-rainbow totally would have gotten him and sabre friendship necklaces (yk the matching kind with magnets that come together n all) and after knowing lucas for a bit he woulda made friendship bracelets !!

-i love the reincarnation au SO MUCH its literally fire but in normal headcanons I think he used to be part of the creed and an assasin and ermm

Basically I headcanon his whole assassins creed series was basically his backstory before starting to do research on these 'steve' entities

-when nervous/anxious his footsteps will be completely silent out of habit from the whole assassin thing, and he'd obviously do it when purposefully trying to sneak (he has probably scared rainbow or Lucas multiple times by doing this..)

-I'm not sure weather to headcanon that his wings were damaged by a steve really early on in the steve saga (like before rainbow could speak or maybe when dark was still pretending to be blue) or if it was smth that happened when he was still an assassin but it's one of those!!!

-hes an avian.. heh... if u couldn't tell from the ref sheet.. but NOT a chicken!! The chicken jokes are just bc of the hoodie and bc his feathers look a lil similar :3

-he has like 2 of the same chicken hoodie he'll wear most often but still has some normal outfits AND assassins outfits and weapons he keeps away (most are green or have some sort of green in them heh.. I might draw that later)

Being actually killed by a sword or something of the sort they are not used to seeing, and are very touchy on the subject

Finaaaaally got to sharing this. Inserted my own lil pre-fall Lucifer design there. Was initially a bit frustrated with how the halos should look bc i don't usually do a lot of designing for those, but I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. I went with a huge princely crown vibe for Lucifer, inspired by his lil ball of flame in his demon form to represent his, like, Morningstar-ness. And yes, I hc his eyes being gold when he was in heaven; gives royal vibes. Also one of the reasons Alastor in this AU loves his demon form, as Luci's eyes shine in the same gold as it did back then, along with being surrounded by blood red sclera(huge upgrade in his opinion and infinitely hotter-)

For Alastor, I went with an earthy tone. My design for him in this AU went through a lot lol, tho they were subtle. Im sticking with this tho i think, the color scheme for me is just the right amount of simple and unassuming, as well as still standing out amongst other angels. Idk might change it who knows. I was originally going for antlers for his halo, but my finger slipped and it turned into that and I have no regrets-

Also, the little flowers in his halo react to his mood! Halos are tangible in the Hellaverse, but I imagine ofc it bears a deep connection to their wearer. The roses bloom when he's happy, wilt a bit when upset, thorns get more prominent when angry, petals flare when startled, etc!

Yknow, i was planning on revealing them one at a time, but there's 18 characters and i feel like it's gonna take me some time to even begin drawing the next person, so why not reveal it now?

Here's a list of who is who, as well as a bit of info (this is a long one so brace yourselves);

The Architect = Grian

- as already revealed, Grian's power is psychokinesis (which is closely related to, but is not telekinesis). The first part of his poem, "Mind over matter", reveals this but there's more to it than that. His wings are also thought to be part of his powers, but whether or not that's true will be revealed in the actual story i'll write. The character introduction hinted at some things, but I'm not gonna point them out until much later.

(Since I haven't properly introduced the rest of the cast yet, I'll avoid mentioning their powers or any other info. You guys will just have to either wait for their introductions, or take a wild guess. I'll just give you guys some behind the scene of each alias and poem)

Vex = Scar

- I honestly had a hard time coming up with the alias for Scar. Eventually, I settled for Vex because some fans headcanon Scar as a vex hybrid, also because the name means "to bring trouble" or "to annoy by petty provocations", which is close to what I plan for Scar in this AU. Also, his poem "A silver tongue, a voice that sways" not only gives a nod to how he usually swindles people in the life series but it also hints at what his power is.

The Mechanic = Mumbo

- I mean... i think it's kinda obvious the person whose poem says "Where machines are present, his genius stands" is gonna be Mumbo. I think i could've thought of a better alias for Mumbo, but I just couldn't at the time, and I guess this has already stuck so... yeah, Mechanic it is for Mumbo.

Trapline = Impulse

- I haven't really watched Impulse that much so I didn't really know what power to give him. But then I watched one of his build and seek videos and I learned that he's good at redstone, so I decided to make his power have something to do with machines as well. And since we already have Mumbo as the tech guy, I just decided to have Impulse be the trap guy. Hence his poem, "A snare unseen, a trap well laid". The alias Trapline just sounded cool to me.

Scarlet Moon = Pearl

- I mean... i think the alias already gives it away. Anyways, Pearl's alias and power was one of the ones that came easy to me. I wanted her whole theme to still be tied to the moon so... Scarlet Moon it is. As for her powers, the first line of her poem, "Gravity bows to her lunar might", kinda gives it away.

Timekeeper = Bdubs

- I don't know much about Bdubs as well, nor have I watched any of his POV (i found the life series through martyn so i mainly watch his pov), but i've seen fanfics and fanart alike of him having a clock and his moss cloak thingy, so i decided to base his power on that. So the first line of his poem, "Time bends where flowers bloom", gives a nod to that, as well as hint at his powers. Bdubs' powers is one of the things I'm very proud of. His character in this AU is also one of the more complex characters. As for his alias, the public only knows about one part of his powers so I thought, "what would people call someone with that power?", and I came up with Timekeeper.

Blaze = Tango

- I actually feel bad for giving Tango a very basic alias, but i really can't think of anything else. I only really got interested in Tango during Double Life, cuz him with Jimmy is really wholesome. I noticed that fanon is that Tango is a blaze hybrid so I just took that and ran. I also loved his reaction in Double Life to the ranch burning, so the last part of his poem, "Heat and flame, in fury's daze", gives a nod to that as well as his powers. Honestly, most of the characters' poems hint at both their powers and something that reminds me of them.

Phantom = Etho

- Honestly, i don't really remember my exact thought process on why I chose Etho's alias and power to be what they are. I think it was literally because his skin is a character from Naruto, and so i guess I just thought, "Naruto... ninja... invisible, yes, yes." And i said i won't mention the characters' powers but actually, the first line of Etho's poem, "Invisible steps, shadows in tow", already gave it away. And there's more to his powers than that anyways, so I guess it's fine.

Maestro = Ren

- Ren's alias gave me a hard time cuz I couldn't think of something that sounds dramatic enough. I ended up going with Maestro since the word means "a master usually in an art", and since Ren gives such a theater kid vibe, I went with it. Now, I had a bit of trouble with his power, mainly because it's similar to another character's, but I evntually found a way to differentiate the two so it's all good now. I just love Ren and Martyn's dynamic in 3rd Life, and in any interaction they have honestly. Ren's entire poem gives a nod to his dramatic theater kid vibe, but the line "Illusions dance, a show so grand" hints at what I plan for his whole character to be in the AU. And it also parallels the other character with similar powers to Ren.

Fortress = Cleo

- Cleo was one of the harder persons to think of a power and alias for. So i went and looked through videos and fanfics alike to see what i can pick up, and I noticed that in most fanfics I read, Cleo is often depicted as a strong and reliable person, and I can get that vibe in the videos I've seen of them. What really solidified my decision for her power, though, is that one moment in Double Life where she tells Martyn that they're both survivors, and that really stuck to me. As for the alias, the word fortress already gives the impression of strong and formidable, so I went with that. It felt like a weird alias the first few times, but it eventually grew on me, and now I kinda like it. The first line of their poem, "Strong as stone, yet swift to mend", also hints at another part of their power.

Mirage = Martyn

- I love his and Ren's theater kids vibe, and it's one of the reasons why I made their powers to be so similar. The reason for Martyn's power and alias is mostly because he's well known for always sneaking around without being seen most of the time, and being able to get away unseen as well. It's also that one line from Skizz during Secret Life that really cemented the power and alias. Skizz was complementing Martyn's ability to sneak around unnoticed and commented, "I'm honestly only 50% certain that you're standing in front of me." Also, aside from the powers, Ren and Martyn's poems are also very similar in the first part. Whereas Ren's is "Illusions dance", Martyn's first line, "Illusions twist, reality bends", not only hints at what differentiates his powers from Ren, but also references how Martyn likes to gaslight people, especially during Secret Life.

Sanguine = Skizz

- Skizz's alias and power are ones I'm most proud of. Every character's powers mostly have more than one part to it, and Skizz's is one i really like. One part of his power, I got inspiration from a fanfic I read in AO3 called "Wake the Dead" by Kiki_the_kiwi. The other part, i got inspiration from the way I noticed Skizz usually becomes in the life series (which martyn also pointed out during his interview in the Imp & Skizz Podcast). The first line of Skizz's poem, "Blood and battle, strength reborn", references this. As for his alias, it took me a long time to pick. I wanted something that suited his power and his character, and I eventually ended up on Sanguine. While it's not the most cool-sounding name, its meaning actually suits Skizz's character in this AU. Sanguine has two meanings, the first being "someone who is cheery" and the other being "blood" or "bloodthirsty", so... you can probably guess why I chose this alias for Skizz, and it also suits the way his power works.

Fenrir = Joel

- Actually, Joel was the hardest to think of a power for because his chaotic nature in the life series doesn't really leave me with a solid idea. Eventually, I just stuck to his 3rd Life vibe, which involves wolves. Hence the alias Fenrir, which is some sort of wolf Norse god, I'm not really sure, I didn’t research it that much (i also just really like the name). As for his powers, the same with every other character's powers in this AU, there's more to it than the surface level. The last part of his poem, "Strength in the pack, yet prone to fall", hints at this.

Starstrike = Scott

- For Scott, i mostly stuck to the most common winner symbol for him, which is stars. His powers isn't as complicated as the others, and the last part of his poem, "A shield, a blade, a step so sure", hints at what he can do with his powers. As for his alias, I guess it just sounded cool to me. I wanted something that relates to his star theme, but also gives the impression of someone not to be messed with, so I went with Starstrike.

The Canary = Jimmy

- Honestly, do I even have to explain? Lol! Jimmy's powers also got inspiration from the same fic I got for Skizz, which is "Wake the Dead" by Kiki_the_kiwi on AO3 (you should really check it out). And his poem, "The first to fall when danger is near", also references his Canary Curse.

Quake = BigB

- i honestly didn't know much about BigB as well, but from what I remember of him, mostly in 3rd and Secret Life, he was mostly mining/digging underground while stuff happens on the surface. His poem, "A rumble deep, the earth obeys", kinda also hints at this, as well as reminds me of his backrooms shtick in Secret Life.

Flora = Gem

- I kinda feel bad, but I honestly gave up with Gem, since I know less about her than others members since she's still a bit new to the life series, and I didn't really watch any of her stuff before. But the vibe I got from her is that she's sweet, but also kinda dangerous. So i thought, the alias Flora sounds sweet, but since it refers to plants and the like, it could also mean danger since there are dangerous plants. Her powers, though, isn't what you would initially think. Like I said, there's more to the characters' powers than what is on the surface level. And Gem's poem, "Nature's strength in her entwines", not only hints at another part of her powers, but also references where I got the inspiration for her powers, which is a certain character from the anime/manga called "Bungou Stray Dogs".

Nightshade = Lizzie

- Lizzie's power was one of the easiest to think of, but of course, there's more to her powers. The name Nightshade is something I really like, and with it being a beautiful plant usually associated with darkness and mystery, I thought that it suits Lizzie well, especially in the AU. Her poem, "In darkness she dwells with deadly grace", further insinuates this.

Aaaand, that's all of them! Sorry for the long post, but I also wanted to share my thought process in picking the alias for each character. And while I don't want to reveal too much of their powers until they get properly introduced, i figured it's fine to touch on the behind the scenes of it for a bit.

hi quick random question, do you think Kyoto students and utahime especially her dynamic with Gojo could have been utilised a bit better in shibuya because they have potential if they were fleshed out.

what are your thoughts i just feel there could have been potential.

There certainly was a potential anon!

Reading this linkspooky anon ask, she said that the mechamuru traitor plot line could've been fleshed out more to point out the flaws of the school system(which gege isn't really interested in exploring) thus also allowing us to explore the differences between teacher Gojo and Utahime plus their kids. I agree with what the anon and she had to say so imma try to explain it further.

I know canon told us that Utahime was able to figure out the mole via process of elimination but if we were to really to draw out the traitor plot line, I can imagine Utahime, the investigator, digging deeper into the motive on why possible Mechamaru even considered doing it. She's an attentive teacher afterall so I wouldn't doubt she probably cares about why her kid ends up like that. In this way, we get to see the differences between how Gojo and Utahime treat their kids as well as how the school system using these kids as child soldiers affects them. Through this way, we get to see Gojo and Utahime interact more. I’d dare say that Utahime will probably call out the way how absent and “sink-or-swim” Gojo’s ways of teaching are. I mean, it does work for his students, but sometimes he ignores a crucial and obvious part that they are STILL kids.

That’s the whole point of Nanami’s care for Yuuji who’s originally under Gojo’s wing, and how Yuuji expressed that it’s Nanami underestimating his skills when in fact, Yuuji is STILL a child, and Nanami, as the adult, has to protect him.

Gojo is not too aware of this fact that they ARE still child soldiers because he is raised in the same system afterall. However, with Utahime’s caring, and doesn’t-take-any-bullshit-from-Gojo personality, there’s no doubt she’ll call the fuck out of him. 

Moving on to the actual students themselves, I actually like how Gege kept the Kyoto kids lowkey in this arc and when they showed up, they were a team (even Todo included with his help with Yuuji). I'd like it more if we were shown how the Kyoto kids navigated the culling game arc because the game could have forced Kyoto plus Tokyo to cooperate with each other. Maybe even under Utahime's wing because most of the adults got nerfed in Shibuya. Also, Kyoto kids offer the weaker pov things in the series, and I'm all out for underdog characters. There’s just lots of inner conflict going on when you’re in a world who favors the strong while the weak gets hammered down. 

Moreover, another thematic potential I can think for the kyoto-tokyo dynamic is sharing comradery on entering adulthood. This is somehow shown with Kamo & Maki vs Naoya fight, and imo, this fight is a good CANON example that "at the very verryyy least"  fulfilled the potential of the Kyoto-Tokyo dynamic.

The goodwill event shows the battling philosophies of the schools, however it also shows how complementary they are..Kyoto wants to be understood in a lashing out way but Tokyo merely responded with callousness to it and has the "who cares what others think" mindset.

I mean Tokyo ain't wrong about their individualistic mindset but at the same time, it just sounded unsympathetic especially when all those kids are all in the SAME boat being child soldiers under the jjk ruthless system. Kyoto kids unhealthily lashes out but they aren't wrong about it either cuz it's a reality that they suffer a lot from this system. These openness of Kyoto Tech however did make them closer like mutamiwa and kyoto girls (mai, miwa, momo).

Overall, Tokyo needed the Kyoto comrade nature while at the same time Kyoto needed the independence of Tokyo kids and in that kamo-maki vs Naoya fight, it showed us how these philosophies made a great working teamwork for them...

Recap to that fight, Naoya shows up as a cursed spirit and boom maki has to deal with it now luckily Kamo is there to help. With the help of Kamo's teamwork, Maki was bought some time to recover (deal with those samurai and sumo duo) and boom defeat him. 

Kamo sympathised with Maki’s situation after the fight. Even back in the fight with Megumi, Kamo seems to be one trying to seek understanding from kids under the big clans because he kinda understands the pressure they are under. Despite barely interacting on screen, it's no wonder 100% Kamo backed up Maki. Moreover, what makes this fight pair up fulfilling is the parallels they have despite being different ends of the spectrum. They even opened up about their family problems, and this is coming from Maki who tends to keep to herself.

Maki opens up and give advice in communicating more to their family because Maki regretted not doing the same for their mom, and we cut to throwback of the Kamo’s mom was that she named him Noritoshi just to spite the Kamo clan.

I've seen criticism about this part. It's pretty shitty the mom named her kid practically Hitler,  abandoned the same kid, and expects the kid himself to come back, and I agree with the criticism. However, looking at it from a different angle, it's shown at the same time that jjk is a coming of age series, kids growing into adulthood aka shouldering the shit that adults have failed to do...

Adults can be shit at doing their job to their kids like what Kamo's mom did to Noritoshi. Like c'mon mom! you could have done your job as an adult and be the one to approach your kid or pull him out of the clan situation but no. Sometimes the Reality is fully accepting that parents are shitty sometimes and the kid of the situation has to push themselves to be mature and take over the adult's work, and as for Kamo, that is having to be the one to find his mother to find closure and from then on, he will be the one to decide what will be next.

actually, bending as a dino was one of my first thought experiments, came way before anyone had any dino designs! ive always wanted to make sure to preserve the whole magic martial arts vibe of atla, even in dino form. and combat is such a big thing in atla that im constantly shifting things around in my head to try and make sure that everything feels balanced. i don't want dino bending to be the definitive replacement for human bending, yknow?

im gonna plop the rest of my response under read more cuz it got pretty long. here we go!

as for how bending actually looks, my thought was that dinos primarily use their head and tails for major bending motions, as most dinos dont have long or flexible limbs that would do much good, at least compared to human limbs. each bending looks slightly different, as with their human forms.

earthbenders are the easiest to visualize to me, as mostly they just do a lot of stomping and head throwing. foot goes down, rock goes up.

airbenders mostly rely on appendages that are feathered, so flapping wings or slamming down a very feathered tail like a fan. i have no idea what a non-winged airbender would do. probably not be very good at airbending.

waterbending is kinda muddy honestly, in my head they're mostly ground based tail and head swingers. less flipping than an airbender, but more mobile than an earthbender. i feel like sokka would use his head a lot though. he's not a bender, so if he wants to get a concussion blugeoning a parasaurolophus, go ahead man.

also also, airbenders and waterbenders can absolutely propell themselves with bending. i mean i guess all of them could if you want, but it's super common in air and water. air dinos flying in dino forms that aren't *quite* built for sustained flight (aang is a microraptor, which is a gliding dino, and not actually able to fly, but with airbending, that doesnt matter!) and water dinos bending while swimming in order to torpedo themselves through the water.

and then firebending is mostly reliant on the tail and legs if possible, basically use the tail as a replacemnt for legs in human form. loooots of roundhouse kick stuff. with a tail. also i was thinking that maybe it's normal to be able to spit fireballs like a dragon? but it's still kinda hard, and something most people can only do in dino form. idk about that one, i just like the idea.

i drew a bit of concept art for this waaay back, but honestly im not all that well versed in how to draw movement, so i feel like the firebender there is the only really clear representation of my thoughts. here's that pic, and a link to the post.

in terms of visualizing the movement, there's this one video game project though called dinoSword by Jean Nguyen that actually really represents what im thinking, even if it's a bit flashy and fast for what i mean. either way, it's badass and might give a good point of reference. absolutely check out their work, here's a compilation of some of their animations

and here's a gif of another one of their animations which i will try so so hard to describe in the alt text

so yeah, all in all super badass! definitely faster and more deadly than what i have in mind, but the general idea about the potential movements and range of motion for these dinos is there

(also a side note, in terms of species for dino forms, my half baked idea is that it isn't really based on nation or bending style as it is geographical location. like, those are obviously linked, but the cause is the physical location. so you can find spinosaurus anywhere you find water, even though it is commonly believed to be a water tribe dino. there are swamp spinos, earth spinos, and yeah, even fire spinos. yes, there are conotations and societal consequences to a fire spino, regardless of how accurate those assumptions are. it got worse with the war

the msot common species for each nation are: mid to large raptors for the fire nation, spinos abd cold weather dinos for water tribes, large herbivores for the earth kingdom, and tiny tiny raptors or flight adjacent dinos for the air nomads. maybe also some lil herbivores, and they just dont get to fly in dino form.)

in terms of what the actual element looks like while moving, i imagine that dinos would have a rougher time with anything that has a huge amount of finesse to it. delicate movements or anything super precise might not be worth it to do in dino form, and most attacks would be more explosive than their human alternative. that whole thing katara did where she incased zuko in a ball of ice in the s1 finale? not happening as a spinosaurus. so while a dino form might give a boost in power, it isn't always practical at the time. not to mention it takes energy to transform, and sometimes it's best to save that for the fight itself.

the general feel of the movements is much more flexible and weirdly athletic than any actual dinosaur would ever be. but at the same time, i want to impose this idea that dino bending, while powerful, can be pretty clumsy, and each dino brings it own limitations. large dinos like sokka and katara are automatically slower, and in fights like the ones we see in atla, that really matters. small dinos like aang and toph also have to deal with how lightweight they are. their natural defenses are to run and hide, so they dont get much in terms of physical equipment the way a large carnivore or herbivore would. they're much more reliant on their bending to stay safe than say a big ol ankylosaurus, who's built like a tank.

I was wondering what your take would be on WF!Bee? Like before everything happens and he’s sent to boot camp. I kind of imagined a more street smart version of him that’s rough around the edges but still has a sense of humor, even if it’s a bit darker. He basically built himself from nothing on his colony and had to learn quickly before it had a chance to suffocate him. Through his experience he’s been humbled a bit, but when he’s talking about his speed and skills, he’ll still brag and say he’s the fastest mech/greatest weapons engineer to ever be sparked.

As for his whole relationship with Blitz, I liked to imagine them being physically affectionate with each other. They practically have a long distance relationship due to Blitzwings work, and when they finally get to see each other again, they stick to together like superglue, whether it be lightly caressing the others (door)wing or clinging to each other like koalas (with Bee being Blitzwings size, they have a much easier time cuddling). And of course there’s Bee’s gift giving love language; Blitzwing is practically armed to the derma with finest quality weaponry the galaxy can offer, courtesy of his sweet mechfriend who want to make sure he can beat the autobots good and swiftly. That’s not mentioning every upgrade Bee has preformed on every piece of equipment he could get his servos on, he’s practically given Blitz’s ship a full makeover by now.

That is really cool! I like that idea a lot too!

I thought about how'd he look like as a warframe and i got an idea-

Like what if he magically got his original frame back but with some tweaks to fit earth? They fight over Allspark Shard, he got buried in a mountian of scrap, then some weird glowing shit happens and molten metal pours over and a freshly forged Warframe emerges from the pile. In this he has a monster truck alt mode; I was imagining sorta viking warrior vibe to it, he's got in-build swords that can electrocute ya, his tires are on the back rather than on the shoulders, no doorwings. Also some bronze detailing on top of shiny yellow. Here's a quick sketch of the general look cuz i suck at drawing detailed art from my head-

Yes he got yellow optics cuz they are cool and he's not autobot so no blue. Also i thought he'd have like, an emblem of something like a hammer on his chassis instead of the faction insignia, like a mark that he leaved on everything he forges to sell so everyone knows it was him that made it. Also fun fact- he has retractable claws, except they're thinner and also work as welding tool. An easy way to work with tiny details and parts.

I like the idea that he was considered the greatest engineer/smith/forgemaster that ever existed, therefore Megatron has high respect for the guy. He was nicknamed 'The Architect' and the rumour of the rising legend spread before mysteriously disappearing [aka Bee getting taken and reformatted].

Before he got reformatted tho... hmmm. Yeah his love language would defo be giving gifts, be it weapons or just small sentimental things like jewelry or statuettes made of metal. He is kinda good with engraving, not on the same level as Blitz but it's still nice. Surely he was great at giving bear hugs, really keen on physical contact. My bet is that he was stronger than Blitzwing and could easily pick him up and carry around- having to carry all the heavy materials for the forge n all. I think Blitz was just a seeker back then and then got upgraded to triple-changer. And then they got conjuxed- ah you probably read the other reply so i won't repeat.

And way earlier- he was kind but also rough, he was kinda like Ratchet when repairing his upgrades on others- complaining and judging them for whatever they did that broke the thing. He was playful and didn't really take into account if the fella he spoke with was a high placed individual or just a random street bot, he treated all his customers equally. I like to think he got taken off the streets by a smith that taught him all he knows and then Bee took over the workshop once he was old enough. Then one day an out-of-ordinary mech came into his workshop and tadah, we got a love story.

Even tho he was a Warframe he didn't like to fight, he preferred to spend time in his workshop tinkering away to his Spark's desire. Once he got on the autobot team and on earth, he surely did some small things for the group to help them recover- new med tools for Ratchet, maybe some shurikens for Prowl, little upgrades to make their weapons or stuff more durable and so on. Besides Bulkhead, he never shared anything from his past to anyone, all his team knows is that he's outstanding with tinkering. He doesn't like to dwell on what he lost because of some autobots that forced him into this new life.

I got a new one to introduced to y'all

Meet Valora my durge. I know it says storm sorcery but she's actually wild magic sorcerer. Above is obviously from the game and the below ones are what I would imagine. Temple of Bhaal outfit would be pregame(and she gets wings cuz they're cool and I say so). Massive love for Hero Forge because that is such a cool website and service. One day I would love to buy some stuff from there 🤩 Carries the dagger that has the netherstone in her tail when killing.

I will draw her eventually but I do not have the skills or patience right now to try.

So my original concept was to have her be a dragonborn and I themed her off of Ansur thinking it would be kind of cool if they had a descendant. This was before I realized that the bhaal spawn is supposed to be just straight up made from the god flesh. So I started rotating the idea in my mind for a while because I did still want to have the the dragon connection but I don't like deviating that hard from the actual story material. Yesterday I finally thought of a solution.

The durge is like a symbiote but made of Bhaal's flesh. Valora is the name of the dragonborn. The Bhaalblob has hopped enough bodies they forgot their original name, if Bhaal even gave them one. So like in base form they are just a little bloody slug like lump but she can invade freshly killed corpses and take on that person's identity perfectly. This is also how she can kill so easily before the game begins. She will kill someone, hop in the fresh corpse, and walk off. Leaving a complely out of place corpes throwing off investigations. She can then just walk off as the victim and vibe somewhere else as the heat dies down. The dragon born she is in the game was her latest victim, a descendent of Anser and well liked and respected woman that worked managing the bank, Gortash suggested going after her to gain more of a financial foothold in the city. Then Orin did her thing and Valora forgot everything, including that she's a nearly immortal sentient blob of flesh, so she goes through the game much more carefully with this body thinking that she could properly die.

Here are rough sketches I have done of the blob while at work. I'll do a more finalized version once I have a tablet again. I want to make them like semi-transparent but I don't know how to do that properly with pen and paper. Also, this is begging for me to make a gif.

She gains the memories and even takes on some of the personality of the victims that she body snatches. So here's a little bit more on Valora, before she was taken over, as well as some important personality points before being tadpoled.

Valora as just a dragonborn was a bit of an ice queen to be honest. Not like evil but very cold towards their others and very much business-minded. Really loves her job at the bank and math overall since it doesn't involve a lot of feelings™. Despite that, they are actually in a relationship before being taken over by the bhaalblob. She's mated to Klarrvox although it's a rather loveless relationship despite his best efforts. Once being taken over, this relationship starts to change though. Bhaalblob (who I will now refer to as BB just for for simplicity's sake) actually quite enjoys being in different relationships. They have hopped into many a family due to their murder shenanigans to try and experience some of the connection that is missing from how they were spawned. They've taken on the roles of children, fathers, mothers, grandparents, all manner of different lovers, even a pet one time. Each of these different lives that they've experienced before being attacked by Orin lived within their memories and made them pretty sporadic as a result, but also someone very much in love with the idea of life. It was a bit of a warped love though. They loved experiencing it and then seeing what would happen after tragedy strikes. Especially when they could hop into someone else and be an outside observer after the deed is done.

So overall they were pretty content with life before being tadpoled and Klarrvox was quite enjoying his newly affectionate wife. But speaking of lovers, I'm sure you might be wondering what's up with their relationship with Gortash considering how involved he is with durge shenanigans. In short, they really don't care deeply for him. He doesn't have any relationships that would be interesting for them to explore. They work together just fine but they want to keep it strictly. Business related. Gortash however does not! He is highly interested in the body hopping Bhaal spawn. Although I think it's more interesting if he doesn't know exactly how they do it. So he's not fully aware that he's interested in a sentient blood slug. So yeah I think that's about all I've got for them right now. Feel free to ask questions if you like and I will update their tag with more information as it develops.

Now a sad lady. If you would have asked my favorite animus dragon before book 14, I would have said Turtle hands down. But then we got two really cool very interesting deep animus characters. It's a hard choice between Jerboa III and Opal, but I think Jerboa edges out for me. Her backstory was terribly sad and her reasons for wanting to exist isolated are justified. Poor lady just wants her quiet beach.

I tried a different perspective and kind of hate it. Oops.

Headcanony things:

-I always like the designs where she has triangle spot things everywhere so yeah

-Her and Glacier were romantically involved when Glacier was younger. However they eventually broke it off and became good friends (this is mostly cuz I adore blaze x glacier and yeah for sure I could see glacier and blaze being poly, but Jerboa with her backstory and trauma I think would want one single partner )

-Jerboa likes Snowfall a lot because she reminds her of Glacier

-Walks with a bit of a limp due to her missing talons, but it's very hard to notice

-When the spell is not engaged, she has both a talon prosthetic and tail barb prosthetic, eventually she wears these more than the spell, especially after some HiveWing mechanics improve them for her!

-Has dreams of her past lives, she thought they were just dreams until she figured out what her mom did. (I tried poorly to illustrate her waking from one of these)

-SandWings feel like bearded dragons and have lots of little firm spiky things. Also big ears for heat regulation. I think I want em to have the little face stripe things that cheetahs have (?) to help the same way their black sclera does.

-Honestly, Riku cannot bake for the life of him. He's probably tried multiple times but, they never work out and he has no clue why. He ends up just not doing it because he got frustrated.

-He 100% prefers to stay inside if he can. He absolutely hates the cold and often times will flat out refuse unless he really needs to go outside for something.

Dress up (do they dress up for Halloween?)

-He says it's too 'childish' and yet, he ends up doing it anyways. He doesn't go over the top and tends to stay with something less noticeable.

Excited (are they excited for the upcoming holiday(s)?)

-He hates the weather but, he does look forward for December to roll around so he can finally start thinking about something to get you for Christmas. He likes Christmas over Halloween.

Fear (does Halloween scare them? are they easily scared?)

-Says he doesn't get scared but, you see him jump every time you both walk up to someones house and one of their decorations moves or makes a loud noise. (It's a little amusing honestly.)

-He enjoys the cookies and doesn't mind making a gingerbread house with you if you wanted to but, he prefers just eating them because he thinks it's a bit of a waste to make a house and let it get stale.

-He 'celebrates' by scaring the kids who come trick or treating at his house. He doesn't even do it intentionally, he just has an angry look on his face but, he does like to hang out the candy.

-He doesn't like being outside in the cold but, he does like snowball fights. He gets competitive during them and often has a lot of fun when engaging in one.

-The thing that makes Riku most happy is just being with you honestly. Wherever you are, he'll often come with. Whether it be shopping for presents or just sitting inside with you.

Knitting (can they knit? what do they make?)

-He's tried on multiple occasions but, he just can't seem to get it. If you know how to knit, he likes to watch you while you do it. He finds it interesting and often tries to learn just by watching you do it.

Leaf (do they play in the leaves? do they like to look at the changing leaves?)

-He hates that he loves to play in the leaves. He loves to just go on walks with you and crunch the leaves that have fallen onto the sidewalk.

Music (do they like the holiday music? do they listen to it often?)

-He honestly can't stand most holiday music. He just doesn't find it appealing and doesn't understand why people need specific music for a holiday.

New Years (what do they do to celebrate?)

-Nothing special. He just sleeps through it and probably just texts you "Happy New Year" at midnight.

-Riku gets you things that he knows you want. He doesn't want to wing it on a present and get something you may hate so he'll make sure it's something he knows you want or like.

-He's one of those people who hate seeing Christmas decorations before December has even started. He also acts so annoyed when he sees them and always mentions how it's too early for decorations.

Scary (do they enjoy scary movies? haunted houses?)

-Again, he says he doesn't get scared but, he does. He jumps at any jumpscares and then proceeds to glare at them like he didn't just scared. He prefers scary movies because he knows it's not real so he takes those better.

Time (who do they spend their time with?)

-He normally will spend his time with his family and you more than anyone else. He makes sure to have special time just for you so you feel special!

Vacation (do they prefer to stay or go somewhere else during the cold months?)

-He would enjoy to go on a vacation for Christmas but, he knows that likely won't be possible and plus, he'd rather stay with you!

Xmas (what do they do for Christmas?)

-Riku keeps it minimal. He doesn't do anything fancy but, he does get you a gift or two that he's heard you mention that you wanted. He also enjoys decorating the tree with you.

Yearly (what are some yearly traditions?)

-He doesn't have any particularly unique ones, he'll just pick up on your traditions and join you in them. He likes to be with you so he'll tag along whenever he can.

Zzz (do they sleep more in the winter/autumn?)

-He doesn't sleep more or less during the colder seasons, he just sleeps about the same as he would during any other seasons.

Vbros "worst timeline" au thingy.... Ignore this if you're worried about major spoilers. I just need a place to talk about this and gather my thoughts before I finish drawing it + without the restraints of the twitter word limit

Okay so the basic gist of this is "what if dean + the triad never found hank in ritbotbh and he became a villain instead of going home w them". I think they were still looking for him (obviously) but they didn't get there in time for before his fainting spell after bobbi told him she wasn't his mom. And he just snaps after that basically he's alone and there's nothing for him anywhere so he goes off on his own. He slowly makes his way back to nyc for a bit just arching random people as an unregistered villain/vigilante and when he gets back he starts to hench for the monarch (through gary's advice). After a good few years of henching he registers as an actual villain and here we are now.

This is like almost 10 years post-ritbotbh btw.Hank and dean are both almost 30

Hank:

his costume is based off one of the monarch's prototype costumes (the one with the butterfly wings mask) and his little bat costume in venture libre. Of course it had to be bat related bc batman... he's called "the bat" bc he calls himself that sometimes anyways but obviously he can't be Batman

His dissociation and depersonalization is Really Really Bad.it's so much worse than it ever is in ritbotbh.he has an extremely poor sense of self and horrible grasp on reality

Dr mrs the monarch helped make and design his costume with him :-) hank and her + gary (obviously) and the monarch are all still close even though hank doesn't hench for the monarch anymore. Gary and hank just get along interests wise, him and dr mrs' personalities bounce off eachother well, and that also goes for him and the monarch but they also bond over the clone stuff and just. Obviously the monarch is still arching dr venture in this*, and I feel like especially after no one came and found him (hank) in ritbotbh he holds a lot of resentment for his family. Plus the childhood trauma. Anyways all this to say they bond over hating rusty

He's still not a super violent person just bc I don't think it's in his nature to be but he's much more aggressive than he would be in a normal-er timeline for a combination of reasons... like i said the resentment for everyone esp his family building up over time, being around other aggressive people (villains) all the time and having to exaggerate that aspect for his own villain persona, and the depersonalization certainly doesn't help

Also he has the mullet again. Out of laziness to cut his hair more than anything but I think he's trying to mirror gary a bit (who IN MY MIND has one)

Dean -

Works a desk job at a super science facility. he never actually studied it so he didn't want to be in a lab or anything but he didn't know what else to do, and it was the only thing familiar to him bc he was still also finding himself during ritbotbh and losing hank definitely halted that so he went back to the only thing he knew

Still extremely guilty and miserable over hank's disappearance/presumed death for sure

Male pattern baldness got to him. He looks a little bit like college rusty

He also has horrible dissociation/depersonalizaiton post-ritbotbh. Again it was bad before but not this bad. He's on autopilot pretty much all the time and barely processes basic day to day stuff anymore. He mostly avoids people too outside of neccesary interactions like at his workplace

Idk what else to say he's just really depressed 😓😓 he's guilty over his brother's "death" he works a shitty job in a field he doesn't like and thats piled onto his already existing unaddressed trauma and mental illness he's just a sad guy

I think hank and dean meet again just by chance bc hank is assigned to arch someone who works at the same lab dean does. And hank does this huge dramatic break in thing and dean is just There and idk

omg hii ty for tag srry i didnt see this earlier hehe. anyways umm uhhh here we go :3

1. A Silent Voice - it just makes me so damn emotional. i watch it whenever im not doing too well cuz it reminds me that change is possible ig. life has its ups and downs and ur not forever doomed if u made a mistake. kinda taught me to be less harsh on myself. ive always been bad at accepting ive been an asshole in the past and actually apologizing, but im working on it. i used to separate myself from people since a lot of people avoided me, and it wasnt until the beginning of high school that i might be the asshole here, and not them. ive been exploring myself a bit more now, being more accepting, trying not the start old bad habits again, and really really trying my best to improve. and i think it’s really paid off. i feel like im surrounded by such wonderful, supportive people now, and im really thankful for the people who made me realize my mistakes and help me fix them. oops accidental half vent hehe but yeah that movie really makes me think about all those things :,)

2. Up - oh my god. it’s just so beautiful. the storytelling in the opening scene is beautiful. despite there being no words, you can fully understand an entire lifetime of events. you can tell the ups and downs of their lives just through lighting and emotion. kinda crazy. anyways, that’s just one part, so enough about that. yk, one of my fav tropes is literally found family, soo, obviously i love up. and putting that new found family over something that you’ve been looking up to your entire life and sacrificing that dream? mwah. i love it. and also, talking dogs!! flying house!!!!! like, when you really think about it, it’s actually really random. but it doesnt feel random. i never once questioned it. it’s just… neat! and i love that

3. How to Train your Dragon 1 + 2 - grew up with httyd since the age of 4 or 5. i remember when the second movie came out, and i was begging for the dvd the instant i heard about it. my mom surprised me with it one day after school, and i began watching as soon as i got home. ive always just been a huge fan of dragons (though i wasnt a wings of fire kid) and i’d draw them literally everywhere. i even made a tiny clay toothless! the movies themselves are gorgeous. hiccup’s journey is not just about gaining toothless’ trust, but also his whole friends and family. it took him a lot of courage to go against berk’s norm of slaying dragons, but the end result turned out extremely satisfying, clearly worth the struggles and sacrifices he made along the way. also, it kinda is found family. and httyd 2 was just pretty cool, man, i dunno. showed that berk wasnt the only threat to dragons, and that not everything was just instantly sunshine and rainbows. shit can still happen. life’s rough, man. now hiccup has to deal with responsibility and maturity. and also hiccup’s mom is my fav character she’s literally sooo cool. ig im not that emotionally attached to the 3rd film. i also found it odd that they just.. left. even though the movies r about dragons. i usually do like bittersweet endings, but i dunno, just wasnt a fan of this one. that’s just my personal opinion tho :]. but yeah httyd 1+2 r my fav movies of all time probably. just not my #1 COMFORT movie.

4. Star Wars 1-6 - starting with the originals (cuz i have more to say about the prequels), i just think they’re cool! i mean, this innocent little guy suddenly just got thrown into a bunch of space war stuff and now he’s gonna beat up his dad and shit which is absolutely bonkers but in a /pos way. loss of innocence is also rad lime damn we get to watch this dude learn and stuff. also they’re just pretty iconic and i respect them cuz they’re classics yk. ok anyways the prequels i love them yes rots is my fav sw movies and you cant stop me. i love clone wars too and i love researching about the history of the jedi and stuff like that. watching anakin and obi-wan develop as characters and the comparisons/contrasts of how they react to different situations really just intrigued me. even from the start, you can tell how they’re completely different people, and that a betrayal was pretty much bound to happen. i also love shakespeare heheh

5. Ratatouille - oh man. hear me out. there is just something so simple and calming about this film that makes me happy. ok first of all i love france and it’s pleasing to look at and the aesthetic is nice lol. ok anyways so remy is literally the coolest guy ever. takes risks, even if it means he’ll be looked down upon by his family. kinda reminds me of hiccup im ngl. except, instead of only his family not approving of his actions, neither does humanity. and hell, he doesnt even get the credit for the food in the end. but he doesnt even care, cuz he’s doing what he loves. he has people around him who love him, and that’s enough. it’s just so wholesome!!

IT’S ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE. omg. as a person who’s also insecure about some parts of my body, it kinda hit hard. and it rlly shows how there r also gonna be people who genuinely appreciate those parts of you. this movie didnt have anything like really crazy going on, nothing huge, but that’s what i like about it. it was just kinda about life ig, and how to enjoy it. just a simple lil’ romance. also the art style is amazing!! the colors are so bright, but they dont disturb you at all. it’s just pretty! sometimes i’d pause the movie just to take in all the beautiful views. and i love how the line work looks, too. outlined shading is always cool. it’s actually what motivated me to focus on art more, and give me the courage to even consider going to art school and pursuing it as a career. aaa this movie just makes me so happy :]

7. Howl’s Moving Castle - to be honest, i had no clue what was going on when i watched this. but did i like it? YES. I WAS OBSESSED. the music still gets me soo emotional i love it. the whole story is kinda vague and wacky, which is something i really like actually. i havent analyzed it that deeply since it’s a bit more complex and i havent had the time to yet, but i believe it has something to do with self esteem/discovery which is a topic i like to see and explore in art or media. additionally, the way that war is represented in this movie is downright terrifying, as it should be. the smoke and fire on the dark landscape with giant ominous aircrafts filling up the sky genuinely looks pretty darn scary. this just shows how the art is so, so good at expressing emotions through mood and color and lighting etc. i love the art, man. i love all ghibli films’ art. it’s so damn pretty, and i adore how each and every landscape has a story/inspiration behind it

Rodrick Rules (2011) - we always get together for movie nights, and watch whatever movie we have in mind, and then after it’s over we put on rodrick rules and fall asleep on top of one another on the couch. good times.

Ouran High School Host Club - the very first summer I was old enough to stay home alone, I would wait for my mom to leave for work, and I would pull all the pillows off the couch onto the floor and watch Ouran over and over again, absolutely enchanted. To this day, it still never fails to make me so happy, I will cry to the ending theme like it’s nobody’s business. So, that’s the closest thing I’ve got to a comfort show I guess.

The Hangover (2009) - uh. no comment.

Into the Spiderverse / Across the Spiderverse - yeah yeah we’re all obsessed with it, I know. I watched the original a whole bunch of times, can’t wait til the 2nd part is out on DVD so I can watch it on repeat :3

Call Me By Your Name (2017) - listen- for the longest time, I couldn’t stand this movie. I thought it was boring and confusing as fuck, everything is all subtext. Then I read the book and got obliterated by it, (mainly due to strangely similar events occurring in my life at the same time?). I had a LONG phase with this book; my copy is well-loved and covered in highlighter. when I watch this movie, it takes me back to the best summer I’ve ever lived.

BnHA Chapter 294: A Half-Assed Escape

Previously on BnHA: Mirio was all “SURPRISE I’M BACK THANKS TO OUR RESIDENT SEVEN-YEAR-OLD WHO RECENTLY EARNED HER BACHELOR’S OF BEING A TOTAL BADASS.” Kacchan was all, “you know what, Dabi’s been trending long enough, time to remind the fandom what a real G looks like,” and he blasted his little bleeding body back into the fray and was all “FROM HERE ON OUT CALL ME DYNAMIGHT!!” Mirio was all, “AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... oh, you’re serious,” and Kacchan was all “!!”, and so that’s the story of how my son got murdered twice in one day. Meanwhile in the Todoroki Drama Zone, Deku was all “STOP MURDERING MY FRIEND” and Dabi was all “THAT’S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS” and fandom had a whole big debate about Whether Or Not Dabi Trying To Murder Deku’s Friends And Mentors Is Any Of Deku’s Business, which went exactly how you think it went. Anyway, so then Deku yelled at Dabi, and Endeavor was all moved by his manly words and randomly went to go uppercut Machia in the chin. And, seeing as how the Momoserum finally chose that exact moment to kick in, Machia is now down for the count.

Today on BnHA: The Miriosquad handles the Nearly High End Noumus, freeing up Jeanist to jasphyxiate (okay that one doesn’t really work so well) the rest of the League. Compress is all “TIME FOR THIS MILD-MANNERED SIDE CHARACTER VILLAIN TO SHINE”, except that by “shine” what he actually means is “use his quirk to punch a literal hole right through his own ass to free himself.” The rest of the chapter is basically just a back and forth between him and Jeanist, with Jeanist trying to recapture him, and Compress repeatedly thwarting him by chopping more holes out of himself because HE’S FRESH OUT OF FUCKS, AND THE ONES AT THE STORE ARE ALL SOLD OUT, MOTHERFUCKERS. Anyway, so with Compress basically dying and all, Horikoshi is all “you know what that means”, and delivers a freshly-baked villain flashback revealing that Compress is a descendant of Harima Ouji, a.k.a. the Peerless Thief, a.k.a. some famous guy whom Gentle mentioned this one time for like two seconds back in the day. The chapter ends with Compress finally demasking himself and dumping Tomura back onto the ground, a.k.a. The Worst Possible Place For Tomura To Be. ( •﹏•)

Just a Normal Day

A short drabble about sea grunks having an average adventure, written in honor of their birthday.

Even before they got attacked by the Cthulhu beast, it had been a pretty average morning on the sea for the Pines twins.

Wake up at the crack of dawn (Ford) or closer to late morning (Stan); eat breakfast; reset the spell to ward off the vengeful leprechauns who might still be after them for stealing their treasure in case they’d figured out they were chasing a decoy trail by now; do a little late morning fishing, while keeping an eye out for that golden fish Stan was sure he’d seen swimming under their boat last week, and which he was hoping laid golden fish eggs or something; finally notice what time it was (Stan) and head inside to make lunch.

Just another normal day.

Stan was examining their supplies, trying to decide if it was worth breaking out some of the canned hamburger meat and throwing together sloppy Joes instead of making them eat fish again, when he was knocked skiwampus by the boat being yanked to a halt; as he struggled to regain his balance by grabbing onto the table, a vicious, blood-curdling roar came rumbling through the air from outside.

Stan sighed, and wondered if the kraken was back. In one swift motion he grabbed the spare harpoon they had hanging over the door, and stepped out to see if Ford needed help dealing with it.

It wasn’t the kraken.

It still looked like some kinda big octopus monster, though, with a mass of writhing tentacles where its face should be, and a bulbous head in the back just like an octopus body. The rest of it, at least as far as the torso, was kinda like a human’s but a little bigger (about the size of a baby whale), with slimy-looking green-brown skin and a pair of big, wrinkled, wet wings sticking out of its back. Whatever this thing was, it had grabbed onto the back of their boat, and was looming menacingly over Ford as Stan stepped outside.

“...and you are now my prisoners!” he bellowed, as his piercing golden eyes landed on Stan. “Surrender your weapons now, puny mortals, and I might be merciful!!!!”

“Yeesh, did we trespass on his territory or something?” Stan asked, leaning on the harpoon.

Ford shrugged with one shoulder, since he was trying to write in his journal at the same time. “He didn’t really say; he just jumped onboard and started threatening me.”

“Huh.” Stan looked up at the beast. “You the lord of this part of the ocean or whatever?”

The beast blinked-which looked pretty weird, his eyelids went sideways instead of up and down like humans-before nodding vigorously. “Yes! I am the lord of this part of the ocean, and you must surrender to me now, or else suffer my wrath!!!!” He slammed a fist down against the side of the boat, making it rock up and down so hard he had to scrabble to keep his balance. Stan coughed into his fist to hold back a snicker.

Ford tilted his head. “I could have sworn this was still the primary territory of the Manatee-Merfolk Alliance. Are you sure you haven’t made some kind of mistake?”

“What part of prisoners did you not understand?!” the beast demanded, spreading out his wings and shaking them as his tentacles writhed angrily. “Give up your weapons, now-all of them!!!!”

“...You sure you want that? It’s kind of gonna take awhile-”

“NOW, or I crush your boat in my mighty fist!!!!”

Stan glanced at Ford, who rolled his eyes and nodded. With a small sigh, they began disarming themselves.

...A minute passed and they were still at it.

Ford’s pile of weapons was almost as tall as he was, mostly consisting of long-range weapons like guns, but with a few vials of poisons and some handcuffs thrown into the mix.

Stan’s pile was more proportionate, but the number of places that weapons were produced from (including a smoke bomb that he’d somehow managed to keep tucked under his beanie) was frighteningly impressive.

The monster watched their progress with increasingly wide eyes; finally, as Stan produced another set of brass knuckles out of a secret pocket sewn onto the inside of his coat, he spluttered, “...Where were you keeping those?”

Stan just grinned shamelessly. “Trust me, sunshine, you don’t wanna know.”

“Okay, I think that’s everything,” Ford said at last, indicating the pile of weaponry.

“Yeah, well, I’m still workin’, gimme a minute.” Stan produced a switchblade, and tossed it onto his pile. Then, in a brief sleight of hand, he snatched another one from the pile and pretended to draw it out of his coat to toss it on next. “Hey, tentacles-face-ya think you could bring us back by Wednesday? We got a Zoom appointment ta keep, and our niece and nephew hate it when we’re late.” Another sleight of hand allowed him to scoop up another weapon.

“That’s not how this-now see here!” The monster drew himself up to his full height, nearly falling backwards off the boat. “You guys-you puny mortals are my prisoners! And as such, you need to understand that this is not a joking matter! I could squash you both like sea slugs if I wished! I’m all-powerful, an eons-old abomination whose very name would send you into madness if spoken aloud! So you better start quaking in fear and begging for mercy like proper captives!!!!”

Stan looked at Ford. “Sounds like we’re his first.” He looked back at the monster. “You’re doin’ great, buddy-good job on the whole threatening schtick.” He offered a thumbs-up, while using the other hand to snag another weapon that he pretended to produce from another hiding spot.

Ford winked at him, and looked back at their ‘captor.’ “Is this some sort of coming-of-age ritual for your species?” He produced his journal again, pen poised. “Very clever move, by the way, threatening our boat to get us to disarm ourselves. In the future, though, I would suggest that you try taking one of us hostage first, in order to create maximum-”

“STOP IT!”

The monster abruptly started pounding his fists against the side of the boat, nearly tipping it over before instead pitching him all the way onto the deck. “YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO-I’M YOUR-IT’S NOT FAIR-!”

It took Stan a moment to realize that the angry noises leaving his mouth (?) were accompanied by the sound of frustrated sobs.

He hissed through his teeth, and shot Ford a guilty look.

“...Oh boy. Looks like we got a little one here.”

Stan crossed the boat and crouched down in front of the weeping monster, putting a hand on his back and rubbing the spot right between his wings.

“Deep breaths, in and out. You’re not gonna get anything done like this, so just take a bit ta calm down, okay?”

The monster hiccuped and coughed, shrinking in on himself in a way that was painfully familiar to both of them.

Ford knelt down at his other side. “Maybe if you tell us why this is so important to you, we can provide some assistance?”

The monster shook his head and buried his head in his arms. “I just wanted-hic-to show my friends I could catch the Pines twins all by myself,” he croaked.

The two old men looked at each other in a mixture of surprise and slight alarm. “...You know who we are?”

That was finally enough to get him to sit up, wiping his eyes with his tentacles. “You kidding? Every creature of the seas knows who you are! You’re the guys who beat up krakens and steal gold from leprechauns and then you and your boat vanish without a trace! You’re the coolest cryptids ever!”

It took both of them a moment to digest that. By the time they did, though, they were grinning in equal delight.

“We’re cryptids?!” Ford asked, eyes practically brimming over with overjoyed tears.

“Yeah! And people at school were sayin’ you’re just a myth, but I knew you were real cuz my uncle saw your ship up in the Arctic last winter, and I was gonna capture you and bring you to class to show everyone how wrong they were and then I’d be famous and they’d stop calling me a weird runt all the time!” After a second his wings drooped, and he stared miserably down at the deck. “...Guess it was pretty dumb of me to think I could catch you all by myself.”

Stan put a hand on his shoulder. “...Kid...as much as we wanna help, we can’t just be your prisoners. We got our own lives ta get back to.”

“Plus, neither of us is able to breathe underwater,” Ford added.

The monster sighed, and pulled a strip of kelp from around his neck, turning one of the leaves until it was facing him. He squirted a stream of black ink from one of his tentacles, and dipped the tip of another one into the ink and used it to trace something that looked like a bunch of gobbledygook to Stan onto the leaf. “Humans...don’t...breathe...underwater.”

Awww...he’s a super nerd, just like Ford and Dipper!

That gave Stan an idea.

“Hey.” He nudged the monster. “What about a picture of us instead? Along with genuine proof of a close encounter?”

The monster’s head jerked up. “A picture?! Like with one of those weird magic boxes you humans carry around sometimes?!”

“That’s the one.” Stan grinned. He looked at Ford and jerked his head towards the cabin; his brother took the hint and headed for it, returning with an antique Polaroid camera that Ford had been experimenting on, but still took good pictures.

The monster’s tentacles began writhing around his face like they’d come to life, and he let out a high-pitched squeal of excitement.

“This is the greatest day of my life!!!!”

It took a bit of staging and directing and trying out different angles, but eventually they produced a set of photos that appeared to be of an eldritch abomination in training being attacked by, and bravely fighting off, the ferocious monster hunter Pines twins (hopefully nobody would think to ask how and why the monster had managed to get these pictures taken).

Then, while Stan took them into the cabin and soaked them in a special substance Ford had invented that would render them waterproof, Ford sat on the prow next to the young cryptid enthusiast and offered tips on future hunting adventures, comparing notes with him on some of the creatures they’d both seen. He also (with permission) took a few samples from the monster, including a long strip of skin (“Make it look like a wound I got in the fight! Man, this is gonna be so cool, Yog-Sothoth is gonna eat his heart out! Possibly literally!”) and some of the ink from his tentacles.

When Stan came back with the photos, he also handed over one of his spare brass knuckles that had lost a corner. “Have another souvenir, kid.”

The monster’s tentacles lashed out and wrapped around their faces in what felt like a really weird version of a hug before pulling away, leaving them covered in some of the slimy stuff they were coated in.

“Thank you so much! I really really hope the leprechauns don’t catch you-if they come this way I’ll make sure to eat some of them so they won’t!” He waved at them joyfully as he dived back into the ocean and disappeared.

After a moment Stan wiped his face on his coat sleeve.

“...Well, that happened.”

He turned away and began gathering up his weapons.

“Such a strange mixture of childlike innocence and barbarity,” Ford mused as he pulled out a jar and gathered the slime into it for yet another sample. “His culture must be fascinating-I almost wish he would have taken us with him so I could have seen it.”

“You would’ve drowned before you could gather any data.”

“...You don’t know that.”

“He literally didn’t know that humans can’t breathe underwater, Sixer. Not gonna happen.”

He ignored Ford’s sulking and kept cleaning, while musing to himself over the possible monetary opportunities being a couple of cryptids could bring...
