things i love about heartstopper 68/?

I love that HS shows a Black trans woman thriving and loved and supported. I love that Elle's main storylines are about deciding where to go to art school, about making friends, about relationship dramas - teenage stories!! I love that Elle gets to be a person - without having her transness erased, without having the challenges associated with that erased (I'll talk more about those in a future post).

We need these stories, we need to see more stories of trans people - especially trans women of colour, especially now - that are more than tragedy porn. As so many countries actively make trans lives harder and more dangerous, we need something to hold onto. We need stories that show cis people how to love and support us.

Elle is wildly talented, thoughtful, funny, and fun. She's ambitious, and creative, brave and adventurous. And she doesn't have to fit some imaginary ideal of the "perfect woman" for the people in her life to love her. She gets to have emotions, to have difficulty dealing with situations, to be angry, to be upset - all things that women, especially Black women, especially especially Black trans women, are usually punished for. Elle is so important. She wants a big life, and she deserves it, and everyone around her knows it.

We need to see trans people - trans women - having fun. Because they deserve to enjoy their lives, freely and in the sure and certain knowledge that they're loved and lovable.

If the incest bait is going somewhere, it had better GET THERE so we can STOP DWELLING ON IT. At this point I'd almost be fine with Aqua and Ruby officially hooking up just so we'd know Akasaka's intentions for sure. Almost.

Yes!! It took me forever to work out how everything will work with obx characters added in, taking place of some Riverdale characters, how their relationships would change because of it but I think I've figured everything out.

Topper isn't Jason! He's Julian minus a couple awful qualities. It was tempting to make him Jason because I assigned the Cameron's to the Cooper's, originally making Sarah Polly, but I couldn't bring myself to a) kill him and b) tarnish Jason's good boy character.

There will be a lot of changes, including the murders, and a lot of things left the way they are. I love Riverdale for what it is <3
