Mostly use in South-West of France, Chocolatine is a derived word of "chicolatina" (petit pain) in occitan, main language in South of France until XXth century.

Chocolatine reflects cultural regional identity, marking the authenticity of this viennoiserie to its root. And it is actually austrian !

More interesting thing, it's from the english "Chocolate in bread", keeping asking to boulanger "a chocolate in" that chicolatina was born.
