It's been a while since I've been in the dating scene, but when you were/are falling for someone, don't you want to know everything about them personally? More than just sibling count, favorite food, and where you were on one particular night.

I could honestly think of about 10 questions that would have been open-ended enough that could have gotten that man to talk. What about his favorite color? Favorite childhood memory? His dad is a sore spot, ask about favorite place he visited? What did he want to be when he grew up?

In IF, it was a big deal that the cadre was keeping them apart, however, besides when her squad was drugged for RSC, why couldn't they talk mind to mind in Samara? You mean to tell me he blocked you out and didn't get any breaks for food to chit chat when he was on 24hr duty?

The first time he came back to Basgiath, he sharpened weapons and it seemed like there was a several hour time lapse. What did you do just stare at each other?

And I'm aware Xaden could've asked things too. But he wasn't the one making a big deal out of 'I need information to center myself'.

Bodhi mentions Cat, but how long does it take for her to bring it up. If it were me, that would have been the first thing out of my mouth when I saw him next.

Sometimes it just frustrates me how it's always about Violet's attraction to Xaden physically, but I feel a lack in the actual pull just for the man he is because she never asks about him - even before the end of FW.

Don't get me wrong, I know Violet's going through it and she's got a lot to make sense of. If anything, getting to know him better would take your mind off of everything else going on.

On top of that, her mom is a General, she should be more than aware that she can't know every single detail. Brennan even told her the Assembly kept things from Xaden, so he didn't know everything. She isn't new to the military life, and between the scroll that drops and the missives in her mom's office they never hear of, it should be clear they are getting a very watered down version of everything going on.

ohhhh i love them !!! i love them !!! it's soft, it's comfortable, it's a barrel of miscommunication and unknowing pining, it's forced proximity and it's whispered late night chats over games of chess, walks to the kitchen and exchanging study notes. it's so natural and soft, but with bumps as they learn to talk, to allow themselves to take up space and UGH. love. it's also two people who don't know how to talk about feelings forced to come to terms with feelings and two people with a lot of secrets, one of them better at keeping them than the other

What makes me happy about them?

the understanding. i've always seen pete as a people watcher, and the person you go to for advice. i know we typically say james for that but i think he's more reassurance and love whereas pete - chessmaster - plays out each possibility and indicates what moves you have. and i think remus needs that, longsss for it really. someone who just sees him and understands him. and then for pete it's remus' stability. he'll put on a frown and say he's too tired for whatever pete suggests, but he'll give in anyway and they both know it.

What makes me sad about them?

the secrets. the idea that pete could see him so easily but he didn't see the betrayal coming. the idea that remus took pride in the fact that whilst most people over looked pete, he couldn't look away but his vision was obscured anyway. the GRIEFFFF of thinking sirius killed him, and the GUILTTTT at finding out it was the other way. ugh.

Things done in fics that annoy me? -> haven't read any, they exist in my mind (i'm still writing your gift of them do not fear 🤭)

I really don't fw ZKs that can't even like the ship without having to misread every other character/relationship that orbit the couple.

It's most egregious when it comes to how Aang is discussed. Is it not enough to chat with some friends and ask “wouldn't it be interesting if we took a look at his relationship to Katara, except all of his flaws are turned up to 11 so he's a huge scumbag ?”

No, no, we all know the only valid interpretation of a piece if art is that of an objectivist. So, we need to CONVINCE everyone he's secretly this lazy, nice-guy misogynist who feels entitled to Katara's love and can only be stopped by respectful Feminist icon Zuko. Its objective! It's the truth! Oh you wanna defend this fucked up guy? Even tho he did all those things I made up?

If people want to explore that idea, whatever man, exercise your creative writing skills. But to only ever engage with a character from such distorted, insubstantial pov that will do nothing but cripple your ability to see the whole picture.

It feels like we all watched this show, but there's one guy that starts throwing rocks, calling everyone else names when you don't want to discuss the version he made up in his head.

And the Throwing Rocks guy has a gift for debate, but i'd argue textual analysis is an entirely different thing. And he needs to stop insinuating that everyone is bullying him, just because we haven't seen his version of the show.

[BFDIA 12 SPOILERS] I don't fw with coiny winning because in my opinion it just doesn't really change anything. Oooh wow, it's a winner from first season BFDI who is closely tied to the earlier winner from that timeline. Really?? Can't we have something new??? Come on chat. As much as I love the arc of Pin and Coiny, I'd much rather have Pin win. Coiny often just feels like a very insensitive character and honestly just reminds me of an middle school student in general. Yeah, he has his moments but I don't need him winning this season. I hate how Pin and Coiny are big favorites over the other characters. Like, some of y'all can't handle a single inconvenience happen to your favorite without starting to hate the cause of it, right now Bomby. Bomby's probably going to get out (He might, but the votes are so close with Nickel it's unclear) of this even while being a good character. But I know damn well some of y'all are going to brush him off as nothing as all you pay attention to is your *pin*point favorites. Died in 2019 (BFB 14-16), reborn in 2024. Welcome back dumbass viewers. But my hate for Coiny could be also because of my preference of team no name, soo.. I'm just thinking that he's overrated in a nutshell. He's occasionally quite insensitive towards Pin and the other characters, but I guess he has that charisma to keep you all hanging onto him. I dislike him because his charismatic (and personality) aspects feel very generic to me. It kind of pisses me off, which is kind of making me hate him.

I hope that least next episode, the most disliked characters could get some screen-time that could change viewer's minds a bit. I find it a bit annoying how focused the community is on Coiny's and Pin's arc, but I guess it makes sense. anyways I wanna talk abt doflamingo today

Doflamingo's honestly a great villain, in my opinion. This is WAYY different than like.. a great person. He serves as a good driving force for the plot and I think he like is honestly kinda well-written. I mean, the guy's morals and stuff are downright despicable as expected of a villain. I don't know how to add gifs I forogt

Starting off, his backstory is honestly fuckin' sad as hell understandably, I mean obviously he's still a dickhead I mean like one of the first panels of him going down there was "where are the slaves lets buy some"

Quick explanation for anyone reading who a. doesn't know his backstory or b. just wants to read; Doflamingo's family was originally celestial dragons (a whole society 'above' the rest of civilization, generally they're hated by the public but their word goes above anyone elses, even the Marines at times, so people have to keep their shit together) but his father decided to move down to the real world as regular nobles.

yeah so that was a bad idea.

his family was borderline fuckin JUMPED over their former status as world nobles, and were forced into poverty, his mom died, and yada yada he shot and killed his own dad and joined the pirate life. I'm just rereading one piece again after a 2 month break, on alabasta, so details might be off do NOT take my word for granted chat

but like you get the gist, former noble goes down to civilization, is tortured, gets inducted into the pirate life, etc

the reason he was inducted was through trebol, since he saw young doffy and went "yeah that kids got potential" and not in the drake way

yeah so basically over the course of dressrosa (The arc where doflamingos the main villain), we learn more tidbits about his actions like how he took the head of his father back up to the home of the world nobles and asked to rejoin the celestial dragons (he was obviously rejected) and ykw I forgot to mention: doflamingo has a BROTHER. his name is Rosinante, and he's a great guy but he ends up working for doflamingo (spoiler alert: he's not actually there to be a good brother he is a spy) but over the course of the backstory, Doflamingo's newest member, a young Trafalgar d. water law

yeah he's lowk ugly as a kid but it doesn't change much when he grows up

side note: I love how ugly some op kids are like its just funny anyways this isn't abt law that's a whole other rant

anyways so law joins the donquixote pirates (Doflamingo named it after his last name, donquixote) and I'll talk more abt law's stuff later in another rant along with Rosinante (doflamingos brother) however all you need to know ATM in this rant is 1. Rosinante and Law leave to find a cure for laws disease+rosi discovered law has 'The Will of D.' (I'll need to explain that later wont I) 2. Rosinante already ate a devil fruit and if u weren't aware already u cant eat two dfs or else you DIE

During their time out, Rosinante and Law get a call from doflamingo telling them to come back so Rosinante can eat this devil fruit doffy planned to steal called the ope-ope no mi (remember what I told u sister.) so he can cure law

since rosinantes a marine he stops that, and hides law in a chest after forcefeeding him the devil fruit and skipskip andddd oh no

So using his devil fruit the Ito Ito No Mi (which allows him to manipulate strings, allowing him to be like spiderman and also be a puppeteer which btw that reflects his char so much like gyattdamn!) he demands a beri sum of like 10 billion for this king to have his nation left alone before he like takes over him, puppeteering him to slaughter his own people before coming to the rescue yadadyadyaydyaydyaydaydysyay8dy8

so yeah

he takes over dressrosa, actingg as a 'hero' and he and his crew rule over the kingdom now

I don't think I've talked abt sugar yet but she can turn people into toys and form contracts, and that's what she basicallyy did with people who either a. doflamingo didn't like or b. spoke out against the pink feathered fuck

like the way i view it is that lampert was probably a young kid in rokea that eventually grew fond of wallter and mark's shenanigans when they came in one day so he just kinda pitched in for the ride

and like the two eventually just kind of like started taking care of him and schtuff blah blah blaaahhh typical fond family or whateveerr (they still left lampert in rokea for the majority of his childhood but it wasn't until his later teen years that he started to like kind of ""move in"" with them)

idk idk essentially lampert just kind of grew up with the influences of wallmark and occasionally sees them as parents. er. more often than not. but still heavily associates them as "really good and awesome and caring old farts (((friends)))"
