regarding your refined crossover dr. do you have like the future "plot" of it scripted? and if so, would you feel comfortable to share it?

i am so sorry in advance for the absolute infodump coming your way. this is the part of our shifting journey where you find out i'm batshit crazy

so when i first shift, i'm gonna be about 15, and each season (except 3, which... well, you'll see) takes place over the course of about a year. you'll already see some immense canon divergence with the hexside houses and with hogwarts/demigods/shadowhunters existing and stuff, but there's also a school in the ribs of the titan that specializes in emperor's coven recruits- it's called "the house of the isles" but most people just call it the house. i can never remember if i've already posted about it or not lol

anyways, i work there as the silver soldier (i know i'm not original i know 💀) alongside hunter, or the golden guard. he's the head tutor there, and gives the kids general knowledge lessons while i do fighting lessons. this is where we meet micah and cass- they become important later.

i also attend missions with the golden guard when i'm not busy at hexside. i'm sort of like the cat of the emperor's coven- i come and go as i please and i don't love to do as i'm told. i stress hunter out a lot, but he recognizes me as an asset and eventually takes a liking to me. no one in the coven knows how old i am, including belos, who has never seen my face.

luz still has all her main character moment stuff, but because she and i are friends, i get in a lot of shit breaking people out of prison. including eda. many, many times. season one isn't really that special for me, i become friends with luz after she and amity become friends. i don't attend grom that year, so nothing happens there. things don't really pick up until after eda gets taken. i have no idea anything has happened until i waltz into work on friday and everything's gone to shit. i free eda, but she doesn't understand why, because literally no one knows i'm the silver soldier except hunter (which is a recent development) and my dad. the protest never happens because the petrification gets "called off" (eda escaped lol).

sometime between then and seperate tides, luz finds out it was me that freed eda. i explain i'm only in the coven at all for hunter's sake. she's like "what" and i explain that he's much, much younger than she thinks he is, and he needs protecting. she thinks i'm batshit crazy, but she keeps my secret.

i'm largely uninvolved in the plot again until any sport in a storm, where i join willow's flyer derby team. i recognize hunter and i call him out privately. he says he's on a mission for my dad and assumes i'm here for the same reason. i try my best not to sigh, because i sort of have an inkling that my dad is just keeping hunter busy (keep in mind they don't have a bad relationship in my DR prior to this, my dad just thinks hunter's kind of annoying lol). i don't say shit though because hunter will be like "you are sabatoging my mission!! treason!!" and it'll be a whole thing. besides, i know nothing bad will happen anyway, so i just kinda chill. hunter turns out to be a good player, and then he kidnaps everyone (me included for some reason? probably to conceal my identity).

everyone is highkey freaking out, but i know that my dad is literally just coming to pick us up, and most of my teammates will recognize my dad when he comes, so i'm super chill. hunter eventually calls me out and is like "i bet you're excited for the coven, huh?" and this is definitely how he finds out that i don't have a sigil. it's also how the entire flyer derby team finds out i'm a coven soldier 🤡

they're all pissed as hell at first, but i eventually explain the hunter situation and im like "yeah he thought he was gonna get murked if he didnt follow orders" and they're all appropriately horrified. they're still kinda miffed about me being a coven soldier but they'll get over it pretty fast (especially since willow is already talking to hunter online by the end of the night- they're just friends in my DR though, not dating). they also immediately bully me for being in love with hunter, which i deny like a lying liar who lies.

ah. hollow mind. i'm there for this one because i was hanging out with (read: babysitting) luz at the night market. i get sucked into the mindscape with hunter and luz and i witness all the TraumaTM. this is where the divergence starts- instead of hunter running off into the woods, i try to convince him to stay with me. he ends up at the owl house for a while (i stand by mom!eda and son!hunter but that's me pushing my own agenda) but over a long stretch of time he eventually gives in and does move in with me. my dad is fond of him, and my siblings get along with him, so everything's good anyway (also i was trying to get him to move in forever ago but i will DIE before admitting that). anyways the reason he moves in is because we start dating. not sure how i want that to happen yet. maybe i'll let it happen organically... 👀 probably not tho lol

Any favorite headcanons about Malec (as a couple or the individual people) (kinky or non-kinky) I like thinking that a good part of the reason Magnus invented the portal, is because he has an atrocious sense of direction, and he used to get lost a lot, before he could just teleport to where he needed to be. (I know they say in the show that he invented the portal together with Lydia's ancestor, but I personally think that Henry Branwell just helped him to make an anchored portal version for shadowhunter institutes to use, and that Magnus made portals for magic users that could be summoned without anchoring them in place way before then.)

For Alec, I don't actually have that many hcs. I do like to think that he has a secret sweet tooth, that he hides away out of some mistaken belief that it would make him come across as immature. (which Magnus cures him of over time, and that may involve eating chocolate sauce off his body.)

hmmm i mean that's a really broad question 🤔 for one i'm in the "they're neurodivergent kings" camp. autism/adhd solidarity. and we all know magnus is trans 😌

also i will see literally any character i relate to and go "oh is anyone gonna make that touch-starved?" and not wait for an answer so uhhhh Touch Starved Magnus. like. especially just like. god. i feel like for a long time magnus is used to mainly two types of touch: violent (aggressive, often painful, whether it's someone actively trying to kill him or just getting between people fighting or whatever) and sexual (not inherently bad, but there's a certain dynamic of wanting something from him, and the only positive touch he really gets outside of certain situations is like. through a certain lens, when he's being a certain way, especially because i feel like he's a big people-pleaser in bed, and can be a selfless lover to the point of like, it not being as good for him, you know?) that's not to say his friends never touch him, ever, but for one, being immortal, it's not like they meet up as often as mortal friends might, and two, several of them just aren't particularly touchy people and he never wanted to cross any boundaries with them . anyway what im saying is he needs hugs real bad :(

(alec provides said hugs, but also like. as he starts healing from all this past trauma and stuff he gets better at expressing these things to non-alec people as well so like!!! also with his friends!!! who may not have even known this was a problem because he's so good at hiding his own issues!!!)

also good call on the portal thing. both for henry and magnus being, ah, directionally challenged. he's insanely competent at like 99 percent of the things he does but bless him he's so bad at finding his way around. adhd king, i repeat

(and yes, henry helping out but getting all the credit. naturally. shadowhunters, amiright? not henry necessarily, but the people who gave him all the credit.)

oh dear me. gonna be sneaky and say the last hours trilogy by cassandra clare even though it's not yet finished idk if i would consider her my favourite author (idk who i would consider my favourite author) bc i really only read the shadowhunter chronicles from her so uh... yes. but the first two books in this trilogy are by far my favourite yet.

not a book, but the pjo/hoo series by rick riordan. i just wanna be whisked away again. also!! the guardians of ga'hoole series by kathryn lasky. i'm not sure if i want to read these 3 series' again because of nostalgia, because i miss those aspects of my childhood (which imo in my head is diff to nostalgia), or because i want to experience being immersed in those worlds again.

there is a battle inside my mind right now because i want to recommend entirety of the shadowhunter chronicles HAHA but not the main series (the mortal instruments)** so i will specifically rec the infernal devices and the last hours trilogies (to be read in that order) by cassandra clare! i feel that of all the series in the shadowhunter chronicles, those two trilogies are my favourite. they're set in uh. edwardian times, i think? late 1800s, early 1900s (the cast of TID become parents in TLH, whichrevolves around their children). i have a lot of feelings but i wont ramble bc this is already very long HAHA

i also want to rec SO MANY OTHERS FHDSVDHSHKVBSD oh dear me. on earth we're briefly gorgeous by ocean vuong (the writing is beautiful, idk if you've seen toff or i go on about it) and the left hand of darkness by ursula k. le guin (scifi fantasy (i think fantasy too? idk man); this was also a yr12 lit text AHHA it was a really good read itself, but then when we actualyl sat as a class and discussed all the themes it instantly vbecame one of my favs. i really wanna reread this one soon!!)

**okay this is just me trying to explain about the war in my head regarding tsc HAHA also if you're not familair w the books, the shadowhunter chronicles encompasses 5 series that take place at different times // i love the entire series and all the characters and while the mortal instruments isn't my favourite and i wouldn't recommend it, it stil makes for a good read so that you can... like, get the most out of all 5 series/the universe? all 5 series (one of which is unpublished, and another awaiting the final installment) are heavily interlinked and there are little easter egg-y things in the more modern day series (plural?? whats the plural of series) that link back to the trilogies that take place earlier on chronologically (????? idk if that makes sense).

ANYWAYS so while i highly recommend reading the infernal devices and the last hours (and if you're feeling spunky, read ghosts of the shadow market in between the two trilogies) i would recommend reading all 4 currently published series for the full experience HAHAHA oh dear me okay im gonna stop bc im getting too carried away 😭😭

edit: i'd been saying 'the dark artifices' instead of 'the last hours' 😭😭 if i missed one while editting, please know i mean the last hours and at no point in this answer did i intent to mention the dark artifices JAJDNSJJXND

giving TSC couples a Taylor Swift song that reminds me of them Pt. 1

ts has a lot of songs and the shadowhunters chronicles have a lot of couples so why not :)

1. Blackstairs (Emma and Julian): You Are In Love

Oh my god, backstairs is my absolute no.1 ship and it's only fair I give them one of my personal favorite ts songs. I feel throughout TDA Emma and Julian are figuring out and realizing how much they love each other and this song just fits so perfectly? for example the lyric "One night he wakes strange look on his face. Pauses, then says You're my best friend And you knew what it was, He is in love" AAA IT'S PERFECT?

2. Wessa (Will and Tessa): London Boy

I find it so hilarious that London Boy screams Wessa to me, The song is soft and kind of straightforward about falling in love. A lot of lyrics are about the girl (Tessa here) sort of falling in love with the guy (Will) as he shows her around London and ITS SUCH A CUTE SONG AND FITS THEM SO WELL. Especially the lyric "Like a child when our eyes meet, darling, I fancy you took me back to Highgate, met all of his best mates So I guess all the rumors are true You know I love a London boy" BECAUSE IT COULD BE TALKING ABOUT JEM BEING THE BEST MATE IM CRYING

3. Jessa (Jem and Tessa): Invisible String

We all know how heartbreaking Jessa's story is and THEM ENDING UP TOGETHER ALMOST A 100 YEARS LATER WAS WHAT WE ALL WERE WAITING FOR SO ITS ONLY FIT FOR THEM TO HAVE INVISIBLE STRING. The lyrics are too accurate it's scary, it's like Taylor wrote this for them. (joe and taylor? more like jem and tessa) "Time, wondrous time Gave me the blues and then purple-pink skies And it's cool, baby, with me And isn't it just so pretty to think All along there was some Invisible string Tying you to me?" IT'S TOO ACCURATE PLEASE

3. Herongraystair (Will, Jem, and Tessa): New Years Day

I'M SO INCREDIBLY SORRY BECAUSE THIS SONG IS SO SO SAD AND IT FITS TOO WELL BYE I'M CRYING. like the lyric "Please don't ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere" IS SO SO SO ACCURATE, will and tessa who loves jem and don't want to forget him after he becomes a silent brother, tessa who doesn't want to forget will after he passes THEN ITS EVEN MORE HEARTBREAKING BECAUSE TESSA WLL OUTLIVE JEM ONE DAY JUST LIKE SHE OUTLIVED WILL. There is this line in the clockwork princess epilogue (buckle up bitches) where tessa cries because she can't remember the exact shade of will's eyes and its too painful

5. Malec (Magnus and Alec): Paper Rings

This is genuinely funny to me because Magnus as we know loves shiny things and it's so in character for him to say "I like shiny things, but I'd marry you with paper rings" IT'S EVEN BETTER CONSIDERING THEY DO GET MARRIED?? also certain lines like "The moon is high like your friends were the night that we first met" BECAUSE TELL ME THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN, then the line "Kiss you once 'cause I know you had a long night (Oh!) Kiss you twice 'cause it's gonna be alright Three times 'cause you waited your whole life (One, two, one two three four!)" BECAUSE MAGNUS HAS BEEN WAITING HIS WHOLE LIFE FOR SOMEONE LIKE ALEC?? PLEASE I WILL BE PASSING AWAY NOW

6. Bridgewood (?) ( Anna and Ariadne): Betty

I really needed to include this because betty is such a gay song and it just fits them like a glove. like "You heard the rumors from Inez You can't believe a word she says" "But if I just showed up at your party Would you have me? Would you want me? Would you tell me to go straight to hell?" If the bullies from the academy beat Alastair for a whole year, why do they never physically harm the Merry Thieves? (Save for the demon incident with dumbass Clive)

Especially say Thomas? Who was unusually frail for a shadowhunter?

Why do I feel like it was racism? I mean it could be something to do with their families maybe? That there would be consequences for them, but also there was no consequences for the demon thing soooo

Did Alastair's method of verbal humiliation just make them laugh more so they didn't feel the need? Like WHAT is happening? Did they only beat up Alastair and no one else??

(Also why is no one angry with Eugenia for dating Augustus? He actively bullied them too, even insulting Tessa while staying in her home....James literally threw him into the Thames? Why is it never mentioned that the Thieves at least didn't approve? It sort of makes the "they hate Alastair more because he is actively in their life" theory lose some credibility?)

I don't mean this to sound rude or critical of the Merry Thieves, I mean it more as an inconsistency in CC writing

I feel like you've come to the right place for this because I partake in the hobby of overanalisis wayy too much (and am critical of the mt to a certain extent but fjfnnfnrmfnnf)

Now, this could all very well be CC not being consistent or maybe not thinking of certain plot points before she publiahed nbs and cls

But if we see it in canon context, it does keep the question, why do they hit Alastsir and not the merty thieves

In my opinion theres a simple answer

Merry thieves had power

Alastair did not

Yes the merry thieves were potrayed as "outcast" in the academy and were tormented verbally

But the merry thieves are also very much the sons of 3 of the most influencial families in london. If they contiously hit and phydically harmed them, do you think their parents would sit and do nothing?

You really want to deal with the Consul, head of the london institute perhaps

I do not claim verbal bullying has any lesser effect than physical (both can be extremly damaging). But verbal sure is a lot easier to hide, specially in theyre society

Where they dont really have any sense of mental health, which is the side verbal bullying affects. If shadowhunters dont believe in mental health ot wouldnt be such a hard thing to hide within the school itself. Meanwhile if they hurt any of them, thatd be a lot harder to cover up

They could get away with an incident, once. But if it happened again are you gonna be the one to deal with the consul?

They might have been outcast, but their families did have power

Now Alastair

Lets go by simple logic

If you see you do smth and you can get away with it

Why would you stop?

If they bullied Alastaor and got away with hitting him with no consequence

Why would they stop?

Alastair has no safetly net, maybe all they know about his father are through rumors of his fall of grace but if they harm Alastair and really nothing happens. No repricusions from his family, why would they see reason to stop picking on him?

Alastair was small, just out of a toxic family and very vulnurable. No one came for him when they first did it, neither the second. Because I dont think Alastair would write back, because what would he leave the academy for? To go back to Elias? Again? After this was his final chance

I do certainly believe racism did play a part of it to a certain degree. I feel this part (given the shadowhunter world building) would play more part into the verbal side of it

Cause heres a noy who doesnt look like them, doesnt speak like them (yes Alastair did not have a brittish accent, he developoed it in the acadeny fight me djjkfk) and will never be like them

Do you think the mundane kids working for assension wouldnt give him weird looks? Those raised in mundane society who are only used to seeing people like him as beggars or "my mama and papa told me we shouldnt trust them?"

Which adds in itself more reason to not write home, cause how does he tell his mother they dont trust him because of the culture she gave him?

This got way to long and idk if it makes sense but i've been thinking wayyyyy too much about it

ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok. so i think the saddest part about this is magnus' assumption that like... if he isn't useful, he isn't desirable. which we know is 100% how magnus rolls (therapy-needing icon) and would particularly ring true in raphael's case because like... magnus took raphael in when raphael was at his lowest. their relationship was started off by the fact that raphael needed him. and that makes it even harder for magnus to shake that feeling off

like, don't misquote me, it's not raphael's fault and that is not how he sees magnus at all. and i don't think magnus singlehandedly saved raphael or whatever; raphael had to build his own network of ppl and resources to get over his addiction and get back on his feet and build himself back together, as anyone does. no one can carry a burden as big as singlehandedly taking care of any one person, nevermind one in the state rapha was in. but the fact remains: raphael and magnus met when raphael was at his lowest, and they built their relationship because magnus helped him

and magnus knows raphael's got this whole repentance thing going on, he knows that raphael feels like a monster and a burden and like his debt to magnus is unmeasurable. and that makes him second-guess everything about their relationship, imo, because like... raphael probably feels like he has to keep magnus company, he has to do as he says or whatever, because he has a debt

and to some extent it's nice that magnus is like... aware of that imbalance, which is inherent to that situation, but then i think it becomes pretty much... being convinced that raphael doesn't like him and only puts up with him because he has to since he owes magnus

and when magnus "adopted" rapha, magnus was at a particular fragile point. i'm pretty sure rapha was the first person magnus ever let into his life, fully, enough to really know him and his insecurities and his true self, after camille. his other friends - catarina, dot, ragnor, elias - all knew him from before. and we know how after camille magnus locked his heart; yes, he was referring to romantic relationships, but when you are constantly afraid of falling in love with someone in case they will abuse you, you can't fully build platonic relationships either, because there is that wall that is there, a certain level of intimacy that you won't allow yourself

and with that i don't mean that romantic relationships are inherently more intimate or deeper than platonic ones! i mean that to build any sort of intimate relationship, romantic or platonic, you need to be able to allow yourself to be vulnerable, and magnus was obviously not allowing himself that, because he was scared of being vulnerable after it was used so viciously against him the last time he opened up his heart

but magnus is still too caring of a person to leave someone in a state as bad as raphael's - no sire, battling addiction, alone in the streets, probably no knowledge of the shadow world (this is probably where i should add my mandatory disclaimer that i'm not following book canon and i don't care how it went there, i'm talking about the show), no clan, no family, basically no one - alone, so of course he's gonna bring him in for a night and feed him and try to find a way to help him

but then you add to that two facts: 1- magnus is hopelessly affection and touch-starved and desperately needs company; 2- there is not many places raphael can actually go to

so of course magnus lets raphael stay. and it's for his own sake as much as it is for his, because again, magnus is starved, and he is at a point of his recovery where he needs to let people in, even if it's slowly and in a relatively safe situation - like, what can raphael do to hurt him? okay, there's a few things, but still. it's just easier to let yourself be vulnerable when the person you're allowing to see it is someone you've seen equally as or even more vulnerable. especially if they have no connections to people you know, as it is in rapha's case

PLUS, he empathises. i've said it before and i'll say it again, raphael and magnus have so much in common. from background (immigrants, brown, downworlders, one is bi the other is ace which are two groups known for their ties and solidarity with each other, trans if you go by my headcanons which i will because this is my blog and i do what i want) to coping mechanisms (both clearly deal with their problems on their own and try to avoid letting other people help them as much as they can, even if in very different ways - magnus creates a persona so he can be surrounded by people and not let them in too close whereas raphael doesn't let them get close from the get-go), to some of their personal psychological issues (this unbearable responsibility they carry on their shoulders, like everything and everyone is dependant on them and it is on them personally to help everyone they find: see raphael and how involved he got with simon and the way he talked about the other vampires/the clan even before he became clan leader, and magnus and Literally Everyone That Came Into His Path; the feelings of monstrosity they both feel due to their downworlder status and their past; the guilt; the self sacrificial/giving til it hurts tendencies; etc), to a few personality traits (similar sense of humor, both natural leaders, both pretty bold in their own ways; they also have many differences in personality but they are quite compatible/similar in other ways as well).... i could go on. i'm not saying they are Literally The Same Character (that'd be bad writing anyway, and there are notable differences such as raphael being way more recluse than magnus, their different moral codes, etc.) but there is a lot in common, which results in a nice dynamic in which:

they have fun with each other (think "because you're totally unbiased"; that was clearly a tease, neither of them were really upset by it, raphael looked at magnus expectantly like he expected magnus to laugh and magnus just glared at him in a clearly playful way)

they care for each other deeply (think every interaction we got between them or that included them talking about each other to a third person lmao i think this one is undeniable)

they trust each other incredibly (think raphael being tortured and going to magnus before he went to his own clan, then staying at his house, he obviously feels comfortable and safe there more than anywhere else including his own supposed home; and i wish we had gotten to see more of raphael taking care of magnus as well but of course the writers always forgot magnus had friends and family beyond shadowhunters lmao, but still, i think it's undeniable that the trust goes both ways because of the sheer difference in the way magnus treated raphael as opposed to other people who came for his help, including downworlders like simon)

they are openly affectionate with each other in a way they aren't with most people (think them hugging or the way magnus casually touched raphael's face like it was perfectly normal. that is like, the only s3 raphael scene i claim lmao)

hmmm where was i going with this. man i should really get checked for ADHD or whatever

RIGHT they built a nice relationship. which magnus craved!!! he really really needed someone he could be affectionate with, someone he could trust, someone he had fun with! and again, it's not that he didn't have that, but it was the first time he was building a relationship like this again from scratch after camille. plus, i'm sure camille pushed him away from his friends because that's what abusers do, and i'm sure magnus also pushed them away to some extent because again, being vulnerable was hard. but with raphael there was no escaping it. like, he was living at magnus' house

and he needed that! and i think raphael and their relationship had such an important catalyst role in magnus' recovery from camille. not that raphael saved him - again, that's not even possible - but the way their relationship was constructed was essential for magnus to start opening up again. without it i really doubt it would have been possible for him to open up to alec, and i think their relationship and history is extremely overlooked and underrated by the fandom

but like... the fact that he was in such a vulnerable emotional state to begin with, plus the fact that their relationship was kickstarted by the fact that raphael needed him, will obviously lead to him thinking that raphael only puts up with him or whatever because he needs him/feels indebted (because magnus knows at this point that raphael is not the kind to use people, but he also knows that raphael already acts like his mere presence in the world is something he has to make up for it's the catholicism so of course he's gonna feel like he needs to make up for magnus for such a huge gesture. anyone who's not an asshole would, but like, particularly raphael). cue magnus like, probably feeling guilty for getting so attached to raphael because he's an idiot

and like of course raphael feels indebted and grateful but he also does genuinely in fact like magnus (for all the reasons listed above) and also like, he did in fact also need more connections, he had just lost all of his previous ones. but most importantly he does care for magnus and loves him immensely even beyond all that magnus did for him. and he does see magnus as a person and knows about his struggles and vulnerabilities because it's impossible not to when you live/have lived together, and he just... cares and empathises

but also raphael obviously thinks he's a burden to magnus because duh, and i don't think magnus ever really told raphael how much taking raphael in helped him, how much it meant to him and his recovery, how he was doing it for himself as much as he was doing it for rapha, because 1- he's scared of being so open and vulnerable; 2- he's scared of making raphael feel even more guilty; 3- he's stupid and i think part of him assumed it went without saying

like he was always so openly affectionate with raphael (maybe even too much in his eyes, maybe he was scared of being too attached, putting too much on his shoulders, it's not this traumatized kid's job to deal with his issues for fuck's sake) and magnus has always worn his heart in his sleeve and he feels everything so deeply i think he sometimes forgets that it's not actually plain for everyone to see and feel. particularly not non-warlocks, since it's kinda implied that warlocks have some level of sensitivity to each other going on. plus raphael is autistic af so he can't tell what magnus is feeling if magnus doesn't fucking say it, and he has a terminally low self esteem that i assume would be even lower by that point (due to, you know... the general shitshow state his life was in), so of course he doesn't assume he's as important to magnus as magnus is to him, particularly not when he is literally burdening him (in raphael's eyes). so he thinks it's obvious but it's Really Not

so we have like a lot of misunderstanding angst with both of them wanting to get closer but thinking they are imposing on the other and pulling away, and both of them taking the other pulling away as a sign that they aren't comfortable and aaaa

so like i think that rapha would mention moving out so he can get out of magnus' hair, and magnus is all crestfallen because he's so not ready to be alone at home again, but he can't be selfish and hold the kid back just because he has shit he needs to deal with, right? it's not fair

and then like lowkey spiralling afraid that after that he's going to be alone again and raphael won't want to see him anymore, or worse, that he'll force himself to out of pity or guilt, and magnus will just be a chore to him

and raphael feeling like magnus wants to get rid of him and will want him out of his hair and aaaaaaaaaaa

and magnus of course is all put together and excited about it, "yes, my boy, don't worry, i'll help you move" and playfully tilting his head and being all excited and getting into chop-chop mode because as long as he can make himself useful he can avoid thinking about how he's gonna be alone again. and rapha of course taking this as magnus being eager for him to leave

and just doijasiodjasoij they're IDIOTS. i think this would be more or less resolved by raphael because at the very least he has to thank magnus for everything he's done and tell magnus that he means so much to him, that he'll always be thankful. and magnus again is all put together, all "it was nothing, my boy" but rapha pulls him into a hug and suddenly they are Not Letting Each Other Go. like it's tight and maybe they're both shaking a little because Badly Repressed Emotions and they're just. so unwilling to let each other go for what they feel like will be forever because they are sad and dramatic. and raphael even wonders for a second if he's like, super strengthing magnus into the hug by accident, but even when he tries to let go magnus doesn't even notice and is still hugging him tight, so he's like. okay. guess i can stay for a little longer then. and keeps hugging him

and lol i have half a mind to be like "and then raphael ends up staying because neither of them actually wants raphael to leave so what's the point" and actually i think i might be going this route for this particular hc. but of course eventually raphael does leave because you know... kids grow up and all daihdsaioj and i think that they still have some things to resolve, particularly from magnus' side? i think raphael is more in touch with him than the other way around, even if mostly we've seen him coming to magnus for help, but like... that trust is there, you know, and we didn't see a lot of the opposite

i know s3 raphael was fake anyway but like i imagine him finding out that magnus lost his magic and he had no idea or that he lost his home and being like "why didn't you ask for my help?? our help??" because you know all his other friends would have wanted to help him out too, and magnus is just. he doesn't want to be a burden. he feels like if he is, he's going to lose anyone. he needs to be there for them

and it's so much bullshit of course and raphael is pissed - not at magnus, he couldn't be mad at him, but just pissed in general. and he draws magnus in for a hug and tells him that he can always come to raphael, whenever he needs, and raphael will drop everything to help him. the clan is doing okay (especially post-valentine and impending doom and all, you know, they can take care of themselves lmao. like look of course raphael is a very involved leader but you get what i mean, they won't die if he goes help magnus with something) and he has second-in-commands he trusts anyway. and he doesn't want magnus to hide his problems for him and not come for his help and aaa

just.... rapha being like "you think i wouldn't do anything i could for you? anything to make sure you're alright?" and magnus being like "you don't have to" and raphael going, "you didn't have to do it for me either. but you did" "you don't owe me anything" "i do, but this is not about that. magnus, you're my family" and magnus tearing up because it is so immense to him to be someone's family, something he almost can't grasp

and magnus slowly learning that no, raphael doesn't need him, but that's not important because he wants magnus in his life anyway. and they can always rely on each other, no matter what, even if they aren't dependant on each other - and that is a good thing :)

wait i started reading again this year too! i started reading old books i have like why did i ever stop?!! like i don't think people understand the pure peace and joy (even when i'm crying) that i get reading. i love books that can make me feel too but i only read fiction though. and when i read it plays like a movie.

got any recommendations? i will read a lot of different genres👀

yeah it’s been a real blast reading again!! like ofc i’ve been reading fanfics over the years but theres something so nice about holding a paperback and smelling the pages 🥴

i’ve only read a few books recently so far, so i’ll just list down the ones i enjoyed!

she who became the sun - this is what i’m currently reading and so far i am OBSESSED,,, if you’re a fan of historical drama shows, i think this is a great read. it’s kinda got mulan-esque vibes (but make it queer lol) and it’s just?? so beautifully written and i am absolutely devouring it rn!! highly recommend!!

circe - okay so i read a song of achilles a long time ago (and loved it bc i’ve always been a sucker for greek myth retellings) so idk why it took me so long to read this but MY GOD... THE WAY I??? FELT SO SEEN??? WHILE READING THIS??? the way miller reimagines circe as this outcast who turns into a powerful witch is SO GOOD... i finished the entire thing in one sitting if that says anything about how much i enjoyed it lol (and yes i cried at the ending bc i was so happy for her—again bc i was projecting HAHHAHAH)

the last hour series - okay like i know cassandra clare is kinda milking this entire shadowhunters series dry but i have to mention this series bc 1) THE INFERNAL DEVICES IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE YA SERIES OF ALL TIME so ofc a series about their children is going to grab me by the tit and 2) THERE’S A GHOST BOY IN THIS AND I AM DOWN BAD FOR HIM okay that’s all i just really love jesse blackthorn bye

shadow and bone trilogy - okay so the six of crows duology is literally one of my favorite series of all time (yes i know i just said that about tid but i am literally bisexual—you can’t make me choose) so idk why it took me so long to get around to reading bardugo’s other series and tbh it’s just as good!! i’m only about halfway thru the first book rn (im switching between this and she who became the sun lol) and usually it takes me a while to get really into fantasy books bc worldbuilding takes forever to understand for my puny brain, but yeah it’s great!! i’m thinking of watching the netflix series right after :D

The Wicked Powers Theories

The Wicked Powers has recently been getting me excited WAY too much - which says a lot about how weird I am since Cassie hasn’t even started on it yet (LOL).

aND, so, I kind of thought it’d be nice to jot down some predictions and theories on how the series might go and maybe some thoughts on THE SHIPS (that really do be the real TEA).

So.Here we go.And do let me know about any thoughts you have on this topic as well - I read anything about TWP like a crazed creature these days istg.

1)The POV has already been envisioned to be from Ty, Dru and Kit. I absolutely love this settlement since they are all very intriguing characters. Ty is an interesting person and his actions are always unpredictable, so we might enjoy this one. And,I believe he is at The Scholomance while the story progresses, followed by Livvy (Ghost Livvy, I mean).It’s still unclear what Livvy’s situation is, so I can’t wait to know more about that - it’s bound to be something unexpected. And, as for Dru, it’s kinda obvious. We all know that WE HAVE A LOVE TRIANGLE COMING UP. But, other than that, we also know she attends The Academy and finally starts to makes some friends and even has that really close Italian (..or was it Spanish???) Shadowhunter friend who’s her age and Cassie also revealed that the two are really tight indeed. And I will be honing in on the Love Triangle soon - I told you I’ll be trying to spill whatever tea I’m guessing at. And, as for the last character WE HAVE KIT! OMFG YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE OLDER BROTHER KIT.LIKE GOSH DARN IT HE IS SO ADORABLE AND MINA IS SO EFFING CUTE I CAN’T EVEN- AND KIT’S TRAINING WITH JEM AND HE IS GOING TO BE A WELL-TRAINED SHADOWHUNTER IN TWP, SO YAYYYY!! And, I absolutely CANNOT wait for MinaXKit interactions, they are the cutest siblings ever and I absolutely know that Mina grows up to be sarcastic. I can’t wait for the possible sarcastic arguments between Kit and 4-year old Mina. YOU THINK I FORGOT ABOUT KITxTY? NOPE.THE REAL SHET’S COMING UP.

2)Now,we know that the storyline is going to have something to do with that Faerie Heirloom that was from the Rosales Family. And, Cassie also said it was going to be kind of an Arthurian Legend-ish story. If you don’t know the Arthurian Legend, I suggest you read on it. I’m not sure if Cassie meant the characters and LOVE Aspect of it or the LEGEND aspect of it as in the stuff about Excalibur and all. But, for now we’ll view it in both and examine it, shall we?

King Arthur's reign ends after his wife and best knight have an affair.

This is the drama in the legend.But, there are no relationships with the MCs yet. So idk. I’m clueless. Like, maybe Dru has a relationship?? Okay I’m clutching at practically nothingness so don’t judge me. :/

So,it’s obviously something to do with the LEGEND.

I am afraid I cannot say too much about it, since I have never read too deeply about it. But, here’s some of the basics:

-He managed to pull out Excalibur from the rock it was stuck in.

-He wielded Excalibur for the people and not for his own self-interest.

-He gets help from a wizard named Merlin.

-The peeps go on a quest.

And I have this reference from a website..I’ll hit u with the link as well, if you’d like to read more on it like I did

So,now I thought this was interesting- the destruction part. After all, it’s something I’m expecting about the Shadowhunters. Will the Clave maybe be destroyed? Or maybe Faerie will be destroyed? So,there were three things that brought on this uh Destruction.FIRST, his wife and his best buddy were going behind his back and doing them lovey-dovey stuff. And they all go on some quest to retrieve something important to them. So, this sounds like something plausible to be the plot of TWP. Maybe the Heirloom’s missing? And who goes on the quest though? Maybe they venture through Faerie? BLAH MY HEAD HURTS SOME THINGS ARE BETTER TO BE SURPRISED WITH ;)

-----I kinda scrolled back up while writing about Janus down there and remembered CLARY MIGHT BE TAKEN HOSTAGE LIKE YESS AND THEY GO FIND HER MAYBE?

3)We will defo see Christina, Mark and Kieran at some point- no worries, Emma and Julian too. Happy Couples! XD

4)So,then we can look forward to Dru and Jaime’s interactions. I am absolutely excited for this the most, as a shipper of the two. If you remember, we saw Jaime ignoring her for a while back there at the end of QOAAD and then he says “See ya at the Academy soon ig”. I really do hope they meet and hang out as friends, at least. I am excited to see what kind of trope it’s gonna be tho. Like, do they ignore each other and remain awkward until they start the adventure stuff in the book where they eventually have to talk to each other after years or smth. Or, maybe they’re really good friends rn. But, what I’ll warn y’all shippers is that they might not end up together, and could wind up as brother-sister-ish kind of best buddies. Which is equally cute a relationship imo. It’s a really sweet thing to be, really. I lowkey hope Cassie spins something beautiful for their relationship like a sibling-like best friends kind of thing. But, I feel like they might have feelings for each other in secret. Or maybe they date. Or maybe they suppress their secret-feelings for the sake of friendship later on in the book and end up having that really sweet friendship I was talking about.There are SO many options and that is precisely why I am so freaking excited.

5)JAIME ROCIO ROSALES. Like, I have this gut feeling that he might end up being my fave male protagonist character in TSC. He’s got it ALL. Like, the sense of humour, the looks, the bubbly yet brooding personality, the quirks and OFC THE FRICKING NAME ITSELF IS CUTE AF LIKE BRUH I CANNOT WAIT TO READ ABOUT HIM.I have so much to say about Jaime but I’d rather we let ourselves simply wait for the crumbs Cassie might give us or maybe reread all his parts in TDA like I do everyday or just wait for the book to come out rather than simp for someone we know nothing about yet....

6)Ash Morgenstern. He’s a cute lil bean. That was random and untrue lmao. He’s not a ‘lil bean’. He’s totally badass with dem wings and all, but we know he’s soft inside for Janus and ofc Dru, I believe. I find him the most intriguing character, honestly. I would love to know what goes through his head. He’s actually, like, the one character in TSC that I don’t have all figured out. He gon surprise us all for sure tho. He is awesome. That’s all I have to say for now. And he looks up to Janus which is SO GODDAMN SWEET AHHHH. And THE WINGS I CANNOT WAIT TO READ MORE ABOUT THE WINGS IT SOUNDED SO BADASS ISTG I LITERALLY CANNOT WAIT GOSH DARN IT. But he really do be a cute lil bean lowkey tho.

7)Kit and Ty LOL. I have no words really. But lemme tell you how it might go. There is definitely going to be some kind of reunion. AND THEN THAT’S WHERE IT GETS CUTE. They could either be awkward and we know what tension that gets us-perhaps some whisperings of My Watson...(? ;) and maybe they go all sad and brooding with dem looks later OR, they could be the sweetie-pies they were before and be happy and all HIII BUDDDYYYY MISSED YAAA LESS GO BE DETECTIVES YAY BURN IT UP MAH BUDDY!! Either way it’s going to be cute af and we know it . TRUST IN CASSIE Y’ALL.I trust Cassie to let this ship sail the seven seas and seven more like it deserves.

8)Ash and Dru So, Ash has a strange lil fixation on Dru and I believe he even thought she was ‘pretty’ or something. It was definitely a good adjective, but I think he said ‘pretty’. idk but we know he likes her. and I can imagine a nice relationship. How likey i think all tlh characters are to die

Alastair -5/10 has said he wont marry a woman anyway so even of he does die ots going to be baby carstairs to continue the line he will be killed off right after getting forgiveness /confessing feelings to thomas but he is the very typical character to be killed off so i hope he isn't

Ariadne - 3/10 like Alastair she is queer and a poc so i hope she ismt killed as she is the typical character that gets killed and just let lesbians have love without tragedy i beg (even though she deserve better than anna and thats a whole different essay)

Anna - 4/10 this would hurt the characters a lot like christopher losing his sister, Matthew losing a close friend also his only other out friend, even thomas and anna have a close relationship. Anna sying would destroy all the characters. But i feel like shes been created to seem like this invincible character and i feel like that will lead to her getting seriously hurt or set back not killed

Charles - 2/10 lowkey i cant see him dying out of all the characters he is the most likely innmy opinion. He doesn't suck enough to be killed by one of the main characters. The only purpose his death would serve is more pain for Charlotte and Henry. I just think he isnt the main group and theres no point to his death.

Christopher - 6/10 i really hope not though. He so sweet and i love him but he is perfect for the one that doesn't deserve to die trope. Him being seriously hurt in the first book makes me think he wont get hurt again but that could also just be a false sense of security.

Cordelia - 1/10 the only reason i see her death making sense is to pass cortana onto Emma but like she could easily want it to stay with her family name and pass it on to her niece/nephew. (amd we also don't know what's happening with her and james relationship like while we can't see them actually getting the divorce shes still cpuld and just not have children) but she is the main character of the story really as like the outsider so i just don't think she will die it doesn't make sense

Grace - 6/10 like i can see her death fitting into the story well but she also doesn't seem like a character thats gonna be killed off. Like shes messing with necromancy and tatiana is insane so she has plenty of chances to be killed but also i think its too easy of a way to deal with her.

James - 2/10 hes already nearly died. He also can't die before having children as he is the only herondale male.

Jesse - 10/10 - hes already dead

Lucie - 3/10 unlikely i think however we do have the younger sibling dying in tmi and tda (and sort of tid i feel like jessimine dying fits in with this) but i feel like with her ability she just won't i feel like she has some protection from death as well as being someone that so many people would die for I just cant see her dying even though her place in the book makes sense i domt think she will

Matthew - 7/10 if he doesn't die hes going to be stripped of his ruins /get turned into a vampire or some way he is no longer a shadowhunter. His life is already filled with tragedy and he is careless so woupd easily get himself killed. His death would have a big effect on the merry thieves dynamic and would be one of the most painful for readers.

Thomas - 7/10 i dont know why but he jsut seems very likely like i feel like CC is gonna cause us pain with the thomas Alastair relationship and i just see it being him that gets hurt. He just im general doesn't deserve it so makes him more likely to die i feel like if he dies it will be then end of chain of iron. It would also make sense why him and Christopher aren't parabatia if hes going to die.

no HAHA but i definitely enjoy a good soulmate au (wink wonk). why don't i believe in soulmates? well, here me out on this one (or don't - it's really up top u whether u read the answer HAHA) and bare with me making this a lot deeper than it actually is. i'll answer below the cut tho bc im gonna go on an unnecessarily long ramble HAHAHAHAHAHAH but i love going on rambles about things like this and breaking it down and exploring the ideas associated so. but the short answer is that no, i don't believe in soulmates because the idea of 'fate' can kind of suck.

so,,, why don't i believe in soulmates?

well, if soulmates exist (and i say 'soulmates' referring to just... ur fated person, not red string of fate or other soul mate au. soulmate in the most... biological/physiological way possible; coming from the same star or smth. i dont remember the whole thing but theres a theory/idea that you and your soulmate come from the same star and when the star burst the atoms created you and ur partner etcetc idk it's my favourite soulmate theory/au thing but anyways) GETTING BACK ON TRACK. if soulates exist, that kind of alludes to the idea that... everything happens/happened for a reason.

the idea of a soulmate existing, of someone who.. idk, makes up for your faults, who always manages to deal with your faults and who's your perfect other half etc. is like.. it.. means that if A and B are soulmates, then the existence of A means that all of the things that happened to B happened for a reason to enable A to be that perfect puzzle piece that fits right in. i don't know if that makes sense.

we are who we are because of the thigns that we experience - all of our our strengths come from the challenges we face, and all of the positive encouragers in our life. our supports facilitate our development, but our challenges also shape us, as much as we hate it. taking the easy example of trauma - our trauma response in both the short and long term affects how we act and how we react to things. the idea of a soul,ate who just.. naturally understands and is able to facilitate these (potentially) disabling responses means that the traumatic event was. idk. fated to happen. happened for a reason, etc.

and that's not to say that no one exists out there who will be able to facilitate and understand and love someone despite their 'flaws', but the concept of a 'soulmate' somehow takes away the humanness of human connection?

if A is able to accomodate all of B's 'flaws', it should be because they want to and because they, somewhere along the line, have learnt hte skills to do that, and the people who taught/displayed the skills did so not because it was 'fated' but because that's how humanity works and- and maybe yeah this is because i don't want to believe that a lot of the things i and other people have experienced was 'meant' to happen for some reason, but yeah.

i don't know man i could go on for EVER about this. idek if what i've said has made sense. and i know the question probably isn't as deep as i made it out to be but i love talking about human connection and about how everything makes us us and maybe not exactly in a psychoanalytical way but if i understoood the concepts of psychoanalysis i would have typed up a proper 3000word essay.

Ok so I need to know: Are Kit and Ty together??? Because Im not sure if its a completely fanmade shipping, if they just havent found each other but are in love with each other or if they are canon together

I hope you're not planning on reading tda, cause the whole answer is gonna be spoilers, or more like, everything thats happened with them, so yeah same thing.

Okay so, it's not a fan made ship but also they aren’t together yet.

So this got long and you probably didn't want this long of an answer but I can't stop when it's KitTy.

They both are introduced in the first book itself, but Kit doesn't have a main role until the second book. Ty Blackthorn, who is Julian's (main character of tda) brother, is totally interested in solving mysteries and crimes (he's a fan of Sherlock Holmes!) but nothing that major happens in LA.

[Bit of a backstory, Blackthorns are 7 siblings because I can't remember if you've read tmi, Helen and Mark are half siblings to the rest and they are part faerie but due to a war where faeries betrayed the shadowhunters, Helen was exiled and Mark was kidnapped even before the war, so the shadowhunter government just decided to not search for him. So any contact from faeries has now been cut off and Julian (who was 12 yrs old) has to take care of all his siblings.]

So in Lady Midnight, when an offer comes from faerie to give Mark back in exchange for finding a serial killer, they all take it up. And Ty who is a Sherlock Holmes fan is all intent on trying to help in finding the killer. N Kit’s father is a shady guy who apparently knows lots of things so when Emma and Julian go to Kit’s dad to try find some info, Ty sneaks into the basement where Kit is hiding while his father is doing business. Now for the only scene of KitTy in Lady Midnight, Ty puts a knife to Kit’s neck and Kit’s first thought at looking at this all happen is “How beautiful”. I think many of us started shipping them together since that one scene. So after that, stuff happens and Kit finds out, by the end of book 1 that he is a shadowhunter, (n he loathes shadowhunters ) Lost Herondale who everyone (except for couple of people who found him) thought that that branch of Herondale family is dead.

So, here’s Kit, he just saw his father die in front of him, found out that he is a shadowhunter, people who he dislikes a lot, and all alone in an Institute with strangers. He locks himself inside a room. N Ty sits on the other side of the door so that Kit doesn't feel alone.

After a while, when Kit starts to come out of his room, Ty asks him to become his Watson. Kit doesn't say anything to that but that's one of my favourite parts. So they all (Ty, Livvy n Kit) go on little missions together. Now there's this one part when Livvy gets severely injured and Ty feels guilty because Livvy asked him to be parabatai with her many times but he always refused because the place where he wanted to study, there you can't have a parabatai. N rn when Livvy is injured, he feels guilty bc Livvy would have healed sooner if she had a parabatai. So then, Kit n Ty go to the roof and they hug. (I fangirl over the smallest of things)

So again storyline goes on, nothing other than that happens between them until the 3rd book. So what happened is Livvy died in the end of the 2nd book. That impacted Ty a lot. Livvy was like the only person who understood Ty. N when Livvy dies, he feels really alone.

BUT now he's intent on bringing her back. He asks Kit to help him, Kit says that it's not a good idea but he goes along with Ty bc if he doesn't, Ty would do it alone and maybe there's a chance that Kit can convince him not to until the time Ty finds all the stuff he needs for necromancy.

Ty somehow manages to acquire everything and a day before a major war, he wakes up Kit and convinces Kit to come with him to the Lake Lyn where they would do the necromancy.

Now, during the necromancy, it's obviously sinister and Kit still doesn't want to help in it. He again tries to stop Ty and he tells Ty that he isn't alone and that everyone in his family loves him and they are all going to be there for him n that he's there too.

N that's when Kit tells Ty that he loves him.

"I love you Ty, I love you." (that quote lives in my mind all the time hehe)

Then Ty almost stops but then he continues on with necromancy. When Livvy's ghost appears, even Livvy says that necromancy was a bad idea n apparently one of the ingredients that he got was corrupted so she couldn't have been brought back physically n only her ghost was brought back. Ty tells her to stay, in her ghost form n says "There's nothing here without you." Or some variation of that, I can't remember rn.

N Kit is there in the background looking at the guy he just confessed to and probably the only person he's ever said 'I love you' to, say that there is nothing without Livvy, feels heartbroken n that Ty doesn't love him.

Now, what Ty said about the being nothing shouldn't be a big deal because he loves his sister a lot n of course he is going to feel alone but Kit is an orphan, he doesn't remember his mother n his father was a shitty guy. So Kit makes a big deal out of it.

The next day during the battle, they weren’t allowed to go to the battle (even though Ty wanted to join but Magnus tied them to a tree through magic on Julian’s orders). So they both were angry with each other n at one point Kit says that he wished he never met Ty. Now Ty is autistic, and he believes the things the way they are said so that’s the start of their angsty ending in tda.

So anyways, Livvy’s ghost comes at that moment, frees both of them from the tree n they go to join the battle, Ty climbs a tree n by the time he checks on Kit Emma had seen Kit n took him away cause she was told to keep Kit safe.

N then there’s another plot twist, its found that Kit is not only the Lost Herondale but a Heir to the Faerie crown which he doesn’t want. But if people find out its him, they’re going to be after him to kill him. So, Tessa and Jem (who had found him at first ) ask him if he wants to live with them in Devon. N Kit, feeling depressed n rejected says yes. And he says to leave asap n he doesn’t want to say goodbye to anyone.

It wouldn’t have that heartbreaking but some points of their actions toward each other are so sweet.

Like Ty doesn’t look into someone’s eyes but he looked at Kit. N Kit, he didn’t cry ever in the book, even when his only family died but he did when Ty didn’t reply to his i love you.

Now, they’re going to have their own trilogy, The Wicked Powers. Which is gonna be published no time soon :/

Personal opinion: I’m glad they didn’t get together in tda because both of them have their own traumas over which they need to work out.

So, yeah, that’s the whole story.
