Whether you approach arts and media as a creator, a fan, a professional, or a hobbyist, you are probably very well aware of the rapid growth of AI in many areas of creative life and the conversation surrounding it. Whether we are talking about fiction or text of any kind, visual arts like painting and drawing, music composition and performance, sound design and audio editing - in all of these fields AI is something we now have to deal with, and there are many unanswered questions. How do we protect our livelihoods and practices as artists? What control can we have over our own work and its incorporation into machine learning tools and datasets? How do we as lovers of art and music determine if what we are reading, watching, or listening to is made by humans? Or how do we denote the particular degree of involvement of humans in a work of art?
Itâs a complicated issue because it can be hard to say exactly where to draw the line. For example, well before the current conversation about AI, composers like Brian Eno were incorporating generative and algorithmic elements into their work. Does this mean such work is not âessentially human madeâ? Does it matter if the non-human components of a piece are created by randomness, or by natural elements gathered in e.g. a field recording, vs. being created by a computer program?
Those kinds of questions are more about the philosophical side of the issue. There are more pressing questions to do with how AI affects our ability to actually survive as artists. And, as the technology grows more powerful and the distinction between AI-generated or AI-enhanced material and human made material or basic documentation of reality itself, what methods do we use to signify that a given piece of media is or is not AI made, and what are the exact qualifications of that? Should the label âAI artâ apply to work that is entirely generated by a computer, or should that label also be applied to any art that uses AI tools in any context - e.g. the new tools in Photoshop that make it easier to remove a specific object from an image and fill it in with background. What about the world of video games, where AI has been used for decades for things like pathfinding but is new and controversial when it comes to using it for story/dialog elements or certain visual assets?
We are, I think, still very much in the early days of all this, so itâs hard to come up with firm answers as the field changes so rapidly, but this is an essential conversation to be held now. Iâve been talking to a friend who put together a survey for an organization called Verified Human, who are looking specifically into the issue of how do we determine - going forward - whether a piece of art or media is âessentially human madeâ, and the question of how that should be communicated.
The idea of this survey is to gather as many points of view as possible for this conversation. I know a lot of the people that follow me here are artists and lovers of art, of all different kinds, and to me it is absolutely essential that creators of all kinds be involved in this conversation from early on. Please take a few minutes and fill out the survey via the link below, and if you are interested in helping out, please spread the word. And if you have any questions or would like to discuss, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you.

Shibari + Zhongli canon compliant nsfw
Pairing: Zhongli x Gender Neutral!reader
Genre: SMUT SMUT SMUT!!Â
Words: 3.9k
AN: Hi anon!! Sorry this took a while! THANK YOU FOR REQUESTING THIS ONE!! Iâm glad I had experience writing something like this before skajdha I decided I canât fit this into a small drabble, so hereâs like a really long version lmao my two itty bitty braincells are now in no-brain mode, so this might be full of typos or errors.Â
*WARNING!! THIS IS PURE SMUT. IF YOU ARE A MINOR, IT IS UPON YOUR DISCRETION. PLEASE READ RESPONSIBLY*
***
When Zhongli first heard the word while on a stroll late one night, he had realized that there was indeed an artform he had yet to encounter or at least heard of. His curiosity peaked, it was only a matter of time before he finally had to give in and ask you what it was.
âYN, if I may,â he began, settling the cup of tea to the table. âThere is something I wish to know.â
Attention caught, you raised your brows at himâsurprised that there was actually something Zhongli has yet to knowâas you took a mouthful of wonton noodles.
âSure, ask away,â you replied, chewing.
âWell, this was several nights ago,â Zhongli recounted, his deep voice serious. âI was passing by a group of shipbuilders and I couldnât help but over hear their conversation.â
You hummed, prompting him to continue while stuffing another serving of blackened bass in your mouth.
âTheir discussion involved an artform popular in Inazuma, and apparently has spread all over Teyvat as well,â he continued. âUnfortunately, I have yet to hear about this certain artform. Could you care enlighten me please?â
Leaning your head to the side, you wondered what it was. There wasnât any popular art trend nowadays which Zhongli doesnât know, so you became to grow curious as well.
âDid you catch the name of it?â
Zhongli nodded. âYes. Itâs called shibari.â
You almost choked on the food you were eating.
âAre you sure thatâs what you heard?â
âI believe it is what I have heard,â he replied. âIs there something wrong?â
Sighing, you were going to have a lot of trouble explaining it to him. It was painfully obvious how Zhongli is so out of touch from the pleasures of mankind.
Pinching the bridge of your nose, you decided it was best for him to know, before he does something unexpected.
âItâs kind of a sexual play,â you told him, but despite your words, Zhongli only glanced at you, eyes blinking.
Watching him, you noticed he had placed his hand over his chinâa habit he had whenever he was thinking. Whatever comes out of his thoughts, you were beginning to become nervous.
âI see. So, performing art during intercourseâŚinteresting,â he mumbled to himself. âIt is not too far off considering the fact that intercourse could also be deemed as a form of art, wherein it takes specialized honed skill to elicit a pleasurable result. To take two art forms and combine them in one actâŚI am astonished at the inventiveness of man.â
You took a bite from a dumpling, eyes jaded. âItâs not that grand, you know.â
âNow that I am aware of its existence,â Zhongli continued, paying no heed to your comment. âI wish to experience it myself. YN, I must request for your assistance.â
The dumpling you were eating fell back to your plate. ââŚwhat?â
âThisâŚthis shibari. I wish to partake in this now popular art form,â he repeated, but you only became more flabbergasted.
âDidnât you hear me say that itâs a sexual play?!â
âI did. That is why it must be you,â Zhongli replied, taking your hand and placing it over his smirking lips. âYou are my lover after all.â
Flustered, you had no choice but to agree. You knew of Zhongliâs immense curiosity and nothing is going to stop him from finding out what he wants to find out. Moreover, you wouldnât really want him to experience it with someone else.
âF-fine,â you conceded, still nervous. âBut give me a month to prepare. You should also ready yourself.â
Wondering why he had to wait and âreadyâ himself, Zhongli leaned his head to the side. âVery well, but why a month?â
You scratched your nape as you averted your gaze somewhere. âI donât have the right stuff, and I donât have enough knowledge to do it properly. So give me some time.â
*
It had been a month since that conversation had occurred, and Zhongli began to feel a little bit antsy as the day drew near. It wasnât common for him to feel this nervous energy, always maintaining his calm and composure. But it was different this time.
Since that discussion with you, you had banned any sort of sexual act from sex to masturbation, all except from small kisses; and as someone who had gotten used to your presence in his arms at night, Zhongli instantly felt withdrawal symptoms cloud his dignified countenance.
Zhongli inhaled sharply as soon as you entered his room, anticipation deeply running in his veins. You took a shower right after him, making him wait and allowing his imagination to run rampant inside his head.
âSorry, did I make you wait?â you asked, making your way to the bed in nothing but a bathrobe.
âNo, itâs alright,â Zhongli replied, his long hair now freely flowing after he had taken off his ponytail when he was taking a shower.
Running your hands through his dark hair, you admired the way they slipped against your skin as if they were made of silk. Absentmindedly, you began to braid his hair in a lose coif, making him relax underneath your touch.
âUmâŚerâŚYN, are we going toââ
You hummed, interrupting his words as you smiled. âEager, arenât we?â
âI fear that I may longer be able to contain my anticipation,â he confessed, feeling your hands on his back through the thin robe he was wearing.
Grinning, you knelt down and embraced him from the back; giving his temple a small kiss. âIt seems like I donât have to ask you if youâre sure about this.â
Loving how you felt so warm around him, Zhongli smiled as well as he intertwined his fingers between yours. âI do feel nervous, but it was I who wished to know; thus I must see it to the end.â
âWell, that settleâs it then,â you replied as you removed yourself from his shoulders. âBefore we start, I need to remind you that we can always stop if you can no longer handle it, ok?â
Zhongli sighed. âI am confident that I can handle something like this.â
âPlease stop being so stubborn,â you retorted back, annoyed that he really has to insist he wouldnât need it. âSince it will take you forever to decide, Iâve picked one for you. Itâs Rex Lapis. Say it when it gets too much.â
He scoffed. âYou retaliate in the most absurd of ways, yet very well, Iâll keep it mind. Nonetheless, that does not mean I will use it.â
You grinned. âYouâll take that back soon enough.â
As you said those words, you shifted from your seat and faced him; hands cupping his chin. There was a look of surprise in Zhongliâs expression as soon as you tilted his head up to meet your eyesâtoo slow to react at the situation.
âNow, from here on out, Iâm the one in charge. Any misdemeanor will warrant due punishment,â you began, voice firm and authoritative. âAre we clear, Zhongli?â
It took him some time to adjust at the sudden shift in the air; stunned at the tone you were giving him. This was probably the first time he had seen you take the lead, and it mightâve given him some sort of whiplash.
âAnswer me,â you demanded, which made him jerk his attention back to you.
âIâuhâŚyesâŚâ
âVery good.â
Smiling at his response, you removed yourself before him and sat just beside him with an easy expression. âWell then, why donât you take off that robe? Just the robe though, leave your underwear on.â
Brought on by the awkward situation and the fact that you just ordered him to strip, Zhongliâs face immediately heated up to a few degrees. It was strange that he was feeling it for some reasonâwas this the actual appeal of the performative art form? Or was this simply one of your whims?
As he removed the silk tie tying his robe shut and slid it on the floor, you instructed him to quietly kneel down on the bed before you; hands neatly placed on top of his lap.
âY-YNâŚ? What is thisâŚ?â he asked, confusion marring his youthful face. It was embarrassing to sit on the bed that way, wearing nothing but his underwear, his dick beginning to form a tent.
Yet you only smiled at him.
âDonât worry. Weâre getting to the actual act,â you replied, crawling towards him before placing your hands on his bare chest. âIf you can hold on till then, I might actually award you, you know?â
Leaning down, you immediately captured his lips in a deep kiss, moving softly yet sensually against his. Cupping his cheeks, you pushed your tongue inside and easily played with his. For some reason, this felt way hotter than the kisses you previously shared, with Zhongli unable to keep his hands to himself and began to wrap his arms around your waist.
You broke off the kiss with a click of your tongue; your thumb still on his swollen lips.
âYNâŚâ
âWhat did I say about touching?â you asked, eyes holding nothing but pure mischief.
As soon as he heard you, Zhongli knew he had made a mistake and instantly rescinded his embrace; eliciting a chuckle from you.
âIâuh, forgive meâŚâ he hurriedly told you, his voice beginning to lose their strength as he stuttered and tumbled at the words he used to be so eloquent with. As someone who has prided of his calm demeanor, Zhongli felt a surge of embarrassment at how he easily succumbed to your touch.
It was so adorable to see him like this; all flustered and nervous, making you want to see more of those reactions you have yet to see.
âStay there. Iâll be right back,â you told him and stood up; an idea forming in your thoughts.
The moment you left; thoughts of things he mightâve done wrong kept repeating inside his head. He was scared that he mightâve crossed something which he shouldnât haveâthe sounds of you rummaging through your belongings only exacerbated the nervousness that was already in his system.
However, you were not gone for long. He could sense you behind him, daring not to move or look back, and as soon as you draped a cold silk cloth over his eyes, he instantly realized what he had eagerly signed up for.
For one, as the Geo Archon, it was unimaginable for him to be in such a position, but for some reason, Zhongli found it incredibly arousing to have him at your mercyâto be restricted and ordered around; to be at the other end of the spectrum from what he was used to?
This is strange indeedâŚ
âDonât you agree that everything feels more vivid when youâre blindfolded?â you asked, now back on his lap; and despite being robbed of sight, he could tell you were smirking. âDoes it feel good, Zhongli?â
âIâŚI cannot be certainâŚâ he replied, the feeling of your intense stare sending shivers down his spine. âI havenât experienced something like this beforeâŚâ
At his hesitation, you could only giggle and gave him a small kiss. âWell, thereâs a first for everything, but this one hereâŚâ
Your voice trailed off, your hand effortlessly finding his half hard dick and pressed on it harshly; eliciting a strangled moan from him. âItâs been feeling good for a while now, donât you think so Zhongli?â
âIâŚIâ!â He was at a lost for words; the pleasure he felt intoxicating his mind. You were right, the blindfold seemed to heightened his senses to such degrees of vividness.
âI canât blame you really,â you told him, still toying with his member with your finger but not fully committing on pumping it up and down. âI did tell you to hold off for a month, of course, youâd be unusually sensitive and horny.â
If Zhongli thought his face was hot enough before, he hadnât anticipated for it to feel full out burning as if his blood was set on fire. He tried holding off the sounds he was making whenever you pepper kisses on his shoulders, but to no avail. He was gradually becoming heady at the immense pleasure your hand was giving. By the time you continued talking, he was already panting heavily, skin flushed and hands balled so tightly into a fist, his knuckles turning white.
âY-YNâŚâ He wanted to say âtoo muchâ, but he didnât want to stop you either.
âIâm impressed you can keep your hands to yourself,â you remarked playfully, rewarding him with a love bite just underneath his jaw. âWhy donât we move on to the actual thing itself?â
Even with the blindfold, Zhongli could feel you standing up; anticipation once again beating wildly against his chest. What were you going to do to him this time?âthat was a thrill he had never expected to feel pleasure from.
You returned once more to his side, now with the appropriate items you needed, and brilliant grin on your lips to top it off. It was weirdly exciting for you as well, finally doing something as erotic as this to a dignified gentleman such as Zhongli. Which is why, you couldnât help but talk him through it.
âI did tell you that shibari some sort of sexual play, right?â you began, as you seized both of his hand and pinned them on his back. âIt involves tying someone up with rope, in patterns that are not only visually pleasing but are also designed to make you feel good.â
Zhongli could feel the roughness of the rope cling to his skin as soon as you tied his wrists together before doing various knots up his torso and down to his legs. It was incredibly strangeâyou were only tying him up but for some reason, he felt so exposed and so turned on.
âThe reason why itâs so popular is because it gives a sense of security if you will,â you continued, remembering the patterns you had religiously practiced over and over again for the past month. âAs if you were surrendering everything to that one person, trusting that they can give you security, give you pleasure. That is what this art form is.â
Every time he felt your soft hands brush against his damp skin as you tightened the rope around his body, he would control a shudder that kept on surging through him like a multitude of waves. This was beyond the ordinary, a situation Zhongli had not anticipatedâyou were right when you told him to prepare himself. He definitely did not heed your advice, and it came to him with a price, especially when you finally wrapped some rope around his dick as it stood straight and hard between his legs.
âIf only you could see yourself right now, Zhongli,â you told him, pressing firmly on the ropes around his member before nibbling on his earlobe. âAah, I just want to eat you up.â
With your sultry voice directly sending shockwaves down his lower parts, he could only dig his fingernails on the palm of his hands as the hemp ropes dug deeper in his skin. Even though they were not too tight, the restrictive sensation enveloping his body, plus the way you were touching him now was making him lose his mind.
âYNâŚYNâŚp-please, Iâ!â
He spoke between gasps as he felt your lips suckle on a sensitive point on his neck, his dick twitching as he tried to jerk up.
You hummed amusingly. âWhat is it, love? Where do you want me to touch you?â
Raking up your fingernails up his toned chest, you smirked as he groaned, unable to find any sort of friction he had been seeking for some time now. The way his long dark locks stuck to his skin because of how much he was sweating, or the way he trembled and shivered at every touch of his skinâyou loved them all. As much as how Zhongli was intoxicated by pleasure, you were also heady with the power you had over him.
Not waiting for his answer, you crept your hands up and suddenly pinched his nipplesâmaking him jolt straight up at the abrupt stimulation with a loud moan.
âDo you like it here?â you asked, now lavishing your tongue over a hardened nub; relentless and teasing.
âAhhâŚ! YNâŚ! Wait, please!â
All of his thoughts had already vanished, replaced only by the sensations of your tongue on his now sensitive nipples, of the ropes wound tightly around him, of how painfully hard his dick was. It felt good, he had to admit it. It felt incredibly good.
âDo you want me to stop? I can always stop,â you asked, smiling. âIf not, tell me where else I should touch you.â
Breathless as his chest heaved, Zhongli tried to find the words he wanted to say even as his lips trembled.
âUmâŚplease touchâŚ.m-myâŚâ
He was blushing furiously, the word seemingly unable to pass through his lips.
âYour what, Zhongli?â you asked him again, almost cooing but inwardly laughing at how he just canât say the word âdickâ.
Biting his lip to stop it from quivering too much, it seemed like he really has to throw every sense of dignity he had in him just to relieve his arousal.
âM-myâŚpeâahh!!"
You pinched one of his nipples, pouting. âDonât you dare call it penis, or else I wonât let you cum. Now, as you were saying?â
If only his head wasnât too hazy from all the sensations stimulating him simultaneously, he wouldâve made a mental note to make you suffer at a later date, but right now, his brain was being ran by his dick.
âP-PleaseâŚYNâŚ! MyâmyâŚd-dickâŚI canâtâŚâ he forced between pants as his sweat made the ropes feel even tighter and his underwear feel even more sticky.
Smirking at your victory, you pressed a kiss on his lips, your hands finally removing his dick from the constraints of his underwear. You could feel him groan on your lips as you began to move your hand up and down, and making sure to reach his most sensitive spots.
âLook at you, getting this hard after being tied up,â you whispered to his lips, a grin plastered on your face. âI didnât know you were this dirty, Zhongli.â
âI-IâmâŚnot!â
He tried to deny it but you kept his mouth shut by squeezing his cock tightly.
âReally now?â you asked, voice low as you kept on pumping him, his voice becoming nothing but dirty noise. âAre you about to cum?â
âYNâŚ!â he growled, the ropes keeping his legs folded biting on his skin. âT-too muchâŚ.! IâmâŚ!â
Mercilessly, you continued to jerk him off as he crept closer and closer to climax. However, there he realized that the ropes around his member had gotten tighter, and the painful throbbing he felt was because he couldnât cum.
âOh? Did you find it out?â you asked, chuckling at the look of desperation so evident in his face. âIf you can endure this in a few more minutes, Iâll reward you. How about that?â
âN-no, noâŚ.! YNâŚp-please, I c-canâŚno longerâŚ.â Most of his words were incomprehensible, affected by the pleasure and the pain on his cock.
You hummed playfully once more. âDo you want me to stop then? You can always say the safe word, you know?â
âNo! W-waitâŚplease! I n-needâŚI canâtâŚ!â
âThen endure,â you replied, an idea blooming in your head. Your free hand then reached for the blindfold covering his eyes and unraveled it, allowing him to finally see.
However, he did not have time to recover when you immediately caught his attention.
âLook how hard you are, Zhongli,â you told him, his amber eyes blow wide by his current state. Yet strangely, the thought of him so aroused and at your mercy, only made him harder.
Laying down on the bed with your chest on the mattress, you looked up to him, his dick on your hands; your eyes reflecting mischief. âIf you can hold on for a few minutes, Iâll let you cum, alright?â
Zhongli only gazed down on you, face as hot as the sun and as red as beet. He watched as you took his dick in your mouth and began sucking him off. At the sensation, he instantly threw his head back. This was totally different from your hands. This was just incredible.
With lustful eyes, you watched him convulse before as you assaulted him with your tongueâsucking and licking at every sensitive point you knew. The underside and the tip were particularly sensitive and that was where you concentrated.
âA-ahhâŚ! OhâŚshitâŚYN!â he groaned, his deep voice and the way he was now cursing sent you reeling as well. âT-too goodâŚIâmâŚf-fuckâŚ!â
You chuckled, the vibrations on your throat making his dick twitch as you kept on bobbing your head. Gazing up, you both exchanged glances as you kept on sucking the tip; his eyes tightly closing at the intensity.
âAre you going to cum?â you asked before diving in once again, your hands secretly making their way underneath his underwear and finding his hole. âIâll help you.â
âW-waitâŚ! T-thatâs!â he jolted up yet unable to do anything but feel your fingers brushing around the rim.
Prodding at his hole, you enjoyed watching the pained yet lustful expression he was making on his otherwise stoic face. His eyebrows furrowed, his cheeks flushed pink, his mouth ajar as drool poured down his chin. It was fascinating, addicting. You canât help but tease him endlessly, relentlessly as he kept on moaning your name again and again as if under a spell.
âP-PleaseâŚ.let meâŚI canâtâŚIâm going toâŚ.Y-YNâŚ!â
Deciding that this was finally the limit of his first time, you cleverly untied the knot on his back which kept the rope around his pelvis secure, allowing it to loosen.
Still sucking him off and poking on his hole, you could feel him twitch inside your mouth, an indication that he was close.
âYNâŚ! IâmâŚ.ughhâŚc-coming!â
In a few pumps, Zhongli climaxed in your mouth; his warm cum on your throat. It was a bit too much, and a little thick so you were unable to swallow everything, allowing it to drip down your chin.
Released from his high, Zhongli couldnât believe he just had his biggest nut of his life after being tied up. It was in every ounce, shameful and embarrassing but it just felt too good for him to resist at all. Maybe it wasnât too much of a bad thought to do this once in a while.
Eventually, you loosened the ropes that were still on him and took note of the rope markings on his skin, reminding yourself to give him that special balm you got for this exact purpose. As soon as you released him, you pulled him to a deep kiss which he gladly reciprocated.
Unlike your previous ones, this kiss was one of concern and careâasking and answering questions that were difficult to convey. As your lips moved against each other, your chest began to warm and float, glad that you were able to deliver his request. When you both pulled away, the normal Zhongli was back; his eyes warm and lively.
âIâm glad it felt good,â you told him, cupping his cheek. âI was afraid I might hurt you or something.â
He only chuckled and gave you a pat. âI did tell you I can handle it.â
You sighed in relief, loving the way he was touching you. âSo, how about we sleepâ"
Zhongli however interrupted you, pushing you down the bed, pinning your wrists. He was smiling but you definitely knew you were screwed.
âI reckon it is time for me take my revenge,â he gazed at you, eyes turning feral. âNo one will be sleeping tonight.â

I used to be your guardian angel, but being a demon is the only way that I can be with you.
Guard and protect. Those are the only things that I should be doing as I stay by your side until your dying breath. Guard your heart so you could make the right decisions in life and help you with your choices. Protect you from all kinds of harm so you can live a long happy life until your time finally comes.
You just turned ten years old when you were assigned to me, I just turned thirteen at that time. I even sang you a happy birthday together with the others during your celebration. I was beside you when you blew the candle and listened to your wish. From there on itâs always been you and me, we pretty much grew up together.
I guide you with your decisions every day, protect you inside and outside your home, and listen to your prayers. Oh, I love to listen to your voice whenever you pray. It calms me and your prayers are good proof that Iâm doing a great job as your guardian angel.
But as we grow up, you started making impulsive decisions that I donât have control with. You changed during your teenage years, you no longer pray and let me hear the sound of your prayers anymore. Iâm afraid you will no longer need me and that they will assign me to a new human after a few years.
When you were seventeen, you almost lost your virginity to someone whoâs not worthy. Iâm sorry but I have to meddle with that so I stopped it and gave the guy a piercing headache. I feel sorry for what Iâve done, truly. But he doesnât deserve you.
I feel bad about what I did so I seek guidance from my senior angel, Doyoung. I told him everything that I felt the moment I saw the guy enter your room and watch him kiss you and put his hands around your body. I told Doyoung that for the first time, I hated your smile because you like what the guy is doing to you.
Do you know what Doyoung told me? He said that Iâm starting to be unholy and have feelings for you. Â
And itâs true. Iâm starting to be more and more ungodly as I continue to watch you touch yourself every night with your fingers inside you, and instead of prayers, I hear moans from you every night. You started to have perverted desires which I canât help you with because Iâm an angel. Iâm completely aware that Iâm failing with my mission and scared to face my senior angels and keep me away from you.
If I lose you, I will be meaningless.
I sold my soul to the devil so I can be with you and follow you to a path full of desires.
Itâs still the same. Iâm still me but my job has no rules now and I can do whatever that pleases me to keep you in my life. Over the years of being a demon, I watch you now in a very different way. I watch you shower and get dressed, I watch you touch yourself with legs wide open as I masturbate beside you, I possessed every guy you have sex with and we always have a great time.
But I want more than this.
For many years, youâve already mastered the art of living alone and you are your own companion. Alone in the morning, alone at night. It is a lonely and tiring life, but still, you find comfort in being just with yourself. Â
Eating dinner alone in a fast food restaurant near your apartment has been your daily routine since the day youâve landed the job of being a real estate agent away from home. Selling houses left and right, having the luxury and time to flirt and enjoy one night stands, earning buckets and buckets of money, but still, you feel alone and incomplete.
As you were just about to start to dig in, your phone rang, it was your boss calling about 127 House. The haunted house thatâs been unoccupied for almost three years now and has been threatened to be taken down tomorrow and itâs part of your job to save it.
âSomeone is finally interested, were going to meet him at the office tomorrow. My assistant says itâs an anonymous buyer and we just have to wait for tomorrow to talk things outâ he explains excitedly. The sound of his voice was a little loud on the phone. Â
âThis is great newsâ you answered calmly, âI love that house thankfully were saving it. Have your assistant send me the details for tomorrow- Yeah, thank you!â
One of the many good things that you love about your job, is the happiness that comes with it when a house can be a home after being empty and cold for years. Haunted or not, just like a normal house, the 127 House deserves to be a home for a family. Â
After having dinner alone, you quickly reviewed some of the contracts for the anonymous client for tomorrow, reviewing your presentation one last time and finally letting out a big sigh, patting yourself on the shoulder, telling yourself âgood job.â It would be so great if someone can really say it in front of your face and actually getting a pat on the shoulder.
Thankful nonetheless because finally you have time for yourself and reward yourself with a nice shower. But even during your shower, you were spaced out and you kept thinking how itâs actually a miracle that the 127 House got a buyer a day before itâs going to be taken down. The house was beautiful, haunted but beautiful. It would be such a waste if it wasnât given a second chance.
âOh fuckâ you cursed when you realized you put too much soap on your body. As you were busy rinsing all the soap from your body, down to your legs until your toes, when you felt something touch your wet hair, and you turned around to see if something fell off from your rack but there's nothing, weird. You shrugged it off and continue rinsing your soapy skin, and finally putting shampoo on your hair. You close your eyes and massage your scalp, you love how the hot water feels against your skin and how it calms your nerves. Then again, you felt something touch your skin. But this time it ran up and down your slit and youâre sure it's not the hot water.
Quickly you ended your peaceful shower, reached for your towel, and prepare yourself for bed. Maybe it was hot water after all and you were just being paranoid and tired from work. The comfort your bed provides felt even more relaxing as you entertain yourself and scroll through Twitter for a moment, reading updates and seeing different trends then an interesting small clip of porn catches your attention. You watch it like a hawk and allow yourself to be aroused and turned on. Satisfied with the porn you just watched, you removed your shorts and underwear leaving only your thin oversized shirt, and proceed to touch yourself freely.
Sucking your point and middle finger, you played with your slit with your wet fingers running it up and down until you get wet real good. Teasing yourself before you proceed on putting it inside, you shamelessly spread your legs wider lifting your shirt so you could pinch your nipples while you make yourself feel good down there.
âYes, babyâ
You heard someone talk near you but thereâs no one in the room but you. You live alone. Not bothering about it anymore, you closed your eyes again and continue touching yourself. âOhhh babyâ you moan and feed your imagination that someone is making you feel good right now. You part your mouth and let out soft moans, kicking your blanket until it falls.
âOpen your eyesâ
âOwâ you suddenly felt something pinched your right nipple. You opened your eyes and stopped what youâre doing because the creepy things that are happening tonight are getting out of hand. You see a shadow of someone seated right beside you and you quickly grabbed anything you could cover your legs with for you feel so exposed in front of a stranger who could be a rapist.
âAre you getting shy? Baby?â
You open your lampshade with a slight panic and you see lustful eyes looking deep into yours. Whoever this person is, he looked angelic but what heâs doing right now says otherwise. âWe can talk after we fuck. Can you remove your shirt?â his surprisingly sexy voice made you gave in and followed what he asked for. âDonât be scared, alright?â he added.
With nervous hands, you nod and sat up immediately to remove your shirt and make yourself naked in front of the handsome stranger. Suddenly, heâs right beside you, naked and arms pillowing his head showing off his arms, cock hard already. Is this a dream? This has to be.
âIâm Mark. How do you want this? Do I fuck you or do you fuck me?â he asked confidently with a teasing smirk.
âI fuck youâ you said, since he looks so handsome laying in bed like that, the urge to ride your imaginary man is growing and growing and itâs making you hornier. Heâs like a magnet that invites you to straddle him and ride him until he's gone and you can finally rest.
âI donât think soâ he got up from his comfortable position and kissed your neck wildly holding your shoulders as he kisses you down to the mattress âDo you know what I am? Hmm?â his kisses were addicting and itâs making you weak like heâs sucking all your energy. He slaps your ass deliciously when you donât answer him, the sting stayed on your right ass cheek for a few seconds.
âA man from my dream?â you answered weakly.
âCorrect. And Iâm a demonâ the last word made you shiver and you tried to push him away, even tried kicking him but itâs useless. âWhatâs wrong? You werenât like this when you were moaning just a few minutes agoâ his deep voice scares the shit out of you but it makes you horny at the same time. This isnât right. To your surprise, he licks a long stripe on your neck and told you, âYouâre mineâ
He flips you on the mattress pinning your arms down with a force. âClose your legs tightly and donât fucking move, Iâm going to play with youâ you closed your legs and you feel him massage your ass cheeks telling you how theyâre perfectly soft and bouncy, teasing your cunt from behind and licking it until heâs satisfied and happy on how wet you are. Â
The position Mark put you in, made you even more harder to breathe and you canât move for your own liking. You feel him push his cock without caution, fucking you with closed legs as he loses his mind with how good you feel around him. You, on the other hand, is a moaning mess. Gasping and breathing much air for your life as you let the demon fuck you quick and rough. Mark put his entire weight on your back, resting his left cheek on your face, thrusting in your tight cunt as you whimper and grunt under him.
âOh baby, does it hurt?â he felt you nod your head and flinch whenever he gave you sharp thrusts. âShhh baby, I donât care. It feels good around meâ he said and reached for your lips for a soft kiss. The handsome demon continued giving you hard and piercing thrust until he came inside you, âNow slowly spread your legsâ you followed him weakly and you wished you didnât.
Spreading your legs for him just gave him a new angle that made you more sensitive. Unconsciously, you arched your back for him now making the demon happy and smirk as he pounds you from behind, âyou look so hot from up here, I might get you pregnantâ you moan out how good he feels and grip the sheets on your bed. By this time only the sheets and the mattress can understand how intense the sex is.
He cupped your boobs from behind with both hands, still fucking you good but even deeper this time. âOh please, this is too muchâ you cry out and beg but he never listens, he just gives you low chuckles. Low devilish chuckles.
When he finally stopped the good torture, you thought that was it, but youâre wrong. He stopped for a second and made you kneel against his chest and put his middle and point finger in your mouth and coat it with your spit, âtell me Y/n, do you want a baby? boy or a girl?â he removed his fingers and put it on your clit, drawing circles slowly as he enjoys listening to your whimpers while waiting for your answer.
âA boyâ you gasp sharply as you try your best to answer. His fingers are making you weak that youâre legs are already giving up, you just want to lay flat on the mattress. He put the same fingers again in your mouth, letting you taste your pussy juices.
âGreat choice. Want me to cum inside you, huhâ you nod at him not because you want it, but you just want to satisfy the demon and feel him pound against you deliciously again. He canât actually plant a baby inside you, right? This is a dream.
He pushed you on the bed and flipped you again, âPlease be gentle, I beg you youâre so bigâ you reached for Markâs face hoping that he has even a small ounce of mercy for you. Being underneath him like this made you realized that he is even more handsome up close, you bravely touched the soft skin of his face wondering how can someone or something looked so angelic on the outside but demonic on the inside. Â
As you admire the beauty of the demon on top of you, he made himself comfortable in between your legs kissing your body, and sucking your nipples just how you wanted. âOkay, since you asked so so so nicely babyâ he kissed you and proceeds to line his cock in your entrance, pushing in slowly and gently as you requested for the first time tonight. Giving you a few slow and gently thrusts, you moaned and smiled whiled he let you enjoy your request. You may not know, but the demon is admiring your smile, so he kissed those soft lips of yours once again. âNow, can I rough you up a little?â he sure has no patience. You have no other choice when he puts your arms around him, âIâll let you touch meâ Â
Thrusting hard again in no time, making your boobs bounce underneath him. Again, you whimper and asked for more this time. âCan I kiss you?â you asked with ragged breaths, he answered your question with a kiss, as if heâs letting you know that you can kiss him whenever you want to, in exchange for fucking you hard.
âYouâre mine from now onâ he repeats over and over again, hearing him grunt and moans like he was in pain but he was having a mind blowing orgasm. Shooting his cum inside you, looking at how fucked you are right now.
âWill I see you again? Tell me Iâll see you againâ you whine under heavy breathing.
Mark kissed your parted lips sweetly, âyou will, you willâ he answers you. Itâs like he has a switch or an off button for his rough attitude because heâs suddenly sweet. âItâs over now baby, you did great. Hmm.â he kept on kissing your lips until you have the energy to kiss him back. âThat was great right? We will be great parentsâ
I left Heaven for you and gladly I will leave Hell too.
I am a selfish demon.
My intention for you is to love you deeply every day for as long as I exist. You may not hear me tell you âi love youâ but my actions are good and enough proof that my love for you is real and I want to show more.
I no longer want to possess another human just so I can talk to you or have sex with you. I no longer want to meet you secretly in your dreams and remain as your imaginary man. I want to wake up beside you and see your smile first thing in the morning, to be able to exist and be part of your life completely, walk on the streets hand in hand and live a full life with you.
Itâs too much to ask, I know. But itâs not a bad thing.
As I watch you grow as an adult, you became more and more lonely, incomplete, and unsatisfied with the things you have in your life. I can make you happy Iâm sure of it.
And giving you a baby is something that can make you need me or can make you want me to stay and be part of your life. Iâm sorry.
But Iâm a selfish demon and all I wanted is to be with you.
The sound of your phone ringing woke you up from a disturbingly nice dream. Another call from your boss about 127 House, today is the day that the house will finally be saved. As you stretch your body in bed, itâs weird how you feel so sore and tired when you perfectly remember sleeping early last night and had the weirdest dream in your life. The sex from the dream played like a movie picture in your head, the handsome face of the demon is engraved in your mind, âMarkâ you whispered as you remember his name and how he kissed you oh so sweetly while he was telling you that youâre going to be great parents.
Knowing that itâs just a dream, you shrugged it off and started your day with a nice coffee and light breakfast, reviewing your presentation on the side for later, making sure that everything you say about the house will not make the buyer turn their back.
Another day at the office is another annoying day with your boss, which is also your ex boyfriend. Yuta is a good proof that you donât know how to be with someone else other than yourself because youâre used to being alone that you donât let other people inside your life. And yet, you feel lonely and you still want to try. Yuta is a great guy, but the problem is not him, itâs you.
âWell you look beautiful⌠and glowingâ he greets you with his perfect smile before you two enter the empty and cold conference room. He recognizes that glow, and it hurts his pride that youâre fucking somebody else and not him. Even though itâs clear to him that youâre not together anymore, he still thinks he owns you.
You smiled back at him and proceed to prepare your things before the client comes in. Itâs obvious that something is bothering Yuta, you wanted to ask him but youâre afraid to give him the wrong idea about you being concerned. So you focused your mind elsewhere and did not mind him further.
âAh! Mr. Lee, welcome. Please take a seat. May I introduce you to one of my finest realtor, Ms. Y/n. Leave everything to herâ
The client is facing Yuta and all you can see is his handsome figure from behind, nice ass, you thought. You put up a smile and ready yourself to shake hands with the client that will save the 127 House. âHi Mr. Lee-â
It was truly an unexpected moment. You will never forget that angelic face that you admired so much in your dream. You try to hide your uneasiness and remained professional as you shake hands with Mr. Lee and proceed with your presentation.
During your presentation, you canât stop thinking of the man with the same face and angelic features as Mr. Lee, fucking you senseless in your dream. It was just a dream but as you dive in more to the memory, you can almost feel the wet kisses that he left on your neck, the way he hurt you so good stretching your cunt, and his amazing duality after the sex. ââŚand that is all for 127 House, which will all be yours after we schedule you for a private tour so can see for yourself-â
âTell me Ms. Y/n, do you like this house?â
âItâs one of our best, of course, sir-â
âNo. I mean. Do you see yourself smiling and completely happy if you happen to own the 127 House?â
Itâs a question that you canât answer on the spot but come to think of it, yes, having a family with a big house to call it home isnât such a bad choice in life. But for now, having a family is not on your cards clearly because youâre single at the moment and youâre not ready to have a family of your own. To answer your clientâs question, âYes, sir. I think the 127 House will change my life upside down, in and out if I happen to own it. My future children will have such beautiful homeâ you smiled awkwardly at him, hoping that your answer finally satisfies him.
âYouâre going to be a great parent,â he says with a teasing tone that you donât know what itâs for. You were sure that heâs smirking at you while Yuta explains the contract to Mr. Leeâs assistant and you were sure, that he has something to do with your dream. This canât be.
As Yuta finishes the meeting with a light note and had his secretary help Mr. Lee with the contract and money talk, you canât help but think about your future. A husband, your own house, having kids, all those things were floating in your mind. âIf you wanted the house you couldâve just told meâ Yutaâs voice brought you back to reality. The conference room was again empty and itâs you and Yuta were all thatâs left.
âWhat are you talking aboutâ you fixed your things and try to avoid Yutaâs presence.
âWe couldâve been married and have kids you know,â he came close to you like heâs just about to kiss you.
âAnd I broke up with you for a reason, that I donât love you anymore. Stop hurting yourself Yu, were fine now donât ruin thisâ hearing that made Yuta remember the night you broke up with him. Still hurt like hell he thought.
You left him in the conference room and went back to work, went on with your usual day at the office. Busying yourself further and finishing loads of tasks before you head home. But despite your busy day, you kept on thinking about Mr. Lee over and over again, and that demon in your dream who had sex with you and told you about being great parents. Something is connecting the demon and Mr. Lee but you canât point out what exactly.
As much as you want to deny the clues and just move forward with your life, your gut tells you that theyâre the same person and thereâs only one way to find out, ask the demon. But he never showed up again which leads you to your second option, contact Mr. Lee or his assistant. And as expected, theyâre out of reach. Itâs absurd, time wasting, and scary, but you would rather be scared of the truth than not knowing anything at all.
Night after night, you hopelessly wait for the handsome demon to visit you again. Secretly hoping that he will show up in your dream, even just for a minute no more no less, even if itâs just for sex, you just need to talk to him.
Work piles up and you continue to busy yourself selling houses, closing deals every week, watching couples be happy because they finally have a home, hoping that someday that could be you so you wonât get lonely in life. But with whom?
âYou look awful, are you okay?â thatâs what Yuta said instead of greeting you good morning and flirt with you like he normally does.
âYeah. I feel like shit, but Iâm fine. Maybe overworked, but Iâm fineâ itâs true, you donât usually get sick because of overworking but this is different. You feel weak and tired even if you got enough sleep. Heck, even if youâre not working youâre still tired and dizzy. âSo I was thinking some of the major points for the campaign-â
You didnât finish your sentence and left Yuta in your office and ran to the nearest restroom to throw up. It was not hungover, that part youâre sure, you donât get sick like whenever youâre tired from work. It doesn't make any sense. Then you realized, âfuck, Iâm lateâ and there's only one person or creature to blame. Mark, the demon.
Hot tears fall from your eyes as you flush the toilet, wipe your mouth, and gather your strength to come out of the cubicle. To your surprise, Yuta was just outside the lady's restroom, waiting for you and making sure that youâre okay. He has his own thoughts and if heâs being completely honest, heâs disgusted. How can you be so stupid? Getting yourself knocked up before you even get married?
âWhoâs the father?â he leaned on the door frame, arms crossed and already judging you.
âPlease Yuta not nowâ the last thing you need right now is your ex being unreasonable.
âAre you going to keep it? Iâm willing to pay for the abortion, I know youâre not yet readyâ thatâs it. That made you snap. Yuta is a nice person, but sometimes he doesnât know what heâs talking about and he constantly forgets his role in your life.
âHow dare you. Iâm speechless Yuta. You donât want this baby not because of the reason that Iâm not ready but for your selfish reasons, which Iâm not interested. Youâre my boss, can I leave early?â
Of course, Yuta didnât take it well. His pride was hurt, the baby is like an ending note for the both of you. The meaningless conversation with Yuta lasted for almost half an hour, itâs like a never ending loophole whenever you talk to him about personal issues and you hate it. With or without Yutaâs permission, you went home and take care of yourself. The pregnancy test made it official and once again, you feel lost and lonely more than ever. How can the demon do this to you? Is this some kind of joke? Or maybe youâre just a one time thing for him.
Hoping that everything will be fine once youâre all well rested, you decided to sleep it off and try to fix and handle things when you wake up. The moment you closed your eyes, you feel wet kisses all over your exposed shoulders. You even felt the bed dip as if someone joined you to bed and shared their warmth.
âBaby Iâm hereâ Mark whispers, trying to wake you up. It may not feel like it, but you were sleeping for two hours already. âYouâre not just a one time thing for me" he added.
His hot breath woke you up, and finally seeing the handsome demon again unexpectedly made you feel better and welcomed him with a warm hug. Even Mark was shocked but he accepts your hug and returned to you even more warmly. His skin is hot, or maybe thatâs just his warmth. He smelled like cinnamon, hot afternoons, did he just came from hell and went straight to your apartment? Â
âI didnât show up for days because I wanted to make sure you wanted to see meâ he disturbed your thoughts. Putting your hair away from your face and leaving light feathery kisses on your lips.
âMark, Iâm pregnantâ you finally blurted out. Curious about what heâs going to react.
âAnd?â he was avoiding eye contact not because heâs shy, but because he canât believe he can admire you closely like this and you finally know he exists. âCan we fuck first then talk later?â
You still have a lot of questions for him but he never gave you answers and it frustrates you. Itâs been weeks since the last time you saw each other and heâs thinking about fucking right now. Unbelievable. âNot having sex with you until you tell me answers,â you said as gentle as possible, not wanting the demon to leave you empty handed again.
He just chuckled. Well, at least heâs not leaving yet because heâs starting to spread kisses all over your exposed skin. Feeling those incredible lips again makes you even more relaxed, his hands all around your sides roaming softly. You canât believe youâre finally letting him in without boundaries.
âShow me your tits,â he said, lifting your thin shirt so easily.
âIf I showed you my tits will you stop and finally have a decent conversation with me?â
âIf you showed me your tits, baby I wont' stop. Iâm here to remind you that youâre mineâ he said heavily breathing from the hungry kiss biting your ears, your neck, and your lips. You pushed him away for a moment but it was a gentle push. You didnât want to piss him off.
His hands are ready to push your bra down, heâs just waiting for you to let go and stop being a bitch. You figured you got nothing to lose so you grabbed his face and kissed him like how you missed him. Putting his hands on your boobs, guiding his hands to push down your bra and show him your tits. âThatâs my girl,â he said in between kisses, feeling his warm smile before he pulls away and finally looks at your tits. âMine,â he said, before licking a long stripe from your left nipple up to your chest, neck, and ends on your lips. Kissing you passionately before he does it again with your right boob. âLift your chestâ you followed what he said and you felt him unclasp your bra swiftly, It was a sign to remove your shirt and help him undress you.
Both naked in bed kissing like a loving couple, Mark decided to go a little easy on you tonight. After all, roughing you up is not part of his plan and purpose of his visit. He goes on top of you, lips still not leaving yours. âDid you miss me?â he asks, you can only answer using your hungry kisses. You feel his hand travel up and down your body oh so softly youâre starting to get ticklish that your lips parts because of his soft touches, he puts your panties in your mouth and your eyes widened in shock.
âIâm going to go easy on you tonight, donât worryâ he says. Mark looks handsomely scary and filthy right now in between your open legs licking your boobs and brushing his hand on your nipples making you sensitive. He reaches for your hand to suck your fingers good while looking directly in your eyes. You rolled your head back on your fluffy pillows, moaning and whimpering, letting your ruined panties in your mouth muffle the sounds that youâre making. If this was his idea of going easy then youâre fucked.
Mark letâs go of your left hand so he can touch your pussy while kissing your lower abdomen. Your hips roll uncontrollably and Mark likes the sounds that youâre making. He kneels in front of you and grabbed your free hand to pump his cock, play with its tip before he goes in. He lines his cock to your entrance and pushed in one hard thrust. Since your mouth is occupied, you can only hear Markâs grunts while fucking you hard in the first few thrusts. It was too much, you were in tears. Sobbing and whimpering from the hurt. He noticed it. He removed your panties from your mouth crashing his lips to yours the moment he threw your wet panties away. âThat was hot right?â He continues to kiss you wildly while giving you merciless thrusts. You try to breathe and catch your breath but he won't let you, âMark, pleaseâ you call him out weakly.
âNo, baby. Youâre doing perfect donât disappoint meâ he kissed and kissed you until both of your lips are swollen. Thrust and thrust in your pussy until your boobs bounce nonstop and youâre on edge. The moment you reached your orgasm, Mark kissed you softly but he never stopped fucking you. You smiled at him, reaching for his face for another sweet kiss, helping him catch his sweet release.
He gave you three piercing thrusts that hurt so bad but felt so good before he pulls out and came on your pussy lips. Spreading white thick fluids all over your folds, and going in for the last time for his own satisfaction and pullout again quickly. It was a quick stretch that hurt but it was bearable.
He lay down beside you, spooning you and kissing your shoulders. Running a finger on your nipples as you both calm down and enjoy your fluffy bed and soft pillows. âAs always you did goodâ he cuddles with you in bed, something you didnât see coming. Even though heâs all scary and rude heâs capable of being sweet and you love it.
âHow about that talk you owe me?â you kissed his neck as a way of returning the favor for making you feel good.
âLetâs go on a date. I want to do this right, itâs never my intention to scare youâ
âYouâre naturally scary, you donât know that?â he smiles and made his one arm as his pillow so he can look at you properly.
âIâll stop the baby from growing. For now. One date Y/n, and if you still hate me itâs over between us. The baby⌠the baby is my only way so I can stay with you foreverâ Â
Weird. The idea of Mark leaving you doesnât sound so good. And to be honest you want to spend more time with him. He nuzzles your armpit making you laugh and giggle and at the same time. Heâs cute when he's in the good mood.
âYou could have asked me to go on a date first before you knocked me up,â you kissed his cheek and watch him roll his eye at you. Handsome. So handsome you thought.
âNo. Having a baby will be our priority. Please, let's be happy. I can change your lifeâ
Unfortunately, as you listen to the handsome demon confess his feelings for you, you suddenly thought about Yuta. Your ex wanted the exact same thing and things didnât go well between you two. Thereâs something different about Mark that makes you want to try and work this family thing out with him. Even if heâs a demon if he can love you unconditionally, well having a family with him isnât so bad.
But still, you need time. And getting you pregnant first before building an established relationship is too much.
I knew you will not take it easily, and it's fine by me I have all the patience in the world.
I'm selfish but I canât force you to love me and your love, thatâs what I want. Thatâs why I have to win you. Even if going on dates isnât my best way to make you fall in love with me, itâs the right thing to do.
Yes, I can force you to stay in my house with that baby, but being together without loveâŚwell, whatâs the point of it?
Now, Iâm sorry for getting you pregnant first. Iâm desperate. I long for you. Youâre like a dream that Iâm willing to do everything just so you can come true. Â
The most awaited dinner was full of flirting, low giggles, and honest talk. You insist on knowing him more and youâre more than happy to introduce yourself but he seems like he knew you all too well. âThereâs nothing much to know about meâ he takes a bite from his steak, âBut let me be honest and I hope I won't scare you⌠I used to be your guardian angelâŚâ
You listen to the whole story of the truth on how he used to be your guardian angel and became a demon because you embraced such pleasures in life. He told you how he fell in love with you even more when he became dark, he said that it felt good that there's nothing holding him back. âBelieve it or not, I was your first. I couldnât stomach watching you have sex with anyone else other than meâ he explained further how he possessed every guy you had sex with and you find it amusing how heâs completely possessive when it comes to you.
âSo Yuta?â
âOh no no, not him. He has his own demon I canât possess him. And that was my breaking point. When you two were together, I was broken, I feel abandoned and I secretly hope that you two break up, then it happened and I have nothing to do with it I promise. So now Iâm here, taking my chanceâ
You question him further about your life, asking him about the things you only knew about yourself, things that only your family can answer, and not even your closest friends. Not because you doubt his honesty, but only because it's amusing to listen to him. All this time you werenât alone. All these years of believing that youâre alone, little did you know you have Mark. The things that heâs telling you does not make you feel weird, itâs like youâre talking to a long lost friend who knew everything about you.
Itâs amazing how heâs a demon but his honesty amazes you as heâs not capable of lying. Maybe he has something left from being an angel? Nonetheless, you see nothing wrong with giving him a chance to give you happiness. âStill you could have been honest first and take me on a date before you- you knowâ
âNo, I need you to need me. Thatâs the only way. Iâm here on a date with you because I canât win you by playing tough, maybe I can win you by playing nice. So please stop hating me about the baby. I really want it with youâ he reached for your hand on the table and caressed it with his thumb.
âI donât hate you, Mark in fact I like you, I really do but the baby is too much. We can still try and be in a relationship without having a babyâ
âJust give us a chanceâ he winked at you and continue eating his steak. Â
As you two continue the wonderful dinner and setting aside the baby talk for the rest of the night, he filled your heart with wonderful promises that youâre looking forward to seeing him do. And while he was talking, you noticed how your heart skip a beat when he raises his eyebrows and smirk. Handsome demon, thatâs what he is.
During the car ride which you donât know where heâs taking you, he never let go of your hand, kissing the back of it whenever he can and making you giggle with his spontaneous sweetness. âWhere are you taking me? I thought youâre going to drive me homeâ
âI am. Were going homeâ You turned silent when you saw the beautiful white house from afar. He brought you to 127 House. âI bought this house because you were desperate to sell it. Also, thatâs why I asked you if you see yourself being happy owning the houseâ he added and kissed your hand again.
The house is even more beautiful at night, Mark let you admire the house as he follows you and watch you with full admiration. You love what he did to the house, rather than a mansion with a plain interior he made it look like itâs ready to be a home for a family. What you see is not a demon who manipulated you, Mark is a desperate man whoâs willing to try to make you happy and whoâs desperate to have a family of his own with the woman that he loves. You.
âWelcome home?â he says.
âItâs too early for that Mark, I like you but how can you be so sure about this?â his confidence amuse you.
He scoffed and raised his eyebrows on you, caging you with a warm embrace from behind as you two watch the calm water on the pool outside. âYou sound like I havenât fucked you already. Iâm confident about this. Welcome homeâ he repeats and planted a kiss on your temple. A simple gesture that makes you happy.
As you two enjoy the comfortable silence while swaying side to side for some time, you feel his hot breath tickling the back of your neck, giving you a shiver that goes straight to your spine. Youâre familiar with Markâs presence already. A presence you always crave, something you always want near you. âWhat do you want to do next, beautiful?â he asks, kissing your neck and making your knees weak.
âCan we have normal sex? Without you fucking me in my dreams? Can you do that for me?â
âOf course. From now on, no more having sex in your dreams and no more possessing other humans. Itâs just me nowâ he reaches for your lips, turning your body so you could kiss properly. You feel safe in his arms, which made you realize that he has done so much for you.
âMaybe itâs time for me to give back, Markâ he smiled, motioning you on his huge couch.
âWhat do you have in mind?â he removes your shoes and made you sit on his lap.
âI can start by,â you kiss him slowly on his neck, cup his face but heâs quick to kiss your hand softly, âI can start by being on top tonight, let me make you cum for as many as you want?â he chuckled low and nod his head. He sat there looking devilishly handsome, letting you do what you want as he watches you with lustful eyes.
I never thought that the date will work out and quite frankly, Iâm thankful for our date. Itâs the first night that I felt that I could actually be part of your life. For the first time, I feel like Iâm a man and not just a fallen angel or a demon.
The way you kissed on my neck, when you smile whenever our eyes meet, how you touched me and kissed my body, the feeling of your fingertips dancing around my skin. Itâs addictive. It almost felt like our first time having sex. The night I took your virginity, I couldnât have enough of you that I keep on asking for another round if you remember.
And oh! When you held my hand while you roll your hips slowly, It was life changing Y/n.
Thank you for giving me a chance to prove my love further to you.
After having a few rounds on the couch and his huge bed, Mark is now watching you sleep beside him. Caressing your face softly as he turns this moment into a special one because his dream of sleeping beside you with his whole being finally came true. âIâm so in love with you,â he says before drifting to sleep. Â
Welcoming the demon in your life was the best decision you ever made even though the baby part is still blurry. Nonetheless, Mark made you feel loved every day in many different ways. May it be through his sweet words, making love to you instead of fucking hard, holding your hand while you two watch a scary movie, or whenever he sings to you after learning a new song. For a demon who came out of hell, heâs a little sweet and romantic.
He also adapted well to this world, even found out that his eyesight is poor and that you have to get him a pair of glasses. And as he stays in this world loving you, his love for watermelons and playing with his guitar grew stronger each day too.
Seasons change and years pass by like a snap of your finger, you and Mark stayed happily together in 127 House and make it a home, even if itâs just the two of you. He made you so happy in life that you forgot life before he came. Â
âWhere did you find that handsome guy?â your best friend asks you while sheâs slicing her sonâs birthday cake. You help her with the plates while you answer every question she throws.
âDating appâ you lied and laughed at her to shut her up.
âI know thatâs a lie but I donât care. That man makes you happier than ever. What is he an angel or something?â If only she knew.
You watch Mark play with other kids, tickling their tummies as he giggles with them. Being a father suits him well and you bet he still dreams of becoming one. You almost feel sorry about it because you canât give the only thing he asks for.
When you got home and now that Mark is balls deep inside you while you ride him deliciously, your head is not there. You kept on thinking about something and of course, Mark is quick to stop doing what heâs doing. âHey your mind is so noisy and cloudedâ heâs no complaining, heâs worried about you because he can hear you but can't understand you. âTalk to me baby, whatâs wrong?â
You lean forward to him and rest your forehead on his chest, readying yourself to finally tell him that, âI want to have a babyâ
For a moment it was dead silent while you two look each other eye to eye but soon he sat up and hug you, making you moan because heâs still deep inside you. He showered you with kisses, crying tears of joy because now his life is finally complete.
âI love you. And Iâm sorry for keeping you away from being a great dad-â
âYou did nothing wrong. Stop apologizingâ he cups your face and kissed you deeply, pulling you back on the mattress to continue what you two were doing but this time itâs for a purpose.
During your pregnancy, youâve never seen Mark so happy.
He was by your side like the guardian angel that he used to be. Taking care of you all the way from sun up to sun down. Youâve never thought that your pregnancy will be bearable, full of happiness and laughter because of a demon who fell in love with you.
Everything was going too fast, the next thing you know is youâre already seven months pregnant and Mark is staring at your tummy for almost five minutes as he waits for his baby to kick and your tummy move and be amazed over and over again. Youâre starting to doubt if heâs really a demon. âOh! See that! He kicked!â you laughed at him as he holds your tummy with both hands and spread kisses on it. Â
Things were going smoothly until the day has finally come and youâre at the delivery room fighting for your life. Quite literally. The doctors are having a huge problem pulling your baby out of your belly and they needed Mark to get out of the room because the situation became serious. He was about to lose you and the doctors want him out, of course, Mark wants to cause a scene. But he knew better. The last memory you had before closing your eyes was the door closing on Mark as he canât do anything about it. Through a glass window, Mark sees everything that the doctors are doing to you. He wanted so bad to hold your hand so you know that you still have to fight for your life and the babyâs life.
When the baby is finally out, he was so happy to see his baby for the first that heâs sobbing and whimpering. Murmuring even that you need to wake up because finally, the baby is here. The smile painted on Markâs face was priceless. But not for long. He knew that thereâs something wrong when the doctors were staring at the baby, waiting for it to cry. Markâs world turned black when he watches the doctor shook his head in front of him.
It was life changing.
The once happy home for you and Mark became a place so cold and gloomy as if happiness never touched the 127 House. As youâre struggling with depression, Mark embraced his anger and caused chaos everywhere. Not giving a fuck what happens to anyone because nothing can compare to the sadness that heâs feeling. It all happened for a year, which changed your relationship into small talks and cold nights. Like you two have broken up but you still live under the same roof.
But the demon loves you so much that he tried everything to pick himself up and take care of you. Your relationship was too precious for him and realized that itâs the only thing he has left. Slowly, you forgive yourself and tried to live again. Patience keeps on growing as you and Mark chose to love each other deeper and move on with whatâs left with your life.
After having several check-ups, taking every advice that the doctor says, and finding out that itâs safe for you to have a baby again, you and Mark gave it another chance without hesitating. Now, youâre six months pregnant and life is slowly becoming happy again.
âLong time no seeâ Itâs his demon best friend, Haechan. He appeared out of nowhere while Mark is having some fresh air on the balcony. Mark waits for his friend to talk, raising an eyebrow at him. âJust here to let you know that your Y/n has a new guardian angel since youâve been so busy being a humanâ
âFuck- No wonder our life is so messed up right nowâ
âDonât let it kill your baby againâ and just like that Haechan is gone before Mark could even ask him more about this guardian angel.
When you become a parent, your child will automatically be your prize possession. But for Mark, he has two people dear in his life. Two people. Thatâs all he has. And heâs not going let that angel kill his baby again and make you suffer.
Mark stick to you like glue, and you noticed that he has been even more protective than ever. âIâm going to be fine, Mark. What are you so afraid of?â you kiss him before you head to the bathroom to take a pee. This part of Mark thatâs so paranoid is freaking you out and scaring you sometimes. Like heâs not telling you something or heâs hiding something from you.
Mark continues to protect you from that angel, and day by day heâs becoming even more afraid of what might happen to you. If that angel is capable of killing something precious, then who knows what else can it do to harm you further.
âDo you miss being an angel?â you asked Mark while you two lay in bed closely.
âNoâ he answers without hesitating.
âDo you have wings back then?â
He chuckled low and intertwines his fingers with yours, âWeâve been together for many years and youâre asking me this just now? But yes. I did. And it hurt like hell when they took it off. But I was happy afterward, it simply means I can finally be with youâ his happiness is evident because his smile is so bright.
âIâm sorryâ you donât know why you apologized, but maybe you just want to.
âFor making me the happiest demon? Oh come on, âI love you, Markâ is so much betterâ he was acting cute and his charms still work on you.
âI love you, Markâ
âThanks. I knowâ you smack his shoulder playfully, making him laugh and tell you, âI love you too, Y/n. You know thatâ
There's nothing wrong with being positive in life again after going through so much pain or after losing your first baby. Thereâs nothing wrong with that. As you and Mark wait for your due date, days have been beautiful while you wait for the baby. You are healthy, the baby is healthy, even Mark is healthy. You really think that this is going to be different than the first. Different in a beautiful way.
When the day finally comes, you were smiling and quite excited as Mark stays by your side the whole time. He was holding your hand, helping you to breathe, and fight to achieve that happiness with you. âBreathe with me, everything will be fine,â he says, smiling so handsomely in front of your eyes. You wanted to tell him that you love so much, thank him for changing your life but saying things like that while you're pushing to bring out the baby is kind of out of the scene. So you gave him a weak smile instead.
When the doctor had finally held the baby you and Mark were so happy because you were so close to being a family now.
But youâre slowly getting weak and he watches your smile fade and your eyes close.
âDoctor we are losing here!â the nurse exclaimed. Everything is happening again, Mark thought. As he watches the doctors and the nurses do everything they can to save you, Mark stood there quietly knowing all too well how dying works.
âY/n, you canât die. Itâs not your time yetâ he said a little too loud while standing like a statue. He used to be your guardian angel, of course, he knew things like this. âY/n, you will be fineâ he exclaimed again but this time there were tears in his eyes and his voice broke.
Time suddenly stopped and the scene was oddly familiar to him, thereâs an angel inside this room to bring your soul to Heaven. âNo, noâ. he murmurs with tears in his eyes, looking around the room waiting for the angel to appear. âI know youâre hereâ he turned around multiple times until your new guardian angel appears. Doyoung.
âHow many babies should I bring to heaven to make you stop? Look what you made me doâ Doyoung said, âItâs not her time yet but this is the only way to keep her away from you. Itâs an angel baby, Mark! You know that angels are not allowed to be born other than the insides of Heaven. Itâs dangerous to expose divinity in the eyes of humans. What were you thinking?â
âI did not know- please bring her back. Iâll do anything you wantâ Mark begs his old friend, crying and whimpering like a little boy. If only he knew from the start he wouldnât have got you pregnant in the first place and watch you suffer two times. Now heâs mad at himself.
âItâs too late old friend, Iâm just doing my jobâ
And even before Mark could beg more, time turned back to normal and the doctor had announced the time of your death.
What better way to be punished after betraying Heaven and Hell by taking the love of his life. Of course, the heavenly creatures will bring you to Heaven because they knew all too well that Mark canât enter the silver city again. Â

Mr. Protector Man
There were only a few weeks left of your summer before you returned for Hogwarts for the final time, at least as a student. Your years at Hogwarts had been filled with twists thanks to the appearance of one Harry Potter, but you really couldnât complain. In fact, you were quite grateful for his appearance. With someone with a more famous name than yours, you could finally move out of the spotlight and into something that you could call confidence. Not that you were not a confident person, but the constant reminder that your father was a murderer didnât help in the whole âmaking friendsâ part of your life. Luckily, a pair of twins made their way into your life, and you could never explain how eternally grateful you were for their presence.Â
In your fifth year, however, the attention turned back to you when your father escaped Azkaban. It would have been terrible for you, had you not had Fred and George constantly reminding you of how incredible you were. Overtime, however, you grew more comfortable with the knowledge that your father was free, and when Remus met with you to tell you all that he had learned, you were ecstatic. Finally, you could say that your father was worth the love that you had stored away for him.Â
Your sixth year also brought about changes to your personality. You found that your confidence grew since people were no longer talking about you and your father. To say that you were grateful Harry was placed in the tournament was selfish, but you were happy to know that you could live your life without being put on trial for everything that you said and did because of your last name. Throughout that year, you were able to send a couple of letters to Sirius that were filled with your life story. He was thankful that you grew up to be happy and didnât suffer at the hands of muggles like Harry did. All he ever wanted for you was for you to be happy, so when the summer came around, he was stuck at Grimmauld Place, you jumped at the opportunity to finally be with your dad. There were people, those that will not be mentioned, who thought that this was a terrible idea, but Remus suggested that this would be a good opportunity for the both of you.
When you finally moved in, you were nervous to be around the man who was never there to raise you. There was a part of you that resented him, but you understood the circumstances and swallowed your pride. When he saw you for the first time, he practically burst into tears, and you didnât hesitate to launch yourself into your arms. You were both filled with joy at the thought of finally being able to become a sort of dysfunctional family. The rest of the day was filled with tears and laughter as he told you about his school days and you told him about yours. When Remus came to visit the happy family, he was shocked by how quickly you two got along. He thought there would be some awkwardness, but instead it felt as if the two of you had been together the whole time. He was delighted to see one of his oldest friends return to the world of the happy and see his smile be genuine.Â
When the Weasley family joined what felt like a party of two, you were even more excited than before, although you were slightly disappointed at the loss of time that was going to be spent with your father. Your routine had changed to accommodate the gingers, but worst of all, you had to keep things under control with George. Sirius was aware that you were seeing someone, but he chose not to think too much into it. It wasnât until he found the two of you cuddled up on the couch that he realized that your boyfriend was sleeping in the room right beside yours. Now, cue the protective father instinct, and you find Padfoot sleeping in the hallway between the two doors most nights. The problem with this logic was that Sirius was a deep sleeper, and so long as you didnât step on the poor dog, you could get away with just about anything. You easily tiptoed across his sleeping body to find your boyfriend. George was worried about making this move, so he often let you do it to avoid him losing his life.
With only a few days left, you found that you were beginning to worry about what school would be like when you got back. There were rumors spreading and false information making its way into headlines. Both you and Harry were at risk to some bad treatment from the school, but you just remembered all of the stories Sirius told you about his time at Hogwarts and tried to channel his cool energy. Sirius could sense your change in demeanor, but he chose not to question it. He even looked to George to see if he noticed it as well, and he was pleasantly surprised to see that your attentive boyfriend was indeed acknowledging these small changes. They both wrote it off as some before school jitters, but Sirius and George were still worried about you.
Now, fast forward to meeting the pink toad. Everything in your body ached at the sound of her shrill voice. More than anything, you wanted to throw something at her in hopes of finally shutting her up. It wasnât until your first class with her, that you really began to feel hatred bubble up inside of you. You were aware of how she mistreated others, especially Harry, so you tried to stay off her radar. Sadly, she was very aware of who you were and reminded you of it every chance she got.Â
âMiss Black, please put away your wand.â You grimaced at her voice but maneuvered your wand away from the view of the wretched woman. You sighed and started writing down the useless information from the book. Everything that was written down and published was nearly a lie. You put your head in your hand and continued to sketch down those ideas of what a useless institution called âdefense against the dark arts.â How was this even true? You lived with Remus and for a while with your father. Both people taught you defense knowing that your last name would be troublesome. This information was vital to your life, but this class was killing you slowly.Â
âAhem,â her voice made you want to shove the quill into your ears. âMiss Black, sit up straight and show some respect. It seems that you cannot act like a lady in this class. I will see you in detention tonight. Maybe then you will learn how not to act like the daughter of a murderer.â You scoffed, but you remained quiet. You thought back to your last talk you had with Sirius.
âYou know, there are still going to be people who will say things about me.â You sighed at your father.
âOf course I know. I know the truth though, and for now thatâs all that matters.â Sirius smiled at your commentary, but he knew that words about your family can hurt, especially when they are pointed at you. He was someone who was unaware of the comments that can be made. He was worried before you were born that his name would be troublesome, but there was never a time that he believed that it would be his own fault.Â
âI need you to understand that it is not your duty to defend me. The world will not believe the truth, especially given these times. They donât believe Harry or Dumbledore, which means that they are not going to believe you. Please, promise me that you will take care of yourself first.â You reluctantly nodded your head.
âFine, but Iâm not going to be happy about it. I hate being a reflection of a lie.â You wanted the rest of the wizarding world to know what an amazing man your father was. You wanted to be seen as more than the daughter of someone who murdered his friends without a second thought. You gave your father a hug and murmured a promise to him that you meant to keep.
As you stand before the door that led to the devil, you questioned why you would make a promise that constituted you to put yourself in danger and to lose all that you had worked so hard to maintain in your life. Your night was spent with a throbbing, bloody hand, and a single tear that was not for the physical pain, but the emotional loss you acquired by allowing this witch to have an impact.
The following weeks, you met with the toad in detention. Most of the time, they were small offenses that typically would go unnoticed by other professors. You kept your word to your father the entire time, despite the physical and emotional turmoil of these events. The word âinsubordinateâ stained your hand and was a constant reminder of how you felt. You felt useless and worthless. This didnât go unnoticed. George saw this change in your behavior. Your smile was forced, and your eyes were red with tears that he was certain met only your pillow. He knew that he had to take action. He felt terrible for doing something before, but he never knew how bad it was until he saw you that one night in the hallway.
You sat down on the ground and let your back trace the freezing bricks. You took your hand and wrapped it in a bandage, something you knew to bring with you now. You placed the wrapped hand against the wall, as a way to numb the stinging. You didnât let any tears fall. Instead, you stared ahead of you and drowned out any noises. That was how George found you. He walked over to you and sat down beside you. No words were shared in this exchange. He didnât know what to say or do to help, so he stayed by your side in silence, hoping that you would say something.
âIâm sorry that you have to see me like this. I will head back up to my dorm and get some sleep. You should too.â You stood up and placed a chaste kiss on cheek and walked briskly to your dorm. George watched your retreating form and realized that he failed to protect you like he wished he could. He made a promise to himself that he would not allow anything else to happen to you.
You were sitting in the great hall when George appeared beside you. He pulled you into his body and kept his arm over your shoulder. You forced another smile and tried not to get emotional. It felt strange to be held like you were so important to someone. George didnât let you go for a while. Then you both made your way to the classroom that was known to bring pain and grief to many of the students. You sat down and tried to keep your cool. No matter how hard you tried to not cause any trouble, the woman always found a way to bring attention to you in a negative light.
âMiss Black, you should know by now that I am not a fan of your attitude, but this is unacceptable.â You werenât even sure what she was lecturing you about. Honestly, you couldnât care less what the issue was.Â
âProfessor, I think you should be respectful of this girl. She has done nothing wrong. You just donât like her because you donât like her last name. You should mind your tongue.â Those harsh and direct words came from the mouth of the one person who would always have your back.Â
âMr. Weasley, I will see both you and Miss Black in detention. Now, sit down and do your work.â George scoffed and walked over to where you were sitting.Â
âI donât think so. This class is over for today as far as Iâm concerned.â His act of defiance came to a close with you being led out by him with a shocked look on the womanâs face.Â
âGeorge. George, stop it right now. We canât just walk out of class. We are going to get into more trouble.â As you two continued down the hall he stopped abruptly.Â
âNo Y/N. I am not going to stop. Youâre the one who needs to stop lying to me. You canât keep letting her have an effect on you. We both know that you are so much more than the reputation that comes with your name. Sheâs just jealous that you are more famous and pure than she ever will be. Sheâs a disgrace to the world. Not your dad, and most certainly not you.â His words brought the tears back. His love for you was unbelievably pure and unconditional.Â
As George watched you fall apart in front of him, he held you. You clung to him as if he was going to disappear if you let go. You both stood in the middle of this empty hallway without a care in the world. Neither of you were aware of how much time was spent there. Your tears started to dry, and your hiccups eventually dissipated, much to your appreciation. You two only became aware of your surroundings when the sound of footsteps echoed.
âMr. Weasley, Miss Black. Why arenât you in class?â You turned your head in the direction of Professor Mcgonagall. As she saw your tear stained expression, her face dropped. She assumed what the issue was. Throughout your years at Hogwarts, she saw a lot of Sirius in you. You reminded her of the chaos your father and his friends brought to school, but you also reflected his kindness and sincerity. There had always been some dissonance between you and some of the professors, but she had always had a soft spot for you. With the terror of the woman in pink, she could only assume that you and Harry were getting the brunt of it. The Weasley twins as well, but she suspected that they were intentional in their actions.
âSorry professor, but I couldnât sit there and listen to her talk to Y/N like that any longer.â
âPlease professor, it was my fault. Donât let George get in any trouble for protecting me.â You couldnât handle knowing that you were the reason George was in trouble two times in the span of an hour with two different professors.
âDid you two receive detention from her?â You both nodded. âWell, I will make sure that it is spent with me instead. Now, I donât expect you to return to that class, but please try to be punctual to the others. Oh, and Miss Black, donât let her words get to you. We both know the truth.â She offered you a smile and assured you both that she would see you in her office for detention, which you both know would not be a real detention.Â
That night, you sat by George and talked. For the first time in too long, the two of you discussed how you were feeling.Â
âY/N you know that your name is not a representation of you. Her words are nothing more than a jealous filled disgust. She holds the opinion of the ministry who refuses to acknowledge the truth of our times. But I need you to come to me if she ever says or does anything to you when I am not around. I will always do what I can to be there for you because you are worth the world.â You shifted to move closer to his body, and you nodded. You were grateful to him for being there as your voice when you couldnât be there for yourself.
âThank you Georgie for being there for me. I love you so much.â He chuckled quietly.
âI love you too, but this wasnât a one time thing. I am here to be your hero, which I have already proved to be earlier, if I might add. You and I are going to do this together, and Iâm not going to let her hurt you anytime soon. I will, however, be working with Fred to get some revenge going. You are welcome to join me, but you canât be out in the field with us. Iâm not going to let you get caught, and get into more trouble. Understood?â
âYes George, I understand.â You giggled. âMr. Protector Man.â
âThat was all you came up with? Iâm ashamed.â He laughed, and you joined in.
âGive me time, Iâll come up with something better eventually.â
When you returned to Grimmauld Place for the holidays, you were ecstatic. Your dad was just as happy to see you, especially to spend the holidays with you for the first time since you were an infant. Sirius was also aware that he owed a lot to your boyfriend. George had sent a letter to his mother that included an additional note for Sirius. He wrote about the issues that you were dealing with due to the pink witch, and how you did everything you could to uphold your promise to him, despite the physical pain you endured. Sirius was proud of you for being strong, but he felt guilty knowing how hurt you were because of him again.Â
âY/N, come here. I think we should talk.â You walked over to your dad and sat down beside him. âI know you made a promise to me earlier on, but I hope that we can acknowledge that this woman is not worth your time and energy. I know, because you're a lot like me, that you want to tell her off, and I think maybe you should. I just need you to be careful about it, because I donât want you getting hurt anymore.â You nodded and thought about all that you wanted to say to her. You always bit your tongue, but you also thought that maybe it was a blessing in disguise that you never told her off. George knew exactly what to do and say to avoid you getting into any more trouble, but you knew that if you spoke your mind, then you probably would get into more serious trouble.
âThank you, but I think Iâll keep silent a little longer. Plus, Iâve been helping Fred and George with their pranks, so I think that is enough for now.â Siriusâ face lit up knowing that you pranked the toad. That is exactly what he and James would have done.
âSo, this George guy,â Sirius began with a smirk on his face, âI approve of him. Heâs a good one, and Iâm happy heâs with you.â You smiled at your dad.
âMe too. He really is the best.â
âI think him and I need to have a word though.â You sighed at him and gave him a knowing look. âIt wonât be anything bad, entirely.â You laughed and stood up and patted him on the back jokingly.Â
George appeared in the doorway and made his way over to your father. You left the two of them alone, knowing that their conversation was going to be a good one.Â
After a long while, longer than you expected, George reappeared.
âSo, what did you two talk about?â You urged, pointing a finger at his chest.
âYou know, a little of this, a little of that. He just wants to know that youâre happy and that I am doing my job. Protecting you of course, and he offered a nice little threat that I should never even think about hurting you because then he would willingly find himself back in Azkaban.â You gasped playfully, knowing that your father would never actually hurt him, and that George could never hurt you either.Â
âWell, the ministry thinks he is a murderer, so who knows what he might do.â
âI am your own personal Mr. Protector Man, so I don't think that he is going to be able to touch me.â You both laughed at his comment.
âI thought you hated that name. You told me you were ashamed.â
âItâs growing on me. I love you Miss Black, surname and all.â
âI love you too Mr. Weasley, but I think I like Mr. Protector Man a bit more.â You giggled and rested your head on his chest.

Please forgive me I've been super focused on school
The Silent Queen 6; A Royal Morning
Raven woke up the same she always did - quietly. No one ever really noticed her until she was outside her room and hallway back in the castle but at school, people smiled and waved at her the second she left her dorm with Maddie. She guessed that the news of her arrival had spread and a lot of people wanted to know the daughter of the Evil Queen. Raven grimaced at the thought, she would have preferred not to be known at all. To just be a minor character in a smaller story. With a happy ending. But that wasnât who she was, she was Raven Queen and this was her life.
Walking down the corridors to the castleteria was mostly uneventful aside from all the other students who continued looking at her and pointing things out. It was times like these that she wished she could hear. But then again she wasnât sure how well sheâd adjust to suddenly being able to hear. The castleteria itself is big and crowded with white lighting that made everything look brighter than what Raven was used to, many eyes looked over to her and Raven felt herself subconsciously tug at a lavender streak in her hair. This was going to be a long school year.
Cerise stood up and waved over at the pair of newcomers from her table where she sat with Cedar, Hunter, and a few girls who Raven vaguely remembered from yesterday who had been with that blonde- Apple, Apple White. The next Snow White, the one Raven would eventually have to poison. Raven stopped moving for a second at the thought of her destiny. Eyes wide she almost started to shake until Maddie lightly poked her shoulder, pointing to the castleteriaâs food table. Raven straightened and followed her roommate and best friend to grab breakfast.
At home, she usually just walks into the kitchen. Chef made pancakes most mornings with berries from the nearby forest and honey on top. Raven always loved those pancakes, even if she had them almost every day. Raven quickly put a few slices of bacon on her plate smiling at the staff before grabbing some fruit salad and a couple of waffles and left to follow Maddie over to Cedarâs table. Most people moved out of the way to let the two girls pass through in order to get to their table. If Raven was being honest she had expected more students to run away from her when she arrived, and yet they all seemed to be completely enamoured by her. Weird. Maybe it was because she hadnât shown up for regular school until this year, or because no one knew what she looked like (she avoided mirror phones and rarely left the castle grounds), or maybe none of them knew much about deaf people. Or maybe all three. By the time she and Maddie sat down, Raven was already exhausted, and she hadnât even gone to class yet!!
âMorning Rae, how was your first night at EAH?â Cerise signed over to her childhood friend. Raven smiled at the nickname, Cerise had given it to her when they were about six, very soon afterwards Raven and Cerise began talking more over chats with their mirror phones as Cerise started elementary school while Raven began to be castleschooled. The two would work on video chats every now and again to keep sign language in Ceriseâs vocabulary, (usually with a little help from Ramona too, but itâs not like they could talk about that it was a secret!) so the two stayed connected no matter where they were.
âItâs been good Cher,â another nickname that had come from their younger years âyou know after the whole Headmaster situation me and Maddie set up our dorm. It was definitely different from the castle or your placeâ Raven concluded before picking up her fork. She really was hungry after skipping dinner last night. As the others smiled at her she felt a warm fuzzy feeling wash over her, these were her friends, some through childhood, some through the others and they all loved her. She was loved, at least she was now but once she became, that she wouldnât be. Her smile began to dim just a tad as she bit into her waffle. She shook it off before looking at the three girls she didnât know the names of. âOh sorry I almost forgot, Iâm Raven, and you guys are?â she asked the brunette in pink, the platinum blonde in white and the ginger with green eyes. Each one smiled at her as brightly as her friends, if not a bit brighter, they were probably princesses, Raven thought to herself before each one signed their names.
âBriar Beautyâ The girl in all pink signed with slightly tired eyes. Raven immediately made the connection to the Sleeping Beauty Story, it took a lot for her not to frown, that was always such a sad tale, sleeping for a hundred years would mean losing the people she loved. Even still Raven could see that something else was turning in her mind, maybe sheâd get to see what that was.
The ginger signed after âAshlynn Ella itâs nice to meet you!â she had the brightest smile that Raven had seen from the trio. Cinderellaâs daughter her mind added in, another story with a happy ending but a tragic beginning, she couldnât imagine losing both of her parents. Then again it was better than being imprisoned in a mirror, or being forced to dance in hot iron shoes until death, or being crushed by a boulder after falling off of a cliff. Ravenâs thoughts were broken as she saw that Ashlynn was sitting very close to Hunter, who seemed to be completely focused on her, the dork had a crush, which seemed to be mutual. If Raven could speak well she would have laughed.
âIâm Darling Charming but you can call me Darl for shortâ The Platinum Blonde signed last as she gave a simple polite smile. Like the one that Raven had been taught to use for visitors and knights when she was younger. A female born Charming? She had heard of it before but it wasnât common, most of them became small-time princesses with small kingdoms, or took over for the Charming Kingdom when the time came. It would be interesting Raven thought to see where her destiny leads her, after all, Darling definitely had the most open book story out of all of them.
âItâs nice to meet all of youâ Raven signed before continuing âSo.. has anyone gotten a schedule, I still havenâtâ It hadnât been a big surprise to her though, she supposed no one had accounted for her deafness and they might have had to remake her schedule. After she mentioned it though she saw Cedar hit her head with her hand. âUgh, I almost forgot,â she muttered to the group before pulling out a piece of paper. âHere Raven, I passed the headmaster and he asked me to give this to you, donât worry he only had to reschedule two subjects!â she finished passing the note over. Raven sent a grateful smile to her friend thank goodness for Cedar on the top of the paper a note was written with a schedule underneath. It read:
Dear Ms. Queen; first of all, Iâd like to apologize for not being aware of this sooner, in the short time weâve been given I was able to find some students to help you translate in each class. However, just in case most classes have an extra student who understands sign language. Below is your schedule, I hope you enjoy your time here at Ever After High.
Sincerely,
Headmaster Grimm

Raven smiled at the schedule she only didnât know two of the names on here. She was nervous to start her time at EAH but as long as she had good grades and a clear head she was sure she would do fine.

Not What He Seems (ch.1)
(Prefer to read this on AO3?)
(Itâs happening folks. The big reveal, four years in the making.)
NotWhat He Seems: Chapter 1
Thomas' heart always beat a little faster when he summoned something, even after several years in this job. It was the thrill of calling a powerful being into this reality with only your wits and some chalk lines as protection.
BeĂŤlzebob was an intermediate-level demon. He took the appearance of every clichĂŠ devil ever - hairy black goat legs, a ridiculously buff and gleaming red upper body, large curled horns. The works.
He was also not cooperating at all.
"You are... diĚľs̢tra͢c̢teÍd," the demon whispered, his voice echoing back strangely from the corners of the summoning lab. The shadows seemed to thicken.
Thomas kept his face impassive. These were just some special effects, after all. His binding circle was perfect, he didn't need to worry.
"I have outlined our offer in this document. These are the terms you have previously discussed at length with my colleague," he said, reaching out slightly to hand BeĂŤlzebob the carefully rolled up contract. "All should be in order."
The demon unrolled it and took his sweet time reading it through. He would make a good addition to the safe summons list, despite being a bit higher level than their usual choices. This old-fashioned approach, with the written contract and all - it would teach the students to be patient and give them time to focus on the details before shaking on anything.
"Yes," the demon said, dragging a black claw over the parchment. "These terms are acceptable. However, there is one issue."
"Is there?"
A horrible, fanged grin. "The contract must be written in your oĚŚĚ°ÍwĚŽĚŽnĚĚŹÍĚš blood, mortal."
Maybe it was his experience with grandstanding demons, or Tyrone had been rubbing off on him, but Thomas was not impressed. "That wasn't in the agreement."
"You will rewrite it. ḨeÍ̲ĚÍ̤̊rĚŚě̚ ÍÍĚĽaÍĚ̹̺nĚÍd Ě̹̲̌ĚnĚŠÍĚŞo̰̝͢ÍÍwĚşÍÍĚŚ.ÍĚŞĚŁÍĚŠ"
"No, I don't think so," Thomas said, mildly. Seriously? All that work was just wasted? Typical. He was not going to use his own blood to write it, sheesh. With all those clauses and addendums the thing was way too long. Not to mention willingly given human blood had power - power that wasn't a part of this offer.
The shadows twisted - the candles flared. "You will, little mortal, or I will step over this boundary and write it myself, straight from your veins."
"This attitude is not convincing me you're a good fit for our list."
"You have summoned me and I will not leave without my deal!" Red-tinged smoke filled the circle, edging over the chalk lines and spreading into the room. It stank of sulphur and decay.
Thomas coughed. Dramatics aside, maybe it was time to get rid of BeĂŤlzebob. Too bad, Hicks would be disappointed to cross off another name on the safe summons list⌠It had shrunk a lot in the past years. If this kept up their students would soon only get to summon the Organ Duck. If they couldnât offer a proper practical education they might eventually run out of interested students as well, which was bad news for the survival of the demonology department.
"Whoa, did someone drop a rotten egg in here?"
Tyrone usually didn't barge in during summonings, especially when they were trying to get more demons for the safe summons list, but this time Thomas didn't mind. The open door let in some fresh air and that was very welcome at the moment.
Tyrone entered the room, waving away some of the smoke. "Hey, Hicks mentioned you wanted to have a talk?"
"What? Oh, yeah," Thomas said, distracted. The smoke was dissipating with record speed and BeĂŤlzebob was visible again, staring at Tyrone in abject terror. "I'm a bit busy right now though."
"Do you need any help?" Tyrone offered. His smile was perfectly friendly.
Thomas glanced at BeĂŤlzebob. "As a matter of fact, he was just leaving."
"Yes! Yes indeed," the demon hurried to say. "Just leaving. Right now. Iâm going. Big misunderstanding, you know how it is, have to be somewhere else, goodbye now!"
âThanks buddy," Tyrone said. "Very accommodating of you, leaving without a deal like that. I will remember this. Here, have a snack."
With a snap of his fingers a familiar deep-fried ball appeared, partly wrapped in a festive paper towel.
BeĂŤlzebob caught it with a flinch and popped away without another sound.
âSo, what exactly did you want to talk about?â
âJust a second, let me clean up first.â He frowned at Tyrone. âSpeaking of cleaning up, what happened to your shirt?â
âWhat?â Tyrone glanced down at the brown stains on his usually so crisp white shirt, and made a face. âAw man, seriously?â
âDo I want to know?â
âI bumped into Banerjee on my way here. He was carrying samples. And he didnât even apologize, can you believe it?â
Banerjee was the Cryptozoology departmentâs newest hire, working on his doctorate involving â honestly, Thomas had no idea, he just knew it involved a lot of mud. He wasnât aware of Tyroneâs true identity. The university staff tried to keep that one under wraps. Parents might object to their children coming to a university where Alcor the Dreambender was frequently hanging around.
âHe owes me a new shirt.â
Thomas rolled his eyes. âYou can literally make it brand new with a thought.â
âHe doesnât know that. Itâs about the principle of the thing.â
Shaking his head, Thomas set to work. To his students it often came as a surprise that practical demonology involved a lot of cleaning up. The preparations were extensive, of course, but afterwards someone had to put away the candles and mop up the chalk, blood, and other assorted fluids the demons occasionally left behind. BeĂŤlzebob in particular had left footprints of some kind of sulphurous ooze that he probably shouldnât handle without glovesâŚ
Safely removing summoning circles was an art, really. Itâs not like you could just start scrubbing away with these things â the outer part was usually the binding circle, and you never knew if the demon was still hanging around, invisible, waiting for you to make a mistake. Not that he expected something to happen while Alcor the Dreambender was literally waiting at the door, but proper caution was a good habit to have.
âYou know, I could clean this up for you with a snap of my fingers,â Tyrone mused, lounging against the wall while he waited. His shirt held no trace of the brown stains.
âAre you offering?â
âFor free?â
Thomas snickered at the almost scandalous look on Tyroneâs face. Put down his cleaning supplies. He had planned to do this differently, but you know what? Now might be as good a time as ever. And it would be fun, wouldnât it, to put Tyrone off-balance for a moment? âHow about a deal then?â
Tyrone perked up.
âYou get this room back to its cleaned-up, usable state,â said Thomas, and felt the smile break through on his face. âIn return, you get to be my best man.â
To his credit, it didnât take Tyrone long to realise. âThomas! You finally popped the question then?â
âYep. I said I was going to do it soon, this canât be a surprise ââ
âAnd she said yes?â
âWe did talk about it beforehand, you know ââ
âCongrats!â
âThanks,â Thomas grinned. âSo, what do you say? Fair warning though, being my best man comes with certain responsibilities. Making sure Iâm on time at the wedding and such.â
Organising the stag night as well, technically. Though Thomas suspected Brad already had some thoughts in that direction.
âIâve been someoneâs best man before, I know how it goes,â Tyrone said. âYouâve got yourself a deal, Thomas.â
The room around them shifted, the magical arrays fading away and taking the trailing odour of brimstone with them.
Tyroneâs expression shifted too, as he let go of Thomasâ hand.
âWhatâs wrong?â Thomas asked.
âNothing.â
âYou seem upset?â
âI am happy for you,â Tyrone said. âItâs just⌠youâre getting old.â
âWow, thanks.â
âNo, I mean â look at you! Getting married. Maybe kids and a house, soon.â
âIâm not buying a house on a teacherâs salary,â Thomas said. âThe rest⌠who knows? Weâll see how it goes. Is that whatâs upsetting you? That Iâm growing up?â
Tyrone shrugged awkwardly. He seemed smaller somehow. âYouâre going to be very busy with all that â that life stuff. Itâs happening already. Everyone is so busy. Your dates with Elisha, Eddyâs got his new job, Bradâs mucking around in his dadâs company - when was the last time we all hung out, just for fun? Not because it was someoneâs birthday or anything? Itâs been ages since we had a game night.â
That⌠had been a while, true. âI guess thatâs what happens when you get older. There are more demands on your time, you get to juggle more responsibilities.â
âIâm not getting older.â
âRight.â Thomas took a deep breath.  âListen, so⌠weâre busy more often. And itâs not like in college, where we all could just hang out all the time. But youâre basically part of the family, Tyrone. Alcor. Youâll always have a place here. And Iâm sure the rest of the gang would say the same.â
âPromise?â
âPromise,â Thomas said. And smiled, to lighten the mood. âYouâre not getting rid of me that easily.â
âYouâd just miss all the amazing deals I make with you.â
âOf courseâ Thomas said, glad Tyrone was now teasing instead of moping. âIâm clearly only using you for your clout as Alcor. Youâve made my life so much easier.â
Tyrone mimed a gasp. âSarcasm, Thomas? Ouch.â
âNot entirely sarcasm,â Thomas admitted. âYou do make my life easier, sometimes. When you feel like it. For instance, vanishing that sulphurous stuff BeĂŤlzebob left behind, I was not looking forward to handling that. The smell lingered.â
Tyrone suddenly looked way too innocent. âOh, I didnât exactly vanish it.â
Oh Stars. âWhat did you do?â
âMight have put it somewhere. Like, oh, I dunno⌠Banerjeeâs car.â
Thomas facepalmed. Serves him right for making a vague deal like that. âIs it at least safe?â
âDefine âsafeâ.â
âTyrone!â
âDonât worry, Thomas, I promised not to deliberately harm the universityâs students and faculty, remember? Heâll be fine.â
âAll this for an accidental stain on your shirt, really?â
Tyrone folded his arms in front of him. âHe didnât apologize.â
Thomas shook his head, exasperated.
Demons. They really knew how to hold grudges.
--------------
The Mindscape was a vast, endless realm where the strong hunted the weak and territories were defined, invaded, and redefined. This was the place where demons lived, and they didnât like each other any better than they liked humans. The collective noun for a group of demons, as they say, is âa carnageâ. Teaming up was rare, and more often than not ended in the stronger one destroying the other as soon as their goal was met. That was just the natural order of things.
Even so, sometimes even they needed a neutral place to go. Somewhere deals could be made without worrying about being devoured. This place was the Midway Bar, run by a demon known only as the Bartender, and for the past six years it had attracted a group of regulars.
They took over the table in the corner. Sometimes the group lost a member, occasionally it gained one. They werenât here to make deals. They were here to drown their misery and sneak away before a stronger demon took advantage of their intoxication to ambush them outside these walls.
BeĂŤlzebob entered the Midway Bar. He went straight to the Bartender, who after a short conversation pointed in the direction of the gloomy table in the corner.
âGet lost,â Flaga the Eagle-winged said, at his approach.
The demon next to her, who mostly looked like a giant fungus with teeth, curled a green tendril around their glass. âYeah. This is a private party.â
BeĂŤlzebob paused. He was stronger than each of them, he knew. But this was no place for threats. âApologies for the interruption. May I sit?â
That wasnât how demons talked to each other, especially not to a bunch of low-levels like them. They shared a suspicious glance. The one across from Flaga, some kind of feathered crocodile hybrid, raised his empty glass meaningfully.
Of course. âListening can parch the throat so,â BeĂŤlzebob said. âLet me get those refilled for you, and then weĚĚŽ'ĚĽÍĚllĚĚŽ ť̳̎aĚŞĚŠĚĚĽl̯̚̚kĚ°.â

Here's a quandary I've suddenly found myself in: where do you stand on writers deleting their own works, fanfiction or otherwise? I've had this happen to me on more than one occasion - I go to look for an old favorite and find it's since been deleted from whatever site I read it on.
On the one hand, I'm inclined to think that, "Sure. The author wrote it, it's their call. I don't own the work - I certainly didn't pay for it. It's their decision, even if it's disappointing."
But at the same time I can't help but consider the alternative - if I believe in death of the author (and I do), that an author's work fundamentally isn't solely theirs once it's been published, posted, etc., then it also seems wrong to have a work deleted. Stories aren't the sole property of their creator, after all.
But then I circle back. D'you think there are different obligations between authors and readers and the works being made in fandom space? I know if I had bought a book and the author decided they wanted it back, I would feel pretty comfortable telling them no, given I'd paid for it and whatnot. But that's a different world from fanfic and fandom space generally.
So. You're insightful Clyde, I'm curious as to what you'll have to say here (and to all y'all thinking about it, don't flame me. I haven't decided where I stand here yet - haven't heard a good nail-in-the-coffin argument for or against yet).
Val are you a mind reader now? Iâve been thinking about this exact conundrum the last few days!
(And yeah, as a general disclaimer: no flaming. Not allowed. Any asks of the sort will be deleted on sight and with great satisfaction.)
Honestly, Iâm not sure there is a ânail-in-the-coffin argumentâ for this, just becauseâas you lay outâthere are really good points for keeping works around and really good points for allowing authors to have control over their work, especially when fanworks have no payment/legal obligations attached. In mainstream entertainment, your stories reflect a collaborative effort (publisher, editor, cover artists, etc.) so even if it were possible to delete the physical books out of everyoneâs home and library (and we're ignoring the censorship angle for the moment), thatâs no longer solely the authorâs call, even if they have done the lionâs share of the creative work. Though fanworks can also, obviously, be collaborative, theyâre usually not collaborative in the same way (more âThis fic idea came about from discord conversations, a couple tumblr posts, and that one headcanon on redditâ) and they certainly donât have the same monetary, legal, and professional strings attached. I wrote this fic as a hobby in my free time. Donât I have the right to delete it like I also have the right to tear apart the blankets I knit?
Well yes⌠but also no? I personally view fanworks as akin to giftsâthe academic term for our communities is literally âgift economyââso if we view it like that, suddenly that discomfort with getting rid of works is more pronounced. If I not only knit a blanket, but then gift it to a friend, it would indeed feel outside of my rights to randomly knock on their door one day and go, âI actually decided I hate that? Please give it back so I can tear it to shreds, thanks :)â Thatâs so rude! And any real friend would try to talk me out of it, explaining both why they love the blanket and, even if itâs not technically the best in terms of craftsmanship, it holds significant emotional value to them. Save it for that reason alone, at least. Fanworks carry that same meaningââI donât care if itâs full of typos, super clichĂŠ, and using some outdated, uncomfortable tropes. This story meant so much to me as a teenager and Iâll always love itââbut the difference in medium and relationships means itâs easier to ignore all that. Iâm not going up to someoneâs house and asking face-to-face to destroy something I gave them (which is awkward as hell. That alone deters us), Iâm just pressing a button on my computer. Iâm not asking this of a personal friend that is involved in my IRL experiences, Iâm (mostly) doing this to online peers I know little, if anything, about. Itâs easy to distance ourselves from both the impact of our creative work and the act of getting rid of it while online. On the flip-side though, itâs also easier to demean that work and forget that the author is a real person who put a lot of effort into this creation. If someone didnât like my knitted blanket I gave them as a gift, theyâre unlikely to tell me that. They recognize that itâs impolite and that the act of creating something for them is more important than the constructionâs craftsmanship. For fanworks though, with everyone spread around the world and using made up identities, people have fewer filters, happily tearing authors to shreds in the comments, sending anon hate, and the like. The fact that weâre both prefacing this conversation with, âPlease donât flameâ emphasizes that. So if I wrote a fic with some iffy tropes, âcringyâ dialogue, numerous typos, whatever and enough people decided to drag me for it⌠I donât know whether Iâd resist the urge to just delete the fic, hopefully ending those interactions. Thereâs a reason why weâre constantly reminding others to express when they enjoy someone elseâs work: the ratio of praise to criticism in fandom (or simply praise to seeming indifference because there was no public reaction at all), is horribly skewed.
So I personally canât blame anyone for deleting. Iâd like to hope that more people realize the importance of keeping fanworks around, that everything you put out there is loved by someone⌠but Iâm well aware that the reality is far more complicated. Itâs hard to keep that in mind. Itâs hard to keep something around that you personally no longer like. Harder still to keep up a work you might be harassed over, that someone IRL discovered, that youâre disgusted with because you didnât know better back then⌠there are lots of reasons why people delete and I ultimately canât fault them for that. I think the reasons why people delete stem more from problems in fandom culture at largeâtrolling, legal issues, lack of positive feedback, cancel culture, etc.âthan anything the author has or has not personally done, and since such work is meant to be a part of an enjoyable hobby⌠I canât rightly tell anyone to shoulder those problems, problems they canât solve themselves, just for the sake of mine or othersâ enjoyment. The reason Iâve been thinking about this lately is because I was discussing Attack on Titan and how much I dislike the source material now, resulting in a very uncomfortable relationship with the fics I wrote a few years back. Iâve personally decided to keep them up and thatâs largely because some have received fantastic feedback and Iâm aware of how it will hurt those still in the fandom if I take them down. So if a positive experience is the cornerstone of me keeping fics up, I can only assume that negative experiences would likewise been the cornerstone of taking them down. And if getting rid of that fic helps your mental health, or solves a bullying problem, or just makes you happier⌠that, to me, is always more important than the fic itself.
But, of course, itâs still devastating for everyone who loses the work, which is why my compromise-y answer is to embrace options like AO3âs phenomenal orphaning policy. Thatâs a fantastic middle ground between saving fanworks and allowing authors to distances themselves from them. Iâve also gotten a lot more proactive about saving the works I want to have around in the future. Regardless of whether we agree with deleting works or not, the reality is we do live in a world where it happens, so best to take action on our own to save what we want to keep around. Though I respect an authorâs right to delete, I also respect the readerâs right to maintain access to the work, once published, in whatever way they can. That's probably my real answer here: authors have their rights, but readers have their rights too, so if you decide to publish in the first place, be aware that these rights might, at some point, clash. I download all my favorite fics to Calibre and, when Iâm earning more money (lol) I hope to print and bind many for my personal library. Iâm also willing to re-share fic if others are looking for them, in order to celebrate the authorâs work even if they no longer want anything to do with it. Not fanfiction in this case, but one of my fondest memories was being really into Phantom of the Opera as a kid and wanting, oh so desperately, to read Susan Kayâs Phantom. Problem was, it was out of print at the time, not available at my library, and this was before the age of popping online and finding a used copy. For all intents and purposes, based on my personal situation, this was a case of a book just disappearing from the world. So when an old fandom mom on the message boards I frequented offered to type her copy up chapter by chapter and share it with me, you can only imagine how overjoyed I was. Idk what her own situation was that something like scanning wouldnât work, but the point is she spent months helping a fandom kid she barely knew simply because a story had resonated with her and she wanted to share it. That shit is powerful!
So if someone wants to deleteâif thatâs something they need right nowâI believe that is, ultimately, their decision⌠but please try your hardest to remember that the art you put out into the world is having an impact and people will absolutely miss it when itâs gone. Often to the point of doing everything they can to put it back out into the world even if you decide to take it out. Hold onto that feeling. The love you have for your favorite fic, fanart, meta, whatever it is? Someone else has that for your work too. I guarantee it.
So take things down as needed, but for the love of everything keep copies for yourself. You may very well want to give it back to the world someday.

home is people, not a place 2/?
Part 1
Summary: Clay gets attacked on base. DEVGRU finds an issue in that.
TW: Blood mention, physical assault, canon typical violence
Tag: @rebelwrites @chibsytelford @bravo-four-seal-team @velvetcardiganbucky @supervalcsi @abby-splace @itsonautopilot @thegirlwhoisalwayswriting @pinkrockstar19 @softi92 @mrsmarvelous1995 @jayhalsteadfan-2417
Lisa is pissed. She has every right to be. Clay had been attacked in the Bravo cages.
Sheâd watched the kid go from a strap who couldnât stay in his own lane to an operator who could lead Bravo â and Tier One, for that matter â into the future. And then heâd been attacked in his teamâs cages, in his own cage. Blackburn was still at the hospital â heâd found the kid in a pool of his own blood; Lisa wouldnât blame him if it took an apocalypse to separate him from the kid â making sure that the kid got appropriate care.
She pushed open the door to Bravoâs briefing room, not that it actually had any members of Bravo in it. Alpha, Charlie and Delta were all there, waiting on her brief on the situation. Echo would have been there, if not for them being halfway through their first deployment as a team. There had been hesitation about deploying Echo â the loss of the last Echo line-up still sat heavily in the Tierâs mind.
The three teamâs Master Chiefs and 2ICs had sat in Bravoâs usual chairs. Full Metal and Derek sat in Jason and Rayâs chairs, respectively. Beau and his second in command had taken Sonny and Trentâs, while TJ was sat in Brockâs. Delta Two had distinctively chosen not to sit in Clayâs seat, instead sitting in a chair usually used for either Cerberus or a support staff member, depending on the op.
(It was very funny to watch Brock and Clay push a wheely chair with Cerberus on it between the two of them, and theyâd pretty much mastered the art of doing it in the last few months. Cerb had found that if he allowed it to happen, heâd get belly rubs and treats, so he was unbothered about it)
The other seats had a random assignment, seemingly first-come-first-serve. The ones unlucky enough to have not found seats stood tensely, arms crossed and grumbling under their breath to each other.
Nobody sat in Clayâs seat.
All 18 operators looked up when she walked in, attention snapping to the person with the most information. As she walked in, her gaze caught on the table space in front of Clayâs chair. Clay had left his book on the table. Itâs about as thick as a brick, and Sonny would probably take a glance at it and tell Clay it was as dry as one. The embossed cover didnât read English, and Lisa had a feeling that there would be very few, if any, people in the room able to read any part of the book.
She stood at the front and pushed her emotions down. These operators were here for information, not emotion.
âAt 0145 this morning, 4 Green Team members entered Bravoâs Cage room. At 0157, they left, and returned to the Green Team barracks. 0204, Lieutenant Commander Blackburn entered the Bravo cages. He dialled 911 and was assisted by Alpha Four-â
She cuts herself off for a few seconds, as various operators slapped Jordan on the back, mumbled thanks spreading through the room as they reassured themselves that one of their own had helped their kid.
âAssisted by Alpha Four at 0207. Ambulance arrived at 0215. The Green Team members were apprehended by Alpha and Delta at 0248.â
She pauses again as a ripple of thanks goes through to room, Alpha and Delta thanking their Master Chiefs and each other and Charlie thanking both teams.
âPetty Officer Spenser was admitted to hospital at 0224, and was assessed as having a concussion, a broken nose and 5 bruised ribs.â
Alpha, Charlie and Deltaâs medics all take note of this. Theyâre probably going to be on Clayâs ass for the next few months about this, right behind Trent.
âBravo arrived at the Hospital at 0243. They are all with him. Hayes has asked that he is included in any appropriate punishments.â
Full Metal snorts. âBet he didnât word it like thatâ
A series of chuckles and grins echoes around the room. He did not word it like that. There was much more swearing, and much, much less formal language. Heâd implied murder no less than 5 times.
Lisa allowed a smile to pass through the stony calm façade she had up.
âCommand has delegated these appropriate punishments to be carried out within DEVGRU and have stressed the importance of leaving an impression on future graduates. This cannot be a recuring event.â
TJ pipes up first, almost before sheâd finished talking. âI say we let Metal work his magic, make sure nobody finds them.â
This gets mixed responses, but Lisa isnât surprised when none are wholly negative. They all had a younger brother in the form of Clay, and they had all trained for years in the art of killing their enemies as swiftly and efficiently as possible, and these candidates fell wholly and completely under the title of âEnemyâ.
Metal gives a faux hopeful look to Lisa, and Lisa can tell that heâs not entirely dismissed the possibility, even as he does a terrible job at pretending to still consider it an option that Lisa could authorize. Lisa plays into the joke â god knows that Tier One needs some light in this disastrous day â and gives him the look mostly used for when Bravo (usually Sonny) suggests a stupid idea that shouldnât had even crossed their minds. Blackburn jokingly referred to it as her âbad dogâ look, and it worked for its purpose, making the operators put their tails between their legs. A few faces form smiles, and a few look to be wavering on the edge of smiling.
âNo murder, and no death.â
This gets her grumbles, and not all of them are joking. Clay had gotten all of them out of sticky situations. Every operator in Tier One had a handful story where Clay had needed to be briefed on their op, and all of them had at least one where heâd taking calls at 2am to translate over a connection that he could barely hear English through. Heâd never berated them for waking him up, and had often taken time to teach various operators key phrases, if he knew they were deploying somewhere where he knew the language.
Beau goes next, possibly the most level-headed of the Master Chiefs â both in the room and not. âAdvanced SERE?â
Now this, Lisa can work with. Something about her posture must change, a twitch in her face, because the room suddenly erupts in sound. Charlie Two, Delta Five and Alpha Three all are in close enough range to clap Beau on the back, and they do so in quick succession.
âGentlemen.â She raises her voice to be heard by the room. Thereâs nothing gentle about the looks on their faces.
âIâll leave you to figure something out. Report to me with a plan of action.â And with that, she gives them a single nod and begins to leave. Her turned back does not block out the whispers of violence, but it does hide the vicious smile thatâs stretched itself out along her face.
Nobody would even think about hurting their kid. Ever again.
+
As Clay blearily opened his eyes, he realised that heâd succumbed to pain-med-induced sleep. A few hours had probably passed since then, based on the fact that sunlight was now filling the room. Sonny was sat on his right side, gaze focused on the roomâs TV screen, which was showing a play-by-play of a football game. The volume was cranked down, and even as Clay becomes more aware; he can only hear every other word.
âSon?â The word passes his lips without him meaning it to. Sonnyâs head snaps over to Clay, so fast that Clay fears he may have given himself whiplash.
âHey Bam Bam, how ya doin?â The toothpick moves hypnotically. Stop looking at the toothpick. Stop it. Stop it. Sonnyâs casual expression is betrayed by the slight waver in his voice, a sliver of raw emotion that Sonny couldnât fully supress. Clay gives him a strained smile in lieu of answering and reaches his hand out. Sonny catches the hand before it moves very far, holding it in a tight grip.
Sonnyâs thumb absently runs across Clayâs unblemished because he hadnât even been able to fight back knuckles, and his spare hand turns off the TV, leaving them in silence.
âKid.â Clayâs eyes widen slightly, and he almost pulls his hand out of Sonnyâs grip at the softly spoken word. He tries to get in the apology, the explanation, before Sonny can tell him that Jason is punishing him for being unaware.
âI should have being paying attention. I know I should have been paying attention, I was just so tired.â Iâm sorry Iâm so sorry donât kick me out please
Sonny freezes. What?
âClay. Stop. Stop-â he has to cut himself off before he says something that includes those really touchy-feely-emotions heâs feeling. Thankfully, Clay doesnât take the pause as an opportunity to continue. âStop trying to defend yourself. None of us blame you, Blondie. You were on base. You should have been protected. We wonât fail you again.â Sonny gives him facts, because he knows that if he tries to do anything else heâll make it worse.
âSon?â Clay recalls a voice calling through the dark, through the black water he was floating in, a voice heâd recognised; âDid Blackburn find me? He- he had blood on his handsâ
For a moment, Sonny curses Clayâs blessings as a sniper. Heâd always been able to notice the little things, the things none of them would notice. âYeah, he was checking that none of us were sleeping in the cages.â
Clay nods, and then his brows furrow. He breaks eye contact with Sonny and frowns in the genal direction of his feet. His face makes what Sonny calls his âBrainiacâ Face, and Sonny can only assume that heâs thinking about what happened with Blackburn, not rationalizing with himself that the beating was somehow his fault.
âSon, can I talk to him?â Sonny doesnât want to think about whatever that conversation is going to be, so he nods and begins to gather his stuff. His cap is hanging precariously from one on the bedâs corners, his phone on the bedside table. He stands and ruffles Clayâs head, laughing despite the stink-eye he gets for it. Clay doesnât mind it, and he has the feeling the next few weeks, if not months, are going to be filled with various forms of physical contact to reassure his teammates that he was still with them.
And now heâd asked Sonny to get Blackburn. God what do you even say to the guy who had found you beaten? âHey Boss, Iâm sure that what you saw was horrifying, but Iâm alright now?â God help him. Sonny hadnât given him a weird look, so heâd probably been expecting Clay to ask at some point.
Clayâs train of thought is interrupted when a soft knock sounds on the door. Thereâs a second of pause before the door opens. Clay canât think of a time when Blackburnâs looked worse. There are dark circles under his eyes, and a vaguely haunted look in his eyes. His eyes have a red tinge, and Clay canât tell if thatâs from sleep deprivation, or something else. His hands are rubbed red and raw, and Clay can tell that Blackburn had taken extra care to get every fleck of blood off his hands. Heâs in a jacket that looks too big for him, and Clay suspects that Trent had a hand in that. Since the injured person â Clay â wasnât someone he could immediately care for, Trent had gone for the next best thing, a shaken Blackburn. Under the jacket, heâs still in his fatigues, and by the time heâs finished the assessment of Blackburnâs top half, heâd moved close and sat down, hiding everything below his waist from Clayâs view.
Blackburn reaches out, putting a palm on Clayâs forearm, Clayâs hand mirrors it on Blackburnâs arm, and tension bleeds from Blackburnâs figure. His shoulders slump slightly, and he leans forward.
âHow are you feeling?â
Clay considers lying, considers saying that heâs not in any pain, considers easing Blackburnâs mind. He decides against it. Blackburn had found him in a pool of blood, itâs the least he can do to tell him the truth. âMy ribs hurt. But Iâm, Iâm glad youâre here. Iâm glad you were there.â
Clay is the sometimes literally bleeding heart of Bravo, levelling out Sonnyâs emotional constipation, and the admission is the balm of some of the burns on Ericâs soul. Eric leaned forwards, shuffling closer to the bed, trying to hide the blood on his knees. He hadnât been home to change, a call to his wife at 8am had told her that he wasnât going to be home for a while. She, like the amazing wife she was, had been understanding, and then grumbled at him to let her sleep. Theyâd both laughed and exchanged âI love youâs before his wife ended the call. Clay didnât need the stress of knowing that Eric had knelt in his blood. Nobody needs that.
âGave me quite a scare, gave all of us quite a scare.â Eric doesnât tell him that heâd spent the last half hour scrubbing his hands raw, that Jason had needed to strong-arm him into the waiting room, that Trent had given him one look and offered up his jacket, that heâd had his head in his hands until Sonny had come into the room and told him that Clay wanted to talk to him. Doesnât tell him that heâd stood outside for nearly a minute before heâd knocked, that heâd needed to barrel in before he lost the nerve to speak to his operator. He usually prides himself on staying calm, on being collected, but Clay had been attacked in one of the few places on earth that he could honestly and without reservation call home. That scared Eric. If he couldnât keep his operators safe on base, where would they be safe?
âDavis is talking to command about adding locks to the cage room doors, make sure this doesnât happen again.â If she wasnât already talking to command about it, she would be soon.
Clay nods. He shifts and grimaces in pain.
âDo you want me to get a nurse?â Itâs a safe question, one that doesnât involve the emotions in the room.
Clay ignores the lifeline. âIâm alright as I am. Did you get the guys?â
Eric nods. Breaking the news to Bravo had been the highlight of his morning. âCommand is letting DEVGRU work out how to punish them.â
Clay grins. âI bet Metal is having fun with that.â
Itâs Ericâs turn to smile, and a soft chuckle makes its way out. âDavis is under strict orders to not accept a plan that involves murder. Iâm sure Alphaâs disagreeing with that.â
Alpha was most likely to deploy with Bravo, and all were in line with their Master Chiefâs âBury-first-questions-secondâ policy when it came to Clay. Eric had a feeling it wouldnât take much convincing to get Delta and Echo behind the plan, and that Charlie would only argue on principle.
Tier One was a brotherhood that didnât take kindly to injury, as the world would learn.
+
Echo One â Zack Greer â a newly promoted Delta Two, wasnât a very outgoing man. One and Twos were meant to both complement and contrast each other, a precarious balancing act honed over years of living out of each otherâs pockets. TJ had needed a level head, so his Two was calm in the face of crisis.
Echo Two, on the other hand. A Floridian man, Elliot Howe, promoted from Charlie Three, who was under strict orders to never drink unsupervised with Sonny Quinn, lest they empty a bar and then burn said bar to the ground. Heâd chaffed under Beauâs tight ship, so when the opportunity to move to form Echo had arisen, he was hard pushed to say no.
Together with Echo Three (Alpha Three), Echo Four (Delta Six) and two Green Team graduates as their Five and Six, theyâd created a tight brotherhood.
Echo Five, Dan Wilder, a multilingual K9 handler, had initially been lost at DEVGRU, not quite fitting in. Heâd reached out to the youngest operator â Bravo Six â in order to get some advice. What he didnât know at the time is that their languages had overlap. Together with Clay and Ares â his K9 â heâd been able to find someone to practice with.
Echo had long since lost count of how many times Clay had come into their cage room, with a well-loved book, offering it to Dan with a brief explanation of how it would interest him. The book was never in English, and neither was the explanation. For all they knew, Clay could have spent the last few months giving Dan anything from Harry Potter to The Anarchistâs Cookbook (heâd actually only given Dan one of those, and Dan was under strict instructions not to tell them which, and Dan had been recommending others back).
Sonny, on the days when they were hanging out after work, sometimes tagged along to these exchanges. Heâd joked about a book club, and Echo Two had picked up on the joke immediately, and since then the pair had resigned themselves to the nickname.
Between Clayâs frequent interactions with Dan and the fact that all of DEVGRU was deadly protective of Clay, it was no surprise that when Echo had heard the news, they hadnât been happy. Command had fought a battle with Echo to keep them deployed, and Echo had nearly won. Dan had been on many rants, talking to empty space in Pashto â Four only caught a few words, and those were all along the lines of murder and death. Ares was giving out a low, constant growl. Both of the DEVGRU K9s were as protective as their owners, it seemed.
The door to their dorms slammed open and Zack marched in. Echo looks up in sync, and if it werenât so serious, Zack would be amused by how much his men look like Meerkats. âGot word from Virginia.â This sets his men on edge, Howe half-steps forward, and his shoulders visibly tense up. âThey found the green team rookies. Weâve been asked to approve the plan of their punishment before it gets sent to be approved by command.â Malicious smiles break out among the barracks.
They may be 7000 miles away, but they wouldnât let anybody off the hook because of it.

Do you have any advice for self-care to use specifically when you are angry and frustrated by torture apologia? Or even more so when being dismissed when confronting others because they think you are not smart, too emotional, not having enough applicable background, etc. I wanted to keep this general. I know you posted about taking breaks and keeping up your mental health but I could not find anything about ways to deal with anger that donât involve confronting others, especially if it is culturally frowned upon. Thank you for your hard work with this blog.
Well duck, I uh mostly deal with anger by running this blog.
Iâm honestly not sure that I deal with anger well. I try and Iâm working on it but I know I struggle to stay calm and polite when something infuriates me. Iâm also a lot better at communicating in a helpful, patient and articulate fashion in writing then I am in person.
Keep in mind that you do not have to have these conversations every time someone is spouting torture apologia.
Spreading awareness is great! Educating others is great!
But (and I really can not stress this enough) it is not your job to correct everyone. It is not your job to âfixâ people. It is not your job to persuade others they should care.
Pick your battles. Engage with people who you think you can have a genuine conversation with. Remember that when youâre talking politics (and torture is political) then the aim is not to convert the people on the extreme ends: itâs to persuade the people who are on the fence.
And if you really want to engage with people engage about the things they care about. If youâre talking to someone who believes in law and order or justice as retribution then talk about how torture puts police at risk and how it leads to innocent people landing in jail. If youâre talking to people who are concerned with safety in their neighbourhoods talk about how torture can serve as a recruiting factor for extremist groups and gangs. If theyâre concerned about public health and the treatment of the mentally ill talk about how torture causes life long health problems and how that takes away from the economy.
Aim at the level where people are willing to engage with you.
If people take issue with your level of education or subject and question how you can know this stuff; act like an academic would. Cite your sources.
âWell Rejali who studied this for years and created one of the most detailed analysis of global torture we have-â âOâMara, who studies the brain and how trauma impacts it,â âMorgan, who put US marines through a mock interrogation with mild levels of stress and found-â âShalev who studies solitary confinement-â âSironi who is a psychologist and has interviewed hundreds of torturers-â âKara who produced the largest data base of interviews with modern slaves-â
Repressing your anger, tapping it down, is not a good idea. As with most negative emotions itâs healthier to let yourself feel them and work through them.
Itâs also important to recognise that while there are real reasons for your feelings you can not always do anything about them. And there comes a point where you have to deal with that. The things that anger us and hurt us are not always things we can actually personally effect. Changing public opinion takes decades and is the work of thousands of people, not one individual.
I feel like those of us who are not from the West have a bit of an advantage here, because sitting with that anger and learning when and how to put it aside is something you grow up with.
Having support helps a lot. Having people you can talk to about this stuff is incredibly important. And I am so grateful to all of the people I know who support me in this: the court journalists, philosophers, writers and researchers who I can discuss this with. I also get a lot from reading about the successes around the world, modern or historical. Theyâre out there.
Martial arts have also helped me a lot over the years. Capoeira helped me a lot but given the pandemic it isnât a great idea right now. But a pair of boxing pads and a willing house mate are definitely a good way to get out some anger. Thumb on the outside of your fist, never inside your fingers. Keep it close to your body, fist at your hip, thumb upwards. Twist as you punch so your thumb faces down as you connect with the pad. Make sure to move your hips.
Donât do what I did at uni and try to use a pillow instead of proper pads. Youâll end up bruised.
Right now, without a decent capoeira group and a lockdown in place, I do push ups.
If you have a garden dig. Plant young trees, if youâre in the northern hemisphere (itâs the wrong time in the southern hemisphere.) Dig a vegetable patch. Make an area of wild flowers by cutting and tearing out the grass, raking the ground and scattering native plant seeds in the mud.
Take all the electric whisks out of the kitchen and make a cake. Cream the butter until it feels like your arm will fall off.
Make a curry from scratch without a blender. I use a granite pestle and mortar and it takes several batches and several hours to grind a proper paste. Iâm a big fan of Matar Paneer and it freezes well giving some tasty work lunches for a week or so.
Make bread. Iâm not very good at this but the kneading, layering and mixing all take a lot of work. Which can be a very good outlet. I wish I could give you a paratha recipe but the truth is my skill level is no where near high enough to attempt the best breads. (I buy mine frozen.)
The advantage Iâve found from all of these outlets is theyâre constructive. Boxing and push ups will make you stronger, whatever skill level you start at. Gardening will give you fruit, vegetables or wonderful flowers in a few months time. Itâll give you new knowledge of plants. Cooking any of the things Iâve suggested will give you wonderful food and more skills.
I always try to find something constructive to do with my anger. I think thereâs a tendency to portray anger as bad in and of itself rather then having a conversation about how we act on our anger.
I also canât stress enough how writing can help. Fiction is an excellent way to process our feelings and express why we feel the way we do.
The piece of fanfiction Iâm currently writing has one of the characters dealing with a traumatic brain injury. Writing this character struggling to communicate what heâs going through and trying to come to terms with his limits while the people around him are looking at him and saying âwell you donât look disabled-â Itâs helped me process a lot of my anger over how Iâm treated because of my mental health problems and the dumb, unnecessary barriers that make my life more difficult.
Whatâs the root of the anger here? When you know that, you can address it with words. You can construct a story that will explore it. You can see it through the lense of different characters. And that really helps process it.
 I hope that helps :)

In the Interest of Mischief
Summary:Â Working for someone as eccentric and unpredictable as Tony Stark, even with the occasional buffer of Pepper Potts on your side, is exactly the kind of chaos you love to keep you on your toes.
After all, there's nothing you enjoy more than a little mischief.
Pairing: Loki/Reader
Word Count:Â 1,388
"Ms. Potts has a meeting with the caterers for the charity banquet at 1:15 that overlaps with your lunch gathering with this quarter's investors. Â I'll be coming with you in her place, so don't worry about having things handed to you," you called out, the pragmatic tone and offhanded flipping through the folders of papers in your hands at risk of being nullified by the smallest pull at the corner of your lips. Â
"See? Â This is why you're almost my favorite," his teasing tone carried over the pulsing melody of rock music and the occasional clunk of the components he worked with in the workshop, "Youâd have it in the bag if you could get me out of it entirely."
He peeked around the suit he had been modifying, signature smirk on his face, and wiping his hands on the grease-stained rag that he had resting on his shoulder. Â
"I think keeping both of us on Ms. Potts' good side is worth giving up the title. Â I'll see you downstairs in an hour," you threw over your shoulder with a slight nod of your head as you made your way out, the sound of your heels on the smooth concrete quickly covered by the rising volume of music coming back full force. Â Â
As the secure doors closed behind you, you couldn't help the huff of a laugh that gently shook your shoulders. Â Working with, and for, someone like Tony Stark really made the usual stuffiness of a professional setting bearable in ways that you couldn't help but be thankful for. Â While not everyone you interacted with on a daily basis shared the same easygoing personality that he did, the effect of his presence rested on your shoulders like a pleasant, if at times annoying, blanket. Â
There were other people in the tower that had a similar aura that you were always thankful to be around, while it was a relatively rare occurrence for you to cross their paths. Â Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, for example, were a practically inseparable pair and the metaphorical spring and winter of the team that always seemed to keep each other, and subsequently those around them, in orbit. Â Steve's warm and encouraging words paired with Bucky's cool and refreshing candidness often helped calm your nerves, even in your first impromptu meeting with the national heroes you had learned about in history books. Â
Clint Barton, Sam Wilson, and Natasha Romanov offered a healthy combination of emotional intellect and teasing, the latter of which reached its peak with the addition of the Asgardian brothers' frequent visits to the tower. Â If Steve and Bucky were spring and winter, then Thor was summer, bright and cheery in a way that was so uncommon that you almost felt bad for being in his company when you often radiated waves of barley managed stress. Â
His brother, Loki, however, was an entirely unique presence that you found yourself drawn to in ways that outclassed the general sociability you had with the others. Â You didn't know what to make of him upon your first interaction with each other, and that fact hadn't changed much in the time you've known him. Â This didn't stop you from pushing the limits of professional conversation with him every time you were given the opportunity, much to the discomfiture of his teammates. Â The two of you seemed to take an unspoken amount of joy in making them uncomfortable (especially if it was in the form of burning on the tips of Steve's ears and an overexaggerated eye roll from Clint or Sam).
Raking your eyes over the paperwork that rested in your armsâwhich, much to your chagrin, you still needed to finish sorting before J.A.R.V.I.S. urged Tony to pause his work to attend the meeting with youâyou took mental stock of what else you needed to complete before you could consider going home for the day. Â While long days weren't abnormal, your schedule was atypical at best, much like your job description. Â
Picking up your pace and rounding the corner towards the hallway that houses your office, you make it all but a half dozen steps before you were colliding with a wall. Â Before you have a chance to consider how you managed to achieve a feat as embarrassing as failing to navigate the floor you've been working in for such an extended period of time, you're saved from the sharp pain of landing on the carpeted but unyielding ground beneath you by a solid tug.
Not a wall, then, you congratulate yourself silently. Â
The pressure of cool hands seeps through the material of your blouse, radiating from the palms on your lower back and bicep. Â The shock of the difference in temperature pricks your skin in a way that is stimulating and not at all unpleasant and the sudden jolt combined with the new sensations sends your mind spinning. Â
Prying your eyes open from where they had squeezed shut in preparation for your anticipated fall, you're met with an expanse of leather pulled over broad shoulders. Â Recognizing your savior's uniform, you don't even try to keep the kittenish expression off of your face as you bring your eyes up to meet his. Â
His features are schooled into one of bold and artful mischievousness, a look that you know he wears with pride often. Â The slight crinkling at the corners of his eyes and the slow spread of his smile is both familiar and welcome.
"Careful, little mouse. Â If you keep running around like that you'll make a habit of getting caught in traps," he purred, unabashedly pulling you forward into the cage of his arms. Â
While the sobriquet was hardly a new development, the surge in physical contact certainly was. Â In the time you had known Loki, neither of you had crossed the boundary of including tactile signals into your unspoken interest in each other beyond the occasional and accidental brushing of skin when standing or passing too close. Â If he was making a move to tip the scales so drastically, you could hardly find it in yourself to stop him. Â
"If all of the traps look like this one then I don't think that I would mind," you replied, basking in the pleasant mix of his earthy musk, something you had likened to sandalwood and rain-soaked soil in your early exchanges, and the chilled surface of his uniform a hair's breadth away from you contrasting with his rapidly warming hands. Â
"I'm afraid to tell you that there aren't any that can compete, it was made by a god after all."
The teasing raise of his eyebrow and tilt of his head was bordering on criminal, which was painfully on-brand for the man, god, in front of you.
"Doesn't every good trap have a treat? Â Or is there some enticing morsel you have hidden away for me?"
"Why, my dear, did you just proposition me?" he questioned, letting his hand on your arm slide to rest on your hip, "Because while that is incredibly flattering and I am aware that I am not exactly the embodiment of gentlemanly charms, I do believe there are some other steps that must be accomplished first. Â Not only by Midgardian standards but also those of 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes', who I believe would return me to my holding cell should I be discovered tainting your believed innocence."
The fact that not only had he taken your bold statement in stride but had also implied that he had considered the possibility and implications of something beyond playful workplace flirting sent a warm buzzing through your chest. Â
"I don't think you need to worry about my innocence, but there is a play being put on downtown if you'd like to join me? Â I've heard that you are quite the playwright yourself."
The comment caused him to tilt his head back with an exasperated huff. Â
"Curse Thor and his tales. Â You know, I have just as many unflattering memories of him to share."
"Oh, I'm sure. Â You'll have to tell me while we eat. Â You do owe me a treat."
His head dropped forward again as he ducked his head close to yours, warm breath tickling your ear as he hummed, "Don't worry, little mouse. Â I have many things planned for you to look forward to."

(Submitting these all together, rather than my original plan to post them bit by bit as parts, since the reaction/addition thing seemed like it was wigging out on me a little bit. Treat this as a reaction/addition, if you can. :P)
Okay, so as there's a cut off now, you're getting my ideas together in bulk, so apologies for that. Some might be a little patchy, as i've not had much time to think over it all. First, though, I want to tell you how fun reading Scattered has been. Only discovered it yesterday, but its been great. Even if you're closing it now, I hope you either open it again in future or do something of a similar vibe.
Anyway, first on the list of random ideas is something that pertains to the changes some of the Hermits have gone through. At first, and for a long time, it seems as if its just Hermits who were stuck in death loops or in a single place for a long time and were forced to adapt who took on these traits... but after over a year of being stuck in the glitched world, it becomes clear its happening to everyone - those with extreme circumstances just had it happen faster.
The first time this becomes apparent is with Stress.
She and False managed to escape from both their coral situation and the months spent travelling - both on their own and with Keralis and Cleo - without any alterations, but after several months back at spawn... Stress begins to feel the cold in a way that she hasn't since Xisuma helped to fix her ice glitch at the start of Season 7. She knows this feeling, and she doesn't like it, but its not exactly the same this time. It feels more malevolent and structured than her free flowing chill was... almost like the powers of an Iceologer. It makes it clear that these adaptations aren't just adaptations. People are just overall reverting to states more reminiscent of the non-player mobs. Death and environment are just catalysts that speed it along. Soon or later, this begins to happen to everyone, to one degree or another.
Changing tack a bit (as I said, putting all my ideas together, now :P), the time they spent together led to them basically being each others' best friend in the glitched world (not shipping, FYI. I appreciate that's not allowed). This experience has changed them, the most explicit shift that Stress' sword skills come along in leaps and bounds under False's guidance. Even long after they reach spawn, if either needs someone to watch their back, they go to the other before anyone else.
Switching tracks again to the outside, as that's something else I still find interesting, I imagine the whole "people not noticing the Hermits are missing at first because they're as the name suggests" thing is exacerbated by this occurring between seasons of MCC (though probably not the current break). A lot of the community gets their news at events like this, so its only really the people who know the Hermits well who notice within a month or so. By the time MCC starts up again, the Legates and a few others are already convening with the Noxcrew to try and figure out a way to find out what's going on, but the first time the wider community catches wind of something being up aside from a Hermit non-attendance is when Noxite pulls Dream aside before the 2nd MCC of the new season - along with any other admins they can get a hold of - for help with a problem. The Dream SMP group are nervous when the green man comes back from that chat seeming rather worried.
Another point to the wider MC universe. If this glitched world issue becomes known, there might be concern that it could spread, depending on what the identified cause ends up being. There could be talks of containing it, only to realize too late that because it snatched inactive Hermits from other servers, whatever it is is mostly likely already out there in the wild.
Seeing a couple of the Sci-crafters end up on the gltiched server of their own will, and you wondered why they'd want the Infinity Portal to send them there, perhaps it was part of a group effort. The groups aware of the rough details of the situation made the journey to the Season 6 world and made a base camp there. Lots of different players pooling their skills and strengths, working together to try and use the Infinity Portal to rescue the Hermits. Mango and Methodz were just the two who volunteered to travel through the glitched world and let the Hermits know that there's a plan to free them. They know there's an almost certain chance they'll be trapped, but between saving their friends, potentially setting up a proper means of communication to the outside, and stopping whatever this is from spreading to other servers, its a sacrifice they're willing to make.
And that's about all the major ideas I have, I think. Wish I had more, and I did have the small thought of the glitched world phenomenon basically being almost like a natural disaster with no surefire way of stopping its effects - the best the Hermits and anyone else can do is damage control, and even that's difficult - but I hadn't given that massive amounts of thought.
In the meantime, i'd like to repeat that I really hope you open this AU again in future given the amount of potential it has, even if that reopening ends up being more of a continuation, with everything before set in stone. For now, though, i'd just like to let you know that i'm attempting to go through the master-posts and other content to put together a visual infographic meant to chart each Hermit's actions and journey through this AU. There's every chance I won't finish it, but given you said you'd still take art after the close time, i'm not going to rush it.
Regardless, this has been great. Thanks for putting this thing together. :D
#false#keralis#stress#zombiecleo#submission#scattered au#Hermitcraft#mod shade#i love all of these ideas so much#also#infographic????#!!!!!!!#it really does feel like it needs one doesn't it#some kind of colour coded diagram#that would be glorious my friend#good luck!!

Please Hate Me //part 32
Fandom: MarvelÂ
Summary: Based on âImagine having a love/hate relationship with Loki.â by @thefandomimagine
There comes a time in one's life when all is said, but still needs to be done, and in a heartbreaking majority of events, it also requires dressing up.Â
You watched Loki pull on the ephemeral, golden threads shifting through the air around his face. "You sure it's working?"
"I know how to cast an illusion, darling," he muttered, focused on the mirror. "It's really not that hard."
"I don't see any difference."Â
"You're not supposed to. It'll only work on strangers."
"So⌠We'll only know if it worked when someone screams?"Â
"I'm touched by how much trust you put in my skills," Loki sneered, with eyes focused on his jaw. You wondered what the face he was working on looked like. Given the intensity, it mustâve been a work of art.Â
Loki sealed the illusion and checked it from every angle. It felt so much better than the shabby mud that monk had plastered onto his face with little finesse. It might've worked against the less intellectual part of the population, but to anyone who had even the slightest knowledge of the high arts, it was no more than a laughable effort.Â
Loki smiled, imagining the clash that would follow if the monk and his excuse of a sorcerer met the Asgardian magic wielders. It would be a sight worth paying for. Loki would make sure to get a seat in the front row.Â
On the other hand, even he had to admit that the bracelet they came up with was a piece of work that he would never expect to find on Earth. Oh, he would've figured out how to get rid of it eventually, of course. There was no denying that. Loki might've figured it out earlier, if he⌠wasn't distracted.Â
He looked at the source of his distraction in the mirror. It was that moment you found something in one of the pockets of your jacket.Â
It was a phone.Â
"I knew we forgot about something."Â
"Is thisâŚ?"Â
"That guy's phone. I didn't manage to unlock it in the end. How about we drop it at the precinct on our way?"Â
Loki frowned. "Won't your officers be suspicious how we came into its possession?"Â
"Not if we magic it in. Anonymously."Â
"...that is not how it works."Â
In the end, it was precisely how it worked.Â
The phone, with a handy little note of explanation, just found itself at the right place, at the right time, without anyone at the precinct noticing.Â
You patted Loki's shoulder. "Nice job. I wish you could teach me a few tricks."Â
"It's not that easy. Your world barely has any magic, so it's difficult to make it comply with one's wishes," Loki said with a hint of sadness as you both turned and walked up the street in the direction of Peter's school.Â
The streets were full of people, busy on their errands. The sun was blinding against the fresh scope of snow. The sky was clear and crystal blue, with the sort of unachievable intensity that almost felt artificial.Â
"What is it like on other worlds?"Â
Loki sighed. Walking so close to you, he could feel the brush of his arm against yours. His hands remained in his pockets, though. The reason wasn't the cold, of course, since he could barely feel the bite of it. His hands, for reasons beyond understanding, kept getting sweaty no matter how many times he discreetly brushed them against the fabric.Â
"Spell casting is⌠essentially, wishing for something to happen, and convincing the world around you that it can become true. Magic is the means by which the world listens to those brave enough to wish. In your world, there's barely any magic. But there are others, where a mere thought shapes reality."
"Must be cool to see that."Â
"It's almost like lying, truth be told. Ancient scholars used to classify it as the same thing, although mostly due to mistakes in translation of the most ancient volumes. Thankfully, I'm skilled in both. It makes life easier."
"Wait...so THAT'S where the whole 'Loki the Prince of Lies' thing comes from? Not that you're a lying, deceptive piece ofâ"Â
"That's quite a touchy topic, you know. I might've⌠meddled in the lives of some very vengeful individuals, who out of pure, unjustified spite might've decided to curse me a littleâ... Wait, why are there children."
Loki stopped dead in his tracks in the middle of the pavement.Â
In front of him, as far he could see, stretched a sea of colorful stalls surrounded by a writhing mass of people, dominated by younglings in all shapes, forms, and levels of noise.Â
You looked at him and back at the crowd. "It just kinda happens that this huge building right there is Peter's school. And this very school is organising the science fair for the kids attending it. Who, right now, are taking part in it. Here."Â
Loki's frown deepened as he comprehended the mess. Groups seemed to form around the stalls, children and adults alike. It would be difficult for a stranger to guess what was being presented on some of the tables, and indeed, Loki couldn't guess it either. Some seemed to flash chemical reactions aimed to showcase colorful effects, mostly to the entertainment of the youngest offspring roaming freely around. Other tables were filled with equipment that surely took a lot of time to build, and even more to explain. Loki was quick to be bored by those.Â
While swallowed by the crowds pressing on from every angle, you called Peter, pressing the phone to your ear close enough to hear him over the overwhelming noise.Â
There were attempts at bringing order to the gathering, and some spaces had been less prone to chaos than others. Those, usually, were centered around food.Â
"Ooh, I like that too," you said, putting the phone away at last.Â
Following Loki's gaze, your eyes fell on the delicious looking snacks. The smell drove you insane and seemed to do the trick on the trickster too. You watched as some kids walked by, chewing on the deliciousness. Then you looked at the queue. A very orderly, and very long queue.Â
"Hey, Loki."Â
"Yes, darling?"Â
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"Â
"To my great surprise, I think I might be. Magic truly is a blessing."Â
Peter found you not so long afterwards, when you were finishing the second round of magically-brought treats. Of course, you made sure an equivalent amount of cash appeared where it should. You didn't fall so low yet to outright steal from kids.Â
"Mr. Mischief!" screamed over the heads of strangers was what caught Loki's attention. And the impact of a teenage body jumping right at him was what squeezed the air out of his lungs.Â
"Hello, boy," Loki muttered. You gave him thumbs up.Â
"I love the way you smell," Peter pressed his face a little more into the god's chest.Â
Loki blinked. "Thank you, boy."Â
Peter finally unplastered himself from the god and took the both of you in with such genuine joy that you couldn't stop a smile from spreading on your face. He was dressed up in a spotless shirt he kept tugging on. You whiffed a smell of cologne definitely not suited for his age.Â
"Someone's nervous," you teased Peter. "I wonder what would've happened if we forgot your ring⌠"Â
"Please, tell me you didn't!"Â
"Of course we didn't." You pulled it out of your pocket. So many happy moments were connected to that ring, you almost missed it already. So much cakeâŚÂ
Peter immediately tucked it away in the pocket on his chest, glancing around himself. If, by any chance, that one special someone was anywhere near, he wanted to know.Â
He noticed you watching him. "I'm not nervous. I'm just cautious."Â
"Whatever you say, Peter. It's your call."Â
Despite his words, Peter couldn't stay in place. "Come on, guys. I gotta show you my project before we present them all!"Â
Going any further into the mass of people was the last thing Loki wanted to do. The day was bright and chilly and the place Peter was leading them to was unmistakably a sports hall where the more ambitious, and temperature-sensitive projects had been placed.Â
Loki, theoretically, of course, began wondering how he could disappear without anyone noticing. People got lost all the time and no one made a fuss about it. As much as he might not hate the kid, he wasn't interested much in high school projects of dubious chemical reactions, shown in stuffy, smelly interiors.Â
As if you could hear his thoughts, you turned your head to face him. "I hope it works out. He's been working his ass off for the past few weeks to impress MJ."Â
Before Loki answered, he noticed your outstretched hand. His heart skipped a beat, and jumped into his throat out of surprise. It was a pure coincidence, and a completely normal, random thing to feel, and there was absolutely nothing behind itâŚ
Your hand was warm and felt right in his own.Â
Of course Loki didn't get distracted. He just so happened to miss the moment when you reached Peter's lab table, densely occupied by all manner of gadgets and parts, with the main construction hovering above the rest.Â
Peter didn't notice Loki's state. He was focused on all the things that still needed to be put in place or cleaned off the table before the presentation began.Â
"It's okay, I've got it all under control," Peter said, hiding a few screws in his pocket. "The teachers are probably going to start with the tables over there, so mine would be second to last, which gives me plenty of time toâ"Â
Plans are good as long as all the parties involved are aware of them. In Peter's case, the teachers weren't.Â
Peter's face went pale when he noticed the commission arriving at the table to his right. His eyes were wide and frozen in utter terror.Â
And then he desperately tried to scramble everything together in record time.
You tried to help him, but you had absolutely no idea how. All you could do was watch him panic through the preparations at light speed. Loki squeezed your hand. "The boy will do fine."Â
The boy was not so sure.Â
He barely noticed when his classmates encircled the table, wishing him good luck and sharing advice that vanished from his head in seconds.Â
Despite that, Peter managed to clean his table as much as he could before the teachers neared, with notepads in their hands. They tactfully ignored loose parts laying behind him.Â
Loki caressed the back of your hand in a reassuring gesture. You both listened to Peter give the explanation of his project, with his voice wavering only a little. Peter started to go through all the steps he had prepared, pointing out all the important details as things you had no idea about changed on the table. The boy was pale, but did his best during the whole process, and as he moved to present the project, you almost believed he had everything under control.Â
He didn't.Â
In the moment of the biggest tension, when everyone was waiting for the results, they didn't come.Â
There was a second of pure, unfiltered panic on Peter's face. He froze, eyes plastered to the unquestionable lack of any result.Â
Your elbow jabbed Loki's ribs. The ribs were slowly getting used to it.Â
"Please, help him," you whispered with urgency.Â
"What am I supposed to do from here?" Loki frowned. He was tall and could see everything from over people's heads, but it didn't change the fact that there was a row of bodies tightly pressed together between him and the boy.Â
"I don't know, magic something up."Â
"Magic somethingâIt doesn't work like that!"Â
"Then make it. Are you the Prince of Lies or not?"Â
Loki frowned, torn between looking at you and Peter at the same time. "Oh, blast itâŚ"Â
The results, preferably big and flashy, were what the commission was waiting for. Loki gave them results.Â
Peter's eyes went wide when his project, that had been completely silent for the past few seconds, suddenly gave fruit to absolutely outstanding results. They were applauded, scored, and noted with grateful smiles as the commission moved to the next table.Â
And completely not what was supposed to happen.Â
Peter was still frozen in shock as he got encircled by his classmates, and showered in compliments and questions. The shock was still bright on his face as he was dragged further down the line of tables, to support the next unlucky friend.Â
Loki followed the boy with his eyes. It looked like no one had noticed that something was not adding up. Loki had a very general idea of what Peter's project was supposed to do, since the lack of time prevented the boy from showing them the final product of weeks of hard work. He wondered which of the girls around Peter was that MJ.Â
"I can't believe it worked," he muttered to himself, lost in thoughts just as Peter got lost in the crowd.Â
"Thank you. You did great."Â
Loki huffed, but couldn't stop the hint of a smile from ghosting over his lips. He supposed he'd have to answer a lot of questions once the boy was freed and jumped him again, but even that idea didn't feel so bad. It felt good to be appreciated and welcome in places and events that were important to someone. He was strangely glad someone wanted him to be a part of their life.Â
Loki's breath caught in his throat as your arm slipped around his waist. A nervous, careful presence hugged him for a second, melting any and all resolve he might've still possessed at that point.Â
"You're awesome. Wanna steal some more candy with me again?" your voice asked into his neck that suddenly ran with goosebumps. Accidentally, of course.Â
But there was nothing accidental about the way Loki leaned into the hug, welcoming it with a feather-light touch to your back.Â
"With you? Always, love."

Did you think I was joking when I said my Monkie Kid, Nagi, becomes a pseudo therapist for the team? FOOLISH, SHAPESHIFTING MEANS FREE THERAPY! But I have no idea what this is, I just started writing for some hurt/comfort (I think) post episode 9 and wanted to post it without editing because why not? Plus I just wanted to do some more with Nagi since itâs been a hot minute since I talked about her.
Enjoy and hopefully you get some chuckle worthy mental images like it did for me!
It was an odd sensation to Nagi, shapeshifting that is.
The closest way she could describe it is like that of her body becoming clay, free to be morphed into anything that she desired as long as she had a clear image in her head and enough practice. Hair length, color, height, weight, vocal cords, all were free for her to change and allow herself to fit into any setting like a chameleon. Or more accurately, like a snake camouflaged into its surroundings, waiting for the perfect moment to strike at its prey.
The sensation of always feeling like she was hiding among others was one Nagi had felt since birth.
It had only gotten worse with the sacrifices forced on her that made her shapeshifting even stronger.
Some days, she felt like her ability to become anyone was more trouble than it was worth.
But this was certainly not one of those days.
âAre you sure about this kiddo? Remember, the moment it becomes too much for you, all you gotta do is say something and Iâll shift into something else. This is meant to help you above all else, got it?â Nagi lectured for what felt like the third time, wanting to hammer in the point to MK before they began. When the little guy had entered her cave at the crack of dawn asking for a favor, this was certainly not what she was expecting.
Then again, Nagi was still a sluggish mess when MK had shaken her from her slumber in a frantic desperation.
âUhhh, whatâs goinâ on kid? What time is it?â She slurred, noting the faint rays of blue, pink, and orange barely providing a break from the darkness in her cave. The last traces of sleep snapped away from her eyes once she took notice of MK who, to put it bluntly, was an absolute mess.
Dark rings circled his eyes, hair a tousled mess without his signature headband, and clothes rumpled as if he had slept in them. Though Nagi genuinely questioned if he had even slept throughout the night. Wait, were those bruises?
âNagi can you⌠can you shift into someone youâve never met before?â MK asked, completely ignoring her questions. He seemed almost tense as he stood at the edge of Nagiâs nest, a giant cluster of pillows that she had collected over the years.
âThat depends bud. If you give me a detailed enough picture, then sure. No guarantee Iâll have the voice right, but it can be done. Why do you ask? You need my help with something?â She pulled herself out of her nest, letting out a groan as her stiff bones cracked yet kept her eyes on MK. He seemed almost relieved at this answer, heavy shoulders relaxing the slightest bit before pulling out one of his many sketchbooks from his jacket. Pages were flipped through with frantic speed before he found what he was looking for, practically shoving the book in Nagiâs face.
At first she had thought it was a drawing of Sun Wukong until she took notice of the dark fur and, more importantly, the almost sadistic smirk on his face. He was surrounded by shadows that seemed to sprout from the ground at his feet, all with matching grins and empty purple eyes. Overall, it was certainly an ominous picture of an individual that Nagi hoped to never have the misfortune of meeting.
But evidently, MK did.
âWould that work?â Okay, now MK was starting to make her worried.
âUhhh⌠sure, yeah. And not that this isnât a wonderful art, but you mind telling me who this guy is? A friend of Sun Wukongâs perhaps?â Nagi asked and internally winced when he seemed to flinch at the question. MK was silent for a moment, as if debating with himself whether to tell her, before simply giving a sigh.
âThatâs Macaque. I⌠Iâll tell you more later, I promise. I just need you to do this important favor for me.â She was starting to not like where this was going. But the demon could never say no to the kid, the heavens help her.
âAlright, you already know Iâm willing to kill for you so out with it bud.â
âI need you to shift into Macaque and just⌠I donât know, whatever with me. I just want to not be afraid of his face anymore,â MK mumbled, his knuckles white at how tight he was holding on to his sketchbook. All sorts of alarm bells were going off in Nagiâs head at this and a part of her wanted to push for more information now, so she can find this Macaque and skin him alive. But that wasnât going to help MK right now, so she pushed that heat in her chest down.
âAlright, that I think I can do bud. Let me go get my rollerblades and KO!â
And that led to where they were now, at the outskirts of the city with Nagi wanting nothing more to ensure that MK was comfortable.
âI know, I know Nagi! Just⌠do it before I chicken out, please?â
âAlright, alright, as long as youâre sure.â With that, Nagi closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She focused on the image MK had given her and felt her very being soften like clay to be molded. Her hair morphed into thick, black fur which spread over her body, clothes shifted to match the armored garments in the drawing, and she gained a familiar tail and large ears. It felt none too different to when she shifts into the Monkey King himself if she were to be honest.
Yet the look of uneasiness and fear Nagi was met with when she opened her eyes made her want nothing more to shift into anybody else.
âYou still with me MK?â She asked tentatively, remaining perfectly still despite her wanting to scoop him up in a hug. MK gave another flinch, this time at hearing Nagiâs squeaky, hissy voice coming out of what looked like Macaque yet at the same time he couldnât help but chuckle at the bizarre contrast. It quickly became a full on laugh as Nagi gave him an expression of exaggerated offense, the demon quickly catching on to the best idea on how to make this face less terrifying.
âIâm- Iâm sorry, but hearing your voice come out of Macaqueâs mouth is too funny!â He stuttered and the ache in her heart started to lighten up, just relieved to see the young man not as tense.
âIâll have you know I have the voice of a goddess, young man!â Nagi said with an over-the-top huff, hands on her hips and a pout on her face. That only caused another bout of uncontrollable giggles from MK and she couldnât help the smile on her face before taking the opportunity to put on her rollerblades. She was completely aware of how ridiculous she looked since said rollerblades were bright pink and decorated with numerous stickers courtesy of Mei.
Oh, Nagi was going to have so much fun ruining this Macaqueâs reputation, whoever he was.
âNow, do me a favor and push me. Iâm gonna skate down this entire hill backwards!â
âIsnât that, I donât know, kind of dangerous?â
âOh it is, which is why Iâm doing it and not you.â
Despite the look of skepticism on his face, that was enough for MK as he gave her a hearty shove. Nagi didnât bother to hold back the scream of both terror and joy as gravity pulled her down the hill, frantic giggles punctuating the air. MK merely watched the spectacle with amusement as Nagi continued on into the city streets. She practically flew past confused pedestrians at the speed she was going, a number of those did double takes to be sure of what they saw.
The sound of a crash caused him to wince and quickly use the staff to pole vault over to where the demon had come to an unfortunate stop.
âYou okay?!â Despite being covered in trash and hit a dumpster hard enough to make a dent in the metal, Nagi looked giddy as a child.
âIâm all good bud, thankfully I didnât break my spine so it was totally worth it!â She said, prying herself out of her dumpster crater and happily brushed herself off. Seeing such a toothy but genuine smile combined with Macaqueâs face was strange to MK, but he managed to not flinch as Nagi rose to her full height so it was a start. âWant to hit the arcade next? Or are you too afraid of your big sister beating you at all your favorite games?â
That certainly perked him up.
âOh youâre so on!â
âThatâs the spirit! Race you!â And like that, Nagi was off again though at a much more controlled speed and MK wasnât too far behind.
âHey thatâs not fair, youâre on rollerblades!â
Up above the streets on his nimbus, Sun Wukong watched the two with an unidentifiable expression.
âNo way, you absolutely cheated!â MK repeated for the third time, being carried on piggyback by Nagi as the demon skated down to Pigsyâs Noodles. It was now dusk and the both of them were still riding the high of spending a whole day goofing off for therapeutic purposes.Â
âI donât know, that sounds like sore loser talk to me. But⌠did you have a good time bud? How are you feeling?â Nagi asked, tone turning completely serious. MK was quiet a moment, tightening his grip around her shoulders the slightest bit before speaking.
âYeah, yeah I had a great time. I feel⌠weird. Because a part of me knows that I spent the day with you, not⌠him. But at the same time, Iâm gonna remember you crashing into a dumpster if I ever see his face again and possibly die from laughing.â
âThen it sounds like my work here is done, ruining reputations is my forte after all!â She came to stop in front of the noodle shop, ears downturned in disappointment. Yet the demon still put MK down, knowing that Pigsy would have her head if she kept the kid out after dark when he had work the next day. âBut Iâm glad I could help you out kiddo. You get some good rest, alright? Iâll be around to bother you and Pigsy tomorrow.â
And Nagi thought that would be that, until she found herself pulled into a tight hug by MK.
âThank you.â
She returned the hug without hesitation.
âDonât mention it.â
Nagi stayed put until she was sure MK made it inside his apartment safely before turning around to return to her cave. After such a busy day, she was ready to curl up in her nest and finish that book Tang had loaned her weeks ago. Maybe brew some tea while she was at it.
Or that was the plan, until she caught the scent of peaches and mischief on her serpentine tongue as she stopped at the entrance of her cave.
âOh no, not him,â Nagi groaned, secretly hoping that was just the remnants of MKâs scent. Unfortunately that was not the case as she walked inside to find the Monkey King lounging about her home like he owned the place and eating her apples. Resisting the urge to lose it for that alone, the demon took a deep breath and forced a smile that was all teeth.
âSun Wukong, to what do I owe the pleasure?â She said as if it were anything but a pleasure to be around him. Despite the venom in her tone, the Monkey King continued to lazily chomp on an apple as he finally faced her. Her displeasure quickly evaporated once she noticed how tense he seemed despite the forced nonchalance.
âHey Nag, took you forever to get here! Saw you hanging out with the kid today.â And despite his attempt to sound serious, Nagi could only blame hanging out with Mei and MK for what she said next.
âR-Rebecca itâs not what you think!âÂ
âI wonât hesitate bitch!â Seems the Monkey King has been around the kids too long too.
They were both silent for a moment in an attempt to process what happened before the tension broke as they both giggled.
âI donât know what to tell you man. He just woke me up this morning, asked me if I could shift into this guy called Macaque, and we just did dumb, fun stuff all day. Went out of my way to make the kid laugh until I was sure heâd lose a lung. But he never did tell me why he was so afraid of this faceâŚâ Tea. She really needed tea right now. So tea she began to make, not even realizing she had grabbed two cups and was making peach tea until it was too late.
âOh he didnât, huh?â Nagi gave him a silent nod, tail twitching in agitation as silence took over again.
âWhat did this guy do to the kid Wukong? What happened?â
âItâs a long story but let me say you donât need to hunt him down because we beat him up plenty, it was mainly the kid though.â His pride in MK was infectious as she found herself smiling at that, handing Sun Wukong a mug of warm peach tea as she sat down next to him.
âGood, saves me the effort of doing it myself. I wonât push if either of you donât want to tell me. But⌠listen, Iâm not just here to help the kid and the others. You annoy the hell out of me but Iâm here for you too Wukong. Thatâs what family does, right?â
The Monkey King was silent at that yet leaned in when Nagi wrapped her tail around his shoulders to gently pull him closer.
âThanks Nag.â
âYouâre welcome.â

Magic and Miracles and BEYOND
Chapter 16
Now that there is physical trauma, let's explore the mental trauma shall we? Good thing Dr. Gentiana Glacian is here to help. Let the healing begin.
@the-immortal-marshal this is one is also for you. Enjoy.
Magic and Miracles and BEYOND
Chapter 16
Tredd poured over the medical textbooks that Sylva had given him, one of which he would need to become an EMT, and others that would help him understand what the medical textbooks were saying that explained what different medical terms meant as Ravus was doing the same as Sylva was already ordering new replacements to the books she had given out and placed other orders for other things for Ravus and Tredd respectfully before she went to the pharma section of her hospital and got a two sets of project recovery and went to Sabrinaâs room first to administer the first dose to her so that Sabrina would make a full recovery before she then went to Selenaâs room to deliver the second set of it and administered it just before Selenaâs boss, Wilson Foster and his wife Tammy came in.
âHey, how are you feeling Sweetie?â Will asked, kicking into father mode since his own kids were close in age to Selena, a few years older though and were already in college.
âEverything hurts.â Selena answered honestly. âI broke four ribs, punctured my liver and my lungs and my arm was broken in two places and I have a pretty bad concussion.â Selena revealed as the lights in the room continued to stay low, so as not to aggravate it.
âOh bless your heart and soul, you are one tough cookie to make it through all that, we are just so grateful and thankful you survived and should be making it through. And having your mom with you, Iâll bet both of you were very worried about the other. Well, we wanted to come and see what we could possibly do to help, besides hoping and praying that you pull through just fine.â Tammy offered as she sat down in the chair with her folder while Will put the flowers they had gotten for her on the ledge by the window.
âI donât know if there is anything you can do.â Selena answered honestly, fearing the worst now that they were here. Yesterday, Craig had asked Ravus and Selena if he could inform his family about what happened and Ravus and Selena had given their permission and at the time, all the response Craig had gotten back was that everyone in his family were praying for Selena and her family.
âWell actually there is, you see, back in the beginning of September, when you were hired on as a part time designing assistant and I believe this counts as a âqualifying life eventâ and wouldnât you know it, last weekend when you were in, we got so busy with the customers we forgot to tell you that you got a promotion, and with that promotion and with this qualifying life event, we wanted to come and make you aware that you are officially a remote associate designer so you donât need to come into the office until you are fully recovered and can do any work you feel like doing from any computer and these are your login credentials in the various computer systems and passcodes for the licences for all the programs that we use and run in the office. And that position does come with a raise and of course insurance options, which I hope you donât mind but we went ahead already accepted on your behalf, I hope you can forgive us if we overstepped ourselves, but gosh darn it, wouldnât you know it, it all happened about a week ago, we are just so sorry we didnât get a chance to tell you until just now.â Tammy explained as she opened her folder and set the paperwork in front of Selena as Selena just started crying as Sylva and Ravus got choked up too by the wonderful gesture.
âWe already scanned in your signature, if you can just try to make your initials with your left hand best you can, thatâs all we need from you.â Tammy requested.
âThank you.â Selena offered as she used the box of tissues near her to soak up her grateful tears as Ravus was also grateful and relieved and moved by the gesture as well as he hugged Wilson and Tammy quite hard before Sylva hugged them too before Wilson and Tammy both hugged Selena as hard as they dared.
âThank you guys, so, so much for this.â Ravus thanked them gratefully.
âOh and you should know, that this has nothing to do with who youâre engaged to. Every client youâve helped out with has had nothing but the highest praise for you and your already wonderful talent, so you earned this on your own Selena, you should know that.â Wilson insisted.
âDitto.â Tammy grinned as she handed Selena one of her pens as Selena took the pen and happily tried to sign her initials with her left hand.
âCongratulations on the promotion, now, there is nothing left for you to do but become familiar with all the programs on your own time and schedule as you want to. And whenever you do get to a point where youâre fully healed, just let us know when youâre ready to come into the office. But otherwise, donât worry about anything but healing and recovering. And watch for those insurance cards and things in your mail and as long as you can log into the programs about once a week or so, just to sign in, you donât have to do anything other than sign in but that signing in is all we need for the systems to recognize that youâre still working so the paychecks can still be cut on a weekly basis and the insurance can still cover you because itâll show you up as a current employee, who is salaried rather than hourly.â Tammy offered.
âYou guys are the best, thank you so, so, so much.â Selena offered.
âWell youâre going to be the best too. Weâre the lucky ones to have you, just get better ok Sweetie? Thatâs all you got to do now.â Tammy reassured her as she squeezed Selenaâs left hand reassuringly before Selenaâs grandparents and other family came into the room, with more flowers and cards in hand.
âWell letâs get out of your hair. You got more company. You call us if you need anything ok? Anything at all, weâre happy to help any way we can.â Wilson insisted as he tugged on Tammyâs sleeve so that she could see that Selenaâs family had come in as Tammy took the contract out of the folder to scan it into her systems and folded it to put it into her purse but left everything else there for Selena and Ravus to go through when they got a chance.
âThank you, oh I should introduce you guys, this is Wilson and Tammy Foster, the owners of Fosterâs Design, Architecture and Construction Incorporated, Selenaâs employers, they came to personally deliver the best news...â Ravus introduced Wilson to Selenaâs grandparents and the rest of her family before Selena told her family what the Fosters had done for her as her family practically squealed in delight as William and Tammy were immediately pulled into big hugs and emphatically thanked before they were taken to Sabrinaâs room with Dorian as word spread quickly as Selena laid in bed and smiled relief, because laughing would hurt too much, feeling a weight she hadnât realized she was carrying being lifted off of her.
âSee? Itâs all working out.â Ravus urged his fiance as he settled in next to her again before he took a look at what all she had signed and grinned when the offer itself was exceedingly generous before Regis came into the hospital and asked to pull Wilson and Tammy aside and talk to them about an idea he had about helping Selena as well that Wilson and Tammy immediately and eagerly agreed before he came into Selenaâs room as Sylva revealed what Wilson and Tammy had done for Selena.
âYes, I know I passed them in the hallway and Selenaâs family told me all about it already. I also came to tell you some good newsâŚâ Regis began.
âSo I know this is your senior year. However, because you were smart enough to get all of your requisite courses done as of last year, that meant that this year could be spent getting your miscellaneous credits in, like arts and drama and any âfunâ classes you wanted to take. So because of that, I talked with your teachers who agreed to greatly reduced work considering your accident and current conditions and I compiled it onto this single piece of paper, so you have until December, which I know is only a couple of months away, but if you will complete these four projects, which shouldnât take you much time or energy to do so, so no rush on these. But I asked Wilson if he would sign off on having you spend what time youâve had at his place of business count as extra miscellaneous credits, which he and Tammy agreed to sign off on as well so that means, that if you can complete just these four little projects by December 15th. You can graduate early and get your diploma and all that as well.â Regis offered as he handed Selena the slip of paper that had the projects and their components filled in as Selena started crying again as she nodded.
âThank you so much.â Selena thanked Regis as Ravus got up and hugged Regis tightly, getting choked up too as Sylva was already crying too.
âThank you so much Dad.â Ravus thanked his step father genuinely.
âYouâre welcome, Iâm so sorry sheâs hurt but itâs the best I can do to help.â Regis offered into Ravusâ embrace.
âIt means the world to us, thank you.â Ravus reassured him as he pulled away and wiped his grateful tears away but his smile was so bright and thankful as Selena gestured for Regis to come closer so she could hug him too.
âI swear to God if the dean at the community college comes in next and says I just graduated with honors, Iâm screaming.â Selena joked which got everyone to laugh, including herself before she clutched her side before Sylva looked at the time and went ahead and gave her more pain killers a few minutes early and put it into the computer.
âWell I did actually contact your college and informed them of the updates in your current condition.â Ravus confessed.
âAs did I.â Sylva confessed.
âAs did I.â Regis added.
âOh Jesus.â Selena grinned with a playful roll of her eyes but a grateful and appreciative smile nonetheless.
âYou are loved, completely and unreservedly by everyone around you, you just get to feel as well as know that you are right now.â Sylva explained with a bright, knowing smile as she reached over and squeezed Selenaâs shoulder before there was a knock on the door.
âWho is it?â Selena asked, almost wearily.
âItâs just me, Nancy, your nurse, here to make sure that the tube in your side is still draining excess liquid from around your punctured lung.â Nancy said as she came into the room with her special cart as Sylva pulled herself and Regis out of the way so that Nancy could work on Selena in privacy.
âThis is looking really good actually, oh to be young with a really healthy immune system again.â Nancy gently teased as she took the soaked dressings off and replaced them before making sure everything was still working correctly and pulled some blood for panals from Selena's picc line in her left arm so that she wouldn't have to keep getting injections or moving her IV and as she made sure none of her other scrapes or bruises or anything was getting infected before she noticed that Sylva had given Selena her pain meds early before she administered an anti- nausea medication to go along with the pain medication and because having a concussion can cause extreme nausea.
âAnd some good olâ promethazine for nausea so you can eat, you guys should order lunch while you have the chance.â Nancy suggested.
âOoh, yeah, definitely.â Selena said as she got the menu from the drawer of her tray table and looked over the menu as Selena picked out what sounded somewhat good to her as Ravus did the same before Ravus called it in.
And in the afternoon, when their various friends came to check up on them, they were also overjoyed to learn about the news and developments and offered their congratulations to Selena for the âpromotionâ and her âearly graduationâ which left Iris to announce that she was also graduating early, in December as well so that she could work with her mom with the K-9 units full time so that in December, they were all free of Lucis High as Craig especially was so happy relieved to find out what his uncle and aunt had done for Selena.
Within the week, Sabrina had made a good recovery, enough to be released from the hospital. Selena though was still considered âICUâ and still received round the clock care and had gotten no less than three Project Recovery sets in that week, as Ravus practically moved into her hospital room with her and the only times he left her side was to go to the bathroom and get a shower as their friends and family took turns doing Ravusâ laundry and had cleaned out their fridge so that nothing would rot into their refrigerator as their dogs âtook turnsâ being snuck into the hospital, wearing âsupport animalâ gear as all of Ravusâ and Selenaâs animals seemed instinctively become aware that Selena was wounded and hurting and offered as much comfort they could for their visits.
Bunny, the black newfoundland being the most comforting as she tried to jump into the bed itself but having Selena and Ravus keeping her from doing so as Selena rolled over to her left side and did her best to pet and soothe Bunny the best she could as Ravus held Bunny up, who was only 6 months old at this point, but already massive as Bunny, who was named that by Dani, was so happy and grateful to see her again, even Duchess was brought in, also wearing a âsupport animalâ harness which she wasnât thrilled about but she came and laid near Selenaâs chest and purred loudly as Luche and Ada had gladly taken all the petâs food and toys and beds and things and moved them over to their house since they were right next door to continue to care for their pets while Ravus and Selena were in the hospital.
Thankfully after two and a half weeks, Selena was downgraded from âICUâ status so that the nurses and doctors were not coming in almost every hour or even two hours during the night as Selena was encouraged to sleep as much as possible to help recover as Ravus continued to keep Selena company, working from his laptop only when absolutely necessary when Selena would take multiple naps throughout the day but otherwise was voracious in his own reading and gaining as much medical knowledge as he could to understand what his mother and the other medical staff were saying while in the room so he could fully understand what the impact to Selena had been and would continue to be going forward but because of his âoverprotectiveâ nature. He soon got a reputation himself with the staff.
âKnock, Knock, itâs Dr. Gentiana Glacian, you can just call me Anna though,â Anna greeted as she came into see them as Selena and Ravus were just finishing up eating their lunch.
âHey,â Selena greeted as Ravus was happy and relieved to see her too.
âSo, how are you holding up Selena?â Anna asked as she snagged a chair and sat down.
âI hurt all over. It hurts to breathe, to move really, but the concussion healed so yay- no more hallucinations or ridiculous nausea.â Selena confessed.
âYeah, concussions can do that. And with having a near death experience, thatâs a lot of trauma in itself. So besides the physical pain, are you experiencing any mental pain? Anguish? Anger? Resentment? Bitterness? Spitefullness? Aggression? Confusion?â Anna asked casually beore Selena turned to Ravus and gave him a pointed and meaningful look.
âAll of the above.â Ravus confessed guiltily.
âTell me about it.â Anna invited as she pulled a little notebook and a pen from her pocket to make notes.
âUh, well, I went to school with Billy and Chad and they were friends with Andrew and Andrew was a psychopath and Billy and Chad were jocks and self entitled pricks who took bribes to hurt her brother, like actually tried to maim him and were stupid and reckless and nearly killed Selena because they were having a stupid pissing contest.â Ravus explained, despite the relative calm in his voice, there was a real rage whirling in his chest and still a seething bite to his tone.
âWhich is all valid and correct.â Anna nodded.
"And what about you Selena? How do you feel about what happened?" Anna asked thoughtfully.
âHonestly I just feel like my mom and I were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I think it was just a coincidence that they were the ones that hit us. I donât think they thought any of it through and were just being stupid, reckless teenagers, and even though it was horrible, I donât think they meant any malice to me or my family inparticularly at least in this instance. With Nyx, that shit was made personal because of Andrew and his past toxic relationship with Luna. Gladio told me the day after the accident, that both of them and their families nearly crapped their pants when they found out that it was me, Ravusâ fiance and my mom that they hit and I have already heard that they reached out to Sylva to try to see if Ravus and I would even accept an apology from them and Sylva has used me ICU status to keep from giving them an answer.â Selena offered.
âAn apology isnât going to fix your liver or your lung or your broken arm or your concussion or your brain damage. They need to pay for what damage they have done.â Ravus insisted adamantly as Selena looked even more exasperated and exhausted as Gentiana could tell that they had had this conversation privately at least a few times by now.
âAnd they will. Theyâre paying for it right now with their own injuries and their own insurance premiums are about skyrocket because everyone who was hurt by their recklessness is going to be doing a class action lawsuit against them, which we are going to be doing and you are already pressing charges against them personally and they will be persecuted to the fullest extent the law allows. Iâm just afraid that that wonât be enough for you and youâre going to want to go full- eye for an eye, pound of flesh kind of thing. If it had been any other people who were not Andrewâs friends, who did not used to go to school with you when you were in your own 'stupid teenager phase', who had not taken bribes from currently dead- psychopaths, who you yourself used to be friends with and that guilt still to this day, eats at you and itâs rearing itâs ugly head right now and I think youâre taking this way more personally that it needs or should be.â Selena insisted to Ravus as she held his hand and squeezed it three times for emphasis as Ravus practically pouted and frowned at her.
âHonestly if it had been anyone else, anyone else in the world, I think you would be satisfied with the class action lawsuit, and be done with it, if they were from any other school, I donât think you would be this adamant that they pay drop of blood for drop of blood, because Iâve heard you huffing and puffing and grumbling and seething curses at them when you think Iâm sleeping. I think youâre trying your hardest to take revenge on my behalf, which Luna and Nyx didnât even get a chance to do, even though with Nyx, it was a personal attack and he never got to see justice and I know you like to think that this is your best way to get revenge and get justice for him too, but even he and Luna have let that go when Andrew died and Andrewâs former friends and associates all came clean about all of the shit he was into because he could no longer go after them and Nyx already got an apology from them and I think we should do the same, accept the apologies with grace, because even though we personally have never done anything like this, I think we can show a little more sympathy for 'stupid things- stupid teenagers do', forgive them for their mistakes and accept their payment for said mistakes, with again- grace and a little humility and mildness.â Selena suggested as Ravus just flushed with shame because she was right as he scrunched up his face in a reluctant scowl.
âAnd I know you love me immeasurably. I know you love me more than anyone else in the world and I know you got really scared that you almost lost me and how you were going to implode if you did and probably take up drinking again and most likely drink yourself to death without me. And I think this experience is proving to be more traumatic for you, than it is for me. I mean you wonât leave my side for any other reason but to bathe and relieve yourself, you refuse to even go to the cafe to get coffee or tea because the bathroom is the farthest you have gotten from me and you donât fall asleep before I do and you wake yourself up before I do and you are barely getting any sleep because you wake up every time anyone knocks or comes through that door and youâre grilling every nurse that comes in and keeping everyone on their toes and walking on eggshells and youâre making everyone anxious around you and you're scaring everyone, including me, because their nervousness makes me nervous.â Selena pointed out.
âWhy is that Rae?â Anna asked.
âBecause Iâm terrified that if I leave, sheâll get a bad nurse or doctor who doesnât know what the hell their doing or get a blood clot or have a complication or could die and she needs to have the best of the best looking after her and Iâm worried that if anything could go wrong- I wonât be here, my place is here with her and Iâm not leaving this room unless you are leaving this room with me and we get to go home.â Ravus insisted to Anna and then to Selena.
"Ravus, I'm literally in the VIP section of the hospital, your mother's hospital, hell it practically is your hospital too, I might add, I even look at this call button and I have three people coming in here to help with anything I could ever ask for. They're not letting any rookie fresh out of medical school anywhere near me. I'm already having the best of the best taking care of me and they are doing wonderfully. We have a butler for crying out loud. What part of any of this gives you any reason to think or feel that I won't be taken care of?" Selena pressed.
âI just...I have a fear that if I don't keep vigilent, another accident will happen." Ravus admitted.
"Which is a valid trauma response." Anna pointed out.
"So do you think that because Ravus wasn't in the accident himself, he shouldn't have a trauma response?" Anna questioned Selena.
"...ok. Maybe I didn't fully realize that he would be that traumatized too." Selena admitted.
"Well Ravus has already lost parent, and in that instance, he was helpless to do anything about it. And with your accident, that put him in the same exact situation again, yet here he is with one, two, three..five medical text books on that stand next to the couch." Anna pointed out.
"Ok, I'm sorry, I didn't see it that way. However I still feel that itâs a bit much, like itâs overcompensating and I think itâs coming off as the way those obsessive, controlling boyfriends who can be abusive because all of my nurses conveniently wait until youâre in the shower to ask me if Iâm ok or need help and they have all gone to your mother to voice their concerns that youâre one of those types. I know you arenât coming from that place but itâs coming off that way regardless. Plus, even if you had taken off of work and picked me up and had been driving me yourself and had taken that route which the route we were taking was the best route for time, we still would have gotten in that accident and you would be in the room next door instead of my mom and then both of us would be losing our minds with worry for the other.â Selena answered.
âAnd I know youâre not usually this obsessive or controlling but youâre turning into it. And it honestly scares me and itâs scaring everyone else.â Selena insisted as Anna was writing as fast as her hand could let her.
â....ok I didnât realize I was coming off that way. I'm sorry.â Ravus finally admitted.
"And I'm sorry that I haven't seen how this has affected and traumatized you too." Selena offered.
âAnd Iâm very worried that youâre going to overcompensate some more by not letting me get behind the wheel, ever again or ride with anyone but you and you will turn into the most defensive driver on the planet going ten under the speed limit and blaring that horn if anyone even inches towards the center line.â Selena voiced.
â....I...ok, you may have a point, I may, I may be looking at replacing our cars with hummers.â Ravus admitted.
âOnly because actual tanks arenât legal?â Selena questioned, albeit a little sarcastically.
âMaybe.â Ravus stuck his tongue out teasingly which got Selena to crack a wry grin which got Anna to smile fondly as she continued to take notes.
"So here is what I would like to see, it was awesome that you guys could come to an understanding about the current situation and see things from each other's perspective. That's wonderful that you were able to do that. Selena, again, be mindful that this traumatic event isn't just traumatic for you, but for everyone else involved, especially Ravus because you are his everything." Anna reminded Selena.
âAnd Ravus, do remember my advice to you when you were going through your own âstupid teenager phaseâ as Selena so beautifully put it?â Anna asked.
âTo listen to the women in my life? Like my sister and my mother?â Ravus recalled with a wince.
âGuess what? Iâm gonna repeat that advice. Only Iâm going to ask that you consider and carefully evaluate all of Selenaâs advice because Selena is hitting all the nails on the head here besides not recognizing your own trauma. So here is what I personally advise. Apologies are in order, but before you accept Billy and Chadâs apologies and the apologies from their families, with grace. I want you to apologize to all of Selenaâs doctors and nurses for doubting their capabilities and thus their intentions with grace as well, because the number one rule is âdo no harmâ and not everyone is out to hurt you or your family. Like Selena said, this instance wasnât personal to her. And the guilty parties are paying for their mistakes with their own injuries. And you need to make peace that that will be enough, Selena is clearly at the âacceptanceâ stage of grief which is amazing and I applaud you for it. Also, when Selena does make a full recovery. I suggest that maybe you two should get into defensive driving courses, maybe make it something fun like learning how to drive like a stunt driver kind of thing. But donât let this traumatic experience torture you mentally and emotionally. Because the physical impact is more than enough. Also, Ravus Iâm prescribing a sleep aid. Because you need at least 8 hours of good, restful, restorative sleep because Selena does deserve your best. However no one can pour out of an empty cup, you need to take care of yourself, eat, sleep, and donât burn yourself out. Otherwise you will be admitted to the hospital yourself in the room right next door for exhaustion because I can see how exhausted you are from where I'm sitting and you are at your limit. So before it get's to that point, take the sleep aid, relax, you can stop being hypervigilant, it's ok to trust that even while you're getting some much needed rest, Selena's very high level of care will continue on and I want you to practice leaving Selenaâs side for just a few moments, like go down to the cafe, get a cup of coffee or something and trust that Selena is going to be just fine when you come back. Sheâs not on ICU status anymore, sheâs not touch and go, her life no longer hangs in the balance so we donât need to be hypervigilant and not miss a single second of everything. Itâs going to be ok.â Dr. Gentiana Glacian advised.
"So let's start right now, Ravus, do you trust Selena with me?" Dr. Gentiana asked.
"Well of course, because I know you're never gonna hurt her." Ravus answered.
"Then entrust her with me, go down to the cafe down the hall and get yourself something, get Selena something and when you come back, you'll see if you were right to trust me with her." Anna suggested.
"You can do it. I'll be ok. Get me a macaron, I heard they have those down there." Selena urged him.
"...ok, fine." Ravus said before he slipped his feet into his loafers and left the room and walked down the hall, forcing himself not to speedwalk or run.
âThank you.â Selena thanked her gratefully.
"You're welcome. Anything else you want to say while you don't have him breathing down your neck?" Anna asked as she stood and put her notes and orders into the computer by the bed.
"If I thought he was attentive before, that's all dialed up to 11 in here. I just breathe differently and he's right there. I want him to relax because his hypervigilance is exhausting me, I don't know how he isn't exhausted too." Selena confessed.
"He is exhausted, he just thinks that your needs come above his own, he always has since day one. So he is suppressing his own for your sake. I would give it another day or two before he would need some medical attention for exhaustion, that's why I'm giving him a muscle relaxer, a mild anxiety medication plus a small mood stabilizer and a sleep aid and putting it into the system for the staff to keep an eye on him for exhaustion and because it's coming from me, he shouldn't put up much of a fuss or a fight in taking them." Anna added with a grin and was done by the time Ravus came back with a little box of macarons in hand and offered one to Selena.
"And?" Anna prodded.
"And she's ok." Ravus admitted.
"She is, and she should only get better from here, both of you should relax, eat some good comfort food, get some good sleep tonight, I'll check in- in a few days to follow up ok?"
"Thanks Anna." Ravus offered.
"Yes, thank you Anna." Selena parroted.
"You're wecome." Anna waived before she saw herself out of the room.

With no time to waste, we have a tremendous news update on Dragon Age 4âs current iteration known as âMorrisonâ, as many development secrets were revealed in BioWareâs brand-new hardcover book of âStories and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development.â
A lot of the questions that weâve all been asking over the past few years, finally have an answer, all thanks to this book. I will be delving into all of the Dragon Age 4-related content in this book; however, I wholeheartedly advise you pick up the book for yourself because it is filled to the brim with insights, information and behind-the-scenes reveals on every BioWare game to this date. Â
Itâs full of so many captivating, inspiring and amazing stories that showcase BioWareâs incredible journey over the past 25 years. Â
In any regard, weâve got a lot to get into, so leaving no stone unturned, weâve got some updates regarding Dragon Age: Morrison, the current-rebooted project code name of the next Dragon Age game.
Morrison:
Along with this amazing retro-styled font of Morrisonâs code name - that Iâm totally going to use in future videos and thumbnails - we actually have a small plot synopsis on this working title. Â
It reads as followed: âTevinter Bound â a sneak peek at the follow-up to Inquisition.â Â
âAs BioWare entered its twenty-fifth year, the Dragon Age team was hard at work on Morrison, the code name of the long-awaited follow-up to Dragon Age: Inquisition. The game, helmed by executive producer Mark Darrah, will take players to Tevinter as events of Inquisition and Trespasser threaten to forever change Thedas.â
Weâre going to Tevinter! Of course, we already knew that based on Trespasserâs ending, Tevinter Nights, and the developers already hinting that, but it is still very nice to see hear that in a plot outline. Â
In addition, the most interesting factor about this synopsis, is that for the first time BioWare have confirmed that âMorrisonâ is indeed the code name for the current Dragon Age project, which outrightly confirms that Jason Scheirerâs Kotaku article on âThe Past & Present of Dragon Age 4â carries merit and truth to it, meaning that we can indeed trust the entire contents of Jasonâs article. Â
Regardless, sticking with the 80âs retro theme, BioWare staff have themed shirts for the project, and they look absolutely amazing. Please, BioWare Gear Store release these one day, if at all possible, these designs are so good! Â
The book then goes on to show very familiar concept art that was showcased within the Gamescom behind-the-scenes trailer, however, this time, we have actual descriptions on each of the art pieces, and what theyâre portraying. So, we donât need to spend another 40 minutes speculating about what the pieces could show. Â
The underwater shot which we assumed to be Isabela accompanied by what looks like Dorian with a sword, an undead and a female dwarf, appears to showcase the Lords of Fortune, a newly-introduced faction within Tevinter Nights.Â
The synopsis says:Â Â
âWhere thereâs treasure, thereâs adventurers braving death to get it. The Lords of Fortune are always on the hunt for treasure-wherever it may be.â
The next shot, which I speculated it as Tevinterâs capital city Minrathous, has a synopsis that says: Â
âThe glittering hubs of Thedas are beacons of civilization and bulwarks against the night.â
Following that, we have the mysterious Antivan Crow lady concept art with the synopsis: Â
âThe Antivan Crows have perfected theatrical assassinations. The Antivan Crows are celebrated for their mastery of stylish slaying.â
And then we have a most recognisable mural, one that many of us have spent way too long staring at, tinfoiling over its endless possibilities. The synopsis of The Dread Wolf Rises concept piece says: Â
âOne of Nick Thornborrowâs beautiful paintings showing an old friend with a shadowy threat!â
Following that, we have Nevarraâs undead operating on a dragon, with the synopsis saying: Â
âFrom their Necropolis, the Mourn Watch guard Thedas from occult threatsâ
And then we have â hold on, whatâs this, a new piece of concept art? Roll on the tinfoil, Iâll read the synopsis first and then we can go from there, as it states: Â
âThe Deep Roads teem with evils both new and old, known and unknowable.â
I wonât spend ages delving into a single piece of concept art, but we can see the Deep Roads with plenty of light coming from the surface. Itâs a beautiful shot, that Iâm sure is building a mood for potential locations in the next game. Â
The final concept art piece shown is one from the trailer, however, itâs not cut-off anymore. When it once looked like an evil Cetus, it now reveals something even more wicked than a sea dragon... A figure with multiple arms, red eyes, a curved headpiece, holding a spear. Is this an ancient God? Could it be Ghilanânain? A Lovecraftian sea-hybrid-monster? Or is it just a crazy idea thrown together by a concept artist, because why not? Â
The synopsis is the most intriguing and provides a further context for the next Dragon Age game:
âThe Evil Gods have Thedas in their sights and only heroes can stop them. The shadows of the past stir, and new heroes must rise to fight them.â
There are many âgodsâ in Dragon Age, the Old Gods, the Elven Gods, the Maker, the Titans, etc. You could certainly consider each of them to be evil too, but on a whim, with the whole âshadows of the past stir.â Iâm sure this synopsis is referring to the Elven Gods, given Solasâs scheme that will return the Evanuris to Thedas once more. Â
Taking my tinfoil hat off for a moment, this book expertly describes concept art stages relating to BioWare, and I need to touch on what exactly these pieces could mean going forward, because they most certainly could just be conceptual drawings without much context for the next game. Â
The book quotes Dragon Age 2âs development regarding concept art, saying:
âIn the early stages of any project, before the concept artists are aware of any writing, they like to just draw what they think cool story moments could be. Itâs not unusual for the team to then be inspired by those drawings and fold them into the game as the project progresses.â
And, even further than that, Matt Rhodes, who is the Art Director of the next Dragon Age spoke a few words regarding Dragon Age: Inquisitionâs conceptual art stages: Â
âAs multiple teams worked on their corners of Inquisition, lead concept artist Matt Rhodes spent weeks creating images to help solidify and drive a vision of what the game could be.â
âIt was partly to encourage and remind myself of what the potential of this project could be,â Matt says. âWe all imagine the finished game. I wanted to get that on paper, to remind everyone we are making something that could be pretty cool.â
So, while weâre all so excited to see these amazing concept designs and imagery, and we love to correlate it all to the next game, remember that these designs are very early work building a vision for the next game, theyâre just being used to represent what idealistically the developers would like the game to end up like, or what insane ideas the concept artists have for the game. Â
Many of these ideas wonât turn out in the final product, but itâs still so nice to see this work already. Â
Wolf Rook Book: Â
Moving on, we can put an end to a five-year mystery, we finally have answers on that enigmatic red âWolf-Rook" book that Mark Darrah has teased for half a decade. Â
One of my first ever videos on this channel was delving into the early pages of this book, back then I had a hunch that this book was the next Dragon Age gameâs early concepts and designs, like a shiny development doc for the team. Â
And I was on the right tracks, as followed: Â
âThe book was an internal guide for developer and publisher eyes only that summarized the vision for Dragon Age: Inquisitionâs follow-up, a project code-named Joplin. The Joplin project has since been revised to such an extent that its code name changed to Morrison, but the red book still contains plenty of ideas likely to appear in the next Dragon Age. While most pages remain highly classified, here are a few Mark said we can publish.â
Thereâs a small description of The Qunari with some other concept shots, the paragraph reads as followed:
âThe Qunari are followers of a religious text of principles known as the Qun. Though Qunari may be of any race, most are part of a race of large humanoids with horns.â Â
âFor ages the Qunari have proven a formidable opponent to the rest of Thedas, almost conquering the continent until a united force of every Chantry nation pushed them back into a tense stalemate. Recent events have reignited the Qunari offensive, however, and their forces are in open conflict with the Tevinter Imperium, while their spies and agents are active in every nation.â Â
And at the bottom we have a Creatures double-spread page with different concepts very similar to those seen in Inquisition, the paragraph reads as followed:
âAnimals, monsters and misplaced magical experiments: creatures stir apart from the conflicts and machinations flowing across the continent. Creatures range from the lowly nug up to the ultimate apex predator, the dragon. The next Dragon Age will feature our widest and most varied set of creatures to date. While often quite simple in implementation, creatures provide variety through differentiated animation and appearance.â
So, âWolf-Rookâ is still relevant, somewhat confirming that the work that went into Joplin, may cross over into Morrison, which is very exciting because Joplinâs vision for a Dragon Age title sounded amazing, so to hear aspects of that work pouring into this new project is absolutely fabulous. I had a hunch that the red book was still valuable to the current project, because weâve seen a lot of âWolf-Rookâ teased this year, Mark Darrah has not stopped showing off his stash of red books. So, Iâm very glad itâs here to stay for the current iteration. Â
Dragon Age Week:
Next up, we have an update to a story I talked about in March of this year, Mark Darrah teased a picture of his laptop with the BioWare Slack server shown at the bottom of his screen.
One of the channel-titles within the server was one by the name of âDA Weekâ, and thanks to this book, we know what âDragon Age Weekâ actually is:Â Â
âDragon Age Week is a five-day period during which members of the Dragon Age team can pursue creative projects that in some way benefit Dragon Age. The work done during DA Week, and its erstwhile cousin DA Fridays, sometimes found its way into releases.â Â
âThe giants in Inquisition came out of a Dragon Age Week,â executive producer Mark Darrah says. âWe also had a board game made that we were going to put into Inquisition, but we just didnât have time to. Itâs referenced. Itâs a dwarven chess.â
So, I do wonder what kind of ideas have come out of Dragon Age Week recently that has then ended up in the next Dragon Age. Hopefully, one day weâll have a new book that tells us Dragon Age 4âs secrets and we can visit this topic. Â
New BioWare Vision: Â
Moving on to the final major update, thanks to this book, we have a greater understanding about the vision BioWare have going forward. According to General Manager, Casey Hudson and Dragon Age, Narrative Director, John Epler. Â
Casey Hudson spoke on the âoldâ BioWare and how their changing paths to a ânewerâ BioWare: Â
âWe canât go back to where weâve been,â Casey Hudson says, now the studioâs general manager. âThe way that we worked, all of those stories and the crunch and eating pizza for six weeks straight and all that kind of stuff, as fun and memorable as it was at the time, those things wonât work for where weâre going.âÂ
As BioWare grows, Casey says it must learn better ways to work while still embodying the values laid out by Drs. Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk. Â
âIt starts with the ones that were there at the very beginning with Greg and Ray of humility and integrity,â he says, âThose are super important.â
Other pillars include a passion for excellence and courageous creativity. Â
âWe used to exemplify this not because we were courageous, but because we didnât know better. We would try things and fail and try something else until we got it right, and it was very experimental. But what can happen is, once you do know the consequences of failure, you can very easily start retreating. And at that point, it actually does take courage to put yourself out there and try something new.â Â
Casey says. âWeâre not super young and inexperienced anymore. We do know better, but we still have to try and do some crazy stuff anyway.â
John Epler shared on the change going on within BioWare: Â
âI am excited for what the future holds. I think BioWare is changing. I think weâre at a crossroads where we can either accept that and move into the new BioWare, or we can try to cling to the past. We have to be respectful of our origins without being constrained by them. Itâs an exciting time and Iâm really looking forward to what the next five years brings.â
ââIâm one of those people who is probably going to be here until they have to literally wheel my desiccated corpse out of the building, because I love working here and I love the people I work with and I love getting to come into work every day to have long, detailed conversations about how eluvians work.â
All in all, Iâm incredibly excited and optimistic for BioWareâs future, theyâre aware of their flaws, while knowing what makes them great. They seek to humble themselves, while changing direction, they want to avoid crunch while being experimental. I think weâre going to see the company bloom when they inevitably release the next Dragon Age, and I am totally here for that. Â
Dragon Age Day
Before I leave you, Dragon Age Day is quickly approaching, and it seems BioWare have plans this year. EA Community Manager, Jay Ingram tweeted about fans asking questions for the Dragon Age team, in prep for plans on Dragon Age Day. Iâll link the tweet down below, so you can ask as many questions as youâd like! It seems that BioWare may stream on Dragon Age Day, so do watch out for that, and give them a follow on their Twitch, also linked down below:

Regardless, this is where we part ways. There was so much that this book uncovered, I highly recommended picking It up for yourself, itâs truly worth it to any BioWare fan. There was also some future Mass Effect stuff, but Iâm saving that for a future video that Iâll do at the start of the new year. And I most likely will do future videos on other topics revealed in this book. Â
