I was tagged by @thewriteflame and my words were: improve, judge, keep, and lied (funnily enough, these snippets all come from around the same time in the book, so they're sorta interconnected. Also, they're not in order. (the actual chronological order would be keep, improve, judge, and then lied)) and, me being be, the snippets are all stupid long lol

Solera stayed next to me as I trudged through the orchard, returned to the path, and started back toward the bluff. Dread pooled in my heart, and it sank further with every step. By the time we reached the top of the cliff, I slowed, my steps dragging until I kneeled in the grass, tears wetting my cheeks.   She would be fine. She would get better.  There was already so much improvement in the few hours we spent with her.  Right? With Kolette looking after her, there was no way she would deteriorate like that again.  I covered my eyes with a shaking hand, the vision of her curled up etched in my mind. In such obvious pain. So frail, too. Like the slightest breeze would have carried her away.  A choked sob escaped, and I quickly covered my mouth, but it was too late. Solera had already noticed, and she was beside me again, arms around me, the sound of her voice soothing, even if I couldn’t focus on the words.

He let out a long, clearly impatient sigh as I wrapped it around his waist and came around the front to tie it off in a limp bow. He reached up to preen his wavy hair into place as I returned to the wardrobe to grab a pair of his sandals. When I turned back, he was sitting on the edge of his bed, foot extended expectantly. So I knelt before him, slipping the first sandal on before weaving the straps around his calf.  “We’ll head straight to the inner courtyard. I have quite a few criminals to judge today,” he said in a droll voice. He stood just as I finished tying off his second sandal, and I stuck close to him as he returned, inspecting himself in the mirror. He leaned closer, smoothing the mustache of his gray-peppered beard, then turned away, heading for the innermost door.  I followed two steps behind, closing the door to his chambers behind us before quickening my steps to catch up to him.

Water sloshed in the kitchen and I glanced to the door, the rim of my vision obstructed with forming tears. If I had to guess, Solera was making tea. Quickly too, from the sounds of it. I closed my eyes and pressed my head against Ma’s, any other possible solution nonexistent in my mind. The kettle whistled, my eyes flying open. She poured something, her footsteps approached and when she appeared in the doorway, she carried a large mug.  “I made some tvinsta,” she said softly, glancing between us, her gaze settling on Ma. “Do you think you’ll be able to keep this all down?” When Ma nodded, she set it aside. “You have such a nice selection of potions, I was able to combine a few that I think will help you feel better.” She sounded so calm, so soothing. I could almost allow myself to relax. Just a little. She looked up at me, her warm gaze capturing my attention. “We should probably try to clean up a bit.” She was right, of course. I helped Ma into a new change of clothes and she took her tvinsta tea out into the living room and arranged the cushions for her to be comfortable while we cleaned the house. Ma murmured pained apologies as we bustled around, but we were quick to shush her and remind her to keep drinking her tea. She only retched once, but Solera already had a bucket sitting beside her so it didn’t get everywhere.  My hands shook as I tipped the sick over the wall, tears springing to my eyes again. Did no one here care about her? Were they too caught up in their families and livelihoods to pay a now-childless widow any mind? I sloshed a bit of well water into the bucket, swishing it around, cleaning the vomit from the sides and bottom of the bucket before I dumped it out again. Should I even go back to Katania, now that I knew she’s sick?  Laughter from inside was carried out on the breeze. Ma’s laughter. I grabbed the handle of the bucket and hurried back in to find Solera sitting with Ma, who was now all wrapped up in our biggest, warmest blanket, on the sooty edge of the hearth. Both of them looked up at me, then at each other conspiratorially, Solera breaking into a grin.  “What?” I asked, my gaze darting between the pair of them as I placed the bucket down by Ma.  “Oh, nothing.” Solera, taking the cue from Ma, tried to school her expression. Unsuccessfully.

“There’s been something that I’ve been thinking about all day, and I’ve been meaning to ask you when I had the time.” He glanced at me again before picking up his goblet to take a long sip of his vina. Then, after clearing his throat, he continued, “About your mother.” My brow furrowed slightly, and he nodded, cutting off another bite of chicken. “You implied earlier that you hadn’t heard that she was ill, and yet”—he stuck the piece of chicken in his mouth, watching me as he chewed it with agonizing slowness. He knew…he had to know… “Sosta wrote to me to say that you had fled to Psari to visit and tend to her?” I sat forward, my mouth open to retort, only for him to hold his fork up, waving it back and forth between us. “Don’t speak.”  I bit my tongue, thoughts of Osmari flooding back in my head. Instantly I released it and sank away from him, though my gaze didn’t leave his.  Did Sosta reveal that Solera had been with me? Or did he just want to implement me in this.  “So, you lied to me.” My breaths were coming shorter now. “You saw what happens when someone lies to me today.” I clenched my trembling hands even tighter, my tongue suddenly heavy in my mouth. “I don’t necessarily appreciate being lied to, Thala.”  His attention dropped back to his plate, and he made me sit in perfect silence as he enjoyed several more bites. Until his plate was cleaned. Then he looked up at me, expectantly, and I reached out to grab his plate, cursing my shaking hands as I returned to the side table with the bowl of shaved fruit and a glazed mespoli. He picked up his knife and fork, gesturing with the knife for me to return to my seat.  “Now,” he said as soon as I was settled, “I’m not without mercy. It’s understandable that you would be worried about your mother. It speaks to your devotion to her. However, if it happens again”—he paused, holding my gaze for a few seconds—”I’ll rip your tongue out myself. Is that clear?”  I nodded immediately, eyes widening involuntarily.  He cut off the tip of his mespoli, glancing over at me. “Why are you still sitting?”  I hurried to stand, returning to the welcoming shadows, willing myself to melt into the wall as he finished his dessert.

Oh no I did mean you about your fics! Yes I agree with everything you said and actually yeah now that you mention it Dwayne probably would not love that lol. However I totally believe this movie will continue Moana’s independence in her new mission. I think after the first one I’m just really interested in if Maui meets the villagers on Motonui? Does simea meet him? Do we find more about his upbringing? It only hit me with the first trailer that Moana’s parents weren’t thatttt old but I’ve gotta see how tui reacts to seeing Maui for the first time :) okay rambling over for now. I’ll stick around here (and ao3) to see what becomes of this awesome movie’s fandom that hopefully grows a bunch!

from the interviews and trailers, I wanna say one of the biggest themes in moana 2 is gonna be Community. There's a word in the Japanese trailer specifically- "Nakama" - that grabbed my attention.

Nakama is often translated in anime subs as 'comrades' or 'friends' or even 'teammates'. That's close enough but there's a level of nuance that doesn't quite have a one for one equivalent in English. 'Found family' might be closer. It's very common in sentai shows like power rangers, sailor moon, etc. It implies a level of shared purpose, experience, fondness. The Squad. This is what I think moana's next journey is gonna focus on.

Moana has had the love of her community her whole life, and of course she's always been close to her grandmother, her pets, her mother and even her father-despite their disagreements on voyaging- but in her grow-up montage we don't see her have friends her own age. She's had no siblings to relate to up til this point, and she seems a bit distant from the other children. her obsession with the sea alienates her over time. She delights in the old stories that frighten the other children. While her family weaves baskets, she makes a toy boat. The other kids draw their island, their fales, moana draws a canoe.

She's often breaking out of the group, sneaking off to the sea. its not til puberty, after Tui's 'raise the island speech' does she start feeling getting into the communal activities & musically starts singing along. Then she bonds with her island as their Taupou, their 'closest-English-equivalent-princess'. In Samoan tradition, the Taupou is the highest ranking unmarried (virgin) woman, usually the high chief's daughter and is expected to be the role model for all her peers, surrounded by a retinue of kins-women as chaperones and confidants.

But Moana, if she has one, constantly gives hers the slip to hang out with another social misfit: Tala the village crazy lady. Even when we see Moana doing her princess rounds among the villagers there seems to be a bit of professional distance- we don't get anyone else's name, no inside jokes, playful banter. Its not like anyone is malicious or antagonistic towards her, and their polite smiles do seem genuinely fond- her people cautiously trust her with their problems, gazes torn between her and chief-safety-net Tui, and accept her suggestions gratefully. She teaches dance to the younger children who clearly adore her, but its not quite the same. These are Moana's People, her family-but not really her friends.

and we can tell that by how moana acts with the friends she does have. She and grandma Tala deliberately spend quality time together, they share interests (the sea) and hobbies (dance, storytelling). they joke and splash and lean on each other. They do Hongi (familial forehead touches), they walk arm & arm. They share confidences, in jokes, concerns. She sings her troubles to pua, and he's right by her side when she sneaks aboard the fishing catamarans. he comforts her when her dad yells, listens to her wanderlusting laments, enables her exploits. It takes a near death experience in the lagoon to keep Pua from her side at sea.

Maui is an even better example. Circumstances force them together, its true, but the trials of their quest soon see them bonding. They laugh, they tease, they banter, they share triumphs and tears.

Its certainly not an instant friendship. it starts out downright antagonistic- Moana goes into their meeting making demands of him. She uses her Chief Voice. She addresses him by formal titles, possibly speaking as one Aliki to another, as the wronged party in a dispute. She's trying to borrow an authority she's not fully bought into yet. She may have been born to the role, but that's not really how she identifies herself internally. Maui even calls her on it later.

As Maui navigates them to Tamatoa's lair, post kakamora escape, post tentative world-saving bargain, Moana is impressed by his prowess. Swept up in the moment, she enthusiastically commands Maui; "Teach me how to sail!"

Given how awkward her follow up is, I don't think Moana throws her princess privilege around like that naturally. At home she's always outranked by her parents, and while she perhaps doesn't see as much trouble as she might for sneaking out of communal chores, Tui & Sina are not shy to correct her. It doesn't seem in Moana's usual nature to be so demanding- part of why she had to practice her 'board my boat' speech so hard before she actually met Maui. "Fake it til ya Make it" is still in play here.

but Maui makes it abundantly clear that even if he didn't instantly see through her posturing, the authority she's trying to conjure wouldn't work on him anyway. In our world's mythology, technically Maui is also Ali'i (royal). Not only was he born to a chief, of a line of chiefs, his eldest brother is a chief. Depending what island you ask, he's got several godly blood relatives. In many myths he earns his own chiefdom (despite being the youngest son), and spawns several royal descendants. On Tonga, Samoa, and eventually Hawaii, many if not most Kings claim some Maui-the-island-raiser ancestry. Heck, there's a not 0% chance Maui IS one of Moana's ancestors. (many, many, many, many generations removed. Like if Genghis Khan showed up today and someone from San Francisco tried to slap a child support suit on him. )

but even if they're both technically Ali'i, Maui considers himself well divorced from all that. He's loathe to accept authority of any kind, even from the Gods themselves. A tried and true coping mechanism for any immortal whose already lived several times over normal human lifespan, he distances himself from the humans he helps. They are Mortal, Moana is just some Mortal, royal or not, and he does NOT take orders from them.

"Princess." he says, derisively. Dismissively. In Maui's stories, princesses are passive objects. They get saved, they get given as rewards, often times they get tricked into revealing secret treasure. Even his mother, (in the stories where he's on good terms with her), is mostly there to provide quest objectives. Maui might be a giant pain in the ass to his biological brothers, but at least they get to participate in a feat or two.

Moana at this point may or may not know what a princess is. The cultures that inspired moana's creation had kings and princesses at some points, but Motonui is either not big enough or doesn't subscribe to the whole king-ship deal. Their high chief still picks coconuts with the farmers, weaves baskets, cooks poi. Tui himself doesn't fish because Trauma, but he coordinates with fishermen on the ground- err, beach. The Motunui Ali'i are pretty well grounded. (lol)

but Moana can read tone just fine. Maui is saying "princess' dismissively. He defines it dismissively. On the climb to lalotai he defines it again, "staying home, kissing babies". A ceremonial, figurehead role.

Moana immediately denies being one. She continues to take offense to Maui's attempts to shoehorn her into that definition. She is the Future Chief. She is doing this for her people, dammit, and she's not gonna take the bench on this one. She may still be expecting that Maui is gonna be the one solving the problem, hasn't quite imagined herself taking the lead solo yet. but there's no way she's missing out on either helping out or making sure Maui sticks to their deal. There will be nothing passive about This Princess.

Anyway, I've rambled on too long already, you know most of the rest. Moana comes out of the adventure a hero in her own right, drawing on skills and strengths of her own to win the day. Her empathy, her quick learning, her parkour skills and even their friendship becomes part of Moana's heroic arsenal. She ends the movie on a far more equal footing with the living legend she has befriended. She knows who she is. She knows where she came from, and can see a little ways into where she's going. She's ready for a new chapter.

So here we are at the beginning of Moana 2. Moana has spent 3 years a badass. its looks like her latest trip she did just with pua and hei hei, but the abundance of other boats in the lagoon suggests theres been other more populated trips. She inspires a cultural revolution. She has a fan club. She has a new baby sister to role model for.

and it seems like the one person who might relate to all that has been AWOL. (in the japanese trailers at least, there's notes of 'where has Maui been all this time'? SPOILER: probably kidnapped by matangi).

when Moana gets a divine vision quest to seek out new peoples, at first we see her try to go alone. She doesn't wanna put anyone else into harms way, she says. Its a long way, she says. but her mother insists that Moana doesn't have to do it alone this time. She needs a crew.

and thus, how i come to my conclusion. The next step in moana's journey is expanding her friend circle. Moana knows who she is as an individual. She's had one-on-one best friends (tala, pua, maui, possibly even that new little sister). She's had and lost mentors. She is solid in her family ties, and on a larger scale, the love of Her Island. But she hasn't really had the in-between step. A Small But Dedicated Crew.

I think Moana 2 is about the birth of Captain Moana & the Argonauts

I think 'Squad Goals' is the next part of Maui's journey too. Maui started the franchise a lone wolf and immediately after the heart quest was done he was back on the Lone Wolf track. Which seems to have gotten him in some trouble. In one trailer he argues with mini-maui,

"I don't need Moana to come rescue me!"

....

"-AGAIN."

Dwayne Johnson talked about in an interview that the kind of masculinity he wants to convey thru Maui is how its ok to ask for help. Its ok to rely on other people. You don't have to do everything alone. but of course, that's easier said than done. It'll be a learning curve for everyone involved.

And I think itll be a fun one to watch!

I'm agian under the assumption your looking for the same thing I did with Winnie and Sara? If you guys want like cannon head cannons. Let me know! But for now I like that format of just comparison.

so. Damiens not my favorite guy. I have said some maybe regrettable things about him in fits if anger because I struggle with writing him. But there are a few au's, not many unfortunately, where I don't mind him as much. This list will likely be shorter than the other two.

to learn from the tragedies : he's gonna show up at some point. Haven't decided if it's in book one or two yet. But the vision here right? Oliver has like, imprints of memories. Damien doesn't have any memories of the previous timeline. Lewis and the Twins no everything. Oliver starts gushing about this guy he saw and they immediately know who it is and encourages Oliver to go reach out to him. Mean while Oliver is like, "what the hell all I did was see him in the store I don't even know his name! How am I supposed to contact him!? How do you all know who is!??"

"Not many people have a singular purple eye, dude."

Shattered Dreams: I mean he had some cool moments. But wasn't really thought out like at all. I thought giving him a prosthetic arm was cool! I don't know why I did but I did that. This fic was written before season two and so a lot of Damiens character had yet to be explained so I took him in my own very poor direction and had no idea what u was doing with him the entire time.

I will make them create my world: ooooo this ones fun. How do I explain this with out spoilers. He's a very background character in the twins centered chapter. But I've tossed around the idea of making him more prominent as a sort of antagonist? But I'm not sure if it would work. I have so so so many ideas for this chapter and I haven't finalized an ending for it but it could be anywhere from Damien and Oliver getting married happily with nothing wrong and them being completely ok and the horror focusing more on how the world moves on and is completely fine in your absence. Or we could mess everything up and have them die or twisted into toys in the horror of another world taking over and contortioning your loved ones into freaks of nature with out you being able to stop it. Either way Damiens safety is entirely dependent on which brand of eldritch existential horror I feel like giving the twins that day.

This happens in a lot of my fics actually-

Buried masks: ok. This is going to be hard to hear for some people. Damien. Never gets taken my Sara. She actually hates him. She goes out of her way not to interact or associate with him. The only time she acknowledges his existence is if Oliver is talking about him or like hes unavoidably right in front of her. She's crazy buts she's not a jerk. Anyway she hates him because he stepped in and took her job as Oliver's support system. She doesn't like sharing. She has this whole concept with saving people and wanting to be their angel and their light and their support. To the point she will force people into a position to rely on her so she can feel like she's helping them. When her best friend turns to someone else for that help? She is not happy about it. She traits with the same way, but needs him to help keep lewis under her control.

Oliver, as much as she loves him and hates that Damien also cares for him. Still feels confident that he would turn to her first. And thats all she needs. To be his savior.

So she doesn't drag him into it. He and Damien actually get to go out and enjoy the rest of their lives together. As long as Oliver keeps looking to Sara for guidance he won't be affected. She can help him with out all the added psychological torture!

That is unless. In the same vein wiatt is dragged down to control lewis.....she needs his help in calming and swaying over some....other members.

This was supposed to be about Damien. uh oh. Can you tell I like this au a lot?

On a less cryptic lore heavy note. Yeah Damien is our main outside the basement perspective. He's running all the cases trying to find the evidence and he actually does solve something that saves a lot of people!!! He followed all the clues and cracked open a terrible terrible story. But the victims in that story weren't his friends.

Steven universe au: I kind of made a post earlier explaining all of his lore today. But! If your looking for more I'd very happy send you over to Danger/Theater who loves Su!Damien very very much and could probably come up with some more head cannons or content for you.

Superhero au: where to fucking start. He was speficly designed to be the main character of this au. It was supposed to center around him.

And then they're were other opportunities involving human experimentation and angst and twins and like- come on those are my favorite tropes I had to indulge a little bit!..... Although maybe I did just actually completely switch the angle of the spot light-

STILL!!!! if consider him the core of the au. Maybe not the main character at times but everything comes back and ties back to his actions. He sort of has a lot of control over everything and so when he makes a decision the entire plot shifts with that. Even when not in focus when he decides he's going to start bothering Error on patrols that caused a whole chain of reactions that lead to Errors eventual spiral and breakdown and him finding out all the shit that's been happening and it's Ghost that comes back and takes him out of it.

And all that yapping barely actually talks about his character ok- so. I want to see HLTBM!Sara and Superhero! Damien get in a moral debate with one amoy. Cause they stand for a lot of the same things. Character was out through something very very traumatic and that manifested in ways that hurt a lot of people with out them really wanting it to. But of course there's the gray area with Sara knowing full well shocking and kidnapping people isnt very nice. And Ghost being just a straight up serial killer, homicidal, villain for the first half of the fic. Unlike Sara though Damien does get improvement. Although I personally won't call it redemption on my own morals. But he stops killing people pretty quickly once Oliver brings it up.

L to Hayden west who got in Damiens way before Oliver could bring that up.

But yeah superhero au Damien is very special to me. He's the only version of Damien i don't Loath writing, in fact I look forward to it! He's so fun!!!

this was still all very vague but I've said do much- shoot me another ask if you want more about just him because I could write essays on that man.

One shots/you will live until I die: die die die die die die . I'm sure Danger has screen shots some where of the things I've said about this man. Do you know? Do you know how fast I could have gotten any of these types of fics done. If I wrote him out?! Do you know how many times I had to go through and re-write singular lines for him!? Have I beef with this fictional character you can't even comprehend.

Buttttttttt in the end. I guess he turned out....... Ok-ish? i still want to light every scene with him in it on fire but it's not because of how he's written. UTS BECAUSE IF HIW LONG IT TOOK TO WRITE-

deep breaths. I really hope you enjoy them because when I say I dedicated an entire week to a single scene with him in it. I'm not kidding. It killed me.

For the most part I do what I always do with those fics and stick to cannon, which was the mistake, I only like Damien when he's evil and deranged. Cannon Damien does not match my writings level of freak.

maze au: he doesn't get to be cool. Sorry. Your man gets to be a sleep deprived, paid, stalker of Oliver while he's in the maze. Damien works for the maze and helps give reports on his assigned constant, Oliver! Who's actually really endearing and kind of cute .

Thinking about having him a vaguely similar role to ash and me like THE watcher, the clearing has to keep dealing with. Norman is already a Plant but like Starr doesn't actually trust him. So yeah Damien is the wall man. People just see him around on the walls and pretend that they didn't!

Maybe he'll come down and say hello today! Probably not.

The more I think about it I want to make him a half demon to. But not like full half demon. Like he has shaper nails and teeth and is scary good at seeing in the dark and can hear any whisper. But has absolutely no strength or speed or physical traits. He's a loser.

Oc au: umghhhhhfrgcadg so i play Damien. And I do really really bad at it. Cause I try to follow cannon and we've addressed that issue. Currently he's dealing with a ton of survivors guilt because he and Oliver were the only ones to make it out of the facility collapse alive. Both the kids he brought with him died, both to his own advice.

He told Shroud to stay put. And he told hunter to run. Not great for either of them.

There was a point he beat the shit out of Sara! That was fun! Their.....siblings in this au? Or at least very heavily implied that they are. And so they just started scraping.

Poor Vianca though. God if I was better at playing him maybe they could have had a cool sibling dynamic. But alas it just came of as very very awkward because for most of her lore I was playing her, Sara and damien, who all would have been siblings but I did it so bad at yeah- there are some reasons why this au is called the secret au. It's the silly one where I don't think about it like a writer just a Creator and im not supposed to care how pretty the final result is if I had fun. And I did have fun! But when it comes to Damien things just get messy.

That’s interesting! Perhaps it’s meant to symbolize his naivety, and general, childish attitude i suppose, with lack of a better word—what with children often believing in unicorns, a false hope irl. His full hope and faith in Zubeia and the ability to heal old wounds when everyone else is skeptical. His empathetic & forgiving & giving nature.

Unicorns also symbolize purity, and gentle, kind animals, which ezran both is and sees other creatures as often—or at least at first. ie, him saying he learned he can’t trust racoons., and well… the antagonists.

Additionally, unicorns are star arcanum creatures and we’re supposed to see/get a lot more information on the stars next season. Maybe Callum will bring another unicorn trinket back from the starscraper as a gift to ezran lol (such an absurdly normal, beautifully mundane thing to do amongst what terrible events i fear may occur next season, let us have this <3)

We also know leola had a last wish as a startouch elf child, and leola was a unicorn, and that unicorn horns grant wishes. again, symbolism of hope, purity and childishness, all that Ezran represents. And Ezran is a child with great wishes too…hopefully that doesn’t foreshadow anything too terrible.

It’s interesting because unicorns were also the ones to gift primal magic to humanity, they took pity on humanity and believed in it whilst startouch elves/other elves did not. It reminds me of how Callum’s the first human mage in centuries. They (Callum, and the unicorn pin, and Ezran by proxy) both represent the hope of how humanity can thrive without needing dark magic.

In many ways, Ezran is like a unicorn. and i would love to see him get to meet one <3

oh also…. Claudia capturing/dehorning a unicorn, and…

LOVE: - "Simon is one of those characters that is so nuanced you just KNOW the fandom is going to mischaracterize him to hell and back in both directions. (SPOILER ALERT: They did, because of course they did.) He does some really genuinely terrible stuff in the show, but he is also severely traumatized and his story was intended by the creators to be a tragedy. And a lot of people refuse to acknowledge both of those things at the same time. [ head in hands. ] I have a thing about tragic antagonists so, I like him personally. But also!! The show he's a part of is extremely well made, /especially/ the season he's most prominent in. Without going into too much detail to avoid spoiling anymore than necessary to make my point, season three of Infinity Train tells the story of two people who start out at the same place. One is able to change and do better, but the other willingly stays in denial and continues to double down and spiral downward. It's /extremely/ well done and incredibly painful in the best way possible. But (a lot of, not all) the fandom opinions on both of these characters are painful in the /worst/ way possible. So!!! Hopefully I've made a pretty strong argument for him here, Lol." - "He Should Have Lived"

hope this isnt weird but i've been having fun reading your eakwynn takes and i've become very interested in your vision for them !! so i also wanted to ask (if you haven't been asked this before): how are they when it comes to physical intimacy? what about verbal intimacy? which one does each of them prefer? (it can be something else that's not physical or verbal too)

Never feel bad for giving me more excuses to ramble about eakwynn. Getting asked about them is like opening Christmas presents to me!

Anyway- they're both very physical people. Eak cannot go one episode without pulling Towntrap around, and Owynn canonically both hugs Springtrap and fantasizes about hugging Fox, two guys he just met. Once they get comfortable with each other there is never a moment when they're not touching in some way. Not necessarily in the "making out literally everywhere" type of touching some teen couples have, but rather in a subtle way- like they're always holding hands or locking arms or leaning against each other in some way, but they save the more affectionate stuff like hugging or kissing for when they're alone. But yeah they very much prefer this one.

Verbal intimacy is more... Complicated. Since their relationship started out being antagonistic, they're both initially unwilling to open up to each other too much. Trying to get Owynn to talk about his feelings is already like pulling teeth without the whole messiness that came before their relationship, and Owynn's unwillingness to be honest with him made Eak respond in kind, which meant they were pretty stuck for a while. They kind of relied a lot on non verbal communication early on, because giving someone a gift or a hug in place of an apology was much easier for Owynn than actually saying the words "I'm sorry" out loud, but that can only get them so far, you know?

I think the main issue would be that there's an imbalance in how they see verbal intimacy: Owynn has been so closed off from everyone that to him, he's actually being too open with Eak! He's told Eak things about himself he's never told anyone else ever!! Meanwhile, Eak has two best friends that know basically everything about his life, so he notices really easily how often Owynn will want to avoid certain subjects, or evade difficult conversations, or bottle up his feelings- and it kind of pisses him off that Owynn is so insistent on pursuing him but still keeps him at arms length. It's very much like, dude, if you're so afraid of being vulnerable around me why are you even dating me!!!

It's kind of why I've always imagined eakwynn as the sort of ship where they break up and then later get back together, or they only last if they start dating later on rather than during the show or directly after it- I think Owynn is the type of guy who needs some time to mature and grow by himself before he can be a good partner. Get a job, experience more in life, make some friends hopefully. Eak is a patient guy, but he's not trusting enough to lower his defenses if he thinks Owynn isn't going to do the same for him, and he doesn't have enough emotional intelligence to make up for Owynn's utter lack of one. So better for him to wait until Owynn is at least somewhat capable of communicating to work on things lol. But they do work on things eventually!

But uhhhh yeah they're very good on the physical side, very not good on the verbal side 👍🏻

All of the creativity is amazing. I'm a whore for lore and world building, and the worlds that y'all come up with are immaculate. I could only hope to think of a world that vast and interesting.

Please ddon't take me seriously. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but I'm not just a clown, I'm the entire circus. The day you take me too seriously (especially as an author) is the death of my whimsy.

Which Works-in-Progress (WIPs) or writing projects are you noodling about, lately?

Bloody Hands are Kind and None of Us Heroes are always floating around. They're never not beating my ass with ideas and scenes.

How long have you been working on them?

I've been working of the series component of Bloody Hands are Kind since February, and None of Us Heroes for about 1 and a half months.

Do you remember what inspired them/what got you started?

None of Us Heroes started from the Honkai Star Rail brainworms known as Adventurine and Dr Ratio. Their designs and story inspired the two main characters of None of Us Heroes. The series component of Bloody Hands are Kind was basically me shoving a long-standing OC of mine into the Hunger Games universe and praying it would work.

How much time, in your best estimation, do you spend thinking about them?

At least a few hours a day, usually when I'm laying in bed trying to fall asleep. My array of illnesses make falling asleep hard and I find that thinking about my stories makes it easier to forget that I'm not asleep (and therefore hopefully fall asleep).

When someone asks the dreaded, “What do you write about,” question, what do you usually say?

"Whatever the voices command."

What do you want to say (if it’s different from what you do say)?

Meh I say that because I find it funny so idk if I'd change it.

I mostly follow people if I think their cool or if I find myself consistently liking their posts as they come across my dash. I don't follow people often tho lol. I only follow abt 20 people I think.

What makes you decide against following?

If their vibes are too negative, if they're super political, if their content doesn't align with something I care about, or if they're super anti something I am. Any combination of those could be the reason I don't follow.

Yes. I think about other people's WIPs and such all of the time. I love stories, what can I say?

There’s a difference between what’s listed from the English and Japanese versions. English did not mention Bison as Commander of Shadaloo, whereas the Japanese account did. I wonder if the English account purposefully switched the Shadaloo Commander part with the Pearly Whites so that they could avoid outrage from Western audiences? Like, I see a lot of complaints about Bison’s SF6 inclusion from the West whereas the audience from Japan tend to be nonchalant about it. But also, people from Japan seem to be fine and okay-ish when it comes to the constant avatar gear stuff, which is quite the opposite from everywhere else lol. But to be fair, people wanted Bison to have a new purpose and not the same old tired one, and they have every right to voice their concerns. I want Bison to be different in this game than from the other installments.

But if Bison were to become the Shadaloo leader again in SF6, I personally don’t think it would undermine JP as the main antagonist. For me, the way Bison is in his unstable state as shown with his arm in his low health win pose, it’s gonna take him a long while to get back to normal.

If you have yet to read this interview, I’ll just screenshot this part here. Vega = M. Bison = Dictator, so you don’t get confused.

According to Nakayama and Matsumoto, Bison might have a nuanced morality in his character in SF6. Like sure, he’s still evil, but not completely. That would be interesting to see. And it makes sense. If he’s completely evil, then how would the avatar become his disciple? It’s the same with other villains and characters with questionable morals like JP, Juri, A.K.I., and Akuma. They gotta have a little bit of a heart in them lol.

And also from the interview, JP will still be the main antagonist of SF6. He is still the mastermind of sinister plans…even if he failed at getting Ed lol. Tbf, he’s a bad guy. Bad guys don’t win no matter how badass they are. And plus, we still don’t know what he did to Falke because the last time we heard about her, she was investigating him. Also, a lot of characters’ arcade rival/boss tend to be JP, and it would probably continue that way if subsequent DLC characters have a Shadaloo-esque story. He’s the main villain doing a lot of things, and…he’s a base roster character. I have yet to see any dlc characters as arcade rivals or bosses, so we’re probably not gonna see Bison as an arcade boss at all. Thus, JP is still the big baddie of SF6.

Those are my thoughts. Looking forward to Bison and to see where to lore goes from there. Hopefully more F.A.N.G World Tour content comes with it too.

If it helps I think another thing they have in common is their relationship to their mother.

Unlike Daphne and Colin, who are close to their mother (in part because they are all that they are supposed to be), and Francesca and Benedict who seem to have neutral positive relationships to their mother, probably by virtue of pursuing pastimes that are very suitable with a bit too much passion. Anthony and Eloise have semi-antagonistic relationships with their mother.

Violet seems to love them both, but is unable to truly connect to them, because they don’t behave in ways that they should (or rather in ways that make sense to her).

Eloise is hyper aware of the ways in which she rebels against society is a disappointment to her mother, and while that upsets her, she cannot bring herself to be a Daphne just to please her mother.

Violet is aware of how much she doesn’t connect to Eloise and how all her attempts to connect make it worse.

All that is left is an awkwardness and a sourness that the love cannot overcome.

Similarly Anthony and Violet have a love filled but deeply antagonistic relationship.

Anthony’s huge trauma is the way in which his mother’s depression left him a single father of seven at nineteen.

So Anthony likely feels a level of resentment towards his mother, justified or not.

Then we get season 1 where Violet is consistently on his case about not being a Lord correctly, and then season 2 where she is consistently trying to encourage (manipulate?) him into a love match because that is what she wants for each of her kids.

On Anthony’s side this won’t have helped his negative relationship with his mother who doesn’t listen to him or respect him in his position.

On Violet’s side Anthony, as a Lord, is not acting and living and marrying how he is supposed upsetting and discomforting her.

A Pick Me and A Not Like Other Girls are two different but similar types of women.

A Pick Me - at least if you use it in it’s terminology and not as a disparagement of any women that doesn’t correctly perform femininity and heterosexuality, is a woman that disparages other women in order to be the chosen woman to men. This can include “Not Like Other Girls” behaviours like disdaining activities and interests that have been designated girls and women’s interests.

A not like other girls is a woman who is proud of the way her interests (pretend or otherwise) are not traditional women’s interests, brags about and disparages other women because of it.

These terms have slipped into terms used to disparage women that don’t perform their femininity and female solidarity in the way that the woman insulting them approves of

(Here is a twisty thought - who is the real girls girl, the woman with ‘masculine’ interests who doesn’t disparage women, or the hyperfeminine woman who disparages other women as Pick Me’s)

Eloise doesn’t disparage women. Eloise loves other women, she just resents the fact society places such horrific limits on them and their interests until the only thing women talk about is men and marriage

At his best he's harmless and pathetic. But the dude still is pretty pro-doing-terrible-things, even if its not to Scott and Ramona in specific. Could he improve? Sure! But I'm of the belief that anyone can. It sucks that he wasn't treated nicely as a teenager but like. Dude, get help. You clearly can afford it. You just don't want it/don't think you need it.

Gideon actively chose to become the CEO of G-man records and he chose to use his vast power to make a girls life a living hell purely because he felt ENTITLED to her and her love. That's fucked up!!!! Hes' a sick shit in all versions and I truly do love him for that. He and Julie really are bitch x bastard! <3

Fern and Spot both are interesting ones, as they're both cases of "they made their own choices", only, the Finn part of Fern was doing something good (reviving Prismo), he just didn't know that meant he'd become the Finnsword, and the Emissary from Beyond is....Complicated.

Spot, however...

....Look, we can theorize as much as we want about his hypothetical past and what drove him to do it (bc I doubt anybody that works at Alchemax is fully stable), but before all this shit happened to him, he CHOSE to work at Alchemax, which was a morally dubious decision at BEST. I don't think he had bad intention in the slightest however, it's just that Spot....Seems to have a bad habit of not really caring about anything else that's going on around him as long as he's getting what he wants. Negligent is the word (Funny, considering that's what he accuses Spider-Man of being). Also nobody made him go back for the dark matter, and he could have evacuated like everybody else*

Either way, both Fern and Spots actions definitely come from a place of desperation and severe emotional distress. And they're both guys that really lost their entire lives due to something out of their control**, and just weere driven to go....Way too far. They also actively decided to be bad guys because villainy provided them with the validation they needed. Hopefully Spot won't get killed off in the end like Fern did. Haha!

Hordak is definitely what you described though, because we were literally SHOWN that through the existence of Wrong Hordak! He's from a cult and heavily indocrinated with horrible beliefs that he deeply internalized, especially because of his relationship with his disability and the way Horde Prime viewed him for it. This is also seen through Entrapta, who....Yes, helped him do evil thing too. But they were adorable. And ultimately, it was her that helped him realize his worth as a person and take the step towards good (although that was a personhood thing, not a redemption arc, lol). But through proper support, Wrong Hordak was able to grow and develop in a way that Hordak just wasn't given the opportunity to, so....Yeah.

Hordak never got the chance, and Fern kept getting screwed over by the universe and his own low self esteem. But Spot made his own choices in life. He is absolutely the most selfish person out of the three.

And also. Is, yknow, the most experienced in life/an adult. (I already talked about Gideon who is the worst but like I said he doesn't even come close). Yes what happened to him was horrible, yes he didn't deserve so much mistreatment for it, but still. The chain of events started because of his own decisions until it spiralled out of his control, from where he doubled down for a variety of reasons indicating that he really needs the intervention of a trained mental health professional.

I think I went way off course here.

* Yes it's likely that he felt like he had to go back and save the remains of his work, might have something to do with Olivia stealing all the credit for the collider and his desperate need to be recognized. Still a bad idea though.

TROC is still in its infancy at the moment, so unfortunately there isn't much to show off. however, what i CAN show you is very fun! i've been stirring up concepts for the game left and right and now i can confidently say when it's finished, it's gonna be a pretty unique game, or at least it should be. above is a snippet one of the songs for the game, Spooks of a Purple Hue, the default overworld theme, if you're interested first off, huge shoutout to @sproutian for sacrificing itself and offering to do programming assistance for the project! she's been very lovely to work with so far and i'm incredibly excited to have her on. second off, the game has gotten just a bit prettier since last time i showed it off. here's a glimpse at the dialogue system and hud, as well as an enemy design. the first room is fully decorated with finalized tiles, but the room itself will probably go unused lol

also, the dialogue system will probably be remade because it is not very good tbh. but yeah! i'm really happy with how it's coming along so far. the little stained glass cass in the corner will update depending on if you're in a battle or not, so be on the lookout for that. hey, speaking of battles, how are those gonna work? well, i have a couple ideas. while cass can move freely in overworld segments, battles will instead be locked to a grid and will happen live in whatever room it happens to take place in. if you like crude concept art then have i got the image for you!

this secondary image will show off a system that happens in battles, just to make the game a little bit spookier lol. the guy wearing purple (NOT THE PURPLE GUY) is the game's main antagonist. his name is secret but just know he's a pretty nasty dude.

but I am very bummed the show turned out this way

I mean I haven’t watched it since then but there were so many elements I loved

I really loved the world, even if it had plot holes lol (I did not see them at the time tho)

there are still a lot of characters I really like (catra is not one of them tho 💀 like even while I was watching the show and was sort of in the c//a community I didn’t like her…….. she was so unlikable the entire time, but I assumed it was just me bc everyone else seemed to love her…..)

dude i totally get what you mean. i watched it when i was like 18? and i'm still bummed about how they screwed up the series. i think it had a lot of potential, especially around s3-4 when the plot really started to pick up the pace. there were still things wrong with the show at that point too, but i feel like it was salvagable.

i even liked catra as a character. she was a terrible person but she was interesting and i was curious to see how they handle her arc. if i didnt know that c//a was going to be canon going into the show, i would have 100% thought they were setting catra up for a corruption arc. and yeah, a lot of the other characters were really likeable. it just sucks that the show writers thought that c//a was the most important part of the series and it didn't matter if the other character arcs were butchered, so long as this ship becomes canon.

like you said, fantasy + sci-fi is a really good combo! if you want a GOOD show that combines these two genres, i highly recommend infinity train! i know i've mentioned it here before but i'll keep recommending it until it gets the appreciation it deserves (and hopefully gets renewed!) infinity train has amazing characters as well as worldbuilding, although the creators never got to finish the worldbuilding due to the show being cancelled. it also touched on very real and serious topics, and does a much better job of handling these issues. one of the antagonists in the series is much like catra but while he is specifically written to be sympathetic, he does not get redeemed and forgiven the way catra does. overall, just watch the show if you haven't already! it has 4 seasons with different characters in each season, and there are some heavily implied queer characters as well (though they couldn't confirm it because, again, restrictions).
