a/n | thank you so much for your request luv! I hope I could write something as you wanted
!he's had mixed feelings from the moment he first saw you. hate? anger? like?
oh no, not like. he just hates you so much that he wants to fuck you until you know your place.
"fucking bitch."
"huh?" thanos looked at him incomprehensibly, about to turn his head to you, but nam-gyu quickly changed the subject "nothing."
!he's insanely jealous of thanos👀 even if you don't respond to his flirting, seeing a man next to you makes him angry enough. at least it gives him a reason to make you cry more.
!he should be the only one who annoys you. if he sees someone picking on you, he'll quickly intervene, at first he'll protect you from that person, but then...
"are you too stupid to not protect yourself? no. don't even think about crying." his emotionless voice makes you tremble as he watches you quickly wipe your tears away "good. don't you dare unless I make those tears flow."
!he likes to tease you until you cry because he thinks you look so beautiful with tears in your eyes. If you turn your head and try to hide your face from him, he will forcefully grab your chin and make you look at him with your eyes full of tears. you will see that he is trying to calm down by taking a deep breath because oh...you have no idea how horny he is.
!If he can't sleep at night, he will come to your bed and bother you. If he can't sleep, you can't sleep either. but strangely, talking at night is when you get along the most. guess you are both too tired to argue, but that doesn't mean he won't say a few things about you.
okay, now please hear me out..
!this man is completely clingy when he loves you, but he is also hard when he fucks you, I can't say he doesn't like slow sex, but when he can fuck you like crazy, he doesn't really think about the other option.
!I say clingy because he can never be comfortable if his hand is not on your body in some way. he has to touch you in some way so that he feels better. when you least expect it, you may find his hands on your waist pulling you closer to him "mm...look who's here?"
!If we talk about life outside of the game, you can become his only world. yes, he likes to make you cry and upset. but only you. the others have never caught his attention and they don't. he still thinks you have the most beautiful tears.
!I can't say he's very loud in bed. he'll mostly let out short gasps and short moans. he likes listening to you more, whine for him and he'll make you see stars.
!he likes to tease you and make you cum so much that you cry from sensitivity. when you beg him to stop, he just puckers his lower lip in a mocking tone.
"aw.. does it hurt? what should I do?" he leans into your ear while his fingers, which don't stop, hit the inside of your pussy hard while you just had your 3rd orgasm "Is that all you can take? c'mon.. you can give me more, hm? ah..yes don't hide your voice from me, fuck-"
!he'll run his hand over you while you're sleeping at night, sorry not sorry. when you open your eyes and notices how his fingers are expertly tangled in your wetness, he'll smirk and say "you awake? good. now you better spread your legs for me and be loud as possible."
he's obsessed with you in some way, romantic or not, and he has no plans to leave your side.

જ⁀ SAY IT TO MY FACE
“It was rare for Yuji Itadori to keep things from you. He didn’t like keeping secrets, it made something tight bud in his chest and made him feel guilty every time he looked at you. He only ever kept one secret, not only from you, but from the world.”

Yuji Itadori x F!Reader
Words — 5.7k
Contents — 4+1 fic, violence, kidnapping, distress, mentions of death/loss, I can’t write fights for shit, no actual angst this time because I feel bad for hurting people again and again oops, but maybe angst if you squint?, I don’t proofread, lmk if I missed any <3
In a mess of crushing expectations and unfamiliar fluttering in your chest, you somehow cross paths with Tokyo’s one and only Spiderman. Maybe the eerie similarity he has to your best friend isn’t a coincidence at all, nor is the odd care he has for you. OR Four times Spiderman loved you, one time Yuji did it himself.
a/n — hi sofia yes this is for you teehee @rreveurdoll . I actually love spiderman yuji so much he’s been sitting in my notes app since august he just suits it saurrrrrrrr well I can’t do this it’s so uhghhughf. Also iera agreed with me so it was my final push hai ily
There was always a certain sort of familiarity about spiderman, a tranquil warmth that reminded you of something you could never quite put your finger on. It radiated from him like aura, constantly flowing but never really explaining itself. It was apparent in the way he held you—arm under your knees and another around your shoulders, almost as if he knew you were ticklish in the sides, like he knew you better than you knew yourself. The way he talked to you like he’d done it a million times before, his eyes lingering on the curve of your lips for just a beat too long, it was just so… knowing. Every time he interacted with you, it felt like he knew something you didn’t. That was because, well, he did.
It was rare for Yuji Itadori to keep things from you. He didn’t like keeping secrets, it made something wretched bud in his chest and made him feel guilty every time he looked at you. He only ever kept one secret, not only from you, but from the world. The hundreds, maybe thousands of people that might kill him if given the chance. And if you knew, maybe they’d get to you too. He couldn’t have that. It already haunted his every waking moment and it hadn’t even happened yet. Yet. That was the thing, it could happen at any moment. If he was the cause of your demise, he couldn’t forgive himself. So he tried his best, tried to keep his lips sealed the best he could, even if he struggled sometimes.
The first time you met spiderman, he almost screwed up. Already.
You’d somehow gotten caught up in the midst of a battle, the bakery you worked at getting completely annihilated by the commotion, so being the ever brave and courageous citizen you were, you ran for your fucking life. You somehow found it in you to remain at least relatively calm… until barely dodging a chunk of concrete thrown your way. The composure seemed to fade from there. You could feel your heart jumping out of your chest, but all you could think about was that you were lucky it was still beating.
That’s when he came swinging in. Literally. It was a flash of red out of the corner of your eye at first, you barely even paid any mind to it. But then his voice rang out with a call to you, and you couldn’t look the other way anymore.
“Hey! Y- miss!”
You took a moment to glance back, your loss of breath catching up to you as you panted and heaved. His feet hitting the ground was nothing but a small thump, swallowed up by the chaos bleeding in around you. “You can’t be out in the open like this. It’s dangerous.”
You couldn’t see his face, but you could basically hear the furrow of his brows. Through your pants, you managed gasp out a reply that you fear was just a bit too sassy. “I know. That’s why I’m running.”
His face fell just the slightest bit under the mask, but beneath that layer of latex was almost a smile. He found it hard to be amused right now, because honestly, when he saw you he felt like throwing up. Even before that, when he’d looked at the destroyed shell of what was your workplace, something sick twisted in his gut. It wasn’t fear, no, more than that. After every punch at the enemy came a glance among the crowd, desperately hoping to see you in one piece. When he landed in front of you and the first thing you’d said was dry and sassy and completely you, he couldn’t help the way his nerves felt just a little less racked. He wanted to hug you, to pull you into his arms and tell you how happy he was to see you, maybe get a kiss if he was lucky– huh?
But he wasn’t Yuji, and only Yuji had that sort of privilege. He was spiderman. He was a masked vigilante that you’d never been face to face with, so he tried to keep up the act. Therefore all he did was reply with a soft “yeah” before scooping you up and carrying you to safety, because that’s what spiderman does. He would’ve done it for anyone, really! But he handled you with just a bit more care, just a bit more warmth in those blank white eyes of his suit, because you weren’t just anyone. You were you.
He left you on the side of an untouched street feeling breathless and confused. Maybe you were naive, because his voice alone should’ve told you exactly who it was from the beginning. But there was a ringing in your ears from the noise, and your knees felt wobbly as well as your lips. You could barely think straight, so who could blame you? Mentally unmasking Tokyos famous spiderman wasn’t a common task in any situation, especially yours. Assuming it was your best friend felt crazy. Instead you remained oblivious and shaken on the side of the street, and he remained determined in the fight thinking of nothing but you.
— ⋮ ᰔ
The second time you met spiderman, the circumstances still weren’t great, but this time your life wasn’t on the line. Well, at least not literally.
The nights air was cold, nipping at your tear stained cheeks and clinging to the dampness left in its wake. Your eyes stung, both from the chill and the bitterness that welled up in your waterline and spilled over, only to drip down and fade away into the fabric of your jeans. Completely insignificant, but to you, they fell heavy. They beat down on you in a mocking rhythm, every droplet a reminder of the crushing weight of your failure. It was suffocating, but truly, would the lightness be any better? Would the complete lack of fulfillment, whether that be bliss or anguish, be less unbearable than the ache in your shoulders and the squeezing in your chest? You think that if it were, you wouldn’t still be sticking around. You wouldn’t be doing this. You just would’ve liked to feel less alone in the midst of it.
Your legs dangled freely over the stairs, the rusted metal of the fire escape not doing much to cage you in. As you swung them, felt nothing but air and the awareness of the ground so distant below, you got a taste of the lightness. A taste of your freedom, of your insignificance. Maybe that was all you needed to handle the rest of the weight.
As if your longing had been personally alerted to the universe, you heard a shuffling behind you. Your head whipped around just a little too fast—making something in your neck pop and reminding you that you really need to stop hunching over your laptop—enough to make your panic rather obvious. You were about to wonder how someone even made it up here, but then you saw him. The culprit stopped in his tracks, raising his two covered hands in an (unnecessary) surrender. It wasn’t like you could defend yourself if you tried, anyway. You were sat awkwardly on a set of rusted metal stairs with about two feet of space to run. You were no match for him. Fortunately for you, Yuj- spiderman wouldn’t dare hurt you. When you continued to stare at him through your teary eyes with a question he couldn’t answer, he realized he hadn’t come up with something to say. Luckily, you beat him to it.
“…spiderman?” Your voice was confused, small and almost weak as you tried to swallow the lump in your throat. He stared at you for a moment, only then remembering who he was. Right now he was spiderman, a stranger, and he had to act accordingly. The thing was—Yuji didn’t know how to act like a stranger to you. You’d become such a constant in each others lives that treating you as if you were unfamiliar simply defied the blood in his veins, the beating of his heart. He felt it thump angrily in his chest at the mere thought, because how could he feign distance when you were the one it beat for?
He cleared his throat. “Hi.”
A million questions ran through your head, countless quips or remarks, but your throat constricted around them and forbid them from jumping out. “Why are you… here?” you asked. Your voice was uncharacteristically bland, tired. He didn’t like it.
He shrugged, head tilting to the side. He leaned against the building, an attempt to be casual, but the brick was digging into his back and every sense he had was screaming at him to leap forward and hold you, to take the mask off and be who you needed. But when he considered the thought, the images of what might follow flashed through his mind like memories yet to come. He kept the mask on.
“Well, I was out… you know… doing spiderman things. And then I saw you. Looked like you could use a friend.”
Honestly? Yuji being out here was no sort of coincidence. The moment he’d felt a familiar tingling in the back of his mind, he was landing here before he could question why. In his soul, he knew why, knew it better than anyone. If Yuji couldn’t be there for you because he was spiderman, spiderman would have to fill in.
He paused, eyes trailing over the sag in your shoulders and the darkness under your eyes. You looked different than the last time he’d seen you—had it been weeks? A pang of something glum shot through him at the realization.
“What about you?” he asked, that teasing, spiderman-esque tone fading into something softer.
“Huh?”
“What’re you doing out here?”
You swallowed thickly. You felt as if you were stuck on a tightrope, looking between a reaching hand and the ground below. Let him slip his hand into yours, hoping it pulls you up, or fall? You were willing to take that risk. “Just… been fucking up a lot lately, I guess. This is my escape.”
He paused for a second. “Was that a pun?”
He felt victorious as he took in the subtle curl of your lips. “But forreal, what do you mean screwing up?”
A soft sigh left your lips, the air pooling in what looked like smoke around your face. You liked that—you could tell yourself that was the reason for your blurry vision, not that you were crying. Your fingers were twitching, and he wished he could take them.
“Just… nothing has been going right. Got my ass kicked by finals, I feel like shit, and- and usually I’d have my best friend, but…” you felt a painful throbbing in your chest, what you were about to admit feeling sour and wrong on your tongue. “He hasn’t been answering lately, he’s been… distant. Maybe he’s getting sick of me or something, I wish I knew.”
Yuji felt a tightening in his chest that was almost painful. Him. It was him. His spider sense had called him to fix a problem that he was the cause of. Sick of you? No, he could never be sick of you, but right now he felt ill. “He’d never,” he blurted without thinking, only realizing how odd that sounded once it had already reached your ears. “I mean– I’m sure he loves you.” His eyes widened comically. He kept blabbering, and it was only making things worse. “You seem lovely. Uh-“
To his surprise, you laughed. “Okay, okay, I get the point. Thanks… I think?”
He felt the heat that was crawling up his neck lower, simmer into a comfortable nothingness. “You’re welcome.”
By some strange coincidence, Yuji showed up at your door what must’ve been a mere three hours after your masked friend swung away into the night.
He seemed out of breath—almost panting, as if he’d just run a marathon (or fought the green goblin). He stood in your doorway, pink locks of hair rubbed in all different directions, chest rising and falling erratically.
Before you could open your mouth—ask what he was doing here and what sort of physical activity he was doing in the middle of the night, maybe—he was hugging you. His firm arms slithered around your waist, tugging you towards his chest without a word. He held you just a little tighter than usual, like he’d been waiting to do it for far too long. He had been.
“I haven’t seen you in two weeks,” he murmured, breath warm against your skin.
“I know.” Your words held a sense of bitterness, but you were hugging him back with a tenderness that contrasted what you wanted to feel.
“I missed you.”
How could he say something like that? How could he disappear for weeks and then come back and make your heart clench, because you know he means it? This was Yuji. Your Yuji. He talked to stray cats on the side of the road and was always there to lend a helping hand, whether that be to a sweet old lady or a convicted felon. He wouldn’t say he missed you if he didn’t, and either way, you knew he did. Whether it felt like it or not, you knew Yuji. You knew he missed you, felt it in the way his fingers gripped at the fabric of your shirt. It was almost desperate, like he was a shell of a man in need of fulfillment. As much as you wished you hated it, you wanted to be that for him.
That’s how you ended curled in bed, Yuji’s eyes trailing over your face for just a little too long, so much so that you weren’t sure he’d paid any attention to the movie in the first place. You didn’t say anything, but Yuji kept you just a little bit closer that night.
— ⋮ ᰔ
The third time you crossed paths with spiderman, it was you who sought him out. Well, sought is a strong word, you’d prefer to say that you gravitated towards him naturally. That wasn’t completely a lie, there truly was some sort of magnetic pull to him drawing you near, but your approach was completely by choice. But that wasn’t a conversation you were ready for, many layers of psychological complexities that you weren’t prepared to peel back, so you instead focused on the blurry red feet dangling from the rooftop and how you’d get up there to join them.
After a number of laps around the building that you’d need two hands to count, you hit the jackpot. Sitting humbly within the shadows of the dark, grey alley was a ladder. It was rickety and rusted and you feared it would be the last thing you ever saw—but it was a chance. Everyone took chances, didn’t they? Everything was a chance, in its own way. Love, hate, that answer scribbled into the last page of your exam that you’re not quite sure about. Spiderman took a chance every time he rounded a new building with those webs of his, took an even greater one with every fight and interaction with the public. He took a chance when he came to see you on that sullen night, and you still didn’t know why, but you knew you’d make it your mission to at least somewhat return the favour.
The metal was piercingly cold as your fingers wrapped around it, eliciting a wince from you, but only prompting you to hold on tighter. The sound of your boots clanking against the steps, the small grunt that left your lips as you threw yourself onto the roof—so many sounds barely heard beneath the never ending roar of the city. You heard sirens in the distance, and you wondered why spiderman was sitting in front of you instead of trailing near them.
His eyes met yours (sort of), and Yuji felt something warm flow through his veins. He felt his heart beat just a little quicker, thumping in time with your approaching footsteps. Suddenly the sirens didn’t seem so loud, the curse of his heightened senses not feeling so overwhelming as your face came into the light cast from below.
“Hey, y/n.” He spoke gently, like the words were something delicate, and they’d shatter if said too harshly.
He watched the way your eyes widened just slightly, brows twitching upwards in mild surprise. “You know my name?”
With a slightly wonky smile that you couldn’t see, he nodded. “Small world.”
“Isn’t it?”
Your words were meant to be a light response, but they only made the weight in his chest feel all the more dense. He turned back ahead, the cartoonish white eyes of his mask reflecting an infinite, erratic pattern of streetlights. His shoulders hung a little lower than usual, something you didn’t fail to catch. You sat beside him, legs hanging over the side of the building. The structure was sturdy and solid beneath your thighs, far more than both the barely-there balance of the ladder and his trembling breaths.
“It’s not, though,” he said softly, so quiet that it was almost whisked away by the winds of the evening. “The world is big. Too big.”
You tilted your head, hands pressing into the concrete to support your weight, but itching to reach out to him. You couldn’t give a reason why if asked, nothing other than the unspoken tranquility between you, like you knew much more than you spoke aloud. “What do you mean?” you asked.
“It’s too big. There’s too many people, so many that I can’t… I can’t save everyone. There’s always casualty in the wake of disaster, because the amount of people barely goes down each time. But- but they’re all people, they all deserve to be saved, but… they can’t.”
His words hung in the air, and invisible force between you that pushed down on his shoulders and deepened the furrow in his brows.
“You’re right,” you said. His head turned more quickly than it should’ve—he wasn’t expecting that response from you. Maybe you’d have given Yuji a different answer than you would spiderman. “Not everybody can be saved, but you still save people. A lot of them. Imagine if you never showed up, how many more people would die? A lot. Maybe you can’t save everyone, but you still save people, and that is what makes you good.”
It was as if your words were a sirens song, soothing him to silence and easing his thumping heart. For the first time ever, Yuji wasn’t exactly sure what to say. “Yeah,” he breathed after a moment, voice choked. “Yeah, you’re right.”
He looked up at you for a beat longer, taking in the way the ridges of your face were cast over by shadows, the way your hair fluttered and danced with every gust of wind. “Thank you.” He cleared his throat. “That friend you mentioned before… he’s lucky to have you.”
You shook your head gently. “If you met him, you’d think otherwise,” you said, oblivious to the fact that though spiderman hadn’t technically met Yuji Itadori, he knew him very well. “He’s great. Much better than me.” The corners of your lips quirked up fondly, something he could only describe as love being the force that pushed your smile wider. “He’s great,” you said, more breathily this time.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
The next hour or so was spent sharing mindless conversation, reminiscing over teenagehood in a way that made spiderman feel so close, but so far. He couldn’t rid himself of that odd feeling beneath his ribcage, the one that felt like his heart was trying to escape, wailing your name and clawing at him from the inside out. Luckily, the spider-suit did enough to keep it contained.
— ⋮ ᰔ
The atmosphere was tumultuous, the sound of the concrete around them crumbling accompanied by an occasional hiss of web shooting from Yuji’s suit. He moved with a choppy sort of grace, bouncing across alleys and buildings alike.
“I’m sure you could do better than that,” he teased, faux cockiness thick in his tone. A tense, tightly strung determination bled through his tone, too intense to be concealed by thickly coated boyish charm. He lingered on the wall of one building just for the sake of mocking his foe, head tilted to the side almost as if he was genuinely interested.
He quickly flung himself away, just barely missing the swinging, mechanical arm aimed at him.
“Ah ah, keep up!” he quipped, though his voice rose with a small yelp as he finished his sentence. It was clear his opponent only got further angered with every tease, wails of rage growing louder with every swing. Spiderman smiled bashfully, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Hah… guess I shouldn’t get too cocky…”
His opponent was some big guy, clad in countless layers of precocious technology that reflected the suns light like a mirror. What he assumed was his chest beneath all that metal was heaving, pants leaving his mouth. Suppose tech can’t compete with physical stamina, at least not in this scenario.
“You’ll regret this, spiderman!” he roared, voice scratchy, like he hadn’t used it in ages. “Surrender now, or I’ll have to do something I don’t want to. Don’t– don’t make it difficult.” His words got darker with every proceeding syllable, almost enough to make Yuji nervous. He was used to these threats, and they were empty more often than not.
“Yeahhh…” he drawled, unconvinced. But there was something in him that twisted his gut—not his spider-sense, but something… different. Something in his heart told him to worry.
Shaking his head, he made another advance in the direction of the enemy. He hadn’t bothered to remember his name, he’d never been a problem until now.
Swerving his hit, the big man continued. “I’ve been studying you, spiderman-“ he cut himself off with a groan, his incessant speech resulting in an impact meeting his side.
He grinned, malicious and knowing. As if he knew this was a game of cat and mouse, and he had him trapped like a rat. Something about it made Yuji hesitate, made that unfamiliar feeling in his heart throb. Yuji opened his mouth to retort, to at least attempt some sort of return that suited his sarcastic, spiderman fashion, but he was cut off.
“Or rather, I’ve been studying Yuji Itadori.”
He felt himself go immobile, felt his body freeze like an icicle in the midst of winter. His blood felt equally as cold, as if one move would make him shatter. People studied spiderman all of the time. There were news articles and personal reports and attempts at interviews—everyone knew everything about spiderman, except for his identity. At least, they did.
In that split second, Yuji had a terrible epiphany. With Yuji Itadori came Y/n L/n, always. A plethora of your shared moments flashed through his mind. Walking you to class, late night trips to the convenience store, all of the places around you that there’d been someone lurking. Someone just waiting for the right moment, gauging his behaviour and every aspect of his life, no doubt including the way he looked at you. Yuji might’ve seemed dense, but he was perfectly aware of how clear his love for you was. He loved everything, he loved the way the sun casted over the city and the way people lit up when he smiled at them on the street. He loved you most.
The figure looming over him smiled sickly, Yuji’s reaction telling him all he needed to know. As he began circling Yuji like a predator ready to pounce, he couldn’t stop him. All he could do was feel the pounding of his heart in his chest and wondering if yours was still able to do the same.
“So I was thinking…” the man began, trailing off for the sake of suspense no doubt. “What’s a better power to have over someone than love?”
The sinister words swirled in his ears like an echo. His mouth felt dry, the rest of the world fading to TV static as he tried to glance around for any sign of you, but his gaze was far too frantic to make out the shape of the person in front of him let alone you.
With a devilish snigger, you were revealed. Simply based off of the widened state of your eyes and the way you writhed in the rope you were restricted by, it was fairly clear this was news to you. Had your mouth not been taped, he was sure you’d have plenty to say. As his eyes locked with yours, the world slowed to a halt around you. Your gazes spoke louder than any words, louder than any scream into the dead of night. It spoke of love and fear all the same.
“Stop,” was all he could croak out. “Stop!” he shouted, louder this time as his gaze turned.
“Mm.. so I was correct, then?” said the near cyborg beast beside you.
Yuji’s gaze flickered to you, just for a split second. He contemplated lying, but he just… couldn’t. The words felt bitter and out of place on his tongue, even before they were spoken. So he chose bravery, in every sense of the word, and kept with his offence.
“Maybe, that’s none of your business,” he grunted, words emphasized with a hit to the man’s gnarly face. Yuji had a new sense of determination, the animalistic instinct to protect you. He’d already lost so many, lost his parents and his brother and the sense of humanity he grasped on to like the thread he hung by. He wouldn’t lose you.
All you could do was watch. You could only sit there like the helpless bystander you loathed to be, staring in horror as who might’ve been the love of your life was pummelled into the ground. It was like a twisted pattern of pain and the red of his blood darkening his suit. With every hit he landed he received tenfold, but somehow he always got back up. That was Yuji for you.
As the fight continued, you couldn’t help but begin to notice the obvious similarities between the vigilante and your own best friend. You felt utterly idiotic. Why else would he care so much, who else would you have shared those conversations with? Why else would Yuji look at you just a little different every time you met with spiderman? It all made sense. All of the “I’m sure your best friend is lucky to have you”’s and the explanations to Yuji’s actions that seemed just a bit too personal. Now you knew why, and you couldn’t even respond to the information, imprisoned by the tape over your mouth and the weight of your obliviousness as the sound of fist against face rang through the streets.
A weak, muffled cry fell from your lips as he was knocked to the ground.
Everything was going in slow motion. The robotic arm raised, hovering over Yuji like a sledgehammer just waiting to pound down. But then there was a metallic whine, and a halt. Panic washed over the man’s face as he froze—well, the metal parts of him froze, and those were the only parts that amounted to much.
He sputter and panicked, watching as the countless officers surrounding the area became aware of his suspended movement. It was over, just like that? He seemed just as surprised as you were, and as your eyes met, you were shocked to feel anything in common with him.
When you were freed of the twine that had been keeping you in place, you wasted no time in rushing to Yuji. The red and blue of the lights surrounding you blanketed him, making him appear as nothing but a puddle in the street. He looked completely melted—limp, and for a moment you thought he might not live to hear what you had to say.
You pulled his mask up over his face, disregarding the people around you and their wandering eyes. His face was battered and bruised, but undeniably still his, still alive. You felt your shoulders deflate as his throat bobbed, the small, otherwise unimportant motion doing numbers to ease your nerves. He was still here. You could still learn to love spiderman as you did Yuji, you’d still get the chance to feel their hearts beat as one.
His eyes fluttered open, vision bleary from the flashing lights and his lack of consciousness. “Y/n?” he muttered, voice nearly inaudible. It was the first thought in his mind when he woke, even before the fuzzy outline of your face came into view. His eyes flickered brighter when they saw you. He knew that face anywhere. “Y/n,” he breathed, softer this time.
“Yuji-“
“I’m sorry for not telling you,” he mumbled quickly. His hands reached for yours, the shaky, bruised skin wrapping itself in yours. It stung, but the feeling of your fingers intertwined with his was enough to soothe the ache. He was convinced that if you were to kiss every injured part of him, his bones would straighten themselves out for the sole purpose of holding you, because broken arms can not cradle. Snapped fingers cannot run through your hair, so if he were broken, he would repair himself as long as it meant loving you. No amount of bloodshed would keep him away, he would return to you in the winds if he had to.
You chuckled lightly despite the distress of the moment. “For not telling me what? That you’re spiderman or that you’re in love with me?”
He grinned tiredly, canines peeking out brightly, white against the pink of his lips. “Both.”
— ⋮ ᰔ
The sound of knuckles against your window was dull and hollow, but not unexpected. It did little to startle you, barely bothering to look up from your textbook as you hunched over your desk.
“It’s open!” you called over your shoulder, followed by the creak of the glass sliding open. The sound of Yuji’s feet meeting the ground pulled you from your school immersed daze, office chair swivelling around to face him.
“You know, leaving your window open at night is dangerous,” he said, half joking. His mask was already pulled from his face, messy pink hair matted and messy on his head. He was making quick work to pull off the rest of his suit as he spoke, hopping around on one foot as he tried to pry it from his skin.
You responded with an underlaugh, “I’m on the fourth floor. Nobody except spiderman is sliding open my window at eleven at night on a Tuesday.”
“Well-“ he cut himself off by knocking into your bedframe. He glanced back to you, cheeks warming in the slightest as he tried to balance himself and remain authoritative. “Well, they might!” he exclaimed. His eyes narrowed, but you didn’t find any sense of irritation in them. Within his shining brown irises was concern, the lingering anxiety that came with the events not long before. Yuji had been on edge ever since, constantly glancing around corners and panicking when you were out of sight for even a moment. In the corners of his vision lingered the sight of you helpless, burned into his mind like a tattoo he never wanted.
He tossed the red article somewhere on your floor, disregarding it entirely. He stood above you, arms crossed and trying to look annoyed, but resulting in a different, much cuter pout. He was many things that he wouldn’t admit. Tired—very much so—from spending his day trying restlessly to save lives, scared, and craving the tenderness in your touch that he never received with the mask over his face. When you locked gazes, holding it felt particularly hard for him tonight, because he knew you could see right through him. He felt bare, and not just because you were looking at his real face.
You sighed softly, standing up from the chair. You guess your studying could wait another night, because you knew Yuji couldn’t. Your chest throbbed with the thought of the danger he came face to face with constantly, the responsibility he carried on his back through every waking moment. The weight was heavy, and it was exhausting.
Placing a chaste, fleeting kiss on his cheek, you tugged him over to the bed. His hand was soft in yours, a contrast to the callouses and scrapes adorning the skin there.
“Come lie down,” you mumbled.
He glanced between you and the desk you previously occupied, brows knitting together. “Weren’t you busy?”
“I’m not anymore. Just come rest with me, please.” You shook your head, earnestly reflecting in your eyes.
He hesitated, opening his mouth to speak. “You don’t have to…” he began, but he stopped himself. He really, really did want to rest. He wanted to listen to your heart beat against your chest and have your breath fan over his skin, he wanted to curl into your embrace and be reminded that in this cruel world was a place of love. He knew that deep down, his heart resided with you, and he never felt it truly thump until he was in your arms. “…okay.”
So he crawled into bed with you, tired and almost clingy in his actions. His body slotted against yours like the missing piece of a puzzle, his arms slithering around your waist and face nuzzling into the crook of your neck like it was always meant to be there. He let his ear press against your shirt and hear the life beneath your skin, letting out a breath and physically melting into your arms. He looked so much more gentle like this. He wasn’t the sarcastic or silly figure the world knew spiderman to be, he was just a boy that wanted to help. He was just a kid like you who needed to know that there were things left to cherish.
Some would say you had two lovers. One a courageous figure in the night, the other a warm hearted, pink haired student barely making it into college. But you knew that spiderman was nothing but the parts of Yuji that had always lived within, and the bits that defined him most.
That night you traced every line and freckle on his face, committing it to memory because now there was no suit between you. You admired him as he slept, relishing in the tranquility of it all. It was just you and Yuji, flesh and love and transparency all in one.
From then onwards, Yuji fought his battles with just a bit more hope, because he knew you’d be waiting for him by the window when he won.
I MISSED writing for Yuji ugghhhhhhhhhh. If I wrote a part 2 of a strangers heart would yall fw that or nah (wouldn’t be for a while tho). I cannot write action at all im so sorry 😭 also cba to give big scary villain a name so it got repetitive

[THREE] — The music box
☆ `` SPECTRAL SCAMMERS ``
☆ — summary: when cartman comes up with yet another 'get rich quick' scheme, he forces his friends, and you, into starting a ghost hunting service. armed with a mix of makeshift equipment, a questionable van and no actual skills, you begin taking jobs to "exorcise" haunted houses.
warnings: strong language, violence, horror elements, cartman being cartman.
(a/n): this chapter is sooo long and it took me DAYS to write it!! >_< (I genuinely didn't sleep at all and just wrote this without stopping, hours without breaks xx) -- this is by far the longest fic/chapter that I've ever wrote... I can't believe it's over 11k words!! I apologize for any grammar mistakes, you can point them out nicely and I'll fix them!! I also apologize for how this chapter seems kinda bland ^.^ -- for some reason, i feel like there wasn't enough romantic tension and stuff... and Tweek's interactions with the reader were so awkward I just don't know how to write for him (╥﹏╥)

Lunch was rarely quiet, but today's chaos reached a new level as Cartman slammed his backpack onto the cafeteria table with a grin.
"You guys aren't going to believe this." He started, practically shaking in excitement.
"Is it another terrible idea?" Kyle asked, barely looking up from his lunch.
"It's not a terrible idea." Cartman snapped, puffing out his chest. "It's a brilliant idea. A $200 idea, to be exact."
"Here we go..." Stan muttered, leaning back in his seat.
Cartman ignored the groans and unsure looks as he whipped out his phone like a trophy. "I just landed us a gig at the old DeLacroix mansion. They're paying us $200 to 'investigate paranormal activity'."
You all froze for a moment, processing his words.
"Two hundred bucks?" Kenny asked, his eyes lighting up. "That's like... A month's worth of pop tats!"
"Wait, wait, wait..." You interrupted them, raising an eyebrow. "Who in their right mind would pay us twenty hundred dollars to investigate anything? We're not exactly professionals."
"That's where my genius comes in. I told them we're licensed professionals." Cartman smirked.
"Licensed by who? The South Park Department of Bullshit?" Craig asked jokingly.
"Licensed by me, obviously." Cartman shot back.
Kyle pinched the bridge of his nose. "So let me get this straight... You lied to some poor people and convinced them to pay $200 to mess and play around their houses pretending to hunt ghosts?"
"Exactly!" Cartman answered proudly. "And you're welcome."
"Dude, this is going to blow up in our faces." Stan said as he shook his head. "We don't know the first thing about ghost hunting."
"We don't need to." Cartman replied, waving him off. "Ghosts aren't even real. We just have to scare the homeowners enough for them to think that we actually did something."
"That's... Moraly questionable." You mumbled, eyeing him up and down.
"Oh, please, [Y/N], like you've never fucked with the truth to make a quick buck." Cartman rolled his eyes.
"I-I don't know about this..." Tweek, seated beside you, shifted uncomfortably. "What if the house is actually haunted?"
"Ghosts aren't real, Tweek." Craig replied flatly as he rested his arms on the lunch table.
"They're not real until they are..." Tweek mumbled, fidgeting with his fingers.
"Okay can we focus on the important part?" Clyde interrupted. "Two hundred dollars is a lot of money. I say we go for it."
"Yeah." Kenny agreed, nodding excitedly. "We could use the cash to upgrade our equipment or something." He muttered hesitantly, a bit heart broken that, most probably, that's what Cartman would want to do with the money.
"What equipment?" Stan asked, raising and eyebrow.
"We'll figure that out later!" Cartman said as he slammed his hands on the table. "All we have to do is show up, act professional and maybe sprinkle some flour to make it look like ghost footprints. Easy money!"
"This is such a bad idea." Kyle groaned.
"Bad idea or not, you're in." Cartman shot back smugly. "Everyone's in."
"I didn't agree to anything." Craig cut in.
"I don't care what you think, Craig." Cartman snapped. "You're coming. And you're driving the van."
Craig flipped him off with the same bored expression on his face.
"What van?" You asked, narrowing your eyes.
"Oh, I've got that covered. Just wait." Cartman's grin widened.
...
As the rest of the group continued to bicker, you couldn't help but notice Tweek fidgeting beside you. His hands toyed with the hem of his shirt, his leg bouncing under the table.
"You okay?" You asked softly, leaning closer to him.
He jumped slightly at the sound of your voice but nodded quickly. "Y-Yeah, just... You know, Cartman's plans never end well."
"That's fair." You mumbled, sighing before quickly giving him a small smile. "But hey, at least this one doesn't involve creating an alien beacon that sends signals out, which ends up getting us abducted by aliens and then arrested by the police." You recalled, reminding Tweek of the horrific incident that happened... Not long ago.
The corners of Tweek's lips tugged upwards, forming a shy smile, his eyes briefly meeting yours. "Yeah, I guess. Still, it's a haunted mansion... That's horror movie territory..."
"You're not scared, are you?" You teased lightly.
"N-No! Of course not!" His face turned a faint shade of pink.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you if anything jumps out." You assured him, smirking as you noticed his cheeks growing redder.
‘ He was so cute when he blushed! You could barely contain yourself from kissing him! ’
He laughed nervously, feeling heat rise to his cheeks. "T-Thanks..."
Across the table, Clyde wiggled his eyebrows at the two of you. "Aw, look at that! Lovebirds bonding over ghost hunting!"
"Shut up, Clyde." Your smirk faded as you threw your empty carton of milk at him.
"You're just jealous." Cartman cut in smugly. "Not everyone gets to bask in my genius and charm like [Y/N] does."
"Yeah, that's exactly it." You muttered dryly, fighting the urge to roll your eyes.
...
After much debate and several insults exchanged between Cartman and Kyle, you all hesitantly agreed to the plan.
"Fine!" Stan snapped, throwing his hands up in the air. "We'll do it, but if this goes wrong, I'm blaming you, Cartman."
"Blame me all you want!" Cartman shot back as he smirked. "I'll be too busy counting my $200 to care."
"What do you mean 'my' $200?" Craig asked, his monotone voice cutting through the noise. "Pretty sure we're splitting it evenly."
"Yeah!" You agreed, nodding. "We're all risking our dignity here, so we all get a fair share."
Cartman huffed but didn't argue further. "Whatever. The point is, we've got a job. We're gonna kick some ghost ass!"
.
.
.
.
You all gathered in the school parking lot after the last bell, backpacks thrown over shoulders and various pieces of 'ghost equipment' in a row. Cartman stood in front of a suspiciously beat up white van, grinning ear to ear as if he was about to ask you if you wanted some candy.
"What the hell is that?" Kyle asked, staring at the van with wide eyes as if it would come to life and swallow him whole.
"Our ride." Cartman answered proudly, slapping the side of the van. "Rented it with my mom's credit card!"
"Your mom let you use her credit card?" Stan raised a brow.
"She doesn't know yet." Cartman admitted with a shrug. "But she will when I 'accidentally' leave the receipt on the counter. By then, it'll be too late."
"Classic." Craig muttered, fighting the urge to roll his eyes.
"Dude, we're not getting in that thing." You said, eyeing the van doubtfully. "It looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the 90s. What's with the stain on the side?"
"Ghost residue." Cartman answered without missing a beat.
"Pretty sure that's bird crap." Clyde pointed out as he leaned closer.
"Shut up!" Cartman snapped. "Do you losers want to walk all the way to the DeLacroix mansion? No? Then get in."
"This is so stupid..." Stan sighed.
"Not as stupid as your haircut." Cartman shot back.
"Let's just get this over with." Kenny interrupted as he threw his backpack in the back. "I wanna see if we can actually pull this off."
The rest of you hesitated but eventually climbed into the van one by one. The inside was even worse, barely breathable air, carrying the smell of sweat, and seats covered in mysterious stains that no one wanted to identify.
"It smells like ass." Clyde stuck out his tongue, pinching his nose.
"This is disgusting." You mumbled as you took a seat near the back.
"Disgusting but functional." Cartman replied as he dropped into the driver's seat.
"You're not seriously the one driving, are you?" Kyle asked, eyeing Cartman up and down.
"Uh, yeah, who else is going to drive?"
"Literally anyone else." Craig cut in, raising his hand.
Cartman ignored him as he turned the key, starting the engine, which, by the way, sounded like it would break down any moment.
"Didn't you say Craig was gonna drive?" Clyde, who was seated in the passenger's seat, asked hesitantly.
"Nope. Don't remember ever saying that." Cartman replied, barely moving the van an inch.
.
.
You ended up next to Tweek, who was already fidgeting with the strap of his bag. His eyes scanned the van like he expected a ghost to pop up from the shadows.
"You good?" You asked, leaning slightly toward him.
"Y-Yeah." He nodded quickly, though his jumpy movements suggested otherwise.
"Well at least the van hasn't exploded yet. That's a good sign, right?" You gave him a small smile.
"I guess. But this thing smells like a gym locker." He chuckled, his shoulder relaxing a bit.
"You're not wrong..." You nodded, trying to hold your breath. "Let's just hope the drive isn't too long."
From the front, Cartman banged his fist on the steering wheel. "Can you idiots shut up for five seconds?! I'm trying to focus!"
"You're trying to focus on driving two miles an hour?" Kyle shot back.
"It's called being cautious you fucking bitch!" Cartman defended himself.
"It's called being a terrible driver." Craig muttered, earning a snicker from Kenny.
"Why don't you go flip off a tree or something?" Cartman snapped, glaring at him through the rearview mirror.
Craig responded by slowly raising his middle finger.
.
.
As the van crept out of town and onto the road leading to the DeLacroix mansion, the air began to shift. The sun was slowly lowering on the sky, causing long shadows across the pavement. Trees lined both sides of the road, their branches twisting up in the orange sky as they gently swayed in the wind.
"This road is creepy as hell." Kenny pointed out, gazing out the window.
"Perfect setting for a haunted mansion." Clyde added, his voice touched with nervous excitement.
"Or for us to get murdered." You muttered, making Tweek's grip on his thighs tighten.
"Relax! Nothing's going to happen. Ghosts aren't real, remember?" Cartman replied, though his hold on the steering wheel tightened.
"That's not what you said when you were charging $200." Stan pointed out.
"That's called marketing." Cartman shot back smugly. "You wouldn't understand."
The road hit a bump, making everyone jump out of their places.
"Careful, fatass!" Kyle shouted, grabbing onto Kenny who was beside him, holding onto his shoulder to secure himself in his seat.
"Don't like my walking? Get out and walk you fucking asshole!" Cartman snapped, turning around to glare at you all.
‘ Of course that idiot wasn't wearing a seatbelt... ’
"No one's walking." You spoke up, cutting off the argument before it could escalate. "Let's just focus on getting there in one piece."
Tweek shifted uncomfortably beside you, his knee bouncing nervously. You reached out and gave his arm a light tap, grabbing his attention.
"Hey, we'll be fine." You assured, keeping your tone casual. "Worst case scenario, we get there, find out it's just some creaky floorboards and call it a day."
He nodded slowly, the corners of his lips tugging upwards and forming a shy smile. "Yeah... Yeah, you're probably right."
"Of course I'm right, I'm always right." You smirked, and Tweek was sure you could hear his heartbeat.
"Aw, look at that!" Clyde teased from the front of the van, smirking as he was turned to fully look at you.
‘ Another idiot who didn't wear seatbelts... ’
"Tweek's got a little bodyguard!"
"Keep talking like that and I won't hesitate throwing you out the van." You warned him, your smirk fading away.
"Try it. I'll land on my feet."
"Can we stop fucking flirting and focus?" Cartman snapped, glaring at everyone in the rearview mirror. "We've got a job to do, assholes!"
"You're the only asshole here..." You muttered quietly.
"Maybe that's why it smells like ass." Craig added, earning a snicker from Stan.
.
.
.
.
The van shook along the lonely and bumpy road, the engine groaning with every turn of the wheels. The sun was slowly setting in, the once orange and pink sky darkening.
"Hey, uh... This thing is making weird noise." Stan pointed out.
"That's just the sound of your whining." Cartman shot back, his tone sarcastic.
"No, seriously." You spoke up, trying to glance at Cartman in the rearview mirror. "It's been getting louder for the last mile. Do you even know how to drive this thing?"
"Of course I know how to drive!" Cartman shouted, puffing out his chest. "I'm a naturally born leader. Driving's part of the package, asshole!"
"Leader of what? The loser unit?" Craig snorted.
Before Cartman could fire back and insult him, the van gave a violent shake. Everyone lunged forward as it came to an abrupt stop. The engine faltering as it made loud, roaring sounds before going completely silent.
"You've got to be kidding me." Kyle groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"What happened?" Kenny asked as he looked around.
Cartman angrily twisted the key, but the engine only made clicking noises in response. "What the hell?!"
"I think your piece of crap van just died." Clyde pointed the obvious, earning a glare from Cartman.
"Shut up, you don't know anything about cars dumbass!" He yelled, practically shaking aggressively in his seat.
"And you do?" Stan raised an eyebrow, only making Cartman's face grow a darker shade of red from frustration.
"I know more than you!" Cartman shouted, slapping the steering wheel.
...
As you all piled out of the van, the reality of your situation started to sink in. The road stretched endlessly in both directions, and to add to the creepiness, the crickets started chirping as the sun lowered.
"This is bad..." Tweek muttered, clutching his bag tightly. "This is really bad..."
"It's fine." You assured him quickly, although your voice was a bit too loud to be entirely convincing. "We'll just figure it out, no big deal."
"No big deal?! We're stranded in the middle of nowhere! What if something's out there?!" Tweek glanced at you, eyes wide as his whole body trembled.
"There's nothing out there." You placed your hand on his shoulder, causing him to flinch. Your gaze flickered nervously toward the dark trees. "Probably just squirrels or something..."
"Squirrels don't make weird noises at night..." He muttered, his voice shaky as he struggled to keep still.
Craig, standing a few feet away, sighed as he interrupted. "Relax. The only dangerous thing out here is Cartman's driving."
"Hey, screw you asshole!" Cartman barked loudly.
Ignoring him, your hand that was on Tweek's shoulder slowly trailed down to his arm, holding it, trying to steady him. "Look, we'll figure it out, okay? We're not gonna be stuck here forever."
"A-Alright... If you say so." Tweek nodded hesitantly, his breathing slowing a little.
For a moment, you felt pride knowing you managed to calm him down a bit. But then the stillness of the road, the sinister silence, the darkening sky... It was starting to creep you out. Before you knew it, the panic you've kept holding in all this time came rushing in.
"What if we are stuck here?" You blurted out quietly, the words coming out of your mouth before you could stop yourself. "What if no one finds us? What if-"
You felt a hand on your shoulder, the gentle gesture catching you off guard. You almost screamed, but you turned around before you did. You found Craig standing beside you, his usual bored expression replaced with a softer one.
"It's alright." He said simply, his voice low and steady.
You blinked at him, caught off guard.
"You're freaking yourself out." He added, his monotone voice oddly comforting. "It's not helping."
"I know that." You muttered, feeling slightly embarrassed.
"Then calm down. We'll figure it out." He shrugged.
Despite his bluntness, his words seemed to make your heart race. You took a deep breath.
.
.
Cartman was pacing back and forth beside the van, muttering under his breath. "This is a disaster! A complete disaster! My mom's gonna get upset!"
"You mean because you stole her credit card?" Kyle asked dryly.
"Shut up you Jew!" Cartman snapped.
Stan kneeled down to check under the van, using one of Cartman's almost out of battery flashlights to light up the underside. "Looks like something's leaking." He pointed out, frowning.
"Oil?" Kenny asked, crouching beside him.
"Maybe. I'm not a mechanic."
"Well does anyone know how to fix it?" Clyde questioned, looking around hopefully.
You all glanced at each other, standing in complete silence other than the chirping crickets.
"Nope." Craig answered bluntly.
"Great." Kyle muttered, running a hand down his face. "Just great."
...
With no immediate solution, you all settled into an uneasy silence. Cartman sulked by the driver's door, muttering about how unfair the universe was. Stan and Kyle debated whether they should try to call for help, although they doubted anyone would come this far out. Tweek leaned on a rock near the edge of the road, his knee bouncing nervously.
You sat down beside him, staring at the van and the rest of the group, who were arguing like crazy. You still felt a little nervous, despite Craig's attempt at calming you down earlier. "How you holding up?" You asked.
"Better." Tweek admitted, though his voice was still shaky. "But this sucks."
"Yeah... It really does." You agreed.
For a moment, the two of you just sat there, watching the sky change from orange and pink to a depressing gray. Despite your situation, there was something oddly peaceful about the quiet.
"Thanks for earlier." Tweek mumbled suddenly, his voice softer than usual.
"For what?" You glanced at him, surprised.
"For, you know... Helping me calm down." He rubbed the back of his neck, avoiding your gaze. "That was pretty nice of you..."
You felt your cheeks warm up, but you quickly brushed it off. "Well, you've got my back too, right?"
Tweek smiled, the corners of his mouth twisting up in a way that made your heart skip a beat. "Yeah. Always."
.
.
You all gathered around the front of the van, flashlights in hand. The hood was popped open, revealing the engine that looked like it hasn't been properly maintained in decades.
Stan squinted at the mess, raising an eyebrow. "Okay, so... What exactly are we looking at here?"
"An engine." Craig replied, arms crossed.
"Yeah, thanks, genius." Kyle muttered, rolling his eyes. He leaned closer, frowning at the faint puddle forming beneath the van. "Something's definitely leaking."
"Maybe it's ghost juice." Cartman suggested, snickering at his own joke.
"No one asked you." Kyle snapped, shining his flashlight on the engine.
You sighed, leaning against the side of the van. "So... Does anyone actually know what they're doing?"
Everyone exchanged awkward glances, shrugging at each other.
"Not a clue." Clyde admitted.
"Fantastic." You muttered, your palm coming in contact with your forehead.
"I've seen my dad fix stuff like this before." Stan spoke up, though his tone wasn't exactly confident. "But we need tools."
"Tools?!" Cartman exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air. "What do you think this is, a Home Depot?! Where are we supposed to get tools in the middle of nowhere?!"
...
"So, what's the plan?" Clyde asked, leaning against the van.
"Plan?" Cartman scoffed. "The plan is you idiots fix the van while I supervise."
"Yeah, that's not happening." Kyle dismissed flatly.
"Wait..." Tweek spoke up, his voice slightly hesitant. "Does anyone have duct tape?"
You turned to him, furrowing your brows together. "What for?"
"Well..." He started, shifting nervously under everyone's gaze. "If it's just a leak, maybe we can patch it up enough to get moving again?"
"That... Actually might work." Stan nodded slowly.
"Great idea!" You praised, smiling at him.
Tweek blinked, his face turning a faint shade of pink. "Uh, thanks..."
"Fine. Who's got tape?" Cartman groaned.
...
After a bit of rummaging, you all managed to find duct tape in Kenny's backpack. You wouldn't dare ask why he had that on him, and it would be better if you didn't.
"This is ridiculous." Craig muttered, watching as Stan and Kyle debated the best way to 'fix' the leak.
"Do you have a better idea?" You asked, raising a brow.
"No. But this still feels stupid." He shrugged.
"Stupid or not, it's all we've got." Stan interrupted, crouching beside the van. "Alright, someone hand me the tape."
Kenny passed the roll as the rest of you watched Stan carefully tape over the leaking spot. "This should hold for a little while. Hopefully."
"Hopefully?!" Cartman exclaimed. "That's the best you've got?!"
"Unless you want to get under there and fix it yourself, yes." Stan shot back.
As Stan finished his makeshift repair, you leaned back against the van, glancing at Tweek. "I didn't expect you to figure out a solution."
"What do you mean?" Tweek tilted his head to the side, confused.
"I mean, that was a pretty great idea. You're full of surprises, huh?" You smiled, nodding towards the engine.
"I just... Didn't want to be stuck here all night." He replied nervously, rubbing the back of his neck as a smile tugged at his lips.
"Well, great job." You muttered.
Tweek chuckled, his usual nervousness temporarily forgotten. "Thanks."
"Alright!" Cartman shouted, clapping his hands. "Is this thing fixed or what?"
"Fixed enough." Stan replied, standing up and dusting off his hands. "But we should probably get moving before it gives out again."
"Great." Cartman said, already climbing into the driver's seat. "Get in, assholes!"
...
You all piled back in the van, the air still tense but slightly more hopeful. The engine came to life as the van moved forward, resuming its journey down the dark, lonely road.
"See? I told you we'd fix it." Cartman bragged, a smug grin on his face.
"You didn't do anything." Kyle pointed out.
"I supervised." Cartman shot back. "That's the most important part of any operation." His words earned a middle finger from Craig, which he of course, didn't ignore.
.
.
.
.
The van came to a stop just outside the towering DeLacroix mansion, and the sight alone was enough to make everyone fall silent. The place looked like it had been ripped straight out of a gothic horror movie. The iron gates creaked as they swung inward, revealing a front lawn with trimmed edges and a path of cobblestone leading to the massive double doors of the mansion. It looked and sounded like hell. No, seriously. The hinges of the gates screeched like tortured souls.
"Wow. They weren't kidding when they said they were loaded." Stan let out a low whistle.
Craig crossed his arms, unimpressed. "Looks like something out of a vampire movie. I'm expecting Dracula to pop up any second."
"This house is awesome!" Kenny beamed, his face lighting up. "It's like something out of those haunted mansion tours!"
"Yeah, well, it's probably just a glorified dust trap." Kyle shoved his hands in his pockets. "Rich people are weird..."
Cartman turned to glare at Kyle, pointing his thumb toward the mansion. "Rich people are our clients you fucking asshole! Now shut the fuck up and try not to embarrass me."
"Embarrass you?" Kyle snorted. "That's rich coming from the guy who got us abducted by aliens yet they still sent us back to Earth because of you."
"Okay now you're pushing it!" Cartman interrupted. "Face it, you're embarrassing all of us."
"Fuck you, fatass!"
Cartman ignored him, puffing out his chest and leading the group up the cobblestone path as if he was the CEO of some multimillion dollar ghost hunting operation.
Before anyone could knock, the heavy front doors creaked open as an elderly woman stepped out onto the grand porch. She was dressed elegantly in a deep emerald gown, her pearl necklace glinting in the fading sunlight. Her husband followed close behind. His tailored suit looked expensive, and his sharp features carried the kind of sterness that could make anyone feel like a misbehaving child.
The woman's eyes scanned you all, her expression both relieved and suspicious. "Oh, thank goodness you're here!" She exclaimed, her voice trembling as she hurried down the steps. "You have no idea how much time we have been waiting for a certain individual to assist us!"
The old man, however, was less excited. He frowned, scanning the group. "You're the ghost hunters?" He asked, his tone doubtful as he eyed you all. "You all look... Very young."
"Thanks, I moisturize." Craig spoke up.
Cartman stepped forward, giving Craig a glare before plastering a fake smile onto his face. "Youthfulness is what makes us the best in business." He replied, his tone was supposed to sound professional, but came off more like a used car salesman.
The old man remained unconvinced, his eyes narrowing as if he were searching for a hidden adult supervisor. "Are you even qualified for this?"
"Qualified?" Cartman repeated, placing a hand on his chest as if he was personally offended. "Sir, we're professionals. We've been in the business for years! Licensed, insured, you name it!"
"Insured against what? Getting caught in your lies?" Kyle muttered under his breath.
Cartman shot him a warning glare before turning back to the couple. "Now, why don't you tell us exactly what's going on, and we're gonna take care of it faster than you can say 'check, please'!"
The woman squeezed her own hands, glancing nervously at her husband before speaking. "It's been terrible. Absolutely terrible. Every night, we hear whispers in the halls. Sometimes it's a woman singing... So soft and yet so haunting... It feels like it's coming from nowhere and everywhere at once."
"And the doors." The old man added, adjusting his tie. "They slam shut on their own. Sometimes in the middle of the night, sometimes when we're standing right there. It's like we're not welcome in our own home."
"Maybe it's just bad hinges or the wind?" Keny tilted his head to the side.
The woman shot him a sharp look. "Does the wind whisper your name?"
"Depends on how much I've had to drink." Kenny muttered, earning a snicker from Craig.
The man's frown deepened. "This isn't a joke. Whatever is in that house... It isn't natural. And it's just getting worse."
"Don't worry, sir, ma'am." Cartman stepped forward with false confidence. "You called the right team. We've handled cases way scarier than this."
"Name one." Kyle challenged, crossing his arms.
Cartman ignored him, turning his attention back to the couple. "Now, let's talk about payment. We'll need half upfront for, uh, operational costs."
The woman's brows furrowed together. "Operational costs?"
"Yeah." Cartman replied smoothly. "You know, equipment, transportation, ghost insurance..."
"Ghost insurance?" The old man repeated, raising one of his bushy eyebrows.
"It's standard practice." Cartman said, waving off their confusion. "Ghost hunting is dangerous work. There's always a risk of possession, attacks, or ectoplasmic goo. We can't exactly do this for free, can we?"
"Oh my God Cartman, stop scamming people." Stan groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Scamming people?" Cartman repeated, acting offended. Technically, he was. "This is a legitimate business transaction. Now, if you're done interrupting, let the professionals handle this."
The woman sighed, clearly too exhausted to argue. She reached into her purse, pulling out a checkbook. "Fine. You'll get $100 now and the rest when the job is done."
"Pleasure doing business with you." Cartman smirked, snatching the check before anyone else could.
The man gestured toward the house, his expression grumpy. "Do whatever you need to. Just get rid of it."
Cartman turned to the rest of you, clapping his hands together. "Alright assholes, you heard the man! Gear up and get to work!"
Craig rolled his eyes, fighting the urge to flip Cartman off. "I'm only doing this because I need the money."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Cartman waved him off. "Now let's get moving! Time is money!"
As you all started gathering your 'equipment', you exchanged a glance with Tweek, who was fidgeting nervously.
"Come on, I'm sure it's fine." You cut through the silence, making Tweek flinch.
"Y-Yeah, I'm sure it's alright... But this place gives me goosebumps..." He replied, his voice shaky as his eyes darted everywhere.
"We can use Cartman as a shield." You shrugged, looking over your shoulder to see Cartman shouting at everyone.
Tweek chuckled, his shoulder relaxing a bit. "I-If it's an actual ghost, I'm running back to the van and leaving without the rest of you."
"You're leaving me behind?" You raised your brows, gasping dramatically.
"I'll take you with me." Tweek shrugged, the corners of his lips tugging upwards and forming a shy smile.
You could feel your pulse quickening, but you chose to ignore the feeling and hurry up, since Cartman was already fuming.
...
The old woman held the door open as you all stumbled inside, the creak of the heavy wooden door echoing around the mansion. The interior of the DeLacroix mansion was just as massive as the exterior, if not more so. A huge chandelier hung from the high ceiling, its crystals catching the light from the several candles on numerous shelves. The walls were lined with dark wood, and a thick red rug stretched across the polished floor. Everything about the place screamed wealth, but there was something... Off about it.
You couldn't put your finger on it. Maybe it was the faint mouldy smell, or the way the shadows seemed to stretch a little too far.
"Well..." The old woman started, folding her hands in front of her. "We'll let you get to it. My husband and I will be in the kitchen if you need anything."
"Tea." The old man added, narrowing his eyes as they scanned over the group once more. "We'll be making tea. And don't think for a second we won't notice if something goes missing."
"Sir." Cartman started, putting a hand to his chest. "I'll have you know that we run a very professional operation. Stealing? That's beneath us."
"Uh-huh." The old man replied, his tone still doubtful as he ran his eyes across you all with a suspicious look. He turned to his wife. "Come on, let's leave them to it before I change my mind."
As the couple disappeared down the hall, Cartman turned back to you all, his fake professional demeanor dropping in an instant. "Alright, listen up fuckers. Rule number one, nobody wanders off alone. Got it?"
"What are we, five?" Craig raised an eyebrow.
"No!" Cartman snapped. "But you all have the attention span of toddlers, and I'm not gonna lose my $200 payday because one of you morons gets lost or spooked and runs screaming out the door."
"Oh, please. Nobody here actually believes in ghosts. Right?" Kyle crossed his arms.
"I don't know, dude. Places like these always have weird vibes." Kenny shrugged.
Tweek shivered, glancing around nervously. "I mean... It's just a house, right? A really big, creepy, probably haunted house, but still... Just a house."
"Exactly." You cut in, offering him a reassuring look. "There's nothing to be scared of."
Before anyone could respond, a loud SLAM echoed through the mansion. The sound came from the second floor, sharp and intentional, like someone had thrown a door shut with all their strength.
Everyone froze, exchanging uneasy glances.
"Uh... What was that?" Stan asked, his voice low.
Cartman let out a nervous laugh. "Probably the wind. Or, you know, old houses make weird noises all the time!"
"Yeah, sure." Kyle muttered. "Because the wind totally sounds like a fucking door being slammed shut."
"Great plan, genius." Craig interrupted, looking at Cartman. "Let's all just split up already and investigate the creepy murder mansion."
"We're not splitting up!" Cartman snapped. "Were you not listening five seconds ago? We stick together and do this room by room. Now shut up and follow my lead."
"Your lead?" Kyle scoffed. "Oh, this is gonna be good."
"Would you just shut your damn Jew mouth and grab your flashlight?" Cartman shot back, ready stomping toward the huge staircase.
As the rest of you followed, the harsh silence of the mansion seemed to press in from all sides. The only sounds were the creak of the floorboard beneath your feet and the occasional drip of water from God knows where.
You glanced at Tweek, who was clutching his flashlight as if his life depended on it. "You look scared. Are you okay?"
"Yeah!" He replied, his voice toi high pitched to be convincing. "Totally fine. Just, uh... Keeping an eye out for... Y-You know, ghost stuff..."
"You sound just like Cartman." You pointed out, which made Tweek shoot you a glare.
"Don't compare me to that fatass." He mumbled under his breath.
"Yeah, I probably shouldn't." You shrugged, continuing to step beside him.
Tweek's eyes darted around, examining the place. "That slam... It was definitely the wind..." His hands trembled as his grip tightened on his flashlight.
You couldn't help but smile at his attempt to convince himself. "Right. The wind. Because the wind definitely has the power to slam a door with enough force to rattle the whole house."
Tweek groaned, running a hand through his hair and fighting the urge to pull on it. "Okay, fine, i-it was weird. But it's probably nothing. Probably..."
"Exactly." You agreed, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "No need to panic. Not yet, anyway."
As you reached the top of the stairs, Cartman stopped abruptly, causing everyone to nearly collide into each other.
"Alright." Cartman started, pointing toward the hallway ahead. "Here's the plan, we check each room, starting from the left, and work our way down. Got it?"
"Who died and made you boss?" Stan muttered.
"My superior intellect did!" Cartman shot back. "Now shut up and start looking."
The first few rooms were uneventful. A guest bedroom with dusty furniture, a study filled with old books and strange ornaments and a bathroom with a cracked mirror. Everything looked like it hadn't been touched in years, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
"See?" Kyle said as he gestured to the very normal surroundings. "Nothing spooky. Just a big, creepy old house."
"Yeah, because ghosts totally introduce themselves on the first time." Kenny teased.
As you passed what appeared to be another bedroom, something on the nightstand caught your eye. It was a small, golden music box. You almost entered the room, sitting right by the door. You wanted to reach out and touch it, but before you could even fully step inside, Cartman's voice cut through.
"Don't touch anything!" He barked, making you jump.
"What? Why not?" You questioned, turning to glare at him, stepping away from the door.
"Because." He started, puffing out his chest. "This is a delicate operation. We can't have you breaking stuff and getting us kicked out before we get paid."
"Or..." Craig interrupted. "Maybe he's just scared you'll unleash a ghost or something."
"Shut up, crooked teeth!" Cartman shot him a dirty look.
"I had braces you fucking fatass." Craig shouted, yet somehow his voice was still monotone.
"Well maybe you should consider getting them again!"
Before anyone could argue further, another door slammed somewhere in the house, but this time it was much closer.
"Okay, that's it!" Tweek spoke up, his voice shaking. "I don't care i-if it's the wind or a fucking ghost, I-I don't like this!"
"Relax." You replied, trying to sound calm even if your pulse quickened. "It's probably just... I don't know, the house settling or something."
"Sure." Kyle interrupted sarcastically. "Because houses totally 'settle' by slamming door randomly."
Cartman turned to the group, his face slightly pale but his voice firm. "Alright, new rule, nobody touches anything unless I say so. Got it?"
"Just lead us to the next boring room so we can get this over with." Craig rolled his eyes.
As Cartman reluctantly led the group out of the bedroom, you couldn't shake the feeling that something was watching you.
.
.
You all stood in the barely lit hallway of the second floor, the air heavy with the scent of old wood and dust. The mansion's silence was brutal, broken only by the faint creaks and groans of the house settling. Several doors lined the hall, their chipped paint adding to the unsettling vibe.
Cartman pointed to the nearest door, puffing out his chest like he was a drill sergeant. "Alright pussies, we're hitting this room next. Be ready for anything."
"Yeah, like the world's most haunted dust collection. Can we just get this over with?" Kyle sighed, crossing his arms.
"Don't be such a fucking buzz kill!" Cartman snapped. "This is serious business."
Before anyone could respond, a faint whispering sound drifted through the hallway.
"D-Do you guys h-hear that...?" Tweek asked, his voice barely above a whisper. His eyes darted around, his grip tightened on his flashlight.
"Stop messing around." Kyle glared at Cartman, his tome stern. "It's obviously you trying to scare everyone."
"Me?!" Cartman yelled out, clearly offended. "I'm not wasting my energy on scaring you losers. I've got $200 on the line here!"
The whispering grew louder, clearer nos, although the words were impossible to make out. It was like a dozen voices overlapping, murmuring in a language none of them recognized.
"Okay, who's doing that?" Stan asked, his voice shaky. He glanced over his shoulder, his flashlight beam darting across the empty hallway.
"It's not me." Kenny said as he stepped closer to the rest of you. "That's creepy as hell..."
"Very funny, Cartman." Kyle pinched the bridge of his nose, his voice sounding irritated. "You can cut it out now."
"For the last time, it's not me!" Cartman practically hissed.
The whispering came to a sudden stop, leaving a sinister silence in its place.
"See?" Craig broke the silence flatly, flipping Cartman off. "This is why I don't do this stupid ghost hunting crap. It's always the handsome guy who gets killed first in horror movies."
"Oh, please." Clyde interrupted, his voice slightly trembling. "If anyone's dying first, it's probably me. I'm the perfect victim for a true crime documentary."
"Shut up, Clyde!" Cartman shouted, but his voice sounded nervous.
Before anyone could laugh or argue, the overhead lights flickered once, twice, and then went out completely.
"Holy shit!" Tweek yelped, grabbing onto your arm.
"What the hell just happened?" Kyle asked, his voice tense.
The hallway was swallowed by darkness, the only source of light coming from the faint beam of your flashlights. Then came the sound of floorboards creaking, slow and careful, as if someone or something was walking toward you.
"Who's there?" Stan called out, his voice cracking.
No one answered, but the sound grew louder and closer. Then, soft singing began to echo through the hallway.
It was a woman's voice, melodic and haunting, the kind of sound that made your stomach drop and skin crawl. The song was low, the words incoherent but the tone sorrowful.
"Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God..." Tweek muttered under his breath, his nails digging into your arm.
You tried to say something reassuring, but the words stuck in your throat. Your flashlight beam darted around the hallway, revealing nothing but empty space.
"This... Isn't funny." Kenny spoke up, his usual tone replaced by genuine fear.
"Okay, everyone stay calm." Cartman said, trying to sound reassuring and professional but failing miserably. "It's just... It's probably just... Uh..."
"Yeah, fatass." Kyle snapped. "What's your brilliant explanation for this one?"
Before Cartman could answer, the singing stopped as suddenly as if had started, and the lights flickered back on.
You all stood frozen, your breaths coming out in short, shaky gasps.
"What the actual hell was that?" Stan asked, running a hand through his hair.
"I don't know." You admitted, voice barely above a whisper.
"I'll tell you what it was." Cartman straightened up, trying to regain his composure. "It was nothing. You guys are just freaking yourselves out for no reason."
"Nothing?" Kyle repeated, his eyes wide. "The lights went out, we heard footsteps and singing, and you're calling that nothing?"
"Yeah." Cartman nodded, crossing his arms. "Because ghosts aren't real. And even if they were, they're not screwing up my $200 payday. So, suck it up and get back to work!"
"Screw this." Craig cut in sharply, turning toward the stairs. "I'm out. I've seen enough movies to know where this is going, and I'm not sticking around to be ghost bait."
"Oh, great idea, Craig." Cartman scowled. "Run off and leave the rest of us to deal with it."
"You're acting like I care." Craig replied, flipping Cartman off again. "Have fun getting haunted."
"Wait for me!" Clyde rushed by Craig's side. "I am not dying in some cursed mansion. Do you know how many unsolved mystery podcasts start like this?"
"Come on, we can't just bail. We don't even know what's going on yet." You tried to convince them, voice shaky. If you were honest, you were only doing that so you could push them into whatever's chasing you, just to buy you time.
"Exactly!" Cartman pointed at you. "Finally, someone with some common sense!"
Tweek glanced at you, his voice barely above a whisper. "You really think we should stay?"
You hesitated for a moment before nodding, even if you weren't entirely sure yourself.
‘ They can probably run faster than you... At least there's Cartman. ’
"We've come this far. We might as well see it through." You shrugged, hoping they'd listen.
Stan sighed, his eyes narrowing. "Fine. But if another light goes out, I'm seriously done."
Kyle gave you a long look, his expression unreadable. "You sure about this?"
No, you weren't sure. Not at all. But you forced yourself to nod. "Yeah. Let's keep going."
Cartman clapped his hands together, a fake grin plastered on his face. "See? Teamwork makes the dream work! Now let's move it assholes!"
As you all reluctantly followed Cartman further down the hallway, you couldn't shake the feeling that something was watching you.
And whatever it was, it didn't feel friendly.
.
.
You all lazily stood in the hallway for a moment longer, still shook after the sinister singing and flickering lights. The harsh silence of the house pressed down on you, and even Cartman's usual ramble seemed muted.
Stan broke the silence with a half hearted chuckle. "Okay, seriously, what kind of ghost sings? Is this like... Phantom of the Opera?"
"Yeah, maybe she's just auditioning for Broadway." Kenny snorted.
Cartman rolled his eyes. "Yeah, laugh it up, you pussies. Meanwhile, I'm trying to stay professional so we can get paid."
"Professional?" Craig repeated, his monotone voice dripping with sarcasm. "You've been sweating like shit and yelling at everyone since we got here."
"Shut the fuck up!" Cartman snapped. "Not everyone can be a soulless robot like you!"
Craig gave him the middle finger without even looking, his gaze fixed on the cracked ceiling. "Whatever."
Tweek tugged at the collar of his shirt, his shoulders tense. "Can we just move on? Standing in the hallway is making my skin crawl."
"Yeah." You agreed, glancing toward one of the nearby bedroom doors. "Let's check that one out. Maybe we'll find something useful."
"Or maybe we'll find more dust and spiders." Kyle muttered, though he followed you toward the door.
You all walked into the room cautiously, you flashlights darting across the space. It was a large bedroom, clearly once belonging to someone with expensive taste. The bed was massive, covered in faded sheets, the walls lined with mirrors. A heavy wardrobe stood in one corner, its doors slightly opened, a layer of dust coating every surface.
"This is... Creepy." Kenny whispered, shining his light on one of the dusty mirrors.
"Yeah, no thanks." Stan added. "This place screams tetanus."
Clyde, who has been quiet all this time, suddenly let out a blood curdling scream.
"What?!" Cartman shouted, spinning around.
"There's something on me! There's something on me!" Clyde screeched, flailing his arms wildly.
A large spider crawled up his sleeve, its legs moving across the fabric. Clyde's face went pale as he bolted across the room, swatting at himself like he was actually possessed.
"Get it off! Get it off!" He cried out.
"Dude, stop moving!" Stan yelled, trying to grab his arm.
"Hold still, idiot!" You added, but Clyde wasn't listening.
He stumbled into the wardrobe, rattling it loudly and sending a cloud of dust into the air. The spider, unfazed by the commotion, crawled onto Clyde's shoulder.
"Oh my God, it's still there!" Clyde whined, spinning in circles.
Kenny stepped forward, holding his flashlight like a weapon. "Calm down, I'll get it!"
Before anyone could do anything else, Clyde smacked his own shoulder with enough force to knock the spider to the ground. It ran away quickly, disappearing under the bed.
"There!" Clyde gasped, attempting to calm himself down as he clutched his chest. "It's gone! It's gone!"
"You're such a baby." Cartman smirked. "It was just a spider."
"Yeah, well I didn't see you rushing to help." Clyde shot back, his face still pale.
"Wait." You interrupted, pointing toward the door. "Did anyone else hear that?"
The room fell silent, everyone going quiet to listen. The it came, a faint creak, followed by the sound of the bedroom door slamming shut.
"Holy shit!" Tweek yelped, his eyes wide.
Kenny ran to the door, twisting the knob. "It's not locked." He let out a breath of relief. "But what the hell shut it?"
"Maybe the wind?" Stan sugested, though he didn't sound convinced.
"Yeah, definitely." Craig rolled his eyes, leaning on the wall with his hands shoved in his pockets. "The wind. In a house with no open windows. Makes total sense."
"Okay Mr. Unfazed, then what's your brilliant explanation?" Cartman snapped.
"Ghosts." Craig answered flatly. "Obviously."
"Ghosts aren't real." Kyle sighed, knowing damn well that he was just trying to calm himself down. "We've been over this."
"Then why are you sweating?" Craig shot back, a rare smirk on his face.
Kyle glared at him, but didn't respond.
"Can we please just investigate and get out of here?" You spoke up, breaking the tension.
The group hesitantly agreed, spreading around to search the room. Cartman stayed near the door, muttering to himself about 'stupid amateurs ruining his paycheck', while the rest of you examined the furniture and walls.
As you ran your flashlight along the far wall, you heard a faint knocking sound.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
You froze, your breath catching in your throat.
"Did you guys hear that?" You asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
"Hear what?" Stan asked, looking up from the dresser he was investigating.
The knocking came again, this time louder.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
"It's coming from the next room." Tweek noted, his voice trembling.
"Great." Clyde muttered. "More creepy noises. Just what we needed..."
Then, faint but unmistakable, came the sound of singing.
It was the same voice from before, soft and melodic, the kind of sound that made you shiver.
"Okay, nope." Clyde shook his head, backing toward the door. "I'm officially done. Screw this!"
"You're not leaving!" Cartman snapped, blocking the exit. "I don't care how scared you are. We're staying until we figure this out."
"Easy for you to say." Stan muttered. "You get to stay far away from the sound. You're not the one who has to listen to this creepy ass singing!"
You all fell silent again, the singing growing louder. It seemed to echo through the walls, wrapping around you like a cold but invisible hand.
"Alright..." Kyle broke the silence, his shoulders tense. "Let's just finish checking this room and move on. The faster we're done, the faster we can leave."
You nodded, though your hands were shaking slightly. You continued your search, but the tension in the room was evident and uneasy, every creak and whisper sending chills down your spine.
The hallway leading to the next room seemed suspiciously quiet, almost as of the house itself was holding its breath. You all hesitated in front of the door, your flashlights waving around.
"This is the last door on this side." You broke the silence. "Let's get this over with."
Cartman groaned, stepping forward with exaggerated confidence. "Step aside, amateurs. Watch the professional work."
He grabbed the doorknob and twisted, but the door didn't budge. "What the hell?" He grunted, twisting it harder. "It's stuck!"
"Maybe it's locked." Stan suggested, leaning closer.
"It's not locked!" Cartman snapped. "It's just being a piece of shit!"
"Let me try." Kenny offered, stepping forward. Together, the two of them pushed and pulled on the door, but it refused to give.
"Move." Craig warned, fighting the urge to roll his eyes. He gave the door a single hard kick, and with a loud creak, it swung open, revealing a barely lit room.
"Damn." You whispered, biting your bottom lip for a quick second as Craig just raised an eyebrow at you.
"Remind me not to get on your bad side." Clyde muttered.
Craig shrugged, his flashlight scanning the room. "You'd have to actually interest me for that to happen."
The rest of you stepped inside cautiously, your flashlights lighting up the room, revealing dust covered furniture and faded wallpaper. The room was large but cluttered, with a table, a tall wardrobe, and a canopy bed draped in pretty curtains. What caught everyone's attention, however, were the framed photos scattered across the room.
"Whoa..." You whispered, picking one of the many pictures up from a shelf. The photo was black and white, the edges yellowed with age.
The woman in the picture looked elegant, her hazel eyes shining even through the faded photograph. A small mole under her left eye added a touch of uniqueness to her already stunning features, and her smile was warm and inviting.
"Is that her?" Tweek asked, leaning over your shoulder to get a better look. "The ghost?"
"Probably." Kyle shrugged, picking up another photo from another shelf. "She looks... Different than what I expected."
"Yeah." Stan agreed. "Not your typical creely ghost lady."
"Don't let the pictures fool you." Kenny informed, smirking. "The nice ones are always the scariest."
Cartman snorted, shoving past everyone to examine the photos himself. "You bitches are so easily impressed. It's just a bunch of old pictures. Big deal."
As if on cue, a soft melody began playing from the corner of the room. Everyone froze in their spot.
"What the hell is that?" Clyde whispered, his voice trembling.
You turned toward the source of the sound, your flashlight landing on a small, golden box sitting on the nightstand. The same one you so badly wanted to touch earlier. Its lid was open, revealing a delicate ballerina figure spinning slowly to the tune.
"Nope." You sighed immediately, shaking your head. "I am not doing this."
Before anyone could stop you, you marched over to the music box and snapped the lid shut. The melody stopped abruptly, leaving the room silent.
"[Y/N]..." Kyle started, his tone cautious and soft. "Maybe you shouldn't-"
The lights went out.
A harmonized gasp filled the room, followed by the sound of stumbling feet and hurried whispers.
"Who turned off the lights?" Cartman demanded, his voice high pitched with panic.
"No one!" Stan hissed. "Just stay calm-"
A blood curdling scream tore through the darkness, so loud and piercing that it felt like it was coming from inside your own head.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" Clyde screamed, practically climbing onto Kenny for protection.
The floorboard beneath you groaned, the heavy and slow footsteps closer. Then came the banging, loud, frantic and relentless, echoing through and off the walls as if the entire house was alive.
"Get me out of here!" Tweek shouted, his voice cracking as he clung to the nearest person, which happened to be you.
"I can't see anything!" Kyle yelled, his flashlight flickering wildly in his hands.
"Move bitches, move your fucking asses!" Cartman screamed, his usual confidence and braveness completely gone.
Just as suddenly as it had started, the chaos stopped. The lights flickered back on as everyone stood frozen, your breaths coming out in ragged gasps.
"Is everyone okay?" Stan asked, his voice shaking.
"I think so..." You mumbled, your hands trembling. "But what the hell was that?"
"Uh... Guys..." Kenny trailed off, his voice unusually serious. "Look at the mirrors."
You turned slowly, your heart thumping in your chest as you took in the sight. Every mirror in the room was cracked, crazy and uneven lines scattered across their surface.
And then you saw her.
She stood near the music box, her once beautiful face twisted into an expression of pure rage. Her white dress was stained with dirt, her hair a tangled mess that hung over her milky white eyes. The pearl necklace from the photos was now dangling loosely around her neck, cracked in several places.
No one spoke. No one even dared to move.
The ghost's gaze scanned over each one of you, her presence suffocating and cold.
"Oh shit..." Clyde whispered, his voice barely audible.
Cartman, of all people, was the fist to completely break the silence. He pointed an accusing finger at you.
"[Y/N], you dumb bitch!" He shouted. "I told you not to touch anything!"
...
Cartman took a cautious step forward, his flashlight flickering as he raised it toward her ghostly figure. His confidence was shaky at best, but he puffed out his chest in a pitiful attempt to seem in control.
"Alright, listen up, you decrepit old hag!" He barked, his voice cracking slightly. "I don't know who you are, but you're messing with licensed professionals here!"
She didn't react, her sinsiter and unblinking gaze fixed on them.
"Cartman, shut up!" Kyle hissed, gripping his flashlight tightly.
"No, no, I've got this!" Cartman insisted, waving a hand dismissively. He turned back to the ghost, narrowing his eyes. "You think you're scary? I've seen scarier things come out of Kenny's microwave! You look like you crawled out of a sewer and then got hit by a truck! What are you, part of the teenage mutant turtles?!"
The lights flickered violently, the room growing colder and more suffocating with each passing second. The ghost's head tilted slightly, her form trembling as if she was barely holding back her anger.
"Dude, stop!" Stan warned, his voice tense.
But Cartman was on a roll. "Oh, what's the matter? Did your ugly little music box break? Is that why you're so pissed off? Newsflash lady, nobody even uses music boxes anymore. Get with the times!"
As he spat out insult after insult, you noticed something. The ghost wasn't moving closer to Cartman despite her obvious anger. Instead, her transparent form seemed to stand close to the music box sitting on the nightstand.
"Wait..." Stan muttered under his breath, his brows furrowed together. "It's the music box, she's guarding it!"
You blinked, glancing between Stan and the ghost. "You think that's what's keeping her there?"
"She's not moving away from the music box, no matter how much Cartman screams at her." Stan whispered. "It has to mean something..."
"Cartman, keep her distracted!" Stan suddenly called out, his mind racing as he pieced together a plan.
Cartman turned, looking both insulted and confused. "Distracted? I'm trying to banish her, dipshit! Do you know how much skill that takes?!"
"Just do it!" Stan snapped.
Cartman huffed but turned back to the ghost. "Oh, so now you're just gonna stare at me like some creepy doll? You think that's intimidating? I've seen scarier things in the mirror every morning! Wait, that doesn't sound right..."
While Cartman continued judging her, Stan crept toward the music box, moving as quietly as he could. The rest of you held your breath, your eyes darting between Stan and the ghost. Her gaze remained locked on Cartman, though her form flickered as if sensing Stand presence near the box.
"Just grab it already!" Clyde whispered harshly.
Stan's hands shook as he reached for the music box. His fingers barely grazed the lid when all of the sudden the ghost's head snapped toward him, her milky white eyes narrowing.
"Shit." Stan gasped, making eye contact with the ghost as he froze completely. "Run!" He shouted, yanking the music box off the nightstand.
The ghost let out another blood curdling scream, the sound so loud and piercing it felt like it was drilling into your skull. The lights flickered wildly, sending the room into bursts of darkness and light.
"Move, bitch!" You yelled, grabbing Clyde's arm and shoving him toward the door.
You all bolted out of the room in a frantic scramble, tripping over each other as you sprinted down the hallway. The walls seemed to shake with the ghost's rage, her screams echoing behind you.
"She's following us!" Tweek cried out, his voice trembling as he clung to you arm.
"Don't look back!" Stan yelled, clutching the music box tightly as he led the rest of you down the stairs.
You all rushed into the hall, nearly knocking over a decorative vase. The kitchen door creaked open slightly, and for a split second, you caught a glimpse of the old couple sipping tea at the table, unaware of the chaos unfolding just a few feet away.
"We're gonna die, and they're drinking fucking tea!" Clyde whined, almost tripping over the rug.
"Shut up and keep running!" Kyle snapped, shoving him toward the front doors.
You all burst into the garden, the cool night air hitting your face like a splash of water. Your eyes darted around wildly, taking in the small graveyard sat at the edge of the property.
"Her grave!" Stan panted, doubling over as he tried to catch his breath. "We need to find her grave!"
The rest of you stared at the rows of headstones, the glow of the moon softly shining on them.
"There's too many of them!" Clyde cried. "We don't even know her name! How are we supposed to-"
"There!" Stan pointed to a headstone near the center, the name 'Mary DeLacroix' carved into the stone. "I saw her name on an open notebook, on the table [Y/N] found the first photo! At least I think that's her!" He panted, barely breathing.
He took a step forward but hesitated, his hands shaking as he held out the music box.
"I can't do it..." He admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "I-I'll mess it up!"
Stan didn't think, he just threw the music box into your arms. There wasn't much you could say, especially because of the state you were in. You quickly bolted toward Mary's grave.
"Wait, you can't just-" Tweek shouted after you, panicking as he saw you complying instead of throwing the music box into someone else's hands.
The tiny metal gate surrounding the graveyard clattered as you jumped over it, the music box clutched tightly in your hands. Behind you, Mary's screams grew louder, her ghostly form tearing through the garden.
Your heart pounded in your chest as you reached her grave, nearly tripping over your own feet. Dropping to your knees, you placed the music box gently on top of the headstone, your breath coming in ragged gasps.
"Please work..." You whispered, your voice trembling. "If it doesn't, I swear I'll posses Stan and jump off a bridge..."
You turned around, seeing Mary's form exactly in front of you, inches away from you, her once beautiful face twisted with rage. Her hands were raised as if she was about to strike, but the miment her eyes landed on the music box, she froze. You swore you've seen this sight in a FNAF game before.
The air around you grew still, the harsh weight of her presence lifting slightly. Mary's angry expression softened, her ghostly form flickering as she reached out toward the music box.
Her fingers grazed it lightly. "Thank you..." She whispered, her voice barely audible.
Before you could respond, her form began to disintegrate, her body breaking apart into specks of light that drifted upward like fireflies. The garden grew silent once more, the only sound being the rustling leaves in the night breeze.
Your shoulders relaxed a bit, still sitting down on the grass, your hands trembling as you tried to catch your breath.
The rest of the group rushed over, their faces a mix of relief and awe.
"Holy shit!" Kyle panted, helping you to your feet. "You actually did it!"
"Damn right she did." Kenny teased, smacking you on the back playfully.
"Nice work..." Tweek added, giving you a shy smile.
Cartman, of course, had to ruin the moment. "Yeah, yeah, great job [Y/N]. But let's not forget who kept that bitch distracted in the first place. If it weren't for me, you'd all be dead!"
Craig flipped him off. "You're welcome, fatass."
Clyde let out a shaky laugh, his hands still trembling. "We're never doing this again, right? Right?"
"Don't bet on it." Kyle muttered, glancing back at the house as he kept his hand on your shoulder.
For the first time that night, you allowed yourself to relax, a small smile tugging at your lips. Mary was gone, and for now, you were safe.
...
You all walked back to the mansion, adrenaline slowly giving away to exhaustion. Tweek clung to you, his eyes darting around nervousness as if expecting Mary to reappear at any moment.
"Holy shit..." Clyde muttered, breaking the silence. "We just... Banished a ghost. Like, an actual, real ghost."
Kyle let out a shaky breath, running a hand down his face. "Yeah, and I'm still trying to process how any of this is real. Ghosts aren't supposed to exist."
"Guess what, Kyle?" Cartman started, his voice smug as he spun around to face the rest of you. "We're officially professional ghost hunters now. You all doubted me, but I just led us through a successful exorcism. So, you're welcome!"
"You didn't do shit." Stan shot back. "All you did was piss her off."
"And distract her!" Cartman added, puffing his chest out. "You think she'd have stood there like an idiot if I wasn't verbally destroying her? Face it, Stan, you're just mad because I'm the brains if this operation."
"Brains?" Craig repeated, raising an eyebrow. "I'd argue you're the ass of this operation." Kenny snickered and nudged Craig's shoulder.
Cartman ignored them, waving a dismissive hand as he marched ahead. "You losers can make all the jokes you want, but when people hear about our success, we're gonna be rolling in cash. And you'll all owe it to me!"
Tweek let out a nervous chuckle. "I still can't believe any of t-this. Like... Ghosts? R-Real ghosts?" He glanced at you, his eyes wide. "Did you hear her say 'thank you' at the end? Or was I just hallucinating?"
"I heard it too. She seemed... Less scary in the end. Almost peaceful." You shrugged, offering him a small smile.
"Nah, I think you're both just schizophrenic." Cartman interrupted.
"Peaceful?" Clyde repeated, his voice still shaky. "She was about to kill us five minutes ago!"
"Yeah, well, maybe that's because Cartman kept calling her Master Splinter or something." You shot back with a grin.
"It was the teenage mutant ninja turtles you fucking bitch! Get it right next time!" Cartman snapped.
He spun on his heel, pointing an accusing finger at you. "And don't act like you didn't touch the music box! If anything, this is all your fault!"
"Yeah, yeah." You rolled your eyes. "And who was it that ran straight to her grave and banished her? Oh, right, me."
The tension eased slightly as the mansion came into view. The warm glow of the windows was oddly comforting after the chilling events that had just happened moments ago.
As you stepped inside, the old couple was waiting in the hall, their expressions curious but calm.
"Ah, you're back!" The old woman clasped her hands together. "We were wondering if you left already."
"Left?" Kyle repeated, his eyes wide and voice surprised. "How did you not hear what was happening out there? The screaming? The running? The lights flickering?"
The old man raised an eyebrow, his face wrinkling into a suspicious frown. "Screaming? Flickering lights? What are you talking about?"
Cartman groaned, slapping his forehead. "Of course you didn't hear it. You were too busy sipping tea while we were out there risking our lives!"
The old woman's expression softened, her gaze darting between you all. "Well, whatever happened, it seems you even managed to get rid of her. The house feels... Lighter now. Thank you."
She reached into her purse and pulled out a small envelope. "Here's the other $100 we agreed on. And..." She hesitated, glancing at her husband, who nodded reluctantly. "Here's an extra $50 for your trouble. You've truly done us service."
Cartman snatched the envelope before anyone else could, grinning ear to ear. "See? I told you we'd get paid! This is what happens when you follow my lead."
"Dude, you did nothing." Stan crossed his arms.
"Nothing? Nothing?!" Cartman barked, waving the envelope in Stan's face. "Who do you think convinced them to pay us extra? My charisma! My leadership! My-"
"Your massive ego?" Craig interrupted.
"That too." Kenny added with a snicker.
The old couple exchanged a glance, clearly unsure of what to make of your group. "Well..." The old man cleared his throat. "We'll leave you to it. Thank you again for your help."
As they disappeared into the kitchen, Cartman turned to the rest of you, his grin widening. "You guys realize what this means, right? We're gonna be rich. This ghost hunting gig is our ticket to the big league!"
"I don't know if I'd call almost dying a gig." You sighed, shaking your head.
You pushed the heavy wooden doors open, walking outside as the cold night air hit your skin once more. The rest of the group followed along, walking back to your van.
"But it was kinda fun." Clyde admitted, a small smile forming onto his face. "I mean, terrifying, but... Fun?"
"Exactly!" Cartman exclaimed. "This is just the beginning. We're gonna take this town by storm! Ghosts, demons, you name it, we'll hunt it!"
"Please don't tell me you're serious." Kyle groaned.
"Dead serious." Cartman replied bluntly, his expression even more stern now.
Kenny leaned against the side of the van, his hands shoved into his pockets. "So, uh... Raisins?"

Normally, I don't post about alternate universes unless I've managed a story out of them. Headcanon and AU ramble territory is already covered; why add more, especially when it's all branched out from an idea that wasn't even mine to start with?
That, my friends, are the words I'd say if I were a quitter (or at the very least, capable of shame anymore). With a cat on my lap and a recurring idea in my head, it's time to buckle down and write out the bones and vibes of the latest thing that's grabbed ahold of my brain: an interpretive take on the aftermath of @profbastard's Castlevania AU, wherein Luigi becomes a vampire. As it stands at the moment, said creator has migrated off Tumblr to Insta, so if you want to see where he's going with the actual story, go check him out there.
Also, before I get into things and go under the cut (cw for blood and body horror), here's the cat tax.
Still with me? This post is long, but don't let it flop, y'all. Let's-a go.
Summary
Remember when Smash Bros. Ultimate dropped? Remember that trailer where Luigi was poking around a castle, showing off the latest Poltergust for a Luigi's Mansion that hadn't come out yet, and then died before Simon came into the picture? Shoot, have you ever done Luigi's classic mode on Smash Ultimate, where the final fight is Dracula himself?
The Castlevania AU is what happens if Dracula got the jump on Luigi.
Now, with it being an ongoing story, I hate to delve into much beyond the fact that it's all leading up to a pretty big fight. What interests me the most is what comes after that, in this particular timeline where crossovers are common, and how exactly Luigi's vampirism would be taken by friends and family across time and space.
There's also a point where I go off-timeline and involve the famiglia introduced in the 2023 movie, but that's best left to another post if anyone is still interested by then. For now, let's dive into the aftermath and some other things that come after.
Immediately After the Big Bad Battle
With Dracula and Mario both out for the count, Luigi takes it upon himself to get his brother out of there and back home. He comes very close to dying again on the way, what with having to outrun the rising sun, but he makes it back to town. He doesn't remember anything from then until waking up in the medical wing, where Mario is beyond relieved to see him awake. Turns out he only got hit by a stone from the crumbling castle walls, while Luigi nearly burned up. Thankfully, vampires heal quickly, especially when hooked up to an IV blood supply, but it was still scary for Mario to watch. He decides, then and there, to not tell Luigi just how afraid he'd been of losing him--both to death, and to Dracula's thrall.
Seeing that Luigi had been out for a day and a half, and that news travels fast across worlds, it didn't take long for his fellow fighters to send cards his way. The first one he read (which easily became one of his favorites) was from Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings, consisting of a folded-over posterboard with an illustration of Luigi besting Dracula. By the looks of things, Junior might've heard a more embellished account (Luigi doesn't remember setting Drac on fire, for starters), but it was still sweet, reading the first of many well wishes with Mario by his side. No one has a harsh word for him. Instead, he's been worried over, enough to warrant advice and assistance from friends across the universe. It'll be a while before he takes anyone up on their offers, but when he finally gets used to his new life, he'll reach out and take their help.
For now, though, he's still shaken by what he's become, and what he'll have to do to stay alive.
It's right about then that Sonic and Tails arrive, laden with get-wells from everyone the brothers had met during the Olympics. Sonic dumps it all on the bed as Tails apologizes for their lateness; Sonic had personally gone around to everybody they knew and refused to leave until they wrote something. Heck, he even got Eggman to send along a card! Something about all this brings a tear to Luigi's eye, and before he knows it, he's sobbing, overwhelmed by everyone's kindness before scrambling back from those gathered.
What was he doing, letting so many people get close to him? Didn't they know what a vampire could do? It was one thing to have Mario nearby, but with three heartbeats calling out? He's afraid of losing control, of hurting them, like he'd nearly done the night before. Sonic immediately shuts that down. Last he checked, he was the fastest thing alive; therefore, if Luigi tried anything, Sonic would see it coming from a mile away and would be able to get everyone out of dodge. It takes a while to trust him and stop believing that he'll do something wrong, but Luigi comes around by the time Sonic and Tails have to leave. They promise to drop by before the next Olympics.
Luigi the Vampire Bro
Becoming a vampire has the potential to strip the victim of their humanity. Such a thing has not happened to Luigi, though he constantly fears that it will.
Some things about vampires, it turns out, were true. Others, thankfully, were not. Sure, he'd gotten rather pale, and his eyes had gone red and nearly cat-like, but he could still cook with garlic and see himself in mirrors made in the current century. There are a few mirrors in Peach's castle that are silver-backed, which renders him invisible in their presence--a trait Peach puts to use whenever she invites Luigi out to search for antiques.
The sun is very much his enemy now, made bearable only with the help of magic and parasols. Tails had given him an umbrella that automatically tilts to block the sun, and he never leaves the house without it. He also never goes anywhere without a bespoke protection charm, enchanted by Kamek to keep his senses in check, as well as a special sunshine-shielding badge from Sarasaland, courtesy of Daisy.
It becomes very clear that most of the foods Luigi loved before are not exactly appealing, nor nutritious, for a fledgling vampire. Aside from a handful of dishes that incorporate animal blood, Luigi's diet now consists of plasma fruit (I borrowed from the Sims and I have no shame, but I'm gonna say Peasley gifted the kingdom an orchard), the occasional tap into someone he trusts, and the bags of blood that E. Gadd brings around every week. The Professor has been very helpful in making life more accommodating for him, but Luigi has made a point to never ask where he's getting all this blood from. Some things are best unanswered.
(For those wanting to know, E. Gadd's getting it from animals, particularly New Donk City-raised rats. Plentiful, never-ending supply, and with the right treatments, perfectly safe for vampire consumption.)
Factor Takes on the 2024 Olympics
For those not familiar, the Mario and Sonic series went from a collection of sports minigames with the franchise's stars to…the same thing, but with dream events and a story mode starting with the 2012 installment. The stories usually involve the main antagonists getting up to no good while everyone else is chilling and having fun, with Eggman mostly in charge and Bowser as his lackey. After 2020, though, I wouldn't blame Bowser for sitting out on whatever Eggman's cooking up next.
The way I see the Olympics even working is for everyone involved to be warped to a pocket dimension--one that is pretty much a given Earth city, but branches off of whatever Earth is currently doing. It's the Earth that sees weird stuff all the time, so two worlds' worth of characters dropping in to play sports for two weeks is given a handwave.
By this point, Luigi's become a lot more comfortable with who he is, though he can't help but be a little shy upon seeing everyone again in Paris. The extended Sonic crew are more than happy to see him, though, and immediately set about to making him feel right at home. There's even a couple of new competitors this year: Cream the Rabbit, and Sage the AI. Sage mostly hangs back with Eggman during all this, watching from afar while Eggman sits and schemes. After the last failed Olympics plot, the Doctor's on his own; Bowser would rather not get killed doing the dirty work again.
So far, so good. Luigi is relieved that the shipment of plasma fruit made it to the kitchens, ready to be blended into nourishing smoothies to consume between events. He goes to bed, confident that things are going to go all right, that he won't have to actually consume any blood in front of anyone.
And then, the fruits go missing.
It wasn't apparent that something was wrong until after lunch, when he found himself in the kitchen sipping at a reserve bag while the chefs explained what had transpired. The crates had vanished sometime between last night and this morning, and for all that the crew were doing to locate them, not a trace could be found. They offer to slip blood into his sport bottles instead (which would be specially marked for him), but Luigi refuses. He drinks up for now, tells the crew to save the rest of the stock, and proceeds to play his heart out, pushing himself to perform for days without daring to touch the backups, even for dinner. Two or three days in, he's completely spent, wandering back to the cafeteria in a daze as his friends try to figure out what's wrong. He hadn't told anyone what he'd found out, hoping to find the fruit before things got bad, but it was all going downhill fast.
It's right about there that he comes across Eggman and Sage, who had been conspicuously absent all day, arguing about the nanobots Eggman wishes to deploy to ensure his own victory.
Turns out, Eggman had absconded with the precious fruits, wanting to turn their iron content into something he found more useful than consumption. With the right tools, each little fruit could become a synthesizer, pumping out nanobots and other things necessary for the Eggman Empire. If Luigi was truly a vampire, then surely he wouldn't have trouble finding something else to eat. Heck, maybe he'd be able to thin out the competition a little.
By this point, Luigi is seething. Here he was, threatening to pass out every other step, while his food supply had been taken to fulfill another one of the Doctor's self-serving plans. To couple it with such dismissal, along with the notion of feeding off of his friends, is enough to make him snap. It might've been a year since he'd last lost control of himself, but the monstrous form he assumes comes to him without a hitch, overwhelming him with a single directive: to rip out Eggman's throat.
Imagine something like that, but a few feet shorter, covered with the tatters of athletic wear. Imagine it charging at you with its fangs bared, all sense of reasoning gone out the window. This is Luigi's dreaded monster form, the very thing Dracula pushed him toward, being turned against another force out to mess with him. Had it not been for Sage's shields and the intervention of passersby, Eggman would've likely lost his head. After that brush with death, Eggman is more than willing to hand over the rest of the plasma fruit, though he holds on to the nanobots he's already made.
Sonic alone can't stop Luigi when he's like this. No one person can. Between Silver's telekinetic grip, Shadow and Knuckles pushing back against him, and Sonic getting Eggman out of the room, it takes everything Mario has to stay calm and find something to sate his bro. He's able to get to the kitchen and back with a bag before anyone gets hurt, except for him, because Luigi was quick to jump for the blood and ended up nicking Mario in the process.
Everyone holds their breath as Luigi drinks up, not daring to move a muscle. When he regains control of himself, he's horrified. Here he was, a monster amongst them, with Mario bloodied and backing away from him like all the others staring at him. With the wide berth he was given, Luigi takes the opportunity to escape, fleeing out of the village and into the city to get away from them before he hurt someone else.
In hindsight, he should've ran for the hills. The city, however, will have to do. Perhaps he can become one with the many, many gargoyles, passing time well out of anyone's reach.
He didn't deserve to be reached out to, anyway.
----
EDIT: going to tag some peeps in this post, since it occurred to me that with the winter storm, some of y'all might not be on for a bit.
So, for those who might be interested, time to list you off. Do let me know if monsters aren't your thing.

straight women are so fascinating to me I want to study them under a microscope. Today this girl on instagram said she loves the first few weeks with a guy when he makes her feel so feminine but after that he "turns her into her dad" and other women were in the comments agreeing. I have to admit that I'd previously assumed very few people would ever want to be treated like they were feminine but I'm listening and learning
#help i thought in fics when people were like 'her womanly charm his manly stubble' that was just like bad writing#i didn't think people actually felt that way irl i thought that was propaganda jgkgjbjbjbbbmbn#like are some women out there feeling GOOD about all of that. like enjoying it#no i get that there are different experiences in life i do#it's just wild to have the specific thing i hate about het relationships pointed out but as the thing someone else likes??#and also. so i've never gotten to the bit after they treat you really feminine. because i hate that bit so much#it's crazy to me to learn there IS a bit after that like i didn't know that#i'm learning so much today thank you straight women

I need to stop finishing fics when i have to sleep. but anway. heres 1.3k words of f!chentega, plus a bit of unnamed sidestep for funsies.
Chen is cutting Ortega's hair.
They've both settled into her living room, a bottle of beer set on the table. She's buzzed, not drunk, just enough alcohol in her system to get the words flowing easier. Chen, ever responsible, hasn't touched a drop. He focuses on cutting and brushing, mechanical hands careful not to get the comb tangled in her wavy hair. Julia, meanwhile, is talking, but about what, she couldn't tell you. Half of her thoughts are elsewhere, eyes closed as she lets Chen work.
Cutting Ortega's hair has become their own little ritual. Every few months or so, whenever her hair became long enough to bother her, she would call Wei over to cut it down to length. Sometimes she returns the favour, though that mostly entails grabbing a razor and shaving until it was completely cropped. Not like this, where skills actually mattered to make the results look good.
It was suggested to her, uncharacteristically, by Chen. About a year or so after she first cut her hair, she was lamenting to him about how she missed having short hair. She was just talking– she didn't expect him to take it seriously, but about ten minutes into her rant he had looked up from where he was typing on his computer and asked, "Do you want me to cut it?"
She had given him a look. "You can do that?"
He shrugged. "I know some styles. I can make it look decent, at least."
"Are you sure?" she'd asked, still skeptical. Not that she wouldn't be grateful, but-
"You don't have to deal with the stylists anymore," he pointed out, and that had been that. She found out later on that he learned how to cut hair from his siblings. He would mostly do it on his brothers, though sometimes his sisters too, when the money was tight or his family didn't feel like heading to the stylist.
It's nice, sitting here and talking to him like nothing else matters. A moment of reprieve to catch their breath in the pressure bomb that is their lives. Julia cracks a joke, and Chen huffs in amusement, though he doesn't stop cutting. She takes another pull from her bottle.
Maybe one day she'll ask the questions she's been meaning to. They still haven't talked about whatever this is. Neither Chen nor Ortega are good with their words, and there isn't much that isn't already said by the pocket moments they spend watching eachother navigate the world. The look in other people's eyes when somebody calls Wei "he". The way the stylists purse their lips whenever Julia walks into the studio. The understanding was unspoken but mutual, though Ortega could never place what. Chen might be able to, but until she decides to ask, she wouldn't know.
She will. Someday. Just not today, sitting in front of her TV, talking about God-knows-what and content to let him work till he finally steps away.
"Finished."
She opens her eyes, not bothering to look at herself in the mirror though its propped up on the table next to the beer. They've done this enough times already that she knows it will look good. Instead, she watches as Chen puts everything away, combs, clippers, the works. She nabs the scissors from the table, spinning it on her finger. When he goes to grab them and finds nothing, he looks up and sighs, the corner of his lip twitching at her antics.
"Julia, you're going to stab someone's eye out."
"Hey, I can dodge scissors," she insists, looking at him innocently. "Can you, Marshal?"
His face is caught halfway between exasparated and unimpressed. She chuckles and acquiesces, handing the scissors for him to pack into his bag.
It's not often nowadays that Julia gets to spend time with Wei outside of the Rangers. He was always busy as the Marshal dealing with the mess she left behind, and when she wasn't busy at the HQ or fighting villains, she was twelve balls of yarn deep into her own investigations. The quiet moments were rare enough that it feels precious to watch him like this, walls down, for once without the furrow in his brow as he worked. It makes him look softer.
It makes him look handsome.
"Hey, Wei?"
He turns to face her, still holding the scissors. "Yes?"
Julia could be completely wrong about everything, of course. He could recoil the minute she cups his face, or push her away as she pulls him in. He could, but he doesn't, and his lips are warm when they meet hers. His breath tastes better than she thought. She doesn't know why she would think otherwise– Julia was the one drinking beer the whole time. She traces her thumb over one of the scars on his cheek, rough yet soft, and a part of her wonders what it would be like to run her tongue over it.
It's a beat or two before anything happens, long enough that she worries she really did misjudge. Then, ever so slowly, Chen settles a hand on her face, careful, almost afraid. Not even touching the hair he spent the past thirty minutes working on. His hand moves from her cheek down to her chin, gently tilting her head upwards to make it easier from where he's standing. Julia wraps a hand around his neck and brings him down lower, and he obliges like putty. No trace of the hard edges she'd come to see as his staple, just a tenderness she never remembers seeing in him before.
It's harder to break the kiss than she would like. Wei doesn't resist. He's still holding the scissors. She half expected him to have dropped it, but instead he's gripping them tight enough that she wonders if they'll break.
"Julia?" Brittle. Out of breath. Still looking at her lips at first, but then his eyes flit to the side of her face, and with a breath that's not quite a huff, he tucks a stray strand of hair she hadn't even noticed behind her ear.
"Thank you," she whispers, barely loud enough to be heard in the silence of her apartment. For being her friend. For being the only goddamn woman left in Los Diablos that really got her. For caring enough to keep her hair out of her face.
She says none of this. She just turns back around, not looking to see Chen's face as she takes another pull from her bottle.
———
"I think Chen has a crush on you."
"Oh." She stops, looking at you with an expression you can't quite interpret. "You do." The words are careful, hesitant. It's not a question, but it's not not one either.
"I do," you say, frowning at her reaction. It's not the explosive confusion you were expecting, more a quiet "oh, shit" moment as the ball drops. She hasn't even raised her voice yet. "I'm pretty sure he has for a while."
"Did he...tell you that?"
"Not in so many words, but he has his tells."
"He does," she mutters, running a hand through her hair. There's a sigh punctuated by a string of quiet curses.
"Did you already know?" you ask, narrowing your eyes at her. She didn't react the way you thought she would. Did she pick up on it? Has she just been ignoring it the entire time?
"In a way," she admits, looking away to the coffee machine like she wants to make herself another cup.
"Why haven't you done anything about it?" Knowing Ortega, she should've ambushed Chen the moment she suspected that was the case.
"It's complicated." She shakes her head, dispelling whatever thundercloud was brewing behind her static shielded mind, then turns back to you with a smile. "Don't worry, I'll talk to him. In the meantime, you can tell me why you're here?"
You can't help but frown. She's taking this too well for something to not be going on, but from the look in her eyes, you're not getting any answers right now.
You'll find the time to pry one of them about it. Later. It's not a secret those two can keep away from you forever.

Just my thoughts—as a fandom hermit of sorts.
Creating for nobody but yourself is actually discouraging when it's done repulsively. You'll feel its hard slap later down the line—unless your inner reader began to enjoy you as an author. They will gradually subside your inner critic and might teach them few lessons in how to appreciate maybe not the work itself—who of us doesn't have an one we dislike in some way?—but the craftwork went behind its creation.
How to do that?
Surprisingly easy.
Watch your creative decisions. Introspect. See yourself in your work.
You are inseparable in some way or another, your reflection is present within it, and by that I imply how you felt writing it and why did you think something would or wouldn't work. The only one who usually know is you, so, if you feel something is wrong, it probably is. The best is the enemy of the good, yes, but I'm not talking about perfectionism. I'm talking about the need to listen to that tingle and being able to assess it before editing.
Perfectionism is, in a sense, artistic pessimism. It tells you everything is wrong but it can't be an objective truth. Then some scenes must be wrong, and alright, good, the field is narrowed down. Which ones? Where? Why? At that point, put the work away for a day or two, then re-open, re-see, realise, that yes, that could be improved, except it isn't a scene. It's a sloppy word choice. It changed the sentence, that avalanched into a little rearrangement, and voila, everything works.
You fight the pessimistic outlook with a little bit of rest.
The more you learn how to treat your work, the more you might grow excited to try new things and not because you want to show them to the world but first to yourself.
That little part of you is who actually matter. Learn to love these little emotion abstractions. Care for the little guy, nurse them, feed them different ideas, styles, work them up to your master and see yourself forming in directions you'd never thought you would be able to simply because them—you—wanted to try something new. It would not matter if those were successful or not; when the entire process is a journey, the output's performance begins to matter very little.
Besides, the little guy would want company—and that's when other people come in. The reader doesn't like negative responses or no responses at all, true. Know who does? Your inner critic.
They're all too eager to overthink things and they're the perpetrator of your pessimism. So make them analyse why something clicks for many people and why something goes under their radar, make them a little analytics-building machine (which is also a skill), and just keep its outputs close in case you're curious how different fandoms or communities work. It's mostly a useless information. But you will be certain about things, and certainty brings comfort.
It will help to find readers in case you'd need more, too. Or if you'd like to meet someone new. But is it a guaranteed method? No, it isn't. Sometimes you'll write the most influential fandom monsterfic and all these people will pass by. Othertimes you'd write the smallest fic in the fandom but all its people will get around it because they liked your take on things or became curious with your ideas—and they can actually stuck around. You may never know. Fandom isn't business, it is rather a wild fair with barely predictable events in its main mystery.
Besides.
You can't make yourself a miracle to everyone; but be the miracle to yourself, and people will notice it and will try to comprehend you. Be Original, they say. They lie. They want the same jacket but red. Or the same jacket but sewn from kelps. Be Familiar But Be Outland-ish. Do your thing, that everybody else does, in your own fascinating way. Be the artist after all, be that bitch and leave people with the art-shaped holes in their thoughts.
I used to play an instrument once. I was bad at it, well, I was taught poorly and was only ever learning how to play from the sheets. It never go outwith or far and the instrument is long-sold, but I'm still able to recall the emotions I had while playing it. Heartbeat was the metronome, the hands were going in perfect synch, the entire body was able to feel the timings, and at some point, it wasn't simply the flow and going along with it. It was being the flow. The architect behind its creation—well, yes, the music wasn't mine, but being able to recreate it and make it sound as it supposed to sound was utterly captivating, enamouring, absolutely wondrous experience.
Years later I became enamoured with the writing—the process of it. If I manage to build the flow correctly and sail down my own rivers with little to no bump, unless planned, I'm overjoyed and amazed.
But will it go far? How well will it perform? Sometimes I do care if I know people might be interested, but beyond that, it's just doing its thing and bringing me joy because it's a puzzle, because it's a never-ending fascination—and because it's even more than that when done in the completely different tongue. And people take to it. Because it looks fun, perhaps, or it's something they had rarely seen before done in the language, or maybe it's just the way I tend to pick words and arrange them. I always get different answers. But what I know for certain: that something I found within me works both for me and people liking my things.
That what matters.
It all might sound a tad bit mental but it's so important to be in harmony with yourself as an author, as a reader, and as your own critic—who else knows you as much as you? Don't forget the people you have—the crowds will come and go, but the friends will stay.
Maybe this is a hot take, but as creative people, our #1 priority in our work should be ourselves.
It is not, AND SHOULD NEVER BE, what would get us the most engagement. Dispel "content creation," popularity, and monetization from your brain. Write, paint, draw what you want to! HOLY SHIT!!!!!!
The people who resonate with it will eventually show up. But the people who don't? Who cares???? The art you personally create is meant to help you heal, to help you express, to bring you joy and pain!!!!
You need to learn how to work on something because you deeply care for it and can revel in that self-satisfaction. Of course recognition feels fucking great! We all want it. We are humans, but you need to stop creating with the idea of other people consuming your work!!!
Give into the art movement. Create a renaissance for yourself. Fuck other people. Be that bitch! People are not going to be in your lives forever, and when you're left to your own devices, you should be able to look at what you've created and fucking love it.
#днявочка: реблог#being rambly at 8am hee hee#yes it can be argued friends aren't easy to make but ask yourself this: do you want friends for their quantity or quality?#it also can be argued that im talking about the unachievable things. but i exist. and i never did imply it's a short journey#and this:#DONT CALL CREATIVE WORK CONTENT#is absolutely correct. you're not a content creator. you are an artist#content is something you put on a website to fill up the space; a filler. art leaves impressions and cut holes and gets stuck with people

I absolutely really need to be writing anything but random ideas while I procrastinate and this is so awful rough bc I literally wrote it on my phone in one sitting while avoiding work but
Do you see my vision. Her Nosy Bitch Syndrome would actually be good for him when they've both chilled out a little in the postcanon.
#fic#wip#i know its weird that im writing about shuro getting a crush on marcille when i have no intentions of letting that go anywhere#but the idea wont leave my head. he would end up liking her for the same reasons the toudens latched onto her#she's weird and awful in her own way but she's honest about it. you never have to second guess yourself with her#because she wears her heart on her sleeve and is so bad at not doing so#she's not afraid to Speak Up and advocate for herself so you can trust her to push back if you lean on her too hard#maybe i just have terminal blorboism. i want to see her be freaky good at learning eastern magic#and maybe even cry a little bc calligraphy gives her that same calm feeling that braiding her hair used to#and she didnt think she'd ever find another meditation routine that actually fits her#also its just. wouldnt it be so funny. if falin was worried about them not getting along bc marcille is jealous#and then actually visiting and seeing the way shuro looks at her and going#oh no you dont. thats MY elf get your own!!!!!

I'm noticing an uptick in comments complaining that most of the current WIR fandom content is Turbo instead of the other characters and, like... you guys know you can search other characters by their specific tags, right??? Or exclude Turbo from search results by temporarily blacklisting him in your filtered tags?
Idk, it's just weird to me to be discouraging towards people making fandom content just because it's not the specific content you want to see, like, it's ok to want to see other content, but complaining about how other people aren't catering to your tastes enough instead of just making the content you want to see yourself is kinda bad vibes, y'know?? (And that's not to say that I think those comments are intended out of malice of course, I really don't think they are, I just wanted to point out that it can come off as a little entitled, as well as discouraging towards people who just want to draw Turbo, which is something that should be fine if that's what they want to do. Fandom should be fun for everybody, and there's lots of tools available to curate your experience with it!)
#Wreck It Ralph#It also doesn't help that there was a solo Fix-It Felix drawing literally right there only a few posts down from one of these posts and-#-it went ignored?? Like people are going to draw more of the characters you want if you actually show appreciation towards those posts guys#Also this isn't towards any one specific person it's a complaint I've seen like four times in the past few days and I'm like ???guys???#Like heck the entire reason I started writing a Candybug fic was because I couldn't find any SFW fics with him as a Cy-bug#So I was like “Oh ok then I guess I'll just do it myself” lol#And then there's that person who was like “I want more Ralph+Vanny content” and then drew an AWESOME VANELLOPE LIKE??#This is something I also noticed a while back with people making passive-aggressive posts about artists that don't draw Turbo chubby#Like it's ok to not vibe with that but what do you gain from making people feel bad about how they do things y'know?#Be the change you want to see in the world!! Create art for the other characters you like!!!#The one thing we all have in common is our ability to create! So if you can't find the kind of things you want to see from others then-#-try making it yourself! It's lots of fun and then you can also provide more art for other people who might be looking for what you were!#Idk maybe I'm just overthinking things I have no idea lol#I just feel like risking discouraging or making people feel bad about just creating Turbo stuff isn't the way to go about it

Genuinely intrigued by the potential of Peri and Irep's dynamic but only in a platonic way so I end up not vibing with the fandom's portrayal of it 😔😔😔
(No but listen LISTEN they were kinda-almost-friends when we last saw them in FOP, yeah? Now they're enemies, with both actively fighting each other, and Irep going so far as to try and kill Peri's parents. What happened? When? What influenced it? Did they ever become friends, or did it nosedive the moment the cameras turned off? What about Sammy? How do Irep's parents factor into this? Could it ever be fixed? There's just so much we haven't seen, and romance just feels like too easy a solution to me. Let their friendship be easy to break, fragile. Let them have to work to keep the connection. Fairies and Anti-Fairies are literally made to be opposites, so what happens when two genuinely and truly become friends?)
((and yeah I guess a lot of this could factor into a romantic angle but ALAS the fandom seems to be leaning heavily into the funny toxic yaoi angle 😔 I don't mind it! By all means, please have your very harmless fun! But it ain't my jam :P Perhaps I'll have to write a oneshot myself...))
(((see tags for more rambles i guess. whoops a bitch spoke too much in there as he always does)))
#i'm banned (self inflicted) from writing long fics until i finish this one i'm working on#and honestly I might keep the ban afterwards i am SO BAD at working on long fics. never finished one ever#oneshot guy thru and thru. but painfully. disastrously. i have so many long fic ideas...#anyway I like to think that they did become friends#and then not friends. and then friends again. and then not friends. and then-#and sometimes it was Peri's fault but a lot of the times it was Irep not feeling like he was allowed to be Peri's friend#and doing something to break it off#but Peri would keep trying to be his friend or Irep would realize that he still wants to be#but one day. Peri just gave up#he was tired of this back and forth. of never knowing if he was gonna be friends with this guy tomorrow or not#so he stopped trying. decided that if Irep wanted to be friends again HE would have to be the one to try and repair it#and also give him an apology maybe. not for breaking off the friendship again just for all the fucking murder attempts#(''if i die you die too dumbass-'')#unforch this happened to line up with Irep finally reconnecting with Anti-Cosmo and Anti-Wanda again#and with them discouraging being friends with fairies + peri not trying to fix it this time... it. uh. kinda broke it off for good#('maybe not for good. maybe there's a chance. maybe Irep would-... ugh. it's not worth thinking about...')#Sammy's still friends with both of them though. It is Not Fun#gives Sammy my childhood experience of my two fighting friends wanting to sit with me at lunch but refusing to talk to each other#okay damn this post got long af. did not realize i had thought about this so much until i practically dropped a fic down here#anyway. actual tags? actual tags#fop#fairly oddparents#the fairly oddparents#peri fop#irep fop#peri fairywinkle-cosma#uh. do ppl search irep's full name... augh#irep anti-fairywinkle-anti-cosma#congrats elkniwirep your name fucking sucks. it's awful#a new wish

ummm. my fic is done.
#I mean it still needs a bit of editing but like after almost four months#the hell (writing) is finally over#it's clocking in at around 61k words rn and im tired#time to relax ((cry))#actually you know what. fuck it I'm gonna overshare about this a bit.#I've never written fic before#and besides that - this is the first thing I've sat down to write seriously in about ten years#and ten years ago I was just writing poetry and papers for college#(I don't mean 'just' in a bad way - I only mean that it's been a very different experience for me personally)#very protective over this fic in that it's been sitting in my lap and in my brain for a few months and I don't want to give too much away#so I've deliberately been vague with the marketing of it. because I want people to read and be surprised and experience it firsthand.#and I know it's supposed to be self-indulgent and writing should be about the process and not the results but#I hope people read it??? I've poured my soul into this thing. a bit. a lot. and I'm a simple creature who craves validation.#it's very personal yet at the same time I feel like I haven't done anything new or groundbreaking which. okay it's self-doubt saturday so.#I should ignore that feeling. anyyyyyyyyway.#I hope to post the first chapter in two weeks. crossing my fingers that I don't abort mission before then aaaaaahahaha#also comparison is the thief of joy etc etc etc#danny.xls#danny writes

And How Big The Little Things Can Be
(2,196 words)
Evan reminisces over how cold his house feels compared to Gregory's warm one, and gets some help when his emotions over it all get too much to control. Oh, and its also Halloween. 🎃
Evan has always hated the cold.
His father will keep the house at below sixty constantly. Both his father and Michael like it that way. They like the house being so cold it nips at Evan's ears even during Winter.
It's why when Evan first got the chance, he'd used the little amount of money he'd made on his own to buy a couple sweaters. His clothes had already been getting too small because of his growth spurt, but his Father wont take him to buy a new wardrobe until he physically cant fit into them anymore, or he looks ridiculous wearing clothes that rise at his stomach and choke his collar.
His Father had long since convinced their neighbors of his... feelings about the way Evan is. So when Evan had offered to do work to make money when all he had was T-Shirts and tank tops and shorts, they'd jumped at the opportunity to pay him for doing work like a 'real man'.
Since then, the cold had been a little more bearable, even though he has to wear two layers of socks and retreat to his thick comforter after school if he has no business outside.
Autumn has long since arrived, with the leaves turning shades of auburn and yellow, grass yellowing, and Evan's school library having spiderwebs and skeletons decorating its insides. His sweaters have gotten more use since the season started, with the harsh heat finally cooling until theres a pleasant breeze, the feeling of Halloween just around the corner.
But his sweaters cant stop the feeling of always having that chill in his chest when he'd hear a thump come from another place in his house, or when he'd hear a door slam, and that would signal somebody being home.
What a stark contrast that is to where he is now, warm, bundled up, and comfortable.
Hes sitting next to Gregory on that scratchy rug his house has in front of its fireplace, lights dim, the sun having long set, with a fluffy throw blanket wrapped around his shoulders and tucked neatly between his legs. He has only one hand free, just to bring the hot, piping mug of delicious hot chocolate to his mouth.
Fragments of their Halloween costumes are strewn across the floor, half-finished and homemade. It's the night before Halloween, or Halloween Eve as Gregory likes to call it, and they'd both come up with the bright idea of having matching costumes this Halloween.
They'd run around all day, jumping from store to store to gather supplies, since Gregory insisted on making their costumes from scrap. They'd already been tired when Roxy had taken them home, but still persisted and almost completely completed their costumes in one night.
Evan's eyes had been left stuttering and heavy at the end of it, shoulders sagged and body weary, but Evan hadn't felt bad. It's the first time Evans found out there can be a good kind of exhaustion. Where you've spent all day having fun, and still feel the remnants of excitement in your stomach.
They'd chosen the generic Angel, Devil, theme, but Gregory had promised him they'd have plenty of time to get through them all, someday.
It's only Evan's first Halloween since meeting Gregory, and he'd tried not to appear too affected by Gregory's words right in front of him when he'd first said them.
Never has Evan felt so... so excited for Halloween. Usually, its just the perfect opportunity for Michael to grab a one dollar mask at their local Spirit Halloween, and scare the living daylights out of Evan when he'd come back home from a good day, turning it into a worse day, because he wouldn't be able to shake the fear from his chest the rest of the night.
But this year, Evan has Gregory. Evan has people who actually treat Halloween like something fun, to look forward to, and not just as an excuse to scare him. This year, hes going trick or treating with his best friend, his family, and Evan's going to enjoy spending time with them. No looming prescense of Michael, just waiting to strike, or his Father, waiting for any excuse to comment on Evan's nature.
Its the first time he's felt excited for something like this, instead of dreadful. It's the first time Evan's been able to sit comfortably, and think of the coming days as something to look forward to, instead of something uncertain to be scared of.
It's the first time Evan's been warm, comfortable, and content in a long time.
The room is silent; save for the crackling of the fireplace and the soft music Gregory's house always seems to have playing. The only other sound is the general presence of Gregory and Roxy in the room with him.
Which is why when Evan suddenly has a wave of emotion wash over him, Gregory immediately snaps to attention from where he was nodding off when Evan starts crying.
"Evan?" Gregory asks worriedly, letting the blanket fall of his shoulders when he twists his body to face Evan. "Hey, are you okay?"
Evan shakes his head, gesturing vaguely with his hand. "Im-- I'm alright." He sniffs, and looks away when the tears keep coming, hiding his face as much as he can in his blanket covered knees. "Um, dont worry about me, please. I'm okay, I swear."
Despite looking away, Evan can still feel Gregory's hovering, worried presence at his shoulder, and Roxys watchful gaze on him.
"Did something happen?" Gregory asks, spitfiring. "Evan, if somethings wrong, can you tell me? You know I never judge you. This time is no different."
Evan shakes his head, removing his face from the blanket and facing Gregory. "Theres nothing wrong." He promises, and at the look Gregory sends him, he insists. "No, I promise! I-I dont know what's wrong, or... why I'm crying. I was happy just a few moments ago."
Gregory looks as confused as Evan feels. All Evan can do is bring the sleeve of his favorite sweater up to his cheeks and wipe the tears away, even if more follow right after.
Roxy hums, and sets the laptop she had in her lap to the side, sliding off the armchair she was sitting in to sit in front of Gregory and Evan, careful to move the headbands with a halo and devil horns they had been working on out of the way.
"Evan," She starts gently when she settles. "Are you sad right now?"
Evan's eyes widen, and he shakes his head, pulling the blanket tighter around himself. "No! I'm not." He insists. "...Which is why I'm so confused as to why I'm crying."
Roxy just tilts her head, leaning on one arm on the floor. "Okay, then let me ask you this, bud." She starts. "Have you ever cried because you were just so mad, or frustrated?"
Evan only thinks about it for a moment, his head nodding almost immediately, because he doesnt even have to mull that over. Theres been so many times where Evan would just smush his face into his pillow, and scream as loud as he could in his house. Because frustration is an emotion Evan is so used to, when Evan will wonder why Michael hates him so much.
"Yes." Evan says after a moment. "Yes, I have."
Roxy just nods, smiling that kind, but also wolfish smile of hers. "Then have you considered the idea that you might be crying because you're so happy?"
That makes Evan pause. He freezes, taking a moment for Roxys words to process as he turns them around in his head.
...It sounds awful when he thinks about it, doesnt it? The idea that he didnt even consider the idea of being happy enough to cry, because all he'd ever known is being mad, or sad enough to cry.
But that's what it is. That's what he reflects on, when for the first time, he's introduced to the idea that maybe, his emotions are just felt times two, and sadness and anger isnt the only thing he can feel intensely.
And also, that hes finally in a place where being so happy he can cry is a possibility. Is a reality.
Gregory must have noticed his intense thinking face, because then he seems to sag in relief, chuckling and shifting to get more comfortable. "So you were just so happy, that you cried?"
Evan doesnt answer for a moment, then finally tears his eyes away from the hole he was burning in the rug to look at Gregory. He nods, at first slowly, then more sure of himself. "Yeah." He sniffs, smiling. "I-I think so, yeah."
"Phew!" Gregory says exaggeratedly. "You had me worried for a second. I was afraid we somehow made you sad, or something."
Evan laughs, too, more tears pricking his eyes and following the tracks down his face, but all he does is wipe them away. "Me too." He says. "I was just confused. Because I'm not really sad around you guys."
Gregory just grins at him and grabs him in a side hug, shaking him slightly, but Roxy just chuckles, and hums again.
"Hang on." She tells them. They pause, glancing at her questioningly. "You two know how I go to the gym every Friday?"
Gregory nods, his hair tickling Evan's cheek, and Evan does too. Evan's been friends with Gregory for multiple months at this point, and he remembers Roxy talking about her weekly errand.
"Well," Roxy begins, smiling and looking pointedly at Evan. "I go to the gym because like you, Evan, I feel my emotions more intensely than other people might. But instead of it being all of them, like you, I just felt angry a lot. And it could get worse, and then I would blow up at people, or cry really hard."
Evan listens intensely, eyes wide. He nods, an invitation for Roxy to keep going, and she keeps that encouraging smile on her face. "It was like that for a long time. From when I was your age, to when I was a teenager. But it was only that way because I hadn't found my outlet yet."
Evan tilts his head. "Outlet?"
"I found out that hitting, or punching things, helps me channel my anger into one place, and let it all out without it affecting me or somebody else in a bad way." Roxy explains. "It helps to know you have a special time and place to let the emotions that build up inside of you out, so when they start to get bad before you're at that special spot, you can control them easier. Save them for when you know you'll be able to let them out."
Evan nods rapidly, soaking up every word. Hes never heard an adult talk about things he struggles with seriously before, let alone somebody who also experiences the same problem, and knows how to help. "So if I punch things, will it help me not cry so much?"
Roxy shakes her head, still smiling. "Probably not, Rockstar." She tells him, but before he can get too disappointed, keeps going. "But, we dont know. Things may not be the same for you the way they are for me, but if you try things out, eventually, you'll find the way that works best for you to let all your emotions out, so you dont blow up or they dont get uncontrollable in places you dont want them to."
Evan smiles, running the words over in his head. It's the first time theres ever been any indication that he can change, not for his family, but for himself. It's the first time Evan's felt like theres light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to his inner turmoil.
"If I could do it, you can too, Evan. My family didnt know how to help, but it was their support along with my friends' that helped me learn how to help myself."
"Well, you got us." Gregory pipes up, voice loud in Evan's ear. Gregory squeezes his shoulders a little tighter, twisting his body to be in Evans field of vision. "I'll help you find what your..." He pauses for a moment. "outlet is. I promise."
Evan smiles, moving to shift his neck to be pressed against Gregory. "Thank you." He says. To both of them. He meets Roxys eyes, and tries to express his gratitude with just his gaze.
Roxy seems to understand, because she just nods at him, as if to say 'I know you'll do great'.
"You should try punching Michael to see if thats your outlet." Gregory says. "I think that's a pretty good idea."
Evan splutters a laugh at that, and he can see Gregory grinning, too.
Evan's eyes are heavy, and sore from crying. Both from the exciting day he just had and from the emotions he just filed through, so when he let's himself lean against Gregory, body weary and cheeks littered with dried tear tracks, Gregory sits strong, and leans back as well.
Evan falls asleep like that, surrounded by warmth in more ways than one.

Drop that 0.01% fic that’s got the right vibe on silco because I’ve YET to find it & keep getting the ick trying to dig through some… creative… fics. NOT TO BE AN ASSHOLE like everyone has different tastes you can write what you want that’s what I do I get it but. I have to go back to the show to see The Truth. Which is that if I put myself within 10 feet of this man I’d be under the heel of his boot before a spec of drool could leave my wanting mouth. I wanna feel the arthritis creaking his knuckles while he tries to see how many times an airway can collapse
So ive been having several thoughts on this both specific to him and also as a whole
how i don't like that every single character (across all fandoms...) manages to get reduced to the same stereotypical lovey (or secretly so) romantic lead archetype, but also how I do love, from the outside, that it exists. especially in the reader ones... like theres something very Cute about people being like no, this character WOULD love me and drop guard for ME only. Less cute when everybody does it the exact same way for every character, the universal template.
Anyway I've actually yet to find any 😭 sometimes I'll think a fic is going good then they whip out the pet names every other sentence, the therapy speak explanation of Feelings, immediate resolution of decades of issues (<- this is present in all fandoms, and extra grating when it comes to characters like This Guy)...which i guess is fair depending on the piece (obvs a 1 chapter work isnt going to have time for all this. It doesnt have to be perfect like that! Actually none of these ppl are doing anything bad, ppl can write whatever they want, but it rly does feel like everyones just copying each other nonstop and sameifying every character vs actually thinking about...the character's personality...its all at the expense of the characters personality...)
Anyway maybe u should write something bc you've put much better imagery in my mind and piqued my incherest with those few sentences alone 😭 LMAO
#BUT ANYWAY YOURE VERY VERY RIGHT#i was trying to figure out how to word this but i feel adjacent. im not into dd silco making u call him daddy i need to be#what he's looking down at in that scene where he's angrier than he's ever been in his life. who said that#actually thats a lie ive found one thats kinda close. where he's mean and he doesnt care about you and makes sure you know it like YEEEY ^_^#skunk mail#anonymous#i didnt know how to word this but i saw one where he's like essentially got the other character signing a consent#form before anything. like im not saying the writing should be the extreme opposite of that. but its also not something in character ykwim#like u dont have to write the opposite of That extreme but u also could just not include what u did...😭 IDK#and then also again im not saying these fics are all bad its just ugh when its 99% of everything#like i actually dk that i cld selfship w him (FOR EXAMPLE) because he would not want me and that isnt as fun#so ''he DOES want u actually'' writing is very very fun....but at the expense of his entire personality lmfao#*the lie tag was about the fic ^_^ bc i said i havent found any. i have One saved.#theres another one i have saved bc of the Concept but the action falls flat like he would not say all that#long post#long ask
