WIBTA if i wrote a psa about people who broke my tos

i make character adopts on toyhou.se and deviantart. i like designing characters but i rarely ever use them so i put them up for adoption so they can go to good homes. i have a tos for adopting my characters, which everyone is required to read before i go through with the adopt. the tos has rules about giving the character to someone else, which is that the current owner of the oc has to ask me first. there s a few reasons for this:

1 i dont want anyone reselling my character for more money than they bought them for unless they add value to the character by commissioning art or writing because its unfair to me who created the character if someone upsells them without adding value. having people ask first let's me make sure theyre not upcharging my work unfairly

2 i dont want certain people owning my characters. i have trauma surrounding certain people adopting my characters and using them problematically. for example someone ill call A once made my black characters skin lighter even though my tos says you cant change my characters race or body types. someone else, B, put my character into a proship relationship which is TOTALLY BANNED in my tos. i have a public list of people who are NOT allowed to own my characters and the idea of them owning them makes me super uncomfortable because i know theyll use my characters for bad things

3 it lets me make sure that the new owner has read my tos

a couple months ago someone (ill call them C) adopted a character of mine named lupin. a couple of days ago i was looking at my designs and i saw that lupin was now owned by D. i checked the ownership log which said that C traded lupin with D but i dont know what character C got in return. i sent C a message asking why they traded lupin without my permission and they said they didnt think they had to because it was a trade and not a sale. i told them that i have trauma around people giving my characters to others without permission and C said that i should talk to D instead because they (C) no longer owned the character.

i went to Ds profile and on their user page i saw a blocked comment so i unhid the comment and saw that it was B thanking D for following B. this set off alarm bells because i know that B is proship which is why i blocked them in the first place! so i decide to look into D, i find their tumblr and i find out that theyre also proship, they ship incest and they reblog irredeemable media like the coffin of andy and leyley

D wasnt on my blacklist specifically but its against my tos for proshippers to own my characters under any circumstances and its grounds for revocation. i message D to tell them that im revoking the character because theyre breaking my tos but D refused to transfer lupin back to me and blocked me.

i reuploaded lupins profile to my account and reported the original profile to th for being a violation of my tos, and i added C and D to my blacklist.

WIBTA if i wrote a psa about C and D to warn other people about them? i just dont want anyone else to go through this

Hey Aeryn, I was wondering what you recommend to get past FOMO and overthinking. I know I shouldn't feel this way but I can't shake it. I want to play all of the story but I start to feel anxious. I start overthinking and second-guessing and the cycle starts again. I have a WOL I'm enjoying writing but I can't get her to translate in-game. Any advice?

I admit, I don't often get FOMO, but when I do, I stop and ask myself: is this something I actually want to do? A place I actually want to go? An experience I need? An item I want? Or am I just reacting to others, especially friends, having fun and talking about a thing together, so it's pinging a social desire/need?

Cuz I can interact and talk with my friends in other ways and places. I don't have to do all the things they do, play the games they play, etc. I use in built filters and blacklists on my social media to not see things about games/shows/etc that I don't want hear about, and I stop following a lot of (usually sideblogs) accounts that deal with those topics. When I left WoW behind, I dropped a lot of those blogs, for instance.

(I think some people would be happier if they put down media they don't actually enjoy but only watch/play because the people in their lives do.)

What about playing the game is making you anxious? Is it doing the content? Most can be done solo now, but friends can help with the stuff that can't be, or there's always duty finder. Is it story and character direction? Afraid things will happen to your faves, or they'll grown and change in ways you don't care for? That's a risk in any ongoing media, and up to an individual where their "I'm done" point is where they don't enjoy that lore and canon anymore, and then make the decision to change it in fanfiction or drop the story altogether.

With everyone talking about new content right now, even trying to keep spoilers under wraps, it can be rough for sure. Everyone has opinions! And screenshots! And there's new fanfic!

Is the anxiety because of the WoL you started writing, and how she doesn't "translate" in game, and afraid the lore will continue to make that harder?

In that case, look at what the character is, what you've written...and what the character (your subconscious, really) is telling you they actually are, or need. If they don't fit the canon lore...It's OK. Change the story to fit as needed. Or....play through it and see what ends up working after all, with the benefit of knowledge.

You can't lock a character in stone; a story happens because characters want something (large or small), and in the course of the story they are changed in some way (large or small). WoL is an anime protagonist with plotstrong abilities and gifts that give players a lot of leeway in any direction. Some people don't play WoLs at all. Their OC is a person they roleplay and write about in the setting, the plot happens to someone else, and they just play the video game with that avatar.

So what isn't "translating"? Is it appearance related that can't be done without mods and artwork? Disabilities that likewise are tricky to show in game (which assumes a mostly able-bodied WoL)? A backstory that seems to not fit (the world's bigger than what we see)? A lot of detailed backstory and supporting cast that now make you feel boxed into a corner?

It can be hard, seeing people with deeply developed stories and characters and supporting cast, but you also have to remember: a lot of that is built over time. Aeryn didn't have nearly the detailed list of relatives to start, didn't have the "dad was a secret heretic" backstory until 4 years into playing her. I still haven't named all of Dark's siblings. I've seen some folks entirely rewrite their characters cuz something in an expansion spoke to them and it made more sense and made them happier than what they did before.

When I start overthinking a character story, I put the backstory away, and just play them for a bit. I keep a vague idea of what I think their personality might be, what reactions would seem right. And then I let "them" guide me as I play. And sometimes what a character tells me ends up far more interesting. Or I find the stuff I was anxious about adding to them...ends up being canon, or at least working out, anyway.

And if the concern is what other people will think about one's WoL....well, you can't control what others think. And trying to please everyone leaves you with a milquetoast bland sop who isn't interesting at all. Care about the character you want to write, even if that changes, and make them as interesting as you want.

I was saying in a convo yesterday that the shrieking about "Mary Sue and how to not be one" caused lasting societal trauma and people are still afraid of giving characters interesting traits and stories. A person was anxious about giving their WoL traits that might make them 'too much' or 'too special' but they're traits WoL canonically has. We're in an anime story as anime protagonists, be wild and weird. Not everyone will like it, and that's good, actually. Cuz others will love it, and it means you gave your writing and characters personality.

Final Fantasy XIV is a game that 90% of the time, the content isn't going anywhere. You go at your pace, you enjoy the story and side content. There's a lot, after 11 years. Do what you gotta to avoid spoilers, gushing, complaining, or otherwise talk about content you're not in yet to reduce the worry everyone else is having fun while you're spinning wheels a few expacs back. Figure out what you enjoy and love about the game, and focus on that for awhile. Let your WoL breathe, and just play without plotting out how they translate or fit, and remember stories aren't set in stone; they have to be malleable. Especially when trying to write/roleplay in someone else's world!

You should be in this for yourself. Because you find it fun, relaxing, enjoyable to experience. Because you want to tell a character's story even if it takes a hard left turn from canon lore. And if you have to mute and filter out and block some things and people on social media or chat or whatever, do what works for you. But when overthinking, turn that around and interrogate yourself: "OK, why do I feel this way? Why would this be bad? Do I want this or am I trying to follow the crowd?" Make lists, pros and cons. Figure out if it's actually FOMO and anxiety...or if you're trying to tell yourself something and you're just not listening.

Give yourself grace. This game is just one piece of our life's tapestry, and while there's probably friends who want to see you clear content, the world won't end if you don't catch up to the current patch right away, or write a 200k fic about your WoL's life by year's end, either. Go at your pace.

Re: Hypertagging characters/ships for triggers, yeah as someone whos insane ass has a very serious trigger for a specific fictional character -particularly if they are portrayed in a positive light- I just Do Not Read Fic in that fandom by and large and blacklist it pretty hard.

It sucks I had to divorce myself from the fandom because I LIKED the earlier seasons and sometimes the fic was cute and good, but I simply cannot reasonably ask anyone to tag every mention of that character so I blacklist it all.

Its a me issue, NOT a them issue, so its my job to manage it and actually put effort into that.

That means blacklisting the show on every platform that is possible that I use, not following people who are likely to post that character, not consuming the new canon content of the show in case I get jumpscared with the character, and only ever intentionally looking for content if im in the right frame of mind to be able to stand simply seeing the name somewhere while I control+f a fic to see if they show up. I even sometimes ask friends to prescreen fics sometimes if I REALLY want to read something.

I make my own content if I want to engage with that media and I avoid the fandom. Its... I wont say its easy because it really sucks actually, but the world cannot and should not cater to me in that way. Its a competing access need and unreasonable to ask.

Its reasonable to ask a friend to warn/not deliberately show me that character- not NOT reasonable to ask a rando to do that.

Id even try to desensitize the trigger if I was in a good place for doing it but I am the wrong kind of insane to be doing that any time soon lol. Trauma work lays you right out.

To people wondering how anyone could be so fragile as to need something like that tagged; PTSD and other mental illnesses that cause serious triggers often latch onto innocuous things. Do you think I want to have such a 'cringe' trigger that causes me to [redacted] at best and have a dissociative panic attack-flashback combo AND [redacted] at worse? No its dumb as hell and I hate that there is very little to do to suppress it. Does that make the trigger go away? Also no. Its not like this is just me not liking or being uncomfortable with the character, this is an involuntary serious-hazard-to-health negative reaction I shant detail that sucks ass.

Yes us crazies do deserve to participate in fandom spaces too, we arent too broken to be barred from playing with everyone else- we just have to understand where the reasonable line is on accommodations for tagging, understand that competing access needs are a thing, and do the rest of the work ourselves.

Its not perfect but its the most good for the most people.

Id invite anyone who has a character/ship/etc trigger to seriously just blacklist the media and do what I do or even be more strict about it. You will feel so much better and more stable im not kidding. It sucks to lose a beloved fandom but you will feel so much better.

For everyone else- dont feel you need to tag every last mention on something. If you really want to be trigger friendly for some reason, you can put in the chapter notes all the minor mentions of stuff or w/e. Please Do Not put it in the proper tags.

So this summer, mysterycharacterbracket was confirmed to be transphobic and pro life. They deleted all of the posts about it. But there are eye witnesses and screenshots of the things they said here, here, and here

Well I’m going to bring up that conversation again. I have a second poll account @dumbass-duo-showdown, which between may and September. Had two homophobic and transphobic accounts interact with me, the first one is called @/mysteriesofmilo I guess it was because I had Dofenshmirtz in the bracket (it was a dad bracket). And for pride month they reblogged a post I made with a Bible quote going “pride goes before the fall”. They actively knew I had character from media with lgbtq characters (dream daddy, sailor moon, ok-ko, psychonauts). I even pointed it out to them.

Well after the rebranding, I went “hey, I’m bisexual and a trans ally. So I don’t want you to be you know a bigot around here” then a new account came, called @/ireblogthetruth. IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO TRANSPHOBIC MATERIAL JUST BLOCK AND REPORT THAT ACCOUNT. DO NOT EVEN TRY TO LOOK AT THEIR STUFF. Saying some extremely transphobic stuff and telling me to find Jesus. Actively approaching someone who says they’re safe for EVERYONE and saying bigoted stuff followed by “Jesus is always there for you” is rubbing salt on the wound. Luckily enough my mututal came to my defense to help me and I ended up blocking the account.

I blocked all these accounts. But well I still check up on them. I just don’t want them to interact with me.

I’m now entering speculative territory. Everything i say might be false. But that doesn’t mean that they are piece of shit humans. Block them and report because we can’t have someone who’s so transphobic on that app.

Look at the pfp/header. It’s the same owner probably. Mysterycharacterbracket and mysteriesofmilo might and probably are the same person

I am pretty sure Mysteriesofmilo and ireblogthetruth are the same. And I do have some proof outside of the headers. First, they @ed my second poll account and not this one. Second, ireblogthetruth are very much with TERFs on the whole transphobic thing. Actively agreeing with J.Ks transphobia while going “I’m not a feminist,” is something very common with right wing transphobes.

In a deleted post, mysterycharacterbracket went “I’m not a terf, I am not a radical feminist��

And in a now deleted post, when mysterycharacterbracket is asked about what happened. They start talking about their faith despite labeling trans people as mentally ill. Who else would uses religion as an inherent cure for being trans? The other account.

Who is pro gun? Both of them

Now, the mysteriesofmilo (and mysteriesofmarcy) is known within the Dampyverse Tumblr community for being a piece of shit. Saying transphobic stuff about the creators child.

Both of the accounts are aware that mysterycharacterbracket is blacklisted from tournament tumblr. So maybe that’s why mysteriesofmilo used third person pronouns to refer to them.

Because hey isn’t it a funny coincidence that there’s two transphobic, pro gun, Christians, who are both a fan of Marcy Wu from amphibia? ISNT IT!

To finish this off. Block all of those accounts and report. They have used transphobic slurs. We can’t actively have a rampant transphobe be on tumblr.

there isn’t an outfit or accessory of yours that hasn’t been hand picked by her — of course they’re all your style and things you like, but she got rid of all of your old clothes to buy you a whole new wardrobe

video calls you multiple times a day when she’s on tour — once in the morning, once at night, once before a gig and sometimes during practise if she wants to show off

she’ll get extremely pouty and petty if you don’t answer, sending for security to check on you if you don’t pick up in two calls — no she doesn’t care that you’re bathing, she should take priority over everything

because all of her fans know your full name and your appearance, you’ll get recognise and swiftly mobbed by them no matter where you go (shopping, walking, on a date, running errands or even having repairs done at home) — which means that leaving shining glitter cookie becomes basically impossible

shit there’s even a whole social media account that manages to liveblog any sightings of you in public so you’re even more screwed if they find out you’ve separated from her

she’s a rising star in one genre and well established in another, has a massive amount of fans, is extremely well loved by her peers and viewers and has made your relationship a huge aspect of her identity — there’s no way you’d be able to break up with her and get out unscathed

she’s also really good at emotionally manipulating you so it’s unlikely you’d even be allowed to break up in the first place

she’d never even dream of hurting you but she has called in a few favours to keep any romantic rivals or attention stealers (family and friends) away from you — whether that’s by outright having them killed or having them blacklisted from the events and locations she headlines

What the new "Heroes" of Superman Legacy can tell us about the DCU

To somehow everyone's surprise, it seems DC has jumped the Gunn. (See what I did there?)

While many were convinced the antagonists of the 2025's Superman Legacy would be The Authority, The Elite, or even a mixture of the two, it appears for now it may be a prototype version of the Justice League.

James Gunn has casted three JLA members including Isabela Mercad as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern AKA Guy Gardner.

While the Authority, the Elite, or even another major Superman villain can play a part, I believe the spot of heroes who "do what they have to" may have been taken.

While this is a shocking turn of events, and one that may be regretful as over world building was the death of the DCEU, I do think these castings and choice of characters tells a good deal about Gunns priorities.

You see, unlike Black Adam, which brought together a team Justice Society members who it seemed Warner Bros said The Rock could have, this team seems purposeful.

So let's go through the characters and see their potential for the DCU:

Starting with the one I'm most excited for:

Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl

You thought I was gonna say Green Lantern, didn't you?

Isabela Merced is a fairly young actress, known for roles like Juliet in Hulu's Rosalind, The Widow Queen in Maya and the Queen, and most famously....

Dora Dora Dora the Explorer.

Merced is a bright young talent, who has been consistently working since 2014 and landed decent roles in big projects. Whether she continues on to be a great character actress or a leading actor, adding Merced in the DCU early almost guarantees having a star down the line.

But even more importantly than any of that, Hawkgirl is a great choice to begin a DCU.

Like Clark, she is an alien, a young hero, and a brawler. The two can find common footing and begin a very heartfelt friendship that can last throughout the DCU.

Unlike her counterpart Hawkman who isn't really any interesting, Hawkgirl was a founding member of the team for many peoples introduction to DC, The Justice League and Justice League Unlimited cartoons.

More than that, her betrayal for her home race of Thanagarians is one of the most iconic parts of the show.

If that is part of the larger narrative Gunn is trying to tell, that tells me Gunn is honoring what fans actually love.

Plus having a Peruvian woman play Hawkgirl just makes my Latinx/Hispanic heart happy.

Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific

I'm glad Darwin is getting another shot at this superhero thing.

Known for his roles in X-Men First Class, Twilight, The Blacklist, and The Harder They Fall, Edi Gathegi has also had a rather impressive career.

I like this trend Gunn has currently with Gathegi, Merced and Corenswet of actors you may recognize but not know.

What's more interesting than the cast is the character.

Mister Terrific is considered the third smartest person in the DC Universe. While he is known to use T-Spheres as a weapon, he also is an extremely skilled hand to hand combatant, a Renaissance man if you will.

To put him in perspective, he often has a friendly rivalry with Batman.

Terrific is a fan favorite character, and one we haven't seen before in film. He can bring a dynamic fighting style, and a perspective of advanced intellect that can challenge Clark. Gunn clearly wants to bring in the characters people love, in a way they don't expect.

Which leads me to:

Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern

Just not the one you're thinking.

I could go into Fillion's history, but you know him. Castle. Firefly. The Rookie. He's an icon.

While he was famously fan casted and even voiced Green Lantern Hal Jordan in several pieces of animated media, Nathan Fillion is now the DCU's Guy Gardner.

Which is, bizarre.

While Fillion is more than a capable enough actor, and has the comedic timing to play the role, I never would've expected a Green Lantern in the first Superman movie, let alone THIS one.

For those not in the know, Guy Gardner is the asshole Green Lantern. He was a football star who suffered a career ending injury in college, and kind of lives in his glory days. He's a more aggressive, often more obnoxious Lantern. Definitely the least heroic of the bunch.

Introducing Guy as the first Green Lantern, and likely leader of the JL that lost their way, makes a lot of sense. It could tempt Clark to be more like Guy, and even better, remind Guy what it means to be a hero.

In any case, character shows me Gunn is not following a specific playbook. There is no order to which Lantern comes first, nor Flash, nor any character.

Which is kind of exciting.

James Gunn has hit us with a huge curveball, basically telling us to expect the unexpected.

Which to me is a breath of fresh air.

I've gotten a lot better and more like I guess easygoing about spoilers in general as I've gotten older, like I do what I can on my end to avoid them bc I personally would rather not get spoiled but I'm generally like whatever about people posting them, like everyone enjoys media differently and I'm too old and tired to be out here policing other people's posts. I'd rather people tag spoilers bc it makes it easier for me to blacklist them but honestly even when they're not tagged like whatever. That's life in the big city, as one of my old co-workers would say, and generally they don't tend to impact my like media consuming experience that much anyway, like. I got a pretty big character death spoiled for me when I was catching up on the JJ/K manga but that didn't make it feel "ruined" or anything it was more just an "ah well that's what I get for being on TikTok I guess" kind of thing.

But idk this week's J/JK leaks felt different for some reason??? Like it made today's chapter feel so anticlimactic to me bc like. Everyone had essentially already read it, the whole chapter, and was posting about it (the whole chapter!!!), and unlike most leaks it was literally impossible to avoid anywhere on the internet. I got spoiled here on Tumblr which never happens!!!! The second the leaks dropped!!! Like what happened to this site being dead lol??

And I keep emphasizing that it was the whole chapter bc idk, usually when something gets spoiled for me it's just like one scene or moment, so I can still experience everything else that happens around the spoiler as new and still have like something to look forward to in the form of the surrounding context I guess??? But today it was just like well. I've already read this. Several times. Since Wednesday. Without even meaning to. Lol. So it didn't even feel like I got a new chapter today. Idk.

Like the internet hype has been fun and funny but with it being delivered piecemeal over several days rather than a single explosion when the chapter dropped, idk. It just didn't hit the same ig ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

actually i wanna jump off this post and talk abt filtering for a hot second because tag and post text filtering is THE killer feature tumblr has over All Other Social Media for me and i want it to be maximally good. (like, on twitter the post filtering literally doesn't work on the chronological feed, and if people want to include CWs they have to be in the POST BODY so 1) you can't add additional warnings to stuff you retweet (unless you QRT, but i feel like it would be considered weird/argumentative to qrt a post just to add warnings) and 2) it counts AGAINST THE CHARACTER LIMIT. and also due to the structure of twitter as a website, the Issue Du Jour is MUCH more inescapable in fandom spaces. also, a pettier concern, but it's impossible to blacklist fandoms you don't care about or want to see; i will probably never watch new trigun at this point because after danmei twitter's relentless obsession with it i've quite simply seen Too Much. not to even MENTION my beloathed gensh*n *mpact.)

i think "semi-standardized" tumblr content warning tags tend to emerge spontaneously sometimes, out of the primordial froth -- like, if you warn for Presence Of Food your tag is probably "food cw" or "tw: food" or the like, and if i have an eating disorder triggered by images of food, i can just stick "food" in the tumblr tag blacklist and i'll be fine. or, actually, if anyone ELSE reblogging the post before you has tagged it "food cw" the filter will also catch it and i'll be fine.

however, the set of Emergent Standardish Tumblr Tags is kind of idiosyncratic; it includes "scopophobia" and "flashing lights" and the very vaguely defined "unreality" but not "ai generated images" or "fake post" or "reblog coercion" (you know, the "reblog or something bad will happen" ones). the latter three are all things i personally tag for (for the record i probably have about 95% reliability with CW tags; i will try to hit 99% if someone who follows me specifically requests a tag but i also can't guarantee tags will be fully propagated into my archives).

in this particular case, if people tag posts about The Submarine with *any* content warning they usually tag them "death" or "violence" from what i've seen (or "current events", which is good actually and i wish more people did that). and enough people tag instances of *fictional* death or violence with those content warnings that those tags are functionally useless for me to blacklist (i'm, uh, in the naruto fandom). the problem is that there's *no* canonical tag for Real Life Mass Death, which means that i have about ten terms related to mass shootings blacklisted and despite my best efforts i STILL find out about every mass shooting from poasts on tumblr dot com, and the mood whiplash from posts about cat pictures or isopods to "FIFTY PEOPLE ARE DEAD" fucks me up really bad.

the other problem is untagged goddamn screenshots from goddamn twitter.

i know i have no real room to judge here because i screenshot things instead of copy/pasting them all the time (tumblr tags are not selectable in the ios mobile app which is where i mainly post from), but these are terrible for several reasons: first, the words-in-post-body filter won't catch them; second, screen reader users can't read them; third, they take WAY longer to load for people on slow internet. but also, everyone seems to use twitter dark mode and light-text-on-dark-background is eye-straining for me (and makes my eyesight actively worse if i read light-on-dark text for too long, for some fucking reason; i have theories, but this post isn't about my bizarre eye issues). OCR is pretty good now! i don't understand why we don't have a tumblr feature -- or, hell, some third-party tool -- where you can paste in a screenshot and get a copyable text version. or, like, a tumblr feature that OCRs screenshots and automatically adds alt text if none was provided.

but ALSO also i think we need a norm of being a little more careful or thorough with content tags on screenshots. even if people don't content warn their tumblr text posts at *all* i can usually knock out 95% of content i'd like blacklisted with text filters, but the untagged goddamn twitter screenshots make it through every time. and the twitter screenshots are always the WORST takes, because twitter is a cesspit. maybe we should start content warning for twitter.

anyway my final thought -- god DAMN it i think i saw someone post about this last night, maybe @kodicraft?, and now i can't find the post -- is that it is unreasonably difficult to blacklist names of Famous People You Are Tired Of Hearing About. the example in the post i saw was "elon" because elon is also in "melon" and "elongate" and a lot of other common english words; i've been having a similar struggle with "trump" since about 2017. and then there's the thing where everyone gives them a billion nicknames like "elongated muskrat" or "orange man". i don't know what the solution to this is. i hesitate to request everyone tag their elonpoasting "elon musk". thoughts??

In advance of our upcoming IndieGogo campaign for Livescreamers, I want to share the full new cast for the film!

Livescreamers is the next feature horror film from Octopunk Media and today I can announce the full cast! This ensemble of actors makes up the fictional "Janus Gaming" team, a group of gaming content creators who fight for their lives against a haunted video game. The film is a found footage adventure that combines live action performances with custom gameplay built in Unreal Engine.

Leading is Michael Smallwood from Halloween Kills as "Nemo," a reserved member of the group who struggles to reconcile his desire to be liked by the audience with the traumas his audience has weighed on him. Next we have

 Neoma Sanchez as "Lucy," a shy young fan who visits the studio for the day. Of course, she picks the day where everyone's lives are threatened by a murdering game...but what can you do?

Christopher Trindade & Evan Michael Pearce make up the dynamic duo of "Jon" and "Davey," two best friends who share a webcam. Davey, always a coward during horror games, commentates over Jon's gameplay. Their fame hinges on their relationship, for better or for worse.

Anna Lin is "Zelda," a bona fide gamer girl from birth with a bubbly, positive personality. The only thing that gets her miffed is when bros try to stump her with Nintendo trivia. 

I'm so excited to reunite with Jillian Geurts as "Gwen," especially since the Hell House LLC movies made her no stranger to found footage. Gwen is an ambitious and intelligent woman who is often reduced to being judged only on her looks. She is also married to her teammate, Taylor.

Next we have Maddox Julien Slide as "Dice," a queer powerhouse who dominates the team with raw skill. Although often misunderstood by their peers and audience alike, Dice is firm in their convictions and their self esteem.

Horror veteran Lukas Hassel is "Mitch," the founder of Janus Gaming who has grown reserved and cynical with the challenging decisions he's made to keep his team afloat. You might know Lukas from The Blacklist or the upcoming Shudder movie Slapface!

And finally there's Coby Oram as Gwen's husband "Taylor," the handsome and charismatic fangirl favorite, who is equal parts sweet and chaotic.

In light of the most recent controversy on the dinluke tag I think we as a community need to recap the concept of tagging specific content. The entire purpose of tagging, whether it be on tumblr, AO3, or literally any social media platform, is to indicate what exactly is included in whatever you’ve just posted - the writing on the tin, essentially.

‘Curating your own experience’ is a sentence that has been thrown around a lot recently, and yes, it’s important to build and regulate your own interactions in fandom and the types of content you consume. But that involves both parties to do so. You cannot curate your content if that content is not labelled. One of the main issues here is that dark content, or triggering content, is being mislabeled or simply not tagged at all. I know that in most cases, this is completely accidental - but it’s still something we need to talk about.

I think one of the biggest misunderstandings, particularly in this fandom, is the origin of the ‘dead dove do not eat’ tag. People more eloquent than me have summarized this before but basically the phrase comes from a sitcom episode in which a character opens a fridge, sees a bag in there labelled ‘dead dove: do not eat’, and proceeds to open the bag to see what’s inside. There is indeed a dead dove in the bag and the character says, “I don’t know what I expected.” The point is that the character had been warned what was inside the bag, and chose to look anyway. In terms of fandom, this phrase became a tag to indicate that whatever is on the tin, whatever warnings are in the tags, are going to be inside that particular content - you’ve been warned, essentially. Unfortunately, this tag has started to morph into a replacement for specific trigger warnings, being commonly misunderstood as a blanket trigger warning itself. It’s not. Some people may be alright with reading certain dark topics or themes but stay away from others -  for instance, you may be alright with fics that contain the graphic violence tag but not ones that include SA or rape. If the fic or post is labelled with the ‘dead dove’ tag, how are you meant to know which triggers or themes will be addressed specifically?

This is not to say that dark fic and dark content should not be created. This is the internet - you can post whatever you want, and that’s fine! That’s your right! It’s what we’re all here for! But freedom to post what you like does not constitute freedom from consequences. Content creators, in posting to widespread communities on the internet, have a responsibility to that community. You cannot put the onus on everyone else to curate their own experience if your content is unable to be curated. Regulating content is done through tags. People curate what they see by blocking or blacklisting tags. That means that fic and content must be tagged correctly for this to be done. It’s not enough to be aware that certain authors and certain blogs will post this content - many new fandom members likely do not know this.

Most recent mis-tagging incidents in this fandom have been honest mistakes, and the point of this post is not to name-and-shame or condemn any users. It happens! But when there have been frequent incidents, it’s important to take a step back and review our understanding of tagging and content curation so that we’re all on the same page.

Summary:

Phantoms, the new Network TV show, recently got picked up for its second season and filming is already underway. The show follows a special government unit tasked with dealing with the supernatural. The series will return Marci Harrison who portrays the lead detective in charge of a group of junior detectives (Reggie Peters, Alex Mercer, Kayla Caro), forensic scientists (Luke Patterson and Julie Molina), and a rookie detective (Flynn Rider). 

Julie Molina is enjoying her time on Phantoms, the supernatural detective show. It had been her saving grace after being blacklisted from basically everywhere following her media feud with former Disney Channel costar Carrie Wilson that tanked her music career before it even started.

But with rumors that the show isn’t going to get a third season, Julie is worried about her career completely ending with no jobs or recording contracts in sight.

Add in the fact that even if they get a third season, Julie’s costar might leave the show and go off to pursue his music career.

And Julie is trying to understand why said costar potentially leaving is making her so upset.

The series will return Marci Harrison who portrays the lead detective in charge of a group of junior detectives (Reggie Peters, Alex Mercer, Kayla Caro), forensic scientists (Luke Patterson and Julie Molina), and a rookie detective (Flynn Rider).

Marci Harrison, 46, affectionally called Mrs. Harrison by her costars, is definitely the most veteran member of the cast, previously starring in two other shows for the Network, playing a teacher on the hit ten-season show Recess, and is recently coming off of a four-season show starring as the mother on Home with the Houses. Mrs. Harrison plays Captain Hopkins, the serious no-nonsense lead detective constantly dealing with the antics of her younger and less experienced detectives.

Flynn Rider, 22, plays detective Fiona, the fun and wild rookie whose first day on the job opened up the series. Rider previously played the youngest daughter in the Freeform show, Life with the Clarks, for eight seasons, spending almost her entire teens growing up on the show. She also has been announced as part of the cast for the new superhero movie coming next Spring. Rider was moved up to second billing behind Harrison for the second season, the showrunners stating that it was always the plan and that the show will spend time following her storyline.

Alex Mercer, 24, and Reggie Peters, 24, play detectives Allan and Rick respectively. The two play the buddies on the show, with Peters playing the more chaotic and jokester of the two and Mercer playing the more levelheaded one, although his character still gets roped into all of the antics. Mercer previously starred on a handful of Nickelodeon shows while Peters has spent a lot of time doing voice work and only a few camera jobs.

Kayla Caro, 24, plays the strong detective Kristen, who has the most experience of the detectives besides their captain and spends a lot of time putting the guys in their place and kicking ass. Caro spent many years in the industry, modeling and doing many commercials. She is most known for her dancing, specifically as a troupe dancer on Dancing with the Stars for two seasons. She also starred as the love interest in the superhero-themed Disney Original Movie, Super Senior.

Julie Molina, 22, and Luke Patterson, 24, might be last on the cast list, but the two have been slowly gaining a small but mighty following for their portrayal of science duo Dr. Jane Ortega and Logan Guise. The two characters take care of the forensic side of the show, playing the inseparable best friends and partners who might be a little nerdy and cannot always understand the social cues of their fellow team members. Molina is best known for her lead role on the Disney Channel show Dirty Candies but is known even more for the very public feud with her costars Carrie Wilson and Nick Danforth-Evans. Patterson has probably the most extensive resume out of all of the younger cast, even rivaling Harrison. Patterson has worked since he was a small child, starring in many movies, tv shows, and commercials since. Patterson has also been announced as the lead for Frank Wolfe’s new film about a struggling indie rockstar. Molina and Patterson had previously worked together on the  Disney Channel's Original Movie Meddling, playing the older siblings of the two main characters that they try to get together.

After barely getting picked up for season two, showrunner and executive producer Caleb Covington says that he plans on making the second season more impactful, with more character development, more spooky (and a little wacky) storylines, and scenes to really show off the talented casts acting chops.

How To Fandom

Okay I’ve been really really wanting to write a masterpost about how to stay sane on this website for a while now, and I think it’s time.

So You Joined The Dream SMP Fandom/Basically Any Fandom.  You Feel Like You Are In Hell.  How Do You Keep Sane?

The block button is your friend.  Unless the person who has been blocked tries messaging you or interacting with your posts, then they’ll never find out they’ve been blocked.  You can also do something called “softblocking,” which is blocking and then unblocking them to make them unfollow you.  Chances are they might not even notice you’re no longer on their feed.  Block people who annoy you.  Block people who give you bad vibes.  Block everyone and anyone who makes you uncomfy.  It’s worth it.

Tag filter tag filter tag filter.  Tumblr has its own tag filtering option.  If you block the word “gore” it won’t block “gore tw” but it’s good to use because it will synch all your filtered tags between mobile and desktop.

If you use Chrome, you should install the New Xkit extension.  It has lots of different filtering options, like the option to block individual posts and all variations of them, blacklist words, hide advertisements, and more.  There’s also additional accessibility options.  Seriously I cannot reccomend being able to block posts enough, it’s extremely helpful for clearing your feed of the same annoying rants that keep popping up over and over again.

Turn off anon unless you’re comfortable with having it on.  Anon is a nice way for friendly shy people to message you, yes, but it’s not worth it if there’s people flooding your inbox with hate.  You are not a coward for wanting to see the faces of the people who felt the need to take the time out of their day to bait and harass you.  Anons harassing you this way want you to post their answers for others to see, because if it was just about making you feel bad, they’d PM you directly to tell you how much they hate you.  No, it’s about the fact that they can do it with zero repercussions.  Don’t let them get the chance.

Take breaks.  Log out of the app and have some food and water.

If you see a post that makes you angry, ask yourself if seeing the same topic in a week will make you just as angry.  Ask yourself if it’s worth it to spread that anger to others.  Is the information in the post verifiable?  Does it need repeating?  If the answer to any of these questions is “no” I suggest not spreading it.

If you’re about to argue with someone over their stupid opinions, ask yourself...  “Will this argument die out after five minutes?  Am I prepared if it goes on longer than that?  Is this person probably too stupid to comprehend that they’re a moron?” and if the answer is “yes” then just take the moral high ground and leave.

If you have a post you’re not sure about (maybe it’s controversial, or maybe you’re just feeling extra anxious today), save it to your drafts and come back to it later.  It may also help you find typos.

Posts that have already been made can be changed to “private” which will allow you to see them, but nobody else.

Alright Those Are Cool Tips!  How Do You Make Tumblr Better For Others?

Be respectful of other’s boundaries.  Unless you’re friends with a blog, do not assume they’re comfortable talking about absolutely everything with you.  The big blogs on this site don’t have social media managers, they’re not therapists, they’re just normal people who didn’t need to wake up to requests for feet pics.  Please be nice to them.

Don’t put unrelated character tags on your posts, it’s especially rude when I’m scrolling through the Eret tag and see unrelated fanart of different characters entirely.

Leave the “#m*neblr” and “#m*necraft” tags alone.  It’s not for us.  Use “#mcyt.”

When you trigger tag things like seizure warnings make sure you’re actually using the correct tag for such things.  For example if you’re tagging gifs for epilepsy warnings, “#epilepsy warning” is better than “#epilepsy” since the first tag is a warning, and the second tag is just the name of the medical condition itself. (Don’t have epilepsy, it’s just a good example)

I love it when people leave nice things on my posts!!  I love it so much!!!!! Putting things in the tags is nice if you think your comment might be cluttering, but you want others to see it don’t be shy about slapping it into the reblogs :)

Remember that there is a myriad of reasons someone might not have answered an ask you sent!  Tumblr really does eat asks sometimes for unknown reasons, the contents might not have made the recipient comfy, or they might have cleaned the inbox out, or they just might not have wanted to answer it.  The recipient might not be comfortable with you sending an ask about where the first one went, but if they are, please be polite and know they don’t have to answer you if they don’t want to!!

Sometimes fandom drama can get out of hand.  You know the author of the Dream Apologist Manifesto?  They got death threats.  Don’t contribute to harassment, no matter how much you think it’s deserved.  Don’t be that guy.

People say that Aoi is hated by the writers because her losses were uniquely brutal and humiliating in a way that feels mean-spirited. Yes, everyone in VRAINS jobs, but Aoi is the only one whose character-arc-fulfillment duel at the end of the series has her opponent explain to her that she needs to live with the fact she's a failure who never accomplished her goals.

Yeah, and Spectre's a crazy person and Bowman had basically no personality and a Deck of "Original CAC Donut Steal", so why should I care about the opinions of non-characters.

If you mean Ai, I'd keep in mind the dude was fucking intentionally pissing off, baiting, and insulting everyone he knew specifically to suffer Suicide by Cop because he basically turned into a Doomer with shitty High School Nihilism thanks to Lightning. Of course he's going to claim that to Aoi to bait her to attempt to kill him.

(I would argue Aoi, Playmaker and Soulburner all got the same thing of never accomplishing their 'goals' because I feel an under analyzed point of VRAINS is trying to do heroic things while ignoring your actual problems was a huge subtheme. Homura only resolved his problems by going home, Aoi lost nearly everything that mattered by overacting as hero, Playmaker by chasing revenge found there was no one to save, Go basically became a deranged drug addict by being obsessed with Playmaker, etc.)

Like we can debate this night and day.

But the end of the fact is.

Aoi's Voice Actress got written out in Season 1 because her firm was imploding at the time and she needed time to establish a new legal entity for her to work under.

She got humongous treatment writing her into being a part of the hero's squad regularly when they could of let her rot on the sidelines. They literally rewrote the fact she wasn't tied to the Ignis to make her tied to the Ignis. These do not strike me as intentionally malicious writing decisions.

Like, about the ONLY real bad decision here is we did not get Aoi fighting slutty cyber wetsuit Miyu with a bitchy attitude in Mirror Link VRAINS, which is how most times this sort of plotline resolves itself, but that might of countered VRAINS' whole subtheme that playacting hero or avenger is a deeply dangerous thing to do that will rarely lead you to what you actually want.

On Konami's end, they made both Trickstar and Marincess incredibly good as Decks, in so far as much can be concerned. These aren't things you do if you 'hate' a character.

If you want to see actual hostile treatment to a character by Konami, look at Dennis MacField and his fucking inability to get his Pendulum Performages printed because the first 2 waves of his Deck were too good, thus blacklisting his theme for ages.

As so far as Duel Links, they literally dedicated the first Mini Box of the new 'year' of Duel Links to Aoi's Deck. The first major event of VRAINS is centered on her. With a 'play this preconstructed version of Trickstar so you can go POGGERS' set of Duels.

I'm sorry but this is a crazy person's argument at this point to claim she's explicitly hated. I have to assume you're either media illiterate, an incel, or twisting a narrative at this point.

his favorite music genre is bubblegum kpop. porco groans everytime reiner has the aux bc he just plays really preppy cute songs kpop songs about falling in love after school. he doesn't like... stan any of the groups like he doesn't know every detail of their lives but he casually watches their interviews sometimes and knows all the member names of his favorite groups. he has a photocard from an album you gave him, and it sits in his phone case behind a polaroid of you two. also he learns the dances sometimes.

likes watching cartoons sometimes, he wont binge watch an entire season of them but if he has sometimes he'll throw on a cute mindless cartoon just to relax. he usually watches slice of life and romance tv shows in general, stuff without much tension or drama and is just cute.

good cook, terrible baker. if he bakes something it will look awful and taste kind of bad. but his cooking is really good, once you guys got comfortable together instead of going out to eat you opt for him cooking for you two instead.

likes to buy her clothes second hand. she's a really well dressed girl but she's not concerned with being overly trendy, so she finds that a lot of stores don't really have things she likes. she likes long hemlines and almost everything is cropped these days, so she opts for thrift stores and vintage stores to get things her style. plus she saves a lot of money. she really suits pearl jewelry and has a timeless sense of fashion.

she has a minivan and will drive anyone anywhere, and she rarely asks for gas money. often picks up zeke porco and reiner when they hang out and will always pick you up for dates. her car is ancient but runs like a charm because shes knowledgeable about maintenance, and super fuel efficient.

has a really old phone with no cracks or scratches or anything. doesn't see the point in getting a new one until one day she notices how convenient porco's brand new up to date iphone is and starts saving up for one, but every time she saves up enough a new one comes out.

porco galliard:

plays volleyball, and is on a scholarship for it. jumps really high and is really lithe and quick, making him a good libero (but this is the extent of my volleyball knowledge so i will not make anymore comment. please let me know what position porco plays.)

gets in (non fatal) car accidents surprisingly often, and speeding tickets even more. marcel is tired of it because it is throwing his insurance costs over the roof and forces him to enroll in lessons but they really don't help.

he is the one to pay for the streaming services and has everyone else plus you leech off his account. he complains abt it but texts the gc every time he changes the password so he doesn't really have the right.

colt grice:

on the blacklist for several frats because he went to their block parties, drank too much, and vomited in someones bed, another person's cat's litterbox, a different persons laundry basket, a different different persons moms sweater, and another frats oven. he's really apologetic and always cleans up and reimburses everyone as much as he can, but he is a menace and is only allowed in if he promises not to drink. on that drinking note if you need advice, go out for drinks with colt. he will get incredibly inebriated, give you the best wisdom and advice you've ever heard, and forget everything the next day.

really bad at video games but really fun to play them with. doesnt get on very often, but will play when he has some free time or is asked by his friends. only on weekends and only for like two hours at a time. the video game system at his house doesnt even belong to him its Falcos.
