So I was thinking about those spiders that keep frogs as pets to keep bugs out and it translated into Sonic OCS in my brain cuz that's been the brainworm for a while. So here's a sketch I banged out in about an hour of a single mother spider and her froglet child 😆

Not quite an update to Spade's design but I've been wanting to do some new poses with each of the girls and this one gives a lot more personality than I think the first one did.

That skateboard has been the bane of my existence for the last few days. It looks a little wonky but it's about as good as I'm going to get it right now. I'm really having fun figuring out how to make my own brushes. I made the one for the decals in the background of the king Spade and crown design.

I was also able to add some more details that I wanted to such as the glasses magnifying her eyes, I'm not sure if I magnified it enough though, but there's only so long. I can work on something before I need to just stop and put it out there. One might think it would be better to stop and revisit a project later. But no, I want to just toss the stuff into the world because I have way too many ideas in my head to do things like that. I would end up with hundreds of unfinished works in my computer and I just know that's a rabbit hole I don't want to go down. That's the same reason. No shading's been done on the last two pieces. In this case, when I'm just trying to get the personality and the design down, I don't really feel like it needs the shading as much also.

So I came upon a realization for this character when designing the phone case of all things. I was trying to think of what to do and I came across the idea of doing a playing card since I already have them with the playing card suits as a theme. So then I had to decide which one and I thought since they're the leader for this trio doing a king would be great. But I also realized that it would make a very fun name. So I think Spade's full name now is King Spade the Mole. It's a similar idea to where Clover's full name is Lucky Clover the Hedgehog. But basically everyone will call her Clover. Now I've got to think of what the actual first name for Diamond's going to be 🤔

Happy New Year y'all!

Okay so I was going to go into a whole paragraph on like things going on and things to look forward to in 2025. But you know what screw it Tumblr decided to just delete it so I'm going to do a short version.

The too long and can't read at this point version is I went on vacation with my family for the first time in 2 years and they were here in Japan with me for almost 3 weeks during the holiday season, I only got back to my apartment properly about 2 days ago and I'm slowly getting back into my usual life routine so look forward to more art, asks, and probably finally going to get to doing some of that fan fiction this year.

Big ones I want to get into are the stuff for my sonic OCS since I've been cooking hard with a friend of mine on that. And of course the stuff for Baldur's Gate. Come springtime I'm hoping to get a computer I can play video games on again so I can get back to Valora's save and properly play through their story. I've also been cooking up another Tav so look forward to that soon.

And I want to Branch into some more different fandoms this year. So who knows what's going to be popping off next in here.

Super grateful to all the wonderful new mutuals! I ended up meeting last year and I'm looking forward to chatting more and meeting more new folks, the world is crazy but I'm looking forward to 2025.

What is your OC’s worst memory?

🩸hmmm, I've recently come to the realization that Valora would eventually start to fall for Gortash, but I don't think they'd be happy about it. I'm going to say that's probably their worst memory is realizing that they actually have feelings for this guy. They don't enjoy the fact that they're developing a connection with somebody outside of their cult beyond their body snatching habit. Previously all affection had been at the whim of the Bhaalblob since they could jump ship whenever they wanted. They aren't allowed this same kind of freedom with Gortash.

Your OC has exactly 15 minutes to live. What is their last act?

🌻 I'd love to say something poignant with her, but I'm going to be honest she would panic. There might be some frantic writing to get notes to loved ones before they run out of time, but they'd lose at least half the time to just sheer panic about what's happening however this 15 minutes is going to take them down.

🩸 they would squander their time for a very different reason from Sunflower, I don't think they'd fully believe they're actually going to die. Especially if it's before the game started and they haven't been tadpoled, they think of themselves as functionally immortal. So they'd probably just laugh and go off to do whatever they were still doing that day and then keel over the 15 minutes later.

What is your OC’s preferred method of death?

🌻 she would probably prefer old age or if that's not available to take her out fast without a lot of pain. Just before gaining her wings she was actually pretty sure she was going to die and was low-key accepting it since it was going to be at least quick and probably painless with how far she was falling

🩸hmmmm, 🤔 hard question, given what I said about their thinking that she's functionally immortal. I suppose they'd probably want to go out in the blaze of glory considering how they grew up, at least pre-tadpole. After the tadpole probably they'd be fine if they went out sacrificing themselves for something or someone important since they're going to be redeemed. They are a sorcerer so I wonder if there's some kind of big spell that they could go out with the same way like Gale can in some endings. I feel like that might be appropriate for them and they'd probably accept it very gracefully.

But seriously, thank you! One of my biggest things with making OCS is trying to make them fit as well as possible into the worlds that they are supposed to come from. It's both limiting and also a fun way of exploring the text a little further in some cases, especially if there's multiple places where lore comes from 😋

Last book: I've been slowly making my way through The Last Unicorn by Peter S Beagle for 2 years now, recovering from an English major in college is a heck of a thing when it comes to reading for pleasure

Last Movie: Sonic movie 3, I ended up watching it in Japanese at first. Had to go out of my way to find the English version in Tokyo last weekend, luckily I was still on vacation.
