Seen this too often and am getting sick n tired of it so here’s my take no one asked for

South Park is satire ment to degrade people in power, yes BUT The creators of SP often forget that to do good satire you need to punch up.

So often enough instead of hitting the right people their show actively hurts minorities and those already hurting. These men just think this is funny and I’m sure they don’t mean any harm but they think they should be allowed to make fun of anyone and everything when that just doesn’t work for everyone due to the current political climate.

Don’t get me wrong, certain topics SP discussed in their show clearly show that the creators want things to get better and they have a pretty good understanding of who the bad guys are.

That, however, doesn’t change the fact that, if you watch the show with just the surface level of understanding and don’t go on to analyze the meaning of it, this show is very much adored by biggots and nazis for it’s crude humor. These people completely ignore all kind of nuance to enjoy the series.

And if you’re young a lot of the nuance might also be lost on you, wich is why a lot of older people dislike it when teens and children watch this show.

I think all the art of southpark peeps being cutesy and people investing time into making good stories about them is neat but I’ve seen so many young people missunderstand shit about this series and get desensitized to how you should act around others that it sickens me.

end note Yeah SP can be funny but it’s innate sense of not getting who to hit with it’s kind of satirical humor makes it a show that is just as enjoyable for biggots and ignorant people plus it can screw with younger peoples head and understanding of humor wich is why we should actively try to help teach younger gens how to read into shit and think about stuff they see

Also shock humor might not be good for young minds so that’s another thing to take into context

You can enjoy SP if you wanna, I do not care, but saying it’s fine to show this stuff to young impressionable minds will end badly for everyone so please stop justifying it with “Oh but the subtext clearly shows that the show thinks this thing is bad” because I guarantee you a lot of peeps will not get that.

I feel like lately I've been overly sharing on my personal life and thoughts. While I am a generally small account, it is still kind of irresponsible for me to just trauma dump and share my ocd bs. It doesn't help that I've been getting more and more angry and started to break my own limits in terms of how I interact with people online (specifically biggots)

I ended up regretting and deleting that post with my intruisive thoughts cause while it got barely any attention aside from a few moots who supported me, I realized just dumping a very sensitive information, even if I made it clear that intruisive thoughts are not my genuine thoughts and can happen at random moments of the day, it is just not a safe thing for me to just dump it all, like at all.

The primary reason why I dumped it in the first place was because as I stated in that post, I wanted to push myself for confessing it to my therapist. Again, the way people online have treated the subject from which my ocd tend to center around a lot of times has been completely bastardise by people for the sake of attention I have been conditioned to the point that sharing these thoughts to the people I actually trust is going to get me send to the pits.

The increase of people who choose to be stupid and stand by their own stupidity doesn't help, especially with recent events such as Imane Khelif being accused of being a man just because a billionaire shared an article that used a Russian test survey (even tho Russian people are literally banned from the olympics) and somehow people still choosing to believe that even after having her birth certificate thrown in their face yet still die on the hill of their biggotry. This has left me so frustrated that I can't respond to anything beyound anger, and put of frustration I just ended up dumping it all as a "fuck you" to all these people and how I don't owe their lack of wanting to be educated on anything ever the right to call me something I'm not.

And yet while I did gain some courage, it doesn't keep me safe from the bs these people can pull out. I have to stop thinking being pissed and feeling the need to fight any potential ennemy I see and start genuinely thinking for my actual sake. At the end of the day, for as much as I blame people's action on the internet, this attitude of both anger and fear is more likely just a bi-product of my ocd.

So yeah all that to say that I'm sorry for getting way to emotional nowdays. I might take a small break from social media after this.

Wow you uh… you ok there ? Not sure what you were trying to do here but I’ll give you points for creativity, and hey at least you portrayed the conversation accurately, I asked questions and you kept telling me you gave me proof when all you did was continue to make vague claims.. 

I did say I was done but now I’m perplexed, you genuinely don’t seem to understand why I have no reason to believe what you say because you haven’t provided anything concrete, like you just don’t understand the concept of evidence. I’ll try to explainone last time myself as best as I can and why your arguments don't stand as is.

You said that in the leaks an unnamed consultant company was mentioned, however by your own accord the leaks are nowhere to be found now, so you can’t even see them yourself. You didn’t quote anything from the leaks or told me where to find archives or screenshots and you didn’t offer any precision on what exactly was said about the consultant company. You just implied that it was named as a reason why Spiderman 2 had to make rewrites in the leaks. That is not proof, your source here is literally just “trust me bro” tell me why I should take what you said at face value here ?

You said you “noticed patterns” and that you had a list of games that were negatively affected by SBI implying that SBI was the cause for games having to scrap content and make rewrites, yet you only listed spiderman 2 (you can’t make a list with only one thing ?!) and even then as I said above, there is no real evidence that spiderman 2’s cut content was because of SBI, and even how exactly it affected the game. So far you had only provided speculations. If you were to make a constructed argument here, you’d give me some of the names of games in that list and links to articles saying they had to make rewrites or to cut content. GIVE ME THAT DAMN LIST DINGUS >:(

Also most games have to cut content or make rewrites for a plethora of reasons, Elden Ring had to cut huge chunks of content for example because it was too ambitious, Overwatch 2 cut the whole PVE campaign and only released what are really just half-assed archive missions. Half-life 2 had to scrap 2 years of work because it wasn’t up to par with the rest of the game and SBI didn’t have anything to do with any of these games. The quality of the games I cited above vary a lot despite making cuts. Cut contents and rewrites aren't an indicator of quality just of setbacks in the developpment.

When I asked what you meant by corrupt, you said that the people working at SBI’s main goal was social justice, how is that being corrupt ? You then said that “they also make it clear in that same space the ultimate goal is to control how people think”, again, how do they make it clear, do you have any quote or link ?

Your main "proof" of SBI being bad and biggoted was you vaguely gesturing at twitter and telling me to go look at SBI’s employees posts, if you truly had something you could’ve given me ANYTHING, a twitter handle, a screenshot, an article. I am not going to scour twitter looking for proof for your argument. And from what I did see there was only one employee who asked people to report a steam group because they were getting harassed in mass because of said group.

You seem convinced that Miles being the "ambassador of his culture" as you put it is the fault of SBI, and not the original decision of the studio. Changing characters, and any big creative decisions are not what SBI do when they work with studios, they don't go around telling devs to completely change their characters. That wouldn't be feasible anyway because the edevs would have to redo pretty much everything if the main character was fundamentally changed. Go look at the links at the bottom of this post to find articles talking about what SBI really do.

Tl;dr : At any point in the conversation instead of getting increasingly angrier you could have just shut me up with solid proof If you had any. You weren’t even able to point to one of those videos peddling misinformation and ragebaiting. You gave no screenshot, no article, no link, no name or twitter handle, not even a quote. Nothing concrete, simply nothing at all. When you make wild claims like you did, the burden falls on YOU to substantiate it with evidence and proof. Claims alone aren’t arguments and they aren’t proof. People don’t live in your head; you need to actually build up an argument to convince others. I can't just take you at your words when you make insane claims.

But I know why you provided nothing. You didn’t notice patterns. You didn’t make lists. You didn’t do any research. All these ideas in your head aren’t yours, you watched a video, or read an inflammatory post that told you what to think, and what to be mad about. And you didn’t need convincing, you were already mad and wanted a target so you just went along with it because it was so easy to swallow. Do you even know why your claims are so vague ? It’s because the guy you got them from who made the steam group “SBI detected”, also had opinions based solely on vague feelings. He never even fucking played the games he claims are “different” and that "show a pattern" ! And here, some real fucking juicy PROOF (start at 2:19, he states he didn't play the game at 2:28).

Is there tokenization in media and video games ? Yes of course, and it sucks ! Is Sweet Baby Inc. the big bad that is surgically taking out all the fun from your favorite games ? Absolutely the fuck not ! There is no easy answer, no single target to remove that will magically solve everything. So launching a whole harassment campaign against them won’t make your games better, you’re just punishing people for nothing. Executives that want minorities’ money and who don’t care about art or storytelling are the ones making horrible decisions that make games worse as a result.

If after all of this you still don't want to buy games that SBI worked on at some point, great that's your choice, as long as you're not spreading lies and participating in harassment.

Full Monkie Demon MK Reference

Spoiler Warning for future chapters of the fan fic.

I have finished creating the refrence for how MK will look after his transformation into a demon is complete. This is not what MK looks like by the end of Chapter 3, but it's how he will look eventually in the fan fiction.

Also I will tell you a bit about MK in my AU.

MK (Monkie Kid) is a nickname, and MK's chosen name is Qi Xiaotian.

MK is trans masc as well as gay, he uses the pronouns He/Him, They/Them

MK also has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder as well as anxiety and PTSD.

Been friends with Mei since they were 10. Thr two started transitioning around the same time and gave each other their current names.

I love the idea that Mei basically named MK 'little sky', which is what Qi Xiaotian means, while MK basically named Mei 'a pretty plum blossom'.

MK loves all stone fruit but likes Nectarines, Apricots, and Peaches the most

Backstory

When MK was 15 his parents kicked him out after MK came out as Trans and Gay. Not long after Pisgy and Tang find MK and take him in. Tang looks after MK while Pigsy runs the Noodle shop, and Tang is the one who told MK about the legendary Monkey King Sun Wukong. At this point in time Tang and Pigsy were not yet married, and were in the process of courting. The couple supported MK and helped the kid transition and legally change their name to Qi Xiaotian. Also Pigsy got MK into therapy.

At some point MK's ex-parents show up at Pigsy’s Noodles and see MK with his adopted parents and freak out because 'Oh no our kid is being raised by a pig demon' and go full karen on Pigsy, Tang, and MK. The biggoted duo try to demand for custody of MK, and Pisgy and Tang rightfully refuse to hand MK over to the kid's abusers. After the issue gets taken to court, a restraining order is put in place that keeps the bio parents from getting anywhere near MK.

I'm trying my best not to give away too much here since there are bits that are important to the plot that I don't want to reveal just yet. So I'll leave things off here for now.

Trans Matt Murdock

Ok I know I’m not the first one to do this but yesterday I was board so I fucked around and transed Matts gender.

Some bonus trans head canons:

-Matt knew from a young age that he wasn’t a girl. Jack thought he was just a tom boy for the longest time. Matt came out right before the accident. Jack started to call him Matty as a sort of transition from Madeleine (his dead name) to Matthew. Matt liked the name. Jack let him cut his hair and wear more masculine clothing. 

-*TW for transphobic language in this section* When Stick started training him he was a huge biggot. He would call Matt by his name and use the right pronouns but made sure he felt shit about himself for it. He would call him Matty but in a not nice way, more like the nickname Maddy derived from his dead name. He would also say things like “god your the weakest boy I’ve ever met” “your a fucking pussy” “a real boy your get up and take it” “a real boy wouldn’t complain” and other horrible things. 

-*TW transphobia in this section* the nuns kind of ignored his gender. They mostly deadnamed him and used she/her pronouns. Father Lantom was a bit better about it.

-At 18 one of the first things he did was take the money Jack left him and start Testosterone and get top surgery. By the time he hits law school he’s been stealth for a few years. Even though he has transitioned he still has a lot of internalized transphobia from Stick and the orphanage and very much hates himself for not being born cis. 

-He and Foggy meet at the beginning of L1 and Foggy is pretty nervous because they have been out and proud as nonbinary for a long time and they realize that Matt is Catholic. When they tell him he handles it really well and uses all the right pronouns but doesn’t come out to them quite yet. 

-Its not until half way through L1 that Matt finally tells them. Foggy is ecstatic and helps show Matt that being trans is something to celebrate instead of be ashamed of. Matt still has internalized stuff but he doesn’t hate himself as much as before. 

-Matt has to go to Planned Parenthood every two weeks to get his T injection because he can’t fill up the syringe on his own. When Foggy finds this out they’re like “Hey I could totally do that for you!” and Matt is just :o {surprised face}. Foggy reiterates that its totally fine if he feels more comfortable going into the clinic for it, its totally his choice which they will completely respect. Matt actually hates having to go in every two weeks and takes them up on the offer. They go together at the next appointment and the nurse shows Foggy how to do it and they practice a few times with a small amount of saline. Foggy does Matt’s injections from then on. 

-After they start Nelson and Murdock, Karen (a trans woman) find out that Matt has never once been to pride despite Foggy (who has been every year since they were a teenager) trying to get him to go. She makes it her mission to get him to go and finally he relents. He’s nervous because the noise will mess with his senses and the crowd will make it hard for him to navigate with his cane. He would die before he says this but Foggy and Karen are perceptive and promise to guide him the entire time. When they go Karen goes shirtless (she's on estrogen but has not had surgery) because you don’t need boobs to be a woman! She does crazy eye makeup one eye has trans colors and the other has bisexual colors (credit for the idea of Karens makeup goes to @marvelvibess​) Foggy paints their nails black and Karen does their makeup which is similar to hers but instead of the trans colors its nonbinary colors. They also wear a pronoun pin. Matt goes a bit more low key with dark blood red nail polish and eyeliner and a two small pins one trans and one bisexual. Foggy also gets him rainbow sunglasses which he wears. They all have a blast. 

-After The People v. Frank Castle and the office breakup Foggy stops doing Matt’s T shots. They are really mad at him. So, Matt calls Claire. She's just happy that he’s called her for something thats not a life threatening injury. After Defenders when Matt wakes up at St. Agnes and he’s well enough he goes back to his apartment to steal his supplies. Sister Maggie begrudgingly does it for him (she's not sure how to feel about her child being trans but its obvious that this is who he is so its kind of a if you can’t beat him join him type thing). After Season 3 and the trio get back together Foggy starts doing it again. 

And thats all I have for trans Matt Murdock! 

TLDR: Matts known he’s trans since he was little. Stick was a dick about it. He starts transitioning at 18 and Foggy (who is NB) starts doing his shots for him. Karen (a trans woman) and Foggy drag him to pride. Claire does his injections after the office breakup then Maggie does it after that until they all make up again.

i am back for a brief moment!!! so, i live in the USA, if you are curious about the current political situation, here’s what’s going on:

several politician figures who are running for elections for positions have been using social media to say that the blm organization should be caterogized as a terrorist orginization, using the fact that the website says they are looking to disrupt the nuclear family idea and raising their kids in “villages” of friends and family. this way of raising kids, by the way, is very good for them because it gives them a strong community of role models that will help raise the kids and give them a more varied experience with people early on.

antifa, or antifascist, has now been classified as a terrorist orginization.

president trump is continuing to send armed police to peaceful protests, it has been appearing less in the media now. the peaceful protests for justice that aren’t disrupted by the police are not reported on making many americans who haven’t actively been following in support of the the cause believe that there are no longer any protests and that the only protests that happened were turned into riots by bad civilians supporting blm. in truth, most of the violence and rioting is started by either undercover cops or people who came to make the movement look bad.

the current black lives matter protests spurred by the death of george floyyd and pushed on by the police brutality that has killed many innocent black people is now the biggest civil rights movement of all time. there are protesters in most places now, and even the news channels, which are largely supportive of the police and avoid supporting anyone that is a victim of the police recognized the death of george floyyd as completely unwarranted and an outrage. some news channels who had not suported other innocent black people who died from police because of an excuse the cops made have taken a complete 180. others have used the chance to take videos of the riots and censor them to not show what the police have done. at one point, the news broadcasted a video that was cut off of the protests. it cut off right before the police car drives through a group of civilians.

police so far, both in past riots and current peaceful protests have:

blocked ambulances from areas in the riots where people have set up first aid kits.

driven past peaceful protests with a gun out their window

killed a black shop owner who had supplied them with free food previously and left his body in the streets for over 12 hours

gotten extremely physical with peaceful protesters, grabbing people who have done nothing wrong aggressively and forcing them down, or in painful positions.

used excessive force even with a crowd and many people recording, using violent action of protesters not resisting arrest and only not causing possibly long lasting injuries because another cop or another person the cop seems to deem an ally lifts them off at least 2 times

have taken photos with protesters faking peace for the media and tear gassing them immediately

shootig rubber bullets into crowds, which are lumps of rubber a little less than the size of your palm with metal shrapnel designed to ricochet outward. these prices of metal shrapnel have enough power to go through a persons leg, and are lethal as they are. in close range, however, they become even more dangerous and cause more damage and also panic.

used teargass to clear out an area where trump was scheduled to have a photo shoot. after teargassjng all the protesters out he took photos and said some things about how proud and brave he was.

they have gone to the supply tents of some peaceful protests and have broken all the water bottles and ruined the food so they had no supplies

currently, the US is becoming a facist nation. our president has stated that he is against antifa, has quoted hitler in a speech, has set up borders that send immigrants back into dangerous conditions or just take their kids into dangerous conditions. ICE has begun spraying harsh chemicals on and around the detention camp that is irritating the eyes, lungs and skin of the immigrants inside sometimes 3 times a day or more.

closer to the start of donald trumps term, he had disbanded the pandemic response team, and now refuses input from actually doctors and scientists. when they suggested they pause meat plants, donald trump refused and stated that they should keep working. after people started suing meat companies because of covid cases, they brought up an article with a subsection that they stated allowed them to keep working. millions have been wasted on this. upon closer inspection of the article, which was implemented by donald donald trump who stated that meat plants would keep running, does not say that meat plants are legally allowed to stay open.

our current political climate is incredibly right leaning, and bernie sanders is the only current candidate who has somewhat centrist ideas. most people in power are right wing, which means that many ideas donald trump proposes will be approved and anything that the other branches proposed will be approved by trump.

trump has a past of sexually harrasing women. it was leaked by a well known hacker that donald trump had been prosecuted for raping a 13 year old girl. he and jeffery epstein, a pedophile who ran a child sex trafficking ring for high profile people on a private island, had been fighting over who would take the virginity of the young girl. it was said that jeffery epstein killed himself before he could go to jail, but the leading theory and the most likely as well is that one of his high profile clients had him killed so he wouldn’t tell anyone their name.

trump has consistently harmed and mocked many race minorities in the US, and while parading that he has many avid minority supporters. the reality of it is that if you attend a single trump rally you will find only white people.

the government is currently trying to make it harder for local post offices (the USPS) to function. they’re trying their best to pass things and many people haven’t noticed. taking out the USPS would take out local newspapers, which are a very reliable source. they share the voice of the people and do not have a reason to not give unbiased information. this means we will be fed mostly propaganda if this happens.

to bring up old news, i would like to take a moment to remember the time donald trump put the government in lockdown (?? he just basically pressed pause) for i think 60-70 days till the officials were begging him to stop. i don’t remember what happened to spur that on but i certainly still think that the response was inappropriate.

i’ve lived in the US my entire life and was always fed on the idea that places in the middle east were always poor and less than the US, that they were pitiful and needed the protection of our armies. i know that’s not true now, but action movies and media keep on circulating the idea that the USA is better than everywhere else and that everywhere foreign (other than canada, no one talks about canada really, and russia, the uk and australia are pretty safe) is strange and gross and any food that comes from them is censored and dulled to fit into one aisle. it’s not right, and young children are still constantly being fed these harmful ideas that they have to unlearn later in life.

Rick Riordan and representation in media

I just realized this shit show was happening and im honestly surprised it didnt happen before. Now i'll clarify some things, im not american, im Colombian so i never read Ricks books looking for representation cause i think majority if not every born and raised latino/hispanic can agree that being raised in the US is different than being raised in South/Central america or Mexico. Second, i read majority of Ricks books while i was still between the ages of 12/14, i've revisited them now but i honestly dont remember them with that much detail.

On to the issue at hand: Samirah. Ill admit i havent read Magnus Chase however ive read Ricks apology and people's complains about Samirah and as a religious person myself this is what i have to say:

Im a christian girl, and i mean hardcore christian, dont drink christian, no sex before marriage christian, no secular music christian, thats how i grew up and around the time i read Ricks books i was still firm in many of my christian beliefs (i used to be a homophobe, surprise! Im now bisexual) so i understand why many muslims feel like Samirah is bad representation, after all neither Christianity nor Islam leave room for worship to any other gods, it is a sin actually so i understand the inmense contradiction that it is to have a devoted muslim also be somewhat a devoted pagan, it may not sit right with you, and it is a completely understandable thing to be mad about.

Rick doesnt really adress this in his apology, he just says he has gotten many questions about it and honestly, it is a place he cannot writte himself out of, it is just misrepresentation.

As for the issue of arranged marriages i actually like his explanation, i live in a part of Colombia that has a big arabic population and as a result we are a bit more exposed to Islam than other parts of the country, one of the girls i went to school with was muslim, her mother wore a hijab (she didnt) and her older sister was married in an arranged marriage. Naturally we were very concerned at first for her and the posibility of Amina being married off to an old, dissgusting dude, but it turns out althought it wasnt a husband her sister had chosen, they had been promised since they were children and they grew to love each other, this is my personal outsider experience with the islamic religion and the arabic culture, one that happens to alling with what Rick tried to depict.

However, this is not the experience of everyone who goes throught a similar situation. Child marriages are huge problem and arranged marriages can lead to abuse, if you feel this is a harmful thing to represent because you have been afected by it (or just because the notion in general is baffling to you) the you are in all your right to be angry at Rick but the thing is....what he wrote might be missrepresentation of your lifestyle and your experiences, but it is validating for the experiences of others.

And that is my next point. Just because im a bisexual cis latin woman doesnt mean my experience and those of the millions of other bisexual cis latin women are the same, they may be conpletely different or oddly similar, but when you write a character with specifical characteristics, the expiriences of that character will never englobe the experiences of all the people who share those characteristics.

This is not to say harmful stereotypes or bad representation dont exist, in my personal opinion having a muslim girl who also believes in norse gods is terrible representation of the religion, but Samirah being engaged is just representation of a particular experience (considering he said she would not marry until it was age apropiate, child marriage would be totally unexcusable).

My last point is about Ricks character. I see a lot of people saying he is racist and i just cant agree. Intentionaly misrepresenting a culture, religion or etnicithy because of your personal biggoted believes is being racist and i wholeheartedly dont think that Ricks mistakes are a result of that.

Like i said, i never read Rick because i wanted representation, but in reading his books i learned a lot about things i would otherwised not had learned about. Now, Percy Jackson is a children story so if you are pulling put the enterity of your understandment of a culture/religion/etnicity from it the problem is yours, however the books are a start and i believe a positive start.

His books are not without critiscim, cause he is a white man writing about things he hasnt experience first hand, but i dont think there is any ill intend behind the missrepresentation in his books, they are just honest mistakes that in some cases he has fixed, and in others he has apologized for.

Someone being "problematic" doesnt mean that they are the devil, nobody is perfect or will live to an impossible standard of inmaculate wokeness, what is important is differenciating between facist, racist, homophobic little pices of shit and people who are learning and make genuine mistakes.

I am reading right now that psychologists are saying that it would be an incredible relief to us all if we forget the recent and "normal" lives we once knew and just accepted our current situation as the new normal because there is not yet an end in sight and I read this on CNN.

The article goes on to say that we will not be happy or content unless we let go of the belief that this will all be over soon or else we will drive ourselves crazy. It says that we must let go of the way of life we knew and accept our current predicament as our new way of life because there is no end in sight, so don'tgo searching for that end because that is also going to drive us crazy...

No, this pandemic isn't going to end tomorrow, or next week, or next month, maybe not even next year. Yes, we have to accept our current situation such as it is whether we like it or not because whether we believe it or not, it all is ultimately out of our control... but the pandemic will also not go on forever, and not all of our new conditions of living are entirely justified. Every day, new information comes out that contradicts the policies that where placed the day before: in New Jersey, USA, the Governor disallowed any and all indoor activity but forced schools to open with a government approved plan for sterility in the classrooms. The teachers, understandably, revolted saying that it was too dangerous and they did not wish to risk theirs and their students' lives so needlessly when they had already found ways to teach from home. They also made the argument that everything else was still needed to be done outdoors, so why open the schools? You know what the Governor did? Immediately announced that indoor activities where safe again to a certain degree and restaurants and theaters and the like opened back up. So too, did the schools, for they now had no argument.

This pandemic has been used as a platform for politics to exercise their control over the population. This is not an extreme left wing agenda, it is not an extreme right one either. Neither side is working in tandum to exercise this control, in fact, I'm not sure which is worse anymore. The pendulum of a a clock need not be wound so tight that the hammer slams into the walls of its casing and breaks the clock. Yet here we are, swinging so far one way and the other that the whole thing is crashing down and we just keep winding it up. Proof lies in this article alone, telling you the reader to give up hope for a better future, one where we are free of this plague-- political or viral-- and accept the lives we now must face.

Well, I for one will never give up hope of a better life. Things are terrible right now, but those of us that survive can do something to make it better. Don't riot, don't needlessly posture out of pride, don't give anybody a reason to call you a radical. I'm a straight, white man. I have lived on this Earth for 26 years. All I want to do is teach music, love my wife, have a modest home on the edge of a forest that I can walk in with what I hope to be a daughter who sings and a son who fights Isshin-ryū like his mother, and ultimately teach the next generation to stick up for themselves and be their own men and women someday-- whether they were born men and women or not. Mild spoilers ahead but this literally only spoils the first 15 minutes and nothing serious about the movie. So, I guess, don’t read on if you don’t want spoilers and are okay with potentially being very triggered at this movie.

Alright, imma about to get on my soap box so get ready, folks.

My girlfriend introduced me to the origional 80’s It movie as well as the new remake from a few years ago (no, we did not watch the 90’s minu-series). As eveyone knows, It is a horror novel by Steven King that has veen adapted into movies. Most people know to expect jump scares and flashing lights and other stims that can trigger people with epilepsy or people on the Autism Spectrum, as well as others. You also think to expect gore and violence in a movie like this. And those are all definitely there, which is no surprise.

However, what my girlfriend and I were completely unprepared for was the terrifying hate crime in the very beginning of the movie. Full disclosure, this scene was written into the novel but was nowhere to be found in the original film and unless you read the book (which is extremely long) you wouldn’t know about this scene without doing research into the movie. I’m one of those people who doesn’t like to have any spoilers going into a movie, because it kind of ruins it for me. However, any kind of warning on social media about this scene would have been nice.

To give a breif summary of what happens, 2 men are out at a carnival in the main town the movies take place in. They are being openly affectionate and a group of 3 men - 2 of which are obviosuly teens, one that’s seemingly older - starts harrassing them and throwing out pracitcally every gay slur in the book telling them they shouldn’t be there. One of the men - Adrian - stands up to them verbally and the two leave. As they are walking home by a bridge, the 3 approach them again and proceed to beat them both to bloody pulps - savagley. There’s no good way to describe in words how horrifyingly graphic this scene is. The homophobes then throw Adrian off the bridge into the river down below. His boyfriend tries to save him but ultimately Adrian is mauled by Pennywise and the boyfriend seemingly escapes, as the next scene the cops are called and he is sitting in an ambulance with a towel wrapped around him. We then never see or hear anything about any of the people involved in this scene again.

We were so horrified by this scene that we were curled up crying in each other’s arms and I was extremely tempted to leave the theatre right as the title screen showed up. Let me explain for context that my girlfriend and I are both fans of horror movies and morbid things. None of the previous It movies were scary in the slightest to me and neither of us are spooked by things like that at all. But after this scene, I was trembling and practically sitting in her lap I was so scared and upset. It was by far the most terrifying scene in the movie, and it caught us completely off guard. Now, had I done some research into the movie beforehand I probably would have found the articles from a few months ago talking about why the director included this scene. However, like I said before, I’m the type that doesn’t like to get spoilers before seing a movie. Like to the point I won’t willingly watch a trailer for a movie unless I have no idea what it’s about, and even then I usually just read a short synopsis. Going into any random movie, even a horror movie, I don’t expect to witness something like that.

If you read the article here about the director’s decision in keeping this scene in the film, he says it’s because when reading the novel it stuck with him and that he wanted to show that even in 2019 - when this movie is set - horrible hate crimes like this still happen. However, my question to that is.... was that really needed? Bigots watching the movie are going to see this as a win, because there are absolutely no consiquences for the people who commit this crime and Adrian winds up brutally murdered. If he hadn’t been, the river definitely would have swept him away and killed him. Even the bullies who torment the main 7 kids in the movie wind up murdered or manipulated and left in a mental assylum for 27 years. But these bigots? Nothing. Pennywise doesn’t go after them, we don’t see any legal repercussions, not anything at all.

It leaves anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community wretching because we are already aware that these things happen to us every day.

I sincerely doubt the biggots watching this movie felt any sympathy for them because they are never thought about again after Pennywise mutalates Adrian. The scene doesn’t feel sympathetic or like it’s trying to show that this still happens. It felt like the director played up the scene as much as possible to get a huge shock-value scare at the begining of the movie that plays off the very real fears of anyone who isn’t straight and cisgendered.

This feels especially true when you consider the fact that the remakes heavily downplay the racism that is strong throughout the novel. The whole reason Mike is singled out by the bullies is that he’s a POC. Not because he’s an “outcast.” Yet, this is nowhere to be seen. They completely take out the racism dircted towards Mike throughout the movies but they take every oppurtunity to punch you in the stomach with the homophobia.

So, moral of the story here is, if you don’t want to be triggered by a horrid hate crime.... don’t go see this movie. It was so distacting that I had a hard time paying attention to anything that happened after that and I went home and had a complete meltdown and didn’t stop sobbing for a whole hour.

So you know how much I love you, and I’m so happy to have gotten to know you and be your friend - you are so amazing, and you’re gonna get a man who loves u to fucking death mark my got damn words. You kept me going and kept me playing in this game. Thanks for that, sweet pea <3

Nick-Working with you was both really messy, but really fucking fun. Now looking back, I really do think the only reason I wanted you gone is because youre gameplay reminded me a bit too much of myself. You appeared to talk to everyone and have many connections in the game. The one week where you legit gave Sam and I five different names of people that you wanted to have nominated for eviction not only allowed me to build trust with every person's name you threw out, but also let me see how much of a wild card you were going to be in the game... something I did not need. Overall, I had an amazing time playing with you and I hope we will eventually play again some time down the road.

Elijah-MOM... that vote was so close for you to stay :( I wish you could've stayed longer bc I really enjoyed our talks (whenever we did talk lol we were both rly inactive) but honestly you're the sweetest and kindest person I've ever met in an org willing to put your BB life at stake for mine not 1 person I know would do that for me in this game other than you and I want to thank you for always being nice to me and helping me thru the game while you were here <3 love ya

Nick-When I saw that you were cast for this game I was ECSTATIC. Not only are you one of my favorite people in the community, but you are also incredibly cute, funny, loyal, and smart. I was so happy that I finally got a chance to play with you in a game and I really do wish you made it further. You are fucking RAD. Also, can you do youre hair pinkish-purple next time?

Elijah-I'm super sad we didn't get to work together in this game bc I know we're played other orgs together before and we did manage to work in those before and I was a bit iffy on whether or not to message you and offer you an alliance bc I wasn't sure if you trusted me or not in this game due to me backstabbing you in a different one but overall I'm super happy we got to be in another game together !

Logan-A sweetheart, a child, the face of young innocence. I adore you even though I never really got to know you.

Nick-You were one of the people I trusted the most in this game. I had an amazing time working with both you and Emily this season and I promised you when you got evicted I would watch out for her. You leaving in turn started the best alliance of the season..  the "Queef Queens" which included Samantha, Emily, Elijah, and I. I really wish we could have had this alliance start before you left, but you leaving deffinently drew some lines within the house and let me better secure Emily and Elijah's anti-Christian/Victor mentality... something that helped me and Samantha get further in the game without getting nominated every week.

Elijah-tbh I didn't see myself working with you this game bc I hosted you in Johto and knew you weren't a person I could align myself with and depend on when I needed something ... you were expecting me to save you US week of this game but little did anyone know I had an alliance with Nick, Emily, Sam and myself and we diverted a major plan for your own alliance members to backstab you and somehow we managed to pull thru with it , I do love ya as a person but game wise I couldn't keep you!

Logan-Jay, honestly, you are one of my #faves. The week you went was so messy but it was sooooo much fun. You were sorta robbed but you gotta give Christine credit for the #moves she pulled.

Nick-Sadly, you just ended up being one of those people I straight up never spoke to. I found out partly throught intuition and party through Christine that you were somebody who was close to Christian and Victor... an asset if duos were to end. I worked with Christine and through her and Logan to make sure Jaiden put you up that week instead of people in my alliance (Emily and Elijah). I am truly sorry that we never spoke, something which is partly my fault. I hope that we may have another oppurtunity to play with one another because Ive heard good things about you.

Logan-I like you as a person, and you were so strong in this game. #hateu in festive though. You scare the fuck out of me if I’m being quite honest.

Nick-ROBBED. I was soooooo beyond glad that I had a chance to work with you in this season and it was really sad to see you leave the way you did. However, without you leaving nobody in this game really had a shot at winning (or getting second because that's the new first place this season). I hope we can work together in another game. Also, I am super excited to watch you come back for Ultimate.

Again I'm super sorry for "backstabbing" you and Victor even tho we were never an official alliance . I am really just a loyal hoe and I couldn't backstab nick, Emily and Sam bc they had my back more than anyone else did. You tried getting me out but better luck next time ! Love ya

Logan-My duo. All I have for you is love. Game wise, I’m glad you finally kicked that bucket, cuz I got farther, and I’m sitting at finales. I hope outside the community is treated you well, say hi to Kat for me.

Nick-I really do have no hard feelings torwards you. You played the best game you could and we just ended up on opposite sides of the game. You really should not say thigs that could possibly be misunderstood, such as calling a certain somebody a "sexual harassing hill billy", but I like to think youve learned your lesson. At least you arent an asshole to Logan.

I can’t wait to talk to you tonight and hear all about your camp experience. I can’t believe you put points on me twice and admitted it so soon. Icon.

Nick-I fucking love you so much. We were such a power duo in this game and ended up being not only the last duo nominated, but also the lest dup standing. We worked and fought through every twist and turn Steffen laid out for us and prevailed. You should still be here in the finale and im really sorry that you had to leave like that. But I cant wait for you to comeback for Ultimate and win :), hopefully Christian will have finally retired by then. Love you tons.
