the master is who he thinks about when there’s a chance he may die and the master is who he thinks about when he survives.

Thinking of a serious twelve, one who hasn't felt laughter or happiness since everything that happened on Gallifrey. Not Clara, no one to accompany him and make him feel safe, just wandering around doing what the doctor always does: helping people no matter what. He is sad, confused, he simply lives with a gap in his mind, an important face that is no longer there. He has a hole in his chest, one too big to forget and ignore.

Thinking about a twelve that the first laugh he had in a long time was created by his own wife. Seeing her again gave him back the joy he lost a while ago. How that laugh is so carefree, how that smile is so big and silly, showing how much he missed those special little moments. How the stupidest things like Hydroflax's head in a bag threatening them were the funniest thing in the world. How being back at his wife's side gave him back the joy he had lost so much. How, for just a moment, that hole was full again.

rotating the pub scene from 73 yards in my mind i think there is so much being said there about wales and welsh/english tension that is so interesting and is going so under discussed

#blahs #dw #dw spoilers #the whole thing about castles in wales being english torture centres. much to unpack #i think it's easy for most viewers to watch it and see that the characters are taking the piss and write it off #but what's interesting about it is i think rtd is basing that on real exaggerations of oppression by welsh people #most castles in wales WERE built by the english and they WERE designed to oppress the welsh. except that was like 800 years ago #and some people use this as an example of welsh oppression /now/ when it's like. not relevant to modern wales really #and 'torture chambers' is a wild exaggeration that dangerously tries to compare wales to much more recent human rights violations #i think rtd is trying to caution against a romanticised or sensationalised narrative of old wales that certain welsh nationalists have #this is also what he's doing with roger ap gwilliam #i keep seeing people say his character is 'just nukes' and i'm not gonna pretend it's The most complex politics ever #but it's also not just nukes. it's about specific political tensions and attitudes in wales.#rtd's viewpoint reminds me a lot of my dad #my dad's a proud welshman he's a native speaker he grew up in a welsh speaking community #but he doesn't really care about old welsh history about llewelyn ap gruffydd or owain glyndwr or anything like that #he doesn't see it as relevant. to him what's important is modern wales and the tensions of the 20th century #i'd wager rtd probably feels the same #and what with doctor who being produced in wales being rtd's doing i think he's enthusiastic about collaborating with england #rather than being like. isolationist about it. catch me laughing in the club awkwardly because this season has a 19 year old blonde female companion from London, a space travelling left of law brunette queer boy who flirts heavily with the doctor, absolutely zero writers of colour and no mention of sensitivity readers…….and next season the new companion is a woman of colour. uh oh!

#he’s not stupid enough to do Martha again but be REAL with me. do you think this man can handle writing for a brown woman and a black man #and make it in any way genuinely tasteful. the one race he’s punched down and the other he’s basically ignored during his tenure :/#rtd seems to think because he has the lived experience of the great struggles of being queer in the 80s and onwards #which was a serious struggle and came with its issues #that he understands being a person of colour? like he wrote an episode about racism and then laughed about not needing a sensitivity reader #before he handed it off to ncuti. but it needed one because it was a stupid episode because he’s white and moreover #seems to think he understands WITHOUT actually getting any of the nuance. which makes it worse.#im just concerned to put it lightly #like chibnall’s bad habit was ‘good episode followed by a bad episode so bad you forget the good episode even existed’#but at least he got writers of colour in to make some of those episodes! he actually cared! and also fumbled real bad (nazi uniform… ://)#still. he actually gave it a pretty good shot and opened some doors behind the scenes. like the writer’s room which is just as important #and also in the scenes tbf like yaz and ryan sharing scenes as poc companions during the same run was groundbreaking #and rtd just closed them again going actually no im doctor who’s most specialist boy and we should do my run all over again #stop this man. get someone new in. he is not much better than chibnall rn like he is not batting hits #stop letting the world’s most charismatic doctor (ncuti i will get rid of regeneration to keep you. i love you. wish you had better writing)#distract you from the fact RTD is doing a ‘biggest hits’ tour rn. stop him!!!!!!! please can we have a showrunner of colour! a woman! please #rtd critical #doctor who #dw

I’ll emphasize.#in terms of the societal parts of Amore the kingdom kinda flourishes in the arts of all sorts and trade within the kingdom it goes crazay…#they were pretty closed off from the rest of the galaxy though. like their tech and stuff is pretty outdated compared to most of the other-#planets with atleast escape ships and all that fun stuff.#foreshadowing #ANYHOW lovebugs are silly guys I think of them as like weird hedonistic freaks of sorts #they have very big dionysus worshipping energy to them just to give a perspective #and of course they prioritized relationships and the different forms of love #romance actually wasn’t even the big thing that built the kingdom #it was more like a love for community and friends #which is also kinda silly because of the monarchy aspect to Amore and all that #OH ALSO these guys go absolutely crazy with fashion and makeup. gender isn’t a major thing in the kingdom in my eyes #you WILL serve cunt!! /silly #WORLDBUILDING ASIDEEE Val was the prince to the kingdom and was set to be the heir to the throne #the designs are like three different route ideas ive had for Val #the first is just a baseline design so like. pre amore‘s destruction from dominator #the second is like a good ending design of sorts to my ideal lineup for a season three for woy with val continuing to embrace the lovebugs-#history and culture even with Amore gone and a good portion of her people #and the third. is a bit hard to describe because it’s more of an au but it’s just a concept idea I had of Val teaming up with Dom #(it would be short lived like probably a few months max so dw)#and silly note i joked about the idea of val being an ex to peepers BUT I WANNA DEVELOP THAT MORE BEFORE I SHARE.#tap into that this may be cringe but i am free mindset or something slash silly TEEHEE #BUT YEAH Val’s just a silly gal in my heart and soul no matter what. ive missed her a lot i wanna work on fics with him and especially to-#develop more stuff for Amore and the Lovebugs before Dominator’s destruction of the planet #BUT YEAH i wanna Val post more. go into depth for their dynamic with the other characters and all that #I may cook some more stuff with him once I get these stargazing fics all set and whatnot SO WE’LL SEE!#also /nf but if anyone would wanna ask questions about val/amore/lovebugs ask away I’d love to answer any questions! 🥺

I will get to it somehow hell or high water o7 #T-E purrs!! they can do that!! it's part of their genetic alterations and I want to play with that too as well as the horrors!!#now don't get me wrong either The Horrors are one of my fav things to write but it's chiaroscuro y'know you need the contrast #it can't be a fight for personal autonomy all the time sometimes it needs to be T-E's huge kitty eyes or Helios being a dork #all this might be unnecessary I just get a little self conscious sometimes about how full-grit my writing can be wehh #holding my creatures in my hands. they are capable of such a beautiful joy. it's actually vital that they are #since I'm rambling anyways: huge part of what I want to do with T-E's pre campaign rp is start pulling them out of their shell #they start the planned game still stuck on their rules but it's talking to people that's gonna put them in a place where like #they know there's something else out there. they want it. they feel so much guilt for wanting it but it's the WANTING that's important!!#helios can't do that on his own because he doesn't know either. neither of them know jack about what exists beyond their narrow purview #making a HA clone to me is in part an examination of how miitary as industry will always result in steadily increasing dehumanisation #it's the commodification of a human body to ever increasing heights. soldiers to products to nothing but parts to be scrapped #military as an endless churn less for the sake of any kind of protection and more for the sake of resources. capital. money #it's part of what makes HA so fascinating to me y'know? the way it takes that concept to a far flung conclusion. how bad can it get #the other part is playing someone realising for the first time it's possible to break from what's expected of them #the wonder. the guilt. the disbelief. all of it carefully hidden. it's a huge part of what's so compelling about writing them to me #three huge cornerstones of T-E are: masking - military - the horror of having to exist in a body.#that last one is my taking the weird sensory relationship I have to Flesh/mind and doing horror with it dw too much about that njbkhjv #okay okay I think I'm done this got a little out of hand I'm just like #there's so MUCH about thirteen/T-E that makes me insane. alas I'm tired and it takes me like 4 hours to write a simple post sobs #anywaysss that's my ramble. #in VERY different ways because jack thinks of him like that because ‘thats the man he was when i first fell in love with him’#meanwhile even is like. that’s who he was when i was in charge of cutting him open and putting him back together when he was hurt and he did #the same to me.#Even spends a great deal of time around missy and an not insubstantial amount around spy. but you must understand. their master is the guy #who ate some of their organs and replaced them with new ones. who put so much of his own regeneration energy into them that they became a #little less them and a little more him. and who became so used to having them around to rely on that he’d have done that in the first place.#still have a weird relationship with the master in their next few regens but they had it weird with him first lmao #dw oc #also very funny because i refer to him as saxon here but im going to be completely real with u guys. i don’t think Even knows what a prime #minister is or that he ever was one. or if they do it’s because he bragged about it and because they don’t know what it is they just went #huh. okay then. guess that’s another one of his special little titles.#politics extremely low on what is important to Even to learn.
