin to explain each one.
"Remus and Lily with their Prefects' badges...if you look close, you can actually see James ogling Lily in the background."
"Prank gone wrong..."
"Ooh, prank gone right!"
"My sixteenth birthday, that is. There's everyone...including my then-boyfriend, Alan. You don't have to squint to see the scowl on Sirius' face."
"Everyone spent a week at James's over the summer..."
"Oh, yeah, there's your godfather."
"What's wrong with him?" Harry asks.
You snort, looking back at the photo of Sirius stumbling around and pretending to use his wand as a microphone. "Drank too much firewhiskey. Don't even think about copying anything he does, by the way! Sirius is an idiot."
"I...wasn't planning on it," Harry says sheepishly. He flips the next photo, revealing a happy Sirius kissing a woman wearing a wedding dress —
"Oh, I'll take that one!" You say quickly, grabbing it and laying it face down on the desk.
Harry's cheeks redden slightly and he lands on the final photo. Your graduation photo.
You don't say anything for a second, gazing at it fondly. "Our graduation," you say softly.
Harry looks at it curiously, eyes wandering over the faces in the photo. He points at Alice, asking, "Who's she?"
You smile. "Alice Longbottom. Neville's mother."
Harry raises his eyebrows, looking back at you in surprise. "You knew her?"
"Very well," you say. "Alice, Lily, and I were the greatest friends. And Frank, Neville's dad, too...we were all like a little family." You point to Frank with your pinky finger.
Harry's eyes then focus on Wormtail, and you can see his jaw visibly clench. "Is that..."
"Yep. Wormtail."
He looks like he's nearly about to rip the photograph, so you gently take it from him, picking up a quill off your desk and dipping it in your ink well. You scribble out his face. Some small part of you knows you shouldn't do that. That this is someone who was once your friend. Someone you trusted. Someone Sirius trusted.
But you do it anyway, and hand it back to him.
"There...no reminders now," you say softly. He nods, taking the photo again and giving you a small smile.
You glance down at your watch, sighing. "You better get going if you want dinner. Come chat to me anytime, alright, Harry? I'd love the company."
He smiles, standing up from his chair.
"And take all those photos! I'm sure Ron and Hermione would like to see them too."
"Thank you, Professor," he says gratefully, carefully gathering up the photographs and leaving the room.
You flip over the photo once he leaves, gazing over the wedding photo again. You smile wistfully.

I just woke up from a very vivid fever dream involving Tech and thought I had to capture it. So I decided to make it an X - Reader one-shot and fill in the usual Dream-gaps. If you find any mistakes, feel free to keep them, my fever is high enough to fry eggs on my ribcage, so I'm assuming some typos must have crept in. I file this under 'slightly complicated Fluff'. It might be a little silly too, after all, it was a fever dream.
Tech x Fem!Reader – One-Shot – Distractions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings: Annoying Crosshair/Idiots in Love
________
Ko-Fi (If you feel like giving me some cough syrup)
Tumblr media
You see Tech working on the Marauder outside, sit down near him on one of the many boxes of spare parts standing around him, and watch him for a while. He is fully concentrated, hasn't even noticed your presence yet, is completely in his element, in a focused tunnel, while he works. When you finally ask, "What are you doing?" Startled, he straightens up a little too quickly, bumps his head on the outer hull of the ship and rubs his head with a soft sigh. Tech finally turns to you and looks at you briefly, pushing his goggles up the bridge of his nose with a nimble finger. "Replace a few burnt-out parts, our last mission didn't leave the Marauder unscathed" He frowns briefly, then says before turning back to his work, "I'd appreciate it if you didn't always sneak up on me like that" You smirk and look at the back of his head, as he has turned back around when you say, "I'm not sneaking, you're just hyper-focused again" You hear him sigh softly again. As he loosens one of the charred pieces he says, "Maybe, but you could have cleared your throat" "Maybe I should put a bell on my neck," you joke amusedly. Tech comments, "That would work too, but after a while it would probably be annoying for you and those around you"
You watch him in silence for a little while, then offer, "Want me to take a look at your head?" Tech pauses for a moment and asks, "Why should you?" You roll your eyes with a smile and say, "Because it's pretty, but mostly because you hit it" He glances over his shoulder very briefly, but long enough for you to see how his cheeks have taken on a slightly rosy tint. "I'm fine," Tech waves it off, continues working, stretches out his hand and says, "Better pass me the welding blaster" You glance over the scattered tools and grab the only one that looks anything like a welding blaster. Tech doesn't complain when you pass it to him, so it must be the right one. You ask him curious questions for a while, not necessarily because you're interested in the tool, more because you want to talk to him, hoping for a conversation. You really like Tech, much more than you wanted to admit to yourself for a while. But Tech is a little... different, it's not so easy to get close to him or make small talk. For a while, he patiently answers all your questions, but from one moment to the next, his tone becomes a little more irritable.
"Do you have to ask me all these questions? I work here and would like to concentrate on my task in peace" You swallow, blink, and don't know what to say at first. Then you suddenly hear Hunter's voice next to you, "You guys all right?" "Sure," you say, forcing yourself to smile briefly and hurrying away, your heart pounding uncomfortably. It stings more than you want to admit that Tech has practically shooed you away. Some distance away, but still in sight, you sit down with your holopad on the speeder you came here with and browse aimlessly around the holonet to keep your hands busy. Tech hears Hunter sigh and turns around. When he sees that you are no longer in your seat, he frowns in surprise. He looks around and finally catches sight of you by your speeder. He blinks, thinking, he hadn't actually wanted to scare you away. Tech actually likes having you around, but you're the only person who manages to distract him, to break his concentration, which he can't handle too well. When he hears your voice, his whole mind is automatically occupied with listening to you, recognizing nuances, soaking them up like a sponge, enjoying them. However, this is a hindrance at work.
Tech senses that Hunter is looking at him and returns his gaze. The squad leader stands there, his arms crossed in front of his chest, the typical expression on his face that he always has when something interpersonal has gone over Tech's head. "You know you hurt her?" Hunter asks quietly, patiently. Tech sighs, "I do now" Hunter puts a hand on his shoulder and says, "'Brother, I'm certainly no expert, but I think she really likes you. And judging by the way you react to her sometimes, albeit often very subtly, you like her too." Tech turns the tool in his hands and watches you from a distance for a while, unsure. He shrugs and says, "Well, I was able to rule out a virus" Hunter frowns questioningly. "I don't understand" Tech explains in his typical matter-of-fact tone, "My body and mind react to her, I get warm around her, her voice throws me off balance, her laugh tingles under my skin. To be honest, at first I thought these were symptoms of illness" Hunter raises his eyebrows and suppresses a grin, then clears his throat and says, "Now I understand. Well, maybe you should go over to her. Talk to her."
Your attention is stubbornly focused on the holopad in your hand, you don't look up once, even though you sense that you are being watched. You don't look up either when you hear footsteps and finally Tech clearing his throat. When you don't respond, he says uncertainly, "I'm sorry I snapped at you" "Okay," you say calmly. Somehow Tech was expecting a different reaction, or more, because he's still standing there staring at you while you stare at your holopad, which is currently showing an advertisement for some instant meal. "Are you mad at me?" he suddenly asks, so uncertainly that you almost look up from your holopad. "No, Tech," you say a little more gently. "I don't believe you" Surprised, you look up and look at him. You look at each other in silence for what feels like an eternity. Crosshair walks past in the background and grumbles, "Kiss each other already, nobody can watch this anymore" You both look briefly in his direction, but the Sniper doesn't even stop to wait for your reaction. Tech yells after him, "That interjection was uncalled for!"
"Was it?" you ask quietly. Tech very slowly turns back to you. "Excuse me?" You blink, look at his face, and your courage leaves you again. You wave it off. "Oh, nothing." Tech sighs and sits down next to you on the speeder, his long legs reaching down to the ground, while yours are slightly bent and resting on the footboard of the speeder. After a while, you hear him say, "At the risk of embarrassing myself and making myself look vulnerable, I'd like to confess something to you" You turn your head in his direction to look at him. He swallows as he realizes he has your full attention. He finally opens his mouth and says, "I like you" You can't help but smile automatically. "How much?" you ask again, much more boldly.
Tech blinks, he hadn't expected this question. "You want a measurable comparison?" he asks, surprised. You nod with a grin. Tech slightly blushes and says, "Okay, you don't seem angry anymore, that's a good start. Let me think for a minute." "Okay. Take your time." Suddenly, his eyes light up, and you realize that he has just found a way to tell you how much he likes you. "Remember, you once asked me what the best thing about being part of this squad was?" You nod and say, "Yeah, you said the Marauders and flying it" Tech clears his throat and his cheeks turn rosy again as he says, "I like you more than the Marauders, and more than flying" You beam at him, and you know he's going to start arguing with you and yet you say, "I like you even more" Tech pauses, he smiles but then says matter-of-factly, "That's not possible" "Of course it is," you insist, amused.
You discuss back and forth for a while, comparing how much you like each other and Tech even makes calculations in the end. Crosshair, meanwhile, is standing behind you, more or less sneaking up on you and listening to you, arms crossed in front of his chest, rolling his eyes every few seconds. Tech shows you his holopad, "See, my probability calculation contradicts your assumption" You show him yours on which you have drawn a heart in a paint program and say, "And mine contradicts your calculation" Tech frowns, "That's a heart, not a-" "HEY!" Crosshair's loud exclamation makes you both jump off the speeder, startled, and Tech automatically shoves you behind him protectively. Tech snorts, "Was that really necessary?" Crosshair looks at you with his piercing gaze and says, "Didn't I tell you two to kiss?" "You're rude," you say, still recovering from your shock. "Tell me something new," Crosshair says dryly, "For example, that you kissed each other." "That's none of your business," says Tech indignantly.
"So no," the Sniper says, rolling his eyes and backing away again. You look up at Tech and say, "Maybe we really should?" He blinks several times then asks uncertainly, "Kiss?" As you nod, Tech licks his lips, wondering if he's used his lip balm today, how many hours it's been since he brushed his teeth and if he's eaten anything since then. While his thoughts are still running nervously over each other, he feels your fingers gently reach into the collar of his Blacks that sticks out of the top of his armor and pull him in your direction. Suddenly his head is completely empty, but his heart is beating incredibly fast and his pulse is racing. At the same moment his warm lips gently touch yours, somewhere in the distance you hear Crosshair shout, "GET A ROOM YOU TWO!"

This is my first ever time requesting and i feel a tad nervous about it. Since i don’t know how the whole thing works.
Okay so i've seen in your previous posts that you said you don't write for barty jr as a central character but imma request anyways and maybe just maybe i'm lucky and you do end up writing this request (no pressure tho sweetie)
Basically a Ravenclaw reader x reg x barty. Reader is a total sweetheart but also very witty, playful and sassy in a sweet way. and marauders are also involved in the fic. (Maybe reader is neighbors with James or maybe she's beasties with rem. I don't mind. you decide that.)
Your moonwater x reader one shot was so cute and i’m just craving more of your writing.
Anyways thank you and also if you don’t want to write for barty just replace him with another character or just ignore this whole request. 💗
🤨🤨🤨🤨 I wanted to say no on account of I really don't know that I want to write for Barty BUT....you're just too cute and I love you too much and I didn't want to say no to you on your first request [which: thanks so much for bestowing me with such an honour]. 🤨🤨🤨🤨 cheeky little minx, I bet you did that on purpose 😉
So I present to you, for possibly the only time ever on ellecdc.... poly!bartylus x Ravenclaw!reader
CW: Barty jokes (?) about wanting to kill people - very on brand for him
“Reggiiieeeee.” Barty whined as he walked into their shared dorm room where Regulus had been reading due to the fact that Barty had taken up residence in the Slytherin common room, making reading nearly impossible.
Regulus stifled a sigh and offered a begrudging “yes, my love?” as Barty belly-flopped onto the bed and muttered something (unintelligible) miserably into the velvet quilts.
“I’m sorry, what was that?” Regulus asked, deciding to bookmark his place and give his boyfriend his undivided attention (anything less could end up being detrimental to both Regulus and Barty’s safety).
Barty lifted his head with a pout on his lips to look at Regulus. “How mad do you think Y/N would be if I killed Potter and his friends?”
Point proven.
“I’m sorry, what?” Regulus deadpanned, causing Barty to groan and roll onto his side.
“It’s just she’s always spending so much time with them and they’re all so annoying. And I don’t want to tell her to not hang out with them” (that was a lie; Regulus has heard Barty tell you that the Marauders were 'no good company to keep' well over hundreds of times) “so, I thought it’d just be better if they...disappeared, you know?”
“What have you done?” Regulus groaned darkly, causing Barty to chuckle.
“Nothing! Nothing...” yet.
“You do realize that your hit list includes my brother, right?” Regulus asked.
Barty looked at him like he was sort of stupid. “Uhm...duh, it’s called hitting two bludgers with one beater-bat. Do keep up.”
“Barty, you are going to scare her away...” Regulus pressed. “...you’re kind of scaring me away.”
Barty’s groan nearly turned into a shriek as he threw himself back down onto the bed in defeat.
“Fine. But when we’re trying to enjoy a nice moment with Y/N and Potter and his cronies interrupt, it will be all your fault.”
And with that Barty got up and stormed out of the dorm room. Regulus sighed in relief and pulled his book back out.
So, when the three of you were wandering around Hogsmeade (i.e., you and Regulus were walking hand-in-hand whilst Barty followed, balancing precariously on the stone walls of bridges as well as some fences lining various properties (much to the shop clerks and homeowners’ chagrin), pausing to pet every cat he could find and seeing how many times he could skip stones in the pond [the answer was none, he kept throwing them too hard]), Regulus got proven wrong (somehow), and (even more importantly) Barty got proven right when Sirius, James, Peter, and Remus showed up.
“Hey guys!” You called cheerily, and Regulus was almost ashamed to admit that your sweet smile and kind voice cancelled out any chagrin that the appearance of his brother caused him.
“Hello gorgeous! Baby bro.” Sirius called with a wink, causing Regulus to roll his eyes.
“Can I help you four!?” Barty nearly screeched as he showed up seemingly out of nowhere, all but standing directly in front of you like he was trying to shield you from the sight a particularly horrifying broom crash.
“Barty...” You chided jovially, gently nudging him aside. “They’re just saying hello.”
Sirius looked rather chuffed that you had defended them. Regulus didn’t like that one bit.
“Okay, well hello. You can leave now.” Barty shouted.
“Oh, lighten up, Junior.” Remus called with a smirk. “We’re all friends here.”
Barty scoffed. “I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than be friends with Gryffindor’s.”
“Ew.” Everyone else said in response.
“Come on, my sweet, beautiful, angelic, lovely, smart, wonderful girl. I don’t want you or our beautiful day to be tainted by such scoundrels.” He cooed at you like you were some toddler on the verge of tears from having dropped your ice cream on the ground.
You groaned a little bit but acquiesced, allowing Barty to turn your body in the opposite direction.
“Sorry guys. I’ll see you tomorrow for our study date!” You called over your shoulder, to which Barty quickly counteracted with a “no you won’t!”
“You know, love,” Regulus murmured into your ear, “you’d probably save him a little bit of grief if you at least didn’t call it a date.”
“Perhaps. But look at him now.” You whispered back conspiratorially. “He’s holding my hand and talking a mile a minute about how much of his dad’s money he wants to spend on us at Tomes & Scroll’s.”
Regulus couldn’t help but smirk at that.
A Ravenclaw may have been smart enough to come up with a plan like this, but only the influence of your two Slytherin boyfriends would have made you cunning enough to pull it off.

What are your favorite outfits for Ratchet from the games?
Good question!
As far as the armors go, I usually never actually use them in the majority of the games I play (unless they're forced onto me, like Deadlocked's or 2016's). But I do have my favorites.
Tumblr media
Holoflux
Shocking probably no one, Holoflux is the best. People often say it's their favorite, and that's for good reason— it looks incredibly good on Ratchet. I definitely don't enjoy drawing this armor that much, but I still will do it from time to time because I like it that much, and Ratchet gets pretty privilege.
It's also cool that this armor matches Azimuth pretty well, and I like that it has the "powered down" version in cutscenes. It makes the finale hit that much harder. This is the only armor where I know it's my favorite. The others are in no particular order.
Tumblr media
Quest
Quest for Booty's armor was always rather charming to me, but it got even better once I recognized it had the Apogee insignia on the belt. I am a Talwyn and Ratchet stan at heart, so this pulled this armor above some others just because of that detail. But putting that aside, it also really fits the game it's in and makes Ratchet look like an explorer. He matches Talwyn quite nicely, too, which fits since she's his companion in this game.
Tumblr media
Rebel
Oh my god this armor stole my HEART for so long. I am begging Insomniac to give us more casual fits in the next entry because this armor spoiled me so much. I love the graffiti Clank on the left hand, I love the little jacket, I love how the full gear doesn't cover his face... it's just adorable. Such a good fit that suits Ratchet so much and it's definitely my favorite new armor in Rift Apart.
Tumblr media
Infernox
As far as armors that cover Ratchet's face go, Infernox was always one of my favorites as a kid. Something about its color palette and overall "flame" vibe just screamed early-Ratchet to me. I really like this one, and I definitely prefer it over the more popular Carbonox armor. Then again, I'm also a sucker for Up Your Arsenal. :P
Tumblr media
2002
Not an armor but an absolute classic look. Of all the ones here, it's my favorite to draw since it lets me draw more of Ratchet's fur. It broke my heart to know that IG really wanted to put it in to Rift Apart, but was unable to find a way. I hope they try to do it for the next game, but I'll understand even if they can't. It's just one of the best looks for Ratchet. So iconic.
Tumblr media
Marauder
Listen. This armor is really cool looking, and I like it, and I especially like that Deadlocked lets me take off the helmet too... but boy, this bitch is painful to draw. Simplifying it almost feels heinous to do, since it's just so cool looking but GAH!!!! If you ever wonder why I never update the Deadlocked Together AU, it's because of this!!! This painful armor!!!!!!
That aside, this armor fits the tone of the game so well. It's edgy, it's brooding, it's dark. I love it. The only thing I don't like is the fact they hide his tail :(
Tumblr media
Tuxedo
Despite always playing Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal exclusively without armor when I play, you would never be able to tell because I love wearing the tuxedo Ratchet skins. Somethin about formal Ratchet makes me have heart eyes. Very kissable.
Tumblr media
Robot Pirate
While I obviously prefer rebel, this was one of the only other armors in Rift Apart that I found myself using for Ratchet. The scarf really looks good on him, and I'm very fond of the chest plate. If it weren't for Quest armor's inclusion, I would always wear this armor when going to Ardolis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Comics
Last but not least (because tumblr says I should stop adding images)... the comic outfits. Once again, the casual Ratchet outfits are always going to score higher for me. I loveeeee seeing my boy look more casual. And while the left image looks a lot like his normal outfit, I prefer it more for keeping it loose. That, and something about that blue chest piece never sat right with me. In a perfect world, I think it would have stayed green to keep his earthy tones in tact even after Tools of Destruction.
And the overalls are just. Mwah. Chef's kiss. What a dork. He's so cute. I love him.
Thanks for the ask!

The Seat with the Clearest View: Part 1
Lily and the marauders were his constant, like two separate stars orbiting his universe. But year after year stars get older. Their orbits start to move closer. It is only a matter of time before they collide.
A two (maybe three) part of Jily through the years in Remus POV Very Remus/Lily friendship heavy. Rated T

First Year
By midnight, he convinced Mme Pomfrey he was healthy enough to sleep in his own bed. The situation with the full moon at Hogwarts was taking some time to get used to, but overall he had no right to complain. Mme Pomfrey was cordial if not doting after his transformations, something he hadn’t expected, and he hadn’t been run out of the school by an angry mob yet so that was something of a win.
He trudged through the portrait hole, looking down at the rips that were already soiling his robes, wondering how long he could wait before he contacted his mum for a replacement . A faint sound of a needle hitting plastic echoed through the hall, then a twang of folk guitar drifted from the common room.
 He found the fireplace still blazing. On the ground in front of it was a girl he recognized in most of his classes. She was always easy to spot due to the bright auburn hair that fell down her back. She leaned over a ratty looking book, fringe clouding her eyes and tapping her finger on the table to the music. If she had noticed the peaky looking boy in the doorway, she was not giving any mind.
“Buffalo Springfield?” The girl’s head snapped up and her eyes zeroed in on him. He hadn’t really taken stock of them before, but now under their laser focus, he felt a bit stunned by the glittering green of her irises.
“When did you get here?” She demanded, looking to either side as though expecting some sort of apparition to appear as easily as he did.
“Just got in actually—I er...was sick.” For a moment he feared that he was giving himself away, but her shoulders relaxed and her eyes lost a bit of their sharpness.
“Oh weird—-uhm, yeah! It is Buffalo Springfield,” she motioned to the turntable in the corner of the room, “d’you know them? I thought only muggle—”
“Mum’s a muggle,” Remus said flatly. “We have this album at home—she loves the whole Laurel Canyon music scene.”
Lily’s eyes widened and Remus couldn’t help but think that she looked like a child. It was a stark contrast from just moments ago when her demeanor felt almost matronly.
“I’m sorry, can I sit? Would it bother you? Don’t think I can sleep yet.” Remus nodded towards the couch and Lily shut her book in response.
“No–not at all. Hey—do you know you have a rip in your robes– just there,” she pointed at the gash of fabric he had been taking stock of earlier. He hoped she didn’t notice the stain of crimson lining the threads.
“Eh, yeah—I’m a bit clumsy.” Lily blinked at him a few times but said nothing.
“I’m Remus by the way. Remus Lupin.” He slumped onto the couch. Lily moved to the record player that was now skipping and flipped it over.
“Lily Evans—-hey, it's really nice to meet a fellow muggleborn.” Her voice was light and full. He could tell she really meant it.
“Er—half-blood, but same difference.” Lily giggled.
“It doesn’t really matter to me.”
~~~
When James Potter and Sirius Black asked him to sit with them at lunch, he couldn’t pass up the opportunity. They met during Defense Against the Dark Arts. All three of them had been assigned together to practice the Knockback jinx, but very quickly in, Sirius proposed a sort of game to make things interesting.
“Whoever can throw the other farthest wins,” Sirius explained.
“What do we win?” James retorted. Remus could tell he was trying to sound uninterested, but at the idea of a competition, James’ body all but sprung to attention.
Sirius tapped his chin for a minute. “Hm, If you win…we have to trade you one of our chocolate frog cards.” Remus could tell the prize was just a formality, both boys were now buzzing with competitive spirit.
“Ok–deal. Remus, you in?” The boys looked at him expectantly. He had never made a bet before, much less been involved with a group of boys to make such bets.
“Yeah, definitely.” The two boys whooped in unison, making Professor Slothrop turn to size the group up.
The boys went at it, relentlessly throwing each other back until their loud guffaws caused the professor to break up the activity entirely.
“Not to brag,” Sirius started in at lunch, “but I think I won.”
“No way!” James screamed, shaking his spoon at Sirius. “I totally threw you farther than Vance’s desk, and besides I think Remus here got us both beat. He practically knocked me out the window on that last one.”
Remus felt blood rush to his cheeks. James wasn’t wrong. Breathless from laughter and the continual sensation of hitting the ground, he mustered up all he had left and sent James flying midair, hitting the classroom wall with a thunk. Once on the ground, James laughed so hard he rolled on the floor, causing most of the class to burst into a fit themselves.
“Yeah, good point. Good one, Remus! After lunch we can go back up to the dorms and you can see what cards we got.”
Remus felt his cheeks burning and realized he was smiling. He couldn’t remember the last time he had laughed so hard in his life or if he had ever done so before. He sat back and ate his lunch with gusto, wondering if this was what it felt like to actually be normal for once.
On the other side of the great hall, he noticed the girl from the other night enter alongside a boy in Slytherin he didn’t recognize. They were walking closely, Lily speaking in fast, animated gestures while the boy looked just giddy to be by her side. Lily gestured towards the Gryffindor table for them to sit, but the boy made a shifty glance and started walking the other way. She caught Remus' stare and even from a distance he could see her eyes light up. She gave him a warm wave and Remus awkwardly lifted his arm to return the gesture. He watched her say something to the boy, now pointing in his direction, but the boy’s eyes turned to slits and he pulled Lily closer to him to whisper something in her ear. Lily’s eyes widened, and she made one last glance at Remus and his new friends before following the boy over to the other table.
“Hello? Remus? Who are you waving at?” Remus snapped his attention back to the table where both Sirius and James had turned their heads to follow his gaze.
“Ah, it's nothing. I just met that girl the other night.” Remus looked down at his food and pushed his mash a bit with a spoon. He wondered what that boy had said to make Lily not want to come over.
“Lily Evans?” James’ face went a little pink and his shoulders straightened. “She sits in front of me in Potions—-she smells nice.”
Sirius made a snorting sound. “Why are you smelling people, mate? Disgusting!”
“Dude! Totally not what I meant! Remus, tell Sirius that I’m not smelling people for fun!”
The boys started a bit of a shoving match before settling back down.
“Besides,” James continued, still looking perky and flushed, “She’s hanging around Snivellus, so no wonder she smells good–she has to shower off his stench every few hours..”
Sirius guffawed and almost knocked himself off the bench. Remus said nothing but looked back over to where Lily and this so-called Snivellus were sitting. He knew that James was being mean, but there did seem to be a discrepancy between the pair.
“Oi, Lupin! You coming?” Sirius and James had resolved their tussle and were now standing to leave.
“You should think about asking Polmer to switch dorm rooms with you—we’ve been needing a third for exploding snap…”
Second Year
“2001, A Space Odyssey.”
“Seen it.”
“The Wicker Man?”
“Hell yeah. Definitely, of course.”
“Werewolves on Wheels?”
Remus stopped chewing his licorice wand. Him and Lily finished their charms essay an hour ago and had delved into the finer topics of muggle cinema. Since the end of first year, Lily had sidled up to him as a means to “talk muggle “( her words) and he was usually happy to play along, but this line of questioning was starting to overstay its welcome.
“Er–no.” He said flatly. She squinted at him and chewed at the end of a sugar quill.
“Hm, so, not too big on monster of the week films then—judging by the way you became so icy.”
Remus could feel his face flush, but Lily just let out a laugh.
“Ah, cheer up Remus, I’m just messing with you. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of them either but every once in a while they’re a good laugh.”
Remus felt his head nod, but his body felt completely sunken into the ground. It was still new that James ( and subsequently Sirius) had found out about his condition. Honestly, he couldn’t have asked for better: both boys kept to their word and remained discreet all while remaining his friend. If he could get over the complete terror of it all, perhaps he would find that it was a bit relieving for someone to know.
James and Sirius ran through the library doors, ignoring Mme. Pince’s hiss in their direction. They sauntered over to the table and James slowed to a halt, eyes locked on Lily while shifting his weight.
“Oi, Remus!” Sirius panted, “We just put a dung bomb in the girls bathroom on the third floor. Come sit with us while we wait for it to blow over,” he glanced over at Lily before adding, “Oh hey Evans.”
“Hi—Evans,” James echoed from behind his mate. It was clear his face was flushed from something other than running.
Lily crossed her arms and turned her head away from the two. Remus bounced his gaze between Lily and the boys for a second before making a split decision.
“I’ll be there in a bit—I was just finishing some work with Lily.”
Sirius looked between him and Lily then snatched up a licorice wand for himself.
“Alrighty then,” he said smoothly, “Take your time.” He walked away and James followed after him, turning and gazing back multiple times before they turned the corner. Once they were gone Lily let out a huff.
“Honestly, Remus,” she started, “of all the idiots in this entire castle to spend time with…”
Third Year
Remus didn’t care much for Cokeworth, but he did like to visit Lily. Despite the identical brick houses, neighbors tried to spruce up the street with flowers and various mementos of summertime. They walked down the path towards the old creek at the edge of town, Lily’s arm hanging loosely from his as she talked.
“I don’t get it, Tuney and I used to be really good friends.”
Remus nodded. He had learned long ago that when Lily needed to vent about her sister, he just needed to be quiet and sympathetic.
“Now, she hardly looks at me–I mean you just saw! She had no reason to treat you like she did just now. Honestly, I can’t believe her.” Lily’s arm tightened on his and he gave her a reassuring pat.
On the other end of the lane, something darted out onto the sidewalk and started towards them. Severus Snape was now in his normal clothes, a rather oversized black shirt and jeans too baggy for his skinny legs. He stopped just paces away from them, his eyes wide and his hands curled into balls at his waist.
“Sev!” Lily waved her free arm and made a little bounce on the balls of her feet. She might have been happy to see him, but Remus could feel Snape’s gaze burning into him and more specifically where his and Lily’s arms were linked.
“I was just coming to see you.” His voice was just above a whisper.
“Oh, bugger! Remus came to visit and I was going to show him the creek—care to join?”
If Lily recognized that the two boys were having a conversation with their eyes, then she was ignoring it.
“No. It's fine.” Snape spit out. Lily dropped Remus’ arm and took a step forward towards her friend. Her eyebrows were stitched into a frown.
“Sev? Hey, What’s wrong—did your mum…?”
Snape’s eyes widened and he took a step away from them.
“I said I’m fine—I’ll see you later.” Snape pushed past Lily and Remus, stomping back towards town.
“Well.” Lily scoffed. “I guess everyone in Cokeworth has decided to be a right git today.”
She reached out for Remus’ arm which he gladly accepted.
Fourth Year
“I’m sorry you’re poorly again.” Lily kicked into the darkness of the corridor. They had both been rewarded as prefects over the summer and Lily had practically begged for them to be patrolling mates. The only issue with having somewhere to be on a weekly basis was that it was now easier to track exactly how “sick” he was every month.
“Are you sure there isn’t any sort of potion we can make? Something to make it…easier?” She teetered off.
“Nah, don’t worry about it Lils. I just got back luck.” Lily stayed silent as they walked. He knew what must be running through her mind—he wasn’t a fool. Since last year, Snape had been trying his hardest to find out what he and the boys were up to. With his prying he was bound to start to catch on, and no doubt tell Lily about it…
“Hey, can I ask you something?” Lily didn’t look up at him, rather sliding her arm in his like she had gotten used to. Remus could feel his heart pound. No no no no. not here. He wasn’t prepared to lose a friend like this: in the middle of a bloody corridor on patrols.
“Well, I heard that James Potter saved Sev the other night.” She continued, “---why did he do that? I mean, they hate each other.” Her voice sounded small. He could tell something was battling in her mind, and she felt conflicted on how to proceed.
“Er, yeah. I dunno. James hasn’t said much—” He was lying through his teeth. Of course he knew what had happened, but it wasn’t like he was going to offer that information up to her. What would he even say? Yes Lily, you see I’m actually a werewolf and your pal Sev tried to out me.
“Well—I dunno. He’s your mate. I just—it was nice of him.” Lily finally stammered out. Remus glanced over to find that Lily’s cheeks were slightly red and she was averting her eyes to some invisible point beyond them.
A warm relief ran over him. Crisis averted.
“I mean, James is a good bloke—I know he’s a little rough around the edges,” Lily made a snorting sound, “But he’s a good guy—really Lily. He is.” Remus finished.
Lily went silent again and listened to their footsteps echo down the halls. After a few minutes, she suddenly halted, causing him to also stop.
“Hey Remus?” She turned to him and before he could even respond her lips were on his. The kiss lasted seconds, maybe less. He couldn’t deny that her mouth was soft and James was right to say she smelled good all the way back in first year. But something was missing. In his dreams, he always imagined his first kiss to be like being suspended in midair—a revelation to crack open his world. Instead, he was still firmly on the ground in the corridor, feeling underwhelmed and anxious.
Lily pulled away and burst out laughing. She keeled over and crossed her arms over her stomach to hold back her loud cackles. Remus stood frozen, feeling a complete sense of whiplash. Had she gone mad?
“Oh christ, I’m so sorry,” she choked out. She righted herself, letting the last of her laughter trickle out of her. Once fully composed and started again.
“So, how was that then–I mean for you?”
Remus just stared at her. She must have gone mad. What other explanation would he have for her acting like this?
“Uh. I dunno? —you kissed me I guess.”
“Ok, yes. And did you like it?”
“What’d mean?” He was still completely lost.
“Like would you want to do it again?”
Now it was his turn to stare at nothing in particular. On one hand, Lily was a nice girl. Fit, smart—everything he would want. But on the other hand, he couldn’t deny that he was feeling nothing, perhaps next to nothing besides the glaring alarms going off in his brain about how James would feel about this interaction.
“Look–” he began. He hadn’t expected to be turning his best lady mate down in his lifetime, nor really knew how. Thankfully he didn’t have to do much.
“Ah save it,” Lily gave his cheek a little pinch. “I can tell you didn’t feel it either.”
Remus shook his head. “Uh–what?”
“We didn’t feel it. That thing. You know the thing that makes you want to date someone?”
Remus blinked a few times. Ok, so she was either emotionally brilliant beyond her years or mad— or both.
“Honestly, I’m glad for it—sorry to make it awkward. But at least now we know and can remain friends knowing that there’s nothing under the surface, yeah?”
She locked her arms back with him again and pulled him back into a slow walk. By the time they made it back to the portrait hole, all of the shock had melted and Remus started to come back to his senses.
He had kissed Lily. Kissed Lily. The bird that James quite literally talked in his sleep about. The girl that had been his friend since first year. Kissed. It didn’t matter if they both felt nothing—that Lily had used the kiss as just a tool for understanding their relationship. They had kissed.
“Look—you can’t tell James.” He blurted it out without thinking. Lily turned to him, eyes as slits and arms crossing over her chest.
“Is that right? Why? Because he has some sort of dibs on me and it would hurt his arrogant ego to hear that we kissed–even if it was nothing.”
“I mean—yeah actually. Exactly that. Well, not the dibs part but, you get it.”
Lily continued to stare pointedly at Remus.
“Lily please. He’s my best mate.”
“I’m not his property.”
“Yeah but I’m his best mate.”
Lily closed her eyes and made a deep sigh, clearly folding.
“Fine. Fine. I guess it wasn’t like I was going to offer up the information anyways,” she conceded.
“Thank you, really.” Lily rolled her eyes.
“You boys are so fucking weird.” Without turning back, she swung open the portrait hole and entered before he could respond.
Fifth Year
“I can’t believe him. That stupid git. Did you know, he was playing a Beatles song on repeat at three in the morning the other night?”
“Yeah, we sleep in the same tower, Lily.”
“And how he keeps running his hands through his hair. I wish I could just hex his hand off.”
“Right.”
“And did you see him snogging Jessica Clarebow after the game yesterday? God, what a disgusting display–”
“Ok now, I would hardly call that a snog–she kissed him, that’s all.”
“Well it was revolting whatever you want to call it and–”
“And maybe you are jealous?”
Remus stopped in his tracks. It was the wrong thing to say. The worst thing to have said. If he wasn’t feeling so peaky on the approaching full moon maybe he would’ve thought before he spoke, but it had been hours of listening to her prattle off about James—there’s only so much a bloke could handle.
Lily’s emotional temperature dropped from frigid to blazing hot with fury in a matter of seconds. She whipped her head around to face him, pointing her illuminated wand in his face, causing the man in the portrait behind him to grumble.
“I’m sorry. So sorry.” Remus knew a lost battle when he saw one. The only thing left to do was to plead for his life.
“You think I’m jealous? Jealous of Potter?” She clenched her teeth.
“Er, I guess in this case you would be jealous of Jessica—” Lily’s eyes erupted anew and Remus shrunk back away from her wand.
Lily stared for a beat then made a big vocal sigh, dropping her wand. Her face was tinged red and Remus honestly couldn’t tell if it was from anger or from embarrassment of being caught in her feelings.
“Did I mention I’m sorry?” He offered again.
Lily had fully deflated her anger and stepped away, somewhat sheepish. She chewed the inside of her cheek and ran a finger through the ends of her hair.
“No, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have jumped you like that—I just—Potter gets to me sometimes you know.”
Oh fuck, do I know. “I think he gets to all of us sometimes—in a whole spectrum of ways.”
Lily walked a couple short steps towards the end of the corridor and flopped herself onto a stone bench.
“I just keep thinking that if he hadn’t done that thing to Sev…”
She was talking about last week at the lake. Remus had already expressed his remorse for not stopping his mates many times since the incident, but Lily’s mind seemed stuck in a never ending loop of that day.
“Lily, I think even if James hadn’t been a prick, you and Snape would have had to call it quits.”
Lily pulled a knee up to her chest and leaned her chin on it. In the wand light, he could see that tears were threatening to fall.
“Did I tell you he tried to apologize to me—Sev I mean—that night? Bloody came to the tower threatening to sleep there.”
This was news to Remus. She had rehashed that day many times but had conveniently left out this development. All this time he had been under the impression that Snape now wanted nothing to do with her.
“---I told him I couldn’t be his friend. I did that. I don’t know how to feel—what if could have changed–”
“Lily,” Remus had sat down next to her now and took her hand. She was shaking underneath him.
“You can’t play that game. He chose his path…and–” Remus tried to choose his words carefully,” –and unfortunately that path means actively working against you.”
“Then why would he have begged me to forgive him?” Lily sniffled. Clearly this evening’s theme was denial.
“Well–I think because he fancies you.” He didn’t mean for it to come out so blunt but it did.
Lily’s eyebrows raised under her fringe. She dropped his hand.
“Come off it.”
“Lily.”
“You’re having a laugh.”
“Lily.”
“Oh god.”
She buried her face into her hands, now cradling both legs against her chest. Remus awkwardly stroked her back, not sure how to comfort in this scenario.
“Is that why he and James hate each other so much?” She squeaked out from behind her fingers.
“Prolly doesn’t help.”
“Oh GOD.”
Remus let her curl herself further into a ball, while keeping his hand brushing up and down her back in attempted consolation.
“Maybe I should just give it all up, live in the woods alone like some creepy fairytale witch. Convince everyone I eat babies or something.”
“Ah, I think you are too pretty for that. Sorry to ruin your dreams.”
 Lily squinted at him up over her hands. He could tell he made her smile, if only for a moment.
“At least you’re a good bloke. Though, you have questionable choices in best mates.”
“I’ll take it.” She uncoiled herself, leaning a head on his shoulder. He briefly reflected that if James ever saw them like this, he would probably shit himself. It's fine. He needs to feel the sting of any emotion other than pride once and a while.
“Hey Lily.”
“Hmm.”
“I think you’re really great. Fuck Snape…and fuck James too—though that last bit comes with a long footnote about how I only mean “fuck James” when he’s being a prick and not generally because he can actually be pretty great if you let him.”
Lily snorted against his shoulder.
“Wow, congrats on making the first verbal footnote.”
“Someone had to do it.”
Sixth Year
“Remus! I asked Rosmerta and she said we could use the–”
“No.”
“You didn’t even let me finish my thought!” Sirius whined.
“Don’t have to.”
“Mate, I don’t understand why your birthday has to be a struggle every year,” James piped in.
“It doesn’t—you lot are the ones struggling.”
There was a swift noise of feet running, then Remus' vision went black behind two vaguely feminine feeling hands.
“Woah Evans, don’t know if you are aware, but that’s not how you greet normal humans–”
“Fuck off Black,” Lily hissed, “Remus you are gonna wig out. I got you the best birthday present.”
She removed her hands and moved to stand in front of him. She was bouncing on the balls of her feet, taking on a childlike energy.
“Close your eyes and hold out your hands.”
“Lily—you didn’t have to–”
“C’mon don’t fight it please, I don’t have the heart for it today—some space Black? Potter?” Despite her demand, neither boy backed away, rather pressing in out of curiosity. Remus could see that James was avoiding everyone’s gaze, looking rather red under the rim of his glasses.
Remus complied. Lily took one of his hands and faced it palm up in front of his chest, then laid what felt like cardstock into it.
Remus opened his eyes. They were tickets. Not just any tickets. David Bowie tickets.
“Oh great! You got him scraps of paper!” Sirius chided but Lily ignored him.
The breath went out of Remus' lungs. The feeling of floating, the feeling of arriving on a different planet entirely where every source of joy was abundant and good and just. Dear sweet Jesus David Bowie tickets.
“Lily, I can't accept this. It must have cost a fortune—I heard it was nearly impossible ....”
“Shut up and accept them, besides you are the only person I’d ever want to see him with anyways.”
“Hey, HEY. I wanna go!” Realizing now what exactly the present was, Sirius began rushing at Remus’ still outstretched hand. As quick as possible, he shut his palm and pulled the tickets away before Sirius could make a swipe at them.
“No way Black! This is for Remus and me only.” At the words, James’ face became even more red. He moved to run a hand through his hair, but opted for stuffing them into his pockets.
Sirius recovered from his disappointment quickly, now dawning a mischievous grin.
“Alright then Evans. But then how do you expect to see this aforementioned concert if it is on a school day?” It was a good question, but Lily was unfazed.
“What, like you lot have never snuck out of school before? Him and I will just do whatever the fuck you all do whenever you go off to have your little foursome snogs at night.”
Remus snorted at the audacity of her cheekiness. Sirius also found it amusing, but James stayed stock still.
“You are welcome to make our foursome snogs a fivesome if you ever–”
Lily shot daggers at Sirius, who promptly abandoned his thought. She turned back to Remus and made a little squeal. “See you around 8? Make sure to wear something fab!”
***********
“James nothing happened.”
“Sure.”
“C’mon mate, you know me. I don’t fancy Lily. It was an honest mistake.”
“It’s none of my business who you fancy Moony, you are welcome to do what you like.”
“Ah, fuck off with that.”
Remus had fucked up. He had fucked up bad. It was bad enough that James had dodged him ever since Lily had given him the tickets. Then, when Lily showed up at eight wearing an outfit that plunged down to her stomach and hugged every point in her body, James sulked in the corner of the common room, pretending to polish his broom while stealing glances as they walked out the portrait hole together.
But then he somehow made it worse. Way worse. Irreversibly, friendship destroyingly so.
The concert was not Lily's only gift. She had also gotten drugs. The muggle kind, that changed your brain chemistry on science alone. Feeling in a rather “it's my birthday and I’ll probably never be out past curfew with a girl dressed like this, seeing an artist I would gladly become a slave for for the rest of eternity” mood, he took them with her.
Perhaps the biggest insult to injury of this whole mess was that, in her brain warped, giddy state, Lily had actually confessed that she was into James after the concert. Even admitted to hoping he would see her in the dress to make him sweat or jealous or a nice combination of the two. He had been happy for her, and they had giggled their way down the back streets of London talking about how much James was gonna flip when he eventually, maybe, found out about it—if she ever got the courage to do so.
When they made it back to the common room, they had all the intention of eating some chocolate, playing a few records, then going to bed. What they hadn’t planned on was to fall asleep, leaning on each other in front of the fireplace where Miles Tambor would find them early morning on his way to Quidditch practice. Remus thanked all the gods above it wasn’t James, but the damage was done all the same and the rumor made it around the school by lunch.
“You can ask her…fuck, I’ll make up a truth serum if you want—we fell asleep. I’m so bloody stupid. I need you to forgive me.”
“Like I said, it's none of my business. I’m glad it was a good birthday—now, I need to get to class so if you don’t mind…” James walked past him, shoving his hands into his pockets. Thin red blotches rimmed the underpart of his eyes. Clearly he had been crying.
James was not at the dinner table when Remus arrived in the Great Hall. Sirius and Peter were leaning over the table, talking to Marlene and Mary in low tones, stopping the conversation as he approached.
“Go on. No need to stop on my account.” He threw himself on the bench beside Peter and aggressively started to butter a roll.
“Mate—you need to tell it to us straight. Did you and Evans…”
“NO,” he had raised his voice too high and he knew it. The rest of the tables turned to watch them, whispers erupting around the room.
“I feel like a bloody idiot. We fell asleep. I tried to tell James but he—”
James entered the Great Hall. His face was flushed and as eyes turned to watch him make his way over to the table, he ran a hand through his hair to dispel anxiety.
Without any greeting, he plopped himself down next to Sirius and started piling some mash on his plate.
Sirius sat with his hands frozen in midair, eyebrows so high up they disappeared under his hair.
“Alright, so am I actually gonna have to be the adult here? Because that’s not really my style.”
James took a sip of pumpkin juice with a deliberate gulp.
“No worries mate. It’s fine.”
Sirius’ eyebrows somehow found a higher spot on his face.
“Like how fine? Fine like “it's all good” or fine like a Black family reunion where everyone acts all proper for .5 seconds before a bloodbath begins and all the sudden you have no home or family?”
“The first one—though maybe you should talk to someone about that second definition.” James took a bite of a roll, still not making eye contact. His cheeks had not lost their hues of pink and red.
“James—” Remus ventured.
“I’m being serious. It’s really fine. I had a chat with Evans. She cleared up everything.”
Now it was Remus’ eyebrows turn to disappear on his face.
“You actually asked her?”
“Mhm.”
“And what did she say?”
James shrugged. For the first time in the evening he looked at Remus. The sadness was gone, but something else was rumbling underneath the surface he could not really pinpoint. It wasn’t anger, but it seemed just as profound.
“She said nothing happened. You both fell asleep.”
“And you believe her.”
“Why wouldn’t I?”
“Because you wouldn’t believe me. Your best mate.”
James shrugged and went back to his meal. It was clear that he wanted to drop it. He started talking to Peter about astrology notes while Sirius made shifty glances but otherwise relaxed. After dinner, things went back to normal. A very tenuous, charged version of it at least.
That night at patrols, Remus intercepted her on the way down to the dungeons.
“Lily, I wanted to apologize again.”
“Remus, it's fine. I’m sorry. I should have woken us up to get our arses to bed. I think the worst of the rumor mill is over at least so we can breathe easy.”
Remus shifted his weight, not knowing how to proceed.
“Er, James told me he talked to you.” A flash of red cropped up on Lily’s face. She averted her eyes.
“Uh, yeah. We spoke.”
“Not to pry, but what did you—”
Lily cut him off. Her voice sounded higher, anxious. “I told him what I’ve told everybody. The truth. Besides, It’s none of his business.”
Remus’ brow furrowed. There was something familiar about the way her eyes were looking, like a rumbling of something. An over pouring of emotion not quite her usual fiery disgust, but something else.
“I gotta go Remus. Talk later.” She gave him a peck on the cheek as she had always done, but this time it felt charged. Like it left a stain on his face.
“Right. See you.”
"What about you, Wormy?" Remus asked with clear intentions of teasing him. And because Remus had noticed him sad lately "Thoughts about Mary?"
The four Marauders had been drinking beer, smoking weed and talking about the usual. James living his dream of dating Evans. Making fun of teachers, bringing memories that made them laugh. And as always James and Sirius were the center of attention.
Switching the conversation towards Peter gave him a sweet smile and a glow on his eyes that made Remus's heart warm. He loved Peter and it was so satisfying to see him happy after days of seeing him down.
"What do you mean? The bet is over, Sirius is a pussy and gave up"
"I didn't give up!" Sirius protested "I simply decided to move on"
The way he said it, made Remus believe that he could easily "move on" from what they currently had as well. But better not think about that.
"It is not subtle the way you stare at her" Remus added "More precisely, her boobs"
Better focus on the cute way Peter was blushing.
"Okay fine!" Peter exclaimed "I've been staring! I've been thinking about her! Like a lot!! I dream and day dream about her a lot and it is all your fault" he pointed to Sirius and Remus.
"Us?"
"I never thought about Mary like that until you started teasing me with her" Peter explained.
"Because you were obsessed with your crazy ex" Sirius said under his breath which was dangerous before. Back when Peter defended Susan with claws and teeth. Though now he simply ignored him.
"Now I can't stop noticing how hot she is! And how much I want to..." Peter finished the sentence with a groan.
"We've all been there" James smiled "Mary is gorgeous"
"Yeah, we've all fantasized about Macdonald" Sirius commented, then gave a nervous look at Remus. As if Remus had the right to get jealous or something "At some point"
"But she is unreachable for me" Peter pouted.
"Oh, Wormy" James leaned sympathetically "Don't say that"
"It's true" Peter shrugged as his friends looked between each other hopeless on what to say.
"I have this fantasy, though" But then Peter smiled. And Remus smiled consequently "Okay, listen to this...
"I live across the street from her. We are live time neighbors in a suburban American town or something... And she is the hottest girl in school. She is constantly tanning or swimming in a bikini or working out in the mornings with really tight shorts... And I can see all of that from my window... "
"That's really fucked up" James interrupted "So, you're like spying on her like a creep?"
"Oh, she knows I'm looking half of the time and she is constantly waving at me" Peter clarified "So the thing is that we used to be good friends until she hit puberty and became hot and therefore popular in school. And I was stuck with the group of losers"
"And don't tell me..."
"Guessed it right, Sirius. We are the group of losers..." Peter grinned "You are the rebel punk kid with anger issues who is always failing his classes..."
James and Remus laughed at that.
"Remus is the classic skater boy who is also a junkie... Probably listens to Bob Marly"
"A junkie?"
As Sirius laughed, Remus elbowed him.
"And James, you are the nerd who has tons of allergies and wears suspenders..."
"What??" James gasped as Sirius and Remus roared in laughter.
"Why do I have to be the nerd?"
"Because of the glasses" Peter explained with a shrug.
"If anything I am a jock, not a nerd!" James exclaimed.
"Not in my fantasy" Peter chanted "Now, stop interrupting... I am the geek edgy kid that uses Star wars t-shirts and the same hoodies....Also the leader of the group..."
"The leader?" James gasped "I'm the leader of the Marauders"
"The Marauders is an utopia" Sirius intervened "We don't have leaders"
"Is it your fantasy?" Peter asked irritated "I don't think so, can I carry on?"
Remus laughed "Let's hear it Wormy..."
The way Peter described the scene made Remus play it in his head. The four of them "the losers" as Peter described them, walked into an American school hallway in slow motion. Nerd James with glasses and suspenders breathing through an inhaler, Sirius as a punk with eyeliner, black clothes, chains, purple lipstick and black nails. Angry with the world and scaring everyone that passed around. Even as a punk in Peter's imagination, he was hot. And Remus, lose shirt and trousers with a beanie and his skateboard with a Marijuana sticker on the back. Eyes red from smoking too much in the parking lot.
"I don't think I fit like a junkie" Remus said when he realized he had a lit split on his hand. His friends looked at him with amusement, so he added "I would never use as skateboard"
"Skating would explain your scars in my story" Peter nodded enthusiastically "Anyway, we are walking through the halls until they appear..."
Remus got back into the scene to see the people they were describing. Three pretty girls wearing pink tight tops and skirts. Regina George and her friends kind of style. Marlene McKinnon, Lily Evans and Mary Macdonald, the Queen Bee. Flawless and beautiful. Wind was blowing their hair and skirts as they walked by, attracting everyone around them.
The group of losers stared open mouthed. "I want to know what love is" by Foreigner in the background. Peter was looking specifically at Mary Macdonald and her extreme beauty. The way she smiled. The way she pushed her hair behind her shoulder. The way she laughed when a random bloke tripped over just to stare at her.
"I like the ginger" Nerdy James said as he was practically drooling.
"I like the ginger?" Real life James asked, bringing Remus back to reality. "I would never say that"
"It's not my fault my story is realistic, Prongs" Peter raised his hands.
"Very in character, Wormy" Sirius teased "Please do go on"
"So, you would definitely be a punk?" Remus asked with a smile.
"I would look gorgeous as a punk"
"Anyway! Back to my tale..."
The losers fantasy was over when a group of brainless jocks passed by pushing them along the way. One of them pushed Peter hard against the lockers. Another threw James's books away.
"Watch were you are going, losers!!"
It was Nick Mulciber, captain of whatever team and the most popular boy in school. A total arsehole.
James waved in a goofy way making the group of jocks laugh.
Then they walked towards the mean girls, Mulciber putting his arm around Mary's shoulder and giving her a smooch. Of course they were dating. Popular boy dating popular girl.
And of course they were laughing and mocking the group of losers in front of them.
"That's your fantasy, Worms?" Sirius asked, interrupting again "Being a group of losers?"
"Being a jock wouldn't be realistic" Peter explained "And I've always dreamed of dating a girl like Regina George..." he sighed "Anyway, in my fantasy Regina George Mary is constantly subtly flirting with me, being provocative... You know, like dropping her pencil on purpose so that I can pass it to her and stuff... And it drives me insane... Until one day..."
So Peter told them about a scene in a party, when Mulciber was drunk and wanted to take advantage of Mary. Peter, who was randomly passing by, decided to defend her with the little courage he had.
"Leave the poor lady, alone. You peace of shit!"
"Who the fuck are you? Get away, it's none of your business, nerd!"
Peter got so furious that he punched him so hard in the face than everyone around gasped. Especially Mary.
Peter groaned in pain but tried to act brave telling the wanker of Mulciber to fuck off.
"Mary is a lady and she deserves to be treated like such! Wanker!"
That's when Mary started seeing Peter in a different light.
"Do I know you from somewhere?" she asked.
"I am Peter, we've lived across the street forever and used to be friends"
"Oh! I used to have a crush on you when I was a little girl" she smiled "Thank you for saving me, Peter"
"No problem! I love you" he confessed which made Mary giggle in response.
"You're adorable"
"And basically after that,..." Real Peter finished explaining "We snog through the whole party and later she takes me to her room and we shag all night... And she says I am the best one she's ever had"
"Save us the details" James waved off.
There was a minute of silence when Sirius bursted laughing like a maniac. Of course he was always putting Peter down for his silliness. But then James smiled and began laughing as well. And Remus was smiling consequently.
"I love you, Peter!" Sirius said between fits of laughter "You are a little dude with the craziest imagination ever!"
Peter pursed his lips. But Remus could tell he was happy for the compliment.
"Wanker"
"So, you get the girl" James said as he bit his lip to avoid laughing more "What happens to our characters? Does Nerdy James get Evans?"
"He does it better than you" Peter replied "He starts tutoring Evans and after a makeover she notices his potential"
James snorted.
"Wait, Lily needing tutoring from James?" Remus asked with a smile "That's hilarious"
Peter shrugged "My brain does wonders"
"What about Remus and me?" Sirius added with curiosity.
That's when Remus imagined his junkie version and Punk Sirius smoking outside this hypothetical school.
"So, do you want to make out or what?" Junkie Remus asked.
Punk Sirius wrinkled his empty can of soda on his head and tossed it away. Then he shrugged.
"Yeah, alright"
So they started snogging.
It was silly. Remus was an idiot even in his head.
"Probably got high around somewhere" Peter answered the question.
"Sounds about right" James grinned as he two friends.
Remus smiled back. He looked at Peter with amusement and pulled him for a hug.
"You are an strange creature, Pete" then he kissed his head.
"Oh, our baby Wormy is growing up and having dumb fantasies about girls" James teased.
They started awwing him and making baby noises to bother him. They kissed his cheeks and rubbed his head affectionately.
Peter rolled his eyes "Oh shut up!"
But Remus could see a tiny smile drawn into his face. He was a big part of a Marauders. People and even himself underappreciated how important Peter was. But the boys adored him and his occurrences. Peter was a wonderful boy and Remus was glad to have him as a friend.
***
This is silly 😅 Just a small scene to show Peter's crazy imagination. And mine since I imagined this while listening to Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus the other day. I just found the change of roles between the Marauders very amusing. Hope you got the idea.
