i am SOOO unbelievably thrilled by your anthro au omg. do you have fashion ideas for the characters? like their favorite outfits, fabrics, etc? imo one of the best parts of anthro characters is deciding how they'd express themselves through their clothing :]
I HAVE A FEW ALREADY!!!! i dont have many specifics because theres so many characters ahd i havent drawn them all yet LOL but i'll share the ones i do have at least SOMETHING for
im also trying to keep these reasonable for the time period and location, as in my au the clan cats are mostly rural and in small towns set (mostly) before the 2000s so most may dress more modest and conservative (especially if theyre older and very religious)
squirrelflight - the best i can describe her sense of fashion is that it ranged from tomboy as a younger girl and is currently closer to a working class butch. im not sure if masc would be a more appropriate term since i dont hc her as a lesbian (shes bi) but she dresses "like a man" and owns a lot of jeans, slacks, and button-up shirts of all kinds of fabrics and patterns. she also enjoys bright colors as well, but as she got older her fashuon sense got a little more sensible and less "loud" like it was in the 60s and 70s. she also has glasses like her daddy once shes like 35 or so. she and firestar dressed very similarly, and a lot of her shirts and neckties are things she stole from his closet
feathertail - very feminine. hippie adjacent, lots of loose and flowing garments and jingly pieces. breatheable clothes and open toed shoes. her favorite swimsuit had some little frilly bits on it i think. often combines neutral earthy tones with blues and whites
crowfeather - lots of handmedowns from his father. clothes you can do farmwork in like jeans, overalls, hardy flannel/denim shirts and boots. never grew out of this and still dresses this way and he likes it
jayfeather - he looks like a modernized (as far as the 80s goes) version of his father - same hairstyle snd way of dress. he isnt too formal but does have some more preppiness to his clothing style (polo shirts and sweaters). he avoids full button downs since buttoning them himself jjust gets frustrating since he cant match them up every time. new wave band shirts. he also wears orange tinted glasses to protect his eyes (in this au i wrote that hes able to perceive shadows and light pretty okay, but not much else beyond that) And Kinda As A Fashion Statement cuz it goes well with his facial structure and hairstyle i think
lionblaze - hes like if the stereotypical jock and stereotypical 80s rock+metal enthusiast had a baby. muscle tees and bandanas, ripped jeans, those absurdly short shorts, crop tops, etc. he's a drummer i think if that matters LOL
ivypool - punk, also sorta like joan jett to an extent. very homemade, tho sometimes she gets lazy and doesnt really commit to the outfits all the way (but definitely has the mindset, dint get me wrong). one of those girls with a chest small enough to go braless 99% of the time; wears a lot of tank tops and sleeveless shirts LOL
bone/brick/scourge - just google "the outsiders movie" or "greaser" and you'll get the idea. tho i imagine these three in particular also have some kind of bare minimum formalwear scraped together from their escapades. theyre kinda like the jetts/sharks from west side story if that helps at all
daisy - she combines flowing, pretty dresses with a sunhat and work boots. she also teaches horseback riding and owns a few (its a business she runs w smokey and floss. i think its be funny if they were polyam ITS MY AU I CAN CHANGE WHAT I WANT) and she has horseback-appropriate clothing as well
poppyfrost - THEE preppy girl of the 80s. big hair, perm and all. dresses with pastel colors. her sisters cinderheart and honeyfern are pretty similar, tho i imagine honeyfern is a little more sporty and cinderheart takes inspiration from madonna once shes trying to court lionblaze
hazeltail - long haired country girl butch. enough said
spottedleaf snd cinderpelt are nuns lol

CONCEPTS AND RAMBLINGS | "animal" cult pmv extras
thank you everyone for liking my pmv (and on yt and twitter) !! i got more attention than i thought it would and that means the world to me! <33
here’s some of my concept art + rambles for it!
the first thing i made up, the character designs!
i didn’t think to refine them because they were good enough to use LMAO... so i scribbled colours down, threw a filter and called it a night
i wanted a sharp change from the verses and chorus (since the song goes from calm to... louder) so i made it greyscale (with a red filter) that changed to brighter colours!
also changed the text font/colour for ignacio hmm. the font was hard to read, in my opinion.
ignacio's design
ignacio loses his bandage colours because that was too many colours for my liking… i completely forgot his hair highlights tho
ah and he doesn’t get a mouth until the fire scene too…
it was only meant to be done for a few frames but i thought it be cooler if it was consistent.
the missing mouth represents his repressed feelings/silence, or something like that.
skidad's design
i got a few questions on whether skidad was a goat. despite looks, skidad’s design is actually based on the herbiadean/jacob sheep! four horns!
i have drawn skidad as a jacob sheep before as well!
look at them ominous friends.
the resemblance to goats is something i considered as well (links with cult/sacrifice) so i think of it as a fun bonus
i gave him wolf teeth because the whole “wolf in sheep’s clothing” but also because i like it when prey animals are given predator features
i left the body as "human" because i only wanted the face to be censored… i considered clawed/darkened hands too but nah
skidad was originally going to be lined like ignacio, but i liked the lineless look for him so voila! makes it feel like he’s “not bound by anything”... actually, this is the same reasoning for the match to be “out” of the border, even though it’s ignacio’s hand
storyboards
i rarely storyboard (most are locked in my mind) but i figured it'd be fun to try!
halfway, i got bored of drawing digitally so i moved onto my notebook. i think it was a good decision; since i drew with my ink pen, it forced me to move on with my mistakes instead of clicking "clear canvas" lol
i had a pretty solid idea of what i wanted after weeks of listening to the song over and over again. the only thing that really changed was the mirror, which was replaced with a shadowy ignacio
the coloured thumbnails i actually did first, just to figure out out what i’m doing for the chorus part… limited palette my beloved
i didn't know where to put the text so i was scribbling everywhere lol
ratio changes
in the chorus, the ratio of ignacio and skidad’s frames changes! it’s more obvious if i combined them together, like this
less for ignacio, more for skidad
did you notice that the fire in this shot look like the cult ?!!! why did i do that, you ask? well:
the fire is the same “red”as the robe
too lazy to draw fire without abusing motion blur
mmm symbolism idk. it's somewhere there
it wasn’t in my plans but i’m happy i made the choice in the last minute. this was the last thing i needed to finish before syncing it up with the music
also this… i just wanted to point it out… make sure everyone knows... did you notice this? did you? did you did you? well now you do!!!
that's it !!! that's your trip into my mind!! okay byeeeee !!
#even though i gave my own reasons; i welcome any other interpretations!#/gen !! i'm very interested to hear! throw an ask or in the reblogs!#[ mourn's mourns ]#[ the art of mourning ]#spooky month ignacio#spooky month skidad#not apologising for the absolute chaos of my writing... its rambling for a reason........ /J LOL#i won't be free from skidad videos ough#but now im starting university so i guess they won't be out anytime soon HAHAHA#hope you enjoy reading this!

My Atlantis The Lost Empire Review!🗺️🪖💎🏺💣🛞🧭⚓🛟
I finally got the courage to do it! Yay!
First I'd just like to start out by saying AOAHSJDJDHFBJFJFJFJFIGJGJDKSOXJVJFJDJUVJFUFJFUGUGHFHFUDIDJDJFHFHFUFHFJ!!!!!!!!!
🤩🤩🤩
Okay, stimming done! I should note, I don't hold back in my reviews. I see something wrong? I can and WILL say it! Luckily, there's like, nothing wrong with this movie, so you won't hear much of that from me! Lol!🤣 This is first time doing this kinda thing. So I apologize for any errors or incorrect formatting.
Now, without further adu, the review! (Hey that rhymes!) Below the cut cus it's LOOOOOOOOOONG!!!! It's literally the longest post I've made. And there's SPOILERS! So beware!
Okay, I'm not even sure where to start cus this is one INSANE ride of a movie! I mean HOLY COW!!! IF ALL OF DISNEY'S MOVIES WERE THIS GOOD, I'D WATCH
EVERY
SINGLE
ONE.
I'm not even kidding. I don't know what I'm doing, so let's just start with the World building.
WORLD BUILDING
This movie ROCKS in the world building department. Everything is well rounded out and looks stunning. One of the things that I found most exciting was the fact that they made a WHOLE FRICKEN USEABLE LANGUAGE FOR THIS MOVIE!!!!!! They actually brought in a linguist to make it!!!! That's how committed they were!!! Do you hear about Disney doing this nowadays? NOOOOOOOOOOO!
Also, THE STEAMPUNK AESTHETIC.
LOOK AT THIS SUB!!!! LOOK AT IT!!!!!
It's so detailed and cool looking!!!! If I saw this in love action, I think I'd freak! How can steam powered vessel go below the crush depth?
I DON'T CARE!!! IT'S AWESOME!!! (I especially like that bubble in the front. How fun! I'd definitely be looking out of that thing all the time!) I heard people say that watched the scene with the Leviathan attacking the sub thought it looked so real, that some people who worked on army subs got FLASHBACKS!!! I'm not even kidding! Everything during those scenes felt so real and immersive! You can tell Disney did their home work!
Okay now Atlantis itself!
It feels like it's own culture. It's feels real. It doesn't feel or look like a lazy combination of two cultures. It's distinct and interesting looking. And the people are very unique in appearance too. With their blue eyes, white hair, and coppery brown skin. It's a beautiful combination. And their clothes are nice as well. Lots of bright colors. Mostly blues, purples, magentas, etc. Very beautiful.❤️
OH! OH! AND THEIR TECHNOLOGY!!!! Oh my gosh!!! That leviathan and those fish shaped flying machines?!! HECKIN RAD!!!! How are they made?!?? What are they made out of?!??? So many QUESTIONS!!!!!!
I especially love the use of crystals in the Atlantian technology. I actually studied stuff like that and from what I've found in my research, it was actually entirely possible that ancient civilizations, like Atlantis used Crystals in somes ways of energy. Which is amazing! I don't know if that's where they got inspiration. But I found it intriguing none the less!
And the Creatures were also cool! They felt almost alien or prehistoric in appearance! It was really cool. Some of the creatures looked like they came straight from Pandora from the movie Avatar! I'm a sucker for fantasy creatures and speculative biology. So I'd love to see If I could figure out everything about the ecosystem of Atlantis! To bad they didn't go into more detail about it, but the movie wasn't about the critters. Still, hats of to the crew for giving them such interesting designs!
Okay, Onto more stuff!
THE CHARACTERS
Milo. He's adorkable.
That's it. He's perfect. I love him.
Okay, lol. Actually I have a lot to say. They gave him SOOOOOOOOO much personality! He's dynamic and easy to read! He's allowed to push his expressions and be exaggerated! He's just so fun to watch! Big thumbs up to his animator(s). And look at those glasses! And that hair! Such a good character design! He's just so fun and loveable looking!❤️
And he's allowed to show a full range of emotions! I know this one sounds weird. But it drive me crazy when a character is only allowed to show one emotion and by completely defined by it. Like being sickingly happy go lucky, or dark and moody. It's like, that's all you're going to do with them? But Milo, goes through the full range of emotions in the movie. He's got excitement from going into the unknown. Sadness and grief from the loss of his grandpa and parents. Anger at Commander Rourke's betrayal and utter disregard for the Atlantian people's lives. He experiences everything and it all feels so relatable. He's just the best. I also love how enthusiastic and kind hearted he is. He has the heart of a hero despite his first impressions. And his cute crush on Kida is the best. He's such a goober. He needs to be considered a Disney Prince. He deserves it more than most.
✨KIDA.✨ Just KIDA.🤩
Kida is GORGEOUS. 🤩🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ LOOK AT HER DESIGN! IT ROCKS!!!! WHY THE HECK IS SHE NOT AN OFFICIAL DISNEY PRINCESS!?!??!? SHAME ON YOU DISNEY!!!! She has ALL the qualifications!!!!
She's strong! Mentally, emotionally, AND fricken physically!!! She cares deeply about her people and her culture!!!! She is ROYALTY. She is a WARRIOR!!! She is a QUEEN!!! If any of the "forgotten Disney Princesses" deserved the title of official princess, it HER! FORGET RAYA!!! You're telling me that the Disney heroin that taught people to trust their abusers, EVEN AFTER THEY'VE HURT THEM MULTIPLE TIMES and then GUILT TRIPS THEM, deserved the title of Disney Princess more than THIS WOMAN?!??! BULL! ABSOLUTE BULL! (Sorry for the rant. I have to refrain myself for going on a lecture about how Raya never deserved that title. She is my least favorite Disney princess. 😖👎 KIDA ALL THE WAY!!!!😄👍💕)
Oh, and her and Milo are the cutest couple. I heard people were upset because they didn't get a big kiss at the end. NO! They didn't kiss at the end of the movie! They didn't need to! They just FLIPPEN met!!! I wouldn't either! We're they still an adorable couple? HECK YES!!! They cared about each other and learned from each other and UGH! They so CUTE!!!!! And Milo gets to be King Consort of the Kingdom he spent his entire life searching for alongside his Queen who is also the woman he loves! How great an ending is that?! He knows they were both great rulers. You know it.
Commander Rourke. I hate this man.
I can't even find any good gifs of him. THAT'S HOW MUCH PEOPLE DESPISE HIM! Rourke is the DEVIL! Hidden under the guise of a good old American Army Commander! Which is why he is one of the BEST if not THE BEST Disney villains! He was about to let an entire lost civilization of people die, just because he wanted their LIFE FORCE!!! He definitely deserved to be transformed into a crystal creature then shattered. What a complete MONSTER!!!
I have to admit, I was actually already spoiled by the twist ending. I already knew about it from multiple sources. But somehow, that didn't matter! I watched it and I still felt connected to Rourke, even though I knew what was coming! It was so good! Rourke was written as the stereotypical brave army commander. Down to the last detail. Making a memorial for the lost crew mates. Being friendly with the main cast. Acting like a true gentleman. This is why he makes such a good villain. Nobody expects someone like him to be in league with the NAZIS of all things! Ultimately, he was an absolutely cruel and insane man, that nobody saw coming. It is probably the BEST twist villain I have EVER seen. Incredible writing. Wow.
Now, I'm not sure If I want to go through every single character. But I loved the all and definitely have thoughts on them, so I'm gonna speed run this.
Lieutenant Helga Katrina Sinclair. MA'AM??? Just what do you think you're doing in a kids movie?!!??
🤣 Okay, in all seriousness. She was actually a cool character. She was tough as nails, beautiful, confident. To bad she was that jerk Rourke's head lackey. I mean, she sort redeemed herself toward the end. But it was mostly because she was mad at Rourke for betraying her. Not because she cared about the Atlantis or Kida. Soooooooo... I don't know.🤔
Audrey Rocio Ramirez. LOVE HER!!!!
Her backstory his incredible. Her dad wanted sons. He got two daughters. Audrey and her sister. But you know what? That didn't stop them! He wanted someone to run the garage with him? HE GOT IT! And she's good too! I also love the little detail in her backstory that says her sister is a literal heavy weight boxing champion. You go girl! Show'm what's up! I wish they had given her a name. (I'm gonna give her the name Rosa. That feels right.)
Wilhelmina Bertha Packard. Honestly the most relatable character in the movie.😂 This one gif pretty much sums it up for me.
Somehow, I feel like me and old Mrs. Packard would get along just fine.🤣
Vincenzo "Vinny" Santorini. I'm not sure whether he's crazy or just like explosives a whole lot. Lol.
I actually thought he was Russian the first time I saw him. It wasn't until I found out he was Italian that I realized I made a horrible mistake in identifying his accent. 😂 His almost always neutral expression is helirious. I guess once you've blow up a lot of stuff, nothing phases you. Haha!
Dr. Joshua Strongbear Sweet. *Squeees*
As someone who has Native American ancestry, (my grandfather is Apache,) I was SO excited to see a someone who is half Native American in this film! I mean, half Black and half Native American?! That's INCREDIBLE! I can safely say I've never seen that type of representation in a film before. And he's also one of my favorite characters.
Gaetan "Mole" Molière. This dude is WEIRD... And of course I love him. Haha!
"You have disturbed the dirt." - Mole
I was laughing so hard when I first saw this guy come on screen. He's so dramatic! But he's french, so I guess that fits.
Jebidiah Allardyce "Cookie" Farnsworth. He said this.👇
That's one of the best lines in the film. ☝️😂 But seriously, what can I say? Crazy southern chuckwagon cook with as many unhinged stories as he has pounds of bacon grease. How could I not love him? 😂❤️ One thing I wondered was if this was such a high budget expedition, why couldn't they get like a five star chef instead? NOT THAT I'D WANT THAT BESIDES COOKIE!!! I'd be so mad if they replaced him. I was just curious. But I'm not gonna question it. He's the best and I love him. No five star chef could ever top Cookie.
Kashekim Nedakh i.e The King of Atlantis! WOW.
LEONARD NIMOY?!!?!?? That was pretty much my reaction when I found out who played Kida's father. Who would have guessed that Spock would end up playing a king from a lost empire?! The crew that worked on this movie said that while he was in the recording both, they were stunned. He put his whole heart into the role. They felt like the king was standing there in the room with them! And I FELT that. He sounded just so real! It actually sounded like I was listening to a real ancient king speaking. He was amazing for the role. I'm floored.
THE STORY
The story was amazing. I got a lot of Jules Vern Journey to The Center of The Earth vibes. It was clearly inspired by it.
Milo felt very much like the Axel of the story. Despite being much braver then him. The whole thing felt so cinematic and thrilling! Me and my family were either screaming with excitement or laughing super hard the whole way though.
As the for the moral? Well, it's actually kinda hard to pinpoint exactly. But I think that because unlike other movies, it lets the story show the moral instead of the characters telling us directly.
I would say it shows what happens when people value money and power over human life. Which is important in the time we live in. And that people's culture should be respected.
In all. A very good movie and I highly recommend it. It's a fun, bold, thrilling adventure that you will love.
✨Thanks for reading my review! Bye!✨

exclusive fairytale review (not biased) (but i also watched this because of jun and for jun only)
i just want to start this off by saying i was not jun-biased before watching this but i definitely am after 🤠
^ accurate representation of my reaction every time jun appeared on screen (as both jun & lingchao)
the storyline is extremely cliché. like if you cannot handle cringe and predictable dialogue, you will hate this. the fmc is the epitome of cringe and the mmc is the typical "i hate everyone in the world but you". it's cute sometimes but also gets boring real quick.
there are also multiple tropes involved which sometimes got a bit too much because it felt like they were just trying to shove in as many fictional concepts as possible. tropes include enemies-to-lovers, childhood friends-to-lovers, love triangle, only one bed, grumpy + sunshine (there are probably more but i cannot recall them rn).
that being said, despite the fmc & mmc being pretty basic characters in a rom-com, i adored them. they complemented each other's energies so well and it somehow... works? despite them practically being siblings the first half of the show?
the pacing of the show is a bit odd. they spend a lot of time during the high school phase then there's a bit of a time skip to fmc's time in college. she goes through like one year of university then she's an intern for a while. she becomes a full-fledged adult and suddenly she's engaged and married. i found the last few episodes (20 onwards) to be a bit abrupt. there was also this super weird part where fmc wakes up and has amnesia and forgot she has been engaged for the past 3 years? what the hell was that about... speaking of which, there is a lot of "telling, not showing" in the last episodes which i found annoying. it's such a lazy way of storytelling.
okay the lead actors. look, as much as i love jun, my guy looks exhausted half the time. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. i'll give him a chance because i know it's his first huge acting gig as one of the leads.
as for the actor for the fmc (i don’t know what’s her name rn), she's great. she brings innocent childish joy to a character in a surprisingly accurate way. she was also not embarrassing which i appreciate.
okay but you combine them together and it's a little bit of a disaster. they're good when they have lines and they're bantering with each other and being silly with one another but when it comes to the intimate scenes, it just feels so fucking awkward. i'm sorry but jun is eating her face out and she's kind of just... there. i get that her character is supposed to be quirky & innocent but even when she's supposedly ~into~ it, my girl just does not look like she knows what to do. and the waist pulls just feels incredibly awkward. i think jun is doing too much and she is doing too little. idk. everything about them being intimate just feels awkward to me (and no it is not because they were initially siblings).
also i just wanna talk about the other romantic relationship going on in the show which is jia siwen and jiang juanjuan's relationship. i feel like the writers were trying to make their relationship the type where the audience would root for them but i felt that they were not a good match lol. jiang juanjuan finds fault in jia siwen over the smallest things—like why the fuck are you mad at your boyfriend for not texting you for TWO DAYS when you KNOW he's going to be in the fucking mountains, most probably with no signal, during that period. i get that it's your birthday in that time period but it's not that big a deal, especially since you know he might not be able to contact you during that period. i'm sorry, this girl infuriates me. she only got a pass because she's just a fangirl like me 😔
overall, i like the show. it's not my favourite rom-com but it definitely did it's job of being both rom and com. if you like jun, or just seventeen in general, watch this. trust, even if jun is not in your bias line or a bias wrecker or bias whatever, you will be a jun stan after watching this. if you're a casual rom-com watcher, this would probably be like every other rom-com so don't have too high hopes about it. this is definitely not a cinematic masterpiece but it did make me happy watching it.

How do you come up with your names and designs, I need help coming up with better names.
names are usually based off of appearance, family members, personality or just words that i like! with appearance, i usually use names of animals or plants. rosytiger got their name because of their reddish fur and tabby markings. batmane was named after their, well, mane, and the fact theyre blind (like a bat). doeflutter was named after their deer like spots and the word "flutter" reminds me of fluttershy from mlp, who shares a similar-ish yellow colour to doeflutter. glisteningscale is named after their light (glistening) scale-like markings. family members is a bit different as i haven't done a cat named after one for a while. closest one i've gotten to was snowwatcher being named after skywatcher! when i name cats after their parents family i usually just look at their immediate family on the warriors wiki and pick out a prefix/suffix i think fits and when it comes to personality, goslingdash and spiderspinner work as examples. in my drawing for goslingdash, they're fiesty and running around, which fits the suffix "dash". spiderspinner on the other hand was partially named after the fact theyre meant to be a med cat, and i just thought it sounded cool. spiders spin webs, and med cats use those webs to heal cats! idk if that makes sense, but it makes sense in my head it's hard to explain my thought process, i apologize, but when you do this many hypokits, it gets kinda easy, lol! i also try to make my names as creative as i possibly can, avoiding prefixes & suffixes used alot in canon. ESPECIALLY when it comes to suffixes. pelt... fur... tail... claw... EW!!!!!
a good way to find cool words (especially action words) that are cooler is literally just to look up "other ways to say {word}" or "{word} synonyms" are there'll probably be SOMETHING interesting! and if i get REALLY desparate, i go and find a warrior cats name generator (usually my own) and just mess around with it for a while and see if anything fun pops up! when it comes to designs, well, that ones WAY harder to explain. OBVIOUSLY i reference the parents, but i always try to add a little spin. when i used to do hypokits, i'd directly refernce my designs for the parents, but nowadays i'm way too lazy to do that and either refrence how i see the character in my head (since ive drawn all the characters i have a pretty good idea for how most of them look unless its a horrendously obscure character) or look them up on the wiki. i look at the parents patterning. okay, they're both tabbies. their kit will be a tabby too. a tortie and some sort of spots? okay, a very veyr very spotty tortie. i don't think this is how it works in real life, but i dont care!!!! lol :] i also try to combine the colours of the parents. on spiderspinner, rainwhisker is grey while squilf is dark ginger. okay, dark-ish greyish ginger. doeflutter? combine daisy's yellow with whitetail's even lighter markings (or at least thats how i think she looks)
if i'm working on a hypokit that i know is a duplicate (aka ive drawn a hypokit of this ship before), occasionally i'll refernce the parent's parent's colours + markings! ex: if it's a squilf ship, maybe ill take sandstorms pale yellow. honestly, i can't really help with design. my best advice is try to have as much fun as you can. also, pick the name AFTER you design the character! or at least while you're designing them, don't do it beforehand. it's much more restricting and can take some of the fun away! have fun, be creative!

Now we have to know... who's your top five favorite characters in the game? 👀✨️
Hi, Ven!! Always happy to see you in my inbox! 🤗
Hm...overall, I don't dislike any of the characters. I don't have any that I hate, mostly I feel indifferently to them, but I can get the appeal kind of thing. For the most part, I think I favor the side characters more over the brothers. Although, I think with my top faves, it's glaringly obvious I have a type, hehe...
So, for starters, and to absolutely no surprise, Solomon's number one on my list! I am unequivocally in love with that man, oh my god. Now, I'm not exactly sure what triggered my love for him, as I didn't start out a Solomon lover (I was a Luci girl, go figure). I think it was a hazy combination of his Up on the Pole card art, his Left 4 Cyber card art, the moment during that same event (cyber) where he was sweet to Luke by letting him have the flag, or the many takes and fics of him I was reading at the time. And now look where we are! I think I also see a lot of myself in him, so in a way, I've bonded with him in my mind, hehe.
Onto my second, and as you now know, I'd say Barbatos is second! Genuinely, I have no idea where this came from, but I'm not complaining. He's always fascinated me in some way, but I suppose I got caught up in other characters when I started out and he just got lost in the sea of the others... Sorry, Barbie :( I've always loved the fact that he liked baking, I just think that's neat! Also, I love that he's into metal. That's super cool! Thinking of it now, that might've been the catalyst (totally didn't make a playlist because of this, no...). Anyways, I have a lot to learn about him still, but he's certainly a new muse for me to marvel over.
I think for third I'm going to put Satan here. Satan was second, but, well...things happen. Out of the brothers, he's definitely my favorite. I like his (usually) calm, no-nonsense attitude, but I also love that he's such a silly guy at the same time. He's just fascinating to me. And ugh, I love his dynamic with Solomon! I'm always excited to see the Cat chat appear with a new message or a lesson/story that involves just those two. They're such silly gooses.
Fourth, oh goodness. I've been thinking over who I want to place here, and I think I'll put...um, (still indecisive) Thirteen here? Yeah, that feels right. So, to be fair, I'm still getting to know her character, but she intrigues me, to say the least. She's just so pretty and mischievous and gothic and sweet and...what? That one lesson in NB (too lazy to find which one) where she and the MC are practically on a date? I was grinning so hard reading that. So cute!
Alrighty, last, but not least, Simeon's fifth! If not for Thirteen, he'd be fourth and Lucifer fifth, but this is what it's come down to. Simeon's always been a favorite from the beginning, but he never had a set spot in my mind. Sometimes he was third, others fourth, maybe second until I put Satan as my second. But he's always been there, lol. I like his gentle personality and I love how sassy he can be, and that wrathful streak of his when it comes out on occasion. Also, I find his struggles with tech hilarious, poor guy. I can relate on some occasions.
For the most part, I think I'm into the mysterious, stoic characters. There's something about them that just...draw me in. Whether it's some inherent want to know them on an intimate level, so to speak, or that I am just that into the mysticism and find it endearing, who's to say.
#sorry it took me a moment to respond i wanted to get my ducks in a row lol#but thank you for the ask this was super fun to delve into!#wish i spoke more on solomon but lord knows if i did i'd never stop#trying to keep these short and sweet since i tend to ramble if i'm let loose lol#jo's thoughts#blood moon mail

When I first watch the anime I didn't mind the Jotaro ost since in general I don't care about ost usage but now that you mentioned it reeks of fanboyism . I know Jotaro is a symbol for the series but ffs this wasn't his part ,it was about the bonds between the part 6 cast . There should have been a whole new ost together ,maybe a combination between Jolyne+Weather themes since that was what the moment was about . They either got lazy and were searching for excuses or just wanted to shoehorn Joot in there once more .I wouldn't have mind if it wasn't the fandom's overall treatmemt of stone ocean too .Always making everything about the part about him .Sorry for my rant .
See, I definitely don't have a problem with some tracks carrying over from previous parts. It's not even the first time this has happened! "Hidden Feelings" which originated from Phantom Blood's soundtrack appears in Stardust Crusaders, for example. And themes from previous parts getting an adaptation for another part has also been done before, and hilariously with the contested theme in question, Jotaro's. His SDC theme got a more part-appropriate revamp, that matched the tone and style with Diamond is Unbreakable (the track is called "The Stardust Man Appears"). It's never used for other characters besides Jotaro, and only where it works with the scene at hand. This is all very cool! Intentionally selecting or reworking tracks can create a strong through line, and Stone Ocean should be no different.
What makes this especially aggravating regarding the final Emporio versus Pucci fight is not only that they chose Jotaro's theme to placate viewers, but that it's the unchanged, original SDC version of the song. So it's more bombastic, confident, no-fucks-given style, which gelled well with Jotaro laying a final beatdown on whatever Stand User he was fighting in SDC, feels so tonally incoherent to this scared kid cornered by the big bad with a divinity complex, who lost the few people he ever grew close to, in a different universe, in his first fight ever, desperately pulling a victory from the sacrifice/deaths of his friends, and clearly uncaring about what happens to himself afterwards as the second universe collapses in on itself after pummeling Pucci into a fine red paste. Like. How the fuck does that jazzy song with a strumming base guitar pumping up the audience make any narrative sense???
This is so much insult to injury too, because the original songs composed for Stone Ocean, from what we can hear in the anime itself, are really good! But that's the catch: no official soundtrack has yet to be announced, let alone released! So we haven't gotten a chance to really appreciate the few new tracks created for this part because, oops, you have to listen to it via the show itself (and bless the fans who attempt to extract the music from the show, but the quality understandably takes a hit). And the saddest part? It's clear that there aren't that many new songs, or at least it doesn't feel that way given how many reused tracks I could recognize from previous parts (mostly part 3, some part 1).
But getting back to the rest of your ask (sorry, I clearly have Feelings™ about this, lol), yeah, I get that Jotaro is often treated as The Jojo for the series, or at least the original universe. Which is. Eh. I get it, but that's never felt accurate to the generational aspect that sustains Jojo's enduring longevity. And I love Joot! I do. But second only to that specific segment of the SBR fandom's dudebro diehards who think all other parts are trash, SDC fans truly think that every part, including parts 4-6, exist in service of part 3. And so this use of the track incidentally or otherwise seems to echo this perspective.
The fact that there are people who legitimately think Jotaro is actually the main character (or at least the deuteragonist) in Stone Ocean is peak embarassing. But then you get the final battle using his theme. Cool. Because this victory was Jotaro's, right? It was actually a Jotaro versus Dio fight, part 2 electricboogaloo, yeah? Fuckin' 🙄🙄🙄🙄
I love the idea of a combined Jolyne and Weather theme! Hell, does Emporio even have his own theme?? That would have worked well too, or at least incorporate some notes in there. But alas.
I do chalk a lot of this up to the combination of budget issues, budget constraints, COVID, Netflix, the absolute shitcanning that the animation industry is suffering around the world, and that little dash of SDC favouritism for how this turned out overall. I really don't want to disparage the great work the David Productions crew has done to finally make a Stone Ocean adaptation a reality, particularly when we look at the hurdles it took to get here. I appreciate it so much. Part 6 really does get thrown in the trash by damn near everyone (and having a rather flawed but still enjoyable adaptation has helped people to discover and appreciate this part of the saga, which is a win). But I'm not going to act as though critique is unwarranted. There are a lot of issues, and the music choices are one of them.
Total aside, but I gotta give it to them that at least the two opening songs are absolutely fantastic, and the choice of Duffy's "Distant Dreamer", which I know Araki is responsible for choosing, hits the themes of finding new life and seeing hope and struggle in stride.
Anyway, thanks for the ask! Honestly I appreciated reading the rant, and getting to vent even more on my end.

Head Start at Birth - Ch. 21-30
The mediocrity continues! I feel like I've read newspaper funnies with higher stakes than this plot. Nothing bad ever really happens to the main characters and they always look/act pristine. The character writing is giving Mary Sue/Gary Stu vibes. I wonder if I would like this back in middle school or if I'd have enough brain cells to recognize its blandness?
Ch. 21
Lilia figures out a way to use magic without any magic energy (thanks to Toma). So now she's fulfilled her goal of allowing Elrich to use magic.
I'm not really emotionally invested at all at this point btw. Everything is so bland (especially Elrich who is just like "perfect boyfriend") that how could I be?
Ch. 22
It feels kind of lazy that the bird gets a cool human form and the dragon just gets to be blue!Lilia :/
More random plot happenings...this time the King is under attack and they're asking Lilia to help. Again with the "chosen one" BS.
Ch. 23
I feel like they totally ripped off the "butler attacks with steak knives" thing from Black Butler. Can't get nothin' past a veteran weeb!
Weirdly I feel like this manga could benefit from more characters. Yeslar and Reslar (Lilia's dragon and bird companions) get way too much screentime. They're so boring lol
Ch. 24
Just when I complain about Lilia's spirits they introduce...even more spirits! Why did they just reveal that Toma had spirits outta nowhere like that?
Reslar freaking out at the faerie seemed a little overblown and out of character (what little character Reslar has). I think Lilia and Elrich should have scolded her instead of just distracting her :/
Ch. 25
I gotta admit, the Sage title is pretty badass. And it looks like she gets access to some fancy library/archive? Hell yeah.
I had the though of "instead of pursuing the invention of the camera via magic why doesn't she just try recreating the non-magical engineering it takes to develop a camera?" But then I was like...wait...I have no idea how a camera works. Also, she was just an otaku in her previous life so she wouldn't have that knowledge either.
Elrich seemed low key jealous that his fiance is more impressive than him. Hopefully those feelings don't turn ugly. (Who am I kidding? This manga has no stakes whatsoever).
Lilia's new ribbons are suuuper cute. As I've said before, this manga at least has eye candy if nothing else.
Ch. 26
Can't decide if this chapter was wholesome or creepy. All these old men freaking out over Lilia with grandfatherly love. I guess it's just not a dynamic you see very often lol
Again we have the whole "MC is the super special chosen one who is smarter than everyone in their new world" vibes 😑
While I relate to Lilia being somewhat introverted, I do think she could have been a little nicer to the sages after they invited her so many times. It also felt weird to me that she didn't have the "wait, maybe this could further my research" revelation sooner.
Ch. 27
The age gap relationship stuff combined with the ultra girly aesthetic is kinda giving me UsagixMamoru from Sailor Moon. Not saying that makes it okay, just that this is pretty common with shoujo I guess.
"I like to carry you" is creepy (AKA she's so young you can carry her, dude >:/) but also...I wish I could be carried places lol. Seems really nice.
Lilia's "I should rely on others more" revelation is good, especially since it goes against the aforementioned "OP MC is better than everyone" vibes. I much rather her see her working with the community than just dominating everyone.
Ch. 28
Woah this one was so short? (Yet it cost the same amount, go figure -_-)
I almost thought there was another time skip since Isaac looked so mature, but nope! Zac is a cool nickname for the name Isaac
Suuuuper contrived miscommunication cliche -sigh- weak
Ch. 29
Okay, not gonna lie, that was pretty romantic. She's still too young to be smooching him though lol. (The "become my family" line got me. I'm a sucker for that sort of thing 😭)
Lilia unlocks some kind of new teleport power and they make it all ominous for whatever reason?
King is sus. I wonder if he's going to try and swoop in and have someone else marry Lilia?
Ch. 30
I was completely wrong about the king, they just keep doing these ominous cliff hangers that amount to nothing. It's pretty frustrating.
Lol back to this manga being absolutely zero stakes. They threatened to take Elrich away but were then like "sike, he doesn't have to go!" This is very "makes it easy" story telling.
They had a "The End" fake out...wish it was real.
The writing keeps pointing out how young Lilia is and how it's weird she's engaged to be married (actually married as of this chapter). If you think it's so weird, why did you write it!? No one is forcing you to write about a married 9 year old! -sigh-

hi ayushi, sorry i am too lazy to open discord, and i reckon you probably need a longer space to elaborate on this hehe. just wondering since mimi's name is always written in katakana (ミミ), do you have any preference if her name is written in kanji? i saw the chinese transliteration write her name with 美美 and i believe these are also the kanji of beauty (cmiiw), but i understand that a japanese name can be written in various kanji depending on the meaning you want.
since you can comprehend japanese and also one of the biggest fans of mimi i know, perhaps you have a view on this? have a nice day! 💚
Hi Sky, sorry if the reply is late, the ask got buried in notifications on the app and I only just got the chance to log in from the browser 🫠
Wow I'm so touched...honoured(?) lol that you'd ask me this, honestly it's difficult to come up with a completely objective answer for this, but I'll still try my best!
So first off, the reason behind many people writing their names in katakana is simple, it's because the name doesn't have its roots in Japanese. But this is too much of a blanket statement since we already know (especially in case of Digimon) that names that have originated in Japanese are also written in katakana, namely - Yamato, Takeru and Hikari. In TakaIshi brothers case, it can be argued that they probably have some foreign blood in them (based on their and Natsuko's appearance) but the catch here is that Natsuko's name is always written in kanji on all source materials and likewise for Hiroaki. Which brings us to another popular reason for why many names are written in katakana, simply because it's considered trendy. This would also explain why Hikari's name is written as such, since Taichi's name is written as it is in kanji.
In Mimi's case we can easily assume that katakana was picked due to the trend surrounding it, because Satoe and Keisuke seem like the people who would go for such a reason lol. But if you go on all these Japanese naming websites, they'll show you a bunch of kanji combinations that are read as "mi" when being used for a name, but most of them are duds and don't really show up on actual Japanese naming dictionaries. There are still a lot of other anime characters named Mimi, and while most of them also use katakana or hiragana or sometimes the literal meaning which is "耳/ear", one of the more prevalent kanjis used for some characters is "美々" where "美" also denotes beauty and"々" is used to denote the repetition of the character, so this ends up being the same as the Chinese version.
Personally, I can think of many reasons why her name is written katakana, maybe Satoe wanted a cute sounding and trendy name so she picked out the katakana instead of kanji, maybe Keisuke knew early on in his career that he might get posted in different countries so he wanted his daughter to have an easy to pronounce and foreignly common name so she'd fit in well no matter where they end up living (Mimi is common name/nickname in India as well!). Or maybe she really was born on "mimi no hi = 3/3" and Satoe and Keisuke found that funny and picked it as her name.
Imho, I prefer her name in katakana and wouldn't necessarily try to assign a kanji to it. Since from what I know coming up with kanjis for a name is a very personal act, so I couldn't try to denote my own interpretation to Mimi's name when she is not my original character. 🫣
(and on a totally unrelated note, I was watching a Twice live for Scarlet Whitening and picked up on a few Indonesian words 🤣 Santai and Gaskeun are my two new favourite words 🤭)
#answered#digimon#mimi tachikawa#absolutely no one : .....#me: *whipping out my Digimon name thesis from the drafts*#i always found it odd that hikari and takeru which are such common names are written in katakana#their kanjis aren't even that tough#even mi's kanji is considered mid-grade level so why why why#and also so many other anime characters use the kanji for yamato instead of katakana so why why why#gotta do a deep dive into the mentality of the digidestined parents lol

Most of your fics absolutely destroyed me emotionally so, on my own risk, may I request #13 “You shouldn’t be this easy to carry" with Qui-Gon and padawan Obi-Wan? Thank you!
Ohhh I’m happy to write this one! Thank you! (Always pleased to hear I’ve emotionally wrecked innocent people lol)
From this various prompts list.
_
Qui-Gon descended the ramp of his ship with something less than his usual grace, his expression was rather sour. Other than that, he looked his usual self, untidy but comfortable and serene.
He waved to the attendant heading towards the ship, and bowed to a small mechanic droid that squeaked with excitement, ran in circles around him, and then darted off after the attendant.
Qui-Gon chuckled. He paused to take a deep breath, tasting the metallic scent of Coruscant on the air, but also the warm and familiar notes of the Temple, of home. It was good to be back. Tedious diplomatic assignments that ran well overtime were nothing worth dwelling on, especially when it was done alone.
“Master Jinn!” a warm voice called.
He turned his head and saw Shaak Ti walking towards him, a smile on her lovely face with its striking colors.
“Knight Ti,” he greeted her. “How are you?”
“I’m well,” she answered. “I’m just about to depart to Alderaan; it’s a royal wedding and I’m the token Jedi invitee,” she informed him, but there was no offense in her voice. Alderaan was well known to be genuinely welcoming, and had been more than courteous in their dealings with the Order for centuries on end.
“Enjoy it,” Qui-Gon advised her. “Weddings are rarely something you’d like to miss.”
“I will,” she promised. “Oh, is your Padawan around? I was hoping to catch him when he returned, he forgot to sign off on his departure notice and was scheduled for three shifts in the crèche, which he obviously missed.”
Qui-Gon’s head tilted to one side, and he frowned.
It was obvious that Shaak Ti believed that Obi-Wan had accompanied him on his mission, which had in fact been a solo assignment. The twenty-one-year-old Padawan had remained behind for class rotations.
And Obi-Wan had never missed... well, anything. He was notoriously early for everything, beyond punctual. It was almost annoying.
Perhaps he’d finally slipped into a belated teenage fit of laziness, or he’d fallen so behind on class work that he’d forgotten about the crèche. Both would be extremely out of character, but one instance of this in nearly nine years of training could perhaps be excused.
Shaak Ti was waiting for an answer.
“I’ll talk to him,” he promised, revealing nothing. “Thank you for letting me know. I had no idea.”
She waved it off. “These things happen. You have a good student on your hands; he’s easily forgiven.”
Qui-Gon smiled.
~
The door to their quarters opened for him with a casual wave of the hand. Jedi did not lock their doors often; privacy was an understood thing, something not casually breached. No Jedi would enter another’s rooms without first asking permission.
He wasn’t sure what he expected.
Obi-Wan in the common area, reading.
Or Obi-Wan out and about, somewhere off with some of his more trouble making friends. (Quinlan Vos.)
He was not expecting to find Obi-Wan huddled in the corner of their kitchenette, half-hidden in his cloak, knees drawn up under his chin, crying.
Obi-Wan saw him enter and flinched away, shuddering.
Qui-Gon stared.
The entire scene was so unexpected, so wrong, that for a full five seconds he simply stood there, unable to process it. Obi-Wan had buried his face in his knees and was attempting to stifle his tears, seemingly by holding his breath, which was only making him shake harder.
Qui-Gon jolted out of his paralysis and stepped nearer, dropping onto one knee, sensing that looming over his Padawan was not going to help.
“Padawan?” he asked cautiously.
Obi-Wan looked up reluctantly. His face was a sickly grey; his cheeks were bright red and his blue eyes were feverish. They darted around, seeming to fix on nothing.
“Obi-Wan,” the Master tried again, warily reaching out a hand and resting it on top of one of Obi-Wan’s, clenched around his knee.
Obi-Wan took a rattling breath, more tears spilling down his cheeks. “...What... day is it...?” he gasped.
Qui-Gon’s chest tightened with something close to terror. What in all the galaxy was going on here?
“It’s the 29th,” he said gently. “Taungsday. I returned a day late from my solo mission. Do you remember that?”
Obi-Wan’s tears had increased throughout the brief speech. “Y-yes.”
“All right,” said Qui-Gon, struggling to remain as calm and patient as possible. “All right. Can you tell me what’s wrong? Are you hurt?”
Obi-Wan shook his head, his expression crumbling. Suddenly he very much resembled the boy Qui-Gon had met on Bandomeer, uncertain and frightened, although even then he had not cried. This was different.
“Are you sure?” Qui-Gon pressed.
Obi-Wan nodded, strangling a loud sob by clapping one hand over his mouth. He said something, but of course it was impossible to understand behind his clamped fingers.
“What?” asked his Master.
“...so...stupid,” Obi-Wan burst out angrily through his tears. “I just... don’t feel well.”
“Don’t feel well?” Qui-Gon stared at his apprentice in confusion. “You’re sick? Obi-Wan, why didn’t you just go to the Halls?”
Obi-Wan shuddered. More tears slid down over his flushed cheeks. “I...I...I fell,” he said, sounding deeply uncertain. “I was working, and it was late, and I fell. I think I fell. I can’t walk. I can barely move. I don’t know how long it’s been—”
Qui-Gon was already moving, alarm ringing in his head like sirens. In two seconds he had Obi-Wan in his arms, cradled like a child, his head resting under Qui-Gon’s chin.
“You shouldn’t be this easy to carry,” he said tensely. “You haven’t had anything to eat or drink since you fell?”
“Some... some water,” Obi-Wan murmured. His skin was blazing hot against Qui-Gon’s, a sick and feverish heat. He had stopped crying — his tears seemed to have stemmed from a combination of confusion and shame, not pain — but he seemed on the verge of passing out. “I... I got some water... don’t remember when...”
“Stay awake,” Qui-Gon ordered. He was striding down the hallways, ignoring the few bystanders who watched them pass with bewilderment and concern. He did send a grateful nod to one young woman who raised her comm in her hand at him, asking a silent question, and at his gesture raised it to her lips and murmured ‘Tell the Healers that Master Jinn is bringing in his Padawan. Have someone ready.’
Obi-Wan murmured something vague.
“Stay awake,” insisted Qui-Gon. “Don’t fall asleep.”
Obi-Wan moaned but nodded, forcing his eyes to stay open. “I...I’m sorry.”
“You don’t need to apologize.” The words came out harsh and insincere in Qui-Gon’s urgency, and he realized it, because he dropped a swift kiss to the top of the fevered head in apology. Obi-Wan relaxed ever so slightly.
They arrived in the Halls of Healing and were immediately received by a Healer and his apprentice, who had Obi-Wan safely tucked in a bed and monitored in less than two minutes. Obi-Wan had closed his eyes against the bright light and seemed in danger of falling asleep again.
“Stay awake just a little longer, Padawan Kenobi,” the Healer instructed kindly. “I’m fairly sure of your diagnosis but I have to be more certain before I can administer treatment. Then you can sleep.”
“Yes, Healer,” rasped the young man.
Qui-Gon watched from the wall, his hands tucked deep in his sleeves to hide how they trembled. The shock of the last quarter hour was setting in, and he scrambled to keep his wits about him, worried about what this diagnosis might be. He still remembered Obi-Wan’s confusion about the day, his bewildered tears, and that memory was not going to be going away anytime soon.
He had been far too light in his arms.
Just how long had Obi-Wan been trapped in their rooms, unable to call for help and too confused to figure out a way around that? How long had he gone without eating and sleeping?
He found out.
An hour later, Obi-Wan was fast asleep, hooked up to an IV and blissfully pain-free due to a dose of pills he had managed to swallow. The Healer turned to Qui-Gon with a weary smile.
“You’re all right?” he asked.
“I’m fine. I’ve just returned from a mission, but I wasn’t hurt.”
“That’s good to know. I was asking about shock, however,” the Healer said gently. “I know this can’t have been a pleasant homecoming.”
Qui-Gon’s throat tightened, but he said nothing.
The Healer seemed to understand. “Obi-Wan has contracted a strain of the flu,” he explained, moving past the brief surge of emotion. “As you know, most strains of the flu are easily combated these days and many species have evolved or inoculated to the point where it’s hardly a concern. But sometimes the flu is stronger. In this case, it’s clear that it’s job was made easy. I don’t think Padawan Kenobi was eating or sleeping properly before the sickness began to set in. It would explain the severity of his malnutrition, and his confusion.”
Qui-Gon’s eyes flickered to the bed where Obi-Wan was sleeping, the fever still burning in his cheeks.
“...How long?” he asked.
“A few days at most,” the Healer said. “But I suspect it’s a habit that’s related to stress and overwork. Does Obi-Wan struggle with stress or insomnia?”
The Master hesitated a moment, opening his mouth to deny it, and then stopping to think better of it.
“...Maybe,” he admitted. The hesitation stung. Shouldn’t he know? “He’s very private with his habits when we’re in Temple. He prefers to study alone in his room, and we usually only manage to share one meal a day during his busier semesters, if that.”
The Healer nodded. He didn’t look or sound at all accusatory when he said, “That’s understandable. I’m going to suggest keeping a closer eye on that. Don’t force him out of his comfort zone, at least not right away, but make sure he understands that three square meals — or better yet, a light meal or snack every two or three hours — is expected of him. As is sleep.”
Qui-Gon nodded, his throat tightening again to the point of pain.
“Rest easy, Master Jinn,” said the Healer, briefly laying a supportive hand on the taller Jedi’s shoulder. “He’ll pull through this. The illness, and everything else. I believe it’s nothing more than a bad habit formed from good intentions. There are crueler demons out there.”
“Yes, I know,” said Qui-Gon. And he did know. One didn’t reach Jedi Mastery without learning the galaxy for what it was.
But he didn’t think he would ever quite move past the shock of today, of carrying his adult apprentice in his arms, sick to the point of tears and helplessness, and then discovering that he could possibly have prevented this if he had paid a little more attention to Obi-Wan’s work habits.
Well. They would, as the Healer said, overcome this.
Qui-Gon drew up a chair to the side of the bed, resolving to wait until Obi-Wan woke, and slowly reached out and set his hand next to his Padawan’s. After a moment, Obi-Wan stirred, and even in his sleep he gave a contented sigh and shifted his hand, his fingers searching blindly for his Master’s hand. Qui-Gon took it and held it tightly.
They had overcome so many things in nearly a decade together.
They could handle this.
And besides, Qui-Gon told himself, even after Obi-Wan was Knighted, he would always be here to watch his back.
He would never abandon Obi-Wan.

DSMP CLASSPECTS CUZ ITS 4/13 BABYYYY!!!!
I’ve seen some other people do these, and I thought I’d try my hand at it because sorting characters into things is like the most fun thing to do ever. I didn’t do all the characters, just a few of the ones I felt the most confident about (and some rapid fire ones at the end). This probably won’t make any sense if you don’t already understand classpects but I dont care so without further ado:
Dream - Knight of Heart: First off, Dream doesn’t get to have that many splinters and not have a heart aspects, secondly, I honestly feel like heart just fits him really well. Heart players are all about passion and the soul. Combine that with Knights who are notorious for hiding their true feelings behind a façade (or a mask lol) You get someone who pretends to be all logical, but is in reality ruled almost entirely by emotions.
Technoblade - Prince of Blood: There is no universe in which I don’t give Techno a blood aspect, while you could make an argument that breath would suit him much better, it just wouldn’t be right.
So I went for a middle ground. The Prince class always mirror their opposing aspect. (that's why Dirk was logical despite being a heart player, Eridan was nihilistic despite being a hope player, and Kurloz was calm despite being a rage player) So It would make sense that Techno, as a Prince of Blood would share so many characteristics with the Breath aspect. Plus deep down its pretty obvious that Techno does long for a sense of community and friendship, even if he sometimes has a pretty bad way of going about it.
Also, Prince of Blood literally translates to “One who destroys Unity” so.....
Tommy - Knight of Blood: Tommy may look like a Dave Strider kinnie, but hes got way more in common with Karkat. I don’t think this requires more explanation, but i’m a wordy bitch so I’m gonna keep going.
Blood has to do with bonds, attachments, unity, things like that, all of which are pretty much the core of Tommys whole character. And I’m going with knight because he puts up a front of an annoying raging child, but past the surface its clear he’s cares deeply for those around him.
Tubbo - Rouge of Void: Tubbo is a character study in avoidance. Time and time again we see him sweep very important things under the rug, usually to make things easier or more comfortable for others. He lets things go because he wants to be the bigger person, because he wants to be a forgiving person. This is token rouge behavior, using your own aspect to help others, he will forgive pretty major things, or avoid talking about major things because he doesn’t want to cause conflict. But at the end of the day, all rouges struggle with giving too much of themselves away, and will almost always reach their breaking point. Also, major Roxy Lalonde vibes what can I say.
Quackity - Witch of Mind: While I could go for the easy clap and say ‘oh, here's this morally ambiguous character that also happens to dabble in some occasional manipulation, lets go with thief’.... but I’m not that lazy. Plus I actually really like witch for him, witches are confident in their aspect and are always trying to test the bounds of it, and I think that works very well with Quackitys ambitious nature. He’s not evil, he’s cutthroat.
And as for his aspect... again I could have gone the easy route and given him light because of the obvious luck motif, but in my opinion, the luck motif is really ALL he’s got in common with light. Other than that, nothing else about him stands out to me as belonging to a light player. Mind on the other hand, I think works very well. Mind players are logically driven and great critical thinkers. They are usually several steps ahead, and if that's not Quackity I don’t know what is.
Here are some rapid fire ones that I’m less sure of either because I don’t care that much or I know next to nothing about their lore I just get ‘vibes’ from them
Sapnap: Knight for sure, not totally sure of what maybe life tho
Karl: Bard of Light
Philza: Mage (or maybe sylph) of Doom (or maybe life)
Wilbur: Mage of Time
Fundy: Seer of something, not sure of what
Bad: Definite Rage player, even with my limited knowledge of the Eggpire I’m pretty confidant on this one. Class I got nothing for tho.
Hannah: Witch of Life
Ranboo: Obvious Void player
Michael (not the pig): Seer of Doom seems a little too obvious but its all I got
George: I’m leaning towards Heir, maybe of Void
Aimsey: First clock says Sylph of Doom, could potentially change based on what he does moving forward.
Puffy: Also probably a Sylph (damn meddlers)
Boomer: Based on the like two things I know about them, I’m thinking Rouge of Light
Slime: Heir of Heart
#dsmp#dream smp#dsmp classpects#c!dream#dream#c!technoblade#technoblade#c!tommy#tommyinnit#c!tubbo#tubbo#c!quackity#quackity#I'm only tagging the ones I had a lot to say about#I have not taken an english class in two years and it shows#I will probably elaborate more on these later#okay that enough

Any director’s commentary or behind the scenes tidbits from recent chapters of CTB (or any of them)? Also, how does it feel to be the most genius writer alive
Most genius writer alive? Are you laying it on a little thick there, pal?
But yeah I got some prime director's commentary and behind the scenes stuff from the last chapter for you:
The flashback sequence was written and two days, which you can probably tell
You know that opening conversation where Warriors, Spirit, and Mask talk about rabbits? My original idea was that when Mask said that rabbits weren't real, Warriors would immediately agree with Spirit and tease Mask for thinking rabbits were fake. After Mask walked away, Warriors would turn to Spirit and be like 'lol nice job he really believed us there.' And Spirit would be like, 'wtf are you talking about???'
The flashback scene was originally going to go on longer, until Warriors found and rescued Zelda. This would have also allowed for a scene of Shigeo freaking out about having to kill people. I cut it for the sake of my sanity and for the fact that I feel like my point had been made sufficiently
I was torn between the soldier Spirit killed being a generic guy or Anders. Ended up going with the former since I had an even meaner idea for what to do with him
Moving onto the present day--
As many of you may remember, the octoball scene is in this story expressly because I accidentally wrote a line way back in chapter 6 that implied the existence of baseball and I was too lazy to change it
Speaking of which, did you notice Time's slip up? While pitching, he sang the same chant Shigeo used to annoy him when he was a child. Surely, this slip up isn't plot relevant...
In my original plan, the reader wasn't going to know Lincoln's name until this chapter where his relationship with Warriors was revealed. Why? Because I knew that making their names so similar would be a dead giveaway, so I wanted to obscure the reveal for as long as possible. However, when I wrote Lincoln's introduction in chapter 4, just referring to him as the Master Knight was clunky, and so I broke and revealed his name right away.
I was stuck on Linkle personality for a long time since I felt like I kept on making her too similar to Lana. What cracked the code for me so to speak was combining Lincoln's traits with Warriors. So Linkle has Warriors's flair for the dramatics and Lincoln's brutal honesty. The main difference between her and the rest of her family is that she does good recklessly while Warriors and Lincoln are far more methodical in their approach.
Speaking of personality, Lincoln is meant to be Warriors's direct foil. When creating his character, I asked myself what a Link-esque character who was competent at both navigating politics and being a hero would be like.
Lincoln being metaphorically a better hero than Warriors is referenced in a few other areas of the story, most notably in that he prevented a war himself. More subtly, one of the reasons Warriors thinks he's an incompetent hero is that he has no musical talent, which juxtapose with Lincoln being a musical prodigy
Remember how I complained that I spent three weeks on one scene? It was the scene where Lincoln, Warriors, and Time are arguing in Lincoln's office. I knew how important the scene was and over-hyped it in my mind.
There was a joke that I cut for being a little too weird, but I'll recount it now. Basically, while the Chain was eating dinner, someone was going to ask about Lincoln being Warriors's dad. This would have led to a joke about Warriors inheriting Lincoln's good looks, leading to the a scandalized argument demanding to know who among them had the hots for Warriors's dad. There would have been two main punchlines. The first one: Wild or Hyrule declaring that they respected Warriors too much to hit on his dad. The second, someone asking Time if he thought Lincoln was handsome since they were the closet in age, which would have made Time so mad that he would have shut down the argument, to which someone would say "he's avoiding the question."
Sky's speech was originally going to end with a direct confirmation that Sky is the origin of the Harkinian line. This is not in the story because I forgot, but this is also not a vital thing the plot will hinge on, and I might find a place to shove it in later.
The name Harkinian would have also been revealed to be derived from Sky's surname, which I have yet to decide is either Hark or Hawkin.
And finally and most obviously, the name Harkinian in a meta sense is from the CDI Zelda games, as it is the name of the King of Hyrule. This is to imply that Lincoln (and therefore Warriors and Linkle) are very distantly related to the royal family, so much so that it hardly counts anymore.
#this is long but these are all my fun facts#I had to keep them all to stuff mostly from this chapter because I have a lot to say about every chapter#and i don't want to be here all day#linked universe#linkeduniverse#lu#lu warriors#lu ctb#lu oc#lu linkle#lu sky#lu mask#lu spirit#ask#anonymous

Disco 4.07: ...But to Connect
Well, that was a terrible episode... JUST KIDDING LOL, I LOVED THIS ONE TOO.
Look, there’s plenty of bad-faith criticism of Discovery out there, and sadly too many good-faith bad takes, and way too much boring pissbaby whining—but there are also plenty of valid complaints to make about this show, and I’ve been making plenty of them myself, on this very blog, for three-and-a-half seasons.
The—let’s say “uneven”—quality to date isn’t exactly a surprise, given its clusterfuck of a production history; the well-documented turmoil and turnover in the writer’s room has had an obvious and undeniable impact on the quality of the narrative. (You could even say they’ve had a long road, getting from there to here.)
Everything about this show—the direction, production design, performances, editing, VFX, music—has always been better than the scripts, but it’s not like the scripts were entirely without potential. In fact, the sheer amount of unrealized potential has always been the most frustrating thing to me about Star Trek: Discovery.
Well, I guess I have to find a new most-frustrating thing (and experto credite, I will), because holy fucking shit, y’all… this is what I’ve been saying Disco could be. It’s still not flawless—and they’ve apparently ditched subtlety as thoroughly as they ditched the 23rd century—but I do. not. care. I’m getting one thousand percent more of what I want from this season than I got from the last three seasons combined, and don’t get me wrong—I liked Season 2, and I really liked Season 3—but Season 4 feels like a completely different show. A much, much, much better show.
Buckle up for mid-season spoilers:
Sorry Michael, but my cat Nora wouldn’t fuck with that little holo-toy either—based on her reaction to laser pointers, she needs something she can sink her teeth into—literally—once she catches it. If she can’t pretend to sever its spinal cord, my picky little princess is not interested.
I guess “The Measure of a Woman” would have been too on-the-nose as a title for this episode? Jokes aside, I like how they seem to be positioning Zora as a Data-esque character: the AI who’s a sweet, well-meaning nerd, who’s also still learning organic social graces. Also, the problem with her attaining sentience isn’t that she’ll turn malicious, or pursue her own inscrutable cyber-agenda, but that she loves the crew so much she’s making irrational choices to protect them? AAAAAAAAA 😭😭😭
It figures that Dr. Kovich—who wears glasses and a tie in the 32nd century like a full-time Ren Faire weirdo—also uses a QWERTY-ass-looking keyboard on his holo-computer.
And then he dropped his whole CV in that scene like Michelle Paradise is literally reading this blog? (Ha ha, but also… 🥺👉👈)
Cleveland Booker, I love you like only a lesbian can love a fictional man created by another lesbian, but could you please at least skim The Art of War like, once? If Species 10-C can harness the power of hypergiant stars to—I’m guessing here, based on the themes of this season—accidentally slap entire planets to pieces, there probably isn’t much you can accomplish against them with sheer brute force, my guy. I’m also thinking about the wasp nest on my garage 15 years ago that I was going to ignore until winter (out of laziness), and then one of them stung me on the ear while I was putting my bike away and those fuckers were gone by the weekend. If it’s really a five-minute solution, what’s to lose by asking “Why did you blow up my planet” real quick before trying to kick them in the nuts through subspace?
A real delight to have Phumzile Sitole back as Adira’s old boss, General Ndoye, and in a nifty little hat too! Jonathan Frakes, who directed her previous episode, said in an interview that she’d been planning to quit acting when she booked the gig, but she had such a great time on Disco that she decided to stick with it. So it’s extra wholesome to see her again! I especially loved every time someone proposed violence at the forum and the camera just cut to Ndoye silently nodding like “fuck yeah, blow stuff up.” 😂
President Rillak evaded my expectations once again when Michael suggested she had a personal stake in Earth rejoining the Federation, and instead of hiding behind a bland talking point, Rillak said quite candidly that she was both personally and politically invested. (And it turns out she’s got mommy issues too—take a drink!)
I frickin’ loved how Kovich insisted on… uh-oh, here it comes again… absolute candor when sorting out the issues between Zora and the crew. Emotional honesty: it’s not just a good idea, it’s an overarching narrative theme! (Plus: “We always mean well to ourselves, Captain. The problem is what that means for others.” Ooooof.)
I’m pretty sure that they mentioned Control more times in this episode than in the entirety of Season 3.
Gray and Adira standing up for Zora made me cry happy tears. Say what you will, but I think we’re in good hands with Gen ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha here.
The writers are lucky I don’t mind a little massive amount of didactic speechifying in my science fiction, because for real, I’ve read Peter Watts books that were less transparent about giving every single character an entire TED Talk about every relevant philosophical viewpoint on the table. (Blindsight is still my favourite vampire novel, btw.)
I’m glad nobody except Stamets in full Writer’s Devil’s Advocate mode really entertained Zora’s failsafe solution. “If you stop trusting me, just go ahead and summarily execute me” is uhhhh not really how we treat each other around here, Zora!
Just as I was starting to get sick of Tarka’s shit, he dropped his motive for attacking the DMA—stealing its power source to leave this universe entirely and find his “““friend”””—and Jesus did I ever pivot fast from “this chaotic-neutral mad scientist isn’t quite as endearing as he thinks he is” to just, like, sobbing in my kitchen. I’d say it hit me out of nowhere, but (a) the score reminded me of Jerry Goldsmith’s Star Trek: First Contact theme, one of my favourite pieces of Star Trek music, and (b) I’ve been 1,000 miles from the love of my life for 18 months now because of this fucking pandemic. Tarka might be the most relatable character on this show for me right now. If he’s telling the truth, I hope he gets what he wants—and if he was lying to manipulate Book, I hope Grudge eats his eyeballs.
Speaking of music, I’m pretty sure the theme that played during Paul and Michael’s overlapping speeches has appeared in this season already—I remember finding it unusual to hear so much non-diagetic piano in Star Trek—and maybe even where it changes into the main Disco theme and the woodwinds come in—but combined with the dialogue (or double monologue or whatever) this time around, it really, really hit me.
I did feel like Michael (and/or Rillak?) could have leaned harder on the point that, if first contact with Species 10-C did go awry, they could immediately deploy Tarka’s destructive solution anyway. I’m sure a lot of the pro-violence faction would have agreed that approaching 10-C with a carrot and a stick that big in their back pocket would be a logical move, right? (I know, I know, that’s not what this episode is about, but it was nagging at me the entire time.)
I guess the conflict over leaving Felix at the prison the other week was foreshadowing for Michael and Book being on opposite sides of the vote here. And once again, I’m pretty firmly on one of the sides—Michael’s, this time—but I also feel like I understand the other side, and how they got to their position both intellectually and emotionally, and even though I don’t agree with those conclusions, even though they make my heart feel heavy and sad… I can’t not respect it.
Also, shoutout to the realism of finding yourself on the other side of that kind of ideological gulf from someone you love. There are no good solutions there; the best you can do, I think, is be completely honest with each other and yourselves. And the worst part about Michael and Book’s situation is that they’re already doing that, and I think it’s already done everything it can. 💔 Additional shoutout to the face journeys of both Sonequa Martin-Green and David Ajala for making me feel like my heart got kicked in the stomach.
Anyway. It cracked me up when they established Zora’s personhood by locating her inner clip show device—so we know she’s at least as sentient as Riker, that’s a start. AND SHE’S JOINING STARFLEET??? THIS IS LIT-ER-AL-LY EVERYTHING I’VE EVER WANTED, OMFGGGG 😭😭😭😭😭😭
…though I guess that means Zora doesn’t need Gray as a permanent therapist, awwww. I can’t say I didn’t see it coming, and it’s a storyline that makes sense for him and Adira, but ohhhhh, that goodbye scene was bittersweet. (I’m glad they’ve figured out a way to write queer characters off this show without killing them, lmao.) And Adira knowing, before Gray even had to break it to them, what he wanted to do, and being whole-heartedly supportive and encouraging, was just unspeakably sweet. I’m like twice Adira’s age; how are they such a role model for me?
Another thing I wanted, never thought I’d get, and appear to be actually getting in spades? A genuine romance storyline with T’Rina and Saru! And according to his Ready Room interview, it was Doug Jones’s own idea? He picked up on some Sa’Rina ~vibes~ when he read the script—vibes that the writers apparently hadn’t put there on purpose—and mentioned them to Tara Rosling, who saw them too, and they played a little bit of tension in their Season 3 scenes… and then the writers picked it up for Season 4! I love that so, so much.
I seriously can’t stop laughing at the parallels between Book’s decision to go off with Tarka to destroy the DMA and—spoilers for the Netflix reboot of She-Ra, I guess?—Glimmer choosing to activate the Heart of Etheria at the end of that show’s Season 4. In both cases you have a good-hearted but impulsive character who’s suffered a profound loss and feels a responsibility to stop that from happening again… and tries to do so by unleashing a horrific and destructive power that they don’t understand and can’t control, endangering everyone’s lives and alienating their loved ones. (Also, in both cases, you have me yelling at my TV at 6:30 in the morning.)
Honestly, continuing to parallel Glimmer might be the best outcome for Book: spending the first half of Season 5 in a redemption arc apologizing to Michael (and Grudge) would be better than what feels much more likely for him right now: getting swatted out of space by Species 10-C like—well, like a wasp.
Sparkly princess feelings aside, the “installation” of the spore drive into Book’s programmable-matter interface was by far one of the coolest “oh shit, we’re in the future-future” moments that Disco 2.0 has done yet. More of that too, please. (Finally, my last @ for Book: if you don’t want people calling your ship a “floating bachelor pad,” the very least you could do is give it a NAME they could use instead.)
I wrote this about last year’s finale:
A lot of people were worried Vance was going to turn out to be evil, but I was more worried he was going to end up making a heroic sacrifice for (and/or inspired by) the Disco crew—and he sort of does, but it’s not his life he sacrifices, it’s peace with the Emerald Chain. If the only path to “survival” is as the fraudulently legitimizing façade of benevolence over a corrupt, capitalistic criminal empire, well… that’s the destruction of everything the Federation has ever stood for anyway.
And that’s, by my count, Star Trek: Discovery’s third consecutive season-ending reminder that our principles and ideals, our better natures, must inform every decision we make—every single one, in war and in peace—because a victory that costs you the ability to look at yourself in the mirror isn’t going to feel like a victory at all.
Well. Not only do they seem to be going 4-for-4 on this (profoundly important and perennially relevant) theme, this year they didn’t even wait for the season finale to have Michael Burnham make a big speech about it.
Does that put the back half of this season in uncharted thematic territory? I guess we have to wait five weeks (ughhhhh) to find out. But according to the trailer I saw after the credits, we’ll at least get to see Michael Burnham in some kind of civilian setting tossing around gambling chips like a total fucking badass… so who knows, it might even be worth the wait.

New anon, but I saw the last one and I have some thoughts. Specifically, I have been obsessing over ml for the last month or so, and I’ve only seen three episodes, and they were the three released before crocoduel. And you know what? I wasn’t that into it, it wasn’t bad it just wasn’t half as engaging as fanon and fanworks have been for me.
I’ve also done this with the Magicians, Supernatural, and a couple others. I think the reason that this works, for some people, is because it is a more familiar and in many ways, easier way to discover and become attached to new material and new characters. Fan writers and artists are coming from a place of love for their source material (no matter what issues they may have with it) and that bleeds out into their work. Time is spent developing the characters and their feelings, their relationships, in ways that canon so often can’t or isn’t allowed to, and reading that, it’s very easy to fall in love with new characters very quickly. There’s also common AUs and dynamics that make it much easier to start something new.
And also: comfort characters. So many fans find common ground with characters and further project onto them, particularly in fanfic. And because of that it’s often easier to identify with a fan’s interpretation of a character than it is to identify with the canon’s, since you have these more deeply explored feelings and relationships based on a combination of canon and the personal experiences of the fan writer. Also, with these kinds of fics it’s extremely emotionally affirming since for someone who doesn’t have much of any connection with the source material, it feels like the original, even if you’re reading a large body of work by a lot of different people. And I’m so used to fanfic as a substitute for the emotional work and character development that shows/movies/books don’t have room for or aren’t willing to get into, that approaching a fandom as it’s own original piece of media in a way, feels very comforting.
That’s my perspective on it anyways, and why I do this. I do think it is a good thing to engage with the canon to an extent, even if it’s just watching a few clips (how I found ml) but I also don’t think you need any real connection or knowledge of it to be deeply invested in the fandom. Sorry, this got very long.
you know, i totally get being on, like, the fringe of fandoms and interacting with fanon to an extent without a proper investment in canon (I have a couple fandoms like that), but i honestly just can't imagine becoming super invested in a fandom when I am not invested in the source material...maybe that's just a difference between you and me, idk.
but also, i gotta admit that i'm struggling a bit to understand the reason. you yourself pointed out that fan work is enjoyable because the creator's love for canon bleeds into it. and isn't that the reason that you would want to give canon a real chance? obviously there is fan content made out of spite lol (and sadly a fair amount in this fandom), but to me most fan content is like a love letter to canon. like, "i adore this thing so much that it inspired me to create and share with other people who adore it." and what better recommendation is there than that?? i would think people would wanna familiarize themselves with canon in order to better enjoy fanon(?)
i completely understand your point about fan content delving further into characterization and relationships where canon hasn't/can't, and that is such a big appeal of fanfic/fanart. but i don't feel like that's a reason to not engage with canon? on the contrary, i feel like you are missing something important in your understanding and appreciation of that wonderful exploration if you haven't experienced firsthand the foundation that canon set. and maybe that missing thing is just your personal interpretation of a character/dynamic.
for example, i could say, "adrien agreste is this, this, and this and he would do this but not this." and of course i will think im right because my characterization is always perfect 😌sakjdfaldjks but someone else might have a slightly different interpretation, and someone else will have another interpretation, and when you mush all those individual takes on a character together, you will get a good sense of who they are, but you still don't have the Original™️ to draw your own interpretation from. idk, to me it sounds like basing your opinion of chocolate ice cream on what other people are saying about it without ever trying it yourself? ajsldakljf maybe that's an oversimplification but i do think that without experiencing it for yourself, your understanding will always be kind of incomplete.
idk, i big agree with everything you said about why fan content is special, but everything that is a point in fanon's favor is not a knock on canon. to me fan content feels pretty inseparable from canon, so it just doesn't compute to me to take canon out of the equation? then we would have nothing.
i feel like it's almost kinda trendy nowadays to be like, "oh this show actually sucks lmao but the fanon and AUs are good." like it's shameful to actually...enjoy source material? 😭 i mean i completely understand that miraculous ladybug is not gonna be everyone's cup of tea and that's fine! but if you truly enjoy the fan content that much i encourage you to give canon a real shot. it's not that surprising to me that you watched 3 recent episodes and didn't vibe that much, since you haven't seen the 3 seasons of buildup that lead to them. miraculous has a neat way of tying a bunch of things together so if you aren't familiar with all of it, you're probably missing out.
personally my love for miraculous was kind of a slowburn at first. i only started watching the show because my sister and i made a deal that forced me to watch the first few eps lol. and i didn't really vibe either. but there must have been enough of a spark there for me to keep watching bc for some reason i did and the more i watched the more i fell in love with it until it became the thing that occupies my brain more than anything else. i started with canon and then got into fanon, but it could easily go the other way too. and if you're already invested in the story and characters, i have to imagine it would be much easier to push past the initial cringe of "this is a show about a couple of teen furries rated TV-Y7 on netflix" lol and give anything you don't vibe with the benefit of the doubt.
again, to be clear, i'm not trying to judge or gatekeep here! i'm just saying this because i genuinely LOVE miraculous. it's my favorite show. that's why i make things for it. that's why i have this blog. i want people to watch it. so maybe, pwetty pwease, try watching the show you like so much? 🥺👉👈
