Taking into consideration the Frodo/Galadriel and One Ring/Sauron parallels in âRings of Powerâ, I think this scene parallels the one in âThe Stairs of Cirith Ungolâ chapter in âThe Two Towersâ book, where Frodo encounters the Witch King of Angmar, again:
The water flowing beneath was silent, and it steamed, but the vapour that rose from it, curling and twisting about the bridge, was deadly cold. Frodo felt his senses reeling and his mind darkening. Then suddenly, as if some force were at work other than his own will, he began to hurry, tottering forward, his groping hands held out, his head lolling from side to side.
[âŠ] a Rider, all black, save that on his hooded head he had a helm like a crown that flickered with a perilous light. Now he was drawing near the bridge below, and Frodo's staring eyes followed him, unable to wink or to withdraw. Surely there was the Lord of the Nine Riders returned to earth to lead his ghastly host to battle? Here, yes here indeed was the haggard king whose cold hand had smitten down the Ring-bearer with his deadly knife. The old wound throbbed with pain and a great chill spread towards Frodo's heart.
Even as these thoughts pierced him with dread and held him bound as with a spell, the Rider halted suddenly, right before the entrance of the bridge, and behind him all the host stood still. There was a pause, a dead silence. Maybe it was the Ring that called to the Wraith-lord, and for a moment he was troubled, sensing some other power within his valley.
This way and that turned the dark head helmed and crowned with fear, sweeping the shadows with its unseen eyes. Frodo waited, like a bird at the approach of a snake, unable to move. And as he waited, he felt, more urgent than ever before, the command that he should put on the Ring.
But great as the pressure was, he felt no inclination now to yield to it. He knew that the Ring would only betray him, and that he had not, even if he put it on, the power to face the Morgul-king not yet. There was no longer any answer to that command in his own will, dismayed by terror though it was, and he felt only the beating upon him of a great power from outside. It took his hand, and as Frodo watched with his mind, not willing it but in suspense (as if he looked on some old story far away), it moved the hand inch by inch towards the chain upon his neck.
Then his own will stirred; slowly it forced the hand back, and set it to find another thing, a thing lying hidden near his breast. Cold and hard it seemed as his grip closed on it: the phial of Galadriel, so long treasured, and almost forgotten till that hour. As he touched it, for a while all thought of the Ring was banished from his mind. He sighed and bent his head.
[âŠ]
'Wake up, Mr. Frodo! They're gone, and we'd better go too. There's something still alive in that place, something with eyes, or a seeing mind, if you take me; and the longer we stay in one spot, the sooner it will get on to us. Come on, Mr. Frodo!'
Frodo raised his head, and then stood up. Despair had not left him, but the weakness had passed. He even smiled grimly, feeling now as clearly as a moment before he had felt the opposite, that what he had to do, he had to do, if he could, and that whether Faramir or Aragorn or Elrond or Galadriel or Gandalf or anyone else ever knew about it was beside the purpose.
He took his staff in one hand and the phial in his other. When he saw that the clear light was already welling through his fingers, he thrust it into his bosom and held it against his heart.
Then turning from the city of Morgul, now no more than a grey glimmer across a dark gulf, he prepared to take the upward road.
I think there is a very clear parallel between these two scenes. Frodo is also very tempted into taking the One Ring for himself, even though he realizes it would end badly for him. But itâs the Phial of Galadriel which helps him overcome his desire to do so.
The Phial of Galadriel is filled with water from Galadrielâs fountain, and it contains the light of EĂ€rendilâs star (the holder of one of the Three Silmarils).
In this parallel: Galadriel is Frodo, Sauron is both the Witch King and the One Ring, and Nenya is the Phial of Galadriel.
In 2x08, itâs Nenya that helps Galadriel overcome the temptation, too, like the Phial with Frodo. And Sauron sensed this, he realized Nenya stopped Galadriel from joining him. Until now, he probably believed all rings of power answered to him, because he's their creator and master.
Why did Galadriel allow the Three Elven rings to be forged, in 1x08?
Despite knowing, for a fact, Halbrand is Sauron, and he has been working at Eregion, alongside Celebrimbor, all along, in 1x08? Itâs because she knows the Three are truly free from Sauronâs influence, like she tells Elrond in 2x01?
Because her own statement in 2x02, seems to contradict this: Sauron... sees himself not as master of a barren waste, but of all Middle-earth. He seeks to rule it not only through conquest, but by bending the minds and wills of all its peoples to his own. And for that, he needs not armies... but Rings. And he cannot craft them without Celebrimbor.
Galadriel is not naĂŻve, nor is she stupid, quite the opposite. Tolkien describes her brilliant in mind and swift in action. And, in Season 2, we saw her lying to hide the true nature of her connection to Sauron: to Gil-galad, in 2x02, she denies Halbrand was her friend; in 2x06 she tells Adar, Sauron promised her an army.
Galadrielâs entire plot in NĂșmenor, in Season 1, was her trying to get herself an army to fight âSauronâ in the Southlands, and to persuade Halbrand to reclaim âhisâ throne.
Halbrand: I'm afraid you're short an army. Galadriel: Leave the army to me. 1x02
Halbrand: How? You're stuck on this island. And you're still short an army. Galadriel: That is all about to change. 1x03
Halbrand: You used me. After I all but begged you to let me be. Galadriel: I have just convinced NĂșmenor to send five ships and 500 men to aid your people and place a crown upon your head. Many might assume you used me. Halbrand: Find another head to crown. 1x05
1) Galadriel knows Sauronâs reputation
As are all Elves, and thatâs why they feared him so. They know Sauron is a powerful sorcerer, and very much so. Heâs known as the âgreat deceiverâ, a trickster, who employs deception and illusions.
2) Galadriel was aware of Sauronâs goals
Galadriel was, also, perfectly aware this was Sauronâs plan and goal, all along. Adar revealed it to her, in 1x06:
After Morgoth's defeat, the one you call Sauron... Devoted himself to healing Middle-earth, bringing its ruined lands together in perfect order. He sought to craft a power not of the flesh... But over flesh. A power of the Unseen World. He bid as many as he could to follow him far north. But try as he might... Something was missing. A shadow of dark knowledge that kept itself hidden, even from him. No matter how much blood he spilt in its pursuit.
3) She knows the rings were Sauronâs idea
And hearing Celebrimbor speaking about a âpower over fleshâ was what made her suspect Halbrand was lying about his identity and had hidden motives to be at Eregion, in the first place:
His [Halbrand] suggestions were but the key that unlocked the dam. We are on the cusp of crafting a new kind of power. Not of strength, but of spirit. Not of the flesh, but over flesh. This is... This is a power of the Unseen World.
4) Sauronâs request
Persuading Galadriel into allowing the rings to be forged was the entire point of Sauronâs first illusion, when he takes the form of her brother, Finrod.Â
He [Sauron] was seeking a power not to destroy Middle-earth, but to heal it. Just as your fellow Elves are seeking to do this very moment. You needn't lie to them. Simply let the work proceed.
This alone should âring the alarmsâ in Galadrielâs mind that something is âupâ with this whole project. And Sauron is talking in the past tense, which indicates he already found the power was seeking (as he tells Galadriel himself before the reveal: âwe found it!â).
However, this is exactly what Galadriel does. She only doesnât reveal to Elrond and Celebrimbor Halbrandâs true identity, but she allows the rings to be forged, anyway. But instead of two, she makes it three. For balance.
Are the Rings really free of Sauronâs influence?
Yes and no. The Three Elven rings are free from âSauronâs influenceâ in the sense he doesnât enslave its bearers to his will, but they not free from his power, they feed off of it, all the same. We know this from Tolkien lore; after the One Ring gets destroyed, in the Third Age, the Three lose their magical properties, and become mere pieces of jewelry.
What is most likely to have happened is that Sauron infused the mithril with his intentions in 1x08, as he did in 2x03 (for the Seven), and this was him attempting to replicate what he did before (in 1x08), but now he wants control and dominion, too, so his intentions are tainted with greed (which will be what the Seven rings of power will do to the Dwarvesâ Ring-bearers):
The rings of power are Sauron's masterplan, after all. He sees himself as their creator and their master, like he says to Celebrimbor in 2x08:
And this strengthens the theory it was Nenya that stopped Galadriel from joining him, and compelled her to fall down the cliff, in 2x08. The ring resisted his command. Which might indicate these rings have a will of their own, like the One Ring, and Nenya chose Galadriel and sees her as its master:
Having a ring of power desobey him (his very own creation) would give Sauron not only the motivation but the idea to forge a âmaster-ringâ to control all others:
"They worked wonders"
And this is why Sauron wants Nenya, and other Two of the Three. He needs them for his masterplan, because these were the only rings that actually worked. They heal Morgothâs corruption. And he wants to know what he did different with them.
And 2x08 answered to that, too:
Iâve already talked about this on several posts: the Three contain OG Maironâs essence and the qualities he was created to have by Eru himself (perfection, order, beauty), plus his desire for healing Morgothâs corruption. And this idea is also present in 2x01:
But this is not Celebrimborâs doing, at all. This is powerful Ainur magic, that only one of the Ainur (Vala or Maia) could accomplish: and that's Mairon.
Through Adar in 2x08, we got confirmation that the mithril can cure Morgoth's corruption in every sort of way. But this effect is only temporary, and thatâs probably why Sauron/Halbrand wanted to forge two (one for himself, and the other for Galadriel, because he recognizes the same yearning for healing in her).
Then why, knowing all of this, did Galadriel allow the rings to be forged, anyway?
Galadriel herself answered to that, in 1x08:
Indeed, the Elves were running out of time (Gil-Galad gave them three weeks to find a solution), soon they would have to leave Middle-earth, otherwise they would fade, and die. And Galadriel refused to return to Valinor, in 1x01, because she wants to destroy Sauron. And Elrond failed his mission in Khazad-dûm in getting more mithril (like she said to his face in 2x01):
She knows Sauron is an ancient and powerful sorcerer, and if anyone can pull something like this off is probably him. And, subconsciously, Galadriel is aware she needs his power, because he tells her so, himself, 1x08:
Sauron: You have no choice. Without me, your people will fade. And the shadow will spread and darken to cover all the world. You need me. Galadriel: I should have left you on the sea.
And to âthe seaâ he returns her in the next vision, to the moment when he saved her in the Sundering Seas, to make this point across.
And it worked. Because Galadriel is willing to take that gamble and allow the Three to be forged, because thereâs no other way for the Elves to stay in Middle-earth. And, in order to do that, she has to keep Halbrandâs true identity concealed from Elrond and Celebrimbor, otherwise they would never agree.
And Gil-galad himself agrees with this idea (âitâs the only wayâ), in 2x01, as he compels Elrond to surrender the rings:
Elrond: He worked with Celebrimbor for weeks. We know not the depth of his influence Gil-galad: Soon, the last Gold-leaf will fall, and it will be my task to inform all Lindon our time here is ended, and the Elves must abandon these shores forever. Now, you inform me our most cunning enemy is rising again. If we leave now, the peoples of Middle-earth will be left to suffer under the tyranny of a new Dark Lord. Those Rings are more than our last hope, they may be the last hope for all Middle-earth. It is a risk we must chance to take. Give them to me.
Because of you, we've no choice but to test the virtue of the Rings.
And Galadriel sort of says this to Elrond, in the same episode: I did what I felt was right. And time alone will reveal whether that was folly or wisdom.
Now, the irony of all of this is that Galadriel and the Elves, by keeping the rings for themselves, instead of destroying them and returning to Valinor, are enabling Sauron to continue his masterplan. Because had the Elves left as they were meant to, Sauron wouldnât had the means to see his plan through (because Celebrimbor would be out of his reach), nor had they condemned Middle-earth to the tyranny of the a new Dark Lord. Which means: Elrond was right.

KITTEN, BEHAVE â
. Ęâ âč . ĘË . Ę there are consequences to teasing your biker boyfriend...
âïœĄÂ°â© semi-public s/ex, fem!reader, biker!sylus, reader wears a skirt, reader's a nasty gal <3, undertones of dom/sub (sylus is one kinky mf), finger sucking, finger gagging, petnames (kitten, baby), fucking on his bike (hehe), c/um countdown, unprotected s/ex (wrap it up babes), sylus matches our freak perfectly, based on this thot i had
âïœĄÂ°â© dawn says: i've been a nasty girl ive been a nasty girl nasty nasty (sorry zayne)
Sylus isnât one to find beauty in the mundane but the wind whipping past his frosty locks and your arms wrapped tightly around him makes him feel like heâs on cloud nine.
âKitten, are you alright?â he calls over the lashing breeze.Â
His leather jacket is ridiculously thick, but even through the material, he can feel the heat of your cheeks seeping through.
You always flush whenever he calls you your favorite pet name, and Sylus forgets that just like a kitten, you can be just as playful.Â
A slender hand tipped with French nails slides down his torso, leaving blistering heat in its wake. The thin compression shirt heâs wearing under his jacket can barely fight off the warmth of your palm bleeding past the material and onto his skin.
His heart doubles in speed, and in response, he revs the N-907 Ultrabike, its wheels kicking up more dirt and dust. Linkon City speeds into a blur, White Covesâ beaches in the distance and to his right, Bloom Forest spreads her velvety green arms open for adventurous outdoor lovers to play in.Â
Your hand trickles down his abs, stealing his attention back to your whims, and he smirks behind his visor when he feels your dainty, pretty little palm resting on the front of his pants.
Looks like the little kitten wants to play a dangerous game.
Two can play the same.Â
Sylus pretends to ignore you, and he can tell it only frustrates you more when he remains stone cold and unmoving; a statue youâre trying to thaw.
Your free hand creeps under the hem of his shirt, and thank fuck the wind is too loud because a groan slips past his clenched teethâit would be absolutely embarrassing if you heard it. His mind works doubly hard to focus on not crashing the bike, maneuvering it down the winding steep roads.
âI thought you said you wanted to take me for a ride,â your voice touches his heated ears, innocent and alluring.Â
âIsnât that what weâre doing, kitten?â He tilts his head back slightly and hears your snort.Â
Your antics will never cease to amaze him. Whatever possessed you to be bold also eggs you on to be audacious. Your hands travel further up his shirt, pressing right onto his broad pecs and you smirk when you feel the bike wobbling slightly under his control.
âKitten,â he hisses. âStop it.â
But, you donât listen to him. You never do.Â
This insolent prey. He tries his damndest not to buck his hips when you start to rub his bulge, merciless with your teasing. Your other hand reaches up to his neck, where his favorite leather collar sits prettily on his defined clavicles, and tug on it, earning another hiss.
The bike skids to a stop and youâre not sure how you ended up pushed against the pillion seat, Sylus looming over you. He kills the engine and kicks down the stand, the sudden deafening silence exacerbating your heavy breathing.Â
âWait,â you squeak, and he shakes his head.
âNo more waiting. This is what you wanted, isnât it?âÂ
Looking around in a panic, you notice that heâs parked the bike under a secluded shade of trees, next to an empty strip of road.Â
This was the same route you took to the edge of the N-109 when you were given the mission to retrieve Sylus a few months ago.Â
âFamiliar, isnât it?â He reads your mind with a dark chuckle.Â
Those ruby red eyes bore into yours with the grace of a predator provoked, and you, his favorite prey, will finally get what youâve been asking for.Â
âI think itâs high time we recreated some memories from the first night we both saw each other,â he drags his palm up your bare thigh, making you shiver. âItâs a good thing youâre in a pretty little skirt, kitten,â he hums, pushing the hem of your leather mini skirtâa gift from himâout of the way.Â
Sylus inhales sharply when he notices the micro thong youâre wearing which barely covers anything, his nostrils flaring.
âInsufferable.â
âSy,â you whine, unsure what he's waiting for. It's never like him to play with his food.
The press of his bigger body on top of yours cages you to the pillion seat, the friction burning when he unceremoniously drags you closer to him.Â
Those intense eyes seem to devour you, and for the first time since youâve been together with him, you see a shadow of his villainous evil in them.Â
âIs this what you wanted?âÂ
Is this what youâve been begging for?Â
Sylus wraps a hand around your throat in broad daylight, not caring for morals or decency when he squeezes. Hard.
Your eyes roll back into your head, regret streaming in for how you teased him earlier.Â
âA-ahââ you choke lightly. âWas jusâ tryna play around.âÂ
Sylus ignores your whimpers, a bored look on his face as he loosens his fingers, letting you suck in a wheezy breath.Â
âLittle hunters never learn their lessons, do they?âÂ
He smirks unexpectedly.Â
âRemember that night you tried to tame me during our interrogation? In the end, I was the one who had you screaming, didnât I, kitten?âÂ
You did rememberâof course, you did.
The shine of your boots spreading his kneeling thighs apart. Leather collar around a pale strip of throat you just wanted to suck on and leave a mark. His smug leers, those glowing ruby eyes that shone like dying embers when he finally snaps off the handcuffs you placed him in and pins you to the ground for a taste of your own medicine.
As much as you hate to confront the truth, it stares you down with an impassive face and dark eyesâa truth that breaks the delusion that you were the one in control when it came to Sylus.Â
He touches your thighs, spreads them further. Bright sunlight speckles through the trees, casting webs of shadows across his crooked nose and high cheekbones.Â
Sylus takes his time to peel your thong off, and you bite down on your lip to muffle a whimper.
âWhat? Don't tell me you're all shy now?âÂ
He snorts in amusement at your attempts to be innocent, prying your lower lip free, stroking the curve of your plush mouth with his thumb until you relent and suck on his digit docilely.Â
While youâre not inexperienced when it comes to such carnal submission, itâs the first time youâre doing it outside of the bedroom where anyone could stumble upon the both of you.Â
The thought makes your thighs tense and your needy pussy clench down on thin air, something that Sylus doesnât miss.
âYou like this, huh? Being slutted out so publicly⊠it turns you on to be so open to me.âÂ
He continues to push his thumb around your mouth; pressing down on your gums, flicking the tip of your tongue, inspecting the ridges and juts of each pearly white tooth. Intentionally drawing out your humiliation.Â
Satisfied with the oral inspection, he removes his thumb, swiftly stuffing your protests with two thick fingers.Â
âYou say ânoâ, but I can smell that sweet little cunt getting wetter,â he murmurs, flitting his dark gaze right to your folds flushing readily with need; right to that cleft which houses his favorite hole.
Lewd doesnât begin to cover how Sylus can treat you in bed. Outside the sheets, heâs content to play the role of your partner and friend, tagging along on your adventures and explorations.Â
But the second he has you trapped in his bed, he becomes a different person.Â
Meaner. Assertive.
Downright cruel.Â
âDo you want me to touch you?â He goads, locks of silver hair falling across his damp forehead. Sweat dews across your chest, and you feel the heat of shame rising in you.
Sylus, I was just joking, you try to argue, but heâs not hearing it.Â
âDidnât seem like a joke when you were pawing at my cock earlier, kitten,â your lover hums, unable to take his half-mast red eyes off of you. Â
He slots a hand between your thighs, and you swallow a cry when he drags your thong to the side, spreading your wetness around roughly with his thumb. Sylus rubs tight circles on your aching clit, forcing you to slap a hand over your mouth to muffle your moans.
âSsh,â he whispers when you give a tiny, choked cry. Sylus takes this chance to nuzzle your neck, inhaling your scent like a starved man. âWe donât want anyone to find us out, donât we, kitten?âÂ
Evil, evil man. You bite on the inside of your palm to keep quiet when he lifts one leg to wrap around his narrow waist, effortlessly tugging his zipper down and freeing his cock.Â
âOne single sound and I will stop, do I make myself clear?â
Thereâs no choice but for you to nod. Sylus doesnât waste a single second once heâs got you all nice and wet for him, grasping the base of his girthy and veiny length, stroking it a few times to make sure heâs hard and ready for you.
The thick tip breaches past your tight ring of muscle, and you bite down on a sharp gasp, squeezing your eyes close.
His breathing is getting heavier, and he curses the second he bottoms out in your tight heat.Â
The bike begins to shake with every clean stroke, his thrusts making your toes curl and heels dig into his back. Luckily, the pillion seat is wide enough to accommodate your shaking bodies; never imagining for a single second that your lover would be boldly fucking you on it in the middle of a dangerous zone.
But, Sylus has always been like thisâaddictive, painful.
Dangerous.Â
How he fucks you is no different.Â
The blunt head touches the deepest spot inside of you, and youâre helpless to do anything but cling onto him like second skin, muffling your whines into his broad shoulder.
âLooks like the little kitten is enjoying her cream,â he murmurs, trailing his gaze down your body taking him so well.Â
The veins on the back of his hands stand out, drawing your attention to him dragging the front of your blouse down, tucking your bra cups under your heaving breasts.Â
Sylusâ mouth wraps around one turgid bud, sucking it till itâs shiny with his spit and throbbing from oversensitivity.Â
He repeats the same motion on your neglected nipple, savoring your hitched breaths and muffled whines.Â
Your thighs start to shake, and you turn your head to the side.Â
Look at you, he coos and grabs your chin, forcing you to gaze at the spot between your thighs where heâs fucking into you. Look at how well youâre taking me.Â
Youâre so wet that droplets of white are trickling down your inner thighs, frothing into stickiness where his cock is rutting shallowly inside of you.Â
âSy,â you moan softly, eyes glossing over with tears of pleasure.
He loves how needy and pathetic you look for him with your swollen, parted mouth and tight nipples just begging to be pinched or flicked.
A furrow creases between his brows, drops of sweat trickling down his jaw.Â
You surprise him by leaning forward, flattening your tongue and lapping it right up, shameless in your desire for him.Â
âNaughty girl,â Sylus purrs, his red eyes darkening to an impossible black until youâre sure not a shred of your sweet boyfriend remains. Two thick fingers part your mouth open, sliding down your welcoming throat until heâs knuckle-deep in you.
Sylus chokes you out as his other hand trails down your body towards your clit, rubbing the flushed nub until your hips buck and you cry out; a master at bringing your body closer to the pleasurable brink.Â
The tears beading in your lash line finally freefall down your face, triggering his devilish satisfaction.Â
Returning the favor, Sylus licks them clean, chuckling cruelly at the arousal turning you cross-eyed.Â
He loves it when you look this fucked out, and one day when youâre comfortable enough, he hopes youâll relent to him taking a picture of that messed up, pretty face for his safekeeping.
Baby, you gurgle around his fingers. Iâm closeâŠÂ
Yeah? He goads. Gonna break for me? Come on this cock? Make a mess? Fuckâdo it baby. Mess me up. Make me feel so good because thatâs all youâre good for, huh?Â
He grits his teeth, fighting back the cresting pleasure, needing you to come first.
Come on, baby. Come with me. Five⊠four⊠three⊠thatâs it, baby. Youâre so close, arenât you. Donât come until I reach zero. Fuckâthat pussyâs so tight. Two⊠one⊠fuck, fuck.Â
High strung keens are escaping past the cracks of his fingers stuffed in your mouth, your entire body shaking violently that Sylus thinks youâre being wrecked by an internal earthquake.
Zero. Zero. Fuck, baby. Come for me. Come on, give it to me. Give me that sweet cum. Yeah, thatâs it, thatâs itâ
He grunts, his patience breaking, flooding inside of you in waves of heat; filling you up to the brim.
In this moment of weakness where anyone targeting him can put a bullet right through his head, Sylus thinks that if he dies right now, he would do so happily in your arms.
His forehead gently thumps onto yours and you must be as fucked up as him because you push his hair back, scratching his scalp lightly.
Your sculpted, 6â2 menace of a lover whoâs seen death and destruction since the day he could speak, groans and nuzzles your cheek like a weak puppy. With every version of Sylus that you have seen before, this will always be your favorite oneâwhere heâs comfortable enough to kiss you affectionately, bringing you down from the high.
He hums. âSatisfied?âÂ
Sylus would never say he loves you out loudâthatâs not in his nature.
But, his actions scream louder than words when he adjusts your rumpled clothes and gives you a peck on your cheek.
âDo you still want to visit that mad scientist or should we scrap it for another day?â
The implicit invitation tempts you.Â
A boring lecture or a whole day spread out on my sheets, kitten?
âLetâs go home,â you choose the latter, and Sylus tries his hardest to hide his smug smile when you refer to his penthouse as your own home.
âOf course. But, for the sake of not violating any more public decency laws, you better keep your paws to yourself until we get home, kitten.â
Proving your disobedience and your unwillingness to learn your lesson, you sink two fingers under his collar, dragging him close enough for your lips to touch.Â
âThat depends on if you can get us home fast enough, Sy.â
He takes it as a challenge, a grin touched with a hint of lunacy splitting across his face.
âIs that a challenge, sweetheart?âÂ
âNo, Iââ
He pulls you into a kiss, devouring your breaths until your lungs are filled with nothing but him, him, him.Â
His fingers in your hair, an arm wound tightly around your waist so his favorite prey can never escape him. Sylus breaks off the kiss, ruby eyes like two bloody pools when he stares at your warm cheeks and puffy mouth.Â
âYou should know I alwaysâalwaysâwin our petty bets.â

road head road head road head â
MDNI.
âI swear to fuck ââ
âKeep your eyes on the road.â You admonish as his belt finally gives way under your demanding fingers. Sanemiâs foot inadvertently presses down on the gas as he feels you loop them through his belt loops.
Despite knowing thereâs objectively nothing more stupid than letting you work his pants and underwear down his hips just enough to allow his cock to spring free while heâs pushing ninety on the freeway, Sanemi finds he is helpless to stop you. Not when heâs wound this tightly; not when itâs been so fucking long.
The first tickle of your warm breath against his throbbing cock makes him hiss; but the brush of your lips against his head â now almost purple â nearly makes him jerk the steering wheel, threatening to send the car spiraling off the road.
Reality washes over him then, a bucket of cold water dumped right on his head. This is just what he needs; to get you both killed in a crashing blaze of fire and warped metal, all because he canât control his horny fucking girlfriend or resist her stupidly perfect mouth.
âThis is a dumb fuckinâ idea.â He grinds out through his teeth, clenched hard enough to crack. âJust wait another hour til we get to the damn hot â fuck!â
The muscles in Sanemiâs arms ripple, the steering wheel creaking under the force of his grip as your lips part around him, and you take his cock straight down your throat.
How embarrassing it would be for the wreckage of any car crash he gets you into to reveal that heâd had his pants down. Maybe heâll be lucky and the entire car will burst into flames, burning him badly enough that his sins canât be revealed. Old piece of shit like this is bound to be liable to explode in the event of a crash. At least, Sanemi hopes thatâs the case.
Though, the more your tongue glides along the underside of his shaft while you moan and swallow around him, the less Sanemi finds he can care how any paramedics may find your mangled, burnt bodies.
At least theyâll know he went out on cloud fucking nine.
â-
You try and lift your head up and away, but Sanemi manages to unstick one of his hands from the steering wheel. His palm shoves firmly at the back of your skull, fingers splaying across your hair, as he forces you back down.
He ignores your muffled whine of protest, nearly going cross-eyed at the feeling of your throat spasming around him as you gag.

Rafe and reader - enemies to lovers
Protective!rafe with innocent!reader
She asks her best friends brother for help when sheâs in trouble!
Safe In The Arms Of The Enemy
Pairing: Rafe Cameron x Reader
Warnings: Fear of Being Followed and Walking Home Drunk Alone
Pronouns: She/Her
Word Count: 1.2K
Masterlist
Y/N and Sarah have been best friends for as long as she can remember. Even though Y/N is three years older, they met when she was nine and Sarah was six. The two of them just clicked and they have been thick as thieves ever since. This led to their families growing close together. The Camerons were always so nice to Y/N; everyone except for Rafe. For some reason, he has always been bothered by Y/N and she reciprocates that feeling because his hate provokes her.
The music in Sarahâs room blares through the speakers while Y/N stands in front of the mirror, singing along to âStressed Outâ by Twenty One Pilots. She is sleeping over at the Camerons' house to keep Sarah company. Ward, Rose and Wheezie are on the mainland for Wheezieâs spelling bee and Rafe is who knows where. The girls had grown peckish, so Sarah offered to get some pizza, leaving behind her best friend at Tannyhill by herself. âWish we could turn back time. To the good old days. When our mama sang us to sleep, But now we're stressed out.â Her right hand forms an o as she uses it as a microphone. Her focus is on her own reflection, so she doesnât notice Rafeâs appearance behind her. He leans against the door frame with his arm above his head. âWow, you would think with how rich your parents are that they would pay for singing lessons for you after hearing you screech like a banshee,â he teases.Â
Her eyes roll in their socket and she turns to face him. She fires back, âLike I care about your opinion. Iâve seen your tastes and Iâm glad that Iâm not up to your standards.â âWhatever,â he grumbles. âObviously you are blind because I have amazing tastes.âÂ
âNah, Iâm not the problem. You are,â she pushes to infuriate him. She steps forward and they are face to face. He crouches down so their eyes meet, âI wish I was the one with the problem because then I wouldnât have to deal with you. I swear every time I see you at my house, which is all the time, I wonder when you are going to get the fuck out of my life because I hate that you are in it.âÂ
His words donât meet his eyes, but she doesnât notice. Instead, her mind takes the words to heart. A poke attacks her heart and it causes a tsunami of blood to come out. She canât explain why she takes the word to heart; she returns the sentiment. Nevertheless, maybe she doesnât feel as strongly as he does because as much as she loathes him, she couldnât imagine her life without their quipful exchanges. He sees her tight lips and her silent demeanour; guilt flashes through him.
Before he can try to resolve the situation, Sarah passes behind him with a steaming pizza in her hand. âUgh. Rafe, leave her alone. I would like to eat in peace,â she complains, setting the flat box on her desk. His hand runs over his lips as he thinks. âFine, I donât care. Later losers.âÂ
âââ
The ending of summer means Rafe and Y/N have to return back to UNC. When she found out he was going to the same university as her (she shouldâve seen it coming because Ward is an alumnus), she hesitated to accept her position; however, she figured uni was a big place and the chances of running into him were slim. It has been true for the most part. Theyâve only run into each other five times in the two years they have been at university.
She stumbles through the dark street with her head pounding. It wasnât the best idea to be walking home alone while drunk, except she didnât want to make her friends go home early. She lied to them and told them another friend was picking her up. Her feet catch on the pavement and a rock skips across the ground. A car passing beside her causes her to jump away from the road. Her inebriated state makes her more paranoid. She lets out a breath when the taillights fade into the distance. Laughter coming from behind her causes her to spin around. She spots men walking in her direction and even though they donât appear to be looking at her, panic sets through her. She begins to walk faster as her breathing starts to get faster and she decides to run into an alley to hide. Her first thought is to call to help, so she pulls out her phone and dials the first number that comes to mind. âWhat do you want?â he grunts through the phone. âRafe, Iâm scared. I donât know what to d-â She hears footsteps coming closer to her and hangs up. A trash can seems like the perfect cover, so she drops behind it against the wall.Â
Rafe sits up straight from the couch and stares at the phone. The screen showing that the call has been ended makes him grow anxious. He begins to pace as he tries her phone again. His hand runs through his hair while he replays the fear in her mind. He is sent to voicemail and wants to through his phone against the wall. Another thought comes to mind and he decides against it.Â
âââ
She doesnât know how long she has been behind the garbage with her head pressed against her legs. She is honestly too scared to move in case those men are still around. It didnât look like they were following her, but it is better safe than sorry. The alcohol in her system starts to affect her state of consciousness and she struggles to keep her eyes open. A hand on her back causes her to scream and jump back. Her head hits against the brick wall. She grimaces as she brings her hand up to rub the back of her head. âItâs okay, Sweetheart. Itâs me, Rafe.â The familiar voice makes her look up to verify his identity.Â
She sees his mop of dirty blonde hair and his stunning blue eyes stare back at her. She has never been so happy to see him. Her arms wrap around him to pull him against her, âI was so scared. Are they still out there?â She surveys the street once they separate. His hand cups her cheek to check her for injuries; he isnât concerned about their surroundings. âSweetheart, there is no one around. Are you okay? Are you hurt? Did someone do something to you?â He frowns at the last part, following her search with a hard expression to find the person he has to defend her against. She doesnât find anyone and her shoulder drops in his hold. Her head rests against his chest. Tears begin staining his shirt. His hand laces between the hair at the nape of her neck and he gently scratches her scalp. He knows it soothes her. He kisses her forehead, âIâve got you. You are safe.â For the first time tonight, Y/N feels safe and she is in the arms of her enemy.

heyyyy!!! How are you?đ
me again
so I was wondering if you could do one where Billie is dating jesse(she doesnât really love him) and r is Jesseâs younger sister and r has a secret relationship with Billie ( just some smut and fluff at the same time)
Iâm so down bad for this woman đ©
Answer when you can â€ïžâ€ïž
Ily đ€
I am SO sorry for how long this took! I've been exhausted. But here you go, babe đ ily!!!
âżFluff. â âĄSmut.
âąââââââââąÂ°âąââąÂ°âąââââââââą
You loved her. So much that it drove you crazy. You'd always day dream about what could you couldn't be. But considering your brother, Jesse, had managed to get to her first, you decided to attempt to let those feelings go. You felt there was no point in pursuing a one-sided relationship that would never happen... or so you thought.
Billie was always a huge flirt. That's just how she was. From time to time, you'd catch her hands on your waist, hugging you from behind, her hands ever so soft and warm on your skin. Whenever you felt significantly close to her, it was like you were on cloud nine... only you and her mattered, nothing else.
Your family decided to host a small get-together and insisted on Billie coming since she was 'part of the family' now. You were happy for them... really. But having to see her all the time wasn't particularly helping how you felt about her. She was all you thought about. Ever since she first told you her name, thats all that crowded your thoughts. You'd wonder when and where you would see her next, what kind of face she'd make once she saw you, and so on.
You got a call from your brother saying he couldn't make it to come pick you up from your university because he was being forced by your parents to help prepare dinner. So he suggested Billie come pick you up, but in an instant, you began to protest against the idea. Alone. With Billie. In her car. You wouldn't survive a single second.
But after many arguments and speaking over one another, you gave in. Immediately after hanging up, he called Billie, and she was more than happy to go and pick you up. She'd always wanted some time alone with you... to talk, of course. You'd always been acting strange around her but she wasn't dumb. She knew exactly what was bothering you. And she was gonna make that known.
Almost half an hour later, she arrived at the gates of your dorms, rolling down the window and greeting you with that bright smile you loved so much, gesturing for you to get in. You hesitated for a second, contemplating on whether or not you go. You made up all types of excuses in your head on why you wouldn't be able to attend. But by the time you were in the passenger seat of her car. Your seat belt on. It was too late.
"Hi angel" angel. You felt your insides warm up, her voice so soothing it sent you straight into bliss.
"Hi," was all you could mutter out between those pretty lips of yours. Those same pretty lips Billie looked over and began to stare at once she stopped at a red light.
You felt your heart race pick up. You were nervous. And she could tell from just the smallest change in your demeanor. You were biting your lip and fiddling with the leather seat belts of her dodge challenger.
The red stop light luminated over her soft flush skin, her bright blue eyes, and her plump lips that were the prettiest shade of pink.
She rested her hand on your thigh, and you had to physically restrain a moan from slipping through your lips. "You okay, angel?" You nodded your head, and the light turned green. She moved back to her original position, focusing on the road, but her hand still lingered on your thigh, dangerously close to the growing heat between your legs.
You couldn't help but stare and admire the way her hand gripped the wheel, steering it with one hand. Her other rested on your thigh as her eyebrows furrowed, focusing on the road.
Billie's phone rang, the words 'my love' popping up on the screen, making your heart drop and fill up with guilt. You felt like you were deceiving your own brother. You'd never do anything to harm their relationship purposely.
Billie's hand left the placement on your thigh to grab her phone, the warmth slowly dissipating from your skin as you took a breath, trying to gather yourself and your thoughts.
Apparently, from what you overheard, Jesse had called just to check on us, 'make sure we were safe'. She turned to you smiling, and you felt like your heart was gonna burst at any moment. She was perfect.
"We're fine. Almost there." And soon after, she hung up. Unfortunately, her hand didn't go back to your thigh. But you weren't allowed to be disappointed. You weren't her lover, and she wasn't yours.
After a long drive, you and Billie finally made it to the house. She pulled into the driveway, putting the car in park as she looked over at you, but this was different. She looked at you like she wanted to enrapture you and keep you for herself.
You swallowed hard. And that didn't go unnoticed by her as she licked her lips, looking at yours in the process. "Billie?"
"Thats my name. Dont wear it out sweetheart." She leaned in closer, and without even noticing, you did the same. Your lips were so close you could feel her every single breath. You wanted to kiss her so bad. To tangle your fingers in her hair as she swallowed your last bit of oxygen.
"Please." You said breathly, almost pleading.
She just smirked and ran her thumb across your bottom lip. She could tell you were desperate. You always were. Every since she laid eyes on you and you laid eyes on her. There'd always been a connection, and the more either of you tried to ignore it, the more it burned.
"We should go in. Yeah?" Your eyes fell down to her lips, watching them move as she spoke to you so softly... so seductively. You didn't want to go inside. You didn't want to watch her act like she was so in love with your brother when she obviously wasn't.
She got out of the car, walking over to the passenger side to open the door for you. You wished she could do this for you all the time.
You smiled nervously and swung your feet out of the vehicle and onto the pavement, grabbing onto the hand that she held out, offering to help you out of her car.
You two walked inside, greeting your parents and your brother. Billie did the same as she kissed Jesse on the cheek with those same lips you wanted on your skin so damn bad.
Once your parents finished chatting up a storm and catching up about random stuff by the door, everyone sat down at the dinner table. Billie sat down next to you and Jesse sat on the opposite side of her.
You were enjoying your food quietly in peace. And everyone else talked about whatever it was they were talking about... honestly, you didn't care very much.
Suddenly, you felt a hand on your thigh, and that same warmth from earlier returned. You glanced down at the hand rested on your leg and back up to look at billie, who hadn't been paying attention to you at all, pretending like she wasn't touching you from underneath the table. You cleared your throat and continued eating, brushing it off and ignoring it as much as you could.
Billie noticed and slid her hand up farther, her finger brushing against your clothed heat and attempting to get a reaction out of you. Everyone was too engrossed in their conversation to even notice what was going on.
This was fun to her. Sneaking around and touching you in ways she knew would get you all riled up. She loved it. The face you made whenever she hugged you a certain way, smiled a certain way, or even looked at you and certain way.
Jesse noticed your heavy breathing and strange behavior, looking at you with a concerned expression plastered across his face. "Sis, you okay?" You cleared your throat and looked up at him, nodding your head as you reassured him, letting him know you were just fine.
Except you weren't fine. This whole situation between you and billie was wrong. You grabbed onto billies wrist, preventing her from going any farther than she already was.
You stood up from your chair, holding onto your half empty plate. "I'm really tired... classes today were exhausting, so I think im gonna head to bed first." Jesse and your parents shrugged, wishing you goodnight and sweet dreams. They were a little concerned, but understanding of the long day you had.
You proceeded into the kitchen, setting your plate by the sink with the rest of the dirty dishes before sighing heavily.
Maybe some rest would clear your head. Today did actually end up being exhausting, so you needed it.
You took a long hot shower and changed into your favorite pajamas, climbing into the bed as the ac blew cool air into your room. The same room you grew up in as a child.
You remembered counting all the glow in the dark stars that stuck to your ceiling every night to help you sleep better.
So you turned, facing the ceiling and your face lit up with a smile as you realized they were still there. You counted and counted all the stars that stuck to your ceiling until the next thing you know... you were fast asleep.
A few hours later, you felt the other side of your bed sink, hands latching onto your hips as you were pulled closer to the warmth behind you.
You hummed, but it turned into a gentle moan, feeling pressure onto your now heated cunt. You felt the soft flesh of someone lips run across your neck before a kiss was plastered onto it.
"Try not to be so loud, okay? Your eyes widened, realizing who it was behind you.
You figured it was Billie, but once you were reassured it was, you panicked.
"Wait..." You grabbed onto the hand that rested on your waist, attempting to free yourself from her grasp, but she fought back. Keeping you in her embrace as she shifted her knee in-between your thighs, earning a slutty moan that escaped from your lips.
She chuckled softly, feeling you instinctively move your hips, seeking any kind of pleasure you could get out of this.
"Fuck..." You said shakily, your legs beginning to tremble as the grip on your waist tightened, moving your hips faster.
"Atta girl."
Billie sneaked her hand farther up your shirt and realized you didn't have a bra on, only making it easier for her to get ahold of your breasts. She kissed your neck, groaning as she circled your sensitive perked up nipples.
She was downright obsessed with your breast. The way they sat up perfectly in any low-cut shirt you wore always caught her attention. Plus, they fit in her hands perfectly. It's like you were made for her.
Her other hand kept a stern grip on your hips, making sure your pace never faltered as you chased after your release. You choked on a moan, feeling her twist, pull, and play with your breast like it was her favorite toy.
Your body convulsed, eyes rolling back once you were close. So fucking close and she could feel it. Not only could she feel how close you were, but she could feel how much you loved her. She always could. And now that she had you in your arms, she wasn't letting go.
You gasped for air and gripped onto the sheets beneath you as you came all over her leg, leaving a damp spot on her pajama pants in the process. But she didn't mind it at all.
"So pretty."
Billie traced her fingers over the line of your jaw and pulled you tight to her chest. She'd wanted your mouth on hers for months, and now that it was happening, she wanted to savor the moment.
Your lips parted as her thumb brushed over their petal softness, and you combed your fingers into the hair at the nape of her neck. Tingles washed down your back as she closed the gap between your mouths, first with the utmost gentleness, then with the hunger of a starved man. You made a delicious little sound and responded with the same hunger, sparking a fire in her belly. She didn't want it to stop.
"I love you."

Thank you for the cutest banner @ahgasegotarmy116 and I hope you like the first part of series please like, comment and reblog. <3 â€ïž
Sitting in front of the TV and watching your favorite show you start to feel a few cramps here and there. Being nine months pregnant can sometimes be concerning but you had called your doctor a few times to make sure that experiencing things like this was normal he said that you shouldnât worry too much since they never lasted more than a minute or two. At this point, all theyâve really suggested is that you sit there and wait it out for a few more days until your baby girl decides itâs time to come out.Â
Jungkook being the ever-doting yet mildly nervous husband is always ready to drop everything to help you. He massages your feet, helps you take a bath and even helps you shave if you want him to. Even after heâs had a long day at the office. He never complains, he just wants to make sure you and the baby are always okay.Â
While he was in the kitchen grabbing you some snacks and making you your favorite chamomile tea you started to feel the baby start moving around but it seemed pretty normal, so you thought nothing of it. Soon though you started to feel a really rough contraction running through what felt like your whole body and leaving your back aching and you letting out a huge groan in response.Â
âShit are you okay? Jungkook asks, running up to you panicking and hands you a glass of water, trying to think of something that might help. You let out another groan in pain and he starts to realize that it might be time. âI think the baby is coming,â I say, trying to stay calm and ride the wave as the next contraction starts.Â
Iâll go get your hospital bag and weâll leave as soon as possible. Iâm here okay donât worryâ he says in a hushed tone, doing his best to help me stay calm before he starts running all over the house and makes sure that we have everything that we need. He packs a bag for himself quickly throwing random things he thinks would be helpful and rushes back over and helps me walk out the door.Â
âOkay let me help you stand up. One, two, three-â Jungkook says "it's okay Iâm not helpless so please stop worrying so much. Letâs just make it there as soon as we canâ he nods in acknowledgement and makes sure to help me nonetheless as he walks me over to the elevator that takes us down into the lobby so we can head outside to where our car is parked. He helps you sit down in the passenger seat and closes the door for you before opening the door to the backseat quickly and packing everything into the car as quickly and carefully as he can so we can get on the road.Â
He runs back into the apartment to grab a few more things and while heâs gone you let out a few tears just thinking about the fact that the next time you come back here youâll be bringing your beautiful baby girl home.Â
He rushes back to the car a few minutes later with the last few things he had forgotten including your Favorite wool sweater and your warm winter coat. âWeâll be there in a few minutes love, donât worry everything's gonna be okayâ he says leaning over and giving you a quick kiss before sitting back and putting his seatbelt on. âEverything is gonna be okay,â he says more to himself starts the car pulls out of the parking lot and rushes to the hospital.Â
Once you reach the hospital that youâve been going to for all of these months you meet with the nurses take you back to your room and have your husband fill out the forms to check you in. Heâs hesitant to leave you but theyâre able to complete everything quickly and he runs to the room theyâve put you in immediately and helps you change into the hospital gown theyâve given you before helping you lay down.Â
AFTER SOME TIMEÂ
The doctors suggested taking an epidural to ease the pain and your a few cms away from getting dilated. Jungkook sat beside the hospital bed holding your hand and gave soft kisses on the back of your hand whispering I love you and you going to be okay. But deep down Jungkook was afraid and just prayed for a safe delivery.Â
Yours and Jungkook's talking resounded in the hospital room when you feel a sharp contraction and you groan in pain clutching his hand Jungkook hurries up calling the doctor and they tell you are ready to push.
"JEON JUNGKOOK GET THIS BABY OUT OF ME RIGHT NOW " you scream your lungs out and grab onto his collar your mouth just some inches away as the doctor and your husband try calming you down. "Baby calm down and just push... we will soon have our baby girl in our arms" Jungkook said drying the sweat forming on your forehead.Â
Jungkook tries not passing out and staying with you the entire time while he panics himself and helps you push while the doctor in between your leg tells you she can see the head and tells you to let out more pushes while hardly clutching on your husband's hand and squeezing the life outta him.Â
Soon enough soft cry resounds in the room, and you have a breath and collapse on the hospital bed... tears leave your eyes staining your now red cheek "Daddy wants to cut the umbilical cord?" The doctor asks snapping Jungkook out of his thoughts to lost when he sees his baby the nurses hand him a pair of scissors and he cuts it.
Making some space Jungkook removes some of your hospital gowns to allow some skin-to-skin to contact the doctor happily lays down your baby girl while you coo to make her stop crying, Jungkook giggles looking at her and smooths his fingers on her face and bows down towards your forehead and leave a kiss "you did so good baby" Jungkook speaks in between chuckles.Â
A few minutes pass by while your baby opens her eyes and coos out the softest voice you have ever heard and you lay a kiss on her cheek "Hi baby" You speak to and she smiles up as if she understands what you are saying "Jungkook here you wanna hold her?" you ask your voice a bit raspy from all the screaming to get this baby girl out, nodding he removes his black t-shirt so he can have skin to skin contact with her and sanitizes his hands, and you pass her to your husband.
"Hi baby, it's me your dad" Jungkook introduced himself while the baby just whined and cuddled herself in his embrace chuckling, after a few kisses and talking to her in a baby voice he handed the baby to the nurses so they could take the baby so they could clean her and get her wrapped in a baby cloth.
In the meantime, the nurses bring in a birth certificate and you both name her Na-Eun the name you both decided after the gender reveal party and get it written on the birth certificate.
Na-Eun arrives in a purple swaddling which makes her look like a sweet potato smiling at the nurse she hands her to you and Jungkook lands a kiss on your face and tells you he will leave for a few minutes and call your parents.
You smile and nod at him and shift a bit so you can keep your daughter beside you, looking closely you notice her soft features resembling Jungkook so much a mole under her lip and a mole on her neck make her more beautiful you tear up a bit.Â
âOh my godâŠ...â A small gasp is imitated by your mom as she stands there with some gifts in her hand and a bouquet in another, chuckling at you she kisses your forehead âYou did great babyâŠ. oh and look at this cutie right hereâ she says softly her own eyes tearing up and your dad stands beside you kissing your cheek.Â
Na- Eun is held by her grandmother and grandfather who wouldnât stop sweet-talking to her and you just wish you could stay in this moment forever and you canât wait to bring your baby bean home.
A/N: Thank you so much if you made it till the end ill soon post the second part which is them bringing their baby home and how the first night goes :)

northern attitude
geyser (where hurricane is introduced)
pairing: luke castellan x daughter of poseidon!reader
summary: you and luke meet for the first time. (or luke saves you from a monster, you argue with each other the whole time, and he realizes that he doesn't want to survive alone anymore.)
a/n: by popular demand, hurricane is back for a sequel! and potentially more. lol. enjoy some insight into her (justice for weird little girls) and try not to think about the fact that she dies 6 years later! title comes from new england king noah kahan for these new england icons
wc: 4.6k
warning(s): some inner luke angst, monster encounter and short fight (luke gets a bit injured), they argue but in the fun way. they're just lil nine year olds
âWhy are you looking at me like that?â Luke muttered.Â
He didnât get an answer back. He was, after all, talking to a fish.Â
Maybe it didnât like that he was a criminal. Luke had snuck his way into the New England Aquariumâhe wasnât going to cough up twenty-five bucks to look at marine lifeâin desperate need of a reprieve from the city, and he fought the urge to check his back every second. If there was one thing heâd learned from being on his own, it was that kids traveling alone always attracted attention. The last thing he needed was attention.Â
Talking to a fish probably wasnât good for that, but Luke wasnât exactly in the best headstate.Â
Because honestly, he didnât really know what he was doing in Massachusetts. He tried staying in Connecticut after running away, but it still felt too close to home. He could still hear his mom yelling, could still see her glowing eyes. So he bought the cheapest bus ticket he could find to Boston, hoping a state in between would help.Â
That was the second thing heâd learned while traveling on the road: everything was way too expensive. And for a kid with no job living off the allowance heâd saved up and some extra money he took out of his momâs wallet, that wasnât great. If Luke couldnât get something dirt cheap, he stole it. His father may not have answered any of his prayers in the past few years, but at least he had naturally quick fingers.Â
Luke sighed as he turned away from the fish, who was clearly not interested in striking up a conversation. He weaved his way through the crowd as he tried to think of where to go nextâit wasnât the smartest decision, but he was tempted to get a little whale plush from the gift stopâwhen he heard the middle of a conversation.Â
âYou made a mistake coming here, dearie.âÂ
The hairs on the back of his neck stood up as Luke froze in place. He couldnât even murmur an apology to the people who bumped into him because the gears in his head were turning rapidly.Â
âLet go of meââ a voice protested in response.Â
âQuieting down would do you some good. Did your mother not teach you manners?â
He was still trying to see who it was when he finally found it. A middle-aged woman moved through the crowd with a girl around Lukeâs age, her hand wrapped tightly around the girlâs arm. Her nails were more like claws, and she had a strange gait that she tried to cover up. That was when he knew.Â
See, Luke had gotten used to distinguishing creeps from freaks with all his time on the road. Cutting a monster down would turn them into dustânormal humans would call the police. And if there was anything more dangerous for a runaway juvenile than monsters, it was the police.Â
But if a monster had ignored every single person in this building to get to you, it meant heâd somehow stumbled his way into the path of another half-blood. And Luke wasnât going to let another half-blood die right in front of him.Â
So he took a deep breath, hoped the five second plan he made up in his head would work, and moved in.
âMay, where have you been?â Luke tried to put on his best brother voice, and made himself as imposing as a nine year old could be. He didnât focus at all on the monster, instead communicating to trust him as much as he could with his eyes. âMomâs been worried sick!â
Both you and the woman turned to look at him, and Luke immediately knew he made the right choice from the blatant fear in your expression.Â
âSorry,â you said, letting your shoulders fall and your gaze drop to the ground. Luke tried not to let his relief show over you playing along. âI really wanted to look at the sea turtleââÂ
âYou shouldâve said something instead of just wandering off,â he insisted. âWe can all go look at it togetherâonce Mom is done lecturing you, at least.â Luke took your hand and you let him pull you over to his side, positioning himself in front of you ever so slightly as he looked up at the woman. âThanks for keeping an eye on her. I appreciate it.âÂ
âYou should be more careful,â she said eerily. It felt as if she was staring right into his soul. âYou never know the kind of things that are out there.âÂ
âI know,â he said, shaking his head. âSisters, am I right?âÂ
As soon as they were out of hearing distance, he lowered his voice and tightened his grip on your hand. âCome on. Try and look casual.âÂ
âYou know what she is,â you whispered.
âYes,â he said, then he shook his head. âIâ not exactly. But I know sheâs a monster.â
âI knew it,â you muttered with vindication. Luke felt your eyes on him. âSo youâre like me?â
He nodded. âYeah.â
âOne of your parents isââ You stopped, as if you still werenât sure.Â
Luke knew the feeling all too wellâdesperately trying to tell someone what he was only to be met with that look adults loved to give. Youâre clearly talking nonsense, but I feel bad for you so Iâll humor you. And all the normal kids heâd tried to tell the truth to thought he was just playing a game.Â
âA god,â he finished quietly. âYeah.â
You started to look back, but Luke stopped you.Â
âDonât.â Their chances of getting attacked in a place so full of people was lower, but Luke had dealt with some particularly bold monsters. One able to disguise themself as a human would have an advantageâLuke learned people hated listening to kids, especially ones they could pass off as delusional. âYou donât want her to catch on.âÂ
âWho are you?â you asked.Â
âMy nameâs Luke,â he said. âWhat about you?âÂ
You said your name, then you glanced at him. âYou know a lot about all of this. More than me.âÂ
âAre you a runaway too?â
You nodded, and a part of his heart broke. You had no right to be out here, not when you were so young.Â
And he says so, too. âYou shouldnât be out here on your own. Itâs dangerous.âÂ
You frowned. âYouâre out here on your own too.âÂ
âIâve been on my own for a few months,â he said. âI know what to expect. How long have you been out?âÂ
You shrugged. âA week.âÂ
Luke let out a ragged sigh. âYouâve got bad luck if monsters are already coming after you.âÂ
âThey already have,â you murmured, and you looked back at him. âHow old are you if youâve been doing this for months?âÂ
Luke frowned. âNine. How old are you?âÂ
âIâm also nine,â you shot back. âSo you canât say anything to me.âÂ
He opened his mouth to retortâLuke hadnât been a child in years, not since Hermes left him alone with a cursed mother and a burning rage inside of him that he couldnât let go of, no matter how hard he tried. But if you chose to run away from home too, then you were in the same boat. Kids like you two didnât get to be kids.Â
âFair,â he conceded. âBut itâll be a lot easier to give her the slip if we work together.â
ââŠI can deal with that.â You cleared your throat. âThank you for saving me, though. I⊠I just froze.âÂ
âIt happens more than youâd think,â Luke muttered. âWe have to throw her off our trail, though. Sheâs not gonna be happy.âÂ
âSheâs probably ecstatic,â you said, shaking your head. âSheâs got two kids to eat instead of one.âÂ
âArenât you an optimist?â he remarked.Â
You chuckled. âSorry. It hasnât been a great day.âÂ
âItâs fine.â Luke didnât know the last greatâgod, even goodâday heâd had, even before he ran away. Honestly, this conversation with you had been the highlight of this month. âBut we canât just leave. She has our scent, so sheâll be on us as soon as weâre on our own. Itâll be even easier out in the open. Weâve gotta set security on her trail to get her off ours.âÂ
You nodded as you turned another corner. âWe should get to the gift shop. Itâll be less populated, but still enough to hide us.âÂ
Luke nodded. âSmart. And securityâll have an easy path there in case of shoplifters.âÂ
âSo tell a sob story, get security, set them on her,â you said, looking at him.Â
âThen get the hell out of here,â he agreed.Â
âThink we can get a souvenir for the occasion?â you asked. âWeâve probably earned it with all this dodging.âÂ
Luke thought about that whale plushie again. âMaybe.âÂ
âThe stairs are that way.â You gestured with your head, and Luke turnedâheâd been going the completely wrong direction.
âThanks,â he said. âYou know this place?âÂ
âIâm from Boston,â you nodded. âAnd Iâve been here a lot with my mom.â
Luke figured he should have guessed by the accent. He didnât know how long he was going to stay, but it would be useful to have someone with him who knew the city.
âYouâre still pretty close to home,â he noted.Â
You shrugged. âIâve been doing all the things Iâve wanted to do now that Iâm officially on my own. I know Iâm gonna have to leave eventually, butâŠâ you sighed and shook your head. âI guess Iâm scared. Brave enough to run away but too scared to make it official.âÂ
Luke understood that more than you could know. It took him feeling like he was going to burst out of his skin before he got the strength to leave Connecticut.Â
âYou donât wanna leave your mom,â he guessed.Â
You nodded. âI love her more than anything, but Iâve already put her in too much danger. Iâm leaving until I can figure out how to keep her safe.âÂ
Youâre a kid, Luke wanted to say. It should be the other way around. But heâd already been hypocritical enough for today, and youâd probably say the same.Â
âThatâs sweet,â he said. âStupid, but sweet.âÂ
âWeâre both nine-year-old runaways,â you said. âYou donât get to tell me whatâs stupid.âÂ
He chuckled and shook his head, letting the matter drop as you finally got to the gift shop. Luke had been stressed about how to strike a balance between cautious enough to keep your backs covered but confident enough to not be questioned, but it turned out talking with you was all he needed.Â
On the way to the front, Luke caught sight of a whale plushie. His fingers itched to grab it, but he kept his eyes on the better prize of not dying and came to a stop at the cash register.Â
âHi,â Luke said, getting the attention of the employee at the front, hoping he sounded adequately fearful. âThereâs a woman out there that tried to get my friend to go with her. Tall, middle-aged, dressed in grandmother-y clothes with glasses. She grabbed her arm and threatened her.âÂ
âYou kids arenât joking around, are you?â the cashier asked.Â
âNo,â you said, and Luke was shocked by how close to tears you sounded. âIt was really scaryâ my parents were in the bathroom and I was waiting for them, and she just looked so nice, butââ somehow, a tear actually fell from your eye as you let out a sobâ âbut she tried to take me away.âÂ
The woman shook her head as she went back and grabbed a walkie talkie from below the register. The moment she turned away, you glanced at Luke and nodded, and he just stared in awe. She relayed Lukeâs description then said a couple other things, then she crouched down to be on their level to look you straight-on. âWhere are your parents?âÂ
âTheyâre in the bathroom on the second floor,â you provided. âWe came here because we didnât know where else to go.âÂ
She sighed, falling for every part of it. You were much better at garnering sympathy than Luke was. âIâm sorry, sweetie. I called our securityâ theyâll be here in a second to get a statement from you.âÂ
You nodded, sniffling a bit as your lip quivered. âThank you. Iâ I just want my mom.âÂ
The employee put her hand to her heart, and when you went for a hug, she reciprocated. âDonât cry. Youâre gonna be safe, okay? Iâll wait with you until security gets here. One of our guards is already out there looking for her.â
âOkay,â you agreed. Luke caught your eye from behind her back, and you dropped your act in a second to smile knowingly at him. He just shook his head with a slight smile of his ownâyou were good at this.Â
Eventually, two security guards arrivedâLuke doubted they would be good for handling a shoplifter, much less a mythological monsterâbut they took yours and Lukeâs statements, and were about to leave before you spoke up.Â
âOur parents are definitely looking for us,â you said, already back on the verge of tears. âCanâ can you take us to them? When they went to the bathroom, we were by the coral reef.âÂ
ââCourse.â One of them nodded and looked at his partner. âIâll get them back to their parentsâyou look for the suspect.âÂ
After a short discussion, the three of you set out, you still holding Lukeâs hand as he leaned closer to you.Â
âOn my signal,â he murmured. âWeâre gonna blend into the crowd and get out of here.â
You nodded. You were so close to the exit, but you allowed the guard to take you up the stairs, and thankfully the crowd around the middle of the giant ocean tank was huge. Luke counted off quietly, and when he got to three, you split off, blending into a group of kids on a school field trip to get back to the stairs.Â
You started moving at a much quicker pace, the exit within your sights, but just as they were about to make it, Luke spotted their monster. And now, she was definitely a monsterâLuke couldnât remember the name, but sheâd shed her disguise, looking like some kind of bird-human hybrid thing. It didnât really matter in his opinion, because she really looked like she wanted to kill the two of you.Â
Luke cursed and grabbed your arm, immediately pulling you flat up against the wall with him. âSheâs here.âÂ
âWe told security about her,â you protested. âHow hard could it be to find her?âÂ
âA bit harder when theyâre gonna be seeing something different.â Luke glanced at you. âYou said youâve already dealt with monsters before.âÂ
You nodded.Â
âDo you remember feeling like you were the only one who actually saw what was happening? Like you saw the monster for what it was while it was trying to kill you, and everyone was still freaking out, but not as much as they should have been?âÂ
You nodded again.Â
âWell, thatâs a thing. Normal people canât see what monsters really look likeâonly we can.â Luke peeked his head around the corner again. âAnd if sheâs shed her disguise, it means she wants to go in for the kill. And it means weâre completely on our own.âÂ
âWeâre not on our own,â you said. âWeâve got each other.âÂ
Luke found himself smiling. It had been a while since that was true. It had been a while since heâd smiled.Â
âYeah,â he agreed. âAnd itâs harder to kill two half-bloods than one.âÂ
He poked his head out again and immediately withdrew it, cursing under his breath as he stared up at the ceiling. âI never should have come to this city.â Â
âExcuse me?â You stepped away from the wall as your brows furrowed. âBoston is the greatest city in the world.âÂ
âIf youâre gonna be wrong, be wrong quietly,â Luke urged, gesturing with his head for you to get back. âAnd you are wrong, by the way.âÂ
âIâm not wrong.â You crossed your arms, refusing to budge. âDid you know that we have the first public park? And the first public school! And we have the T! Where are you even from?âÂ
âWe can talk about this later,â he insisted. âWeâre trying to hide. Have you ever hidden before?âÂ
âWe donât need to hide when youâve insulted my Commonwealthâs honor,â you said. âEspecially when youâre in our aquarium. Where are you from to be talking so badly about the Bay State?âÂ
âConnecticut,â he finally said, hoping that would get you to finally quiet down, but that only ramped you up further. âPlace called Westport.â
âConnecticut?â you marveled, throwing your hands up. âYouâre from some podunk town in Connecticut and youâre insulting Boston?âÂ
âOkay, Westport is not a podunk townââ Luke started, but he didnât get the chance to finish defending his hometown before he caught sight of their monsterâand sheâd caught sight of them.Â
Luke cursed even harder under his breath with words no nine year old should have known, then he grabbed your hand and pulled you along into a jog, interrupting your immediate protests.Â
âSheâs got us pinned,â he said, trying to keep his voice low enough to not be detected while making sure you could hear him. âTogether, our scent is too strong. Weâre not gonna be able to lose herâweâve gotta kill her.â
âCould the fish help with her knowing where we are?â you asked as you started running with him. âBecause theyâll be happy to help us. They donât like her either.â
Luke did a double take. âWhat?â
âI can hear what theyâre saying,â you said, as if it were completely normal. âItâs a little overwhelming with so many in one place, honestly.â
If they werenât on the run from a monster, Luke would have worried a bit more about the fact that you were crazy. But he wasnât awarded those kinds of luxuries these days.Â
âWeâllââ Luke let out a sigh, because what did you mean that you could hear what fish were saying (especially because they clearly werenât conversation prone)â âweâll get out of here, and get the upper hand, and weâll kill her. Okay?â
âOkay,â you nodded. âBut Boston is still the greatest city in the world.âÂ
He huffed, taking his eyes off the path forward for a moment just to look at you. âAre you seriously still on this?âÂ
âOf course. We also have the greatest baseball team in the country.â You gestured with your free hand. âDo you see how many people here have Red Sox hats on?âÂ
Luke laughed out of pure shock. Was this the kind of stuff heâd been missing out on while traveling alone?Â
âListen,â he said. âIf we get out of this alive, you can tell me all the Red Sox facts you want. But we actually have to work together through all this. Deal?âÂ
âDeal,â you said immediately. âYouâre way more focused than I am.âÂ
Luke let out a loose breath and shook his head. âWell, Iâve had to be. Do you have a weapon?âÂ
âI took a kitchen knife before I left,â you said, âjust to be safe. Itâs worked pretty well.âÂ
âDo you know how to use it?âÂ
âIâm really good at chopping vegetables,â you said. âAnd I killed a monster with it the other day.âÂ
âGlowing reviews,â Luke chuckled. âIâm pretty good with my sword, so we should be okay.âÂ
âYouâve got a sword? How?âÂ
â...My dad left it for me before he left,â Luke said. âI guess he wanted to do one good thing for me in his life.âÂ
âIâm sorry,â you said. Luke offered a tight smile.Â
âDoesnât matter much anymore,â he said. âSoon as we get outside, we get to the street and get to some empty alley. We hide on either side, wait for her to find us, then take her down. Okay?âÂ
You nodded resolutely. âLetâs do it.â
The beginning of the plan wasnât too difficult. Your faces would probably be plastered all over the place once the staff realized you were missing, but that was a problem for another day. You knew the area well so you took chargeâand you took the time to spout random facts about the city on your way, of course, like a nine-year-old tour guideâand soon enough they were indeed in an empty alleyway.Â
You and Luke stood on each side, weapons in your grasp now that you werenât surrounded by a whole aquarium of people, and he watched as you stared straight ahead, trying to keep your breathing steady. Besides the whole hearing fish thing, you seemed pretty well-adjusted for where you were.Â
But then againâyouâd only been at this for a week, and the way you talked about your mom, your home life was the complete opposite of his.Â
Luke shook his head. It didnât matter what your life was likeâyou both ended up in the same place.Â
His thoughts were mercifully ended when Luke heard sharp nails scratching against the brick of the alleyway. He grimaced, his grip tightening on his sword, and he looked over at you. Your eyes were slightly wide, but you nodded when he did. You were ready.Â
âYou two are clever,â the monster sang, her voice just as grating as her nails against the wall, âbut I never miss a meal. And those measly workers just wouldnât sate my appetite.âÂ
Her steps got closer and closer, and Luke held his breath. Right before she would be able to see you both, he yelled, âNow!âÂ
You were out first, immediately lashing at her with your knife. She took the cut against her shoulder and slashed at you in turn, but you dodged out of the way, giving Luke a chance to come in with his sword. But his angle was off, and she deflected the blow then sunk her claws into his arm. Luke cried out, landing a kick on her chest as he ripped himself out of her grasp, but her focus was already back on you.Â
You stabbed at her with your knife and actually landed it in her chest, but it wasnât Celestial bronzeâall it did was make her angrier. She screeched and tackled you to the ground, knife still sticking out of her, claws poised to rip your throat out. You grit your teeth as you wrestled her arms away from you, but your strength was fading fast.Â
Lukeâs eyes widened and he grabbed his sword from the ground. He wouldnât make it in time, but you could.Â
He called out your name and threw his sword, and you didnât even have to look to snatch it out of the air. Storms raged in your eyes as you stabbed the monster through the side.
âYou shouldnât have come here, dearie,â you spat.Â
The monsterâs scream dissolved with the wind as she exploded into dust, dousing you in yellow powder. The sword fell out of your grip as you coughed, and you just laid on the ground, drained. Â
âGross,â you grumbled.Â
Luke wiped his hand across his forehead as he fought to catch his breath, ignoring the blood seeping down his arm. âAre you okay?âÂ
âYeah,â you said between coughs. âIâm great.âÂ
Luke went over and offered his hand, and he pulled you up after you took it. âIâm so sorry. I guess Iâm a little rusty.âÂ
âNeither of us are dead, are we? Iâd say it went pretty well.â You grimaced as you wiped the powder off your face, groaning again. âThis is gonna take forever to get off.âÂ
Luke chuckled as he took his backpack off and took out a towel, which you accepted gratefully. A demigod always had to be prepared. âYou say youâve only been on your own for a week?â
You nodded as you started cleaning your face and arms off. âNot my first monster, though.â
âIt never is,â he murmured. Luke tipped his head back towards the sun and closed his eyes, letting out one final, long breath as the buzz from battle started to fade. And along with that, his adrenalineâthe wound on his arm began to sting, and he sighed. He really didnât feel like dealing with that.Â
âYouâre hurt,â you said, and Luke opened his eyes.Â
âIâll be fine,â he said. âTheyâre surface level.âÂ
You frowned. âAre you sure?âÂ
âIâve stitched myself up a few times, and this doesnât need them,â he said, his lip curling at the memory. He was not a very good doctor. âI have some first aid stuff in my bagâonce we get out of here, Iâll fix it up.âÂ
âYou said we,â you said.Â
Luke blinked. âI did?âÂ
You nodded. âWhen we get out of here.âÂ
He blinked again. He didnât even noticeâdidnât even really think about where you would go after the monster was dead. It was kinda sad, but Luke was pretty sure heâd smiled and talked more in this one hour with you than the past few months on his own. Heâd already started thinking of you and him as a collective.Â
âWhat dâyou think, then?â he asked. âYou wanna stick together?âÂ
You frowned. âYouâre willing to kick it with a girl you just met?â
He shrugged. âYou fight well, obviously. And youâre way better at making people feel bad for you than I am. Thatâs useful when youâve got nothing.â
âWeâre kids on our own,â you said. âItâs not that hard to get pity points.â
âIâve been told Iâm⊠abrasive,â Luke said. âBesides, I like you already. You were arguing for your baseball team while running for your life. Itâs annoying, but impressive.â
âPeople also say that about me,â you said sagely. Luke smiled and held out his hand more.Â
âSo? You wanna join forces?â
You stared at it for a while. âEven if I spend the next couple of hours telling you all about the Red Sox?â
Luke chuckled. âI did say you could if we got out of this alive. And I feel pretty alive.âÂ
It took you another second, but you nodded intently and shook his hand. âThen youâve got yourself a deal, Luke.âÂ
âGlad to hear it,â he said, his smile widening.Â
You handed him the towel and he went to put it back in his bag when he saw the⊠souvenir heâd taken before you left the gift shop. He grabbed the whale plushie that had been on his mind all day and held it out to you. âHere.â
You frowned. âWhen did you even have the time to get this? You definitely didnât pay for it.â
âIdle hands are the devilâs playthings,â he said. âThey wonât miss it. Itâs a much better use marking the start of our friendship. Besides,â Luke shrugged, âyou did say you wanted a souvenir.âÂ
You smiled as you took it. âLooks like weâre a trio, then.â
âWelcome to the team,â he said with a grin. âItâs a small one, but I think weâll make it work.â
âMe too,â you nodded. âAnd itâll be nice not being alone.â
Luke thought back to all the nights spent sleeping under bridges, commandeering benches, purposefully choosing overnight buses so he would have somewhere to rest. Constantly watching his back because he had no one else, wondering if each night he camped in the woods would be his last.Â
He looked at you, a girl who ran away from home because she didnât want to hurt her mom. Your clothes were covered in yellow monster dust, sweat dripped down your forehead, and Luke had nearly gotten you killedâbut you were still smiling. And he found himself smiling too.Â
âYeah,â Luke murmured. âIt will be.âÂ

Secret Brothers
I have been thinking about a Demon Twins DCxDP crossover, specifically one where absolutely everybody is confused. Also Raâs is the Asshole.Â
Letâs take a walk.
Damian and Dante(Danny) were twins, raised together, trained together, and loved each other deeply. Talia, though not the best of parents by most measures, does love her children. The twins are raised as assassins and were extremely effective when teamed together. So effective that Raâs Al Ghul decided that together they were a threat. He decides that Damian is the preferred twin and heir.
At age nine, almost exactly, Raâs sends Dante out with another Assassin, who has orders to kill Dante. The results of this attempt leaves Dante wandering around Northern Arizona to be found by the Fentons (who were on a road trip), with head trauma that means that the only thing Dante remembers is that his name starts with DAN. Talia and Damian believe that Dante was murdered and his body stolen by parties unknown and decide to hunt down Danteâs murderer. Raâs, believing Dante dead, allows it for several weeks before deciding that he did not want his daughter and his heir obsessed with an inconsequential spare. So he has a strong magical spell cast on anyone who would have known Dante in the league, hiding and disguising their memories.Â
Eight years pass, Damian and Danny are 17. Damian has been living with Bruce since he was 10 and still does not remember he has a twin. Talia still does not remember that she had two sons.Â
Dante, now Danny, still has no clear memories from before he was found by the Fentons. Even the accident with the portal did not bring back those memories. By the time we start, he has already come out to his parents about being Phantom (in admittedly the most traumatizing way for the Fenton parents as possible-He, Tucker, and Sam sat them down and showed them the full raw security tapes of the accident before telling them anything. Jack and Maddie may be oblivious and obsessive but they are very intelligent. They realized almost immediately what it meant that their portal opened with Danny inside, even before he was spit out a blackened corpse who healed into Phantom).Â
This is a good Fenton Parents, who not only took the half ghost realization well but also immediately became a bit obsessed with not only lab safety, as one of their inventions had killed one of their children, but also with understanding ghost culture. They also immediately started manufacturing weapons for ghosts to use against the GIW(The Fentons are 100%, ride or die, enthusiastic at all times and in this one the moment they realize that there were people hurting DannyâŠthey were ready to rip the GIW apart molecule by molecule). Phantom has also connected with the Justice League, joined the Justice League Dark, who were able to get the Anti Ecto Acts reversed. The Justice League as a whole knows that Phantom is a half ghost, half human King of the Infinite Realms whose civilian name is Danny Fenton but Batman, nor any of his kids, has not had the opportunity to meet Danny out of uniform, as it were. Batman and Red Hood know and Trust Phantom, as he has also helped with the Pit Rage (The Lazarus Pits are corrupted Ectoplasm for the win).
Which brings us to our start.Â
Itâs a pretty basic premise. A Cult (14 people present) decides to summon the Ghost King for power. When Danny was first crowned he set his summoning, but really didnât want it to be an open season on summonings. So one of his âingredientsâ is a drop of family blood (not specifying if it had to be those he considered family, or blood family) with provisions in place so that Danny would be able to tell if it was being forcibly taken or not through the summoning spell. The cult captures the Batfam and uses Damianâs blood to summon the Ghost King. Who arrives, a little confused.Â
Heâs even more confused when he sees Batman and Co tied up. Ghost King Phantom peers at Batman, not even paying any attention to the cultist. âDid you call?â
Batman grunts a no and jerks his head to the cultist.
Phantom redirects his focus back to the head Cultist who starts to do a grand speech about glorious power. Phantom interrupts him to ask âHow did you get my summoning?â
The Head Cultist lights up with pride, âI have a spell that was able to transcribe your summoning, we used another to make sure we got the right ingredients.â
After a little bit of back and forth the Cultist admit that none of them actually understand the language that they used to summon Ghost King Phantom, nor do they know why they needed the ingredients they did. Ghost King Phantom pinches the bridge of his nose as he laments that cultists have gotten so damned stupid. Phantom asks each cultist what they hoped to get out of this: 1-13 said they wanted power (in reality the head cultist had a hyperfixation on using the spells he used to transcribe the summoning and gather the ingredients and wanted to see what would happen), number 14 was paid to be there; Number 14 was also a little pissed that the people paying her were not doing basic research so that they knew who or what they were summoning. The Cult thought 14 would be an auspicious number.Â
Phantom, now curious, takes a brief interlude (after restraining the other 13) to get more information on 14. She was given $200,000 to be part of the circle. She had a magically binding agreement saying that her soul was not to be offered as payment, that there would be a 5 year moratorium on destroying any planet she happened to be on, and that she could not be targeted directly or indirectly by the cult after they gained power. She was also a former Pre Law Student with an interest in contract law.Â
Phantom recruits her for Justice League Dark, even going as far as calling Zatanna down to take her back to the Watchtower. After she was gone he turned back to still tied up Batfam to apologize. He went to say that Constantine had agreed to go to therapy if they could find a way to fix his Contract/Soul issues, of which there were so many (some of the pieces of his soul had been sold multiple times, other were sold as a larger piece then resold by Constantine in smaller pieces while the contracts for the larger pieces were still active, a half dozen of the âyour soul belongs to me after deathâ type contracts had defaulted on the demon's side before they defaulted on Constantineâs side, one piece of Constantineâs soul-in theory a downpayment on a contract- may or may not have been straight up stolen, then sold by a metaphysical fence three dimensions over and might be in the soul equivalent of The British Art Museum) and that Phantoms sister has been eagerly waiting to study Constantine psyche under a microscope. So a Pre Law student with an interest in contract law was too good a find to pass up.Â
After untying the Bat fam, Phantom turns to Batman and says that Phantom really does need to figure out how the idiot cultists managed to summon him, so he needed the cultists for a bit to go over what exactly they did and said but after that they could be arrested. One of the remaining cultists, not the head cultist, objected to being sent to prison. Without missing a beat Phantom shrugged and said he could throw anyone who objected into a hell dimension for a while, clarifying a while could be anywhere from three days to the heat death of the universe.Â
The cultists were more cooperative after that.Â
Red Robin suggested that the Bats stay too, since it was also in their best interest to figure out how Damian managed to be an ingredient in Phantomâs summoning. Â
Phantom goes over every step of the preparation, the spell to know the ingredients, the spell to transcribe the summoning, and the words themselves all the while sighing every so often in irritation at the downward spiral of cultists in general.Â
Despite a cacophony of errors including but not limited to:
-Mixing the ingredients for the âpaintâ, which the instructions specifically said to mix on site and only as needed, early and storing it in one of the cultists bedrooms (Phantom:...you know that mix is highly hallucinogenic, right?/Cultist: Is that why Iâve been followed by a pink bunny for the last three days?/ Phantom<sighing>:Yes, that is why you have been followed by a pink bunny for the last three days)Â
-Adding additional runes to the summoning circle, specifically the runes for sacrificing someone (Cultists: The picture of all the other circles had those rune, we figured it was a typo/ Phantom: it wasnât)
-Inverting one of the added runes, which switched the party receiving the power and the party being sacrificed (Phantom: Because of those runes, I am able to eat all your souls for the purpose of powering Batman and his entourage/Batman:Please donât, they all give me enough headaches without getting powers/Phantom:looks like you are all in luck.)
Despite these errors the summoning actually worked exactly as intended. So Robin makes the suggestion that they must have some sort of blood relation. Phantom shrugs and says that he always thought he was an orphan. One of the birds goes âThought?â. Phantom smiles sheepishly and says that his sister thinks that Phantom escaped from a cult, but that he has no memories prior to being found by his parents at age 9. He also wonders how closely related he would have to be to someone to show up as family.
An offer is made to go to the Batcave and check with a DNA test to see how closely related they are, which Phantom accepts. On the way there Spoiler asks how one gets a Half Ghost.Â
Phantom, who is very blase about Death having a near Danny experience, says: Well, you take a 14 year old idiot, yours truly, put him in what he thought was a non working portal to the realm of the dead, add in an accident that caused him to hit the on button that was inexplicably on the inside. And I do mean inexplicably, to this day my parents still donât know why they put the on button there. It turns out having a portal to the dead open on top of and through you has some really weird side effects.  Â
This is a slightly worrying answer but frankly masked heroes/vigilantes donât have a great grasp on normal anyway and Phantom assures them that his parents got much better about lab safety afterwards. This dovetails into a very casual discussion between everyone about what everyone thought was the most painful way to die and which kind of events sucked the most to live through.Â
They get back to the Batcave and Phantom transforms back into Danny (to get the most accurate comparison. Phantom's blood is mainly ectoplasm which would mess with the DNA test, Dannyâs blood still has ectoplasm but much less). Everyone stares at Danny, before Nightwing makes a joke about Robin and Danny sharing a face. Â
At the minor cajoling of Nightwing, supported by Agent A, the Bat Fam unmasks. Danny blinks at them and says to Damian âHey, we do share a face.â
They start the blood test. Everyone is taking bets on how close they are related and from what side. This is all still very casual, very much an air of âwhat a weird coincidenceâ.Â
The blood test comes back twins. Everyone looks at the test, then back at Danny and Damian, then back at the test. Without needing any discussion Bruce runs the test again, despite the fact that the visual clues do indicate it was correct the first time. It still says Twins.Â
Damian is both baffled and a little offended. He did not know he had a twin out there. In theory, if Danny left the League at 9 Damian should have some memories of him. Most of the Bat fam thinks this is another case of Talia being a lying asshole. Cass peers at both Danny and Damian, and signs that something feels strange about the lack of memory (Oracle puts forth the idea that itâs possible they were raised apart in the league. Damian is sure his mother would have told him if he had a twin). At some point magical memory manipulation is brought up and they contact Zatanna (masks having been put back on, though Danny remains in human form), who comes down gushing about the 14th cultist, whose name was Rachel, who was already plowing through Constantine contracts and already found a clause that would let Constantine reclaim one of the shards of his soul. Â
Zatanna is able to find the spell that hid the memories of Danny in Damian's mind. She warns that it looks like it affected more than Damian and breaking it would remove it from everyone who was affected. Damian looked for Dannyâs permission first (as they did not know who or why the spell was cast- it could have been for Dannyâs protection). Danny gave the ok and Zatanna removed the spell. She left quickly so that the Bats and birds would feel comfortable showing their identities again.
The effect was immediate. Damian went pale and teary eyed (due to the spell he was never able to process the âdeathâ of his brother, basically the trauma spent the last eight years festering under the spell) and whispered âDante?â before lunging to pull his twin close. Jason was a little dazed (he had a few memories of seeing the demon twins together, at a distance). Danny, whose amnesia was not because of the spell, was unaffected but still hugged Damian, who was now clutching at his brother and crying.Â
Far away Talia sat straight up from a sound sleep. Her mind flooded with memories of her precious second son. The son who was murdered and has remained unavenged for 8 years. She quickly made arrangements to head toward New Jersey, she would stop and see Damian and invite him on a hunt.Â
It becomes clear quickly that Danny would be staying in the manor for at least the night, Damian did not want to let go of him. He calls his parents and gives them a brief rundown of the situation (was summoned by weird cultist, found blood family-a twin brother and a father, twin brother was bespelled to forget he had a brother and breaking the spell had made him clingy, would be staying in Gotham for a bit).Â
His parents run through a Jazz created set of call and response code phrases to make sure that Danny, and now his brother, were not being held by the cult they presume Danny escaped from. After Danny gives the all clear phrases, Maddie asks to speak with his Biological Father.  Â
Danny hands the phone over to Bruce, where Maddie cheerfully tells him that He and his entire family would be bringing Danny back to Amity Park on Sunday (it was a Thursday, but it was also summer so Danny could stay for a few days) and staying for dinner, that Maddie, Jack, and Jazz all had some concerns about Dannyâs condition when he had been found, that any of Dannyâs siblings (making it clear that this also included anyone Damian considered a sibling) were now one of her children as well and if Bruce was or became a threat to any of her children Maddie would kill him, and should Bruce pass her vibe check they could discuss shared custody of the children. Then, without changing tone, asks how many she should be expecting for dinner on Sunday.Â
Bruce answers and hands the phone back to Danny, reminding himself that he had gone toe to toe with actual Gods, he should not be intimidated by a cheerful voice on a phone. He is also trying not to think about the fact that he had acquired yet another child he had not known about. Not to mention running through everything that Phantom had ever told him and trying to stave off several retroactive panic attacks.
It takes a bit but they get Damian calmed enough that they are able to get everyone upstairs, where Danny ends up sharing with Damian (who is still working through eight years of trauma and panics if Danny is not right there).Â
On Friday, Talia gets in contact with Damian about hunting Danteâs murderer down. Once Damian assures Danny that Talia was not his murderer (as he could now remember them hunting for Danteâs murderer and their combined grief) and did love him, Danny was willing to meet with Talia. The Bat fam insist on going with the twins to meet with their biological mother.Â
Talia takes Danny being there about the same as Damian did. Not even Bruce had ever seen her cry before. She, in her own way, practically begged to be allowed to stay in Gotham with her sons for a bit. Bruce agreed and arranged that she would also go with them to Amity Park to meet Dannyâs family. It also takes Talia about 45 second of thought, now that she is not blinded by rage and grief, to realize that the only person who could have arranged Danteâs murder would have been her Father, and that he was probably the one responsible for their magical memory loss as well. Tim might have his issues with Talia, but he actually hated Raâs more; they started scheming together to help Talia and Damian express their displeasure over his actions.
I do want to note, Danny does not start getting memories of being Dante. Those memories are gone as a result of head injury and trauma. While both Talia and Damian would prefer if Danny remembered them, they are so pleased that he is actually alive, as it were, that they are not pushing him.  Â
When they bring Danny back to Amity Park that Sunday, Jack and Maddie greet all of the âkidsâ (Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, Cass, Duke, Steph, Barbara) with specialized weapons, non lethal but will knock out a human quickly and customized to each child's preferred weapon, hugs, and the family Fudge recipe (which they also give to Alfred) for each of them. Plus gear to prevent being overshadowed and an offer to upgrade all of their current armor and gear. Talia and Maddie, after a quiet heart to heart, got along frighteningly well (there is a brief discussion about Raâs and Maddie increasingly creative threats). Jack gets in loud, delighted conversations with each of his new children, somehow finding a special interest for each of them to ask questions about. Damian is able to step away from Danny for a bit to get into a discussion with Sam, in which everyone decides that they did NOT actually hear the two of them planning some kind of eco terrorism campaign that would end with Lex Luthor broken and crying on the ground. Tucker and Barbara are enthusiastically talking about hacking while Tucker promises to introduce her and Tim to Technus, who would be a huge fan. Jazz is chomping at the bit to put together psyche profiles for each of them so she can be the best sibling possible.Â
At some point Vlad comes in (he had mellowed out once he, Jack, and Maddie got together. It turns out he had been pining for both of them but convinced himself it was only Maddie) and booms that he needs to come meet his brother Bruce. Vlad, knowing exactly how Jack can be, sighs a little and asks how long Bruce Wayne has been his brother. Jack responds cheerfully since he brought Danny back and they realized he was Danny Biological father (Maddie had not asked Bruces name nor any identifying information during her threatening phone call. Jazz despaired).
I think it would be very funny, after the trope of Batman/Bruces Adoption thing, that the entire bat fam is forcibly but cheerfully adopted by the small mid western family, their close friends, and a very haunted town.

Happiness -Simon 'Ghost' Riley

---- F!Reader, angst, divorce, ex-husband!Simon, dad!Simon ----
A/N: Blaming the talented writers on here that wrote on ex-husband!Simon a while back for this
Ten years, eight of them lived as his wife and four of them as the mother to his child. Now, you and he sit on the stools of the kitchen island, tears in both your eyes as you two come to terms that your marriage is over. No one cheated, no one was toxic but the one thing that they couldn't see coming was that sometimes, love runs out. He and you stopped doing all the cute stuff together, it became stale and dead. "I'm so sorry," he whispers, holding your hand as you look down crying. "I guess it happens," you whisper back. But it shouldn't have. Not to you and not to him.Â
You were supposed to grow old together, watch your child grow old, measure his height by the door frame, and watch Simon give his advice for when your son gets his first girlfriend. It was a plan, to sit by the fireplace when you'd both enter your fifties, reminisce on the past and laugh at the cringe things you both did when young. "I'll make sure the divorce goes smooth, I'll...find a place and visit every day. I swear to be the best at...co-parenting," he says with care. "I know, Simon," you grip his hand.Â
It's a bittersweet moment, nearly five years ago, you sat him down in this exact place and held his hand with teary eyes as you told him you were pregnant. "Oh...oh my love, I'm going to be a dad!" The kiss he gave you knowing romance films would never compare to that kiss. Now, as you sit in silence, you can't help but cry a different kind of tears. Ten years of your life spent with him spent loving and getting to know him. They say, that to love is to know someone and you know and love him very well so, that is how you find yourself hugging him. Simon's hold on you is so hard yet filled with sadness and care.Â
"I love you!" you laugh as you run around the sofa. Simon chasing you and laughing. He had started it, the 'I love you more' competition and when you whispered, 'I love you best' he began to tickle you. "If you say I win, I'll stop tickling you," he laughs. "Never!" your laughter loud as you try and push him off. "Very well then, lovely," he chuckles. After one push, that is where you find yourself running around the home you built with him.Â
As you walk past the now cold sofa, you picture that night. Picture the mornings, days, afternoons and midnights where he and you kissed, cuddled, shared secrets, tears and laughs. What a sour taste did it bring to you. "I'll always love you," you whisper to the memory. Simon is out the door and on the road, finding someplace to stay for the night. In moments like these, he would seek for you but now, he must learn to be strong without you, something rather hard.Â
[6 Months later]
A knock on your door as Simon comes to pick up your son. "It's opened!" you call out from the kitchen. His little boy, running to the door and smiling. "Daddy!" the young boy smiles and reaches for him, the image in front of you, melting your heart as you watch father and son share a moment. Your heart aches. Why didn't you fight? Cry and beg for him to think it through? No, but you want him to be happy and if he was unhappy in your marriage then you can't for him to stay or love you.Â
It's been nine days since the divorce was finalised, you nor he told any of your friends. Kept it all to yourselves and went through grief alone. You drink wine alone in the afternoons now, he watches shit comedy specials alone. And when either of you turns to the side he or you occupied, the feeling comes back. No more shit-talking about the comedian, no more asking for another glass of wine. What if he is someone you'll never move on from? What if you're someone he never mentions?Â
What if you two were blind and it wasn't that love ran out?
Fuck...why must this hurt.
"R/N, y'alright?" his voice interrupts you.Â
No, I'm not and I miss you like never before. I miss your kisses, your whispers and your dirty jokes. I miss your mornings, I miss our mornings. Love me, please...please love me.Â
"Yeah, sorry, I was just trying to remember my schedule today," your voice soft. He nods, "Yeah, well, me and the lad will be out. Call you if needed and call me if you need me." He says before leaving through the door. "Mm-hmm," you play bravely and watch him leave. As you sit on the sofa, you cry. You can't let him leave, not when you have poems, love letters and sweet nothings to tell him. Not when you still want to share your life with him. You walk to the door and go for the handle but hesitate.Â
What if he moved on? What if he loves another?
[Simon's POV]
I step out, buckle my kid in and as I hear him laugh, I remember his second favourite toy is still in her home. Will she let me back in? Can she?... Now I'm wondering if she ever cared. Why did I fight for her? Why must I let her leave so easily? What if my love finds some man who tries to play house with my son and my girl? No, fuck that it won't happen. As I reach for her front door, I stop. My R/N, why must you feel so far and yet feel so close to me?Â
Don't be stupid, she probably moved on. It's been six months, surely she is fine. But if she isn't? Then, I can still be the shoulder she leans on, I can be the chest she cries in, "Daddy, let's go!" Fuck, that's right.Â
On the drive to the park, my mind wanders to her. Her smile, the way she was insecure of the stretch marks but she would fluster when I kissed them. Ten years ago, I met her in this park, kissed her here, walked with her here when she was pregnant and watched our son take his first steps here. Now, I walk with my son but not with her by my side. A woman approaches, me, we talk and soon after I leave. R/N must be home or out. I wonder if she still sings her makeup steps when getting ready.Â
Does she still remember how I kissed her? How did my body feel against hers? I wonder if she misses me like how I miss her. Does she want to kiss me? Get back together? I hope no other guy wins her heart like I did. I hope no guy knows she loves to be kissed when her favourite song comes up and how she loves it when dirty jokes are told to her in whispers. I hope no guy watches her dance in a dress and adores her, those curves she got when she became a mother, the smile and the laugh when she gets nervous.Â
I wonder if she knows I know her better than anyone. That my love beats any movie on the screen. I read all her favourite books so she'd think I was cool or that I read them to do the things the characters did and watch her fall for me more. Why didn't I tell her that day that I wasn't falling out of love but rather I was scared she would leave me? Fuck..
"Simon?" her delicate voice. If the heavens could speak, she would be the voice of them. "Sorry, I..." tell her you fool! Tell her you love her, that you miss her lips, her wit, her clumsiness and how she gives you a puppy stare when she can't reach the top shelf. "Yeah...uh, I forgot his...uh...his other toy and he has been asking about it." FUCKING COWARD!
[Your POV]
It was earlier than expected but he brought your son home earlier than usual. "I'll go get it for you," you say and walk upstairs. Meanwhile, he looks at the photos at the entrance. What were once photos of you three are now you and your son. "Here it is," you say as you hand him the toy. "Thanks, love," he mumbles as he leaves once more. Before you can close the door, "Simon?" your voice with hope. "Yes?" he turns around, a faint smile on him. Oh those eyes, his beautiful eyes. "...drive safe..." you want to mentally slap yourself. "Yes, love," he nods and walks back to his car.Â
To build a home, to walk away and to miss it. Simon Joseph Riley and R/N...formally R/N Riley, now miss home. A home that was found in each other's arms.Â

Lucky Strike đŻ đ± - PRESENT - III
PREVIOUS CHAPTER
Pairing: Benny Cross (Bikeriders) X Reader
Summary: You and Benny reconnect and learn a little about your lives here and now.
Warning: Allusions to troubled pasts and excessive alcoholism.
Word count: 2K
Heart racing, Benny drives the speed limit for once in his life. He prays against seeing any cops on the way to the cemetery. There was no time to wear anything aside from his colours to make the funeral, to see you. He didnât know if there would be another chance to see you in person. After the reaction from the guys he wanted to see your transformation for himself. Approaching the gates he slows to a stop looking at the old cemetery gates, the vision of something from a horror film. Rows of wooden crosses and poorly made headstones. A final resting place for those who didnât accumulate enough wealth to end their time in a nice place. A touch too nice of a final resting place for the man being buried but alas it wasnât his choice to make. Getting off his bike he waits at the gates instead of causing a commotion. Looking across the flatland Benny finds a small congregation of people and hears a wailing woman. The people pass heading into cars shakily with a few men leaving you there looking onto the plot of dirt. Benny didnât understand why youâd come all this way. Your father had been a monster and you knew that intimately. The cars clear out and the people disperse before Benny makes his way to your side. There are whispers and looks as he walks on the gravel road. He finds you looking down at the freshly tossed on the ground where your boogieman is being laid to rest. He knows itâs you because unlike everyone else youâre dressed to the nines. You smile knowing its him at the sight of worn boots next to your shoes. Nothing needs to be said, you rest your head on his shoulder and his hand finds yours instinctively.
âGood riddanceâ you mutter tossing the final carnation into his grave.
âY/N?â The call comes from behind you. Letting go of Benny you turn to see the woman that sent for you. Your fathers new wife, the woman he decided to settle down with once the liver failure set in.
âWeâre gonna head to the reception now.â Carla says looking Benny over with judgement and confusion. âHelloâ she says only to get a nod from your oldest friend.
âGo onâ you smile ignoring your grandmothers prying eyes along with everyone else whoâd enabled your fathers deplorable behaviour making excuses for an abusive drunk.
âYou came with us rememberâ Carla smiles.
âI know my way aroundâ you mutter and reluctantly they leave before you take your first look at Benny. Smiling you see heâs grown out of the awkwardness and is even more gorgeous in person. Heâs breathtaking. You throw yourself at him unable to contain your excitement and Benny catches you lifting you off the ground as he holds you tight spinning you around. You laugh and squeal like a kid again overwhelmed to see him alive and well.
âSo youâre an outlaw now?â You smile pinching his cheek and pulling away to get a better look at him.
âYeahâ he smiles from ear to ear. There you are holding onto each others hands again like before your mothers ripped you a part.
âYou look good in leatherâ you laugh touching his kutte.
âYou just look goodâ Benny laughs and itâs a wonder heâs as gorgeous as he is.
âThanksâ you beam starry eyed, happy to have found him again all these years later. âItâs really youâ you laugh and Benny nods as you hold onto his arms.
âAnd itâs youâ he says kissing your forehead in a warm gesture. Thereâs another hug, this one less hyperactive but just as meaningful.
âSo it was you who posted my bail?â Benny asks.
âI donât know what youâre talking aboutâ you lie but Benny knows better.
âWhat happened to our truth truce?â Benny asks bringing back fond memories.
âI saw you on TV and went down the the precinct,â you confess.
âThank you, Iâll send you the moneyâ he says far out of his depths.
âI wouldnât be alive if it werenât for you. The moneyâs nothingâ you respond holding his hand. Every good memory from your childhood is with Benny. And thatâs worth way more to you than $250 you wouldâve spent carelessly.
âSo what youâre hit the lottery?â He asks.
âMy Ma did. Sheâs married to an old guy whoâs very well off. He has no daughters and always wanted one.â You explain.
âYou married?â Benny asks.
âWill be next valentines dayâ you tell Benny but your smile doesnât touch your eyes.
âHe a good man?â Benny asks.
âDecent, comes from a good family and makes good money. He works a lot so I have a lot of freedom. Itâs niceâ you smile.
âDoesnât sound like youâre in loveâ Benny comments as you arrive at his bike.
âThink any of them would love me if they knew I came from this?â You ask looking around at the dead end cemetery in a dead end town. âI donât have the privilege of being delusional to how the world works Benny. Besides what would someone like me know about love?â you ask tickled. It was like old times so fast.Â
âI thought thatâs what women do all day, daydream about love and marriageâ Benny shrugs and you scoff.
âDonât think Bennyâ you laugh shaking your head as you look him over again. The pull to him is so magnetic. He smiles at your playful jab and you walk into his arms again.
âI donât muchâ he confesses holding you tight. He kisses the top of your head taking in your perfume.
âI missed you Bennyâ you confess looking up at him.
âI missed you too. How long are you here?â Benny asks.
âA week, the folks brought me down here to run me dry and have me pay off the drunks deptsâ you explain.
Benny raises a brow,âWhoâs he owe?â
âCouple of bars,â you shake your head at how nothing had changed.
âIâll take care of itâ Benny promises sitting on his bike. You look him over again and it makes you smile that heâs alright. You hug him again overwhelmed by how happy you are to see him.
âBenny, Iâve missed you so much.â You repeat his arms again, in your whole life thereâd never been a person like Benny. He was your right hand, he always fought for you, stood with you, made you feel safe. Its something even riches canât compare to. âTell me everything!â Your excitement is contagious and Bennyâs eyes sparkle.
âWhat about the reception?â He asks.
âIâm not going. Iâm happy heâs dead - better off that wayâ you confess making Benny smile.
âHow are you gonna ride in a dress?â Benny asks pointing to his bike. Rolling your eyes you get on making use of the length and space for your legs in the a line dress. When you're comfortable Benny tries withholding his smile as he gets on. âDonât let goâ he says challenging you.
He starts the engine and then tears off. Letting go you throw your hands off and scream out in excitement. The two of you had been kindreds and no stranger to living on the edge together. You have more to live for than the average person after spending your childhood terrified and powerless. Benny finds himself laughing at your bravery, admiring that you were fearless too or that you just trusted him. When you arrive at the clubhouse there are a slew of bikes parked out front. You're sure your hair is in a state and you manage to fix in Bennyâs rearview mirrors. The guys whistle some more until Benny shoots them glares that says take it easy.
âLook whoâs backâ Johnny smiles.
âIâve never been around so many degenerates,â you comment making the boys hush. You laugh at their sensitivity when they all get serious. â You ought to show me how you really party!â you smile at Johnny encouraging the bad behaviour. The boys hoot and holler bringing on the drinks and debauchery. Billiards, darts, drinking games you name it theyâre partaking with the exception of Johnny. Wild as they think they are, the boys have nothing on the party boys at college with the exception of metal and leather. You enjoy their company and the clubs camaraderie. They try to impress you but none of them could ever mean anything more than friendship to your heart. Benny watches as you embrace all of the Vandals, laughing and talking with them. Encouraging their drinking games, listening to their stories and not playing too precious. He watches from afar giving you space as you trow a few shots back. His heart grew warm seeing you smiling and carefree. On the outside no one would ever expect youâve come from what you did. But you donât rest on those laurels, embracing the good and disposing of the bottom. You have no airs and graces and Benny admires that. When the nights over you can barely walk in a straight line, for once - Bennyâs as sober as a judge.
âTake my carâ Johnny tells Benny tossing him the keys, knowing the back of a bike is unsafe for you right now. âYou're a real treat Y/N, pleasure to meet youâ Johnny says shaking your hand.
âLikewise and take care of Bennyâ you sway a little before getting in.
âWe will, take care loveâ Johnny smirks shutting your door.
The minute the car pulls off the motion is too much and you hurl out the window.
âDrive!!!!â You shout between your retching. You donât want the guys to see you weak. Benny drives until you can turn a corner and youâre finally finished. The consequences of your actions have wasted no time. Benny removes his leather and then takes off his t-shirt before using it to clean off your face and the back of your wrist with an amused smirk.
âFirst time drinking?â He asks as you sit on the curb.
âLike that, YEAH!â you confess and he chuckles having a seat beside you. If heâd been a dreamer even his dreams couldnât have imagined you to be any better. Looking him over you see heâs got defined muscles now and an impressive frame.
âHow are you feelingâ he asks after sitting with you for a few minutes. Looking up at the streetlights you sigh deeply before looking back at Benny.
âLike Iâve been holding my breath for all these years and I can finally exhaleâ you confess. Taking your hand Benny kisses it with understanding eyes before pulling you in against his warm skin on the hot summer night. The slow steady beat of his heart, synced perfectly with yours is proof he knows exactly how you feel.
âCome on letâs get you back to the hotelâ he mumbles getting up before he can help you. He gets the passenger door for you shutting it when you get in. The ride to the hotel feels too short and you sit in the car silent for a few moments before reaching for the door.
âDo you have somewhere to be?â You ask Benny.
âNoâ he shakes his head and you nod holding out a hand. He gets looks again as he holds your hand heading into the hotelâs fancy elevator. Your room is up high and heâs never seen a view like that. You open the fridge and get him a soda before calling room service to order burgers and dogs. Benny looks around feeling insecure as he sees your normal. He gets the food from the door while you freshen up from your sickness on the way. When you return without any make-up or finery his heart swells.Â
âWhat?â
âYouâre gorgeousâ Benny compliments.
âThanks, Bennyâ you smile having a fry. âNow tell me everythingâ you say again and he does. You talk about everything in your life until sunrise when you fall asleep together on the hotel rooms kingsized bed.
Authors Note: Thanks so much for readingđ©” đ ! Don't forget to comment, like and reblog.
FOR FUN what was your favorite moment? Mine was when Benny took the shirt off his back to clean you up. Thats a special king of love and closeness. Which one was your fav?

You and Dean decided that after your last job, you deserved a break. You went to a bar to play that eight-ball game youâd talked about back in Ankeny. The two of you were pretty evenly matched; you had to admit. He would win a game, then you would win a game, and that pattern continued for quite a bit. Then youâd swapped to nine-ball. The two of you walked away from the pool tables and found a table when youâd grown tired of playing with each other.
âIâll admit, youâre pretty good, Winchester,â you told him.
âYou too, sweetheart,â he responded, chuckling.Â
âYouâre never gonna stop calling me that, are you?â you asked.
âNope.â
You pretended to be annoyed and rolled your eyes. âYou suck.â
âYou, too.â
You playfully glared at him.Â
âYou hustle?â he asked you.
âDuh,â you responded, taking a swig of your beer.Â
He chuckled. âHow âbout it? Iâm low on cash after I paid off that morgue tech.â
âHey, you did that on your own volition,â you joked back. âNobody forced you to pay him off. And maybe you lost even more cash after you lost that poker game to me yesterday.â
He glared back at you. âIâll get you next time.â
âSure. So whoâre you hustlinâ?â you asked.
He scanned the room for a moment. âThem.â He subtly nodded in the direction of a group of guys who looked around your and Deanâs age. They seemed kind of douchey, and youâd love to watch Dean kick their asses if you were being honest.Â
âEight or nine ball?â you asked him.
âNine.â
âOoh, good luck,â you told him.
âI wonât need it,â he answered arrogantly and began heading over to the group.Â
Your newfound friendship with Dean was slightly difficult for you due to your unbelievable attraction to him. The more you got to know him the more you began to like him for more than just his beautiful face. But you knew neither of you had the time for anything more than friendship, especially considering you knew youâd be hitting the road as soon as they found their dad. You chose not to focus on the finite amount of time you had with the Winchester boys and just enjoy it while it lasted.Â
As much as you tried to push the thought away, you couldnât deny that watching him hustle pool made you even more attracted to him.Â
âCute,â you told Dean sarcastically when he walked back over to your table waving a wad of cash in the air. âBut I betcha I can get us double the money.â You snatched his money out of his hands.Â
âHey!â he said. âI earned that.â
âAnd Iâll earn it back,â you smirked over your shoulder.Â
He quirked a brow at you as you âdrunkenlyâ walked away, watching you head over to a pool table surrounded by another group of young guys.Â
You wore a black tank top that showed off your cleavage, and stuck Deanâs money in the top of your bra while you sauntered over to the pool table. A tall blonde guy holding a cue stick was surrounded by his frat-boy posse hollering about how good the blonde guy played.Â
âFifty dollars to play!â One of the boys yelled.
âIâll play,â you piped up, looking down at the table set for nine-ball.
You pulled some cash out of the top of your bra and placed it on the rim of the pool table.Â
âUh, sweetheart,â the blond began, âThatâs only twenty.â
âOh, sorry,â you snorted out a laugh, putting thirty dollars on the table.Â
âSheâs hammered, dude,â one of the blondâs friends told him.
The blond waved him off, still looking over you. He handed you a pool cue with a smirk.Â
âYou break.â
You fumbled with the cue before lining up your shot. After you hit the cue ball, you allowed the wooden stick to slip clumsily out of your hands. The balls flew all over the table in different directions because you had struck them so hard. However, you had not managed to pocket a single one.Â
The blond lined up his shot. Managing to keep the dopey look on your face, you mentally smirked at his amateur hand bridge. This guy would be easy to beat. With his friends cheering him on, he pocketed the yellow one-ball but missed the shot he took at the nine-ball. The nine-ball was in the perfect position for you to win on your next two shots, but you were not going for the big bucks just yet.
âYour turn, baby,â the blond told you.Â
You resisted the urge to cringe at the nickname. You had never liked being called âbaby.â
Instead, you gave him a wide smile, walking up to the cue ball. You went to aim for the four-ball, but the blond stopped you.Â
âWhat are you doing?â
âAiming for the pretty purple ball,â you replied innocently. âAm I doing something wrong?â
âYou have to aim for the two-ball. You ever even played before?â he asked jokingly.
âNo,â you smiled.
He was not expecting that answer to his jest, his face dropping out of the smile. âThen why are you playing for money?â
âI thought you were cute and wanted to play with you.âÂ
The blond smirked down at you.Â
Before he could respond, you said, âCâmon! I wanna keep playing. This is fun.â You lined up and hit the two ball, knocking it only a little bit closer to the pocket than the blond had gotten it.Â
He ended up sinking the two-ball and then the nine-ball after that, his friends cheering for him. He took the money off the table. âMaybe next time.â
âOoh, can we play again? Please?â you whined.Â
He looked around at his friends. They all shrugged.Â
You took all of the money out of your bra, including fifty dollars of your own to compensate for the fifty you just lost. You did promise Dean you would double the amount he had earned, after all.Â
The blond laughed nervously. âUh, thatâs a lot more than fifty dollars.â
âIs it?â you pretended you were surprised. âOh, well. Weâll just play for whatever this is, then.â
One of the blondâs friends, a brunet, was already counting the money. âThis is three-hundred dollars, man.â
âLook, youâre really drunk. Thatâs a lot of money,â the blond said. âLetâs just stop.â
âNo,â you begged, âplease? Itâll be fine!â
He finally conceded, collecting a total of three hundred dollars between himself and his friends.Â
On the break, he hit the one-ball and the five-ball ended up falling into the left side pocket. However, on the shot he took at the nine-ball, he missed.Â
You hit the two-ball, sank it, and clapped excitedly. You aimed for the three-ball next, hitting it between the right side and back pockets. The ball hit the wall and stopped only two inches off of it, giving the blond no shot at sinking it on his next turn.Â
He ended up pushing the three-ball and the cue ball into the perfect position for you to hit the red ball into the hole. Once you sank the three-ball, you lined up the cue behind the cue ball and hit the nine-ball into one of the pockets. Blondie and his friends stood there slack-jawed.Â
âI won!â you cheered, giggling. You gave Blondie a kiss on the cheek when you took your money.Â
You walked back over to Dean with your hips swishing confidently. Smirking, you held up your winnings.Â
He took them from your hands, counting the money. âDamn. Iâm impressed.â
You feigned shock. âDean Winchester? Impressed by something I did?â
âCan it, (Y/N).â
You walked outside of the bar with Dean at your side. You waved the money in your hand back and forth triumphantly as you approached the Impala that Sam sat atop flipping through newspapers. He looked disapproving. âYâknow, we could get day jobs once in a while.â
"Hunting's our day job,â you countered.Â
âYeah, and the pay is crap,â Dean added.Â
âAmen.â
âYeah, but hustling pool? Credit card scams? It's not the most honest thing in the world, guys,â the younger brother argued.
âWell, let's see, honestââ Dean began, and you held out one hand palm-up for âhonest,â ââFun and easy,â he finished.
You held out the other hand, representing a scale, tipping it to the side of âfun and easy.âÂ
âIt's no contest,â you shrugged.Â
âBesides, we're good at it. It's what we were raised to do,â Dean added.
Sam was still not convinced. âYeah, well, how we were raised was jacked.â
âYeah, says you,â sassed Dean. âWe got a new gig or what?â
âMaybe. Oasis Plains, Oklahomaâ not far from here. A gas company employee, Dustin Burwash, supposedly died from Creutzfeldt-Jakob.â
âGesundheit,â you commented.
âHuman mad cow disease.â Sam shot you a playful glare.Â
âMad cow. Wasn't that on Oprah?â Dean asked.
âYou watch Oprah?â you responded.
The older brother looked embarrassed and couldnât think of anything to say. He decided to change the subject. âSo this guy eats a bad burger. Why is it our kind of thing?â
âMad cow disease causes massive brain degeneration. It takes months, even years, for the damage to appear. But this guy, Dustin? Sounds like his brain disintegrated in about an hour. Maybe less,â Sam stated.
You nodded slowly. âOh-kay, that is weird.â
âYeah. Now, it could be a disease. Or it could be somethin' much nastier,â Sam told you.
âAlright. Oklahoma,â Dean said, beginning to get in the car. You and Sam followed suit. âMan. Work, work, work,â the older Winchester sighed. âNo time to spend my money.â
âYou mean our money,â you said, handing him three hundred. You kept the other three.Â
âRight.â He put the money in his wallet and began driving off.Â
***
Dean had driven you to the gas and power company the deceased had worked at. You approached a man with shaggy hair and a scruffy chin who you had learned from another employee was the man who discovered Dustinâs dead body.
âTravis Weaver?â Sam called.
âYeah, that's right.â The man turned to you.
âAre you the Travis who worked with Uncle Dusty?â Dean asked.
âDustin never mentioned nephews. Or a niece,â he responded.
âReally? Well, he sure mentioned you. He said you were the greatest.â
You nodded, affirming Deanâs lie.
Travis smiled sadly. âOh, he did? Huh.â
âI hate to ask you, but⊠what exactly happened out there?â you asked.
âI'm not sure. He fell in a sinkhole, I went to the truck to get some rope, and, uh... by the time I got backâŠâ he trailed off, face contorting in discomfort.
âWhat did you see?â Dean questioned.
Travis shook his head. âNothin'. Just Dustin.â
âNo wounds or anything?â Sam chimed in.
âWell, he was bleeding... from his eyes and his ears, his nose. But that's it.â
âSo you think it could be this whole mad cow thing?â Dean asked.
âI don't know. That's what the doctors are sayin'.â
âI donât know, it just doesnât feel right to me,â you added. âUncle Dusty just never acted like that to me.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âWell, if it was, he wouldâve acted like he had dementia, a loss of motor control, you ever notice anything like that?â you asked.
âNo. No way. But then again, if it wasn't some disease, what the hell was it?âÂ
âThat's a good question,â Dean responded.
âYou know, can you tell us where this happened?â Sam asked.
Travis nodded. He instructed Dean the path to follow in order to find the scene of the incident. Surrounding the sinkhole he had fallen in was police tape, but the neighborhood it was in seemed mostly uninhabited except for a few construction workers milling about.
âHuh.â Dean looked down into the hole. âWhat do you think?â
âI don't know. But if that guy, Travis, was right, it happened pretty damn fast,â Sam responded.
You ducked under the tape and looked down into the hole with a flashlight.Â
âSo, what? Some sort of creature chewed on his brain?â Deanâs face scrunched up in confusion.Â
You shook your head. âNo, there'd be an entry wound. Sounds like this thing worked from the inside.â
âLooks like there's only room for one,â Dean commented. âHate to say it, sweetheart, youâre gonna have to get down there.â
You flinched back. âWhat? No. We have no idea whatâs down there.â
He picked up a nearby coil of rope. âAlright, I'll go if you're scared. You scared?â
âNo. Dick.â Your stubbornness would not let you back down despite the genuine fear clawing at your throat. When you were younger, your father would often starve you to ensure you could fit into small spaces such as the hole you were about to journey down. You had no doubt you wouldâve grown taller than 5â6â had he not done this. Even still, you mustered your courage. âI'm going.â
âI said I'd go,â Dean argued.
âI'm going,â you pressed, taking the end of the rope from him. You tied it around your waist. âDonât drop me.â
âI wonât.â
âSam, donât let him drop me.â
Sam chuckled.
âWhat?â Dean sounded offended. âYou donât trust me?â
âNope,â you smiled, clambering down into the hole. It took a moment for your eyes to adjust, but when they did, you were surprised by what youâd found.
Dean drove, and Sam was examining the dead beetle youâd found in the sinkhole. Some bugs you could handle, but beetles were not one you could spend prolonged periods of time looking at.Â
âSo you found some beetles. In a hole, in the ground. That's shocking, (Y/N),â Dean quipped.
You shook your head. âDude, no. There were no tunnels, no tracks, nothing. No evidence of any other creature down there.â
âYou know,â Sam added, âsome beetles do eat meat. Now, it's usually dead meat, butâŠâ
âHow many did you find down there?â Dean asked you.
âTen.â
âIt'd take a whole lot more than that to eat out some dude's brain, Sam.â
âWell, maybe there were more,â his brother argued.
âI don't know, it sounds like a stretch to me,â Dean responded.
âWell, we need more information on the area, the neighborhood. Whether something like this has ever happened before,â you added. A sign advertising an open house decorated with red balloons caught your eye.
Sam was looking back at you. âWhat?â
âThere.â You pointed to the sign.Â
You passed another that read, âModels Open. New Buyers' BBQ Today!"
âI'm kinda hungry for a little barbeque, how 'bout you?â Dean remarked.
Sam gave him a look.
âWhat, we can't talk to the locals?â
You snickered. âAnd the free food's got nothin' to do with it?â
âOf course not. I'm a professional.â
His brother rolled his eyes. âRight.â
Dean pulled over and the three of you got out of the car to walk toward the open house.
âGrowin' up in a place like this would freak me out,â Dean remarked.
âDitto,â you said.
âWhy?â Sam looked at the two of you like you were crazy.Â
âManicured lawns, âHow was your day, honey?â I'd blow my brains out,â Dean chuckled.
âWhite picket fence,â you sing-songed, âprivate school, stay-at-home moms with three snotty childrenâ no thanks.â
âThere's nothing wrong with ânormal,â â Sam rebutted.
âI'd take our family over normal any day,â the older Winchester said. He approached the house and knocked on the door.Â
A man in a steamed collared shirt opened the door. âWelcome,â he said.
âThis the barbeque?â Dean asked.
âYeah, not the best weather,â he replied, referencing the gray sky, âbut... I'm Larry Pike, the developer here. And you are... ?â
âDean. This is Sam and (Y/N).â He shook Larryâs hand.
âSam, Dean, (Y/N), good to meet you. So, you three are interested in Oasis Plains?â
âYes, sir,â the older brother responded.
âLet me just sayââ You had no idea where Larry was going with thisâ âwe accept homeowners of any race, religion, color, or... sexual orientation.â
You realized what he was trying to say. âTheyâre brothers. Iâm just a friend.â
Larry nodded and seemed slightly embarrassed.
âOur father is getting on in years,â Sam explained, âand we're just lookin' for a place for him.â
Larry laughed awkwardly âGreat, great. Well, seniors are welcome, too. Come on in.â He guided you to the backyard where dozens of people were chatting and eating. âEighteen months ago, I was walking this valley with my survey team. There was nothing here but scrub brush and squirrels. And you know what, we built such a nice place to live that I actually bought into it myself. This is our house. We're the first family in Oasis Plains.â He brought you over to a woman around his age. âThis is my wife, Joanie.â
âHi there,â she smiled.
Larry introduced the three of you to her before saying, âTell them how much you love the place, honey. And lie if you have to because I need to sell some houses.â
She laughed. âRight.â
This painfully fake interaction you were having reeked of Middle America. It was making you sick.Â
Larry left you alone with Joanie who said, âDon't let his salesman routine scare you. This really is a great place to live.â
A very energetic woman with bright, Ariel-red hair pulled back in a tight bun approached your group. âHi, I'm Lynda Bloome, head of sales,â she grinned.
âAnd Lynda was second to move in,â Joanie went on. âShe's a very noisy neighbor, though.â
Even Lyndaâs laugh was obnoxious. âShe's kidding, of course. I take it you three are interested in becoming homeowners.â
Before any of you could answer, she said, âWell, let me just say that we accept homeowners of any race, religion, color, or... sexual orientation.â
Dean chuckled. âRight. Um... I'm gonna go talk to Larry.â Dean began walking away. âOkay, honeys?â He smacked you on your ass as he left.
You nearly yelped in surprise. The rest of your interaction with Lynda became very awkward. You were barely interested in what she was saying about the various features of the home. âWho can say "no" to a steam shower? I use mine everyday.â
You nodded, forcing a smile. âSounds great.â
Sam noticed something just beyond her, saying, âExcuse me,â and pushing her out of the way. What he had picked up off the picnic table was a large tarantula. You noticed a snickering boy with shaggy brown hair a few feet behind where Lynda had been standing.Â
Sam walked over to the boy. âIs this yours?â
The boy took the spider from him. âYou gonna tell my dad?â
âI don't know. Who's your dad?â
The teen scoffed. âYeah, Larry usually skips me in the family introductions.â
You sucked air in through your teeth. âOuch. First name basis with your dadâ sounds pretty grim.â
âWell, I'm not exactly brochure material,â the kid remarked.
âWell, hang in there. It gets better, all right? I promise,â Sam said.
The kid didnât seem convinced. âWhen?â
You heard Larry call the name, âMatthew!â You turned to see the older man and Dean walking toward you.
âI am so sorry about my son and his... pet.â
âClearly thereâs some issues there.â
You shook your head. âNo big.â
âExcuse us.â Larryâs face was set and hardened, pulling his son away from you and the boys.
âRemind you of somebody?â Sam asked his brother. He was gesturing toward the arguing father and son. âDad?â
âDad never treated us like that,â Dean argued.
âWell, Dad never treated you like that. You were perfect. He was all over my case. You don't remember?â
âWell, maybe he had to raise his voice, but sometimes, you were out of line.â
Sam scoffed. âRight. Right, like when I said I'd rather play soccer than learn bowhunting.â
âBowhunting's an important skill,â Dean replied. You agreed with him, but chose to say out of the brotherly debate.
âWhatever. How was your tour?â Sam asked.
Dean turned on the sarcasm. âOh, it was excellent. I'm ready to buy. So you might be onto somethin'. Looks like Dustin Burwash wasn't the first strange death around here.â
âWhat happened?â you questioned.
âAbout a year ago, before they broke ground, one of Larry's surveyors dropped dead while on the job. Get this severe allergic reaction to bee stings.â
You nodded. âMore bugs.â
***
Later that evening, Sam was driving you and Dean through the neighborhood. You put your head on Deanâs shoulder over the back of the front seat as he flipped through his fatherâs journal. He had looked at you strangely and tensed up when youâd first rested your head on him, but you just shrugged in response. To your surprise, he allowed you to stay there.
âYou know, I've heard of killer bees, but killer beetles?â Dean shook his head. âWhat is it that could make different bugs attack?â
âWell, hauntings sometimes include bug manifestations,â Sam replied.
âYeah, but I didn't see any evidence of ghost activity,â the older brother said, referring to his house tour.
âMe neither,â you added.
âMaybe they're being controlled somehow. You know, by something or someone,â Dean stated.
âYou mean, like Willard?â Sam chuckled.
âYeah, bugs instead of rats.â
âThere are cases of psychic connections between people and animals - elementals, telepaths,â Sam continued.
âYeah, that whole Lassie thing,â you commented. You were thoughtful for a moment. âLarry's kidâ he's got bugs for pets.â
âMatt?â Sam seemed unconvinced. âHe did try to scare the realtor with a tarantula.â
âYou think he's our Willard?â
âI don't know. Anything's possible, I guess.â
Something caught Deanâs attention. âOoh, hey. Pull over here.â
Your head perked up.Â
Sam pulled into the empty driveway of one of the Oasis Plains homes. âWhat are we doing here?â
Dean got out of the car and began pulling the garage door up and open. âIt's too late to talk to anybody else.â
Sam scoffed. âWe're gonna squat in an empty house?â
âI wanna try the steam shower. Come on,â his brother responded simply.
Sam didnât move.Â
âCome on!â Dean urged.
Sam rolled his eyes but complied and pulled into the driveway. Dean closed it behind him.
To your surprise, the home was fully furnished. You assumed it was for staging house tours. You and the boys were thankful to find three beds within the home, avoiding the awkward task of deciding who was going to have to sleep with who. And for the first time in quite a while, you slept incredibly well on the soft mattress and plush pillows.
***
The next morning, you found Sam remaking the bed he had slept in down the hall from yours. He had the police scanner quietly droning on in the background.
âHowâd you sleep?â you asked, yawning.
âHow do you think,â he replied dryly.
âThatâs what I was worried about.â
Sam sighed.
âDude, we gotta get you right,â you told him. âYouâre gonna end up really hurt.â
Before he could respond, the static of the police scanner coming alight with conversation caught your attention. Male voices spoke back and forth about a death that happened in what you recognized as the Oasis Plains area.
âYou finish cleaning up; Iâll get Dean,â you told Sam, who nodded. Dean had been serious about indulging in the steam shower. Heâd been in the guest bathroom since you woke up that morning.
âYou ever comin' out of there?â you called through the door.
âWhat?â he responded.
You could still hear the water running. âA call came in on the scanner.â
âHold on.â
âSomeone was found dead three blocks from here. Come on.â
The door opened a bit to reveal Dean and his towel-wrapped head. Steam poured out into the hallway. âThis shower is awesome,â he smiled.
You laughed in response. âCome on.â You walked away to finish helping Sam gather your things and hide the fact that someone had been here.Â
When you arrived at the crime scene, a body bag was being wheeled out on a stretcher. You found out from a visibly upset Larry that the realtor, Lynda Bloome, had been the one to pass away. The three of you discovered about a dozen dead spiders underneath a towel near where the outline of her body had been mapped out, and decided to pay Matt a visit.Â
It took a few hours, but you discovered where Matt went to school and followed his bus route. You watched when he got off the bus.
âIsn't his house that way?â Dean pointed in the opposite direction of where Matt was walking.Â
You nodded. âYup. So whereâs he goinâ?â
The three of you began following the teenager from a bit of a distance. Unfortunately for you, he headed into the woods.Â
âSeriously, kid?â you muttered. âAlways the fucking woods.â
Dean chuckled at your discomfort.Â
âShut up, asshole,â you quipped.
Sam approached Matt first. âHey, Matt. Remember me?â
âWhat are you doin' out here?â he asked, surprised.
âWell, we wanna talk to you,â Dean responded.
âYou're not here to buy a house, are you?â
You shook your head.
âW-wait. You're not serial killers?â Matt began backing away from you.
âNo. I think youâre safe,â you smiled.
âSo, Matt... you sure know a lot about insects,â Sam began.
âSo?â he shrugged.
âDid you hear what happened to Lynda, the realtor?â Dean asked.
âI hear she died this morning,â Matt responded.
âMm, that's right. Spider bites.â
âMatt... you tried to scare her with a spider.â Samâs tone was accusatory without being harsh.
âWait. You think I had something to do with that?â
âYou tell us,â you responded.
Matt scoffed humorlessly. âThat tarantula was a joke. Anyway, that wouldn't explain the bee attack or the gas company guy.â
âYou know about those?â Now you were the one being accusatory.
âThere is somethin' going on here. I don't know what... but something's happening with the insects. Let me show you something.â Matt shouldered his bag and led you deeper into the woods. You hoped he knew where the hell he was going and how the hell to get back.
âSo, if you knew about all this bug stuff, why not tell your dad? Maybe he could clear everybody out,â Sam suggested.
âBelieve me, I've tried. But, uh, Larry doesn't listen to me.â
âWhy not?â
âMostly? He's too disappointed in his freak son.â
Sam scoffed. âI hear you.â
Dean seemed surprised. âYou do?â
Sam gave him a look before turning back to Matt. âMatt, how old are you?â
âSixteen.â
âWell, don't sweat it, because in two years, something great's gonna happen.â
âWhat?â
âCollege. You'll be able to get out of that house and away from your dad.â
Dean was upset. âWhat kind of advice is that? Kid should stick with his family.â
Sam sighed and glared at his brother.Â
You tried to break the tension. âHow much further, Matt?â
You knew Matt felt awkward, too. âWe're close.â
Sam glared at Dean once more before continuing walking. Moments later, you reached a large clearing. As youâd been approaching, the sound of insects buzzing had gotten louder and louder. Hundreds of them flew about the clearing.Â
âI've been keeping track of insect populations. It's, um, part of an AP science class,â the teen explained.
âYou two are like peas in a pod,â Dean remarked.
Sam ignored him. âWhat's been happening?â
âA lot. I mean, from bees to earthworms, beetles... you name it. It's like they're congregating here,â Matt went on.Â
âWhy?â Deanâs brows knitted together.Â
âI don't know,â he responded.
You caught sight of a dark, bumpy patch of grass a few feet away. âWhatâs that?â
Matt looked at you and seemed curious as well. He led you once more over to the pile. Your skin began to crawl at the sight of hundreds of wriggling earthworms. Dean accidently stepped on a pile of them and it sank into the ground. You pulled him back by the arm to avoid him falling, too. You let him go, and he crouched to the ground. He used a stick to poke around. He then dropped the stick and stuck his hand straight into the hole. When his hand came back up, he was holding a human skull covered in dirt and worms.
âGnarley,â you said.Â
***
Sam suggested bringing the remains to the department of anthropology at a local university. âSo, a bunch of skeletons in an unmarked grave,â he said as you approached the building.
âMaybe it is a haunting,â you added. âPissed off spirits? Unfinished business?â
âYeah, maybe. Question is, why bugs? And why now?â
The older brother quipped, âThat's two questions.â
Sam ignored him.Â
Dean continued. âYeah, so with that kid back there... why'd you tell him to just ditch his family like that?â
âJust, uh... I know what the kid's goin' through,â his brother shrugged.
âHow 'bout tellin' him to respect his old man, how's that for advice?â Deanâs tone was sharp.
âDean, come on.â Sam stopped walking, and you and Dean followed suit. âThis isn't about his old man. You think I didn't respect Dad. That's what this is about.â
âJust forget it, all right? Sorry I brought it up.â Dean shook his head.Â
âI respected him. But no matter what I did, it was never good enough.â
âSo what are you sayin'? That Dad was disappointed in you?â
âWas? Is. Always has been,â Sam bit back.
âWhy would you think that?â
âBecause I didn't wanna bowhunt or hustle poolâ because I wanted to go to school and live my life, which, to our whacked-out family, made me the freak.â
âYeah, you were kind of like the blonde chick in The Munsters,â Dean grunted.
âDean, you know what most dads are when their kids score a full ride? Proud. Most dads don't toss their kids out of the house.â
You were accustomed to their normal sibling spats, but this was different.
Dean kept pushing. âI remember that fight. In fact, I seem to recall a few choice phrases comin' out of your mouth.â
âYou know, truth is, when we finally do find Dad... I don't know if he's even gonna wanna see me.â The brunet sounded sad.
âSam, Dad was never disappointed in you. Never. He was scared.â
âWhat are you talkin' about?â
âHe was afraid of what could've happened to you if he wasn't around. But even when you two weren't talkin'... he used to swing by Stanford whenever he could.â
Samâs smirk faded.
âKeep an eye on you. Make sure you were safe,â Dean finished.
âWhat?â Samâs puppy dog eyes were back.
âYeah.â
âWhy didn't you tell me any of that?â the younger brother asked.
âWell, it's a two-way street, dude. You could've picked up the phone.â
Sam stared at him sadly.
âCome on, we're gonna be late for our appointment,â Dean grumbled.Â
***
The professor youâd gone to see at the college informed you of a Euchee tribe outside of Sapulpa that the bones Dean had found might have belonged to. The three of you now headed over to a diner one of the local Native Americans had directed you to. He had told you how to find Joe White tree, a bit of a patriarch of their group.
You found him playing cards at his table in the diner.
âJoe White Tree?â Sam asked.
The man nodded.
âWe'd like to ask you a few questions, if that's all right.â
Dean continued for his brother, saying, âWe're students from the universityââ
The man cut him off. âNo, you're not. You're lying.â
Dean seemed taken aback. âWell, truth isââ
âYou know who starts sentence with âtruth isâ? Liars,â Joe responded.
Dean looked at you and Sam strangely.Â
âHave you heard of Oasis Plains?â you asked. âIt's a housing development near the Atoka Valley.â
âI like her,â Joe told Dean. âShe's not a liar.â
You smiled.Â
Joe turned back to you. âI know the area.â
âWhat can you tell us about the history there?â
âWhy do you wanna know?â
You considered for a moment. âSomething bad is happening in Oasis Plains. I think it may have something to do with a Native American grave we found there.â
âI'll tell you what my grandfather told me, what his grandfather told him,â Joe began. âTwo hundred years ago, a band of my ancestors lived in that valley. One day, the American cavalry came to relocate them. They were resistant, the cavalry impatient. As my grandfather put it, on the night the moon and the sun share the sky as equals, the cavalry first raided our village. They murdered, raped. The next day, the cavalry came again, and the next, and the next. And on the sixth night, the cavalry came one last time. And by the time the sun rose, every man, woman, and child still in the village was dead. They say on the sixth night, as the chief of the village lay dying, he whispered to the heavens that no white man would ever tarnish this land again. Nature would rise up and protect the valley. And it would bring as many days of misery and death to the white man as the cavalry had brought upon his people.â
âInsects. Sounds like nature to me. Six days,â Dean stated.
âAnd on the night of the sixth day, none would survive,â Joe finished his story.
Sam and Dean exchanged a worried look with you.Â
âThank you, sir,â you said.Â
Joe nodded at you before you and the boys headed off.Â
âWhen did the gas company man die?â Sam asked after you had made it outside.
âUh, let's see, we got here Tuesday, so, Friday the twentieth,â Dean responded.
âMarch twentieth?â You thought for a moment. âThat's the spring equinox.â
âThe night the sun and the moon share the sky as equals,â Sam finished. âSo, every year about this time, anybody in Oasis Plains is in danger. Larry built this neighborhood on cursed land.â
âAnd on the sixth nightâ that's tonight,â Dean finished.
âIf we don't do something, Larry's family will be dead by sunrise. So how do we break the curse?âÂ
âYou don't break a curse. You get out of its way. We've gotta get those people out now,â Dean said sharply.Â
The three of you got in the car and sped away.
***
Dean drove while he spoke with Larry on the phone. âYes, Mr. Pike, there's a mainline gas leak in your neighborhood⊠Well, it's fairly extensive. I don't want to alarm you, but we need your family out of the vicinity for at least twelve hours or so, just to be safe⊠Travis Weaver. I work for Oklahoma Gas and Power⊠UhâŠâ He panicked and quickly hung up.
Sam gestured for the phone. He learned from Matt that his backyard was crawling with cockroaches. He urged him to get his family out of the house, and Dean told him he needed to, under no circumstances, tell his father the truth about what was happening.Â
When you arrived at the Pike residence, Larry rushed out of the house. âGet off my property before I call the cops.â
âMr. Pike, listen,â Sam urged.
âDad, they're just tryin' to help,â Matt pleaded from the doorway.
âGet in the house!â Larry ordered.
Matt addressed you and the boys. âI'm sorry. I told him the truth.â
âWe had a plan, Matt, what happened to the plan?â Dean grunted through his teeth.
âLook, it's 12:00 AM. They are coming any minute now. You need to leave now, before it's too late,â you told Larry.
âYeah, you mean before the biblical swarm,â he replied humorlessly.
âLarry, what do you think really happened to that realtor, huh? And the gas company guy? You don't think somethin' weird's goin' on here?â Dean questioned.
âLook, I don't know who you are, but you're crazy. You come near my boy or my family again, and we're gonna have a problem,â Larry told you.
âWell, I hate to be a downer, but we've got a problem right now,â the older brother responded.
âDad, they're right, okay? We're in danger.âÂ
âMatt, get inside! Now!â
Matt stepped further out onto the porch. âNo! Why won't you listen to me?!â
âBecause this is crazy! It doesn't make any sense!â Larry yelled back.
âLook, this land is cursed! People have died here. Now, are you gonna really take that risk with your family?â
âWait!â you shushed the group.
Everyone went silent.
âYou hear it?â
From a distance away, there was a faint buzzing that got louder and louder rapidly.
âWhat the hell?â Larry muttered.Â
The fluorescent bug light on the porch began overheating; killing several bugs at a time. The buzzing got even louder. Millions of bugs blanketed the sky, heading straight to you.
âOh my God.â Your breath quickened. âEverybody in the house, now!â
You and Dean held up the rear of the group, and you felt his hand on your back guiding you inside. You locked the door behind Dean.
âOkay, is there anybody else in the neighborhood?â Sam asked Larry.
âNo, it's just us.â
Joanie entered the room. âHoney, what's happening? What's that noise?â
âCall 911,â Larry instructed her. âJoanie!â
She seemed caught off-guard. âOkay.â She picked up the phone and began to dial.Â
âI need towels,â Dean told Larry.
âUh, in the closet.â
Sam and Matt went upstairs while you and Dean packed the base of the front door with the towels you found.
âPhones are dead,â Joanie informed you.
âThey must have chewed through the phone lines.â Dean shook his head as the lights went out.
âAnd the power lines,â you grumbled.
Larry tried his cell phone only to get no signal.
âYou won't get one. They're blanketing the house.â Dean looked towards the windows that were beginning to darken from the thousands of bugs collecting on them.
âSo what do we do now?â Larry asked.
Sam had come back downstairs with Matt. âWe try to outlast it. Hopefully, the curse will end at sunrise.â
âHopefully?â Larryâs eyebrows raised in shock.
You looked to Dean. âYou have your zippo lighter?âÂ
He seemed to catch on to what you were suggesting and nodded. The two of you broke off to the kitchen and found bug spray under one of the cabinets.
Joanie seemed unimpressed when you returned with the can.
âJust trust us,â you told her.
A creaking sound from the fireplace caught your attention.
âWhat is that?â Mattâs voice was higher pitched than normal.
âThe flue,â Sam answered.
âAlright, I think everybody needs to get upstairs,â Dean ordered.
Suddenly, thousands of bugs poured into the living room from the fireplace, swarming all around you. Dean used his zippo to light the can of bug spray. âAlright, everybody upstairs! Now! Go, go, go!â
You covered your ears and ran upstairs to the attic with Sam and Dean close by you. You could hear bugs thumping against the attic hatch door; trying desperately to get in. There was only a few moments reprieve before you heard gnawing above you.
âOh, God, what's that?â Joanie cried.
âSomething's eating through the wood,â Dean replied.
âTermites,â Matt added.
Dean ordered the family to get back from the spot where sawdust was beginning to descend and bits of moonlight were coming through. Moments later, bugs began to fill the room through the chewed in spot. You and the boys frantically tried to patch the hole, swatting bugs away from you like a madwoman. You were able to shove a board of wood with another under it to hold it up, but that only worked for a second. Two other holes were chewed through the roof, raining bugs down on you. You covered your ear with one hand and swatted bugs away with the other. You and the boys backed up into the Pikes, who were huddled in the corner. Dean tried his best to light the bugs up, but nothing was working. Then, miraculously, the sun began to rise. Thankfully, all of the bugs began to fly out of the holes theyâd chewed through the roof. You watched through the same holes as they flew up toward the sun. You breathed a sigh of relief.Â
***
The next morning, you and the boys were about to head out of town but stopped by the Pike residence on the way. You approached the moving van that Larry was loading boxes into.
âWhat, no goodbye?â Dean joked.
âGood timing. Another hour and we'd have been gone,â Larry answered. He shook your hand.
âFor good?â you asked.
âYeah. The development's been put on hold while the government investigates those bones you found. But I'm gonna make damn sure no one lives here again,â Larry explained.
âYou don't seem too upset about it.â
âWell, this has been the biggest financial disaster of my career, butâŠâ He looked over to Matt, who was carrying a box in the garage. â...somehow, I really don't care.â
You smiled at him.
Sam walked over to Matt, who was throwing away all of his insect paraphernalia. You looked on fondly as the two smiled and laughed. You bid Larry goodbye and went over to the car with Dean. Seconds later, Sam joined you.
âI wanna find Dad,â the brunet said.
âYeah, me too,â Dean nodded.
âYeah, but I just... I want to apologize to him.â
âFor what?â
âAll the things I said to him. He was just doin' the best he could.â
âWell, don't worry, we'll find him. And then you'll apologize. And then within five minutes, you guys will be at each other's throats.â
You laughed. âI wanna find him, too.â
The boys looked at you strangely.
âI wanna kick his ass to hell and back for leaving you two alone.â
Dean shook his head. âIâm sure he had his reasons.â
âWell, whatever they are, they arenât good enough,â you quipped. âAnd I wanna thank him. If it werenât for him, I never wouldâve met you two.â
Sam smiled at you fondly at y0u. Dean had a look on his face you couldnât quite read.
âI thought we agreed on no chick flick moments, (Y/N),â Dean remarked. âCâmon, letâs hit the road.â

You just know sometimes
Daryl Dixon âą She/Her Pronouns âą So much had to happen between Terminus and AlexandriaâŠYou in your situation being one of them âą ANGST/SFW âą TW: Injuries / Bruises / Scars / The Claimers & Cannibals Mentioned / Anxiety
Requested by: Anon
You failed Daryl Dixon
You fucking failed and people have died because of it
All you were tasked to do was to keep them safe
But yet here you areâŠand where are they?
Fucking DEAD
Daryl snapped out of his half asleep haze with a small grunt of annoyance which caught Carolâs attention instantly. She didnât say a word but gave him a concerned look as they were currently holding up camp in the woods after another failed attempt at staying in a neighborhood. If only the herd didnât come through it.
It was really starting to feel like the nine months before the prison.
When the group returned to the main road, they heard someone or something running in the woods which they obvious drawn their weapons thinking a possible threat. Rick directed with his head for Daryl and Glenn to join him going into the trees to figure out what that could possibly be.
âGlenn you take the right, Daryl left, and Iâll go forwardâ Rick stated as they instantly acted on such.
They equally gotten far into the woods and Glenn came across nobody, but there was a blood trail that he followed until he ran into Rick. When both were now following the blood trail, Daryl was occupied by some walkers that after taking out the few he came across he noticed the blood that the others have caught on. But the trail stopped at a tree and thereâs no foot prints either.
Daryl flinched when he felt acorns fall on his head resulting in him looking up to find a person, a woman holding onto the base of the tree for dear life as the branch she sat on barely supported her.
âDid you findâ-â Daryl held his hand up stopping Rick from saying anymore before pointing upward.
Rick gestured for Glenn to take another angle but she wasnât much of a threat.
âI-I know youâre t-there. I donât have anythingâ
âWhat makes you think we can trustâ-â Glenn stopped his question when her pack dropped to their feet. He knelt down looking further into it finding only a lighter and what looks like a shiv because she has no weapon. She probably had to get creative with walkers. Then the obvious. âWait. Are you bit?!â He snapped instantly causing Rick to ready his gun again as Daryl elbowed him to stop.
âI would like not to be dropped on by a walker, Daryl. You canât be too sure what happened until she makes herselfâ-â Rick stopped when the woman they were talking about finally climbed down the tree.
No obvious bites
But very obvious injuries
âIâm not bitten. IâmâŠbeing chasedâ She stated and it didnât take long for the four to be alerted by the commotion on the road. Which had Rick sprinting without a second thought given his kids were there.
When the leader returned to the rest of his family, he noticed they had taken care of it. There were three men. Two were taken care of and one had gotten away but not without something to show for it.
âThey were asking if weâve seen some woman, then it got a bit hairy as if we were trying to hide something from themâ Abraham started.
âThey threatened to hurt the kids. We were going to let them live obviouslyâ Carol continued as she had been hovering around Judith and Carl just as much as Michonne has with Tyreese.
âThe third got away. To be honest with you, he ainât gonna make it very fairâ Noah frowns gripping the strap to his weapon while looking into the direction they had come from as Rick grew anxious of another threat like the Claimers only a few of them came in contact with. Which brought into question if they should let the woman they found in with them.
Given her state and lack of weapons, sheâs no threat to them besides whoever wants her dead.
âWe have the woman. Sheâs in bad shape. No weapons but a makeshift knife that could only really take out a rotting corpse like a walker.â Rick stated waiting for any negative sign from the group that would tell him to not bring her in.
âHow bad is she?â Maggie frowns growing worried before turning to the sound of footsteps finding Glenn stepping out with Daryl who helped the woman walk. âWeâll help herâ
âIs that really a good idea bringing in more trouble?â Sasha questioned only for Maggie to now have an annoyed look.
âWe all actively entered Terminus and practically brought ourselves more trouble. We have the upper hand with whoever these men are, they donât stand a chanceâ
âThen weâll take her in. For right now, we should make camp before it gets too dark to see where we are goingâ Carol added as she followed Maggieâs lead in approaching the woman to help her, noticing Daryl was glued to her suddenly when they went to help her.
Y/N is her name
Rosita forced Eugene to help her and Glenn make up the trigger line as Tara added the cans. The technique to warn them of walkers when they make up camp in open areas. Abraham took care of taking first watch after checking out their perimeter.
Daryl took the first aid kit from Maggie once she found it out of all their persons, to bring it to Y/N and help assess her injuries noticing a few of the cuts on her arms were deeper than he anticipated. None of them could do stitches in the conditions they were in. He had to manage with heavy bandaging and she let him patch her up but the second he was done, she instantly retracted into herself.
âHe feels guiltyâ
Rick watched Carol sit beside him as they were watching the scene before them.
âWhat do you mean?â
âHe feels guilty for Beth so he has this need to save herâ Carol frowns watching Daryl take out his canteen handing it to Y/N who rejected it. Regardless of how hard he insisted. âSave everyone even if it means tearing himself downâ
âWell, heâs got us. They both doâ
During the night when most were asleep, Daryl took over watch for Abraham letting the man get some sleep. He noticed Y/N get up from her spot and started to move past the trigger line keeping herself quietâŠthatâs probably why sheâs gone unnoticed at first until her escape became dire.
âTake watchâ Daryl whispered to Glenn not giving him a second to respond as he was already on his leave. Maggie couldnât help herself from stirring awake when her husband moved but she noticed the archer and couldnât help but worry.
âWhere are you going?â
Y/N stopped in her track giving him a deer in headlights kind of look, especially given the light from his flashlight shined in her eyes.
âIâm leavingâ She relaxed turning away from the light as Daryl turned it off but quickly took a hold of her arm as gentle as he could. âListenâ-â
âIâm not going to listen to anything by the lines of âitâs to protect usâ when weâve all had our fair share of bullshit in this worldâ
âBut Darylâ-â silence was quickly met when another set of footsteps were heard, and not just one and no sound that determined a walker or frankly any of their own.
Daryl only had his knife as did Y/N. He went to reach for his but she halted him, letting the two listen for a while longer.
âThat stupid bitch just had to go and get some helpâ
âThey shouldâve let her bleed to deathâ
âUseless pigâ the third whispered but there were more to follow and Y/N gave Daryl a concerned look before suddenly booking it after she grabbed the flashlight in his hand.
A diversion is what she decided upon without telling anything to Daryl as he stood there in a bit of shock watching her fade into the night until the light of his flashlight turned on. Then the sudden shift of stealth approach those chasing her, turned into sprints and shouts. That quickly alerted the others while Daryl ran back to get his crossbow that Maggie already met him halfway on.
This was stupid Y/N thought as she ran and dodged as many trees as she could in the night. Even with a flashlight, she couldnât help but bump into a few and that only drove the pain from her previous injuries to a higher level.
âShe just ran?!â
âAs a diversion one can assumeâ Rick sprinted after Daryl with Maggie and Carol on either side of him and Abraham, Rosita, and Michonne following shortly behind.
The trail ran dry, how it could it have run dry?
âFucking hell!â One of the men shouted and with his anger brewing externally, he pushed one of the others onto his back. âThat fucking slut just had to get looseâ
The one on the floor slowly picks himself up but only for the third, who seemed to be the angriest out of them all.
âIf you had tied the knots better, she would still be the squirming mess beneath me back homeâ the tone of his anger only made it clear that he was the leader of them all. He quickly dropped the guy when he heard footsteps as two others quickly stepped toward the sound to investigate, only for one of them to meet their end with an arrow through his eye. âMotherfuckersâ-â
âIf you wanna liveâ Which you wonât
âYouâre going to want to stay right thereâ Rick stated after Daryl, with his gun raised as their family had their weapons drawn to the living three that were more empty-handed. âWhereâs the woman? The one you are afterâ
âLike we are going to help you findâ-â the one on the left side of the leader dropped dead after Daryl shot another bolt. This action caused the other lesser to panic.
âS-She ran off. W-We donât k-know where sheâ-â he met his end from Maggie, who had enough of the absent of clear answers.
âIâm the last one here. If youâre smart, you wouldnât kill me if you want to know where she isâ Which he didnât know. âSheâs always been this much trouble. Youâre only signing yourselves up for someone who leaves when we were only doing her a favorâ
âThe injuries she bears, have nothing to do with âdoing her a favorââ Glenn frowns keeping his attention on the man like the others, until he felt something from above hit him. He kept his composure letting Rick take lead in talking while he looked up while the others were still focused on the man. Finding Y/N hiding in the trees but also moving herself to get above the man.
âWhat did you do to her?â Daryl knew from what he saw, but how it happened was still a mystery. âWhat did she do to you to have what happened to her, happen?â
âAsking a lot of questions. She got what she deserved and she still needs to pay for a lot of itâ
Michonne gave a quick glance to Rick in a way of telling him to just end this man. But she was observant enough to hear the movement above resulting in her and Glenn grabbing the few in front (Daryl, Rick, and Maggie) to pull them back letting Y/N fall from the tree and on top of this guy.
The force causing him to collapse and Y/N instantly drove her knife into his neck. She rolled off the man leaving the knife in him as she felt hands on her resulting in a total body jerk away when it was just Daryl helping her. He didnât help until she relaxed enough and while he helped her, Rick searched through their packs finding some food they desperately needed.
Maggie went through one of them and pulled out a few photos held together by a paper clip. Only to realize Y/N was in these photos and they werenât what you think given she was taken by disgusting men. It was photos that originally were hers and they had taken everything of hers.
âThese belong to youâ Maggie said with a soft reassuring smile as she gave Y/N the photos resulting in a few tears spilling from her eyes in relief. âHowâd youâŠeven end up with these guys?â
Y/N held the photos in her hands finding one of her and her family resulting in more tears but she quickly wiped them away. âI was with my family and we got into trouble with someone? Even in the end, there are people with power and these guys were sent after us when we leftâŠand they wanted to do certain things to me that only got my dad and brother killed trying to protect me.â
âDid theyâ-â
âNoâŠI kept fighting back to a point they had enough and justâ Y/N gestures to herself and her injuries which were being eyed the entire time given sheâs opened a few bandages resulting in a few bleeding again.
âLetâs get back to the othersâŠget some restâ Maggie gave a warm smile to her as they all made sure there were no more before making their way back.
Finally their group settles with no threat other than walkersâŠeveryone slept except for Rick on watch, and Daryl and Y/N who were too awake in that moment. He helped her with new bandages but she couldnât help but get a feeling from him.
âYouâŠare a protective person arenât you?â
âWhat?â
âWhen I stumbled into your group, you didnât hesitate to invite me in and protect me from the harm that is no longer a threatâ
âThere will always be a threat. Youâre justâŠa part of us now. Weâre protective of each otherâ
Y/N couldnât help but strike that cord.
âI would protect the next person needing to be saved if I lost someone dear to meâ She didnât need to know about Beth, all she needed to know was the feeling and thatâs what she got from his.
His silence only gave her the answer. She reached out and took his hand squeezing it to reassure him even if she didnât know how it happened, that it wasnât his fault.
âI barely know yea, and vise versaâŠyet you know so muchâ
âIâm good at reading body language when Iâm not in distress. It comes in handyâ
âHm. Well. Aside from that, get to know us without reading just body languageâ
âI willâ Y/N smiles, giving a soft thank you when he finished the last bandage. Daryl rose to his feet going to relieve Rick of his watch but as he looked back at her, she kept a smile.
It will come in handy one day, knowing someone just from their body language.
Daryl sat on the porch railing one night with one of his homemade cigarettes in hand thinking too hard on something. His attention instantly snapping out of it when the front door opened letting Dog out but also for Y/N to step out and sit next to him.
âI donâtâ-â
âI know, but Iâm hereâ Y/N reassures every thought coursing in his mind with that smile of hers which brought him to wrap his arm around her shoulders bringing her close.
âYou do just know thingsâ

HOW HATERS ARE BORN (HHAB)
⥠chapter twenty-nine â bittersweet (đ)
Reading the text didnât bring tears to his eyes, but for some reason, it still stung badly.
It wasnât the words themselves, but a twinge of disappointment that he felt shortly afterward. It ruminated in his thoughts the minute that the car ride started, and all he was left with was his own disappointment, and a lack of fight left.
And as he sat in that passengers seat, the words seemed to be knocked out of him yet again. The world blurred into a haze of colors and shapes. He clenched at his own palms until his knuckles turned white and his mind spiraled.
It suffocated him, but he knew a lot about that to endure it anyway.
"You know," A female's voice rippled through his chaos to grasp his attention. "It's not that bad."
He blinked, slowly refocusing his gaze and turning his head manually towards Furina. "What is."
"The (Y/N) stuff." She said, glancing every now and then from the road towards him.
His expression was of weary resignation. "You think so?" He sighed out, the words feeling heavy on his tongue every time he even spoke.
"They may be mad at you right now, but you have a plan." She said, her gaze steady. "It may not be fool proof, but you'll come out of it with a clearer conscience than that Tartaglia ever will. I promise."
But even with her promises, it didn't feel right to be comparing his peace of mind to another's. Maybe his conclusion would be completely different after all. Her words rushed over him like a soothing balm, the turmoil that he usually felt being nudged away.
For the first time in forever, he felt somewhat of a spark of determination. "Thanks." He murmured audibly, a small gasp coming from the former as he cringed, "For...all this, I guess. It's not often people are this nice to me."
"I didn't think you were capable of being grateful! I should gloat in this." She grinned, "You've grown used to people treating you like a liability. Whether you like it or not, it's not normal. Wean yourself off of that as soon as possible."
The rest of the car trip was silent. He couldn't entirely take his mind off of the events, and even the meeting he's taking himself to, but the passing scenery outside the car window put his mind elsewhere until the car slowed to a stop.
He put his back cap and mask on with less resolve than what he started with, unable to shake the feeling of discomfort her felt now that the gravity of the situation weighed down on him. He looked again out the window at the exact seat he wanted before exhaling. "If I don't come back, just abort mission."
"Don't be dramatic." Furina's eyes dulled, also knowing this situation was wary. "But...I'll be near, okay? Just in case this goes south and it actually is someone trying to kill you."
"Yeah, it's really fun being shark bait, thank you." He shook his head to himself, opening the car door to approach the cafe.
The building was more certain than he was in that moment, a warm glow beckoning the area. He never realized how little he went out these days, this same coffee shop was entirely different than the last time he came. The familiar sight and sounds of the city he used to know was suddenly unfamiliar to him.
Muted voices to him inside the little shop, all rambling vicariously. It was funny, the main reason he stopped even coming here was because things started getting busier and busier. Ei would apply pressure to him once he agreed to the streaming stuff. Did he ever really lose his identity if he never got to have one in the first place?
He squared his shoulders once the espresso he ordered was ready, quickly nodding in acknowledgement to the barista and sitting outside for a breath of fresh air. Everything around him was suffocating, and he never thought he'd be like one of those guys who are scared of having an actual life outside of their computer.
Maybe that was her plan, now that he was thinking about it.
He let the cool breeze wash over him, despite almost his whole face being covered except his eyes. He felt skittish, and uneasy, fingers lightly tapping at the to go cup of espresso in his hands. "What am I even looking for..." He murmured irritably, annoyance plaguing his thoughts.
It was a long, and arduous three minutes he sat there thinking about who Twitchpatch may possibly be now that he knew about Childe. How the fuck did he even know who it was? A familiar of his, maybe? But not that many people know about Narukami coffee shop unless someone who did told someone else.
And if they did...then there's also a limited amount of people. He didn't know what to think...until it hit him. Why would Twitchpatch, a news source, know about an indie coffee shop if they weren't also from Inazuma..?
And once he came to that conclusion as the cup was near his lips ponderingly, a feminine voice called, "I didn't think you'd be early."
His heart dropped to his stomach in an instant, his eyes slowly lifting up to meet the woman's voice. There, standing before him, was a sight that he never thought he'd be able to see again in his entire lifetime. Time stopped for him, and he slowly began to look mortified once he realized...
"What the fuck, Makoto." Scaramouche's voice cut through the air, sharp and accusatory. He almost lost it, if it weren't for her softer expression evening out.
"Hey, Kuzu." Makoto said with a softer tone, sitting down in front of him hesitantly. "I thought I wouldn't feel anything out of this, but...it's different when it's you."
"Fuck you." He snapped, his eye almost twitching from how many emotions were going through him in the moment. "Ei said you left us. You made that decision on your own."
"You're missing a lot of the story."
"And even with that in mind, I didn't do shit to you for you to play fake fucking journalist." He pointed. "Yeah, forgot about that little detail? The lie you capitalized off in humor of both of our downfalls? They're scattering to find a way for me to clear the controversy right now because of you."
"Is that not what Ei wanted? Controversy all of the time?" Makoto raised an eyebrow, sitting back in the chair. "It wasn't my desired effect, trust me."
"Yeah? That wasn't what you wanted to happen? I thought you were the one to always think about what you do before you do it. I guess. Fucking. Wrong." He seethed, his teeth grinding into each other. "I should narc on you right now."
Makoto's expression softened, and she reached out tentatively, her hand hovering in the air. "Please, just listen to me for a second."
"Why should I?" He recoiled. "I'm not even mad about what you did to me. But you had no place bringing other people into this. You don't get to waltz back in to my life after doing all of this and act like what you did was some sort of poetic justice. That's not how this works."
"I had no intention on it." Makoto sighed, her shoulders slumped as her eyes narrowed away from him. "Listen...Ei and I had a bad argument before I left. I felt like she was starting to change after all of this and she denied all of it and threatened me. I can't save a dying group if its leader isn't open to criticism."
He scoffed, bitterness tainting his tone. "And you only decided to tell me about this after you left me clueless? About where you were after you fucked off and went off the radar without a word? Are you not essentially just doing what she did?"
"I never said that what I did was okay!" Makoto frowned. "This meeting is harder than I thought it'd be...I wanted to figure out a way I could get you out of there as quick as possible, but I didn't have a way at that time. I was reckless...and it lead to this. If I had the ability to rally up more capable people for the job, I would. But this is all I've got. And you shouldn't be okay with how you're being treated there just because of what I did."
He knew that he wanted to clap back at her again, but he knew she was right in that accord. He chewed at the inners of his mouth, staring at her with an intense gaze.
"You lost the spark in your eyes, Kuzu." She said, "I've seen your streams. You're not even happy doing it, it's like there's nothing there. Why do you do them, in that case?"
"I didn't lose it." He corrected.
"Every time your stream, it feels like you're not passing time. You don't want to be there, and not many people can see it, but you used to look different...more lively." Makoto observed, "It feels like I'm looking at a carcass of what that used to be. You don't eat much, you don't sleep with what I've seen. You always seem like you're worried about something. It's disheartening. Excuse me for thinking of a way out for you."
He sighed fiercely at her, "What do you want from me? What do you want me to do about it?" He had trouble looking into her eyes. "You really...really fucked with me, Makoto."
Makoto sat in silence for a moment, the weight of their shared history hanging heavy in the air. But amidst her own regrets, she stood up after a second and gave a small smile. "You should stop, this isn't good for you. You're...like, deep frying your own brain at this point."
"How do you know what's good for me?" He bit back one last time before feeling his confidence weaken. "You don't even know a thing about me these days."
Her smile didn't waver at his words anymore, she gave him a light pat on his head in mild comfort before stepping back. "Stop streaming, Kuzu." She said, "And if it makes you feel better, air everything out. It's the least you could do for all that she made you do, right? I'm sorry I won't be there beside you to see it."
That light pat was something that he hated, but at the same time, haven't gotten the chance to be granted in ages. He never gave people the chance to get too close to him after all of this, nor even give them the reason to in the first place. It was bittersweet, his heart swelled with the same confusion and kindness Makoto gave him back them.
He wanted to prove her wrong, but he knew it was beyond his pride to keep her by his side. Even with how aware she was that she was right about him. Looking at her after a while, she could tell from his eyes that he was hurt. "I'll see you again sometime, okay? Reconcile with that (Y/N) if you ever get the chance; you seem to like them anyway beyond all the fake news."
She left as quick as she came, and with Scaramouche's previous arrogance and general disposition. He didn't know what to do anymore.

DP x DC Prompt: Delayed Reactions
Danny's powers didn't activate all at once after going into the Ghost Portal, in fact they hadn't even fully realized what happened for months. They assumed the change in appearance was just their eyes adjusting to the flashing because of how quickly it appeared then vanished again. But, as more things started happening to Danny and started changing, Danny couldn't help but wonder if maybe his accident had resulted in more than a permanent star that ran up his left arm to his heart.
He didn't tell Sam or Tucker though, after all Meta-Humans were so rare that there was no way they would believe him! Plus, if he told them then it would only be a matter of time before more people knew. So, he kept it to himself.
Which worked until Summer Break when Danny went to Gotham with his parents and Jazz for a Ghost Hunting Exp. Danny had no interest in 'Ghost Hunting' (though he had begun to do more of it after he realized that he could kind of sense and see the ghosts), so instead of listening to the expo he was going around learning more and more about the city. Gotham had some amazing other exhibits, an observatory, museums with huge space displays, and more interesting things than Ghosts.
Plus, it had the highest population of heroes!
Danny didn't expect that his second day in Gotham would end up so differently from the first one. It all started with a little girl about nine who had been crossing the street when chaos broke loose. An explosion on the next block rocked the entire city, causing Danny's skin to crawl, but what mad him sick was the fact that the explosion had thrown a car directly towards the little girl and a crowd of people.
Everybody else scattered, including the woman the girl had been walking with who seemed to forget her in an instant as they got out of the way of the car. But the little girl didn't move, just started terrified at the approaching car.
"Get out of the way!" People shouted to the girl, but unlike the rest of them Danny's instincts were screaming one thing.
Protect.
Danny ran forward as quickly as his legs could manage as he tried to beat gravity itself. Danny made it to the girl without a second to spare, wrapping her into a hug.
"Please work, please work, please work!" Danny thought, struggling to get his powers to work as he felt himself turn intangible with the girl turning intangible with him.
No sooner did his powers kick in did the car slam into the ground where they were standing before it bounced and rolled down the street, leaving a dent around the two of them but leaving both Danny and the girl untouched.
Danny let his power drop, as the girl looked at him for a second before she burst into tears and hugged him. Danny's vision swam as he hugged her back, fixing her hair.
"I gotcha, you're okay..." Danny told her, then let her go as the woman who had left her in the street called her.
The girl sniffled, then ran to the woman as Danny tried to stand. He could hear people talking, cheering and some were even applauding but it all sounded really far away. He could also hear another car approaching, but as his vision faded and his body felt as though it was filled with led nothing felt important anymore.
---
The Bats had tried to race to get to the civilians before the car hit them and had failed. Thankfully, the majority of people had managed to get out of the way to a safe distance but there was a little girl still in the road. None of them wanted to see the girl die, but they knew realistically they couldn't make it to her.
But somebody did.
No sooner did the stranger save the girl and let her go did they collapse into the middle of the street.
Suddenly it was no longer 'save civilians from a car that got partially blown up in Penguins newest scheme' but 'get the unknown Meta out of the street before his face was exposed to every media outlet throughout the city'.

â© ËË . NAGI SEISHIRO ; â you think itâs cute the way youâve come to pick up on nagiâs habits.
warnings: a lil making out, sfw. note: i couldnât get this out of my head so i had to get it out of my system >:[
nagi seishiro had habits, not many.. but enough for you to pick up on them with how much time you spent in eachothers company. they were small, like the way his fingers would tap on his screen between video game cutscenes or the way heâd always press a kiss to your throat before resting his head on your shoulder with a drowsy, dreamy sigh.
but the one you noticed most, the one that got to you most â was the way his lidded gaze always seemed to rest on your lips whenever heâd want a real kiss.
it was wordless, a silent little plea whenever youâd be mid conversation or resting on nagiâs chest â from the nine pm walks to the supermarket down the road for lemon tea to the friday evenings when youâre just at his apartment, seated on the floor next to him and covered in a blanket while he games. but his eyes are still on you when you lean in and he doesnât hesitate to meet you.
you donât mind it, you realise when his hands are intertwining with yours and heâs squeezing you once with the first press of his lips, followed by another when he pulls away because he hopes you donât see the flush on his cheeks that accompanies the race of his heart. but youâre curious as to why heâs never been one to close the distance himself.
âwhy do you do that?â you find yourself asking one night and nagi looks at you in time with your heart beating softly as you smile, leaning in to peck his lips before youâre pulling awayâa little too quickly for his liking as he sighs.
âno fair, whyâd you stop?â your snowy haired boyfriend hums before heâs blinking at you sleepily, still leaning into the space where you met him a few seconds ago with red in his cheeks and a soft glow in his eyes.
âyou didnât answer my question, sei.â you laugh before youâre leaning in to press a kiss to nagiâs cheek next, deliberately avoiding his lips so you can hear the way he grumbles with his next quiet whine as he tries to pull you back into him. âwhy do you look at me like that?â
âeh, like what?â his head tilts and you think he looks cute when his bangs frame his pretty features, urging you to reach out to brush them from his gaze as he leans into the press of your palm before he blinks slowly.
âlike my lips.. you know..â nagiâs eyes are back on you when your words curl into a breath at the end and you feel suddenly warm under his gaze, feeling a little awkward as you let the conversation roll around in your head. âwhen you want a kiss, i guess. are you shy?â
âhey, âm not shy.â he begins as he blinks slowly, tender touches tracing their way up your thigh before heâs throwing them over his own and urging you to scoot closer despite the subtle pouty shape his lips have taken. â..dunno, youâre just pretty, itâs such a pain.â his head knocks against yours playfully and you giggle before youâre scratching at his hair.
âawww, youâre so cute when youâre shy, sei.â youâre teasing him, nagi knows it but he still finds himself groaning at your giggles before heâs poking at your sides to get you to stop.
âquit laughinâ, come on!â the cushions on the couch dip when he leans forward and he breathes out a slow breath before his lips are meeting yours clumsily. a whining sort of hum vibrating through your lips when you part them and he uses the opportunity to dip his tongue past your own.
it renders you breathless the way nagi presses himself into you like heâs demanding half of you completely, nose pressing against your cheek as he twists softly into you and your breathing comes uneven as you exhale. his huge palms squeeze at your thighs as he pulls you onto him, dragging you into his lap as your thighs squeeze around his hips and he kisses you senseless until youâre melting above him before he pulls away.
his eyes are already on you when you let your own blink slowly, feeling him smooth his palms underneath the hem of your shirt before theyâre resting on your waist. you feel hazy, kiss-drunk and caught off guard with the sudden hunger that your drowsy striker boyfriend had just shown but you canât help but find yourself wanting more as your hands smooth through his hair.
âsee, âm not shy.. but havinâ to stop is such a bother.â nagiâs lips are swollen from your kisses as they curl around his words, his hair mused from your hands but you still find yourself ruffling the snowy peaks between your fingers as you laugh.
âhm, i dont know if i believe you.â you grin, cheeky and a little smug as you let your fingertip trail along the shapes of his features â watching his eyes drop at the featherlight touch before heâs leaning in to place another quick peck against your lips. but he lets himself rest there, like a silent little promise that heâs not quite done.
âeh, really? was just gettinâ started i guess.â
