i’ve started babysitting for a VERY christian family which is great because they pay me a lot of money but as someone who was raised almost completely agnostic it’s kind of insane. the 2 year old keeps asking me to read her stories from the bible. (why are we reading david and goliath to a 2 year old????) the 5 year old told me today that he was going to bring his legos to heaven with him. he also has repeatedly told me that the lego spaceships he builds are stronger than jesus. (not sure what to say to that. do i deny it??? are things allowed to be stronger than jesus??) had to stop myself mid sentence today because i almost told them im not going to heaven which would DEFINITELY have caused several meltdowns. they’re also both completely fascinated by my nose ring

Look. Look, how do I start? I’m not sure if it’s because I was expecting another thing (that’s probably it) or because it truly was meant to leave that impression, but the musical was kind of a deception to me. There was a rumor that Tim Burton made the second movie because of the musical and I can totally believe it

Anyways, What kind of amateur critic on Tumblr would I be if I did not say both positive and negative things? (Just some, I don't want to bore you)

From Act 1:

Positive things:

-Love the intro number. The transition from the ballad to the whole being dead thing is great. It gives a good perspective to both characters. It engages with the audience, which is always appreciate, even tho after paying who would leave, am I right?

-I particulary liked how Betelgeuse was , like, just hanging around the Maitlands. He created a parasocial/paranormal relationship, if you catch my drift

-Say my name was a great song, had the Friend like me vibes

-The banana-oh scene is really well made. It reasembled the og material and the ensemble singing was harmonically pleasing

-The scenario changing was good, but I guess that's more related to budget

Negative things:

-Lydia's characterization is too different. I feel like her motivations for going up the roof could have been explored a bit more Maybe if we had a glimpse about how she was like before the funeral. It's not a bad character, just it's so ooc to be considered Same goes with Charles and Delia.

-The song in which the Maitlands are presented, not my thing

-Betelgeuse mommy issues, like, as a whole, also not my thing. And also, Lawrence? really

Act 2

Ok, here is when things start just to go weird, but not in a good way

Good things

-When they do the haunting house, ooc from the original, but the number was good. So thoughtful they did not scare too hard the scoutgirl, but then she would have stayed there. It would have been funny

-Miss Argentina, she slayed

-Otho, honestly, that guy. He also slayed. The two of them should have have to carry the whole act. A shame they don't interact

Negative (just a few)

-I absolutely despised the "Creepy Old Man" number. Not sure if it was because I didn't like the instrumental, the fact that they wouldn't stop repeating the same thing over and over again. Please, it's supposed to be a parody of the trope of Death and MaideN, I ALREADY KNOW

-Speaking of songs, the way they mixed Shake, shake señora with the Dead Mom theme?????? Not my thing. Also, pretty mean that they don't let the guy who carried the whole show not be in the finale number????????

-The end. It happens too fast. So ooc of Betelgeuse from both the original and the musical. Are you telling me that after surviving and domesticating the Sandworm that was the REASON you couldn't leave in first place? Make it eat Juno, saving everybody, YOU'RE LETTING YOURSELF GET DRAGGED TO LITERAL HELL WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!?

Anyways, it would be really hypocrite of me if I didn't say that I quite enjoyed watching it and that I have added some of the songs to my music playlist.

So, a solid 6/10

Light clarifications; The fae is not the one choosing the bones. The bone is taken at random. Each bone, no matter the size or importance, is worth a full million dollars. You must also declare the exact number first, you can't go bone-by-bone. You either say 2 or you say 10, you can't work your way up to a higher number. The bones are removed instantaneously, and the money is given immediately as well. You will not get in government trouble for acquiring the money.

Tell me in the tags/replies how many bones you'd let the fae take. And as always, reblog for bigger sample size.

love the idea of the Batfamily getting stopped and searched in the family car on the way back to the Manor and everyone’s tense expecting Jason to be the one packing like twelve guns but it’s Alfred? Alfred is absolutely unbelievably strapped up to high heaven? And he somehow manages to talk to the cops out of arresting him or even giving him a ticket?

Bruce is just standing on the side of the road pinching the bridge of his nose. Jason is grinning so widely his face is about to rip. Alfred’s guns are all sitting on the hood of the car and there’s at least three there that Bruce remembers taking away and destroying. Dick is taking pictures on his phone to send to Barbara and trying not to laugh. Tim has Kon on speaker narrating it…
