first solo illario dialogue is GREAT because he is pissed. he’s like “APPARENTLY Lucanis is in a SEA PRISON which is INSANE and I only just learned this MINUTES ago” like yeah we could take that completely in bad faith, but all thing considered he actually did NOT know about this and the vibe I’m getting from it is that yeah, sure, he ordered Lucanis’ death. Whatever. A crow is going to crow. But IMPRISONMENT? A year of TORTURE? not his intentions and he IS actually upset about it. probably for some preserve mixture of “he was supposed to be dead [not alive to cause problems]😡” but also “he was supposed to be dead [which is better than being tortured for a year] 😩”. Tang is a Damsel in Distress

So, we know in the original Journey to the West, Tripitaka gets kidnapped almost every chapter. Usually either to be eaten or married. Lego Monkie Kid seems to imply this happens to Tang too.

In the episode “Amnesia Rules,” Tang is kidnapped by the Scorpion Queen. Coincidentally, a character who shows up in JTTW too though they changed her and her story TREMENDOUSLY for the cartoon.

He tells her that he’s been kidnapped by “a lot of lesser yaogui” before soooooo

This is interesting. As far as the show goes, the only time Tang has been kidnapped was when the Spider Queen was going to eat Pigsy and him. That’s only one, not a lot.

Add onto this:

“She kept giving you noodles so you wouldn’t leave.” (Pigsy speaking)

Pigsy says this with exasperation, as if this has happened dozens of times before. My guess is that Tang HAS dealt with semi-regular kidnappings similar to his predecessor Tang Sanzang. And based off of Pigy’s reaction, he was there for a LOT of these, most likely having to save him.

This also explains how Pigsy carries around Tang is to such ease and how Tang doesn’t so much as bat an eye or flounder about.

Probably had to carry him off to safety a lot in their youth. I would LOVE to see an episode where they show Pigsy, Tang, and Sandy when they were younger and play it almost like a classic episode of JTTW. Tang gets kidnapped and Pigsy and Sandy go rescue him!

Someone needs to define what brainrot language is. For now though… well, they are all adults so if this “brainrot language” is anything like the anti-humor of later gen z or gen alpha with stilted in-jokes one liners and internet language. No none of them would be using that.

They either don’t understand it and go “what?” (Cybele and Majell)

Find it annoying (Falmea and Helstm)

Doesn’t give two shits about it even if they understand it (Sauron)

Or simply are oblivious because they are not online due to interacting with technology at the same level as your grandparents (Cyrusk)
