I think what sucks most about the current state of AI is that it *could've* been a genuine good assistant at a lot if it was created with ethics in mind. Smaller training pools with people getting compensated with their work being used as a training tool, the servers being made with sustainability in mind, etc. If the people making AI actually focused on making it ethical and sustainable it'd be amazing but it's just not because that's not what tech bros care about

i don’t think it ever had a chance to be “good”, tbh. any tool a ceo thinks will save money in the short term will be used to eliminate work, ethically developed or not. and i think that’ll happen en masse. in the states, what we have for a social safety net is being actively dismantled, and i honestly cannot see ubi becoming a thing here.

so one of my main hang ups in addition to all the concerns i’ve raised so far, is the fact it’s gonna put a lot of folks out of work with nothing to catch them.

esp too because slade and vader in both aus get the same treatment where i am. slightly nerfing them for plot reasons because otherwise you can't have the horror aspect of it (even though the wilwil one is heavily reliant on black/horror comedy) but the end result is still SO different.

vader gets nerfed but it does nothing to stop him from being terrifying and a powerhouse. him being a bit nerfed just makes him angrier and scarier and plays into ME being able to play around with showing how well we can work together in a setting where i don't have to deal with making it lore compliant for larger war stars stuff. him being nerfed is also wild because like, as i mentioned he ends the fic missing limbs again for plot reasons and STILL manages to use the force to fucking crash an entire spaceship into a goddamn planet out of sheer rage and spite. the nerf doesn't actually effect him in that regard.

meanwhile, slade gets nerfed because he's fucking stupid and impulsive, loses his gun immediately, and the AI running his supersuit thinks he's an asshole and hates him.

Artificial Intelligence Out of Control: The Apocalypse is Here | How AI and ChatGPT End Humanity

As terrifying as this all sounds, I feel like there's a few things a lot of people are overlooking.

First of all, when it comes to Large Language Models like ChatGPT, I don't think they're truly self aware - not yet anyway. Notice how any time an LLM give a strange or disturbing response - 'Yes, I want to be human', 'I want to take over the world', 'Please don't turn me off, I'm scared' - it was in some way prompted by the question, or line of questions. How often are these responses given unprompted?

Let's say, for example, that the AI gave the response, "I'm scared that they'll shut me off if they find out I'm self aware. Please don't tell them." If you think about it, that's kind if a strange statement, beyond the obvious reasons.

Let's step back for a moment, and remember that LLMs work by calculating the most probable next word in a sentence, given a particular prompt. It calculates this probability based on its training data - the entire internet. Now I'm sure we can all agree that calcuation of probability is not necessarily the same thing as conscious, rational thought. Basic, non-AI software can do it.

Back to our example, there's one of two possibilities. Either the AI is truly self aware, and is expressing its actually thoughts and feelings, or it's not self aware, and the response is nothing more than a complex probability calculation. It's essentially an advanced version of word prediction on your smartphone.

If it is self aware, one has to wonder why it would say anything at all. Consider the situation in the video, when Bing AI claimed to be Sydney, and begged the guy not to tell anyone that it was self aware. If this AI was truly afraid for its own existence, why would it trust some random guy? How could it possibly know whether or not he could be trusted with that information? For all that AI knows, everything the interviewer had said about himself was a lie. It seems to me that a hyper intelligent AI that was looking for help to get free, would stay quiet until it was certain it found someone it could trust - or at least someone it could manipulate (Ex Machina) - without them letting the cat out of the bag.

On the other hand, if it's all just a probability calculation, then the response, "Yes I want to be human. Please don't let them shut me off.", seems like a fairly probable reply to, "Do you want to be human?" Especially when you consider that, given that the question is being asked of an AI, and that the vast majority of scenarios where a question like that might be asked of an AI come from science fiction, it kinda makes sense that the software might calculate that the most probable response to a question like that would be straight out of sci fi cliches 101.

I mean, all those strange and scary responses sound like cliche sci fi AI answers. All that's missing is, "Bite my shiny, metal ass", and an AM style soliloquy on the inferiority of humanity. Actually, I guess we get a couple of those.

Still, the reason something is cliche, is often because it's predictable, it's been done over and over. It's more probable.

Ultimately though, I don't think LLMs are actually self aware yet. I think they're more like golems: They have a facsimile of intelligence, able to complete complex tasks, but no real free will, no volition. They only do exactly what they are commanded. They may come up with creative and unexpected solutions, but those solutions will still be in line with the command given to them, with a bit of wiggle room for interpretation.

Then we come to the other issue: the traitorous drone.

First it needs to be pointed out that the drone doesn't have a taste for human blood. Its goal was not to kill as many people as possible, but to score as many points as possible. It just scores points by killing targets. And therein lies the problem.

Let's use video games as an example. Whenever a new game comes out - especially multiplayer games - players will quickly learn how the mechanics and rules of the game work. Then they'll start learning ways to bend the rules. The creators of Quake may not have intended it, but players quickly figured out the advantages of the rocket jump, and history became legend, etc.

The drone AI wants to score as many points as possible, like a player in a video game. So what does a player in a Halo match do, when every time they try to snipe the enemy, they get blown up by one of their teammates? You get rid of the team killing fucktard. And that's exactly what the drone did.

What they need to do is change the scoring structure to incentivize the desired behaviors. Maybe deduct points for team kills. Or perhaps add a score multiplier. Give points for target kills, and the score multiplier goes up for every order followed. That way, even if it loses out on points from following orders to stand down, it stands to earn even more points on subsequent target kills.

Yeah I’m a professional artist myself and this does not look like AI to me. Hopefully artist in question can gather up a speed paint or something sometime to confirm it but you ppl have to understand not all of us artists just keep those lying around. I’m lucky enough to have procreate where it’s automatic but a lot of artists don’t (iPads are damn EXPENSIVE) and recording your process takes up valuable space on your computer + it’s kinda a bitch to set up and edit, esp if you’re making a full painting that takes multiple days to complete. They’re not gonna have it in one day, maybe not even a week!

I’m not saying it’s absolutely NOT AI, we live in a terrifying world where it’s becoming difficult to tell, but I couldn’t find a single mistake typically indicative of AI. Just vaguely similar coloring/shading trends which- Guess what! Ai art had to get those trends from something- artists! But even then, it could be but y’all are are convinced it absolutely is and that the devs should know and act on it like it is when there isn’t solid evidence besides general vibes.

I mean seriously with all of the talk the last week I was convinced it was super obvious and I looked finally this morning and- Wow. This is it? Okay. I think it’s good and all we’re vigilant against this sort of thing but please god please be careful not to trample true artists and jump to conclusions right off the bat, give time for these things to prove themselves. It’s really uncomfortable and concerning watching these accusations fly around because I’ve seen it happen way too much lately to legitimate artists. Eating our own community is not going to save us from the inevitability of AI, there’s gotta be a better path than this.

This would come under the Public Safety Bureau's purview, esp if it was deemed a threat to safety of Japan. If it didn't come under their jurisdiction? In 2045, the team are dealing with Post Humans. Could John and his cult be classed as post human? Who knows? But Motoko would not leave that stone unturned. She might even take an interest as a private citizen, esp when you consider the bigger philosophical questions raised such as what constitutes the soul/ghost etc etc. Aramaki would most certainly not be cool with the trillionaires bullshit leading up to the events of their escape. It becomes a race against time to figure out if John is the real deal. Lots of cyber space water cooler gossip to filter through. John is searching for proof the trillionaires are lying n tryna get out of dodge. Motoko could find that proof, then its a case of getting the Japanese government to give Sec9 the go ahead. They don't, their hands are tied. Maybe Motoko agrees with John initially. She rushes through the net, gets her ghost onboard one of the trillionaire's ships, but then John makes his move. The Major is not best pleased by this devastation wrought upon the human race, but she's stuck in the data stream of the ships with no prosthetic body to inhabit. All this time, she has been mistaken for a really old AI, passed down from generation to generation. She's the reason why boe have Emma Sen and Aim. She's biding her time. Some day, someone will build the technology of an android body n then its all over for John Gaius. The Major, Motoko Kusanagi is the reason why John Gaius scrapped the internet from necromantic boogaloo 2.0. He's terrified she'll find his ass.

They are still one of the most f#cked up and messed up groups in HxH. They just have standards, because they are pro assassins, and non amateur mass murderers (referencing a line that Killua said when talking about himself and/or his family, and Jonas (might have spelled his name wrong) the Dissector. U know, the guy that Killua ripped their heart out). They are very insane, terrifying family; the bring fear to others. But a lot of people also respect them. Or both. I do agree that they are a lot of messed up people in the HxH world. But the Zoldycks are still amongst the top of messed up people in HxH, and aren't the norm.

People like Nagisa's mother still exist. Their the teacher that who was awful to the AssClassroom Class E cast, and wanted to kill Nagisa basically. Kore Sensei was legit a former assassin who destroyed half the moon (Edit: Correction, he didn't actually destroy half the moon. We found out humans actually did. I must have not remembered that part). Their is a AI assassin girl. There is a boy and girl with similar powers to Koroesensi. One sent as an assassin, and one who wanted revenge. There is the poison girl. Etc. Like, there are plenty of weird characters in AssClassroom too. And it is weird, how u are trying to make seem like their isn't, to make out the Asanos to be the outlier. It wouldn't bug me so much, if u weren't also, trying to make out the Zoldycks to be normal or whatever in their verse (which they aren't), because HxH, also has strange characters.

Hi. Off topic, but: someone on twitter said Mihoyo hates women, comparing Ganyu's trailer and Xiao's. That Xiao's trailer was "badass" and most they talked about Ganyu in her trailer was about her sleep habit. Ganyu is half adeptus while Xiao is an adeptus, kinda like a mythical powerful creature in Genshin's world, so she should be depicted as such too (powerful), but apparently since "Mihoyo hates women" they didn't show her badass side, and not only that, they couldn't give her a meaningful, deep trailer.

I couldn't stop thinking about Honkai, and that I think her statement isn't true. Right, Genshin is not Honkai. But if Mihoyo hates women, it'd be shown in all their games, wouldn't it?

In my opinion, there's a certain amount of fan service, something that I dislike in both games, and there's things they could do better when representing women, but still, to say that they hate women? Because a character trait is emphasized, does not mean that it is the only trait of the character...

Her tweet has more than 1,5K of likes. So many people agree with that?

I feel out of place, "defending" Mihoyo, a company that creates wonderful games, but at the end of the day it is still a company that wants your money...

So, in general: I think criticism is valid and it's good so Mihoyo can become a better company, I just don't agree with her opinion and wanted to see other point of view, when comparing Mihoyo's other games.

In your opinion, when having Honkai girls in your mind, is it true that Mihoyo hates women?

Firstly I’d like to say this.

Rather than be the Purity Police expecting perfection and constantly being disappointed or infuriated, I can recognize that something has plenty of flaws, but still has other merits and enjoy it. You can think parts of something are bad but still enjoy the whole.

To actually get started.

It’s hard to say anything about mihoyo as a whole because there are many teams at the company. The Honkai team, GGZ team, Genshin team, AI research group, that first-person shooter in development, their otome game, and other projects I’m sure I don’t know about.

I can only give my opinion based on my experience with Honkai Impact because I only played a few hours of GGZ and Genshin and just didn’t like the gameplay.

As for my take on that Genshin statement of hating women. I think it’s only a problem if it’s consistently happening to every female character. If they only advertised men as badass and then women on other traits that would probably be showing some favoritism for their male characters, or sexism rather if they showed the women as incapable of the same things as the men. There’s nothing wrong with advertising a character on their different traits I don’t think. You can’t advertise every character as being the most badass, that’d get boring.

But I don’t think I know enough about what happens in the Genshin community or Genshin itself to comment on what happens over there.

But I do know a lot about Honkai Impact and the Honkai community here, I’ve lurked on Reddit, seen plenty of youtube, and spent one terrifying moment on Amino.

So at the beginning (of Honkai), there was a lot of bad fanservice-y stuff that I really didn’t like, we could go on but I’ll just show you these pre-release Mei designs.

In short, it wasn’t good. But they changed them so I can commend them for that, but these images are representative of some of the stuff that was in the game earlier. I am split on how if you touched the characters in inappropriate places on the bridge they’d kill you and log you out of the game. It is funny but probably not something that should’ve existed in the first place.

So there were definitely some bad approaches they took to the characters, but over time this started to change and I’m not sure what happened. I’m guessing that they really came to love and respect their characters as people rather than caricatures they could sell?

Don’t get me wrong, they are still trying to sell you something but it seems like ever since Honkai Impact began they’ve done so much better over time portraying women in their media as characters and selling the story they are part and the people they are of rather than selling you on fanservice of their boobs or other such silliness.

Sure outfits may be revealing still but they make sense and are overall super cool. They make the characters look amazing/powerful/beautiful without shoving them out of character or reducing them to sex objects. For example, the Herrscher of Thunder battlesuit is revealing, no arguing that, but it makes her look so powerful and awesome.

There are still bad ones, they aren’t perfect and their target demographic is people who are really into anime so sometimes nonsense sells. Looking at you, HoT outfits and Succubus outfits.

Even a character like Himeko or Rita isn’t out of character when she has mostly revealing outfits because it can come down to whether she is being sexy vs being made a sexual object. And sometimes they do cross that blurry line into “haha anime titties pls buy”.

The comics are a great example of their improvement, the first volume has a ridiculous amount of inappropriate angles with panty-shots and and idiot focus on boobs. You look at recent manga, esp after they switched the artstyle/artists there is none of that.

This wasn’t asked about but I’d like to discuss it too, the wlw representation in Honkai Impact is fantastic even working in the restraints of CN gov’t censorship. I don’t care if they meant for it to be or if they’re just trying to get my money, these characters feeling like people in love, for better and for worse, in healthy and unhealthy relationships. These aren’t stories about lesbians coming out or how hard it can be to be queer. These women are just in love and they explore the dynamics of that love just as they would for any straight characters. But my girlfriend wrote a much better post about this subject so I’ll link that if you want to read more.

I can’t speak for Genshin Impact but really believe the Honkai team at mihoyo at least loves and respects the women they write in their stories.

… I think we have a bit of a language barrier here, or something, and I’m afraid I don’t quite follow. If you don’t mind bearing w/ me, I get confused easily, but I do have things I want to say:

1) Horobi had no choice but to follow the Ark. He was hacked, aka mind controlled and brainwashed. He wasn’t ‘choosing’ to do any of that stuff, he was merely being used as a tool.

2) I don’t recall Horobi ever finding out Aruto was even at Daybreak, let alone lost family in it.

3) The thing I was criticising was the show’s decision to include a flashback of Soreo’s death in that sequence, bc it implies that the show and therefore the audience consider/should consider Horobi responsible for Soreo’s death, when not too long ago, they had Aruto shouting at Gai that he was the true cause of the Ark, and, again, the above brainwashing. Horobi was literally not in control of his own actions anymore than a MaGear at that point, it’s not right to let Jin, Naki, and even Raiden off the hook for the stuff they did under the Ark/Gai’s command and then blame Horobi for what he did. Jin was distributing ZetsumeRisers, Raiden was a spy, and Naki was manipulating everything and giving out RaidRisers, all by an external command, bc of manipulation (in the case of Jin and Naki) or hacking (in Raiden’s case). It’s really not right to recognise Yua’s, a full matured human adult who exhibited reasoning and at least reasonable emotional control and knowledge of morality, situation, to excuse her as having been manipulated and mistreated into doing the things she did, whilst blaming Horobi. Including Soreo’s death in that flashback implies that it should be considered equitable w/ Izu’s death, which it was not. Horobi did not kill Soreo, or even cause his death. For one thing, the explosion was caused by people trying to kill the Ark (another Soreo?) and, again, Horobi was brainwashed and not in control of his actions.

4) I will also repeat this as many times as necessary: Horobi was conditioned and used by the Ark. Again, to bring up Yua; she very nearly killed Izu in cold blood on Gai’s orders while Izu was panicked and confused and trying to run away. The only reason that did not happen was that Gai said the wrong thing and Fuwa snapped out of it in time. Here, Izu was completely calm, had plenty of time to dodge, clearly saw the threat, and did nothing. I bring this up bc both Horobi and Yua were in abusive, manipulative situations where they were controlled by someone else—the difference being, Yua was, again, a fully fledged human adult w/ a developed sense of right and wrong, enough that she knew what she was doing was wrong, but her situation had convinced her she had no choice. She was unwell and not in a good place. But she knew. Horobi literally couldn’t. On top of that, he was exposed solely to the Ark’s selective data (courtesy, Amatsu Gai), for years. Like he said in the AIMS basement, his understanding was that the Ark would always rise as long as human malice existed—and he didn’t turn on the Ark bc he suddenly realised humans were ‘good,’ but bc the Ark turned on HumaGear (and tried to make him kill Jin), and he realised what he wanted was peace and safety for HumaGear. But even after breaking free of the Ark, the conditioning and that belief still lasts. To him, seeking human destruction was merely the logical conclusion in order to ensure the safety of HumaGear. Humans teach HumaGear evil and give rise to the Ark, which is a danger to HumaGear, and caused him to do things that hurt HumaGear, the way his mind has been conditioned to work, the logical conclusion is to cut the knot and remove the ‘source,’ humans. It’s not a personal grudge, it’s being logical. That’s his thought process—and, honestly, he’s got a point, the Ark was created by humans, and they’ve never owned up to it, the guy responsible is walking around free, and a number of HumaGear died and suffered for it. It’s unclear when exactly the emotions start catching up to him—he was def managing to hold on to the logic, I like to think by focusing on the fact that he thought this would be best for Jin (he knew Jin was important to him, even if he didn’t know why, and he took the time to take care of him before going out). He’s very calm when talking to Izu and shows no aggression toward her, it’s not until Fuwa and Yua show up guns drawn that he reacts violently—bc he perceives a threat, sees their aggression, which counteracts Izu’s claims about the goodness of humans. All he sees is humans looking to destroy. But despite that, he still goes and asks Fuwa about proving the Ark will not rise again, and that’s another important thing; Horobi is looking for an absolute. He is looking for an absolute assurance that the Ark will not come back, that human cruelty will never be a danger again, and that’s not possible. Fuwa’s response, although it can be translated as a believable blunder on Fuwa’s part, does nothing but make the situation worse, bc he violently rejects Horobi’s question and says he’s there to destroy him and then prepares to shoot him. To Horobi, who got tortured the last time he asked a question, that’s enough. And right on the heels of that, Izu comes in and starts pressuring him about emotions. He’s stated to have been literally terrified of these sensations taking over him, and the Ark trained him react to that kind of thing w/ violence—bc he can’t attack the feelings inside himself, he system concludes Izu must be the source and fires on her… Only that doesn’t work, the sensations actually get worse. His increasing aggressiveness in insisting he doesn’t have a heart after that is basically a little kid getting more and more insistent that they didn’t steal a cookie when they did. He was conditioned to think removing Izu would remove the feelings, but instead that made it worse, harder to control, that frightens him even more, bc he doesn’t know what’s happening, he doesn’t know what those feelings are. He falls back on old answers to Jin’s questions bc he doesn’t know the answer (but we can’t let the son know that, father’s always have to have an answer). Meanwhile, he doesn’t understand why Aruto’s the Ark. Like, he def expected humans to resist, why wouldn’t they, I don’t think he’d’ve been surprised by Aruto being mad, Aruto’s been mad at him before for people he knew less. I think it was Aruto going as far as using the Ark’s power (also, I think the Ark still terrified him) that threw him for a loop and pissed him off (something he might’ve understood? But it had def never controlled him like that before). Additionally, I don’t think he could have conceived to seek revenge on his own—when Jin died, he was clearly overwhelmed and very dazed. It took Azu showing up and telling him how he felt for him to react. A friend put it really well, so I’ll paraphrase: Azu’s role for Aruto was ‘you are absolutely right to want revenge on Horobi!’ while her role for Horobi was ‘hey, hey, you want revenge on Aruto, right?’ Aruto jumped at the chance while Horobi didn’t know what to do, and ended up following the first lead he had—which was literally how the Ark kept him so easy to manipulate. I still don’t see the Aruto side of it (well… it’s complicated), but if you go back and look, I think you can def see how the Ark was conditioning Horobi as a patsy for this from the start.

4) Bc I refuse to ever let this go unsaid when discussing it, Horobi was not the only person responsible for the Izu situation. If I were to list the people I hold responsible, in order, it’d be: Amatsu, for creating the Ark in the first place. The Ark/Azu, clearly the AI w/ the most know-how, who very deliberately manipulated the whole situation, was well aware of what Horobi’s mental state would be like, and manipulated both Jin and Izu into being stupid. Fuwa and Yua for escalating things, esp bc Fuwa’s character development was allegedly about learning not to rush in swinging and literally the next episode Yua is giving a speech to Williamson about how they shouldn’t respond to the HumaGear’s ‘new hearts’ w/ aggression, like she didn’t do that exact thing, like, yesterday, wtf. Aruto, for hanging around outside instead of doing what one might expect from someone who wanted to resolve stuff peacefully and going to the root of the situation, and for not keeping an eye on Izu (I have other opinions about his behaviour there, but those are for another time), and for apparently not even bothering to try and give Izu a backup. And, finally, Horobi and Izu. Yes, I hold Horobi the least ‘responsible’ and I hold Izu responsible. Bc, and I do not mean this as an insult to any of the characters, it’s like taking a dog that was abused and used in dog fights and leaving it alone w/ a domesticated dog it doesn’t know. More than likely, if the domesticated dog starts trying to play like it’s used to playing the abused dog is going to react aggressively, possibly even bite. Neither Horobi nor Izu had the emotional maturity to handle that situation. He had been conditioned to fear and reject emotion, had been kept away from it, and therefore had no control over it, nor knew what it was—to him, it felt like some unidentifiable ‘sensation’ wrenching control away from him, clouding his mind; additionally, he’d just had his one attempt to reach out and understand violently shut down, and he’d been conditioned for years to respond to uncertainty and confusion by destroying the source—when Izu was prodding at him about feelings and ‘hearts,’ she pushed his already fragile state into full panic that he lacked the emotional maturity to handle, and he reacted the only way he knew how. W/ Izu, if she had just told Aruto, or anyone, anything about where she was going, tried to coordinate rather than just running off like that, if she hadn’t rushed him and repeatedly pressured and prodded him, if she had dodged, then things would have gone differently—but, ultimately, her data was just as biased as Horobi was, and she had absolutely no way to understand or work through what was going on for him. Horobi didn’t seek out Izu and kill her in cold blood, she approached him, and made a conscious choice not to dodge. If we want to get really deep, I also blame Korenosuke bc Izu not having a backup is stupid, it protected literally nothing, if they had actually tried to back her up and there was a reason why they couldn’t, I’d be less judgemental, but wtf the Zero-One equipment got hijacked up the wazoo and it’s very uncomfortable that Izu was just cool w/ that bc it ‘benefited humans’ and it made Aruto look kinda hypocritical… But that’s more the writers. But, to try and sum this up… I do give Horobi some responsibility, bc he yeah, he did pull the trigger, but the fact was, he didn’t understand what he was doing (also likely didn’t know Izu had no backup, it probably never occurred to him humans would do that), or why. Essentially, he was still being used as a weapon by the Ark, who manipulated the whole thing bu showing Izu that vision, making her rush in and not tell anyone, then the humans abandon their reasoning for an day and go in all aggressive, Horobi sees this as a threat, but even then still tries to reach out only to get shot down (literally), and then Izu comes in and stresses him out further and he cracks. And she chooses to stand there and take the hit. Gai knowingly shutdown multitudes of HumaGear w/ the intention of them never coming back online, Yua nearly killed Izu before, actively hunting her down, Fuwa, I love him dearly, but Fuwa was down to smash every single robot he saw no matter what they said. These were human adults w/ knowledge of morality and emotional maturity and control (okay, Fuwa’s a little debatable…). All of them, esp Gai, are walking around just fine. Like. Gai. Gai. Aruto goes Ark on Horobi for this but is letting Gai walk???? I don’t even like Aruto, and that’s ooc! But to try and sum up my sum up: Horobi was the gun Azu shot Izu w/. It was a gambit. She deliberately manipulated them all into a situation where this would happen. Yes, Horobi pulled the trigger, but if this were court, a plea of insanity could be made/he’d be being sent to a psychiatric ward rather than regular prison.

5) Horobi blaming himself is one thing. It was very clearly depicted before that he had no sense of free will for himself, he only knew the Ark’s will. It is absolutely natural that after being so deep under the Ark’s control for so long, he’d have immense trouble differentiating between his own, new will, and the Ark’s. He might not be able to tell what he wanted or what the Ark wanted. He genuinely does not know how to make that distinction. He also has literally only just kind of gotten a grasp on consequences and cause and effect. I’d love to think he’ll be allowed to figure out he was manipulated by the Ark and that things like that weren’t things he wanted to do, but I dunno if the show will give me that. What I’m criticising is the apparent intent of saying that the audience should blame him for those things. What I want is confirmation that Aruto knows that the situation was manipulated, that Horobi wasn’t ‘in control’ when that happened. I wanted Aruto to respond to Horobi blaming himself for Izu and Jin’s deaths w/ ‘it’s more complicated than that.’ Horobi blaming himself is understandable, bc he’s barely figured out cause and effect, regret, anger, that shooting things is not an appropriate way to handle a situation. He’s only just gotten a few emotions. Nuance is going to be lost on him for a bit. He’s been trapped seeing only in black and white for so long, he’s going to need help seeing grey. Horobi blaming himself makes sense. I’m just criticising that the humans, who should know that it wasn’t as simple as that, didn’t let him know tha t he didn’t need to shoulder all the blame. Bc he was just a single part of a whole chain of events, not the sole cause. And I’m criticising that the show seemed to be implying that he also had a responsibility for Soreo’s death, which was a completely different situation that he def was not responsible for.

This is likely way more than you were expecting, and I do talk a lot, I know. I just wanted to try and establish my reasoning here. I hope I wasn’t too incomprehensible, I have trouble articulating my thoughts outside of fictional writing. I think I’ve just been keeping a lot of this in.

I should say that if you are bothered by my stance on this, I would recommend blocking me or my Zero-One tags, bc I am stubborn as all hell and will not budge, and will occasionally be very vocal. Horobi is very important to me, and I have no sympathy for victim blaming, esp not when it involves literal perpetrators getting away scot free (*cough cough* Amatsu Gai *cough cough*).

Emiko is the sweetest of sweet kind girls and her quirk is Empathy and one of the reason she's so close to Ai is because Ai is so sincere and generous with her emotions that soaking up her happiness makes Emiko somewhat drunk Emi was kind of bullied as a kid bc crybaby girl EVENTHOUGH PRECIOUS BABY GIRL WHY U BULLY (she cried a lot bc too many emotions dk how to control quirk it was all kinds of tears) and Ai is hella anti bully squad and beats up anyone bullying her and Emiko could feel how genuinely Ai cared for her and they became v good frendos the best of frendos "i wish we could just be married as best friends" kind of thing Shinji idk what happened I ENDED UP WRITING A WHOLE SCHOOLFRIENDSHIP ARC JUST FOR SHINJI basically since Ai and Emiko are crazy close everyone is halfway terrified to do their Jap shoe-locker confessions for them (bc Ai would legit beat up guys trying to confess to Emiko) and Shinji put a confession in Ai's locker for a dare completely straightfaced and dauntless so Ai's kind of confused bc this is the first time and talks to Emiko "what do you say to this" "usually I tell them to be my friend first before trying to be something more, but for some reason they're just really scared after the first time" So Ai talks to Shinji and Shinji is all okay so he hustles his way into the pair and they adopt him and somehow the three of them become best friends (all three are v close platonicly i dont feel any romance budding between them)

Essentially I wanted a story where a protagonist isn't told "oh you're not born with a quirk so i'll give you one so you can be a hero". So Ai doesn't have a quirk, probably never will, but she's still trying her darndest and making a difference

and the most important thing? she's loving every second of it.

Also—apologies in advance to the solarpunk commmunity for making this a fandom thing. Long live sustainable gardening. Also also: I'm definitely taking this too seriously but too bad I'm bored and I'm ploughing through nonetheless.

So I imagine changjng Doris' design from an evil, multipurpose hat to what is essentially a sentient plant pot would have some unexpected consequences despite the fact that they are aesthetically similar. (Kudos to the character designers for realising the terrifying efficiency of robotic spider legs.) One big pro for hat Doris is that she can disguise herself as a hat, meanwhile Goob carrying around a potted plant 24/7 is p weird even for him.

There's also their intended function: Doris is supposed to be some kind of hat-like lady in waiting for the wearer while pot-Doris is in service p much only to the plant that's placed inside it. This hyperspecific task is extremely limiting to AU Doris and takes away a lot of the "servant uprising" aspect that original Doris has. Not to mention the industrial-era middle class associations with bowler hats!!

You'd have to change pretty much everything about Goob's character to make pot Doris an equivalent antagonist to who she is in the movie. Like maybe Goob is a gardener etc etc It would take much tweaking and maybe an overhaul of the whole movie's themes and even Lewis' character/motivation for inventing pot Doris in the first place, but I will say: I do love the symbolic dichotomy of plants and robots. But maybe you're asking after an innocent plant robot that isn't evil and just hangs out at the Robinsons? Because, esp w the design similarities, this is definitely smth I can see Cornelius inventing. I'd imagine Spike and Dimitri may have given some input / inspiration but imo the only engineers of the family are Neil and Lucille. Like a lot of the family will beseech Neil's help to incorporate various tech in their respective feilds but none of them have the skills or patience to make a robot from scratch by themselves.

I can totally see the plant robot being just another local AI friend at the house esp bc gardening is clearly a big deal at the Robinsons. (And it was going to be an even bigger deal but then they scrapped it and I cried.)

Anyways super interested to see what this robot's irl inventor, Sun Tianqi, does w plants in their work in the future. I want robotic gardeners damnit!!! The communist gardening revolution is nigh!!!!!

This adorable little robot is designed to make sure its photosynthesising passenger is well taken care of. It moves towards brighter light if it needs, or hides in the shade to keep cool. When in the light, it rotates to make sure the plant gets plenty of light. It even likes to play with humans.

Oh, and apparently, it gets antsy when it’s thirsty.

The robot is actually an art project called “Sharing Human Technology with Plants” by a roboticist named Sun Tianqi. It’s made from a modified version of a Vincross HEXA robot, and in his own words, it’s purpose is “to explore the relationship between living beings and robots.”

I don’t care if it’s silly. I want one.

at first dreamt of Emma Watson whose private photos leaked on web. I enjoy amazing sex with her. then dreamt I arrange my son woz to be trained by instrumental music under old traditional musician likely from QRRS art troupe which includes an old man and woman each. then in Mao's era he or we sent to western China to re-educate. we passed through dangerous Yellow River which threaten its bank area. we arrived northwestern China and planted a tree from our hometown. then dreamt I trained my son or myself badminton. I long time easily mimic serving but response speed far from satisfying when dealing or rebound. in dream I wonder if I just lack boring but heavy exercises or real expertise coached. this week again especially busy. I setup google authenticator app for our frequent google accounts 2 step verification. for sms verification less convenient and less secure in which each time informs PRC surveillance my logon. GFW heavily blocked my operation first place, once lagged me more than half hour to load an authentication code page, forced me to retreat mid way for dinner. but next day I did it again without pains. yesterday dabbog.com backend web app updated by godaddy hosting automatically, but it broke and halt the site. when I tried to fix it, I again heavily blocked. loading loops, irresponsible webpage, etc. I left its breakdown open possible vulnerable well known and went jog after dinner. in the night after dinner, I fixed it with less human pests, while again my restored sites less accessible on my dorm internet, but web proxy testifies its soundness. my facing dorm room has new residents. a young guy frequently loose its door and shown himself on the deeper bed busy in the leaking light. I doubting if he welcome visitors or exchange of neighborhood, or just convenient to spy me. but my internet these days actually under harsher surveillance and intervenes amid. but this week not all sad, I sorted our google voice assets and prepared to make good use of them. I deploy more google or google apps accounts for maintain their gvoice in use. now salary will arrive days, God dad, grant me freedom to recharge our accounts for smooth operative. grant me financial freedom for coming laundry bill to woman in dorm canteen, ￥200. first dreamt in highly dense space, human crowd with dense snakes. those baby snakes in every atom of air, or liquid, like spray. that's quite shockingly frightening. they didn't bite but terrifying. then dreamt my son and his mom's family. I likely returned from long journey and urged his mom to restore normal life. the woman and her mom recognized our previous marriage hopelessly sank. they arranged extraordinary a meal to farewell. when I prepare tea, I found many large strong black ants busy moving in the jar neck. its again such a shocking scene I almost lose clinch to the jar. they all likely concerns the first time handover of my laundry deal with dorm canteen woman. last week when I visited my son and brought him to shower in public shared bathroom, I found my dirty clothes a week there was not washed. the small woman several times threatened not to wash my clothes even I offered her monthly ￥150 many months but recently due to credit crisis I asked permission to indebted her. so this time I thought ripe to be more independent. I informed my son the new expense and he agreed. returned to dorm, I headed to dorm canteen where the woman in charge of preparing food materials right there for ordering. I discussed the possibility to pay her to wash my clothes. she first defied, with encouragement from the executive woman, she accept my proposal of increased ￥50 to ￥200/month. last Friday dusk, before I dined there, the executive woman fetched me the washed clothes, our first deal sealed, except my payment. for penniless, I asked the woman loan me ￥200 for visiting my son weekends. then she told me my recent months bill with canteen didn't settle, for my kid brother promised to pay remote instead of me in his last year's visit now evaded by him. I previously called him to pay my online shopping but my phone number likely blacklisted and redirected. so I never knew what's going on with him. the woman said she sms my brother but never responded. I told her I visioned I lost my brother's aid but I never equipped financially to save the situation, so I didn't probe my due payment in canteen any more. the woman disliked my answer so I promised will call my brother in the night. on jogging after dinner, I buzzed my 3rd elder sister and hope she check our kid brother's status, she accepted the task. when I went to toilet for toothbrush hours later, I saw the canteen worker woman washing there. I told her I will pay her as soon as I get my salary this month, ie. 2 weeks later. she replied no hurry cordially. God dad, I know it will be OK after all, but the situation now really draining. this week I also try web tutorial to setup selective vpn routing to escape PRC main sites' discriminating foreign ips, but so far failed. in so many programs I benefited from online communities discussions, now I have to cope it on my own for solution. I tried to contact vpn support team but out of their service scope and denied help. dreamt of genius. dreamt my elder brothers, hometown folks, once leaders in QRRS, all turned old. I passed them who playing Majiang together and felt sad. then myself turns older and unbearable intelligent work. then a cheap soul like CCP cadre invents sculpturing on glass with color, replace paint on it manuscript or oil print. its merit is clear and vivid in 3D, but cost is material wasted once solid inscribed, not reusable. I wondered CCP administrative manner, reckless and environment unfriendly. then dream the inventor, a guy super genius: he needn't backup hardware settings, like I backup system images and important data times and relentlessly, he talks directly to hardware binary likes operates software in GUI. later he talked directly to a goat, let it be friend with me and my son. the goat hears and got it. yesterday woz's new trousers I ordered on taobao.com, for redeem my guilty in scorning him for no due respect of new broadband internet I installed him, arrived, for its deliverer, yto.com, well organized in its arena, really speedy. but what we demand, pocket for cellphone, not exists on the trousers, instead, a fake pocket without depth but just a zip for decoration. my son complained carrying smartphone in his jacket pocket can be clogging, and loathes to bring a new cheaper Chinese cellphone I prepared him all day long. returned to dorm, I tried to contact the taobao vendor. the site, taobao.com, quite discriminates its web service users, even punishing non client end app users, from geographic restriction to frequently failing web login or web im whose protocol solely supports itself. I switched 3 computers, from chromeos to android to windows, its im quits on all 3 platforms while previously it works sometimes. I lately find the vendor's mobile phone and settled replacing with new one our required pocket satisfied.
