I watched The Eclipse (the series) and OMG I'm in Love?!?! ⚠️ SPOILERS ⚠️

Ya'll I watched The Eclipse the series over the last few days and... omg. I have so much to say so buckle up. Obv there will be spoilers! I also wanna mention that this will be full of very biased takes because I absolutely fell in love with Akk soooo imma be defending him.

Now that that's out of the way, first, can we talk about the couples? FirstKhao's chemistry?! I know I'm late to the game but man they blew me out of the water!!! They were so cute and wholesome (dw I've seen the OF edits, ik they're not always this way lol) and Akk and Ayan just pulled me all the way in! They both deserve the world and I will not hear otherwise! Now, the side couple, KanThua, were not my cuppa tea. I love Neo, I haven't seen anything with Louis in it but he's a good actor from what I've seen, and they look cute together, but they just didn't snatch me up unfortunately.

That leads me into the second topic, the plot (this is where it gets long, strap in). I believe this is the main reason the side didn't snatch me. They were definitely given the short end of the stick (this is before I found out that I hate Thua with a passion but we'll get to that). I would've loved so much more buildup than what we got from them. Thua's storyline just felt kinda off to me. We saw his stepdad say one or two messed up things to him, which ya eff him for that, but every other time he was pretty nice??? Maybe I'm just missing something but idk. Also the whole "Bruce Wayne" thing was eh to me. Kinda cute, kinda weird.

Now, Akk and Ayan's storyline???? Sign me uppppp! I love everything about it! I love that they are so there for eachother and literally picked eachother up off the ground mentally so many times. They need eachother and you can absolutely feel it. Then, also their individual storylines are just amazing. My poor babies. Ayan and dealing with his uncle's death and witnessing the terrible things at the school and getting bullied by the teachers and his declining mental health. Akk dealing with the manipulation of the teachers and his need to prove himself and his need to put everyone above himself and his declining mental health and ugh... sorry I could talk about Akk for ages, ya'll know how I get with my babies lol. All this to say I definitely came not knowing what to expect but stayed for Akk & Ayan.

The general storyline is... a doozy. The whole curse thing was so interesting and then it just... wasn't. But at the same time it was??? Idk it's so hard to place how I feel about this part of the plot. I don't understand the whole thing with Teacher Chadock's confession and that somehow affecting what was going on? Like sir, you still manipulated kids (specifically Akk) into doing awful things, I don't think all that happened is an excuse for that at all? Yes, it sucks and never shoulda happened but like... why act like that towards the students this whole time? And he didn't seem to show much, if any, remorse for his behavior either so... idk.

Now... let's get into ep 11 and Thua's whole thing. I will never ever ever forgive the character of Thua for what he did. I don't care how right he was (which he mostly wasn't), I don't care if he was speaking some facts, you don't ever out somebody like that!!! Esp as a character who we know has faced such bad discrimination and bullying for the same effing thing!!! It makes absolutely no sense and there are no excuses! The fear in Akk's eyes... ugh I wanted to punch Thua so bad ngl. The way that he also isn't even right about Akk 'creating the curse' and doesn't mention that he himself continued it after Akk saw the error of his ways and stopped. He made himself out to be squeaky clean when he honestly had the most blood on his hands after this whole thing. When he was cheering the episode before about finding the "one responsible for the curse" IT WAS HIM! AKK HAD STOPPED AT THAT POINT SO IT WAS ALL HIM! He also wasn't telling the truth when he said Aye was covering for Akk using their love as a cover! At first Ayan wanted Akk to tell everyone what he did... but then he saw what a fragile state of mind Akk was in and decided to try a different approach. Thua should've gone to Akk and Aye himself, he had no right to say anything he said without knowing the full story!!! THEN HE JUST IS FORGIVEN!!! NOO! I know that it's because of the cuts they had to make that we don't get to see the characters forgive him and whatnot but I don't care. He. did. not. deserve. to. be. forgiven. No one is changing my mind!

I could go on forever tbh so let's move onto the third topic... the pacing. I know this is the main complaint for this show and rightfully so. I really really wish they would've gotten the 14 episodes they were hoping for instead of the 12 they got. The pacing is just out of wack. The first half-ish is beautiful.... then it drags (slightly).... then it's rushed. Just disappointing, but not anyone's fault. The crew apparently thought they were working with 14 eps, we can't blame them, and we definitely cannot blame the actors.

Fourth, and final, topic: the acting!!! Uuuugh, ya'll! I'd seen Khao in a couple things and First in Not Me, but this is by far the best I've seen of them! They showed all the emotions and omg these dudes are professional criers, how are they both so good at it?! Btw, I see people talk about Khao's acting more than First's I feel like (could just be what I see idk), but First snatched me up! He killed every single scene, give me chills multiple times (Khao too obv) and showed Akk's character development flawlessly! All the supporting actors were obviously amazing too (special shoutout to my boy AJ cuz I love the twins)!

Anyways, if you sat through this half-rant, half-review, congrats! I honestly love this show and it's for sure going to be one I rewatch all the time and try to dig deeper into Akk's mind every time lol. "Tan is the greenest flag of boyfriends ever to exist. He’s supportive and thoughtful, a constant font of affection and positive affirmations. He delivers snacks and helps with homework assignments. He asks for consent before everything from kisses to cute nicknames. He’s perfectly okay with keeping the relationship quiet even if he’s bad at it and mostly only sulks to amuse his boyfriend. Rain, BL Boys, and Reciprocity

Made @bengiyo and @lurkingshanshan get up early today so they could experience me and @neuroticbookworm's reactions to My Ride Episode 8. Mostly because NBW has been wanting Por to get punched in his stupid goddamn face for the last two weeks, and because I think everyone knew I would lose my shit at that undressing scene. Which I did, in case you were wondering. 

ANYWAY. Over the last couple weeks as I’ve been watching My Ride, these clowns have had to listen to me say over and over again how much I truly appreciate the dynamic between Mork and Tawan. And by that I mean helpers helping helpers, and because I have seen how Mork and Tawan interact with each other throughout this show, I have started developing a theory as to why so many BL boys get sick (especially when it rains or when people are stressed), and a lot of it has to do with reciprocity. Obviously, this will not hold for all shows but, nevertheless…

When I think of BLs where someone gets sick and has to be taken care of, I think of shows like The Eclipse, Bed Friend, and Our Dining Table (I know rain and sickness feature as a heavy part of Tokyo in April Is…but that illness serves as a completely separate plot device) and I think about how the dynamics of the characters play out in terms of how frequently they are being taken care of by their partners versus how often they are taking care of their partners. 

And in pretty much every case, the person who ends up getting sick and needing to be cared for, is the person that spends more of their time caring for their partner. Which is to say, that there is frequently an imbalance in how much (typically) emotional support characters need. [And again, I will take a moment to specify that imbalances happen in relationships and that does not make the relationship bad, or toxic and that does not make a person or character who does not give or receive support as frequently bad people either. It is okay for people to have more needs, it is okay for people to require more support, it is okay for imbalances to exist in a relationship]

In The Eclipse, Ayan spends a lot of his time throughout the entire show making sure that Akk won’t kill himself. Sure, he pokes and prods and is annoying about it at times, but it goes without question that Ayan is putting in a lot more time and energy, especially before they get together in trying to pull Akk out of the mess he has gotten himself in to. Ayan, who is himself grieving the loss of his beloved uncle, pushes that aside time and time again to hold Akk when he cries, to let Akk know he can be weak with him, to being patient and guiding Akk as he navigates his internalized homophobia, to push back against the mindset Akk has been developing thanks to Teacher Chadok. And, it is at this point I will say that Ayan is not alone here, Akk supports him plenty, but in the beginning it is much more tentative and in those moments where Akk wants to comfort or support Ayan, Ayan still has to guide him- Akk sees Ayan being targeted by the teachers, and part of him knows that isn’t right or fair, and he goes to seek out Ayan after Ayan does not appear in class, and all the support he is capable of showing Ayan is sitting there with him in silence. It is Ayan that puts his head on Akk’s shoulder, it is Ayan that asks Akk if he will treat him the same way the teachers are. Akk wakes up to find Ayan gone from the tent and crying outside alone and he takes the words that Ayan said to him when he needed support and gives them back to Ayan, and once again it is Ayan who sinks in to Akk’s shoulder, initiating contact. Ayan guides their first kiss, Ayan is honest about his feelings, Ayan does not get upset when Akk cannot at first admit his feelings for him, he does not get upset when Akk tries to provoke a fight. Akk holds Ayan when he’s having nightmares and that is the one time that he initiates actual physical comfort with Ayan before they kiss, and it is when Ayan is not awake to witness it, and Akk does throw it in his face a little bit the next morning. 

But in Episode 9, Ayan gets sick and Akk takes him home, and Akk gives him a sponge bath, and Akk holds his hand, and Akk falls asleep next to him, and Akk jokes around with him when they are washing dishes, and you can start to see the shift. Akk has started to question his school, his place, himself and his desires, he has started to get more comfortable with his sexuality, to get more comfortable around the boy he likes and so Akk takes care of Ayan. Because Ayan needs to be taken care of too. Because Ayan is stressed out too. Because Ayan is depressed and grieving and angry. And that has suddenly become too much for him to handle, and so it is time for Akk to put aside his own anxieties, his own doubts, his own fears and focus on giving comfort to the person who has given so much care to him. 

And it is worth mentioning that I do love the fact that after Episode 9 almost every single time one of them is upset, the other is also upset, especially in Episodes 10 and 11, I am so here for the way that both of them are comforting each other while they cry over different parts of the same problem.

In Our Dining Table, Yukata is always going to Minoru’s house, he is always cooking for Minoru and Tane, he is always helping take care of Tane. While Minoru is unaware of the way that being around him and Tane has been helping Yutaka heal old wounds, Yutaka is spiritually and physically providing a lot of support to those boys. When Ueda-san is out, the burden of raising Tane has been lifted in part by having an additional set of hands. Minoru doesn’t have to worry about Yutaka being upset that Tane is with him, Minoru doesn’t have to worry that Yutaka will be annoyed at Tane for being a child. Minoru, who has given up so readily and so willingly so much of his life to make sure his baby brother has the love and support he deserves, finally has someone enter his life that loves and supports him in a way no one ever really has. Minoru doesn’t have a career, Yutaka does, Minoru has not completed his education, Yutaka has, Minoru has a lot of family responsibilities, Yutaka doesn’t. So in their relationship to and with one another, Yutaka typically needs less support. Then he gets sick. And that becomes Minoru’s opportunity to repay all the kindness Yutaka has shown him and his family. Minoru gets to cook for Yutaka instead of Yutaka cooking for Minoru and Tane (or Minoru gets to cook for Yutaka instead of with Yutaka), Minoru gets to replace the fever patches on Yutaka’s forehead, Minoru gets to stay there, with Yutaka and listen to him, to be a literal, physical support for Yutaka when he rests his head on Minoru’s shoulder. Yutaka finally gets to put all the things he has picked up aside, and just allow himself to be cared for for the first time in a very, very long time.

And Bed Friend, as the show from my examples that feels most in keeping with the traditional tropes of the genre, highlights this give and take particularly well. Because Uea has been through what he has been through, and because Uea still continues to go through what he’s going through, he is heavily reliant on King for emotional support. Which is not to say that King is acting as Uea’s savior all the time, or that Uea isn’t capable of supporting King, but that objectively, fundamentally, Uea has much bigger, much more pressing, and much more intense problems than King currently has. Which means it typically falls on King to run emotional support for Uea. King helps Uea through his panic attack in Ep 1, he drives Uea to the hospital and pays for his mother’s taxi ride, he comforts Uea when he is nervous at the doctor’s, he bears witness to Uea’s trigger and tries to help, he is decently patient waiting for Uea to process that, he rescues Uea from Pock in Ep 4, treats his bruises, he notices when Uea is anxious and makes him take a bath and brings him birthday cake, he gets Krit fired, he helps Uea make a decision around what to do about his stepfather. And because Uea is constantly in some crisis or another, the only time he really offers any support for King for the majority of the show is when King is venting about not wanting to go home and the expectations his mother has for him. Then King goes out in the rain and gets sick, and Uea finally has an opportunity to spend all of his time taking care of and doting on King. He gets to give King meds, and cook King breakfast, and cuddle King and King gets to just be sick and sleepy and not have to worry about anything but getting better. 

All of this to say, that I frequently view the reason BL boys get sick as a way to make a typically imbalanced support dynamic between characters have some reciprocity. 

But My Ride doesn’t do that.

My Ride is one of the first BL’s I’ve seen where I feel like both characters have an extremely reciprocal relationship the entire way through. Before they even really know they like each other, before they get together, every time Mork helps Tawan, Tawan almost immediately helps Mork in return. Both men are caretakers, Mork gave up his chance of education to pay for the tuition of his girlfriend so that she could get an education, Tawan is a doctor and always covers his coworker’s shifts all the time. He leaves the house early and leaves work late because he is always finding someone to help. When they first meet, Mork is crying over his break up and Tawan comes up to him asking for a ride, sees Mork crying and says: “Are you okay? Is there anything I can help with?” and from there the entire rest of the show is just Mork and Tawan see-sawing back and forth when it comes to taking care of each other (the next two paragraphs are every example but if you are like ‘wka there is no way in hell i’m reading all that, just skip to the tl;dr).

Tawan needs a ride to get stage props but doesn’t know where to go, Mork takes him to a market he knows and gives him a tour to orient him, Tawan buys Mork a drink, Mork holds the supplies Tawan bought and Tawan helps feed Mork the drink he bought

Tawan helps a dog that has been hurt, Mork helps Tawan fix the props that got run over because he was inspired by Tawan’s kindness, Tawan takes Mork’s hand and is so excited and grateful that Mork would do something like that for him, Mork fixes the props and Tawan invites him to join the party, Mork drives Tawan around when he is off work to help him find Nadia, Mork is sick but crucially Tawan does not take care of him, only uses Mork’s fever and sore throat to make an in universe public speech announcement about not taking antibiotics for a virus, Mork goes with his uncles to the hospital and puts on a nice shirt and catches Tawan when he collapses from exhaustion and goes to buy him food, Tawan takes Cheep’s case so that Mork’s uncles can get treated faster.

Mork sees Tawan is bummed and brings him to the river where he usually goes to make himself feel better, Tawan invites Mork to Loy Krathong, Mork goes to indulge Tawan, Tawan gives Mork the popsicle flavor that is his favorite so he can share something he likes, Tawan helps talk Mork through his panic on the ferris wheel

Mork runs back in to the park to look for Tawan during the shooting, Mork washes the blood off Tawan’s hands from helping the injured child and drives him to work, Tawan treats and loses a patient and Mork waits outside the hospital to make sure he has water and comforts Tawan when he breaks down. Tawan thanks Mork which is something that Tawan has always hoped the people that he helps would do for him and haven’t, Mork avoids Tawan cause he is uncertain about his feelings and then makes up for it by letting Tawan drive the pillon, Tawan crashes the pillon and makes up for it by treating Mork’s wounds, Mork brings Tawan chicken heart rice, Tawan brings Mork snacks to repay the favor, Tawan confides in Mork about his concerns around Por, Mork tries to comfort Tawan and lets him ride the motorbike to cheer him up, Tawan buys Mork food.

TL;DR time and time and time again, for the length of the entire show from when Mork and Tawan were strangers, to acquaintances, to friends, their entire relationship has been completely reciprocal. Kindness is repaid with kindness is repaid with kindness, in a way I have truly not seen in most BLs, as I have told poor Ben, Shan, and NBW enough times they are probably sick of hearing it. 

Which brings us to Episode 8, in which an expectation I had from BLs was subverted, because these boys spend half an episode soaked to the bone in the rain. Now, having watched approximately 60 BLs in the last year, I know what happens when a BL boy gets rained on…someone’s getting sick (off the top of my head I can name Ren, King, and Win who all get rained on and then immediately get sick). 

But 

THAT

DOESN’T

HAPPEN

HERE

That doesn’t happen in the slightest, and Mork and Tawan are in the rain for a very long time. Tawan doesn’t get sick even though he trudges through the rain to Por’s apartment, Mork doesn’t get sick even though he’s driving around on his motorcycle in the rain, Tawan doesn’t get sick even though he collapses on the ground in the rain, Mork doesn’t get sick even though he drives and then carries Tawan’s unconscious body through the rain all the way Cheep and Dej’s house. 

And my theory as to why is because neither one of them needs to get sick in order to be cared for, neither of them needs to get sick in order to prove that they both can act as support for each other. 

Because even when Tawan is upset, even when Tawan is heartbroken, the reciprocity remains: Mork gets in a fight with Por and Tawan treats his wounds, Mork finds Tawan collapsed on the ground in the rain and carries him to his uncle’s house and changes his clothes, Tawan wakes up and cooks Mork dinner in return.

This is a show about helpers helping helpers and I love it so much. I love that everything Mork does for Tawan, big or small, is revolutionary for Tawan (I mean, I don’t love it in the sense that Tawan should be being treated better by the people around him but just that Mork does things because he wants to, because he sees Tawan is sad, because he sees Tawan is tired, because Tawan was nice to him and it is wonderful that Tawan has found someone that will care for him like that). And Mork, Mork has someone that will do the same, Mork’s last partner left him and moved on to another man very quickly (and possibly while they were still together) even after Mork had spent so much of his time and money on paying for her education. Even in the happy memories Mork has in that apartment after their breakup have his girlfriend making comments related to money, that they are eating too many instant noodles, that the house is too small, etc. and it breaks my heart because Mork lives that way because so much of his money is going to fund her education. 

Let me tell you what line will haunt me forever, it’s something Tawan says in Episode 5: “No one has asked me how I am for awhile. These days, people are always asking me to do things for them and I do it without expecting anything in return. But deep down, I guess I do. So, thank you” 

Because this is what their relationship does and will boil down to, Mork does things for Tawan without having to be asked, without asking for anything in return, and Tawan does things for Mork without having to be asked, without asking for anything in return. And because of that they are both receiving care from one another in a way they have never been given before. And it is part of why I am so okay with them not getting together until the end, because we have seen from the very beginning just how well these two work together, and get a deep understanding of how they will navigate low points both for themselves and for when conflict arises between them.

Anyway all of this absurdly long essay (Captain Hands who writes 20,000 word essays returns @bengiyo) to say, that I am beginning to suspect the purpose of BL Boys getting sick is to balance the scales of physical care in stories where one part of a couple does not have as many support needs and that it is very lovely and refreshing to see a story where every single action is repaid in kind. (Again, not that disproportionate levels of care are inherently bad, but because so many BL stories rely on tropes around a character with emotional fortitude, and a character without it). 

Loving this show, sad that it is ending next week and I don’t get to experience the rewatch live, but you better believe this is going to become a comfort watch for me going forward.

I won't deduct points for Akk and Aye's clear relationship dynamic (and kink), but I will deduct half a point for singing and a full point for that teacher/student plot this show is still pushing. Actually, that gets a point and A HALF deduction!

8/10 CockTails for making me, a person who believes in pushing boundaries, realize I have clear boundaries that cannot be crossed.

I didn't love Vice Versa, but I am ecstatic to see its installment next week. It's giving me Baby Shark. It's giving me colors. It's giving me Sea's side profile. It's giving me the possibility that Tess had a kid!

Our skyy 2- Wrap Up

Since this is an anthology and I, being the simp that I am, have watched all of the original shows, I thought it'd be fun to rank all the episodes.

The thing is, even though I have watched all of the shows, my opinion on these episodes are very reliant on my opinions of the original show as well. Meaning if I loved the original show and the our skyy episode was meh, it might be ranked lower than shows I didn't feel so highly about, but the our skyy episode delivered. Anywho-

7. Sky in your heart (ep 3-4)

Tbh I wasn't the biggest fan of the original show, but this episode was very in tone with said show. It was overall, cute. The greenflags were greening with the communication and lack of jealousy. You go boys! Live your happiest life.

But I did miss the other pair of the show (idk if you can technically count it as this show since they were two 7 episode series, but I would have liked to see even a cameo from them). Good vibes. I liked it.

6. My school president (ep 9-10)

To anyone who hasn't already, you havvvveee to go watch the original show. It is so sweet it will give you diabetes. And I loved the concept of this episode.

As a fanfic author I was mostly here for the validation that all our headcanons are canon. But, it felt like a highlight reel with roles reversed. Which is interesting but 2 episodes wasn't enough time to develop that story.

For what they attempted they did aight! I kinda wish we got something more post canon in their universe, happy cute boyfriends™, but yk. It's okay. More Fourth and Gemini always makes me happy. Plus the cast seemed to have fun filming it if the behind the scenes are any indication.

5. A boss and a babe (ep 11-12)

Listen, half the excitement of our skyy is missing these characters. So it was surely a choice by gmm to time this episode riiiighhhttt after the finale of the show.

That being said, this episode was pretty dang fun. Am I still mourning the loss of multiple unresolved storylines from the show they set up and literally forgot about- yes (Drake, you deserved better🤧). But considering our skyy 2 is the biggest "who took my FANFIC out of ao3 and into YouTube" plot ever, I'll overlook it.

This episode managed to do what neither enchanté nor abaab did- show me the appeal of forcebook. They are very cute in light-hearted settings. I'm yet to see them thrive in the drama, but only friends is happening soon... Soooooo

4. Never Let Me Go (ep 1-2)

Now thiss was a perfect soulmates AU for TV (or YouTube in this case) if I've ever seen one. We got the time travel, the drama, the classism all wrapped in a ball of all fluff and no angst. They understood the assignment.

Again. I missed my second couple (I am Perth Stan, I can't help myself. The 6 of us who demanded justice for Chopper, I see you!) But I didn't miss them too much, coz the premise was fun.

(I also loved the house set that they had!! I wanna go visit it if it's real!)

3. The Eclipse (ep 5-6)

These two episodes are single-handedly responsible for increasing the average number of kisses in Our Skyy. I wasn't even expecting this many? Even if it was basically just prep for Khao and First in Only friends, I'm still here for it.

It was also surprisingly an episode that caused a lot of debate about Akk and/or Ayan being out of character, which I didn't expect, but have my opinions on.

But overall, it was an extremely sweet episode with political and social commentary that the show had, but commentary lite. The locations were fantastic! I honestly just want more First and Khao in everything, please and thank you.

2. Bad Buddy x A Tale of a Thousand Stars (ep 13-16)

Speaking of who took my fanfic out of ao3, OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. I knewwww we can trust in P'Aof for delivering a story. BUT DID I EXPECT HIM TO PUT ALL MY FAVS IN THE SAME SCREEN AT THE SAME TIME???? What great times we're living in *sighs in bl*.

Watching EarthMix slip back into phuphatian was a pleasure. Ohm and Nanon are sooo awesome! I missed Pat and Pran so much. The crossover could have easily gone into the forced-for-fanservice territory, but they had a plot for it!🤌🏼

They brought back characters that felt like home. Even the conflicts were so lived in. It is self aware in what small things can blow out of proportion.

Watching Pat and Pran in their college years hiding their relationship after reading countless fanfics about it- just, tears. Thanks! I love them. I missed them. I'm living for this. I see why this was at the end. Worth all the hype and more.

Still screaming about this, and have been for two weeks. Will keep you updated on when or if I stop.

Buuuut the reason I didn't rank this at the top is because we didn't get enough bad buddy in the crossover. I loved both the shows, but i feel like pat pran were slightly overshadowed. I was lowkey cringing by the end too with the second atots recreation of the series!? Oh god. But we got a proposal! And the confirmation it's an open secret?!? And whatever tf it was that korn and wai were doing backstage🤡. So it was almost in the number one spot, it's just that I preferred my actual number one spot episode more.

1. Vice Versa (ep 7-8)

Did I expect vice versa to be this high on my list, nope. Did I fall and virtually adopt this kid as soon as he came on screen... Maybe👀. Are Jimmy and Sea climbing up on my couples i can't wait to see more of this yes- also maybe.

But even otherwise, I think this episode had the most solid and cohesive storyline. Everyone felt familiar and acted in character. They even wrapped up the whole random-kid-showed-up-at-our-front-door plot surprisingly well. Like if you watched the episode, they left very clear hints.

They even kept the colour theme (even though multi colour isn't technically a colour, would have gone with white or black maybe, but that's just me).

I did not expect this to be my number 1. Actually, i was barely even looking forward to this episode. But it was a pleasant surprise.

And I was shooketh, considering my biggest complaint about the original show was that they left too many threads loose.

Jimmy and Sea were so good! Got me even more excited to see them in Last Twilight (in P'Aof we trust).

23.5 Ep 10

Last week we introduced a little angst via Sun possibly going to the US for a year, Alpha having some relatable struggles regarding her place in life and her family, and poor Aylin being accosted by everyone and dealing with it by smashing her food in Ton's face (no sadness for him, he deserved it).

Sigh. I should have known they'd do the towel falls and panic ensues thing. I can't pretend it doesn't make sense, lol. And we still have that gloriously sensual kiss from the end so I can't really complain.

Dinner with the folks. Poor Ongsa, she's so nervous, but Sun's family is so warm and lovely.

AW I like Sun's parents. I always love it when parents react positively in BLs and GLs. My favorite is still Akk's parents in The Eclipse, but He's Coming to Me was good too.

Okay. I don't know how other people feel about this, but I will say that I firmly believe in not changing your plans for a love interest. Do not switch colleges, do not change cities or reject a great job offer or decide not to go to the States to study in what is a golden opportunity for you. Do NOT. Especially not when you are a freaking teenager, my god.

I hope Luna feels bad. I love her but Aylin's my girl and she totally pushed her into a corner. I still do wonder if Aylin does want friends but she doesn't know how to handle people being genuinely nice to her, but she has to go at her own pace. And Ton was way out of line. Read the room, himbo. Some people don't want you all up in their face.

I don't know the more I thought about it the more annoying it got to me. I'm not really mad at anyone - they're all stupid kids tbh and I remember enough about being a stupid kid that I can give them some leeway, mostly because none of them meant any harm - but I do think that the appalled reaction was aimed at the wrong person in that situation.

I just want Aylin to be happy okay? Whatever that looks like for her.

You know, it would amuse me if Ton and Mawin wound up together after all of this. I don't think that's what's gonna happen but it would amuse me.

I still think that Ton only wants Charoen because she doesn't want him. I would love it if they don't end up together but I don't have that much hope.

Oh no. Please you two do not make her feel bad.

Oh Aylin.

Look at her face. I just have to say it, View is so damn good in this role.

"But we're friends" doesn't really cut it when she's spent most of her life being picked on, Charoen.

YES Bambam tell them. Genuinely, I do love that the girls are getting this kind of...gentle reminder from them that not everyone is the same and that just because you want someone to open up or talk to you doesn't mean that they are ready, and if they are never ready or never want to that's their choice. I do think that they're both pushy because they care about Aylin, but well. They needed to hear to slow their roll. And I do love the gentle way that Bambam lead them to that conclusion on their own.

Ugh Nida and Bambam are great. Now if they would just kiss, please.

Okay I know that this year separation sucks when you're young and in love. And that a lot can change. But also, maybe I'm just unromantic because I'd still do it. I also knew that Ongsa would not want to go with her, although my guess is that in the end she does.

I do wonder what all this looks like to Ongsa's parents. Literally every time they have a meal with these kids someone is having an issue.

I actually kind of love that Ongsa is being the mature one here. And I agree with her. Because I really do feel that when you do something like that - give up on a dream because of a relationship - it will more often than not become a crack in that same relationship you were so desperate to preserve.

Does Ongsa think that her parents are gonna be upset that she and Aylin are in relationships with girls? Because they really do not seem to be bothered by the idea of Aylin and Luna at all.

Not that I agree with Sun doing it either.

“You’ll do great, I know it,” he tells Akk.

He doesn’t get back the stoic, “I’ll try,” he normally does before exams – Aye knows this conversation by heart, by now, so he’s got his mouth open to answer by the time he realises what Akk’s actually saying.

Cute, wide grin on his face, Akk is nodding and saying, “I think I might, yeah. I feel good about these ones!”

And, Aye’s mouth still hanging open, Akk leans in to kiss him on the cheek.

Then Akk pauses, and Aye thinks he’s decided to go in for the full routine for a second – he doesn’t often do it without Aye insisting, but considering the peppy grin and the frankly unprecedented excitement for a test it would not surprise Aye now – but instead he purses his lips jokingly, tilts his head, and places his open palm under Aye’s chin.

Feeling his mouth be tilted closed by this alien creature who has taken Akk’s place, Aye just lets it happen, blinking rapidly as he stares at the way Akk’s eyes crinkle with amusement and delight.

When he’s got Aye’s mouth closed, Akk leans in, presses a quick, closed-mouth kiss to Aye’s lips, and follows the rest of his classmates into the exam.

Most of them aren’t looking at Aye; that’s good.

It would probably be embarrassing if they saw him standing there, bewildered and flustered, because his boyfriend of over a year kissed him.

He’s just-

Since when is Akk this confident?

Before his midterms he was up almost all night, not studying so much as panicking, and Aye throwing a blanket over his head five hours before the first one was the only reason Akk got any sleep at all; walking out of those he was nearly crying.

That whole thing was so bad he changed faculties, and that was the last set of tests, so this is really, really unexpected.

As is Akk kissing him first in public like that.

So instead of heading to a nearby café and waiting for the I’m done text, Aye parks himself on the bench right outside the room and waits, wondering.

Okay, he remembers, the tests back in school were kind of different – there was no near-crying (not from Akk, anyway) and other stuff was going on that made the crying more likely, if anything – but even back then, Akk went in with a sort of grim determination, not… this.

Akk is good in school. He used to be good at tests, too. It’s just that he pretty much always feels the weight of every expectation and possible negative consequence on him at once, all the time, and tests are things with a lot of expectations riding on them and even more possible negative consequences, and Akk has always been, just, obviously and excruciatingly aware of it.

So.

Aye’s kind of lost.

The kissing part was nice, of course, but it feeds into the whole Akk’s being weird thing because Akk does love kissing Aye, yeah, obviously, and he’s sweet and affectionate and very kissy but only with Aye and around the friends they know really well, not just… out in the open, right before a test.

He gets shy when he gets stressed!

What has happened.

The thoughts stop feeling new after a while, because tests are even longer when you’re sitting outside them waiting to end and it’s not like any of these changes are actively concerning or anything, so Aye’s actually just playing Candy Crush when the doors open to let out the first early-finisher.

He blinks, looks up, doesn’t recognise this one of Akk’s classmates; they smile at him, though, so he smiles and waves back before checking the time.

A whole hour to go.

He’s demolishing another level pretty mindlessly, still playing back the cheek kiss-chin close-mouth kiss routine in his head, when he hears a happy, “Aye!”

When Aye looks up, it’s to a couple of people Aye still doesn’t recognise making shushing motions to Akk, who loudly whispers an apology to the now-closed door.

Akk has left his exam early.

With friends.

He doesn’t look distressed about it.

Turning his phone off and shoving it in his pocket, Aye raises his eyebrows and folds his arms and says, “Come here,” then pouts his lips in only semi-exaggerated fashion, because Akk’s still trying to make a good impression on his new classmates.

The wide-eyed ‘oops, I was loud’ face Akk had been wearing melts into the fake-embarrassed sincerely-delighted smile that always has Akk’s eyes focused on the sky and Kan jeering at him – there’s no Kan here now but the tiny girl to Akk’s right laughs quietly.

In a whisper, she tells Akk, “Guess we lost you,” and both of Akk’s classmates depart with waves.

Akk walks over to Aye and stands over him, smiling.

Not standing, Aye nods to the place next to him on the bench and says, “Sit down with me.”

“Mn,” Akk replies.

He’s still smiling and it’s one of his real, truly happy ones, so Aye does quickly take a picture to make him roll his eyes before he takes hold of Akk’s chin, this time, and starts tilting his head back and forth, staring intently.

Akk tolerates it, putting a hand on Aye’s forearm and stroking up and down it but not interfering with Aye’s examination.

Eventually, though, Akk starts to giggle, and whispers, “Aye, what,” as Aye keeps looking.

“Hm?” asks Aye, still staring.

“Is there something on my face,” Akk says, pushing Aye’s hand just a little bit away.

Aye takes advantage of the motion and exaggerates its effect, falling backwards – as Akk gasps, he brings his hands up to catch Aye and pull him back in.

This gives Aye the opportunity to flip around onto his back and, more importantly, onto Akk’s lap.

“Oh,” says Akk. “I see.”

He’s laughing – probably at Aye, but whatever, Aye won that, he settles in happily and stares up at Akk from a new angle as he explains, “We aren’t leaving this bench until you,” he pokes at Akk’s chest, which is weird at this angle, “Tell me who you are and what you’ve done with my boyfriend. Akk doesn’t like exams. I get excited for exams.”

Akk probably rolls his eyes, but the nice thing about this angle is that it’s hard to tell, so Aye graciously ignores it.

Someone walks past, and Akk raises a hand to wave to them; Aye catches the hand in his own as it comes back down, and he winds their fingers together over his own chest.

“Aye,” Akk fake-sighs at him, “You literally helped me decide to switch faculties. You helped me pick Education! Didn’t you think I’d like it, Aye?”

Picking the new faculty had been… tough.

The crisis after his last Engineering exams had been real and it had been building for a while and it had been so hard for Aye to watch and to help him through, quieter and less violent than the first crisis he saw Akk in but with such strong echoes it was sometimes hard for Aye to breathe.

He’d been happy that Akk wanted to change, after all that, instead of trying desperately to bulldoze his way through; it was proof of Akk’s growth. There had been lists of pros and cons and possible options and when the final decision was made-

This isn’t the time to think about Akk softly, shyly suggesting that Teacher Dika, that Uncle Di was the kind of person he wanted to model his life on. It’s mean of Akk to bring that up right now.

But it’s so nice when Akk’s happy. He smiles like that, all wide and real and pretty, and he sounds so open and-

Aye’s sitting in the sunlight, real and metaphorical, and he’s staring at his boyfriend’s face, which is bent over him so he can, actually, look at it properly now, which is one of Aye’s favourite hobbies, okay, so it’s not his fault he forgets to answer.

But Akk laughs at him and makes a conceding, “Uh,” noise and adds, “I didn’t actually like the test, it’s still stressful. I’m just,” he sighs and tilts his face back to the sun, which is unfair to Aye, and after considering for a minute, finishes with, “Relieved. I’m happy to come out of a test and be pretty sure I did okay, after what happened a few months ago.”

“I love you,” Aye says, because even the chin which is the only part he can actually see of Akk right now is beautiful and they’re on track, things are on track, even the weird things are hopeful and good.

Because Akk’s actually a terrible boyfriend, he says, “Yeah, I know, you’re so clingy.”

Five minutes later, they’re apologising to an unimpressed professor – that good impression project of Akk’s might be a little fucked.

When was the last time you cried? When Akk thought Aye had genuinely forgotten his birthday and he was telling people not to worry and he was just so hurt and delicate and then Aye started singing and he teared up because it meant so much and I cried with him but mostly because I wanted to smack Aye, tbh. Oh, boy, be nice to your sensitive boyfriend, he's doing his best!

Do you have kids? Do the ones I work with count? No, not of my own, but sometimes my students feel like my kids. I'm so proud of them. <3

Do you use sarcasm a lot? Constantly. Here, there, everywhere... beware. I do tend to very sarcastic sometimes but I do try to keep it under control and not use it against people, just against... ideas.

Day 121 of missing AkkAyan.

Today’s scene is the direct continuation of yesterday’s. I wanted to split it into two parts because I had plenty to say about it.

This part of the scene in particular is a very obvious moment of Ayan diverting from his ‘bad boy you can’t do anything to me’ personality that we see him adopt at the start of the show. When he is hurt and angry and all he cares about is revenge. The Ayan who is ready to burn Suppalo to the ground and use Akk against himself to get what he wants. For that Ayan the only thing on his mind should be finding out who the curse is now, who is making horrible things happen in the school that killed his uncle.

But it’s clear that version of Ayan is a sort of mechanism he developed to deal with his grief. A persona that he might of thought suited the ‘new’ him, hardened by his uncle’s loss but in reality was only a temporary attempt at a solution that barely lasted two episodes. From him admitting this in the “I used to be an introvert” scene to his actions in this scene the fakeness of that personality is apparent. Ayan is barely interested in taking more actions to find out who the perpetrator is, even if that should still be on his mind seeing as it now affects the new people he cares about (mostly Akk). He is returning to that ‘introvert’ side of himself although it is about much more than being an introvert. That soft Ayan we see at the cafe with Dika who has wide eyes and an innocent face. The side of him that just wants to sit with the boy he is falling for and eat dinner. Just wants to help Akk feel better and spend time with him.

Returning to this form of Ayan is more than helpful to his mission that I talked about yesterday. Essentially overwhelming Akk into accepting his feelings by allowing him to play a passive role. Only giving him opportunities to disagree rather than try make Akk prompt something himself. The parts of this scene that are Ayan repeatedly insisting they should eat together are a combination of not giving Akk the option to say no as well as just him being his cute pouty self that he feels more comfortable being. A pouty self I expect to see again in Our Skyy. There’s also the less obvious benefit of using his true self to get Akk’s attention and that is that Akk actually gets to see that side of Ayan. Although their initial relationship had mutual interest and attraction, moments like this are when affection and love play a part. The Ayan that Akk first met was one he was attracted to sure, also overly focused on but this Ayan is the Ayan that Akk learns to love. When the problems with the school stop getting in the way of their relationship and they can truly get to know each other past what they were forced to be because of grief and manipulation. I miss them, more and more very day.

I thought this would be a short one today but that’s what happens when you write it in the middle of the day instead of near midnight.

A very personal rating of the Our Skyy2 episodes, in airing order cuz I am doing it weekly, if you stumble upon this list it is my personal opinion! if I rated your favourite episode low don't take it personally, we all love different things and maybe my favourite was the one you liked the least

Now here we go:

NLMG: 8/10 I really liked it, I liked the og show fairly enough more by the end than the start, but the special? I liked it a lot, I am a sucker for time traveling and period pieces so it played with my heart strings, I had some issues with the pacing and story but overall I liked the more romcom feel to it that to me PP are perfect for, bonus points having Pawins character score a bf! also it looked amazing! I love Jojos directing and the colorgradiants he used here

SIMM: 5.5/10 It was fine, nothing that bad, I onestly liked the first episode more than the second only cuz the pranking made sense, Maitee and Sean were being annoying and deserved to heve their asses handled to them, also the possible side couples played a big role on my liking this, they could have made SM or TM, but they didn't, tho WS are cute I can give them that, it didn't make much sense but ok, tho the major downside was the plotlessness and ok it is a 2ep special but they could have done more, just KN being sikeningly cute doesn't cut it for me, also News directing style is not for me

THE ECLIPSE 9/10 Ok I might be biased, you take a look at my profile you can see that I love FK and the Show, I didn't give it a 10 cuz the first episode had some issues mostly on how Aye acted torwards Akk, but this second one? Basically perfect! they were the sweetest and most loveble ever! all the kissing? The popsicle scene?? The bar scene??? The last scene???? PERFECT so I gave it a 9 cuz of ep1

VICE VERSA 5/10 ok so I wasn't the biggest fan of VV when it aired, but I wanted to go on this with an open heart and it was broken! and again I wanna say: FREE TALEY! Puen and his supposed best friends manipulated him! Using a CHILD! It was cute at the start, I still like JimmySea, but they had to go and ruin it, if the kid was actually Tess's child I would have been a lot more happy even tho Taley would have been a victim yet, better than being manipulated tho still chosing to be with Puen and satying friend with them! Sorry but this continue to not be my thing, saved by the cute cast!

MSP 6/10 It was all way too rushed, they wanted to combine all of 12 episodes in 2 and the result felt rushed and staged, like a bad movie that the characters produced, plus the only characters that were actually convincing were Tinn Por and the moms, the others felt stiff and too similar to their original character, the MV was cute but the sang was average at best, Tinn liking Gun since 10th grade(or at least it is implied) doesn't align with ep1 unless Tinn was lying the whole time, the ending scene was a bit confusing I don't know if it was made like that cuz they hope for a s2 but I didn't really get it, if the ending was either Tinn or Gunn waking up it would have been a good twist, anyway it was fine

ABAAB 5.5/10 Ok I did go in a little biased with this show cuz I really didn't like it, tho the first episode of OS2 was actually not that bad I did enjoy it but then the swap "bet"(it was basically a bet right?) happend and I got reminded how much I don't like this 2 people! and I feel bad cuz I do like ForceBooks interactions IRL but Gun and especially Cher I don't like them and I feel like they wrote them episode after episode without a clear idea on who they are cuz they act according to the plotline of the episode! Also I didn't like that we never got a resolution for the little fight ThreeZo had!

BBS×ATOTS 7/10 I changed the score cuz that last episode deserve a 9 if not a 10 it was perfect with pacing story and acting, but the rest didn't work for me especially the 2 crossover episodes, they sacrifaced the story to just make a mix and match of the 4 main characters! in the crossover they spend more time apart and with somebody else than with eachother and the time spent lost was too much, it didn't progress the story at all! if they did 2 eps dedicated to each couple amd then 1 only ep crossover maybe it would have worked better, also as I said Longtae was nowere to be found and not even mentioned and I am bitter and pissed about it still, I also feel like the characters especially Phupa were kinda ooc

Am I very biased with The Eclipse? YES INDEED!(but it is very obvious from my blog so do I even need to specify it?) the others I am more objective, tho mind you! NLMG wasn't one of my faves but I really liled the OS2 ep!(but I saw that people that liked the show didn't like the OS2 ep and vice versa)

So we arrived at the end of this journey, this thing was in my drafts since week 1 so 8 weeks can you believe that? anyway I have to say that I enjoied this show overall, it wasn't perfect and production was clearly rushed but it still worked and people enjoyed it so that is all that matters!

Oooh okay, this is weirdly hard, because I watch a lot of shows repeatedly, but I don't know that I turn to any of them for comfort when I'm like...upset, or stressed. When I do return to a show, it is either because it makes for good background sound to help me concentrate better on a task, or because it's wriggled its way in to my brain and I need to just get it out of my system. But honestly, if I'm feeling in need of comfort, I mostly just watch whatever I was currently working my way through, or start something new, because I mostly just need something to distract me for long enough that I forget how to experience emotions.

So, I guess for this challenge, I'll just talk about the shows that I have rewatched the most.

KinnPorsche: I have watched KinnPorsche a whopping 14 times, front to back, and there are definitely a few episode (Ep 6 in particular) that I have likely watched more than that. The first 4 watchthroughs were because KinnPorsche was my first BL, and I had never seen anything like it before, and didn't really know where to find more, and so I devoured it again and again because it just made me happy to have a mafia show where everyone was gay and homophobia wasn't really a thing. Unfortunately for me, and everyone, I found KinnPorsche right around the time that I had to write my thesis for my degree, and I had discovered that because I have ADHD and I do not know Thai, it was helpful for me to focus by having something playing in the background, and even more so if it was a Thai show because then the words I was hearing and the words I was writing wouldn't get mixed up. Which meant I found..ten people that I made sit through this show with me one by one until my thesis was done.

Our Flag Means Death: I watched OFMD 11 times, because I hadn't seen anythign quite like it, and because there was non-binary representation, and because it was my first show with elder gay men finding their first love, and because it was just fun, and in my opinion very expertly handled in terms of switching from a slapstick comedy to something much more rich, detailed, and serious by the end. I think I was hitting a pretty significant low, and it was one of the few dopamine hits I could get. So I milked that puppy for all it was worth.

Bed Friend: I literally could not tell you what it was about this show that captured me so thoroughly. I think it was simply just how surprised I was at how much trauma they included in this show, without any advanced warning in the trailers. I just wanted to see Uea happy and so I watched this show repeatedly until the season ended.

The Eclipse: I have seen The Eclipse six times front to back, and traced the trajectory of Akk and Ayan's relationship much more than that. Akk is my favorite BL character. I liked seeing how complciated his character was. And I just remember being the kid who had so many adults asking things of them, so I sympathize really hard with the fear Akk has of letting people down. I also just love how strong of a message Golf was sending, and just loved watching First and Khaotung cry.

What We Do in the Shadows: I have seen the first three or four seasons of WWDITS like five times, and there are particular episodes (The Wellness Center) that I have seen upwards of 20 times. Again because I was sleep deprived, broke as shit, and stressed out of my goddamn mind balancing school and work, I didn't have the brain power to look for other shows, so I just watched this or used it as background noise.

Young Royals: I have seen this show roughly five times. Young Royals is the show that made me realize that it was actually really helpful to have foreign language shows running in the background while I did work. I really liked it, and I thought they navigated sweet and serious very well.

Bad Buddy: I have seen BB four times. I love how much goofiness and joy they managed to pack in to such an emotionally charged show. Ohm and Nanon are incredible actors, and it was a very very very good show. I watched it one, and then saw a fan edit of them on social media and went "I miss my boys" and watched it again. Then I rewatched it with a friend, and then there was a clown rewatch leading up to Our Skyy 2 which was really helpful for me because my lovely mutuals on tumblr are massive Bad Buddy fans and it was extremely educational listening to them discuss the show.

Laws of Attraction: I have watched this three times since it finished airing less than a month ago. I just love Charn and Tin so much.

And then we're gonna get in to movies, because those are the only shows I've really watched on repeat on my own:

9. The Old Guard: I watched this movie 11 times. I do not know why. The first time I saw it, it was fine, the second time I saw it something absolutely rotted my brain, I thought it was the best action movie that has ever been made, and I could not stop watching it. Maybe it's just cause I'm gay and Charleize Theron and KiKi Lane are hot, and Joe and Nicky were allowed to be violent, masculine, gay, and immortal. 10. Big Eden: I do not know how many times I've watched this movie, it's probably five or six. But this is one of my favorites of all time. It never fails to put a smile on my face. Pike is one of my most beloved characters. Before I even really knew or acknowledged my queerness, I saw this film, and for the first time in my life, when the movie was done. I IMMEDIATELY started it back over and watched it again. Back to back. It's so sweet. AH!!!!

·        Secret Crush On You – At first I kind of cringed through the first few episodes, but then I fell in love with the characters and the show had me rooting for all the couples to end up happy. I have even rewatched a few episodes! Mostly Sky x Jao parts  🤭  

 What have been the BLs that you felt a bit disappointed with this year?

·        Check Out – I honestly did not see the point of this one at all!!

·        Star and Sky: Sky in your heart –LOVED the first part, but the second part NOT so much…I actually had issues with Fah. He seemed interesting at first but then I don’t know part way through he just seemed creepy. I did however like Prince, though and thought he was a cute.

 What has been your favorite BL this year?

Just one? Really? I mean there were so many this year that I liked BUT if I must choose …. then  Bad Buddy it is!!  I loved both Pat and Pran both for different reasons of course and I found that I could to relate to both of them in the way they reacted to different situations. Their chemistry was amazing!!! I really loved their face expressions they shared with each other it was like a language in its self …like they knew what the other one was thinking without the use of words. Loved the communication they had when either one didn’t like something the other did. Example when Pat called Pran wife…and of course loved the ending.

 What's your non-BL favorite this year?

Extraordinary Attorney Woo – So I had seen a lot of post and gifs for this show and I love both of the leads - Park Eun-bin and Kang Tae-oh in other shows so I just had to check it out. I found most of the cases interesting and of course loved how Younwoo was able to think outside the box but still within the law to solve most of these cases.  I was amazed at the way she tried to relate to others and treat them in a way that they didn’t feel uncomfortable.  I loved how Junho treated her from day 1 with respect and care and not like a person with a disability (even though most of her coworkers did not) You could tell from the beginning his feelings were genuine! Youngwoo and Dong friendship is amazing and of course the greeting to each was cute.

Our Skyy 2 Live Blogging

They really filmed the episodes for this in parallel and it was fun and chaotic to get all the spoilers for them. This is one my GMMTV's 2023 most anticipated shows, so I'm very excited.

My most anticipated are Bad Buddy, My School President, and The Eclipse. Then, NLMG > 1000 Stars = SIMM > Vice Versa and I don't plan on watching ABAAB. Bad Buddy was my most anticipated when the announcement happened because it's my favourite BL and I miss Pat and Pran so much T.T but since then, My School President has aired and I care about seeing both the characters and actors in that (NobiGun I'm gonna scream for 80 years); I don't care about ONN as a ship for Bad Buddy and I don't really care about seeing more of The Eclipse but rather am mostly excited for KhaoFirst. So now it's MSP > BBS > Eclipse

Never Let Me Go Apr 19, 22, 23

The actual show left me with a meh feeling but I really liked this historical time travel soulmates nonsense. It was cute and fun and I'm happy to have seen Nueng and Palm one more time. Also the Ep 2 part 1 beach kiss from the present time took me by surprise but it was great. Also think it's funny that we traded 1 Dangerous Romance couple in NLMG (Perth/Chimon) for another (Marc/Pawin).

I do like Pond/Phuwin and wonder if they'll get another show next year or not.

Rating: 6.5/10 - same as NLMG

Star In My Mind

I don't care about or remember this show but I like JoongDunk enough and idk, I'm in the mood for cuteness

Ep 1 (Apr 26): they're soo cute and also even though it initially seems like Kluen's always scheming to or pushing for more physical affection from Nuea, Daonuea's the same way with the kissing in part 2 end and part 3 beginning. Daonuea's just a schemer in general (with Maitee and Sean for example) and I like that

Ep 2 (Apr 27): So much more boring rip it's like how Kluen and Nuea got boring in the actual SIMM show once they got together. also sad that we didn't even get Nay/Sean but still had to abandon Sean/Maitee for them rip.

The Eclipse - May 5

It's my first week at work + my laptop charger stopped working, so I didn't watch this during release but am watching on Friday.

Ep 1: My beloved beautiful KhaoFirst back on screen, hello. I'm actually a big lover of established relationships + conflicts in such a relationship, so I like this in theory but I feel like I couldn't quite understand what was going on or what was making them be so irritated at each other and also the characters esp Ayan were a bit ? to me if we compare them to their The Eclipse selves; I think a longer show where we could see patterns of behaviour would've been so good if this was a longer series. Also they're sooo cute in part 4 ahh Ayan trying to make up with sulking Akk and Akk just being like ">:( sometimes you make me feel so good and other times you're horrible"

Ep 2: ahh friendship is magic Akk-Wat-Kan conversation with them wholeheartedly supporting Wat without glorifying his decision - even if his directorial dreams fail, they'll still support him T.T

I got spoiled since ep 1 aired that Aye was planning a surprise while pretending to forget Akk's birthday and yeah, it's dumb to make somebody sad for 2 weeks for a surprise smh also since his friends knew, they should've shaken some sense into him .

Anyway, very horny ending, nice.

Overall: They have some very good things I love (established relationships going through some problems or navigating things, lovely friendships and supportive friends, lots of pecks and cute kisses) with some things that will forever annoy me (I think this sort of "surprise" is bad and mean agh) and also Ayan didn't quite feel like The Eclipse Ayan. The parts that were good made me smile though, I like KhaoFirst a lot.

Tangentially related but now I'm wishing KhaoFirst are in a slightly serious drama about an established couple going through a rocky period - but not like tooooo dramatic or with big consequences like divorce or custody battles or anything. more like alan/wen where they still love each other but keep hurting each other (not via cheating though) and make it back together by the end.

Rating: 6/10 - significantly lower than The Eclipse

Vice Versa - May 10

I get why people keep up with weekly shows, I haven't been able to binge any show since I started work/internship but coming home to watch an episode is fun and doable. But I think this pretty much only works because it's a 2-episode arc that's gonna end the same week rather than watch 1 ep and think abt it the whole week.

Ep 1: I didn't really care about Vice Versa or Puen/Talay or JimmeySea but this episode was fairly cute, good for watching while somewhat paying attention but not really analyzing or thinking. I also liked that the kid shows up like 2/3 of the way in and we get some o the couple being coupley before that

Ep 2: Boring and idc and also slightly annoying with the secret thing

I'm so excited for next week MSPxOurSkyy, idc if people are sad it's the same scenes and not college Tinn/Gun. i’m forever a lover of flipping dynamics + we get Nobigun so i’m hyped

My most anticipated (beat out Bad Buddy because for that one I'm only interested in the characters but not the actors whereas I'm into both the actors and characters here)!!

OST: Love Love Love (May 16) - I smiled through the whole thing! It's It didn't beat out any of my MSP OST faves after 2 listens but that might change later who know

Ep 1 (May 17): They're just cute! Tinn was soooo into Gun knowing how to ride a bike lol. Also the switching of cute scenes among pairs was interesting too, like Tinn/Gun getting the motorbike scene and Sound/Win getting the homework scene.

they made fans guesses with TiwPor secretly dating come true and they're even scheming. that's cute even though i don't really feel any attachment toward TiwPor

It's Frigay which means my favorite disaster(s) are back! Mostly Ongsa it's true but I have my suspicions about Sun, lol.

When we were last here Ongsa had just been outed as the ex of the campus heartthrob Ton. Who I just feel like I'm gonna like a lot, okay, the dude is ridiculous.
