Hey Chekhov! How do you start converting an AU idea from character sheets and mini comics into a plot outline for a full, continuous comic? Especially if the series you're basing it on isn't complete?
I've been following your white diamond Steven comics for years, and frankly, I love how it builds and continues the scaffolding canon laid to be something that is thematically still the same but also very unique. And I never thought I'll ever say this, but now I'm working on a canon-divergent AU with someone that's I think aiming to do something similar(continue the themes of canon but different). So I'll just like some advice, I suppose!
You might've answered something like this before, honestly, but I tried to dig a little and couldn't really find it.
Thanks, if you do answer this! I just want take the opportunity as well to say also that your comic and blog accompanied me through parts of my late teens, and I'm very grateful for you being a stabilizing influence during that time.
Thank you! I really appreciate you saying that, and I appreciate you respecting me enough to ask for advice.
As for your question...
Well, to be frank, I don't START with character sheets and mini-comics. In fact, for WD!AU, I didn't have any character sheets until I started season 2.
Think of your story as an aquarium. Your characters are fish.
Yes, they're important, but having a whole bunch of fish without any substrate, tanks, feed and WATER..... will not really make for a memorable aquarium experience.
The reality is that all stories should start with an end.
That's my personal approach, anyway.
What I mean is - you need to know the general idea for your story before you begin to write or plan it.
Let's try this:
1.Tell me about your story in THREE sentences!
Just three. Not long ones, just regular ones.
For my AU, @ask-whitepearl-and-steven, it would be:
"A young orphan runs away from home with a mysterious lady who seems more cryptid than human. He realizes that he's not human either - he used to be the ruler of an alien planet! He and the other aliens he meets decide to (REDACTED) (REDACTED) (REDACTED) and he (REDACTED) (REDACTED) (READACTED) (READ ANDCTED) (READ AND FIND OUT)."
YOU should know how YOUR story ends too! Even vaguely.
It helps if you know at what point you plan to lay down the pencil. Because if you DO know, you are always going to know which direction to walk in, even if the end is so far away it's beyond your line of sight.
It's true that when I began WDAU, I didn't have much information about White Diamond and white Pearl, because they had literally ONLY been introduced. I had to guess a lot of the details (like WP being Pink's originally) and what White would be capable of. And thankfully, my original intent for the story's end fit pretty well with what was later revealed!
But don't forget - you could also just fuck around with stuff! It's your story, after all.
And don't forget... to also look back!
2.Tell me WHY the story is happening in the first place.
There's a reason that the beginning of your story happens when it does. If there is no reason to start somewhere, then find a different place to start.
You should be able to tell me "We're picking up the story here because something significant has happened... and that significant thing happened BECAUSE...."
That 'because' is your main background information that should be revealed slowly throughout the story. In WDAU's case, we only have a few pieces of the puzzle. We know Greg's side. He know Earl's side. But there are still little bits and pieces missing! And they're all important for finding out WHY Steven ended up an orphan and WHY he is being followed by White Pearl (Earl) at the very start of the comic!
3.Tell me what the coolest and most interesting things to happen would be....and then write them!
I think this may be something that's rarely said out loud, but I will speak on the behalf of the people...
We should write the scenes we want to read. If you don't want to read the scene you're writing, then DON'T write it!
If you feel like you "have to" do a page and a half of 'lore' because you think it's traditional to have that 'explanation' about the location of your story, or the history of the species or whatever, you're simply wrong. There are other ways to reveal information aside from just forced paragraphs upon paragraphs of information that would make an SAT Reading Section sweat.
Instead, I recommend that you find the most exciting or hilarious way for the characters to discover the most important bits of info. Find a dramatic twist. Shove it into the narrative. Then, figure out what needs to happen to get there.
Ultimately, though, remember this: When you're taking advice from me or from others, don't forget to take advice from yourself, too! It's your story, after all. You know it best, and only YOU can figure out how to get it written.
I hope that helps at least a little bit! Writing it never easy, but it should still be enjoyable!

5 Universes Parallel and 7 Perpendicular
Trouble often found Constantine like maggots to a corpse
A DPxDC Crossover // Read on [AO3] [FF.net] // Fic Masterlist
Trouble often found Constantine like maggots to a corpse.
This time, Trouble’s name went by Danny Fenton. Some random kid— “hey I’m fourteen!” — with an impossible physiology and a soul that not even the most desperate demon or benevolent angel would take. Not because Danny is in any way particularly good or evil, but because Constantine is 99.998% sure the Lords of Hell and the Heavenly Hosts even knew what Danny’s soul even was in the first place.
(If you could even…call it a soul, anyway. He isn’t sure how he can explain it, and Danny has zero clue at what Constantine’s asking for anyway. “It’s science,” Danny would say with a shrug. “Weird science, anyway. Something about ectoplasm and imprinted consciences and mutations in the DNA. I’m not sure on the specifics, but my parents can tell you.”)
Of course, being lost in another fucking universe probably didn’t help.
He clips another cigar and lights it. Cuban, full-bodied, good blend; he got it as a bonus from some clients a few weeks back and he’d been slowly making his way through the pack. He lets the smoke settle on his tongue before he puffs it out, slinging his legs up to rest on top of the coffee table with a groan.
Danny scrunched his nose at him, uncrossing his arms to go over and open a window.
“What?” Constantine rolled his eyes, gesturing to the boy with a cigar. “You don’t get to complain. You don’t even need to breathe.”
“Yeah and smoking still makes everything smell like crap. It’s a terrible habit, y’know.”
He huffs, smoke billowing out, and makes a note to himself to smoke like he’s a goddamn dragon just to annoy the kid. “Hey, I think putting up with a bit of my bad habit is enough compensation for having to help your penniless ass, brat.”
Danny scoffed. “It’s not like I had any choice in that.”
Which was the crux of the matter, of course. See, Constantine has had his fair share of inter-dimensional or inter-planar travel. But shit like parallel universes …well, that was more the Justice League’s purview anyway. All those alternate universes where everything is a distorted mirror of their own reality—and apparently home to way too many evil Supermen to be comfortable with— not exactly Constantine’s cup of tea. He’s had his fair share of experiences with them, but definitely not enough to actually help someone whose universe is nowhere even remotely similar to his own.
Oh, according to Danny his Earth did have a London and an America and a Korea, etc. The majority of their countries were the same, give or take a few that only seemed to exist in Constantine’s universe. But it was the people where they differed. Remarkably, there was no Justice League in Danny’s world. Or any kind of superheroes at all. ( Like in comic books? Danny had said when Constantine asked.)
As far as Danny knew, he was the closest thing that came to a superhero in his world and half of the time people just consider him a menace. Even big shot ‘civilians’ like Bruce Wayne, Lex Luthor, or Oliver Queen were non-entities in that parallel world. Instead they got some creepy asshole called Vlad Masters who should probably get another hobby that isn’t ‘terrorizing a fourteen-year-old.’
But where this strange alternate world lacked in martians and cosmic world-ending threats, they made up for with a shit ton of ghosts. Which brought them to their current predicament: through a ridiculous set of circumstances that Danny really didn’t want to explain, the kid managed to tumble through a rift in the Infinite Realms (something that Constantine hasn’t heard of but you’ll be damn sure he’s gonna make it his business to know) and landed probably five parallel universes and seven perpendicular universes away from his own earth and right in front of Constantine’s doorstep. (No, those were probably not the correct scientific terms but Constantine was a fucking occultist not a physicist so sue him.)
(Actually, don’t. He’d rather not deal with it.)
Constantine did try his best to do right by the kid. He’d taken Danny’s case up to the Justice League to see if they had the tech that could send the kid home. No such luck at the moment. And even if they did, they weren’t sure if they had the capabilities to connect to not only Danny’s specific branch in whatever cosmic tree was keeping everything afloat, but the correct version of Danny’s universe as well. Constantine’s other contacts said much the same thing.
And since Danny Fenton didn’t exist in this universe, he felt bad leaving the kid alone, so he offered him room and board at his place until they could find a way to get Danny home. (Or until the kid got sick and tired of Constantine’s antics and just moved out.)
(Or until Danny died. Constantine had a pretty bad track record of getting his friends killed by association, y’know. Though considering Danny’s half-ghost… could he even die again?)
(Better not push his luck.)
Constantine set his cigar aside. Danny’s still by the window, elbows propped up on the sill, eyes trained a thousand miles away. No— ‘light-years’ is probably the correct measurement here.
Constantine rests his chin against his knuckles. “Penny for your thoughts?”
Danny shrugged, chin nestled against his open palm, fingers curled near the seam of his mouth. Nervous nail-biter, maybe? “Just…worried.” His voice is level, but you could feel the anxiety nestled deep within from the sharp staccato of his fingers against the windowsill. Tap-tap-tap-tap-tap. “I’ve never been gone this long from Amity Park before. It tends to…attract a lot of annoying ghosts, and it’s up to me to make sure their trouble doesn’t get too out of hand.”
“Ah. Define trouble.”
Danny laughs. “It depends on which ghost it is, I guess. Some of the regulars honestly just want to annoy me. There’s the Box Ghost—yeah that’s literally what he calls himself, he controls boxes, no I am not making this up—who should really learn to just stay in the Zone already. I think my record for beating him is like 15 minutes, and 10 of those minutes was just trying to find him. Skulker’s a bounty hunter that’s just dead set—pun intended—on skinning me for my pelt. I don’t know what he’s gonna do with that pelt, and at the rate things are going I don’t think I’ll ever find out. I’ve probably destroyed more of his robot suits than anyone else.”
Some of his rogues want to skin him? Huh. Maybe Constantine should be more concerned about how nonchalant Danny is when describing all of this. “If you got regulars, then that means you also got ghosts that only come in sometimes, right?”
“Yeah…” Danny raked a hand through his hair. “It’s part of the reason why I’m so worried. Those kinds of ghosts have been coming up at an alarming rate recently. Like, the last ghost I dealt with was this guy named Undergrowth. He’s big, green, looks like a giant weed, and is pretty much able to control all plant life. He took control of the entire town and essentially enslaved everyone using mind vines. I literally had to develop a new powerset just to fight him.”
“Huh. Must be tough, having to fight all this on your own.”
“It is, yeah…but I’m not alone. My friends help me.”
Constantine lowers his feet to the floor. He scoots up to the edge of his ratty old sofa and pats down the spot next to him. “Friends? That’s good, at least. Tell me about them.”
“Well…” Danny let out a sharp exhale, eyes wavering between the window and the empty spot on the couch as if deciding where he’d be more comfortable being at. Eventually, he pushes himself away from the window and tentatively sits down on the couch, fingers drumming against the burgundy cushions. “There’s Sam and Tucker. I’ve known Tucker since forever ago, but the two of us became friends with Sam back in middle school. They were there with me when I, well, became this. And ever since then, they’ve been helping me fight all the ghosts that’ve been coming through the portal.”
There’s a smile on Danny’s lips as he talks about them. Soft but bright. A flash of teeth every time he has to hold back a laugh whenever he suddenly remembers a funny story. He talks about Tucker’s genius with technology, Sam’s interest in the occult, and how the two of them have a running argument regarding their food preferences. He goes into anecdotes about their adventures, and how so many of Danny’s own victories couldn’t have been done without their help.
“Sounds like you trust them,” Constantine said.
“With my life.” There’s an air of gravity in the way Danny said those words. As if they were an unwavering truth of the universe.
He placed a comforting hand on Danny’s shoulder. “Then trust that they’ll be able to hold down the fort until you get back.”
Danny’s eyes widened a fraction, before he hung his head low, smiling sheepishly. “Yeah, yeah, I guess you’re right.”
Suddenly finding himself feeling very awkward at this almost-tender moment, Constantine slapped his knees once and pushed himself off the couch. “Well, best stop your worrying for now, kid. Come on, grab your jacket. Let's go get some Nando’s.”
Danny’s brows scrunched up in confusion. “The heck is Nando’s?”
“Oh you poor, poor, American. Come on, let me introduce you to the wonders that is peri peri chicken.”
Trouble often found Constantine like maggots to a corpse. But maybe this time, he didn’t mind Trouble so much.

Comic Con: The Return of Mindstorm
The Boys Cast x Teen!Actress!Fem!Reader
✧.* author's note: this is my first ever fic! i've been a fan of the boys for some time now and have always wanted to write something but have never found the time💀 BUT ANYWAY- let me know if i should write anything else :)) - ava ❤ *.✧
// SLIGHT-ISH SPOILERS FOR SEASON FOUR OF 'THE BOYS' & DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED //
-
warnings: none, all fluff
description: use of y/n, HORRIBLE jokes 💀, y/n is about seventeen / eighteen years of age in this fic, ALSO sorry for any spelling / grammar mistakes 😭
summary: y/n surprises the cast of 'the boys' by joining them in their panel at comic con to help announce the return of her character 'mindstorm'!!
-
you ever had one of those “let me take this all in” moments? because that is what y/n is having right now.
y/n was backstage of the panel for the cast of the show ‘the boys’. she was beyond excited as she was listening to her fellow castmates talk about their experiences while also answering fan questions. most of the cast was attending, supporting each other, besides karl urban (who was one of her favorite castmates, but she would never tell anyone that).
y/n believed that she wouldn’t be able to make it to help promote their accomplishments at this panel because she was attending another panel at comic con, to show her support for her other project, ‘deadpool and wolverine’ (we play laura [x-23]). We ended up showing the audience the movie at this panel so she left shortly after the screening started, hoping to be able to make it to her other panel to help show her love and support to this amazing cast.
y/n sent a quick message to jeffrey d. morgan (who she met when filming as a small role on ‘the walking dead’), making him aware that she was on the way to the panel,
‘hey, finishing up with d&w! be there as quick as i can!!’, y/n types quickly, and she almost immediately gets a response,
‘perfect timing sweetheart, we are getting ready to start! i told eric you were coming to stop by and he almost screamed out of excitement 😂 😂 can’t wait to see you!!’.
y/n laughs quietly at the response from jeffrey and practically runs as fast as she can to hall h.
her character within this show, mindstorm, is similar to kimiko’s character, in season one of the show she was experimented on at the very young age of fourteen by the hands of vought. however, she has been given telekinetic abilities that she uses to her advantage…most of the time (more like ‘all the time’). the boys’ discovered her along with kimiko and she has been with them ever since, joining them in their journey of taking down homelander, taking down vought.
y/n had become very close friends with karen fukuhara, who played kimiko on the show. they spent a bunch of time on set together in season one, and y/n deeply missed being able to hang out with her best friend, so to say she was happy to be back would be an understatement.
but at the end of the season, the audience believed her character was dead, the last time the audience saw this character is when she was in a fight against the seven, which she sadly did not win. there’s an explosion, blah blah blah…and obviously she couldn’t have survived that…right? WRONG. the audience is very surprised to see that, at the end of season four, she is being held by vought in a cryosleep chamber along with someone her character hasn’t met yet, soldier boy. people had many positive reactions to see that her character was still alive, and y/n couldn’t be happier.
by the time y/n arrives at the panel, she is struggling for air as she feels like she had ran a marathon by trying to get here but y/n couldn’t help but smile at the monitors backstage, watching the lovely cast joke with their fans, who came to show their undying devotion towards the show.
y/n is brought out of her head when she hears her name, “we see that at the end of season four y/n’s character ‘mindstorm’ is very much alive, what do you have to say about her return? because our girl better be in season five!”
before the fan could even finish their question, the audience erupts in cheers at the mention of y/n and her character. y/n laughs, waiting for the response from eric kripke, her director who was also in attendance. eric laughs along with the rest of the cast as he waits for the audience to die down from their cheering, “well we originally wanted y/n to rejoin us for season three, however, as most people know, she was filming with marvel, which first of all, how ironic is that?!”
y/n laughs as the cast and audience break out into bits of laughter at the irony of how she is in both of these projects. “so obviously we couldn’t have her in season three like we hoped, but we did reach out to her about being in our final scene of this season,” eric continues, “and luckily, the timing worked out perfectly and we were able to have our beloved ‘mindstorm’ return”. eric smirks and he looks at jeffery, as the audience once again cheers loudly.
as time passes by, more questions get asked by fans and more jokes get made by the cast, y/n is practically crying of laughter by the time she is getting ready to get announced onto the stage by jeffery and eric. they just showed some test footage for the new season of ‘gen-v’ when eric speaks up,
“actually we have here another little surprise for you guys, there is someone that we did just cast…like she’s a brand new actress and i’m just really excited for you guys to meet her, so if it’s cool with you guys like i just wanna bring her out and introduce her to everyone,” y/n rolls her eyes and smiles at the statement that eric just said. “yeah, why not,” jeffery replies, smiling. “okay, come on out,” eric says, also smiling.
as soon as y/n walks out from the side of the stage, the audience immediately bursts into screams and cheers as the cast looks at y/n in surprise because none of them expected her to attend because of her other panel with ‘deadpool and wolverine’.
karen is the first to jump out of her chair as she runs straight to y/n and pulls her into a tight hug, “oh my gosh!! i’ve missed you so freaking much, thank gosh you’re here!,” karen laughs. y/n laughs along with her as she puts an arm around her to walk and greet her other castmates.
she pats her other former castmates shoulders as she walks by their sitting figures, but stops to wrap her arms around the neck of jensen ackles from behind, as she and him had grown closer ever since shooting their scene for their end of season four.
the next person she formally hugs is antony starr, who she had grown very fond of when having to shoot very graphic scenes for the show (NOTHING SEXUAL YOU WEIRDOS). she wraps her arms around his neck as he lifts her up and spins her around. she giggles as she says, “nice to see you too antony”. he laughs loudly as he plants her back on her feet, “sorry, i just missed having my personal arm rest around”. he laughs again when y/n rolls her eyes at his jab of their height difference.
she then hugs jeffery and eric before sitting down on the chair next to antony that the crew brought out for her. “hello again, hall h!” y/n waves excitedly, as she sees the audience cheer and wave back to her in delight.
“how did your other panel go earlier, y/n?” eric says jokingly, as you can hear his tone change when he says the word ‘other’. y/n laughs along with the rest of the cast and eventually responds with, “oh you know, just great, especially when your lovely castmates are thirty years older than you and are complete nut jobs, what could possibly go wrong?” she says jokingly as she looks around to her other cast mates, who could also fit into that category. they all laugh, seeming to get her joke about their age.
eventually another fan comes to the front to ask a question, “hello, my question is for y/n, so who is your favorite character and your least favorite character from the show-” immediately the crowd is talking amongst themselves, y/n hears a bunch of gossiping from not only the audience but from the cast, “but for your favorite character, you can’t say ‘mindstorm’!” the fan clarifies.
“wow, you were so ready for that,” she laughs and jensen cuts in, “ughh i gotta swallow my ego,” he says jokingly, mimicking her. while y/n leans forward, laughing. “uhh- so i can’t say my own character, but that doesn’t mean that ‘mindstorm’ can’t be your guy’s favorite character, just sayin’” she says in a sweet, innocent voice. the cast bursts into laughter at the girls statement as the crowd cheers before she continues to answer the question from the fan.
“i think i have say…kimiko”. the crowd erupts into cheers at the mention of the character. “oh wow, i saw someone STAND UP for that,” she laughs, “you were just like ‘yeah!!!’”, she continues to laugh as she stands up to imitate the fan who gave karen’s character a standing ovation.
“um…huh…now my least favorite character…hmm..uh wow you're messed up-” y/n and the cast laugh as she struggles to think of her least favorite character from the show. “ummm….huh?…oh no- NO- I GET TO CHOOSE! people are yellin’ names at me. I’M gonna pick.” she says jokingly, and she hears fans start yelling out answers for her to say.
“you have to pick one,” antony says.
“gotta pick one?,” y/n questions back
“i mean, whose that ‘homelander’ dude?” she questions to the audience, in a jokingly manner as she nudges antony with my elbow. the whole cast and crowd burst into laughter at my jab at antony. y/n is laughing so hard she puts her forehead on antony’s shoulder as her own shoulders shake with laughter.
“my favorite character has always been mindstorm, but alright”. antony says with (fake) sadness written on his face. y/n puts her face into her hands as she leans back in her chair, as she feels slightly bad about her joke. “never meet your hero’s guys!” he says, stating this directly to the audience. y/n, once again, has an outburst of laughter.
as this amazing cast continues to make memories with not only each other, but with the audience; y/n realizes how lucky she is and how grateful she is for these people who surround her. y/n was truly happy to be back, and couldn't feel more proud to be apart of this family

Hey i have a question
I see that you are Finnish probably? One of my mutuals has a question about a Finnish phrase that translated literally as "i will read you into a lake" or something similar, but I could not find mentions of this phrase online (they are looking for a particular post). Can you please tell me what it would be in Finnish? Google translate isnt of much help...
Could it perhaps have been "I will sing you into a swamp"? Laulan sinut suohon. Because that is a reference to old finnish folklore. Many old finnish spells, curses and blessings were written down as poetry, but were recited by singing instead of just speaking, in a handful of very specific song forms. Epic poetry and stories were usually also sung, making the tales easier to remember and recite.
While the collection process and end result of the epic poem Kalevala is Problematic™ in ways that I won't bother to go into (I will just get my ass chewed if I don't go out of my way to aknowledge that), the tale features a scene early on in the beginning, where the great wizard demigod Väinämöinen meets a youth named Joukahainen on a narrow road, and neither of them is willing to move out of the way so the other could go first.
It turns out that Joukahainen had been looking for Väinämöinen for some time in order to challenge him in a battle of powers, but he was already down to fight this old man before figuring out that this is actually the demigod he was looking for to begin with. They begin a battle through song-magic, in which Väinämöinen sings Joukahainen's horse into stone, and Joukahainen himself into a swamp.
While the story itself gets pretty grim pretty soon after that, I want to point out how comical this whole scene is, though it's never depicted that way. Imagine walking in on an epic wizard rap battle between an ancient demigod wizard who is literally older than the universe as we know it, and a 15-year-old boy. Ancient powers are commanded through song to reshape the foundations of the Earth over a traffic issue that could have been resolved in 5 seconds, but neither of them is willing to be the bigger person about this.
This conflict escalates to the point where people die over it.

hey so. I need the vision for nickcase. Just. A vision please. A blueprint. Concept art. Whatever you call it. I heard this out and now I need to see it
Thank you anon for giving me an excuse to ramble about my guys
Pronoun check! Nickel - he/him, Suitcase - she/they
Note! This is only going over remarried Nickcase (the post show, made up, most of my art of them, healthy stuff), S3 "Nickcase" and them dating in S2 are a whole other beast (I think I've written some posts on those I can find them if asked)
The basic idea for their relationship post show to me is getting to know each other, getting to have an actual bond. Because they never really knew who the other was, "we don't really talk." And they both at different points deeply wanted that, and now they're in a place where it's actually possible given time.
If I had to give a title to remarried Nickcase, it'd be "to be known"
They're very much a slow burn and Suitcase takes the lead in their relationship. (Is it still a slow burn if they're exs and one of them in love and the other is slowly falling for them again. Idk that's besides the point) They're fell first fell harder but who's who depends on how ya wanna define it.
They got together on a camping trip a year or two after S2 ended 👍
Now, some things I think they like about each other
Nickel: Suitcase just all around fits his type. She's a sweetheart, silly and warm colored. I also think he'd like her confidence
Suitcase: Nickel's actually a really good partner to Balloon from iii16 and onwards so that's definitely something. They like cringefail men and he is the cringest fail. I also think they'd be endeared by his love of nature. They generally find him a charming weird little fella.
For both of them they just enjoy each other's company, they'll talk for hours about whatever.
I imagine their flirting to be kinda similar to Nickloon's, ya know the banter and all. But less intense, softer. And none of the joking insults and stuff.
They're ND4ND which I think my friend Max does a great job of exploring that in this comic. They also like info dumping to each other <3
They're pretty private with their relationship, romance wise at least. Not super big on pda, unless you count Balloon to be the public lol
And lastly I do wanna say they don't work in a monogamous context, mostly just with Nickel being higher energy then Suitcase in a way that doesn't always match up the best. They very much need Balloon and Baseball for this to actually work.
#Half of this is explaining the ship half is just headcanons#inanimate insanity#ii nickel#ii suitcase#nickcase#ii nickcase#Object posting#nickel ii#suitcase ii#Sorry for taking so long anon I had to think about how to word all my thoughts out and also I am the world's most easily distracted guy

Sean Diaz x Reader HCs:
Reader is Filipina
Note: so sorry for not posting. First year of college and its kicking my ass a bit but at least i have As and Bs. This is a very obviously self-indulgent thing I wrote (b/c I think it is too often that the reader is assumed to be a white woman) to destress so uh… enjoy! Sorry again for falling off the face of the Earth.
fem!filipina!reader, fluff
-You and Sean’s families will get along pretty well
-Because Filipinos and Mexicans have such similar cultures (we in the colonized by Spain gang) your parent(s) warm up to Sean pretty quickly!
-You both share a mutual hatred for the Spaniard conquistadors.
-Comic misunderstanding of what the word “puto” means in Tagalog vs. Spanish
you bring some freshly steamed rice cakes (puto) that your mom made over to Sean’s house.
Sean and Esteban are sitting by the counter when you come in. You excitedly say “Hey! I brought puto, want to try?”
Both Esteban and Sean look at you with wide eyes.
Esteban starts smiling, trying to hold back his laughter.
”Would we like to try WHAT now?”
”puto!” you hold up the rice cakes, “Filipino rice cakes!”
Sean says, “Y/n, that is not what that word means.”
”That’s what it means in Tagalog. Does it mean something different in Spanish?”
Esteban is snickering at this point. “Yes. It means something very different.” He laughs harder.
Sean pinches the bridge of his nose.
After they explain to you what “puto” means in Spanish, your jaw drops.
”Oh my God I’m so so sorry I had no idea; it genuinely just means ‘steamed rice cakes’ in Tagalog I swear!”
Sean and Esteban both laugh. “Está bien, hija. It at least makes a funny story.”
-You call Sean “mahal ko” and Sean calls you “mi amor”
-He brings you Mexican food and you bring him Filipino food
-Like every non-filipino, he instantly LOVES lumpia when you first introduce it to him
-You mom made an extreme excess of lumpia, so she gave him a freezer bag full of premade lumpia rolls. You help him deep fry them one day after school (he wants to share with his dad and Daniel) and his whole house smells like frying oil afterwards.
-Both of you talk about similarities and differences between Tagalog and Spanish for funsies.
-Playful arguments on which country does leche flan better
-You introduce him to ube-flavored sweets
-One time you bring ube Otap cookies to their house and Daniel ends up gobbling them all up (to Sean’s dismay)
-Cursing at him in Tagalog thinking it would be funny but he understands the gist of what you said
“Putangina mo”
“Hey!”
“Hehehe”
-He teaches you Spanish and you teach him some Tagalog
-Agressive pinoy pride >:3
-he makes fun of you for being short (not our fault that the average height is 5’1!!!)
-Bonding over cultural similarities
-y’all are such an it couple bc poc4poc relationships that are also interracial are such a slay
I realize that the LIS2 fandom is already very niche (even within the LIS community) so these HCs are even more niche but… idc! Writing this made me happy lol.
I’ll try to fulfill some of the requests I got back in September! Sorry for not getting to them yet.
Hope you enjoyed! :3

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!! I just read your Koko x Inui!Reader work and it's a ✨masterpiece✨ Am I crying? Yes. Am I still in love with this psycho Koko? Definitely. Why? Don't know. But am I in love with your work? Absolutely!!!!!
If it's possible, may I please request Koko with fem!reader who also lost her lover (I dunno, Shinichiro, for example? Yeah, he's muuuch older than them, and the reader knew that he would never see her as a woman (more like a sister, but he’d still say smth like “yeah yeah you'll get older and I'll marry you”), but she still loved him (puppy love and stuff)). However, if Koko’s still obsessed with Akane, the reader moved on;she cherishes the memory of her first lov, but she became older and realized thing that she wasn't understand when she was younger. So with her help (it's not like she fell in love with him when they met, it's just cuz of their similar situations she decided to kinda help(?)Inui pssst Inui) , Koko see other side(?) of this type of “love”.
I still want a happy ending for him. I mean, he's such a sad (maniac, nonetheless) character, but I believe that he does deserve true and mutual love. We all had our “first loves”, puppy crushes, older crushes and stuff. I was “in love” with my brother’s friend (he was like 5 years older than me lol, and I was like 9?He also told that he will marry me and stuff, but it was like when your dad/borther promises you the same; cute and childing memory). But I think when you couldn't confess before your pass out/move on/start date someone else, you would have a feeling as if something isoff/the story does not have an ending. I don't think that even if Akane were alive, it would have changed smth for Koko. I still believe that he’d move on sooner or later. But hey, it's only my opinion 🤷🏻♀️
I just truly want him to be happy and feel genuinely loved.

What a mystery it is — this emotion we call grief.
Shinichiro’s luck with women was always a comical one, never being able to snag a date, let alone have a girlfriend. He reached rock bottom as soon as he heard one of Manjiro’s childhood friends proclaim, “I’m Shinichiro’s future wife!”
“I’m too old for you,” He politely rejected, giving your head a gentle pat as a form of acknowledging your feelings. His heart ached at the fact that a girl was finally confessing her feelings for him but most likely under the guise of a childish crush. Something you would grow out of as soon as you matured enough. “You should give the other boys your age a chance. Manjiro and Keisuke have been fighting over who’s going to marry you.”
Shinichiro was amused at the way you violently shook your head at the prospect, quickly becoming defensive and pleading your case to him. “I may be young but I swear I’ll grow up into a beautiful lady. I can cook, I can clean, and I can take care of my siblings.”
He sighed, lighting up a nearby cigarette to help cope with the insanity he was suffering though at the moment. “Y/N, I don’t want a housewife. I want you to grow up and find the right person to fall in love with. I'll be just peachy seeing you fall for the right person.”
“Mama helps me out right now but she says I’m practically a mini adult.” You protested with your hands on your hips, glaring him down as he just shook his head at you.
“Sweetheart, you’re 13…” Shinichiro shudders at the realization of how old he's gotten. Another hit of his cigarette settles in his lungs, easing his racket of a mind. “I’m 23. There are so many things wrong with what you're asking of me.”
“In five years, I will be old enough to marry you. Wait for me until then, I know you’ll still be single!”
“Uh, ouch.” Shinichiro’s pride was bruised by how confidently you had rebuked his answer. He could sense a prick of annoyance begin to crawl up his spine. Your answer wasn't meant to be malicious in the slightest but it sure struck a nerve. “Y/N, you’re not thinking straight. You’ll get over this little crush in a couple years and it’ll be a silly little joke between us.”
“A joke? You think my feelings are joke…?” You said in a quiet voice as your heart fell to your stomach. The weight of the world was coming crashing down on your childish delusions. “I love you, I really do!”
“Oh come on, Y/N. Don’t get upset, I’m just being honest with you.” Shinichiro’s words come off more harsh than he intended, made apparent by the streams of fresh hot tears rolling down your cheeks.
“But… But! You promised… Shinichiro, you promised to marry me!”
Shinichiro’s gaze switched from the motorcycle to the blubbering mess who was turned away from him. Seeing your tears made him reconsider how harsh his words would have came off. His cigarette falls to the ground, embers burning out as he glanced over at you. “What the— Don’t cry, Y/N.”
Mikey trailed in as soon as he hears the sound of loud and pronounced wailing coming from the shop. He lazily glanced between you and Shinichiro as the lollipop in his mouth swished from side to side. “Bro, what’s wrong with Y/N?”
“I-I don’t know! She just started crying!”
“Shinichiro’s being mean! M-Mikey, your brother’s being mean to me!” You wailed, tugging on his shirt as he lightly shook you off.
Mikey grinned as he placed his arms behind his head, watching the chaos unfold before him. His mischievous eyes were still focused on his older brother’s distressed face. “This is why you’re never getting a girlfriend…”
Shinichiro groaned, shooing away Mikey as he attempted to settle down your incessant outburst of melodrama. “Y/N, look at me. Stop crying, yeah? I wanna tell you a secret, just between you and me.”
“W-What?” You sniffled.
“There’s my pretty little lady,” Shinichiro smiled, thumbing away the waterworks with his oil stained hands as he left some streaks of it on your face, not like you minded much. “No more tears, okay? When you’re older we’ll get married, yeah?”
You sniffled, wiping away the lingering droplets before staring up at him. “Promise?”
Shinichiro held up his pinky extending it out for you to reciprocate the action. “Cross my heart and hope to die.”
“I think the twenty rejections have gone to his head,” Wakasa interrupted, crunching down on the lollipop lingering in his mouth. He glanced between his friend and the young girl in front of him, scrutiny in his eyes. “He’s preying on middle schoolers now. Call the cops.”
“Shut up, Waka. You have no idea what we’re talking about!” Shinichiro immediately backtracked.
“Shinichiro, that’s sick.” Benkei shook his head at the ongoing conversation, gently pulling you away from Shinichiro’s arms before inspecting you for any sign of harm or injury. He gave Shinichiro the same judgmental glare as Waka before turning to glance at the girl right in front of him. “Did he hurt you, Y/N?”
Before a decent explanation could be made by you, it had appeared that you had run off to tell your friends the seemingly positive news. You shouted at the top of your lungs, “Emma! Shin said he would marry me.”
Takeomi walked in after you had sprinted past him through the shop’s back door, glaring down his captain with a menacing smile. “Am I high or did she say what I think she said? Better have a decent excuse, Shin.”
“Big bro’s farts stink like hell, Y/N." Mikey interjected, becoming amused with the way you always accepted Shinichiro's false promises without a second thought. "Oh, I bet he only said that so you would stop crying.”
Mikey had never received a more painful punch in his life, knocking him straight in the jaw as you ran back inside to tattle on your best friend.
“Shinichiro! Manjiro’s being mean to me. He keeps saying you're not gonna marry me!”
Soon after, the unexpected news of Shinichiro's death crashed on your body like a bucket of ice water. You refused to eat, sleep was no longer a priority, school was no longer a necessity. A piece of you had died along with him, a piece that would leave a gaping hole in your heart, a piece of yourself that would never come back.
“Big bro would have wanted you to have it,” Mikey said quietly, onyx irises devoid of emotion. “Take care of it, okay?”
Shinichiro’s chain necklace, the one you always fiddled with as a child. The one you always loved hearing clink against his neck as he worked on a motorcycle. It was yours now. The necklace found a new home upon your neck, the frigid metal weighed heavy on your collarbones, it would serve as a constant reminder of the love you held for Shinichiro.
No one ever told you the difference between love and grief.
The visits to Shinichiro’s grave became less frequent though your feelings for him were still tucked away in the folds of your heart. Shinichiro Sano was once the iridescent sun and you were his precious little moon, orbiting his ethereal presence as if he were the only celestial body in existence.
“I’m in high school now, Shin. I wish you could see how much I’ve grown,” You sighed, hugging your knees to your chest as you spoke to the shining tombstone. “Bet you’d wish I was still begging for your attention.”
“Manjiro and Emma are doing well though we haven’t spoken in a while. The Black Dragons have changed, Shinichiro. More than when you were around. I wish you never left us…”
Inui Seishu was someone you would never would have expected to become friends with. He held the first-generation Black Dragons with high respect. You had previously spotted him hanging around S.S. Motors along with the other delinquents Shinichiro often housed. Kokonoi Hajime was someone who tested your patience with every breath he took, he loved to tease and get under your skin with a snaky remark. The two reminded you of a cat and dog duo, one who's constantly at the other’s throats.
“I made a new friend; I’m sure you remember him. His name is Inui, basically sees you as a god.” You chuckled, "He hangs out with Waka and Benkei sometimes. Oh, they're doing fine too..."
A shaky breath escapes your quivering lips, the childhood memories of the time you all spent together come flooding in like a tidal wave. “It’s time for me to grow up, Shinichiro. You said I needed to find the right person to fall in love with, right?”
Except you’re not sure how to do that nor how to even begin on that journey.
Your soft steps echoed the graveyard as a warm gust of breeze enveloped your body as if to reassure yourself that you were making the right choice. “This is goodbye, first love."
You peered up at the sunset, sparing it a gentle smile as you continued on your path. “Shinichiro, wherever you are, you’ll live in my heart forever. I’ll always remember that smile of yours… too bad it was your last.”
Koko can’t seem to remember when days started turning into weeks, into months, into years. When the fine lines of separation between Seishu and Akane began to blur into one person. It was fascinating how his grief had him groveling in a rut of searching for a glimmer of happiness. He never realized how low he had fallen until he kissed Inupi’s sleeping figure in the library’s silent corridors. He swore it was Akane who welcomed his anguished lips to lie upon hers. He swore it was her who was resting against the windowsill, basking in the comforting embrace of the sunshine pouring in through the glass.
What have I done?
His sleepy lids fluttered open, he glanced up at the evening sky, gentle streaks of golden light dance across the scattered clouds, hinting at the vibrant display yet to come. The air is calm, and the world seems to hold its breath, savoring the tranquil moment as day slowly gives way to night.
Kokonoi groggily reaches out to the figure next to him, his fingers brushing against the other person’s arm. “Akane?”
He was instead greeted by your teasing voice, a slight snippy tone as you get firm with him as he wakes up. “Good morning, Your Highness. It’s about time you woke up.”
“It’s not very good if you’re here,” He muttered as soon as he realized who exactly he was talking to. What a joke. “Were you watching me sleep? I knew you were a freaky girl, been telling Inupi since the day we met.”
“Remind me again why I even bother with you, Koko…” You snapped, shaking your head at the attempt to insult you. "I'm not the one who sent some cryptic ass text telling me to meet you here. You were the one I found asleep in the middle of the field."
He chuckled at the remark, sticking his tongue out just as he always did when being smug. “Lack of a brain, clearly.”
The summer air was thick with moisture, each breath feels heavy, laden with the scent of blooming flowers and freshly cut grass. The humidity wraps around everything, making the world seem slightly softened and hazy. Beads of sweat form quickly, tracing lazy paths down foreheads and necks, as the heat lingers even in the shade. The atmosphere is thick, almost tangible, carrying the distant hum of cicadas and the occasional rustle of leaves in the still, sultry air.
One question weighed on your mind, escaping your chest before you could think clearly. An inquiry that desperately needed an answer, no matter what kind of potential rift it would cause for either of you. “Koko, have you ever been in love?”
“Yes,” He paused for a moment, tilting his head and closing his eyes in deep concentration as he pondered on how to answer the question. “She was beautiful,” Kokonoi said, cutting through the momentary silence. “I wanted to marry her. Hell, I was going to marry her but—“
“Who’s Akane?”
Kokonoi realized you heard his muttering as he was asleep on the grass.
“Life never works out, does it?” A cold laugh escaped your lips, “I lost my first love too."
Kokonoi is aware of the fact you are an open person, he’s never witnessed the endless void in your eyes as you begin to relay the story of your lost lover. The empty shell you became as soon as the words began to depart your mouth. What a soulless sight.
It reminds him of himself. He hates it.
“We both promised we could marry once I was older. Now I’m beginning to realize how naïve I was to think it would work out.”
“Seishu told me about his older sister. She reminds me of Shinichiro, did you have a chance to confess to her?”
“That’s none of your damn business. Everything I do is for Akane," He admitted. “It’s the only way I can atone for the sins I carry.”
“Do you think that’s fair to Seishu?” You questioned, leading the conversation into dangerous territory. Kokonoi perked up at the drop of his friend's name, narrowing his scrutinizing gaze at you. It was like you knew which aggravating buttons to push with an expert hand, slowly setting the stage for an argument to brew and burst out. “Pushing him away because you believe that you deserve to suffer in his place. That’s a bit selfish, don’t you think?”
“What do you know? You’re just a stupid little girl who can’t get over the ghost of someone who’s never coming back!”
“You’re just a scared little boy who can’t face the fact that he deserves to make his own choices! Are you so far gone that you'll do anything for the sake of money?!” You fired back, frustration beginning to cloud your mind as the argument escalates further and further. “The Kanto Manji Gang is going to ruin you, Kokonoi."
“It’s my life, isn’t it? Quit acting like you own me." He griped, slapping away the finger you had jammed into his chest.
You scoffed, shooting him a pained glare as the knot in your throat tightened with each syllable that escaped your lips. Koko reflected so much of your grieving self that it was painful to stare at him straight on. “I’m not going to speak for Akane, but I know Shinichiro would hate me for using his memory as an excuse to make myself miserable! Let the dead rest, Hajime. It’s the least we can do for them to able to move on peacefully.”
Kokonoi has never received such an enraged response from you, nor has he ever witnessed you shedding tears over a fight. “Some days are more difficult than others, I understand that. I can function normally until the band aid over my heart is ripped off once again and I’m just a pathetic crying mess.”
Kokonoi can picture himself at home, destroying his belongings and wrecking his room in a fit of relentless rage.
“40 million... I'll make that money even if I die."
Kokonoi can picture himself receiving the phone call from his best friend, anguished sobs echoing across the line as he delivers the bone-chilling news he never wished to hear.
“Akane... She’s dead."
He can picture himself inside the hospital room, looming over Akane’s lifeless body. Bandages covering the unsightly burns across her body. Even in death, she was such a beautiful sight despite the injuries that consumed her entire being.
“I’m sorry, Akane! If only I had more money…”
Koko wishes he could be freed from the guilt of losing his best friend’s sister. Freed from the urge to chase at a fleeting shadow. Freed from the need to atone for his past self's shortcoming and unfulfilled promises.
“I walk into Mikey’s house sometimes expecting to run into Shinichiro,” You sighed, laying back in the grassy area of the ground. Kokonoi’s gaze traced your gentle features, admiring how well they reflected with the sunset’s glow on your skin. He can sense a subtle aura of longing radiating from your body “I always expect to see him waiting for me in the old bike shop.”
He can barely stop the suppressed confession from escaping his lips as soon as he blurted it out. “I kissed Inupi because I wanted to believe that it was Akane who was sitting there."
Surprisingly, you say nothing in response. Simply accepting it for what it is.
"I tried going out with Mikey for a while thinking he could make up for Shin. We both realized it wasn't healthy for either of us." You know he isn't seeking a response, instead someone who could find common ground. “Moving on doesn’t mean we’re leaving the people we love behind us. It means we have to live for ourselves, we get to choose our own paths, we write our own stories.”
You sighed, standing up and brushing away the debris lingering on your pants. The guilt of arguing with him earlier continued biting at your conscious, beckoning for you to reconcile with the boy. “It’s late, I should be heading home soon. I’m sorry for raising my voice at you, Hajime. I was trauma dumping, totally uncalled for.”
He nodded his head in response, choosing to acknowledge you passively rather than with words. Kokonoi could sense the iron-clad walls surrounding his heart beginning to cave in, threatening to tear apart his remaining composure. The years of pent-up grief was starting to bubble up and escape through the tattered seams of his soul.
Y/N has always treated me as friend even though I never considered her more than a nuisance.
Koko trembled, tears rolling thickly down his face, stinging his cracked lips. His hands twisted around each other as if he could press the worst of his feelings back into his skin. “Y-Y/N?” He croaked.
You immediately abandoned your thoughts, rushing to his side. “Koko? What is it? What’s wrong?” Your voice was sharp with concern as you scrutinized Koko any sign of something amiss.
Hesitating, Koko shook his head, his mouth opening and closing before opening again. His quivering voice could barely be heard from above a tiny whisper. “Could you just… hold me? Just for a minute?”
The request was bizarre but the anguished expression consuming his features sent your mind into overdrive. It was as if he would split into pieces if you weren't there to hold him together. He resembled a child crying out for their mother, desperate to be reassured that everything would be okay, he was safe, he was fine.
“Yeah, yeah of course.” You pulled Koko in, enveloping him in your arms, one hand cradling the back of his head and the other rubbing soothing circles into his back. You were quiet for a moment before you spoke, soft and gentle, “You know, it doesn’t have to be for just a minute. I’m here for as long as you need me.”
Koko is unable to understand how someone as compassionate as you can exist. Despite the constant banter you two have shared over the past year, you always treated him so well. He admires the way you’re ready to hand out your infinite kindness without expecting anything in return. He’s forgotten that there are people in this world who could care less about money or what he can offer to them.
There are people in this world who are the walking definition of a guardian angel. People who are there to listen and guide others when they've lost themselves, Koko stumbled upon that epiphany as soon as he became vulnerable with you. No expectations, no need to return the favor, it did not feel transactional to him like his other dealings.
“I’m not a good person. I don’t deserve comfort,” Koko mumbled into your shoulder. He was speaking more to himself than to you, finding a way to cope with the influx of manic chaos rushing through his veins. Your embrace was more than enough to calm his nerves though he cursed himself internally for allowing himself to be so weak in front of you.
The pure vulnerability of being able to indulge in another person’s care was something Koko thought he would never experience. Life served him the worst hand of cards, the only way to survive was to outsmart the system by creating his own.
“Regardless of whether you’re a good person or not, people don’t become better by treating themselves badly. And you don’t have to earn my kindness or ration it like it’ll run out. You already have it, as much as you’ll let me give you.”
You both stood like that for much longer than a minute.
"To be honest, I tolerate you better than most. You can be nice to have around, sometimes." He admitted, thinking you deserved some shred of his kindness in exchange for the temporary sanctuary you provided.
"I think that's the sweetest thing you've ever said to me, Koko. I should record that, say it again!" You rolled your eyes playfully, holding up your cellphone as if you actually wanted to follow through with your plans.
Koko rolled his eyes at the suggestion, choosing to stick his tongue out as a response. "Don't push your luck, Y/N. This won't happen again."
"Hajime... It's time for you to live your life the way you want to."
“I will," Koko affirmed. "Don't have to tell me twice."
Meanwhile, Inui sighed from the sidelines, making note of the way you avoided his gaze as if it would change how easy it was for him to read you. He noticed the sheepish smile on your face and the subtle rosy tint on your cheeks but decided to spare you the embarrassment of explaining as soon as you approached. "How did it go?"
You cleared your throat, a tiny grimacing smile soon replacing the bashful expression. "Better than expected. You should reach out to him before 2nd Gen Toman faces Kanto Manji, I would hate see either of you get hurt."
Inui shook his head, returning a pained smile "You've done enough, Y/N. Koko needs to figure out the rest on his own. Want me to walk you home?"
"Thanks, Seishu." You answered but continued to politely decline his offer. "But I have to catch up with someone in a bit. I'll see you around okay?"
"Right, get home safe then. Message as soon as you make it back."
Soon enough, the sight of a familiar tombstone comes into view, a pair of fresh incense sticks and a pack of his favorite cigarettes adorning the gravesite. Waka and Benkei must’ve paid a visit right before you arrived. "Hiya, Shin. Guess what? I think I found someone to fall in love with. He's rough around the edges in some ways but I can sense that he has a warm heart. Sure, he gets on my nerves and can be too cocky for his own good, but he has some redeeming qualities.”
A tiny grin dances across your lips as you fiddle with the hem of your sleeves. “You know, it may be too soon to call it love but we’re starting off as friends… that’s a nice start, right?”
It’s quiet, so painstakingly quiet that you swore you could hear Shinichiro’s voice being carried through the wind. The graveyard was desolate considering the late hour. Call it wishful thinking, a side effect of long term grief or pure and utter delusion but the words strike like a resonating chord in your heart.
'I’m proud of you, Y/N.'
The graveyard feels a little less lonely tonight.

Hiya! It’s me again. I wanna know what you think the explanation behind the clothes is.
I have a few explanations myself:
Like some are a bit different, so they might just have a really similar style.
Their stylists ship them and want them to wear the same clothes.
There are (were?) married and share(d) a closet.
…
Also that one comic con with Sebastian wearing the same shirt Chris wore the day before, what was that?! My mind is saying the fucked. Like in that one fanfic were they got come on Sebastian’s shirt and they overslept. But they could also have been hanging out in Chris’ room, drinking and falling asleep, just to pick up the wrong shirt. But they were too happy for that. I know I’m a bitch when I drank the day before.
Anyways thanks for listening to me rambling!
related to this
Hey!
I think a few different things, like, okay, obviously the most fun 😏 explanation is that they're boyfriends who share closets and sometimes who have quickies in hotel rooms, too, with all their clothes ending up in a pile, and thus forgetting who's shirt is who's and swapping. But, the first point you made is probably most likely because... men's fashion is like that. Often plain and repeatable. But I also would believe the second, too, lol. I don't know about Ilaria Urbinati (Chris' stylist), but Michael Fisher has done some pretty ship-ish shit over the years, lmao. And I love that he has. It's so entertaining every time. It makes me lose my mind.
Here's a few examples:
Sharing pants
Comparing outfits
This is just... what the fuck. WHAT THE FUCK.
And I can't find the exact post 😫 but I'm pretty sure I remember Michael Fisher roasted this shirt of Chris'? I recall him posting an Instagram story where he compared the tan patch around his stomach to looking like... someone's stomach
So, if he doesn't ship it, he at least is very aware of Chris and his fashion choices 👀
But, yes! Whatever the reason, it's fucked up!! Oof, yeah, I assume you're talking about either
"Room 427" by musette22 and paperstorm
Or, possibly,
"sweet disposition (never too soon)" by luninosity
Either way, yes!! I will always be a sucker for the accidently-swapping-clothes-after-a-hurried-fuck. It's so good
I appreciate your rambles, haha. Thanks!

How long have u done art,If so what was ur first drawings or first ROTTMNT drawings? And sorry if i put to much im just obsessed with ur comics and if u need ideas im ur person 😉
Signing Off -Luv3
Thank you so much for the encouragement! ❤ (That can be a hard thing to come by these days...)
I've been drawing for 6 years now. It's been an incredible journey through all that time! My very first drawings were of nature. 🌿 But when My oldest sister was learning to draw this art style called Manga, I instantly fell in love with it! So I started looking for tutorials. I drew and drew Manga characters, filling out multiple drawing books with them. 📚
So lets say 5 years past now and I'm falling in love with tmnt. ❤🐢 (Specifically the rise versions.) You'd think I would have started small, like drawing a picture or two of the rise tmnt characters, but noooo, I literally started with a comic! 📝 A Brains and Brawn comic called 'Trust Fall'. (I've been meaning to post it here on Tumblr, but haven't gotten around to it.) But back then I was too scared to post my comics. "What if people don't like them? What if people think I'm weird for liking these characters??" Is what I thought.
But that's when I came across Corpuscraft on Ao3. They had a comic with similar ideas to what I wanted to make with my comics. It showed me that others did like what I liked, and that I wasn't alone! But the unfortunate truth is people talked behind Corpuscraft's back and said awful things about their story and art style. 💔 They ended up not finishing the story and even eventually taking the comic off the web, all because some people were jerks. But when all that happened, I had a fire start in me, and this whole situation made me stronger! 🗡🙂🛡 Lord bless the person behind the name Corpuscraft, and help them find peace in their time of trouble.
... So thank you for asking the questions! I hope you have a wonderful day!
Lord bless you! ❤

So i’ve noticed that whenever someone writes a crossover between Spiderman and DC in general, I notice that he’s always dropped in Gotham City. Granted, I can understand why. Batman and Spidey have similar origin stories. They both have the combination of brains, brawn, and technological edge that keeps them alive against criminals. Bruce already has 12+ kids, so he has experience taking in and housing other vigilantes. With the release of the MCU Spidey and Tony being his mentor/father figure, it’s not hard to realize that Bruce Wayne is the Tony Stark of DC and people want this to echo. That said, I like variety and I started thinking about what would happen if Spidey ended up in a different DC city. This is my personal take on what would occur.
These would basically start with Peter getting zapped into another universe out of nowhere and has to make do. Also, I am not sticking with one specific incarnation of any characters (sorry MCU fanbase) but instead trying to create a character amalgam based on various depictions across comics, movies, and games. In other words, I am taking certain liberties with characters/locations, but considering this is all a total AU, I feel like I am entitled to do so.
Metropolis:
Spidey would likely start living in the Suicide Slums seeing as he can’t afford his own apartment yet. He’s grown up in New York (and SS is based of East Side NY) so having to deal with this lifestyle isn’t too hard for him.
He would make friends with his landlady, Natasha Irons, and her uncle pretty quick
Peter would try to apply at the Daily Planet for photography, using a resume that isn’t totally inaccurate but he’s hoping nobody goes looking to see if the Daily Bugle exists in this world
Perry wouldn’t hire him as a photographer, he’s got Jimmy already. He would more likely hire Peter as the on-site IT repairman and maintenance guy to keep the computers running and up to date. Pete is thrilled by this
Needless to say, despite losing his intended job, he still makes friends with Jimmy. Lois takes a bit of warming up, but she comes around eventually
Lois knows Peter is homeless (Ace reporter on the case) and she starts finding ways to help him out, like dragging him out to lunch with her and Jimmy or bringing him things from home. Peter promptly annoys her to death by insisting he’s alright and doesn’t need help.
Metropolis is a lot different from New York. Peter is pretty stunned the first time he debuts and gets praised and cheered on instead of scorned as a menace. It’s a bittersweet feeling that he had to get blasted into another universe in order to be appreciated
Most of the criminals are used to going up against Superman, so they have some serious power behind their punches. Spidey is very unused to not having to pull his own punches (cause Spiderman canonically has to hold back in order to not take someone's head off)
Inversely, there are a lot of superheroes as well. Supes and the Kryptofam aside, Metropolis has plenty of non-Kryptonian superheroes (Steel, Black Lightning, Booster Gold) so Spidey would definitely run into them and start making friends. I mean he’s already got the Metropolis red and blue down
Spidey would unintentionally start saving Lois, Jimmy, and Perry from danger just like Superman did during his early years. Clark is lowkey salty that Lois is teasing him about “switching out for a younger model”.
Lex Luthor is also pretty steamed that he has to deal with ANOTHER superhero getting in his way. He would be privately impressed that Spiderman can handle most situations with brains over brawn as opposed to Superman, but a hero is a hero.
Jimmy is the first to find out Peter’s identity, mostly because he doesn’t have the “awkward reporter” identity on lock the dame way Clark does.
Jimmy insists on being Spidey’s wingman, because hey he’s already Superman’s best buddy, why stop at one?
Lois is the second person to find out (mostly because she can always tell when Jimmy is lying to her). She is a little mad that someone else beat her to the finale, but she would by now have warmed up to the skinny IT nerd.
Clark is the last person to find out. He and Spiderman would meet somewhere on the rooftops and have a heart to heart. Peter feels safe venting to Supes about being from a different universe, and how he has been struggling to survive in a strange universe and being a good hero at the same time.
At this point, I feel the story would move out of a Metropolis/Superman crossover and into a full Justice League one because Supes is going to do his best to help Spidey get home. Thus, he needs to get the JL involved
Star City
I don’t know much about Star City’s layout, but I assume it is built like most cities in Northern California. Peter would likely find a low-income apartment and get a decent paying job to make ends meet.
At some point, he meets Roy Harper who just got back from rehab and finds that his old apartment is being rented out by a skinny little twerp who reminds him of Nightwing
For the record, as much as I liked New52 Roy with the Outlaws, I also enjoyed pre-52 Roy being a successful father and leader of the Outsiders. My take would be Roy just returning from a forced stint in rehab while Ollie and Dinah watch Lian. He didn’t exactly part with them on good terms and is afraid of what they and Lian with think of him.
Roy and Peter end up living together after Roy finds out Peter can barely keep up with rent and uses his detective job to help make ends meet. Peter realizes this was how Aunt May used to feel when he was the one paying the bills at home.
Commence hijinks of Roy and Peter trying to pull off dual identity jobs while not telling each other
Roy and Peter both know things aren’t copasetic with each other. Roy is still struggling with his history as a drug addict and is still avoiding Ollie, while Pete is starting to feel homesick and worry about the people he left behind. (Don’t worry, they end up talking and making each other feel better)
Roy’s friends and family keep showing up and making it hard to keep a secret identity: Jason pops up with beer from time to time, Nightwing shows up in full costume not knowing Roy is not living alone, Artemis is pissed when she thinks Roy abandoned Lian and picked up another kid (yeah I put Artemis in the DCU, sue me if I like her), and Dinah just coming over to talk and finding out she has two angsty boys that need help instead of just one
Star City has fewer criminals and more assassins than other cities. I would reason Peter isn’t prepared to deal with Merlyn or Slade and takes a bad hit
Roy throws apprehension to the wind and books it to Queen Mansion in order to save his friends life. This results in a whirlwind of everybody freaking out when Roy shows up with a bloody, dying teenager pleading with Ollie for help (Ollie, I should mention, was not aware Roy was back until this point)
Dinah is the only one who stays calm enough to help Peter while Roy, Ollie, Mia, and Artemis all have a family feud moment.
The end result would be Roy getting back together with his family, taking back custody of Lian, gaining temporary guardianship of Peter, and getting back in touch with the superhero community.
As before, I’m sure Ollie would drop it to the JL that Peter is from another dimension and he needs some help, but brags that if they can’t get him home, he’s one-upping Batman on the adoption chart
Central City
Yes, I know Keystone also exists. But considering the two are in different states and Spidey doesn’t have superspeed, so I’m restricting it to Central.
He manages to get a well-off apartment, unfortunately it’s right across the street from the Keystone Saloon. He manages to lies about his age in order to get work as a cleaner/barkeep. (For the record, I can totally see Peter’s chemistry skills coming in handy here with drink mixing. Keep in mind that Flash, who is a chemist by trade, once worked as the barkeep too)
The Flash Rogues are pretty pissed that the owner hired a kid to work the counter, but after getting some (not at all believed) reassurance from Peter that he’s just small for his age, they decide to keep an eye on him while there
Meanwhile, outside the bar, the Rogues are a bit surprised/annoyed that a non-speed related newbie is foiling their heists. That lasts all of five seconds when they realize Spiderman is another minor.
Spidey, who is used to crazed egomaniacal maniacs swearing to kill him ten different ways, is very put off with the Rogues acting like overbearing uncles to him (”I know it’s finals week kid, WTF are you doing out this late” “Kid fix your damn costume and patch yourself up before you do this again, you're gonna get hurt” “Kid do you even eat?”)
They warm up to each other, especially when Spidey offhandedly mentions he’s not used to people being so nice to him (cue Captain Cold to assume child abuse)
The Flash family proceed to make Spidey’s head spin. Barry, Jay, and sometimes Wally stand still long enough to have casual conversation, but Iris, Jay, and Bart are a different story.
Barry starts to suspect Spiderman is hiding something. He doesn’t follow him home out of respect, but after talking with Cold during a heist, he starts to subscribe to the “child abuse” theory
The fact that Peter is more or less living bare minimum with fewer calories to fuel his healing factor doesn’t help. Those bruises after a fight aren’t healing as fast. It also doesn’t help that he’s showing up to work with half healed injuries.
The ruse is up when Trickster barges into Peter’s apartment one night in order to settle the debate and finds him still in costume patching up after a fight with a non-Rogue villain.
The Rogues proceed to haul Peter over to Keystone and dump him on Barry Allen (” Here, take this. He’s not allowed back out until he’s been fed, healed up, and fixed his suit. Don’t make us come back here Flash”)
Barry and Iris get the full story from Peter while they patch him up. Peter is pretty surprised that dimensional travel isn’t the weirdest thing Flash has ever done (the guy has created parallel universes for crying out loud)
Peter is very self-conscious about eating enough to maintain his healing factor and metabolism, until he realizes he’s among people who deal with the same problems in day-to-day life outside the house. It’s a touching moment
Once again, queue Justice League to swoop in and take over.
Yes I know not everybody is used to the Flash Rogues being so close with Flash, but I grew up with this particular variant of the characters and I like that it’s a change in dynamic between heroes and criminals
Coast City
Again, I’m not super familiar with Coast City other than it is DC’s take on Californian cities.
Peter takes a job as a delivery driver to make ends meet. One of the people he delivers to more than most is Hal Jordan (because I assume Hal is just like any other mid 30′s bachelor and prefers to order take out instead of cook for himself)
Hal is extremely put off by the pizza delivery boy who looks like he could be a clone or long lost son
By comparison, he is only mildly annoyed by the arrival of a new vigilante in Coast City. (As far as I know, Coast City doesn’t really have any hometown villains. The majority of the bad guys who attack are aliens who are after Jordan for being a member of the GL corps) Hal never really had time to go out patrolling like Spiderman does, so he doesn’t care at first
Ultimately, due to teasing from the other Lanterns and Carol about “staking his turf and laying down the law with the newbie” Hal goes out as GL to talk with Spidey. Halfway through their “conversation”, one of Hal’s enemies shows up to try and settle the score
Spidey and GL team up, but Spidey isn’t exactly prepared to deal with the things a power ring can do. His costume gets shredded and immediately gets ousted as the pizza guy less than a week after dropping in Coast City
Hal is having a crisis over this. (What if this kid is his long lost son after all? I’m not enough of a bastard to just leave this kid to struggle with homelessness knowing I could help him. Dammit Batman, you are a terrible influence!)
Hal makes Peter quit the pizza gig because, “kid you are way too young to be working anyway and CPS will eat me alive if they find out I was okay with this”
Hal, predictably, is zero percent ready to be taking care of a fidgety superteen. Like this guy's level of parental incompetence would terrify Batman. Here he is having spontaneously taken in a kid off the streets when he can’t even feed himself.
Carol hears about this and puts him through the wringer about “How to Parent” Queue Hal doing the most ridiculous things from buying cheesy Parenting For Dummies books to attending seminars for single moms
Long story short, he gets his act together over this because if Peter is in fact a lost family relative, he wants to make an impression/make up for lost time (Peter meanwhile, is oblivious to this thought process and doesn’t think he and Hal look that much alike. They do XD)
Hal and Peter having a bonding moment over at Ferris Air, with Hal taking Peter flying in one of his jets. Hal is shocked that Peter is so familiar with and enthused by the inner workings and considers pestering Carol about getting Peter a position as a mechanic. Carol says not until he graduates.
Word gets out about Spidey and Hal slowly, mostly because Hal is the only hero in Coast City and manages to keep his secrets under wraps. Batman mostly figures out the truth due to Hal’s change in character (Sorry Bats, can’t be on for monitor duty tonight, I gotta get home and cook for my ki - I mean, for Carol. Cause she’s the one who over at my place. Totally. No one else)
Flash and Green Arrow show up in Coast City to throw Hal a “Welcome to Parenthood” party. Hal is not amused, but Carol very much is.
Peter finally breaks to Hal, and then the JL about being from another universe. Hal is pretty crushed about Peter not being a blood relative due to entertaining the fantasy for so long.
The League starts trying to find ways to send Peter back. Meanwhile, he starts parading Spiderman around during League meetings going on about how he proved them wrong and being a successful parent. It especially annoys Batman. (”What’s the matter Bats? Mad that you aren’t one of a kind anymore?”)
Fawcett City
For starters, I’m really not sure which variation of the Marvel Family to use: the New52 or Pre-52 versions. It makes it kinda hard to nail down plot elements since I go back and forth.
I like the idea of Peter and Billy being homeless together and helping each other out, Peter being an older brother which is something he has no experience with.
That said, I’m not super familiar with how DC handled Billy later in the timeline other then he started growing up, joined the radio station as the host, and met Mary. Might not be the best storyline to use seeing as it seems a bit spotty
I like the idea of the New52 Marvel Family finding Peter out in the cold and inviting him in. Peter is thrust into the role of the awkward older brother with six small children looking up to him
Of course, when they transform in front of him, they aren’t so small anymore.
Despite having a caring family, food, and support, Peter is afraid of telling everyone who he is. The fear of overstaying his welcome keeps him up at night.
Not to mention, the Marvel’s have the crime fighting down cold, meaning there isn’t really a home for Spiderman either.
I think a moment where Peter privately confesses who he is/where he comes from to Billy would set up the story. Now Billy realizes his new big brother is going through the same problems he went through with trying to fit in.
As Captain Marvel, he tries to find the Marvel (haha) universe via the Rock of Eternity, but gets no results. Now Billy is afraid of telling Peter the bad news because he’s pretty sure Peter is depressed and doesn’t want something to happen.
Billy starts subtly asking Cyborg at the watchtower about research into alternate universes because maybe science can succeed where magic failed
The opportunity for Spidey to shine comes when Dr. Sivana starts up a machine that drains magic and makes the Marvel’s powerless. Queue someone with no magic powers but a lot of technical know-how to swoop in and show what he can do.
I feel something that could potentially happen is the machine backfiring and giving Peter some magical abilities as a result (I mean, the Marvel’s are basically the sources of Earth’s magic from what I can remember. Anything can happen)
From here, not really sure what could happen. I suppose Peter having to accept that he can’t go home, but is happy he can stay with the Vasquez family and still continue being a hero to his adopted siblings in and out of costume. Alternatively, the magic blast could shoot him back to the Marvelverse, with Peter being upset that he never got to say goodbye. (Spoiler: Captain Marvel now knows where the Marvelverse is and comes for a visit)

⛵️ Five Fandoms, Five Ships ⛵
Get to know the blogger, via five different ships from five different fandoms!
Thanks for the tag @underacalicosky !!
Putting it under the cut because this is LONG, sorry.
I love them your honor. Doesn't even have to be romantic, I just want to see them being obsessed about each other. I'm also a pretty big obianidala fan, hence why I added her too. (I'm a multishipper really. I have my otp but there's a lot of ships that I enjoy)
1. Obi-Wan Kenobi/Anakin Skywalker(/Padmé Amidala) (Star Wars)
When I first watched star wars (not that long ago, I only watched it because I wanted to see the sequels in theater lmao) I wasn't a big fan of the prequels so I mostly ignored them, but then a couple years ago I randomly rewatched them in the middle of the night and suddenly I was obsessed. I'm not even sure how I ended up on AO3 (did I go look for obikin? Did I stumble on it? Idk) but eventually I started reading Pining in Preschool, then realised that @palfriendpatine66 was on tumblr, I started interacting with more people around here, and now I'm (slowly) writing fics, and I'm having the time of my life here, so thanks Pal!
I don't think any if my past fandom brainrots reached my current level so I'm pretty sure I'm here for the long haul (at least it's not stopping anytime soon).
It's not super obvious here but I'm actually a huge Marvel fan (well, the MCU, I've never read a comic), and especially Captain America. Stucky is just, 🤌 so tasty (a lot of similarities with obikin actually imo). I'd like to talk to whoever thought "I'm with you 'til the end of the line" was a straight sentence to repeatedly say to your bro throughout an entire century though. Like?? I'm all for relationships that defy the boundaries of platonic and romantic, but still, that's kinda gay.
2. Steve Rogers/James "Bucky" Barnes(/Peggy Carter) (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
The first MCU movie I saw was actually captain america 2 (and not the first one lol) in theater, and I was instantly hooked, though since Endgame I've been less into it, since my fav is gone (and I have to agree with tumblr on that one: they're making too many movies and shows, I can't keep up 😩)
(And I'm still super salty about what they did to steve in canon, they should have killed him off instead of whatever the fuck that was, honestly)
I also added Peggy because she's great, and polyamory is so much better than love triangles or shipping wars. (I'm not polyamorous but I believe in their beliefs. I think it's because of the aromanticism)
Same as with obikin (and stucky too tbh) I don't really care how they love each other, I just care that they do. They're the most important person to each other, be it romantic, platonic, familial, idc.
3. John Watson/Sherlock Holmes (mostly BBC Sherlock, but from the RDJ movies and the books too)
I've obsessed over (non-existent) clues during the last season, and deluded myself into thinking they'd become canon, alas, it didn't happen.
I've translated a couple of fics in french for that ship, but I've never written for it (I thought about it tho), and I've read a lot. That's the fandom where I've read some of the best queerplatonic fics, and that's my favorite interpretation of the ship, especially sherlock being some flavor of aroace.
4. Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens)
I love them as a queerplatonic relationship, and I genuinely think that's what they are in canon, the haters can suck it, that's not queerbaiting even if they dont become a canon couple.
Okay, I'm starting to see a patern here. Am I really that predictable? You can just copy-past what I said above.
(I'm fully on board with them being a couple though)
Hey, a straight ship! With a woman not added as a second thought!
5. Elizabeth Bennet/Mr Darcy (Pride and Prejudice)
Not quite the same vibe as the others, but I've read sooo many fics and books (straight up published fics lol), I've watched a bunch of different adaptations (even the one with zombies)... The worst part is that I think I've only read the og book once, oops.
I actually inherited that fandom from the women in my family lmao. My mom, sister and sister-in-law are all obsessed with it, so I read it to see what all the fuss was about and, yeah, I get it.
And that's it! There are other fandoms I'm into, and other ships in those fandoms, but that's pretty much it (the main one that's missing is Dinluke, the others are mostly smaller ones).
I'm not super actively in those fandoms (apart from Star Wars obviously) but i come back to them now and then. Usually I re-watch it then binge-read a bunch of fics (while my main fandom stays in the main spot in my brain) then I let it go again until it comes back (while obikin still stays in the main spot).
Also Harry Potter used to be my main obsession but JKR kinda ruined that for me so I'm not really into it anymore (hence why I didn't list it even though I have written fics for it).
Anyway that was way too long, if you've read all of this then props to you!
I'm tagging: @cottonraincoat @fem-anakin-skywalker @kingdomvel @ineffable-snowman @arobiwan (and whoever else wants to do it because I'm nosy and I want to know stuff about people)

These Crow Reboot haters are rearing their racist head as well. First they blab on about the disrespect to Brandon Lee, now they're throwing in the "oh my god the disrespect to the goth scene which is a distinctly WHITE subculture" for casting a FKA twigs as Shelly... Hey do they know Brandon Lee is fucking mixed lol
I have not come across a comment so explicit in their racism but I'm not surprised if you did because I did read some other "subtle" words about this new Shelly. Ahhh the way they have idolized and white washed their own sub culture is almost unbelievable.
And by white washed I mean not only the racist part but also the classism... Now suddenly all goths look one way : no tattoos like " rappers" they have "cool long hair" , "cool wardrobe" and they have the clear appearance of nice quiet guys.
Delusional.
You just need one ONE night at a goth club and you'll see people with normal clothes, the one with a lot of face piercings , some dressed like vampires , other with full face black & white make up , girls in tight leather attires and guys that seem out of a trailer park with tattoos like Bill in the new pic.
The "goths" want to be seen as "cool" by outside people, that's all , they are desperate for compliments ... they think they will stand out from the " current trends" if they have another Brandon Lee cosplayer in this movie. Someone "clean and decent ... "
I even got to read the stupid rant of the actress who played sarah in the '94 movie , she says that "the modern Eric Draven looks like the bad guys he is supposed to fight "
I'm sorry ? Why does he look like a criminal for these people ? Because of a bunch of tattoos ? Are they trapped in the 1950's ? it's fucking 2024 !
Also the way they talk about the new Shelly, saying " this one had a relationship with a drug mob and dies because of a deal gone wrong that's not my Shelley, she will never do that she was sweet and wanted a better world" 🙄
People think that you can only be a victim if you check all the boxes to be one. And no. Women , and people in general, can be tangled in very shady situations and even like that be absolute victims of people who are way more dangerous.
That is how this new movie will play , this is not the 1994 story done again. It's partially based in the comics with a modern touch, cause it's been 30 fcking years.
This is the tragic love story of 2 lost souls ( moderns Eric and Shelly ) who tried to get better overcoming addiction, fall in love in the process but didn't get to enjoy that new opportunity in life because of death... So Eric will return looking for revenge.
Why are people hating this new storyline, it sounds pretty similar to the one they love soooo much ('94) , oh yeah because they don't consider flawed people humans deserving of redemption.
Again. They are sooo out of the norm so accurate goth , that they are now on the conservative - purist end.
Uhh and don't get me started with the stupid posts the director of the 94 movie made ... That guy is an asshole.

My Journey with Omori
Hey everyone. Rather than my usual analysis-type posts, this is going to go into my own personal experience with Omori. I've kind of wanted to do this for awhile, because I feel like I have a lot that I want to say about this game. This post is going to have major Omori spoilers. I will also be going into some criticisms of the game (though not particularly heavily). This one will be a long one.
My Background
This might not be something that people care about, but I feel it is important to start with my life situation at the time I discovered the game.
In 2020, I graduated from college with a degree in game design. If you remember 2020, you can probably guess where I'm going with this. Everyone left for spring break, and the day before we were supposed to come back, they extended break by a week. Then, at the end of that additional week, classes had gone fully remote. My three roommates at the time never really came back to campus, and I finished out the lease alone. I never got to do any kind of internship, and I didn't get a graduation ceremony. I really didn't know what I was doing with my life, and finding a job in the games industry seemed impossible. So, I made a decision to move in with my aunt and work at an insurance agency. I was states away from anyone I ever knew, working in an industry wholly unrelated to what I had just dedicated years of my life to studying, but it was a job.
I wonder a lot if this was the right call. At the time, it seemed like an obvious decision, but now, I'm even more unsure of my skills when it comes to breaking into the games industry, and working 40+ hours a week can really sap your motivation when it comes to personal projects.
As the world opened back up, I started hearing from all my friends less and less, and life really started getting monotonous. Living alone is expensive, and I'm not good at opening up to new people.
Last November, by chance, a comic by twitter user Shrimperini appeared on my feed (it's still the pinned tweet on her account if you want to see!). One thing led to another, I saw some more positive reviews of the game, and I ended up picking the game up on Switch when I saw at on sale at a Best Buy.
Now, anyone that knows me could tell you, this isn't the type of game I usually play. I've always gravitated towards things like strategy games or rogue-likes. I only really stray from that in a few cases, whether it's to play a game with my friends, or just a game that I've had a long-standing connection with, like Pokémon. I did play Undertale and Deltarune (and loved them!), but overall, this type of game was not one that I typically went out of my way to play.
Also important: I've never interacted with any fandom in the way that I do with Omori. You can trawl through my Twitter, you won't find much of me talking about ships or obsessing over details until I started talking about Omori. All this is to say: Omori was a bit of a first for me on a few different levels. So, let's get into my actual journey with the game.
The First Playthrough: The Sunny Route
I unfortunately already knew a few details about the game going into things, but nothing that was too big of a spoiler. Something that I think gets overlooked is how great Omori's prologue is. In my opinion, the first night in Headspace is the best night in Headspace, bar none. It perfectly sets you up for what the game's going to be about, and I want to talk more about that later, because I feel that it really shines on later playthroughs.
Based on what I said about my background, you can probably guess what I'm going to say. Sunny's story and personality resonated heavily with me. At school, I was always the quiet one, just kind of following what my friends wanted to do until I started coming out of my shell a bit later on. Faraway is very similar to the town and suburb that I grew up in, and I know that many people feel the same way. Walking around Faraway felt like walking around my own home town today, years after almost everyone I knew back then has moved out and started their own lives. I mean this literally, as well, since I started playing this game right around American Thanksgiving, so I actually was back in my home town. It's nostalgic in a way, and I think that that is a major strength of the game.
I also do want to say, that while a Kel/Sunny comic is what introduced me to the game, I mostly assumed that it wasn't actually a canon ship. What I didn't expect was for the game to actually depict a close male relationship that does border on romantic in its presentation, which made those opening transition scenes of Sunny and Basil so interesting (as well as Basil indirectly calling Omori cute during the flower meaning segment), though I do want to talk a little bit more about that later.
From there, I feel that my experience was a lot like most people's first time with the game. I got to experience Faraway, then tried to rush through Night 2 of Headspace without paying much attention, so that I could get back to the real world plot. I didn't pay much attention during Sweetheart's Castle, and it's already-commented-on gameplay drag issues felt exacerbated by the fact that I just wanted to get on with it.
Real world day 2 happens, I got to meet Hero in the real world, Basil gets pushed into the lake, etc, etc. The shroud has started to lift on what's actually going on here. The North Lake segment got me ready to figure out what was actually going on, but first: Last Resort and Humphrey.
It was around this time that I began wondering if there actually was any kind of gay subtext actually going on. Of course, I had seen the Lost Library entry for the ride home from the beach, but as I descended into Sunny's subconscious, the way that the game started talking about Basil took on a much different tone. I got to the Branch Coral, and listened to it talk about how Sunny and Basil are connected by a "string of fate". This immediately set off some alarm bells in my head. A lot of debate has been had about this line, but for me personally, even if a string of fate isn't always romantic imagery, it certainly is most of the time. Seeing it written in the game (as something that Sunny's subconscious is saying, no less) completely had me reconsidering if there was a connection, which I hadn't really thought about since Basil's disappearance. I thought about the photo album, and how well Basil is treated in Headspace, and it just had me thinking.
I got through Humphrey, finished up the side quests that I still had, and it was time to start Black Space. Prior to that, however, Stranger lead me through Basil's garden once again, going over the flower meanings. I took note about how the meaning of sunflowers, as it was the first time I made the connection about Sunny's name and Basil's meaning for them (plus him literally always facing Sunny in several scenes lol). And then there was what Basil said about white tulips.
Being honest, it was difficult for me to interpret Basil as not being in love with Sunny after that, and Stranger's dialogue in some of the Black Space rooms really cemented that for me.
Black Space as a whole left me extremely intrigued as to what the plan was. The way it ended really left me in suspense for what was really going on. How did it all relate to what happened to Mari? I had already assumed at this point that she had taken her own life, due to some of the imagery. But what else was going on here? I didn't exactly think the game was going to veer back from being a horror title to turn into some kind of dating sim, but it was clear to me that Basil was involved with some other secret.
In a reversal of what I had expected of the game up until this point, I found it difficult to care about the real world plot of the game during day 3. It didn't help that it felt like a rushed resolution of the Aubrey plot, and I felt like I was simply going through the motions. I still have no idea how I'm supposed to interpret the key in the treehouse and how it got there, and it felt a little aggravating that plans were being made between Aubrey and Hero to include the hooligans next time, while Basil himself was still locked in his room.
So then, the truth sequence. It completely blew away my expectations for what the game was saying, and recontextualized so much of what came before it. Sunny had done something awful by accident, and Basil had done something awful to protect him. That last "Do you want to save Basil?" really hit me hard. I hadn't felt so part of the game until this moment. It was like I was Sunny, and I was mulling over whether or not I forgive Basil for the horrible situation his actions put us both in. The stakes are high, because it's clear that something bad will happen to Basil if I don't. I didn't actually know it at the time, but this is the first time you can actually choose not to save Basil. It's emotional.
And the fight. The way the game creates confusion as to what is actually going on between Sunny and Basil during it by using vague wording and hallucinations. Basil's desperation and the way his desire to protect Sunny as his "perfect" best friend come together, leading to the fight.
Memory Lane happens, and I honestly didn't think much of it at the time. It was cool to see some of the memories in better detail, but it wasn't as emotional to me as what came before or what will come after.
I would be remiss to not include that we learn that it was actually Sunny that had a crush on Aubrey, and not the other way around. I had already suspected this, based on Aubrey not being close to him in the photo album, along with the Lost Library memory, but I remember thinking it was an interesting choice to have Basil be the one to call it out.
I finished up the game, and it impacted me a whole lot. I wasn't planning on playing the other route at first, as I heard that it was just Headspace and mostly unchanged, and I felt satisfied with the story that I got. I walked away with the understanding that pre-canon, Basil had feelings for Sunny that he likely didn't understand, while Sunny had a crush on Aubrey that he was never bold enough to pursue. How they felt at the time the game actually took place is irrelevant to the story being told, outside of us understanding that these are relatable individuals, and I walked away alright with that.
Of course, after that initial wave of emotions from the ending subsided, I did have some criticisms. Sunny's actual friendship with Aubrey felt underdeveloped, as her behavior both in Headspace and the real world differ so heavily from how she behaves in the glimpses we see of the past. Unlike Sunny's relationships with the others, there's no real unique identifiers other than Sunny's crush. While I would not have wanted the only living female character in the main cast to have been treated as a love interest in both the real world and dream world, it would have been nice if the game gave us a little more than just the swing set conversations, like how we get Kel talking about their late night trips to Hobbeez. In addition, while I understood on a base level that whether or not Basil and Sunny are forgiven didn't really matter to the story being told, not seeing it happen left me feeling a tad empty.
Finally, I felt extremely dissatisfied with Headspace. On a superficial level, I could see that many of the things in Headspace were based on things from the real world, it didn't really feel like it had all that much significance, and the knowledge that it would be more of the same in the other route kept me from playing it. I occasionally visited the subreddit, read a few post-canon fics (Bask in the Sun by Lemari and They say Flowers are Meant to be Sunkissed by Witherdahlia being highlights with very similar concepts), and slowly immersed myself in the Twitter community.
Of course, as time went by, I started making my own interpretations about the game. I got very attached to Sunflower, as I felt the fics were the most interesting to read, and I already held the interpretation that Basil had those feelings for Sunny, even if I didn't think it even mattered if Sunny reciprocated (though I did like talking about their dynamic a lot). In February, Sunflower week happened, and I randomly happened across a tweet that pointed out how Sunny knows the recipe for a strawberry cake in Headspace, with that being relevant due to Basil's birthday being one in which a strawberry cake appears. This blew my mind a little bit, and I made the decision to go back and play the Hikikomori route.
The Second Playthrough: The Hikikomori Route
What I had previously assumed would be a slog through things that I had already done before turned out to be far more interesting. Without the desire to get back to the real world plot hanging over me, I found myself paying a lot more attention to the things that were happening in Headspace. Playing the prologue again was amazing, because I was taken aback by how it practically parallels the entirety of the Sunny route, right down to having to retrieve a stolen item and receiving an eyepatch after the boss fight. Some day, I might break that down further, because it's so interesting. But not today.
Pyrefly Forest and Sweetheart's Castle were much more bearable this time around, because I was paying attention to the little references to Basil and Sunny's friendship in Pyrefly, and the ways Sweetheart's Castle represented a candied-up version of the way that Sunny interprets the concept of "home". This time through Headspace, I saw the very subtle ways that Basil's thoughts "follow Sunny into his dreams". And then, rather than Mari leading you through North Lake, it's Kel. Stranger no longer tells us what Basil thought about white tulips and Sunny, but this time in Black Space, I noticed the implications that Sunny would open up to Basil about his trauma coming from the Lake Incident. It ends with Omori catching Basil in a bridal carry before returning his flower crown.
Whereas the Sunny route was this heart wrenching tale about forgiveness and guilt, and overcoming your fears for others, and how ignorance hurts those you care about the most, the Hikikomori route functioned almost as this deep dive into Sunny's subconscious. The fact that I was playing through pretty much the exact same stuff again but with a completely different perspective kind of blew my mind, and I wonder if this was intentional.
This is all to say that it was around this time that I was once again asking myself the question of if Sunny's feelings for Basil (at least pre-canon) were entirely platonic. Especially as I played the Basil Rush, with its new Tag Photos and Release Energy, I wondered if the game was actually trying to imply a romantic connection. And if it was, why? What purpose would it serve in the narrative for these feelings to exist? How does it relate to Sunny's crush on Aubrey, which surely must've existed in the story for a reason? And how does it all relate to the litany of things Sunny things about in regards to romance?
From a narrative perspective, I could reason that Sunny and Basil having feelings for each other that they could never healthily explore injects further tragedy into the day of the incident and Sunny locking himself away. It provides a context for Sunny's focus on "saving" Basil, both in Headspace and the real world. Basil is undeniably linked to photos and flowers, which are two huge symbols that appear throughout Sunny's mind.
Everything else is stuff I've already spoken about before. The way Sunny treated Aubrey parallels how he treated Basil, and via both things like his fear of spiders, and the way all the foods Sunny appears to know information on how to prepare being associated with Basil, his dynamic with Basil mirrors the way Sunny thinks of Hero and Mari's relationship during Memory Lane.
Playing through the Hikikomori route completely changed the way that I thought about Omori. It was no longer just the story of Sunny accepting his role in his sister's death, I was also now considering the possibility that the game did have a romantic subtext between its two deuteragonists, and thinking about the repercussions of such an idea.
As I completed everything that there was to do in the Hikikomori route, I was immediately taken in with the idea of replaying the Sunny route, with all the knowledge I now had from my previous experiences. First, let me say: Everything that I assumed about playing through Headspace a second time and was luckily wrong about, actually applied on my third run. I did not enjoy playing through Headspace on my third run through, and it will likely be awhile before I do so again.
However, I did start to get an appreciation for details that I missed in my first run in Faraway. Basil's little mannerisms during cutscenes, such as looking to Sunny before responding to Kel's insistence that they were all still friends, as well as the repetition of Sunny backing away from his friends' pain due to his subconscious guilt and fear of facing it, before the final payoff of Sunny choosing to walk back into the center of the room on his own accord during the confrontation with Basil. During Memory Lane, I took note that in the Treehouse Memory, Sunny asked to see one of Basil's pictures that had nothing to do with Aubrey, when previously he only asked to look at pictures of her. There are three different instances in which the player is reminded that Hero and Mari's relationship specifically is one in which they cook for each other specifically, and this information was now recontextualized with the knowledge that Sunny knows the recipe for a strawberry cake, owns a book about tofu (which he hates), and that's not even getting into all the stuff about smoothies in Headspace. Where Aubrey saying that Sunny "would listen to her talk to hours" was once a confirmation that Aubrey and Sunny did have any kind of dynamic at all, I now saw it as a recontextualization of how we were told Sunny interacted with Basil. (also, the "truth" being hidden in the toy chest, which is itself hidden in the closet was certainly a choice /j)
What was the point of all this?
Frankly, it's starting to feel like I'm running out of things to say about Omori. With every post I've made on here and Twitter, there's less things for me to extrapolate from Omori's storytelling, and it's unlikely that we will ever get any more added on to canon. I've grown to love this community, and I think it's so interesting when I look back at how I interpreted the game back in November when I first discovered it, and today. I hope that that will become evident with the mod that I am working on, Senesce.
Obviously, everyone has their own ideas when it comes to what Omori is trying to imply with its characters. Accepting Sunflower as "canon" (in the sense that those feelings do exist in some form) has deepened my love of the game and characters, and I love that other people can have entirely different interpretations and still be just as satisfied with the game! Even if it was all unintentional, I cannot deny that it has lit a fire under me when it comes to game writing.
I desperately want to create a game that has someone at home obsessing over the smallest details to extract meaning in the way I have for Omori. Flawed as it may be, it's special to me, and I'm glad I played it. Thanks for listening to me ramble about it!
#omori#omori spoilers#omori sunflower#sunflower omori#sunnflower#omori basil#omori sunny#why omori matters to me#this has actually been sitting in my drafts for awhile#also ive never really gotten the chance to say#but i actually think it's irrelevant if sunny and basil's relationship would be healthy or not#or if they actually get together at some point#what happens after the credits is pure speculation and not worth arguing about#what's important is how those feelings impact interpretation of the game and its themes/symbolism#(even if I do find it most satisfying to think that they do get together at some point years down the line)#(and find the post credits scene of them smiling at each other to be extremely satisfying due to the idea that regardless of being forgiven#(they at least have each other)#ramble over

Soyeon pulled the bucket hat back on to avoid unwanted attention when they reached Taehyung and Cassandra's place.
It wasn't a big house, but the area seemed quite nice and polished. Making Soyeon gape at it with wonderous eyes while wandering over the frontyard. "Are your friends wealthy or something?"
He couldn't help but laugh at this as it simply sounded ridiculous to him, shaking his head.
How was he supposed to explain they had all saved up tons of money from all their heists over the years?
"Not really, but, uhm, she's a doctor you know.."
She nodded, understanding and he internally sighed in relief that she believed his excuse. Ringing the doorbell then. And much to his surprise, it opened within a second. Taehyung standing there, leaning against the doorframe. Arms folded in front of him as a surprised look spread on his features when spotting the young woman behind his friend.
"Where you waiting at the door?" Yoongi huffed as he shuffled inside.
"No, just randomly passed by when you rang," he shrugged and stepped back to make space for them to enter, glancing at the girl then back at Yoongi. "You want to intoduce us or..?"
Yoongi blinked, only now realising what he meant as he turned around at Soyeon. "Oh, uhm-"
Soyeon, irritated by him acting so slow, slightly shoved him aside. Smiling awkwardly at the tall guy. "I'm Soyeon, hi," she introduced herself, "I'm sorry for causing such a turmoil, really. It wasn't my idea to bother you guys, but he insisted." She motioned to Yoongi behind her who remained quiet, scratching the back of his neck. "So I had no choice."
Taehyung chuckled at this, amused by her honest nature. "It's alright, that's how he is." Taking her hand then, he gave it a quick shake. "I'm Taehyung."
He spun around then, waving for them to follow him further inside. "Cas! They're here!"
The two followed suit, entering the living room where he had disappeared to. Soyeon's eyes catching a wall covered in postcards from all over the world before seeing a young woman with a round face and long curls already waiting. Jumping from her comfortable seat on the couch as soon as she spotted them. "Oh, hey there!"
She first hugged Yoongi, then turned to Soyeon offering her a hug as well which startled the younger woman. She accepted it nevertheless, finding this warm welcome quite nice.
"So you're my new patient," Cassandra eyed her with a smile and gestured to the hallway. "Let's go to the bathroom and I take a look."
Soyeon nodded, glancing anxiously over her shoulder at Yoongi who was giving her an ensuring smile. She swallowed and turned back to Cassandra, following her through the hallway.
"Here, sit down," the doctor said and pointed at a stool she had already prepared. "I'm Cas, by the way. Well, Cassandra. But the lads call me Cas," she giggled while sliding on a pair of disposible gloves.
"Soyeon."
"So Soyeon, what's the matter? Yoongs said something about a cut?"
She nodded, carefully taking off the hat and revealing the wound. For some reason she expected a similar reaction to Yoongi's when he'd first seen the cut. However, Cassandra was trained for this and had already seen all kinds of wounds over the years. So it needed more to shaken her up than this.
She leaned over, taking a closer look on Soyeon's forehead. Examining it for a moment, before grabbing a small towel. Soaking it under the tap with warm water and placing it on the wound, beginning to carefully clean it. "It's nothing severe, I can reassure you," she said then, seeing Soyeon easening at this, "But it was good he brought you here. If we don't stitch this up, it might get infected. Or leave a scar."
Soyeon bit back a giggle at the similarity of the words, it was almost a déjà vu. "Yoongi said the exact same thing."
"Mhm, he should know first hand after all," Cassandra mumbled, adding a bit of soap on the towel and continuing cleaning the wound. Soyeon winced a little, making her retreat. "Sorry, might sting a little," she smiled apologetically, before placing it back and continuing. Finally, she rinsed the wound with clean water and patted it dry.
She then grabbed a needle with a thread and forcepts, having already sterilized them after the call. "This will hurt a little, not gonna lie, but grit your teeth. It'll be over soon."
Soyeon gulped at the warning, her breath picking up when seeing the needle. She didn't say anything though. Just gritted her teeth, just like Cassandra asked her to. Earning an encouraging smile from her before she began her work.
"So, how did you and Yoongs meet? He literally just came back from the mountains two weeks ago or so," Cassandra giggled. Figuring out enganging her in a conversation would ease her nerves and distract her a bit.
"Mountains? What was he doing there?"
"Training his sword fighting or something," Cassandra sighed, "According to Tae he get's into a hermit mood every now and then and just disappears to quiet place."
"Huh." Somehow that didn't surprise Soyeon. She might not know him well, but he seemed like the type of guy to do something like this. He seemed to be a rather unflappable and placid, perhaps even a little withdrawn, person. Her gaze fell for a moment then, wincing at a stitch.
"H-he helped me get away from some guys who were after me."
"The same ones who caused this?" Cassandra countered with an arched brow, focusing back on her work.
"Yeah.. uhm." She didn't feel like elaborating further and Cassandra didn't pester her. "So, uhm, do you have to do this often? Stitching up stranger?"
The older girl giggled, shaking her head. "Only the guys. That's why I've got all the needed tools here at home. Although it has become less frequent those past few months."
"Oh, how come?"
"Well, they retired from their heists. At least Tae and Yoongi did. Our two other friends are still doing little thefts here and there for fun, I guess." A smile tucked on the corners of her lips while. Not noticing Soyeon's startled stare.
"Heists? Theft? Were they-"
"Thieves, yeah.. Oh! You didn't know?" Cassandra's brown eyes also widened in shock and she pressed her lips together. Regretting not thinking before speaking. At least she had just finished the last stitch and cut the thread. She leaned back against the sink then, groaning. "Crap, sorry. I shouldn't have told you. Thought those guys were after you 'cause you, too.. I thought you were also one and that's why he helped you. Oh, crap."
Soyeon's head was spinning. And she had to take a few deep breaths to calm herself and stay rational. Ok, a thief. At least not a hitman or drug dealer. Right? Could be worse.
"No, it's fine. I mean, I understand why he didn't tell me. I wasn't completely honest with him either after all.." Her brows knitting together then. "But you said they retired?"
Cassandra nodded while grabbing a tube of topical antibiotic from one of the cabinets then. Carefully dabbing some of the gel onto the wound with her finger. "Yeah, see.. Tae and Yoongi weren't really thieves thieves. They were more Jimin's partners in crime. He was the thief and they helped him with their skills," she explained, trying saving the situation. Hoping she didn't cause Yoongi any trouble now. "And when Jimin announced he wanted to step back, they settled here where interpol couldn't get them. So me and Tae got married and Yoongi wanted to get back into training and meditating." She grabbed a clean bandage then, placing it on the wound.
"I see.."
Cassandra noticed Soyeon's hands were scraped as well, so she heaved the sleeves of the cardigan, scrunching her nose when seeing all the grazes and scratches lying underneath them. She went back to rummaging around a cabinet.
"You know, they ain't bad guys." She glanced over her shoulder to Soyeon, who was obviously still taken aback by all this information. "They didn't hurt anyone unless for self-defense and only stole from rich people, banks, sometimes museums.. They wouldn't take the money of a poor old lady, is my point. If they were like this, I wouldn't have fallen in love with one of them." She grinned when finally spotting what she was looking for in the far back. Stratching her arm to reach it. "And especially Yoongi was the least thief of them all. I mean, Tae and Jimin had started when they were teenagers, while Yoongi just happened to stumble into it when meeting Jimin."
With a triumphatical grin she pulled the little brown bottle out. Taking a cotton stick and dunking it into the bottle before dabbing it onto the bigger scratches on her hands and arms. Making a thinking expression then.
"I've never really asked them how or why exactly Yoongi joined them, though, I just know he became friends with them after they did him a huge favour. That's all."
Soyeon hummed, processing everything. It made sense why he had never given her an uneasy or uncomfortable feeling, despite having been a criminal in the past. He wasn't a bad guy. Proven by the numerous times he had already helped her in the short period of time they knew each other. And that without even knowing what was going on. And even taking her to his doctor friend now for her injury. Seemingly without ulterior motives.
Perhaps she could indeed trust him.
"It's okay, really.." she smiled at Cassandra then who had just finished. "I don't think badly of him now. So don't worry."
The older girl exhaled in relief, smiling widely as well. "I'm glad, really. He's a great person. But don't tell him I told you. He might get mad at me," she pouted to which Soyeon giggled, giving her a quick nod. "I won't. And thank you for taking care of my wounds."
"You're welcome, that's literally my job after all."
They found the two guys in the living room where they had left them. Only that now a small furry dog was sitting on Yoongi's lap. A wide smile on his lips as he was petting and playing with it. He looked so content, enjoying the dog's happy wiggling that he didn't even notice them returning. It was a quite adorable sight for Soyeon, this carefree side of his.
"We're back!" His head instantly snapped up at Cassandra's voice. Glancing at them expectedly.
"So.. everything alright?"
She nodded, smiling briefly at Soyeon. "Everything's patched up, don't worry."
He nodded, seemingly relieved. He set the dog down then which the ball of fur took as a sign to return to his owner's arms instead. "Thanks, Cas. And sorry for bothering you two. You had probably other things to do."
"Not really," Taehyung shrugged from his seat on the carpet. Rubbing his hands over the dog's fur, "We were just chilling and watching some sitcoms."
"That sounds so lame. Like we'd be one of those boring old couples," Cassandra whined, laughing then, "But yeah, that's basically what we did. So you didn't bother. I'm glad I could help."
Yoongi and Soyeon bid them goodbye and walked back to the car. An awkward silence surrounding them as they sat inside and it took him a moment before he started the engine. She glanced at him before her eyes went back to her fiddling fingers. "Thanks for.. you know, bringing me here. Despite me refusing first."
"It's okay."
Sinking further into her seat, she contemplated for a moment whether she should mention her knowledge of his past or not. She decided against it. He'd mention it if he wanted her to know. Still, she knew a lot more about him now while he still didn't know almost anything about her. Soyeon took her phone out and unlocked it, sliding it over the dashboard.
Furrowing his brows, he turned the engine off again and picked the phone up. Taking a look on the display. It was a photo of Soyeon wearing a necklace. She tapped on the display with her finger. "That's what they're after."
"The necklace?"
She nodded. "It's golden with emeralds.."
"Yeah, I can see that. But what's so special about it? I've seen bigger ones."
"Of course you did," she quietly breathed, earning a questioning look from him.
"What?"
"Nothing." She cleared her throat then, taking the device back. "Anyway, I don't know why they're after it either. Honestly, I'd have just given it to them if it meant they'd leave me alone but.." She paused, her eyes gleaming sadly. Making him wonder why her mood changed. "But it's quite special to me," she admitted then, "My grandpa left it to me in his last will. It had been a gift from him to my grandma."
His features softened, understanding. "So obviously it has high emotional value." He gave her a sympathetic smile, seeing her nod. "I get it, really. I still have my first sword that my late uncle gave me," he smiled sadly. Leaning back in his seat then. "It's old. The blade not very sharp anymore and it has definitely seen better days but.. I'd never give it away."
Her eyes went up, reciprocating the smile.
"Still," he spoke up again as his brows knitted together in confusion, "It's weird those guys would be so persistent about a simple necklace."
"I know, it's ridiculous. They've literally hunted me all the way from Seoul."
The crease on Yoongi's forehead deepened and he chewed his bottom lip, thinking hard for any logical explanation. From his experience, there must be a deeper meaning behind it. It might not be a simple necklace after all, even if it seemed like one at first glance.
"Do you know where your grandfather got this necklace from?"
She shook her head. "Not exactly. It was on one of his business trips I guess."
He perked up at this. "Business trips?"
"Yeah, he was an art buyer so he travelled a lot."
His eyes widened, as if he caught onto something. "Can you send me that photo?"
"S-sure."
She watched him starting the engine again, driving off. And he remained silent while driving. Sometimes glancing at her with a troubled expression. As if he knew something she didn't. Soyeon, still uncertain about his weird behaviour, sighed. Propping her chin onto her fist.
The sun had set awhile ago. The city lights shining brightly, tiring her for some reason. Or perhaps it was the late hour. She yawned. "My new place is just a few blocks from here. Just drop me at the next intersaction."
A deep frown set on his soft features as he looked at her with questioning eyes. "You want to return to the place you fled from? What if they're still there, waiting for you like last time?"
She shrugged awkwardly, his judging tone making her feel insecure about her idea. "I mean.. I don't have anywhere else to go right now and I think, I'll just.. I don't know.." Her eyes closed. Tiredness overtaking her. Not only did she feel physically exhausted, but also mentally. This whole situation drained her, to say the least. "I honestly don't know what I'm supposed to do. You know, maybe I'll just give them the necklace after all if I encounter them again. It's not worth it, I mean.." Unintentional tears began welling up in the corners of her eyes and she tried to suppress them as best as she could, blinking them away when looking at him. "What am I supposed to do, Yoongi? What do you think I should do?"
Yoongi exhaled deeply, turning into a main street. "First, let's get you to a place they won't find you so soon. And then, with clear mind, decide what would be the best. I can't make that choice for you."
She pouted her lips, wiping away the single tear that rolled down her cheek. The car became slower and he eventually parked it at the side. "Just cry if you want to, no reason to hold back."
She looked up at him confused, meeting his worried glance. "I don't wanna cry.."
"So stubborn," he tutted, "You're already doing it."
Her eyes widened, not understanding. Only when he reached out, wiping the tears from her cheek with his thumb she realised they were streaming down her face, staining her cheeks. And in that moment, she gave in.
And he quietly sat there, only reaching out to hold her smaller hand and lightly squeaze it, since he was unsure of what else to do. Not wanting to interrupt her in any way as he felt she had held it back long enough.
Soon her sobs died down and she calmed down. Inhaling deeply, before looking at him and whiping the remaining tears with the back of her hand. "Thank you," she said for what had felt like the hundredth time that day. And for the hundredth time he said: "It's okay."
He let go of her hand then, grabbing the steering wheel and starting the engine again. Merging back into traffic.
"So where are you bringing me then?" she sniffed, not recognising the area.
"My place for now, if that's alright with you."
She let out a short laugh then. "Oh, Yoongi.. was this your plan all along, to get me to your place? You could've just asked so from the beginning," she smirked. Causing him to huff.
"I-it's just getting late and it'd be the safest place for you right now," he mumbled. His flustered expression and stuttering only made her burst out giggling.
"I know, relax. I was just messing with you."
He pouted, letting out a short laugh as well. "You know.." he began then, scratching the back of his neck. "Thanks for telling me what was going on. I get that it wasn't easy."
"It's alright. I thought you'd deserve to know after all this."
He nodded, contemplating for awhile. "Perhaps I should also be honest with you.. I avoided telling you about my past as well.."
"That you and your friends were thieves? I already know."
"You -" Startled, he almost switched lanes, earning a honk from another driver. "How do you -" He sighed then, having already figuring out the answer. "Cas, right?"
"Can't tell," she shrugged, acting innocent which caused him to laugh under his breath. Shaking his head. "This woman.. so you know?"
He didn't seem mad, which relieaved her. "Yeah. Honestly, I was first worried you might also be after the necklace if finding out but.. I thought my gut feeling couldn't be that wrong about you. So since I knew your secret, I told you mine. It was only fair."
"Your gut feeling, huh?" He peeked at her from the corner of his eye. "And what did your gut feeling tell you about me?"
She smiled to herself, glancing out so he wouldn't see her blushing. "Not much. Just that you're a good guy and I can trust you."
He smiled. "Good guys can also be jerks."
"Yeah, but you aren't one. Are you?"
"I try not to be."
"Well, you weren't one to me so far. That's good enough for me."
They eventually reached his place in a nice area with overall modern apartment buildings. Despite it being an apartment, it was quite large, although sparsely decorated. It mainly only contained dark furniture and a few figurines, along with several katana and a jersey decorating the walls.
She had somehow imagined with all the money they must've had collected over the years, that it'd look more showy. It was a pleasant surprise it wasn't though. It wouldn't have fit to his kind and more reserved personalitym she concluded.
Yoongi disappeared in a room then. And she stood there in the lounge area, not exactly knowing what to do with herself. She looked around, being a bit lost when hearing his steps again. Seeing him appearing then, holding a pillow.
She was about to thank him and reach out to grab it, when he let it drop on the couch and laid down. Leaving her dumbfounded. "Wha- Why are you laying on the couch?"
He blinked an eye open, arching a brow at her as he was confused about her confusion. "To sleep?"
"And where do I sleep?"
He simply pointed to the hallway. "Turn left, it's the last room in the back."
She huffed, following the direction his finger had shown her, then looked back down at him. Her arms folded in front of her chest. "You don't have to sleep on the couch.."
"It's okay, I don't mind."
"Stop always saying 'it's okay'," she groaned, getting frustrated, "You already did enough. I'd feel bad if I also kicked you out of your own bed."
"You aren't and it's fine," he grinned and closed his eyes again. Pretending having fallen asleep.
And she gave him a dead glare. "Seriously? I know you're not that fast asleep," she snorted, nudging his arm. He grabbed her wrist, preventing her from nudging him again and opened his eyes again. "Just go to bed already." His eyes were firm yet gentle. Making her breath hitch.
She pursed her lips then. "Fine. Thank you."
"Soyeon?"
"Hm."
"Stop always saying 'thank you'," he smiled and let go of her wrist. Closing his eyes once again. He expected to hear her complaining or finally walking out. He didn't expect, however, her slightly chapped lips to leave a peck on his cheek.
By the time his eyes fluttered open, she had already walked away, switching off the lights.
"Goodnight, Yoongi."
He breathed, staring at the dark ceiling above him.
"Goodnight, Soyeon."

Hello again! hope your well! So I think I get the premise of this but correct me if I’m wrong so In your comic sunstar doesn’t technically exist therefore if he were to develop a soul like the other stardroids it would be a whole other issue of “being that never existed develops an existence?”(or something similar? I’m not sure sorry ;-;) and figuring that whole situation out (I’m guessing the stardroids have to do that [like babysitting? Kind off??? I dunno]
And in “escape the temple” Sunstar being freed and becoming complacent with his status as a god has the stardroids(terra in particular) having to keep him out of trouble especially with the traps made for the sungod lines. It honestly makes me think of like those child leashes except Sungod size ( that made me laugh a little with sunstar just wondering off and whoever’s holding the leash getting dragged along{however unlikely that he would let himself be made to wear that I just thought it was funny}). I’ll be completely honest with you I live reading oc info pages and seeing art and stories/ storylines for them just gets me excited! I tell you I read through your entire oc list before I got to the comics cause I just love reading them helps get the brain cells moving for ideas lol. Especially cause of how interesting and well written they were! Just really gets me engaged and interested in the stories :) honestly thank you for answering my asks ;o; especially cause your not as active on here as on twitter and this is my only way of really asking ;-;. I hope you’re doing well and I hope you have a good rest of your day/night! Thank you!
Hey there! Since these are getting long and a little specific, I’ll put it behind a cut, though I may opt to shift these to private answers if they start getting too spoily or personal.
---
The Stardroid comic is a “years later” followup on Gigamix, so I’m somewhat beholden to what Ariga-sensei has revealed, whether it be on TwiX or in lore-dumps like the Maniax books. Thankfully, he’s also VERY much a proponent of fans coming up with their own stories and headcanons (as mentioned when asked about hairstyles; since fans will frequently take his opinions and designs over the canon ones even when he’s not working in an officially-moderated capacity, and he doesn’t want to cause a rift with Capcom’s control over their own franchise and his own chances to work with them in the future).
That said, there isn’t MUCH 'canon' information on the Gigamix Stardroids, even in Maniax, with the bulk of it being focused on Terra and Mercury... but out of my own preferences, I’d still like to keep what’s available intact, and build off that, even if I end up building a LOT. In Sunstar’s case, he’s not even a robot, just a conglomerate of destructive energy and negative emotion. So trying to work with that and give HIM closure was rough. First, he needs a body and a soul...
Once he gets those, it's a bit rough on the Stardroids, too, but at the end of the day gets resolved by them (and a critical third party) realizing that what they understood of him was incomplete, and trying to figure out how to fix that...
---
Escape the Old Temple, in contrast, is technically built off the games (since it’s designed to be a game, itself), but presents a branch where Sunstar didn’t actually die at the end of World 5/V, merely faking his death and then masking the presence of himself and the other Stardroids (also miraculously surviving) so that they could rebuild at the edge of the solar system without further human intervention. The only reason Rock was able to defeat him in the first place was because he had just awoken from a who-knows-how-long slumber, and was essentially still booting up. Once at full power, he’s beyond pretty much anything human technology could throw at him in their current state.
He simply steps in when a ‘relic’ of the Stardroid’s ancient past (in the form of Antares’ trap-filled temple/tomb) shows up. On one hand, if Antares is still active, it could pose a threat to Earth. On the other, if someone like Wily decides to meddle, he could gain access to technology that could negatively impact what chances Earth has at a continued ‘peaceful’ existence. Rock proved that peace was possible, and Sunstar wants to do his part; whether or not the other Stardroids agree is another issue entirely, but their own stability is also threatened by the temple’s presence, so they might as well be the first line of defense (plus, they’d know what to do with the technology they loot, unlike some wacky mad human scientist).
Sun isn’t so much running off on his own, but when the others fail to return from scouting the temple, he and Terra dispatch themselves to get them back and end the threat personally. Sun’s approach to it is just... a little more haphazard and forceful (and frustrating for Terra). It’s less of a child-leash issue... but I will be honest, the mental image of that is hilarious and pretty much on-point. It’s definitely how Terra feels at times!
---
And thank you so much for the kind words on the OCs-! But it... doesn’t really change my feeling on the verge of giving up (likely temporary, but no less debilitating)...
Mental Health Dump ahead, feel free to skip, but it’s the gist of things as they stand:
My biggest success with the [REDACTED] fandom pretty much set me up for unfair expectations on engagement, and ever since the thing that made me fall out of that fandom (which involved getting into official development, only to have my soul crushed and disregarded and left to rot under an NDA until it was too late to salvage my emotional state, causing me to lose many friends and all of my self-worth), I’ve suffered from intense RSD. That - plus a constant stream of working myself to burn-out for little to no engagement - has made me more or less a wreck, who can’t maintain reasonable creative function without sufficient external positive reinforcement to keep up my energy. However, because of my past expectations and relative success when it comes to OC engagement, the threshold for what’s considered ‘sufficient’ reinforcement is a lot higher than most people, and not reaching it causes me to sink lower and lower each time I ‘fail’.
Couple that with my bad track record for being stuck in jobs I hate IRL, and you’ve got a recipe for frequent meltdowns.
I know I should be getting help/therapy for this, but attempts to do so have ranged from getting simply brushed aside put on meds that make matters worse, to literally being told by a mental health screener that there’s nothing wrong with me and that my ‘problems’ are all because I’m a woman and my hormones are making me miserable (I’m not joking).
I was able to get decent headway into the Mega Man fandom as an escape born of trying to return to my roots, but I also had, at the time, just gotten a job I actually loved, and seemed stable and fulfilling and it gave me life and energy and enough free time to actually dedicate to larger projects (like the comic).
...And then the boss of that job started loading most of his management work on me (while keeping my title as 'sales associate' so the experience wouldn't reflect for future job hunting/unemployment), before betraying me and throwing the company away to pursue gambling and crypto (presumably, due to his suspicious lack of communication when asked for details), which landed me back in Corporate Retail Hell, which is where I currently reside, living alone amidst rapidly increasing rent, utilities, and general cost of living.
I am once again reliant on engagement... engagement I’m just not getting because the Tumblr environment has changed since the [REDACTED] days to dissuade comments/replies/asks, and the TwiX environment has changed to be so painfully algorithm-dependent that I can barely get scraps.
To be honest, I’m not ‘more active’ on TwiX anymore... and if anything, I’m on my way out there, too, due to the way Stinky ruined everything and made the environment hostile and unstable. But I can’t shift my weight fully to Tumblr, either, because I don’t trust it to not eventually fall into the [REDACTED] trap of people only approaching me hoping I’ll be their friend so that they can get free art out of me (and a few people have already thrown up the red flags of that behavior, making me even more on-guard).
I also get the feeling that this is a community that prioritizes giving the time of day to people actively mingling with all the other creators; I can’t get away with what I did at the height of my drive, where I’d create characters and people would stop by and enjoy them with me. What little energy I have either goes to creating, or to maintenance, and unless I’ve got a reasonable stream of incoming energy to spend, I can’t feasibly mingle the way people seem to expect. It’s too big a space to spread myself so thin.
When I started my comic, I lived in a hole under a rock. The world I knew was small, and a small amount of engagement was enough. Then I stepped out from that safety and into the fandom and saw how large and expansive it really is, and how insignificant I am, and how effortlessly other people doing similar things to me can get all the validation in the world from 5-minute white-background line doodles of their own OCs, while I struggle to get full pieces recognized... and I’ve more or less become overwhelmed by a combination of fandom agoraphobia and personal futility.
If I can make something that looks okay in one go with minimal frustration, I might post it... but seeing how little that gets me unless it involves "popular fav" canon characters means that if I hit any snags in a larger project with original components, ANY frustration at all, I’m more likely to simply stop, out of fear that the energy spent to leap the hurdles won’t be recouped by the final product.
That's why the one Ask still sitting in the Remes box hasn't been answered; I wanted to precede answering it with a larger story (albeit an unrelated one, but I wanted to get that story into people's heads going forward), but hitting snags in that story and realizing I'd most likely post it and get 6 notes total made me just... not feel like it'd be worth it.
I thank you for your kind words, I truly do... but right now I am just one failure too far over the line to be anything more than an eyesore and a liability until I recoup...
