what happens if Orca!Eclipse interacts with a mute y/n who cannot speak or sing? Would he still try to get them to sing with him or would he be understanding of their situation?

He would be greatly angered by your silence and keep coaxing (threatening) you to speak until it becomes clear that you're making a lot of frantic hand gestures. He reels it back enough to register that you're trying to communicate with him in this foreign manner. He's swift to pick up on the words and phrases and would communicate them back, however, he's all the more obsessive protective over you because a siren without a voice is a very vulnerable creature and he can only assume that a human without a voice would be in just as dire circumstances. He would mourn that he couldn't ever hear you sing, but he would understand that you're mute and thus, takes it upon himself to keep you safe from everything and everyone whether you want him to or not.

do you have any favorite meta or analysis from yourself or other people for orv? reading peoples takes in the meta channel of orvcord (orv discord) was addicting and i want more. even if you dont I still want to hear you talk about things you like like its philosophy or inspiration and stuff.

Aaah, ok, I tried to answer this ask a few days ago and wrote like a few paragraphs each for some of my favorite meta things, but Tumblr just like deleted it when I tried to post（ TT 。TT ）... I've posted these things before and don't have the same energy to completely resummarize them so if you don't wanna search through my archive for the og posts you can go ahead and ask specifying questions but I'm just gonna list my favorite meta things to analyze.

1. JHY's transmess & progression of transfem portrayals throughout the ORV narrative + implications on the idea of a 'character' between the expectations and intentions of writers and readers.

2. YSA's role in the story and commentary on relationship between female characters and roles with agency in narrative + emphasis on Journey to the West commentary in particular.

3. Reader/writer/character trifecta in ORV epilogues, particularly how the OD works in terms of KDJ's character, reader expectation, and the idea of 'probability.' + the idea that when KDJ looked up WoS the first time he genuinely just typed something like 'how do you keep living in a terrible world like this' and HSY's story with YJH was the answer that came up.

+ Bonus is drawing connections between KDJ's mom and the myth her constellation backer is from, that post might be more recent? Then of course anything that's like connections between KDJ's youth and the way he acts as an adult.

I'm pretty sure nobody will care about this but me, but I was listening to an old Nickel Creek album ("Why Should the Fire Die?") and I had a great time assigning some bitter, cynical songs to Gilmore Girls couples, because I'm me. 😂

Dean/Rory: "Somebody More Like You" (This is a bitter, self-pitying breakup song from Dean's POV. 😆 "I hope you finally find someone, someone that you trust, and give him everything... I hope you meet someone your height, so you can see eye to eye... With someone as Small as you!" This made me laugh inappropriately)

Logan/Rory: "Can't Complain" (This is SOOOO a Logan song! OMG. A whirlwind love affair, but culminating with: "I cheated on her with a friend of mine... There are no days when we don't fight... But remember that I warned her and I'm a guy... So she can't complain." ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯ Oh no, she can't complain!)

Jess/Rory: "Helena" (Gender bent and a SUPER cynical interpretation of the space between S2 and S3 that I don't REALLY believe, haha, but STILL: "You win! I lose! Is there some way you can leave me in your debt so my girl and I can live to die another day? On that day I won't forget you, Helena, you'll look so sweet, waiting for me, while I wait for her to give me any reason to leave..." 😂😭)

And then I'll pick ONE sweet song, for Luke and Lorelai: "Why Should the Fire Die?" (Firstly, it's a WALTZ! But it's so full of wistful longing and I see it as Luke's POV: "I'm not scared of being alone, it's just that I'm happier being confused beside the fire, as long as it's with you." 🥺)

RoP Celebration - Week 6

Minor Characters/OCs/Rairpairs

Now, I know what you're thinking. Arondir isn't a minor character and DEFINITELY isn't part of a rarepair (in cannon). Instead, I'm putting him in the oc category, since he's an original creation of the show. (Disclaimer, this is about 100% headcanon lol)

What we know

Arondir is a Silvan elf, whose people did not follow the valar even partway to Valinor.

Was born and raised in Beleriand (according to tolkiengateway. I think he could have been born in Middle Earth and moved to Beleriand as a child, but for the sake of this post, we'll roll with it)

Was born in the first age or before

Worked as a grower (farmer? I'm assuming?) before becoming a soldier, likely during the War of Wrath

In short, we don't know a lot about him... so I'm going to make it up!

Arondir's family is originally from the Ered Alwed (Mountains of Prosperity)

It was a beautiful land with rolling hills and flowing rivers, not far from the Sea

The land was also sheltered on three sides by mountains

They got bored soon enough, however, being the only intelligent life in the area

Arondir had parents, an elder sister, three elder brothers, a grandfather, an aunt, two uncles, and a handful of cousins who went west

They decided to travel west to more populated places and eventually wound up in Doriath

They settle down as farmers growing fruits and ninniachloth flowers (his sister, however, makes her way into Menegroth and gets a reputation as an excellent caregiver. She is eventually given the privilege of caring for King Dior's children)

This is the world Arondir is born into, just before the start of the first age; peace, plenty, a loving family, flourishing orchards, lush berry fields, and forest clearings full of crystalline flowers

That world is destroyed when Arondir is around 550 years old (young, though fully grown, for an elf)

The kinslayers come and sack Menegroth and destroy the surrounding residences and farms

Arondir's sister is killed defending her charges

His father and grandfather are killed defending the farm

His uncles, aunt, and cousins attempt to flee and are never seen again

Two of his brothers were serving a mandatory stint in Dior's guard and are lost in the chaos

His third brother, coming across the ruins of their home, challenges the Feanorians, and loses

Arondir hides

He has never been one for violence; as a boy, he always made someone else kill the chickens when it came time for dinner

And so, like a coward he hides

He survives

He joins the other survivors on their long march to the Havens of Sirion and makes his home beside the riverbank

Children begin to call him "strawberry man" because he grows them in the rocky soil near his hut and gives them out to any passing little one

He tills the soil, works the fields, makes friends with his fellow refugees, and for a while, Arondir starts to believe he can have peace in this little corner of the world

The war continues brewing in the north, but if he keeps to himself and keeps his head facing the earth, it cannot reach him

It cannot reach him... until it does

The kinslayers come again, not even 40 years after their first assault, to claim what is "theirs"

But Arondir does not hide this time

They have taken enough from him already

This time, he fights

Once again, he survives

Once again, his people are scattered

Once again, they have lost their ruler (on wings of flight, this time, instead of death)

Unlike in the past, however, Arondir does not wait around for the enemy to come to him

Instead, he finds the nearest camp of High-King Gil-Galad's host and volunteers himself as a soldier

"Y'know-", he speaks up, talking to seemingly himself, but it's directed towards the person behind him. "All the other dead guys here have resurrection dates. The day they came back and everything's totally fine again. From what I've been told, they remember 'em. For the most part, I guess." He runs a tongue over unglossed lips, wetting them after such long exposure to the cold.

"I don't remember mine though. I know it happened but... everything's kinda a blur." A pause. "Actually, the days all kinda blurred together before that but you get what I mean." The cyborg sighs, sinking into himself. "It's kind of sad, ain't it? Not havin' a day like that. I mean, yeah, I could always just pick a day. Wouldn't be the first time someone's did that. But what would be the point in that? It's a band-aid at best. I'd still be thinkin' about it every time the rez date I picked rolled around."

He inhales, then exhales. "I'm ramblin' though. Sorry. I don't think you wanted to hear that."

this thing keeps happening where I'll send a friend a post from my dash and some hours later it will be deleted from that person's blog. not the original, the reblog. sometimes within the day, others are a bit later. so then the message just says "post no longer available." i almost never remember who i sent it from, but the times i was able to remember, i never saw a reason for them to have gone back in and delete it? (ie they reblogged something to their art-only blog or something.) sometimes it's a few days later

are y'all going back through your blog periodically and deleting posts? daily?? do you ever reblog something and realize hours later that you didn't mean to, or shouldn't have? I'll accidentally reblog something to the wrong blog but i notice right away and delete it then. and I've deleted OLD posts i come across that aged poorly, but even then it's rare. is it a glitch??

im gonna start using my sideblog to reblog any post i send at this point because it's like actually impacting my conversations. like taking a day or two (or more) to respond is totally normal but if it's not available anymore than they have no idea wtf im talking about
