My thought is why would you want to become president if you don't like most of the people you're governing like i understand why he is (no jail, money, scores to settle) but it seems dumb to want to be the leader of a country you don't even like the America he wants to lead doesn't exist and when it did he would have died really early of stupidity or one of his servants (really really thin use of that) killing his ass

imagine how much of a fucking horrible person you have to be that on the first day your elected into office the crisis calls of a Suicide Prevention Project Go Up 33%. The Trevor Project Received over 1,400 Call By Early Monday Afternoon. Most of those calls, if not all, are coming from children. Children scared of you and what you will do. Imagine how much power and how horrible you have to be to do that.

#like his wife and children are immigrants #but he hates immigrants #there's almost 50 million black people here #but he wants them to be silent and ignored #i can't find a good yearly metric of how many immigrants come over so lets say a million #cause it's around there #so if 1 million people cross the border to come here #for 100 different reasons #but mostly they can't survive where they are #like nobody pulls up sticks for fun #it's usually necessity #but you can assume that the only thing they come here for is hope #and you know that and don't like it then why would you even bother #you don't like how other people choose to live their lives or make their own decisions #so you choose to oppress them #1.6 million people that you don't know #and put pressure on another 18 million or so to conform to your straight white old man standards #i don't think we should ever vote in a “leader” who either hates the people he's suppose to lead #or cannot empathize with them #i don't have to be trans to understand that not being yourself #fucking sucks #cause i was opressed and forced into a box for years #so i can empathize with that #I'm also human #thank you for coming to my ted talk

Guy at my union meeting tonight got pissed off that the union endorsed Biden and made a motion that nobody be allowed to talk about politics at any of the meetings. His reasoning was that he didn't want the meetings to be derailed with long-winded discussions or fights about politics. He is the only person to have brought up politics the whole meeting, he got into a ten-minute fight with the business manager about it, and he was wearing a "Biden is a communist sell-out" t-shirt the whole time.

#the thing is he's a very smart guy in most aspects #just. VERY opinionated and with a couple huge blind spots #he's the guy whose favorite movie is A Bug's Life because he likes the message about all the little guys being stronger together #and who also hates socialism in all of its forms with a rabid fervor #he came up to me after the meeting and was like 'let me guess - you want to bite my head off'#(he used to be my teacher and we get along pretty well most of the time. also apparently my politics are pretty obvious)#bestie you dragged out this meeting while fearmongering about immigrants for ten minutes just as it was about to end #EVERYONE in this room wants to kill you rn

another thing that was crazy abt megalopolis is that theres a huge subplot (the main plot of the movie??) about how adam driver is just going around demolishing historic buildings and peoples homes to build his stupid utopian city and everyone is protesting this for obvious reasons but then in the last 10 minutes he just unveils his stupid utopian city and its presented like a huge grand triumph and the demolishings are completely forgotten so you have to assume the movie thinks that coming in and exploding peoples homes with no warning is a good and cool thing for him to do and they shouldnt have been upset by this.

#also his cousin hates him so the cousin goes to one of these protests and agrees with the crowd #and like specifically stands apart from their rich family by saying 'no the common people arent trash theyre immigrants lets hear them'#so he joins the protest and riles up the crowd against adam driver #and then the next time we see the crowd its become a very on the nose trump metaphor w the cousin as trump #so in universe the people protesting the destruction of their homes with no warning are just. right wing crazies i guess #and the guy who listens to the common people and explicitly stands up for immigrants is trump #anyway thats more evidence that the movie thinks its good and cool for adam driver to be destroying peoples homes.#for his stupid city thats only benefit is. like. having those moving walkways you see at the airport.#avpost #anyway i have to keep talking about megalopolis to the detriment of my relationships and sanity bc theres just. so much #movie diary #oh and when i say the trump metaphor is on the nose i mean like. news people calling him an unconventional politician over #footage of the crowd holding up signs that say Make New Rome Great Again level of on the nose
